In honor of me having so much video game music downloaded on my phone that I ran out of storage and had to buy a new phone. My favorite track from each video game OST I have!
Bastion: Brusher Patrol (Such a bizarre clash of styles, I can't help but love this one. Shout-out to the part that sounds like Darren quietly scatting in the background.) (Also special shout-out to Build That Wall, probably my favorite vocal track in any Supergiant game)
Celeste: Scattered and Lost (I am such a normie for this choice but face it this track absolutely slaps.)
Chicory: A Colorful Tale: Song of the Wielders (I love how this song has actual lyrics but I still prefer to sing along with the Simlish version that Pizza and Chicory sing.)
The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood: Illusion (First of all I love how every character in this game has their own theme I go feral for that kind of thing. Kurielle is probably one of the characters who stood out to me the least but by god is her theme gorgeous. I love the vocals and how a later track includes a sneaky reprise.)
Cuphead: Dramatic Fanatic (Tap dancing :D)
There are literally thirty of these so I'm doing a read more
Death's Door: The Grey Crow (A heartbreaking boss fight scored with the appropriate amount of anguish)
Deltarune: Cyber Battle (This melody is so underrated and ya know what, so are the characters associated with it. Sweet Cap'n Cakes forever.)
Elsinore: Donne, The Boat Boy (I love this song because it's associated with Lady Guildenstern, aka the best character in gaming full stop, but it's also just a fun little sea shanty that I think they made up for this game so I love that. Also has a lyrical version.)
Evergate: Police (Okay so the level with the police drones is one of the more frustrating ones in the game but the music is hauntingly beautiful so I give it a pass)
Going Under: trust fall (Marv is easily one of the most hateable video game antagonists of all time but damn if his boss theme doesn't slap)
Hades: Last Words (The rolling and the tolling of the bells bells bells bells bells)
Harmony: The Fall of Reverie: Reverie Ascendant (Lena Raine does these medley tracks so good man)
Hollow Knight: Dung Defender (By far the catchiest song about poop on my entire phone)
Ikenfell: Rose Thorns (So the insanely long final boss fight against Oxley overshadowed Aeldra's boss fight in my memory for a long time, but when I watched another playthrough and bought the OST I realized "Oh her theme bops SO much harder than his ever could")
Inscryption: A Final Duel (A hardcore remix of The Scrybe of Magicks, aka one of the only melodic tracks on the album and therefore the one every YouTube video about Inscryption uses in the background. I prefer the epic version just a bit more because honestly that Magnificus setpiece is the best moment in the game)
Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass: Fun, Sunny Day (A fun and silly track as the title suggests, elevated even more by the context in which it plays in the game. The area music alternates between this and the more somber Rainy Sunday to illustrate that Jimmy mother is bipolar [very cute and silly game])
Omori: Bready Steady Go (Like the absolute dipshit I am I actually completely missed the optional Orange Oasis when I played this game myself. Every Let's Player finds it somehow, though, and when they fight the Unbread Twins I invariably stand up and dance along to the boss music.)
One Step from Eden: Perpetual Motion (It's just a good-ass track y'all)
Ori and the Blind Forest: Conundrum (In a soundtrack of sweeping orchestral pieces, this more subdued version of theme that only plays during one small puzzle section might seem a weird choice. But I've always really liked it)
Ori and the Will of the Wisps: Kwolok's Malaise (Kwolok's leitmotif is perfect for a giant frog and the boss remix takes it to it's logical conclusion)
Paradise Killer: Go! Go! Style (This track makes me feel like I'm having a sugar rush. The whole OST does actually but this one especially)
Pyre: Path to Glory (It's just got a really unique vibe to it. I like it)
Scarlet Hollow: Avery (Chill and really beautiful. Avery themself is kind of a sleeper character at this point but I can't wait for Brandon to remix their theme when they get assimilated into a giant plant monster)
Slay the Princess: The Princess (Okay full disclosure I've only played this game once so I don't have the full context for a lot of the tracks on this OST. Maybe hearing them alongside their respective princesses will make me like them more, but for now the title theme is too iconic to beat.)
Sounds of Sympathy (the OST for the game anthology Essays on Empathy): Zen and the Art of Transhumanism (In the Essays on Empathy documentary, fingerspit talked about how she prefers writing obscenely long tracks so the loop doesn't get annoying. Unfortunately for her my favorite track on this album is only three minutes long. It's a lovely little bop.)
Spiritfarer: Mind Palace (I played Spiritfarer before any of the character updates were released, so I didn't get Daria's mind palace sequences in my game. And I mean, they look very platforming-heavy so I'm okay with that, but god this is a gorgeous piece.)
Transistor: Impossible (I think this is Royce Bracket's boss theme? I don't know when any of the tracks on this OST specifically play in game. Regardless of all that this one gets me pumped.)
Unavowed: One Man's Power (I couldn't find a video of this one, but it's gentle saxophone solo that plays when Logan Brown is introduced. I think it fits is character really well and just sounds really nice)
Undertale: Death by Glamour (Best song for best character, enough said)
Wandersong: Moonscape (God knows this game gave me a lot of great options to pick from, but I settled on this one because it's so uplifting.)

Can I request 36 and 39 from prompt list 2 with Beetlejuice? I adore your writing sm🛐 and I’m in desperate need of some angst.
no other shade of blue
Pairing: Beetlejuice x Reader
Inspiration: Prompts #36 (“stop pushing me away.”) and #39 (“don’t blame me, you know what you signed up for.”) from Prompt List 2
Warnings: alcohol consumption, cursing, angst, sexual references, beej and reader are kinda both assholes
Word Count: 1,550
Author’s Note: Sorry this took so long, anon! I know I say this a lot, but it’s been really hard for me to find creative inspiration these days. I’m going to blame the weather. But luckily now that the holidays are over, I might finally take my resolutions seriously and write more. Who knows!
Anyways, I love writing angst so I really need to do that more often. If you’d like to read more, check out my Masterlist and About Me page. And if you’d like to make a request, I have several Prompt lists for plenty of inspiration! As always, thanks everyone for the support. I really want to get better at writing this year, so that requires me to actually, ya know, write. Hopefully I stick to that! Happy 2024 and happy reading!

“So, you got a boyfriend?”
You couldn’t help but groan as you downed the shot he had so graciously bought you. He was a friend of a friend of a friend, and you were getting drunker by the second.
Your actual friends had decided on a dingy bar in the city that night, but you couldn’t help but look at the time nervously as they happily clamored around the pool table behind you. It was getting late.
“Oh, what an interesting and complicated question, Darren,” you replied, doing your absolute best not to slur your words. You exhaled, your elbows digging into the top of the bar. “Yes and no.”
Darren couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. He was cute, but definitely did not seem above taking advantage of a drunk girl with an ambiguous relationship status.
“Situationship?” he probed, pulling his beer towards his lips. You didn’t answer. “Been there. Can be fun, but…messy.”
A dry laugh escaped your lips. Messy didn’t even begin to cover it, but you didn’t have enough hours in the day to explain it to this guy. Nor did you want to.
“Yeah,” you said, toying with the shot glass, “He can be sweet but…I wouldn’t want to get on his bad side if I were you.”
“I’m tough.”
“Believe me, it’s not worth the trouble.”
“I’d like to decide that for myself, thanks,” he drawled, his eyelids heavy as he glanced towards the door. “Wanna get outta here?”
Before you knew it you were slammed up against the side of a building that made up a dimly-lit alleyway, the brick digging into your back as Darren kissed you aggressively.
Your eyes fluttered, trying to focus on the task at hand. But your attention turned the flickering streetlamp and menacing fog that seemed to be encroaching upon your impromptu hookup.
He nipped at your neck, and you couldn’t help but let out an involuntary moan. An action that you would certainly be paying for later.
“Shit,” you muttered, hearing a low growl in your ear. He was close, and you could only imagine the shitstorm he would cause if you continued to make out with this random.
You cursed the day you ever listened to Beetlejuice. He was persuasive in more ways than one, and if you didn’t act fast, things would get ugly.
“Hey,” you said as Darren came up for air, “I have to go, but, uh, I’ll call you?” He looked at you a little disappointed, but after a few moments and an awkward number exchange, you were left alone.
You looked around, making sure no other living person was in earshot. “Alright, show’s over, asshole!” you goaded, growing angrier by the second, “Come on out now.”
“You’ll call him?” an indignant voice bellowed, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes. Beetlejuice was nothing if not dramatic.
Ever since you summoned him—accidentally, you might add—the ghoul had been nothing but a thorn in your side. Unfortunately for you, you also happened to be drawn to the passionate energy that came with that kind of adversarial relationship.
It was a problem you knew would be better addressed in therapy. Instead, you thought it’d be a better idea to fuck the ghost.
“No, you idiot,” you shot back as the demon appeared, floating angrily above you, “You’ll make sure of that, won’t you?”
Beetlejuice’s feet hit the ground, his hair glowing bright red in the moonlight. He drew closer to you, a predator stalking its prey.
“I’ve been watching you all night, babe,” he hissed, your back hitting the wall yet again. Your body instantly tensed, the smell of death and decay overwhelming your senses. He shook his head, a mix of arousal and disgust flashing on his pale face.
Your eyes bore into his as they glowered with envy. “So?” you drew your shoulders back, straightening your spine, “We’re not together. Who I fuck or don’t fuck is none of your goddamn business.”
He laughed indignantly, “You think I’m threatened by that guy? Please.” His amber eyes flashed briefly with a twinge of insecurity.
“Then why go through the trouble of scaring him off, hm?” you goaded, “Afraid I’d finally found someone better?”
Beetlejuice couldn’t help but feel wounded. Sure, you both fought. A lot. But you couldn’t stay away from each other for long. You’d fight, you’d banish him, and then like clockwork, you’d call him back and reconcile, which usually involved ripping each other’s clothes off.
Despite never defining the relationship, the two of you couldn’t help feel possessive over one another. And because you had a vindictive streak, you didn’t care about using other guys to make him jealous.
“You and I both know that’s not true,” he growled, pressing a large hand against the wall as he inched closer to you, “And we also know that I’m a better fuck than any of those other breathers combined.” You inhaled, stifling your fear and shoving it back down your throat.
Beetlejuice’s gaze softened. Even for a dead guy, he could pick up on your mannerisms like no one else. “You’re so fucking stubborn, you know that? I just wish you would stop pushing me away. A demon can only take so much back and forth from one human.”
Your eyes narrowed, your face inching closer to his. You studied his expression for cracks in the façade that he loved to put up. It was just one of the many ways he liked to fuck with you.
“Ah, the ‘woe is me’ bullshit,” you smirked. “Don’t blame me, you know what you signed up for.”
Even in the dim streetlight, you could see Beetlejuice’s mood shift from pure scarlet anger to a melancholic swirl of violet and maroon. It would’ve been almost beautiful if you weren’t so pissed at him.
“And if I remember correctly, you were the one who didn’t want to be tied down,” you scoffed in disgust, reminding him of his many trysts down to the Netherworld, “It’s not my fault you can’t take the same bullshit that you dish out to me.”
You typically had a don’t ask, don’t tell policy; but recently, you could feel the jealousy between the two of you reaching a boiling point. You were looking for a fight, and you knew hooking up with another guy would send Beetlejuice over the edge.
“Drop the tough guy act, sweetheart,” he was almost pleading with you, ignoring the harshness he exhibited only moments ago. “You know I don’t want anyone else.”
‘Not in the ways that matter, anyways,’ he thought, unwilling to tack on that addendum verbally.
You felt hot tears forming in your eyes, but you held them back. You’d be damned if you let Beetlejuice see you cry, after all the vitriol you’d spat at him.
He finally backed away from you, giving you room to breathe. You peeled yourself from the brick wall, unsure how to proceed.
Beetlejuice considered sweeping you off your feet; maybe an attempt at wooing you would make you both forget the meaningless squabbling.
After all, that was how the two of you communicated: passionate fights and even more passionate sex.
Not exactly the healthiest relationship. And by the looks of it, this…thing between you was starting to take its toll.
“I don’t…I can’t believe you,” you muttered, your heart pounding in your chest. “W-We fight constantly, and I’m awful to you, and…I don’t like who I am when I’m with you, Beej.”
All red from the demon’s hair was instantly replaced with deep purples and blues. A sign of complete melancholy.
“I get it, babe,” he said, his voice dripping with despair. “What can I say? I bring out the worst in people.” He sounded disgusted with himself, like he knew this would happen eventually and he did nothing to prevent the inevitable.
It didn’t matter that he loved you more than any other breather. He couldn’t tell you. It was too late.
Beetlejuice knew he was broken, and now he had broken you too. And the thought of that made him want to die again and again.
You tried to speak but no words were able to escape your throat. You wanted to apologize, to tell him that no other guys mattered, that you could start over and figure it out.
But you couldn’t.
Instead, a strange sob came out, and you tried to shield yourself in the shadows of the alley so that he couldn’t see you. Beetlejuice cocked his head, a sad expression on his pale face.
“I should, uh, probably go then,” he said, his gravelly voice low. He usually relished in making breathers cry, but now he couldn’t even bare to look at you as tears streamed down your face.
You nodded, signaling that you wanted him to leave. “I’m…fuck, I’m sorry,” he said. He didn’t really know what else to say, the air thick between you.
You turned around to face him, salt stinging your eyes. But he was gone. Not even a stupid puff of green smoke left behind.
‘It’s for the best,’ you thought as you walked home alone.
Of course, you knew that thought wouldn’t stick; you knew you’d last three days maximum before you summoned that demon again.
Old habits die hard.

5+1 headcanons!
tagged by the glorious @gingerbreadmonsters to share my headcanons soooo guess we're doing that! Heyyyyyy @agentplutonium , @dominimoonbeam and @soup-scope , no pressure but I'm curious about what's in those noggins
rules: share 5 redactedverse headcanons you hold, plus 1 headcanon you're still working on!
Darlin used to be in a band with Quinn & Honey - They were called Rose n' Thorns, Darlin went under the alias Rose as the lead vocalist, Quinn was Thorns, the backup vocalist and Honey was the drummer. They were a metal rock band that blended the genre with Japanese lyrics in their songs (yes, this specifically is pulling on my Darlin, Darren Lancer)
Damien walks around his own place nude, he'll even sunbathe nude if he can. I couldn't tell you why I have this headcanon, I just have it. I think he just likes the suns rays or something, idk but none of the DAMN polycule mind it at all.
Daemons/Demons don't naturally have a set appearance as a race, their astral and physical forms are based on their psyche (traumas, personas, likes, core traits) thus none of them will ever share distinct traits regardless of being of the same classification. Some will look completely alien, others will look mostly human and some have fluid appearances.
OK SO GINGER METNIONING IMPERIUM BROUGHT THIS UP FOR ME. Shades are dead folk from imperium trying to steal life in order to materialize their form so that they can get another chance at a better life in the prime universe.
Morgan loves butterflies, it's his special interest. I don't think he has them framed but like he has notebooks filled with drawings and notes of different butterflies and what makes them all unique. Oh and Morgan is autistic.
PLUS 1!
Not a headcanon but I never said I played these games fairly ;3 I'm currently rewriting Vincent to be more interesting IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love him but making him a mentally ill nihilist with a tendency for over indulgence and recklessness that masks that with a rich kid persona is so fun and I won't apologize for it. I just think it makes him more fun and allows for his growth and change to mean more while he struggles with taking accountability for his actions,

So what is this romance mod all about? I play Skyrim on the Switch so I can't download it anyway. But as far as I heard about it, it doesn't seem to be a good mod. Also, ballroom stuff in the middle of the wartime seems very unrealistic to me
You're right, it is very unrealistic to imagine. Seeing it is like getting whiplash, and I've only watched playthroughs of it. I play on a Switch too, so everything I know is from others' playthroughs and my own research.
The Skyrim Romance Mod adds a fully voiced male follower by the name of Bishop to serve as a "dynamic" love interest for any female Dragonborn. The romance is advertised as being believable and realistic compared to the quick and easy Amulet of Mara marriages of vanilla Skyrim. In addition to Bishop, encounters with potential "rival" love interests are added throughout Skyrim, as well as hecklers in several taverns, a prostitute and new barkeep in The Bannered Mare (does not affect Hulda and co.), an endgame cottage, and a cute wolf named Karnwyr.
(Karnwyr is the only pure thing in this mod, by the way.)
"Potential" love interests include Casavir the Paladin (Solitude), Darren the Mage (Winterhold), Alec the Prince of Song (WIndhelm) — these three have quests. Raven the Thief (Rifte), Captain Jack (Solitude Docks; no, not Jack Sparrow OR Harkness, unfortunately), and Cael the Forsworn (near Markarth) have encounters, but no real quests to accompany them. There's also a bandit named Thorn who wants to noncon the Dragonborn, but the player gets to kill him.
A major problem in the SRM is that its portrayal of a "realistic" romance in Bishop is way more toxic than any true romance. He constantly demeans the Dragonborn's intelligence, sexualizes her, makes suggestive and jealous comments in front of other characters, is ALWAYS wanting sex, and has nothing nice to say about her quest to fulfill her destiny or about her allies. He hates Lydia, he hates the Greybeards, and he hates Skyrim itself. His only redeeming quality is his wolf, Karnwyr, and once you get Karnwyr (you have to rescue him from pit fighters somewhere in the Rift), the wolf automatically follows you so you don't even need Bishop longer than it takes to get Karnwyr. (Just saying . . .)
Outside of the mod but connected to it: There's been a lot of controversy connected to the original mod creator, Mara. I'd rather not get into what she's done, myself, but you can find out all about it by googling 'Skyrim romance mod incident'.

LONAN KILLS REEVE IN SV?!?!!!
HE DOES LOL
explanation & excerpts under the cut! <3
CW: murder/death/torture/trauma
okay so I am the DRAMA--obviously Reeve is still alive, but she does technically die and only survives what happens because of Harrison (king <3).
TL;DR: Lonan is brainwashed by his tyrannical family & is sent on a literal mission to kill his sister. He does, but Harrison "revives" her with his magic (the icon the legend the man himself).
More details: So back in 2015 when I was writing book 3 of the original series, Lonan was ALSO brainwashed, but by his other sister Anna and Anna's girlfriend Kate who were mad at him for some reason (I can't remember why exactly, everyone is mad at Lonan in that book LOL). The logistics of how this was done are quite fuzzy because I was 13 :) but essentially think of Lonan as a bluetooth speaker who could be controlled remotely! <3
In this state, Lonan almost kills Reeve a couple of times (and this is when they love each other! not when they don't know they're siblings and have been trying to murder each other!). This DEEPLY upsets him and becomes a major point of tension for his characterization (I believe he makes Harrison promise to kill him if he tries to hurt his sister again, which is... on brand for right now <3). At that point in the series, Lonan's biggest fear is that he's still a terrible person--he's struggling to be redeemable even to himself. So to hurt the most important person in his life at the time, his sister... oof. He's not happy.
I wanted to bring this back into SV, since I love recycling old material into this book to relive the joy of writing them originally (not me... finding joy in psychologically torturing these siblings oops). So Lonan is once again "programmed," but the logistics make more sense because this is done through magical means. Lonan in SV is an extremely controlled person. Every move he makes is monitored, and what little good he does have in his life are used against him to torture him (like... his girlfriend... who I haven't talked about on here... but we can!).
Reeve isn't an exception to this. The play by play of what happens here is that the squad (Harrison, Reeve, Darren, Foster), have all been looking for Humilitas (the magical bird that's been missing for a while/the magical bird that Lonan is part of). They locate Humilitas (Harrison flew on the back of a giant bird who showed him where he was :) lol :)) and this is great! This has been their goal the whole time. But then this happens:
“Humilitas,” she says, inching her fingers toward its face. Her eyes sparkle like she’s seeing a saint, a god, even. She begins to smile, so close to touching him.
A branch snaps.
Not delicate. A weighted sound. A human sound.
Harrison spins around.
He doesn’t believe what he’s seeing at first. Surely, he’s hallucinating, sicker than he’d initially thought, bombarded by strange, unrealistic visions. Black hair like a silken cut of obsidian. Fingers precise, thin. Eyes kingfisher blue and as hot as a gas flame.
“Lonan?” he says, dazed, hardly able to make out his name without slurring every letter. Harrison lurches forward to where he stands, ten, twenty feet away, barely catches himself on a bramble bush. Thorns skewer his palm, but he feels no pain, not even when blood seeps down his wrist, candle wax overflowing. Instead, his mouth foams, his knees so weak that on his next step forward, he falls onto his elbows.
(there's a Feeding Habits easter egg here with the kingfisher eye description--which is the way Suzanna describes Harrison's eyes to Lonan awww. Also I love that feverish Harrison can describe Lonan once again like a painting. My god.)
Harrison is so stunned and is ALSO physically ill at this sight (relatable content <3). No, but really, he is quite literally sick (H&L are bonded through magical bird things & being so close is... not good for them at this point).
Reeve is so excited that she doesn't really notice Harrison's Suffering (TM). This happens:
As if she’s never seen Humilitas, as if he no longer matters, as if she’s an elk running from a mountain lion or a mountain lion chasing an elk, as if the earth no longer matters either, as if she is wind and he is alive, he is alive, as if, no matter who tries, no one can stop her, Reeve launches at her brother with full force.
And then we get... the actual drama:
Lonan raises an arm. From the ground, as Harrison watches through jittering eyes, he looks as if he’s going to hug her. They could be children again, reunited after a summer trip apart, one about to spin the other in greeting. Reeve is crying, tears glittering off her chin like flakes of shattered glass. She wraps her arms around her brother, shaking, sobbing, shocked as a rat snapped in a trap.
Lonan looks at her. His arm still raised. Does he smile? Harrison’s vision has spotted so badly that he can hardly tell.
Against the deep backdrop of night, a glint.
Harrison gasps. He wills himself to get up, to run to her. Ash. Bone.
But by then it’s too late. One moment, Reeve clutches her brother, and the next, he gouges a knife straight through her heart.
Aaand that's how part two ends. Fun!
We start part three in Reeve's first solo POV chapter, where Darren explains what happened:
“You died,” he whispers. Reeve blinks. “I saw you. On the ground. I swear, I got to you not even a second after he hurt you, yet you were gone. I looked at you and I thought, I’m going to have to bury her.”
(THHHEEE ROMANNNNCCEE)
She also sees the consequence of Harrison's magic (that did bring her back in the end!):
What marks her chest: a pattern the colour of soot, radiating from around the bandage covering the puncture.
Permanently grafted on her skin are the sun’s waving rays.
Harrison doesn't actually know how to use his magic at this point in the books/what his magic even is. But seeing his bestie literally die is... too much for him, and instinct just takes over really fast. This is the opening of chapter 17 and where the title of book 2 comes from:
From Harrison’s bloody fingertips: a hot, bright ribbon scatters from his body and across the ground, bounding like a heartbeat. Watch as it ripples and ignites a line of maple leaves, beating to the same rhythm as the words she can’t die. She can’t die. She can’t die. Not after all of this. Not now. Watch as it climbs over her thigh, side, stomach, a messenger with its goal in target. Watch as it stabs her body as the knife previously did, how upon contact with her heart, her entire figure luminesces. She becomes a Madonna on that sunless ground, haloed in light.
^^ get you a best friend who is so stubborn he refuses to let you die so miraculously uses his magic to save you <3 aw
After this, Harrison passes out for a long time. He's not aware of how terrible of a state he was in (also near dying) until he talks to Foster:
“Where’s Reeve?” he asks. Though he’d been feverish and near-unconscious on the ground, he’d seen the look on her face as her body fell. Her smile of relief punctured with some sick mix of shock and horror.
“She’s okay,” Foster says, and glances out the private room’s exit. “Darren’s with her.”
That’s all it takes for Harrison to move. He rips off the catheter in his nose, peeling up the tape securing several tubes to the back of his hands.
“Hey—” “Don’t get in my way,” Harrison growls when Foster goes to herd him back into the cot.
“You’re not well—”
Harrison yanks all the wiring knotted around his body so harshly that one of the monitors checking his vitals appears to shut down.
“Does this look like the work of an unwell man?”
(LEGENDARY DIALOGUE HARRISON ^^)
We ALSO get Harrison going beast mode and calling Foster by his actual name LOL:
“Get out of my way, August,” Harrison nearly shouts. If Reeve is in this infirmary, alone with a man who sure, cares about her, but that isn’t him, he will damn well get to her.
And of course, he's back to wanting to kill Lonan:
Harrison crosses his arms. “I’m going to find Reeve. And then I’m going to kill Lonan.”
It’s the first time he’s said the words aloud, the words that’ve hummed in his body since he awoke. Kill Lonan.
“I can’t let you do that.”
“I don’t need your permission.”
At this point, no one actually knows Lonan did this unintentionally because he's been unable to tell them because someone may or may not be trying to kill him as we speak!
And strangely, Harrison also has matching markings on his palms like the one Reeve has on her chest:
When his palms are naked again, he doesn’t even question the black solar markings in the centre of each palm—nothing matters. Lonan cannot die. “Hey,” Harrison says, hands trembling even harder now as he tugs the hem of Lonan’s shirt upward to reveal the wound, likely pierced through, or close to his heart. Lonan’s mouth hangs open, like he’s trying to say something, but Harrison won’t let him. No goodbyes.
(not me just leaving this excerpt here as if this isn't going to open up a whole bunch more question LOOOL I'm evil and also willing to talk more <3)
Eventually, when everything settles down, Harrison confronts Lonan about what the actual fuck happened that night he "killed" Reeve:
“One of the first things I told you was not to look for me. Why did you?”
Harrison laughs. He doesn’t think. He’s not even sure what it means—if he’s genuinely amused, or if he’s shocked, or if he’s angry. “Why wouldn’t I look for you?”
“I told you not to.”
When Harrison laughs again, he’s absolutely sure why—exasperation ripples off his body. “You were haunting my dreams to the point where I couldn’t sleep. Your sister begged me to help find you. And besides, you found us.”
“But you shouldn’t have saved me. You should’ve left. It would’ve been best—”
“Are you telling me I should’ve let you die? Forget you for a second—what about Reeve? She should’ve died too?”
Lonan looks over to him—Harrison feels his gaze on his face, but now he’s looking at his hands, trying to force them to still with his mind. He’s not angry. Lonan is not ungrateful. He’s not angry. Lonan is not ungrateful.
“Harrison,” Lonan says after a moment. “My family is dangerous. I wanted to keep you as far from this as I could—”
“But you didn’t,” Harrison says, his voice breaking. “You gave me half your power. You knew they would look for me if you took what made you useful and gave it to me. And you did it anyway. You put a target on my back.”
“That target was always on your back. From the moment you were born it was on your back. I needed to be certain you could keep yourself safe when something happened. Not if.”
“Safe?” Harrison almost shouts. Out of everything he’s considered himself in the whirlwind of the last few weeks, safe was the absolute last one. And the absurdity of this implication, as if Harrison would even understand how to use his own magic to keep himself safe. He’s somehow managed to keep himself alive and burned himself on a fork—Lonan didn’t gift him his powers and a manual to use them. Safe. Impulsively, he yanks his hands from his pocket, splaying open his fingers to reveal his palm and the black sunrays tattooed onto the centre. “This is what you’ve done to me, Lonan. This is what you’ve done to Reeve.”
Lonan’s brows perk up, and now he’s trying very hard to catch Harrison’s gaze. “What is this about Reeve?”
(For context on the "what about Reeve" dialogue--since Lonan is the Virtue, if he dies, which is impossible since he's immortal but... almost happened lol, his whooooole family dies with him. Also: "burned himself on a fork" I'm crying LOL)
From this excerpt, we can tell Lonan clearly has no idea what happened and what he did to Reeve (accurate to the OG books). This may or may not lead to a nervous breakdown.......... oops!
Anyway so that's the explanation!
I love spoiling SV. Always happy to talk about it!

I slipped into my new clothes, then looked for socks and shoes. Mr. Crepsley shook his head when he saw me searching. “No footwear,” he said. “We go barefoot.”
“Over snow and ice?” I yelped.
“Vampires have harder feet than humans,” he said. “You will barely feel the cold, especially when we are walking.”
“What about stones and thorns?” I grumbled.
“They will toughen your soles up even more.” He grinned, then took off his slippers. “It is the same for all vampires. The way to Vampire Mountain is not just a journey — it is a test. Boots, jackets, ropes: Such items are not permitted.”
