Funny Moments In the HoL
Just little things that MC would totally share with their friends in the Human Realm.
- You all decided to play Hide & Seek (with a few rules about locations). The winner was Leviathan. He hid in a cooking pot and the only reason anyone found him is after everyone else was found, Beel got hungry and turned the pot on. Poor Levi’s tail had a burn for days.
- Mammon stole your D.D.D. once. He returned it with more selfies than Asmo takes of himself loaded in there. You saved the naughty ones for later.
- Beel accidentally ate a burger squeaky toy you got for Cerberus. The squeaker and all. He got the hiccups later that day and everyone laughed at the squeaking going off.
- Solomon spent the night with you and Asmo. Asmo kissed his head at one point and left a kiss mark in his hair with his lipstick. It took DAYS to wash out. You then borrowed Asmo’s lipstick and put the mark right back on your favorite sorcerer.
- You got a cute rat plush for yourself. Barbatos saw it and your room was unusable for a few days.
- The entire household caught a cold and everyone was miserable. So you all just watched a bunch of movies all cuddled together. Belphie promised Mammon that the movie ‘Cabin In The Woods’ wasn’t a horror movie. It was a romantic one, showing him the reviews for a movie called ‘The Lake House’. Poor Mammon hid under your blanket almost the whole movie.
- You introduced Asmo to Elton John. Asmo loved his fashion and you’ve seen some of the most ridiculous outfits known to man, angels, and demons alike. You saved the pictures.
- You lost a bet to Levi and had to wear a Ruri-chan cosplay to RAD. This backfired because Levi couldn’t focus all day and took way too many pictures.
- You proposed a talent show to Diavolo. You regretted it almost immediately. The Little D’s, while great dancers, are HORRIBLE singers! They looked adorable though.
- You have discovered that Satan headbutts you when he wants attention. He accidentally did it with his horns once. Thank Diavolo they only slightly tore your clothes. But your arm was sore for weeks. Luke and Lucifer chastized him over the bruise.
- Lucifer bought a second motorized wheelchair. It’s not needed. No. He bought it so that you guys could all have wheelchair races.
- You sang the song ‘My R’ and the house was MASS PANIC! Everyone was so worried about you and you had to explain that no, you’re not depressed, you just like the song. No. Liking the song doesn’t mean I’m depressed. Really guys. I promise I’m OK. It took a LOT of convincing, but they eventually realized you were actually OK. They still made you go talk to Simeon just as a precaution. Simeon was just... very confused, but was glad you were OK.
- You mentioned to Asmo that pole dancing is a form of working out. Asmo INSTANTLY bought two dance poles. They lasted less than a day because the moment you tried to use it with Asmodeus, the house lost their shit. Lucifer had to get rid of them for your (hips) well being.
- Belphie one time fell asleep in the bathroom. You walked in and found him standing near the sink, head under the faucet as it ran. You took a picture and then helped him.
- Luke went sniffing around your room and found a vibrator. You told him it was a personal massager and he asked if he could use it to massage his back. You told him no and to not poke around your room like that again. You explained this to Simeon who turned beet red... and then asked to see the vibrator himself... Just so that he can make to avoid Luke seeing such things again. Obviously.

match made in heaven | Alex Walter
Tumblr media
pairing: Alex Walter x female!reader
show: My life with the Walter boys
warnings: just kissing word count: 2,2k
summary: At your birthday party you get dared to spend 7 minutes in heaven with none other than your best friend Alex.
a/n: A modified review of "Beautiful boy" Thank you @rogueanschel-reads for the woderful idea!
Tumblr media
"Come on, even a stranger can sense your attraction for each other, the hidden love that lays beneath your friendship."
Maybe it wasnt the best idea to play truth or dare.
Well, firstly I want to say that I love my friendgroup. Grace, Skylar, his boyfriend Nathan, Kiley and of course, my best friend Alex.
Really, I love these guys. But sometimes they make me want to jump off a cliff, no regretting or turning back.
In moments like this, where I want to spent a good time partying with my friends, because its my 16th birthday, they need to remind me of the he-who-must-not-be-named-topic. That means for outstanders, my non-existent, strictly friendly feelings for my best friend Alex.
The guy, who has absolutely no idea, he's being compared to Voldemort. But for the matter of fact, Harry Potter are my all-time favorite movies and early Voldemort was actually quiet handsome. So, it kinda makes sense. Why? Because Alex has put a spell on me with his smile and his pretty face.
But back to my party.
We are currently in the living room, our knees are touching the legs of the person next to us and someone (Grace) encouraged us to smuggle a few bottles of alcohol to the party, even though we didnt plan to drink.
Now, Skylar had the great idea to embarrass everyone by playing truth or dare, but with a twist. He likes to call it "match made in heaven" or what it actually means, making out in a closet. Something like that, I've never participated in any of these games.
Until now.
As I am the birthday girl, I started the game by choosing truth. But I could really have just voluntarily confessed my feelings for Alex. Because Grace winked at me and I knew at that moment, that the next few minutes meant trouble.
"So, y/n. Describe us your magical boy, that you dream of being able to call your own." I knew it. She could have just asked me what college I wanted to attend or something less embarrassing, but no. She needed to ask me about my type in boys, which obviously is my handsome, brown haired best friend next to me.
As I'm about to hide my head in my hands, I hear the encouraging shouts of the people I call my friends.
"Okay, okay. Let me think for a moment." I couldnt make it that obvious, I liked him. But still, it was worth a try.
"Someone who has an angelic smile, where you just stare at his face and can´t stop looking at him. I-I like brown hair and I dont know, what it is, but hazel eyes, they somehow make my heart beat faster. I mean- he´s attractive, because he is a gentleman. Caring and supportive, someone who listens to my wants and needs, but still continues to be his true self. I can read books with him or we watch movies together and talk about it after. He makes me feel seen, safe. I love him, because he is everything I could ever dream of and more."
When I finish speaking, Grace grins innocent and looks at me with her long eyelashes. "I wonder, who that could be."
My eyes secretly dart to Alex, trying to figure out, if he knows, that I am very obviously describing him. But he just watches the floor, his eyebrows are drawn together and I almost think, he looks annoyed.
"Someone is jealous" I hear Skylar´s voice in my ear.
As the game went on, his behavior kept being slightly off, even though he never said anything about it and continued to smile at me, when we looked at each other.
And then, Alex was asked about his favorite memory, whether it was about being in school, with family or with friends.
Well, he told them about the first time, he introduced me to his favorite book saga, the Lord of the Rings. I never knew, that day was so special for him, but as he described my hilarious reactions and facial features, how he saw my eyes widen with disbelief as he read out the first chapters, I remembered.
When I look back, it really was a wonderful night. We did a sleepover at his house and were talking about watching Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. Somehow, we also talked about the books and that I read the seven books about the famous wizard and he the books about the elves and other creatures (don´t judge me for this description). We discussed almost every aspect, but he still convinced me to give his favorite books a try. So we spent the night spread out on his bed, eating sweets and reading the first book. Well, he mostly read it out loud to me, because his pronunciation was definitely much better than mine. It was fun, also because I got to watch him being in his element, so it really was a heartwarming evening.
I smile at the memory, a warm feeling blooms in my chest and when he finishes talking about it, he looks at me fondly. I had to keep myself from wanting to giggle like a little girl, but my inner 13-year old, most definitely did giggle.
Back to the original topic. Next, Grace was dared to wear one of my clothes, Kiley told us about her celebrity crush (Timothee Chalamet, but you didnt hear it from me) and when Alex was asked who he would trust with his secret, if he was spiderman, he mentioned me again. It was sweet and I had planned to tell him, that I would love to be the girl in the chair.
But, as the game went on, my name constantly fell from his lips. He was dared to show one of the most terrible photos of him and revealed to the group, a snapshot from us, wearing unrecognizable Halloween costumes. Funny, but my idea to go as ghosts wasnt that bad.
Nevertheless, he talked about the best gift he had ever received, a pair of cowboy boots, I got him two years ago (Nathan was playfully annoyed that one of his presents werent the best one) and as the game continued, the question, that I tried my best to avoid, was eventually asked.
"You two are always around each other and I've barely seen you apart, like ever. Are you sure, there is nothing going on between you? It seems like it."
Alex and I looked at each other, but then quickly laughed it off. It was what we always did, when someone asked us about our close friendship. None of us really answered and that meant for me, that he neither confirmed or declined having feelings for me. Very confusing and bad for my hoping heart.
So, when our friends are looking at each other now, grinning like they planned something really wicked, I know, that my personal hell is waiting for me. Or in my situation, a modified version of heaven.
"Y/n, I dare you to play seven minutes in heaven with just your best friend Alex." Grace is smiling in front of me and when I want to debate about it, she cuts me off.
"But I havent said I would take dare-" my words are going silent and I only hear my pounding heart.
"You always choose truth, that´s boring. You get the dare now, so stand up and cuddle with your wizard!"
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Alex holds his hands out for me, so he can help me stand up. He silently looks at me and I try to assure him by smiling, but I think I´m failing at it. Because he looks as unnerved as I feel right now.
When we walk out of the room and into the small storage room, we hear Skylar´s distance shouting.
"No lights and close the door! That are the rules, we set the timer!"
Why was I friends with them again?
When we approach the room, unlocking the door and stepping inside, we are suddenly surrounded by darkness. And when he closes my only way to escape, its quiet for a moment. Then, I hear is curious voice.
"What did Grace mean about your wizard?"
I relax and gently laugh. Nothing has to happen, everything is fine.
"That you are as bad at keeping secrets than Draco. Harry really found out on the first day in 6th grade, that something was clearly up with him."
Alex groans. "Please no more talking about your Drarry shipping. I get it, it could have been an enemies-to-lovers romance."
I smack his arm, taking a step closer to him.
"Okay, what would you like to talk about instead?"
I can make out the outlines of his face in the darkness, seeing how he also takes a step closer. I feel myself breathing heavily and my hands nervously shaking.
"I think, that I should keep you warm, because I literally see your hands shaking." When he takes another step in my direction, I hold my breath and in the same second, I feel his arms wrap around me.
His hands find their way to my back, embracing me in his warmth until I feel him breathing on my neck. I need to stop myself from shivering at this feeling.
"I can work with that." I whisper, snuggling into his chest and closing my eyes. I hear his racing heart and immediately need to smile.
"Your heart is beating very fast." His chin rests on my head, I feel him holding me closer.
"It´s the darkness." Of course, it is.
When I also close my arms around his waist, I feel for the first time a kind of inner peace, that I read about in books.
When a character feels safe in the embrace of their beloved.
Silence surrounds us for a minute and I begin to thank Grace for her dare, because him holding me in his arms und me, hugging him, is much more than wonderful.
"When you call me a wizard, do I get to call you a witch?" I burst out a laughter at his question.
"Only if you won´t compare me to Umbridge." He nods quietly.
"You are as far away from being like Umbridge as the earth is away from the moon. So, you don´t have to worry."
"Good." We are silent again.
"So, have you ever thought about what you would do, if you would get to spent time with a person, when you have seven minutes in heaven?" I think for a few seconds, before I answer him.
"I always imaged this game as a way to confess feelings or solving a fight. Maybe a hidden chance to make out too, I guess."
I hear him taking a deep breath, not expecting much. Until-
"Can I kiss you?" My knees almost give out.
"You what-?" I turn to look at him. Noticing his widen pupils.
"I mean, would you, um, want to kiss. Like, me. Now. Not that you need to, but you sounded like you would want that experience, so-" he tries to hold a stable voice, but I can sense, that he's slowly freaking out.
"Alex. You just asked me, if we should kiss."
I can´t believe it.
"...yes?" He sounds so sincere.
"Why?" I ask, while continue to look at him, feeling every centimeter that divides our lips from touching.
"Like I said, I don´t want you to miss out on anything."
Silence.
"Okay and maybe I just wanted an excuse to kiss you, before that dream boy of yours does."
I lean forward, watching as his eyes keep looking at my lips, even though he tries to hold the eye contact.
I slowly raise my hand and place it on the back of his neck, caressing the dark hair and twirling a few strands.
"Are you jealous, pretty boy?" I feel his cheeks getting warm, seeing the effect my words have on him.
His hands hold me tighter and a startled expression is shown on his face.
"What? Me, jealous? No." I raise my eyebrows at him.
He signs. "Maybe. I dont like the thought of someone else with you." His thumb brushes over my lips.
"Kissing you, touching you. It just doesnt feel right, that someone else would do that."
"You mean, someone who isnt you?" I look at his lips and he hums quietly. His hand slowly wanders to my chin and directs my head closer to him, I can feel his breath on my skin.
"We don´t have to do it-" I begin to talk, but then again, when he speaks up, his voice sounds out of breath, like he's holding himself back.
"No, it´s just one...little...kiss" his voice becomes quieter, the less distance there is between our faces.
And with one, last look, he catches my lips in a slow kiss. Keeping me close to him, by holding onto my waist. His hands find their way to my cheeks, caressing them with his fingers and I feel my heart pounding as prominent against my chest as feel him kissing me.
I don't notice, that he's directing me back until I gently hit the wall, while his hands slowly explore my sides. My hands tangle in his hair, tugging him closer, so I can feel everything of him.
And in that moment, I understand the name of the game. Because this truly feels like heaven.
When I notice, that I can´t breath anymore (but who needs oxygen when you can have Alex Walter), we gently break apart. Still holding onto each other.
And as soon as we catch our breath, both of us are smiling at each other and we share our feelings without a word.
"That was-" he doesnt get to finish his sentence, because in a blink of an eye, the door opens and brightness consumes us.
We quickly break apart, but apparently too late, because Grace´s voice is the first one to tease us.
"Right, you are just friends."
You can imagine, what the entire evening after that was like...

I find your analysis on the Disney movie “Wish” movie rather interesting. The fact that there are actually a considerable amount of Christians working on Disney movies is actually really cool. I heard from people that the concept art for the movie was “better” than the movie itself and I was curious about your thoughts if its fine by you. I actually have no intention in watching the movie, but I am interested in the reviews. I personally find the idea of a villain couple really interesting and unique. Star having the ability to shape-shift into a humanoid would be interesting too, especially since the movie already has the goat for a marketable toy. Thank you for reading my ask!
Here is a screenshot of a YouTube video about the concept art:
Tumblr media
I totally agree that basically anything would’ve been better than what we got. I think having Star be a character that Asha can actually talk to and have a human interaction with would’ve been great.
If they wanted to have a heroine who believed in everyone getting to have the chance to make their wishes come true for themselves, they needed to explain where that idea comes from. Having her realize that that’s what she believes, out loud, in preachy exposition during a two-minute interaction where she suddenly understands that King Magnifico doesn’t grant everybody’s wishes, (why all of a sudden? She’s lived her whole life in Rosas. She knows Wish Granting Ceremonies only happen once a month—didn’t she or anybody else ever think “hey why doesn’t he give them back if they’re not going to be granted this month?” But I digress) fell totally flat in the movie.
They should’ve given us a background for Asha, or at least hinted at how she came to be the bright, blandly-caring character they keep telling us over and over that she is.
Tumblr media
They started to, with the mention of her dad. But it was super halfhearted and undercooked. Who was her dad? What was it about him that supposedly inspired her to care about everyone’s wishes getting granted? If it was the fact that she wished he would not die of illness, and it didn’t happen, and she doesn’t want anyone else to “feel grief” (which is an iffy message, but whatever) then show that to us. Show us evidence of how much her dad meant to her beyond her sketchbook drawings. Maybe he was an inventor and he lived by the philosophy of making life better for the people of Rosas. Maybe he came to Rosas when he was a child, because his family home had been destroyed, and they took him in and treated him so kindly that he spent the rest of his life trying to return the favor by creating new toys and tools that the people of Rosas could use to better their lives—and he taught his daughter to feel that same level of “care for the people” that he did before he died! Then, when she realizes Magnifico came from a similar background as her father and chooses to protect wishes instead of risking them destroyed, she would have an opposite role model in the memory of her father, who chose to work toward wishes even though he’d had his own destroyed at a young age.
But no. There’s none of that shown. Just a throwaway conversation, where the characters just outright say, “Your father was a philosopher always talking about the stars; he used to say the stars were there to guide us and make us believe in possibility!”
But if they had a Star character that shapeshifted into a human?
Tumblr media
Suddenly, an alternative to Magnifico’s magic takes shape in the form of a person, with his own set of beliefs and a worldview that could directly inspire and change Asha’s.
It would have been better for her character development to have m than a mute icon to interact with. It would have been better for appeal, too. Instead of just…talking out loud and using exposition to outright say what’s going on in her head, like she’s Batman in an old comic strip narrating everything she thinks about, she could’ve had someone to converse with, argue with, be convinced by.
She starts the movie wanting everyone’s wish to come true, for no well-demonstrated, compelling, human reason. And then she ends the movie still wanting everyone’s wish to come true. There’s no well-done character arc. The only thing she learns from Star is that she has his same power if she really believes she can use it. (But like I said, she’s never shown doubting herself in any real way in the movie before meeting him, aside from nerves before an interview, if you can call that self-doubt.)
But if he’d been human? She could’ve been different. She could’ve started out the movie with the seeds of someone who can work toward her dream and take risks, but maybe tragedy from losing her father has made her pessimistic and she no longer “believes.” But then Star, he can come and wake back up those feelings. People are more inspired by a person who teaches them something through a human relationship (like Rapunzel teaching Flynn to want something more than a life of ease alone, or Jasmine teaching Aladdin that royalty can make you feel trapped too if you’re always having to pretend to be something you’re not) than they are by a pet-like, silent glowing ball with a “loving light.”
I wonder what their idea was. Maybe the Star she wishes on is the youngest star in the heavens. Maybe the “stars” are a community of watchers—they all chronicle human lives as stories, and when people need those stories most, the stars remind them and inspire them of why it’s good to dream and take risks. But Star? He’s young, and he naively believes that the stars should do more, fix every problem that mortals have, and so he breaks the rules and comes to earth to help Asha when she wishes on him.
Obviously there’s got to be some limit on his power, and some thematic indication that Star was wrong; you shouldn’t do all the work for people and give them whatever will make them happy in the moment. They need to work for it themselves. So maybe he was slowly getting weaker and losing his power the longer he was on Earth, but didn’t realize it or didn’t worry about it.
Anyway, he’s determined to help Asha with whatever she’s wishing for, but she (kind of like Tiana,) really just wished on him in a moment of vulnerability, and is usually pretty pessimistic. Maybe she almost-instantly gets in trouble with the King for Star’s appearance, and regrets wishing on him.
Either way, they have a difference in views; Star is a hopeful, bright guy who believes mortals can achieve anything they set their mind to if they try, and that’s why he believes in helping them—Asha is a pessimistic teen who’s faith got strangled by tragedy, but he starts inspiring her to keep trying anyway. Eventually Star and she, even though they become friends, reach a low point or failure in the adventure, and they have their big argument, and Asha starts to backtrack and go back into believing “there’s no point in wishing on stars—it’s crazy to think anything will get better; I’m not going to take any more risks, I’ll lose what little I have left.” and Star learns his lesson; yes, mortals can achieve their dreams, but there has to be a part of them that wants to work for it and has faith; he can’t do that part for them. He can’t just positivity-talk her into it.
And then maybe the King captures him and Asha has to take action again or lose him forever, and doing that teaches her that she’d rather try than live a life of no wishing, or whatever—
—Again, I’m not meaning to do rewrites here. I think the main point of the movie was flawed or too vague to begin with, but I DO think they could’ve made something that was at least interesting, even if the main point was problematic. And the concept art proves it, yeah. Thanks!

cieloooo I've come to maybe beg for some more ideas your wretched horror movie geto au if u are willing to share.... 🥺
oh twist my arm why don’t you niku!!!
hehe yes..,.i will share more ideas from this wip..,..,putting this under a read more bc it got too long
the way i’m mostly just talking about set up too…..SILLINESS. i wish i could write this au in 3 hours and show you what i mean. alas…..
cw: bad power dynamics
the premise is that getou (though rather young for this career) has become a pretty accredited and beloved horror movie director/writer. bit of a cult following. maybe not a household name, per se, but anyone who enjoys film a bit more than average would recognize his name and his films
he elicits strong opinions; some abhor his work. some adore it.
his films are known for being deeply disturbing and strangely sexual. most feel like an erotic fever dream. gripping, stunning, and horrible is what most of his reviews entail.
then, of course, there is his leading man; satoru gojo. started as an indie darling doing psychological thrillers and dramas; he and getou go aaalll the way back to university together, where they first met. getou asked gojo to star in his third film, which is the one that took off the most and put both massively on the map. gojo has been in just around half of getou’s films. getou likes to use him a great deal; he thinks that there can be something rather unnerving and powerful about gojo’s performances, if you know how to capture him right
(of course getou thinks only he can capture gojo just right on camera)
gojo, for his own credit, has been called the actor of a generation. a rare gem; the best of the best and anticipated to have an incredible career.
and then you enter the scene; a stage actor with little experience on camera except the two roles in a short film and pilot episode that didn’t go far
getou saw you in an adaption of a tragedy on stage; howling and bloody and crawling across the apron and down into the audience aisles like a wild thing
(he’d fallen in love then, maybe. or, at least, he knew he had to have you. for him, it might as well be the same thing)
he finds you after the show. calls your performance visceral. raw. refreshing. he’d like to keep in touch.
you think little of it, except as a reminder to check out his most recent film again. gojo is in it. you watch alone. you hardly sleep that night.
then, months later, he’s asking you to audition for his upcoming film. he needs a lead.
(once he’d seen you, he could only picture you as the role—rewrote moments just for you. for him.)
and suddenly you’re doing chemistry reads with gojo. tests and audition reels.
after your audition is complete, they both watch you back on the camera with gojo your opposite in the scene, the way you look up at him, eyes alight. you’re bursting at the seams. getou just needs to capture it right. in the scene, gojo’s hand settles on the side of your head, easing so your neck crooks, then the rest of your body tips to his command as you ragdoll. your eyes roll.
“visceral,” getou says again, watching you move like a strange puppet at gojo’s command. it’s eerie; disjointed and uncanny. it’s perfect for what he’s thinking. “she’s visceral.”
needless to say, you get the role.
and begins your own form of horror, caught between these two, in strange sets and odd scenes.
intimate scenes and gross scenes and erotic scenes
scenes where getou gets close and murmurs to the two of you. it’s strangely embarrassing. he says filthy things to the two of you, to try and coax you to new emotions or moments
it’s unprofessional
it’s…hypnotic.
gojo is your constant partner. getou your ever-present voyeur.
in the movie, gojo has command over your character, but on set, getou commands both of you like his own puppets.
you lose yourself.
getou will be the one to find you

My Review of Mutant Mayhem
Tumblr media
Warning: SPOILERS
The animation was AMAZING!! From the colors to the facial expressions to the fight choreography, it all looks so good!
It took me a while for me to get used to the Turtles designs and voices but after finally seeing the movie and watching them talk and move, I can say now that I do love them, though I'm still not crazy about Raph's design…
If you know me then you know I'm not too big of a fan of the idea of Splinter not being a human at all, but for this movie it makes sense as to why he was always a rat and never human. Him being a rat from the start and hating humans ties in with the movies message about being accepted and even has a little connection/parallel with the main villain Superfly. I am still kind of upset that Splinter has no connection to Hamato Yoshi (that we know of rn).
Another reason why I don’t like the idea of Splinter never being a human or Hamato Yoshi is because I feel like it takes away the ninja aspect of their story, but the way they explain why they’ve ninjas was actually hilarious. Splinter and the boys learned how to be ninjas through YouTube tutorials, which makes so much sense for this day and age with how many people claim they are experts at something simply because they read or watch something online.
Leo was my favorite turtle in this movie, I loved his personality/character and how serious but dorky he was. He’s trying so hard, I love his hopeless romantic side, and how he wants to listen to his dad but also have fun with his brothers, so he’s stuck in a tug or war with himself. He was precious and I love him.
Leo having a crush on April actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. His crush on her was genuinely sweet and it wasn't shoved down our throats like in other versions *cough* 2012 & Bayverse *cough* I like that he asks her to prom, which I thought was very cute and a nice ending for Leo.
I'm surprised how quickly they killed off Baxter Stockman, but his "son" Superfly was a really cool villain to take his place. Ice Cube did an amazing job! But I’m not full convinced Stockman is dead. There’s no evidence that he’s still alive but knows. Maybe they’ll pull an 03 Stockman and make come back as a robot in the sequel.
The other mutants were also really fun, but I wish they had more screen time. And truth I felt like they added too many Mutants and I felt like a few of them could've been removed from the film but overall they were a fun cast!
Mondo Gecko and Mikey instantly becoming besties was nice. And I loved Bebop and Rocksteady's Bromance.
Mikey twerking was NOT needed in this film.
I like how the "milking" joke actually came full circle when the turtles were kidnapped by Cynthia.
Splinter vs the TCRI soldiers was my second favorite part of the movie, The animation was so well done in the choreography of the fight was amazing and had great detail.
My overall favorite part was the sequence of the Turtles confronting each one of Superfly’s leads. How the scene would sync up and cut back-and-forth to each brother fighting different gang members. The music during the scene was so well done and the animation with how it tied in with each brother was peak cinema.
April’s little arc of getting over being camera shy was cool and actually helped save the Turtles and NYC. But the April puking joke went on for too long. The fact they showed it longer than I excepted felt wrong.
I’m happy that Splinter got a girlfriend by the end but please don’t ever show us him making out with Scumbug ever again. *flashbacks to 2012 Raph making out with an ant*
My favorite joke was when the Turtles were like “Eventually Superfly will run out of cars to throw at us, right??” *Superfly turns to see he’s right new to a parking garage* LMFAO XD
There was a lot of modern day references and slang in this movie and a lot of people say this movie is gonna be outdated in 5-10 years but I feel that’s gonna be part of the movies charm. We’ll have to see in 5-10 years…
Superfly’s mutant army (Mondo Gecko, Bebop, Rocksteady, Leatherhead etc) got redeemed way too quick. All it took was one heartfelt speech and suddenly they weren’t down to kill all humans. Like they seemed really excited about it during the bowling scene?? Gave me Shrek 3 vibes. I was confident that Mondo Gecko was gonna change but all of them was unexpected but I’m happy regardless by the end that the Turtles have a bigger family.
I loved the sequence of the people of New York helping the Turtles and their mutant friends stop Superfly. I feel we’ve never seen that done before and in truth, New Yorkers ramming their cars into a giant kaiju Superfly IS something New Yorkers would do! XD
The ending I did not expect, the Turtles actually being excepted by all of New York, and actually getting to go to high school. This was so new and fresh, and I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to see more of it in the TV show and the sequel.
Also there’s a mid credit scene.
It starts off very cute with the Turtles doing high school shenanigans: Mikey in joining improv, Donnie with his “people” (lol), Raph joining the wrestling team, Leo and April starting a conspiracy vlog, and finally them at prom, but then it cuts to Cynthia, who it’s revealed she is secretly watching them. She talks to her second in command about wanting to catch the Turtles and get revenge. She then basically says that she “knows a guy” that can help and it cuts to a shot of someone outside the city….
SHREDDER IS COMING
But sadly no Casey…

Bruce Wayne on the Muppet Show
Okay we have a headcanon that Bruce Wayne would be amazing with the Muppets on a talk show. And people have posted that he would get along with Miss Piggy.
Something to remember: Batman has existed for nearly a hundred years. And he had comics around the time that the Muppet Show aired. So let's go back to the 1980s.
Before Crisis on Infinite Earths, Dick and Bruce had a great relationship, and he became Nightwing during the Judas Contract era. So Dick is preparing to retire the Robin role, but promising that it won't be forever.
Of course, Bruce understands. He helped raise this kid. A part of him is relieved that he won't have to worry about supervillains targeting Robin until Dick is ready to return. But he is going to miss having the Boy Wonder by his side. Both Alfred and Dick notice the sadness in his smile of congratulations.
Dick reveals he arranged a special birthday present for Bruce: a guest spot on the Muppet Show! Wayne Enterprises made a huge donation to Jim Henson Productions, and asked if they could do an episode with the elusive bachelor and Gotham City's wealthiest. He knows that Bruce has been watching the shows to wind down between cases, as a reward when they foil a kidnapping or make a child smile. Alfred also let slip that Bruce would sometimes watch Sesame Street, as it aired about nine years earlier.
Bruce wants to demur, to give the spot to a small celebrity or musician. There is work to be done in Gotham City. Dick promises that he, Barbara and Superman have it covered. There's Batwoman and Flamebird, but of course Batman and Robin don't want to think about them. But in any case, Bruce has earned this. And he can use the occasion to raise more charity for Gotham's crime victims.
Gotham will be fine. Bruce Wayne can be Bruce for a night. He just has to fly to the set, film for a few hours, and fly back. It won't even be a day. Batman does ask who will be Batman in case someone gets suspicious. Dick smiles and says leave that to him.
Bruce maintains the aura of a carefree playboy. He reviews the script with the writers, and admits he is awed to shake hands with Frank Oz and Jim Henson. His intellectual mind observes the mechanics in the workshop, thinking what he can add to his utility belt. He does ask to make some changes.
After the episode airs, people talk about the highlights. They didn't know that Bruce Wayne could sing or dance, as he closes the show with a duet of Gonzo's song from the Muppet Movie. Gonzo is there as well, and they are close while singing "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday." He also performs Billy Flynn's solo from Chicago with Miss Piggy in the chorus line, and people learn that Bruce Wayne has studied his Bob Fosse dance moves.
Gossip columnists will wonder why Bruce is single, with all these qualities. He is perfect in every sense of the word, apart from the obliviousness when he wanders into the Swedish Chef's kitchen. Several flying fish smack him in the face, jumping in their escape from a fish soup.
What brings down the house, though? A one-on-one interview with Kermit, as is standard for guests. Bruce talks about his life in Gotham, how he has been privileged to raise a young man as his son. Kermit asks if that's why he's not married, that he's looking for the perfect stepmother. Bruce gives a coy smile and says that it's because he wants to marry a woman who can beat him in combat. Miss Piggy sidles in to offer her phone number, as well as a dojo. Bruce tucks it into his coat pocket and tells her, "Call me!" as Kermit shoos her away.
But that is not the punchline. Kermit asks Bruce if it's true that he lives in the same city as Batman. Bruce says that it's true, and Batman has even rescued him a few times. (Recently, a criminal had tried taking Bruce Wayne hostage and it hadn't ended well for him. He's still recuperating in the Arkham hospital wing.) Kermit says if he would like to take a photo with Batman. Deadpan, Bruce asks if it will be black-and-white or color. After all, he is rather underdressed in his three-piece suit.
The script says that a Muppet will come in dressed as Batman. For the first few takes, they have Sweetums dressed in a Bat costume. Then there is one, however, where Gonzo comes in dressed as a little bat and tries speaking in a gravelly voice. He declares he is the protector of Gotham City.
No one has ever reported Bruce Wayne laughing, EVER. Sure he has chuckled at interviews or gave polite smiles. But he actually breaks down laughing for a full minute at Gonzo, and it is iconic. Decades later, on YouTube, you can look up "Bruce Wayne Muppets" and it is the top result. People will comment that they didn't realize rich people could be fun.
Bruce suspects that Dick put the Muppet crew up to it. He can take a good joke, though, and insists that he, Dick and Alfred watch the television premiere. Of course criminals interrupt, this time the Joker with a rubber chicken scheme, but Alfred knows how to record to cassettes.
Wayne Enterprises still donates to the Muppets, to make sure they don't get bought by corporate interests. Because while Gotham needs heroes, the world always needs laughter.

I have seen Gavroche the Musical and maybe that's why I can't sleep
Spoilers under the cut though this is NOT a coherent review post , it's gonna be long and confusing like the musical itself HEYOOOOO and somehow have spoilers so. here we go
this show...is definitely a show
seriously all the songs are very "Musical! The Musical!!" you know?
The Thenardiers are running a welfare scheme
ignoring that this is genuinely straight up right wing propaganda about how welfare works, yeah ok they would run any grift but
their whole "fraudulent scheme" consists of trying to convince ...canon era social workers? Aid for Dependent Children? IDEK-- that they are Super Poor and have children to feed and they need help
And ?!? they ARE super poor! They DO have children to feed! Their welfare scheme is just applying for welfare that they definitely need
They do this by kicking Eponine and Azelma out so the Social Services People...of 1832...will only see the momes
which if anything means they are applying for less welfare than they are entitled to
but the song is in minor key and the Ts are transparently bad parents so this is supposed to be Evil somehow , and we're all supposed to cheer when the cops arrest them and then do not help the kids at all
It's hare to tell because the costuming in the version I saw was very haphazard but I think the cops?? were only posing as social workers? So they could arrest the Ts for a totally different crime? But we're still supposed to cheer when they arrest the parents because haha , they were poor and bad! Who do they think they are, asking for *checks notes* financial aid they are entirely entitled to have?
the cops are the good guys?? sort of?? they keep showing up to arrest the Ts and the show always frames it as a good thing
the revolutionaries...are also the good guys
I was very unclear on how the revolutionaries died but hilariously they ALL die, even Marius , because there's no Valjean in this
oh yeah, there's no Valjean, no onscreen Cosette, and no named Javert, though there are cop characters who could be Javert
there IS Mabeuf, and Eponine goes to him for info about Marius, but the show seems to think he's called "Father" Mabeuf for religious reasons, oh no
I was also unclear about what they were fighting for, which is an absolute trip when this was an uprising with an exceptionally clear and direct purpose ("MONARCHY BAD, REMOVE MONARCH BY FORCE IF NECESSARY")
I was VERY clear on the momes naming themselves Grizzly and Croissant
I am not gonna forget that possibly ever , my loved ones will gather round me and I'll murmur " but those names...are so bad...they aren't even easy to use in...a song" and Perish and my last thoughts will be of frigging Gavroche The Musical , a dire fate
Azelma and the momes live and go to America alone?? and have a great life?? does anyone remember what happened in the book. Does anyone remember what was happening in the US in this time period?? certainly THIS musical does not!
It is pretty directly stated that Grizzly and/or Croissant came back to Paris to tell his family's story--which, I gotta say, he has no way to know since most of it happened when he wasn't around and no one survived to tell him about it -- and became the tour guide in the first scene
but the tour guide in the first scene showed them the Gavroche statue
..that statue went up in 1904
This is Love Never Dies levels of Timelines Happening
Gavroche the Musical 2 is gonna be about Gavroche running an amusement park on coney island
ngl I'd watch that
I haven't covered HALF the things About the Show
I gotta apologize to action movies for making fun of "well THAT happened" dialogue because truly. It IS an emotion, and it's the one I'm feeling now.

Wish (2023)
Tumblr media
Since I’ve been hearing so many mixed reviews I had to see this movie for myself
🚨***CAUTION SPOILERS ***🚨
I watched the trailer when it was released and like most people I was really questioning the animation BUT I tried to keep an open mind
I also wasn’t sure exactly what the plot was aside from “Evil king is greedy on who’s wishes get grant”
ALRIGHT ON TO THE REVIEW
Now it starts off as a storybook intro
The king Magnifico is the only one in the kingdom who’s able to use magic and grant wishes
Every month he does a wish granting ceremony for the citizens of the kingdom
The main character Asha is in the running of becoming the kings apprentice which is a nice change from another princess story
She wants to help make people’s wishes come true (especially her grandfather Sabino who just turned 100 but hasn’t gotten his wish granted)
Now this is where more of the whole “wish” concept gets explained
When Magnifico takes a persons wish they forget what their wish was. So Sabino doesn’t know what exactly his wish is
A persons wish gets taken either when they turn 18 or if they officially join the kingdom
Asha ask if her grandpas wish can be granted and is immediately shut down by Magnifico
Asha finds out that Magnifico has to approve of any wish that gets granted and Sabinos wish is considered to broad
His wish is to inspire the future generations and Magnifico argues that since there’s nothing specific he wants to inspire then the wish won’t be granted
In fact most wishes won’t be granted
This prompts Asha to question why Magnifico doesn’t just return the wishes so that people will remember them and work yo make them real on their own
Obviously Magnifico being the evil control freak he is hates the idea so Asha is officially out of the running for apprentice
Asha is upset but doesn’t give up and tries to tell her Sabino his wish
He gets upset that she’s disobeying the king and revealing that his wish will never be granted
Asha runs into the woods and wishes on a star which releases this light (?) over the whole kingdom
I have to hand it to Ariana DeBose because she did an amazing job with the songs in this movie
She was the only part I knew I’d love
After he wish is when star appears
Star wants to help Asha release the wishes and starts granting the wishes of the animals around her including her pet goat Valentino
Even though I was skeptical about the animation it all worked really well during the musical numbers
The colors were vibrant and reminded me of the older Disney animation so it was great to see
It still looked a little off during talking scenes but overall not bad
Magnifico realizes someone has made a wish and tries to hunt Asha down
Returning to the kingdom Asha gets her friends to help her get back into the Kings study so Star can grant Sabinos wish
Asha gets the wish back to her grandpa who is overjoyed to learn what his wish was
At this point Magníficos guards arrive to arrest them but they escape to a nearby island
Magnifico has resulted to using dark magic in order to maintain control
He realized he could harness the power of peoples wishes and starts stealing the wishes of people who questioned him
Asha gets betrayed by one of her friends but the others still decide to help her
Queen Amaya also switched to her side after seeing how corrupt Magnifico has become
The group attempts to release all the wishes but are overpowered by Magnifico
Asha inspires everyone in the kingdom to make their own wishes and overpower Magnifico
Once again the scene where Magnifico is about to lose really shows how well this animation style can work
The shapes and colors coming off the staff blend the 2D and 3D really nice and makes his defeat really fun to watch
Amaya becomes the sole ruler of the kingdom and everyone works towards making their wishes a reality on their own
Asha is given a magic wand by Star who later returns to the sky
Now did I love it ? No
Was it as awful as people say? No
The animation was lacking in areas but the musical sequences still held up and I really liked the blending of the two styles
The story itself felt a little rushed in areas but it wasn’t to bad
Magnifico as a villain was alright
I could tell they were trying to channel Scar and the Evil Queen especially during his song
It wasn’t bad but he felt very silly. I mean Scar was a sarcastic slightly dramatic villain but he was an overall serious and threatening presence
Magnifico was just an already douchey guy who got to much power and became even worse. Not very threatening but very showy
And this movie has a lot of callbacks to older Disney movies
A LOT OF CALLBACKS
I personally didn’t mind most of it but they kept pushing the fairy godmother thing which I thought was weird and a little random
They even gave her a cape that looked similar to the one the fairy godmother from Cinderella wore
It just felt like the movie walked the audience through everything
Obviously it’s a kids movie so the theme has to be obvious but it felt like it was just be recited by the characters
Make your own dreams come true stealing wishes is bad
That’s pretty much it
Overall it’s an entertaining movie for younger kids but that’s about it
Not one I’d go out of my way to rewatch or look for
People were overly harsh about the movie but I don’t regret watching one bit and neither did any kids in the audience

Daemon is not a character I enjoy and I don’t feel any attraction to him. But I absolutely love Matt Smith. I am vastly more attracted to him when he is himself or the Doctor, than as Daemon. I think I just vibe more with his personality. What Matt character (other than the Doctor or Daemon) do you enjoy most? 💖
HI nonnie! Daemon certainly isn't for everyone, I get it. Eleven is goofy and funny and has his dark moments.
That's a tough ask. Like runner up I guess? So Eleven is definitely my favorite, Daemon a close second. Probably Prince Philip in The Crown (and not only for these two lines) is my third.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thought I would do some honorable mentions as well and one where Matt has given his all to a role in a pretty terrible film. People might think of Morbius when I say that, but the one that comes to my mind first is always Terminator Genisys (2015).
Wow this movie is bad and I love the Terminator franchise. It was one of the first films he did after he left Doctor Who. I really want to spoil it for everyone but I won't. His character "Alex" isn't who he seems (you can google it if you want to). Matt really did a great job here, but it's painful to watch this movie fall apart over the 2 hours. My man gave it his all. (Not to mention that I like this haircut despite loving his crazy, floppy hair.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another honorable mention has to go to Jack, in the absolutely amazing Last Night in Soho (2021)! Matt is so good at playing villains that I really enjoy those roles. Jack is the absolute worst, but Matt makes him believable yet not over the top. Sleazy. It's a wonderful performance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can literally find some of my gifs of him by searching words like "Matt Smith's ears" because I have a serious problem.
So, I'm not going to review every role he's ever had because that's not what you asked. I will say I have yet to get my hands on a copy of Mapplethorpe (specifically the Director's Cut) and will watch it as soon as I can. I know it's been out for a while but it's hard to get. Until I have watched it, my last honorable mention is his role as Martin in Official Secrets (2019). It's his most understated supporting role, in my opinion. When he's the lead or part of an ensemble, he has loads of personality, almost overwhelmingly. This film is well written and well cast and that always helps. His role isn't huge but he performs it with sincerity and authenticity.
Tumblr media
Rescue me chin boy and show me the stars. sigh. that chin though.
Was that long enough for you anon? LoL If you follow me (seems like you might), you know that I'm longwinded when I talk about Matt's acting. If you haven't seen these, I suggest you save the best for last and get Genisys out of the way first so you can enjoy the others more thoroughly. Most Matt fans have seen more of his work than they realize as his career his been relatively short and he takes time off from film/tv to do theater. He only left Doctor Who 10 years ago so you don't have a long filmography if you decide to work your way through it.
Always feel free to pop by and tell me more about your favorite roles he has played or let me know when you watch new ones! And that goes for this anon and anyone else. My blog is definitely one third Matt Smith, if not more. This ask made me so happy because I don't often get to talk about my man, since I mostly write fics. Thank you, anon!

Hey there, it’s me again! Now my questions are:
1. Aside from “The Crow”, which Brandon Lee movie is your favorite and which one is your least favorite?
2. How did you get into “The Crow”?
3. Favorite movie in general?
4. Favorite actors in general?
HIII!!!! I LOVE YOU AND YOUR QUESTIONS YOU’RE THE SWEETEST!!!!
YOO this is a good question im gonna rank and review all the brandon lee movies now just cause i can..
1: the crow.. for obvious reasons my whole blog is dedicated to it
2: rapid fire!!!! so this is my favorite brandon lee movie apart from the crow. brandon didn’t get the chance to do a whole lot of movies but this one was actually really good!!! the action was soooo amazing (he choreographed it of course it's amazing) and the story was compelling.. its just a great movie overall i feel like it’s one of those movies you’d watch with your dad randomly just a feel-good action movie thats nice to watch. brandon was sooo charismatic and my favorite fun fact about this movie is that in the love scene, the actress he was doing it with didn’t wanna show her butt cause she had only agreed to show her top half nude. so you know what brandon did? he suggested that they should just show his ass instead! so the ass that’s shown in that scene isn’t hers it’s actually his and i find that so silly and so nice of him to do… don’t ask me the amount of times i’ve replayed that scene.. then there’s also the fact that while filming the scene his toe was broken and he was in a lot of pain and she kept accidentally stepping on it LMAOO poor guy..
3: showdown in little tokyo, now this movie was certainly.. interesting!!!! the amount of naked women in the first half had me flabbergasted but it was a pretty entertaining movie.. brandons character was really silly but it was fun to see him fight and a lot of questionable things were going on in this movie but pretty good what can i say! brandon’s the comedic relief in this one and he plays this wasian guy that’s out of touch with his japanese side and he’s the police partner of this white guy thats SUPER in touch with japanese culture cause he grew up there and yea its a goofy comedy action movie
4: legacy of rage, this one was actually pretty good, i loved hearing and seeing brandon speak cantonese. the only version of the movie that was easy to find was the english dub but that sounded so goofy so i spent HOURS searching for one where it was only subtitled and not dubbed and by the time i finally found it i was so mad… then as i was watching it kept BUFFERING a million times and it took me i kid you not 3 hours to get to the 40 minute mark of the movie ohhhh my blood was boiling.. but then i found another wesbite and everything went smoothly from there on. anyways my review of the movie was that it was pretty good, but the action didn’t really start until the end, so it was kinda slow.. also there were so many funny scenes.. brandon (who’s character is also named brandon for… whatever reason??) ends up being framed for a murder cause his best friend wants to bang his gf… then while in prison all of a sudden a bunch of white guys (ONLY white guys even though they’re in hong kong) start attacking him verbally and a bald bulky one screams ‘’EITHER YOU KISS MY ASS OR CALL ME PAPA!!!!!!!!’’ HUH????? I WAS LAUGHING SO HARD WATCHING IT HELP then brandon flips him off with his middle finger and all of the white guys JUMP HIM and then he gets put in solitary confinement.. then the white guys attack him again and a bald guy with an oddly square shaped head attacks him but he does cool martial arts moves and wins the fight.. he attempts to escape prison but fails and lalalalala. meanwhile his best friend who wanted to bang his gf tries to attack his gf but shes like no and this random old man thats in love with her take her to brazil?? and shes pregnant with brandons child btw. and yea a lot of shit happens… the movie was certainly an experience!!!
5: laser mission, this movie……………….. i don’t have any words.. i have no idea what was going on in it like genuinely. i love brandon SO MUCH but i couldn’t sit through this movie without skipping every 5 seconds.. i think there’s a reason brandon never liked to talk about it and apparently even forgot he was in it at one point cause what even was that.. although brandon’s charisma shone through and was the movie’s only saving grace, the bad script really ruined everything. but of course i rated it 5 stars everywhere just for brandon!!!3<3<3<3<3<3<3
6: kung fu: the movie, i havent watched it cause im scared of bald brandon lee. maybe i will one day who knows!!!!
-
2. i actually got into the crow not that long ago… i’d say a little less than a month ago??? even though i haven’t known this movie for a long time my love for it is immense and i’ve rewatched it more times than i can count. how i found out about it was that i was just scrolling on pinterest a long time ago… as one does… and i come across this photo
Tumblr media
and i’m like wwoooooaaaaaa… okay… wow… who’s this??? i do a little research and find out he’s from the crow, so i put that on my watchlist and the movie just sits there and rots along with a million other movies i’ve planned to watch but never gotten around to actually watching. then randomly one night i get this sudden urge to watch something and pick the crow out… and the rest is history!!!
3. this is a hard question… i have a ton of favorite movies from all different type of genres but one of them is.. despicable me. I KNOW IT’S SILLY but what can i say how can you NOT like minions? the storyline is also heartwarming and i love watching it with my little sister… another favorite is ‘’train to busan’’ it’s this korean zombie movie and it’s SO SCARY and SO GOOD and SO SAD it’s just amazing in every aspect… you really care for the characters and it makes me cry everytime i watch it.. another favorite of mine is ‘’grave of the fireflies’’. if you’re ever in a mood to cry your entire heart out and be depressed for at least a week this movie is for you. this is a studio ghibli film about japan in world war 2 and before i watched it i heard a ton about how sad it is but i never expected the SHEER AGONY i would be put through as i watched it. this movie is so so good but not for the faint of heart i assure you..
4. this is a hard one… SORRY I DON’T KNOWWW there’s so many i do love anya taylor joy she’s so uniquely beautiful… olivia cooke is amazing and yea there’s probably a million other actors i like but right now my brain is just: brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee brandon lee

Ted - Season 1 (2024) review
Tumblr media
Look, it’s a live-action Family Guy. Let’s not even sugarcoat that fact.
Plot: It's 1993, and Ted the bear's moment of fame has passed. He's living back home with his best friend, John Bennett, and his family. While Ted may be a lousy influence on John, he's a loyal pal who will go out on a limb for friendship.
The Ted movies are enjoyable if a tad forgettable pieces of comedic crudeness. Also they haven’t aged the best, so I was quite apprehensive when I heard that they were making a prequel streaming series based on the property. Originally I was not even planning on watching it, however upon its release on the streaming service Peacock, which by the way has anyone even heard of Peacock?? I swear there are so many streaming services around now that it’s hard to keep up with them all. That Weird Al movie that came out a year ago was on something called Roku. Still have no clue what the fudge is Roku! Can’t we just get these streaming companies to bundle up into one and give us all the content on one singular platform? Now is that too much to ask!? Apparently so. Regardless, with that rant aside, let’s talk about the Ted show.
Indeed it’s a surprise that the Ted series is actually kind of good! It’s a throwback to the 90s American sitcoms, with the show focusing on not only the bear but also on his family living in the suburbs. And each family members gets up to their amusing antics every episode, and though none of it breaks any new comedic ground, I must say this was a very enjoyable and easy watch. For one, this show is actually funny. From the ridiculous scenarios that occur, with Ted and John smoking weed for the first time, to their dad wishing upon a star and bringing his toy truck to life who becomes a Republican racist, to John going to buy a condom at a supermarket where an overly nice shop assistant helps him to pick what kind only to turn out to be a creep who runs away as soon as another shop assistant appears. Look, it’s all ridiculous and stupid, but for the most part a lot of the jokes land.
Also, it’s so easy for the teddy bear to steal the show, and of course Seth Macfarlane is on top form riffing and throwing insulting one-liners left and right, and there’s also so much physical and slapstick comedy that comes from the bear’s movements, from how he runs to the way he stares at people with emotionless eyes. The teddy is great, and also even though he’s crude, he never became tiresome or annoying, whereas in the movies he did get a tad repetitive. However the human characters also get enough development and focus that you warm up to the entire family. The kid that plays John was actually spot on with his Mark Wahlberg impression, nailing the accent, but also as a whole he did a great job having to act mostly next to CGI character. His chemistry with the bear was very good, and you felt their friendly camaraderie. As for the parents, the mum was hilarious as the innocently nice housekeeper who was super naive about everything, and the dad at first came off annoying and selfish, but as the show progressed you warmed up to him too due to the solid writing. Then Giorgia Whigham rounds up the cast as the rebellious cousin who disagrees with the old-school beliefs of the family, but also ends up being a key support to each character.
In terms of the negatives, for a show that’s billed as a sitcom, the episodes were way too long. The premiere alone was 50 mins, and then rest ranged around the 40 minute mark, and so pacing did drag at times. Especially when certain jokes were stretched out longer than they should be, they really should have been kept to around 20 mins. Aside of the pacing issues, this was a solid comedy show.
Ted by no means reinvents the comedic genre, however it’s truly an amusing show that will have you smiling throughout, and turns out to be way better than it had any right to be. Also the special effects on the bear are also really impressive. He really does look like a real talking bear, and the movements were all fluid and well done. So yep, Ted is a win. Here’s hoping for a second season!
Overall score: 7/10

5 Films to Watch and Cry About Love
Tumblr media
Directed by Joachim Trier - Starring Renate Reinsve
The Worst Person in the World (2021)
When I first finished this movie, I felt as though there was so much to talk about but found no place to begin, hence my Letterboxd review only mentioning how great its soundtrack is—though it is so much more than just that. The Worst Person in the World follows the life of an ever-changing woman named Julie and her struggles in finding her career path and keeping her love life afloat.
This is a film that I wish I could watch for the first time once again and reminisce how my eyes never left my screen. It allows you to feel conflicted and worry about the protagonist's plights and almost leaves you renewed and grown in someway by the end.
Tumblr media
Directed by Cooper Raiff - Starring Dakota Johnson
Cha Cha Real Smooth (2022)
This film is one of those that you get into without much expectation and then suddenly, there on your couch or in your bed, you feel a warmness fill your insides and catch yourself attached to its stories and characters. With its natural dialogue and delivery, Cha Cha Real Smooth follows the story of Andrew, a guy who is new to love’s pains.
Director and actor Cooper Raiff manages to let his audience feel as though they had just watched a fracture of someone’s life at some corner of the world, and just so unexpectedly brings them comfort.
Tumblr media
Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones & Paul Mescal
Normal People (2020)
Marianne and Connel have to be one of the most humane and genuine relationships I’ve ever seen featured on screen. Normal People is a show that doesn’t over-dramatize or romanticize life and instead features its admittedly “boring” yet raw cycle of love and relationships.
If he silently decides not to say something when they’re talking, Marianne will ask “what?” within one or two seconds. This “what?” question seems to him to contain so much: not just the forensic attentiveness to his silence that allows her to ask in the first place, but a desire for total communication, a sense that anything unsaid is an unwelcome interruption between them.
Page 26 of ‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney
Normal People is a TV adaptation of the popular novel in the same title by Sally Rooney, and both capture you with sympathy and heartache for both leading characters. This is a story about loving and growing apart and with each other, which has you pondering about life and its still movements in time.
For my full review of the show and book: Click Here.
Tumblr media
Starring Jung Hae-in & Son Ye-jin
Something in the Rain (2018)
Regular K-drama watchers know how unrealistic and dramatic Korean Television tends to get, and sometimes there’s this craving for something new and real—distinctly apart from the cliches and repetitive tropes of rich-and-poor, love-triangle, and much more. Instead, the show revolves around two unforbidden lovers and beautifully unravels their relationship and its ups and downs with time’s passing.
Something in the Rain directed by Ahn Pan-seok is perfect for the rainy and winter season with its melancholic feel and tolerably slow pace. You’ll find yourself wishing for a love like theirs by the end of this show.

About Time (2013)
Although I didn’t shed a tear for this one, About Time is an extremely heartwarming film that leaves you thinking about time and how it should be spent. The film follows Tim, a guy desperate for love and to keep it with him, spending hours of his life manipulating time only to realize that faith’s path to loss can never be blocked.
The part I love most about this film is its head-on approach to supernaturality without having to explain why or how this is possible. For so long I’ve restricted myself from pursuing ideas and plots in fear that I had to give it sense, but this film made me learn that it is only a fictional world after all.

Things that ran through my head while watching this episode:
--Sad opening with slow music & slow motion was unnecessarily sad. No, scratch that, an appropriate amount of sad, this is the loss of Rengoku-san we're focused on here.
--I love how Ufotable was probably like, "sure, Fuji TV, we'll air the next season on your channel, but we want as much air time when and how we want in order to tell the story instead of just fit things into time slots, you must have figured out by now that we made enough money on that movie that no one expects us to follow the same guidelines as other anime" and Fuji TV was like, "yes, yes, anything, you got it, one hour premiere, you got it, but we will get some fluffy filler right? Please??" and Ufotable was like, "DONE. But don't expect us to make any big departures from the manga, the fans will be down our throats."
--So with the ability to take their time, I love how they accomplished both a satisfying follow-up to the movie with most of this episode being dedicated to the fall-out (complete with slowing down the Muzan intro and drawing us into the upcoming setting), and then a brief review of what's typical for Tanjiro & Nezuko in the Corp (raincoat Tanjiro, eeeee), and then get us off to an impactful start for the rest of this season.
--Those Yuukaku setting details, though! Particularly at the end of the episode it feels like, "hey, we put all the work into this 3D model of the town, you bet we're going to show it off" but then they turn around with details like a moth that got its wing sliced, presumably by an obi.
--One of the scenes which I loved in the stage play of Mugen Ressha was when Akaza appeared before Selim Bradley child!Muzan, because the actor had such a compelling physical performance which sold the idea that for as hard Rengoku worked to damage him, it's nothing compared to the ease with which Muzan beats him up, over and over. Here, in the anime, it's just one blast, a true statement.
--Akaza. Akaza. Akaza. A KA ZA.
--I love how Zenitsu has learned to be strategic with how he steals manju.
--With Tanjiro asking if Senjuro's even heard the news of Kyojuro's death, it really, really hasn't been that long.
--Show-offy animation moment: the sake bottle crashing against the ground
--Senjuro's horror at Tanjiro's impending doom is palpable. Shinjuro is still powerful and Senjuro knows it. I really love how Senjuro is performed, he's so brave and polite.
--Tanjiro makes a lot of great faces throughout this series. This face as he accept the tea is his worst face ever.
--Kinda drives my inner meta nerd mad how there had already been 20 Flame Pillars by the time the 21st one met Yoriiichi and learned Breath technique. They must die off as fast as Ubuyashikis do.
--Tanjiro's self reflection and determination to become a Pillar warms my heart
--Oh crap, there's the sunset tones and the slow music again as Senjuro gives him the tsuba, nooooo, my heart, it's burning
--I love how Haganezuka levels up every time we see him. I am so, so ready for the next season. And the silliness!! The seiyuu must have been given directions to make it sillier and sillier in every take, which makes me very, very excited for the Tanjiro & Kotetsu antics.
--Speaking of filler!!! Ufotable must had seen that Aoi & Inosuke are endgame and thought, "gee, we need to... leave, like... some kind of hints, somehow" and had Aoi knowingly serve Inosuke a heaping second portion of rice and smile fondly when he gets excited about mitarashi dango. They're taking that "he makes her smile" tidbit and slipping it in as best they can, because we otherwise never see her smile until all is said and done.
--This, as well as Aoi being the smart and brave one to rescue Tanjiro from Haganezuka, certainly endears us to her before her plight.
--Kanao!!! It has been 4 months since Tanjiro declared that she stop using the copper coin, but here she is in a moment of indecision, and with how her actions silence everyone else, this is the very first time she's made such a decision. Good girl, Kanao! That said, she leaves herself speechless too, and when Kiyo and Sumi are emboldened to shout and scream at Uzui, she's as mute as Nezuko. Actions speak louder than words, that's for sure.
--But Kanao's thunder is totally stolen by the entrance of the Kamaboko Rangers
--I love that Tanjiro knows right away that his words have no weight, which is why he very quickly changes tactics and switches to volunteering himself (and his bros) to action
--THESE TAISHO SECRETS ARE SO UNABASHEDLY SILLY

One Piece: ep 7-8 spoilers
completely recommend this series! Go watch it and have fun
I was going to finish the show last night but Sam came and got me and you don't tell a bunny no when he says its time for bed. So!
watched these last two episodes together so Imma review them together.
The series really did a great job of raising the stakes and making you care about the outcome. I was invested in seeing what happened with Luffy's grandfather and just as invested in seeing Arlo get his fishy ass kicked. They wound the tension in both tight without making it uncomfortable for me to sit through to the completion and I never felt like I needed to jump ahead to make sure things worked out so I got to just sit and enjoy the entire ride.
God. I miss being able to trust series or movies to fulfill their ending in a satisfying way that wouldn't leave me feeling disappointed.
But this one did and it had built the story and treated the characters well enough previously that I felt safe just letting myself enjoy the story. And it paid me off for that beautifully.
The last long running manga I was involved in reading was Naruto and let me just tell you what a breath of fresh air it was seeing the female lead treated so well in One Piece. Nami got to be flawed and human and also noble and brave and true. She got to ask for help but not because she was weak but because she'd been betrayed and what she had pulled off was cheated away from her. I enjoyed that we got to learn about her from her sister and then that her and her sister were the first to reconcile. Nami's backstory was heartbreaking and she was so easy to sympathize with as a character as well as her actions. I also appreciated that she didn't have to 'make up' for her past actions. She was simply accepted and welcomed back.
I enjoyed the two final fights. The fight with Grandpa was brutal emotionally and, as someone who's father was one of those fuckers who believed in 'toughen you up 'love' via being a nightmare' - I was surprised that I still liked the grandfather at the end. But I did. Because he backed off even after he'd - physically - won. The hint about Gold Roger with that laugh was wild though. I liked Koby and the Blond guy standing up to his orders, Koby because they were wrong and the Blond guy because he had Koby's back. I really hope we get to see more of them growing and getting better together in later seasons.
The fight with the fish people was violent and well done. Everyone got to shine, even Ussop and I liked the banter between Sanji and Zoro. Also Luffy using his brains to realize he couldn't physically beat Arlo but he could bring down the house around him was new and I liked the sideways approach. Arlo was a conflict of a villain for me. I understood exactly where he was coming from and got why he was the way he was in response. But he was so cruel and determined to burn half the universe down that I couldn't give him any sympathy or hope he 'learned better'. I just wanted him removed entirely from the story, hopefully in a violent and satisfactory kind of way. And the story gave me that.
The payoff at the end of the story was top notch! It didn't cut and run too soon, it really let us sit and enjoy our victory. Shanks and team was a surprise and very heartening and I love who brought them the news. Seeing Kayla spot Ussop was perfect. The pledge with their feet at the end where it flashed back to the kids saying their dreams was perfect. And Koby and Blondie getting to get specialized training was as well. It was nice to be able to soak in the good feelings of the win at the end of the ride and I'm even kind of interested in Clown boy and Pink lady teaming up to be double flamboyant in later seasons.
On the the Line!
Double thumbs up recommendation for the series. Had fun. Will watch again soon just to enjoy everything I might have missed (and to bump Netflix viewing numbers)

worst and best hf movie in your opinion? have you watched one of his movies and thought it was gonna be good/bad and it ended up being the opposite? how many of them have you watched?
LOVE this ask.
Okay bear with me; I'm drunk. This is ignoring Indy + Star Wars + Blade Runner. I have seen... almost everything. Like.. damn near everything. According to IMDB he's been in 86 things. Tbh I've seen.. 68.
Top movies:
Hanover Street, it's a bitter sweet romance. Love it. It made me so sad but so fulfilled. It's some of his best acting imo. He's a total hopeless romantic. I love WWI/II films so that's nice.
Frantic is VERY fun. Ew, Roman Polanski. But a fun movie. He accidentally does coke. Overall vibe of his character is indoor cat that got outside on accident.
Heroes is GREAT. Vietnam War vet. Short screen time but memorable and tbh my dream guy. He's funny and sweet and super kind. Kinda a loser. I love him.
Frisco Kid. LOVE HARRISON AS A COWBOY. He's pure of heart and dumb of ass. He's got humor and all sorts of fun lines and moments.
Getting Straight; he had 1.5 minutes of screen time and played an art major and your honor, I LOVE HIM.
Regarding Henry; my first experience with a Harrison movie that wasn't Indy or Star Wars. It's sweet and fun and I'm really connected to it as someone with a TBI. Obviously not of the same caliber but.. still.
Honorable mentions:
Sabrina, the fugitive, the devil's own, and six days, seven nights, American Graffiti.
My LEAST favorite movie he's done is bar none; k-19: widow maker. Please, for the love of God, don't make my man do a Russian accent.
Dishonorable mentions;
42, they did his hair dirty. The possessed bc his character was gross and the movie was bad. Force 10 from Navarone is a snooze fest as a movie but I stuck it out for Harrison. A GREAT look for him but the film is slow. Very, very slow. He has a lot of screen time though. If WWII films from the 70s aren't your thing, don't watch it.
If you want a good laugh, watch his 42 seconds of fame in Luv, hilarious. If you want to see him in a western-esque film but with sideburns? Journey to Shiloh. For absolute stoned out of your gourd humor, belly laugh, his short appearance in the holiday special is just.. absolute gold. He embodies me at every holiday family function I do not want to be present at. Apocalypse now is a fun one, for his very short cameo as colonel Lucas, which is a homage to George Lucas. Wild he got that 2 years after Star Wars and it was filmed the same year as Hanover Street. He was in two episodes of Gunsmoke, which I knew from watching the show. The Sodbusters and Whelan's Men.
Idk man he's got such a diverse filmography. Dm me and I'll give you detailed film reviews of anything I've seen and you want to watch. Like fr. Just dm me, y'all.
