JJ walks into work on Monday morning with a slight smile on her face. She had just spent the weekend with you in Milan. You whisked her away for a romantic but expensive weekend in one of the places she’s always wanted to visit. You spoiled her with whatever she wanted, even showered her with gifts she couldn’t possibly accept under normal circumstances. You have all this money you want to spend on someone, and now you do.
She just feels so bad because she doesn’t make nearly as much as you do, so she can’t give you the same treatment. She’s brought up the money concerns even though you’ve dismissed them. You truly don’t care if she has money to spend on you or not. You do, and you love spending money on those you love.
It’s just hard on her because you’re giving her so much luxury and she can’t do the same for you.
Emily and Penelope are in the break room talking about their weekends when they notice JJ walk past them. Yes, she has a smile on her face but it’s not reaching her ears. They know she spent the weekend with you, so they’re not sure why she doesn’t look truly happy. Without a word, both of them follow her to her office.
“Hey, are you okay?” Emily asks.
“Yeah, fine. Why?”
“Babe, we can sense something isn’t right. Did something happen between you and Y/N?”
“No, the weekend was perfect, actually,” JJ sighs and sits down.
“Then, what’s bothering you?”
“We all know how much money she has. She’s given me so much, and she spoils me even if I tell her not to spend money on me. I mean, she has it. She might as well spend it on everything she can. I don’t make as much money as her, and I don’t want it coming across as me taking advantage of her.”
“Do you love her?”
“I don’t know, honestly,” JJ blushes. “It could be if given some more time. We’ve only been seeing each other for a few months.”
“If Y/N likes you for you, then money shouldn’t be an issue.”
“Yeah,” JJ nods.
“She’s been taking you on all these expensive dates, right?” Penelope asks. “Why don’t you take her on a date? Maybe it’s more mellow and more your style. Show her that you two can still have fun without all that luxury.”
“The Redskins are playing in the Superbowl. I’ve always wanted to go to the game. Maybe I can bring her.”
“Yeah! Like I said, if she likes you for you, she’ll love going to the game. We gotta go but let us know how it goes.”
Once Emily and Penelope are gone, JJ takes out her phone to call you. She has a lot of work to do today but will do it after she’s talked to you.
“Hey, I was just thinking of you,” you answer with a grin. “We spent a whole weekend together and I already miss you.”
“Yeah, I kind of wish we were back on the beach.”
“We could think weekend if you want. I hear Bora Bora has beaches to die for at this time of year.”
“Maybe we can do that, sure. I called because I wanted to know if you wanted to go on a date this weekend with me. The Superbowl is this weekend, and I’ve always wanted to go. I think it could be fun.”
JJ bites her lower lip nervously as she waits for your answer.
“I think that sounds amazing. What time?”
“Two-thirty on Friday. I can pick you up this time.”
“I look forward to it. I have to go now. Have fun at work.”
“I’ll talk to you later,” JJ smiles and hangs up.
If you’re going to go to a football game, then you need to dress the part. All you’ve ever worn are fancy and elegant clothes because you’re expected to dress a certain way. Being a CEO comes with downfalls, so you have to go to the store to buy more casual clothing for the football game. You don’t think you can get away with wearing heels, a fancy dress, and a designer-brand bag at a football game.
Once you got a whole wardrobe full of a new style of clothing, you got dressed in jeans, converse sneakers, and a red and gold shirt to represent the Redskins’ colors. You’ve been looking forward to this date all week because you want to get to know JJ in an environment that’s more her style. Sure, you can take her all around the world and shower her with gifts and luxury, but she won’t fully be herself unless she is in her world.
Two hours before the game starts, JJ shows up at your house to pick you up. Where you have town cars and expensive cars, she has her SUV which is a bit older than the newer models that are on the lot. You get into the car and greet JJ with a loving kiss.
“Hi. I’ve been thinking of you all week. I’m really excited about this game.”
“Have you ever been to a football game?” she asks and starts to drive off.
“Never, but I’m glad my first is with you.”
You know nothing about sports. The only reason you’re going is for JJ because this is what makes her happy. You want nothing more than to see her happy, and you’ll do anything to keep that smile on her face. Once you get there, you quickly find your seats which are in the lower bowl of the stadium.
The frigid February weather bites at your skin but you welcome the cold. It gives you a chance to snuggle close to JJ.
“So, who’s playing?”
“Redksins vs Green Bay. I’ve been a major Redskins fan since I was little. My dad and I would try to make it every game they did.”
“That sounds awesome.”
“Yeah, it was. I haven’t been to a game in a long time, so I’m really happy we’re doing this together.”
You reach over and grab her hand, intertwining your fingers together.
“Me too. Thank you for inviting me.”
“I know this isn’t luxury or expensive dinners, but--”
“No, this is amazing. I’m really glad I’m here with you. As long as you’re happy and we’re together, I don’t care what we do,” you kiss the back of her hand.
There’s that beautiful blush on JJ. The color compliments her skin. As soon as the game starts, something changes in JJ. She becomes more animated as she cheers for her team when they score and growls in frustration when they lose. You’re not sure when you cheer, so you follow her lead. One of the members of her team runs toward the endzone when someone from the opposite team tackles him to the ground.
Someone a few rows down from you stands up and yells at how stupid that play was, and JJ is caught off guard by the outburst. She covers her mouth and giggles but you hear it.
“Your laugh is adorable,” you smile at her.
“You are adorable,” she smiles. “I hope you’re not too bored.”
You let go of her hand to wrap an arm around her back. You rub her shoulder sensually and cock your head to the left.
“I am happy wherever you are. I’m starving.”
“They have food up top.”
“You mean I get to try stadium hot dogs and beer? Sign me up,” you chuckle. “Do you want one?”
“I’ll go with you.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah.”
You two head to the concession stands where you get two beers and four hotdogs. This is so much different than the elegant restaurants you’re so used to going to, but you love the change of scenery. This is something you’ll have to get used to if you want to continue dating JJ. You can’t expect her to adapt to your lifestyle. That's not how a relationship works.
During a small break, you look over at JJ to see some mustard on the corner of her mouth. You reach other and wipe it with your thumb only to put that same thumb into your mouth to lick off the condiment.
“You got something there.”
“Is it all gone?” she asks after she swallows.
“No. Here, let me.” You grab her chin with your index finger and thumb and pull her into you. You kiss her without caring who is watching you two. “Thank you for bringing me here.”
Whatever thoughts and worries she had about you and your money are gone because she really likes you and hopes this lasts for a long time.
“Thank you for coming with me,” she grins.

Summary: You start worrying over your wedding and your friends remind you of why you’re being dumb and of how far you and Bucky have come.

“Will you please quit pacing!? It’s your wedding day for christ’s sake! What are you so nervous about?” Wanda exclaimed sharply at you.
You turned to stare at her, “Everything! What if Steve loses the rings? What if I trip? What if Bucky bails? What if I forget my vows? What if-”
“STOP!” This time Nat interrupted with an incredulous look. “Y/N, first of all, everything will be fine, everything is already taken care of. Second, Bucky would never bail. He’s been in love with you and ready for this since the moment he saw you for the first time.”
The team and a few agents filed into the meeting room. Natasha, Tony, and Clint walked over to you talking about how good you looked and how long it had been since you’d last seen each other. You had been assigned to the London branch two years ago and had just been transferred back to New York to work with the Avengers.
A lot had changed since you left.
Everyone looked at the hologram showing the base you’d be infiltrating. On the opposite side of the room however, stood Bucky Barnes, who’d joined the team a little after you’d left. He stared wide eyed, mouth gaping at you from across the room. You saw his eyes wander up and down your body and you felt yourself bite your lip and do the same.
Even though the only light was coming from the hologram in front of you, you could see him blush when your eyes met. You held back a giggle, smirked, and winked.
You felt his eyes on you through the whole meeting. To say the least, it was very distracting.
The corners of your mouth twitched upward at the memory. “Hell, he even got shot for you that day! You hadn’t even officially met until then!”
You struggled with the Hydra agent. She evaded every kick, punch, and attempt to take her down.
Through the fight, you failed to notice the other agent aiming his gun at you, waiting for a clear shot. Until, you heard the two gunshots followed by a loud groan of pain. It was so sudden that the woman you were fighting looked away just long enough for you to knock her out. “That should keep her down for a while.” You muttered to yourself before turning towards the groans. You gasped when you say Bucky on the ground. You cursed and ran to where he had collapsed. “Shit shit shit fuck. Woah, hey, stay with me, I’m gonna get us out of here.”
His eyes were fluttering open to look up at you. When he tried moving he hissed and clutched his side.
You looked down towards his hand and saw his red with blood. “Wow, you’re beautiful. Hi, I’m Bucky.” You gave him a ‘are you serious?’ look.
“You are literally bleeding out right now. It’s really not the time.”
“Eh, I’ll be fine.” He opened his mouth to continue but you got up and tried to get him up too.
“Not if i leave you here. God, you’re heavy. C’mon you need to help me out here.” Finally, you were able to get him up and have him lean against you. “Guys, Bucky’s shot, I’m taking him back to the jet.”
You felt his eyes looking up at you as you made your way to the jet.
Laying him down as gently as possible, you pulled his gear and clothes off to see the damage, leaving him in his pants. “How did you manage to get shot anyway?” You gave him the strongest pain meds you had at hand and tried to patch him up best you could.
“He was going to shoot you. I tried to stop him. I went in front of him right when he took the shot. I had fired my gun already but I wasn’t quick enough. I couldn’t let them hurt you.” You stopped everything and stared into his eyes. He had gotten shot… for you. You didn’t know what to say. Without thinking, you leaned down to give him a lingering kiss.
“You haven’t told me your name.” He said softly when you’d parted.
“It’s Y/N.” You replied in a whisper.
“Remember how nervous he was when he finally asked you out? He wouldn’t stop asking us for advice on how to do it and then followed none of it.” Wanda added.
It was another Sunday morning at the compound. Nothing weird or off about it. You sat comfortably on a stool by the kitchen island in your PJ’s, eating cereal and scrolling through your phone.
Bucky walked in, rubbing his eyes and yawning, not noticing you watching him move about. He filled his favorite mug with coffee and took a muffin from a tray set out. With a sigh, he sipped his coffee and pulled out a chair across from you. He put his mug down and looked up. A tiny scream escaped his lips when he saw you and you couldn’t contain your laughs. “Y/N. Hey, um, good morning. I, uh, didn’t see you there.”
All through breakfast, you watched him silently twitch and shift uncomfortably. You finished your cereal, washed your plate, then left the kitchen. Maybe you’d go out and get a dress for that gala thing Tony was making everyone go to. ‘A red one’, you thought, ‘maybe Bucky will pick up on the hints and-’
Bucky’s voice called out your name behind you, bringing you out of your thoughts.
When you turned, Bucky caught up to you looking like he regretted it. His flesh hand came up to scratch his neck nervously. He opened and closed his mouth, searching his mouth for what to say. “Um, so, uh, You know th-that gala thing Tony w-want us to go to?” You nodded and he swallowed, taking a deep breath.
“Iwaswonderingifyou’dwanttogowithme.” He said all in one breath. You laughed lightly.
“What? Can you say that again please Bucky? A little slower this time?”
He took a deep breath, “I was wondering. I-if you would l-like to go to that gala. W-with me. Like a date. Y-ya know, t-together.” His eyes met yours and a broad smile spread over your lips.
You stepped forward to him and pulled him in for a deep kiss. After a moment he kissed you back and pulled you against him. “So is that a yes…?” He said against your lips. You pulled back and giggled.
“Yeah, Buck. It’s a yes.” He beamed (to put it lightly) and leaned in to kiss you again.
“Don’t forget when he told you he loved you. On your fourth date.”
You and Bucky walked down the street from the ice cream place. Your dress shone under the street lights. You licked and bit your ice cream cone until there was nothing left. You turned to Bucky, laughing at what what he was saying. “Hold on, you got ice cream on your chin.” He said. Instead of wiping it off with his thumb or a napkin, he opted for kissing you clean. You giggled as he kissed and licked your chin, then trailing along your jaw. Your face was scrunched up happily when he came up again.
“You are so cute. Ugh, I love you.” His voice was barely above a whisper but he knew you had heard it. His eyes widened and he winced slightly. “You, um, you don’t need to say it back. Uh, I know it hasn’t been long but, I meant it. I love you Y/N.”
You stood pleasantly shocked. You kissed him softly before saying, “I know. I love you too.” Of all the things he could have expected you to say, ‘I love you too’ was not one of them. Not that he had any objections.
“And his proposal.” Wanda laughed, “He planned that for weeks!”
“Where are we going? Bucky come on!” You whined.
“You’ll see. We’re almost there. Stop pouting.” He pecked your lips quickly, making you smile. “That’s my girl.”
“You better not be taking me out to the middle of fucking nowhere to kill me, James Barnes.” He rolled his eyes with a chuckle.
“Whoops, you caught me! I’m taking you, my girlfriend who I love more than anything, into the woods to kill you. When I know we both have trackers and everyone knows we left the compound together.” The sarcasm was practically dripping from his words. A moment of silence was followed by a fit of laughter from both of you. “Ok, we’re here.” He took your blindfold (that has more than one use when it comes to you two) off and you gasped at the sight in front of you. You were literally in the middle of nowhere. Trees were in every direction, but just ahead was a clearing, the sun lit up the small circle. A plaid blanket was spread out in the center, with a cute picnic basket on it and some pillows.
“Bucky! This is incredible! When did you have time to set this up? Or find this place?”
“Nat and Steve just left, they texted me that everything was ready like two minutes ago. And remember when Tony gave Sams wings an upgrade and Sam went flying for like two hours? Yeah he stopped to rest or something and he found this. Hey, lets eat, i know you’re starving.” As if on queue, your stomach growled loudly.
“Yeah that’s probably a good idea. So what’d you bring?” You said as you sat down and fixed your sundress.
“Well,” Bucky started, “Two days ago you said you would kill for a burger and fries. Sooo…” He opened the basket to reveal bags of Mcdonalds, “I had Steve and Nat pick some up for us.” You practically lunged at him. He landed on his back and you laughed gleefully. Ugh, you loved him so much. You peppered him with little kisses and thanked him repeatedly.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you, I love you, I love you!!! You. Are. The. Greatest.” He chuckled at your excitement. You got off of him and started stuffing your face, moaning at the first bite.
By the time you were full, you found yourself laying down on the blanket, your head in Buckys lap as he read softly to you. He stopped at the end of a chapter. “Doll, would you mind getting my phone for me? I think it’s somewhere over there.”
“Mhm. Gimme a kiss first.” You demanded. He let out an exaggerated sigh as if it was a chore. With a grin on his face, he leaned down to give you a chaste kiss on the lips. You hummed contently and jumped up. You took a few steps over to his phone, picking it up. “Why’d it end up over here.” Little did you know he’d done that on purpose.
When you turned and stepped towards him, you raised your head to look at him. Your jaw dropped to the floor and a loud gasp escaped you. You dropped Bucky’s phone and threw your hands over your mouth when you saw him on one knee in front of you.
“Y/N. The moment is saw you, I swear I was a goner. I’ve loved you since the beginning. Before you, if someone had asked me if love at first sight was real, I would have said ‘hell no’. But here we are. But I never thought that you’d love me too. When you told me you loved me, I think my heart stopped and started up again. And everytime you say it or kiss me, I feel like the luckiest bastard alive. There’s only one thing that would make that 100% true though. So, will you make me the happiest, luckiest, man in the universe, and marry me?”
He opened the small box in his hands and you nodded hysterically, tears streaming down your face. “Yes, yes, yes! Of course!” Your hand shook uncontrollably as he took it and slid the ring onto your finger. A perfect fit. Nothing could possibly ruin your happiness or wipe the smile off your face. Bucky wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in tight for a hug. Your arms snaked around his neck, and you admired the beautiful ring on your finger.
You were both laughing softly as you moved to kiss. Out from behind the trees came everyone. The whole team was there congratulating you. Peter and MJ stood a bit behind, cameras in hand capturing every perfect moment.
That same happy smile was back on your face from just thinking about that day. Tears of joy pooled in your eyes knowing that in less than an hour, you’d at long last be Mrs. Y/N Barnes. You blinked them away quickly so as to not mess up your makeup.
“There’s that smile.” Said Nat softly. A knock from the door made the six heads in the room turn.
“I’ll see who it is.” Hope said. You watched as she opened the door slightly and immediately said, ‘NOPE. Bad luck.” before closing it again.
“C’mon! Please Hope! I have a blindfold and I can walk in backwards! I just really gotta talk to her. Just five minutes, I promise!” Came Bucky’s voice. She looked at you with a question in her eyes. You grabbed a piece of scarf and wrapped it around your head.
“Let him in. Wait outside, all of you. And no eavesdropping!” You listened as Nat, Wanda, Hope, Valkyrie, and Morgan left the room. Your back faced the door just in case of anything. Someone guided him to you and you laced your fingers with his as you stood back to back.
“Hey.”
“Hey. What are you doing here, you know it’s bad luck.”
“I know, I know. I just had to talk to you before the ceremony. Can you believe it’s finally time?!” His voice was electric with excitement, then turned calm and soft again, “I wanted to make sure you weren’t freaking out or worrying about everything.” He knew you so well.
“I was.” You laughed. “Then the girls made me think about how far we’ve come. Our good moments together.”
“Yeah. Can you believe it’s been two years already?”
“To be honest, no. Ya know what they say: ‘Time flies when you’re having fun’. So is everything ready? Nothing’s gone wrong or anything right?” Your voice went higher towards the end of your sentence.
“No. Nothing’s wrong. Please stop worrying. I just went to check on everything and it all looks wonderful. The flowers are all where they need to be, decorations are in place, the cake is great, everything is great. Just half and hour and you’ll be my wife.”
You squealed happily. “I know! If only time could go by faster! I can’t wait another second to officially be Mrs.Barnes!”
“Me neither. I can’t wait to see you. In your dress… And without it t-” The doors burst open before Bucky could get another word in.
“Ok. That’s it. Let’s go. Get outta here.” You gave Bucky’s hand one last squeeze before the girls dragged him out.
*
You adjusted your dress, took a deep breath, and took your father’s arm. The doors in front of you opened one more time and you walked through them slowly. You lifted your head and as soon as your eyes settled on Bucky, whose back was facing you, everything stopped. You saw as his shoulders rose and fell before he turned and saw you.
You tuned out the gasps, the music, the whispers, and all the people. All you could see, was him. You saw him take a sharp breath when he saw you. Even from where you were, you saw the tears welling in his eyes. He didn’t even try hiding them or blinking them away.  This only spurred on yours and made them stream freely down your cheeks. Thank god your makeup was waterproof.
Then, you were standing in front of Bucky, both of you beaming. You scarcely heard what the officiant was saying, and only registered when Bucky was asked to recite his vows.
“Wow. What to say? Growing up in the 40’s, I had an idea of what my life would be like. Before the war, my dream was to eventually settle down with a nice, calm girl and maybe have some kids. When the war broke out, I was sure that I’d die out there. For so long, I’d hoped that I would. Then, after everything that happened to me, I never thought I could have that. At best, my dream became to live out my days making up for everything I’ve done and all the time I’ve lost. But then I met you. You: the most beautiful, sassy, adventurous, insanely smart, fiery, spontaneous, strong, fun, cheeky, and confident woman who I’ve ever met. The one I fell in love with. Since then, I know that my dream wouldn’t be complete without you in it. I’m so happy that you chose me, and that my dream is becoming a reality. So I promise to be the best man I can be, to love you forever, and to be your partner in everything. I love you. Let’s do this.”
His words were almost whispers as he finished. Your hand reached up to wipe away the tears that had fallen.
“Bucky. I can’t possibly top that.” Laughter filled the space around you in a reminder that it wasn’t just you and him.
“All i can say, is that you have changed my life. Without you, I don’t know where I would be right now. You have saved me; literally and figuratively. I feel at home when I’m with you, because I am. I’ve been happier these past two years with you that I ever had been. You complete me. You’re my other half I never thought I’d find. You are quite possibly my favorite person. Actually, you totally are, without question. I’m so glad I met you. And so excited to start this new chapter by your side. I vow to take care of you, and be there for you even if, and most especially when that means getting into trouble together. I can’t wait to love you for the rest of my life. So yeah… Let’s do this.”
The rest of the ceremony blurs together with the stormy blue of Bucky’s eyes. You snapped back to reality when you heard: “I now pronounce you husband and wife… You may now kiss the bride.” And oh he definitely did. Very, very thoroughly.
You broke apart grinning ear-to-ear as the cheers and whoops electrified the air around you. Your forehead was on his and you looked into each others eyes. “Hello Mrs. Barnes. Have I ever mentioned I love you?”
“I think you might have once or twice, Mr. Barnes. You should probably spend the rest of your life reminding me though. Just to make sure.”

Chris felt relaxed and at ease being back home in Boston. He loved his job, he wouldn’t trade it if he had the chance but it was still good to be home where he was just Chris. Where he was just an annoying brother, a loving son and loyal best friend.
Your best friend. You and Chris had known each other most of your lives. The first time you’d met Chris he had been busy messing with his unsuspecting little brother. Chris had been seven years old at the time while you were only five and the same age as his brother who you knew from school. You had also known Chris was Scott’s older brother but that hadn’t stopped your acute sense of justice from walking straight across the playground and hitting Chris over the back of the head before he could push his poor blindfolded little brother backward down the slide. Chris hadn’t been hurt but had jumped in surprise, turning around to see a messy-haired little girl with her arms crossed and a pout on her face.
Chris smiled at the memory as he walked his excited dog towards your house. From that day the three of you had been inseparable. Chris adored you even if your presence makes his favorite activity of messing with his brother a lot harder. Even worse as you grew older you started in on the mischief, ganging up with Scott against him.
To this day it hadn’t changed all that much even if you were now a single mom to a five-year-old little girl. Your pregnancy had been an accident and the asshole boyfriend you had been with at the time had run for the hills. You, however, had chosen to carry through with your pregnancy and Chris had done everything he could to support you.
He wasn’t able to visit every day because of his job, but whenever he was home he spent as much time with you as he could. You wouldn’t take his money, so instead, he had to be creative, gifting you things he knew you needed. As much as you always scolded him for his generosity he also knew you appreciated it. A huge gift to you didn’t mean all that much to Chris. His job did come with benefits even if it also robbed him of other things, such as privacy and time with his loved ones.
None of those things was something he was willing to think about today though. Today he was just excited to see you and Josephine again.
“Hello?” Chris knocked on the door before pushing it open. He had a key and he knew you were fine with him coming and going as he pleased when he was home, just like he was with you doing the same in his house. Still, he didn’t want to scare you so he liked to make his presence known before he released the excited puppy from his leash.
Dodger made a beeline for the living room and Chris smiled as he heard you and Josephine start laughing as the dog attacked you both with kisses.
“Chris… Help,” you laughed lying on your back on the floor with Josephine hiding under your arm and Dodger on top of you. He kept jumping around to give you both as many kisses as possible as you both laughed as you tried to avoid a tongue in mouth situation.
“That’s a good boy,” Chris praised laughingly. He sent you a wink as you shoot him a glare, struggling to calm down the dog. Meanwhile, Josephine had managed to escape and ran straight into Chris' arms as he squatted down ready for the collision.
“Chris!!” she cheered, throwing her arms around his neck. Chris laughed standing up with the little girl in his arms, hugging her close.
“I missed you, Josie,” Chris admitted, making the little girl cling even harder to him.
“I missed you too,” she whispered with her face buried against his neck.
“I still need help,” you whined still squirming beneath the excited puppy making Chris and Josephine both laugh again.
“Dodger! That tickles. Stop it,” you laughed trying to catch your breath.
“What do you say? Should we go save mommy?” Chris asked, putting the little girl down when she nodded.
“Dodger come,” she called, and Dodger instantly stopped his assault looking over his shoulder towards the little girl. “We’re doing a runway show. You need to be dressed up too,” she explained and the unknowing dog happily followed her with his tail wagging in excitement.
“Oh no.” Chris laughed, as they both disappeared, “poor Dodger.”
“Poor Dodger? Poor me!” you objected drying your face with your sleeve, before reaching up to a hand for Chris to pull you back onto your feet. As soon as he did you wrapped your arms around his neck and Chris closed his eyes as he embraced you.
“Miss me too?” you teased, looking up at him and Chris' heart skipped a beat when he reopened his eyes to see yours shining up at him. He was in love with you, it just hadn’t ever seemed like the right time to let you know that. Or maybe it was just Chris being a complete and utter coward, afraid that he would lose your friendship if he let go of that secret.
“Every day,” he admitted and your face split into a huge smile as he stood on your toes kissing his cheek before hugging him again.
“Me too.”
“Mom are you ready?” Josephine’s voice sounded from the other room and you broke the hug, taking Chris’ hand.
“Two seconds darlin’” you yelled back as you lead Chris to the couch, tugging him to sit with you.
“She was doing a fashion show when your vicious dog attacked us,” you teased and Chris playfully rolled his eyes, smirking down at you.
“Oh yeah, he is so dangerous. He might slobber someone to death one day,” Chris teased, making you giggle.
“Well, he came close today. His tongue went up my nose,” you whined and pouted when Chris threw his head back against the sofa, clutching his chest as he laughed at you.
“That’s not funny Evans,” you scolded, but couldn’t help but smile. His laugh was contagious and you loved having him back in your home. You only wished it was for good rather than a visit. If only Chris knew just how deeply you cared for him. He didn’t and you didn’t want to push him away, by admitting to the girl crush that had never gone away.
Instead, you tore your eyes from him and towards your daughter’s room calling out for her, “We’re ready when you are honey!”
You couldn’t help but giggle when Part of Your World started playing. Josie adored Chris. She had from the moment she was born and his love of Disney had most certainly rubbed off on her.
“That’s my girl,” Chris mumbled as he kept his eyes on the door, not noticing the smile on your face widen. You loved Chris but more than that you loved that he was in your daughter’s life. She didn’t have a father, but in a way she still did and even if Chris wasn’t biologically related to her, Josephine still had a better dad than most little girl’s in your eyes. It had been his choice to be in Josephine’s life as much as he had been and you adored him all the more for it. You weren’t sure he knew just how much easier and better he had made your life these past six years. It wasn’t about his gifts that he kept sneaking into your house. You appreciated the new bed for your kid, the upgrades to your kitchen, school things and everything else he had gotten you without you asking, but it was his company that made all the difference. It was him being here on everyday afternoons like today. It was him picking up your kid when she fell and him holding you when life got hard. It was the calls and facetiming both you and your daughter when he was on set. It was laughing with you and making your daughter’s life an adventure every time he came around.
You were broken from your thoughts as Dodger came rushing through the room wearing one of Josephine’s dresses, skipping right into Chris’ arms with a miserable look on his face.
“Aww Bubba,” Chris laughed along with you, rubbing the dog’s face in his hands. “What did she do to you?”
“You’re such a good patient boy aren’t you?” you praised, petting Dodger sitting in Chris’ lap. “I’m gonna cook you a special dinner tonight for that,” you promised, making Chris laugh.
“Do I get a special dinner to if I wear one of your dresses?” he asked with a wink, making you roll your eyes at him.
“No. Cause you would do it voluntarily and most likely ruin it in the process. Which would mean you are cooking me dinner then,” you grinned.
“Mooom. Chriiis,” your daughter’s head poked out of her door. “Pay attention to me.”
“Sorry sweetheart,” you and Chris spoke in unison, both giggling as you realized but never taking your eyes off the door, where Josephine quickly appeared.
She strutted through the door across the room, spinning around in front of you before crossing her arms across her chest, grinning cheekily up at you both and Chris’ heart skipped a beat.
He loved that little girl so much and at that moment he saw five-year-old you clear as day in her and that certainly didn’t make his love for her lesson.
“What do you think?” she asked with hair sticking out everywhere, from the colorful elastic bands she had put in it. Different color eyeshadow, and lipstick smeared across her lips, which she had most likely stolen from her room and Chris chuckled as he realized Dodger had actually been quite lucky he had escaped with only a dress.
“I think you look absolutely beautiful,” you said, grinning when Dodger changed laps giving you a miserable look. You decided to take pity on the poor pooch and started freeing him of his dress as Chris lifted Josephine onto his lap.
“You look like a Disney princess. Absolutely stunning,” Chris praised, making the little girl’s face split into a huge proud smile. His opinion on everything she did meant the world to her. “Is that my shirt?” he asked with a grin tugging the button up Josephine was using as a dress, helped by one of your belts.
“Dunno,” she answered with a shrug. “It was in mom’s closet.”
“Was it now?” Chris teased looking over at you, but his heart skipped a beat when he saw the blush in your cheeks as you refused to look at him. Chris wasn’t sure what this meant but he knew your next words was a lie and a small hope ignited in his chest.
“You must have left it over here at some point,” you shrugged, letting Dodger, now dress free jump from your lap. “Josie go get Dodger a handful of treats. He has been a good boy and you can have a cookie too while you are in the kitchen,” you ordered your daughter who happily nodded, jumping off Chris lap before calling the dog’s name and he trotted after her a little apprehensive this time.
“I didn’t leave it here,” Chris said carefully before you could say anything else but after Josephine was out of earshot.
“Chris…” you started, but he interrupted you.
“I know that because I wore it the day before I left. I put it in the wash at my place,” Chris pressed and you sighed.
“You’re not letting this go are you?” you asked, fighting your tears and still not looking at him.
“Do you want me to drop it?” Chris asked, tenderly reaching out tugging your hair behind your ear so he could see your face. “I’m not mad Y/N/N. Just curious why you took it?”
“Because I missed you,” you blurted it. “It smells like you and wearing your clothes sometimes makes me feel as if…” You managed to stop yourself in time biting your lip, still not looking over at the man next to you.
Chris however, had grown bolder, gently caressing your cheek before cupping your chin between two fingers guiding you to look at him. The softness and adoration in his blue eyes completely took your breath away.
“As if what?” Chris' voice was barely above a whisper now as he struggled with himself not to just lean in and kiss you. He couldn’t. He needed to be sure. You and Josie were too important to him to mess this up.
“As if we are really a family,” you looked down. “As if you were my boyfriend.” Finally saying that out loud scared the shit out of you but it also felt as if a weight had been lifted your heart. All your life there was nothing you hadn’t told Chris. Nothing except for the way you had really come to feel about him.
“I love you,” Chris blurted out not knowing what else to say and no longer able to keep those words in.
“What?” you looked up at him. Completely baffled. Off all the things you had thought he might say that hadn’t been it.
“I love you,” Chris repeated. Slower and more confident this time.
“And I would love nothing more than for us to be a real family. For you to be my girlfriend,” Chris spoke as he tenderly caressed your cheek but jumped back as your fist landed against his arm.
“Hey! What was that for?” he rubbed his arm as he glared at you glaring back at him.
“Why haven’t you said anything?” you accused.
“Why haven’t you?” Chris fired back as the two of you stared each other down before you both started laughing.
Chris jumped back when you reached out to him, with a playful glimmer in his eyes. “Not gonna hit me again are you?”
“No you goof,” you rolled your eyes, “I was gonna kiss you but if that’s how it’s gonna be…”
You squealed when Chris suddenly wrapped his arm around your waist, lifting you into his lap before you could finish the sentence.
“Don’t do that,” you scolded, as Chris threw his head back in laughter.
“Revenge,” he chuckled before cupping your face in his hands and your heart skipped when you realized how close he was. “Can I kiss you?”
You swallowed harshly, as you nodded and Chris’ face lit up in the most beautiful smile before he leaned up pressing his lips carefully against yours. Just like that the rest of the world melted away as you wrapped your arms around his neck, happily letting Chris deepen the kiss. Your first kiss of many. Your first kiss of forever.

on this cold winter’s night.
prompt: shaking and shivering (bthb) / warm (gthb) fandom: scary stories to tell in the dark characters: sarah bellows, verna bellows au: project verna warnings: mentioned child abuse, cold
The ragged, worn blanket isn’t enough to keep Sarah warm. She pulls it tighter around herself, curls tighter, and tries to keep herself warm, but it’s not use. The cold of the basement saps any ounce of warmth she can muster. At this point she should be used to it, having spent many a cold night in this dark little room. But something about tonight’s cold is different. Harsher. The thin blanket her family gave her, or rather, allowed her, isn’t enough to keep the cold out. Layering is equally useless; a second blanket is only a small bit heavier than the first. Sarah feels the warmth return to her body for a moment, and then it’s gone.
Every moment she can’t get warm is a moment her extremities hurt a little bit more.
“Aunt Verna,” she whimpers to a dark, empty room. “Aunt Verna…”
How desperately she wants to be upstairs, curled up in her aunt’s arms, safe and warm and loved, instead of being down here, cold and lonely and forgotten.
Sarah sniffs and chokes out a sob. “Aunt Verna…” She’s cold, she’s so cold, all she wants is for someone to take her upstairs, or at the very least give her another, heavier blanket.
Suddenly the light goes on. Sarah curls tighter under her blanket. Is it morning already? Had she really been up all night? Time passes differently down here than it does upstairs, she wouldn’t be surprised. She looks up as the door swings open, expecting to see her brothers or her mother, but instead it’s Aunt Verna.
“Aunt Verna,” Sarah whimpers. She hides herself further under the blankets, if only to hide her shivering. “Aunt Verna, I’m cold.”
“Oh, Sarah.” Verna rushes to Sarah’s side; Sarah shivers violently. She rests a hand on Sarah’s cheek. “Oh, baby girl, you’re freezing!”
Sarah’s teeth chatter too hard for her to speak properly. “I-I wanna c-come upstairs, Aunt Verna.”
“Yep.” Verna wastes no time in pulling Sarah from her little bed and guiding her up from her basement room. Sarah huddles against Verna for warmth; she can barely feel the stone floor underneath her. “I’m going to have a nice long chat with your family about you sleeping down there on nights like this.” Sarah’s not sure what Verna says after that, it’s all mumbled, and angrily so. She doesn’t try to listen too hard, she’s too tired and too cold for that. Instead, she tucks her hands underneath her arms and tries to focus on putting one foot in front of the other, trying not to trip as the floor goes from stone to unpolished wood to polished wood to rug to polished wood again.
Sarah expects the air on this level of the house to be warmer, steadily warm instead of what feels like a residual warmth, that of a fire put out hours ago. But she’s so frozen she hardly notices the change in temperature.
Verna guides her into the main room, where Sarah blearily makes out the remnants of a fire that had been put out earlier in the night. Thinking of the heat it gives off somehow serves to make her colder instead. How nice it would be to sleep in front of it…
But she’d rather be on a soft mattress than the hard wood floor.
“Do you want to sit in front of the fire?” Verna holds her tighter, holds her a little more upright.
Sarah shakes her head. She’s cold and she’s tired, all she wants to do is sleep. “Jus’ wanna go t’ bed,” she mumbles, and leans heavier into Verna’s shoulder. She wants to cry, but she’s so cold she’s sure her tears are going to freeze before she can shed them.
“Alright, sweetheart.” Verna holds her closer, guides her up the stairs until Sarah’s legs give out—she’s too cold to walk, her feet hurt, she just wants to lay down. Her aunt scoops her up and carries her the rest of the way up the stairs, only setting her down long enough to open door, then picks her up again and kicks the door shut behind her.
Verna wastes no time getting Sarah warm. She sets Sarah on the bed, and Sarah watches as Verna digs through her clothes for something. Up here, the rooms are much warmer, comfortably warm, but the cold has settled so deeply in Sarah’s bones that she doesn’t notice it. She lays on the bed, curled as tightly as she can, and shivers. Her fingers hurt. Her feet hurt. Her nose is frozen and runny, but her hands are too cold for her to untuck them from under her arms to wipe it. She buries her nose in the pillow, closes her eyes. It smells like Verna and it’s infinitely thicker and softer than the old thin one she has down in her room.
It’s enough that she starts to drift off, shaken out of her almost-slumber by the bed shifting under Verna’s weight and a warm hand around her ankle. Sarah bolts upright, clumsily, barely making it to her elbows. “Don’ touch—” and then any cold in the air is locked out by the heavy fabric Verna slips over her foot.
“It’s okay, sweetheart,” Verna says, and holds up another piece of dark fabric, the match to the one on Sarah’s foot. “It’s the heaviest pair of winter socks I’ve got.”
Sarah mumbles indiscriminately, shifting herself around so she can watch as Verna slip the other one on. It only takes a moment, but it feels like it takes longer and all she wants to do is sleep. Why is Aunt Verna still fiddling with that damn sock? She pulls her foot away from Verna. Get off and let me sleep.
“Alright.” The bed shifts again as Verna stands; already Sarah’s feet don’t feel as frozen; some feeling is starting to return, or so she thinks; it’s hard to tell when they hurt so much.
Then the blankets are pulled out from underneath her. Sarah cringes with a whimper, raising her head as Verna pulls them away, and curls in on herself with a distressed whine—All I want to do is sleep. Why can’t I just sleep?—and then they’re over her again, heavier and thicker than any of her blankets downstairs.
“There you go, sweetheart,” Verna says, gently rubbing Sarah’s shoulder. “Feel better?”
Sarah all but melts into the warmth; she feels her extremities beginning to thaw out. Her fingers and toes are still sore, but at least she can feel them now. She nods.
She’s half asleep as the covers and the mattress shift again, and this time there’s another person in the bed with her, pulling her close and wrapping her in their arms. Sarah blinks sleepily and finds herself looking into Aunt Verna’s dress. She pushes her nose into Verna’s shoulder, wriggling closer. Verna’s hug tightens.
“Oh, my little Sarah.” Verna kisses the top of her head, holds her closer still. “I love you, sweetheart.”
“I love you, too, Aunt Verna,” she whispers, and wiggles one more time before she’s settled and comfortable enough.
It’s the warmest she’s been on a winter night in a long, long time.

“Y/N?”
You frowned at the hoarse voice coming from your phone. It was nearing midnight and you were in your pyjamas with a hot drink and a bowl of cereal, just about to hop into bed. Who the hell would call you at this time? You didn’t have the number saved, but the voice sounded familiar.
“Y/N? Shit is this the wrong number-” the voice clicked in your mind, and before he could hang up you were talking to him.
“Dean?” You didn’t have a last name to go off, but you were pretty sure the first name he gave you was real.
“Oh thank God.”
“Are you alright? You sound kinda sick or something,” you frowned, your cereal growing soggier as your concern for him became your main priority.
You and Dean had a purely business relationship, and he never initiated contact. Hell, you never even had his personal phone number! There had to be a serious reason as to why he was calling you, you just couldn’t think of it.
“Uh, yeah, ‘bout that. I’m in rut.”
Deciding that it wasn’t dire, you shovelled another spoonful into your mouth before answering. “Is that related to why you’re calling me?”
“That’s kinda the whole reason why I’m calling you.” Blink. A splash of milk landed on your arm. When you didn’t reply straight away, he kept going, “my rut isn’t due for another month. I think… I think that you caused it.”
“And how the hell did I manage to do that if I haven’t seen you in two months?”
Ah yes, the dry spell. Well, that’s what you liked to call it. You decided that it was probably time for you to stop calling Dean up every time your social group had a function, and it had unintentionally lasted three weeks. Then you decided that you couldn’t call him because you had left it too long. You figured that he probably had way more clients now and wouldn’t even be able to find time for you, which led you to now, three months later.
He grunted, and you were reminded of how serious the situation was. If you had managed to force his rut on him rather than it occurring naturally, that meant that only you could get him out of it. And time is of the essence when it comes to forced ruts because they tend to play with Alpha’s heads. If Dean was left long enough he could even go feral, and a feral Alpha was a lost cause.
“Look, I accidentally stole a pair of your panties.”
You sputtered indignantly, is that what happened to your favourite pair? The ones that you only got to wear a grand total of three times before they vanished?
“I shoved them in my pocket the last time we... hooked up. It was at that fancy ball thing your friend was hosting, and I wanted to keep them up off the floor so that no one would see them. I forgot all about them, to be honest, I haven’t even gotten around to washing my pants from that night yet.”
“Gross,” you interjected. It had been at least three months since that day.
“Well, it is what it is. I found them a few hours ago, and your scent… It’s so strong on them, holy fuck, and I never noticed it before, but I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever smelt in my whole damn life. And I don’t know if my body is just tense from not seeing you in so long, but…. I sort of just snapped, and now I’m starting to go into rut, and I feel like a pervert because I can’t focus on anything but the damn smell of those panties.”
“Dean, I’ll come over if you need me to. But are you 100 per cent certain that it’s my panties you're smelling? Like, are you positive that I’m the one who put you into it? Surely you have a ton of other clients who could have done it.”
“Y/N, I haven’t seen any other clients in almost a year. I deleted my profile on the website and everything. And besides, I've never slept with any client other than you." A smug smile spread across your face as you heard that last sentence, suck it insecurities! Dean Winchester didn't get a ton of other clients and move on! "But anyway, you were the only client I’ve kept seeing since then. I’ve been trying to work up the courage to ask you on a real date ever since I deleted my profile but it never seemed like something you would have been into. And then you stopped contacting me, so I assumed you met someone and moved on past me. Wait, shit, you aren’t seeing someone, are you?”
You blinked at the wall, trying to process everything that he had just said to you. He was into you? Were you the reason he shut his profile down, or were you being narcissistic and really he was just getting sick of it? But if that was the truth, he wouldn't have kept seeing you afterwards.
You weren’t gonna lie, you did get butterflies around him, but you thought that was just because he was so good at his job. I mean, he was paid a ridiculous amount of money to give you a good time. You always just assumed that he was giving you your money's worth, never that there was actual intent behind his actions. A smile was spreading across your face and you resisted the urge to giddily squeak, but then Dean was groaning down the phone again and you remembered the urgency of the situation.
“I’m single,” you managed to blurt out. “Text me your address and I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
He hung up the phone to text you before you could grill him any further on his feelings for you, but it wasn't like you could blame him. When you went into heat, it was always the only thing you could focus on. You had never called Dean when you went into it though, always settling for taking some meds and willing yourself through the worst of it. To feel needed by someone like Dean, who was considered such good company that he was literally paid to spend time with people, was amazing.
You grabbed the first bag you could find, which happened to be an old book bag from high school. You threw a few bottles of water and snacks into it in case Dean was running low on them and got going.
You pulled up outside his apartment block fifteen minutes later, taking a second to marvel at how upscale the building was. Escorting obviously gave him a decent wage.  That thought made you think about how weird the whole situation was. You didn't even know the man's surname but here you were speeding across the city to help him.
The doorman was waiting for you and led you to the elevator, telling you to send Dean his regards. If he had any questions about why you were showing up in your pyjamas with a school bag, he didn't ask them.
Dean told you that his apartment was 32B, but he really didn’t have to specify, you could smell him the second you stepped out of the elevator. Following your nose rather than the numbers on the doors, you knocked quickly against his door before you could hear him shout that it was open.
If you thought that his scent had been strong in the hall, it was a completely different story once his door swung open. You could have dropped to your knees right then and there if you hadn’t of known how much he needed you at that moment.
“Dean? You good buddy? I brought some water and some snacks to stock you up for a few days in case you run low, I don’t know how long your ruts last for…” You trailed off, eyeing how fancy the entryway to his apartment was.
“Bring it with you, I’m on the third door on the right.”
When you got to the threshold of the room he was in, you were greeted by the beautiful sight of him sweaty and in just his underwear, a sight you hadn’t realised just how much you had missed until that moment.
“Thank God,” he sighed, relief on his face. You opened the bag and threw a bottle of water at him and he smiled gratefully, twisting the cap off before chugging the whole thing.
His room was boyish. It was considerably less fancy than the rest of his apartment that you had seen, and it really gave you an insight into the man behind the penis. There was a collection of guitars hung up along the wall and shelves full of DVDs and CDs, and a poster for All Saint's Day hung slightly crooked on his closet. Your panties were crumpled up into a ball on the bed beside where Dean was propped up, and you were both relieved and annoyed that they were your good pair that went missing. All in all, his room felt like a homely mancave.
“You good?” You decided to ask him.
“I haven’t gone fully into it yet, but… Since you opened the door, your scent is super strong and it's speeding things up.”
He looked like he was struggling to remain coherent and you took pity on him. “What do you need me to do?”
“Getting naked would be a great place to start,” he joked with a grin, but you nodded and went along with it.
You tugged your shirt over your head, not even trying to hide your smirk at his reaction to seeing your boobs. You weren't wearing a bra because you were just about to go to sleep, and you didn't bother putting one on before you ran out.
“Holy shit I didn’t think it was possible for my dick to get any harder right now,” he cursed, dropping a hand to palm himself. Your eyes followed his movement and you allowed yourself to notice just how hard he was for the first time since you’d stepped into the room. His cock was clearly outlined through his briefs, and if your eyesight was any clearer you would probably be able to see him throb.
“Please Y/N, I need something, literally anything, it just hurts really bad and-”
You interrupted him by crawling over the bed to him, planting your arms on his shoulders and pushing him onto his back. The bed reeked of Alpha arousal, and you felt like if the scent got any stronger it would trigger your own heat. To distract both of you, you kissed him firmly.
Though you had spent months without each other, the kiss was perfect, as if you had never lost any time. Dean kissed you with a needy eagerness as his hands reached for your hips, pulling you down to grind against him. He was hard as a rock, and you gasped into his mouth as he bumped against your clit.
“You should take these damn pants off before I do it myself. And if I do it, they’ll get shredded,” Dean practically growled when he pulled back from the kiss. His lips were even poutier than normal, flushing a deep red that almost matched the heat in his cheeks.
You figured it was probably smart to listen to him because you were wearing your comfiest pair. Hopping off of him and the bed, you shoved them down your legs quickly, leaving you in your ratty but comfortable underwear. He barely seemed to notice that, however, although a small smirk appeared when he saw the holes in your boy shorts.
“Easy access?”
“More like my washing machine has no respect for anything cotton.”
“Get back over here,” he whined, patting his lap. You rolled your eyes at how he changed the subject so subtly.
You straddled him again and leaned in for a kiss but he dodged your lips completely, leaning down to suck one of your nipples into his mouth. “Shit, Dean!” You whimpered in surprise at the unexpected gesture.
“I have missed you both so much,” he groaned, looking right at your boobs as he said it.
You laughed at how immature he was, it was refreshing to see that he hadn’t changed much while you were apart. To distract him you rolled your hips down, grinding onto his dick and making his breath catch.
This caused something to snap inside of him as he rolled the two of you over suddenly, leaving you to lie on your back with him in between your legs. The ever growing wet spot in your panties was pressed right against his bulged, only separated by your underwear.
“Stop teasing me, Omega,” he commanded, and shivers went down your spine at the unfamiliar tone he was using with you. He had never broken out his ‘Alpha voice’ when you two had had sex before, usually keeping it light with his playful antics. Now you felt like you were having sex with him for the first time all over again as he stared at you with a newfound intensity you had never seen in anyone before, let alone from him.
“Make me,” you urged him, gasping when he reached down and ripped your underwear clean off.
“Trust me, I was planning on it.”
He looked like he wanted to keep talking after that but he paused as your scent filled the room, uncovered. It seemed that your own heat definitely would be coming soon as your scent grew stronger almost as if to challenge Dean’s.
“Omega,” he growled, and it was then that you knew he was fully under. There was no more laughing and joking, as he now had one thing on his mind - to knot you.
“Alpha,” you submitted, wrapping your legs around his waist to pull yourself closer to him. His eyes darkened, blown wide with lust as he rutted against you, putting a hand down to guide himself into your pussy. “Oh my God.”
He stretched your walls out almost painfully, and you could feel the beginning of his knot press against your ass once he bottomed out. He had never knotted you before, something that had you both nervous but excited.
“Fuck, ‘mega,” he grunted, dropping his forehead to rest against your shoulder as he glanced down to where the two of you were connected. “So tight. Feels like you were made to take my knot.”
He drew his hips back and slammed forward, sending you inches up the bed. He grabbed your shoulders to keep you in place before setting up a punishing rhythm. It felt like he was trying to make you feel this for months afterwards, which you didn’t doubt would happen.
His breath was brushing against your sensitive mating gland on your neck, and you half wished he would just reach down and bite onto it, to make you his Omega.
The room filled with the wet sound of him entering you and the combination of your desperate moans as the two of you tried to stay as close to each other as possible the whole time.
His knot was almost ready now, big and insistent with every thrust of his hips. “Please, Dean, Alpha, need you to knot me,” you begged, arching your back to raise your hips and give him a better angle. "I want to come on your knot."
"Jesus Christ," he groaned, his thrusts growing uneven. He reached a hand down to rub your clit, making you unintentionally clench harder around him. He was growing close, you could tell by the way his thrusts lost their rhythm as he focused more on force rather than pace.
With each slam of his hips his knot rubbed against you, pushing and pushing until finally, it popped and tied the two of you together.
"Fuck Dean!" You cried, the sudden stretch in your pussy being that last push you needed to send you over the edge. You came around him, milking his cock as he filled you with his cum. He kept rubbing your clit the whole time you came until finally you caved into your sensitivity and had to push his hand away.
Once the two of you were finished, you got comfortable lying on your side facing each other. You kept one leg propped up around his waist and he had a hand on your thigh, squeezing it softly as he smiled down at you. His rut was calming down for a while, you could tell as his cheeks returned to their normal colour.
"I missed you," he admitted quietly, looking at where his hand was on you rather than into your eyes.
"Was it true? When you said that you've never slept with another client?"
He nodded and looked back up at you. "It was. And so was what I said about wanting to ask you out on a date. And now it's my turn to ask a question. Would you like to go on a date with me when this is all over?"
You grinned at his words, glad to hear that they were true. "Of course I would, Dean. But only if I get to ask one more question."
"Anything."
"What the hell is your last name?"

How to Save a Life
A ficlet for @goodthingshappenbingo square “Saved at the Last Moment”
Poor Stephen. There is a happy ending after the pain, don’t worry.
Over and over did he die.
Stabbed. Again and again.
The pain always sharp. Always sudden. Never lessening.
The blade went through his chest, his heart breaking before the eyes of the Avengers, and the light died from his eyes.
Then time rewound.
And he was stabbed again.
Again they gasped as the blade forced its way through.
And they again felt the pain of losing him.
Then time rewound.
Again he was stabbed.
But this time there was something different.
This time Tony glitched in the air. He had not returned to where he had been.
Instead he was that tiny bit closer.
And the others saw it.
Time rewound.
Stephen choked on his breath as the sword dug into his heart.
Tears fell from the eyes of the Avengers as they struggled to move.
To help him.
Time rewound.
The Avengers cried with grief and rage as they were moved away.
Stephen was stabbed again.
Thor reached out.
Their light died.
Time rewound.
Stephen’s eyes widened and closed tightly as the sword came for his life.
But while pain blossomed, it was different from before.
This time as he fell, arms caught him tightly.
Hands pressed against the gash on his side.
Rain fell upon his face.
Stephen looked up to find grief and love pouring from the Avengers.
Time continued.
Life went on.
Love gave them that one moment.
To save a life.
And their soul.

Maybe Someday
Maybe Someday (Single Father! Human! Castiel x Reader)
Tumblr media
Square(s) Filled: Friends to Lovers for @spnkinkbingo and Friends to Lovers for @goodthingshappenbingo Ship: Single Father! Castiel x Reader Characters: Single Father! Human! Castiel, Reader, OFC! Amelia (Castiel’s Ex-Wife), West and Maison Rating: Explicit Warnings: Smut (fingering, grinding, cum everywhere), Angst, Fluff, Adorable Children Word Count: 3K (beta’d by me, all mistakes are mine)
Summary:  Being friends with someone like Castiel is hard, pretending that you only want to be friends with him is even harder. Especially now that he’s single again.
We Get What We Deserve
A/N:  Castiel’s kids are named West and Maison cause I love them and he works at Random Acts in the fic. This was originally a Misha x Reader series but it was causing problems for my over all fanfic this is in. So if you see “Misha” instead of Cas, lemme know. Also let me know if you want to be tagged in my SPN Kink Bingo Series.
“Castiel?” You called out, boots stomping onto the rug by the door. Snow had coated you entirely, it had been a miracle that you had made it Castiel’s house in the first place. “Castiel? Anybody home?” No one answered you, forcing you to yell louder. “Castiel Novak!”
Instead of Castiel, you got West, the boy running past you naked into the play room. Followed behind by the man you’d been trying to get the attention of. “Hey Y/n!” Both of them called out as they ran past you. “Be with you in a minute!”  Castiel cried as he ran after his son.
You laughed softly as you stripped off your jacket and scarf, toeing off your boots and setting them all to the side. Living in Washington required the heavy layers constantly during the winter months. Without them, you’d be left frozen to the bone and soaking wet most days.
Castiel. It had never been just a normal friendship with him.
Castiel had gone to college with you years ago. You’d been pretty good friends despite being in different majors. While he had been called to the Business program, you had been called to the Education department. And where you had been called to love him, Castiel had been called to Amelia.
Amelia had been in the Business program with Castiel and while you truly did want him to be happy, Amelia just wasn’t who you saw him getting with. Maybe a part, okay a large part, of you had thought he would have gotten together with you. That you would be the one in the white dress walking down the isle.
You were fine though. You promised yourself that you would bury those feelings because one thing you promised to never do was ruin a marriage. A part of you wished you had grown the balls to admit what you felt for him before he’d fallen in love with someone else.
It didn’t matter though, Castiel was your Best Friend and you would do absolutely anything for him. You were there for the wedding, for West’s birth and for Maison’s, and for the big move he took out to Washington for Castiel’s not for profit company that he’d started. Castiel even helped you move across the country just to stay close to him.
Watching him be happy with a family of his own was the only thing that had helped you move on. It was easier after that.
Boyfriends would come and go through out your life but there wasn’t one that would stick. None of them seemed to be all that comfortable with the fact that your best friend had been a man and Castiel never fully approved of any of them.
Things had changed in recent years though, Amelia had been home less often. Which prompted Castiel to ask you to be even more involved in his children’s lives. Taking care of them while Castiel “helped saved the world” as West would put it.
You never would have expected that Amelia had been away from her family because she’d been seeing another man. Castiel would never express to you just how hurt he had been the day he found our. It just wasn’t his style; he wasn’t one to burden people with his own emotions.
Despite Amelia’s infidelity, he begged her to stay, for their two children, for the love that he felt they still had. She didn’t care though, she’d left and you were there to pick up the pieces of your best friends heart.
The one good thing about it all was that West and Maison had been too young to really understand everything that had been going on. Since then, you spent almost everyday at their house taking care of the kids (and Cas when he would let you).
Castiel finally walked back into the foyer, bringing you out of your thoughts. West now dressed in pajama’s and on his father’s shoulders. “Glad to see you could make it to mystery dinner night.” He smiled and pressed his lips to your cheek. A warmth blossomed through you and made its way to your cheeks. Thank god they were already red from the coldness of outside and would be unnoticeable.
“Yeah. It’s always better with you Y/n.” West cheered and reached down mess with his fathers ears. Maison made her way into the room as well and attached herself to your legs. “Y/n!” She cried and looked up at you.
“I sure am hungry. What about you guys?” You beam at the each of them and take noble into the kitchen with Maison still on your leg as you all walk into the kitchen to the right. Overflowing bags of food sit atop the counters; West ushers you and his father over to the kitchen table.
“Sittttttttttttt.” He groans, frowning as he pulls out both chairs and guides you into the seat. Castiel on the other hand, decides to use some of his strength to push back on West. “Daaaaaaaaaaadddddddd.” West whines as Castiel smiles down at his son.
“What? C’mon, let us help you. Why should you two get all the fun?” Castiel looks to you, but you shake your head and raise your hands up, not wanting to associate with that statement.
“Oh no, you’re on your own with that one Cas. Mystery Dinner isn’t fun when we help.” You grin at him and Castiel gives up and plops himself into the chair.
“Thanks Mom!” West grins and runs away, not knowing what he’s really said. Your eyes widened a bit as he calls you his…Mom. Castiel and you share a look between each other. It was hard to hear, they thought that you were their mom. You knew he’d been trying to get his kids to stop calling you that. It didn’t seem to matter. You were there, always, Amelia was not. It was totally normal for them to assume you were their mom.
“Y/N, you know-“ Castiel started but you shook your head slightly, not wanting to hear about it. By now, you’d learned to accept it and let West and Maison call you what was only natural to them.
“So, Cas? How’s Random Acts?” The sudden change of topic was needed. Castiel would have continued to try and pester you about what was going on. “I know you’re getting ready to go to LA for some publicity work.”
Castiel smiled weakly and looked into your eyes and titled his head. “Yeah. You know, my offer still stands. You should come with us.”
“You know I can’t leave my job, my students need me. They’re not going to be happy that I just, left.” Castiel’s face fell for a moment before going back to that easy going smile you loved.
“Yeah, I know. It’s just the first trip with the kids without Amelia. It’ll be hard doing it alone. They’ll miss you like crazy.” Castiel leaned forwards, moving ever so closer towards you.
“They’ll be fine. You can just call me if they ever wanna talk.” Your eyes landed on Castiel’s hand as he reached forward to grab onto your own. He tipped your head up, making you unable to look away from him.
“I’ll miss you.” Castiel breathed. Unknowingly, the two of you had begun to lean forwards, getting closer and closer to one another.
“Cas, what about..” Words escaped you as the pad of his thumb brushed over your cheek.
“Y/N.” Castiel breathed your name out and just as he was about to go in all the way, Maison and West’s voice brought you back.
“Oops..” The two of them said in unison.  West must have dropped something because a loud clatter sounded behind the kitchen island. You stood up and giggled as spaghetti sauce covered the two of them. A large pot lying on the side of the floor. It was hard to hold back a laugh as the two of them had become covered in sauce. Both of your hands lifted up to your mouth and you struggled not to laugh.
“Oh no..” You giggled and bit at your lower lip. Castiel made his way over and sighed weakly as he saw them. Sitting down in the tomato sauce, Maison giggled as she laid down and made “tomato sauce angels”. Your eyes widened and you did your best to stop her as West soon followed his sister.
“Cmon Mom! Join us.” While a pain of guilt hit your chest, you let yourself be dragged down by them and onto the floor. Unable to stop his smile, Castiel shakes his head and smirks as he smears some of the sauce over your face.
You gape at him before narrowing your eyes and smearing sauce over his shirt. “I’ve been hit!” He cries and flops onto the floor and both kids crawl onto their father and sit on him. He releases a pained ‘oof’ as they all laugh.
An uncontrollable surge of sadness courses through you. It’s hard to stop as tears begin to well in the corners of your eyes. You feel so out of place in this moment. Every time the kids call you mom, the moment you’d had with Castiel, the way this all felt like you’d always been their family. You weren’t their mom and you weren’t with Castiel.
When Castiel finally noticed how upset you looked, he gently nudged his children off of him and stood up. Even covered in tomato sauce, he still looked as gorgeous as ever. “Y/N? Sweetheart, are you okay?” He questioned, taking a tentative step towards you.
No. No I’m fucking not.
Clearing your throat you said something to the affect of, “I need a minute.” And headed off to the bathroom closest to you. Castiel followed behind you and tried to open the door, only to find it locked. He would jiggle it a couple times in between knocking and begging you to open the door. Nothing worked though. At some point, he gave up and you realized that you’d become exhausted from crying and fell asleep.
Once you woke up, you felt the stickiness clinging to your body and decided a shower was certainly needed. After you finished, you stepped out into the hallway. The lights had been turned off and the house had become eerily quiet. Looking back down at your  phone, you sighed as you saw you’d been asleep for a good three hours.
“Shit.” It was too late to drive home and most of your body was still clinging to sleep. You moved to the steps but before you could really get anywhere, Castiel’s voice called through the living room.
“Y/N? Are you there?”
Part of you knew that it was a bad idea to go back and talk to him, but you also couldn’t avoid him forever. So, the rational part of your brain won and you headed to him. Sitting on the couch, he had his arm draped over the side of it; an open beer in his other hand.
He gave you a lop sided smile, easing you instantly. Sliding to the edge, he patted his hand against the couch, silently asking you to join him. He’d been watching something, but you couldn’t tell what since the credits were rolling.
“Cmon. Sit down.” Castiel looks up at you, those bright baby blue’s calling out to you. You can’t bring yourself to come closer, afraid that by mere proximity you might accomplish something stupid. Like admit your feelings for him.
Of course, you sitting beside him wasn’t the point. He stood up and began to walk towards you. Fear once again coursed through you, making you step back. Castiel followed you and the two of you continued this dance. While he moved closer, you stepped back. It was too late for you to notice he’d been purposefully backing you into a corner.
“What happened tonight? Why did you freak out?” He asked as your back collided against the wall. Your eyes squeezed shut tightly as you hoped to simply disappear.
“I don’t wanna talk about it. I really just want to borrow your couch and sle-“ Soon Castiel began to lean forwards, his head tilting downwards. Making sure his lips were hovering right over yours.
“Y/N. I don’t wanna fight it. I don’t want to have to worry about ruining our friendship because we won’t work. I already know we will.” He looked down at your lips and they formed a silent ‘o’ as he did. “All these years…I’m tired of dancing around what we feel towards each other.”
And then, he kissed you. Castiel  pushed in the rest of the way and brought his lips to yours. Once your eyes closed, his hand moved up and cupped the back of your head. He cradled you, holding you as if you were some precious thing.
“I love you.” It wasn’t on purpose but the two of you had pulled away in unison, only to say it to each other at the same moment. The words lingered, surrounding you two and fueled the passion that quickly sparked between you.
While his kiss was gentle at first, it didn’t stay that way. His hands slid down and raised them over your head, pressing you into the wall. After he was satisfied you couldn’t pull out of his grip, his lips kissed along your cheek and jaw. Moving behind your ear to whisper, “Did you mean it?’
Soft fingers move up under your t-shirt, skimming over the smooth skin he knew was hidden underneath. “Yes.” You sigh, aching to feel more than just feather light touches. “I love you Castiel Novak.” A gasp escapes you as he dips his hand below the waistline of your pants.
“Good..” He growls and flips you around, pressing your front end against the wall as your cheek smooshes against it too. The position wasn’t the most comfortable but it wasn’t the most important thing on your mind. Not when Castiel was pushing your sweats down to the floor.
You arched your back slightly and pressed your ass out to him. God, you were aching for him to touch you. “Don’t worry. I’ve got you baby girl.” Head tipping back to rest on his shoulder, his lips dragged along your collarbone. Soft and thick fingers dug into the fabric of your underwear.
He dug the tips of his fingertips into the cotton material of your store bought panties. “O-Oh..” Castiel dragged a moan of pleasure from you as he found your clit. With a sickening desire, he made sure to abuse the nub of pleasure, constantly sending you reeling back from the pleasure.
Realizing this only required one hand, Castiel pushed his free one underneath the t-shirt. He moaned softly as he squeezed at your chest. Unable to control himself, his hips pressed against yours. His erection sliding between your cheeks. “Go-god, Cas. Please. J-just fuck me.”
All the grinding was making you anxious and eager to feel him inside you. He was holding back though and he didn’t grant your request. Sliding the material of your underwear to the side, he slid a digit through the collecting slick between your folds. Heavy pants and small whimpers fell from your mouth as you continued to beg for more, all of him but still, Castiel continued to tease.
After you had become too loud, he forced the hand that had been on your chest over your mouth to cover your noises. Drool collected and small drips of saliva from your mouth fell through the cracks of his fingers. “Ugh..” You swooned as he finally breeched a finger past your entrance. You hadn’t even noticed him do it, but somehow Castiel had taken off his own sweats.
Wetness from where pre-cum had leaked onto his boxers rubbed along the back of your thighs. “Want to do it right…not like this.” He breathed, although you didn’t understand what he meant. The finger that was inside you curled as it moved in and out at a slow and dragging pace. If you’d been able to push against him for more you would have.
A second finger joined the first inside your heat, slick dripping down your thigh and onto his hand. It was too much, you were close to cuming from practically nothing. Once he added the heel of his palm to mash against your clit, you were gone, tumbling over the edge and crying out into the palm he had against your mouth.
You gasped as you felt Castiel push his boxers off his waist and slide his cock freely between the flesh of your cheeks. Like yourself, he hadn’t needed much before he reached his own release. Coating your back with cum, you sagged into his arms. It was a miracle that you were still standing honestly.
As soon as you’d got your breath, you turned to look up at Castiel. He smiled back down at you and leaned forwards to press another sweet kiss to your lips. It was hard to contain the smile that the kiss brought to your lips.
“As much as I wanted to give in to you. You deserve a special first time with me.” You snorted at his arrogance, but knew he was really trying to be sweet. Waiting for the right time was something you’d been doing for awhile. “Are you tired?” He asked and helped slide your clothes back onto your body.
“You are pretty exhausting to be around.” Though you were partially joking, you were exhausted once again. As soon as you told him, he was lifting you up off your feet and bringing you upstairs bridal style
“I know. I’ll try to keep my massive ego it to a minimum though.” He dropped you onto the master bed gently. The lights cut off and it was just the two of you alone and in his bed. You knew when you woke up, that he’d still be there. This wasn’t just one great wet dream.
Castiel had fallen for you and he’d want you just as badly as you had for all these years.
Castiel stumbled and dropped to the floor as the dream passed over him. Despite the fact that angels don't sleep, he laid on the floor for almost an hour before the dream seemed to end. His eyes lingered on the ceiling for a moment before the angel gained his composure and was able to stand back up.
Confusion and lust clouded his thoughts and made it harder to focus on the problem at hand. Who was that girl? Why did she appear in a dream to him. Part of Castiel had begun to wish that he had been able to stay inside the dream with the girl. A sense of belonging had overwhelmed him, more so than anything else he'd felt before.
Shame colored his face, a human emotion he hadn't felt since years before as a full blown human. Perhaps, he was weaker now without heaven, becoming susceptible to human thoughts. He hoped it would pass.

The Navy Seal Makes a Splash
Pairing: Steve McGarrett x Reader
Word Count: 403
Summary: You thought you were going to have a relaxing birthday, instead Steve enjoys teasing you.
Written for: @goodthingshappenbingo / @sdavid09
Squares Filled: Cuddling / Romance
Tumblr media
“I don’t want to move from this spot, I just want to be here with you,” You mumbled against Steve’s chest, you had been cuddled up for the last hour and it was nice to have the afternoon with the man you knew as the daredevil workaholic.
“It’s a good job, I turned my phone off and I’m not letting you go anywhere just yet. As much as I love my job, I love laying with you, just doing nothing.” You appreciated Steve’s word, sometimes you went for a long time without seeing each other. Each of your schedule’s didn’t really give you that one on one time that you wanted to spend with each other.
Eddie, though, had other ideas. Steve’s adorable dog jumped up in your lap, sniffing you before licking both of your faces. He had a habit of getting himself into trouble but quickly getting out of it with his cute little face, one that you couldn’t stay mad at.
“That lasted longer that I thought.” You giggled, untangling yourself from Steve. “You wanna go take a dip in the water?”
“Since you’re already up, might as well join the prettiest woman on the beach.” Steve smirked, throwing a towel on his deck chair, chasing after you, arms wrapping around your waist and pulling you under the water.
Choking on the way up, you pushed your hair out of your face before coughing and spluttering. When your breathing evened out again, you pushed the water over at Steve in his face, of course being a navy Seal, he remained unfazed by your retaliation. “That was uncalled for, especially on my birthday. You’re supposed to be nice to me.”
Steve pulled his lips into a faux pout, it was one that you loved so much but hated when he used it against you. “I’m supposed to nicer that now.” He smirked at his stupid joke, his hands finding your waist once more, pulling you against him.
“Yeah.” Before you could say anything else, Steve pulled your face up to his own, lips pressing firmly to yours, making you forget about your almost death experience.
“I love you, birthday girl.” You spent the next hour in the clear blue ocean, laughing and playing. It was the perfect day, one you would never wish to replace for the world, one that you had ingrained in your mind for the future to come.

Taking a break from being with the Avengers is probably the best thing you could have ever done for yourself. It’s not like you hated being around them--they were actually really good company and all of them were your best and closest friends. It was the job, the constant search for approval from the public, the need to always be better than everyone else--all of that was just too much on your emotional state.
You were easily replaced since all you did was hack into stuff and be their personal computer genius. Yes, there was Jarvis who was a lot better than you, but in certain situations, you were the person they looked for the most. That, and you had a special skill in mechanical engineer and helped create new and exciting technology for the team. It was fun work, but you like what you do now.
Now, you were a Youtuber, and you have a pretty big fan base since everyone was interested in your stories of being with the Avengers. Your Youtube channel consists mostly of you talking about the Avengers, having them on as guests to talk, showing off new technology that you create as a hobby, and reaction videos to comments and other things that fans want the Avengers to know. It was a fun job especially since you’re still on Tony’s payroll. It’s allowed you to live the lifestyle you want and to do the things you enjoy. He considers you family so he’s going to support you no matter what.
Those big paychecks have offered you a big beach house in New York where you can relax, go to the beach, test out cool technology, and anything else you wanted to do. Your beach house was huge, and it was often lonely for one person. There were at least eight bedrooms, six and a half baths, a big pool, a theater room, and a game room. Tony really wanted you to have it all and made sure to spoil you.
One of the great things about Tony is that he likes to surprise you when you least expect him. Usually, it’s just him, Steve, and Nat, but other times he’ll bring the whole group to hang with you. Times with them were so fun, and you had such great stories to tell your fans when they left.
About an hour ago, you had just finished recording and editing another video when you felt the wind pick up. It wasn’t windy all day, but then you heard the noise of Tony’s big ass jet headed your way. Looking at the sky, you shielded your eyes from the burning sun to watch the jet land on the sand. Almost all of the Avengers came piling out of it with summer items in their hands.
“Thanks for the warning,” you said, hugging Tony.
“I figured it was time for a visit. I brought the whole crew with me.”
“T-the whole c-crew?” you stuttered, feeling a blush creep up your neck.
“Yes, everyone,” he smirked, patting you on your back. He knew of your crush on the super soldier, and he used that against you every time he brought him over.
“Hey, it’s good to see you,” Steve smiled, giving you a hug.
“I thought Bucky was in Wakanda,” you asked, watching as the man of your dreams stepped off the plane.
“He was. We picked him up on the way. Good luck,” he whispered, patting you on the back. Great, Tony must have told him. Bucky made you so nervous, you didn't know what to do with yourself. He could ask you what the time was, and you wouldn’t be able to form a single word. It’s gotten better since you met him, but you were still a nervous wreck. If only you knew how he felt towards you, then maybe you could be better when it comes to presenting yourself to him.
Before he had a chance to come up to you and talk, you headed inside only to see Tony, Steve, and Clint messing with your Youtube equipment.
“Hey! Stay away from those! They are expensive!”
“Who do you think you’re talking to?” Tony smirked.
“Don’t make me smack you,” you glared. “So, what are you all doing here? I mean, I love your company, but you usually have a reason to visit.”
“We wanted to go on vacation. You have a beach house, and we figured that a beach trip was in order. Plus, I hear your pool is very nice,” Wanda smiled.
“Yes, it is. You all have Tony to thank for that. Alright, well, I guess if you’re all here, may as well make this a real party.”
Tumblr media
It didn’t take long for you to get situated since everyone was super excited to be here. Alcohol, food, and party games were set up all around the house. There were people in the game room playing beer pong but with shots, some were watching movies, others were seeing how far they could hold their breath underwater in your pool. You wanted to join Bucky, Natasha, Steve, and Thor in the pool, but you were super nervous since you were worried about what Bucky would think of you in a swimsuit.
It was super nice, and you loved the style of it. It fit just right, showed off the best parts of yourself, and made you feel pretty good about yourself. It screamed at you to put it on and show it off, but you were just so worried of what Bucky would think of you.
“Come join us! The water is warm!” Thor announced.
“Yeah, come in,” Bucky agreed. Well, if he wanted you to come in, then who were you to deny him? Taking a deep breath, you walked back inside and changed into your swimsuit and wrapped a towel around you. Walking outside, you headed to the group of chairs the others were occupying. By the time you came out, Natasha and Thor were laying on the chairs and soaking up what little sun they had. It was nearing the end of the night, so the sunset was just beautiful.
In order for you to do this, you couldn’t even look at Bucky. Unwrapping the towel, you let it drop to the ground. Bucky noticed the way it looked on you before you jumped in, and that image will forever be etched in his mind. Steve noticed the way he was looking at you, and he nudged his friend in encouragement.
“Go talk to her, man,” he whispered before swimming off. When you surfaced, you rested your arms on the side of the pool to watch the sunset.
“It’s nice of you to have us over,” Bucky said when he swam to you. Your body froze, but you made sure not to let him know how much he affected you.
“It’s not a big deal, really. I like having you guys over. I miss you. I-I mean, everyone. I miss e-everyone.”
“Is that a new suit? It looks really good on you.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere,” you half-joked. It surprised you how smooth that sentence came out, but instead of questioning it, you decided to go with it.
“Duly noted,” he laughed.
“You look good too. I mean, I like your swimsuit. N-not that I was staring at you or anything, but--never mind,” you blushed. And the smoothness flies out the window as if was never there in the first place.
“Thank you,” he grinned.
Tumblr media
The rest of the night was spent partying and having a good time with one another. It was only until everyone was asleep did you sneak out of the house to do your favorite thing in the world: stargazing. The stars were so pretty and bright this time of night, and because you don’t have a lot of pollution or light where you are, the sky was clearer.
It was silent and peaceful much like any other night, but you appreciated it more tonight. Maybe it was because you had guests over who were usually rowdy or whatever, but you did.
“Can’t sleep?” Bucky asked when he stepped outside. He noticed you standing outside all alone when he went to get something to drink and decided to see what was up with you.
“No, I just like to look at the stars,” you replied, your eyes not moving from the sky.
“They are beautiful,” he muttered, staring at you the entire time.
“Why aren’t you asleep?”
“Something had been on my mind the entire night, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I get it out.”
“What’s on your mind?” you asked, finally turning to face him.
“You. Everything about you.”
“I’m sorry, what? Me?”
“Yeah. From the way you look in the moonlight to the sunset to the morning. I miss having you at the tower because I miss you. You were the best part of my day.”
“Where is this coming from?” you whispered.
“I’ve been keeping this inside for so long, I needed to say it. It’s alright if you don’t feel the same way as I do, but I just needed you to know.”
Well, may as well come clean if he was.
“Bucky, I’ve been crazy about you since I first met you. God, if I knew how you felt, then maybe I wouldn’t have acted like such a fool in front of you.”
“So, we feel the same way for each other.”
“I guess we do,” you smiled. Bucky has been through a lot of shit his entire life. There have been a lot of things that could have killed him but didn't. He’s fallen so many times, he’s lost count. But one thing is for certain--it won’t be those things that will kill him…

There hasn’t been anyone in your life that makes you feel the way that Dean does. Before him, you were just a shy girl who couldn’t come out of her shell for anyone. Dean was… something different. He was the type of man that would go after anything he wanted and get it. He expelled confidence that you wished you had.
Ever since you got your first taste of Dean, you never settled for another flavor again.
You know just what to say Shit, that scares me, I should just walk away But I can't move my feet The more that I know you, the more I want to Something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday, oh
“Sam,” you hissed. Reaching over, you smacked him in the arm to get him to wake up. There was someone in your apartment, and you didn’t know who it was, what they wanted, or what their intentions were.
“What?” he mumbled sleepily.
“There’s someone in the apartment. Please get up!”
“Wait, what?” he asked, more awake at the fear in your voice.
“There is someone here! Wake up!” you urged once again. There was a crash in the living room, which woke Sam right up. He shot out of bed and looked at you with wide eyes.
“Stay behind me,” he whispered, grabbing the bat he had by his bedroom door. Sam was a big guy and super strong, so you knew the intruder would have a hard time taking him down than if you were to go up against them. He snuck out of the room with you trailing close behind. Peering into the living room, you saw a silhouette of someone standing by the shelf where you kept all of your really good pictures--portraits, photoshoots, and silly pictures.
Sam held up a hand, which signaled you to stay where you are. He crept up behind the stranger and took him down, not expecting him to fight back. The two people started fighting, but the stranger got the upper hand and pinned Sam down onto the floor.
“Sam!” you yelled, covering your mouth immediately after.
“You’re getting rusty, little brother,” the stranger grinned.
“Dean?!” Sam exclaimed, shoving his older brother off him.
“You know him?” you asked as the two men stood up. Sam reached over and turned on the light, letting you see who this person was. As soon as you and Dean made eye contact, it was like something happened to your body. There was a pull coming from his body to yours, and you felt your legs began moving towards him. It was as if your body was telling you that this was the man you’ve been searching for your entire life.
“Yeah, he’s my older brother. What the hell, man? You couldn’t have come through the front door like a normal person?” Sam yelled.
“Who are you?” Dean asked, ignoring his brother’s concern.
“Y/N, I’m Sam’s roommate,” you smiled, shaking his hand tightly.
“What are you doing here, Dean?”
“Dad’s on a hunting trip… and he hasn’t been home in a few days.”
You know just how to make my heart beat faster Emotional earthquake, bring on disaster You hit me head-on, got me weak in my knees Yeah, something inside me's changed I was so much younger yesterday, ye-eah So much younger yesterday, oh, yeah
You didn’t know how long you’ve been here or when Sam or Dean is going to come and save you, but you did know one thing: Lucifer was a giant asshole. Your throat was dry as hell, and no matter how much saliva you managed to muster up, it wasn’t enough to hydrate your throat.
Lucifer kidnapped you when he figured out that Dean had a Hand of God. He wanted it, so he took the one thing that mattered to him--you. He’s been keeping you locked up in a cage, depriving you of water. In order to keep you alive, he would give you just enough to keep your organs from shutting down. It’s not like he needed to do that--he could easily heal you of any major repercussions. However, he wanted you to feel the pain, and to feel the sweet release the tiny amount of water he would give you.
“You’re not going to get it,” you whispered, looking at the archangel who inhabited your friend. Castiel thought it was a good idea to let Lucifer inside of him since he promised he could take down the Darkness from within. Castiel let him in, and now he isn’t planning on leaving.
“Don’t be so sure, sweetheart. I have ways of getting what I want,” Lucifer grinned. Seeing Castiel’s face really clouded you with confusion, but that was the dehydration talking.
“I need water,” you whispered, not having the energy to get up.
“I think you can go a few more hours without it,” he laughed. Since there wasn’t a lot of things to do in the cage except to sit there and wait for Death, you thought of Dean. He must be so worried about you as he searched high and low for you. Ever since joining him and his brother, you’ve been accepted into the family as part of their own.
The only thing keeping you going right now was Dean, and only because you knew he was your soulmate. There was something that pulled you to him when you first met him, and that pull hasn’t gone away since. He got your heart pounding at the mere thought of him, even if you were facing certain death.
Yes, being with him in this life was risky, but if it meant you got to wake up next to him every morning, you would take on that disaster. He was the kind of man that made any kind of hell and nightmare worth it.
“Sweetheart?” Dean whispered as he fumbled with the cage.
“Dean?” you asked when you opened your eyes.
“I’m here. I’m going to get you out of here. Just hold on a little longer, okay?”
“Okay,” you nodded. Maybe he was a hallucination, or maybe this was real, but you were going to do what he said no matter what.
I didn't know that I was starving till I tasted you Don't need no butterflies when you give me the whole damn zoo
It’s been days since Dean and Sam left to go on a hunt. They wanted you to stay at the Bunker since you’ve been feeling sick the past few days. If it wasn't for the constant throwing up and the high fever, then you would have gone with them. Thankfully, you’ve been feeling a lot better physically.
Emotionally, you were a wreck.
The last thing you heard from Dean was that they finished the case, and they were on their way home. That was about two days ago, and they still weren't back yet. Neither brother was answering their phones, so it’s not like you could get an update. Castiel was nowhere to be seen or heard, so it’s not like you could ask him about them. All the cars in the Bunker were either too damaged to work or needed some serious repairs that you didn't know how to do, which meant you couldn’t go after them.
The only thing you could do was sit here and hope that they make it back okay.
It’s been a few hours since you last checked the time, and you actually fell asleep at one of the library tables. The bunker door creaked open, which is what woke you up. The pounding of heavy feet and grunts filled your ears, and it took a moment to figure out what they were back home. Scrambling out of your seat, you rushed into the war room and threw yourself at Dean.
He grunted at the force of you, but he wrapped his arms around your waist tightly. Sam patted you on the back as he passed by and headed straight to his room to take a shower and change.
“You’re back home,” you muttered in his neck.
“I’m home,” he whispered. Dean could make your entire body flair up in heat or flutter at the sound of his voice because he had that power over you. It wasn’t fair, but if you really thought about it, you were the luckiest woman on Earth.
By the way, by the way, you do things to my body I didn't know that I was starving till I tasted you
“I really did good on this one?” you asked, still unsure of yourself. Dean had been working hard this week, and you thought it was a good idea to make him his favorite kind of pie.
“How about you taste it?” he asked after taking another forkful.
“I’m not really a pie person. I made this for you.”
“Come here and taste it,” he whispered, leaving some on the tip of his upper lip. Getting the vibe he was putting down, you leaned across the table and latched your lips onto his. The sweet cherry filling that was sitting on his lips was swallowed by you, but you didn’t pull away. The pie had a good taste, and the pie mixed with Dean was a good taste, but raw Dean was the best taste you have ever experienced.
Tumblr media
“What are you doing?” he chuckled when your lips peppered the skin on his face. The night ended with you two snuggling in bed. It’s been an emotional month, to say the least, so it was nice to relax in bed with nothing and no one to worry about.
“I will kiss all your freckles,” you grinned, laying down light kisses on each freckle you saw. Dean grinned, but he grabbed your waist and lightly shoved you off him so he could look into your eyes.
“I don’t know where I would be if you weren't in my life,” he admitted.
“You would be left with a lot fewer kisses,” you joked.
“I’m serious. I don’t know what I would do without you,” he whispered, leaning in to kiss you properly.
If there was one thing you knew for certain, it’s that you didn’t know you were starving until you tasted him.

Super Man Flu
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

A/N: Sorry I have been so quiet - I have been out with a cold of my own. So aside from work, I have been hiding in bed,
This is also written for @hellaqueerangelofthelord as part of my 1-year anniversary celebration. Sorry, I am so slow but they are all coming I promise!

You and Bucky had been married for close to a year. You had dated for five years before that and been dancing around each other a couple of years before you worked up the nerve to ask him out. You worked for Tony Stark, developing tech for the Avengers, so you were no stranger to the injuries that were inflicted onto them (or sometimes clumsily self-inflicted in Clint and Bucky’s cases).
You didn’t like seeing any of the Avengers returning home hurt, least of all Bucky but a part of you were also getting used to it. Or so you thought.
Bucky was resilient, partly due to the super serum and partly just do to his personality. He had gotten his arm blown off more than once. He had gotten shot, stabbed, fallen off buildings and nosedived off motorbikes. You knew none of it came close to what he had to endure during his seventy-year long HYDRA captivity, but you were still baffled by his strength.
He was as impressed by your strength as you were his. Avenging wasn’t your life. You weren’t a superhero, a soldier, or even a doctor or nurse. You were a scientist and working for Stark had somehow gotten you pulled into this crazy life. You never flinched or wavered. You pushed through and did what needed to be done. You cared for Bucky when he needed it and you gave him space when the demons in his head reared their ugly heads. He always returned to you. You knew that and trusted him to find his own way through the darkness that sometimes still clouded his thoughts.
You were his guiding light, even if you didn’t know it. You were everything good and pure to him and he loved you with every beat of his heart. There was nothing he couldn’t pull through as long as it meant getting back home to you. Or so he thought.
Bucky had been gone on a mission for a few days. Even if you were used to being on your own for stretches of time, the apartment still felt empty without him. It had been easier when you were living in the Avengers Tower together. There was always someone around or something going on to distract you from the fact that Bucky wasn’t home.
It had been a little over a year now since you moved out on your own though. Bucky craved normalcy and you were happy to offer it to him in whatever small way you could.
You loved living away from the Tower with Bucky when he was home. It was yours and his. It was his fresh start and the beginning of your life together. Bucky knew you felt lonely and restless sometimes when he wasn’t at home, which was the reason he had brought home an adorable white kitten one day.
Alpine was Bucky’s cat more than he was yours. The little furball followed him everywhere, trustingly nuzzling up to the super soldier whenever he sat down to rest somewhere. Whenever Bucky was home Alpine was never far behind.
When Bucky wasn’t home, however, the little guy stuck to you like glue. Somehow he knew exactly what was needed from him when and he was happy to offer his company an affection in whatever way he could.
Today you were jittery. Steve had called earlier letting you know the Avengers had arrived back on earth in one piece. There had been something in his tone of voice though that had put you on edge and the fact that he had told you he would be bringing Bucky around in a few hours hadn’t helped one bit. It wasn’t like Steve to transport Bucky around. No matter how hurt or injured he had been in the past, your husband was stubborn enough to get on his bike and get himself back home to you. You had scolded him for that more than once, but you also knew the man well enough to know it wasn’t your telling off that had gotten him to reconsider.
Alpine was laying in your lap form which he hadn’t moved since you got the call. He sensed something was up, just as well as you did and the cat knew you needed him. You absentmindedly stroked his fur, as you worried about Bucky. You hadn’t even been aware of the time passing so when the doorbell rang you jumped along with the cat in your lap. He made a disgruntled sound before making a beeline for the door with you close on his heels.
“Sorry Al,” you muttered, picking him up so he wouldn’t escape the apartment causing him to meow in protest as you opened the door.
You weren’t sure what you had expected but the sight that met you weren’t it for sure. Bucky’s arm was slung over a rather annoyed looking Steve’s shoulder. Bucky was pale except for a bright red running nose and bloodshot eyes. He coughed pathetically, making Steve turn his face away from him with a grumble.
“Cover your mouth,” Steve scolded as you stepped aside letting Steve drag Bucky inside.
You didn’t say a word. You just looked at the two super soldiers staggering through your apartment, opening and closing your mouth like a fish out of water and completely lost for words. It wasn’t until Alpine meowed loudly and started wiggling to be let down that you were shaken back to reality.
You quickly closed the door and released the cat before following the men into your living room, where Steve unceremoniously dropped Bucky onto the couch.
“Hey,” Bucky whined, “I’m sick. Not so rough.”
Steve rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest, glaring at Bucky. “It’s a cold. I’ve had worse. Way worse. So have you.”
“I’d rather it was a bullet hole. Or ten,” Bucky grumbled, curling up on the couch petting Alpine who had jumped up next to him.
“Would either of you care to explain this? I thought super soldiers couldn’t get sick?” you asked, looking from one man to the other and Steve sighed loudly.
“Don’t piss off a demigod,” Bucky grumbled, only adding to your confusion as you blinked, looking from your husband back to his best friend.
“Thor did that?” you asked, not sure how to wrap your mind around that. Short of making a small thundercloud follow Bucky around for the past couple of days, you weren’t sure how that could have even happened. And it didn’t sound like Thor anyway. He didn’t hold a grudge. He had a temper sure, but that just got people punched.
“Loki,” Steve answered your question, making you sigh. That made a lot more sense. “He was helping us on this mission and Bucky and Sam kept messing with him. Not their brightest moment,” Steve glared at Bucky who in returned looked as if he was ready to kill Steve, but just too tired to move.
“And Sam?” you asked, sitting down next to Bucky, putting a hand on his forehead to check if he had a temperature. It was hard to tell since Bucky always ran hotter than most people.
“Is at home in the Tower pissing off Nat and Tony with his whining, I assume,” Steve sighed. “I talked to Thor. It’s nothing to worry about. He got Loki to admit they’ll both be fine within a few days…”
“No, I won’t. I’m dying,” Bucky whined and you had to bite your cheek not to laugh. You had to admit a sick Bucky was kinda adorable, even if Steve clearly didn’t feel the same way.
“Oh no. It wouldn’t be the same without you,” Steve sassed his best friend, who flung a pillow at the blond man’s face. Steve chuckled and dug out of the way in time and the pillow crashed against the wall instead.
“I survived pneumonia while having asthma and bronchitis in a leaky apartment during the winter of 1929. You’ll live,” Steve chuckled before looking at you. “I’m really sorry to leave you alone with him but I got a few reports to write up.”
“Right here,” Bucky grumbled, wrapping his arms around your waist and burying his face in your lap. “I’m right here, Steve.”
Neither you or Steve could hold back your laughter, and you could practically feel Bucky pout against your stomach as he pulled you closer.
“Go. I got this,” you giggled, waving Steve away with one hand and running your fingers through Bucky’s hair with the other.
Steve nodded and gave Bucky’s calf a friendly slap before heading for the door. “See ya later pal. Don’t be too hard on your poor wife.”
“Punk,” Bucky grumbled against your stomach, making your smile widen as you head Steve yell back from the hallway before the door closed behind him.
“Jerk!”
“What do you say I make you some pancakes,” you asked Bucky, smiling when he looked up at you with huge blue puppy dog eyes.
“Chocolate chips?” he asked, making you laugh as you brushed his long, unruly locks out of his face and cupping his cheeks.
“Of course,” you smiled, shaking your head slightly as Bucky lowered his head back into your lap and held you impossibly tighter.
“Yes, please.”
“Darlin’ you’re gonna have to let me go then,” you laughed, causing a whine to leave Bucky as he clung to you even harder when you tried to move. You sighed, rolling your eyes at the giant manchild in your lap. It was going to be a long few days.

I’m on a roll tonight.
This ones a follow up to my This Is For Your Own Good one, and its for lost their voice from screaming and hand holding!!!! let’s go!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rhys might have been staying in their backyard, but he didn’t really expect any of the Fox family to actually come and visit him. Especially not the one who was supposed to be resting so he could heal properly.
And yet, there he was, being woken up by Ayden climbing into the treehouse.
“Sorry I woke you,” his voice was weak, hoarse—yet it still sent butterflies through Rhys’ stomach, “figured we should probably talk.”
The butterflies dropped, the weakness of his voice suddenly a reminder of what had happened.
Of how it had been his fault.
“Right. Of course,” he said, smiling at Ayden to cover up the uneasiness he felt. Oh god, this was it, wasn’t it?
Ayden sat down beside him, taking his hand and sighing before he spoke, “I know you think it was your fault.”
Rhys’ head snapped over to him, gaping.
“We’ve been dating for almost a year, Rhys. I like to think I can read you pretty well.”
His laugh made Rhys flush and avoid his eyes. Ayden just took his other hand as well, smiling at him. The guilt made itself home in his brain, and he had to get it out before it spilled.
"Ayden?" He said, internally cursing how his voice shook.
When his boyfriend tilted his head at him, he sighed. And, looking at the ground so he didn't have to meet Ayden's eyes, he mumbled an apology.
"I'm sorry. About everything."
He didn't know what he expected to happen next.
Maybe some part of his mind, the ugly part that held all his insecurities—and, when it was especially loud, sounded a bit like his mother—thought Ayden wouldn't accept the apology. But he supposed deep down, he knew Ayden didn't blame him.
Because Ayden was one of the very few people in his life who never blamed him for his mother's actions.
There had always been something liberating about having someone judge you purely on your own actions, not the actions of your parent.
But, then again, he supposed he had always done the same thing.
Sure, it was very different, but he'd always treated Ayden like his own person, not like an extension of his father.
So really, he shouldn't have been shocked when Ayden just squeezed his hands.
"You don't have anything to be sorry for," he said, voice still quiet. Rhys ached as he remembered his boyfriend’s screams, "You told me from the very beginning how dangerous your mother is. I stayed with you anyway. Do you know why?"
Rhys shook his head-after all, he didn't, not really. He never had.
"Because I love you."
He had been trying desperately not to cry. but Ayden's words made tears begin to well up in his eyes.
"Ayden-" He started, only to be cut off,
"I love you so much, Rhys Lynch. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you. Because in my eyes, you're the most beautiful person I've ever met. Inside and out."
And then Rhys broke. A sob bubbled up in his throat as he lifted their hands to his face.
With all the gentleness he could manage, he pressed a kiss to the top of Ayden’s hand before looking up to see him staring with complete adoration and a touch of concern.
“I love you, too. More than you could ever possibly know.”
A smile made its way onto Ayden’s face as he pulled Rhys close to him, kissing him with the gentle ferocity that he’d always had.
It wasn’t perfect. There were still things to worry about—Rhys’ mother and Ayden’s father, mainly—but they were together. At the end of the day that was all they needed. And as Ayden held his hand? Rhys felt like he could face anything that he needed to.

You’ve got a friend in me.
Pairing: Dean Winchester / Castiel
Warnings: too much fluff / Dean being vulnerable / John Winchester being abusive
Word Count: 3.554
Square Filled: Plushie
Summary: When Castiel goes into Dean’s room he finds something very confusing and when he asks Dean about it, the hunter seems to be angry and embarrassed. So Castiel makes it his mission, to show Dean, that it’s okay to be vulnerable, too.
A/N: So yeah. Confession time :D I have some plushies as well, even though I’m already 26, so screw people who say that is only for babies. I really liked this prompt @goodthingshappenbingo! :)

_______________________________________________________________________
Dean comes back into his room and slowly sits down on his bed. He feels awful, no, horrible even. They had found the werewolf, but just as Dean had opened the door to the barn, he had killed the poor girl.
Dean squeezes his eyes shut.
“Great even more nightmares.” Dean mumbles and then wipes over his face. He was already showering, but he still feels dirty everywhere. The poor girl was still so young and he really had wanted to get the damn thing before he could hurt her.
The worst was when they had to come back and had to tell the parents about it. The mother had cried so badly and Dean still feels the lump in his throat. In nights like this he feels more lonely than ever, even though he is not really alone. Just then it knocks on his door.
“It’s open.” Dean says loudly and then sighs. He isn’t really in the mood to talk about the hunt, he just wants to curl up in his bed. Maybe… be held. Dean shakes his head and sees that it’s Sam, who is coming in.
“Hey, I will head to bed now, you okay?” Sam asks and while he looks mostly just tired and exhausted, Dean can see that he is pretty worried as well. That would never stop. They both are always worried about each other.
“Yeah, sure.” Dean mumbles and he can see that Sam doesn’t really believe him. Well, he wouldn’t even believe himself, but that’s what John had taught him. Never show any weaknesses. That will make you an easy target.
While he should be able to be vulnerable around Sam, his brother, he always finds himself tongue tied. Not that Sam is doing any better himself, they are both pretty bad at it. But there was a time, when Dean was still a kid, where he had always cuddled with Sammy and told him about everything. Those times were simpler. Happier.
John made sure to destroy that, too.
“If you need me, I’m in my room.” Sam says, when Dean looks down at his hands, where the blood from the young girl was hours ago. He nods at his brother and hopes that Sam just leaves. When the door falls shut, Dean lays back on his bed.
He isn’t sure how long he is laying there like this, still fully clothed and feet still on the ground. Dean can’t stop thinking, so he gets up again so he can at least undress. He craves some kind of comfort, so he picks out some warm sweatpants with a dark shirt.
This time he even lays under his covers and already feels a bit better. He turns to his right side and looks at the pictures on his nightstand. There is one with his mother and little Sammy, it’s Dean’s favorite. Then one that just shows him and Sam from a few years ago and another one with his whole family. Bobby, Ellen, Jo, and also Castiel.
Dean smiles a bit and looks at the last picture. This one shows him and Castiel in their cowboy outfits. Dean chuckles, already feeling a bit better.
Just before Dean closes his eyes, he sits up a bit again and leans over the edge of the bed to open the bottom drawer of his nightstand. There is a huge box in it and Dean opens it, his fingers shaking.
There are even more pictures in his box, the necklace Sam bought him when they were kids, a ring his mother always wore, and… a soft Lion plushie. It’s not a really big one, but it’s clearly old. One of the button eyes is already missing, but Dean takes him out anyway.
He feels himself blushing, when he puts the Lion into bed with him. He closes his eyes, one hand curled around the lion and sighs. Still as soft and comforting as he was the first time he had gotten him.
Dean is still ashamed, but nuzzles his face into it anyway.
*
“What is that?” John asks, when they are in the mall. Dean is next to the cart and holds up a stuffed lion, that is as big as his head. He had seen the lion a lot over the last days and today he finally tried to be brave and ask his father for it.
“A l-lion.” Dean says and wiggles it a bit in his hands. John rolls his eyes and just pushes the cart forward, where Sammy is running around, trying to get some package of cookies.
“Obviously, but what do you want with it? Dean you are almost six now, don’t you think you are a bit old for toys?” John says and he sounds more exhausted than angry. Dean swallows and stops walking besides his father. He looks sadly down at his lion.
“But Daddy maybe…” Dean starts, but John doesn’t even turn around. He justs picks up Sam and puts his son back into the cart. Sammy whines, until John gives him the package of cookies as well and Sam happily rips them open, which makes John groans.
“Dean I said no and maybe stop calling me that, too. You aren’t a baby like Sammy.” John says and Dean tries to swallow down his tears. He nods, but John doesn’t even look at him, already walking down the next aisle.
Dean stands there for a few minutes, just holding the soft lion. Normally he doesn’t want any toys, he knows Sam is still small and needs some, but this time he wants to be selfish. Wants to have his own plushie to sleep with. Sam always gets pretty annoyed when Dean steals his bear.
“Hey little man, can I help you?”
Dean looks up to a nice looking man. He has dark hair and pretty blue eyes. Dean feels himself blush, because here he is tearing up over a stuffed animal. The man kneels down to him and smiles.
“Is that your lion?” He asks and Dean shakes his head.
“N-no. I don’t have money and Dad says I’m too old anyway. D-do you want him?” Dean holds the lion up, because maybe the nice man has a kid, who would be very happy with a lion. Dean at least would be happy with it.
“No, but how about I get him for you?” The man says and Dean’s eyes widen. Maybe this is a trick and this is actually a demon, who will steal Dean away. The man seems to realise, how afraid Dean is and just holds up a bit of money.
“For me?” Dean whispers and takes the bucks, even though he knows that is bad. He is not supposed to spend money on useless stuff, but the stranger said he could take it. Dean’s lower lip trembles.
“Sure bud. Every man should have a best friend who will protect him.” The man says and he ruffles Dean’s hair before he gets up again and already turns away. Dean is speechless, since the lion is actually five whole bucks and the man just gave him that.
“Wait!” Dean says loudly and when the stranger turns to him, Dean hugs his leg as hard as he can. This time he does cry a bit, but he hides his tears well and doesn’t make a single sound. The man ruffles his hair again.
“Thank you. I will call him Leo.” Dean whispers and then rubs over his eyes. The man smiles at him once more, before he walks away. Dean can’t believe something like this actually happened, but the bucks in his hands feel very real.
“That is a wonderful name.” The stranger says and rounds the next corner. Dean stands there for a moment and just watches him.
Dean makes sure his father doesn’t seem him, while he pays for the lion. He even asks for a small bag and puts his lion in there. He smiles so widely, when he looks into the big and the big button eyes stare back at him.
“It’s okay Leo. I will protect you from Daddy.” Dean whispers as if it is a secret and then he closes the bag. He waits outside the store and pushed the bag under his jacket, that is a bit too big anyway.
John gets out of the shop just a few minutes later, looking more stressed about his groceries, than Dean being missing. Dean just toddles behind him, listening to John talking to Sam. Seems like he didn’t even realize, that Dean was gone.
For the first time, Dean doesn’t really care about that though. He just puts the bag to his feet in the impala. Peeking into the bag every few minutes.
He would take good care of his lion.
*
Dean feels a bit better the next morning, but he forgets all about his lion. Dean doesn’t even remember getting him out of the box. Instead he just gets up and meets his brother and Castiel for breakfast.
“So get this, I found another case, similar to the one from yesterday. It’s only two towns away.” Sam explains during his slurping around his smoothie. Dean doesn’t feel like hunting today, but knows it’s their job anyway.
“Let me just get ready. Meet you outside in 30 minutes.” Dean says after he finishes his second plate of bacon. Castiel frowns at him, but when Dean looks back, Castiel just gets up and leaves the table. Sam raises his eyebrows and Dean shrugs. Sometimes the angel is weird.
Dean washes his and Sammy’s plate, before he walks back to his room. His stomach clenches at the thought of another hunt so soon. Lately he feels way too tired for their job, but he knows nobody else would do it.
And hell, he doesn’t even want to think about what his father would say, if he could read Dean’s thought. Then again, John would probably find a lot of other things he would hate about Dean.
Just when Dean walks into his room, he sees that Castiel is already waiting there for him. The angel is standing in the middle of the room, arms behind is back and he scowls a bit at Dean, who rolls his eyes.
“How can I help you Cas?” Dean says, while he opens his drawers to search for a few clean clothes for their hunt. Sure the angel doesn’t have problems like this, he just wears what he always does.
“I feel like you should take a break. The hunt yesterday was pretty bad and you could call a few hunters, to cover this one.” Castiel says and even the angel sounds a bit tired, Dean stops and turns back to him.
“You know I can’t do that.” Dean says and Castiel shakes his head. Dean already feels annoyed by this conversation and he feels a headache coming up.
“Of course you can, Dean. I see how exhausted you are, I know that you need a few days to recover and I don’t even mean the wound you have on your left thigh that you are trying to hide.” Castiel says and Dean blushes under the angel’s gaze. Dang, he had thought that nobody would find out that the werewolf got him.
“But, it’s my job to save people.” Dean says and he has to look down when he sees the sympathy in Castiel’s eyes. Even though Dean is actually aware of his feelings for the angel, he would never act on them, but when Castiel looks at him like that, he feels tempted.
“And it’s my job to look after you. A job that I adore.” Castiel says, sounding so honest and even a bit vulnerable. Dean shrugs awkwardly, since he doesn’t really know what to answer to that. Castiel smiles and Dean nods.
“Maybe we… can call somebody.” Dean whispers and Castiel’s smile only grows a bit wider. Dean yawns behind his hand and nods to himself. Maybe he could go back to sleep and try to forget about all of this.
“My father…” Dean starts anyway, and even though John is dead for over ten years by now, his ghost still haunts Dean’s thoughts. More than any monster ever could. Castiel huffs annoyed.
“Your father was a lot, Dean, but mostly a huge assbut.” Castiel says and Dean snorts at that. Castiel had never met John, but apparently he still has a very bad opinion about him. Dean knows that he is right, but he, of course, tries to meet John’s expectations, even though he knows he will never reach them.
“It’s okay to rest Dean. Get comfortable and just take care of yourself first.” Castiel says, Dean actually listens for once and sits down on the bed. Castiel looks so proud of himself, while he texts Sam, that they all need a break.
Dean gets back under his blanket and closes his eyes, his headache getting worse and he is glad that he doesn’t have to leave the bunker today. Castiel’s phone beeps and then the bed dips besides Dean.
“Sleep well.” Castiel whispers and presses something in Dean’s arms. It’s soft and warm and Dean opens his eyes again.
“What the fuck!” Dean says loudly, when he sees that it’s his lion that he forgot this morning. Dean’s whole face is on fire, as he throws the lion out of his arms to the ground. He winces inwardly.
“Dean?” Castiel asks, a bit afraid at Dean’s tantrum.
“Put that away.” Dean says angrily, but Castiel doesn’t seem to understand what Dean is talking about. He even picks the lion up again.
“But isn’t he yours?” Castiel asks, still very confused and he even tilts his head. Dean is sure that he was never more ashamed in his whole life. There is a freaking angel and also the man he has feelings for, holding his stuffed animal in his arms.
Dean does what he has to.
“I’m not a baby, I don’t need this!” Dean says angrily and turns away from Castiel, facing the wall instead. Castiel sighs loudly and then it’s too quiet in the room. When Dean looks back he sees that Castiel and his lion are gone.
Dean doesn’t know what’s worse.
*
Castiel is gone for two weeks and Dean is sure that he is going crazy at this point. Sam isn’t even looking for new hunts, since he seems to sense how stressed out Dean is feeling. Or maybe he knows, because Dean snaps at him a lot.
It’s just that Dean feels really bad. He didn’t want to hurt Castiel, and while he isn’t sure how exactly he hurt the angel, he knows that he had done it. Dean tried to pray at lot in the last days and now he is totally not pouting in their kitchen.
“Okay enough of that. You and me, we will go out.” Sam says, when he enters the kitchen. Dean huffs, but since he doesn’t want to mope around another day in his bunker, he agrees.
Even though Dean is the one who drives, Sam gives him the directions. Dean expects a nice burger joint or anything, but he doesn’t expect this. A freaking county fair. Dean stops, while Sam walks through the entrance.
“What?” Sam asks and Dean shakes his head.
“Dude this is for kids.” Dean says and he crosses his arms. He can already smell the good food there and hear people laughing from the rides and of course he wants to visit this, but… he doesn’t belong here. He doesn’t deserve this.
“Who told you that?” Sam asks and Dean rolls his eyes. As if his brother doesn’t know what he is talking about. Dean feels already bad enough about his plushie, he doesn’t need another reminder what he wasn’t allowed to have as a kid.
“Can we leave now?” Dean mumbles and wants to go back to Baby. Sam shakes his head and then holds his hands out.
“Yeah, I will leave, but you will stay here and for fuck’s sake, enjoy yourself.” Sam says and he grabs the keys out of Dean’s hand, who is even more confused now. Surely Sam wouldn’t really leave him here alone? Baby’s loud engine tells him otherwise, because Sam is actually driving away. What the fuck?
“Dean?”
Dean looks back to the entrance and yeah that wasn’t just his wishful thinking. Castiel is really standing there, looking still a bit mad, but there is also a tiny smile on his face. This time Dean steps through the entrance without thinking.
“What are you doing here?” Dean asks softly, but Castiel just shakes his head and hushes him. He holds his hand out and Dean knows what he has to do, so he takes Castiel’s hand in his and promptly blushes.
He is holding Castiel’s hand.
Dean knows that this is his chance. He wants to show Castiel that he can be the man Castiel always sees in him. So he just tries to relax and even though some people are looking weird at them, Dean never lets go of Castiel’s hand.
“It’s okay, Dean.” Castiel whispers, when he feels Dean tense a bit. Dean nods at him and then presses a shy kiss to Castiel’s cheek. Castiel is grinning after that and Dean feels so much better himself too.
They spend their fare share of time around the fair and Dean has to admit he has a lot of fun and even the food is great. He actually shares his candyfloss with Castiel and he quietly wishes he had done this way sooner. They even do some rides that are only for kids. Dean loves it.
“This is really awesome, Cas. Thank you.” Dean says happily and this time Castiel shuts him up with a real kiss. Dean is a bit surprised, but kisses back without thinking about it. He really likes Castiel and his father wouldn’t destroy that.
No he would stand up for himself now. With Castiel’s help.
“Finally.” Castiel whispers after they break the kiss and Dean nods. He is blushing again, but that doesn’t matter, because he finally kissed Castiel. He even licks over his lips again, just to taste Castiel again.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to understand.” Dean says and Castiel nods, he looks understanding and Dean kisses him again. Just a very short kiss and he can hear some teenagers laughing, but he doesn’t care.
“I just want you to know you can be vulnerable sometimes. Your feelings are important and you are always allowed to show them around me.” Castiel says and Dean thinks he can finally admit that Castiel is right.
“I just… feel weak.” Dean whispers but Castiel shakes his head.
“You aren’t weak, Dean. You never were.” Castiel says and Dean doesn’t know what to say. He knows that Castiel would never lie to him. Just as Dean glances up again, he can see a booth where you can win stuffed animals and points at it.
“You want a game?” Dean grins and even though his stomach clenches again, he could do this. Castiel said it’s okay. Only this time Castiel shakes his head, Dean’s heart falls in his stomach.
“I think you already have the perfect one.” Castiel says and out of nowhere he pulls Dean’s lion out of his coat. Dean makes a very embarrassing noise, but takes him anyway when Castiel holds him out.
“Leo.” Dean whispers and Castiel grins.
“That is a wonderful name.” Castiel says and Dean gasps. He remembers now why the stranger looked so familiar. It was… Cas.
“You gave him to me?” Dean says and Castiel nods. He actually seems a bit ashamed, but Dean just hugs him even more. He doesn’t understand how he could’ve never thought of that, but now he clearly sees Castiel giving it to him.
“As your mother said Dean, angels always watched over you and… if you want I will forever do that.” Castiel whispers and Dean tries to blink his tears away, as he nods. He takes Castiel’s hand again and just leans against him.
For the first time ever he feels free.
*
“Where is Dean?” Sam asks days later, when they are spending a lazy sunday in the bunker. Just yesterday they had found a new married couple ripped apart by some vampires and Dean hadn’t taken it very well.
“Resting.” Castiel answers and when Sam rounds the couch he has to smile. He is glad Dean is being a lot more open with his feelings, after he and Cas went out on their first date. Even around Sam, Dean doesn’t pretend to be strong, if he isn’t feeling it.
Dean is laying with his head in Castiel’s lap, fast asleep and a stuffed lion in his hands. His cheek is pressed against the animal and Sam chuckles. He had seen Dean a lot with it as a kid, but only when John wasn’t there.
Castiel carefully strokes Dean’s hair and Dean quietly says something in his sleep that nobody understands. Sam has seen Dean sleeping a lot of times in his life. Mostly he sleeps restless, worried or even screaming from nightmares.
Right now?
He just looks happy and loved. As it should be.
