Anyway, bone juice saves lifes. Keep your bones, bigger ones especially. Even if you roasted meat with a big bone in it it still hasn’t reached it full potential. Put that bad boy in freezer and cry out of happiness when you can make pasta ~soup edition~.

[ID: A fried 'chicken' cutlet topped with tartar sauce and served with rice and a green salad; bowls of tartar sauce and miso soup are in the background. End ID]
チキン南蛮 / Chicken nanban (Japanese fried chicken with sweet-savory sauce)
Chicken “nanban” (南蛮; "barbarian" or "foreign") is a classic example of 洋食 (yoshoku)—Western-style food adapted to a Japanese palette. Chicken breast is breaded, deep-fried, and coated in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and vinegar to create a crispy, tangy, savoury-sweet dish.
The method of breading and deep-frying used in making chicken nanban, tempura, and other Japanese dishes was introduced by the Portuguese during the Muromachi period (16th century). Chicken nanban itself, however, is far more recent: Nao-chan diner in the Miyazaki Prefecture of Kyushu is credited with having invented it in the 1950s. Nao-chan's version of the dish does not include tartar sauce, but it is often added to provide a sharp, creamy complement to the savoury chicken.
Chicken nanban works well as a main dish served with sides of rice, soup, or salad. If you're using pre-made chicken breasts, it comes together in around half an hour.
Recipe under the cut!
Patreon | Tip jar
Serves 4.
Ingredients:
For the chicken:
4 Gardein chicken breasts, or other chicken breast substitute, thawed
1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp potato starch or cornstarch (optional)
2 Tbsp egg replacer (I used Bob's Red Mill)
Water
Pinch kosher salt
A few cracks of black pepper
Oil to deep fry
For the nanbanzu / 南蛮酢 (nanban sauce):
3 Tbsp Japanese soy sauce, such as Kikkoman's
3 Tbsp rice vinegar
3 Tbsp granulated vegetarian sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp mirin (for a low-alcohol version, use aji-mirin; for an alcohol-free version, replace with 1/2 Tbsp rice vinegar and 1 Tbsp sugar)
For the tartar sauce:
1/2 cup vegan mayonnaise
1/2 tsp mild Dijon mustard
2 tsp rice vinegar
1 tsp dried ground shiitake mushroom, or kombu dashi powder
1 tsp vegetarian sugar
A few small sweet pickles or 1 Japanese or Persian cucumber, diced
1/2 small yellow onion, minced
Pinch kosher salt
Pinch of MSG
Minced dill or parsley (optional)
If you eat eggs, you can replace the first five ingredients with 1/2 cup Kewpie mayo (キューピーマヨ).
Instructions:
For the nanbanzu / 南蛮酢 (nanban sauce):
1. Heat sugar and soy sauce in a small pot over medium-low heat until simmering, stirring to dissolve.
2. Add vinegar and mirin and heat for another 30 seconds. Remove from heat.
For the tartar sauce:
1. Mince the onion. If you prefer, you can submerge the minced onion in cool water for 10 minutes or so and then drain to remove some of its sharpness. Seed and mince the cucumber.
2. Whisk mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, salt, black pepper, MSG, rice vinegar, and mushroom powder together to combine. Add onion and cucumber and stir. Top with herbs. Refrigerate while preparing the chicken.
For the chicken:
1. Mix flour, starch, salt, and black pepper together on a plate or cutting board. In a small bowl, combine egg replacer with water according to package directions and allow to thicken.
2. Fill a deep fryer or medium-sized pot with several inches of a neutral oil and heat it to 340 °F (171 °C). A chopstick placed in the oil should slowly form small bubbles around its tip.
3. Coat chicken breasts with egg replacer; if it is too thick, you may need to whisk in an additional 1-2 Tbsp water.
4. First deep fry. Carefully lower one chicken breast into the oil and fry without disturbing for about 2 minutes, until the egg coating on the bottom side is cooked through and lightly golden brown. Flip over and continue to fry for another 2 minutes. Use chopsticks or a slotted spatula to remove the chicken breast onto a wire cooling rack or paper-towel-lined plate.
5. Use a slotted spoon to remove any bits of batter from the oil and re-check the temperature. Repeat with each chicken breast.
6. Second deep fry. Increase the heat slightly to raise the temperature of the oil to 355 °F (179 °C). Re-fry each chicken breast for about a minute, flipping once halfway through. Set aside.
7. Coat with nanban sauce. Place the fried chicken breasts in a shallow rimmed baking dish or tray and spoon most of the nanban sauce over them, turning over several times to coat. Reserve the rest of the sauce for serving.
8. Slice each chicken breast widthwise and transfer to an individual serving plate. Serve with additional nanban sauce, tartar sauce, rice, a green salad, or soup.

Chapter Two

MINGI POV
The first night having a new member in our group has always been the most exhausting. I wasn’t sure why Hongjoong picked the boy though. Wooyoung looked too kind, just like Yeosang and Jongho, though Johnho was also the youngest in our small group. Laying in my bed I just enjoyed the quietness besides the birds chirping outside. Today would be explaining to Wooyoung exactly what it was that they did, seeing if he could fight, and as well as getting his stuff from his place.
Of course he didn’t need to live with them forever, they all had their homes as well but Hongjoong liked them staying close most days. Especially when we’d need to train the boys, figure out plans, as well as less risk of anyone getting found and hurt. Safety was Hongjoongs main priority. Turning to look at my phone I hear rustling downstairs where the kitchen was, someone was awake very early, it was only 6am. Pushing myself up I walked to the window that faced the living area, it seemed like Wooyoung wasn’t able to sleep.
Walking down the stairs I pat his shoulder. “Don’t be afraid to grab something you want, we all share the food. Things we want for ourselves we tend to keep in our rooms. San likes to steal our snacks so it became a habit for us all.” Letting out a small chuckle as I grabbed a cold bottle of water from the fridge. “We all usually sleep until 10am, sometimes earlier or even later. That all depends on our schedule to be honest. Hell Joong has made us be awake at 4am. We all had wanted to kill that little pain in the ass that morning.”
Wooyoung let out a small giggle, taking a bottle of water as well. He seemed unsure what to grab, though he turned to face me.  “I could cook us breakfast? I am used to cooking large amounts of food since I worked as a chef for a restaurant.”
“Honestly mother Seonghwa might be thankful if you did, he doesn’t mind cooking for just a few of us but 8 mouths to feed is too much for him.”
Watching the new member bring out eggs, milk, and searching around grabbing other ingredients I was surprised how easily this boy was adapting. A question I wanted to ask but knew it probably would be best to wait for the others. “Why did you agree? I’m sure our tiny captain didn’t explain what we do. Especially because Hwa mentioned you had agreed so easily.”  Running my hand through my hair I sat down at the bar table. “We don’t do anything super illegal I promise, Joong and I will explain to you more later though during our group meeting.”
”Honestly, I said yes because I thought maybe it would be a nice change.” Wooyoung started out, “I’ve been stuck in the same routine over and over , and I really was starting to hate it. Something needed to change, something new needed to happen ya know?” Cracking 5 eggs into a bowl and then pancake mix.
Mingi understood that, it was the same reason Yeosang and Seonghwa joined.
“I get that, some of the others joined for the same reason, I joined first after Joong got the wild idea and Yunho a day later. Yunho is probably the one member who truly believes in the goal… following all orders but also being possibly the most deadliest besides Hwa, god damn watching those two train is hot. Ah, also Hwa and Hongjooong are dating. I’m sure they will mention it but I just didn’t want you to be confused if you saw them giving each other a kiss when they came down.” I felt like I was talking way too much, I hadn’t planned to but from past experience talking with less people was a lot easier then everyone being circled around members interrupting someone left and right.
Everyone usually was calm and could keep their cool when things were too chaotic but I usually get way too overwhelmed, which is funny since I’m the second in command and then Seonghwa was third.
“Fighting? I’m no good at that to be honest.” Wooyoung made a face at the thought of even trying to harm someone. “Though, I'm good with gossip and getting information. I probably won't be much help huh?”
“Getting information is always needed, all our faces are known by the people we are dealing with… so you'd be helpful.” I was going to continue talking when I felt a warm hand on the back of my neck rubbing it.
“Morning you both, Woo I see you've adjusted to the kitchen rather quickly. Which for me is a damn blessing.” Hwa spoke as he walked to the coffee machine and started brewing a pot for the boys. “Coffee is a must, we tend to drink a lot of it.”
We did, to be honest all of us probably drank coffee more than water. Which yes we all were well aware of the fact it wasn’t healthy. Coffee was our favorite drug. Dealing with 7 un-caffeinated was like dealing with hungry wolf's needing to feed as soon as possible.
“I’ll keep that in mind. Usually though I don’t wake up this early on my own, but I felt a lot of different emotions once I laid down. I think maybe 3 hours of sleep was all I got? I honestly have no clue.” Watching Wooyoung start finally cooking the pancakes I realized how hungry I was, my stomach growling which had caused Seonghwa to turn his head.
“Looks like our fake maknae is hungry.” Bringing me over a cup of coffee.
We 3 spoke for a while, Woo kept his focus to the food cooking as well as asking questions like how much we all could eat, who was the oldest, and just simple small questions that were okay to answer without the others.
Probably an hour later everyone was awake, grabbing plates of food and their coffee, all thanking Wooyoung for cooking even though it had been his first morning with us. Hongjoong was the most surprised, mentioning that Woo had seemed like he’d been with ‘em for more than a day already.
Wooyoung finally sat down next to me and San, looking at our captain he just shrugged taking a bite of the soft sweet pancake. “To be honest I adapt easily, also easily make friends. My best friend Changbin loved dragging me out to parties for that reason, I could be the life of the party, hype people up, and even make it so things were less awkward.” Changbin? I looked over at Hongjoong, I knew that he wasn’t going to be that happy about the newbie knowing one of our enemies.
Clearing his throat Joong looked over at him, “How did you meet Changbin?” Asking this wouldn’t be weird at least since Wooyoung had mentioned him first, plus Joong was acting like he only cared  about the boy's friend.
“Ah, I met Binnie in school! He was a basic nerd I swear. I was the pretty face and he was my nerdy best friend. We did everything together and even lived with each other for 2 years. Now he’s handsome and loud, but even now I’d risk it all for him. As long as my best friend is happy and safe that is all that’s important to me.”
”You sound like you are in love with him.” San finally spoke for the first time today, and to be completely honest he wasn’t wrong, it did sound like Wooyoung was in love. Friends since childhood or not.
Shaking his head, Wooyoung set his fork down. “No, but I see him as my brother. Binnie had a hard past just like I did, so when we met we both took care of each other. One day last year he had  come home covered in blood, never explaining what had happened that night but it made me realize that I would be alone if I lost Changbin. He’s my family, sure we aren’t always hanging out now but I still make sure we meet 3 times a month.”
A year ago? That was when we’d met the group that was known as Stray kids, they wanted the same thing like us so to anyone who didn’t know the story behind everything would think that both groups hated each other to the point there was no hesitation to try and kill one another. Though, I knew deep down one day if we really wanted anything to work we'd need their help.
Watching Hongjoong give a fake smile was terrifying. Probably the only members who didn’t know the full story besides Wooyoung were San and Jongho, so they, of course didn't understand why we were all surprised. Half of us expected the leader to lose his shit and tell Wooyoung he’d never be able to talk or see Changbin again. “That’s nice to have someone like that in your life. Woo, but now you also have us. I promise we will be there whenever you need us. Ateez is a family who never ever leaves someone behind. No matter what happens.”

making cookies!
☆ gn!reader x gn!partner
☆ fluff
☆ just making cookies~ (and lots of teasing)
☆ stoic/cold partner x bright and sly reader!!
it's been a while since you baked something, last you did so was before you got into a relationship. even though there's none the more reason to do so now but hunger and cravings, an idea sprung upon you - why not do it with your partner?
for someone like you, doing it alone was always your motto back then; the only difference now is you have someone who has your back. with that thought in mind, having an apprentice around does seem fun.
you contact them about your ideas through text. in response, they approve - great!! afterwards, you made a rundown upon the ingredients needed to make these batch of cookies which are:
· Butter
· Eggs
· Vanilla.
· Baking soda.
· Water
· Salt
· Flour
· Chocolate chips
luckily, everything is in check except for chocolate chips - one of the most important ingredient too. even though the store is just near your area, you ask your partner to help out regardless (you lazy ass). you better treat them to something on your next visit together.
and so, the wait is on. everything is on your kitchen counter alongside utensils. the time you agreed with your partner is nearing by just a few ticks; and you are edging to burst your energy to them with ecstasy.
a notification pops up on your phone; it's your partner:
"On my way! home"
"On my way!"
"omw"
"ffs iphoee ne man"
yeah, thats your partner.
"also did u preheat the oven?"
...
it took you a minute to process that you forgot.
"totally"
you reply, then rush to the oven to be preheated by about 177 degrees celcius.
DONE, now to continu-
your partner, now behind you stares deeply into you
"you forgot didn't you?" they ask
"yeah..," you reply
you both stare for a moment
your partner then blows on your nose which lead to you flinching - causing your partner to break into a small giggle.
"you should've seen your face"
"i hate you" you reply.
all laughs aside, your partner walks to the kitchen counter to drop off the chocolate chips. alright - everything is here!
ingredients, utensils, preheated oven and most importantly - you and your partner!
looking through your phone, you follow the recipe you mainly use for making cookies.
step 1: mix up the butter and sugar.
you grab a large bowl and a mixer alongside the ingredients needed: butter, white sugar and brown sugar.
"wait, so who's gonna start first? what's the flow here?" you ask.
"wanna rock paper scissors for it?" they reply
with no hesitation, you both knew what to do. hands ready, and...
you did paper, while they did scissors - well, you know the rules. you put out a large groan whilst allowing yourself a pat in the back for attempt. them on the other hand: rubbing their victory all over your face.
okay, time to go back to the main focus:
BUTTER! - you hand over the butter and watch it enter the bowl. until out of the blue, you were caught off guard; your partner took a smudge of butter and smeared it across your cheek - that bastard! you brace yourself by sneaking one yourself until-
SUGAR! - white sugar and brown sugar on your hand: you watch as the two combine into the mixture. with that, you are just etching to taste from the bowl. they mix them together with a mixer and the once identifiable ingredients now turned into a yellowy mush unrecognisable to the idea. such a sad sentimental thought.
step 2: crack in a few eggs, along with vanilla then add them into the mixture.
EGGS! - 2 eggs are all you need; you pass them to your partner, and they mash the two into the bowl - mixing the whole together. thus, it forms the dough.
"right, i think that's that," you say
"and we're not forgetting anything?" they ask
confusion and cluelessness could be seen all over your expression. a sigh could be seen from your partner as they take the vanilla extract from just beside you
holding the vanilla infront of your face, they say, "you're my apprentice, pay attention, okay~?"
their "okay" was said in a more delicate and tenacious tone. your face turns red and you ought to fight back; you aren't losing just because you're the apprentice. but how exactly are you gonna strike?
VANILLA! - a teaspoon of vanilla is enough to make a change to everything;
"it looks like maple syrup mixed with cough syrup," you say
"that sounds deliciously bitter," they reply
"you're deliciously bitter" you counter
...
they hide their face on the counter top whilst face visibly pink - you smirk in pride knowing you won out of idiocy; but did it matter? its the thought that you won that counts.
seeing the chance: you take the mixer out of their hands and mix away the ingredients. joyous and happy you are, they knew they had to up their game.
step 3: dissolve some baking soda into hot water. then, add a pinch of salt and the dissolved baking soda into the dough.
seeing as you've taken the lead, it's your turn to uprise the process.
BAKING SODA! - your partner gives you the baking soda and as they reach in their hand to give you the baking soda, you take their hand and put them both together. very cool power move.
"ok," they thought. their head might be relaxed but their hand isnt. it's set in position, which you then at the same time take the opportunity to pour in the hot water yourself. as you mix, your partner stares at you intently.
"what was that for?" they ask
you put your tongue out
"pay attention more" :p
SALT! - "ok you do the honours this time, its just salt" you say
"why? salty much?" they say
"says you" you reply
they scoff and pinched the salt from the container. and so, off the salt goes.
"thank you~" you say in a sly tone
"sure, whatever," face all red, they snatch the bowl from you and mix away.
fair enough
step 4: stir in flour and chocolate chips
one last step before making the shape of the cookies, what could go wrong?
FLOUR! - you grab the flour and chocolate chips and place them on the counter top. your partner looks at you while preparing the measurements of the ingredient: which is just the flour. as its commonly known, you can adjust the amount of chocolate chips you want based off of your desires.
"you know, i prefer my cookies with less chocolate chips," your partner says
you on the other hand have the opposite opinion, you're an avid lover of sweet, milky things. never would you deny otherwise to things as such (unless you're lactose intolerant but they dont exist). they knew of your obsession, though just wanted to cause a little conflict in the scene.
"don't you dare," you cry out
CHOCOLATE CHIPS! - it's just the difference of choice the two of you had. with a whole bag of chocolate chips, you both brace for who gets to pick between the amounts.
no hesitation, you both reach out to the bag in a rush: you try to distract your partner by attempting on negotiation, but it ended up not working.
"Pleaseeeeee," you beg. "I just want my chips to taste with the utmost pleasure of chocolate's divine."
"Nope, got it fair and square and that means I win," they reply. "But hey, since you asked nicely, maybe we can negotiate"
hearing that made you rise from your sorrow of defeat, alongside it is the feeling of relief. now what's left is to hear the deal:
"how about instead of placing all the chocolate chips all at once, you decide on what amount you want based off of the shapes you make? that way, i get my fair share of equality and you get... whatever you want," they ask
"DEAL," you reply. "as long as i get my cookies, i'm satisfied." in a happy mood, you take the chocolate chips from their hands and separate your amount and their amount. leaving it as a 1 : 2 ratio. the 2 of the ratio will be put in the bowl while the other 1 will be individually placed by you.
now, everything's settled
step 5: shape the dough and put it in the oven.
the trays are now taken out. you pull out the baking sheet alongside baking spray and now to finally make the desired shapes. with the bowl and your partner by your side, you both work together and try to get what's what.
as you both work on the batches, you can't help but just take a small taste of what the cookie dough tasted like; until your partner stops you while giving you a warning about salmonella, as if that'd stop you.
skipping to when everything's done, you both put the trays into the oven and wait 10 to 15 minutes for the cookies to be baked. while waiting, you looked at your partner with a grand smile: congratulating the both of your partner and you for successfully making their first batch of cookies while in hopes of the future that you both could make more batches of cookie. your partner blushes in extent while saying out loud, "you are such a hassle to handle."
"i know," you reply while hiding a hidden laugh.
as the cookies finish rising and the alarm begins to ring, you and your partner open the oven door; exposed to the rich aroma that the cookies offer. you both wait for them to cool down before you place them all into a container, leaving room for a time someone needs a snack. afterwards, you and your partner happily munch over a few bits and pieces of warm, delicious cookies!
editor's note: if u guys couldn't tell, i got pretty bored near the end of it so no more random scenarios at that point. i wanted to try smth new yk, but idk if its working on not - by new, i mean like doing gender neutrality through this. this fic took me 3 DAYS because my mind was blank but hey at least its finished. anyways, if there's any mistakes, let me know :D and dont forget to share ur thoughts ^^

Ava’s Bacon and Egg Pies
Tumblr media
On Wednesday, I took Ava to one of my favourite places, and after a walk in the woods and an amble around the ponds, we sat for a picnic by the water, with swans, coots and grebes gliding past us. After a stroll in my garden, she’d decided she’d make the main, and baked these absolutely scrumptious Bacon and Egg Pies! My girl is a fine cook, and biting into the crisp pastry, and the rich, fragrant, juicy filling was a sheer delight!
Today, Ava is gone; Mum is back from Vienna and we are driving to a restful holiday in the midst of Auvergne’s old volcanoes. Perhaps with a couple of these beauties for lunch! Happy Sunday!
Ingredients (serves 2):
1 ½ cup plain flour
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small chunks
½ cup ice water
225 grams/8 ounces thick-cut smoked streaky bacon rashers
2 Green Onions
a small bunch fresh Garden Chervil
1 tablespoon White Port
1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
2 large eggs
¼ teaspoon fleur de sel or sea salt flakes
½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
Generously butter two 13cm/5″ individual pie plates. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Rub butter into flour mixture between your fingers, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually add ice water, until a soft ball forms. Knead pastry lightly, 5 minutes, wrap in cling film and flatten into a disc. Place in the refrigerator for at least, 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the filling. Cut bacon into thick lardons, and place into a medium bowl.
Finely chop Green Onions and Garden Chervil, and add to the lardons. Season with black pepper.
Drizzle with White port, and toss well, with clean hands, to combine and mix. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 200°C/395°F.
Divide pastry into two portions: one third, and two thirds. Divide the latter into two equal portions and roll each onto a lightly floured surface into a circle. Fit each pastry circle into prepared pie plates, letting the pastry overhang on the edges.
Divide remaining pastry into two equal portions, and roll each on a lightly floured surface to make the pastry lids.
Fill prepared pastry cases generously with Port and herb bacon filling. Gently dig a well in the middle of each pie and carefully break an egg in. Season with fleur de sel and black pepper.
Brush the edges of each pie with water, top with the pastry lid and, gently but firmly pressing to seal. Trim off excess dough and crimp. Cut four slits on each pie, avoiding piercing the egg yolk, and brush with beaten egg. Cut out little hearts in trimmed-off pastry to decorate the pies, and brush with egg wash as well.
Place in the middle of the hot oven, and bake at 200°C/395°F, for 35 minutes or until evenly golden brown.
You can serve Ava’s Bacon and Egg Pies hot immediately, or let them cool slightly and wrap them for a picnic.

JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION HOW TO
JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION FULL
JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION FREE
Prep the veggies in advance to save on prep time! Store washed, dried, and chopped vegetables in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to use. If you have smaller or larger eggs, that’s ok! Simply crack eggs/egg whites into a measuring cup until you have 1 1/2 cups of eggs. They come in all different sizes, but large eggs are called for in this recipe. Eggs and Egg Whites – the base for our healthy egg muffin cups! Eggs are a great source of lean protein and other nutrients.Add additional seasonings such as pepper, red pepper flakes, etc. Be sure to taste and re-season the vegetables until the desired flavor has been reached. Salt – enhances the flavor of the other ingredients. The recipe calls for 2 cloves and can be replaced with 1/2 tablespoon jarred minced garlic to save on prep time. Garlic – provides a subtle, nutty flavor and *bonus* is loaded with good-for-you vitamins and minerals. They release a lot of moisture, so cook until the liquid has evaporated or drain excess water to avoid watery muffin cups! Mushrooms are a great low calorie source of fiber, protein, and antioxidants. Mushrooms – provide a “meaty” texture and mild flavor to the egg muffins.
JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION FREE
Feel free to replace with roughly chopped kale, if preferred. Chopping gets you a bit of spinach in every bite! Spinach is rich in vitamins and minerals and has a mild taste. Chopping the spinach is personal preference, because I don’t like the stringiness of un-chopped spinach. Yellow and red onions will yield a sweeter flavor whereas white onion will have more of a “bite” to it.
Onion – yellow onion is used in the recipe, but feel free to substitute white or red onion.
Green peppers are the most bitter, orange and yellow bell peppers are slightly sweeter, and red bell peppers are the sweetest.
Bell Peppers – red bell pepper and green bell pepper are listed in the recipe, but any color of bell pepper will work.
It also brings out the flavor of the vegetables while reducing their bitterness.
JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION FULL
Oil provides healthy fats to the egg muffins which keeps us full longer. Oil – the recipe calls for olive oil, but feel free to use extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, canola oil, safflower oil, or even coconut oil - for sautéing, use a flavorful oil with a lower smoke point. This simple ingredient list makes an ultra nutritious and delicious low-carb, gluten-free, vegetarian breakfast! and that starts with a great morning routine! For our morning routine, Trevor and I have been waking up earlier, reading for thirty minutes, then having breakfast together.Īlthough we now have more time in the morning, I still don’t want to spend my mornings whipping up an elaborate, healthy breakfast before work. The main idea is to become more productive, happier, etc.
JUST CRACK AN EGG NUTRITION INFORMATION HOW TO
To get a better sense on how to do that, we read The Miracle Morning. Starting the year right by taking better care of yourself is one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions. Healthy breakfasts ensure I make healthier choices throughout the day, that’s why I also love these other nutritious recipes: crockpot steel cut oats, instant pot egg bites, avocado toast, and acai bowls.

In a separate bowl add in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, whisk until thoroughly mixed.
Prepare the apple by peeling skin and chopping into pieces.
Sift batches of flour slowly into the main bowl with the wet ingredients. Do it in small batches and whisk each time, but don’t over mix. Leave a small amount of dry flour in the bowl.
Mix the apple pieces with the leftover flour. This coats the apple with flour to help from sinking to the bottom of the muffin tin.
Tip all the apple pieces into the main bowl and fold gently with spatula until evenly mixed. The ideal mixture for muffins is runny so don’t over mix.
Split muffin mixture evenly into muffin tin and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Once done take the muffin tin out of the oven and rest with muffins inside for 10 minutes. Then each muffin out and rest on the cooling rack.

5 and 12 from the prompts where the humming song is Mine Forever by Lord Huron, please? Like reader is an Eternal and her and Druig are friends and he knows that she loves this song bc she's always humming it wherever she goes and he uses it to say he's in love with her...I don't know, I'll leave it to you to see how it goes.
Perfect pairing! Sorry for responding to this a day late! I hope you like it :)
5) Walking hand in hand
12) Humming a melody together
Tumblr media
Mine Forever
You had a pep in your step, almost a bounce in watch step you took as you were waltzing down the hallway of the Domo to the main meeting room. Your hips were swaying and your smile was on your face as you were humming a particular song that was in your head for some time. You couldn't help but, the song was catchy and almost a folky kind of tempo to it.
The rest of the ship still seemed to be asleep as you made your way to the kitchen, working up a appetite for something hearty and to wake you up. You've only been in space for about a week now, going off to find other Eternals that could be out there and trying to fulfill what they thought their mission was. It seemed like heavy task, and floating out in outer space seemed to be almost...natural for the four of you.
The warrior Thena, the speedster Makkari, the mind controller Druig, and yourself, the eternal who can adapt to any element or threat and survive. Or in a more scientific term: Reactive Adaption.
It was no wonder you were hard to kill at times when you battled a Deviant or went along with the ways of Earth and its evolution. Your body knew how to survive and never die: you sprouted gills when you were under water, you breathed through all the toxins or smoke in the air without suffocating, and your body created its own exoskeleton under enormous pressure. You were the being that could never die, not even by force. In all fairness, you yourself became a major threat and just as dangerous. Almost lethal.
Yet here you were, bopping your head to a corny song you fell in love with on the planet like some weirdo. You were a weirdo.
"It amazes me that you are this peppy so early in the morning, "
You giggled as you heard the mind controller, your best friend in the family of Eternals, stumbling in the kitchen area with a grumble in his voice and laziness in his feet.
"Druig, it's not that early," You replied over your shoulder as you got your eggs out and ready, "You want some?"
"Sure, thanks," He hummed, still sounding sleepy as you kept humming your song and then got out the pots and pans at the ready to use. You were cracking the eggs into the skillet, adding some more ingredients.
"What is that?" Druig asked suddenly ebbing you, though you rocked your Fahd to show they at your were listening as you moved the eggs around in the skillet with a spatula.
"What?" You countered, "We've talked about this: you need to be specific when you asked me something,"
"Har har," Druig said with some annoyance in his voice and it made you smile, "That song you're hummin'. What is it?"
"Oh," you replied, pausing for that moment when he asked you, "It's a song I heard back on Earth. It's called Mine Forever,"
"Sounds...interesting," He replied, though you looked over at him now. He was sporting bed head for certain on his left side, along with some creases and clearly was evident that he slept hard in his bed and he left an indent there. He was wearing a black shirt and red pants, almost mirroring his armor. The bleariness in his eyes as evident that he was still somewhat asleep as you smirked at him and pointed with your Spatula.
"You making fun of my singing?" You asked him, seeing him just chuckle and shrug.
"So what if I was? You’re....decent as it," Druig said, almost teasing you as you cocked your eyebrow at him.
"You're not singing yourself," You replied, going back to work on the breakfast that was sizzling away, "Anywho, I love the song and I love the words to it. It's quite poetic when you listen to it: Love is strange, I can't sleep without you. Maybe in the grave, I can't do it without you...It's kind of sad....really,"
Songs were meant to tell you things, that's what you thought at least. Some songs were filled with life and joy, proclaiming to all who heard how great life was and how much there was to see. Other songs were sad, almost with longing and with lingering feelings that held the person back.
With this song, it tugged at you and you never truly knew why. You didn't know if it was the soft melody and voice that as floating in and out like a cloud, or the tempo that made you think of a study heartbeat. Something had you gravitate back to this song, and it never really crossed your mind as to why.
"It sounds like a good song," Druig hummed behind you, no longing sounding coy and as if he was going to tease you. He sounded genuine when he said it, almost intrigued. You shook off that funk you were feeling, plating the eggs for the pair of your as you nodded your head.
"Leave it to the humans to make such songs that can move any heart," You explained, placing the plate of eggs in front of Druig as he was watching you. You grinned back, your hands on your hips as your motioned you head to him, "Even the weird hearts like yours,"
"Jerk," he replied as he reached down to take a bite. You just stuck on your tongue.
"Liar," You hummed back, seeing him grin as you joined him in your breakfast
------------------------------------------------
It was hard seomtimes, being on the Domo and no longer on Earth. You missed all the nosies, all the colors and scents, hearing all the music in the world on that planet. You weren't sad to be on the Domo, not at all. You were happy to be with some of your family to help out Eternals that could still be out there, you felt like you were fulfilling something.
Still, there were times you felt a bit....incomplete.
Maybe it was the close quarters that you haven't had to dealt with for a good 500 years, before you all separated and split up. Or perhaps it was having him around consistently again and getting back into that friendly rhythm you both had together before earlier in your lives on earth. but being around Druig made your mind....wonder a bit.
Did you think about him like....that before?
It didn't help that the ship was a bit smaller than you remembered, seeing him around on the daily with snacks in hand or his nose in a book. You were grateful to have him back in your life, to hear his voice and laughter again to bring you a small amount of joy, and to se his face again that would make your heart flutter or almost stutter for a mere moment or two. Thinking of him would make your cheeks warm and almost red in blush, or have you loose your train of through for a split second. But there was something shifting underneath you, and it involved him.
It scared you so bad.
Your mind went back to that song that you would hum and sing sometimes on your own, and now that you were thinking about Druig in a new way, it almost felt like he would float into your mind when you hummed that song. That natural sensation of Druig and that song melting together organically seemed too good to be true, and you question if what you were feeling for him was expressed in your favorite song?
Everybody lies,
but i'd never doubt you....
Don't wanna die,
but I can't live without you....
Well, shit.
-------------------
5 Days Later
A knock was heard at your door, making you look up as you were attempting to mend a hole in one of your favorite shirts. Druig was poking his head in, seeing what you were doing and he grinned.
"What are you up to in here?" He asked to ask, you slightly rolling your eyes.
"I happen to like this shirt and I wanna keep it around for some time," You explained, then packing the shirt with its thread and needle on the bed, "What's up?"
"I wanted to show you something," He said as he came into the room and closed the door behind him. He had seeming in his hands, hidden behind him while he walked over to sit with you on the bed while you moved your shirt and needle out of the way. Once you two were facing each other, he unveiled what he was hidden in his palms.
An old iPhone.
"You're gonna make a call out here in space?" you couldn't help but tease him about as he chuckled and then tapped a few things on the surface.
"Be nice," he reasoned, "Phastos gave me his old one. It has a library of music on here, you can listen to anything on this thing,"
"You've never had one of these, haven't you?" You questioned him in genuine curiosity.
"Never wanted one, and I didn't need one in the Amazon." Druig explained in a shrug as he finally found a song, "This sound familiar?"
You paused for a moment, then hearing the very song that was floating in your head for some time. The opening rhythm and tone, the soothing sounds of the vocals in the background and the gentle melody being heard between the pair of you. Your smile was grinning so wide as you were hearing the lyrics being sung out in the open air:
If you ever wanna see my face again, I wanna know
If you ever get lonely, please let me know
If you never wanna see my face again, I understand
If you forever gets lonely, take my hand
Your eyes were closed and you were swaying with the song, your soul was feeling lighter than ever from hearing this song and letting it fill you from top to bottom. You were humming, full on humming with no sign of stopping as the song was filling your bedroom.
"How'd did you find this song?" you asked as you kept your eyes closed and you were smiling like an idiot.
"I have my ways," he said to you, "And I figured you would want to hear this song as much as you wanted to,"
"Thank you," You thanked, hearing the song go into the chorus now as you felt yourself being wrapped up in it:
Don't laugh, you'll make me cry
So long, good luck, Goodbye
I know we will be together
In my mind, you're mine forever
In my mind, you're mine forever.....
There as something else that was heard in front of you as you were humming to the song, it made you pause for a split second. It was another sound there, right in fronton you, deep and almost sounding like it was following along with the iPhone.
Druig....was humming...your song with you.
You were amazed at what you were hearing and what was unfolding in front of you, almost making those small feelings and lingering thoughts about Druig come back up again. You two were humming a melody together, a melody you grew to love and clung onto over the last few days on the Domo. it was a melody, a song, that helped you and guided you. And to hear him hum along with it too, it was much more than that now.
"You...like the song?" you asked him in hesitance. He stopped humming then, almost loosing that new trance that was over you in hearing how his humming was getting under your skin and within your soul.
"I do," He answered with no hesitation, "I really like it, even after hearing it over 50 times,"
"Why so many times?" You asked to question Druig.
"Because of the lyrics and what they were sayin'. And I...well," He paused and rubbed the back of his neck for a brief moment like he was nervous to say what was on his mind. You said nothing, knowing not to push him when it came to him being raw with you. Yet as he looked at you, dead on in the eyes and he sat so still, you felt your old heart breaking and a new now forming. He breathed out:
"I want you to be mine forever,"
Before you knew it or stopped yourself, you launched yourself to him and wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him soundly and letting your heart take over your insecure mind. He kissed you back instantly, the pair of you kissing softly and languidly as the song kept playing and giving you more fuel to the fire. You were beyond content in kissing him on your bed, not wishing to reply on maybes or what ifs. It was just as good to feel, to know, that Druig was in the same boat as you.
And as you felt him push you back into your bed, you pulling him to be over you and your fingers in his hair and his hands on your waist, your both heard the song continue to play on the iPhone as your love for one another expanded and blossomed:
I'm much too young to die,
So long, good luck, goodbye,
We will always be together,
In my mind, you're mine forever
In my mind, you're mind forever.
---------------------------------------------
You two walked out to breakfast together, walking hand in hand with big grins on your faces. The song still played in your head as you were joking Makkari and Thena, never one letting go of each other's fingers and each other's heart. That was your song now, for the pair of you, and you both were satisfied.
The End.

Tumblr media
12:10 - “should I do it sensually?” christ ...and then the slapping it
12:38 - I love that he just had fun with the decoration
12:51 - they just added more sugar I’m sure
13:05 - it’s thicker in the middle than it is on the edges

15:09 - even Phil doesn’t know what he’s saying some of the time
Tumblr media
15:34 - he’s watched enough Bake Off to get the method somewhat correct!
16:05 - random noises, yikes
16:17 - they did end up eating the whole cake!
16:37 - another quite long endscreen
This is such a great video. Sometimes Phil’s videos make me want to shout through the screen at him, lol. Although the chaos is very entertaining!

“I kinda need this to turn out halfway decent, cause I told the team it was gonna be the bomb.” Mateo fumbled with a set of measuring cups, dropping them on the counter without much warning.
“Why would you set yourself up like that?” You laughed, handing him the bag of flour.
“Have faith in me.” He felt the corners of his lips tugging upwards.
“I had faith in you last time, I know how you bake.” You jabbed.
“Yeah,” he started, turning towards you with a mock attitude, “I know how you bake too-“
“All the more reason why the cookies were trashed last time.”
Mateo couldn’t argue there. He nodded in agreement before pulling out his phone. He had an audio recording of a Chocolate Fudge Cake recipie saved, and ready to play. He started it, and the two of you got to work.
The recording went by too fast, and you both struggled to keep up. You needed to leave a hand free of ingredients just to pause the recording every few moments.
“How much is a sprinkle?”
“How am I supposed to know?”
Despite the simple directions stated in the recipe, you and Mateo were struggling. Baking was neither of your strong suit’s. Judging by your lack of improvement from the last time you’d tried to bake together, you thought, it would never be. How hard could baking a birthday cake be?
A failed batch of batter and two raw eggs dropped on the floor later, you had the cake in the oven. All that was left to do was to clean up the awful mess you two had made and wait until it was ready to frost.
After the designated baking time, the cake didn’t quite look done. It looked mushy, and was still far more liquid than solid.
“What’s wrong with it?” You asked, poking at the center with a fork.
“Maybe we messed up a step somewhere. Should we just leave it in for longer?”
You shrugged, “I guess so.”
The two of you laughed at the situation, leaving the cake in for another few minutes. Thankfully, it finished baking in that time and looked half decent.
“I gotta go to the bathroom.” Mateo announced, taking the pans out of the oven. He set them both on top of the two potholders you’d laid out and excused himself, leaving the kitchen with a purpose.
You continued your task, finishing washing the utensils. As you went to start wiping the counter down, a small edge in the corner of your eye caught your attention. One of the pans was hanging off of the counter, just a little. It was a bit of a safety risk there. Either one of you could walk by it and bump it, resulting in either a loss of half the cake or the pan burning someone. Without thinking much of it, you grabbed the it to move it a safe distance onto the countertop.
A blinding heat cleared every thought from your mind, and stopped you in your tracks. A yelp escaped your mouth, followed by the smack of the pan landing back on the counter. You subconsciously crouched down, clutching your hand into yourself.
“Y/n?!” Mateo called out, you heard swift footsteps bound towards your location.
“Are you okay? What happened?” He appeared by your side, crouching down to find out what was wrong.
Your jaw wired itself shut in a clench. All you could do was let out a single heavy breath in replies. Mateo looked around, eyes landing on the misplaced pan seemingly thrown on the counter.
“Were you burned?” He asked, already knowing the answer. After you nodded, Mateo requested to see the affected area. Reluctantly, you let him have your hand.
The burn itself was spread across your hand, you could already see it starting to blister into your palm. Thankfully, it wasn’t extremely severe. 2nd degree at the worst, even though it sung like hell. The skin around the blister was red and swelling up quickly. You could feel the throb throughout your wrist, and the pain was increasing as your initial adrenaline began to wear off.
“We need to cool it down with water before the heat spreads any more.”
That was all you needed to hear before you could not stand still anymore.
You left him in the dust in your beeline back to the sink. The faucet started up quickly at the coldest temperature you could turn it to, but you were prevented from submerging your hand into the stream.
“Wait!” Mateo felt the water temperature, “You can’t put cold water on a burn like this.” He turned the handle to the left, warming the temperature just enough to make the temperature less icy.
You squirmed in place, barely able to manage the heat radiating from your hand. At this point, you were nearly in tears. You’d never really had a high pain tolerance, and the surrounding area had swollen enough to ache at every little movement. When Mateo deemed the temperature correct, he reached out to take your hand. Noticing your reluctance, Mateo softened his eyes. He sent you a reassuring look, gently taking your hand in his. He carefully guided your hand into the cool-temperature water stream, holding your arm as if you were made of porcelain.
The burn itself cooled with the water, and you felt the tension in your shoulders loosen. The two of you stood there silently for a few moments, and you finally felt your jaw unclench. Mateo’s brows were furrowed and you could see the concern for you embedded in his features.
“How does it feel?” He looked up at your face.
“Like I picked up a hot pan.”
He chuckled, turning his attention back to your hand, “You kinda did, babe.”
After about 20 minutes of being under the cool water, Mateo shut it off and left to retrieve some treatment supplies. The burn no longer ached to your core, and the swelling had gone down significantly. When Mateo returned, he examined your burn more closely than he was able to before.
“Give it to me straight, fireman,” You started, drawing a small smile from Mateo, “How bad?”
He looked up at you with serious eyes. “You’ll live.”
You fake laughed. “The burn, please?”
A cheeky grin spread across his face. “It’s not bad, thankfully. I’m gonna put some stuff on it to help with the swelling and pain, and then wrap it. It’ll need to be changed every couple days, but, I can see you making a full recovery.”
You thanked him for his help, and waited patiently while he treated the burn.
“No need to thank me. All in a days work.” He flexed an arm. Your uninjured hand playfully shoved him, and you rolled your eyes.
Mateo cracked little jokes and talked to you about things he’d heard from Marjan and Paul at work as he took care of the injury, doing his best to distract you from any pain as much as he could. When he finished, you had a bright white addition to your hand. The gauze bandage covered a lot of your hand, but it didn’t feel too tight or suffocating.
With another thank you and a kiss ‘to make it better,’ you started to pick up where you’d left off before the injury. You grabbed up the rag with your fully functioning hand and started cleaning the mess off of the stove, trying your best to ignore the feeling in your hand. Once Mateo caught wind of what you were doing, he moved to put a stop to it. His hand found its way to your forearm, grasping it.
“What are you doing?” He questioned.
“Cleaning up? If we're gonna frost this thing we need a clean counter.”
He looked at you like you’d offended him, “You just got hurt, y/n, you shouldn’t be doing much.”
You laughed at his concerned face, “I can help clean up.”
He knew you could. It was possible. Lots of things were possible and not necessary.
“Why don’t you just..” Mateo looked around the room for something, “take a seat here?” he spun a dining room chair around for you.
You rolled your eyes. He sent you a big smile, scooting the chair closer to you.
“Beautiful. Now sit down and let me do the cleaning, please?”
With an exaggerated huff and a thankful smile, you agreed to his request. “Captain Strand better love this cake.”

“Okay, girl. Let’s move onto your two-three combo, and then you are going to come at me with a right hook as if it was your ex’s face,” Val instructed, holding up her mitts.
You dropped your hands, looking at her. “I’m not doing this because I want to kick his abusive ass. I am doing this for me. To build up my confidence and get stronger.”
“Yeah, yeah. You just want to look good naked for Rogers.” She wiggled her eyebrows, and you started punching the mitts. “Thata girl, I knew I could hit a nerve,” she chuckled to herself.
You completed a few more rounds, then Val decided it was time for a cool down. You nodded, breathing heavy, and stepped out of the ring. You wiped the sweat from your brow with your forearm while Val came over to help get you out of the gloves.
“You’re killing it, YN. Like, if someone ever decided to jump you, well, I think they would lose a hand.”
You chuckled at Val’s compliment. “Thanks, I do feel more confident in my movements, and my punches feel like they have more power behind them.”
“They do,” she agreed, “but it’s not hard enough to make me need to ice my hands or anything, like some of the coaches have to do when M’Baku is practicing.” She raised her eyebrows, shaking her head. “Men always have to be the strongest, but they’re not always the smartest.” She let out an annoyed sigh, rolling her eyes. “How are things with Rogers?”
You smiled as she started to untie your other glove. “He’s good. I think we’re good. Why, what’s the gossip at the station?”
“There’s not much. He tends to keep to himself about you, but there are times when he does get all flustered, blushy, and red when we pick on him about you. It’s cute,” Val smirked, eyeing you over, feeling yourself have the same reaction as him. “Have you two kindled the flame yet?” She wiggled her eyebrows, making your face heat up even more.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” you chuckled, shaking your head.
“Don’t tell me then,” she winked. “When Carol and I talk about you two, we think you two look good together, and from what you both have been through, you both deserve a win, and I’m happy you two found each other.”
You smiled, undoing the hand wraps. “Thanks, Val. Speaking of Carol--” you peeked up at her, watching her closely “--how are things? Have you told the crew yet?”
“Not yet, but I am sure most of them already suspect something is going on?” Val shrugged, taking a sip out of her water bottle.
“I wouldn’t be so sure. I mean, they’re men,” you chuckled, rotating your wrists back and forth.
“Good point,” she laughed, tilting her water bottle at you. “They can be a little slower at picking up hints.”
____________
You sat on the couch folding laundry, following a developing armed robbery happening downtown at the Ideal Federal Saving Bank.
“Christine, how are things looking there? Have any of the robbers been identified?” Megan Henderson asked from the KTLA studio to Christine Everheart at the scene.
“Yes, Megan. We know two of the assailants at this time, Jack Rollins and Jasper Sitwell. They are two notorious criminals who have been involved in numerous robberies throughout the state of California, Nevada, and Arizona. We are still unsure about the three other associates assisting with this robbery at this time…”
The monitor by the front door started buzzing, pulling you away from the screen to see who was there. You smiled at the screen, seeing Thor waving at the camera with his hands full of groceries, and you buzzed him in.
You walked over to grab the remote, seeing the film crew circling the bank in a helicopter, and switched off the tv. You would need Thor's full attention when he helps you make your mom's chocolate chip cookies for fire safety at the station tomorrow.
“Sister, I come bearing gifts,” Thor shouted, somehow being able to open the front door with his hands full. “And did you see that robbery hostage situation--” he pointed in the direction to downtown LA “--Nat and Clint have their hands full with this one.”
“Yeah, they do,” you agreed, leading Thor to the kitchen to drop off the bags on the counter. You furrowed your brows at the multiple bags of groceries. “What did you all get? All I needed was flour, chocolate chips, and eggs.”
“They were having a sale, and I couldn’t resist.” He lifted up a six-pack of beer, smiling like a child on their birthday.
“Well, that’s not going to take you long to finish,” you smirked at him, pulling groceries from the bags.
“No, I got this for us to drink while we bake mom’s cookies,” Thor added with a sincere smile, scratching his beard. “You know brother-sister bonding. I also grabbed snacks, so we are less tempted to eat all the cookies.”
You grinned, staring at him in awe. “Sounds like fun, let’s get these cookies started.”
“And I’ll open a beer for you and supervise,” Thor added, going into the drawer to get the bottle opener, and you narrowed your eyes at him.
___________
“Are you sure you’re doing it right?” Thor watched over your shoulders while you started creaming the butter and sugar together. “I don’t remember mom using one of these fancy mixers. She did it with one of those hand mixer thingies.”
“It just makes it go quicker,” you replied, rolling your eyes. “And you can do a bigger batch.”
“They’re not going to taste the same.”
“This is how I’ve always made them. You have literally watched me make these cookies with this machine before.”
“Oh well, I noticed they tasted different.”
“You’re insufferable, Thor,” you stated, turning around and pushing him to the other side of the counter. He laughed, taking a seat on the stool across from you.  “Do you want to find my cookie scoop? You’re scooping once I have everything mixed.”
“Finnneee,” he dragged out, complaining. He went over to the drawer and pulled out the scoop, and returned to the stool. “How have things been going with Steve?”
“It’s been fun,” you smiled, adding the eggs to the mixer bowl and turning it on.
“I’m glad. I’m the one who told Steve he could date you.”
“Wait,” you narrowed your eyes at him, “did he ask for permission?”
“No, I just told him that if I had to choose someone from the station to date you, I’d pick him.”
“Oooooh, so you picked him for me?” You scoffed, eyeing him while you added the dries in a little at a time.
“No, no, nothing like that. You can make your own decisions, but you’re a good person, and I wanted you to be with a good man. Besides, Steve is an old fashion guy, and with Dad not around anymore to ask, I figured I was the next best choice since I am the eldest.”
“And Loki was okay with your decision.” You scraped the bowl, adding in the chocolate chips and turning the mixer back on.
“Well...I didn't ask him per se, but I think he would agree with me on this,” Thor stated, taking a sip of his beer.
“But, when have either of you agreed on anything...ever?” You turned off the machine, taking the bowl off, and started scraping the dough off the paddle. “Besides, you know I can make my own decisions right. I’m an adult.”
“Yes, of course,” he chuckled, playing around with the cookie scoop until it flew out of his hand and skimmed across the kitchen island. “Of course.” He nodded.
“Says the man child, playing with a cookie scoop,” you snorted, shaking your head.
The last batch of cookies was in the oven, and the rest were cooling on sheets of newspaper. It wasn’t uncommon for you to get a few stares when you made cookies with an audience, but every time you made them with your mom, she’d use a spatula to get them off the pan and then place them on newspaper. You didn’t want to break that little tradition you got from her.
Thor plopped down on a stool at your small island. “Why did I have to scoop them all?” Thor asked, taking a sip of his beer.
“They’re for your job, I’m not going to do all the work,” you sassed, shaking your head, forcing him to crack a side smile. “Now you wash, and I’ll dry.”
“Do I have to? I just sat down,” he asked with a slight frown.
“Yes,” you stated as he groaned, standing up and making his way to the sink.
He let out a loud sigh, turning on the faucet, and narrowing his eyes in your direction. You stuck out your tongue at him while you continued to put ingredients away. He sighed loudly again, and you gave him the side-eye as he leaned against the counter, watching the suds magically appear in the water. “I’m happy for you.”
“Okay?” You replied more in a question than a statement. You narrowed your eyes at him, not knowing where that came from.
“It’s nice to see you smiling and having fun again. You know, putting yourself out there. It’s nice having the sister I grew up with back. I’ve missed her.” He stood up straight, cracking a child-like smile at you.
“Me too,” you smirked, leaning against the counter.
He turned back to the sink, placing a few dishes in, and started washing them before placing them on the drying rack. It was weird to watch him do civilized things because he never did them when he was younger. When he left New York, the annoying older brother you grew up with started taking responsibility for his actions. While most actions not involving his nightly escapades. You take a sip of your beer, grabbing a clean cloth to dry, and start putting the dishes away.
“I filed for divorce yesterday,” you mentioned, hearing Thor drop what he was washing into the sink.
He placed his hands on the edge of the sink, clenching his jaw at the sudsy sink.
“He’s going to know where you are. Are you okay with taking that risk?” He inquired, scratching at the short beard on his face, turning to you.
“I know it’s a risk, but the only way I am ever gonna feel free of him…is to be free of him.”
He nodded, clearing his throat. “Are you going to feel safe here? Cause I can take the couch and stay for a few days. I can take work off and…”
“Thor, Thor,” you interrupted, placing your hand on his upper arm. “I’ll be okay.”
“I know, I just… I want… I want to make sure you’re safe.”
“I know, and I will be,” you smiled at him, giving his arm a reassuring squeeze.
“Is Steve gonna come and stay with you?”
“I don’t know, maybe.” You shrugged, keeping a close eye on your brother; his bottom lip trembled as his eyes darted in all directions. “Is everything alright?”
He nodded his head aggressively. “Yeah, I’m fine. Totally fine,” he stated in a high-pitched voice, laughing it off.  “But um…I think it would be better if someone stayed here with you, so I know… so we--we all know you’re safe,” he stumbled over his words, wringing his hands together. “Have you at least talked to Loki? What does he think? Does he want me to stay with you?” He asked, rambling on in one breath.
“I was going to call him tonight and let him know,” you informed softly, trying to calm him down. “Thor--” his worried-filled eyes connected with yours “--I’ll be okay. Okay?” You gave him a reassuring nod. “I know after what happened before...that you blame yourself or you feel like you failed, but you didn’t. I don’t blame you for what happened because it wasn’t any of your doing. I put myself in that situation, and I continued to go back.”
“But, I could have gotten you out of that situation. I am the eldest, and I should’ve done a better job at protecting you, or at the very least, listening to you. I shouldn’t have taken Billy’s side, and for that, I blame myself,” he sniffled, clearing his throat.
“Thor--” you rubbed his arm, making him look at you “--Billy is and will always be a master manipulator. We all fell for it…”
“Loki didn’t. He saw right through the man,” Thor tried to reason, raising his eyebrows.
“But he didn’t stop me from going back to Billy. I mean, he tried, but Billy already had me wrapped around his finger.” You paused, biting your lip. “There is no sense in playing the blame game when the only person we should be blaming is Billy.” Thor opened his mouth to say something, but you continued. “You’ve helped me more these last few months than you will ever realize. Don’t think about the past and how you could’ve helped me, but think about right now, and how you did help me. I still don’t know how to thank you for it.”
“You can thank me by letting someone stay with you for a couple of weeks.”
“Wow...we’re still on that,” you scoffed, forcing a trembling chuckle out of him. “I know open communication was never our family's forte, but I love you, brother.”
“Love you, too, sis,” he smiled, leaning towards you and pulling you into a hug.
___________
You walked into the station through the open garage doors, noticing the spotless, shiny red trucks glistening in the sun, bringing a sense of ease over you and a smile to your face. This place felt like a second home that came with a family that you didn’t know you needed. You spotted Steve helping a few guys set up chairs in front of a portable tv while others set up tables for interactive activities for the kids to participate in. There were even goody bags with plastic red firemen hats and the treat table that continued to grow.
“YN, I see you got talked into making something, too?” You looked over to see Nat, holding a pan of brownies, and you lifted your two containers of cookies. “I swear these boys wouldn't survive without us. I mean, Val and Carol would be safe, but the boys.” She shot you a tight smile, shaking her head.
“Agreed,” you chuckled.
“And there is my nerd now, I’ll be back,” she winked, walking over to Bucky. She handed him the brownies, and he leaned down and kissed her ever so gently.
“It’s disgusting, isn't it?” You looked to your right to see Sam with his arms crossed, rolling his eyes.
“I think it’s kind of sweet,” You chuckled, rubbing your lips together and glancing at them one more time. Steve caught your eye, and a sweet smile broke across his face. “You’ll find someone, Sam. You’re such a catch.”
“Uh-huh,” he grunted.
“Would some cookies help?” You offered, handing him the containers.
“Yes.” Sam grinned his gap-tooth smile, taking the container. “Thank you, YN. This is why you’re my favorite.” He took a bite out of one of the cookies, walking away, holding it up in the air. “The best batch yet.”
Steve shook his head at a grinning Sam, walking over to you, and pulled you into a hug. You giggled into his chest, wrapping your arms around your waist, and he started swaying back and forth. You rested your chin on his chest, staring up at him. He leaned down, giving you a quick peck on the lips.
“How did Bucky and Steve get girls like that?” Sam asked Val at the treat table.
“I guess some people just get lucky.” Val shrugged, and Sam angrily took a bite out of another cookie.
“Want some ice cream?”
“Yes, I want all the ice cream,” Sam added, following Val to the break room.
“Question--” Steve stopped swaying and pulled away from you “--do you have any plans for tonight?”
“No, why do you have something planned,” he teased, shooting you his signature smirk.
“Maybe.”
“What are we doing?”
“I’m afraid that is classified, but I have something for you.” You reached into your purse, pulling out a manila folder, handing it to him.
Steve narrowed his eyes in curiosity. He opened the folder, his eyes scanning it over. “Divorce papers. This is a big step, YN,” He smiled at you, but it quickly dropped to concern. “Billy is going to know where you are.”
“I know, but I feel like it is time to put the past behind me and move on with my life.”
“Okay, as long as you’re ready, then I’m here for you with whatever you need.”
“I know,” you smiled shyly.
“Isn’t it amazing?” Thor clasped a hand on Steve’s shoulder.
“Yeah, I’m proud of her,” Steve winked, making your smile spread wider.
“As am I,” Thor smiled, squeezing Steve’s shoulder.
You shake your head at them. “I better get to my shift, but Sam has the cookies, and I want my containers back ASAP, or I am going to hurt you, Thor.” You stated, walking backwards.
“I’ll make sure they are in your possession tonight.” Thor saluted, making you shake your head.
“Have a good shift, YN. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Just know this, Steve, if you hurt my little sister, we will have more than words,” Thor stated, squeezing Steve’s shoulder a little harder watching you walk out of the station with Nat by your side.
Steve nodded, turning to him. “I don’t intend to.”
“Good man.” Thor patted him on the shoulder, giving him a closed-mouth smile. “Before she met you, she was lost in her own little world. Fighting the beast, invading her dreams, and trying to tackle her own troubles. She thought she could only rely on herself to make the important choices but soon realized she had supporters, like you and me. So, thank you, Steve, for helping bring my sister back.”
Steve nodded to Thor as the tall man went back to help the group set up.
“Did he threaten you?” Bucky asked with a breathy laugh, coming over to him.
“Ahh…yeah…sort of….I think.” Steve's eyebrows knit together, trying to figure out what exactly just happened. “But, I’m gonna make a quick call.”
“Do your thing, pal?” Bucky patted him on the shoulder and went over to help the group finish up.
Steve took out his phone until he found the name he was looking for; He brought it to his ear as soon as it started to ring.
“Hey, Steve. How’s it going?”
“I’m good. Listen, I’m not going to be able to play pool tonight. I got a...I  got a date,” Steve smiled at his own words, scratching at his beard.
“Oh, is this the one you have been kind of seeing?”
“Yeah, YN.”
“Good for you, man.”
“Thanks, but I gotta get back to work. I’ll see you later.”
“I have a feeling we’ll see each other soon. Have a good night, Steve.”
“Bye, Jig,” Steve smiled, sliding the phone back into his pocket, and headed over to finish getting everything ready for fire safety.
__________
The team stood by one of the open garage doors in anticipation for the first group of young students and their teachers to arrive. The workout room was transformed into a small teaching area, complete with fold-out chairs and a roll-away tv. Snacks and goody bags were also waiting for them with a welcoming banner hanging from the second-story loft.
Steve let out a deep breath with his hands on his hips, eyeing at what they were able to accomplish.  It looked very welcoming, but he didn’t know what was going to happen. He liked kids but wasn’t always great at talking to them, but Carol reassured them that the first group of students might not go as planned, but they had another six to make up for it.
“First group approaching,” Sam shouted, going over to the door to greet them. Sam shook the teacher's hand, flashing her his famous gap-tooth smile.
Bucky scoffed beside Steve, gripping his shoulder. “Don’t be nervous, pal. Just avoid swearing or talking about anything too scary. Kids think we are badasses, and they look up to us. We are heroes to them.”
Steve swallowed, nodding at him. He rubbed his hands together, taking in the twenty little kids, grabbing snacks, and taking their seats while Carol stood in front of them with a huge smile.
“How’s everyone doing today?” Carol asked, earning a group of students shouting while others remained silent. “I’m glad to hear it. My name is Captain Carol Danvers, but you can call me Ace, and I am in charge of Station 107. Those wearing the dark blue shirts around you are my teammates.” She pointed to Sam, who then introduced himself as they went around the room. “Now that you know my team, what are your names?”
The teachers introduced themselves before the kids went around the room saying their names. Steve stood off to the side, nodding his head, trying to remember every kid’s name. His eyes stopped on one familiar little girl, Morgan Stark. She caught his eye, and she waved with an exciting smile on her face. He nodded at her, mimicking her expression on his face. Steve noticed she also waved at Sam. Seeing her brought back the memory of his first encounter with YN and losing his dispatcher cherry while saving Morgan from the electrified pool in the process.
“Do any of you know the number to call in case someone needs help?” Danvers asked, bringing Steve's attention back to the present. Hands flew into the air, including Morgans. Danvers pointed to one of the students, and he replied with 911.
Steve zoned out as Danvers continued to talk with the young kids. His eyes traveled around the room, noticing how some of the teachers would catch his eye but then quickly look away. He smirked, realizing Thor and YN weren’t kidding when they said the teachers would flirt with them. Thor winked at one of them, and she blushed, unable to keep the smile off her face. Steve shook his head at them, returning his attention to Danvers.
“....when you dial 911, your call gets directed to a dispatcher, and they use a system called CAD, which is a computer-aided dispatch. They punch the address you give them in, and the dispatcher can figure out what unit is closest for them to send help. Now, how many of you know your address?” A few hands shot up, and Carol nodded. “It’s okay if you don’t just go home and talk to your parents about it. They love to watch you learn and would be more than willing to help.” She nodded, clasping her hands together. “We are going to watch a quick safety video and then break off into groups and do a few different activities and see some cool things. How’s that sound?” She got a few cheers from the students while the others kept quiet. Danvers smiled, switching the tv on and pushing play on the DVD player, before stepping off to the side.
The kids broke off into four smaller groups; Bucky and Steve took their group around, showing them different trucks, and explained their purpose. Steve couldn’t help but smile when the kids’ faces brightened up upon seeing the inside of the trucks. They did their best to explain what some of the equipment inside was, but most of the kids seemed too excited to listen. According to Bucky, kids like seeing the trucks and could care less about the other activities they had set up.
The first group's time was coming to an end, and the team could see the next class approaching in the distance. The team handed out gift bags, and all the kids were smiling and putting on their red plastic hats. The teachers told the students to say thank you, and they did so in unison before they retreated towards the door.
Steve stood by the entrance waving goodbye to the previous class, awaiting to greet the next class. He felt a tug on his pants, and he looked down to see Morgan smiling up at him.
“Hey, shouldn’t you be up there with your partner?” He leaned down to her eye level, resting a knee on the ground.
“She is waiting,” she pointed to her, and Steve smirked, seeing her waiting impatiently. “Besides, my teacher is still talking to the tall one.”
He glanced over to see the tall one was Thor, and he was doing the thing he always did. “Look at that, you’re right.” He nodded. “What can I do for you, Morgan?”
“I wanted to give you this--” she handed him a homemade card “--the tall one helped me make it at the coloring table.” She rocked back and forth on her feet and blushed.
“Aww, thank you.” He opened the card, reading: Thank you, Fireman Steve, for saving me, and it was an image of her in a pool with him on one side and Sam was on the other. “You’re welcome. I like it. You are quite the artist.”
She smiled. “I gave one to Fireman Sam, too.” She pointed at him with a smile.
“I’m sure he loved it, too.” Steve smiled at it. “I'm going to have to put this on my fridge at home.” He chuckled, and in an instance, the little girl wrapped her little arms around her neck and pulled him close. He patted her on the back and pulled away. “Stay out of trouble, and don’t get into any more electrified pools.”
She shot him a funny look. “You too,” she smiled, running over to her partner.
Her teacher passed by him, folding a piece of paper and sliding it into her pocket, which Steve could only assume to be Thor's number. He shook his head, looking back at Thor to see him staring at her retreating figure.
Thor caught Steve's eye, and he shrugged. “What? I like women, but you know, not in a creepy way.”
After the first class came through, the rest of the groups were easy; having got the lay-of-the-land and knowing what to say. Although towards the end of the day, the older kids, the 2nd graders, asked more daring questions, in which Steve tried to keep it G or PG.
“And with that, class is dismissed,” Danvers stated, plopping down in one of the fold-up chairs, sighing loudly.
“Hear, hear,” Sam nodded, plopping down next to her. “It’s the repetition that gets me. I could go home and fall asleep right now. Who knew kids could be so exhausting. I praise the teachers cause I know I couldn’t put up with their shit all the time.” Everyone murmured in agreement.
“How are you all tired?” Thor asked with his hands on his hips.
“We weren’t at the coloring station. We were explaining and answering questions trying to keep things kid-friendly.”
“Well, you should’ve been. In my opinion, it’s the best station.”
“No, the trucks are, the arts and crafts station is the boring table. The kids were talking about it,” Bucky added, folding up a few chairs.
“Doesn’t matter, I got a few numbers. And...” he walked over to the snack table, taking the last of YN cookies “--I got the last cookie,” he chuckled, taking a bite.
“Let’s quit complaining about what activity was better and remember it was about teaching the kids,” Danvers stated. “Now, let’s get this cleaned up, so the crew can do their job tonight.” Everyone mumbled, nodding in agreement.
Thor snapped the container to your Tupperware shut, shoving the last bite of cookie in his mouth. “I could drop off the Tupperware tonight if you’d like. I’m meeting up with her after her shift,” Steve offered, packing up the leftover snacks.
“Yes, I suppose you could, but if they go missing and she doesn’t get them. This all comes back to me, and I don’t need that on my conscience right now.”
“Probably a good idea you do it then,” Steve chuckled.
____________
Standing in front of the mirror, you try to get your hair to do a thing, but it isn’t doing the thing, so you decide to leave it as is. A buzzing sound at the front door brings an excited smile to your face. You trotted down the stairs, seeing Steve and Cosmo at the gate. You buzzed them in and went into the kitchen to grab two wine glasses and a bottle from your stash. You set them on the kitchen island, hearing Cosmo barking on the other side of the door. You smirked to yourself, walking over to the front door, remembering Steve mentioning how much Cosmo missed you. It was utter nonsense, but you couldn’t help but smile. You opened the front door, and your smile quickly disappeared.
“Billy.”
“Hi, honey. Did you miss me?”
_________
AN: Thanks for reading part 15! Those pesky cliffhangers! Where did Billy come from? Has he been watching her this whole time? Hmmmm....any theories?! And of course, all of this had to happen when things between her and Steve were finally going forward. It's almost like I planned it! Muwahaha! And speaking of Steve...what could’ve happened to him and Cosmo? Besides the ending, did you like Thor and her little chitchat, the brother-sister bonding sesh. We did learn that Thor clearly still blames himself for what happened way back then, but maybe now after their little chat, he will finally start forgiving himself, but who knows with the current revelation happening! 😬 And Val and Carol, did anyone guess that happening?! Also, did you enjoy fire safety day?! I thought it would be a good throwback to the first chapter and bring Morgan back, and I thought it would just be cute seeing the team trying to keep things G/PG when talking about their job. Haha! Better prepare yourself for the next couple chapters, cause things are going get deep! As always thanks for reading, comments always welcome!

Too Many Questions (Kabuto x Reader)

Notes: I got my requests mixed up so this is just the fourth continuation of the other three Kabuto x Orochimaru’s child
Tumblr media
Scientific technique tended to follow a recipe: a meticulous set of measurements and steps created by even more meticulous people. And all and all, it made experimental scientists like Kabuto surprisingly good cooks. He always liked the chemistry side of what he did. Boiling down the complex subject matter, Orochimaru had always excelled in genetics and molecular biology, but Kabuto always found a semblance of peace in the structure of chemistry. He had his ingredients, how much of each, and instructions on how to use them. Cooking was, after all, a science for the most part.
Like Orochimaru, you were mostly genetics and worse, you came without direction. At least with his mentor, he knew what to expect and how to act, but not with you. Even as another product of Orochimaru’s lab, Kabuto struggled to identify you let alone know how you fit into the ensemble that were the followers of the Snake Sannin. You lovingly referred to Orochimaru as ‘otousan’ although he never claimed any biological relation to you. Meanwhile, Orochimaru considered Kabuto a son. Kabuto considered you confusing along with the rest of the situation.
You were sweet. The thought reentered his mind as you sat on top of the counter of the small, designated kitchen space. The room used to be another laboratory before the need for a cooking space and it still looked like one. You kicked your legs the slightest bit as you watched on. You were nothing like Orochimaru. Versatile, strong, and capable, but nothing resembling the dubious personality of the man you called your father. And as Kabuto eyed you back, he couldn’t help but wonder if it was all a trick. If you were all a trick, a ploy to secretly surveil him.
“How do you know what to do?” you asked with wide, bright eyes. Kabuto glanced up from his board of cut vegetables. Once again, far too sweet. “When did you learn how to cook?”
You always asked too many questions. If there was one thing that you ‘got’ from Orochimaru, your curiosity was certainly it. After all, you had never left the underground for anything other than the occasional mission work. Kabuto couldn’t fault you for that, but he’d most definitely look down on you anyway.
“I know everything,” he lied mockingly. You frowned.
“That doesn’t answer my question.” You looked on as Kabuto turned to open a cabinet, frown deepening the slightest bit. “We may live underground but I don’t live under a rock.” Kabuto hummed to himself, plucking out a pan and setting it next to his wire rack of eggs.
“Yesterday’s experiment called for twenty milliliters of maleic acid in a round bottom flask.” He held up the pan in one hand and then an egg in the other. “Flask, acid.”
“But one of the main purposes of choosing that type of flask is for measurement. You’re not doing any measurements.” Kabuto paused more in annoyance than anything. You couldn’t let an explanation be an explanation. You had the ability to poke holes in everything, to point out the most blatant inconsistencies in his work that he wouldn’t have caught until it was too late. It got to him.
“Eggs give roughly around the same yield each time,” he said, ignoring you. He held up a pat of butter on a knife. “We added half a milliliter at a time of water. Half a square of butter onto the pan and if we need more we’ll add a bit more.”
“Roughly?” You glanced down at him from where you sat and Kabuto resisted a deep sigh.
“Added hydrochloric acid and equipped with a magnetic stirrer…” He added the tiny pieces of vegetables to the egg in the pan and began to stir with his spatula.
Kabuto quickly decided that you were a displacement reaction. It was almost as if you would come into his head and move everything two inches to the left. Your structure was familiar, it stayed the same but you were prone to completely and unpredictably rearranging his perception of the world. You ran on a pattern, Kabuto knew that. All chemicals abided by some sort of law, but he hadn’t quite cracked yours.
He thought long and hard as he finished up the omlet, resenting the fact that he couldn’t tell whether or not he despised you. And then you were out the door, likely bored with his silence.
“Thanks for the food, Kabuto-kun!” He glanced down at where his plate should have been.
His palm ran over his face. Once again, he had no idea what to make of you.
Notes: Hahaha I’m dying. If anyone was curious, the experiment Kabuto is describing is the beginning of an isomerization exercise.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed and otherwise supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.

Mooncakes
Sure the “Mooncakes” are a great gag for a space-themed shop, but mooncakes are also a traditional confection for the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival. Even though we never actually see the mooncakes in the episode “Little Graduation,” I thought it might be nice to attempt this--and though it was my first time making mooncakes, I think I did okay and can teach you! I’m not an expert so please defer to experts for full traditional processes, but see below for my process!
See more SU food tutorials!
"Hey Sadie! I got your mooncakes."
Tumblr media
These are pretty symbolic! In many Asian countries, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a big deal and may include an area-specific type of mooncake. Mooncakes have a few different associated stories, but the main one I saw was about an archer who received an immortality potion in exchange for a heroic deed, but he didn't swallow the potion because he didn't want to leave his wife. But then the wife ends up swallowing it because she is in possession of it when an apprentice tries to steal it. She then runs away to the moon and the heartbroken archer gave offerings in her memory, including cakes like these.
They celebrate the roundest, fullest moon and symbolize it with an entire egg yolk inside!
Let's make some.
Ingredients:
For dough:
60 grams honey
25 grams vegetable oil
100 grams cake flour
For filling:
6 salted duck egg yolks
1 package red bean paste
Tumblr media
You'll also need an egg to use for egg wash.
Please note that I am using honey instead of the more traditional golden syrup plus lye water. I read online that you can substitute honey for 60 grams of golden syrup plus 1/4 teaspoon lye water. I decided not to chase down these relatively difficult-to-find ingredients if I was going to need such a tiny amount of lye water and wasn't going to need it for anything else I regularly make. Mooncakes made with golden syrup and lye water are darker in color and softer.
You'll also need some special equipment: a rolling pin and a broad cutting board, but most notably, you'll want a traditional stamp mold to make the shapes cute and to have traditional designs!
Tumblr media
Directions:
To make the dough, first you should mix the honey and vegetable oil together in a bowl.
Tumblr media
Sift your cake flour into another bowl and then add most of it in one addition. Mix it together with a fork into a smooth dough.
Tumblr media
If it's cohesive and appears like adding more flour would dry it out, don't add the last little bit of flour, but if it's still sticky and wet, add it all. Once you have a smooth dough, wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for half an hour.

Then make the filling. You'll first need to remove the yolks from the eggs. They will have white stuck to them (you do not need the white in this recipe). You should wash the egg white away and then dry the yolks.

Wrap each yolk with bean paste and roll it into a ball. Put them aside for now. If they feel too soft to easily hold shape or wrap in pastry later, you can put them in the refrigerator.

Roll out the dough into small circles.
Tumblr media
Put a ball of filling inside each one.
Tumblr media
Fold the pastry around the filling and roll it into a ball, making sure it's even on all sides. People who are better at this than I am can probably get these fillings and pastry coverings thinner. But I'm not great at it so mine are huge.
Tumblr media
Roll the completed mooncake ball in some flour.

Then also get your mold's stamps dusted with flour. Put your ball on the baking sheet you'll be using and use the mold on it to get the fancy shape. Pushing the stamper down multiple times will get the shape and design nice and clear.

Cute!!
Tumblr media
Bake it (middle of the oven!) at 350º F/175º C for five minutes.
Tumblr media
You have to do 5 minutes to help solidify the design before you do the egg wash.
Take them out after 5 minutes and brush with egg wash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then bake another 10 minutes.
Tumblr media
If you have trouble with them looking cracked, mist them lightly with water part way through the baking. Remove from the oven to cool.
Tumblr media
Don't eat them right away. They'll taste better after several days in an airtight container.

And that's what mooncakes are like!

Panga Fish Mousseline
Tumblr media
This light, airy and delicious Panga Fish Mousseline, makes excellent use of leftover fish and is an entrée fit for a Festive table!
Ingredients (serves 4 to 6):
olive oil
340 grams/12 ounces leftover steamed panga fish (Pangasius bocourti)
6 fluffy sprigs Garden Cilantro
a pinch of fleur de sel or sea salt flakes
¼ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 heaped tablespoon thick crème fraîche or sour cream
2 tablespoons dry white wine, like Gros Plant du Pays Nantais
1 tablespoon good quality Cognac
2 large egg whites
a pinch of salt
Hollandaise Sauce, warmed, to serve
The day before serving the terrine, preheat oven to 160°C/320°F. Lightly grease a 600-millilitre/20-fluid-ounce terrine dish with olive oil. Set aside
Cut panga fish into small chunks, and add to the bowl of a food processor.
Roughly chop Cilantro, and add to the food processor. Process until finely chopped, but before it becomes a paste. Spoon into a medium bowl. Season with fleur de sel and black pepper. Gently stir in crème fraîche. Then, drizzle with white wine and Cognac, and give a gentle stir until combined.
In another medium bowl, beat egg whites with a pinch of salt, gradually increasing speed to high, until stiff peaks just form.
Gently fold beaten egg whites into fish mixture. Spoon the fish mousse into the terrine dish, levelling the top with a spatula. Close with the lid and place in the middle of a large baking dish. Fill baking dish to three-quarters with warm water, to make a bain-marie.
Place baking dish in the middle of the oven, and cook in the bain-marie, 30 minutes, at 160°C/320°F. Once cooked remove bain-marie from the oven, and let cool, half an hour.
Place mousseline in the refrigerator, to chill and set overnight.
The next day, carefully and gently up-turn fish mousseline onto serving dish.
Serve Panga Fish Mousseline, with warm Hollandaise Sauce, toasted bread, and a glass of chilled Sèvre et Maine sur Lie Muscadet or Gros Plant du Pays Nantais.

It was the first official day of camp. Aelin was slightly disappointed by the basic ice cream sandwiches that were apparently the well sought-after prize, she almost felt bad for sabotaging Rowan over such a thing.
Nonetheless, Aelin got dressed along with the rest of her campers. They sleepily weaved around each other as they readied for the busy day ahead. Pulling on a generic tank top and shorts while shoving her hair in a ponytail, Aelin decided she was ready enough.
“Alright, everyone has to apply sunscreen before we go!” Aelin reminded the group as she squeezed toothpaste onto her brush. She received a couple of okays in return.
Finally, she and the rest of the camps made it to the dining hall where eggs and mini pancakes were being served. Aelin spotted Rowan Whitethorn from across the room, hunched over the small, white table surrounded by his friends from the other day.
She made her way to the line forming for food, consequently passing Rowan’s table in the process.
“Hey, Rowan, look it’s the girl who kicked your ass!” She recognized Fenrys as the one making the snide comment. Rowan only glared.
Aelin tossed him a sweet smile, “The ice cream was delicious by the way!” She didn’t linger for a response, instead, she joined Lys in line, but she heard Fenrys laugh and slap Rowan on the back.
The rest of breakfast went without consequence, Aelin sat with Elide and Lys while keeping a close eye on her campers. She thought she’d likely just have to endure Rowan’s glares and frowns for the rest of the week in retaliation for her behavior.
Boy, was she wrong.
+++
It was midday and the afternoon sun was beating down on everyone. Aelin felt sticky with sweat and sunscreen as she sat down with the rest of her campers on a bench painted with a peeling, light green rouge in front of the stage.
Every day, before lunch, the camps were scheduled to gather back in the center. It was a time for kids to hydrate and camps got the chance to perform skits or play games. So far, Aelin’s group had gotten plenty of time on the rock climbing wall. She was enjoying herself despite the weather, she was having fun getting to know her campers.
Now, Aelin was desperately gulping down water as Gavriel appeared on stage.
“Hey, guys! I hope everyone is having a good first day at camp so far! As you know we at Camp Staghorn like to take this time for some fun between the camps! First up on today’s agenda camp 12 has a special skit they’re apparently dying to perform, so without further ado, everyone give it up for camp 12!” The crowd responded in claps and even a few whistles.
Gavriel exited the stage and handed Rowan the microphone as he did so. Rowan hopped on stage with his group of boys in tow, they all looked giddy, practically bouncing in their shoes.
“Hi everyone, I’m Rowan, camp 12’s counselor, and today-”
“We will be baking a cake!” A little boy screamed into the mic, interrupting Rowan.
“Uh, yes, a cake.” Rowan was adorably awkward on stage, Aelin had to admit.
Rowan passed the microphone down to another little boy, “First, we need a volunteer!” The boy shouted enthusiastically into the mic. Hands shot up around Aelin, kids were half out of their seats jumping up and down in an attempt to obtain the boys’ attention.
“Hm,” the boy mused as he surveyed the crowd. Rowan bent down and whispered something in his ear and that’s when the boy pointed right at Aelin. “We will take you as a volunteer!”
Aelin’s girls giggled and started trying to push her out of her seat, she rolled her eyes playfully and made her way on stage. Once she was up there the boy instructed her to sit in a chair that had been pulled onto the stage. Aelin did as told and waited. She wasn’t quite sure what was about to happen but Aelin was never one to turn down the spotlight.
“Alright, everyone knows the first ingredient that’s called for in every cake recipe is flour,” Rowan now spoke into the microphone once again. Aelin waited patiently for directions when suddenly a mound of flour was poured into her lap. It coated her, the flour stuck to her sunscreen and covered her face, attempting to wipe it off was futile.
“Don’t forget the eggs!” A boy yelled and then Aelin truly almost lost it.
An egg had been cracked atop her head and was sliding down her hair, she could feel it. The kids were laughing hysterically now, all thinking it was one big joke but Aelin was seeing red. She was honestly shocked and trying to process what the hell just happened.
“We need sugar too!” As soon as a granule of sugar made contact with Aelin’s hair, she hopped out of the chair, still wiping at the flour around her eyes.
“What the he- heck!” Aelin demanded, turning to face Rowan with a scowl.
“Did I not mention it was a human cake?” Rowan grinned, looking mighty pleased with himself.
Aelin wanted to punch the stupid smile off his face. She wanted to curse him out with every dirty word that she could think up but the laughter of children reminded her of their audience.
“I’m afraid you didn’t,” she responded in the coldest tone she could muster. Rowan only shrugged then wiped his finger through the flour on her cheek.
“You’re a little under-baked.”
It took every ounce of Aelin’s self-control to walk off the stage and back to her cabin to wash off without murdering Rowan Whitethorn.
Poor Rowan had started a war with the wrong girl.
+++
As dinner approached Aelin had thought up about 10 different ways she could get Rowan back and she kept a mental list of all of them.
Her campers were well aware of Aelin’s foul mood and let her have her space as the day went on. The wheels kept turning in her mind until Aelin deduced she had a perfect plan to get him back tonight, it wasn’t anything too crazy, no. Aelin wanted to start small, minor inconveniences until she could really fuck him over as the week progressed.
Aelin and the girls were taking a stroll around the lake when she turned to them. “How do you guys feel about getting camp 12 back for their little skit this afternoon?”
The girls raised their eyebrows and a little girl named Ansel spoke up, “Like a prank war?”
“Yeah, like a prank war,” Aelin considered. The girls giggled at that and were totally on board as Aelin explained her master plan.
+++
The camps were meant to be eating down at the lake tonight, cuddled up around campfires and each camp had their own pre-packed dinners to bring down there. Aelin and her girls went to the dining hall early, ready to snatch up camp 12’s dinners well before they came to collect them.
Nobody was even there to question Aelin and her campers as they retreated with the dinners, slipping out of the dining hall with ease.
Now, it was time for phase two. It was a fairly simple plan, easy to execute. They stuffed all the dinners into a trash bag and ventured into the forest where there was a collection of mini ziplines that traversed a flowing creek.
It was just too easy to tie up the trash bag onto one of the ziplines and send it off until it was dangling above the middle of the muddy stream.
“Looks good girls, now let's go get our dinner,” Aelin turned around to the group of girls all wearing wicked smiles.
So, Aelin made her second trip to the dining hall that evening to claim her camp’s dinners. She decided to leave Rowan a little note on a napkin where his food was supposed to be, she intended for him to know exactly who had done it.
I heard there’s special dining tonight at the staghorn mini ziplines

She even added a little heart for emphasis.
