Critics are saying a new bill introduced into the Texas Legislature this year will only encourage a bounty-hunting trend that targets drag queens and transgender people. Texas state GOP Rep. Steve Toth filed House Bill 4378 on Thursday, March 9 that will allow anyone in Texas to sue people who perform in drag or host a drag performance where children are present.
The bill targets events like family-friendly brunch shows at restaurants or drag queen story time events at libraries or other family-oriented drag queen events. The bill says that people who sue a person or venue can be awarded $5,000 in damages.
Erin Reed, a transgender rights activist and independent reporter, tweeted about HB 4378 on Saturday, March 11, saying that the piece of legislation could easily be used to target transgender people who perform.
Tumblr media
The bill defines drag as "a performance in which a performer exhibits a gender that is different than the performer’s gender recorded at birth." It goes on to say this performance can involve using makeup and clothing to dance, lip sync, or perform "in a lascivious manner."
Tumblr media
The bill joins 17 other proposed pieces of Texas legislation that targets transgender people, drag queens, and the LGBTQ+ community. The Advocate reported in November 2022 that Texas legislators have proposed anti-LGBTQ+ bills for the upcoming legislative session. This now includes HB 4378 and the recent heterosexual tax cut bill from state Rep. Bryan Slaton.
That proposed bill would provide massive tax cuts, up to 100%, for straight families that stay married and have children. Slaton also pushed a bill that would have outlawed minors at drag shows.

Lizzo defies drag ban  by inviting drag queens on stage in Tennessee
Pink News writes:
“In an act of defiance against Tennessee’s anti-drag law, Lizzo has performed in the state with a whole bunch of Drag Race faves and local queens, and yes, it was iconic.”
Tumblr media
Lizzo said:
“In light of recent and tragic events and current events, I was told by people on the internet, ‘Cancel your shows in Tennessee,’ ‘Don’t go to Tennessee,’ ‘We don’t have to go there’.
“Their reasons were valid. But why would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most, the people who need to feel this release the most?
“Why would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences? And celebrate fat Black women?”
Together we can beat the Fascists.

Sorry english people, but what follows is too french an opinion to voice in english (I'll sum it up for u in the end <3)
(And words of wisdom from my evil advisor @quijicroix : légende vivante (de Lorenzo) ça va avec tout.
Welcome back english people ! To sum it up : la vie en rose is a french song for tourists that set up a fight or flight reaction in every native speaker. I'm glad people enjoyed this, but I cannot describe the cringe and disappointment I felt when they decided to have him sing this song- (even tho he sings it beautifully (which is part of the disappointment))
They are SO MUCH love songs in french, why this one.
PS : at this point (ep7) I don't know why Stede is still bothering with Ed "I'm hitting the banks didn't tell him which one" teach, when Izzy hands is right there ????? Sir please open your eyes

What a fool believes.
Tumblr media
October 24, 2022
For generations, conservative leaders have conditioned their followers to accept as true all sorts of nonsensical notions in order to keep them terrified and outraged. Back in the day it was far-fetched plots to poison our drinking water with fluoride and menacing visions of godless Commies under our beds.
In the last few years we've been treated to lurid tales of caravans filled with brown-skinned immigrant hordes flooding across our border, bringing drugs and crime. Or, hysterical warnings about Democrats coming to seize your guns. Or, fanciful yarns about Barrack Obama's Kenyan birth and Muslim religion.
Then in 2017 QAnon came along. This absurd conspiracy theory generated an array of beliefs on the radical right for which the word "deranged" is hardly adequate. The most famous of these was the one claiming that Hillary Clinton's emails contained coded messages connecting high-ranking Democratic Party officials with a cannibalistic child sex trafficking ring located at the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria in Washington, DC. Followers of the anonymous Q also believe drinking bleach can cure COVID and John F. Kennedy, Jr., who was killed in a plane crash in 1999, is still alive.
Lately, it's gotten exponentially nuttier. To the point that nothing is too ridiculous for today's Republican — who, of course, "does his own research." One MAGA belief is that public schools are sexually "grooming" students (exactly why they would do so remains a mystery). Here's Faux News host Laura Ingraham: “When did our public schools, any schools, become what are essentially grooming centers for gender identity radicals?”
Then there's the charge that school districts are indoctrinating students with critical race theory, a college-level academic study that examines the role of racism in modern society. Says one ninth-grade English teacher quoted by NBC News, “We don’t get it. This objection is being pushed upon us, and it’s not even happening in our classes."
Finally, we have the October frenzy over drag queen shows that, according to the fear-mongers on the right, are destroying the morals of children throughout America. This panic is based on the presumption that presentations with men dressed as women are "hyper-sexualized performances." They're not, but they can be useful to a child's development, as Canadian psychologist Ashleigh Yule observes.
From a developmental standpoint, kids have a very fluid understanding of gender. It’s really important to have healthy conversations that are developmentally appropriate about gender roles and gender expression being part of art.
By serving up ludicrous fairy tales to its followers, the GOP only demonstrates how totally willing it is to suffer fools gladly.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has defended her boyfriend after an old video of him dressed in drag went viral online.
The far-right Republican lawmaker from Georgia has slammed drag queens and says that it should be illegal for children to go to their shows.
But that has not stopped her from supporting Brian Glenn, who dressed up like a female while an anchor for WFAA TV in Dallas.
In the video, which has been watched more than 1.3m times, Glenn, who is wearing a blonde wig, gloves and a pink cardigan, compliments how the outfit feels.
“I’m kicking the shoes off. I may keep the pantyhose on. It does feel kind of good, actually,” he says in the video.
Greene, who is now dating the TV journalist following her divorce from Perry Greene after 27 years of marriage in September, reported the video on her Twitter account.
“I’m literally lol’ing. @brianglenntv dressed in drag for morning news in Dallas years ago reporting on an upcoming local theatre production and the morons over at Patriot Takes think this is an attack,” she tweeted. “Brian loves the throwback and is reposting. The left is so stupid.”
Tumblr media
Glenn also reposted the video poking fun at himself.
“The things I did for morning show television!! LOVED it and so did the @wfaa @WFAADaybreak viewers. It’s a good thing I have a sense of humor!”
Tumblr media
Greene has previously taken a much more hard-line view of drag.
“What’s the difference in children stuffing cash in a drag queen bra and a stripper’s bra? Nothing. It’s wrong and it’s indoctrination,” she tweeted on 15 June.
