Why is Rodimus the only Matrix-bearer to revert back to his old self when he’s separated from the Matrix?
Dear Mystical Metamorphosis,
Well, it’s rare for the Matrix to induce a physical transformation in the first place—except as a side-effect of some kind of catalyzing factor. For example, when Galvatron’s servant Scourge bore the Matrix, it triggered an allergic reaction in his Unicronian biology, causing his alloys to swell and buckle. And when Starscream used the Creation Matrix to merge with Bludgeon’s Warworld, his body and mind both expanded into its systems. In either case, losing the Matrix reversed these effects. You’re right, however, that the changes experienced by Rodimus were unusual. Perhaps he had a particularly strong affinity with the Matrix. I can only speculate—Primus works in mysterious ways.
When referring to our Sparks or personality components, Rungian analysts at times refer to "the transformation that can be seen" (our physical transformations), as well as the lesser-known "the transformation that cannot be seen", an inner change that is perhaps like the "shadow" of your psyche. They would have it that the Matrix is capable of spurring both seen and unseen transformations, and that some bearers may only experience one or the other. These changes may take place on a cosmological timescale—only observable across many human lifetimes.
For Hot Rod, his youthful rule-breaking and fiery impulses were met with his shadow: the weight of responsibility and disillusionment that can accompany wisdom and age. As great as Rodimus Prime's physical power became, contending with his shadow was a still greater struggle—and even once parted from the Matrix, unlike the evolution of the body, the inner transformation was irreversible.

Ok, so I'm just thinking about Young Justice (cartoon) and how season two would have been improved if there hadn't been the time skip. There is a lot about the time skip that lost people but the emotional impact that certain things could have had was just gone.
I re-watched it recently and there was a scene in the first episode that would have been so impactful if it had happen several seasons in with knowledge of these characters. It happens between Nightwing and Robin when Nightwing is assigning missions.
Nightwing: Tim, you'll be running Gamma. Robin: Me? Dick, I've never led a squad before. Nightwing: Making this a good opportunity to get your feet wet as a field leader. Robin: Because it's Gamma and you're not expecting trouble, or because we're stretched thin and you have no choice? Nightwing looks away before sighing and turning back to face Robin. Nightwing: Just don't die, ok? Robin's eyes widen as he stiffens slightly. Nightwing: And no unnecessary risks to the squad. That's an order. Robin nods.
The reason that this would have been impactful emotionally speaking is because of the death of Jason Todd. If this had happened a few seasons in we could have met Jason Todd, the second Robin. In Young Justice no one was sure if he had been a character until a hologram of him was shown in the grotto of fallen heroes.
As is, it just seems like Nightwing has been a bit protective of Tim. There's no reason for this scene to stand out. But on a re-watch my only thought was 'Oh this would have been impactful if I had actually known Jason. If there had been a arc of Tim trying to prove that he could watch out for himself and he didn't need Dick protecting him. Just don't die would have been really impactful if the death of the second Robin was known.' Which um, isn't what you want a person thinking when watching your show. It shouldn't be here is this missed chance. It should have been that emotional gut punch.
And I feel like that is part of the problem that parts of season 2 had. It expects that audience to come in with some knowledge already. I know of Jason Todd from cultural osmosis but that isn't enough to make me care about him in the context of the show that I watched. Batman the Animated Series didn't have him so he can be left out of Batman related material. My jump from 'Just don't die' isn't going to be 'oh Jason Todd must of died in this universe' its Nightwing seems a bit protective of Robin but that's probably because Robin doesn't have that much experience crime fighting either in general or in a group. Maybe he's been reckless? Maybe he's like Nightwing was when he was younger and isn't good at letting the group know the plan? But it isn't the second Robin died.
The fact that Robin doesn't really have many parts focused on him after that makes it feel like that should be a conclusion to an arc. A point where he steps out from being one of the focus characters and makes room for Blue Beetle to take over as one of the focus characters.

dear vector prime, is there a version of evac from the idw1 continuity? was he a knight of cybertron like live action incarnation?
Dear Evac Evaluator,
No, the Evac of that universe was not a member of the Knights of Cybertron. In fact, he bore a great resemblance to the Evac that I came to know during my time searching for the Cyber Planet Keys alongside Optimus Prime and the Autobots, transforming into a blue and yellow rescue helicopter. He was one of the many who called for reforms and the end of Functionism alongside Megatron and his followers. However, he was disgusted when the planet erupted into war, and ultimately left Cybertron with many of his fellow Cybertronians, under the leadership of Metalhawk. Upon the war’s conclusion, he returned to Cybertron with his fellows, but was among the few who did not support Starscream as leader, as he remembered living as one of the Seeker’s constituents prior to the war. He survived the various crises which befell Cybertron, including the coming of Unicron, and came to settle down on Earth, where he ultimately partnered with the United States Coast Guard as part of a cultural exchange between the United States and Little Cybertron.
I do, however, know of another incarnation of Evac who served as a Cybertronian Knight. A young warrior from a technorganic Cybertron who possessed both helicopter and assault buggy modes, Evac's skill as a swordsman saw him recruited by Knight Commander Ginrai into his elite order of Cybertron's defenders. Noble, idealistic and selfless to a fault, Evac's personality clashed heavily with his fellow recruit, the grim and pragmatic Crosswise… which is why everyone was confused when Alpha Trizer advised that they be partnered together on an ongoing basis. However, the sage's wisdom proved itself as Evac and Crosswise came to appreciate each others' philosophies as complimentary, not opposed; these days, the duo are known as some of the finest combatants in the galaxy, Crosswise's sonic disruptors and Evac's rotor-blade working in concert to bring evildoers everywhere to justice.

if i had a nickel for everytime i couldn't get into a series/franchise only because i thought the artstyle is ugly as shit i'd have at least like 10 nickels. which i guess is a lot
#//read this in doofenschmirtz voice#ramble#it's honestly frustrating#like so often i REALLY wanna be able to get into something but my brain just rejects the artstyle and goes 'no'#warning rant incoming#i might be able to blame part of it on the cartoons i watched as a kid#bc my mom was lowkey obsessed with not letting me watch what she called 'brzydactwa' ('ugly stuff')#which was anything that either 1) had a purposefully ugly artstyle 2) was heavily aimed at boys#so that included ed edd &eddy; codename kids next door; dexter; powerpuff girls; most of the late-2000's shit#i pretty much only watched teen titans (the og) and ben 10 (also the og)#later on i also sometimes watched flapjack but only bc my dad liked it and fought for my right to watch it#also later later on i watched gumball and the garfield show but that was like. as an older kid#(i watched johnny test in secret and SOMEHOW liked it tf)#i also loved tom&jerry but that was on thin fucking ice cuz mom thought it was 'too violent'#so yeah i generally just. only watched the pleasing-to-the-eye cartoons and was told that everything else was nasty#so now when i see a purposefully ugly artstyle my brain just goes 'ick. bad' and i can't bring myself to like it#this includes uhhh#(using censor so it doesn't show up in tags and fans don't come at me)#g*rillaz#b*gsnax#dr*gon ball z#j*jo#lowkey c*phead#uhh there's def more that i can't remember atm#it's just god. a lot of them i HEAR are good. i KNOW they're good. i have friends who love them. and i'd love to be able to get info it too#but i just can't get past the artstyles
