The Secret History Fancast

Had a two hour discussion with a friend today about who we would cast in an adaptation of The Secret History by Donna Tartt, but we made it more diverse and took some liberties with the descriptions of the characters, adding more POC into our casting choices.

Richard Papen (OG unreliable narrator)

For Richard we chose Canadian actor Lucius Hoyos, who has recently played Young Gomez Addams in the Netflix tv show 'Wednesday'. Lucius was actually my friend, Green's, choice. They believed Lucius gave off 'Richard energy'. And honestly I'd have to agree with them. We also discussed that Richard would have longer hair (as seen in the image above) due to an argument with his father and growing his hair out to spite his father.

Henry Winter (The Academic)

For (My favourite) Henry we chose South Korean actor Lee Dong-Wook. The minute we saw this man in glasses and a suit we said "that's our Henry." Although neither Green or I have seen any of the media he is in, I have heard that he is an incredible actor. We also hyperfocused on his hair, and it is now canon that Henry has longer hair because he is too busy with his studies to get it cut, and he doesn't much care for his appearance.

Bunny Corcoran (The Deceased)

For our favourite dead boy, American Actor, Model and Musician Michael Pitt. I will admit I saw this picture on Pinterest while Green and I were talking about who we'd cast and I thought immediately; the eyes, the hair, the jacket; he's Bunny. I could really love to hate this guy.

Camilla Macaulay (Girlboss, Gaslight, Gatekeep)

When we got to the twins, Green suggested they be African American, and the first person to jump to mind was American Actress Lovie Simone. Her entire vibe screams Camilla, a sweet and slight girl who is also calculating and incredibly smart.

Charles Macaulay (Mansplain, Manipulate, Manslaughter)

For our other twin, American Model Mukasa Kakonge immediately jumped to mind, this photo of him has been sitting in my Pinterest for years. Almost everything about it screams Charles Macaulay. Green and I were in instant agreement.

Francis Abernathy (The Dramatic Bitch (affectionate))

Francis was a difficult one to cast, we couldn't quite find the perfect man. (We had a fight over why it can't be Timothee Chalamet, sorry Green I didn't mean to insult your husband). But then once again, Pinterest came to the rescue, and American Model Kevin Adrian seemed almost too perfect, (although both Green and I agree his hair should be longer).
