Trick or Treat!

Mable is offering you as much of the leftover candy we have from trick or treating last night as you'd like because she can't have any (fun fact: our previous dog Penny actually ate a bunch of Halloween candy once, wrappers and all, but apparently there isn't enough chocolate in them for it to be dangerous). We've got some Reese cups, 3 Musketeers, Milky Ways and Twix (yes, I was strategic about what I gave the kids for the sake of leftovers), but not the Haribo Gummy Bears. Those are for Other Human (my spouse).

My father's birthday was this past Friday on March 15th. It was my mom's idea to draw their three basset hounds (the left one is a mutt) as Sonic characters. From left to right we have Henry, Sophie, and Wilbur with a picture below of what they look like in real life that lines up coincidentally perfect with each dog. Sadly Henry passed away before I ever started working on this (he was 13) so there were some details I couldn't be sure were as accurate in the transfer from animal to a Sonic form as I wanted them to be. I can't describe how much my dad loved this when he opened the gift. I framed it and everything and he currently has it hung up in his home office. It was also bittersweet because my mom is sick and we don't know how much time she has left, but she left a beautiful message on the picture as well, since the gift was from both of us.

This artwork is very special to me. Whether people like it or not, I wanted to ensure the details were as close as they could be for each dog. Colors were a bit difficult to pin down as I was working with several real-life photos that come with several shades and different lighting. No matter what people think though, I'm extremely proud of this drawing I've done.

i don't think that tonaegiri would have kids given post-war trauma and threat of tragedy and the feeling of foreboding that never really fades + kyoko's and byakuya's toxic family history. at the very most they'd decide on a dog or smth bc practical + good to have around and end up spoiling that thing to the moon

What knitting project are you most proud of completing?

I was looking through my projects on Ravelry (realizing I've gotten really bad about posting details about them on there) originally thinking of sweaters I've made for myself (which there are a LOT), but honestly it's probably the sweater I made for Penny, our dog we lost almost 2 years ago.

Penny was a basset hound mix who absolutely loved sweaters, so I decided to make her one. There was a little bit of trial and error with her unusual body type (I had to adjust the stomach part because it was originally too long and she kept getting her back feet stuck in it), but I managed to get it to fit her perfectly.

She was the sweetest dog and it was so heartbreaking when we lost her unexpectedly. The rescue we got her from said she was 4, but looking back we think she probably was a lot older. The vet estimated probably closer to 7, but with all the grey in her face, she might have been even older than that (Lola started getting a lot of grey in her face in the last 2 years and she's 11 now).

I feel like this sweater probably could fit Mable, but I just can't put it on her. It was Penny's sweater and it was made just for her. That and Mable is indifferent to sweaters, whereas Penny often wanted to wear them. You'd ask her if she needed a sweater and she'd come right over to you.

Last year as an anniversary thing, my spouse and I did one of those paint your pet things and I painted Penny in her sweater.

is Doofer

No I have no idea what kind of dog he is, but he is my boy so... We adopted him in February. Feb 5th 2023 and he was 1 year old at the time. A 100% good boy, he walks so nice on the leash and he and Cheese are like best friends. Sweetest boy ever but a little high energy. I have to walk him like three times a day.

My therapist convinced me to get another dog by saying Jaeger would've wanted that, would've wanted me to save somebody like I saved him. So I did, I'm going to give this good boy the best life ever, the way that I hope I gave Jaeger everything he could've wanted. That love and kindness would be best served in someone else's paws, someone else deserves it just like he did so... here we are. Doofer.

I'm going to get a tattoo of Jaeger's pawprint on my shoulder.
