Gotham daemon au (part 6?) (surprisingly literal edition)

Carmine Falcone's daemon is a sooty falcon. I'll admit that I haven't rewatched season 1 in a long time, so there might be things I'm forgetting about his character, but the main thing I remember is that he was a genuinely well-respected mob boss, so much so that Zsasz was still loyal to him three years after Falcone's retirement. Sooty falcons, unlike some other birds of prey, live in colonies and often hunt in groups; in other words, they are social animals, which reflects Falcone's personality in that regard. And, well, it matches his name.

Fish Mooney's daemon is a Siamese Fighting Fish, more commonly known as a Betta Fish. They're beautiful, flashy, and very prone to aggression. They're also more intelligent than you might expect. A fish, especially one this size, might not seem intimidating when compared to the daemons of other villains... but Fish and her daemon can and will fight to the death to increase their position in the pecking order. Also, it gives an actual explanation for the nickname "Fish."

Liza's daemon is a stag beetle. They're small and not overtly threatening, allowing Liza to go undercover with Falcone without too much suspicion, but are still odd enough to hint at her darker nature. According to Wiki, there also used to be a superstition that stag beetles were sent by the devil to do harm to crops, which has some fun parallels with Liza being sent by a greater evil (Fish) to do her bidding.

DickTim Week Day 3: Vampire King Dick/Daemons AU

I really liked these two prompts together for this one.

rating mature (fade to black scene at the end), 1484 words, mentions of character deaths, nothing too graphic I don't think?, mentions of blood. @dicktimweek

Tim looked out at the city and sighed. Daylight would last around another thirty minutes and the Metropolis refugees were starting to get home and hide. It wasn’t safe to do much at night other than keep a lookout in the compound. Not since… not since Clark was taken…

Kon was helping a few civilians and Tim watched Bart zipping by to get more supplies. Luckily this area of the city was still connected to the power grid and so they had refrigeration and hot water. Tim was working on something that would keep the power on even when they were cut off from the grid. He looked across the bay at the dark clouds over Gotham. He couldn’t see him, but somehow Tim knew that Dick was standing there watching him. 

Tim stepped up to the edge of the rooftop and pulled out his grapple. “Kon, catch me.” He dove off the building as the stars started to shine in the water. 

He fell for a while and then felt Kon’s TTK catch him right before he hit the water gently lowering him into his arms. “You gotta give me better warning Rob.” 

“You caught me.” Tim kept his eyes on the Gotham shore and saw the shadow that was probably Dick. “I have to go.” 

“Tim, it’s a bad idea.” Kon tightened his hold on him as though that would keep Tim in his arms longer. 

Tim nodded. “We’ve talked about it. Bart can finish up what I’m doing, and he promised your safety if I give myself up to him.” 

“He’s killed every other Robin that’s set foot in Gotham. The only reason all the Batgirls aren’t dead is because Cass literally gave her last drop of blood to get Steph out. Why would you go to your death?” Bart asked when Kon landed on the Metropolis shore. 

“You guys don’t get it, I’m stronger than Dick. I’ll live.” Tim gave them a smile. “It’s been a while since I’ve spread my wings, and he needs an adversary that will actually be a challenge.” 

“Isn’t that what big blue said before Dick ripped his throat out?” Steph’s voice came from behind him and Tim turned around to see her standing there in Cass’s backup suit. 

“I didn’t know you were up.” Tim walked over to her and pulled her into a hug.

“I’m a little stiff, but nothing was broken. Doc said I could go whenever, I was just taking up a bed at that point so I came to find you.” She squeezed him tighter. “What’s your real plan, boyfriend?” 

Tim smiled. “Remember when we were dating and I said that I wanted to take things slow?” 

“And I laughed before realizing you were serious and not just trying to get into my pants? Yeah, I remember.” She smirked. “What’s your point?” 

“There’s something that you guys don’t know about me.” Tim took a few steps back and then started unclasping his cape from his shoulders. “Dick knows because he read my file before Bruce encrypted this part away from the main thing.” 

“What are you talking about?” Kon asked as he took a step closer to Steph. 

Bart tilted his head and Tim saw the moment that the speedster figured out what he was talking about. “Wait! That’s still true!?” 

“What’s still true?” Steph asked, looking between them. 

“This.” Tim closed his eyes and let his transformation overcome him. He felt his wings settle back onto this plane of existence and adjusted his balance to the balls of his feet to compensate for their weight. He rolled his shoulders and then flicked his spade-tipped tail out to wrap around Steph’s wrist to stop the Batarang she was about to throw. “Not a vampire, don’t waste the deadman’s blood.” 

“W-what are you?” Kon asked. 

Tim gestured to himself. “I’m a demon. A succubus to be specific.” 

“Holy shit, boyfriend, when were you planning on telling someone?” Steph asked as she gently unwrapped his tail from her wrist. 

Tim bowed his head in shame. “If Dick hadn’t gotten bitten and taken over the eastern seaboard I probably never would have. Bruce treated it like my parents did, on a need-to-know basis.” 

“Wait, was your dad…” Kon started to ask. 

Tim shook his head. “Nope! Turns out demon bitch wasn’t just a derogatory term for my mother by the other board members. She quite literally was a daemon from hell. I have more in common with Raven than she ever seems to acknowledge.” 

Kon nodded and then looked across the water. “He’s not gonna stop until you go there is he?” 

Tim shook his head. “He offered a deal that you guys stay safe, so keep finding refugees, get as far away from here as you can. The tower isn’t safe until you and Bart have locked out every single hero who isn’t standing right here, so don’t go there.” 

Steph walked forward and pulled him into a hug. Holding his head against her shoulder and carefully holding her other arm under his wings. “Don’t die, and don’t become one of them, okay?” 

Tim hugged her back and nodded. “No promises in times of world-ending chaos.” 

Bart zipped over and got in on the hug. “You always say that.” 

Tim felt Kon carefully pull all three of them into his arms. “He’s right.”

Tim had shed his suit back at the apartment that he and the team had been living in. Opting instead for a pair of boxers and nothing else. Why hide himself? He was flying into the nest after all. He let his wings stretch and then took off toward the manor. Dick’s invitation had made it clear that he expected Tim to use the front door. 

He landed just inside the gates and then started walking up toward the front of the manor. Tim wasn’t sure who he would see, but couldn’t help the pang in his chest when he saw Jason’s bike still propped up in the front drive. Damian had been on that bike the last time Tim saw him alive. Jason had shoved the keys into Damian’s hands before Dick shot him through the skull. His last act was to get the younger Robins safe. Tim watched Damian drive off into the night, and the next time he saw him, his head was detached from his body. 

Tim knocked on the front door and it slowly opened. He looked inside to see who opened it and saw Roy’s glazed eyes. “The master of the house has been waiting on you,” he said calmly. 

“Take me to him.” Tim requested. 

He led the way through the house and to Dick’s bedroom. Tim laughed and waved him off. “Thank you.” 

Tim knocked once before getting an answer. “Enter.” 

He walked into the room and saw Dick lounging on the small couch in front of the fireplace. There was a fire going, and the lighting made Dick look so much spookier than he really was, though maybe it was the red eyes doing that. 

“My friends think you’re going to try to kill me,” Tim said as he sauntered over to the couch, using every bit of demonic gratefulness he had. 

“Your friends never know what I’m planning.” Dick reached out and grabbed Tim’s wrist to pull him down into the Vampire King’s lap. “What do you think I’m going to do?” 

Tim adjusted so that he was straddling Dick’s legs and carefully brought his hands up into the older man’s hair. “I think you want to play with fire, see how badly I can burn you.” 

Dick let out a breathy laugh and then reached up to grab Tim’s writs so that he could bring them down. Tim let him and sighed when Dick placed a kiss over one of his pulse points. “You smell so good, Timmy.” 

“What are you gonna do about it?” Tim asked, rolling his hips so that he ground their still-clothed erections against one another. 

Dick groaned and then released his hold on Tim’s wrists to grasp his hips. “What do you want, Babybird?” 

Tim leaned in so he could whisper into Dick’s ear. “I want you to take me to bed and ravish me, and once you’ve surrendered yourself to me, I want you to let my friends escape.” 

He ran his nose along Dick’s cheek and then kissed him deeply. Glad that neither of them needed to breathe anymore as he explored every crevice of Dick’s mouth, carefully running his forked tongue around his elongated incisors. Pulling away he smiled at Dick and kissed him once more, this time soft and chaste. “Does that sound agreeable to you?” 

Dick smiled and nodded. “Let them run, my new world could use some excitement.” He stood up, carrying Tim to the bed, and threw him in. “Starting right here.”

i think every fandom needs a pokemon au and daemon au bc i know who I am and what i’m about. but since i’m only writing those for jjk, here’s a dc verse that i was fckn around with

In the Region of Adalet the rising threat is Team Magus which is basically Darkseid and his bs that can be relevant or not depending when the plot happens. 

There’s the 8 gyms, elite four, and champion

Idk the order but:

Gotham: Dark, gym leader Bruce- main is crobat but first pokemon was a sableye that he found in the batcave while terrified of the bats.

Metropolis: normal, gym leader Clark Kent(okay i think i’m hilarious look at elite four)-main is his first pokemon Stoutland

Coast City: psychic(?), gym leader green lanterns (they take shifts so it’s always a mix bag when you go to challenge the gym. Sometimes more than one is there and they let you choose.) i’m still thinking on this  

Star City: Flying, gym leader Connor Hawke- main is Decidueye which fakes ppl out since it’s not even a flying type but hey :P Ollie used to be the gym leader and mained Talonflame (they were never gym leaders but Roy mained Braviary or Unfezant (a female one, he had since it was a wounded pidove), Cissie is Swellow, Emiko is Hawlucha, Dinah is Altaria, Mia is Staraptor) the gym doubles as an archery range. 

Central City: Electric, gym leader Barry, mains jolteon,but his family has been in charge of this gym for forever and can pick up shifts when necessary (Wally’s main is Zebstrika but first pokemon was elekid, Bart’s is pachirisu, Jay is Luxray, Wallace is Raichu). There’s cool snacks in this gym! It’s waiting roomesque bc the gym leader is always late.

Fawcett City: Fairy, gym leader Billy Batson, youngest gym leader mains Togetic, not to be underestimated and is the most likely to switch up his line up. 

Atlantis: water, gym leader Arthur Curry mains Empoleon. I won’t front I know the least about him so who knows. But the city is an island and the gym is in an underwater bubble.

Superman: steel, haha get it man of steel, mains Metagross

Wonder Woman: Ground, haha get it made from clay, mains Krookodile

Martian Manhunter: Fire, haha get it irony, mains Darmanitan

Talia Al Ghul: Dragon, i just like dragon types and Talia, mains Noivern

Alone in the tower with nothing to do, a rare occasion. Kon wanted to make the most of it, to catch up on a lifetime of sleepovers, shit-talk and too many snacks. He still wasn’t sure how he managed to rope Tim into hanging out. He was always busy these days. Always racing from one task to another. He always had a harried quality to him, but not he seemed to vibrate with the pressing need to be somewhere other than where he currently was.

But miracle of miracles: he'd agreed to stay behind and hang. Kon guessed it was a “push” from Gotham rather than a “pull” of his excellent company, but he didn’t mind. If there was trouble with the Bats then this was the best place for Tim: out of contact, far away and distracted .

Gotham daemon au (pt 2)

Jerome. Just, Jerome. What the hell would his daemon even be? I'm extremely tempted to say that she doesn't settle at all (because I read Effulgence at a formative age, and Jokers' daemons not settling is a pretty big part of that) but nah. This isn't Effulgence, and even if it was, Jerome is far enough away from that version of the Joker that I don't think the same rules apply.

As fun as a piranha would be, I can't imagine him with anything water-based. It has to be something reasonably sized (no insects or critters you can fit in your pocket) and scary, but not obviously evil in a way that would make the events of season 1 not make sense. With all that in mind, there is one perfect answer for the shape of Jerome's daemon: a yellow anaconda.

They're big (upwards of ten feet long!) and are specifically noted for having a reputation of being dangerous and unpredictable. And, bonus, they're nonvenomous and kill prey by constriction- which means I have the perfect opportunity to make Jeremiah's daemon a much smaller, perhaps less scary-looking, but incredibly venomous snake to match.

Jeremiah's would be a Guatemalan palm viper, because not only are they venomous but they're also a perfect shade of Joker green.

elouise owns and operates the funeral home   green marches   as a mortician + funeral director. most of her day   ( arguably, most of her life )   is spent at her business, taking care of the dead and their living every step of the way from arrival to burial, and even a little after. a part of what makes her business so exceptional is that she can speak to the deceased directly, able to see and hear their ghosts and spirits   ( among other creatures of the supernatural variety ).   with this gift, elouise does what she can to make sure every client that passes through her doors, living or otherwise, leaves or is buried satisfied.

still studying and working to own and open her own mortuary, elouise splits her time between school and work, gaining professional experience at whichever local funeral homes will employ her. on the side, though it doesn't make much way in money, elouise offers her supernatural abilities to those in need-   living or otherwise.

Sorry this is sooooo long

Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin): An Adelie Penguin named Ottoline. The name Ottoline sounds very upperclass and means prosperity, riches, and wealth. Okay, so obviously giving Oswald a penguin sounds like a lazy pick but I actually can’t think of anything that suits him more. Penguin was born with defects that made him look different from everyone else, he would have been ridiculed throughout his childhood and people probably wouldn’t expect him to be capable of much. Yet, he built a criminal empire in Gotham city. Penguins are loud, awkward, ungraceful and flightless but they are also highly specialized to not just survive but thrive in an extremely inhospitable environment. Also despite being built like a bowling pin, penguins are still some of the best dressed birds out there which is something I feel like Oswald does to compensate for the defects others would shame him for. Penguins are durable bastards who wear tuxedos and since daemons settle in the teen years I think Penguins persona would have been built around his daemons settling as he fully embraced the symbolism behind it.

Edward Nygma (Riddler): A Fennec Fox named Ataro. The name Ataro means puzzle or upside down and also sounds like the word Atari which is the name of a game console and also comes from the Japanese word for checkmate. Foxes are sly, cunning, charming, and intelligent tricksters. Which is exactly what Riddler is. I thought a Fennec Fox would be more suitable because they are small and social with these enormous ears and I just thought that was right. I know Riddler works alone most of the time but I also think he’s capable of being gossipy and Fennecs strike me as foxes incapable of keeping a secret which is a very riddler trait because he leaves riddles that often lead to his capture.

Jonathan Crane (Scarecrow): A Raven named Malvolia. Malvolia is the feminine version of Malvolio and it literally means “ill will”. A Raven not a Crow. Corvids are very intelligent birds that are also regarded death omens and are present in horror stories and myths around the world. They are very resourceful and also often portrayed as trickster spirits in fables. What else could crane be? I specify that Mal is a Raven because I honestly like the idea of Jon having this large corvid that can make sounds like a garbage disposal that people mistake for a crow.

Selina Kyle (Catwoman): A Black Devon Rex Cat named Rakesh. Selina is a name relating to the moon so I decided to give her daemon a name relating to the moon as well. Rakesh means “lord of the full moon”. Selina is playful, sneaky and narcissistic but too aloof to have a wild cat as a daemon which is why I decided Rakesh would be domestic. I wanted something that looked a lot like a Sphinx cat because they are very playful and like a lot of attention but I also wanted the breed I picked to have fur because I think Selina is somewhat vain and her daemon would reflect that. The Devon Rex has a personality and temperament similar to Sphinx cats but they also have a very short and wavy coat and I always think of Selina as the type to have a pixie cut so it just seemed fitting. Of course he would be a black cat.

Pamela Isley (Poison Ivy): A Tarantula Hawk Wasp named Viridius. Viridius is a name that derives from the Roman word veridis meaning Green. Viridius is also thought to be the name of a pagan god of ancient Roman Britain that in modern day times is called the Green Man. I imagine people with wasp daemons to be protective, defensive, hardworking and with high standards for themselves and others. Wasps are very protective and defensive of their hive in the same way Ivy is of her plants, wasps are devoted to their cause and have a vicious sting. I also assume they would have something slightly seductive about them because of the beauty stereotype of having a “wasp waist”. Tarantula Hawks have beautiful iridescent blue bodies and orange wings, they are non aggressive unless you mess with them first and have one of the worst stings of the animal kingdom with excruciating pain lasting up to 5 minutes. Daemons are just physical representations of the human soul so I don’t think typical sexual dimorphism is always the rule which is why I think that despite being male Veridius would have a stinger.

Harleen Quinzel (Harley Quinn): A Sparrow named Lysander. Lysander means “liberator” which in light of the progression of Harley’s character I found fitting. I also chose it because it sounds like it could be the name of a male love interest in a romance novel. Sparrows are songbirds that don’t look like much and are probably pretty common but they are also very empathetic and known for taking care of babies that aren’t their own as well as being very devoted to their loved ones. Harley is someone who studied to be a therapist out of a genuine desire to help others and was even capable of empathizing with the joker. She is also someone who is clearly driven by an obsessive love and devotion to the people she cares for. I also think that Harley is often underestimated and her having a sparrow would reflect that perfectly.

Joker: An Albino White Rat named Hilaria. Hilaria is a name of Greek origin that means cheerful. The name is derived from the same Latin root word as the English word hilarious. It was too good to pass up. Originally, I was going to give Joker a viper of some kind or maybe a spitting cobra as a reference to his acid spitting flower pin in the cartoons but daemons settle in adolescence and I think the joker was a very different person before his chemical bath. I think the original joker would have been intelligent and resourceful but also more meek and easily peer pressured. A prey animal as opposed to a snake. I think Hilaria would be an albino rat as a reference to lab rats and as a reference to the red eyes one of his cartoon designs had. Joker is unpredictable so I think it’s fitting that his daemon would be a prey animal when everyone is expecting a predator. Also, when rats are happy they do this thing where their eyes pop out a little like they’re a squeaky toy which is just perfect. Hilaria would be a particularly vicious rat though.

Jervis Tetch (Mad Hatter): A Jerboa named Darlene. Darlene means “darling” but in some sources the meaning is also “innocent child,” I also like the way it reminds me of the word Darjeeling which is a kind of tea. Intelligent but delusional and a bit of a coward a small rodent would fit him perfectly and the mad hatter was known for associating with the dormouse. However, I wanted something like a mouse but more whimsical, more fantasy like, so a Jerboa it was.

Harvey Dent (Two Face): A Black Backed Jackal named Eurydice. Eurydice was the tree nymph that married the famous musician Orpheus in Greek mythology. She died and her husband tried to rescue her from the underworld but looked back at the last second condemning her to remain a ghost. Her name means “wide justice”. Wild dogs are rebellious, loyal, protective and capable hunters all of which are traits I think Harvey exhibited while he was a DA. I picked a Jackal because of their association with Anubis which is the Egyptian god of the dead who presided over the embalming process and placed the heart of the deceased on one side of the scale and a feather on the other so that they could be judged by Osiris. This is similar to what a DA does before a judge. I picked the black backed jackal to follow the duality theme he has going on which I thought should definitely be reflected in his soul since he has DID.

Victor Fries (Mr.Freeze): A Polar Bear named Idonea. Idonea is a Norse name that means “again,” “to love,” and “to renew nature”. It is also the name a Norse goddess associated with eternal youth. Freeze is driven first and foremost by a need to cure and save his wife but he is also vengeful. Bears are known for being large, protective, vengeful and effective hunters. Polar bears are even known for hunting humans on occasion and are one the most massive land predators on earth. I think Polar bears would be slightly more domineering than other bears which I think is also fitting for Freeze. There’s also the fact that a polar bear matches his aesthetic to a t.

Eduardo Dorrance (Bane): A Jaguar named Tvora. Tvora literally means “to break,” or “to fracture”. I think people who settled with wild cats would be strong willed, driven, passionate, and powerful individuals. Jaguars are one of the strongest hunters in the world and they kill their prey by sinking their teeth directly into their targets skull. This method of killing is quick, brutal, and efficient in a way that I think translates well into Banes execution of his plans. Growing up in prison made it more likely for him to settle as something large.

Waylon Jones (Killer Croc): A Nile Crocodile named Jessamine. Jessamine means jasmine flower. Jasmine is known for its soothing properties and considering Crocs past I felt like his daemon should have a very non threatening southern belle kind of name. I also just like the idea of calling an enormous crocodile Jess. Another very obvious lazy looking pick but I think the crocodile symbolizes Waylon very well. In most of his stories he is portrayed as a sympathetic character mocked for a rare defect that makes him look like a crocodile, he is someone who can actually be very kind but is treated as a monster and behaves like one because of his cruel treatment. However, in some stories Croc is actually a very patient, cold and calculating gang leader. I think a crocodile is a median between both of these because while crocodiles can be aggressive and of course very patient and while people with reptile daemons are stereotypically cold, crocodiles are also just large lizards who want to be left alone and prefer not to have to fight anyone because they would rather be asleep, crocodiles just crave warmth. I think the symbolism of Waylon having a fuck off huge Nile crocodile with a name as sweet sounding as Jessamine is just perfect.

Victor Zsasz (Zsasz): A Warthog named Boudica. Boudica means victory and is the name of a 1st century Celtic warrior queen of the Icendi tribe who rebelled against the Romans. Okay, so I know Zsasz is a serial killer and everyone would probably expect a very aggressive animal but Zsasz doesn’t kill for malicious and wrathful reasons. Zsasz was a rich and sociable dude who gambled all his money away and adopted a depressive idea of nihilism where he thinks he needs to save everyone from the meaninglessness of life by killing them. This is someone who has the delusion he is helping people. Which is why I think he would settle as something naturally non aggressive but scary looking. Pigs are smart, stubborn, and don’t care what you think of them. Warthogs in particular are rather amiable and hardy herbivores that just look scary due to their long tusks. I think this is fitting because it’s symbolic of the way people would mistake Zsasz’s violence as intentionally malicious and sadistic but Zsasz truly believes he is being benevolent and merciful to the people he kills.
