It’s important to be aware of eco-ableism not only to make this movement as inclusive as impossible, but also because climate change has a disproportionate impact on disabled people. We exist in a diverse society of different people with different abilities and needs, and banning ANYTHING whether plastic bags or straws or bottled water or anything else is NOT the answer.

There are people who RELY on things that might not be environmentally friendly. That doesn’t make those things or those people bad. Truthfully the greatest harmers to the environment is big corporations dumping toxins into the environment. Not the little things like normal individual contributions from day to day life, even if amassed together collectively.

So pretty please, stop thinking banning ANYTHING is going to do enough good to fix things? It’s just shifting the burdens you might not be aware of from one person to another, while leaving the true perpetrators of environmental catastrophe totally immune from consequences.

I had to turn anonymous asks off because people are starting to send me more aggressive messages (death wishes, telling me my art sucks, saying I should quit art, etc.) which is........ something I’ve never had to deal with before, but it is what it is :/

HOWEVER, in more positive news I calculated the final donation amount from the Club Q fundraiser last month, and with the last round of donations from ‘The World Has Been Changed’ sales sent out, the total amount raised is $320!!!!!

$88 of that was purely what I got in sales from the World artwork last month, so thank you all so much for helping and supporting this cause. 🙏 it means so much to me that I (and Kevin Ang!) were able to use art to give back in this way 💖

These are designs of characters I created for a series of animated shorts called "The Ecoptimists." The purpose of these shorts is to address eco-anxiety when combating climate catastrophe as well as becoming involved in climate action. It is imperative to know that when you get involved in activism for the planet, you may be going through certain feelings and emotions, both physically and mentally. These shorts are meant to help kids cope with these feelings in a healthy and constructive matter. I'm hoping to make this project a reality in the near future, as I don't believe the subject of eco-anxiety has been discussed enough in the environmental community.
