Just want to say Good luck to the classes of 2023 starting their GCSEs this Monday!!
It’s been a weird few years and no one seems to be talking about how covid still massively impacted your learning but you all persevered and before you know it it will all be over.
It’s a stressful time so please make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating and drinking enough water, you need to look after your brain 💙
If you need anyone to talk to/vent to I’m happy to listen and if you need any last minute support with maths or physics just ask :)

I don't even remember the last time I made an update here. Anyway, this weeks To Do's:
Get up early/stop sleeping in so long
Rate some books on my goodreads
Do some past papers on Math
Finish going over Biology
Drink more water
Another thing is I've been listening to a lot of playlists about June and Day because I just finished the Legend series by Marie Lu and it's my favourite series now (ship too)
My long-term To Do's (deadline is August:
draw some fanart of Hermitcraft members, events in the life smps, and Iparwing (possibly some other fandoms/ships too, but these are the main ones)
Have a good start on learning Japanese
Paint a big paining (I have these big canvases and I think that a cinematic scene from one of the HTTYD would look really well)

Ok so this might seem a bit weird but ive got like a month til my gcses and i have done shit all for revision, partially because i have the attention span of a moth 😭
but ive noticed i take in information pretty well when it’s handed out in a fun way (ikr who coulda guessed) and i rlly like shit like Bill Wurtz’s history of the world so i wanted to ask if anybody knows like a YT channel or revision site that does stuff like Bill Wurtz’s history of the world but more in depth and for like science and english :)

Doing GCSE art just means being constantly overwhelmed, drowning in work and feeling stupid compared to ur other friends who pick 'serious' things such as psychology and such

GCSE Maths: You can do it!!!
Tumblr media
We've worked hard for this exam. We deserve success. Let's show everyone what we can do!
A few things to remember:
Attempt every question, but make sure not to run over the allocated time for each one.
If you're still working during the last 15mins or so, prioritise the questions you are most likely to get right.
Remember that your brain needs time to warm up. I suggest starting from the beginning for this reason.
Stay calm and use logic if you get stuck. This is why it's so important to understand the reasoning behind the process.
Make it as easy as possible for you to stay focussed. Write lists of the steps you need to take if it helps.
Read the question and underline whatever you find useful.
If you genuinely have no idea what to do in a question, just do something. Simplify a surd. Annotate a diagram with anything you can work out. Expand or factorise. These usually get you a mark. That's one mark more than you would have got by skipping the question entirely.
Check for small things, like this symbol ± after square rooting a number, anything to do with indices or coefficients, anything to do with + and - and anything copied from the question or another line. If you mess up one of these, it can throw the whole question off. Little details make a difference.
Method marks are usually a thing. If it's too late to fix a mistake, just keep going. You can fix it later if you have time.
Leading on from that point, make sure it's easy for the examiner to follow your working. If they have no idea what you've done, then they can't award you method marks. Write little headings or draw arrows if it helps.
FOLLOW THE REGULATIONS OF THE EXAMINATION. Don't bring banned materials or try to cheat. No matter the pressure you face, just don't do it. Trust in your abilities. You know more than you think. If you get caught cheating, you will be disqualified and get 0. It could also affect other exams outside of maths which are organised by the same exam board. Don't take the risk. Just don't.
WE CAN DO THIS! Trust yourself and do your best <3

Study log 19/12/2022
Today was the first day I actually did any proper work because I was on a road trip and then I started my work experience yesterday so I didn’t manage to get much done today but I mean something is better than nothing right?
Today I went over the first chapter in my math textbook using the examples to solve a few questions. Then I made some notes on one of my literature poems using this video. And to end it all I did an Arabic worksheet set by my tutor as well as around an hour of Arabic immersion by talking to a friend of mine in Arabic just about whatever I was able to say. I’m definitely going to try to be more productive tomorrow but for now that’s all. Till next time <3

There is so much work that I still have to do but I did do a lot today! I'm very proud of myself for that rn 😌
After slowing on and missing some habits recently, I'm feeling good today after the breakdown when Pinterest deactivated my account and I've learnt that humans are truly simple creatures. More simple than you might think. After the bad morning from the heart attack I got from Pinterest I was happy for the rest of the day simply by wearing mismatched socks and mismatched earrings 🙃
The To Do until Tuesday:
Finish IT
Start the document for Technology (and talk to the teacher)
Practice the violin 🎻
Learn Japanese

"but there's no point in learning Irish is a dead lang-" sHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.
there IS a point. there IS a reason. Irish might be a dead language TO YOU but im gonna pull that motherfucker screaming and crying out of its "grave" by the ankles. if Irish is a dead language then i'm a necromancer (or necrophiliac depending on your outlook on life and opinions.)
there IS a point. im learning Irish because no one in my family, barr from like one of my cousins, and a few distant relatives even have their cúpla focail. (whether they were given the award or they gen only know a few words). my mum and dad barely know any irish. my dad wasnt even really ALLOWED to learn irish. (more it was geniunely discouraged by my granny bc 1970s/80s and early 90s northern ireland was not a fun place).
im learning irish because its my CULTURE. its MY language, ITS MINE, not to rip off my big man Ruairí Ó Báille (granted is leatsa í means its yours but who cares about details) back on topic, it connects me to MY history. everyone calls my granda the irish version of his name, we use anglisized irish words ALL THE TIME. even if you arent learning irish. its still alive in place names. (e.g Belfast, Béal Feirste, Derry, Doire)
irish isnt even dead. it still exists whether you want to acknowledge it or not, we wouldnt have so much protection thingymabobbers trying to preserve it if it was completely dead, yeah its on life support and a long way from getting off it but pROGRESS IS PROGRESS! theres more irish speakers now than a good few years ago
pLUS ITS ONLY GOT LIKE 11 IRREGULARS. ENGLISH HARDLY EVEN, IF EVEN HAS REGULAR VERBS. IT HAS SIMPLISH PRONOUNCIATION (if you actually sit down and learn the spelling/grammar rules. something i need to do more of bc i sound like a dying donkey speaking irish😋) aND ITS REALLY PRETTY OKAY? ITS GOT A COOL EMPHATIC FORM IN ENGLISH YOU JUST USE YOUR TONE TO PUT EMPHASIS ON STUFF.
plus plus. silver and gold fáinnes. what other language in the world has cool little badge pin thingies when you can speak a good enough level of it?
in conclusion; irish is based. Is maith liom bheith ag amharc dónal dána. Ceapaim go bhfuil asal thusa. focáil leat.(was previously 'téigh fuck tú féin, but thats not the best way to say it), Chuaigh mé ar scoil ar a naoi a chlog. Tá mo scoil iontach leadránach.
slán, sláinte, suck my dick you mouldy egg sandwich.

Doing well on exams is such a great feeling. Walking out of an exam room and actually feeling like you didn’t do that badly, actually is so affirming :)))
whether or not I actually did well or not is another question because seriously what the fuck are biology mark schemes?? but the feeling is there which is what counts :)
Our first maths paper is on Friday, so I’ll try to put up something in preparation for that. I believe in us! We’ve worked hard and we deserve this victory! 🙌
If you want to do any last minute revision, I suggest looking through the cut-down spec to make sure you understand everything. Then, explain anything you don’t to yourself or a friend. Doing practice questions is always a good idea, too: predicted papers based on the cut-down spec are a great way to go. Don’t forget to respond to what you got wrong. There’s no point if you don’t go away and do some additional practice on problem areas afterwards.
Let’s all do our best! I know we have the skill to do well :))))
