The Story of Us
The Umbrella Acadmey- The Poison of an Oleander
Tumblr media
“Do you think he’ll like it?” You inquired, smiling dreamily at the thought of your father being happy with something you did.
“I dunno.” Poor Ben was struggling to stay upright as he tried to balance the heavy pot in his arms, nearly toppling over onto an expensive looking statue when turning a corner.
You and your brother had been leaving a mission the two of you had been sent out on when a plant store had caught your eye. Immediately, you had perked up and dragged Ben into the store, claiming that a plant would be a perfect gift for your father.
The boy wasn’t so certain, but one puppy-dog look from you and he- ever a good brother- had given in, sighing to himself before helping you pick out what you deemed to be the ‘perfect’ plant.
“Here should be good.” You told your brother, pointing to an open spot in the courtyard.
Ben grunted, setting the plant down before stretching out his sore arms.
“What’re you doing?” A voice asked from behind, making the two of you turn around.
You grinned at Diego, “We got dad a plant!”
His eyebrows furrowed, “Why?”
“Cause it’s a gift- duh.” You rolled your eyes slightly.
“Yeah, duh.” Ben mocked.
Agitation took over your brothers features, “I get that,” He snapped, “But why’re you getting the old man a gift?”
Before you could finish rolling your eyes and open your mouth to retort, yet another voice cut into the conversation.
“Mom told me to tell you that it’s time for lunch.”
Luther stepped out into the courtyard, falling short and warily eyeing you and Diego, who looked about a moment away from burning holes into one another with your hard glares.
You both ignored him, though, “It’s a plant, Diego. Can’t I get our dad a plant?”
With a small sigh of frustration out of your nose, you looked away from your brother and back to the prized gift.
Without knowing what possessed you, you reached out, as if to touch the plant, only for your hand to be harshly and promptly slapped away.
All four of your heads snapped up, staring wide eyed at your father, whom none of you knew was there in the first place.
“Number eight.” Reginald chided, his ever-present frown set upon his lips, “Don’t you know a poisonous oleander plant when you see one?”
Yours and Ben’s mouths dropped open.
“P-poisonous?” The boy squeaked, paling at the thought of what he had been holding in his arms.
A hard look was set upon your fathers face, “A poison that could lead to sickness, as well as even death.” His tone was clipped.
“I-we-“ You stuttered out, “The lady that sold it to us didn’t tell us!” You cried.
Reginald clicked his tongue in annoyance, “And what were you planning on doing with it, anyway!”
“We got it for you!” You told him, “We wanted to get you a plant! We had no idea it was poisonous!”
Your father stared at you in silence for a moment before turning on his heel and striding back inside, “Chop, chop, children. I believe Grace has already told you that the meal was ready.”
You and your siblings stood in an awed silence for a moment following your fathers departure, none of you quite knowing what to say.
“Holy shit,” Diego finally breathed out, “You tried to poison dad.” A grin slowly spread on his face, “You tried to poison dad.” He repeated before letting out a cackling laugh.
Luther glowered at him, “It’s not funny, someone could’ve seriously gotten hurt-“
“Hey, Klaus!” Diego ignored him, walking back towards the manor as he called out to your brother, “I dare you to come touch this cool plant outside!”
Luther paled, running after the boy in hopes of putting an end to any madness before it even began.
You and Ben looked at each other. Blinking once. Twice.
“Next time…” Ben mumbled, “Maybe we should just get him a cake or something.”

Klaus Hargreeves x Sister!Reader
Summary; Most people hate their siblings. This is not the case for two of the Hargreeves. A big brother, his baby sister, and a whole load of chaos.
CW: cringy tries at inserting lyrics, swearing, a bit angsty, mention of drugs, bad writing ig, not proofread
WC: 1908
Tumblr media
On an early Saturday morning, the Hargreeves' children were awoken by Pogo. They were all fourteen at this point and were used to being awoken early in the morning to do training. They reached for their training gear, but Pogo stopped them.
"Ah, actually, today your father needs to discuss and announce something, so training is delayed for the hour" All the Hargreeves children were confused, but dressed themselves and lined up in the living area. Their father came into the room and, to their surprise, was holding a small infant. They gasped in surprise, staring at the child. "Children, this is number 8. They, like you, have powers. They have the ability of water manipulation, and I will be raising them alongside you."
They all stared at the child, taking in their features and their peaceful expression. Klaus stared at them; he felt a strange connection to this kid. Reginald placed the child into a bassinet and left the room, and ordered the siblings to get back to training. They all wanted to stay for a moment and process what was going on, but Grace shooed them out of the room. Klaus stepped outside so his mother would get off his back but went back into the living area once she'd left. With shaking hands, he reached for the baby. He gently picked up the child, and her eyes fluttered open and stared at Klaus. Her expression changed to one of confusion, and Klaus panicked, thinking she would begin to cry. Much to Klaus' surprise, the baby began to giggle. At that moment, Klaus just knew he'd have a special bond with that little girl.

*4 Years Later*
Klaus really did love her. He did. But not even his love for her could make him stand the thought of spending a second longer in that house with his cruel father. He felt terrible. Most of the Hargreeves' children had left home already, moving out and pursuing a new life. Klaus had held off on this for a while, wanting to stay for (Y/N). But he just couldn't take it anymore. He wanted to stay and protect her, she still had at least twelve more years here, and God knows what their father would do with her once none of her siblings could defend her. After the fight Klaus had with his father, though, he couldn't stand the thought of staying in that house anymore. He felt horrible, he couldn't leave without a goodbye, but you were nowhere to be found at that point, likely somewhere with Grace. He sighed, collecting a few of his things that he didn't mind leaving in your possession. He grabbed a photo of the two of you from his nightstand. The photograph captured one of you and Klaus' many good memories. In the photo, you were on Klaus' bed. Klaus was tickling you, and you were laying on the bed, shrieking, giggling, and kicking. You had a bright grin, and Klaus was looking up at you with pure adoration in his eyes. He felt tears swell in his eyes, reminiscing on that precious moment, but he blinked them away. He grabbed your favourite glittery gel pen and began to write on the back of the photo.
Dear (Y/N/N), I'm sorry, but I have to go. You need to know that I still love you, though. You're the most amazing little sister in the world, and I'm gonna miss you. I'm sorry for leaving you but I can't stay any longer. I'll see you soon, sunshine. I'm gonna miss you so much.
- Klausy"
He felt horrible for leaving the poor girl behind; she was so small and vulnerable. He'd come back for her someday. He put his things into a pile and left the photo and note on her bed. A tear rolled down his cheek as he went to leave your room. Just before he left, he grabbed one of your stuffed animals. You and Klaus always played with it when you were little. He shoved into his bag and walked out of your room. He shut the door, climbed out his window, and didn't return to the Hargreeves' mansion for years.
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
*12 years later*
You were 16 by now. It had been a long time since you'd seen any of your siblings, and you missed them dearly. You hadn't seen or heard from Klaus since he left that note on your bed. It broke your heart when he left, he was your best friend. You still had all your brothers belongings that he left in your room and kept whatever he left in his bedroom. You were 4 when he left and had grown a ton since he had left. It had been 4 years since you had seen any of your siblings. The last one of your siblings you saw was Luther before he went to the moon, even then, he didn't ever talk to you much. You liked watching the news or movies to see your sister, Allison, or your brother, Viktor, or even your other brother, Diego. Your father had recently passed away, and you were devastated. He was a cruel, cruel man, but he was still your father. However, this meant a funeral would be held.
You prayed that Klaus would come to it, wanting nothing more than to see your favourite brother again. It was finally the day of the funeral. You changed into your black dress, with tights and your black converse. You got dressed and applied your makeup before heading downstairs. There was a knock on the door, and you ran down the stairs to answer it. Your eyes blew wide to see it was Klaus. You went to leap on him, but he stopped you. His eyes were bloodshot, and he seemed out of it. You quickly realised that he was on drugs and likely didn't recognise you, considering how much you had grown up since he last saw you.
"Klausy?" You said quietly, in shock. He stared at you, perplexed, until he remembered that nickname. "Oh (Y/N/N)!" He shrieked and hugged you tightly. "Oh, how I missed you, sunshine!" You smiled happily and hugged your brother back tightly. It was weird to see him now, he looked so different. But it had been 12 years of no contact, and you also looked drastically different, so you couldn't say much.
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
*a few hours later*
You had spent your last few hours greeting your other siblings and doing other random things but spent the majority of it bonding with Klaus. He was amazed at how grown up you now were and felt a pang of guilt, knowing he missed all of your childhood. You both went over what you had been up to for those past few years and Klaus listened intently to every word you said.
It was nearly time for the funeral when you heard something outside. Everyone rushed outside, and you saw something that looked like a bright blue portal. You stared in confusion, hidden behind your brothers. Much to your surprise, a boy (who looked a couple years younger than you) fell from the portal. All your siblings seemed shocked to see him, as if they knew him, but didn't expect him to be there. He looked somewhat familiar, but you couldn't put your finger on it.
"Does anyone else see little number Five? Or is that just me..?" Klaus said, unsure if the drugs were causing him to see things.
The boy looked around, staring at the faces of his siblings. "Shit."
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
You had now properly introduced yourself to Five and realised where you recognised him from. He was in the painting over the mantel. He knew of your existence from Viktor's book but was somewhat glad to formally meet you. It was now time for the funeral... it didn't exactly go down well. Diego made some ballsy remark, and it all kicked off. Him and Luther began to shove each other. You watched, eyes blown wide. You were stood with Klaus underneath his pink umbrella. Klaus watched as they fought, pushing you behind him and putting his arm out in front of you. Your breath hitched, you were scared at the sight. Klaus encouraged the fight until he saw your reaction. He covered your eyes, "Oh cmon, not in front of the kid!" As the words fell from his mouth, they crashed into Ben's statue. You heard the crash and Allison bluntly say 'Well, there goes Ben's statue.' Klaus did enjoy watching fights but wanted you away from the scene.
You sat down on the sofa, shaken by the scene. You knew Diego was violent and ballsy but you never expected him to do such things. You were staring into space, paying no attention to your surroundings until you felt the sofa dip beside you. You turned your head to see Klaus. "Hey sunshine, so much for a funeral, huh?" He laughed breathily, taking a puff of his cigarette. You looked down, Klaus noticing your dejected state. He put an arm around her. "Cmon, sunshine, no need to get down about it, they're just moody old men. They'll be fine." You smiled softly up at your brother and he grinned at you.
"There's that smile, huh." He said, attempting to make your smile even wider by tickling you. You began to shriek and giggle as he poked at your ribs. He laughed softly, remembering the picture he had left on your bed all those years ago. The memory was bittersweet, he loved it but couldn't help but associate it with abandoning you all.those years ago. He vowed to never leave you like that ever again.
☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆♡☆
*dallas, texas, 1963*
It had been a while since you ended up in Dallas, after going through that portal. Luckily for you, you landed with your big sister, Allison. She took you under her wing, allowing you to live with her. She told Ray that you were 16 and just looked a bit old for your age and that she had you when she was in her teens. Ray loved her and believed it, he accepted you as his own daughter. But nothing made you stop missing your big brother. Allison sent you to school in order to not arouse suspicion. You weren't the biggest fan, but it helped you to keep your cover. One day, you'd had a pretty shitty day and stormed into the house. You hoped to collapse onto the sofa and just lay there. As you slammed the front door you heard a man's voice as well as Allison's. You peeked into the living room, seeing Klaus. "Klaus?!" He looked up at you, "Oh, sunshine! Just the girl I wanted to see!" He leapt up from the sofa, taking you into his embrace. Allison smiled, opting to leave you two to have a moment. He pulled away, wanting to see how much you'd grown since you last saw each other but noticed your tear-stained cheeks and red eyes. "Whoa, whoa, woah, what happened to you sunshine?"
"N-nothing, it's fine." You sniffled, averting your gaze to the floor. "Talk to me, what's going on?" With this, your eyes teared up again, and you broke down crying, explaining what had happened. Klaus held you, stroking your hair and consoling you. "It's gonna be okay sunshine, you should know I'll be there for you." You smiled up at him weakly, and he dried one of your tears. "If we have each other, we'll both be fine." He said with a soft smile.

Five Hargreeves - More than I originally planned
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x reader
Word count: 1109
Warnings: Wounds, blood
Summary: Five comes home bloodied and bruised, you patch him up and give him love.
Tumblr media
You had stayed at the academy when Five told you he'd be going out to get a cup of coffee since there clearly wasn't any in these cabinets. You took a book from the bookshelf in the living room and sat down at one of the couches with a cup of steaming hot tea and a few pieces of chocolate that you occasionally ate between the page-turning. The sun had gone down and your only light source was the small lamp standing in the window and the light above Five's portrait. The fire in the open stove had almost gone out completely, the only flame left was the soft glow in the burnt coal.
After what seemed like almost an hour and a half you began to wonder where he was. It didn't take that long to get a cup of coffee. He'd taken the car, too tired to spacial jump, but even the car didn't take that long to drive. Five wasn't very stingy with the gas either and it was late so traffic couldn't really be the problem. You looked up from your book to check the time one more time and your gaze got stuck on Five's portrait. The oil paint was shiny and he looked so... nobel. Five had always been proud and probably a bit of a pompous ass, but on the painting he looked almost like royalty. He looked like he deserved to be up there. Considering he'd survived an apocalypse and gotten back to the right timeline to save his siblings and you, he probably actually deserved the portrait.
The front door got shut and the sound seemed to echo through the house. Your gaze snapped in the direction of the hall and you saw Five walk in. The obscure lightning made it hard to see him properly but when he almost fell towards the wall, propping himself up and limping in towards you, you shot up from the sofa and rushed towards him.
"Oh god, you're bleeding!" you placed your hands on his shoulders, examining him closer. He had a nasty wound on the side of the head, his clothes were torn in a few places and the smell of blood filled your nostrils. His uniform jacket was partly crimson red and his knees were scraped up pretty badly. Five made a vague gesture towards the jacket, "mostly not mine," his voice was hoarse and he shifted his weight over on you instead of the wall, trusting you to hold him up. You carefully led him to the couch you'd previously been sitting on and lowered him down to sit on it. He gave out a huff off air as he fell back to the cushions, his eyes closing momentarily before meeting your gaze.
"I'll be right back," you mumbled and set off towards the bathroom to get a first aid kit and some painkillers. When you returned, Five looked as if he was sleeping. His green eyes were closed and his breathing was somewhat even. You softly shook him, "I'm back," you mumbled and gave him a small smile. He looked extremely tired and worn out but gave you a weak nod as an answer.
"You don't have to..." he said quietly and made a gesture to the things in your hands and his wounds. You just shook your head at him and sat down in front of him on the floor. You poured out some of the alcohol you had to clean his wounds on a cotton pad and carefully started to clean the gashes he'd gotten on his knees. He winced and twitched at the feeling of the stinging alcohol. As you swiftly swept over the whole wound he let out a sharp hiss.
"Sorry," you whispered and placed a warm hand on his leg to hold him still. The comforting motion of your thumb softly stroking his gashed up skin made him relax a bit. You finished it up with taping the deeper wounds before moving on to the wound on the side of his head. Sitting down on the couch beside him to reach his head, the couch dipped down slightly and Five ended up slightly leaning on you. You didn't know if the action was intentional but you could swear he moved just a tad bit closer to you. He must have really hit his head if this boy was seeking touch on his own intiativ.
"May I ask how you managed to get this traumatic brain injury?" your voice was just a whisper but a small smile played on your lips as you repeated what you'd done on his knees, on his head.
"The usual," he just replied with a small smirk, his eyes looking up to meet yours. You just shook your head at him, not really believing how he could get hurt so much. He was never without at least a scratch.
When you were done you pulled a hand though his soft, dark hair and pressed a soft kiss to his hairline. Five closed his eyes and sighted at the touch, leaning into your hand, encouraging you to continue the act of comfort. You moved your things away from the couch and put them on the floor before sitting down more comfortably. Five fell into you and you returned to pulling your hand though the dark strands. A content sight went though you and Five smiled at your reaction to the cuddling. After a few minutes Five sat up with a groan, propping himself up on his arm.
"I'm staining your clothes with blood, you know," he stated and you looked down at your sweater to see faint spots of red stained on it. "I should go change," Five groaned and pushed himself up to sit properly, not wanting to leave the couch, or your warm, comforting embrace.
"No, no- it's alright, come here," you gently grabbed his arm again, pulling him to you again, wrapping your arms around him and pressing your lips to his temple. Five sighted and he seemed to melt into your embrace, his touch starved years starting to catch up with him.
"Are you sure?" he looked up at you through his thick lashes. You just nodded and pressed another gentle kiss at his forehead. He buried his face in the crook of your neck and pressed a kiss to your neck.
"You know," he started, looking up at you again,"I turned out liking you a lot more than I originally planned." You laughed softly at that, capturing his lips in a sweet kiss.
"Same," you whispered against his lips, stroking softly over his wound. "Same."

COWBOY LIKE ME
warnings: inspired by taylor’s song; enemies to lovers; season 3 spoilers; a lot of TENSION
synopses: when your love is so big that you start hating each other
five hargreeves x sparrow!fem!reader
Tumblr media
five was the most insufferable person you ever meet. he was so arrogant and a know it all. the first time you met was when his family and yours were trying to kill each other in the living room.
you were already worried enough that a giant kugelblitz had appeared in the luggage room of the academy mansion. you loved being there beacuse it was quiet and peaceful. the only company was yourself and your thoughts. so, while you were thinking about how you could stop appearing in magazines and outdoors that idealized the sparrow academy, a big explosion gave life to the kugelblitz.
you had already read about it in the thousands of books sir Reginald had in his library. he had this thought that you were the most special of the sparrows, so he made sure you read every book he had.
it made you a little nervous this pressure that your dad used, because you had no idea why you were special. you controlled the fire and honestly, that was nothing special. your brothers were more powerful than you, so it was nonsense.
then you when you went upstairs and saw your brothers almost killing a weird group, you enjoyed them.
you started to fight with five, he was with jayme, “go after that big guy, i’ll take care of this one”.
you both were agile and logical, something that was different between your brothers. you liked to fight, it was like you were dancing - full of body movements that required every one of your muscles to work.
"what did you come here for?" you asked as if you were sitting in a bar chatting. that made five furious. he was already pissed because this time line wasn’t what he expected, so he discounted in your fight.
"no bullshit, angel" he said as he punched you in the arm.
"you fight like a little kid" you said smirking, hitting his nose.
"at least I know what I'm doing" he used his powers to appear behind you and kicked your legs, making you lose balance and hitting hard the ground.
"why are you here?" you insisted with your chest rising and falling rapidly, as he put his hands in his pocket.
"we already told your family that, i guess you were busy looking in the mirror just to see how patetic you are.” he rolled his eyes, and you got up. who the hell is this idiot in front of me? “we ran from an apocalypse and just ended up here," he continued.
"didn't calculate correctly?" you asked in a sarcastic tone, making he clench his jaw. "I guess you're not very lucky though, since this timeline is also about to end" you said smoothing your clothes.
"what are you talking about?" he asked frowning.
"there's a fucking kugelblitz down there.” he looked confused, so you decided to explain. “kugelblitz is a-"
"a black hole formed from radiation instead of matter." he completed the sentence, smirking. ugh, arrogant.
Tumblr media
you and five were responsible for explaining what was happening to your related brothers.
so you started to study, trying to find something that could destroy the kugelblitz. you became obsessed with that. the thought that your brothers wouldn’t live their biggest dreams in life made your eyes filled up with tears.
with the help of the books, you started to learn about the apocalypse and the historical and scientific accounts of what was a kugelblitz. you were so focused that you didn’t notice that you had company.
five was drinking his coffee when he made his way to you. without asking, he took the book out of your hands, making you jump in fright. he walked away from you, as if the book were on a shelf and not in a person's hand.
“five! it’s mine! give it to me” you ran after him. you couldn’t lose your dad’s book, otherwise he would notice. you knew that because you loved stealing his books when you were a kid and reading while your brothers were sleeping.
“are you reading about what is a kugelblitz again?!” he sighed.
“i’m trying to see if there’s something we could do with our powers. but i’ll guarantee to you that you’re not going to be included” your cheeks were burning.
“oh, i’m so sad” he said sarcastically and threw the book on the table full of notes. you crossed your arms wanting to threw everything at his stupid head. he turned away, and you looked intensely at his hair.
“what is this smell?” he asked sniffing, trying to look for something. “oh my god” he placed his hand at his hair, seeing that it was on fire. literally.
“y/n! put it out!” he yelled, trying to stop the fire on his hair.
you laughed as he ran to the restroom. at least he was good for something… annoying!
he went to the bathroom running and when his hair was no longer burning, he came back to your room with really loud footsteps. his fingers was pointing to your face and as he walked to you, you walked backwards - didn’t wanted him to be punched - so he ended up pinning you against the wall.
“god, you were going to pay for this” he yelled.
“oh… i’m so scared of you” you said with the biggest smile on your face, trying to piss him.
“you’re a nightmare, y/n!” he was so close to you that you could feel his coffee breathe.
“that’s a compliment, love” five was clenching his jaw, switching his eyes to yours and then your mouth.
“you mean nothing to me” he whispered.
“are you trying to convince yourself or me?” you lowered your tone. whispering the same way he was.
there was a long pause with five still staring at your mouth. he was getting closer and closer, but…
“hey y/n, we need you there” slo suddenly appeared at your room, making five use his powers to jump away from you. thanks god, slo saw nothing.
you suddenly missed his warm body leaning against yours.
Tumblr media
the month slipped away and all of your working and studying meant for nothing. you find a way where the kugelblitz would be inside of christopher. but it didn’t worked, and now the fireball was ten times bigger than it was.
you were not sleeping anymore. not only because you knew you were going to die, but because of five. when you needed to be at the same place, you wanted to kill him with your own eyes. and he looked at you the same way. you couldn’t take him out of your mind, cursing his name every goddamn night.
and for the sake of your mind, sloane and luther were going to marry. you couldn’t be happier with your sister finding the love of her life. but it was kind of sad that they wouldn’t have enough time together.
this apocalypse was making you have a mix of feelings. you even caught yourself wondering what would be if you had found the love of your life. but it was bullshit since you had already tried having a relationship with some people, but you knew that you were better alone.
"hey, can you zip my dress?" slo asked making you snap out of your thoughts. she was so beautiful you wanted to cry. you got up from the sofa where you were lying on and your sister turned back.
"slo, i never had the opportunity to talk about my feelings with you, but now that the world is going to end... i love you. you were the best sister i ever had and i couldn't be happier that you met someone who genuinely loves you." you said, making your sister turn around to take your hands.
she smiled the biggest smile, and with her eyes filled with tears, she said “thank you y/n. you deserve that in your life too. even if it is in this timeline…”
you heart raced, what is she talking about? “i know you since we were kids, it’s easy to tell when you really like someone. you should just try it. i think it’s a mutual feeling”
even though she was right, you knew that you wouldn’t be able to love again.
Tumblr media
the umbrella academy and ben already were waiting for the bride in the lobby. five was pacing back and forth, biting his nails. diego laughed with lila and said "it looks like it's five who's getting married.”
the boy heard them “shup up. I just want it to be over soon”
“hey! compassion with the groom, please” luther said and suddenly the elevator opened and everyone looked at you and the perfect bride beside you.
five could hear his own heartbeat. his belly was weird and he couldn’t take his eyes off you. you were absolutely gorgeous. with a red dress, red lips and wavy hair. fucking magnetic.
"now it all make sense, huh" lila whispered in five’s ear. his cheek turned red and he closed his mouth that he didn’t even noticed it was open. what have i done?
Tumblr media
the ceremony was beautiful and simple. you knew they deserved so much more, but given the conditions they were in, that was the only thing that could be done. and slo and luther looked so happy. they were just thinking about the present, not worrying about the apocalypse that would happen in a few hours. and you guessed they were right. there was nothing to do anymore.
the dinner was served and you sat with klaus. you wished that in another timeline, klaus was your brother. he was so outgoing and he had the best energy you already felt in someone.
five sat in another table and you could feel his eyes on you. the party didn’t even started and he was already in his third glass of whiskey.
the old man that worked at the hotel started to play some songs and klaus took your hand for dancing.
“klaus, I need to go to the bathroom real quick…”
“oh, of course! I'll be waiting” he said, standing up in a funny way and heading to the dance floor.
you took your silver bag and went to the bathroom to touch up your lipstick. while you were walking, you heard his footsteps behind you. suddenly, your heart raced.
“what do you want?” you asked without taking your eyes off the mirror.
“we need to talk. the kugelblitz-”
“the world is going to end, okay? we already tried everything and it didn’t work” you looked at him. and he was smirking with his hands in his pocket. “what?”
“you look cute when you’re trying to save the world” you rolled your eyes.
“really? what are you here for?” he started making his way to you. “are you really going to piss me off when the world is about to end?” he was close enough. he put his hands in your arm and you felt dizzy.
his touch made you lost your focus and you couldn’t think about anything more.
he didn't take his hand off your arm, he didn't take his eyes off your mouth and walked backwards until you hit the wall.
“why are you here, five?” your breathing was getting heavier and heavier. “I hate you” you whispered.
“we have something in common” he said. you didn't know why he had that power over you.
he came even closer, “tell me to leave and i will.” you swallowed.
"i don't want you to" you whispered and placed your hand on the back of his head,
“i’ve been waiting all my life for this moment, even when i didn’t met you. you were made for me and i was made for you” he whispered in your ear, making your whole body feel intensely warm.
he placed his mouth on your neck and you rolled your eyes from pleasure. you pulled his hair as he looked at your eyes. you both smiled and you kissed his mouth.
you felt like your whole body was flying. his hands were exploring your body. the same way as your tongues. the kiss was intense, neither of you wanted to let go. and you knew that it could be love.

she’s insignificant
chapter 14: you’re lying
the umbrella academy x (fem) reader
disclaimer: i do not own the plot/storyline of the netflix tv series and i do not own the umbrella academy characters.
warnings: none for this chapter i think??
a/n: in honour of almost 400 followers ig?? i present to you... an update!!
masterlist
y/n swung to a halt, feet pressing into the dirt beneath her soles as she breathed in slowly.
she didn't want to be a part of it.
five could solve his own problems.. except it wasn't just his problem.
she didn't want to die. not like this.
and so she did help, whether they wanted her help or not, she needed to do this.
she silently chewed on her lip, willing herself to stay where she was. she shouldn't be risking her life for them. she shouldn't get up. she shouldn't keep following their life threatening actions.
but anything for family right?
she scoffed but stood despite her annoyance. here she was crawling back to those who didn't even bother to stay for more than a day in her company unless there was a world ending apocalypse.
her eyebrows furrowed as exited the calm park, how did they know five wasn't crazy anyways? how old did he say he was, 58? what bullshit.
she huffed a laugh at that, she was still 16 after all.
before she knew it she was once again back in front of the place she sadly called home.
-----------
allison stepped up beside diego, watching quietly as grace patched up five's wound. neither spoke for a moment, merely mulling over the day's events in their head.
softly, diego turned to look at his sister, "anything?"
"there's no answer at vanya's place" allison begun, continuing in a disbelieving tone. "and the receptionist at her music school said she was a no show for her lessons today"
there was a moment of silence again before diego stepped back, allison following his movements. "hey, are you okay?"
"yeah... i don't know its just surreal seeing her" he paused, looking back over at grace, "i just want to tell her that i'm so-"
allison stared at him, suspicious but allowed him to move on anyways. "we don't have enough time we gotta go"
"i don't know, diego. five is laying there, unconscious" she gestured, off-handedly towards the said boy, "and y/n is still out somewhere no one knows. we need them."
"we can do this ourselves" diego argued,
"we did that already, remember? we all ended up dead" allison pointed out, before softening "i don't know, i'm just- i'm thinking maybe i should go and see claire before-"
"you can't run away from this, allison, that's what started all of this in the first place" he sighed, defeated "luther was right"
allison scoffed, eyebrows raised "i didn't think i'd ever hear you say those words"
"yeah, well, we gotta stick together" he shrugged, and she finally agreed.
"where do we start?"
-----------
y/n pushed the door open to a once again empty house. with a brief glance around she quickly made a beeline for the room she knew they would have taken five. she peered around the doorway only to see grace seated beside five, who remained unconscious.
her mother figure held a book in her hands, perfect posture as usual as she waited for five to wake.
y/n jumped when a voice spoke up behind her.
"allison and diego left some time ago"
"pogo! oh my god" she held a hand to her heart, breathing out slowly before pausing, "where did they go?"
"i'm not sure, although i do believe they split up" pogo had already begun to walk away, intending to check on five, as she hurriedly pulled her phone from her pocket, ringing allison's number.
the dial tone rang for what felt like too long.
"y/n?" she sucked in a breath.
"hey allison.." she nervously rocked on the soles of her feet, eyes flickering over the several fighting posters littering the hallway, slowly pacing. "uh, what are you and diego doing?"
"well, diego got arrested" y/n felt her eyes widen, surprised he had done anything recently that could have lead to an arrest.
"what?"
"yeah, he didn't tell me why but he's probably in jail-"her older sister begun,
"you're going to find the others, aren't you?" she didn't wait for confirmation, continuing to ramble. "i'll get diego then, we need to do this together, right? that's what five-"
"y/n" allison cut her off, sharply. she wasn't annoyed but definitely tense.
"sorry" she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth, anxious. "i'm just.. you know, not ready to die or whatever"
"neither am i" allison sighed, "go get diego, we'll meet up later, okay? just.. stay safe"
y/n softly murmured the saying back before hanging up.
-----------
the h/c haired girl stepped into the police office, head held high in false confidence. surely it wasn't too hard to get diego out. what was he in here for anyways? dressing up like makeshift batman?
she waltzed right through the building looking for someone who appeared to have access to her brother. her eyes narrowed in on a detective she swore she had seen before.
"hi" he wasn't expecting anyone when he pulled his seat out from his desk, nervously attempting to appear normal. he jumped slightly in surprise, turning to face a young girl who smiled politely up at him from the other side of his desk. "is he here?"
the question caught him off guard but he had an idea of who she was referring to.
"and you are?" he raised an eyebrow, key clutched tightly in a fist by his side tightly to hide that he had been about to break her brother out for something he was accused of doing.
"y/n hargreeves, is he here?" she continued her tight lipped smile, looking around him to try and spot her brother as she repeated her question.
"diego? he's back there.." he gestured vaguely behind him to a locked room, "you can visit him if you want" he spoke quieter, leaning closer over his desk, eyes flitting around for anyone listening.
"please" she nodded, following him through the offices to the cell where her brother stood.
diego looked up from where he leaned against the cell door.
"hey" she grinned, stepping in and briefly thanking the man as he closed the door. he nodded back, slipping the key into her hand before completely leaving.
"hey?" diego's eyebrows furrowed, standing up straighter, curiously watching her step closer. "what are you doing here?"
"breaking you out or something" she shrugged with a small grin. "what're you in here for anyways? cosplay?"
"murder" her smile disappeared quickly, head tilting.
"who? the masked woman?" she was joking again. diego rolled his eyes, annoyance clear in his attitude. "hey, hey, no need for that, i've got it, okay?" she held a hand up, quickly unlocking the door, pulling it open and bowing with an arm out sarcastically.
"you're welcome" she called as he sauntered off,
"shut up, we need to get going" her playful tone quickly diminished, silently following him out the back door.
they walked quickly, fast paced towards the academy. y/n merely matched his footsteps, lost in her own head once again. it felt like that a lot recently, she was far too stuck in her mind, reliving the strange dreams plaguing her.
y/n was jolted out of her stupor by diego's attempt at conversation, "what's up with you lately?"
"what?" she hadn't even realised they had slowed down a bit. "what do you mean?"
"you're spacing out" he reached a hand up to push a finger into her forehead, causing her scowl in annoyance.
"i am not"
"you are too! you just did it a second ago. come on, what's going on up there?"
the pair weren't particularly close, they never had been. sure, more so than her and luther or her and allison but they had never confided in each other. it just wasn't a thing they did.
"it's nothing, just weird... dreams" she shrugged it off,
"dreams? you hesitated" he raised an eyebrow at her, urging her to continue.
"and? it was probably just a lucid dream or something.. i don't know, it feels like a memory" she crossed her arms to her chest, frowning.  "i think i- i think i met someone?"
he stayed quiet, listening carefully.
"she.. she was beautiful and i'm just so- it sucks, i can't remember if she was even real! she was there and we had a good time together but she just- she was gone and i woke up without ever seeing her again" y/n felt the tears of frustration form along her waterline, slightly blurring her vision. with a small groan she blinked them away. "my head hurts"
"are you sick?"
"what?" her head snapped towards him, anger filling her chest at his response.
"no, no!" he quickly grew defensive "i meant like- it just sounds like a fever dream or something. that's- that's a thing right?"
"a fever dream? yeah. but i mean, i'm not sick. i don't think i'm sick" she bit the inside of her cheek, eyebrows furrowing with concern but before their conversation could continue diego pushed the gate to the academy open, rushing upstairs to find his weapons.
she sighed, standing on the doorstep, knowing he would return. her mind went over the memories again.
-----------
"feeling down?" a voice surprised her. her eyes widened as she looked up to find one of the most beautiful girls she had ever seen. her dark skin complemented her suit, curly hair bouncing with every step she took. her blazer was slung over her arm with her hands in her pockets and sleeves rolled up to reveal her forearms. her lips held a teasing smile. "stunned, hm?"
"s-sorry" y/n glanced down again, fiddling with her fingers. the girl laughed lightly, taking a seat on the other swing beside her. her mind barely registered the british accent, only now noticing she sounded foreign.
"what's got you down, love?" the pet name, probably meaning nothing, no more than habit, caused y/n's cheeks to heat up.
-----------
she shook her head, trying to push away growing flush in her face.
luckily, her diego stepped out, providing a needed distraction.
"where are we going?" she asked, following along with klaus and five beside her.
"to find luther"
right, this was going to go well. she rolled her eyes.
-----------
luther sat at the bar, drinking away his sorrows, apparently.
diego walked in first, the trio following behind him but stopping when he gestured for them to 'let him handle it' or whatever. y/n and five shared a raised eyebrow, both doubtful considering luther and diego's history.
despite their issue with it, nobody protested, merely sitting off to the side.
"so.. where'd you go?" klaus begun, not caring for the awkward atmosphere. both y/n and five gave him an unimpressed look.
"we're trying to eavesdrop here, do you mind?" five scowled, offhandedly waving his hand in luther and diego's direction.
"yes, i do mind actually, i just want to know where little baby y/n has been" klaus pretended to coo, patting her head.
she slapped his hand immediately, scoffing. "i'm not a baby. and i haven't been anywhere important, so i don't see why it's any of your business"
"defensive" klaus raised his hands as she shot him another glare, finally going silent so they could listen in.
"you wanna turn your back on me, the guys, y/n. that's fine" diego shrugged, gesturing to the three standing to the side. "but allison deserves better than that"
"allison? what are you talking about?" y/n's eyebrows furrowed at luther's words, confused. she glanced at klaus and five again, neither one seeming surprised. had they all known allison was in trouble?
"well, we got a hold of harold jenkins' police file" diego begun, slowly "turns out vanya's boyfriend is a convicted murderer. who would have saw that one coming? little hard to trust anyone who wears corduroy"
"wait so.. where's allison now?" luther leaned in, finally interested in the point of the conversation,
"she decided to go after harold jenkins. all alone" diego emphasised the danger she was in.
"you should have lead with that. jesus!" the pair stood up, the other three following before y/n moved to block their way.
"wait diego! you didn't tell me that!" she stared at him expectantly, hands tightening into fists to calm her growing frustration with this family.
"well, you were going to find out eventually i just-" he tried to excuse, hoping to wave it off. she knew it. they always tried to excuse their behaviour. but the annoyance was started to seep in. she laughed emotionlessly, crossing her arms as she gave him a blank stare.
"you didn't think it was important to tell me?"
the silence was deafening.

Is it weird that I’m suddenly so attracted to Viktor Hargreeves after he came out as trans?
Like I’m bi…so I should of been attracted to him pre and post transition. But I didn’t even notice him pre transition.
Now I want him to rearrange my organs.
And it’s the same with Elliot Page. I was like Ellen Page who? Oh but Elliot, he can have me any day.
Is it something to do with his newfound confidence? I don’t know I just know that I want him.
Tumblr media
And to think I was one of the people who was so worried before S3 came out about Viktor being made trans just because of Elliot’s identity and thinking it wouldn’t fit Viktor’s character

Welcome Back
Relationship: Five Hargreeves x Female Reader
Fandom: The Umbrella Academy
Warnings: Cussing, sarcasm, spoilers for season 1
— — — —
Tumblr media
Seeing a family member could be many things. It could be traumatizing. It could be exciting. It could even be crazy. Well, knowing my family, it could be anything but any of those options. As kids, an important family member ran away. To be more specific…he disappeared. I think about him everyday.
But now…now I think I’m hallucinating him.
“Shit…I should really get a therapist…” I mumble, glancing at my brother at the end of the store aisle. Of course, he was a hallucination. He looked just how he left. A thirteen year old Five Hargreeves.
He gave me a wide smile, one I haven’t seen in a very long time. His hands were stuck in his pockets as he strode towards me. “(Y/N)...it’s great to see you.”
I look at my surroundings to make sure nobody would think I’m crazy. I then slowly put the few cans of food that were in my hands on the shelf where they belong, trying to look as normal as possible. “And he talks? What did Klaus put in my food…?”
Five looks around in confusion, still keeping his smile. “Are you…okay, (Y/N)?”
I lean in towards him since he and I are the same height. “Would you go away? I don’t need hallucinations in my life right now.” I whispered to him.
He scoffs. “You think I’m…” He paused. He grabs my arm a little roughly, but nothing to cause a bruise. He almost yanked me out of my spot. “It’s really me!”
My eyes widened at his little show. He’s real. “Oh my god…Five?” My arms wrap around him tightly in a surprise hug. He grumbles at the contact but lightly taps my back in somewhat comfort.
“Yeah. yeah, it’s me.” His smile seemed to be fake, or in some kind of sarcasm style.
“How are you here? And why are you…like this?” I point out.
He looks around while he fidgets. “Long story. I came here to talk to you about something.”
I frown. He really hasn’t changed. “Oh, really? What is it?” I walk across the aisle to grab a couple more cans and head back to my spot. Five followed me around like a baby chick. Well, maybe an angry one.
“The family is back together at home. An apoco-”
“-What? Everyone got back together? When?” I interrupted him. A few more cans are grabbed from the cart.
“You didn’t know? Dad’s funeral.” Five probably got tired of me walking back and forth as he grabbed the box full of cans I was grabbing from. I thanked him quietly while I listened. “He’s dead. A heart attack.”
“Dad died? That’s…interesting.” I shrug my shoulders. “I left as soon as I could. More like Dad helped me move out by buying me a place to live.” I chuckle.
Five looked confused yet upset by the news. “He just…let you leave?”
“Well, yeah. I don’t have any powers, remember?”
“Right. Anyways. There’s an apocalypse coming-”
“-What?!” I jump.
He sighs in agitation. “Would you stop interrupting me?” At this point, the box is completely empty. He tosses it to the side, making it into the half full cart a few feet away. I stay quiet to let him finish. “Thanks. Now, there’s an apocalypse in a few days. We need your help.”
“Why me?”
“Why not? You’re family, are you not?”
The more we talked, the more frustrated he seemed to be getting. “Look, Five…I can’t. I don’t have any powers.”
“So does Vanya. And she’s waiting at home just like the rest of us. With her family. Are you really gonna stay here working at a shabby store?”
I huff at his comment. “Ouch. It’s not like I can teleport through time and stay as a kid and live a different life.”
Five pinched his nose. “God damn it. I am not going there.” He mumbles, as if to remind himself not to fight with his own sister. “Just come with us, or I’ll drag you there.”
“Okay, that’s not fair. Those aren’t really options.” I fight back.
He grabs my arm once more, but this time he drags me through the store. “I don’t care. You are coming back home whether you like it or not.”
A part of me craves his attention like I did back then. His sorrowful and smartass moods weren’t very pleasant, but they were what made him…him. The other part wishes I never existed. A life in the Hargreeves family wasn’t something anybody would want. At least my favorite brother was in part of it…
A soft smile spreads on my lips. “So…the uniform still fits?”
He scowls at the fact. “Just shut up and follow me.”

Chapter 8: Things that do Matter
"Harold Jenkins?" Allison asks, holding the note from the Commission.
"Who the hell is Harold Jenkins?" Diego asks.
"I don't know," Five says as he tosses the empty coffee cup across the room. "Yet. But I do know that he's responsible for the apocalypse. So we have to find him. And we have to do it now."
"How is he connected to what's gonna happen?" Luther asks.
"I don't know," Five answers.
"Wait, so you just know his name? That's it?"
“That's enough," Five informs.
"There's probably dozens of Jenkinses,"
"Well," Five admits. "We just better start looking, then."
"Am I the only one that's skeptical here? I mean, how exactly do you know all of this about what's his name?"
 "Harold Jenkins."
"You know those lunatics in masks who attacked the house?"
"Oh, yeah, I think I remember those guys."
"Yeah, the ones that attacked us while you were getting drunk."
"Yeah," Five says. "Them. They were sent by the Temps Commission to stop me from coming back and preventing the end of life on Earth."
"The Temps what?"
"My former employer. They monitor all of time and space to make sure that whatever is supposed to happen happens. They believe the apocalypse is coming in three days. So I went to Commission headquarters and intercepted a message that was meant for said lunatics. 'Protect Harold Jenkins'. So he must be responsible for the apocalypse."
"What do you mean, protect time and space?" Allison asks at the same time Diego says he’s going after Hazel and Cha-Cha.
"Do you have any idea,” Allison starts. “How insane this sounds?"
"You know what else is insane?” Five counters. “I look like a 13-year-old boy. Y/N glows like she is made of neon. Klaus talks to the dead, and Luther thinks he's fooling everybody with that overcoat. Everything about us is insane. It always has been."
"He's got a point there," Klaus acknowledges.
"We didn't choose this life. We're just living it."
"For the next three days, anyway."
"But the last time we tried to stop it, we all died."
"Why is this time any different?"
"Why shouldn't I go home to my daughter?" "Because this time, I'm here. We have the name of the man responsible."
"Guys, we actually have the chance of saving the lives of billions of people,” Five insists. “Including Claire."
Allison is surprised. "You know her name?"
"I do, and I'd like to live long enough to meet her,” Five tells her.
All right."
"Let's get this bastard," Allison states.
"You had me at Gerald Jenkins," Diego says.
"Harold Jenkins," Five corrects him.
"Whatever."
Y/N chuckles but nods.
Diego continues. "I've already lost two people this week, I'm not losing anyone else." She reaches over and gently puts her hand on the one in the sling.
"And Luther?"
"Yeah, you go. I'm gonna stay and go through Dad's files. I still think this has something to do with why he sent me to the Moon."
"Seriously?" Diego asks. "Now you wanna make the end of the world about you and Dad?"
"No. 'Watch for threats.' That's what he told me.”
Diego can feel his sister’s sigh.
“You think that's a coincidence? This all has to be connected somehow."
"No, we should all stick together."
"We don't have time for this," Five says.
"Let's roll."
"I know where we can find this asshole."
“Diego…” she starts.
"Klaus, you're with me."
"Yeah. I'm good,” Klaus tells them. “I think I'll, uh I think I'll pass. I'm feeling a little under."
Diego looks at Y/N when he moves, but she doesn't. "Would you be mad if I stayed here?" She asks him.
"You want to stay?" He repeats. She always wanted to go with him, one way or another. Even when he didn’t want her to. It set off alarms in his head, especially after the way she was acting when Viktor was there. "What's wrong?"
Five seems to get impatient, but Diego glares and waves him off. "I'll be right there," he tells their younger-looking, much older brother. Five relents, for now.
She looks at Diego. “You go. I’ll stay here and see if I can help Luther. I need some sleep. I can get that here. You have to admit I'm off my game. I'm too tired. I didn't even see V get here, and the Wisp was in full form in the room. I barely reacted when Five-"
"Luz, look at me," he tells her. His hand was on her cheek to make her really look at him. He studies her face. His thumb brushes along the dark circles under her eyes. She must be bone tired to actually admit it. "Okay, you get some sleep and see what you can do after. Keep those two in line if you have to."
"DIEGO!" Five calls him.
"ALRIGHT!" Diego turns and shouts back.
"Be careful," she says.
"Of course, can't do anything stupid without you, I promised. Right?"
She nods. "Now go before Five has a rage stroke fitting of the old man he is."
"I'm starting to regret asking the two of you to get along," Five glares at Diego as he approaches the car.
"Well, I regret you a lot, so there's that," Diego counters.
"Y/N is staying?" Allison asks.
"Yeah, she is going to get some sleep and then do whatever she can to help."
"And you're okay with that?" Both Five and Allison are surprised.
"Would I rather we all be going, of course, but her powers can be a drain. If she needs the rest up, so we have a better chance of stopping this guy, then better now than later. Besides, Luther and Klaus are here, Pogo too. They'll look after her."
She manages to get a bit of sleep. When shouting wakes her. She finds Klaus in his room.
“What’s going on?” she asks.
“Luther left,” he tells her.
“What? Why?”
“He found the research he did while on the moon, and dad didn’t even look at it,” Klaus says.
“But that…what?” she says in shock. “I’m going to talk to Pogo.”
She looks at her father’s office and sees the mess Luther left. “Pogo?” She goes to find him.
“Yes, Miss Y/N,” he answers.
“What happened?” she asks. Pogo explains most of what happened between Reginald and Luther. Or as much as he is willing to say. She helps him straighten a few things up before Klaus seems to have a change of heart and tells her that Luther wanted to be more carefree like him and that they should probably find him.
“Why didn’t you tell me that sooner?!” She runs to her room and grabs her jacket. “We need to find him!” She sends out a handful of Wisps but keeps her body moving and searching as she does. “I’ll look. You just make sure I don’t get hit by a car or anything. You can manage that at least, right?”
“I’m sorry, Sunshine,” Klaus says.
“Can you do that?” she repeats.
“Of course, I’m not going to let you get hit by a car or get shot…again. Diego would murder me.”
“Okay, thank you,” she says before putting more focus into her search.
“We should have taken him to the hospital.” Allison and Diego manage to get a bloody Five back to the Academy.
“A kid with a shrapnel wound might raise some questions,” Five tells them.
“Yeah, well, so does the murder shrine in Harold Jenkins' attic.”
“He's still losing blood.”
“What do we do?”
“We gotta get the shrapnel out.”
Diego sees Grace.
“Diego, where are you going?” Allison asks.
“Mom?” Diego asks.
“Oh, hello, Diego, dear.”
“What... How are you still... walking around?”
“One foot in front of the other,” Grace tells him. “Why? How do you do it?”
He gets Grace to save Five.
Klaus keeps looking at his sister nervously as he argues with Ben. She barely even registers him talking. Her concern for Luther is pushing her more than her father ever did as a kid. She ignores the throbbing behind her temples as she searches. The throbbing pain turns into a full-blown nauseating migraine as she follows a lead to a rave. After hearing someone mention the hairiest man they have ever seen. That had to be him. She pulls back all but two orbs to search. “He’s here somewhere. Find him.” She and Klaus split up.
“Anything?” Diego asks as they stand in the hall outside of Five’s room.
“There's no answer at Viktor's place,” Allison tells him. “And the receptionist at the music school said he was a no-show for his lessons today.”
“Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah.”
“I don't know. It's just surreal seeing him. I just wanna tell him that I'm s -”
“We don't have enough time.” Diego says. “We gotta go.”
“I don't know, Diego.”
“Five is laying there, unconscious.”
“We need him.”
“We can do this ourselves”
“We did that already, remember? We all ended up dead.”
Allison is unsure.
“I'm just I'm thinking I should go and see Claire before,” she tells him.
“You can't run away from this, Allison,” he states. “That's what started this whole mess in the first place.” He glances at the empty rooms around them and thinks about what is happening. What has happened. Everything that still needs to be done.
“Luther was right,” he admits, much to Allison’s surprise.
“I didn't think I would ever hear you say those words,” she says.
“Yeah, well, we gotta stick together,” Diego insists.
“Where do we start?”
“There's no other addresses in the file, but there is another relation listed.”
“Jenkins' grandmother,” he tells her. “She lived near Jackpine Road.”
“You think he took her there?”
“It's a good enough place to start.”
“Nope,” Diego says and starts moving in the other direction down the road. “Come on, this way.”
“Wait,” Allison says, confused, “but the car is back that way.”
“Trust me, okay?” Diego implores. “Come on.”
“But what is going on?”
“They're here for me,” he tells her. “They think I did something.”
Allison has to ask. “What do they think you did?”
Police sirens signal that their time to chat is running out.
“Murder,” Diego answers.
Allison can’t help but ask, “Did you?”
“No, no, no, of course not, okay?” Diego insists. “Y/N was there too. Why would you ask that about me, anyway?”
“She isn’t here. And I mean, you do carry knives with you everywhere.”
“Yeah, okay, we're gonna have to split, okay?” Diego says. “I'm in charge.” He looks over at her. “Remember? Viktor needs you.”
“Don't do anything stupid, okay?” Allison says. Diego because she isn’t the sister that is usually telling him that. And he’d promised that sister that he wouldn’t do anything stupid. Now here he was about to get arrested. She was not going to be happy about that.
“Drop it!” The officer tells Diego.
“Weapon on the ground, Diego.”
Diego winces in pain as his injured arm is pulled roughly.
“I expected better from you, Chuck,” Diego says.
“I got orders,” Beaman says, “You and your glowing sister. Don't make this harder than it already is.”
“Glad she’s not here then,” Diego admits.
“Diego Hargreeves, you're under arrest on the suspicion of the murder of Detective Eudora Patch.”
“Rodriguez, I thought we were friends.”
“You killed a cop, asshole.”
“You have the right to remain silent,” The cop continues. “Anything you say - can and will be used against you.”
Diego spits at him. “Use that against me.”
She can’t believe what she is seeing when she does find him. "Luther?!" She stares in shock at her hulking brother's clearly inebriated form. Shirtless and dancing like a maniac.
"Y/N/N!" Luther gestures for her to come closer and hugs her a bit too tight. He doesn't notice the way she winces at the pinch of pain in her arm. She had a feeling he'd torn a couple of her stitches, causing her to drop the Wisps forms. Her powers return to her and make her glow. He sets her back on her feet. Her hand goes up to her injured arm. "Guys! This is my sister, Y/N. You should see what you can do!"
"Her aura is so bright," someone says. She flinches back when she feels someone touch her face.
"That's nothing. You should see the Wisp!"
"Hey! Watch it. That's not my aura. It's my powers," she says, pulling back and swatting away the hands that reach for her with her good arm. She turns back to Luther. "Luther, we need to find Klaus and go home."
Her brother looks around almost comically but comes up with nothing. "But this is fun!"
She sighs. She knows she can’t physically move him. What choice does she really have. "Right, just stay here. I’m going to find Klaus my way. Don't you dare wander off on me," she points at Luther. "Okay, big brother? I need you to have my back."
"Yeah, of course," Luther nods. "Guys watch this," he says when she closes her eyes and summons multiple small orbs again. She ignores the oohs and ahhs around her and sends them out to search. "Crazy, right? So cool." She hears Luther say. "Hey, don't touch." Luther scolds someone when she feels a hand in her hair, but it's gone before she can bring more attention back.
"Klaus!" She shouts and turns to Luther. "Don't leave."
"I won't!" Luther says but she decides to leave a small whip orb with him. She goes to where she had seen their brother.
"Klaus!" she shouts, but his form is almost too still, and others seem to be gathering around him. She can feel dread creep up her spine. "Klaus, please!” She slaps his cheek. Ignoring the chatter and stares around them as her body glows intensely blue from her anxieties shining through the Wisp inside her. He wasn’t breathing. She must have said it out loud because someone comes closer and starts giving him CPR. Her normally well-maintained focus to keep the Wisp down is gone as she watches the stranger try to revive her brother. The orb she left with Luther fades as she pleads with Klaus. "Come on! You don't get to leave me too!" She can feel tears on her face as she begs. "This isn't how Five saw it, and you don't get to go without me. I can't lose both you and Ben. I can't." She lets out a laughing sob as Klaus seems to come around.
"Sunshine?" Klaus blinks at her.
"DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" She shouts as she scrambles to her feet, pulling him up and into a hug. He feels her shake.
Klaus feels a hint of guilt as Ben berates him for upsetting the one sibling that routinely cared for them. "Hey, Sunshine, I'm okay," Klaus assures her, wiping some of the tears off her face. "I'm sorry, I was…trying to help Luther."
"Luther!" She gasps, her hand going to Klaus' and dragging him back to where she had left Luther, but he was gone. She curses in every language she knows. Earning odd looks from the people around them. “ I told him to stay here. I left a Wisp with him, but I lost it when you weren't waking up."
"Sorry," Klaus says as they look around. She finds out that Luther had been kicked out. "Are you bleeding?" He looks at her arm. "We need to get that taken care of."
"We need to find Luther!"
"We can do both," he says.
They track Luther back to the Academy, and Klaus can tell his sister is practically dead on her feet. The search and panic attack she had when she found him seemed to drain any energy reserves she had been surviving on. She could hardly protest when Grace redoes her sutures and tucks her in. She’s out before Grace even leaves the room. The Wisp a dim glow in the dark room as he closes the door.

''So, what's the plan Five-o?'' Klaus' voice rang out from the back of the van, causing Five to let out an annoyed sigh. ''You're still here? I thought you left already'' Klaus leaned his body forwards and the action caused Five to roll his eyes.
''Keep rolling your eyes, maybe you'll find a brain back there'' Sam declared, leaning back into the van's stiff seat. Five glanced at the girl and crossed his arms over his chest. ''Why are you even here? I thought I left you at the Academy. You people just don't go away do you''
''You people?'' Klaus gasped dramatically and raised his hands in the air. ''Five! Someone could take offence to such categorization'' Five's face scrunched together and he scoffed. ''Sure, whatever, Klaus'' His eyes stared out the van's window, scanning the surrounding area.
After a few moments of silence and intense staring from Klaus, Five finally broke the awkward atmosphere. ''You know what, Klaus?'' Klaus' eyes flickered with interest and he nodded his head at Five. ''Why don't you-'' He paused his sentence, fishing his hand into his pants pocket. He pulled out a crisp twenty-dollar bill and flaunted it in front of his face. ''Take this, and go buy yourself a little something''
Five sent him a devious smile and tilted his head to the side. Klaus' eyes sparkled with greed and he quickly took the bill from the boy's hands. ''Aye-Aye Captain'' He hurriedly opened the van's door and hopped out of it. ''Adios'' He saluted the pair and slammed the door shut.
''Manipulation at its finest'' Sam spoke out to the boy. ''I don't know what you're talking about'' He sent a mischievous smile at the girl and turned his focus back to the area. ''I'm sure you don't'' Sam stared at the side of the boy's head and lifted her body weight off of the seat.
''So, still obsessing over the Apocalypse, are we?'' She spoke to him, searching for any type of reaction she could get from him. ''I'm not obsessing over anything'' He scowled at her, his fist clenching tightly to his side. She glanced at his fists and a chuckle escaped her mouth.
''Not even over me?'' She leaned an arm on the armrest and leaned her body towards him. She stared at him, waiting for his reaction to her comment, but was disappointed when she didn't get the one she had hoped for. Instead, the boy just kept his gaze on anything but her and had a slight frown on his forehead.
But, if she had stared any longer, she might have noticed the slight pink tinge crawling up his ears and neck.
''That's just stupid'' He declared in a low tone. Sam leaned back in the seat and glanced forwards. ''Whatever you say, Five-o'' She extended the ''O'' and laughed at her own words. '' Hey, I'm going to use that more often'' His frown deepened at her comment, but he kept his mouth shut.
''If you keep frowning like that your face is gonna be stuck like that permanently'' She tilted her head on the seat's chair, making her able to see the boy again. He finally turned his gaze towards the girl next to him. ''Why are you still here? Do I need to bribe you away as well?''
''So you admit to bribing Klaus?'' He ignored her comment and raised his eyebrow at her, expecting an answer. She only smirked at him and picked at her fingernails. ''I'm just curious to see where all of this is going'' He narrowed his eyes at her. ''Are you even going to help me stop this''
''What would I get in return?'' She lifted her head to meet his gaze. ''You'd get to live'' He spoke out like it was the most obvious answer in the world. ''Sounds like a shitty reward for all the work I'd have to do'' His mouth opened slightly, seemingly shocked at her answer.
''Don't you care if you die?'' She held his gaze, staring at him for what seemed an eternity. ''Not really'' She shrugged her shoulders at him and a silence fell over the two. ''I guess that's the difference between you and me-'' Sam spoke out. ''You'd do anything to save yourself, and your family, hell the whole world-''
She glanced away from the boy. ''While I'd rather just watch and let the world burn'' She felt his eyes burning a hole in the back of her head, but chose to continue on. ''That says a lot about us both-'' She looked back at him. ''Doesn't it?''
The boy stared at the girl, questions running through his mind and his mind trying to piece everything together. ''Yeah, I guess it does'' The boy felt his right hand reach for the gun on his waist, shielding his hand away from the girl's view. He felt threatened. No, that was an understatement.
Five felt- no he knew that the girl next to him chose her words carefully, and with purpose. Yet, he was conflicted. If his theory was really correct, the girl needed to die. But, at the same time, he could use this to his advantage. But would she have really gone that far?
Would the Handler have sent a girl to live out her childhood for dozens of years with the Hargreeves' family just to stop him?
Yes. Yes, she would have.
But he needed to be absolutely certain. He couldn't just kill the girl. What if he was wrong? The damage that could cause to him and his family members would be too grave. It would ruin the whole point of getting them all together again. He needed proof or a confession. But most of all -
He needed to be ready.
And he would be. He knew if she ever tried anything with him, he would be ready. He needed to play this smart. As much as Five knew he was intelligent, he couldn't deny the fact that so was she. They were both cunning and manipulative, but the real question was -
Who would best the other first?  Who would come up on top?
Whoever wins, gets to live. And he's determined to win. He hasn't come this far to lose to her.
So, quickly retreating his hand from the gun, he placed it on his lap. Her eyes followed his hand for a second but lifted back up to his face. ''So, I imagine you've been staring out of the van window for a reason'' She glanced away from the boy. ''Or maybe you're just being a creep''
She shrugged her shoulders. ''I wouldn't put it past you'' She pursed her lips together, staring at a couple of birds perching on a nearby tree. ''Do you take enjoyment from insulting me?'' Five sneered at Sam, rolling his eyes at her previous comment.
''Absolutely. It makes my life just a little less miserable'' She tilted her head at the boy, showing him her pearly white teeth. ''Of course, you do'' He sighed and his gaze lingered a few seconds longer on her face. ''We have to wait for the Doctor'' She raised her eyebrow at him. ''What would that even do? We were there ourselves, he doesn't have the files''
''Sure, he doesn't have the files there'' The boy straightened his back from the seat. ''But I'm betting he has them somewhere else'' The girl next to him let out a slight scoff. ''You're betting? So you're not even certain'' She rolled her eyes at him.
''Well, that's the only lead I have going for me by now'' He visibly clenched his jaw. A slight smirk overcame the corner of Sam's lips and she let herself fall back into the seat. She raised her arms and stretched them to the back of the seat, but quickly retreated them when she felt her fingertips touch something.
Her eyes scanned her hands and visible relief overcame her when she saw nothing. She turned her body towards the back of the van, eyeing it. A scowl overtook her face when she realized what she had touched. Or, whom she had touched. She quickly turned her body back around and her arms found their way to her chest.
The movement quickly caught the attention of Five and he quizzically glanced at her. He saw the girl glance towards the back and let his eyes wander to his love. Delores.
He quickly leaned towards the back of the van and picked her up, bringing her up in between himself and Sam. Sam glanced at the mannequin and a frown overcame her face. ''What's even the deal with the doll?'' She picked at her fingernails, still frowning.
''She's not a doll'' He glared at the girl and felt his hands clenching against the car's seats. ''Well, she's not human'-' The girl stared down at Delores. ''And I'm pretty sure you might be crazy'' The boy brought Delores closer to him, getting a safer distance from Sam.
''You know, if you keep making comments, one might think you're jealous'' The boy glared at the girl, yet a smirk made its way onto his lips. The girl's head slowly turned towards the boy, causing him to feel a small pan of nervousness from the movement.
A teasing smile was all he was met with.
''Didn't think you could ever make a joke to me, Hagreeves'' His nervousness was instantly met at ease. ''Well, I'm full of surprises'' The smile never left the girl's lips. She leaned forward towards the boy, leaning an arm on the center console, inching more and more towards the boy.
Inches away from the boy, she glanced at his eyes and quickly down to his lips. She pushed herself off of her seat even more until her mouth reached his ear, resting one hand on the boy's thigh. ''Five'' She purred quietly into his ear, making the boy shiver at the cool air fanning over his ear and his neck.
''Yes'' His words came out silently and breathy. The girl's grip tightened on his thigh and he felt shivers running down his spine. The girl's head then ducked down slightly towards his neck and he could now perfectly feel her breath fanning over it.
Her hand that rested on his thigh slowly lifted towards his neck, giving it a slight squeeze. He felt a noise threatening to come out of his throat, but he managed to keep it down. She slowly removed her hand from his neck, tracing her fingers all the way up to his jaw.
She cupped his jaw and her stare found its way back to his. The boy was about to lean into her touch before her grip turned hard and she forced him to look at her. ''Don't ever say that I'm jealous ever again'' Venom dripped from her words, yet they sounded like the sweetest thing. Five's eyes had slightly widened at her change of demeanour and an accidental whimper of a yes had escaped his mouth.
Hearing the sound escape from the boy's mouth, Sam felt a tinge of pride overcome her. She smirked at the boy and patted the boy's cheek. ''I guess I'm full of surprises as well'' She let out a laugh. Five stared at the girl and was internally beating himself over the fact he had let her do that to him.
He had let himself be manipulated.
He took a few seconds to compose himself and scoffed at the girl. ''Don't ever do that again'' He avoided her curious gaze. ''Well, not to be a smart-ass--'' She paused, staring intently at him. ''But in my opinion, it seemed like you rather enjoyed it'' She tilted her head and smirked at the boy. ''You sure you don't want me to do that again?''
''Positive'' The boy huffed out, a pink tinge crawling up his face. ''Mhm'' She hummed out. The teenager sent her a quick roll of his eyes but quickly stopped when he caught a familiar white coat nearing Meri-Tech's building. ''There he is, there's our guy'' His voice captured Sam's attention.
''The Doctor?'' He nodded his head at her question and she hummed out in acknowledgment. ''So, what's the game plan'' The girl spoke out to him. ''No plan'' He quickly spoke, reaching into the bag in the back of the van and putting the said item into his pocket, the item gleamed before he had done so.
''You don't have a plan?'' Sam scoffed at him. ''That's what I just said, yes'' He opened the car door and shut it quickly, making sure he didn't have to hear another of Sam's comments. But, he soon heard Sam repeating the same action, and footsteps trailing behind the fast-walking boy.
Five quickly stopped, causing the girl to hit his back. She visibly frowned at the boy and he ignored her. He held his hand up to silence her and she scoffed at the action. ''Just wait'' He said in a hushed tone. He patiently watched the man in the lab coat, trying to find the best time to do something.
When the man had gotten into his car he saw his chance. He quickly placed a hand on Sam's arm and they both appeared in said man's car, startling him. The Doctor jumped from seeing the boy and girl appear in his car and Five swiftly placed a knife against his throat.
''Oh, Jesus!'' The Doctor yelled out, sweat already beading from his forehead. ''One chance, that's all you got'' Five hissed at the man. Sam sat in the back, patiently watching their encounter. She felt a touch at her side and glanced, seeing a tiny brown dog next to her.
She cooed at the dog and patted her lap silently. The dog wagged her tail and crawled onto Sam's lap, laying his head down on her thigh. She pats the dog's head and continued watching the two men's interactions. Five decided to press the knife deeper into the man's throat, making the man whimper in fear.
''What do you want?'' The man choked out, tears starting to fill his eyes. ''You only have one chance, to tell me exactly what's going on in that lab'' The Doctor's hands clenched against his steering wheel. ''I don't know what you're talking about'' He cried out.
Sam's eyes narrowed at the man and she leaned forward, being cautious of the now sleeping dog on her lap. She leaned her chest against the back of the car's seat and her hands made their way to the man's shoulders, grasping on them tightly. ''Now, now--'' She purred into the man's ear. ''I'm sure that's not true, now, is it?''
The man felt tensed his shoulders when the girl behind him tightened her grip against them. But, he quickly started yelling out in pain when it felt like a stove was pressed against his back and shoulders.
''Stop, stop!--'' He continued to cry out in distress, trying to thrash out of Sam's grip, but being held back by the pain of Five's knife against his throat. ''I'll tell you, just please stop!'' Sam raised her eyebrow at the man and snickered. ''now, that's more like it''
''The stage is all yours, Five-o'' She unwrapped her arms from the man and leaned back into the car's cushy seat. Five looked at the Doctor expectantly. ''I--'' He stumbled, choking over his words. ''I manufacture prosthetic devices for fake patients''
He paused, sniffing and letting tears fall from his eyes. Sam rolled her eyes. ''Go on, it's not like we have all day'' The Doctor gave a terrified look from the mirror. ''Right'' He muttered. ''I bill the insurance companies and then sell them for cash on the black market''
He got quieter the farther along he got in his sentence. ''That's it?'' Sam spat out. ''I expected more from you, Lance'' She rolled her eyes at the pathetic man in front of her. ''Sam, can you shut it for a minute'' Five threw a glare in the girl's direction.
She sneered at the boy and leaned back into the seat, even more, petting the dog's head a little more aggressively. ''Hurry up, then'' She muttered, like a child pouting over something stupid. He ignored what he deemed as a childish comment. ''Including eyeballs?'' Five asked the man.
''My biggest seller. They sell like hotcakes'' He watched Five's expression, trying to be careful to not piss off the already temperamental boy. ''I've got a list. A waiting list'' Five's ears perked up at the words. ''Probably twenty buyers, at least'' He leaned closer to the man. ''So, the serial number I gave you?'' The Doctor nodded his head. ''It could have been bought off the books, yes''
Sam watched as Five's eyes showed an expression she hasn't seen from the boy recently. Hope.
''Right, well, he kinda needed that list. Why didn't you give it to him back at the office? Or even better, right now?'' She stared at the man, watching him glance back at her. ''I don't have it on me, nor is it at the office. My only copy is in my safe at a different lab''
''Well, better start the car. We're going on a field trip'' Five narrowed his eyes at the man and gestured to the steering wheel. Five kept the knife pressed against the Doctor's neck as he started the car and shifted it forwards.
The car ride was filled with silence and the occasional murmurs from Sam to the dog. Five kept his jaw clenched the whole ride and periodically pressed the knife a bit harder into the Doctor's neck to remind him that he was there. Every time Five did so, the Doctor picked up speed, trying to get to the destination faster.
The closer they all got to the building, the more Sam scrunched her nose. She had smelled this smell before, but couldn't quite place it. She heard the mutters of the Doctor saying they were almost there and swear she could see relief dripping from the man.
''Do you smell that?'' Sam sneered in agitation. Five rolled his eyes and glanced back at her. ''Smell what?'' Her face scrunched together and she gently lifted the dog off of her lap. ''If I'd known, I wouldn't have asked'' She opened the car window.
She stared off into the buildings and continued trying to decipher that one peculiar smell. She took one last whiff before her eyes widened. ''Hey, Five'' She spoke out to the boy, almost in a sing-song type of way. He glanced back at her but didn't say a word.
''I know what I've been smelling'' She smiled at the boy. He finally gave in and bit the bait. ''And, why would I care?'' Her smile only grew at his response. ''Oh, you might not right now, but trust me, you will'' The Doctor glanced between the two of them and suddenly slammed on his brakes, causing Five to slam into the front of the car.
''What the fuck!'' He screeched out, rubbing his arm and pointing the knife at Lance. The man only sat, mouth wide open, pointing at a specific building. Five's gaze followed the man's finger and finally noticed the burning prosthetic building. ''Fire'' He mumbled under his breath.
He quickly opened the car door and dashed out towards the burning building, leaving the door open. The Doctor leaned back in his seat in fear and glanced at Sam through his mirrors. The girl met his eyes and smiled. ''Poor boy. Never gets his way, does he?''
The Doctor furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and leaned away from the girl. She grinned from ear to ear and stared at the running boy from the car. ''Well, I guess it's time for my departure'' She opened the car door and hopped out from it, leaving a confused Doctor within it.
''You better scurry off before he comes back'' She gave a wholehearted laugh. ''We wouldn't want that now, would we?'' The Doctor quickly nodded his head, no, and held his hands on the steering wheel once more. Sam slammed the car door shut and kicked the back wheel tire with her foot, letting out an unsettling laugh and hollers as he drove off with speed.
''They never do stay for long, do they?'' She smiled to herself. A giant boom was heard near her and she quickly turned around to see Five being blown out of the air and the building tattered in pieces.
The boy fell painfully onto the ground and she stared at his limp body, slowly walking towards him while sirens were heard in the distance. She finally arrived at the groaning boy and squatted next to him, peering over his shoulder. Five moaned in pain and cradled himself into a ball, holding his ribs.
''Well, at this point, you're just going to kill yourself'' Sam sighed in annoyance, and the boy only grunted as a response. The girl stretched her arms over her head and stood up. ''Come on, we need to go'' She reached down and grabbed the boy by his shoulders.
His body tensed at her touch and he made no movements to help her. She sneered at him and only tried harder to pick him up. ''Five, the police are coming, we need to go'' She grunted while finally getting the boy up on his feet. ''Jesus, you look lighter than you actually are'' She huffed, out of breath.
The boy only clutched his head and closed his eyes tightly. She stared at the boy and let him lean his weight on her, making sure she was steady enough so that he didn't fall. ''Can you jump us out of here?'' He opened his eyes and glanced at the girl he was holding on to.
He shook his head, no, and let out a deep breath, making the girl sigh. ''Right, well, you're gonna have to keep up with me then'' She started walking off with one arm grasping onto the boy's tarnished uniform away from the wrecked building. She kept her grip on him until she reached the destination where she wanted to go. Griddy's Donuts.
Stepping into the familiar restaurant brought back some recent memories, concerning her, Five and them killing some of the Commission's men. But, hey. What are you gonna do about it? Luckily, it wasn't busy inside of Griddy's, leaving only her, Five, and a chubby man as customers.
She dragged the boy inside and sat them down far away from the chubby man. She huffed and took a few seconds to catch her breath. ''I'm never doing that ever again'' She let out a deep breath. She whipped strands of her hair away from her face. She glanced around the restaurant and a menu caught her eye.
She walked over towards it and grabbed it in her hands, scanning over it quickly. She looked back towards Five only to see him laying down in the booth. Her gaze lingered a few seconds longer and she tore it away when she heard rustling. She looked forwards to see the chubbier man adjusting in his seat, staring intently at the lady behind the counter who was brewing coffee.
She let her gaze travel across his body, a feeling of familiarity crossing over her. She quietly walked toward the man, only for him to see her. She saw his eyes widen and the man in suit quickly picked up a newspaper next to him and hid his face from the girl.
The minute he did that, well what she thought was, a comical move, she knew exactly who the man was. With a lightbulb light over her head, she marched over to the stool next to the man and pulled it out. She sat herself down and scooted closer to the marbled counter.
The man's hands were tightly clenched around the newspaper, making the paper crinkle, and unreadable. She smiled at the man and stared at him. The man tried hard to not stare at the young girl, making it ever so evident by pulling the newspaper higher to block her out of his sight.
Sam's smile only grew wider with his action, she almost even laughed. She turned her head back around and rang the bell next to her, signalling the lady in pink, Agnes, to come over. Agnes' head swiftly turned towards the bell and a smile embraced her pink lips.
''Why, hello there, what can I help you with?'' Her pearls shinned brightly towards the two, her pink lipstick helping bring out the whiteness in her teeth. Sam placed a shoulder on the counter and leaned toward the elderly woman. ''I actually didn't ring the bell--'' She pointed towards the man next to her.
''He did'' She sent him a mischievous smirk and tipped her head at him. Agnes smiled at the girl and turned her attention towards the man next to Sam. ''My apologies, what can I do you for?'' She smiled sweetly at him. The man visibly tensed at her words and his brown eyes met Sam's for a flicker of a second.
''Sir?'' Agnes let a hand fall to her hip, notepad in her other hand. She glanced at Sam and raised her eyebrow. Sam let out a chuckle and placed a hand on the man's shoulder. ''I'm sorry, my friend here is very shy--'' She stared at the man. ''Aren't you, Hazel?''
The man paused and finally let the newspaper fall next to his arms. He stared at the girl and he rubbed the girl's hand off of his shoulder. He broke her gaze and met the older woman's one. ''Just that chocolate donut right there, please. And maybe some hot chocolate? '' He let out a slight smile.
''Of course, coming right up'' Agnes' cheeks lit up in a slight pink colour and she jotted down his order on her notepad. ''Anything for you, Dear?'' Sam nodded her head. ''Just a  cup of water'' Agnes nodded her head and quickly toddled off into her kitchen.
''So--'' Hazel started, but was quickly cut off. ''What are you doing here, Hazel'' The man quickly laced his fingers together, toying with them, while keeping his gaze away from the girl next to him. ''We had a big day today, got hungry'' Sam scowled at him.
''It seemed like you also had a big day when you shot at me in that stupid knockoff Dollar Store'' She glared at him and he avoided her gaze. ''Yeah, sorry about that'' She tore her gaze away from him, swaying her feet. ''Doesn't matter now, it's in the past'' She muttered, and Hazel glanced at the girl.
''Not to be rude, but, why isn't the boy dead yet?'' She glanced back at Five and Hazel followed her gaze, eyeing the sleeping boy up and down. ''What's stopping you?'' He questioned her and she scoffed. ''Nothing is stopping me'' She turned back towards Hazel.
''Then why isn't he dead?'' She leaned back into her chair, picking at her nails. ''I could ask you the same thing, you know that right?'' He let out a slight laugh. ''I guess you have a point'' He copied the girl's action, leaning back into the chair. Their conversation was halted when Agnes returned, orders in hand.
''Here you all are'' She smiled sweetly at them, mainly Hazel. ''Thank you'' He muttered out to her, a blush creeping up on his face. Sam glanced between the two, amusement displayed all over her face. A phone rang and Agnes quickly said her goodbyes and rushed to pick up the screaming phone.
''It'd be cute'' Sam spoke out. ''What?'' Hazel turned his head towards the girl. ''I said, it'd be cute. You and Agnes'' Hazel's face lit up and he glanced away from the girl. ''I don't know what you mean'' He muttered. ''Yeah, sure you don't. It's clear you two have a thing for each other''
''We both know I'm not the best at these kinds of things, but I'm not dense, nor am I blind'' She laughed out at the man next to her, who was hiding his red face with his hands. Sam glanced at the water bottle in front of her and picked it up, getting out of her chair at the same time.
Hazel peeked at the girl and watched her walk towards Five. ''You know, maybe you're not as bad as you think you are'' The girl stopped walking. ''What?'' She turned her head back at the man. ''The love thing, you know--'' He paused. ''I assume that's what you meant'' He smiled gently at her.
She stared at Hazel, thoughts running through her head. ''It was'' She nodded her head and continued walking towards Five. She reached the booth and sat down opposite the boy. She opened the bottle and stared at him, pondering.
She could have killed him at any time. And yet, here she is, and here he is. Alive.
She glanced back towards Hazel and watched as he and Agnes held a conversation. A smile unknowingly made its way to her lips and she stared back at the boy. She reached an arm over the booth counter and shook the boy gently. He stirred from her shaking and a groan escaped his lips.
He slowly opened his eyes and he gave himself time to re-adjust them to the light. After a few seconds, he slowly used his arm to lift himself from his previous position. He grunted and his eyes stared at Sam's figure. ''Where am I?'' He voiced out, his voice hoarse.
''Wow, I don't get a ''Thank you for saving me, Sam!'' She declared in a high-pitched voice. The boy only glared at her with tired eyes. ''Okay, fine. We're at Griddy's if you must know'' Five stared at his surroundings, in his daze not noticing Hazel, or recognizing him.
''We have things to do, why'd you bring me here of all places?'' He sneered at the girl. ''Well, it's not like I was going to drag you all the way back to the Academy'' He broke his stare from the girl and glanced at his hands and arms, taking note of every deep cut and scratch.
''Let's just get out of here'' He mumbled, placing his hand on Sam's arms, spatial jumping them to the Academy. They landed in his room, him on his bed and Sam on the chair she had previously been on the last time she was there. ''Damn it'' She heard the boy mumble under his breath.
She stared at him and his injuries, but said nothing when she saw a rather deep gash on his side. ''So, what now?'' She leaned back into the wooden chair, feeling as if she was doing that rather a lot lately. Five grimaced at the girl, his hands grasping at his side.
''Don't you think if I knew, we wouldn't be here right now?'' He said through gritted teeth. The girl only snickered at him, to which he only gave her an exhausted look. She kept staring at the boy's face, a feeling of guilt creeping up on her. ''Look, Five--''
''Save it, I'm not in the mood to hear any of your insults right now'' He spoke with mild venom dripping in his tone. She clenched her jaw and her teeth rubbed together. Well, she tried. Sam just raised her hands in the air mimicking surrender and crossed her arms over her chest.
She glanced around his room, bored of the silence that filled it. But, her gaze had stopped on an item laying on the floor next to the boy. A book. A book about Math. Gross, right? But in this case, it might actually be useful. She stood up from the rigid chair and picked the book up from the floor.
Five glanced at the girl and the book in her hands and raised an eyebrow in confusion. She tossed the book in front of the boy and crossed her arms once more. ''You should be more grateful that you have someone as smart as me helping you. Well, sometimes''
He picked up the book and flipped through the pages. He closed it with a slam and tossed it onto the floor. ''This does nothing for me'' He spat out. ''Oh, but it does--'' Sam walked towards the boy sitting on the bed. ''It's valuable'' She stood in front of Five.
''How is that book of any use to me?'' His face scrunched together in impatience. ''I didn't say that specific book'' She rolled her eyes at his stupidity. ''Books in general'' She turned her back on the boy, staring at his chalked walls. ''You're good at math and science, wouldn't you say?'' She asked him.
''Yes, I would say'' He said slowly and cautiously. ''Then why not try and find a way to stop this Apocalypse, involving the two things you shine brightest at?'' She smirked at the boy and turned back to face him, inching closer to him. '' A library'' The boy spoke out in realization.
''Exactly'' She leaned down at him. ''Finally, the fish bites the worm'' She bit her lip,  trying to contain her laughter. He frowned at the girl but quickly stood up, right up close to Sam. ''Why don't you want to help me?'' She leaned her head. ''Isn't that what I just did?''
''Yes, but why don't you help me all the time'' He inched closer towards the girl, slightly hovering over her by a few inches. ''We could stop this Apocalypse in no time if you just joined me'' She lifted her head higher to meet his concentrated gaze. ''I don't need to join you because I'm not on a team''
A silence filled the room while they just stared at each other, Five trying to figure out a way to get the girl to either confess or join his side.
''Now, shall we go?'' She placed her hands on his chest. ''We don't want to keep the Library waiting, do we?'' She let her hands linger on his chest for a few more seconds before pushing the boy away.
She then turned around and made her way towards his door. She was surprisingly halted by an arm snaking around her waist and a blue hue surrounding her. She quickly opened her eyes and was met with a different surrounding, the Library. The arm removed itself from her waist and she watched as Five held a bag in his hands.
''Shall we go find the books?'' He sent her a smirk of a smile and started walking away without a response from her. She quickly followed suit and watched as he picked out dozens of books on science, math and physics. He placed each book he grabbed in Sam's arms and walked away before she could protest.
''Guess I'm holding onto the books now'' She rolled her eyes in annoyance. After a few more dozen books and Five finally settling on a quieter spot in the Library, she sat down the books and let herself fall next to the boy. He quickly picked up a book on physics and started reading quickly through it.
He only got five pages and a half before he leaned over and opened his black bag, pulling out a bottle of alcohol from it. ''Wow, real classy'' Sam chuckled at the boy's action. ''It's the only thing that's going to get me through the night'' He took a swig from the bottle.
''And alcohol is going to help you find your answer?'' He kept his eyes trained on the book, flicking through the pages fast. ''Obviously'' He mumbled, his fingers swiping another page in the book. Sam stared at the boy who was concentrated and pondered.
''You know, your body's probably not going to take alcohol very nicely'' She snickered at the boy. ''I'm trying to read, Sam'' He spoke sternly. She raised her hands slightly in surrender and leaned her head against the wall behind her. She felt her eyes closing on themselves and fought to keep them open.
She crossed her arms over her chest and kept trying to keep her eyes open before she heard a quiet voice talking to her. ''You can sleep'' She turned her head towards the source of the voice. ''What?'' She questioned the boy next to her. ''You can sleep. It's not like I'm going anywhere anytime soon''
''How can I be certain of that?'' She narrowed her eyes slightly at him. He shrugged his shoulders and kept his eyes on hers. ''You'll just have to trust me'' She opened her mouth to speak, but a yawn escaped her instead. ''Fine'' She mumbled out, putting her head back on the wall.
She finally let her eyes rest and felt herself drifting off to sleep, but not before she felt a ghost of a kiss on her forehead.
The next thing Sam woke up to was the sound of laughter and the feeling of herself being light as a feather. Was this a dream? Her arms reached out to touch around her, the feeling of fabric catching between her fingers. She quickly jolted up and was met with an arm pushing her back down.
''Calm down, it's just me'' A familiar voice spoke out. She glanced up to see a familiar face, Diego. She looked around to see herself being carried in his arms, scooped up bridal style. She also saw a very drunk Five in Luther's arms, Five shifting around in his drunken sleep.
She finally acknowledged the man carrying her, by slapping her hands on his arms. ''Let me go'' She spat out. He quickly dropped her to the ground and she felt her backbone throb with pain. She slowly raised herself from the ground and rubbed the lower part of her back with her hand.
''I didn't mean literally'' She snarled at the Batman-like figure. ''Could have fooled me'' He rolled his eyes at the girl. She quickly caught up with the two other companions and they walked in simple silence for a few short minutes. The silence was cut short by the sound of Five's gaggings.
Luther quickly held his head up with his giant hand and Five opened his eyes to stare at the three of us. His gaze landed on Sam's and he gave her a goofy smile. ''You know what's funny?--'' He glanced at Luther. ''I'm going through puberty--'' He held an arm in the air. ''Twice!''
Diego scoffed at the boy and Luther just stared at him concerned, while Sam peered at him with amusement. Five's eyes met Sam's figure and she raised an eyebrow at him. ''Who's the pretty lady?'' Five pointed at her, giggling like a child. ''More like who's the Devil--'' Deigo spoke, looking at Sam.
''Oh, buzz off, cheap Batman'' She sneered at him. ''You can't just keep using the same insult over and over again, you know that right?'' He glared at the shorter girl. ''Watch me, Battie Wattie'' She mocked the man. Diego just rolled his eyes as a response.
Diego walked next to Sam, blocking Five's vision from her. ''Oh, no! Pretty lady is gone'' Five sniffed. ''I guess that's what happens when the world you love goes bye-bye!'' He laughed his loud ringing out through the street. Diego's head quickly snapped towards the boy. ''What do you mean?''
Five ignored his question and stared off into the street, watching as cars passed by. Diego quickly lost his short temper and rushed over to the side of the boy, slapping his cheek to gain his attention. Five's head whipped to Diego's face. ''What do you mean the world we love goes bye-bye?''
''What are you talking about?'' Five scrunched his face. ''You're weird'' Five lifted his upper body to scan Diego. He looks Diego up and down and starts laughing to himself. ''You remind me of a knock-off, Batman. Has anyone ever told you that?'' Five let out a drunk burp.
''I would have thought when he said the world goes ''Bye-bye'' He meant that it disappears, genius'' Sam rolled her eyes. ''Yeah, okay, no. You shut up--'' He pointed at Sam. ''And you start talking'' Five leaned his body weight into Luther. ''I was already talking''
''Yeah, well start making sense'' Diego scowled at the drunken boy. ''Now listen up'' He snapped his fingers in front of Five's face, gaining once more the boy's attention. ''Two masked intruders attacked the academy last night'' His eyes narrowed. ''They came looking for you, so I need you to focus'' He glared at the street in front of him. ''What do they want?''
Five let out a hiccup. ''Hazel and Cha-Cha'' He mumbled out, stuffing his face into Luther's arms. ''Who?'' Diego spoke out. ''You know I hate codenames'' Luther murmured. ''Ah, the best of the best--'' He glanced at Sam, who was already peering at him. ''Except for me of course''
The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes at his smugness. ''Best of what?'' Luther questioned. ''You know, Delores always said that she hated me when I drank--'' He flew his arms into the air. ''Said it made me surly'' He gave off a goofy smile. ''Hey!'' Diego snapped his fingers to Five's face once more.
Five hummed in response. ''I need you to focus. What do this Cha-Cha and Hazel want?'' Five only stared at him with the same goofy smile and Diego sighed in frustration. ''We just want to protect you, Five'' Five's eyes narrowed at the man.
''Protect me? I don't need your protection, Diego. Do you even have any idea of how many people I've killed?--'' He let out an unsettling laugh that made Luther visibly shutter and Diego step away from the boy. ''No, you don't. I'm the four freaking horsemen!'' He shouted out.
''And, trust me when I say this'' He leaned towards Diego. ''Not all of you are here to protect me'' His eyes darted towards Sam, and she only stared at him. The boys' gazes also following her figure.
''It seems as if the liquor is really hitting him now'' She spoke out calmly. ''Seems it'' Luther mumbled out, one hand plugging his nose. ''He reeks of alcohol'' Sam smiled, glad that Luther's density has finally come in handy. ''Agreed'' She nodded her head at the pair.
Diego only stared at the girl, mistrust overcoming his senses. But the feeling quickly left as soon as it came. He's known this girl for years, sure she could be a royal pain in her ass, but she's still the same girl he's always known.
She's Sam.

"five, will you be my boyfriend?" you said without thinking in a best way of asking this. his brows furrow. "oh lord, this is not what i meant... i mean, there is this boy and he’s stalking me and i need you to pretend to be my boyfriend so he’ll stop."
"are you kidding? why me?" he said drinking his coffee, but not tooking his smart eyes from you.
"oh believe me, if i had another option i wouldn’t ask you" you said sarcastically, but he looked offended somehow.
"do i need to know something about him before?"
"just that he was an asshole. we were in a relationship but now i don’t want anything and he keeps following me everywhere i go... and today i am goig to a party, so i thought..."
"yes. i will go with you, y/n" he rolled his eyes like it was the most difficult task someone asked him.
"yay!" you hugged him from excitment. "thank you brother"
"i am not your brother, y/n" he pulled away from your hug. you really didn’t understood why he acted such a jerk with you. he called allison his sister and klaus his brother. you all were a family but he seemed to really hate you for saying this.
"okay." you rolled your eyes. "i made some rules..." he laughed sarcastically.
"why do you always need to make the rules, y/n?"
"first rule: don’t be an asshole! this one will be so difficult for you, huh? second rule: no matter what, we´re not going to kiss"
"ew, this wasn’t at the plan anyways."
"rule number three: you have to pretend that you love me and only me." he smirked.
"let’s go party... my love" he said grabbing his jacket. you felt butterflies on your stomach, but this could be just anxiety.
when you arrived there, you noticed it would be a big party. it was filled with people and you saw rafe. the boy you were currently hating and you noticed that it was a terrible idea. rafe was super popular and you were a 'freak' like he used to say. "okay, we´re leaving now" you grabbed his arm but he didn´t move.
"y/n, let’s do this. the sooner we do this, the sooner it’s over." he said seriously and you agreed. at least you weren´t alone. "i´m going to take our drink." five went to the kitchen and you stood alone.
you were analyzing which were the closest exits in case something went wrong. but rafe stood in front of you. "y/n! i thought you wouldn’t come. you’re really pretty tonight"
"thanks rafe..." you said a little shy.
"why don’t we go upstairs so we can talk? the music here is loud."
"i’m fine here" you said but he looked so angry.
"oh, you are coming with me. right now" he said grabbing your arm agressively.
"any problem here?" five showed by your side. "take your drink, honey." he gave you a whiskey and left his arms around your waist. your heart was warm.
"you have company, huh?" rafe said.
"he is my..." you hesited not knowing if five would like to be called...
"boyfriend. nice to meet you." he completed for you and smiled to the boy. rafe wanted to punch his face, you could tell.
"nice to see you moved on, y/n. seeing he’s a freak just like you." rafe said.
"nice to see that you handled well with the breakup, man!" you could tell that five also wanted to punch his face, he was clenching his jaw - but he was trying his harder to look lovely. because in five’s mind you would date someone lovely. "hope you enjoy the party."
rafe leaved snorting. "thank you... that was really nice of you."
"i expected this boy was going to be prettier... honestly, y/n, you need glasses. you deserve better" he said trying to make you laugh. but you wanted to cry because five was perfect for you.
five grabbed your hand and placed them around his neck, while he guided you trough the slow dance. he looked so soft, with a small smile on his lips, big green eyes staring at yours. your heart was racing and you wished this wasn’t fake at all.
"they’re staring." you whispered.
"let them" he said pulling you closer. "you know... this is easier than i thought."
"this is against the rules, five" you said feeling like he could kiss you anytime by now.
"you always make the rules and i always break them." you could feel his coffee and whiskey breath. you couldn’t think straight right now, all of the people that were by your side suddenly disappeared. it was just y/n, five and that love flame that you always had.
he kissed you gently and softly. "it was always you, darling."
