Hey so I was thinking (like halfway into January) that for the new year I should start a digital bullet journal, so here’s my first page! Hopefully this will be sort of a standard page I make each month, and I’m leaving room for more habits if I want to (click for slightly better quality I hope)

New Studyblr!

Hi, so I made one when I first started this blog a month ago, but I never tagged it, and looking back, it was a pretty crappy intro (just like most of my work,oops!)

Anyways, hi! My name is Alina, and I’m a 14 year old Canadian gal. I’m currently in an advanced math and science focus, as well as in french extended ( half of my classes are in french), so I’m fluent in french and english, but I’m learning Romanian!

My favourite subjects are math,english,french, physics, anatomy and physiology, history, Honestly, the only subject I don’t really like is gym ( I’m a clutz).

MY favourite thing to do in my spare time is read. I read an unhealthy amount sometimes. This year, I’ve read 245 books, and still more to come ! I also love youtube though, as most people do.

While I’m not that artistic, I love calligraphy. I write in cursive normally, so my notes do probably look a little different from standard studyblr notes. I’m also left handed, so the struggle for a good pen is *real*. Drop me any stationary advice, please!

I wanted to make a studyblr to improve my motivation, and get better marks. Since entering high school,my marks have definitely dropped, and I want to get them back to where they used to be. I am also want to be more careful,as I have a tendency to rush things.

MASTERPOST: Studying Methods

hey guys! I thought I’d put together a detailed list of the studying methods I use for my different classes :) Hopefully this will help some of you out!

Know what you don’t know. This first one is probably the most important! Look through your notes or textbook and keep a list of questions you have as you go through. Look at the explanations and questions in the textbook and think about how you would solve the question. Doing every single question can be really time consuming. If you can’t answer some questions on your list, email your teacher or go see them before class!

Flashcards! I swear by flashcards for subjects like biology, social studies, english and french. Flash cards are perfect for memorizing terms! For biology, if I have to remember a sequence of events or terms, I will put them on flashcards and mix them up and put them back in the correct order. Don’t be afraid to put drawings or sketches on flashcards too! It can be really useful if you're a visual learner.

Quizlet Ah yes the wonders of Quizlet! Quizlet is an online flashcard maker where you can have decks of flashcards for all your different classes. I keep my classes on “private” mode and if I see a friend struggling to learn the material before a test, I just tell them to make an account and request to join my class so they can have access too :) Quizlet is also super handy because you can do things like matching games and they also have a mobile app!

Beautifying notes Okay so this is a big thing in studyblr and you don’t have to have pretty pens and tiny neat handwriting to make it work. Redoing your rough notes to make them “pretty” is really just another form of revision! You spend more time looking at the material taking time to make it look nice, and you're also much more likely to want to look back at your notes at the end of the year to revise. To me, looking at a bunch of pencil scribbles from class really doesn't cut it for me to learn properly.

Summarizing My FAVE thing ever. Summarizing is the god send of all studying methods. If you know the details but not the backbone of the material, it’s a given that you won't be able to ace a test. Make a one sided piece of paper into a summary per chapter. Write your summary page as if you’re teaching it to someone else. Include key words, pictures and diagrams. These are also really handy for studying for a final exam!

Trouble spots Look back at your quizzes or worksheets and don’t just look for right or wrong answers. Trace back exactly what you did and exactly where you went wrong. You will remember looking back at your mistakes and hopefully you won’t make the same one again! Making mistakes can be good but only if you learn from them! Make sure to include your trouble spots in flash cards or summary pages you make!

Questions: 1. What is the next language textbook/dictionary/book in your target language you want to get?

ooh, I dunno. Probably Genki 2 workbook and textbook

2. Do you think sign languages should be taught as a mandatory school subject?

yes! I did sign language choir when I was in primary school, and it was really good! I wished it’d been available to continue it up the school

3. What kind of languages are you too intimidated to learn?

Russian. I’d never go to Russia, as it is I’m too intimidated. And if I was to try Chinese I’d not want to learn it by myself

4. At what time during the day are you the most productive?

Either mid morning to mid afternoon, or late at night

5. Have you ever had a native speaker of your target language as a penpal?

Only people I message with online occasionally

6. Do you have any pets? If yes, tell me a little about them. If not, would you like to have one and if yes, which animal?

I don't have any with me now at uni but I do have some at home. Four cats, three chickens and a dog! The cats are three girls, Tilda, Maisey and Myfanwy, and one boy, Toby. He’s the youngest at 8 months and a grey main coon, the girls are mogs. Tilda and Maisey are black and white sisters, are twelve years old but act like chalk and cheese. Myfanwy is a 3 year old tortie, and a barn cat. They’re all very talkative and will sit in a row in the mornings with the dog to be fed strips of ham. If you say who it is for they will be patient until their turn. Charlie the dog is short and fluffy, and he loves cuddles. He’s very patient. The chickens are really funny and sweet. They follow you around the garden and warble a lot. They love strawberries. I miss em ;w;

7. What was your greatest language related accomplishment this year?

I got into the uni of my choice! I didn’t think I’d do it

8. What kind of candy do you like the most?

Scottish tablet. Its the best

9. If you could change one thing about the langblr community, what would it be?
