Two-Face ought to be a top Batman sexyman!

Of the candidates left in @batman-heritageposts' Batman Sexyman tournament, in my mind Two-Face is the best suited to be considered the best Batman sexyman, even though unlike Scarecrow, he does not even have an actual entry on Sexypedia! To prove my point, I have gone onto Sexypedia's trope list and taken the liberty of actually compiling a list of all the sexyman tropes that I believe can definitively apply to him. So for your viewing pleasure, the list:

Angst Tragic backstory. Lamenting the life he's lost as well as his own present existence. Two-Face is FULL of all kinds of angst! And given that he used to be besties with Bruce, he even makes Batman angst too!

Chaoslord Comes with the territory of his gimmicks. He is often noted as being Batman's most unpredictable villain because he lets a coin make all of the decisions for him! Even he can't predict what he's going to do next! Chaos vs order is a persistent theme with him.

Criminal Obviously.

Dealmaker More in a gambling way than in a supernatural 'deal with the devil' way. But he often makes promises and deals and will keep to them so long as the coin flips the right way. Also he used to be a lawyer. Kinda comes with the territory.

DILF He may not be a canonical parent right now, but boy does he have the vibes for it!

Distinctive Voice (Two-Face) While Harvey tends to talk in a pretty normal voice, Two-Face often talks in a growl. Depends on the iteration though.

Divorced We know for a fact that Harvey was married... And while in current canon his wife is supposed to be dead, in many canons it's often unclear whether she's dead, they split up for whatever reason through whatever methods, or whether they're still together. Because you know. Continuity! In any case, him being divorced from Gilda isn't an unpopular theory. A valid one, certainly given how he's caught up in a cycle of being at Arkham and on the streets as a criminal.

Dominating (Two-Face) Usually Two-Face, not Harvey so much, and through sheer force of personality. Big step on me vibes here!

Duality The basis of his entire character and gimmick!

Egotistical (Two-Face) Harvey tends to be a pretty humble guy. He certainly has a lot to brag about, being a legitimate legal genius and all, but he tends to keep it on the down-low. Two-Face on the other hand? He ABSOLUTELY thinks that he's hot shit and will brag about it, and will shoot at anyone who doesn't want to listen or disagrees with him!

Eye Imagery His whole asymmetrical deal leads to him having very... Interesting eyes... In many iterations he doesn't have an eyelid on the scarred side, making that eye look bulbous in comparison. Also the whole getting half of his face melted off thing led to his eye color changing in many iterations. So as a minimum, he's usually portrayed as having some form of heterochromia.

Gay/Questionable LGBT Rep The fact that this man who is Bi everything NOT being confirmed as interested in men should be considered a CRIME! Let Harvey make out with Bruce already!

Hot-headed (Two-Face) Harvey can usually keep his cool, but Two-Face is noted for being very hot-headed. When Harvey loses his temper, that's usually when Two-Face ends up fronting.

Intelligence (mostly Harvey) While Two-Face is certainly no idiot, Harvey is likely the smarter one by sheer virtue of he's an actual genius when it comes to matters involving the law. Law genius also translates pretty well to criminal genius, turns out. There was a reason that Harvey was District Attorney. He was just the best damn lawyer in all of Gotham and for good reason!

Knifemurderer Yep! Two-Face sure has murdered a whole lot of people! Two-Face is probably most well-known for deciding whether to kill people or not based off of a coin flip.

Magnificent Bastard In many iterations, fits this trope to a T.

Power of Love In his third ever appearance, he decided to stop being a criminal because Gilda still loved him despite his appearance. Since then, this is a theme that continues to pop up now and again with his character- that so long as people love Harvey, he can be saved.

Questionable Neurodivergent Rep Is explicitly shown to be plural and having OCD. The representation is often... Not so great... Though it does seem to be a thing that many writers are trying to improve on.

Scars Literally half of his entire face, and oftenhis body will be scarred up too! It's where he gets his moniker of "Two-Face" and is therefore deeply tied to his character and gimmicks.

Tall Usually.

Twisted Freaking Cycle Path Yep! Usually with DID.

Unkempt (Two-Face) Harvey usually keeps pretty tidy, but sometimes Two-Face will be unkempt on his side of the body.

Villain Obviously.

Morally Grey Obviously, again. Also this is like his entire deal!

Well-Dressed/Suitguy He's practically THE suitguy of the Batman rogues gallery! With snazzy two-tones suits that are split down the middle too! Definitely among the best dressed of the rogues.

White Hair Often his disfigured side will have messy white hair, if he has hair on that side at all.

Meanwhile, how many sexyman tropes apply to Dick Grayson? I'll be honest, I know nothing about the Talon iteration of Dick Grayson and therefore more of the sexyman tropes likely apply to him than your bog standard Dick Grayson... BUT IS IT 27 TROPES!!!??? Even Scarecrow doesn't have 27 tropes attributed to him on his sexyman page! And I didn't even include the more subjective tropes the require a fair bit of popularity like Johnlocked, Controversial, or Fanon Splintering!

Do the right thing and prove that Two-Face is the best Batman sexyman!

I think they might be planning a Luke and Leia thing with Turner and Duela? It was kind of telling (imo) that they were "flirting" by talking about how neither of them really know or remember their parents. (Also, possibly a coincidence, but both of them look like they could be Misha Collins' kids. And did you notice that Turner has heterochromia? One eye is blue, the other is brown. Very Two-Face! Also just.. their names. Turner and Duela. What is Harvey if not one character who Turns into Two? (a Dual) I can see it. Ah, isn't spec fun! ;) #Gotham Knights

I actually really like the idea that they could both be Harvey's kids, whether full siblings or half siblings (twins?), and the name stuff is perfect! I confess I didn't even notice his heterochromia at all in the show and I chalk that up to the golden filter and also soft low-contrast lighting and not a lot of close-ups on Turner's eyes. In fact I didn't believe you, so I googled..

If Turner is fugue!Harvey's son, talk about perfect casting!

But my point remains: you can have the reveal of them being Harvey's kids without prefacing that with them flirting/growing close because they have no idea they're related. Tbf, their chemistry can be read as friendship if you squint, but Turner being speechless over Duela's 'makeover' and Duela being against [re:nervous?] about holding Turner's hand just screams Budding Young Love, which is gross.

If they are both Dents I'm going to be so annoyed they didn't just let them become friends, because you can care about someone as a friend [re:Cullen about Steph, Turner and Steph about each other] without jumping ahead to romance and sexual tension, but teen dramas always tend to make that leap which is sad because friendships take more care and feel more grounded than just having two teens go googly-eyed over each other.

In short, it feels like shortcut lazy writing (and I hate to say that about this show I love) even if it turns out they're not related it feels like Duela/Turned came about suddenly, like they're forcing it, especially when you compare it to the slow build of Sharper. However, I was just looking at some gifs of Duela watching Turner fight and being impressed, and I'm reminded of how pleasantly surprised and approving she's been of Turner choosing to do 'bad' things or be a badass over the course of the season so far - which I've been reading as a platonic appreciation, though I guess they might have been laying the groundwork for them as a couple...

Imho Turner/Duela is an interesting dynamic on paper (son of Batman and daughter of The Joker) and their personalities are a good contrast, but it was the one thing I didn't like about 1x08 because it didn't feel organic.

I started thinking of Luke and Leia when Turner and Duela were looking at each other like that, not gonna lie. (I totally think at least one of them is Harvey's kid. Probably Duela, but sure, maybe both? Their names even sound like a clue. How was Harvey TURNed into this DUAL character?) Mommy and/or daddy issues seems to be the Big Theme running through Gotham Knights. IMO it'd be weird if it turned out Harvey WASN'T secretly someones dad. (also, fuck yeah, The Manchurian Candidate? BIG VIBES.)

All I'm saying is they better not have cast an actor with heterochromia (Oscar Morgan.. one eye one color, one eye another color) and an actress who looks like Misha Collins' daughter (Olivia Rose Keegan) WITHOUT GOOD REASON. twins separated at birth! betcha fifty bucks. (Duela's "Jane Doe" mom in Arkham is 100% gonna be Gilda, Harvey's wife. betcha another fifty.)

The thing about Luke and Leia tho, is that it was totally one sided. Leia was not interested in Luke, and she was way more interested in Han, even when she was pissy at him. And them being twins wasn't in the plans for the original movie. Duela and Turner both give each other the eyes at certain points. When the characters are interested in each other and end up being siblings, it's just….too soap opera. I feel like GK has better foresight in its writing to pull something like that. So far. I hope.

Harvey's got childhood trauma and genetics that can easily be used against him if someone knows what they're doing. Two Face was always a good man who cracked under the weight of mental health issues and trauma, so there doesn't need to be anything else to his origin story. I do agree with you about the parental issues, since literally EVERYONE has something going on with their parents.

Stephanie's mom with the substance abuse, her dad is [redacted]. Cullen and Harper had an abusive dad. Duela's mom has no sense of self, her dad is the Joker. Turner has lost three parents. Carrie has a great mom, but she's single and overworked so it's hard for her to be there for her daughter. Harvey's dad had a personality disorder and was abusive. Heck, even Brody has parental issues, since his mom's having an affair and his dad is in the Court of Owls. And of course there's all this stuff about Wayne's parents and grandfather.

I think that's plenty. They've only got 13 episodes to tell a story, and I think if they're going to do any surprise family reveals it's probably going to center around Turner. They don't have time for anything else.

Here's hoping we get a second season so they can explore more :)

Since Harvey is rotating in my brain like a rotisserie chicken, I figure I can and should draw more of him. So here we are.

Okay I’m not completely sold on No hair/patchy on the scarred side, even if it’s more realistic. It probably does grow in very patchy, though, and grows back white, so it’s kept quite short.

Before the acid, Harvey already had heterochromia, and was always… not quite ashamed of it, but didn’t like the attention it grew, so he probably wore contacts. These days, fuck it, he’s already missing the eye, why not go for attention grabbing weird glass eyes? He really can’t see though and his hearing isn’t great either so staying in his blind spot w/o him knowing is a big trigger.

Harvey had some reconstruction done on his face, at least enough to let him talk and eat. He lost the eye either directly from the acid, or shortly thereafter, and the left side sagged from lack of support from the muscle and bone underneath. Buddy’s got quite a bit of metal in his face keeping things supported, and he also had to get a lot of dental work done. Even so, the scarring and discoloration remain. The wounds go down to the shoulder, and the palms of both hands (b/c he touched his face immediately afterwards). Hands have minor damage.

I don’t know why I want him to have cowboy boots I just do.

As for the personalities… Harvey and Janus have been around for a while. Janus is not an antagonist force in Harvey’s life, at least not intentionally. He’s very emotional, skittish, and prone to mood swings, but is more the parts Harvey shoved aside to survive. He automatically assumes the worse is happening/already happened and is here to experience all the negative emotions and then fix things. The two of them have a system to try and make up for gaps in memory, it kind of works. If nothing else, they always know when they ate last.

The Hour: A Sanders Sides Story - Chapter 2

CONCERNS AND AN UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER

Summary: Logan talked about his hour to his best friend and he is concerned.

Usually, Logan would complain about Roman’s exaggerated stories about ‘nonsense with a combo of drama’ as Logan put it. It doesn’t matter that Logan and Roman had known each other for years, Logan still couldn’t stand Roman’s theatrics. Especially, not right now. Logan had called his best friend last night to meet him at the coffee shop near campus, because “I need some… help… with something.”

“You? Mr. I-know-everything-about-everything, needs my help? Oh, this should be good then.” Logan had groaned at the nickname during the phone call, but didn’t say much else.

And now, here they were, sitting in a coffee shop, a galaxy away from their initial topic of discussion with Roman re-telling his morning about how he was attacked by a stray cat with arms gesturing wildly. Logan was irritated. Very much so, but he couldn’t help but get lost in his thoughts with Roman’s booming voice as a background noise.

“Roman…”

“...and then the cat jumped—like, literally launched at my face—and just scratched me everywhere like a maniac,”

“Roman.”

“You know how expensive this shirt is? You know how much effort I put in the morning to perfect this magnificent look for all ladies, lords and non-binary royalty to admire? Plus, I—”

“Roman!” Logan quickly interrupted, his voice stern but kept his volume low.

“What,” Roman replied monotonously, annoyed that his story was interrupted. Rudely so.

“I asked you to come here, to help me with… annoying emotions and feeling and… ugh I hate this.” Logan slumped his shoulders, one hand sifting through his hair.

“Gee, Logan. It’s just a soulmate. You know the concept of soulmates is stupid, right? You’re supposed to fall in love with a stranger, it’s not going to work. Why do you even care about all this anyway? You’re not one for romance and all things love.”

Logan paused. He pondered on Roman’s questions for a bit. It is sort of true that he was supposed to be a perfect match with a stranger. What if they’re not compatible. It is also true that he despised romance or emotions in general. So why does he care now?

“I didn’t. Care about soulmates I mean. But since I had my hour, I felt differently about this whole thing. I couldn’t get this person out of my head. And then I realized that I actually want this. That I would very much like to… grow old with someone?” Logan trailed off for a moment, starting to get lost in his thoughts again.

Roman was a little surprised. He never heard Logan talk with this much emotion mixed in his words before.

“How did it happen anyway? You never told me.”

“That’s because you never wanted to know.” Then, he began telling Roman about his hour.

November, last year

Logan woke up with a start. ‘Why am I awake?’ He checked his alarm clock and saw that it was midnight.

He thought maybe he felt dehydrated, so he went outside and had a glass of water. Feeling a little better than before, he went back to his room and laid back down on his bed. He slowly closed his eyes and try to go back to sleep.

He then felt a sudden pain in his head. Ignoring it, he groaned and shifted in his bed to get comfortable. However, he felt his bed is a bit off. Slowly, he opened his eyes again and was greeted by a very confusing sight. The wall on the right side of the bed that is usually covered with diagrams of space and galaxy posters is now decorated with little Polaroid photos. The room also had a subtle glow from the fairy lights hung above the headboard. He stood and walked to the window opposite the bed.

‘Am I dreaming right now? If I am, the fact that I’m aware that this is a dream would mean this is a lucid dream. Unlikely, since I can remember I was awake a second ago.’ Logan started to analyze his surrounding, as well as the state of his mind.

He looked down and realized that he looked different than usual. ‘Noting how different I look and the fact that I feel shorter than usual would mean I am not in my own body which means… I’m currently in the hour… ’ He let the revelation sink in for a moment. ‘Yes, it would make sense since I just turn nineteen about twenty four hours ago. Am I still in Florida?’ He walked to the bedside table and checked the location using the phone that he found there. ‘Affirmative.’

He quickly wrote a very brief note with very limited information on a post-it note that he found in one of the bedside drawer.

Name: Logan Sharp

Age: 19

I am currently a student in Sanders University, majoring in Astrophysics.

We are also from the same area.

Logan was about to be done with the note without writing his address. Writing his address would mean that his soulmate could visit him easily. But he also don’t trust people with personal information that could put him in danger. So he put an additional sentence to justify his need of not putting his address.

I am not adding my address because

He paused. ‘Of course I’m not going to say that I don’t trust this person—well, that is true—that’s just rude.’

Because… reasons

After that he added his email address and phone number to the note. Done with the note, he looked around for a mirror to see what his soulmate looks like. He found a half-body mirror in the bathroom. As soon as he saw the reflection in the mirror, he noted the heterochromia right away. A warm honey color on the left and a cool grey on the right. He stood about three inches shorter than Logan himself and had subtle muscles in his torso, noticeable muscle-cut along the upper arms. Wavy brown hair, tousled from sleep and freckles scattered across the nose, cheek and bleeds over to the neck.

“Cute.” Logan said quickly. He immediately blushed after he realized that he said that out loud. Of course, Logan didn’t tell Roman this part, or he will never hear the end of Roman’s teasing, which is both embarrassing and annoying.

After that, he went out of the bathroom and looked at the clock hung on the wall near the living room. ‘I have about ten minutes left.’ He decided to explore the house a bit. It is true that he didn’t like people—especially strangers—to know personal information about himself, but he couldn’t help but be a little bit hypocritical by snooping around in a stranger’s house. Yes, it’s his soulmate’s house, but they’re still a stranger to him.

Right next to the first bedroom—his soulmate’s bedroom—there was another room next to it, the door partly opened. He peeked inside and saw a sleeping figure facing the door. Logan was shocked at first seeing how similar this person looked to his soulmate. ‘Twins? That, or at the very least they are related,’ Logan concluded in his head.

He went back to the room and re-read his note, double checking if he left out anything important. He then put the note on the bedside table under the cell phone. He sat on the bed again, waiting for the minutes to run out. He felt nervous all of a sudden. ‘I will have to meet this person one day. Oh no, I’m going to screw it up. I have the social abilities of a chicken nugget and I would have to speak to this person and actually talk about important decisions and matters of the future. No, no, no, nononono-’

His train of thought is interrupted by a sudden pain at the back of his head. The pain crawl its way to the front of his head. Once the pain receded, he opened his eyes that he didn’t realized he had closed and found himself back in his own room. He looked around and saw nothing unusual, aside from his desk lamp, which was turned in. He went to turn it off and saw a glimpse of a note from his soulmate written in bubble letters.

‘Nope! Not now.’ He went back to bed and tried to sleep again.

That night, Logan didn’t sleep again until it was three in the morning.

Present time

“That… is actually pretty interesting. What’s their name?” Roman commented and asked after Logan was done with his story.

“Patton Harvey.” Logan uttered the name. Although this Patton person is a stranger to Logan, he already felt an attachment with the name despite never meeting the person himself.

“What am I going to do Roman? You, of all people, know how I am in a social situation. Aside from that, there the added weight of… emotions,” Logan grimaced and continued, “that I would have to deal with—which you know I’m not good at. I have the emotional capacity of a teaspoon.”

“Well, Logan, I do not know how this friend of yours will help you. You know how I feel about soulmates,” The bell above the door of the coffee shop chimed, but Roman paid not attention to it and continued his rant. Logan who sat facing the door glanced at the door briefly. Then he did a double-take.

“I think soulmates are bullshit-”

“Roman…”

“You’re supposed to be a perfect match with a total stranger-”

“Roman, please…”

“Like, what if the universe make mistakes-”

“Roman!” Logan was getting impatient.

“What if it’s all wrong-”

“Roman! Stop it!”

Roman stopped at Logan’s raised voice.

Initially, Logan didn’t want to attract any attention to Roman and especially not to himself. However, he spoke too loud. The second Logan’s blue eyes met a pair of mismatched ones, his world felt like it stuttered to a halt.

You sent stars, now I’m layin’ down facts! Tidbits about Dash, Harvey, Cora, Liv, and Ashley are under the cut. They’re (relatively) SFW. ;)

Dash

Has never gotten a cavity (ironically enough)

As a kid, wanted to be a VR programmer when he grew up

Has been to intergalactic prison

Knows five different alien languages that he can speak and understand without having to use an in-ear translator

Think most Earth movies are vintage porn until proven otherwise

Harvey

Gets nightmares fairly frequently

His best subject in school was always English lit

Has never kissed a human female XD

Would et a dog if he weren’t so busy practice medicine - he’s said that dogs (or creatures that look enough like dogs) are pretty rare in his galaxy

Calls either his mom or one of his sisters every single day

Cora

Is richer than Dash

Could have pursued a professional spaceskate career, but became an engineer instead

Never met her mom

Collects vintage communication devices (old phones and transmitters, etc.)

Liv

Was homeless for a time before she met Cora and Ashley

Is super crafty: she knits, and makes really intricate fractal patterns for 3D prints that she sells online

Has heterochromia (two different colored eyes)

Both of her parents were in law enforcement

Ashley

Has four ears: the upper pair cover higher frequencies, the bottom pair, lower ones – he has much better/more sensitive hearing than full-blooded humans

When he’s happy, can emit a low-frequency, resonant sound not unlike a cat purring

Is the most diplomatic/polite of the poly trio (himself, Cora, and Liv)

Wanted to try going into comedy, but never found the confidence

Is a little jealous of Harvey for being a born Earthling (he comes from mixed alien-human parents)
