I read the sixth Harry Potter book in Edinburgh, including in the Elephant House café, where J.K. Rowling wrote much of the first two books, and I carried it with me up Arthur’s Seat, where the wind caught at my hair and the sun came out just long enough. I finished it after watching the sun rise from within Stonehenge, just after my train pulled into London from Salisbury.

“he killed enough people to make an army of them, of course”—it does not get stated enough that Voldemort once had a zombie army

Luna’s “It was like having friends”—Neville learned “loads” from Harry—it gave them all what they needed, including the Trio

Harry’s love potion smells like treacle tart, broomsticks, and something he smelled at the Burrow (just want to say in support of headcanon bi-Harry that in addition to Ginny, these could all also smell like Bill Weasley)

Harry’s only correspondent is dead and Lupin isn’t writing back 😭

good friends don’t laugh at each other when they know it’s important—Ron at the Malfoy thing, Harry at Ron strutting for Lavender

I sometimes forget that I was on Hermione’s side with the trying out spells from the potions book thing mainly because Harry was trying out the spells on random people in the hallways and dormitory

I love GinnyxHarry so much, from Harry getting hit by bludgers watching her play to him calling her the “life and soul of the team” to her absolute fierceness to their excellent first kiss

Hermione being rightly insulted that Harry doesn’t think the Half-Blood Prince could be a girl

Can “aguamenti” only work into a bowl? Could Harry not have used that spell straight into Dumbledore’s mouth?

Malfoy as smarter than people give him credit for, failed on purpose, as afraid, as secretly wanting Dumbledore’s approval, his voice trembling when he hears that someone has died

Dumbledore being awesome: “You care about me saying ‘mudblood’ when I’m about to kill you.” “Yes, I do.”

we don’t talk enough about the fact that Fenrir Greyback eats children when he’s not in the form of a wolf

never forget that Snape could have just left but takes a second to turn around and make Harry feel awful and light Hagrid’s hut on fire

Harry could have taken the Felix with him but he gave it to Ginny, Luna, Neville, Ron, and Hermione, and it saved all of their lives

love, love, love that the way that all of the professors argue about the school staying open vs. closing is in line with their Houses—Sprout says “if a single pupil wants to come, then the school ought to remain open for that pupil”—McGonagall worried about the stain on history and the failure—Slughorn says that parents will want to protect their own

Harry’s greatest weapon is love, but more so, empathy—he can understand Riddle, and Malfoy, and that’s valuable both for being a good person but also strategically

hermione would 100% keep her name and not have kids or if she must not till she's 40ish and well established in her career

they're wizards ppl they can live till like 200 whys everyone settling down at like 20

i don't like ginnyxharry (not just cuz of drarry) i just think it's creepy she's been "in love" with him since she was little, it's a lil too hero worship-y for me
