Author's note: This idea has been swimming in my mind since 2 days so I decided to write it down and post it :)

Part 1

Chan being the bright extrovert he is came into your life and kind of adopted you, i.e made you live and enjoy your life openly,he always understood you,always made you laugh like the comedian he is,is always so considerate of you and tried to blend you in real life out of both of your busy lives.

And he was so lovely so cute how could you not fall for him. It's been two years of you knowing him and you've always reminded yourself like a warning since then that don't fall for him, you knew all the risks of it also you knew he sees you as nothing but bestfriend. Of course your mind wondered on the 'what if?' path but all your hopes crumbled whenever he asked you about some advices whenever he likes someone , whenever he showed you the girl he likes.

So you can say you're working on it, you feel it's unfair that you see your bestfriend that way it somehow feels wrong. Despite everything every feeling you support him the most. You wish only best things for him you'd want nothing but happiness to come his way .

So yeah you're trying to move on from your feelings..you never let them take a full form of love you always kept denying them whenever they started to kick in ... in the moments where he talks for hours with stars in his eyes with that adorable smile on his lips..then you remember you have to try harder.

On the other hand there's mingyu.

You guys aren't that close but have met each other through the parties and all by chan and few of the other members . You've met all of them, they know you as well of course their maknae talks about his amazing bestfriend with them so they know.

Mingyu has seen you, observed you, heard about you from chan in these 2 years. And he doesn't even know when it started but he feels a pull at his heart whenever he sees you. He finds you adorable the way you smile ,the way you laugh and how your eyes disappear while doing so...it's safe to say he's sure he likes you. He doesn't know how to say it to you coz obviously you guys aren't that close.

He hangs out with chan pretty often coz they're the drinker duo out of them as the members say.

It's a day like that when he asks dino about you.

"how is y/n?" Mingyu tried asking as casually as he can. Chan was filling their glasses then he replied "yeah she's good I just met her yesterday"

Mingyu decides to be direct it's just his little brother anyway so he asks " Chan do you like her? Are you guys like a thing?" Chan almost chokes on his soju "Noooo hyungg what are you saying, I know we look so close but we're just bestfriends nothing else, I've never thought of her like that and I bet she hasn't either."

Mingyu raises a brow at that "How can you be so sure what if she likes you?", Chan shakes his head " No hyung I'd know I'm her bestfriend it's nothing like that chill ...why are you asking anyway"

Mingyu is looking at his glass shaking it in circular motions chan observes him for a second and screams "OH MY GOD YOU LIKE HER DON'T YOU? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL MEEEE" Mingyu scolds him for screaming so loud "Why are you screaming omg, and uh what if I say yes what if I like her? Like is she single ? Do you think you can do anything about this?..."

Mingyu is blabbering so chan shuts him off, "ok yeah I'm so happy to hear that you can't imagine and don't worry she's single I could set you two up oh my god I can't believe..." This time mingyu stops him ,"ok ok calm down you're going too ahead right now we don't even know if she'd be interested."

Chan assures him , "Hyung don't you trust your brother ? Don't worry leave it all on me."

You: Why your yo sounds so excited chan? Should I be scared?

Dinosaur 🦖: Oh you finally replied..are you free to talk now should I talk??

You: yeah going home I'm in taxi

Dinosaur 🦖: ok so remember how you always cry about being single and I tell you you should date people and then you tell me good people are so rare and all

You: Dude why you attacking me like that wtf are you saying

Dinosaur 🦖: I've a good person for you,I've a good offer and you can't say no.

You: No ..I can and I'll say No you can't force me🤷🏻‍♀️

(Ouch so this one stung you never thought your crush would try to set you up with someone haha )

Dinosaur 🦖: come on y/n do you want to die single you aren't even trying this guy is real nice I promise..do you not trust me.

You: I trust you chan it's not about that

Dinosaur 🦖: THEN SAY YES PLEASE SAY YES I WANT TO SEE YOU HAPPY [ Say yes or I'm not your bestfriend and I won't meet you I'm serious..say yes]

You: don't be mean chan

Dinosaur 🦖: SAY YESSS ..yk I want you to be happy and have fun in life

You sighed, you knew he won't stay still until you say yes to whatever his offer is ..also you promised yourself you'll move on you'll think about your happiness you don't want to drown in self pity.

So you decide to say yes.

You: FINEEE... Atleast tell me what your offer is who that person is

Dinosaur 🦖: You said yessss ilyyyy😭🕺🏻❤️also yes the offer.. it's a blind date and the person is someone very nice and handsome and may be your type that's all you're getting. Be at Heaven's cloud cafe on 7PM Saturday and don't be late

You: Do i know him?

Dinosaur 🦖: Nice try I'm not telling

You: whateverrrr also you didn't even ask if I'll be free and you planned everything ?? Wahh that's so rude btw

Dinosaur 🦖: It's weekend and you don't have any other cool fun friends other than me so yeah ik you'll be at home stuffing your mouth with fries and watching dramas

You huffed at his reply

You: I regret saying yes now😃

Dinosaur 🦖: you don't have any other choice also on Sunday my treat because now I feel bad for attacking you with facts it was a lil harsh

You : You just meet me I'll turn you into pulp you better be prepared

You: yeah ok bye will see you if I stay alive after all the anxiety I'm gonna go through tomorrow

You sighed as you reached home ...you feel more tired suddenly ..it's been a long time since you went on any date infact you haven't even had your first boyfriend yet ...just some failed dates so your anxiety will eat you up real good for tomorrow's date . Tho the fact that it's a blind date is somehow relieving to you like you don't know that person and chan says he's a nice one so you hope it'll go well.

It's Saturday and for the whole day you're thinking about the blind date, the nervousness has started to kick in. You decided on a comfortable yet pretty outfit which is pistachio green blouse & below knee skirt and a white fluffy jacket. Cherry red lipstick and very light make up.

Chan called you earlier to check up on you he knew you'd be anxious, you couldn't help but the thoughts bubbled up "is he as good as you're?" "Will he care about me the way you do? "

You had an inner battle over this you tried preparing yourself for the date but then your girl bestfriend back home called you ..you had told her everything ofcourse she knows everything she's the only one who also knows about your crush on your bestfriend.

She encouraged you to go on that date and reminded you how you deserved it how much you needed it so yes you made up your mind again and got ready for the date.

Seventeen with a s/o who works on an animal farm

Synopsis: what would seventeen’s reactions be like when you tell him you work/ live on an animal farm in the countryside. Svt x gn! reader | fluff | approx. 3950 words | no warnings | requested by anon

🍒 Seungcheol is extremely fascinated when you tell him.

Two thoughts immediately come to his mind. First, what do you do on the animal farm and is it a lot of work? Second, he thinks of you lying in a field being surrounded by fluffy animals. You’re already the cutest bean ever but you and animals? He doesn’t think his heart can take that sight.

When you do get a chance to bring him back to the farm, seungcheol follows you around to get a sense of what you do. What needs to be done, which animals need more care, how do you feed them. He knew you worked hard but seeing you in your element and how much work goes into working on an animal farm? He falls in love with you all over again. To help, he becomes your handyman. It’s a farm, equipment and fencing can break down. He fixes everything for you. He even builds you a whole new chicken coop. He doesn’t want you to get hurt by the stiff wires.

Seungcheol’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The chicken coop. He built it. You can find him there gathering eggs in the morning. He even starts feeding them with a special blend of food. He did research on what would be best for the chickens to keep them healthy. So, the chickens adore him. The rooster? Not so much. It tried asserting that the coop was its territory and flew at seungcheol. He just grabbed it in one swoop and now the rooster is really scared. Anyway, of course, the coop is called coup’s coop.

😇 Jeonghan lets out the most adorable squeal and giggle when you tell him.

Listen, jeonghan loves anything cute. Pet rocks, dino, fishes, animals, you. He’s so excited when he finds out. He asks you a million and one questions on what life is like working there. What kinds of animals do you have? Are there baby animals? Can he go visit the farm? Actually wait. Can he move there? You can become that animal farm owning couple.

Jeonghan actually hops and skips out of the car when you arrive. He makes a beeline for the animals. His excitement is so contagious because you both skip around the farm hand in hand as you give him a tour. He looks at you with stars in his eyes when you tell him about each of the animals and what their names are. You’re just so caring and gentle. You even manage to notice the tiniest details like how petunia the pig has a flower shaped mole on her right leg. His days with you on the farm are some of the most relaxing days of his life. He’s surrounded by adorable animals and you!

Jeonghan’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The brooder! It’s where the baby chicks are. He actually got to witness the chicks hatching and fell in love there and then. He goes to check in on the chicks at every chance he gets. They’ve actually imprinted on him. When the chicks get a little older and they can roam around, they follow him in one straight line. The happiness on his face makes you forgive him for abandoning you when you’re doing chores to go play with the chicks. It’s one of the most adorable sights you’ve ever seen!

🦌 Joshua makes heart eyes at you when you tell him.

He knows you have an incredibly warm heart, but to know that you work with animals? It does something to him that he can’t explain. You’re like an angel. He listens so attentively when you tell him about your life working on the animal farm. Joshua’s from LA so there is a pretty big difference in your lifestyles. He wants to be able to mould himself to your lifestyle.

He is a gentleman. He carries all the heavy pails and other things that needs to be carried when you go about doing your chores. The feed, water, milk from the cows, barrels of hay. He’s doing it for you. He knows you can do it since you do manage it when he’s not around. But you don’t have to when he’s around. He loves being around you and watching you in your element. The gentleness you exhibit when tending to the animals, the way the animals adore you. He loves that you just walk up to the fence and the fluffy animals are running towards you. He learns about your life and how he can help you by observing you. He sees the animal farm in his future afterall, one he sees with you.

Joshua’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The bunny enclosure! Joshua adores bunnies. They are so small and cute. They run around, they can act crazy. Best of all bunnies love snuggles. Joshua spends his time feeding the bunnies. He hops around the field with them. He lays on the field surrounded by the pretty flowers cuddling the bunnies. You have to say though, as adorable as that sight is, you’re kind of jealous at how much attention the bunnies are getting.

🐱 Junhui starts smiling like the Cheshire cat when you tell him.

You live somewhere with animals. In the countryside. Where there are vast open fields. THAT’S PERFECT! HE’S BEEN WANTING TO PERFECT HIS ANIMAL IMPRESSIONS. He shows you his many impressions of the cows, alpacas, horses, cats etc. Definitely would ask you to rate them and give him feedback.

He’s like an excited child when you arrive. He’s also so inquisitive. Besides doing his animal impressions, much to your amusement, he asks about everything. He wonders what food the animals eat and if it’s tasty. He wonders how you take care of the grumpy bulls and if they will charge at him if he wears red. He has that childlike wonder when he’s exploring your farm. He coos at all the animals because everyone is cute. He finds all the nooks and crannies of your farm that even you didn’t know about. He also falls in love with feeding the animals. He basically takes over your job of feeding them. He even bottle feeds all the babies for you. You do have to pull him away from taking bites out of all the carrots though.

Junhui’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The pasture where the sheeps graze. He fell in love with the fluffy sheep and the shepherd dog. He starts trying to pick up all the sheep and the shepherd dog like how wile e coyote picks up sheep. He just wants to spin them around. He manages to do it with the smaller, lighter sheep somehow. Why he does it? You never know. It’s junhui, his actions don’t make sense half the time so you let him be. But one day he finds himself being watched by your neighbours. He just stares at them with the o.0 expression before putting the sheep down slowly and running away.

🐯 Hoshi lets out the loudest scream of excitement when you tell him.

His s/o? Working on an animal farm? You’re the coolest person ever! Can you talk to the animals? Are you an animal whisperer? Are there tigers? You chuckle at his enthusiasm and his pout when you tell him you only have an orange cat that has a few black stripes. He does light up when you tell him that you’ve named the cat Soonie.

He’s vibrating in excitement when you bring him to the animal farm. He’s a tiger. He can speak to the animals. He goes around introducing himself to all the dogs, cows, cats, horses, fishes, pigs, rabbits etc. They look at him questionably and expectantly. Usually people pet them, feed them, and coo over how cute they are. But this crazy person is just growling at them softly and using his hands like a paw. He tries his best to learn their names and have conversations with them as he follows you around when you do your chores. You could be milking the cows and hoshi would be trying to talk to the cows about how he thinks tigers and cows could be great friends. Like those lions and dogs! It’s funny and really endearing.

Hoshi’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The alpaca and llama enclosure. To be honest, it’s not his favourite spot but it’s where he is a lot of the time. You see when he was growling at the alpacas, one of them took it as a challenge and spat at him. Hoshi was so offended so now he makes it a point to go back there and scream (softly) at the alpaca who spat at him. Don’t worry at end of the day, they are best friends. Right? That is, until the alpaca spits at him agaim…

🐈‍⬛ Wonwoo smiles at you adoringly when you tell him.

He can see the passion in your eyes as you tell him about the animals on the farm. How you’ve raised them from when they were little, to the losses that you’ve had to endure. The good times and the bad. You embrace all the experiences with an open mind. You learn from the past to make sure that your animals can lead the best lives.

Okay, he’s not going to lie. He’s a little apprehensive when you bring him to the farm. It’s not that he doesn’t like the countryside or animals. It’s more that he doesn’t know how to help you. This is your territory, your area of expertise. He just feels out of place, that's all. So. You take him by the hand and guide him around the animal farm. You explain all your chores to him and reassure him that he’s there to watch and relax. He doesn’t need to help you. That gets him to loosen up a little. He loves watching you go about your day. He even starts taking photographs of you and the animals throughout the day. His favourite is the one where you smile at him, half covered in mud after tending to the pigs. It just shows your love for your job regardless of how messy it is.

Wonwoo’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Wherever the cats are! It’s no secret that wonwoo adores cats. You don’t really own the cats? However you do have a little area where strays can come for shelter and food. Wonwoo might not be able to help with other parts of the animal farm, but he finds comfort and solace in taking care of this area for you. He practically adopts all the cats as his own and becomes the cats’ father. The only thing is that you do find your cat area overflowing with strays after some time. Still, wonwoo looks so happy and fulfilled that you can’t bear to make him shoo some of the cats away. You simply expand the cat area after this.

🍚 Woozi nods along silently taking in your words when you tell him.

Don’t get him wrong. It’s not that he isn’t supportive or proud of you. He really is. When you tell him you work on an animal farm, it’s more of an “ah okay” moment for him. It’s just a part of who you are and he’s going to accept that. He’s not one to overreact (ahem unlike some people). Of course he is interested, who wouldn’t. Especially since you’re both complete opposites in this respect. His job requires him to be indoors all the time and he hardly sees the sun. But you’re outdoors all the time.

You definitely drag him to see the farm and your animal babies. One, to get him some vitamin D. God knows his skin is as pale as a sheet of white paper. Two, to get him away from the hustle and bustle of his everyday life. Working on an animal farm isn’t easy and you are busy. But to some extent life doesn’t seem so overwhelming or fast paced when you’re surrounded by animals. You get him to enjoy the surroundings, listen to the sounds of nature. You get him to help you out when you’re milking the cows and feeding the baby lambs. You help him to take a step back from his technologically filled life and to enjoy a different way of life.

Woozi’s favourite part on the animal farm? Surprisingly? The barn. You can often find him sitting under the trees next to the barn watching the horses run free across the field. There’s something liberating and freeing about watching them gallop. Bonus, the barn has great acoustics. He will go there when he finds inspiration to record a short piece of music. He’s practically made a nest for himself in the corner of the barn among the hay and saddles. Yea, you might have to drag him out again before he locks himself in, and the horses out.

⚔️ DK literally beams when you tell him.

You swear you were blinded at dokyeom’s smile when you told him you work on an animal farm. He said he could tell you have an affinity for animals the way you always stopped by at the animal shelter near his house to say hi. He’s so enamored by the way you interact with animals and the way they always calm down when you’re near.

Dokyeom practically drags you back to your animal farm. He’s more excited about it than you are. He’s so ready to get suited up to help you. And he does! Specifically, he’s the designated lucky charm of the farm. He visited during the season when several animals were going to give birth. He witnessed the birth of several sheep, two calves, one donkey, and one horse. It blew his mind, and yours. There hadn’t been a time when there were so many births at once, and everything went smoothly? There were no complications at all. So, he gets to name all the new babies. He is the official godfather. He actually hangs around the babies more because he likes watching as they start to walk. It’s cute and funny. You can hear him laughing from across the farm on most days.

Dokyeom’s favourite spot on your animal farm? Anywhere the baby animals are! He is a sunshine baby. The animals adore him and they love his presence. Usually the parents of the baby animals are quite protective, but they will let dokyeom, and only dokyeom near their babies. There’s even a little lamb that keeps following him around. You’ve definitely sang dokyeom had a little lamb to him more than once.

🐸 Minghao smiles knowingly at you when you tell him.

There’s something about living in the countryside that is so peaceful. When minghao watches you describe your life, surrounded by lovable animals and nature, he understands why you love it. Life in the city is so hectic and you’re surrounded by so many people. It gets overwhelming and it is good that you get to step back from that by physically removing yourself from that environment.

He looks forward to visiting your animal farm. He goes on strolls to take in the scenery. He loves that your day starts and ends early. You can enjoy the morning sunrise and evening sunsets together. While you go about doing your thing with the animals, he’s by your side taking pictures or painting. You are his muse. Seeing you in your element surrounded by nature is inspiring. Of course, he participates in some of the more exciting activities too. If you have to ride on a tractor to tend to the grass patches, he’s right next to you. If you have to ride the atv across the pasture to herd the sheep, he’s clinging onto your back for dear life. Life is about embracing all the new experiences whether it’s restful or life-threatening exciting. He enjoys watching the sheep being herded. He enjoys watching you run after the chickens and gather eggs. He enjoys it so much more since you’re here with him.

Minghao’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The field in front of where the sheep graze. The light that shines on that area and the scenery behind it against the hills or the vast emptiness of the fields is beautiful. He is entralled by the feeling of tranquility that being there brings him.

🐶 Mingyu’s smile and eyes get wider with each word you are saying when you tell him.

This overly excitable puppy of a boyfriend you have adores animals. Despite his large, large frame. He’s just a big ol’ softie inside. Plus, he imagines you all dressed up in overalls, dirt smeared on your cheeks wearing a straw hat. He can’t help it, you said farm. That is the image that is going to be in his head.

You bring him back to the countryside to see the arm. His eyes are so full of stars when he looks around. He pokes at your arm and grabs onto you tightly as you show him all the animals. He coos at all the smaller animals. But he’s slightly frightened by the larger animals like the bulls, donkeys and alpacas. He insists they are out to get him. Nonetheless, he goes with you when you’re doing your chores. He wears mud boots, and overalls. The only issue is he’s so excited to help you that he is extra clumsy. He runs after you and keeps slipping on the muddy fields. You end up having to abandon your chores to help him clean up. He’s so sulky and whiney that he’s so clumsy. Still, he tried helping and that’s what counts. He made all the mundane tasks of feeding the animals, gathering the eggs, milking the cows more enjoyable.

Mingyu’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The pond! Listen. Large mingyu x tiny things is my roman empire. I imagine that he’s just so fascinated by the ducklings. He waddles after them in a line and it’s so adorable. His affections are definitely returned because you will see him sitting surrounded by the ducklings.

🍊 Seungkwan has mixed feelings when you tell him.

On one hand, he’s fascinated and so happy at the fact that you work in the countryside because it’s similar to Jeju Island which is where he grew up. You have that in common. Plus, he’s really excited about you being an animal whisperer. Maybe you can tame Hoshi? On the other hand, he’s kind of scared. He is a natural worry wrought and he is worried he won’t be able to adapt to your lifestyle.

You put his worries at ease when you bring him to the animal farm. He finds the routine and the scenery really healing. It’s a break from all the unknown that comes with his life as an idol. He’s incredibly interested in how you administer medication to the animals and how you can tell when one of them isn’t well. Also, he’s not going to lie, he was scared that the animals wouldn’t like him or that they will spit at him, god knows Hoshi has done it before. But he comes to realise that he is really good at handling the animals that do spit - alpacas, llamas. They are somehow just drawn to him and he loves feeding them. They also kind of remind him of seungcheol when they are eating so he can’t help but take a million pictures to send to the seventeen group chat.

Seungkwan’s favourite spot on the animal farm? The fields right at the far end of your farm. It’s a big open area where you sometimes let the animals run around. Most of the time, it is just empty space because it backs up onto someone else’s property. He loves strolling there. Actually, he will 100% suddenly break into song singing the hills are alive with the sound of music. It’s hilarious and it brings him so much joy.

🐻‍❄️ Vernon’s brows furrow when you tell him.

You don’t have to be worried though. He’s deep in thought about how much fun he’s going to have with all the animals. He wants to ride the horses, play among the sheep, maybe even roll around in the mud with the piglets. You laugh at the serious expression he has on his face, and you promise that he can be one with the animals.

Vernon is actually one of the best people with the animals on your farm. He’s a natural. He learns the ropes quickly during his time there. When he’s around, you don’t need to take on so many things. He soon takes charge of going with the shepherd dog to herd the sheep. And he milks cows really well. He even helps your neighbours when they are really busy. Your whole community has practically adopted him by the end of his time there. You’ve probably joked that he might be better at this than you are. Like, how is he able to get that one annoyingly difficult, fat sheep to stay still enough when it was time to be sheared you will never know. It’s probably Vernon magic.

Vernon’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Everywhere! He just loves the entire place. The only thing is, he gets easily distracted by all the animals that actually aren’t yours. Obviously, it’s a farm, there are going to be wild animals randomly coming in. Mostly birds, insects. Vernon makes friends with all of them. He’s practically best friends with this one loud bird that loves to squawk early in the morning.

🦦 Dino decides that this is his chance to show off when you tell him.

Dino is really confident (maybe overly confident?) in his ability to help you when you tell him. He swears that he will be able to help you with all the chores and how much the animals will love him. He says that he’s been living in a zoo for the past 10 years. If he can deal with his 12 members, he can deal with the animals.

He definitely listens so intently when you explain to him what you want him to do on the animal farm. It’s nothing too major. He’s still new at this. So all he has to do is go around, get acquainted with the animals, check on how much water is in their water troughs, and how much food the animals have. Especially those that actually need to be fed some kind of grain or food mix like the birds and bunnies. He takes his task so seriously and returns with no problems. So, you give him some extra responsibilities like taking the grain to the different birds. You have geese, chickens, and ducks. Dino soon realises that these birds do not like him. He swears it is an alternate universe like during the debate night gose when seungcheol said he would become a bird to haunt dino. Because, the geese love to chase him for some reason? Everytime he goes remotely within 10 meters of them, they start honking and flapping their wings aggressively. Maybe he isn’t cut out for this?

Dino’s favourite spot on the animal farm? Your farmhouse. He’s safe from all the geese there. He’s been pecked at, gotten feathers stuck in his hair, and he’s been pooped on several times. You have to reassure him that geese are naturally territorial. He insists the geese are out to get him. Sighing, you just have to leave him wallow in his own self-pity. But on the day you are supposed to leave the countryside to go back to the city with Dino, a goose suddenly appears to attack Dino. Maybe they are really out to get him?

October/Novembre 1980 - Queen Story!

'Flash Gordon'

🔸“We saw 20 minutes of the finished film and thought it very good and over the top. We wanted to do something that was a real soundtrack. It’s a first in many ways, because a rock group has not done this type of thing before...”

👉 Queen's ninth studio album was the original soundtrack to the movie based on the comic strip character Flash Gordon. It was the band's first sortie into the film world and would prove to be their only full soundtrack album. Later they would write several songs for the first Highlander adventure in 1986, which emerged (in reworked form) as the album A Kind Of Magic, also in that year, but that was not a soundtrack LP.

The Flash Gordon music was recorded for Director Mike Hodges and Producer Dino De Laurentiis' $22 million remake of the 1930's black and white sci-fi film. Queen were first approached in 1979, and as writing film music was something they had all thought about but had not yet got around to, their Manager arranged a meeting with De Laurentiis and mentioned Queen's interest in scoring the film. Rumour has it that De Laurentiis' first reaction was simply, “Who are the Queens?” They were, as it turned out, the first rock band he had ever listened to and the outcome was that the band was commissioned to write the music for the movie.

Having just finished a lengthy European tour, and a further three week stint in Japan, spanning January to May, Queen spent the summer of 1979 working on The Game album, mostly at Musicland studios in Munich. It was during these sessions that they also started work on the score for Flash Gordon. Producing two albums simultaneously was not easy, but both progressed well. After touring, holidays and other ventures, more work on Flash Gordon and The Game followed in the early part of 1980, again in Munich, and then a U.S. tour commenced in June and ran through to October. After a well-earned holiday for most of October, Queen recommenced work on the Flash soundtrack in London and had completed it by November.

The music was composed, performed, arranged and produced by Queen, with the overall album credited as a Brian and Mack production. Like The Game, which was the first Queen LP to feature synthesizers, Flash Gordon continued the trend, though it features significantly more synths than its predecessor. Additional orchestral arrangements on the album were by Howard Blake, who also conducted the orchestra, and all of it was recorded at Anvil Studios. The orchestra features mostly throughout the film, to compliment Queen's music, though some of it did also make the final soundtrack album too.

Though some fans were dubious to hear Queen were recording music for a comic character-inspired film adventure, the album that emerged was a pleasant surprise on various levels. The music works well as an accompaniment to the visuals of the film, punctuated by sound effects and dialogue from the cast, including Max Von Sydow, Timothy Dalton, Topol and the larger than life English actor Brian Blessed. Any reservations among the fans were soon cast aside when the album's only single Flash was released worldwide prior to the album and fared well in the charts.

All tracks were titled after the appropriate part of the film each part was written for, and when hearing the album in its own right the listener gets a vivid idea as to what's happening in the story. The drama of the action, dialogue and over the top special effects, with Queen's distinctive sound threading through it all, is a compelling and greatly unusual blend.

Flash Gordon was released in the UK on 8th December 1980 – a day that will forever live in history as a notorious date because it happens to be the day that John Lennon was shot dead outside his apartment in New York.

👉 The album reached No 10 in the UK charts, achieving Gold award status. It was well received by the press and critics alike and each review of the film made a special reference to the music from Queen.

The LP was nominated for a BAFTA award and an Ivor Novello, and the film premiered in London on 11th December 1980.

Chapter 4: First dino, first faint

After all the meets and greets with scientists the previous day, you had discovered that some of the dinosaurs had... deformations.

Sighing, you pulled the mop out of the bucket of water and began to clean. It was disgusting. How could people just litter?

And to make things worse: it was in the viewing area of the T-Rex paddock. The juice on the ground and food made you gross out.

" How can people just litter here? Don't they know what a pain it is to get this area spotless clean?"

You furrowed your brows, angry and already pouting. Why was your first so messy? Not to mention difficult?

You huffed, ticked off by the amounts of gunk you had to clean. Especially the glass windows. They were filthy, full of handprints.

You swept the mop up and down the floor, dunked it in water and repeated the process. The water turned into a brown colour with bits of food and juice in it.

You wanted to throw up right there where you stood. However, you pushed through your disgust and kept mopping.

You were super focused on your task that you weren't aware of your surroundings. It was only after you had finished your mopping that you turned around and almost fainted that you became aware.

You froze, body stiff and heart pounding in your chest. Your eyes were wide as your breathing was shaky and panicky.

A massive T-rex head was by the glass, teeth exposed. Each tooth went from small to big and then small again. There was a sort of red mane on its head, like a lion. You didn't see where it stopped, your fear made you not move a muscle.

That wasn't what terrified you, however.

Six eyes, small as they were, stared at you blankly. Red scleras with yellow irises and black pupils.

You didn't dare move, afraid that the T-rex would detect your movement. But you hadn't hear it walk.

Were you that focused on your task? Questions plagued your mind, mind racing hundred or more miles per hour.

You stared at the dinosaur while it stared at you. It was as if it looked right into the very being of you: your soul.

You both didn't break eye contact. Not until it shook its head slightly and turned around. It began walking away, and it made no sound.

Now you could see its entire form.

Its mane started from the too and ended right at the end of its tail, black get that faded 1/4 away from its knee, white underbelly, red mane that blended with purple and black claws.

You saw it walk back into the small forest it had in its enclosure. Your legs felt like jello, heart pounding in your ears.

" Eh.. ha...ha ha..."

You nervously laughed before feeling like passing out. Thankfully, someone was there to snap you out of your fear.

" I feel like I am gonna faint."

You held your chest, using the free hand to support you against the viewing glass. You felt eyes on you.

Probably the T-rex watching you. You didn't even look behind you. Your heart didn't stop pounding, however. So, it was hard to focus.

" Hey! Get back to work!"

You flinched and turned around. You were about to say something but stopped when you saw a chest.

And he was right in front of you. He was absolutely tall. Maybe by two heads or more. You literally had to look up to face him.

A male with scars on his face, just like Salami, and raven hair with yellow tips stared down at you.

" S-sorr-"

" Who do you think you are? A new w- hold on. Who are you?"

" A-ah! I am Y/n... "

He looked at you, giving you a stern gaze. He tilted his head, a frown as clear as day on his face.

" The new janitor, right?"

" Ye-yes?"

It came out more of a question than an actual answer. He was silent, still looking at you before he sighed.

" Genya. Shinagazawa Genya."

" A-ah! Y/n L/n."

" You saw Kokushibo, didn't you?"

You were confused. Who was Kokushibo? The only thing you saw was the T-rex. Wait a minute.

THAT DINOSAUR IS NAMED KOKUSHIBO?! How were you supposed to know that it was the dinosaur's name?!

" The T-rex?!"

" Yes. The T-rex."

He stopped when he stared at you. Why was he staring at you? Why did you hear ringing in your ears? Why was his voice muffled?

Everything was blurry, and you fell back. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head before everything went black.

You felt arms catch you, and then nothing. No voice, no ringing, no vision, no nothing. All you saw was darkness.

Nothing more than that. You just... floated in the darkness. Or were you standing? It was hard to tell.

This... was something you had never experienced before. You had never fainted before.

This was... certainly new. You started your first day, saw your first dinosaur and your first time fainting. How nice.

Maybe you should've done the Utahraptor area first and not the T-rex. You didn't think that it would change anything, though.

Maybe it would've given you a better encounter. You doubted it though. But an outcome was an outcome.

You were curious to know what would happen next. You would only know when you woke up.

You had a sneaking suspicion that the T-rex had something to do with your sudden fainting.

This has never happened to you before. You thought of how, when you stared in its eyes- all six of them, you felt.

You had felt dizzy and full of nausea. Yup. It was definitely the T-rex. Or it had triggered something in your brain when it had stared at you.

It was a waiting game for what would happen next. Fate and Destiny had plans for you. Plans of which you had no idea of.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i started watching Blend S because my brother said it was real cute. I thought the premise was absolutely ADORABLE, so i did.

Then i start watching it and BAM! pedophilia! Then BAM! Fetishizing lesbians! I was so confused... where was the grumpy cook guy from before? I loved that grumpy cook guy! BAM! That weird Polynesian Maika joke from ep 7!

Anyways, the constant joke of calling the police on Dino, asexual Maika, and trans girl Hideri are the ONLY and mean ONLY thing keeping me going through this show right now.

Retrospective Review - The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

The title of this film has always bugged me because it feels like it is inverted. This is the first Jurassic Park movie that I remember having seen in a movie theatre. At the time, I loved it but this was clearly a step down from the original classic. Upon rewatching it, my feelings are pretty much the same. This is a fun movie, but it is a relative disappointment when you compare it to the first, especially since it is made by Steven Spielberg, who was on fire in the 80's and 90's. He could virtually do no wrong, no matter what genre he tried. Upon rewatching it, this falls into the category of movies where the Dino action is tremendous but the characters, not so much.

The film's opening sequence is actually fairly horrifying. The little girl being attacked by Compies and the mother's scream leaves a lot to the imagination as to what happened. The film doesn't waste much time reintroducing Ian and Hammond and the new conflict with his nephew Ludlow, then shifting the action to a new Island. The concept of the story is interesting, with InGen wanting to take Dinosaurs off the island and profit off them on the mainland, while Hammond wants to keep the island separated and cut off from the human world. The film's strength is that it moves fast and we quickly get the InGen team, led by Roland, who are capturing Dinosaurs. Rewatching I forgot that actors like Julianne Moore, Vince Vaughn, and Richard Schiff were part of this movie.

Where the movie starts to really get fun is when the baby T-Rex is kidnapped and then its parents track down the baby and send Ian's trailer over the cliff. That entire sequence with the two Adult T-Rex's is gripping. The scene with Sarah on the cracking glass that is the only thing between her and plunge into the Ocean is a damn good scene. Eddie's death is also really gruesome. The Dino action throughout the film is pretty killer. Its obvious that the technology was refined some more and there was more fluid movement of the Dinosaurs, and the Stan Winston animatronics continued to be outstanding. The blend of CGI and Animatronics was superb. There is an entire sequence of Dieter getting pursued by and then eaten by dozens of Compies. We also get a full Velociraptor sequence towards the end of the second act. The last act of the movie, takes place in San Diego. Its a lot of fun to see the T-Rex create havoc in an urban environment. Its like a mini Godzilla movie in itself.

Where the film falls short is in the characters. While JP had a lot of likable characters and even villains who you really hate, the main characters of this film aren't particularly likable with Ian and Roland being the two exceptions. Both Sarah and Nick come off as stupid and incompetent with both making decisions that put people in severe danger and arguably indirectly cause the death of many. Sarah claims to be someone with expertise in dealing with Carnivores but is stupid enough to walk around in a blood soaked shirt that she knows is not drying. Also, Nick basically vanishes after being quite prominent in the first 2 acts. Given his role in the earlier part of the film, it doesn't make sense that he's not with Ian and Sarah in the last act. Roland is an interesting character but Ludlow is just a punchable wimp. Ian's daughter, Kelly, is also fairly annoying. The film has some weird narrative inconsistencies. Definitely the whole idea of their being a second island without fences is a bit contradictory to what we saw in JP, where were saw that the animals were being born in Nublar. Also, while quite entertaining, the last act feels a bit out of place in context to the rest of the film. The film never really explains what happens to the crew of the ship that crashes onto the dock. I know they got eaten but how, given the T-Rex was still trapped. Plus, how did the ship sail so far. Its all a bit lazy, which you don't expect from Spielberg.

The performances are fine. Jeff Goldblum ably slips back into Ian. Peter Postlewaite is excellent as the badass Roland. Julianne Moore and Vince Vaugh are solid enough. Richard Schiff is likable in his role. Its always great to see Richard Attenborough back, if only in a small role. Vanessa Lee Chester is ok as Kelly, as is Arliss Howard as Ludlow. Peter Stormare as Dieter is perfectly unlikable and you get a satisfaction when he gets killed.

All in all, this is still a fun film, especially for a Dinosaur fan. There is enough Dinosaur mayhem to enjoy and it never overstays its welcome. William's score is nowhere near as memorable this time around. For me, this ranks as a 7.5/10
