In hindsight, introducing your boyfriend to Shrek was definitely not in your top ten for stupid ideas. You'd told him it was a crime to be nearly forty without seeing the movie – and rightfully so. He was an old man at heart, barely having seen a movie past the nineties. You thought you were righting an injustice. Shrek was a movie for everyone, no matter their age. It held up, even years later. You were pretty sure everyone had seen this movie, but then again, your boyfriend could barely even work a smartphone, so you shouldn't be entirely surprised.
The only thing you hadn't quite anticipated how much he'd like it. Leon spent most of the movie cackling like a maniac. Whether that was from the half-bottle of whiskey he downed or the movie itself, you weren't sure. Either way, what was meant to be a light-hearted movie night led you to where you were now – tipsy and laughing at your boyfriend's Shrek getup in his bedroom at nearly midnight.
When you finally manage to catch your breath, you let your eyes trail over to the costume he had laid out on the bed for you. Sexy Farquaad. That alone is enough to send you into another fit of giggles, your brows raising as you look over at him.
“Leon? We are so breaking up.” Your hands lift up the red costume, your eyes flicking between Leon, then back at the outfit. You eye up the wig, barely managing to suppress a smile. Idiot. “Shouldn't I at least be Fiona?”
“Shut up.” He says between drunken giggles, adjusting the headband on his head so it sits properly, grinning at you as the green ears poke out through his hair. “You're smaller. Farquaad suits you, babe. You can pull anythin’ off.”
Your gaze flicks over to Leon as he adjusts the headband, and you can't help but snort out a laugh, letting your gaze trail his body to take in the whole outfit. Fake belly and everything. You don't even wanna know how much he paid for the costumes. Drunk Leon should not be allowed anywhere near a computer. His spending habits while intoxicated seemed to be getting worse and worse. “Jesus. There's no way you're not pulling my leg.”
“I'm being so serious. You don't wanna make me mad, baby, or it'll… it'll be ogre for you.”
Another laugh, and you reach up to playfully flick one of his ears, shaking your head. “I hate you. You're ridiculous.”
“You gotta give me love’s first kiss to get me back to Leon, baby. If you don't, I'm gonna be stuck like this.” He says with a grin, leaning towards you with his lips puckered. “Don't make me do the accent.”
“God. Please, not the accent.” You say between giggles, looping your arms around his neck to tug him closer, a stupid smile gracing your features. “I'll do anything you want, just please, not the accent.”
“Anything, huh? You gonna put on that sexy ‘lil costume for me?” He murmurs, leaning forward to kiss you. His lips meet yours as he places his hands on your waist, tugging you closer to his body. His tongue brushes against your lower lip until you part them, but then he's pulling away from you.
“Leon? What… come on, babe.” You whine, leaning forward in an attempt to kiss him, but he's quick to place a finger against your chest to stop you from advancing further, a shit-eating grin spreading across his face.
“Not a chance, sweetheart. I didn't get all dressed up for you to take it easy. You want me to dive into that swamp of yours? Costume goes on.”
You shoot him a glare that can only be described as murderous, but all he does is grin wider, looking between the costume and you. With a dramatic sigh, you pick up the costume and make your way towards the bathroom with the plan of changing into it. When you return to the bedroom, Leon's lounging back casually on the bed with his arms behind his bed, still in the Shrek outfit. He lets out a low whistle, tilting his head to the side.
“Damn. You're looking shreksy, babe.”
“No.” You reply quickly, making your way over to the bed.
“Shrektacular?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Work with me here, angel. I only have so many Shrek puns at my disposal, y'know?” He says cheekily, patting his lap. Another deep, irritated exhale leaves you as you settle, placing your palms firmly on his chest.
“Atta girl. Red might be your colour. Hottest evil little Lord I've ever seen.” He teases, his hands coming up to adjust the hat resting atop your head. He lets out a soft giggle once more, his eyes trailing down your body. His hands reach up to thread through your hair, and then he's pulling you into another kiss.
It doesn't take you long to get into it, the taste of whiskey filling your mouth as his tongue sloppily meets yours as he licks into your mouth. He pulls you closer so you're pressed flush against him, his hips rocking up against you. He slowly starts to harden, his hands grasping your hips to make you grind down against him.
Your little moans are swallowed by his mouth as he kisses you hungrily, his teeth nipping at your bottom lip. He reaches between your legs, grabbing the fabric of the costume and tearing it open, just enough for him to be able to slip a few fingers past the cloth to gather your wetness before circling your sensitive nub.
He pulls away from the kiss to catch his breath, pulling his hand away to pull the brown trousers down enough to free his cock. He gives it a few languid pumps before lining up with your entrance, sinking into your tight heat with a low groan of pleasure.
“Thought you weren't into this, baby? ‘Cause you acted like it, but you're soaking me already, and I haven't even started fucking you yet.” He breathes out, his brows furrowing as he leisurely starts to thrust up into you.
All you can manage is a low whine, your hands grasping the brown vest of his costume, your head hanging as you feel his cock rub against your sweet spot, the hat falling off your head and dropping on the bed next to the both of you. “Leon… shut… shut up.”
“Aww, sweetheart. You don't like it when a big, strong ogre explores all your… fuck… layers?” He huffs out, his voice coming out a little breathless as he grabs your waist. His large hands grip you easily, using his strength to drag you up and down on his cock, controlling the pace of each of your movements.
You let out an annoyed whine, your eyes squeezing shut as you bounce your hips against his, trying to focus on the familiar feeling of your boyfriend's cock filling you up. You feel him shaking slightly, and you crack your eyes open only to see the asshole is trying to suppress another fit of laughter at your reaction.
“You are such a dick.” You grunt, grinding his cock deep inside of you until you hear Leon gasp and moan, the smirk instantly getting wiped from his face. You smile in triumph, but it's short-lived as he finds yet another pun to annoy you with.
“Better in you than out - that's what I always say.” Your hips falter as you groan, and Leon uses that as an opportunity to flip both of you over, hooking your ankles over his shoulders so he can pound you into the mattress. The cushion of the fake stomach smacks against your thighs with every thrust, and Leon's fake ears become skewed as he throws his head back in pleasure.
He seems to forget all about feeding you shitty puns as he buries himself to the hilt with every thrust, the new position allowing him to kiss your cervix every time he pushes forward. He can barely think with your cunt sucking him in, drenching him with your arousal. All you can do is whimper as he pistons into you, your body jerking up with the strength of his movements. Your hands come up to grip his shoulders, your nails digging into the fabric of the white shirt he's wearing.
“Leon… m'close…” You breathe out, your back arching off the bed. He lets out a deep moan in response, pressing his hips flush against your ass so he can grind his pelvis against your clit, giving you the extra simulation needed to push you over the edge. You cry out his name as you cum, your walls clenching down around his length.
Leon pulls back slightly to thrust shallowly into you a few more times before he follows behind you, his release making his thighs tremble slightly. He shoots thick white ropes of cum deep into your tight walls, his breaths coming out in short gasps. He collapses against you after a moment, his cock softening inside of you before he pulls out, tucking you against his side.
“This costume is making me sweat.” He grunts after a few moments of cuddling up to you, pressing his lips to your forehead before standing up, his joints cracking as he stretches. He holds out a hand towards you, giving you a slightly sleepy smile.
“C'mon, my little all-star. Let's get you in the bath. Maybe we can cuddle up after, and you can show me Shrek 2 tonight?” At the sight of you face palming, he lets out a loud chuckle, slipping his arms under your body so he can cradle you against his chest, carrying you over to the bathroom.
“C'mon, baby. I promise not to dress up as Shrek again. Maybe next time I'll be real nice and get that prince's costume.” He teases, pressing another kiss to your forehead. You pull your hands away from your face to glare at him, and he gives you a grin that you know means trouble. “Just kidding, sweetheart.”
You both know he isn't.

You look in the mirror, the steam receding to the frame. You look tired. You feel it.
You put away the bottles you used for your bath and try some of the brown sugar moisturizer, hoping it might ease the dry spots left from the friction of your pillow. You cap it and place it in the basket with the rest.
You hang your towel on the rack and flip back the silver tab of the lock. You come out into the hall and nearly trip on your own toes. Andy stands casually against the wall, a dark blue towel folded over one arm, his phone in his other hand as he looks at you over the top.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I hope… hope I didn't take too long…"
"Nah, haven't been waiting long," he smiles and scratches his beard, a few tufts out of place as you hear the coarse graze of his fingertips, "sleep okay?"
You lie, "yes…You?"
"God knows I tried," he shrugs as he stands straight, "pretty shaken by the cops swinging by, you know?"
"Uh, sure," you tuck your lip under your teeth, "sorry–"
"You're not the one who needs to apologize," he waves you off and taps his thumb on the side button of his phone, crossing his arms, a gesture that emphasizes his size. "Anyway, I wanted to ask you something before I start the day."
"Oh?" Your brows squiggle together. What have you done wrong now?
"Did you wanna come to the library? I figured if you need to put together a resume for your application I could get together a few resources. It'd be a quiet place to work." He looks almost nervous as you watch his hand squeeze his phone tighter, knuckles white, "we could get some tea down at the cafe, maybe some lunch?"
You consider him and his request. It isn't a bad idea. You don't know where to start with a resume. You only imagine a blank piece of paper, as empty as your life. You try to smile, your cheeks dimpling painfully.
"Okay," you agree.
You don't know you have the courage to say no. It is his house and it's a thoughtful idea. Amber always said you should get out when you feel grey… Amber…
"I'll go get my tablet," you say to chase away your sadness, "thanks, Andy."
"No problem," he takes a breath, relief uncoiling the tension from him. Had he really been so anxious? "You're the one doing me a favour, so thank you."
"I am?"
"Yeah, I won't complain for the company and it'll give me something to look forward to," he moves towards the bathroom door as you sidle out of his way. His hand seems to float over your shoulder just before you elude it. Instead he presses it to the door. "I'll try to hurry."
🕊️
It feels almost surreal to be back at the library. It's a reminder of everything that's happened. All that's changed.
Andy brings you in with him as he opens. You stand at the counter and watch him. He does everything with graceful certainty. It makes you insecure, there's nothing you know how to do so effortlessly.
When the library opens, it remains quiet. Andy gathers a few books for reference and you take them to the basement, wary of getting in his way as the first patrons arrive. You're much more comfortable in the isolated underground.
You claim your usual spot and prop your tablet up in its case sideways. You open a book and delve into the basic formatting of a resume. You type your name at the top but the next line stumps you. Address? What do you put? Andy's? You don't even know it.
You skip that and put your email. Phone number? Yeah, not that either.
You work slowly. Your frustration mounts as you distract yourself with making neat margins and inserting lines over inputting any information. You have nothing to add. No skills, no experience, no value.
You put your head in your hands and take a deep breath. You're overwhelmed by this simple task. How can you expect to have a job? Like Andy and Amber and everyone else. Everything that is so easy for them is almost impossible for you. You are dumb and worthless.
You stay like that for a while, staring at the table, fighting back tears. What are you going to tell Andy? That you're a loser. That all those expectations he has, you can't meet. Maybe you deserve everything you get, maybe Amber didn't deserve the blight of your existence.
"You're here," her voice draws your head up, as if you summoned her with your thoughts.
You blink, not believing she's real. Amber rushes forward and you sit back, staring wide eyed, terrified at her. She winces and stays on the other side of the table.
"What… why are you looking at me like that?" She clasps her hands together, "please, just listen, please," she pulls out the chair and sits, stretching and arm across the table, "I'm not here to argue–"
"How did you find me?"
"It's not that hard, I know you. I'm your sister."
You fold your arms, shrinking down, brow furrowing, heart sinking. Why is she doing this? She's only her to make you feel worse.
"I'm not here to argue, alright? I just want you to hear me."
"You called the police," you accuse.
"You left in the middle of the night," she hisses, "what was I supposed to do? I was scared."
"And so was I," you snap back. "I'm fine…" you look down and spread your hands over the pages, pushing the book flat, "I'm going to get a job."
She pauses and looks down at the book. She leans in and nods.
"That's great," she forces out stuntedly, "I can help if–"
"No," you shake your head.
She sits back and sighs, "what did I do?"
"I told you. I'm not a child."
"I know you aren't, bubba."
"Bubba?! You talk to me like I am."
She seals her lips and swallows your word with another nod. She puts her hands on the table, as if steadying herself.
"Right, I'm not going to talk to you like a child. I'm just going to say what I came to say and you can choose to hear me or not." She takes a breath and sets her jaw, "that man does not want to help you. You can't see it but he doesn't want what's best for you, I do.
"I know you've made your choice but it's the wrong one. I can't change your mind, police said they won't bring you back, but I can at least try to talk some sense into you. You do what you want, be the adult you claim to be, but at the end of the day, you're my sister and you always will be.
"Bubba, if this all goes wrong, when it does, I will be waiting. My door is open. Today, tomorrow, in a week, a year, whenever you need me–"
She shudders as her eyes glisten and she puts her palm to her chest, "please just think about what you're doing."
You drop your chin. Your heart clenches. Amber always sounds right. She's always been there but you just can't go back. It feels cowardly to change your mind just because you have to do things for yourself.
And you just don't believe her. You want to so bad but you see what she's doing. Andy showed you what to look for; she's playing the victim. She hurt you, you didn't hurt her. She couldn't handle you being out of control and now she's panicking.
"Bub…" she utters. You just stare at your lap. "Let me know if you need anything. I'll bring you whatever you want–"
"Hoovering," you whisper, tilting your head up slightly at Amber's confused hum, "it's when a narcissist tries to win back someone they lost. Through spontaneous contact and making empty promises…"
"Bubba, how– I wouldn’t do that."
"I thought you wouldn't… before."
She lingers for a moment. She stands slowly and fixes her purse on her shoulder. She looms over the table and lets out a shallow breath that sounds like a sob.
"You know I'll pick up the phone. I'll be there…" she drags her fingers across the table, "whenever you need me."
She hesitates before she turns to leave. You hear her gulping as she steps between the shelves and steps shuffle out from the staircase.
"Hey, what are you–" Andy's accusation fills the silence, "dove! Are you okay?"
"Shut up," Amber growls, "and don't touch me." You look up as she shoves away his hand on her arm, "I'm leaving…" her voice is sticky with repressed grief, "she won't listen. Are you happy you fucking monster?"
He squares his shoulders and looks at her, glares down his nose, "I'm helping her. Something you never did."
"Fuck yourself. If you hurt her, I will–"
"That won't work. You're not going to stand here and scare her," he snarls, "so go."
They lock in a staredown before Amber elbows past him, marching to the stairs and stopping to look back down at the aisle. You sink down and cover your face. You feel a pit swallowing up. This shouldn't be so hard. None of it. Writing this damn resume or living your own life. It's so hard.
🕊️
You sit in the cafe, watching the street through the window from your seat in the corner. You feel as if you're outside your own body, like you're floating over the pedestrians, watching from some secret tower. You close your eyes and see the blank document etched into your retinas.
The clink of a dish brings your head up. You sit back, limp and barely able to support your own weight. You just feel empty.
Andy sets down a sandwich before you, beside the steaming tea you hadn't touched. He gives a sheepish smile as your eyes bore past him. He sits and places a napkin beside you plate.
Neither the sight or scent of food can stir your appetite. You can't even remember the last time you ate. Last night you pushed around the casserole noodles until he stopped paying attention.
"Looks good," he says as he reaches for his foamy coffee. "I grabbed a little surprise for dessert tonight," he says as he sets his cup down and pats his jacket pocket.
You nod and clear your throat. The simple act hurts.
"Thank you," you force out.
"Well," he hovers his hand over his plate, "dig in. It looks delicious and I'm sure you're starving."
"Uh, sure," you drone and consider the thick sandwich; a croissant stacked with turkey and swiss, a leaf of lettuce and slice of tomato peeking out.
You grab your cup instead and take a swig. You hum, "I didn't even try my tea," you distract him, "how's your coffee?"
"Good, mocha usually isn't my thing but not bad. Gotta try new things, right, dove?"
"Mhmm," you peel away the edge of the lettuce and make yourself nibble it. It tastes awful. Everything is terrible.
"Been a good day, so far, not too busy," he carries on, "how's the resume coming?"
You shrug, "not done…"
He clucks and nods, letting out a long breath. He leans forward and picks up his ham and cheddar on rye. He takes a bite as you tear away some of the croissant and pretend to chew on the end.
"So… guess we should talk," he swallows, "about your sister."
"I don't want to," you whine, "please–"
"I need to know what she said, honey. To protect you. Like last night, hm? When she sent the cops after you like some criminal."
"She was only worried," you rebuff.
"About herself. About making herself feel better by standing on your back," he puts and elbow on the table, lowering his brow in a serious way, "I tell you every day you can do anything, and what did she ever do but tell you not to even try."
You frown. Your heart is in pieces. You don't want to be here. You don't want to be anywhere.
"I'll keep working on my resume," you say, "I'll be done it soon."
He huffs and sniffs at his sandwich before taking another bite. He is silent as he swallows, his gaze weighing on you.
"We can get a box if you wanna take that back with you. No eating in the stacks but just don't let anyone see."
"Thank you, Andy," you say, "I'll be hungry later for sure."
"Mhmm," he taps his foot under the table, letting the silence hang.
You cross your arms and sit back, looking past him to the street again. You wish you had somewhere to be with a briefcase, or were running to catch a bus, you wish you had any purpose but to be a burden.
🕊️
You put the casserole in as Andy mutters to himself and flips through the channels. He says there's some ball game on. You're happy he at least had something to fill the void of your conversations.
You wait in the kitchen. You watch the timer countdown and when it dings you take out the pan. You set it on the counter and scoop out a healthy helping into a plate. You take a fork and knife and rest it on the rim, going to stand in the archway that looks into the front room.
"Do you wanna eat here or at the table?"
Andy looks over, his arm stretched over the back cushion of the grey couch.
"I'll come eat with you," he volunteers as he sits forward.
"No, it's okay. I'm going to lay down… I have a headache."
"A headache? I have advil," his forehead creases with concern.
"Already took something. I think it's going to rain…"
"Oh, honey, I'm sorry. I… was looking forward to eating together."
"It's okay. Tomorrow," you promise, "please, enjoy and watch your game."
His mouth slants as you approach and put the plate on the coffee table. You feel uneven and wobbly. You just want to sleep until you can't wake up.
"I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow," you step back and hide a yawn behind your hand.
"I hope so," he says, "I'll check on you before I turn in. Just to make sure you're okay."
"You don't have to…"
"I want to," he insists, "you know where to find me if you need anything.'
You slowly back away. You turn and drag your feet to the door. You don't need anything but to be alone.

Say My Name Part Two
Part one
THANK YOU FOR ALMOST 3K FOLLOWERS since so many people liked Say My Name part one, I hope this is an adequate Part Two and that everyone will enjoy it! Thank you for making my life brighter, without such a nice community I don't think I'd be able to handle everyday. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I hope this will convey just how much all of you mean to me
Warnings: Cult-ish behaviors (not directed towards reader) fluff!!!!!
Characters: Venti, Bennett, Fischl, Oz, Noelle
Words: 8.2k
"It's the second time the both of us have broken into a church before, so we should be good." You muttered to Venti.
"You've broken into a-" He was cut off as you slapped your hand over his mouth, pulling him into your chest.
The two of you stopped breathing as footsteps resounded in the empty church, Barbara finally leaving with a yawn. She sent a longing look to the shrine, her blue eyes swimming with emotions that could swallow you deep into the sea.
You pursed your lips, unconsciously holding onto Venti tighter. Yet another affirmation that you did not want to get labeled as a god.
The large doors shut with a boom. Even still you and Venti remained still as statues, shallow breaths and rapid heart beats the only sign of life in the church,
After about a minute of sitting there in baited breath, Venti wiggled out of your grip. He did a once over of the church before gliding down from your spot perched on the rafters.
"Vent-!" You nearly shouted but cut yourself off, "Dumbass bard." You whispered under your breath, but you couldn't help the affectionate smile tugging at your lips.
Venti looked back up at you innocently, and then the smile was wiped off his face as he realized the same thing you had. You’re stuck.
It came back as soon as it disappeared though, a soft giggle escaping his throat. He held out his arms, "Jump." He mouthed.
"What? No." You whisper yelled back.
He pouted, "Trust me! I'll catch you!" He whisper screamed right back up at you.
"Nah man you're tripping ain't no way I'm trusting those skinny ass arms to catch me." You dangled your feet down, glaring down at the bard with his outrageous plan.
Venti huffed, "(Y/n), I'm the god of wind I'll catch you. Fall before I push you."
"If you push me so help me god-" You pulled your feet back up onto the rafter with you, but a soft gush of wind off put your balance and you fell backwards right off the rafter.
You swallowed the scream that tempted to tear through your throat, the only thought going through your head was that you were gonna beat that damn bard.
"See?" Venti huffed as you gently fell into his arms, "I caught you." He giggled charmingly.
You crossed your arms, unimpressed, "Your arms are shaking-"
He dropped you without a moment’s hesitation and sighed, “Ah, you’re right, that feels better.”
It took everything in you to not shout at him, but the glare you gave him was enough to kill.
He opted to look away from you, "Come on," He whispered, giggling nervously, scurrying away from you.
Sadly, you couldn't be mad at him forever, a lighthearted grin lighting up your face as you went after him. He was a charming bard after all, even if he was annoying.
When you caught up to him, your jaw hit the floor. In front of the two of you was a mound of expensive items and luxurious food.
“There’s so much…” You whispered in awe.
Venti nodded, “All for our god. The all-powerful and gracious (Y/n).” He smiled wistfully. It sent an unpleasant chill down your spine at how rehearsed he sounded.
"Eating this would be a bad idea," you changed the topic, pointing at a sweet dish on the offering table.
"It would be," Venti agreed, eyeing your wandering hand, "So don't do it."
You put your hand back at your side with a pout, your eyes drifting over to the other items (that weren't edible).
It was all quite extravagant and unnerving. They dedicated so much to this god of theirs even though they were never present. Or… perhaps you should be saying: since you were never present…though you had no wish to be bestowed with the title of god.
If… if they worshiped them (you) like this… how would they react when they realized you are this god they so love?
You were snapped out of your spiraling thoughts by Venti tugging on your sleeve.
He presented a bouquet of flowers to you with a sly smile, "For you, my liege."
You blinked at the pretty bouquet with many different types of flowers before a wide smile broke out across your face, "Thank you, Venti." You grabbed it gently, gently touching the petals, "There's flowers from different nations here… they traveled a long way for this bouquet…"
Admittedly, the thought frightened you. Despite the gift being fairly simple, it must've taken forever to put together for a regular person. To collect flowers from many nations just for you. Despite yourself, a frown tugged on your lips.
Venti noticed your frown, his own smile dying down because of it. "The Church of Favonius is probably the most prolific church, and are known to be the most devout to y- the god."
Your brows drew together and you softly sighed, "I can't stay in Mondstadt then," You muttered.
Venti's eyes widened, "What-" He nearly shouted, "Why?"
Your eyelids fluttered in surprise, a small gasp exiting your throat at his sudden outburst, "…because they're so obsessed with the god." You pursed your lips, you voice dropping even lower, leaning closer to Venti, "If they find out about me everything I'm wanting to avoid will become my constant reality." Fear flickered in your eyes, "There will be nowhere for me to escape."
Venti's blood ran cold at how scared you were, your eyes widened like a frightened deer's at the mere thought of someone knowing about your godhood.
So, despite Venti's objections, he nodded, his eyes downcast, "I understand." He couldn't say more.
You smiled softly, "Thank you Venti." You patted his head and he broke out of his somber mood just as quickly as it had come.
"Come on," Venti grabbed your hand on his head, "We came here to take stuff that's rightfully yours." His voice was dripping with sarcasm, showing that he didn't think the statement was true.
Your heart fluttered unnaturally at his playful grin. You beamed bright enough to alert the whole of Mondstadt you were here, holding his hand tighter.
He didn't see you as a god, and that was the greatest thing in this church. *~
That night the two of you ran away to Windrise, the wind cradling your hair, and your hands cradling each other. You and Venti giggling with armfuls of stolen goods and collapsing under Vanessa's grand tree. Crystalflies fluttering out of the way of your excited forms, and the grass cradling your bodies.
Venti opened up his coat, dumping all of the trinkets the two of you had stolen onto the grass in front of the both of you and you did the same.
"Time to review these!" You clapped your hands together, grinning damn near evilly at your conquest.
Well, not really a conquest, if you thought about it technically.
Venti immediately picked up an instrument, he had been the one to pick it up in the church but hadn't been able to try and play it. His eyes were wide with wonder as he gently held what you recognized to be an ocarina.
He inspected it, and almost as though it was second nature, held it up to his lips and blew.
Unsurprisingly, a pleasant note rang out in the cold night air. The wind settled to let the note ring out without disturbance.
Venti pulled away and looked at you with an excited smile.
"Venti…" You pursed your lips and furrowed your brow in concern.
He frowned like a kicked puppy, "What?" He whined, as though he were about to cry.
You sighed, "You got onto me for wanting to try some of the food… but you didn't clean off the mouthpiece…"
Venti blinked in realization, you could barely see it in the moonlight but a tiny embarrassed blush dusted his cheeks.
"Oops…" He chuckled, using his sleeve to unprofessionally wipe the mouthpiece of germs he probably already had.
You didn't mention it though, you had no room to talk. You had actually snuck a bite of some particularly sweet smelling deserts while he wasn't looking. Though he didn't need to know that.
He continued messing with the ocarina, though he didn't play any more notes.
"We're very suspicious looking with all of this stuff," He reasoned, "Don't want anyone to find us."
You nodded and continued looking through the pile. It was fairly small, most of the offerings were food. However there were some interesting things of note that you and Venti had taken.
The ocarina - which Venti had silently claimed as his own- a fluffy coat, a wooden toy (a puzzle from what you could gather with something jingling around inside), some books, the flower bouquet Venti had presented you, some expensive looking earrings, a burnt and worn down weapon (no longer sharp and poses no threat to anyone), and finally…
You picked up the item, "This is… this is from those things in the chasm."
You inspected the item, carefully tracing over it with your fingers. You gently touched the spot where an eye was missing, your brows furrowed in confusion as to why this was left at a shrine for the god.
Venti leaned over to look at it with you, color draining from his face, his mouth clamped tightly shut. His green eyes colliding with the singular red eye on the statuette.
"Perhaps…" Venti's voice was clammy, "We should've left that at the church."
You hummed, "I think it was wrapped up in the coat or something. We were too high on the adrenaline rush to notice I guess." You shrugged, "It's fine, it's just a statuette." You carelessly set it down, though you did give it some distance from Venti. Poor thing looked like he'd seen a ghost.
Venti hummed, tearing his gaze away from the statuette.
You tilted your head, placing a careful hand on his shoulder, "Hey, you okay? I can put it somewhere else if you don't wanna see it?"
Venti looked at you with wide doe eyes, and you could've sworn they looked a bit glassy. Nonetheless he shook his head, his usual bright smile lighting up the night, "No, I'll be fine."
His smile was contagious and despite the anxious feeling in your stomach, you smiled back at him and let it be.
Venti picked up the wooden puzzle while you inspected the books. He shook the puzzle around, listening for what might be inside. Meanwhile you opened up the first book on the pile.
… You understood none of it.
You pouted, "Venti, do you know what this is? I can't read it."
Venti blinked, puzzled, "You can't read it?" He scooted closer to look at the text.
You shook your head.
Venti frowned and set the puzzle aside, grabbing the book to look at the cover.
A grin broke out on his face, a small chuckle passing his lips, "This is: New Chronicles of the Six Kitsune. Published by Yae Publishing House." He tilted his head with a curious grin, "Wonder how it got all the way here. The Sakoku Decree was only just lifted."
You snorted in laughter, "Perhaps the Yae Publishing House are doubling down on marketing now that the borders have opened up. Wouldn't surprise me with the sly kitsune running the place."
"You know the Guuji of the Narukami shrine?" Venti tilted his head, "Or perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised." He flipped through the pages with a sly grin, his eyes gleaming in mischief, "Would you like me to read this to you as a bedtime story?"
You scoffed, playfully pushing his head away, "Yeah right, 'in your dreams'." You mocked said Guuji of the shrine.
Sadly, the joke flew right over Venti's head.
He pouted sadly, shutting the book with a sigh, "If you insist. What are the other two books?" He inquired, picking them up after setting the other book down.
You looked over his shoulder, able to recognize one of the covers but not the other.
"Flowers for Princess Fischl," Venti said with a grin matching your own, "And…" His grin fell. He hummed, "Toki Alley Tales… never heard of that one before."
"Toki Alley Tales?" You echoed, gently grabbing the book from his hand.
"Yeah, have you heard of it before?" Venti asked, watching as you gently opened it up.
Your eyes fluttered in surprise.
"That's… odd…" Your brows furrowed.
"What is?" Venti questioned, glancing at the words in the book, "Oh…"
"This is my mother tongue." You flipped through the pages. They were all there, "And the pages of Toki Alley Tales are scattered all throughout Inazuma. There's no way they'd be in this pristine of condition…" You trailed off.
"So…" Venti sat by your side, looking over your shoulder at the words he couldn't understand, "Someone translated the entire book of Toki Alley Tales… for you?"
"I…" You swallowed the lump in your throat, "No way. No one in Teyvat knows my native language… right?" You turned to look at him, confusion and a twinge of fear in your orbs.
Venti frowned, "I… don't know… I don't recognize this and it's not one of the major languages of Teyvat. I don't know anyone that would know this… except… maybe…"
"Except?" You urged him to continue.
"Well…" Venti looked away in thought, "Maybe the traveler… since they're from another world."
You paused, turning the thought over in your head. "That… that would make sense." You put your hand up to your mouth, staring at the pages you understood with perfect clarity, "They're the only one that would have access to the pages we collected."
"Wait so," Venti tore his gaze away from the puzzling pages to look at you, "Does this mean that the Traveler knows you're here?"
You paused, the thought striking you hard. Before you shook your head, "No… no probably not. They translated the whole thing in less than a day and- and how would they even know I'm here?"
Venti frowned, "True I guess, though there's not really any other explanation."
You roughly sighed, shutting the book and setting it aside, "My brain's starting to hurt. Why must Teyvat be so complicated."
Venti giggled, "That's what I've been saying for the past millennium…" He sighed, "And everyone wonders why I'm such a drunkard." He yawned, his momentary somberness disappearing like the wind, "It's too late for this. I'm going to bed. You should too, (Y/n)."
You hummed, standing up and stretching.
"Oh! Hey! We could use this coat as a blanket!" You exclaimed, picking up the large and fluffy fabric, "It's as big as one anyways."
"We?" Venti echoed.
You nodded, "If you're okay with sharing that is."
Venti grinned, his embarrassment only lasting a moment, "Of course! Can't let you have it all to yourself! Although…" Venti placed his hands on his hips, staring down at the pile the two of you had created, "Where are we gonna put all this?"
"Uh…" You stared down at it blankly, the fluffy coat bundled in your arms "Good question…"
The two of you ended up hiding the items at the beach nearby. Far enough so if someone were to find them they wouldn't immediately attribute it to you two, but close enough to keep an eye on.
Meanwhile, the two of you slept up in the tree of Windrise. It was comfortable, you and Venti had ended up tangled in each other's arms with a large fluffy coat shielding the two of you from the cold air. Despite not having an actual bed, it was possibly some of the best sleep you'd ever gotten.
*~
That morning, though, was not so great. The two of you went to go check on the stuff you had stolen taken as soon as you had woken up… only to find it all gone.
"What!" You shouted, searching the beach up and down, "Who- who-" You covered your face with the fluffy coat and screamed into it.
Venti was not much better, his and your form covered in sand, your faces red hot from the sun and anger.
Venti huffed, "Let's just go back." He sighed dejectedly, crossing his arms, "Some of those items were so cool!"
"They took the ocarina and the puzzle you were messing with…" You gasped, "They took the Toki Alley Tales! Shit!" You cursed, clenching your fists, "Who did this?"
Venti pursed his lips, "I'd assume treasure hoarders, they're always looking for something that's not theirs to take." He paused, "Though I suppose we have no room to talk."
You sighed roughly, "I don't really care about most of the items, but the Toki Alley Tales is important. Only the Traveler has a copy of it, I don't want it to land in the wrong hands." You buried your head in your hands, "This was a stupid idea."
Venti frowned, and was silent for a moment, "I won't deny the fact that it wasn't the best idea, and I certainly didn't help." He sighed, "That's my own fault. Despite everything you had said when you…" His eyes met yours, overflowing with centuries of built up emotion kept well hidden, "When I saw you… I could see no one but Teyvat's god and the one who had treated me so well. So I followed blindly in your irrational decisions and I apologize for letting things get out of hand.” He didn’t meet your eyes, his arms crossed uncomfortably, “Sorry this has been bothering me all night I just didn’t wanna talk about it… but it seems I have to.” He sighed, “You need to choose. Right now.”
You lifted your head to look at him, "What do you mean?"
"Things have gone too far.” He still didn’t meet your eyes despite yours desperatly seeking the emotions in his, “You wanted to steal things from the church because you were in a state of shock and you said that the things belonged to you so it'd be fine if you took them. Yet you don't want to be god." Venti frowned, "Right now, you need to decide: are you Teyvat's god or not? That way nothing will ever get this out of hand again, and I can treat you the way you want to.”
The question escaped your lips without a moment's hesitation, "I'm not."
Venti smiled and patted your shoulder, "Thought you'd say that. Again, I’m sorry for allowing your heightened state last night to fester and cause us all this trouble.” He grinned mischievously, “But since you said that, we didn't take the items, because they don't belong to you.Someone else must've taken them from the church. We'll go back to Mondstadt and pretend we know about nothing once we get there, and then we'll do nothing like this again. Okay?”
You slowly nodded, the full weight of his words hitting you. You sucked in a breath to keep the emotions in, "Okay. But what do we do about the coat?" You gestured over to where you had set it in a tree, your hands clammy despite his cheerful expression.
Venti hummed, his hand on his chin, "Hm, we could throw it somewhere, say whoever took it must've dropped it."
You nodded, taking the fluffy coat. You gently pressed your face against it one last time, "Goodbye fluffy coat, you were very comfy."
Despite the ache in your heart, you bundled the coat into as tight of a ball as you could and flung it. You weren't sure where it landed, you turned around and pretended you never knew the coat.
Venti grabbed your arm and whisked you away, though it wasn't as fantastical as you'd thought. He jerked you by your arm, wind hit your face at alarming speeds, and then all at once it disappeared leaving you a rugged mess.
You caught your breath, pulling your arm out of his to straighten your clothes and hair. Once you were done cleaning yourself up, you looked around.
You were at the gate that led to Mondstadt, and you noticed on the bridge a very familiar figure. You couldn't help the grin sneaking onto your face.
"Oh dear." Venti put his hands on his hips, frowningly worriedly, "Why are you grinning like that?"
"I'm on my villain arc, Venti."
"Your what?" He blinked dumbfounded.
You didn't answer, only grabbed his hand and sprinted right onto the bridge. And right onto Timmie's birds.
"Hey!" You heard the little boy yell after you two.
"Sorry!" You giggled, running right through the gates of Mondstadt.
The guards let out amused sighs, "Looks like there's another troublemaker in Mondstadt." Lawrence mused, looking after you two.
Meanwhile you had stopped dead in your tracks only a few steps into Mondstadt's gates.
"Hey," Venti squeezed your hand that he was still holding, "You okay?"
You couldn't tear your eyes away from them, but you were glowing with excitement, "Look, it's-"
"Hark! Tis on this sunny day I and my retinue graciously descend from the great palace. Thundering retribution shall befall all those that dare to besmirch this great land! Katheryne! A dear friend of the Immernachtreich, pray tell, what troubles thou's great land."
"Hey Katheryne, what's the commission for today?" Bennett and Katheryne fist bumped, the latter retaining her usual friendly smile.
"Great to see you Prinzessin and Bennett, we have a special commission only top level adventurers can take on. Would you like to hear it?"
"Oh…" Bennett shuffled nervously, "Uh… I don't know about-"
"Oh but of course!" Fischl put a hand on her hip and used the other to gesture grandly, "I and my retinue will be able to handle it with perfect ease! Isn't that right Sir Bennett?"
"O-oh uh- o-of course!" He nervously replied, doing his best to give a good smile… and failing.
Nonetheless, Katheryne continued, "Very well- oh." Her eyes caught onto you and Venti on the sidelines, watching them… kind of creepily. "It seems we have some guests. Would the four of you like to team up? After all this is one very important mission." She beckoned the two of you over and - after a quick glance at Venti - you eagerly joined them, a dumb grin tugging up at your lips.
"We would've normally gotten the traveler on such an important commission such as this one," Katheryne said, "However we couldn't seem to find them anywhere."
"That bad of a commission?" Venti hummed, "What is it? We might be able to help."
Katheryne nodded, "I trust in Y/n's abilities."
Venti gave you an odd look as she said that but Katheryne continued, "Basically, the Church of Favonius has noticed a few items missing from the church." You froze up. "These items were of great importance and were a part of the altar to Their Greatness. The commission is essentially to find these objects and bring them back to the Church. The items missing are an ocarina, a large coat from Snezhnaya, a puzzle from Sumeru, earrings from Liyue made from expensive gemstones, an old weapon from Natlan, a statuette, as well as some books and flowers."
"Oh no, that's real bad." Bennett's face twisted in nervousness, "Are there any leads?"
Katheryne shook her head, "I'm afraid not. However the rewards are hefty, and you're probably the best people for the job. So, will the four of you take it?"
You didn't have to think twice, "I'd love to!"
You saw Venti's curious gaze from the corner of your eyes.
"If Y/n is doing it I'll do it to." He grinned and gently elbowed you, "Hey, maybe you could be my bodyguard."
You scoffed, "Yeah, you'll need it."
"Well then of course your Prinzessin shall rise to the occasion as well and shed some light on this desolate land!" Fischl did a grand sweeping motion.
You gave her a tiny clap to which you swore you saw a sparkle in her eye as she looked at you. Though she quickly composed herself and giggled confidently.
"Of course I'll take the commission as well," Bennett said, "Though I'm not sure how much help I'll be… sorry." He scratched the back of his neck with an apologetic smile.
You patted his back firmly, "Aw come on Benny don't apologize for something you haven't done. Plus, you'll do great. You're really experienced aren't you?"
"W-well… I mean…"
"And even if you weren't, we'd still want you to come along." You grinned and gave him a thumbs up.
He chuckled, "Th-thanks. Oh by the way, how did you know my name?"
Shit! You cursed in your head, meanwhile Venti giggled behind you. You've fucked up again.
"Well, you're a well known adventurer and uh… I uh… heard them say your name." You waved towards Katheryne and Fischl, unsure of who had said his name (or if they even had said his name)
"Oh! I see!" Bennett grinned, placing his hands on his hips, "Well, either way, I'm Bennett, an adventurer here at the adventurer's guild." He held out his hand for you to shake, "The both of you are…?"
"(Y/n)." You shook his hand.
"Venti." He did the same.
Bennett hummed, "Huh, your names sound familiar…" He snapped his fingers, "Oh! Venti the bard! I've heard you by the taverns!"
"(Y/n) as well," Fischl said, "That name is awfully familiar for someone I have supposedly just met."
"Oh well uh…" You faltered, scratching your face nervously.
Oz cut in, "Mein Fräulein, are you not aware? Ever since Lord Barbatos resigned as Mondstadt's archon, the church has majorly been worshiping the now overarching god of Teyvat. The one with a gentle and warm embrace, one you have felt yourself. Their graciousness, (Y/n)."
"Oh! Why of course I remember it, Oz!" Fischl's face dusted with pink, "A prinzessin must know of the land she is visiting."
You chuckled, "Yeah, I was named after them. It's been kind of embarrassing especially while visiting Mondstadt. But still, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Same goes to thou," Fischl hummed, "From now on thou shall be my… royal secretary!" She snapped, smiling self-content.
You chuckled and bowed, "It'll be an honor to serve you, my lady." You grinned, standing back up.
Fischl was smiling brightly, a stark contrast to her dark and mysterious persona, "Very good!" She clapped her hands, "And then thou shall be-" She turned to Venti, "The bard!" She snickered.
Venti grinned, crossing his arms, "It would be an honor to be royal bard, your highness." He did an extravagant bow, taking off his hat and all.
Fischl was practically glowing and you couldn't help but feel happy at her smile. After all she was just a child at heart.
"Well then, let's head off!" Bennett exclaimed, pumped from the positive atmosphere, a large grin on his face.
"Yeah! Let's go!" You shouted, giggling as the four of you marched out of Mondstadt.
*~
You learned very quickly that Benny's luck was a lot worse and unpredictable than the game had described it. You almost felt offended. This entire time you thought Bennett was just playing it up in his head to be worse than it was.
Nope. His luck was just as bad as he had said.
As soon as your little party had exited the gates of Mondstadt, a pleasant breeze had brushed past all of you… and Bennett had accidentally inhaled some dandelion seeds the wind was carrying along.
Fischl patted his back firmly, without a hint of panic or hesitation.
"Benny?" You floundered around, looking between his red face, Fischl's calm demeanor, Venti's slightly disturbed face, and Oz, "Is he okay?"
"He will be," Fischl said, going around behind Bennett to perform the Heimlich maneuver.
He let out one last good cough before calming down and clearing his throat, "Thank you Fischl," He rasped.
She sighed, but softly smiled, "It's no problem Benny." She clapped her hands, "Now, let us set off my entourage! To recover that which has been so brutally stolen!" Fischl giggled, starting across the bridge.
You and Venti cringed at the same time, sharing a look before giggling.
"Yes, what barbarians." Venti muttered under his breath to you.
You snickered and elbowed him, "Shut up."
The two of you childishly giggled while the others walked ahead.
"Hey," Bennett called back, "We better hurry along if we want to cover more ground. There aren't any leads so we need to be quick."
Fischl nodded, "Yes! We'll need to be as swift as the wind that billows through Mondstadt, and find which ever way the wind leads. That is where we shall begin our journey." She grinned.
"So…" You hummed, "Go whichever way the wind is blowing?"
Bennett shrugged, "Why not? There's no other leads."
The four of you (five including Oz) stopped at the end of the bridge. Fischl and Bennett stood stock still, waiting for a gust of wind.
Ever so slightly, the ends of Venti's hair lit up, and the wind gently blew in the direction of Windrise.
Bennett pointed, "That way it is. Here's to hoping Lord Barbatos hasn't led us astray!" He grinned.
You and Venti shared a look. He grinned, giving you a thumbs up. You frowned.
*~
"Nothing up here!" Venti called down from the top of the Windrise tree, jumping down to join the rest of you at the base.
Fischl sighed, plopping down on one of the roots, "Ugh! We looked everywhere on the way here and then everywhere at Windrise! Maybe the wind led us wrong this time…" She huffed, glaring at the dirt as though it was the cause for all their problems.
"Well the wind has led us wrong before mein Fräulein." Oz comforted her, settling beside her on the root, "We didn't have any leads before anyways. Can Lord Barbatos really lead us wrong when we had no clear destination in the first place?"
"Yes!" She huffed.
Oz sighed and hopped closer to his princess, he extended a wing and patted her back. Her face visibly relaxed at the action and she sighed.
"Right, I'm a prinzessin," She muttered to herself. She sat up straight and cleared her throat, "My retinue! It is in our best interest that we make haste and continue searching." She stood and Oz fluttered onto her shoulder.
"Should we follow the wind again since we don't have any other leads?" You asked.
Fischl thought for a moment and then nodded, "If Lord Barbatos of Mondstadt wishes to guide us with the wind then thee shall follow. It is the unspoken law of such eminent sovereigns such as I."
"It's what the Adventurers at the guild do when there are no leads." Oz said.
Fischl gave him a sideways glare, "Oz…" She pouted.
Bennett took his glove off to reveal a scarred hand, he licked his pointer finger and put it up in the air. Venti hung around your side, looking at Bennett curiously. Ever so slightly, from the corner of your eye, you could see a small glow coming from the ends of his braids.
Bennett snapped his fingers, "It's going that way- ow!" He pointed east, but as soon as he did a rock smacked him in the back of the head. He cradled it and looked around, "Where did that come from?" He shrugged.
You got a massive wave of déjà vu, "Are you okay?"
He waved his hands dismissively, "Oh yeah I'm fine!" He cleared his throat, "Anyways, it's going that way." He pointed there again… right towards the beach where the items had been buried.
"Then let's go! There's no time to waste!" Venti grinned, grabbing your arm and leading you away.
You really hoped "Barbatos" knew what he was doing.
*~
He did not, in fact, know what he was doing.
The five of you - including Oz - arrived upon the beach. Searching everywhere as you went along. By the water, in the sand, until you arrive at the place where the small patches of sand became a beach and the five of you were overlooking an ocean.
Fischl moved a rock in the sand with her foot, "Not it either," She sighed.
Meanwhile Bennett was choking on bits of sand.
"I'm okay!" He gave a tired thumbs up.
None of you were convinced.
Venti was loitering around as usual, casually looking around at a leisurely pace as though this was a nice vacation.
After digging through another patch of sand to no avail, Fischl huffed, "Bard! Are you just going to stand around doing nothing all day?"
"Mein Fräulein! Watch your temper!" Oz said, settling on Fischl's lap.
Fischl instinctively reached up to pet Oz's head. She sighed indignantly, "There's no trails! This commission was a lost cause and a huge waste of time!"
"Hey, Fischl…" You frowned and stepped towards her, but stopped yourself.
"It wasn't a waste of time," Venti said confidentially, "Because you're spending it with people you like. Nothing is a waste of time in the end so long as you're having fun."
"But I'm not having fun." Both of her hands were on Oz now and the raven was silent.
You pursed your lips and carefully approached her, putting your hand on her head gently, "The sun's probably getting to you. It's been tiring today, we should probably rest."
"Yes," Oz said, "That is a wonderful idea." He looked up at his charge, "Mein Fräulein?"
Fischl cleared her throat, "Why yes, a recuperation period during this slow hour of afternoon would be just what the royal court needs. After all, mortals are weak things. This would be most beneficial to you, my retinue." There was an odd lack of her usual exuberance in her tone, and her eyes nor hunched and small posture matched her grandiose words.
You smiled, and gave her a final pat on her head, "Good. You can have some alone time if you want. Just come to us when you're ready to leave or rejoin the group."
Fischl looked up at you with a wide eye. She nodded and remained silent.
You helped her up and she went to separate from the group temporarily with Oz still in her arms-
"Shoot-!" Bennett screamed, being cut off at the end by his face being shoved into sand.
He hoisted himself up, spitting out the sand that got in his mouth.
"Are you okay Bennett?" Venti called out, going over to help the poor boy up.
"Yeah, I think I just tripped on something." He chuckled, dusting himself off.
Venti looked over in the sand and kneeled down to pick it up, "Wait…" He looked over his shoulder and showed everyone what it was, a huge grin on his face, "Lookie here! Weren't we looking for a statuette?"
Fischl gaped, "We were! So we're close!"
Oz cleared his throat.
"Oh- Hark! The clouds part for the sun to beam through! And it is through my and my charges' hands that the first item has been recovered! And where there is one treasure there are bound to be more afoot. Stay alert my retinue, for we shall soon have the church groveling at our feet with thanks!" She giggled, seeming to have brightened up after seeing the item.
Bennett chuckled giddily, pumping his fist into the air, "Let's go!" He cheered, a massive grin on his face.
Venti tossed the statuette up into the air before catching it with a satisfied grin.
You grabbed the item from him playfully, "I don't think you should be the one to hold onto this."
He put his hands on his hips with a pout, "Oh? And where are you going to put it?"
You opened your mouth to respond but realized that… you didn't have a bag. Or that good of pockets. The best you had was your pants pockets but who knows if it'd fall out.
You smacked your lips together and grimaced, not responding.
"I could hold it! I have a bag!" Bennett exclaimed, stars in his eyes.
"Sir Bennett…" Oz said, "With all the care in my heart, I do believe that you would somehow end up losing it…"
Bennett's eyes widened and he deflated, "Oh… Yeah you're right. Sorry I was just over-excited."
"No, you're fine!" You said, "We just don't want you to lose it. If you have a bag I could borrow then I could carry it?"
He hummed and checked his bags, the one with his vision first and then checked the small bag on his back.
He unhooked it, "You can carry this if you want. I'll need it back though, if you don't mind."
"Oh, of course, thank you Bennett!" You smiled as he handed you the bag.
There wasn't much in there from what you could feel, just the map (that you doubted any of you needed), and a few bandages and peroxide. He put the health items into his other bag that had his vision, and helped you tie it so it'd hang off your hip.
"All done." Bennett pulled away, his hands on his hips, "Should be all good to go."
You moved around a bit to make sure it wouldn't fall off, and sure enough it remained attached.
You put the statuette in the bag, "Thank you Bennett!"
"Anytime, (Y/n)!"
"Now! Where to next my motley crew?" Venti clapped his hands and grinned.
The five of you thought for a moment, looking around the area for any clues.
If we found this statuette here… and we had buried it over there… then they should've gone… "Son of a bitch." You muttered.
Venti came up beside you, "Something wrong?" He whispered.
"I think they went towards the cryo regisvine."
He stifled his laughter, "There's no way they're stupid enough to do that. Everyone knows not to go that way."
"Unless they're not from Mondstadt and don't know the area that well." You scowled, your lips pursed in thought.
It clicked in Venti's mind, "Fatui?" He gasped.
You nodded with a dark grimace, "I think so. They could've seen the coat as well."
Venti put his hand to his chin, "Still… there's no way they wouldn't run away."
"But if they ran away," You said, "They might've left something behind."
Venti considered it and then slowly nodded, "I see your point. Fine, then we'll check the area out, along with the others. There’s no reason not to try anyways." He turned to look at everyone else, "Hey guys!" He shouted, "Me and (Y/n) think it'd be good to look over there!" He pointed down the beach to where the regisvine resided.
Fischl scoffed, "Bard!" She called back, "That is where the bearer of freezing icicle petals resides!"
"Yeah, we know!" He shouted back bluntly.
Fischl deadpanned and ran over to you two, "What do you mean you know? You're just going to walk up to the regisvine?" She grabbed onto one of Venti's shoulders and one of yours.
You grabbed her shoulders, "Think about it Fischl, if they went over there they could've left something behind in their rush to get away."
"Yeah but why would anyone want to go over there?" She scowled, frustrated, "You two aren't going to be stupid while we're on this very important mission."
"Mein Fräulein, please, watch your anger." Oz came up beside her.
Fischl removed her hands and frowned at the raven, "If my retinue will stop spewing such absurd ideas then perhaps I, too, will be more reasonable."
"If you don't want to go then we'll go by ourselves-"
"Absolutely not!" She shouted, "You two are not going by yourselves, I will not let two of my friends do something so stupid without me there to help."
Your heart melted, and your eyes visibly softened.
This is all you've ever wanted wasn't it? This little friend group you now have. Your heart swelled. To be loved in Teyvat, that's all you've ever wanted wasn't it?
Fischl saw the look on your face and glared, "Royal secretary, do not get ahead of yourself. I am still your prinzessin, and though thou's thoughts are unusual and barbaric, I must still protect my people."
"Thank you, Fischl." You said honestly.
The fondness in your words seemed to have thrown Fischl off. Her eyes widened and her jaw went slack. She sputtered but shook it off.
"…Thank you, (Y/n)." There was an odd look in her eyes that you didn't like.
Venti butted in, "Well now that that's settled, me and (Y/n) are going to the regisvine now! Feel free to follow if you want!"
He grabbed your arm and took off, Fischl frustratedly shouted something behind the two of you but you couldn't hear it over Venti's giggling.
"W-wait for me!" Bennett yelled, following after you.
Then the five of you were racing towards the regisvine, you and Venti unusually lax for running straight into a possibly early grave.
Though you were sure nothing too bad would happen.
The five of you heard the regisvine before you saw it. The sounds of ice shattering and breaking. You could already see your breath in front of your face.
"Is it… is it fighting someone?" Bennett questioned, speeding up ahead of the group a bit to try and get a better look at it.
"Wait so," You brightened, "Could the person who took the items be in there?"
Fischl blinked, bewildered, her hands on her arms, "Are they really..?"
Venti grinned, "Only one way to find out! Come on!" He grabbed you and Bennett by your arms, dragging you towards the regisvine.
"W-woah!" Bennett tripped but Venti and you helped him before he fell completely in the sand.
The three of you bolted ahead, mostly being dragged by Venti.
"W-w-wait! Guys!" Fischl yelled after you guys, running ahead to catch up.
"Mein-" Oz sighed affectionately, "Be careful you four." He glided next to all of you.
Then the four of you heard a distinct sound. The sound of someone fighting.
Venti grinned, "Looks like we've found our culprit."
He rushed ahead, towards an edge where there was a small drop off.
You heard Venti gasp.
"What? What is it, Venti?" You asked insistently.
The rest of you came up beside him. At the same time all of you gasped, "Noelle?" The three of you shouted.
At the sound of her name she turned to look at you. She was scraped a bit and scuffed up, but she still had her shield up. Her eyes were wide and confused, but she looked away as the regisvine reared up to land another hit on her.
"We gotta help her!" You shouted.
Bennett scrambled around, "What do we do?" He shook from uncertainty.
You pursed your lips and sucked in a steady breath, "Bennett," You looked at him, "Go break the circle thing with your skill, Fischl, Oz, do the same thing."
The three of them stared at you wide-eyed for a moment.
"Come on! She needs help!" You urged them to go, pushing Fischl forward gently, "If anything happens… I'll make sure you're okay." You held onto her shoulder firmly and then let go.
Despite their hesitation, their expressions hardened and they nodded. They jumped down and headed for the regisvine.
"Ah," Noelle looked up but nodded, "Thank you."
"Let's light it up!"
"Oz, reveal thyself!"
Venti and you stood by, watching as they chipped away at the shield.
"And what am I to do, (Y/n)?" The name came as naturally to him as breathing. His heart swelled at the notion.
"You come in after the shield is broken." You said, watching them carefully, "You won't be able to do much but help is help."
"Haah!" Bennett broke the shield.
"Venti, go! Do your skill."
"Got it!" He nodded, sprinting down to join the others. He spun, "Here we go!"
"Infused pyro, not ideal but it'll do…" you muttered to yourself. Your eyes caught onto Bennett's and Noelle's glowing visions, "Bennet! Burst. Noelle once he sets it down you burst too. Fischl, resummon Oz!"
They all hesitated with the orders, but Bennett got over it before any damage could be done and set his ult down. Afterwards, Noelle was quick to slash at the fallen flower, and Oz was resummoned.
You sighed, shoulders slumping, silently praying you wouldn't have to do a second cycle.
Somehow, by some miracle, your ragtag team did manage to one cycle it. Just as the flower was coming up, and Bennett's ult had already disappeared, Noelle managed to get one more good swing in and finish it off. Her giant, geo infused greatsword disappeared.
She huffed, "Thank you."
You jumped down to join the others, a massive grin on your face, "Good job you five!" You clapped Venti and Fischl on their shoulders and gently patted Oz, "That was clean!"
Venti crossed his arms, "Didn't really feel like I did much."
"Well…" You mused, "You didn't really, but you do have four piece Viridescent on don't you?"
"U-uh," Venti sputtered, his face beet red. He grabbed your arm, "Don't mention it in front of everyone." He glared and then let out a massive sigh, attempting to rid himself of the red painting his cheeks, "But… yes… I do. Just, don't mention it in front of everyone again okay? I told you that in confidence."
"Oh… s-sorry…" You muttered, confused, "I-I got carried away…"
You had no damn clue what that was about, but from the reactions of the others you shouldn't have brought that up. They were seemingly politely ignoring what you'd just said.
"Well uh- n-nevermind then. Sorry again I got too excited."
"It's fine," Venti dismissively waved his hand, "You're bringing the mood down. Noelle," He smiled at the girl, "Are you okay?"
"Oh! Yes!" She clasped her hands and smiled gratefully, "I'm fine! Although I'm not sure if I would've been if you three hadn't arrived when you did. Oh, by the way," Her smile died down and there was a curious glint in her eyes, "Why were you traveling this way? If I may ask."
"Oh," Bennett put his hands on his hips and responded coolly, "We were tasked with a commission from the Adventurer's Guild to find the objects that were stolen from the church."
'There were items stolen from the church?" Noelle gasped, her hands going up to cover her mouth, "I suppose I've been out all morning and that's why I haven't heard yet…”
"Maybe,” You said, “but that's why we were looking this way, we thought the culprits might've gone this way. Have you seen anything?" You tilted your head with a kind smile.
"Well…" Noelle hummed, "The reason I'm here in the first place is because I noticed there were some Fatui members that were being attacked by the regisvine. I couldn't just let them be beat by it so I helped them out but they ran away." She furrowed her brows and frowned, "Do you think they might've been the ones to steal from the church?"
"I think so." You said, matching her frown, "Do you know which way they went?"
Noelle hummed, looking around, "I think I saw them go over that way. Follow me." She motioned for the rest of you to follow her and you did so without hesitation.
She turned and headed to the other entrance of the regisvine’s “cave”
“Unless they’re really good climbers or swimmers, isn’t this a dead end.” Bennett said, furrowing his eyebrows.
Venti grinned and pointed at Bennett, “Exactly.”
Bennett’s eyes twinkled with recognition and he nodded, his hands on his hips and a grin on his lips.
Sure enough there were Fatui members breathing heavily. In the middle of their little group were all the goods.
As soon as they had seen you they readied themselves for a fight and swung wildly and hard.
Out of instinct of scrambling to switch characters, you screamed, “Noelle-!”
“Leave it to me!” A shield encased all of you. Weak but effective.
“Bennett, Fischl, Venti, do your skills!”
“Yahoo!”
“Oz!”
“Hah!”
“Bennett! Ult!” You commanded.
He did so and it made the fight go so much smoother, especially once Noelle had ulted as well. The four of them effectively cleaned up the Fatui while Noelle’s shield protected all of you from Fatui members. Including you, which you were immensely glad for. You shivered at the thought of what they’d try on you if you didn’t have a shield.
“Good job all of you!” You stepped over the Fatui’s bodies.
Noelle and Bennett blushed, “Thank you, (Y/n).” Noelle smiled gently, “Are these the items that were stolen from the church?”
“I believe so,” Venti hummed, crouching down to inspect the items, “Ocarina, puzzle, earrings, the books, weapon, coat… I think this is everything.”
“Weren’t there flowers?” Fischl asked, leaning over to look at all the items.
“They probably didn’t bother with them.” You frowned.
“Still!” Bennett shouted, grinning ear-to-ear, “This is great! We found most of the items that we were supposed to! Looks like my bad luck isn’t that bad today!”
Just as he spoke those words, the cryo regisvine respawned.
“Shit!” You jumped back at seeing it reappear.
Noelle panicked, “How do we get past it?”
“No way we have to fight it again!” Fischl whined.
Bennett deflated, “I’m sorry everyone…”

If you’re still taking TGM requests: platonic group (mainly phoenix, rooster, and hangman) trying to take care of sick younger reader. A few lines from the internet for inspiration: “Put your arm around my- Or just fall on me, that works too." "As much as I want you to rest right now, it's freaking me out that I can hold you down this easily." "This is the third time I've had to put you back in the bed. Why the heck do you want to lie on the floor so bad?"
A/n: I have been thinking about this all day! I was ready to kick my feet in the air as I thought about it.
Tumblr media
You stumbled into your place, coughing into your elbow. Jake held you steady, "Okay, little mouse, let's get you to the couch," he said, "Put your arm around my- or just fall on me, that works too" he chuckled as you lost your balance. Bradley and Natasha were closing the door and putting away the supplies they bought while Jake helped you. "Just gotta get you to the couch so we can figure out what to do," he told you.
You leaned heavily on him and he just scooped you up and put you on the couch. "Y/n, you really need more food in your place... Scratch that, you need more of everything," Bradley said as he noticed your empty cabinets. He felt like a mother hen at that moment, Mother Goose would have fit him well just like it did with his dad.
It was no secret that everyone babied you because you were the youngest, you were like their little sister and you often forgot to take care of yourself. What really was no secret was that Hangman, Phoenix, and Rooster, took care of you the most.
Natasha came over and took your temperature, "Jesus, Munchkin! You're burning up! You should have never tried to come into work, kiddo," she told you, shaking her head. She helped you up, "Let's get you changed, guys can you get the medicine ready?" She asked. You rolled your eyes, "I'm not completely helpless!" You said, your voice hoarse and it was obvious you were exhausted. "Says the one that nearly passed out during our briefing!" Bradley called.
Phoenix helped you get changed as you shivered, "I'm taking you out shopping when you're better. You have the bare minimum, kid. You're stationed here permanently, you need stuff," she sighed. You just waved your hand, "'M okay... I got what I need," you shrugged.
They gave you medicine and you fell asleep pretty quick after it, they left you alone in your room and you barely realized that you pulled the blanket and pillow off the bed to lay on the floor. You liked how cold the floor felt against your feverish skin and you fell into a deep sleep. Bradley checked on you and put you back into the bed, frowning at how you barely moved, normally you woke up at the slightest noise.
This happened another time and it was throwing them all for a loop. When they went in for a third time to check your temperature, Bradley groaned seeing you with no pillow or blanket this time. "This is the third time I've had to put you back in the bed. Why the heck do you want to lie on the floor so bad?" He asked, shaking his head. His heart softened as you clung to him, burying your face in his chest as you coughed a little. You were breathing through your mouth as you couldn't breathe through your nose, Jake and Nat secretly took pictures before grabbing the pillow and blanket. "Let's bring shortie to the couch," Bradley said, "She obviously can't be trusted," he joked.
They woke you up an hour later to have you eat and you looked a little more coherent than before. "You guys really don't have to stay and ruin your Friday night, I'll be okay," you said, trying to get up. Bradley kept you down, you tried to fight back but had no energy to, "As much as I want you to rest right now, it's freaking me out that I can hold you down this easily." he said, letting you up suddenly to help you to the kitchen for more food and medication. "You calling me weak, Bradshaw?" you murmured, leaning heavily on him. "Nope, that's why I'm considered. You had more energy when you had broken ribs. I want you better to have the firecracker version of you back," he said.
It was a rough time because your fever kept rising and you seemed to get worse before you got better but the three stuck with you the whole time. They just gave you plenty of soup, tea, and snuggles to keep you resting. After all, you were their little sibling.

Don't Trust a Malfoy (pt. 2)
Fandom: Take a guess (Harry Potter)
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Malfoy!Reader
Y/n = your name
Warnings: they/them pronouns, trauma, bad parenting, (your probably used to both if you're reading this) ( that was a joke don't take offense), events are taken out of order from the story, shitty writing. Some People Live (Lemme know if I missed anything)
------------------------------------------
*Y/n POV*
As terrified as I was I grabbed on to the portkey, We spun and spun until we fell to the ground with a harsh thud. We looked around to find a large, short man with a walking stick in front of a dirty bricked part of a building with a rusted balcony.
"Get up, lets go" the man says and I realize I recognize him when I look at his face,
"That's-"
"yep-" Harry exhales, walking around me, I walk as slow as i can into the building and to the kitchen, behind everyone else. They know they, they love them, they're a family. I'm not part of that.
Walking into the kitchen they all hug Mrs. and Mr. Weasley. I stand straight in the door frame, hands to my sides.
"It's inappropriate to pick your fingers when you meet someone" my mother's voice rang in my head
"And this must be your friend, whats our name dear, Dumbledore left that part out" Sirius asked
"That's Y/N, That is. Isn't it?" Mr. Weasley looks at the twins
"Yes sir, its a pleasure to meet you all" I say shakily with a nervous smile, surprised and scared he knew who I was
"well, let's eat." Sirius patted my shoulder, I felt I knew Sirius from how much the little fourth year had talked about him, I wished to be like him, to have the courage to leave my family, there was one mistake he made though I knew I never could.
We all talked and talked, me and the twins kept pushing each other around and eventually Fred let out a
"I'll get you back for that Malfoy" I laughed because I thought everything was fine until the room stopped
"What about a Malfoy?" Mr. Weasley asked seeming confused
"M-me, I- I'm Y/n Malfoy" I said nearly with tears in my eyes, hoping they wouldn't hate me too
"ah- um, what- what house are you in?" Mr. Weasley asked, Sirius just looked at me with a Serious and scared face, the fact that a Malfoy knew where he was.
"G-Gryffindor, sir" I said quietly
"And your family? What would you te-" Sirius starts
"That's. enough." Fred stopped Sirius's words "Their family isn't a subject we touch." He stopped the conversation and grabbed my hand under the table, as I looked down a tear fell straight into my lap.
--------------------------------------------------
After we were all done eating, it was time for some important information exchange.
"Darling, um would you mind stepping out while we- talk about some things"
"Of course, apologies, I'm sure I'll find something to look at" I laugh quietly all of the adults giving me a small smile
"Y/n stays." Fred and George say at the same time
"This is a family matter" Sirius stares at them plainly
"That's why they stay." Harry let's out loudly, Sirius turns to him in shock while I look at him in amazement another tear finds it's way down my face
"I-its quite alright I can-" I get cut off by Sirius
"If he feels that strongly about it, I trust his judgement. If you have anything you're willing to add we will take it into account" while looking at me
--
I gave them all the information I had and they let me listen to what they were planning, the trust they put in me making my heart swell
But as time went by, we had to go back to hogwarts.

She didn’t right?
Scarlett x daughter!reader
Warnings: sh, suicide, abuse.
NOT A PROOFREAD IM SORRY !!
A/N: i haven’t posted in over a month. Everything thats going on in my life is so fucking crazy, i nearly got suspended and im moving to Aussie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/n's POV:
It's my moms week this week, and I can't fucking wait. I hated being at my dad full time because all he would do is beat me, yell at me, and make me feel like a disappointment. So most of the time I would just hide in my room and do my homework.
The only thing he was happy about, was when I would have all A's on my test. But if I didn't I wouldn't be allowed to eat, or he would beat me until
I passed out.
And that's what happened today. I got a B on my math test, and just so you know I'm not very good at maths. And he knows when I get my test back, so when I opened the door he was standing there waiting for my test results and when he seen them he started yelling at me.
I look at his other hand and it hand a beer in it, that wasn't a good sign, he's probably drunk and something bad is going to happen and that's when he hit my head with the beer bottle and then I saw black.
My eyes opened and I saw it was light outside, so I thought it was still like around the time I come home from school, until I looked at my phone and say it was the next day, and my mom is picking me up.
Shit I have to pack my bags, I go to my room and pack my bags and my school books. I get everything I need and leave my room and see that my mom was here, I checked my face for any bruises and there were none thank god.
I look at my dad on the couch sleeping, that's all he does. I open the door and close it behind me, I see rose and cosmo are in the car too. I open the door and say hi to everyone. "How was your dad's baby?" My mom asked me "alright" I say and give her a fake smile.
"Y/n?" Rose says "yeah?" I answer her "can we play dolls when we get home" she asked "of course Rosie" I say and she smiles in her seat. We get to their house and get out of the car, I went to my room and put my bags down then rose and cosmo came into my room.
"Y/n/n?" Rose said "hm?" I said and looked up at her, "what's that on your belly?" Shit I didn't cover them, "nothing I just fell over at school" I say then cosmo said "are you sure sissy?" "Yes I am, don't worry about me. Now how about we just play dolls and cars?" I ask them "yay" they both said and we went to their play room.
It's been a few hours and it was around the time mum would cook dinner, then I remembered I had school tomorrow, the only reason I couldn't go today was cause it was a teacher only day, And I'm glad. "Guys dinner" mom yells from downstairs 'coming' we all say
We sat down at the table, mom made lasagne and she knows I love it (sorry if you don't like lasagne), then Colin came home and I send him a fake sweet smile as he goes and gets changed.
I finished and say I'm going to have a 'shower' and go up to my room. I look for my kit that I have I there, but I couldn't find it..shit I left it at my dads.
Then my see my razor, I drag it across my wrist and make red lines. I see the blood drip down my wirst and watch it, then I cover them up and turn on the shower and get in. When I put my wrist under the hot water it stings but it feels good.
As I finish I get a knock on my door and i say 'I'll be there in a sec', then I dry myself off and change into some shorts and a hoodie. I open my door and see it rose and cosmo. "Mommy said that's she says goodnight, and me too" rose says "and me!" Cosmo added "well tell her I say goodnight and goodnight to you too, I'll see you in the morning" I say "see you in the morning sissy" cosmo says.
I go to bed and see a text from my dad
My 'father'
Where are you?.
Y/n?.
Y/N WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU.
Me
Its moms week dad.
I turn off my phone and go to sleep.
The next morning:
I wake up from my alarm, I yawn and get out of bed. I see my school uniform on my desk and it had a note on it.
'Sorry y/n I have an emergency at work can you take your sister and brother to school please.
Love mom.'
I smile at it and go to my bathroom to brush my teeth. After that I go to cosmo and Rosie's room to wake them up and get them ready.
After they're ready I get myself ready, but I keep on having flashbacks about the night at my dads. I sake it off and get ready. I do my hair and get my bag, and see the kids are watching tv, "come on guys let's go" I say and they grabbed my hand and held on to it.
We started walking to their school and as we go their all of roses friends went up to her and cosmos too, "bye guys" I say to them, "bye sissy" they both say and go walk with their friends, as I started walking to school.
I started walking on a bridge, and I looked down and wondered what would happen if I jumped off...probably nothing to be honest. So I got out my phone, and there was no password because my dad never let me have one.
I went into my notes and wrote something. I took my bag off put my phone in it and went on the railing and jumped off, I didn't move, and I wasn't scared. I just relaxed my body and fell into the water and saw black.
Scarlett's POV:
As I'm at work I get a phone call, it was y/n's school, I wonder why they're calling. I answer and it was the office, "hello Scarlett speaking" I say, "hi Ms Johansson I'm here to inform that your daughter hasn't come to school" she says "oh okk I'll call her" I say and hang up my phone and call y/n.
She wasn't answering.
Then she finally answered, but it wasn't her.
"Y/n?!" I say on the phone, "this is not y/n, I found their bag and I heard a phone ringing" the person on the other side side. "Is she around you?" I ask "um ma'am..I don't know how to say this but I..I think she jumped" the person says
"what do you mean by jump?" I asked "she j- jumped off the bridge..." I stay silent "ma'am?" They ask "yes, yes I'm sorry I got to go" I say and that's when I call d the police and drove to where her phone was as fast as I could.
As I got there, there were police officers and other people looking for her. I tried to call her father, but he didn't answer. And soon they found her..she was blue..she looked lifeless.
They were trying to bring her back but they just couldn't, after 30 minutes of trying they announced her dead.
My oldest daughter.
She's dead.
Then one of the police officers came up to me, "miss Johansson I think this is your daughter's" she says. "Thank you" I whispered. It was her school bag, it had all her books and her phone, and lunch.
I grabbed her phone and it unlocked, she didn't have a password?..anyways the last thing she was on, was her notes and I looked at them.
And it said:
The person that was writing my story ran out of ink.
I felt tears in my eyes, I didn't know my daughter was feeling this way..then I looked on her photos. It was photos of her bruises, where did she get them from.
Until I remembered why I left her father. When he drunk to much he would do thing he would regret, but he did it to his own daughter.
I such a bad mother.
TIME SKIP:
I don't know how to tell roses and cosmo. Should I tell them she's gone to live with her dad?, or should I tell them she's gone away?.
I don't know what to do.
NO ONES POV:
After a long time, cosmo and rose have me wondering where their sister is, they tried to ask their mother but she would just say she's at her dad's.
Until today. "Cos, Rosie" Scarlett said "yes mommy?" They both said. "You know how I said your sister is at her dads?" She says "mhm" rose hums, "yup" he says popping the 'p'. "Well..you won't get to see your sister anymore.." Scarlett says to them.
"Why?" They both ask, "because she's in a better place now" she says and they nod, knowing what she meant somehow.
That was two months after her first daughter's death.
My Masterlist.

Can headcanons 🔫 hand ‘em over
(Jamie babysitter? First words? Accidental surprise powers?)
I was like 'can headcanons gun'??? What??? Is that a meme?? And then I realized
Baby!Camellia HCs GO!
General-
Cam's "birthday" is October 27th! (...which is the day Enter the Aftershock happened. Totally planned on Jesse's part.)
At first she sleeps, like, all the time, to the point that Jesse thinks she's sick or something (she's just extra exhausted from suddenly being spawned into existence). And Cole, always glad to have an excuse for nap, will sprawl out on the couch and cradle her on his chest so she can rest to his heartbeat.
...And then she shifts quickly into nearly never sleeping at all, constantly being fussy and crying, to the point that everyone in the Monastery has to take shifts staying up with her so they all can get some sleep (though Jesse takes on the bulk of these cuz he feels primarily responsible, but no one's actually mad nor minds)
They all then discover she will fall asleep instantly to Cole's Glow Worm song......and wonder if her crying all night is better than enduring Cole's singing. (Jesse can sing her to sleep too, but it takes way longer and you've gotta rock her at the same time)
She gets frightened by unfamiliar things very easily- unrecognizable sounds, new places, different faces, certain sensations (like putting a foot on grass/in water), etc. Lloyd is the one that patiently tries to help her adjust to the overwhelmingness of the world because he knows
She is very grabby, tugging at hair and clothes when and where she can and poking people's faces. She also likes messing with Lloyd's pointy ears (which he'd normally hates, but he can make an exception just this once)
She will steal what she can get her hands on, and will run off giggling with her loot. Cole's vibration tracing helps keep track of her baby crimes, thank the master.
She is obsessed with unicorns. Jay makes the mistake of gifting her a stuffed rainbow plush unicorn that they call 'Corn' and she almost never lets it go and turns into a monster when you try to take it from her.
("MY CORN!! MY CORN!!" "Jay what have you done" "I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS CUTE!!!")
Pixal is the one that designs/builds her bedroom, while Zane and Nya fill it with all the much needed supplies. Maybe too many supplies.
Wu is the one that gave her the headband with the pink camellia (he knew what was up)
Kai: ...I personally think she's got enough hair to get The Kai style~ Jesse: I'll kill you :D
Babysitting!-
Kai's idea of babysitting is taking Cam for rides in the Charger to get her to fall asleep (with Jesse nagging him constantly to not drive like a maniac). At first Cam is intimidated by the car rides, but winds up loving watching the scenery whiz by and enables Kai to go faster (which entirely defeated the point of the car rides in the first place)
"...All right don't tell your dads" *floors it* "WHEEEEEE!"
Nya and especially Jay get baby fever whenever it's their turn to watch, and use Cam for potential future practice. Nya tests out if she'd even like to be a mom...while Jay is up to his arms in notes on parenting snksnksn
Zane is a godsend when she starts teething, constantly making icecubes and freezing stuff over for her to gum on (otherwise she starts gnawing on his and Pixal's colder exteriors instead). He also makes the best homemade babyfood. Jesse tries and fails to not be jealous.
(Cole will also gladly eat the baby food for himself "just to make sure" until Zane smacks him with a spoon)
Lloyd doesn't get many opportunities to babysit (too busy being overly important) but he always gets a little choked up whenever he holds Cam and marvels at her mere existence and he can never fully explain to anyone why.
Jamie is the go-to babysitter when random crises pop up (Or when everyone needs a date night/me time ...or Jesse and Cole just generally spent.)
Jesse: *appears on Jamie's doorstep* *drops Cam in his arms* Jamie: Wha-? Jesse: *collapses on floor* We just need like twenty minutes– Jamie: ...You look like you need a thousand years
Jamie also takes hundreds of photos of this child. Jesse keeps all his on his phone while Cole carries three wallets full of the prints.
Antonia will babysit on short notice if Jamie's not an option, but she'll always drag Nelson into helping her out. Antonia is also the one that teaches Cam how to read, and Nelson likes to fill out coloring books with Cam (even if Cam's "coloring" is just smearing pink across the whole page).
Cam cannot be left for longer than three days at Grandpa Lou's house. She'll come back humming and singing show tunes she doesn't know the words of at the top of her lungs.
Being left with Grandma Caroline means that she comes home with baskets full of food with her (Cole likes leaving her with Grandma for this reason, along with not having his kid obsessed with showtunes)
Cam is only left with Miranda when no other options are available to (which...seems to happen way too often). Miranda doesn't mind babysitting and spending time with her niece but a) she's not really a kid person and b) she's a horrible influence lmfao. Still, she becomes Cam's biggest idol and inspiration (and Jesse is officially convinced that the universe spites him specifically)
Firsts! (And Magic)-
There's bets going around for what her first word would be but nothing could compare Cole and Jesse for the sucker punch that was when "Miwa" started pouring from their baby's mouth
(Miranda won a very hefty 1000 bucks that day, and Jesse still insists she cheated somehow)
(Her second word is "ubican" –unicorn– and Cole throws his arms up in defeat)
Cole attempts to make Cam's first bite of solid food come from a piece of cake. Lloyd loses his mind explaining why that's a terrible idea.
When she firsts learns to wiggle/crawl, Jay play-races her across the floor and lets her win.
Zane is the one present when she stands for the first time and the sheer excitement in his yells prompt the whole building to come running.
Jesse straight up cries in joy when Cam start toddling towards him for the first time (he was bringing her a freshly-washed Corn, but the point remains)
When Cam gets more mobile in general, she will copy Cole in every single thing he does. The way he stands, the faces he makes —even from across the room, if Cole is present, she is mimicking him in some capacity. He casually lifts a table one time while vacuuming and Cam is suddenly convinced she must be strong as well. She is not and learns the hard way.
Due to essentially and quite literally being made of magic, some of Cam's powers manifest even before True Potential, but she can't control them whatsoever.
"...is our daughter burping sparkles? I think she just burped sparkles."
Nya and Pixal rig up video baby monitors in every room on the monastery the first time Cam gets the hiccups and starts warping
Things will start randomly flying around her room in the middle of the night along with loud sounds and flashing lights scaring the absolute life out of everyone—but that's how they learn when she's having a nightmare. ("Why can't she just cry like a normal baby?! It's like something out of Paranormal Activity!" "KAI.")
Jesse is simply playing patty-cake with her and white camellias start popping up out of thin air.
Cam learns that she can shock people whenever she laughs and finds it extremely funny when people yelp in surprise, making her laugh even harder (and shock even harder. Cycle repeats). This does not work on Jay and that makes her pouty.
Don't make her angry. That's when the fireworks appear.
"Cole, where's the baby?" "...You're not gonna believe me, Jess." "...I'm sure whatever ridiculously insane thing it is, I can handle it." "...she sneezed and is now currently floating on the ceiling." "WHAT?!"
She, like Jesse, also cries glitter.

Ibara: … Do you think it turned out this way by coincidence?
Hiyori: Dear me~ I was so looking forward to trying them, but now that I see the four of them sitting together like this, I can't quite bear to!

Nagisa: …Then, how about we eat one box together instead of having one box each?
Hiyori: A splendid idea as always, Nagisa-kun! Well then, I'll have this one for myself… ♪
Nagisa: … How does it taste? Is it the same as the one I ate before?
Ibara: Yes. Given that one has already been approved by Your Excellency, I believed it would be fine to proceed as-is.
Jun: Just when did you get to try a sample, Nagi-senpai? C'mon, Ibara, you gotta invite us for that kinda thing too.
Ibara: Our schedules just didn’t line up …
Hiyori: Some excuse that is! In case you forgot, you literally called me in the middle of the night the other time...
Jun: What for?
Hiyori: Oh, did I not tell you how Ibara was already hard at work?
He called me to ask if I knew any jewellers on good terms with my family, and if I could introduce him to them. As you know, a request for help from Ibara is just so astronomically rare!
Tumblr media
Hiyori: And that's why I introduced him to people experienced both in the jewel trade as well as jewellery design...
But to think that even the box looks like something right out of a jewellery shop... That was thanks to them, was it?
Ibara: There were quite a lot of difficulties since my request was a bit sudden…
However, their expertise helped us produce both a chocolate and a container that are up to our standards… ♪
Jun: Whoa, how did you find the time for all that?
Ibara: It was quite hard work, you know. I had to make use of nearly every connection I have, including His Highness himself, all while doing everything I could to keep costs down…
I thought of how it would appeal to our fans, or even those who would only catch a single glimpse of us at Chocolat Fes.
It truly was hard work creating a product that will give people a strong urge to make a purchase.
Tumblr media
Nagisa: … He said hard work twice.
Ibara: It was definitely hard work, but I didn't think of it as labour. There's no other way I can describe it.
The chocolate's quality turned out very high, so I ended up wanting to create a new unit visual to match the design…
I had to squeeze the photoshoot into everyone’s schedules too, so the hard work also extended towards all of you.
Jun: You went as far as to ask Ohii-san's help, and even wanted to do so much extra for it...
You seriously put your whole heart into this...
Hiyori: Right. Even for someone like Ibara, it must have been unbelievably hard work preparing everything to this extent.
I did find myself wondering if we'd actually manage to pull all this off.
It seems that this time around you were able to completely avoid it, but were you ever tempted to use COMP's budget for this?
Tumblr media
Ibara: I made the decision to take total ownership of this project; it will be planned and implemented by me, for Eden.
There is significance to doing it with my own power. Plus, I couldn't accept it if I didn't. I also wished to convince you all by doing it this way.
Jun: …
Ibara: This is the sort of the victory that I seek.
Bringing Eden—and myself—to the top with my own two hands… was both my desire and ambition. I had already forgotten about that budget long ago.
Of course, I have every intention to make full use of the remaining COMP budget in the future! Ahahaha ☆
Tumblr media
Hiyori: Ah, what a shame. It would've sounded so good without that last part.
Nagisa: … But, you do agree that Ibara was a good kid right?
Jun: …Come to think of it, you take on so much by yourself all for the sake of Eden and our fans.
But even then, you say you don't consider it "labour".
Wouldn't you say that's your way of showing love, Ibara?
Tumblr media
Ibara: …What was that?
Jun: L-O-V-E, love! You couldn't have achieved everything you've done without it... that's what I think.
Ibara: …
… No, no, no. It can't be love.
Nagisa: … Quiz time. Could this be Ibara being a little embarrassed? Press O for Yes or X for No.
Tumblr media
Hiyori: Yes is the only possible answer, of course! Just look at how flustered he is!
Tumblr media
Ibara: Both of you! I'm not your fun little quiz topic!
Jun: Haha. The more worked up you get, the more you'll get teased for it, y'know?
So why don't you just call it "love", and leave it at that?
Valentine's Day is the victory that you've been aiming for, and no matter how you look at it, it's the Day of Love itself... ♪

Ok but hear me out a Drukkari rom com in which Makkari goes to Ikaris/Sersi wedding (those wedding that takes 4 days before it actually happens lol) only to find out the guy she spent one night with is Ikaris (much younger) brother.
YES YES YES DYSFUNCTIONAL ROMCOM TIME I CAN SEE IT SO CLEARLY 🤌🤌🤌
Tumblr media
Makkari flys out early to Sersi's and Ikaris' house and she's heard so much about Ikaris' family and the second she walks into the kitchen to help out (and she's hungry from the long journey), there's Druig in his leather jacket, eating like strawberries and Gilgamesh is cooking. Druig freezes and nearly chokes at the last minute but composes himself super quick and Makkari just like stares at him and points at him ("you???? what the hell are you doing here??? You said you were going on vacation!"), when Gilgamesh's back is turned because one) holy shit what are the fucking chances??? and two) remembering what an amazing time that one night stand was. (Druig just snaps back this is my vacation! I didn't lie!!!) She's heard stories of Ikaris's younger brother being a complete asshole but she knows Druig is nothing like she remembers from that night.
Gilgamesh automatically catches the vibes between the two and how they totally pretend like they don't know each other lmao ("Dru, this is Makkari/Makkari, this is Druig, Ikaris' younger brother. He knows sign as well!") and gives them a push. Shenanigans ensue and it's hilarious them pretending like they don't already know each other and introducing themselves to one another.
Eros somehow gatecrashes the rehearsal dinners and flirts hard-core with Makkari and Makkari having no other choice, is desperate and like automatically goes to Druig’s side. He understands the situation and gets her out much to her relief and the two agree to be each other's wedding date for the rest of the week and so they can stop being pestered about why they're both single. They eventually talk about their one night hook-up. Sexual tension (for days, just oozing and dripping 🤌🤌🤌) throughout the next two days and they grow even closer than before and pull pranks on the family. The family learns what absolutely menaces they are and how much Jack's got them wrapped around his fingers being the cool aunt and uncle ahaha
Eros tries to flirt with Druig when he's drunk and Makkari just grabs Druig's hand and leads him away and kisses him to make Eros get the hint. She can't stop thinking about the kiss later that night 😏
The night of, the family finds out some dark shit and it gets out, Ikaris is not the good guy everyone thinks he is and Druig just straight up punches him because Sersi is so sweet and she doesn't deserve a guy like him and he's glad to call her his sister and the two get into a brawl and the wedding is called off.
Makkari tends to his bruise eye, kisses it and Druig and Makkari aren't sure what they'll do now that the wedding is called off ("what do we call this? When we go back home ... are we friends or ...? // Makkari admits to him, she doesn't "want to be 'just friends.' I want us to be more ... if you'd like.") One things leads to another, more kisses and such and then the two just make love that night. Druig just tells her that night, "Wherever you decide to go for tomorrow, I'll follow you anywhere."
the weddings still called off but Sersi decides its a waste of money and its not being put to good use and decides to turn it into a party. Everyone gets cake, even random people popping in, Dane shows up and comforts Sersi and asks her to dance and Sersi is happy and grateful he's there. While they dance, Sersi is happy and laughing again. Dane and Sersi two remain friends but grow closer and Dane finally gathers the courage to ask her out within two years, they're engaged and everyone's happy for them. Druig and Makkari travel the world and become engaged as well and come back to find out everyone had a bet on them the week of the wedding as they thought they were already together 🤣

Trigger warnings for Major Character Death, Cancer (nothing graphic at all)
Prompt - Bruce has incurable (by normal medical standards) brain or whatever cancer.........AND GO!!!
LEGACY
When Bruce let the family know his  diagnosis - inoperable brain cancer - he wasn't surprised by their reactions. Dick immediately contacted Superman. "He's your best friend and has x-ray vision. Maybe he can see what normal medical imaging can't and zap the cancer out." Tim contacted Michael Holt, aka Mr. Terrific, at S.T.A.R. Labs. Jason contacted Kori to see about using her old ship's healing chamber. Duke contacted Jefferson Pierce, to see if perhaps his ex-wife, Dr. Lynn Stewart, a neuroscientist, could help. Stephanie contacted her mom, a nurse at Gotham General. And of course, Damian contacted Talia.
"No Lazarus Pit."
"But Father, it will heal you. You aren't dead, so the...side effects...would be minimal, and certainly preferable to the alternative."
"No."
Cass made a call too. She left the room, and Bruce figured she just needed time. He'd wait a bit to go check on her.
While talking to Clark, who was nearly in tears, "There's nothing even I can do, Bruce. I'm sorry," he saw Cass return.
With Harley Quinn.
Cass motioned for everyone to leave the room, and Alfred suggested sandwiches in the kitchen. He figured no one would eat, but maybe it would give them a distraction.
"Hey, Bruce. Cass told me what was up. She thought maybe you'd want to talk to someone. I know I'm not a doctor any more, but I still have all the knowledge, and it's not like you're a traditional guy anyway, so how about we sit and chat a bit."
"Harley, I...thank you." He motioned for her to sit on the sofa and then sat next to her. "I already know about the whole stages of grief thing. I did the anger and bargaining and all that already. I've accepted this. You might be better off talking to the kids."
"You've cheated death a bazillion times, Bruce. You always find a way. Your SuperBestie is like the embodiment of hope. Are you sure you've really accepted this?"
"Yes. I see my legacy, Harley, and I'm proud. So proud of it. I see these kids who have grown so much. They're all heroes themselves, and they'll lead the next generation to be even better than this one. I've even helped a few former villains turn their lives around and become heroes." Harley blushed. "The Wayne Foundation is stronger and helping more people than ever. If this is where my story ends, I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm not sure I could do any better if I lived a hundred more years. Or a thousand."
"What about your kids?"
Bruce laughed. "They've had to deal with my death before. They have each other, their friends, and I'm sure you'll be there for them too, if they need it."
"Absolutely."
"Thank you."
"What about grandkids? Your kids are all gorgeous and most of them are over 18 now. They'll start gettin' hitched and having little ones soon. You'll miss seeing that."
Bruce got serious. "That will be my biggest regret."
Ivy put her hand on top of Bruce's. "Well I promise Auntie Harley will tell them all about their Grandpa Bruce and how he saved her and so many others. And I'll keep an eye on the kids too."
"Please do. Dick will try to hide his pain caring for the others. He'll try to do too much. I think I worry about him more than the others even. Duke has already essentially lost his parents, so he may feel some abandonment issues. Tim will try to pull away from his friends when he needs them the most. Jason and Damian will be angry, and they don't think straight when they're angry. Cass, I actually worry about the least. Her and Steph will have each other's backs. And Barbara too. Is it weird the women will probably deal with this better?"
"Not really. Men have such a societal stigma about asking for and accepting help.  With women, since we're seen as weaker," Harley rolled her eyes in disgust, "it's deemed ok for us to ask for help."
Bruce thought for a bit. "If people had seen the women I've seen, they wouldn't think that way."
"Well, you're kinda a magnet for strong women. Speaking of which, have you talked to Selina yet?"
"Yes. Earlier today. Right before I told the kids. She's on her way."
"Do you have your diagnosis info from your doctor? I'd like to see it, if that's ok. Psychiatrists get a lot of neurological training too, so I know my way around the human brain. Kinda nice to be looking at it from this aspect rather than just bashing them in, ya know?"
Bruce smiled and handed her the folder. She looked it over for a few minutes.
"Well, the good news is the location might be unlucky in that's it's too hard to get to to be operable, but you should keep your mental faculties right up to the end. I'm sure that's a pretty big deal for you."
"Yes, it is. The neuro-oncologist told me as much, but it's still nice to get a second opinion."
"So, you're definitely not looking for options? It's not like you don't have access to a lot of super smart people, literally. Plus the best medical science can offer, not to mention aliens and magic and all that."
"I don't want false hope. Not for me or the kids. As you said before, I've cheated death too many times. It's my time."
"I guess there's not much more to say then. At least now, but if you do want to talk more, you can call me anytime."
Bruce stood up and Harley followed. He hugged her tightly. "Thank you, Harley."
---------------------------------------------
Five weeks later, Bruce went to sleep and never woke up. He never really lost his cognitive functions, something that everyone was grateful for. He was buried a few days later, on a perfect fall day, in the family plot next to his parents.
Cass had already taken over as the new Batman with Stephanie as her Robin, with an updated suit. A few villains laughed at first, but that didn't last long, and word soon got around that the new dynamic duo was not to be messed with.
Dick had indeed tried to take too much on himself, but Wally and Donna were there to knock some sense into him. Apparently they knocked enough sense into him that he proposed to Barbara, and they were married, and pregnant, a few months later.
Tim went to San Francisco and lived at Titans Tower full time with plans on being there by himself. Kon, Cassie, and Bart, made sure that didn't happen, even when he screamed at them to leave him alone. (He was very glad they didn't listen.) With his friends' and the family's permission, he told Bernard who he really was, and Bernard moved to the Tower a few months later. He turned out to be a pretty good Oracle for them, and eventually took the name Knightwatch.
Jefferson and Katana had gotten married and moved to Gotham. Duke moved in with them and continued as Gotham's daytime protector. He still spent a lot of time at the Manor.
Roy asked Jason to help him find Lian, which turned out to be a great distraction for him. Both Artemises joined them, the younger going by Tigress now. Jason and his Artemis eventually got together, shortly after they rescued Lian.
Damian took a while before he could go back out in costume. He wasn't doing well and tried staying in Metropolis with the Kents, but that seemed to make his anger worse. He knew going to his mother right now would be a terrible idea, and finally it was Conner that suggested a plan.
"Go to Smallville. I'm not there as much to help Ma and Pa out, and if you're working on the farm, you'll be too busy and too tired for anger. Trust me on this one."
So Damian stayed with the elder Kents for six months. After a rough settling in period, the arrangement worked out well for everyone. He found a lot of joy working with the animals especially, and started looking into veterinary schools for the future.
Alfred had lost a lot and it weighed heavily on him, but as soon as he found out Dick and Barbara were going to have a child, it was as if he'd gotten twenty years younger.
Selina and Talia bonded over their grief, and Selina ended up going to Nanda Parbat to help Talia run the League. It had never been more efficient.
When the Joker heard about Bruce Wayne's death on the news, knowing exactly who Bruce really was, he left Gotham and was never heard from again.
Harley Quinn started up a group called The Reformed with Ivy, Kite Man, Clayface, and King Shark. Mr. Freeze, the Riddler, and Bane joined them a few months later. They helped out with keeping Gotham safe, day and night. Harley tried to get them to wear matching outfits, but had to settle for everyone wearing a "B" (like the Robin "R") on their assorted suits. She stopped by Bruce's grave frequently to tell him of their adventures.

solitary solidarity – ii
Summary: A selection of writings that explore the early days of the odd relationship between Doctor Veritas Ratio and Missus Kagome Ikeda.
A/N: not much to say aside from that it's a brief chapter! and also kagome has a bout of dissociation - as she often does due to suffering from somewhat severe DPDR.
c.w/s: varies on what part, but i'll make sure to mark each addition with the proper tags in the a/n. OC-insert.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Greetings again, Copycat.”
Dr. Ratio’s deep voice invades her once empty thoughts, and she sighs mentally at the idea of having to attend to his every whim during her lunch break in the relatively empty cafeteria – next time, she’s going to eat in her office.
“Do you need help…” Kagome doesn’t spare him a glance, instead staring at her food – she made this delectable lunch herself this morning, is she not allowed to enjoy it? Miso ramen with plenty of nori and a side of two sakura mochi – nothing short of delightful for her.
“No, not particularly – nor do I ever need help from other people, either.” He informs coldly, “Anyway, I have come to inform you that I’ve found information about your homeworld – Tetra— Where are you going?” His head perks up when she abruptly stands up and walks away with her lunch box in hand.
“Away from you.” She replies moments before disappearing beyond the cafeteria doors.
(Hmm… I found hardly any information about Tetra, but clearly something about it touches a sensitive area.) He glances elsewhere before pursuing her with quick steps – speed-walking, as it were.
She stops in her tracks in the hallway, “I now understand that you do, in fact, need help – go visit the counselor.” She begins striding again, faster than before.
“Pardon me—”
“You’re pardoned, now go away.” She sighs, “My food is getting cold and I am not willing to entertain your ridiculously invasive questions right now. Visit me another time – make an appointment before doing so, as well, thank you in advance.”
“You—” He’s stunned into stopping mid-stride, “She’s so painfully dull, but she has quite the mouth on her…” He grumbles, thoroughly annoyed with the now-ended conversation.
Tumblr media
When Kagome enters her office, she only feels a semblance of relief – not nearly enough for her tired heart. She sets her lunch box down on her desk before promptly resuming eating – at least, she tries to. But now she’s lost her appetite after getting rudely interrupted. She sighs quietly, a whisper already lost.
(How do I continue evading him? He’s bothered me twice, and I’m sure this isn’t the end of it… It’s only the beginning.) She pokes at her half-empty bowl of ramen with her chopsticks, (I’ve met insistent people before, but those were for entirely different reasons… This man is just…insatiably curious – and nosy, to boot…) She groans, “…I’ll save this for later.” She affirms to herself before putting the food away in the mini-fridge nearby.
And then her phone rings with a familiar tone – she grimaces, but she’s exhausted herself beyond the point of tears. She knows that ringtone, she chose it for that person and them alone, after all. Yet, she takes out her phone from her jacket breast pocket and answers it – anticipating the worst.
…It’s going to be a long day.
Tumblr media
One painful conversation later, Kagome goes to set her phone down – only to be contacted again. Although, it’s someone different this time. At first, she briefly contemplates throwing her phone at the wall, but – of course – decides against it and answers the call instead.
“Hello, Kagome Ikeda speaking.” She greets plainly, refusing to give any ideas of her being stressed. Stress who?
“Hello, Missus!” The other person greets cheerily before going on about her upcoming appointment the next day, “I hope that’s okay with you. Everyone knows how stubborn Professor Ratio can be…” They mention wearily.
“He’s certainly…” She glances out the window, a soft sigh rolling off her lips, “Special.” She mumbles, “Anyway… Thank you for contacting me about this, I truly appreciate it – regardless of the visitor.”
“Ah, you’re so polite!” They chirp, “And of course! Happy to help. And if there’s anything else you need, do feel free to contact me or any other of the staff.”
“I will.”
With that said, they bid their farewells and hang up. And that’s when the lights go dark in Kagome’s brain – leaving her dazed and confused. She stands up, wobbling over to her sofa – and then promptly crashing onto it. She needs a break from life…a very long one.

Enduring Ties - Chapter 1 - Part 2
Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
It was early when Liam came by with a tray of food the next morning, but Cailan was already up.
He hadn't slept well.
By the time the door was open, he was already kneeling on the floor at the foot of the bed.
"I thought you might be hungry," Liam said as he carefully set the tray down on the bed. "I don't suppose my father bothered to feed you last night."
"Thank you, sir."
"You can stand up," Liam said. "You don't have to kneel for me all the time. I mean, it would be a good idea in front of my father and in the presence of important company but when it's just us..."
"Thank you, sir," Cailan said again as he stood, slow and smooth like he'd been taught.
"The 'sir' thing, too. That's not necessary when we're alone."
Cailan nodded his head and dropped his gaze.
"Well, I'd better get going," Liam said. "I just wanted to get something to you before everyone else eats. I'd bring you down to breakfast but taking you near my father seems unwise. I'll get our maid, Aubree, to come and get your dishes and help you take a bath later."
Cailan nodded, his eyes on the ground and murmured...
"Thank you."
He couldn't say the words with near the same confidence when he wasn't tacking 'sir' on to the end.
He had been told that some masters would ask them to drop such formalities as a way of feeling closer to their slave but that wasn't what was happening here and Cailan had never addressed a human so informally before.
It was only after Liam had left that Cailan actually looked at the tray, that he noticed the sheer quantity of food on it.
He could never eat all that.
A full bowl of porridge, two boiled eggs and buttered toast, and an apple.
Liam had made it clear the entire tray of food was for him, though and he'd been trained never to question his master's judgement.
He sat down on the bed and he ate.
It was nice at first, the perfectly soft boiled eggs and the buttery toast the most delicious things he'd ever eaten but by the time he moved on to the apple he was already nearly full.
After just a few spoonfuls of porridge, the thought of eating more made Cailan feel nauseous.
He continued anyway.
Liam had given him so little guidance.
He would do whatever was asked of him.
He had finished most of what seemed to be an increasingly large bowl of porridge by the time a final mouthful pushed him over some threshold and suddenly he was retching violently.
He tried to hold it back with his hands but he still managed to get it on his clothing, the carpet and the bedspread before he finally got himself under control.
Half an hour later the maid entered to find Cailan sobbing as he tried desperately to calm his mind enough to make his magic cooperate with cleaning up the mess.
Aubree was a tall, slightly overweight woman with light hair and dark eyes that narrowed critically at the sight of Cailan kneeling on the floor, his robe stained with vomit and his eyes red and damp from crying.
Aubree didn't speak to Cailan as she hauled him up by his arm, her lips pursed in disgust and dragged him down the hall to a large bathroom.
She put the plug in the bathtub and let the water run while she tugged Cailan's clothes off with unnecessary aggression.
"I'm sorry, ma'am," Cailan murmured, his voice trembling.
Aubree may have been a maid but she was a free woman.
That put her well above him.
"Sorry's not going to clean up your carpet, now is it?" Aubree said.
"Get in the tub. Can you scrub yourself?"
"Yes ma'am," Cailan murmured as he climbed into the white porcelain bathtub.
The water was heated, presumably by electricity like the house's lighting, a rare luxury even in the city.
"I can clean the carpet too, with my magic."
Aubree scoffed.
"You're welcome to try but we both know you're only really good for one thing."
Cailan pressed his lips together and focussed his attention on wetting his hair.
He was good at cleaning.
He'd just been having trouble because he was scared of getting in trouble.
After he'd had his bath he'd go back and do it properly.
Aubree told Cailan she'd check back in on him in a while and left him to wash himself, taking his dirty robe with her.
As Cailan washed himself mechanically, he pulled himself back together.
Things had just changed so fast and suddenly he felt very much on his own.
He liked his new master but Liam clearly didn't understand him.
He didn't offer Cailan the same companionship the other slaves had given him in spades.
By the time Aubree returned ten minutes later, Cailan was much calmer and had finished washing.
She dried him briskly with a towel though he could have done it himself.
He hadn't been treated like this since he was a child.
Maybe that was how she saw him.
Turning thirteen had meant that he was mature enough to be sold but Liam seemed to think he was still a baby.
"I don't have any clothes that will fit you, so you'll just have to wear your underpants while I get your robe washed," Aubree said once Cailan was dry.
"I'll get those off you and wash them once you have your robe back, though. We can't have you being unclean for your young master."
The scorn in her voice was unmissable.
Cailan couldn't help but wonder if there would be less of it if she knew Liam felt much the same way.
"Yes, ma'am."
"I've changed your sheets but I've left the carpet alone," Aubree said as she led Cailan back to his room.
"I'll be back to check on you soon. I won't be pleased if all that comes of your efforts is that mess settling in deeper because of the delay."
"I can do it, ma'am," Cailan murmured.
"Then do it."
Left alone in his room, Cailan knelt next to the mess he'd left on the carpet and tried again to get to work.
His mind felt jittery, out of sync as it always did after more than a day in isolation.
He'd never been expected to try and use his magic afterwards until he'd had a bit of contact to resettle him.
Cailan's progress was glacially slow as he drew the vomit out of the carpet and dissipated it.
By the time Aubree returned to check on him half an hour later he was only half way done but he'd proven that he could do it so she left him be.

1...firework/sparkler pic: remember the tweet after cabin wars when joshua realized how cute reader looked when they were happy...yeah reader would've had that realization too on the 4th!!!!! joshua probably asked vernon to take the pic and he would post it on main being kinda fuckboyish but reader and joshua would (obliviously) be flirting in the comments. like get together alr 🙄 2...vernon/josh preoccupied on their phones: reader would send this pic to hoshi and be like "they've been trying to figure out how to load a tiktok compilation vid onto the tv for the kids...who's gna tell them that i hid the remote? 😝" reader just being chaotic since hoshi would b gone that day for personal reasons or smthn 3...joshua bed pic: I WAS SOOOOO TEMPTED TO USE THIS ONE! the thing is though it looks soooooo like Professionally taken, yknow? but it would've been vernon being a little cupid, texting reader like "we mentioned your name and suddenly bro is wide awake" LIKE LOOK HOW PRECIOUS HE LOOKS???? it could pass for him being infatuated w you and UGHHH yeah!!
Tumblr media
4...mud masks: the camp has rewarded the counselors for taking care of the campers all summer! free spa day for all of them! except nobody told joshua and hoshi where the mud bath was and the spa was nature themed so um. when they saw a pool outside of the changing rooms with mud, they automatically thought that it must be the place w rejuvenating mud for the skin! yeah no...it's just an old pool that hasn't been cleaned. so they have actual dirty mud/clay on their face. reader and vernon come back from buying snacks like ??????? how are you so muddy when we didn't even tell you where to go??? and reader takes that pic of them just utterly shocked like !!!!!! wym that pool wasn't even a part of the spa?!!??!! 5...karaoke night: again, a counselors only type of event. they would go to the local pub and have fun (maybe drink, maybe not idk!) but you and hoshi would encourage joshua to sing and vernon to rap! joshua would go after you kept whining, he's a sucker for you, and ofc start singing sunday morning. reader would tweet the video and caption it like "living up to the username i see @/sundaymorning" 6...pfp: ok this one is the most nugget of nuggets but i was considering making this joshua's pfp/icon for reader and joshua's texts! it would b for after they're together! i was gna add a bit abt how he makes funny faces to cheer reader up. he made that face one day during one of your facetimes, so you screenshotted it and always look at his contact pic when you feel down!
if you did get the chance to check out the breakdown i would b soooo interested to know which song(s) u think fits the series the best!! i def have my own picks for the ones i listened to a lot and used the most 🤭
THE WONU FIC!!!!!!!! my friend is a wonu stan and i was texting her like... yeah almost done w the wonu angst.. and she was like WONWOO?? ANGST????? 🤲 it was soooo funny bcos she's v chill but she was eating up the little sections of the fic that i was sending her hehe
i also made two mbs on my other sb for the wonwoo fic: one based more on the vibes and one based on the aes! the one w wonwoo's face kinda flopped and i'm like 👁️ interesting... @ the followers on that blog

Babysitting Johji
Pairing: Ryuji/Ryou(implied)
Rating: G
Word count: 1,193
Notes: Johji is NOT the demon baby he was in the manga.
"Of course I can take care of Johji, you have my word."
The word of a fool.
That's what Honda had given his brother before the older left for his first day out with friends in nearly two years.
Now he was regretting it to hell and back.
The kid definitely didn't want his uncle. And Jonouchi, Anzu, and Yugi were all busy when Honda tried to call for help.
After a twenty minute fuss about eating followed by Johji grabbing Honda shirt and dipping it in his food Honda was desperate for help.
He thought about asking Shizuka for help but he didn't want to put her through this too.
Against his better judgment he called someone else.
"Otogi! How are you today?" He puts on his best friendly voice while trying to keep Johji from taking the phone away and joining the conversation.
"I'm in the middle of a uh...study session, can I call you back?"
"Can you...reschedule it?"
"Not really? What's so desperate you need me <i>now</i>?" Ryuji asks, clearly sounding bored of this conversation already.
"I'm babysitting my little nephew and I'm having hell, I <i>really</i> need help, and pretty much everyone else is busy..."
Ryuji goes quiet and Honda would be worried he got hung up on if he couldn't still hear the other breathing.
"Otogi? I can-"
"Mind if I bring an extra? I can be there in 20 minutes."
"Bring anyone you need, I'm desperate," Honda cuts off the quip he can feel on Ryuji's lips even over the phone, "Don't you dare. There are little ears listening."
"Fine, fine. 20, like I said. Keep him alive that long, wouldja?"
Honda rolls his eyes and grunts an affirmative before hanging up.
Which is apparently Johji's queue to try and eat the phone.
"No! Come on!"
Johji starts crying again and Honda desperately looks for something that might distract him for 20 minutes. At least.
---
There's a knock on the door that Honda only barely hears over Johji still fussing and crying. He scoops the toddler up to avoid him wandering off...again...and opens the door to Ryuji and...
"Bakura? He's your “Study buddy”?!"
"What were you expecting?"
Honda remembers the "little ears" listening before he says something he definitely doesn't want repeated back to his brother, "Nothing, don't worry about it."
Ryou seems to notice the clear implication lingering in the air a moment after Honda lets them both inside, "Oh! We were really studying! We weren't-"
A hand goes over xer mouth before Ryou can say anything Honda might regret.
"I don't really care either way, I'm just glad to have help."
Johji seems mesmerized by their new guests and reaches for Ryuji with "grabby hands", pushing Honda in hopes of getting let go.
"Aww, you're having trouble with this little guy?" Ryuji asks, taking his hand off Ryou's mouth to take the toddler from his uncle.
"Funny, his dad says he doesn't like strangers, and who's stranger than you?" Honda teases.
Ryuji doesn't acknowledge the dig and proceeds to coo at and coddle Johji instead.
Johji reaches up a hesitant hand to touch Ryuji's face, rubbing the line running down from his left eye.
"You like my eyeliner little guy? Maybe I'll help you with yours."
"You're not putting makeup on my nephew."
"I'm joking."
"He's 2, he doesn't know that."
"I didn't even bring an--"
Ryuji is cut off with a tug on his bangs hard enough he screams, and Ryou taking away Johji before Ryuji can drop him. Johji giggling at his own "joke" the whole time.
"Little sh-"
It's Ryuji's turn to have his mouth covered by Honda.
"Not so easy, is it?"
Ryuji glares, grabbing Honda's wrist to yank his hand away from his own mouth, "Who called who?"
"You were my last option! Plus I didn't almost drop him."
"I'll drop something, you-"
Ryou shushes both of them.
Johji tries to copy and ends up just spitting on Honda, and giggling more.
The two exchange angry glares but leave it there.
"You want to go play, little.." Ryou pauses, "what's his name?"
"Johji!" The toddler answers before Honda can.
"You want to go play, Johji? I'll play with you."
Johji wiggles out of Ryou's arms and toddles, wobbling, towards the bag his dad left Honda with, digging food and spare clothes out till he finds his prize.
He returns with two rubber animals, a duck and a sheep.
"Sheep!" He shakes the toy at Ryou expectingly.
Xe kneel down onto xer knees and take the sheep.
Honda and Ryuji just watch as Ryou sits on the floor and plays with Johji, keeping the toddler completely inthralled for a good, long while.
"Who woulda guessed xe'd be good with kids?" Ryuji hums, a small smile on his face.
"I'm not surprised at all, really."
"I'm playing pretend, not deaf," Ryou chides them, but the smile on xyrs face was a show that xe were being playful.
Ryuji trots over to the baby-bag and digs around for another toy, finding a rubber goat that looked like it was from the same set, before setting down with the other two and joining in.
"Unle!" Johji points at Honda excitedly.
"You heard him, Honda, go get a toy, I think I saw one more," Ryuji insists.
Honda reaches into the bag without looking and grabs the first thing that feels like a rubber farm animal before heading to sit with the other three.
He doesn't want to play but he also likes playing and laughs more than fussing and crying.
When he puts his toy in the mix he realizes he grabbed a raccoon of all things.
"Rac! Rac!" Johji babbles, whacking Honda's hand with the duck.
Ryuji snickers and Ryou covers xyr mouth to muffle xyr own laughter.
"Arrr, you'll regret that, ducky!"
Johji squeals in delight and bounces his duck around to hide behind Ryuji's goat.
---
Ryou got Johji to eat with only a little fuss after "catching the mean raccoon" and then tired him out with a game of "chase you uncle until he gives back my sweater", and now the toddler is fast asleep in the middle of the floor, with his uncle to one side of him, Ryou the other, and Ryuji across from both of them.
"Thanks you guys, my brother should be home in a few and I think a sleeping toddler isn't too much on my own if you wanna head," Honda hums, rubbing Johji's back softly.
"It was nothing," Ryou smiles softly at Honda.
"We should get back to my place and finish studying," Ryuji pushes himself to his feet.
"Right," Ryou agrees.
"If you need help with him again you know our numbers," Ryuji waves at Honda on his way to the door.
"Thanks, again, I'm just glad we didn't have to deal with-"
Johji cuts Honda off, whining and straining in his sleep.
"So Bakura, you're good with-"
The door shuts abruptly, the other teens apparently making a run for it before Honda could even ask.
"Assholes."
"Assholes! Assholes! Assholes!"
"Oh, good, you're awake..."

there was nothing more xiao could love more in life. existence itself was an endless amount of pain and suffering, and most thought there was quite literally nothing xiao could find in this world enjoyable to him.
however, this all changed rather quickly once he met you.
the [element] yaksha that had fought alongside him all those years ago. he thought you had died in the war, but zhongli had found you washed up in mondstat, doing quests alongside a blonde traveller looking for their sibling, and decided to take you under his wing (pun unintended).
...
“xiao,” you called out to your friend, sitting on the railings of the wangshu inn, legs dangling over the edge of xiao’s personal resting spot. the anemo adeptus looked over to you from his spot, staring mindlessly at one off the inn's potted plants, eyes locking with yours before he sighed and walked over, leaning on the edge as well, looking over the landscape of liyue with you. if you didn’t know xiao as well and for as long as you did, you nearly would have missed the small smile blush onto his cheeks.
“quite beautiful,” you beamed, “isn’t it?” however your gaze was set on xiao, not on the scenery below you.
“yes, it is,” he said, gaze lingering on your content smile. he, too, wasn’t looking at liyue, favoring your face instead.
you two stood by each other’s sides for as long as you two could remember. you would spar together, eat together, and talk with each other about anything and everything. it wasn’t long (for you two, anyway, living for as long as you both have) before you began to use official romantic titles.
xiao had been the one to ask, surprisingly- stuttering his way through a confession before you got the message and lifted him off the ground, swooping him into your arms and planting a kiss onto his soft, thin lips.
...
“xiao,” you called out to your (now) husband of many centuries. you both had gotten older, and the age of adepti and archons was slowly outgrowing its time. you two were able to catch more breaks, which was a good thing considering xiao needed one every now and again.
“yes, y/n?” he responded, putting down the papers he was reviewing from zhongli as you leaned against the doorway of his room. you had managed to get a small home on the outskirts of liyue, where it was much more quiet and spacious, perfect for two retiring adepti.
“i know we’ve already settled down,” you started, eyes drifting down to the floor as you began to feel the pressing gaze your husband gave you, “but have you ever thought about.. settling down..?”
“i don’t think i understand-” “kids, xiao. i want a child with you...” “................oh.”
the idea of children had never crossed his mind before. he was always too busy protecting liyue to think about what he would want.
years ago, he would have been angry at the thought. him? settle down? with tiny people running around everywhere, that he was responsible for?? no thank you...
the realization made xiao chuckle.
now, he was older, and he relished the thought. “perhaps...” he began, putting the papers down and walking up to you, placing a hand on your chest, “a family wouldn’t be so bad.”
he had seen the way you treated the children of liyue. they all loved the [element] adeptus that would stop by every now and then for a good snack at the wanmin restaurant. “you’d be an excellent father, y/n,” he planted a soft kiss on your cheek.
you couldn’t get rid of the smile on your face, leaning down and kissing your husband on the lips over and over.
...
you needed to ask for zhongli’s help. as two men, it was impossible for you to have children. as adepti however, now that was something that could be helped.
zhongli assisted you two in preforming a small spell that was able to grant you both a child with the combined traits from both your souls. once enough energy was formed into a little ball in front of you two, zhongli used some of his archon magic and formed the energy into a living, breathing baby girl.
you looked at xiao, who held the child awkwardly in his hands. you placed yours on top of his, carefully guiding xiao’s hands so that he held her more comfortably.
she had your hair, and his eyes, including a little diamond on her forehead in the color of your vision.
a drop of water fell onto her cheek, and she her face contorted in reaction. you looked up at xiao’s face to see he was silently crying, face stuck in a position with his mouth slightly agape, eyes wide in amazement. “she’s beautiful,” he whispered, and you put your hand on the back of his head, touching his forehead against yours as you both looked down at your new daughter. “she is,” you responded, kissing him as you held your husband and new daughter close.
...
“babas!!” your daughter called out excitedly, running up to you and xiao as you made your way to zhongli’s office. “hey there little one!” you said excitedly, opening your arms for her to run into as zhongli trailed behind her, “how was your day with yeye?”
“good,” she said, planting a kiss on your cheek, then moving to give xiao one, too. he placed a hand on her back, one of his rare content smiles present on his face, “yeye and i went to the harbor and watched the ships for a while. i got to see gugu hu tao and gugu ganyu. then, yeye and i went to go eat at the wanmin restaurant, and i saw jiejie xiangling! and we spent the rest of the day here at yeye's work.”
“she even drew a picture,” zhongli added, showing you two the paper with colorful scribbles on it. xiao took it in his hands, holding the drawing up so that all of you could see. a little girl in the middle, with a dot on her forehead. a tall man next to her, also sporting a similar, purple dot. and two even taller men on the other side, striking a resemblance to you and zhongli. they were all holding hands by a house, with a bright blue sky above, and a shining, yellow sun. “our little girl is an artist!” you said, lifting your daughter above your head as she giggled.
you waved goodbye to zhongli, as your daughter yelled a “BYEEE YEYEEE!!” to him over your shoulder. you walked hand in hand back home- your daughter between you and xiao, holding each of your hands as you swung her back and forth, lifting her up so that she could kick her legs in the air. the three of you laughed all the way home together.
there really was nothing xiao could love more in life than this.
