The new studio Ghibli film will be coming to theaters starting 12/7 with an alternating schedule(depending on the theater) of subbed and dubbed screenings.
Watched the first episode of Dungeon Meshi!!!!!! SO GOOD! Netflix put it automatically on dubbed and I didn't feel like switching which only led me to get slapped in the face by the voice of Damien Haas as Laios and Sungwon Cho as Senshi???? Great choices but I didn't know they'd be doing it so it was whiplash hearing them.
Remember that time when people thought Aaravos was a woman and then he spoke and we were all like, "Damn what the—" 😳
So, this morning, I somehow remembered that in the Hindi dub version of tdp (yes i have watched it courtesy of my sis, I prefer the English one but here we are...) Viren says: "kaha ja rahi ho tum?" When he finally sees through the mirror and sees Aaravos and he leaves the room...
("Kaha" is where. "Ja" is to go. "Rahi ho" is just auxiliary to make it "is going" in present tense. And "tum" is you.)
And what is striking is that, that sentence... addresses Aaravos as female. Hindi is one of those languages where you have gendered words... so like "ja raha" for "is going(addressed to masculine)" and "ja rahi" for "is going(addressed to feminine)" and viren says "ja rahi" so now I'm like, well, Viren had the same doubt. Granted it is in a dubbed version, probably unintended by the creators but it's a neat fact I would like to point out.
