Blake’s right, you’re looking real tense.” Weiss’s eyes focused on her hands as she fidgeted, trying to come up with the right words. She silently cursed herself, this should not be this hard. A hand coming to rest on her knee drew her from her thoughts as she looked over at her partner, a soft-yet warm smile on her face. “It’s ok Weiss, whatever’s wrong, you know we’re here for you, right?” Weiss felt herself relax slightly, thankful for her partner’s kind words. “Okay, I do not know how to properly say this, so please, be patient with me.” With a reaffirming nod from Ruby and an audible “Mhm” from Yang, she continued. “The truth is...I have not been entirely honest with the rest of you. And for that, I am sorry to all of you, but mostly, I am sorry to Blake.” Blake looked over, confused. “Weiss, what are you-” Weiss raised her hand to stop Blake, taking a breath. “I was not at all kind to you when you revealed the truth about yourself, despite the fact that in doing so, I was being extremely hypocritical myself. Ive been hiding a truth myself, and after all that has been said and done, I feel I owe it to all of you to be honest.” Weiss took a quick glance at her team, Yang’s expression was clear confusion, Ruby was still giving her the same calming smile, while Blake had become more focused on her. Yang looked somewhat shocked, Blake still had her focused look on her, though it was clear she hadnt

You already apologised more than enough times for me to know you mean it. And I get it, really. Growing up where you did, I know that kind of thinking isnt easy to get rid of.” Blake shifted herself and stood up. “But, you’re wrong about something.” Weiss looked up hesitantly as Blake stepped over to her, kneeling down in front of her. “You haven’t lied to any of us.” Weiss looked taken aback, not sure what to make of that. It was far from what she had expected Blake to say. “I...I am not sure I follow.” Blake smiled at her softly, resting her hands gently over Weiss’s. “You havent lied to us, because you arent pretending to be something you arent. You’ve always been honest with us about who you are, and you didnt have to feel like you owed us to tell us.” She felt her eyes begin to well up, she knew they would accept her but she had fully expected Blake to be mad at her. To find not only was she not mad, but giving Weiss words of kindness and understanding as she had, it felt overwhelming. Said team was quick to embrace her as she felt a few tears flow, a small smile on her face. “T-thank you, all of you. I-I suppose I should not have been worrying so much over this.” Ruby gave her a gentle squeeze. “Well, worrying about things too much is something you’re best at.” “Hey!” They all laughed as they remained in their embrace, Weiss giving a gentle chuckle. Of course Nora has been right, she shouldn’t have been worried about hypothetical ifs and maybes, especially not with her team. A team that, day by day, Weiss would consider more and more her real family. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whooo boy, this, this was a tough one. Im proud of how her talk with Nora went at the beginning, I felt like I wrote that well, and yeah I HC Nora as trans. But writing her coming out to her team, I kept erasing and redoing parts because I really did not know how to do it right. This is one I feel like I should come back to when ive gotten some more experience writing.

Alright so forewarning this is LONG as FUCK specifically because i came up with this idea in early high school and was just today POSESSEd By the Spirit Of Musical Theatre to put it to paper— er Tumblr.

they meet Zoe in the parking lot

Zoe: I have Late practice today

Connor: whatever, gotta passenger.

Zoe: who the fuck would be crazy enough to trust your ability to drive?

Evan *being Brave*: Me Apparently?

Zoe: Uh, Evan Right?

Evan: yeah, uh, yeah.

Zoe *holding her hand out to be shaken*: i’m Zoe, we’ve met though right?

Evan wipes his hand on his shirt and shakes it: yeah, uh, nice to formally meet you, Zoe.

Zoe: i’m off, don’t kill him stoner.

Connor: i wont Princess

Evan breathing heavy: that was,, an eventful ten minutes.

Connor: oh fuck— you cool? or—

Evan: Panic Attack.

Connor: Right, uh

Connor: can you get in the car?

Evan: yeah

*car nonsense*

Connor: Can i start driving or do you want me to wait

Evan: Distractions are good,, Can Uh, Can you Talk about Stuff?

Connor: What stuff!??

Evan: any Stuff!

Connor: Is Zoe okay??

Evan: Sure?!

Connor: Uhh we don’t get along as well as we used to?

we were really close as kids, shes a huge asshole now but *fully venting now*

i kind of miss it you know? having someone to talk to and care about— and i still care about her— but its scary and i always fuck it up! not to mention the fact that our parents hate me— make her see me as some alien and not just a fucked up kid who wants to talk and — (more ranting that i dont feel like writing, but its a whole monologue bro)

Evan: Connor

Connor snaps his mouf shut: yeah

Evan: thanks

Connor: oh that, uh actually helped?

Evan: yeah focusing on your voice and whats real and stuff— it makes a difference.

Neither of them noticed that Connor was just sort of Driving. they end up at the park where in canon Connor commits Sewer-slide.

Evan: i didn’t know there was a park here.

Connor: huh, oh, yeah i guess i just sorta auto piloted, i come here to think.

Evan: About stuff?

Connor: Yeah, Stuff.

*the convo lulls*

Connor: do you have a laptop?

Evan: no, i uh, i left it at home? why?

Connor: give me a second

Connor walks to the car and grabs his back pack out of the back seat

Evan watches Quizzically from the swing-set

Connor pulls out a Sketch Pad and Pen, flipping to a clean page.

Connor: So tell me how to write one of those letters of yours.

Evan: uh, well you start like any other letter- just addressing it to yourself

Connor writing: Dear Connor Murphy,

Evan: and uh, my first one was supposed to be about my ideal summer vacation? since i started in middle school- but you don’t have to—

Connor: thats perfect.

Connor starts to sing for forever,

eventually Evan joins in there is a minor gay moment where they’re holding hands face to face.

the song ends with Connor hugging Evan.

Evan: its- its pretty late.

Connor obviously crying: just— just a couple more minutes.

Evan lets go and grabs Connors sketch book of the ground, closing it and handing it off to him: then how about this, labor day weekend- we actually go.

Connor: what are you talking about?

Evan: being spontaneous?

Connor: o-okay.

and it cuts to black.

theres a small montage here, as the set changes to Connor and Evans bedrooms

sincerely, me is a lament in this context, Connor and Evan are duetting from their respective rooms, writing to themselves.

(the lyrics are completely different and i will not be writing them here because thats too much fucking effort.

but they’re duetting from their bedrooms about making a connection to another person, feeling seen, for the first time. what it felt like and how they really want to keep it up but are afraid of making a mistake and ruining it.

its got some themes of waving thru a window, and a little bit of for forever, but its still largely the same notes just in a different key.)

after wards, Zoe knocks on Connors door to tell him dinner is ready to find him peacefully asleep.

requiem is the same, Zoe sees Connor as Dead to Her instead of actually dead, so some of the wording changes, so and so about how a monster doesn’t deserve peaceful rest etcetera.

school day happens, Connor doesn’t die, but the hot goss is that everyone saw Connor and Evan go home together after school, jared makes a shitty homophobic joke to Evan and Evan kind of tells him off about it. they argue and it culminates in Evan saying “well god forbid I’m friends with someone who isn’t YOU!” or smth like tht and it hits jared right the fuck at home man.

Connor says from the side lines: damn that was pretty hard core dude.

Evan: you have, no idea how long i’ve wanted to do that.

Connor honest to god l a u g h s, theres a number of people who hear it and lose their shit, Zoe being one of them: i have a pretty good idea, wanna get some lunch?

Evan: yeah, sure.

this general routine continues until labor day weekend, when they plan to go on their little escape. theres a short scene of Connor leaving the house with his keys and a backpack.

Connors mom confronts Zoe about his oddly upbeat attitude and hows he’s seemed differently lately Zoe Shrugs but decides to investigate his room.

she finds the letters. the first one is for forever, the theme plays as she reads it frantically, and is signed “Sincerely me (connor murphy)” so she knows its him, i f i could tell her begins but its a real duet between Connor and Zoe and at the end she resolves to try harder to connect to him.

Evan sings disappear to Connor after breaking into a formerly public park, in this context its him confessing that he broke his arm attempting su!c!de. Connor records it, for personal reference.

jared hacks Connors phone and steals the video, posting it to yt, in an effort to ruin their friendship.

Evan and Connor get in a little fight about it, and in the meantime Evan is called to the school to give an assembly because hes a phenomenal speaker and Disappear got like 1000000 views over night.

Zoe and Connor bond a little bit in a short scene before the assembly

Zoe: wheres Evan what happened?

Connor: Kleinman Did!

Zoe: what?

Connor: Why Do you care?

Zoe: because! you look happy around him!

Connor: i, i do?

Zoe: yeah? he could tell the worst joke ever written and you’d crack up. i haven’t heard you laugh like that in years Connor, maybe ever.

Connor: oh.

Zoe: Come back inside?

Connor: y, Yeah.

they all perform You Will Be Found together.

end act 1.

(no more dialogue from here i got tired)

to break in a glove is Connor’s dad trying to reconnect with him, it goes mediocrely, but Connor feels like hes being seen by his dad for the first time in years. its said in metaphors, but this is Connors dads way of saying that if Connor is willing to put in the work, so is he. they hug at the end, things are looking up. some talk of therapy is sprinkiled in the dialogue as they walk of stage together.

Only Us is Evan and Connor saying that they saved each other. its loosely romantic, as its a love song, but they don’t out right say that they’re in love or anything, they don’t know if theyre ready for that. its a promise. the song ends with Connor finally apologizing for pushing Evan over at the beginning of the show.

good for you is sung by jared only, as a power ballad, about losing people you didn’t treasure. its his attempt at an apology, but it ultimately fails, since jared is unable to take responsibility for his own actions. this is where jared and Evan go their separate ways.

Evan’s mom comforts him, as he sings words fail, which is about specifically jared, and how their rocky friendship is ruined and Evan pegs himself as the cause, instead of parents or perfect girl he uses metaphors that apply to best friends— maybe more. and talks about how he didn’t try, he was happy so he ignored that jared was hurting, and how that was really shitty of him. but instead of it being a generally somber song the end is lighter, because Connor is there— waving through his front window.

Evans mom sings So Big/So Small as Evan steps out the front door to embrace Connor and they mime talking about jared, hug and take hands. the house moves off stage in preparation for the finale.

Connor and Evan open the finale saying each others names, and sing it together as the test of the cast (minus jared) joins in, Evans mom taking his hand and Zoe Taking Connors, Evans mom the Murphys and Zoe break off to the back where Evan and Connor finish the final “all i see is sky for forever” while looking into each others eyes, and finish the musical by embracing (maybe kissing if thats ur jam).

Katsuki Bakugou- April 20; Taurus

the absolute SHOCK in my face to learn he wasn’t an aries

it would be expected that katsuki is a fire sign, like cmon look at his quirk

but taurus is actually an earth sign

taurus are typically seen as quite calm, but,,

katsuki does seem like a true taurus in many ways

they can be stubborn and unwilling to compromise

they are very realistic

i practically screamed when i realized shoto was a capricorn

it just makes way too much sense

they’re responsible, well-mannered, respectful !!!!

they love family, things of quality, traditions

and their dislikes vary from day to day

i must admit, i was surprised to learn ojiro is a gemini

but if you really look at his character it makes a lot of sense

gemini’s have a bad rep of being too faced

they’re actually one of my favorite signs!!

gemini’s are are gentle and affectionate

and sweet bb ojiro is exactly that

however they also tend to be quite anxious, another thing ojiro happens to be at times as well

they’re very adaptable people

this can be seen throughout ojiro’s training and how much he learns and is willing to continue striving for

gemini’s are very sociable and will talk to almost anyone

like, he doesn’t see hagakure but they’re still good friends

this is why i think ojiro would do great with a fire sign

i would match ojiro with a cheerful sagittarius

Denki Kaminari- June 29; Cancer

alright cancer number two!!

to be honest, denki doesn’t really give cancer vibes

but, his personality traits align to much of what a cancer is

tenacious and loyal

and denki is definitely that

however, cancers can be suspicious of others and their actions

and denki feels like the kind of guy to snoop on somebody

but we gotta give denki some credit

cancers strive to be there for their friends no matter what

denki shows this in the usj attack when he protects momo and jiro

cancers tend to avoid conflict but even so, they search for conflict in those who pose bigger threats to them

similarly to when denki makes fun of bakugou even though he could totally blow him up

denki is a chatty and flirty baby

and cancers tend to be most compatible with earth signs

buuut i think denki would be better suited with a fire sign

i’d match denki with an outgoing aries

Hanta Sero- July 28; Leo

at first i was like hmmm no

but then i used my brain and i was like actually yes

leos are prideful and while sero doesn’t seem like the boastful kind, he does have a lot of pride in himself

leos are very committed to their goals and sero’s actions show his dedication to becoming a hero

leos are also so funny?? and sero is literally one of the funniest guys of 1A

sero is one of the most sociable in the class and a total class clown

leos are almost always seen with their friends and sero is no different

sero’s vibes are just immaculate in my opinions

so his s/o needs to match the energy

i would match sero with a funny gemini

AND IT MAKES SENSE

not just because aizawa and him are married and he’s a cancer and it totally makes sense

but hizashi is such a cancer oh my god

he’s sensitive, and caring, and brave, and a literal pro hero

which is a cancer living the dream

cancers often have difficult childhoods and struggle immensely to find outlets

this fits with the theory that as a child, hizashi was put up for adoption and/or muzzled as a child because of his powerful quirk

cancers are ruled by the moon, which would make sense to why they are so emotional

because the moon goes through phases, so do they

hizashi needs someone that would help him be strong outside of his hero work and for his own mentality

ofc all might is a gemini

he literally has 2 forms

and geminis are literally two faced

Here’s the part 2! Ahah thank you for literally being my #1 hype man/woman/person since I started this blog like a week ago!! I’m really feeling the love :,) also here are answers hehe

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOKUBABEY!!” You whooped when you slapped the front door open. Bokuto came running down the stairs in only boxers with a paranoid look on his face.

“Calm down, we’re not burglars.” Akaashi walked ahead to set the snacks down on his credenza.

“HEY, don’t rule it out. I was watching this documentary the other day-“ You cut him off by grabbing his hand, earning you a surprised yelp from the owl boy.

“You really need to stop watching the videos Kuroo sends you, they all make you act some kind of way and we get to deal with the aftermath.” You frowned for a millisecond before flashing him a toothy grin and looking at Akaashi for reassurance. The latter nodded.

“It’s your birthday Bokuto! We’re doing whatever you like, we brought you snacks right at 12 o’ clock to experience your birthday for as long as it lasts.” Akaashi sighed, bracing himself for the incoming storm of excitement that would explode from Bokuto’s mouth in a minute.

“ALL 24 HOURS? WERE STAYING UP?” Yep, Akaashi was right. “I’ve always wanted my birthday to be longer...how did I not think of this sooner? Ah! What should we do? Good thing I took a nap! I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH.” Pulling you both into an agressive hug, there was a synchronized groan.

“Well (y/n) and I didn’t nap all day so you’re in charge of keeping us awake with all that energy of yours.” The black haired boy grumbled into the hug. Bokuto let go and placed a hand on his hip, “Deal.”

“Speak for yourself, Akaashi. I’ve done countless all nighters.” You boasted, locking elbows with Bokuto and walking toward the kitchen.

“You’re literally a baby. You nap in every car ride where you’re not the driver.” Akaashi followed.

You stuck your tongue out at him and he simply rolled his eyes. Bokuto looked to you then to Akaashi, sighing but shrugging off the mini argument. His owl eyes shrunk in concentration as he tried to figure out what to do for the next 24 hours.

“Okay!” Akaashi and you turned at his call for attention. “I’ve decided that the best plan of action is to start off with the light stuff like watching movies or homework if you guys have any and then we’ll do the intense stuff when we’ve been awake for a couple of hours and feel the sleep kicking in.”

“It’s smart to do more interactive activities when we’re tired but I’m afraid to ask what you mean by ‘intense activities’’” Akaashi mumbled, Bokuto chuckled ominously.

“I have twister! And we’ll make an obstacle course...” He continued to ramble on about the ideas he had and Akaashi and you knew it was going to be a long day.

Hour 5

Bokuto put on a movie for and you pretended to be critics and pointed out all of its flaws. Bokuto and you chortled at how serious Akaashi got about critiquing the movie- he really should’ve majored in film.

Hour 10

The drowsiness began to kick in for you but you refused to show any sign of weakness. Your eyes were peeled and you blinked constantly to keep the dryness from reddening your eyes. Akaashi, being as observant as he was and just looking up to admire you every once in a while, noticed but kept it to himself since he had to admit that it was amusing to watch you battle with pride about being a ‘professional staying awake person’ as you put it.

Hour 13

Twister time! And Bokuto was feral. He pushed you out of your place, making you lose, when his hip was beside your face and he bumped you intentionally (and he lied about doing that when you accused him). Akaashi lost on purpose and went to use the restroom but not before mumbling incoherently about Bokuto being a cheater.

Hour 15

At this point, Akaashi and you were begging Bokuto to do something not so physically demanding so that you could sneak in at least a few minutes of sleep. Your head was on Akaashi’s lap and he was so frazzled by it that he stuttered while lecturing Bokuto about the dangers of driving with zero hours of sleep.

“AHAHA you stuttered, Akaashi!” The owl boy teased and Akaashi’s face heated up, even more so when you nuzzled on his lower thigh to get more comfortable. A wave of relief washed over him as he thanked the forces of nature and whatever was out there that Bokuto was so simple minded, “the sleep deprivation must really be getting to you.”

You shot up at Bokuto’s words, “IM NOT SLEEPY AT ALL. It’s Akaashi, like you said, Boku.” You were not about to even be vaguely assumed to be tired.

“If we can’t go out, let’s do karaoke!”

You and Akaashi looked at each other and breathed in like exhausted parents trying to appease their hyperactive child. And at this point, that’s what you were. Only nine more hours.

Hour 20

CHAPTER 1 aka “Stranger Danger”

I’m rereading The Property of Hate by @modmad and overanalyzing it to hell and back because i can’t stop thinking about the story and getting madder and madder about the PUNS I keep finding. ‘The Hook’ is of course a term for the beginning of a story. Grabbing one’s attention and convincing them to go off on an adventure, so to speak

And now we get Hero’s speechboxes! They’re circular in contrast to RGB’s boxes, and colored orange. The balloon tails don’t loop-de-loop all over the page like RGBs but they’re not ‘standard’ either- there’s always this little jag to them closer to the text

RGB’s speechbubbles are actually one of the plainest/most conventional in the entire story

Excluding the tails of course. Those never ever take the most direct or efficient path to his face. Yeah, it adds an impression of silliness, but also speaks to the fact that RGB takes creative and weird solutions out of situations. I’ll laugh about the entire Click arc later but like really. REALLY. RGB DID ALL OF THAT

I love how Hero’s first actual words to RGB send him immediately into ?????????????. He keeps up this huge grin for most of The Hook and this is the first time his “I’m your friendly neighborhood TV nothing to see here!!” demeanor gets shaken up

the ladder hurts Hero’s feet, so why does she sleep on the top bunk? The bottom bunk doesn’t have any bedding on it so it’s not like she’s regulated to the top by any kind of sibling dibs

Weird... weird detail to be showing us modmad.....

“Are you a monster?” “the very worst one” that’s a lotta blue dripping off yer chin there, stop crying

The mom is a character for two (2) seconds and even she gets her own unique speechbox; blue, fuzzy and barely connected, which does a really great job of communicating that she’s basically still asleep without ever having to see her

‘happy boi about to bring newest kidnapping to the sky world’

That’s a Mary Poppins reference, that is. RGB exclaiming ‘spit spot!’ earlier also got be thinking of Poppins

Doors! Gotta wonder where they all lead. Gotta wonder if they’ll get more use past this outside Hero’s recovery Time

I’ve just spend like 15m trying to figure out what the symbols above the doors are and I THINK it’s alchemy? “libra sign upside down” is luckily an easily searchable term, and that symbol in particular is for gas becoming liquid

I think the door beyond that has the alchemical symbol for gold? I’m not having luck on the others, including the door they actually go through here/its sister door Hero opens after the Elastic Valley fiasco.

RGB are you pissed that you had to tell this kid your name yourself? Are you upset about manners?? She’s like 7 dude cmon have you met a 7 year old. Thinking about it, possibly not, all the confirmed Other Heroes are definitely older- they all come across to me as adults

well, actually, who even knows how old Assok is. They might be the exception

The little ‘peephole’ eye popping open when the right key is close is nice atmospheric detail, but it kinda makes me wonder if there’s a person like. Seeing out of that eye. Whether someone gets a little notification every time one of these doors is opened

It’s the World of Make Believe! Stupendous! Break-taking! Modmad is exceptional at colors and beautiful environments full of personality! Hero’s last chance to turn back is gone!

Hero only being awake for 20 minutes before becoming Instantly Tired = biggest actual mood, my god. Me too sweetie

Except I can’t blame trees. And a sort of magical jet-lag effect. Yo, are sleeping tree’s making you sleepy the same sorta thing where when one person yawns everyone yawns

I just really like how this tail loops around RGB’s physical actual legs. It makes it seem like speech is a tangible thing that interacts with the world and that you could, like, touch or something. all it’s missing is a shadow

God, fuck me. That’s the yellow brick road. God dammit. Son of a bitch.

RGB from the Market onwards: carries her multiple times (admittedly, almost always exactly like you shouldn’t), picks her up, swings her around, hugs her when she’s scared of the dark, ‘I Have Longer Legs, Hop On’ piggybacks, protecting her by putting his own bod in harms way, general Manhandling of Child

I kid, I kid, it’s more complex than that. For one, RGB doesn’t want Hero getting hurt cause she’s Important and has Heroing she can’t do if she’s injured. Second, that whole “don’t get attached” thing gets thrown out the window on like day 2

“I’ve only known Hero for a day and a half but if anything happened to her I’d kill everyone in this room and then myself”

RGB is honestly... super bad at not attaching to people. honestly, actually terrible at it

Ooh! Those flowers! I didn’t realize those always happen when Hero’s sleeping. They also look like she’s drawn them herself! That’s honestly… lethally adorable

ey, the tree’s look different in the light of day- all those blurry fairy light ‘leaves’ are gone now.

!! Hero glows the exact same way when she’s asleep! RGB, however, is not. Tree’s have leaves when they dream, huh

...we’ll come back to this thought when we get to the sick sun tree cause that thing is a whole other can of Lore worms

In a different direction, there must be some sort of difference between Tree Dreaming and People Dreaming, because dreaming trees do NOT trigger RGB’s weird stuntman nightmares

these particular trees are also see-through; i can’t remember if they’re all like this throughout the world? will have to pay attention and see

oh- OH. also just made the connection for why trees provide a saf(er) haven- bottled nightmares will very shortly be used to dispel fears. Dreams repel Fears! It’s best to sleep near tree’s because just you dreaming might not be enough to keep things at bay while your rest

And the chapter’s finished off with a new character and new speechbox to go with it! It’s the first to use a different font and text color to our main characters

Honestly though, what is UP with the Butterfly? It’s clearly keeping close tabs on them, and only speaks to Hero when RGB is unconscious or otherwise occupied. It clearly doesn’t wanna be seen by him, which is shady. It shows up like twice? And the other time RGB and Hero don’t even know it’s there and listening. Between that and the Eyes, like… does it have it’s own agenda and interests or is it an agent of Hate? Idk man maybe I’ll pick up on more Butterfly stuff on this readthrough

*notices that the plant it was resting on withers once it flies away* ... that’s no good. especially if that butterfly can do the same to trees

...... ah. it kinda can. Consider, please, Hate’s likely role in the demise of the Sun, and Her confirmed ability to smother them in [-----]

The dark void that rested your eyes and eased the movement of your body filled with nothing other than creativity of your mind classified as a dream kept you sunk into that state every human needed - sleep. Your energy absorbing body laid faintly against the couch where you fell asleep to the rhythm of heartbeats sponsored by the man that took yours for marathons - Seth Rollins. Only, he wasn't there anymore. He was wide awake preparing to leave for the job he paid sweat and tears all his life to live through. Your generated illusions of reality were broken by the sensations of his very lips against the soft skin of your forehead. Your eyelashes fluttered open, your eyes to adjusting to the morning light as you took in your lover Seth who was hovered over you.

He was already dressed and by the looks of it - prepared to take off to the endless roads that stopped at the arena his was to perform at. A exhausted sigh escaped your lips. When you heard the news nights ago, you had spent all the time regretting this exact moment to arise. "Awh cmon babe - not even a good morning" Seth chuckled at you - your first reaction to seeing him in the morning being a mumble. He knew you dreaded these days and ever so thought your reaction to his departures were adorable. Apart from him actually leaving his world behind he adored knowing that you loved him enough to not want him to leave your side. You sighed again as if exposed, your adjusted eyes meeting his gaze. "Good morning Seth" you smiled sweetly, a pinch of dread hidden in each corner of your smile. Seth's lips met yours in a deep yet quick peck, his eyes taking in the lovely essence of seeing your morning state.

"Hey now, that's better alright. Now come say goodbye to your boyfriend hm?" Seth's words were blanketed by his raspy voice as he took you into his arms, helping you stand up. "Goodbye ? Didn't I just say good morning " A chuckle followed your remark, the pads of your bare feet hitting the cold wood flooring below you stunning cold vibes throughout your skin momentarily. Once you were up you and Seth walked up to the door.

"What about a jacket?" You suggested trying to prevent Seth from leaving every second you could. He paused just as his hand went for the door knob "A jacket? I already have one on" he dismissed referring to the flimsy black jacket covering his arms making your eyebrows raise hastily. You knew that wasn't enough to keep him warm especially at this time in the day where it was just barely 30 outside. "Seth - are you- its cold as shit outside you need another jacket on" Your voice leaked assertion at the wild thought. You could picture him now running laps in place to keep warm - adding to fact that you wouldn't be there to take care of him... did he really think you were gonna let him go outside like that?

Your lips smacked, your cold feet gripping against the floor as you shuffled to the hall closet filled with all of the two of yous bulky or out of season wear, your ear filling with Seth's protests. Seth had worn the jacket all day and it kept him snug so in his mind it was a piece of cake for him to go out the same way. Your eyes scanned the aisle of hangers until your hands gripped the hook of a thick dark denim jacket, your heels turning to meet him. "Here wear this - even if you wear it over that thing it still matches what you have on " you nearly begged Seth who shook his head indefinitely. His thick bottom lip folded over his thinner top, brimming just below the tamed dark hairs of his beard.

"No, no, look - I'm from Iowa I don't need this crap - no look at this it looks like something from a renaissance fair" He dismissed, insisting he leave the house with only his Black and Brave track suit on. You giggled lightly as his stubbornness. When Seth thought he was right he was a hard man to persuade. "I mean thank you for worrying about me but your man's got this babe" He took the hanger clad jacket from your hands returning it to the closet, the spark of his soft warm touch filling your hands. His silky dark brown eyes gazed down into you, using the grip to pull you into his chest. You rested your chin on top of the muscular pecs, shaking your head side to side with another small giggle leaving your lips. "You're gonna freeze your ass off Rollins" and he was. No matter how 'Iowan' you were your balls could turn blue going outside in the current weather. "Nah, Nah, I got this baby girl" his voice was full of pride and dulcet reassurance , his lips grazing against yours inducing a passionate kiss, your cold lips lapping for each others warmth. Seth hummed off into the kiss, succumbing to seduction by the taste of your lips, the two of you inches away from losing yourself in each other until he forced himself away, his index finger pulling his sleeve back to look at the shining watch clad on his wrist.

"Welp babe, a man's gotta work" he stated resentfully it being 5 minutes over the time he was supposed to leave for his prolonged road trip. A sad sigh escaped your lips, heavy eyes hitting the floor, the realization that he actually has to leave setting in. The face of fact that you really had to revisit the cruel long for him that was put away when he came back home. "Hey now babe.." Seth trailed off softly watching your head fall. His heart pained seeing you upset and knowing he indirectly caused it made him feel even worse. Seth didn't like being away from you infact he hated it but it was the compromise for doing what he loved. If it was all up to him , he'd spend the rest of his days with you laying in the comforts of the warm duvet and blissful pillows of your bed all day long but he especially didn't want this to be the last expression he saw you with. His rough - velvet to touch skinned hands cupped the sides of your face, forcing you to meet his gaze, his face inclining forward so that his nose pressed against yours. "I'll be back soon , alright baby?" He contained his raspy speech to a low mutter, his words being more of a statement than a question. He too was also ass at saying goodbye to what he cherished as he was never the lovey-duvy type and often couldn't find the right words to say . His eyes swam desperately into yours - his ocean to search for the sign you understood his words so his mind wasn't flooded with worry that you had anxiety while he was gone.

Goosebumps glistened across your skin as if you could feel his emotions, as if you could sense how much he cared about you like thorns on a rose. The feeling he gave off made up for the lack of words his lips couldn't quite form.You found it in yourself to nod, a soft "Okay" crawling out the brim of your lips. You knew Seth had roads to ride, weights to lift, crowds to perform for, a universe to satisfy and didn't want to keep him from it selfishly. Feeling satisfied that you understood, Seth carried shame in a nod, forcing himself away from you. You took the chance to grasp the unpierced tender lobe of his ear with your fingertips playfully not being able to swallow anymore of the sorrow filled atmosphere.

Seth's thick eyebrows raised on top of his forehead in reaction, his face tensing into a playfully stern mask to hide his laughs. Laughs spilled from your mouth, knowing he hated when people touched his ears it being grounds for him to swear death in his eyes but in yours it was only an opportunity to throw him off. The most interesting rumour has just floated into the Nest. Its unverified (well duh, thats why its called a rumour) so well have to wait until the Astonisher plays catchup sometime this week. The Pie hears that the only two tenderers for the new stadiums ultra-lucrative catering contract , one being the incumbent Spotless and one being the Cowboys Leagues Club, have both been excluded for non compliant tenders to do with not paying award wages. So back to square one for the new stadium and where does that leave Spotless in the current stadium? Havent been able to verify Ms Sacilottos information, but she volunteered her contact details and phone number if The Pie wanted a chat about the matter (which for reasons well known to regular readers, is not a viable option since the recent operation.) But The Pie would guess there will be whole lot more to the meaning of community engagement when Mayor Mullet reads this. it is known that Jenny Hill does not like being crossed by people with legal rights who stand in the way of her grand visions, so this community engagement with Ms Sacilotto could involve nipple clamps, a car battery and wet towels . But That May Be The Least Of Her Problems Cant reveal too much at the moment, but our mayor is being officially investigated possible misconduct over her Adani links, particularly arising out of her trip to India. This will not be a revelation on her, because she has been informed of the issue by the Brisbane based investigating body, and what is officially termed overt inquiries are underway. It will be something that visitors to Townsville can Instagram, take photos of and sell the message to the world. Its going to bring new investment back to Palmer Street (question: how does new investment come back?) Weve had many restaurants close over the last 12 months, this will inspire new restaurant owners and people to come back into Palmer Street and be part of the precinct it once was. A world class destination? Matt, a message from The Magpie, mate lay off the cooking sherry and exotic herbs before talking to the Astonisher (FFS, mate, youre even holding your glass crooked.) The story also informs us The dining strip received some upgrades during the preparations for the Commonwealth Games last year. Oh did it? Very similar upgrades in scale to the ones now proposed , as The Pie remembers. So in the year since that spruce up, two Palmer Street nose-baggeries have gone belly-up. But somehow, this one is going to usher in a new era? Hows that? But heres the best bit in the original story, Ann-Maree Greaney said the lighting would keep people, particularly women, safer that apparent admission that the council has allowed Palmer Street to operate without adequately safe lighting for years has now been removed from the story. What fucking planet are you from, you lot? Reporter Chris Lees, have you no dignity? Or sober judgement? Did TCC media gopfer Simpo Templeton have anything to do with this, its about his speed? Why Can't WNBA Broadcasters Get the Players’ Names Right?

Atlanta Dream rookie Aari McDonald made a statement on WNBA draft day in April, sitting in front of a neon sign with the phonetic spelling of her name: “AIR-e.” She’d spent the NCAA tournament correcting journalists about how to say her name and she was likely trying to make sure people got it right from the moment she was drafted into the W. Now, two months later, it’s clear she had reason to be concerned.

This season, the WNBA is more accessible than ever before, with more than 100 nationally televised games. The league’s 2020 bubble season, during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, brought a lot of attention to the league, thanks in part to players’ racial justice activism, and because, for a while, the WNBA was one of the only sports happening. Viewing numbers for 2021 are up 74 percent from the 2020 season. But as visibility increases, so does attention on the broadcasters (the people whose voices narrate the game to television viewers) and the announcers (who call the plays over the arena speakers for fans in attendance). And that spotlight has revealed a problem: the consistent inability—or unwillingness—of broadcasters and announcers to pronounce players’ names correctly.

It’s unclear why this keeps happening. Teams provide pronunciation guides for all their players, and there are only 144 names to learn. This is an issue that we see happen much less often in the men’s professional leagues, even though there are many more players (and when it does happen, it’s rightly called out); it signals a level of disrespect that the male players don’t face to the same degree.

The mispronunciations are not happening equally; it is Black players, players of color, and international players that bear the brunt of these errors. “The way announcers continue to butcher players’ names in the W is especially concerning and very revealing as it almost always is a Black girl’s name that gets stuck in their mouths,” Amira Rose Davis, professor of History and African American Studies at Penn State University, told VICE. “Stumbling over Arike Ogunbowale while getting Sabrina Ionescu right is not about the so-called difficulty of a name. It’s about what names are deemed worthy of knowing.”

These mistakes are not without impact. A name is significant and holds within it a person’s culture, ancestry, and identity. Repeatedly mispronouncing an unfamiliar name is a form of implicit discrimination, one that has been referred to as “a tiny act of bigotry”—though the impact is far from small. Having a name that is constantly mispronounced can negatively affect a person’s confidence and self-esteem. It’s also reflective of the larger discrepancy in coverage of white players versus Black players, which is likely to make the white players’ names more familiar to fans and media members alike. According to a 2019 report, more than 80 percent of WNBA athletes are people of color and nearly 70 percent are Black, making these discrepancies even more unacceptable.

A CBS broadcast called the Las Vegas Aces’ Dearica Hamby “Erica Camby;” the Indiana Fever broadcast airing on CBS Sports Network on May 16 confused New York Liberty players Sami Whitcomb and Kylee Shook (because, I guess, both have long blonde hair). During one game I watched, a broadcaster butchered Betnijah Laney’s name so badly it was unrecognizable. And then there is poor Astou Ndour-Fall, whose name is pronounced differently on every broadcast but never the way she says it herself.

And it’s not just the television crews who are making this mistake. At the May 24 game between the Dallas Wings and New York Liberty at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the Liberty’s in-game announcer mispronounced Wings star player Arike Ogunbowale’s name for the entire game. The difference between a television broadcaster and an in-game announcer getting a player’s name wrong is that when the latter happens, the player can hear it in the moment. It can affect their mood and play.

Liberty fan Francois Monroc and his wife were sitting in Section 12 behind the Dallas bench and could see Ogunbowale’s frustration. “There was one moment when he messed up her name again quite badly and you could see she was really upset,” Monroc told VICE. “I saw her when there was a time out and they went to the corner on the bench and you could see that she was shaking her head.”

Ogunbowale didn’t let it go unnoticed, taking to Twitter following the game. “I’m still confused why the NY announcer said my name wrong for 40 minutes,” she tweeted. And she has a point. Ogunbowale is the league’s scoring leader; an announcer should know that they are going to have to say her name quite a bit and should practice beforehand.

The organization confirmed that the in-arena announcer received a pronunciation guide prior to the game. “The New York Liberty organization values the importance of correctly pronouncing all player’s names and will work diligently to get it right moving forward,” a spokesperson told VICE. “We will put respect on Arike’s name and the names of all WNBA players who compete in our arena.” (There was no official public apology from the Liberty.)

Other players and teams are also calling it out on social media when it happens to them. In May, the Bally Sports North broadcasters called the Sun’s DiJonai Carrington “Dijon,” like the mustard, when Connecticut played the Minnesota Lynx. “I know I’m a rookie buttttt y’all gotta learn how to correctly pronounce my name… cmon,” she tweeted after the game.

The Connecticut Sun’s social media account tweeted feedback directed at Anne Marie Anderson and Carolyn Peck, the Las Vegas Aces broadcast team, during their May 23 game: “Hey @LVAces broadcast, It’s NA-TEE-SHA. Not Natasha. Can you please correct?” And that wasn’t the only error during that game; the broadcasters also mixed up players, and they didn’t even get the team name right, repeatedly calling them the “Suns” (the name of the Phoenix NBA team). The Sun’s Twitter bio currently reads, “Hi, new friends! It’s Sun. Just Sun. Singular.”

Robyn N. Brown, the marketing specialist and team reporter who also runs the Sun’s social media accounts, told VICE she decided to tweet in the moment because she was frustrated, but also because she was back in Connecticut and it was the only way she felt she could get in touch with the right people.

The mispronunciation also came on the heels of other errors, Brown said. “Atlanta called [Natisha Hiedeman] ‘Natasha’ and changed Kaila [Charles] to ‘Kayla’ and I didn’t say anything. So when it happened again in Vegas, I can’t walk over and talk to anyone to let them know. Seemed like an easy way to reach a team is to @ them.”

Beyond just correcting the record, Brown’s tweets served a larger purpose: advocating for the players who were on the floor and could not do so themselves. “The purpose of my job is to elevate the women on my roster and expand their recognition,” she said.

Mistakes happen, of course, and no broadcast—or broadcaster—will be perfect 100 percent of the time. But the quantity and consistency with which these basic missteps are occurring speak to a larger, systemic problem. National Women’s Soccer League fans have been vocal about the same issue, lamenting that weeks into the season, players’ names are still being pronounced incorrectly on the broadcasts.

“When we talk about growing the infrastructure around women’s sports it has to include conversations about things like referees and broadcasters,” Davis said. “From the NWSL’s officiating inconsistencies to some of the things we have seen this season in the WNBA with announcers mixing up players or misidentifying them.”

Erica Ayala, a multimedia journalist who covers the WNBA and who has worked as a color analyst for the National Women’s Hockey League, told VICE that there are cultural norms and differences that come into play, especially when a name is unfamiliar to American tongues. But, she pointed out, it is part of the job to get it right. When she was preparing to call a game, she made it a point to ask the players themselves how they wanted to hear their names said—and, not infrequently, the way they pronounced their own names was different from the way the name was being said on broadcasts.

In addition to the pronunciation guides that teams already provide, Ayala says she would like to see teams take a few minutes on media day to record each player saying their own name. The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team does this, providing an audio sample of the players saying their names in each athlete’s bio. But, of course, the broadcasters and announcers would still have to actually use these materials for this to be effective.

For its part, the WNBA says it’s aware of the issue. “We are aware of the feedback related to issues with some national and local broadcasts of WNBA games,” a league spokesperson told VICE. “The league and teams are working together with broadcast producers and announcers to upgrade broadcast preparation and execution, and to commit to continuous improvement and achieving the highest standards.”

What that will look like is unclear. The WNBA’s coverage is piecemeal; the league has deals with ESPN, CBS, Amazon Prime, NBA TV, Twitter, Facebook, and a variety of local broadcast networks. That means that it doesn’t necessarily have control over who will be calling its games. In some cases, the networks hire their own broadcasters, while in others, the teams may have more input in who gets hired. Either way, there is no central training mechanism or single person overseeing the broadcast teams. Coverage is not centralized, making quality control difficult. But at the end of the day, regardless of which network is airing the error-filed broadcast, the product reflects back on the league itself.

“I would like to see the WNBA take more ownership—and the teams take more ownership—of making sure their players are hearing their names properly and they’re seeing them spelled correctly,” said Ayala.

Some teams are doing exactly that. The Atlanta Dream, under new ownership this season that includes former Dream player Renee Montgomery, invested in an all-Black woman broadcasting team made up of veteran WNBA analysts like LaChina Robinson and Angel Gray. And in the male-dominated world of sports broadcasting, women are much more highly represented on WNBA broadcasts than they are in other parts of the industry. That’s a huge win for gender parity, but if the quality of the commentary isn’t up to snuff for a professional league, it inadvertently plays into inaccurate stereotypes about women being less qualified for these broadcasting positions.

These missteps impact the fan experience, too. The number of fans taking to Twitter to voice their feelings about it makes that clear. VICE spoke to three fans who were at the May 24 game between the Wings and the Liberty, and all of them said they grew increasingly upset as the night went on and the announcer continued to bungle Ogunbowale’s name.

Steve Burton, a 33-year-old Wings fan who has been following Ogunbowale’s career since she played for Notre Dame in college, attended the game at Barclays specifically to see Ogunbowale play and was really bothered by what he saw as a sign of blatant disrespect. “This was the first WNBA game I’ve attended and the experience was really awesome,” he told VICE. “I’ll go to more games this season, but that definitely made me uncomfortable and marred the experience for me.”

“When I make a mistake, the goal is to not make it again,” Las Vegas Aces play-by-play broadcaster Anne Marie Anderson told VICE. “If I don’t catch myself during a broadcast, that is why watching the show back is critical,” Anderson said.

Peck, the Aces color analyst, also said she is committed to improving with each game she calls. “Every player deserves to have their name pronounced correctly,” Peck said. “I’m extremely disappointed in myself if I mispronounce a name and work very hard in trying to get it right.”

And Davis hopes the players will continue to demand the respect they deserve. “When we talk about athletes of the W being tossed breadcrumbs and told to feast, this is the type of thing that comes to mind,” she said. “Players are right to speak up and demand that announcers get their names right—and put some respect on it.”

RP.2 Ch.2 The island

Tread lightly, this one is dark

-.Ice.-

Ice faintly heard someone walking around. Strange, she didn't remember falling aslee-she got up with a start and winced when her head protested. The world was a blurry brown and green as if she was racing in the forest back in Maine while sitting down. She was off balanced and not the only one there. Zolotoy boy walked-stumbled around while trying to get a feel of the land and Ike was also on the floor but looked to be unconscious.

Is this the work of reality benders again? Or did we actually get to the mission and I just spaced the travel again? Ice wondered as she tried to focus her eyes.

The blurriness stayed to spite her. She looked up and saw the edges of a thick canopy that could only belong to a jungle. Now that she thought about it, the air did seem thicker but this was still cooler than Arizona.

Yep. Must be reality benders. Information did not detail this level of- either Zolotoy is unsatisfied with the way that he’s seeing things or he's actually losing it. Ice observed him punch a tree. He shook his hand off and went to another and punched it.

“What are you doing Zolotoy?” she finally asked.

The russian paused. “Lines are blurry, this helps.”

That doesn't sound right. Ice thought as she moved so that she was sitting upright. So-wait, why the f*** does my mouth taste like earwax?! Ice tried to get the taste off of her tongue and onto her shirt collar, but the taste persisted.

“Zolotoy I think we’ve been drugged.”

“No kiddin,” Ike grunted behind her.

She turned around. “Hey there sleepy stud,” Ice teased.

He sat up and rubbed his face with both hands. She stood and walked over to him. He kept rubbing his eyes with the heels of his hands.

“That tough eh?” she asked.

“Kind-” he looked up and past Ice. “A-are those trees?!”

“Yeah, have you not seen a tree before city boy?”

“Call me a city boy all you want but, I didn't know they can get this big!”

And I didn't know that people could get as big as you until I met you. “Have you never been in the woods?”

“There's no woods in Chicago or Normal. Tallest tree was a standalone and it was twenty- but holy f***ing quarks. I've seen tall trees in text books but I just never-” Ice had never seen this much astonishment at trees before.

“This is nothing Ground. Where I’m from you can't walk through the woods because of how big they are,” Zolotoy stated while walking to him.

“Are you serious?”

“Yes.”

Ike looked like he didn't believe him.

“Obviously since you’re feeling better, you take rear. I found a path,” Klesmolv stated while pointing to a opening in the trees. He started walking towards it when he stumbled and nearly fell on his face. Quickly righting himself, he kept going but with a rapier pointed at the ground like a cane.

How does he even store that? Ice thought as she followed.

-.Ground.-

“What are the chances that this is some reality bender’s forest?” Jo asked Molotov.

“High,” he responded curtly.

It's not. The monster’s thought rumbled through Ground’s head.

There you are you piece of s***. The f*** do you mean?

It's the work of Myunchers. You aren't even in the same dimension anymore.

The f*** do you mean by that?!

He was hit with a familiar anger and frustration from it.

Don't walk away you-!

“Cmon already Ike!” Jo shouted.

He blinked and refocused on the path that his team was walking down. The large trees surrounding the path were oddly welcoming. Their leaves coating the path in pleasantly cool shade. Which just made it more suspicious in Ground’s book. His hand fell to his side and brushed against the compact stock of his shotgun. He turned around, unfolded it, and walked backwards with it facing the way they came.

He heard a branch rustling. It increased slightly and a familiar scent caught his nose.

Smells like trouble. “Scatter check,” he ordered. He collapsed his gun before going into the brush. He paused and took in his surroundings, thankful for the uniform switch to a dark blue instead of white. The forest was much darker here. Forcing him to squint. Thick brush pressed up against his sides. Making moving stealthly difficult. Ground could just barely make out some of the bushes around him, and a female figure backing up slowly and quietly.

“Hi. Ground right?” She whispered.

Even though he had been identified, he decided to not answer and got close and personal with the earth.

“Ground? Grou- oh crap!” She backed off and started running. “Guys we have a hostile situation!”

She has friends. Need to cut her off. He thought as he charged after her. He zeroed in on her yellow skirt, the world around him falling to darkness. It ducked and weaved, trying to shake him off but, it's hard to be yellow when everything around you is brown.

At one point it went out of sight. Damnit no! He thought he tried to stop. But his speed was too great and his head collided with a tree, knocking him out.

-.Marina.-

Marina skidded around and scrambled up a tree. She hardly risked a look back as she heard him hit. Gotta get to the others. Gotta get to the others. She broke into the sunlight and headed towards the path. “Annilyse have you-”

“We’ve made contact. Where's Ground?”

“Rammed his head into a tree. Don't know what's going on with him.” Marina jumped onto another tree branch. She dangled from it before pulling herself up. “I’m heading back.”

“Okay. Keep an eye out.”

“Go shoo!” Marina shouted at a horde of monkeys. They shrieked and scolded her as they jumped away. “I will.” Marina headed down towards the base of the tree, then remembered that one one the trees had fallen. She sighed and went in the opposite direction. Hoping to find a way around. Two trees over, and she found a set of trees going where she needed.

“Annie get the others to the village. I’ll see if I can meet you there.” Marina radioed.

“Roger that. Any sign of hostile?”

“No. I’ll -”

The screams of several monkeys erupted and stopped from behind her.

“Never mind!” Marina jumped to another tree and started climbing. “I need a strike squad over here stat!”

“Melody is organizing.” Candice replied immediately. “Keep broadcasting location.” Marina felt the bottom of her earpiece detach and settle in deeper in her ear.

“Will do.”

The trees to her right started to shake and she could hear a thudding coming up behind her. Marina risked a glance under her arm to see a large, clawed hand grab the lower branches of the tree next to her. She didn't have any time to react as another hand appeared on her midsection. Marina cried out as she was yanked down through the tree top. The world spun and she was faced with a large open maw.

She shouted and splayed her hands. A large expanse of crystal sprouting between them and wedging the mouth open. The hand grew another finger and pinned her arms to her body as the head shook the crystal mass out of it's mouth.

Marina took the moment to breathe and clear her head. She didn't have long. Magic swelled around her forehead. The head snarled and the hand thrusted her into it's mouth. She screamed and lashed out at the wet flesh with a pair of crystal knives. Kicking at the top of its mouth in hopes of hitting its nasal passages. There was no effect and the hand pushed her into the throat of the beast.

-.Melody.-

There was a love-hate relationship with incidents. Love because at least something exciting was happening, and Hate for when someone got hurt. Like Marina.

Again.

“Talk to me, what are we dealing with here?” She asked, quickly handing Wolverine a metal vest.

“High intelligence, adaptability, and impossible to destroy by all current efforts. Now the last doesn't mean we can't kill it, it just means we can't keep it dead,” the russian hacker explained.

“And it took over one of your people right?”

“Correct unfortunately. Had a solid month without it intruding but...” She could tell that he was shrugging on the other side of the line.

“How do we break its grip. Wrong way Quinn.” Falcon blushed and turned his vest around.

“Prior data suggests that we have to terminate it while causing massive damage to it's body.”

“Looks like we’ll have to kill it before it can kill us. Annilyse that means you’ll have to be part of the team. Ace, how’s Marina's bio?”

“He’s whittling away at her ma’am. Doesn't seem to have an issue breathing though.” Candace reported.

“Keep me updated. Alright we have a limited amount of time.” She addressed the hastily assembled team. “We have a victim and a hard to kill reptile on the loose. Starfire, I want you and Wolverine to stall as much as you can. Help Annilyse to rip out as much of its head and upper body as possible. Falcon, keep tabs and snipe from the air. Cyborg, Phineas, Ferb. Set as many traps as you can. Just make sure they don't hurt the victim. Understood?”

“Yes Ma’am.” They all saluted.

“Alright now let's go!” Melody ran out with them. “Alright what can you and your friend do?” She asked the hacker.

“Seeing that we have our weapons limited drastically...But, I have rapier, AK-12, and dual 50 pistols. Companion has a 7.56 mm bullpup,” he reported.

“How about in way of abilities?” Melody started climbing a tree.

“Companion has decaying skin, I…” Melody could hear a muffled argument. “Have sharp shooting.”

“Alright. Tell her to go with Annilyse. I want you sniping as best to your ability.”

“Ten- vhat do you have?”

“We have an Angel who can heal and shoot fireballs. An alien who has an array of abilities such as invulnerability and immense strength. We have a cyborg, a mutant with swift regeneration and dangerous claws, finally two boys who are ingenious with machines.”

“You are planning to sacrifice children? We already tried that.”

“Actually we are quite skilled in fighting monsters. And no one will die under my watch.” Hopefully.

-.Marina.-

Slowly, the pain stopped. Marina tried to move her limbs again, only for them to feel numb. Probably not even there. She thought. Gasping as hot, fresh air was blasted in her face. Again. Why did he even preserve her like this? Surely-

Just focus on breathing Myuncher B****.

Marina cringed. That would explain why she wasn’t so hot anymore though. You’re in my head.

Breathe.

She felt it's claws close around her chest. Holding her delicately between the tips. She was no longer trapped in a sac, but unfolding to float limp in the darkness. It's claws holding her up above an empty void.

Breathe.

Where are you? I can't…

Breathe.

Can’t…

Breathe.

...see…

All energy left her. She watched the claws through half closed eyes. So big, so dark. Holding her light enough to be only uncomfortable. Her arms and legs weights on her shoulders and hips. How long? How long had she been-

The world jolted and suddenly the claws held her in a tight fist. Marina gasped as breathing suddenly became difficult. Hot, useless air. She clawed futilely at the talons as she choked. Slowly, they disintegrated around her and she was free falling.

We will meet again life Myuncher… it's voice was like a villain's caress on her cheek. Sooner than you think…

The darkness pulled away and she was surrounded by blinding whiteness.

When Marina pushed herself off of the ground and looked around she saw a dark land covered in dark metal and fleshy cones. Strange, lizard like creatures paced back and forth the area she stood in. A long path wound before her. One of the lizards stopped and looked at her, cocked it's head, and bounded down the trail. Slowly, she followed it. The path eventually became lined with teeth and fingers. The metal platforms seemed to be at war with their fleshy counterparts as they overlapped on innumerable occasions.

Someone is having a really hard time of it. Marina thought. Either that or he has a very dark side.

Whispers started around her. They were mostly unnerving babble that sounded similar to people she knew that Ground knew. Her own voice coming out in the noise. When she focused on it the words “No, please no” and “Why did you do that” repeated often and ran over each other at times.

Surprised, Marina focused on other voices she recognized. There was a few of the planetary crew saying “Monster” and “Take him down.” Dr. Gore was there, and said “Prepare to euthanize.” Marina also heard the raspy voice of Chartreuse, that bastard, order many scientific things along with devastating insults. Klesmolv was more of the same but more personal. And Ice-

“What are you doing here?” Ice asked behind Marina. The whispers quieted to a dull background noise.

“Are you real?” Marina replied, Stepping back.

“Why wouldn’t I be? Well, I guess I should ask how you got here because the gorgon, Melodi I think?, gave me an amulet that she said would let me into Ike’s ‘Mindscape.’ And I’m guessing that this is it?” she asked while looking around. “Why do I have the feeling that this shouldn't be it.”

“Well one part depends on Ike, the other on life. So it goes.” Marina shrugged. She lowered her fists and extended a hand. “I don't think we’ve had a proper introduction. My name is Mari.”

“Frankie,” she shook. “Well he sure did get rass helvíti by life. You still haven't said how you got here.”

“Well, the giant lizard swallowed me. Great way to get me to trust you guys.” Marina muttered as she turned and led Ice down the path. “He must have ‘eaten’ into me as there was this intense burning all around except my face. Kept blasting air into it so he probably wanted me alive for some reason. Anyway, he got into my head and forced me to breathe. Shown by his claws holding me by the chest. Then he took full hold of me, disintegrated, and told me “we shall meet again” before I landed here.” Marina dropped as the path wound to the right.

“Not to freak you out but, your back is missing.”

The teen paused, and twisted around to see it. Sure enough where her spine was supposed to be, there was a emptiness. The surrounding tissue was burned but it was just gone.

“Yes it is.” She observed. “Crap. That thing might have a hook in me. Be fun riding that coaster again. You had a look at my file?”

“Girl, I’m a mobile task force member, I don't have access to that. And speaking of coasters, before I got in here I was on the lizzard’s bucking spine.”

“Yeah, you haven't seen anything yet.”

“I would argue that I’ve seen a lot since I’ve joined the force.”

“Yes, but have you- have you ever been connected to a killer? One that reduces your body to a mere puppet, and replays its deeds before your eyes?” An image of Lightning appeared next to her. Code covering her as she shifted to look like Marina. The cruel, cold smile remaining. A knife held obscured in her hands.

“No and I think we should keep moving as the guy I know with the same problem feels like he’s just up ahead,” Ice said as she grabbed Marina’s left wrist and marched forward. Flipping off the illusion as it faded.

Marina allowed herself to be dragged, feeling foolish. Why was she so worried about proving herself right? It was childish and stupid. There was no reason…

She let the thought drop. “I’m sorry.”

“Look, we all have our issues but comparing them won't do anyone any good,” Ice stated as they came upon a clearing.

Strangely there was Ground laying on a sheet of metal underneath a flesh spire and another thing watching them from behind it. Ice’s pace quickened until she stood over him. He was missing his left arm and part of his chest. Ice kneeled and put a hand on his chest.

“While I try and get him up, check out that thing out back will you?” she asked.

“My pleasure.” Marina summoned a bo staff and headed towards the figure. It shrank back and hobbled away as fast as it could.

Marina relaxed her posture and expression. Using the staff as, well, a staff. “Hey, hey I’m not going to hurt you.”

It winced and tried to go faster. It tripped over it's bum leg with a yelp. Marina thrust her left hand out and it stopped in midair. “Easy. Easy…” she said. Gently lowering it to the ground.

It whimpered and Marina could get a good look at it. It was a sickly shade of grey with skin meshed with scales. It's gangly limbs were uncoordinated as it tried to crawl away from her. It was bleeding from it's open wounds on its left side. Multiple lacerations across it's back and tail festered with green puss. The right half of the head looked to have been caved in with a metal baseball bat.

“Oh...boy…” Marina approached it with her hands extended. “Uh, Ice? I think you're trying the wrong Ground.”

“The hell do you mean by that?”

“Well, in my mind there is not one me, but several. Each representing a different aspect of my personality. No matter how small. Raven’s and Melody’s are the same. Who’s to say Ground’s would differ? Besides, I distinctly remember being catlike one time.”

“What the he-”

The creature suddenly shuddered then dissipated.

“OW F***!” Ground shouted shortly after.

“Shite are you okay?”

“No, f***, the f*** did you do?”

“I, ah, accidentally slipped into your empty socket. Why is that anyway?”

“That would explain that.” he grunted. “It's hard to explain actually.”

“You can tell me later anyway, the gecko went rampant but it seems like the guys outside chased it off.”

Marina walked back around to where the couple sat.

“Really? All I remember was I ran into a tree.”

“Yeah about that. Why were you chasing me anyways?” Marina was tempted to fold her arms but decided against it. “Before you hit the tree I mean.”

He opened his mouth as if to replay but shut it in confusion. “I...really don't remember. I was walking 6, then I smelled something funny then it just… too hazy. I haven't killed anyone have I?”

“Walking 6?” Marina cocked her head.

“Rear guard, walking 6, same thing,” he explained.

“Ah. Also you might have killed me but only time will tell. Especially since Mel is involved.”

“S***, but wait. How are you here then?”

“All-destroyer gave me air for some strange reason. Fused with my spine, practically gave me life support, probably devoured my limbs but a literal bloodbath should heal that.”

“Ookay.”

“Well, it did have some pink armor this time around that was hard to get through. Gecko must’ve used you as a shield generator,” Ice nodded.

“I can- it can do that?”

“Apparently.”

“Ohhhhhh. I will probably be drained then.” Marina bit her lip. “D***. I really will need Gorgon blood.”

“Language,” Ice reprimanded. “How can blood have healing properties outside of transfusion?”

“Ask Melody. She knows all the bio stuff that goes with her abilities. I think it's part of the Medusa mythology though.”

“I haven't read any-” Ground started before the mindscape violently shook. Ice disappeared and Marina felt hands tearing at her limbs. He looked up at her before her vision went black.

-.Frost.-

I am not looking. Jack purposefully watched the upper body shrink and become more like that of a man. A large lump formed below its-his- chest. Making him look extremely pregnant.

Melody approached it with her shield at the ready. She pulled a hidden lever and blades popped out at its rim. Jack barely looked away in time, but couldn't help but cringe at the sound of tearing flesh.

“This is not good.” Melody said. Jack wandered away from the rescue group to where Klesmolv and the unconscious Ice were sitting.

“So, where are you from?” He asked cheerfully. I am going to be so busy tonight.

“Near Yekaterinburg, Russia,” he answered.

“Oh! Same country as Santa.” Jack lightly swung his staff and leaned against the tree. He glanced back at the others, and swiftly back to the Russian guy. “What's it like? I know it's cold, but how are the people?”

“Isolationist at best, wood chip at worst. Who is Santa?”

Jack sensed Pitch Black level of Emo from this guy. Not good.

“He’s a big guy who brings presents to kids every Christmas. He's a nice guy. You should meet him. Really fun to be around,” he offered.

Klesmolv looked at Jack like he was the weird one for knowing what it is. Sheesh, what a hard case. Maybe a magic snowball would- nope! Guy was blind. There went that option.

“Sheesh, are you sure you're from the same country as Nick?”

“It is very large country,” Klesmolv stated.

“Well I guess that's true. Hey how's it-” Jack caught a glimpse of Marina's mutilated body. “Ah, soooo… what do you like to do for fun?”

“Solve possibilities of interest.”

“What kind of possibilities would those be?”

“Classified.”

“Oohhhhkay. Anything else?”

“Drag racing.”

“Cool. How do they usually go?”

“Go as long as possible until run out of gas or too many police show,” he shrugged.

“So it’s a regular race. Cool.”

“We got her!” Melody called. Jack risked another glance and saw with his relief that Marina was bound up in a sheet and the big guy had been put back together. No longer looking quite as pregnant.

Ice’s eyes slowly opened, then blinked a few times. She sat up and ignored Klesmolv’s attempts to help her.

“Alright we have to move.” Melody moved quickly, Wolverine right behind. Marina in his arms. Jack followed right after, as did everyone else. He spotted Starfire beside him, carrying the man over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Somehow, she looked furious and disturbed at the same time.

“How are you doing?” Jack asked quietly.

“Bad,” she replied. “We will talk when I don't have to carry him,” she spat the last word.

Oh boy. Jack drifted towards Raven. “What’s going on with you?”

“I’m fine.” Raven replied nonchalantly.

“Okay.” Jack held his staff over his shoulder with one hand and put the other in his pocket. He cast a quick glance at the sun, which was obscured by the trees. They broke through the underbrush and onto the dimly lit path. Melody led them to the fork and took them to the safe house.

Phineas, Ferb, and Cyborg looked up as they came into the building. Jack waved at them as Melody crossed the room. Not too beat up. Nice. Jack gave Phineas a high five before sitting next to Ferb. Boy, what a long day. He closed his eyes and relaxed.

-.Klesmolv.-

Klesmolv followed the redhead who was burdened with his subject into a side room filled with hammocks. She unceremoniously dumped him into one of the lower hammocks and stormed out. He walked over to the hammock and noted his condition. He was lightly bundled up in thin white sheets soaked with his blood. A particularly nasty set of gunshot wounds on his shoulder knitted themselves back up.

The palm leaves rustled and Melody came in, a cup of blood in her hands.

Peculiar, do they know that he can do that or are they just guessing? Klesmolv thought as he stood to the side. “What is that made of?”

“It's my blood, from the right side.” The Gorgon answered. “It has hyperactive healing abilities.”

If only I had my suitcase. He thought as the gorgon held Ground’s mouth open and tipped the cup. The blood flowed thickly and Ground choked a bit. He shifted uncomfortably, then began to cry out in pain. The wounds knitted up faster, leaving small indications that they were even there. He underwent many body wide muscular spasms as his healing was accelerated. Klesmolv lifted up the sheet to see that even the scales on Ground’s chest were receding.

Not only does it have healing properties, it is potent enough to counter that? Interesting. He thought as Ground fell limp. The fissure where the spliced, parasitic, scales met human flesh started to form blood blisters. They bursted and blood shot out of the many openings.

Melody brought out a cloth and quickly wiped it up. The cloth left no smudges. Melody straightened and waited. The spouts weakened then stopped completely. The arteries carrying the blood came to the surface by scale growth underneath them.

“Probability that this is an adverse reaction to the blood?” Klesmolv questioned.

“Or the the lizard reclaiming its property. That’s not good. I’m going to check on Marina.” She slipped off.

“Well that would be an adverse reaction,” he stated after she left. He felt around his torso until he found a familiar bump. He opened the small pocket and pulled out a scalpel.

“AND NO DISSECTION!!!!” Melody shouted.

“I am just removing the exposed arteries,” he stated as he preemptively touched the arm. The hand flexed but nothing above that. Good. He thought as he started on a thin artery on Ground’s pectoral. The blade went through easily and he placed the tissue onto the cloth. He repeated this process with additional looks at the vile hand to make sure that it wouldn’t kill him like all those other times. He got to the shoulder when the hand made a fist. Klesmolv stopped and watched expectantly. It opened and closed a few more times and Klesmolv took it as the chance to leave. He grabbed the material that he had removed and calmly walked out of the room.

He walked out of the hut a small ways, made a small hole with the heel of his shoe, and dropped the material inside. He covered that up with the displaced dirt and walked back inside.

No one spared a glance. Frost was still resting. Ice was explaining Ground to the redhead. The purple girl, cyborg, and the angel were talking softly among themselves. The brazilian was probably with her fallen friend, and Melody was in the large kitchen. Frying something.

“How do you feel about Tacos?” Melody asked.

“I’m fine for right now.” Not sure in a few hours however.

“I’ll make you some just in case. How do you like it? Extra lettuce? Olives? Tofu?”

“Tofu.”

“Anything else?”

“No.”

“Alright. Tofu and lettuce it is then.” Melody pulled a square of Tofu out of her pocket and began slicing.

That can't be sanitary. He thought as he left to look for a sink.

-.Ground.-

Ground woke up with a grimace. His shoulder stung and he had a nasty case of heartburn. But besides that, he was missing the usual soreness that comes post possession. Strange. He heard faint conversations from somewhere nearby.

Maybe one of them can tell me what happened. He thought as he tried to move in an upright position. This caused the thing that was holding him to flip over and dump him onto the hard floor with a ungraceful thud. He groaned and pushed himself up off of the floor with his right hand. Aand I can't use it again. Great. He thought as he got on his knees.

The conversation in the next room stilled. He moved to a lunge when he heard people moving towards him. Hopefully these aren't tribals. He thought as he faced the doorway.

The palm fronds separated and a red headed girl in purple clothing looked down at him. Her clothes and especially her boots looked fairly modern. “Are you alright?” She asked. Her voice was sweet and ponderous.

Well she ain't tribal. “Somewhat. Bad case of heartburn though.”

“Oh. Like the kind Robin sometimes gets?” She offered her hand.

He took it. “Not sure who that is but probably.”

The girl had a surprisingly strong grip and hauled him to his feet with ease.

“Woah okay. Uh, you are?” he asked as his hand brushed the side of his thigh. And I’m not wearing pants. I’m fine with that. He thought as he readjusted so that his hand rested on his hip.

“Starfire. Ice told me you were Ground.” She deliberately focused on his eyes. “Are you...you?”

“Considerin I can't move my left hand now, yeah. Bastard always does that after I come to.”

She nodded innocently. “There's clothes under your hammock. Dinner’s finished. There are still some leftovers of you like.” With that she turned and left.

Clothes under- f*** they're covered in blood. Ground thought as he crouched down and pulled out the soaked garments. The looked like they were supposed to be white or light grey sweatpants and t shirt. He looked behind him and saw a thin sheet that wasn’t covered in as much blood. If he wanted to, he could tear off the bloodiest section and make a loin cloth out of it.

Or I can just ask for some new clothes. “Ay starfire?” Ground called. This better not be the only set they have.

“Yes?”

“Do you have another set? I apparently bled all over this one.”

“Hang on. Melody!” Ground heard cloth thump and Starfire’s gloved hands stuck through the fronds. Holding a fresh set of clothes. He stood, wiped his hands on the sheet, and walked over to the entrance. He took them and walked back a step and a half. It was a white t shirt and very light grey sweatpants. He put them on, making sure to tuck in his shirt, and walked out of the room.

A girl in all black and a purple cloaked girl looked at him. As did two boys. One with red hair and a triangular head. The other with green hair, trousers pulled up to his chest, and a face that looked a bit like a fire hydrant.

The redhead boy waved. “Hi! I’m Phineas, this is my brother Ferb.”

“My names Jack.” An icy blonde boy waved his hand tiredly. He sounded more awake than he looked. “Metal guy is Cyborg.”

“That's Raven.” Blue and black pointed at purple cloak.

“Hi.” She said monotonously.

“I’m Annilyse.” The black clothes girl said. Ground noticed a pink and purple stripe in her left bang, and a blue stripe in her right. “Melody’s in the kitchen.”

There was a collective hiss from the kitchen. Though that could have been a frying pan.

Ground spotted Molotov at a chess board, moving the pieces in tandem with his thoughts. Moving a bit too quickly to get out of the central gaze, he sat across from his friend.

The majority of the people went back to their business. A boy wearing a blue hoodie, however, got up came over to the chessboard. He had an easy demeanor and a bounce in his step. His Shepherd's staff balanced casually on his shoulder.

“Hi.”

Why does he have one of those? Ground thought as he opted to stay quiet.

He must’ve caught where Ground was looking as he playfully swung his staff. A swath of intricate looking frost covered the floor. “Ah, I didn't introduce myself fully. My names Jack Frost. Guardian of fun. Ground, right?”

For some reason, the teen struck oddly with Ground. “What’s it to ya?”

“Well just about everyone is going to be asking your name at some point or another. Figured I’d better get mine outta the way before it's drowned out.”

“Hmph.” He rubbed his chest. Man, this hasn't dulled a bit. “Do you guys have anything for heartburn?”

“I’ll che-” a pill bottle hit Jack in the side of the head. “Yes we do.” He said as he effortlessly caught it and handed it over. His hands were freezing under Ground’s.

Knowing his weight, he took three. He crushed them on his molars so that the medicine could work faster. Relief came in small waves after a minute. He relaxed as the burning sensation ebbed away. Half of him wanted to know what was going on and what had happened, the other just wanted some food. The food wanting half won with a loud complaint from his stomach.

“Alright geeze,” he breathed as he got up and headed toward the kitchen.

“He’ll get it sorted out eventually.”

The kitchen was large and smelt like taco meat. Jo was leaning on some counters facing the other person in the room.

“Hey babe,” Ground greeted as he walked over to Jo.

“Hey stud,” she smiled and got off of the counter. “Want something to eat?”

He chuckled. “You know me too well, what is there anyway?”

“Plain hamburger meat, taco sauce, chicken, and tofu. Lettuce, tomatoes, olives, white onion, green onion, and sour cream. Condiments are a variety of sauces.” The girl said. Her black hood rippling oddly.

“Do you have any large tortillas?”

She pulled a box of them out of her pocket. It was so big she could barely

hold it in one hand. “There's a lot more where that came from but it's a good start just in case.”

He took them and put them under his arm.

He gave Jo’s hand a squeeze. “Help me with the meat?” He asked.

“Sure.” She went over to the cook and got a bowl of hamburger meat. They walked out of the kitchen together.

“Clean up any messes you make.” The cook called after them.

“Got it,” Ground called back.

The table was large enough to fit twelve people easily before feeling crowded. Two of each dish was laid out, and sauce packets were in little piles all around the table. The plates were all missing with the exception of one. He set the box down next to the lone plate and gathered toppings. Jo sat across from him.

“I swear if you're going to deep throat the burritos-”

“Only one of them!”

She stared at him.

“Aw cmon Jo.”

She continued to stare.

There was a loud thumping from one of the rooms nearby. Something splashed and a door creaked open. He turned to look at the source. A side door had opened. Revealing a young girl peering out. Blood running down her black and white hair. Her face, remarkably, was clean. Her neck was far better than it appeared in the dreamscape. She peered around before the goth rushed up with a set of clothing. She passed the clothes and shut the door in one fluid motion before pressing her back against it.

“Looks like she wasn't kiddin about the bath,” Ground noted.

“She looked like the Grudge,” Ice compared.

“I can see the resemblance.” He started making his first burrito.

It was only after his sixth burrito he thought to ask, “What happened after I went into the brush?”

He heard shuffling around in the background.

“Zolotoy went right and I continued ahead. He got himself captured and I made acquaintance with Annylise. He was brought out with Raven and the Frosty teen.”

Marina sat down at the table with a large plate of chicken. She started pouring the pieces into a taco shell and loading it up. Meanwhile the cook frowned at something exposed on her back. She wore dark shades and appeared to have dreads hanging just under her hood.

“Ana heard Marina over here start to have some trouble with the gecko so we joined up with them to take it down and you up again. We were joined by Melodi and her crew. She gave me an amulet that let me into your mindscape while the others blasted away at it. I'm not sure what happened after the first trap because that's when I got into your head. So, why are there metal spires and flesh cones in your head hon?”

“I don't know, it's just been like that for the past while. I was only made aware of that particular place recently.”

“Hey Ground? Do scales replace any flesh absorbed when you turn?” The cook asked. Looking at him with some concern.

“I'm not sure what you mean. It covers more area on me if that's what you were wonderin.”

“Well, I think I need a second opinion on this.” She waved her hand for him to look. Marina's eating slowed, but she kept her gaze determinedly on the wall opposite.

He followed her and noticed for the first time that Marina was wearing a scarlet dress, which tied in the back. Revealing the majority of her spine. Through the crossing cords he could see black veins surrounding her spine.

It looks awfully similar to the first month. “You sure that it isn't just some weird brusing?”

That's odd. It kinda looks like- He compared her back to his arm after he got the splice. The patterns were similar enough to warrant concern.

“That has never happened before. Course this is only what, the fourth or fifth time this happened outside? So there is room for weird s***,” Ground stated after turning to face the cook.

She put her hand on her chin. “So he’s taking her over.”

“That greedy-” Jo started.

“Now let's not jump to conclusions! It could just be a weird reaction that goes away soonish,” Ground defended. It has to be that. It would nice to not be alone but, no one should go through this s***.

“And if it doesn't? What do you recommend doing then?”

“Pick a false god and to pray to that that it doesn't have her. And or we both don't get possessed at the same time.”

A small smirk twitched the cooks lips. “That's mighty presumptive of you to call another's gods false.”

“They’re all just superficial constructs made by people of old to explain the world around them,” irritation started to creep in.

There was a hiss from under the cooks hood. One of her dreadlocks moved. The light shining off of what was supposed to be hair. “Clearly you were unaware that you were just speaking to Jack Frost. The boy that heralds winter.”

Are we seriously having this conversation already? Ground bristled at the thought. “Look-”

“Hmm. It's using your anger as a leeway. Marina be mindful of your emotions.”

“Yes Melody.” The teen sat up and stretched. “Are you guys done yet? I’m not comfortable being stared at.”

He leaned back on the table. “Yeah. Wait, be mindful of back scratches. If it is bein a greedy a**hole.”

“Alright.” She took her plate to the sink. “It's going to be fun watching you figure it out though.”

Melody joined her at the sink. After a few soft words Marina went to the living room. The girl took a sponge and began cleaning. Her hood still rippling like before.

Ground leaned over to Jo. “Ay, is it ripplin to you?” he whispered.

“Yeah.”

“Are we still drugged?”

“I don't think so.”

“Well s***. And I don't feel a breeze that could make it move like that.”

“Possible anomaly?”

“What the hell would that look like. Snakes?”

“You're on fire.” Melody replied. “I’m not from your dimension though. Keep going.”

The adults shared a look of “f***” before getting up. They walked together over to their last team member who was looking at the chess board with minor contempt.

“What's not computing Molotov?” Ground asked.

“How I don't have the time and the limited reports of others,” he replied.

“How do you not have the time?” He took the seat next to him and Jo sat on the other side of the board.

“Under review.”

“Apparently we got mugged along with being drugged,” Jo bitterly stated while resetting the board.

“That would explain why I don't have my- wait. Did anyone grab my shotgun?”

“Same boat.” Everyone in the room said in unison.

“Well f***.”

“Didn’t think to grab it,” Jo sighed.

“An’ I’m assumin that I can't go back to grab it. Great.”

“Well do you have any other weapons?” Marina asked. Sitting down next to her goth friend.

“Once its awake yeah. ‘Member the fire?”

“I think so. Whoever kidnapped us could have thought that counted so you might not have a gun at all.”

“No, I remember havin it.”

“Then you can go grab it in the morning.” The winged teen across the room yawned and stretched his wings. “Night all.” He headed into the room separated by palm fronds.

Wings aren't weird. He thought as he watched him go.

“I think I’ll follow Falcons example. Night.” Marina got up and headed out. She was soon followed by purple cloak, Starfire, Phineas, and Ferb.

Molotov’s head jerked slightly forward. He made a small coughing sound before sitting upright.

“When was the last time you slept doc?”

“Today was twenty first, correct?”

“No doc. You need to go to sleep. An’ just in case, because I know you, gimme your visor so you actually sleep with your eyes closed this time,” Ground held out his hand. The russian tensed in thought, then sighed and handed it over. He got up and walked over to the separating leaves. He walked with confidence into the wall next to it.

“It's to the left Doc!” Ground called.

He stuck his left arm out along the wall. He found the entrance and walked inside.

“Sooo…” Jack asked, still lounging with his head dropped behind the couch. “How are you holding up?”

“Good enough to not need sleep.”

“I’m fine,” Ice yawned. She got up from her chair and sat on Ground’s right side. He shifted so that she had more room.

“So how long have you been a reality bender?” Ground asked pointedly.

“A bit over three hundred years.” The teen shrugged, the frost on his shirt glittering as he did so.

Bulls***.

Melody roped in Jack and Anilyse to help her with setting up the table. Once all was set in the modern European fashion, she put the divided meats and toppings on the table. Melody: evening meal is ready! The teenagers looked up and headed for the kitchen. Klesmolv and Ice followed slowly, sitting next to each other at the end closest to the living room. Jack simply went to the chess board game and watched the white Queen nag her King.

Melody noticed the adults position and placed a bowl of tofu in front of Klesmolv, then she took a seat at the middle of the table. She bowed her head and muttered softly in Ancient Greek while an amiable conversation started up between Raven and Anilyse.
