Hi I wrote a little thing based on this art by ultimatedirk (which is really cool go reblog it)
"I want to be kind," Sky says, and it is a decision. It is an act of mercy, the demon king spitting out a curse as he stays his blade, just long enough to give him a chance.
"I want to be kind," Four says, and it is teamwork. It is learning how to act in balance, to never stifle the part of himself that can see the best in people.
"I want to be kind," Time says, and it is a prayer. It is a plea to the universe to let him stay innocent, please, just a little. Just enough.
"I want to be kind," Twilight says, and it is a reflection of his home. It is what he was raised to be, it is his parents and his brother and his village.
"I want to be kind," Wind says, and it is a choice. It is stubbornness, paired with a sword he was never meant to wield and a power he was never meant to have. He made himself a hero, he can make himself kind, too.
"I want to be kind," Legend says, and it is a scream. It is sinking in nails and teeth and refusing to allow this, too, to be taken. It is pain and desperation and defiance.
"I want to be kind," Hyrule says, and it is quiet determination. It is finding the beauty in the broken, the kindness in the suffering. It is a search, but one that is worth it.
"I want to be kind," Warriors says, and it is a surrender. It is laying down his sword, allowing himself to believe that kindness is not weakness, is not an opening for betrayal.
"I want to be kind," Wild says, and it is a rewriting. It is a new identity, pieced together by his own hands, formed into what he wants it to be, and no one else can tell him that it is too soft, too gentle. He can make himself that way, and he does.

Headcanons for being the forgetful Avenger
Avengers x reader
warnings:
a/n: it not too long i so sorry
prompt: @glitchy-bean: “Hi!!! I hope you're doing good!!! Could I request smth with a really forgetful reader + the avengers gang? More like found family than anything romantic at all with a teen reader if that's okay!!!”
Tumblr media
“well sorry” -you, consistently “i cant remember everything”
“you can’t remember anything” -nat
“yeah, y/n, were you dropped on the head as a baby or something?” -tony
“cut it out, guys. it’s not their fault they forgot thor’s birthday. besides, hes had a couple thousand” -steve
“are you calling me old, captain?” -thor
“at least im not the only one” -steve
it wasn’t just birthdays you forgot
much much more serious than that
rendezvous points, mission details, plans of attack, perp descriptions, where you put your keys, where you put your gun
you name it you forgot it
i mean—not always, but enough for it to be the running joke
“keep your comms on, y/n. not having a disaster like last time when you couldn’t remember whether to cut the red wire or green wire” -tony
“you wish i cut the wrong one” -you
uh, no, that’s very harsh. i moreso wished you didn’t scare us half to death by nearly digging your grave” -tony
“oh ok i forgot” -you
“who left their macaroni and cheese in the microwave?” -vision
“damn! its cold. and crusted a little. how long did i leave this in here?” -you, poking your tray with a fork “and why are you using the microwave? you dont eat”
“this is a shared space, is it not?” -vision
“he’s got you there” -steve
“you’re just ganging up on me because you’re all miserable and you want me to be miserable too. i’m going to drive one of tony’s expensive cars now, you can’t stop me” -you, storming out
you walked right back in
“what’d you forget?” -steve
“wallet, phone, keys” -you
tony noticed
“where is y/n going with my car?” -tony
“not sure, just out” -steve
“probably gonna forget their turn signal and crash into someone’s car” -tony
as far as missions went, though, you were a bit of a powerhouse so you didn’t really need to be looked after on that front…just had to make sure not to blow anyone else’s cover
“hey, what’s the codeword again?” -you
“check your wrist, kid” -nat
“oh, right…okay thanks” -you
“*gasp* was i supposed to give the signal? i just kinda went in” -you
“ok, who told y/n they could give the signal. speak up now” -tony
*clint loudly snickering over comms*
kinda forgetting what you’re talking about in the middle of sentences sometimes but like, just glitching out
“something smells like it’s burning” -you “my cookies…”
you forgot to set a timer
and forgot you were making cookies
the avengers honestly did find it endearing
just a hyper kid who cant get their thoughts in a solid line
but they’d continue making jabs at you constantly
“maybe wanda can fix your memory problems” -tony
“i will not” -wanda
“oh well nevermind then” -tony
honestly with all your forgetfulness, you worried as you dusted away if anyone would forget about you

NERD'S FALLING IN LOVE ALERT
you guys met through leo, strangely enough
jason had been hanging around bunker nine when a goddess walked in-
jk jk jk but that's fr what he thought
you handed off some blueprints to leo, explaining what each one was, getting excited as he bounced ideas off of you
"oh, right, this is jason. jason, y/n," leo introduced with a wave of his hand, walking away as he went to put the blueprints in a special place
"oh! lovely to meet you," you said, offering him your free hand
"y-yeah, same- same here," he stuttered through his sentence, unable to pull his eyes from you.
you breathed out a laugh, ducking your head and turning away from the blonde boy, chewing on your lip as you called your leave
jason stayed put, watching you go, unable to move, breathe, speak-
"dude, don't drool in here. that's gross and also a slipping hazard," leo mocked, though he was growing excited at the prospects of playing matchmaker with piper.
but he didn't need to, as you stomped up to the zeus cabin the next morning during breakfast
jason had been sitting there, lonely as could be, passively reading some history book chiron had lent to him while chewing away at an apple
"hey, jason, i was just- oh my gods, i love that book!" you cheered, your thoughts getting cut off as you noticed the book in his hand
jason jumped, his eyes instantly darting up to you in a panic, his heart working double time
"what chapter are you on?? it gets so good after five," you rambled, leaning towards the boy with an excited glimmer in your eyes that jason was rapidly falling in love with
"just finished five. it's gets better than that?" he questioned, attempting a joke and earning giggles from you.
his new favorite prize
all good love stories start with the bonding over a wwii book, duh!!
then, you guys started trading books
you gave him one about architecture that annabeth had gifted to you and he gave you one on aerodynamics leo had given to him as a joke
you guys traded books for a few weeks until you came up to him, meeting at the previously declared trading spot, though this time the book was clutched to your chest
"okay okay, so...i- i annotated this one. for, uh, for you," you muttered, holding the book out to him.
jason beamed a soft smile, taking it from your hands like it was the finest gold.
"that was very sweet, y/n," mused jason, which left both of you blushing
you quickly stole his book from him and marched away
jason was eager to read the book, shooing away everyone so he could lay in his cabin the whole day and read what you had to say about the book
naturally, the highlighter and tabs were color coded, a little legend in your handwriting at the start of the book
this was the most jason ever smiled while reading a damn book and it was because of you
he finished the damn thing in one day, refusing to stop until he was done
the very last annotation had jason jumping out of his bed and racing out of his cabin in search of you
there, on the last page, in light blue pen it read, "now, when are you going to catch on that i like you and ask me on a date, jason grace?"
it did it a lightening fast speed, finding you and the words to ask you on a date falling out of his lips
you just smirked up at him, nodding your head in agreement
athena always has a plan, right?
typically, most dates consist of you and jason hanging out in his cabin and reading
sometimes you sit in jason's lap, or you guys are just next to each other, or you guys are other sides of the cabin
it doesn't really matter as long as youre together
when you guys take snack breaks, you explain everything that's happened in your books since the last snack break
jason made you a bookmark, putting his own sketches on there of an owl and an eagle
you called him cheesy but also haven't been seen without it since soooo
you like to steal jason's glasses away, putting them on your face as he tries to take them back
"now im gonna finish my book first! ha!" you cheer, snatching his glasses and taking rapid steps to the other side of the cabin
"get back here!! this is ableist!!" he calls after you, trying his best to find you with his blurry vision
you gently put them back on his face after he catches you in his arms, planting a soft kiss to his lips
"hmmm. you look better as a blurry blob," he smirks, the look on his face giving away that he doesn't mean a word of it
"looks like i'll just have to steal them away again," you tease hands inching closer to the glasses again only for jason to swat you hands away
you guys are a pair of nerds together, but the cutest pair of nerds to like every nerd fr fr

Lesson 37 spoilers below - it's screenshot heavy again because OH BOY we had a lot going on this time too. I took almost 100 screenshots lol. But don't worry, I narrowed it down... uh but there are still a lot so I apologize for that.
I do believe I said in my last post that if they were going to go full Dante, they would bury Lucifer in ice.
I only said that because I WAS NOT EXPECTING THEM TO GO FULL DANTE.
Now listen, it's been a long time since I've read the Divine Comedy, so there may be a lot more references that I am missing. I can tell you that the four circles or sections or whatever that Simeon named for us are from Dante. That right there is straight from Dante's Inferno, along with their names and who they're supposed to punish. I don't really feel like any of this has much relevance except that they used it as a backdrop and to create reasons for us to lose most of the people who came to help us as we went.
And truly the lore was fascinating in general, but there are a couple of specific pieces about this that made me go EXCUSE YOU.
It's the Celestial Realm again, guys. Cocytus is part of their domain. And the last area is for those who betrayed "him" as they so eloquently put it lol. Both Mammon and Lucifer are considered traitors in this regard, but I kind of suspect that if the rest of the bros made it to that level, they would've had a similar experience.
Anyway, I was pissed. I was like Diavolo in the hard lesson.
Right, so let's talk Mephistopheles. I'm not familiar enough with the legend of Faust or its variations to know if the way they described his special power is based on that. However, I highly suspect it is at least somewhat inspired by it. Considering making a deal with the devil is what that story is all about.
But aside from all that - I LOVE HIM OH NO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHAT. This guy... all this time I thought he was really stuck up. And like I kinda get it, considering how he was supposed to be Diavolo's right hand man and everything. But he's straight up saying that he underestimated them. He seems to have no problem saying yeah, turns out I was wrong and you guys impressed me. So don't go around giving up now. AND he says they learned it from Lucifer? Like... he gets them. He understands them. And I was not expecting that at all. He keeps surprising me and I'm loving it.
Tumblr media
Welcome to my life, Mephi.
Tumblr media
It's pointless to resist.
Tumblr media
I'm telling you, this is just how it always goes.
Tumblr media
BUT OH! I'm not gonna lie, this made me feel something. All the brothers usually say such nice things to me, but this guy is basically like ARE YOU STUPID? And I love it?!?!? Augh I'm sorry I didn't give you a chance before, sir.
Okay, now let's talk Solomon being the hot old grandpa that he is. I SWEAR every time he shows up lately it's been making me more insane about him.
WE SUMMONED HIM. We needed him in Cocytus and he wasn't there, so we straight up SUMMONED HIM. We couldn't do it without Mammon giving us his power 'cause our magic is weak, but STILL!?!?
I think Simeon referred to it as teleporting, but really it was the same as summoning him. I think the words were even the summoning spell words.
Tumblr media
If this was actually me we were talking about, I would start doing it ALL THE TIME. Consider yourself on call, old man.
And then we got this excellent exchange:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only am I always here for big bro Mammon getting protective, but Solomon bringing it right back was also great.
Okay, now let's talk about Raphael and Simeon.
Do you think we're dealing with Michael disguised as Raphael again? For some reason I don't think so, but... at this point, it's like how do you tell? I'm going to talk about it with the assumption that it's actually Raphael and not Michael.
Simeon during this part gave me chills. Because when Raphael showed up and spoke the punishment or whatever and Luke was about to protest, Simeon silenced him. Simeon wouldn't let Luke protest because he knew that wouldn't be good for our baby boy. Simeon was prepared to take the fall instead. And he wasn't about to just let things stand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't accept it. I swear, Simeon's character is far more complex than anyone gives him credit for. He doesn't get anywhere near the amount of appreciation he deserves. I HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT IT.
Right, but back to Raphael.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baby. He's crying. He was just delivering the ultimatum, the decision about the brothers' punishment, and he was crying. I was so surprised, it was so soft and sad and I wanted to hug him. And look at Simeon's frown. AND THEN
Tumblr media
EVEN LUCIFER. This man is chained up in some ice and he still sees how Raphael is struggling and feels sorry for him. (Like maybe he's been there before himself...)
This is why I think it really is Raphael. Because this feels like such a significant revelation of his character, I think it'd be a disservice to him if we found out later it wasn't him at all. So I'm hoping it's still him.
Now. Let's talk about Diavolo. I'm pretty sure this was in the hard lesson, so be aware of that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is so pissed. I don't think I've ever seen Diavolo quite like this. Worried, sometimes serious, but angry? Like to the point where he thinks he might lose control? I don't think that's happened, has it?
AND BARB. His reaction is so interesting! At first he has this look of surprise, but then LOOK AT THAT SMILE. Here's Dia being like, I need you to stop me, but you can't tell me that smile on Barb's face belongs to anyone who's going to stop anyone. He looks like he's looking forward to it. I love him so much it's stupid. (Also I think Barbatos is just as much of a menace as Solomon is, he's just better at hiding it. Where do you think Sol gets it from??)
And of course the lesson ended with Lucifer BREAKING THROUGH HIS CHAINS. Ugh another cliffhanger.
In general, I really loved the brotherly affection that was running amok in this chapter. They were annoying each other and protecting each other and sacrificing for each other and it was all amazing. They banded together because they care so much about Lucifer, there's no way they would leave him to his fate.
And once again, the Celestial Realm is to blame. I think it makes sense that they're doing this. Before, they said that the seven brothers assuming positions of power in the Devildom meant that the power balance between the Devildom and the Celestial Realm was out of whack. That's why they wanted the brothers back. But the brothers wouldn't come back.
And while the Celestial Realm threatened war, they didn't do that, either.
Do you think perhaps the Celestial Realm collaborated with the House of Lords to get Lucifer trapped in Cocytus? The House of Lords controlled the train where everything went down. The Celestial Realm controls Cocytus. They probably knew that Lucifer's brothers would try to rescue him and counted on them getting trapped in the ice, too.
But perhaps they weren't expecting any interference from Mephisto or Simeon. They had to be expecting MC, I would think. Maybe they underestimated MC because they're human? And maybe they thought Diavolo would just accept it? (If so they are duuuuumb lol.)
Okay just a couple more screenshots because they made me laugh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PLEASE. I love their dynamic SO MUCH.
Tumblr media
Hmm. Is that a threat, Barb? 'Cause uh... you can casually threaten me with that slight smile any time I MEAN yeah, you tell 'em.
Tumblr media
I cackled about what do you mean "ahaha" like I can't believe Levi actually said that out loud lol.
Tumblr media
Cheer up, Belphie. Let Asmo live the otome dream, won't you?
Okay, okay, I'm done. Overall, I quite enjoyed this chapter, but I'm still sensing more drama, probably until the end of the season, honestly.
You think Nightbringer will make an appearance before it's over? It's almost like I forgot this whole new app was made to tell a story about him. He's just been mostly MIA. UNLESS someone else has been him in disguise all along...
Nope. No. I refuse to get into theorizing, this post is already too long.

Quinn had been hearing about this all day, he was tired. Quinn had liked some girl's post on instagram and you kept bringing it up, it was getting his last nerve. He didn't understand why you thought he would do anything like that when he was with you. He tried to explain it a millions times already, Quinn had never been unfaithful and he wasn't about to start now.
As he sat there, listening to you go on and on about the Instagram post, he felt so frustrated and slightly angry. "Fuck, Y/N."
"What? She was in a bikini Quinn, come on."
"You're overreacting," Quinn retorted, his frustration evident in his voice. He couldn't understand why a simple like on a post had blown up into a full-blown argument.
"It's just a picture, Y/N. It doesn't mean anything. I can't control what people post on their profiles," he added, trying to reason with you. Quinn had never intended to hurt your feelings, but it seemed like every attempt to explain himself fell on deaf ears. "Plus I already went back and un-liked it, what else do you want?"
Your arms remained crossed, and you shot back, "It's not just about the picture, Quinn. It's about you liking it. It's like you're encouraging that kind of attention."
Quinn let out a bitter laugh. "You don't need to get jealous, Y/N." He watched you, anger lingering in his gaze. He knew this seriously couldn't be about a photo, there had to be more. "You have me, okay?"
"Do I?"
He didn't need your brattiness, especially right now. Quinn's frustration bubbled up as he heard your retort. The words hung in the air, he felt a surge of anger at your response. "Jesus." He scoffed as he looked at you, anger in gaze. "Do you want me to prove it?"
You rolled your eyes at his words which made him even more angry.
"If you wanna be a fucking brat, fine." Quinn glared at you. "Get on your knees. I'll prove it to you, Y/N."
Your expression turned from annoyance to desperate quickly as you heard his words, your heartbeat speeding up. You knew this wasn't the best way to solve this issue, but your pussy was telling you do it was. You did as you were told and got on your knees, right in front of Quinn, looking up at him.
He unbuckled his belt and took off his pants effortlessly, pushing them aside. He sat back down on his chair and looked at you waited for you to continue, and you wasted no time -- Quinn wasn't in the mood to wait.
You took his hard cock out of his waistband, holding it tightly as you looked up at him. "Fuck," he groaned. He grabbed your hair and pushed your mouth to his tip and you quickly slipped him inside your mouth, savoring the sweet taste of his pre-cum.
"Yeah, that's it, fuck." Quinn's head fell back as you kept bobbing your head up and down his cock. He pushed your head further on his cock, knowing you could take him deeper in your mouth, making you gag. "Yeah? Choke on it, fuck. You still jealous, baby?"
He put your hair in a makeshift ponytail so that he could have complete control on your movements as you gagged around his length. "You can't be jealous when you're the one who's sucking my dick now, sweetheart, you know that you're the only one who makes me feel this way."
He pushed your head further until his tip hit the back of your throat, your tears spilling as you gagged around his cock. Your chin was covered in your spit and his pre-cum as you kept bobbing up and down on his cock; you couldn't even remember why you were mad.
"You're such a fucking slut, all you needed was a reminder who's cock you gag on and now, you're fine, huh?" Quinn grunted out those nasty words with each thrust of your mouth.
You felt Quinn twitch in your mouth and you knew he was close. A few more thrusts into your mouth and he was cumming, all while gripping your hair. As soon as he finished cumming inside you, he pulled you off his cock. You caught your breath as Quinn gripped your hair, pulling it upward so he could give you a sloppy kiss.

Sidney Crosby x Zegras!reader
warnings: swearing, age gap, mentions of drinking, couple fighting
————————————————————————
The sun shined through the windows of the hotel room as Y/N Zegras turned over to see her boyfriend, Sidney Crosby, already awake and looking at her.
“Good morning baby.” He said in his deep morning voice that made Y/N swoon. She leaned over to give him a kiss as he grabbed her hips and pulled her on top of him. Y/N let out a giggle before Sidney pulled her in for another kiss, that quickly started to turn into something more.
“Sid,” Y/N said, pulling away as his lips found the sweet spot in her neck. “As much as I would love to do this, right now, I have to get going or Trevor-”
“Baby,” he started to whine. “You cannot say your brother’s name when I’m trying to be sexy.” This made Y/N let out a loud laugh as she hid her face in Sidney’s neck.
“I’m sorry.” She said after her fit of giggles. “I just had to let you know I really have to go. Trevor thinks I’m staying at a friends so I need to get back to the house.” She explained further. Sidney nodded. Y/N could tell something was up, but she let it go as she got up to change. She could feel Sidney’s eyes watching her the whole time, so she turned around an winked at him. He smiled widely as he too then got up and started to change.
“Are we ever going to tell him?”
“Yes, Sid. We are. I promise. But I have to think about how he’s going to react. I mean, you’re a hockey legend and we’re 14 years apart, and-”
“So it’s about the age gap?” He interrupted, suddenly getting defensive.
“Sid, no. It’s about how Trevor is going to react, and that’s just one think to keep in mind.” Y/N explained. Sidney rolled his eyes but nodded as he went into the bathroom.
“Sid don’t do this before I leave. Talk to me.” She said as she followed him to the bathroom. He sighed as his eyes met Y/N’s in the mirror. He turned around and picked his girlfriend up setting her on the sink. He leaned in and kissed her lips which she gladly returned.
“I’m sorry.” Sidney started. “You know I get-”
“Insecure about the age gap. Yeah, I know.” Y/N said with a smile. “I don’t care about it. I just don’t want other people to.” Sidney nodded and let the girl down so she could collect the rest of her things.
“You’ll be at the game, eh?” Sidney asks before she walks out the hotel door. Y/N rolls her eyes and pecks his lips.
“No, I’m gonna skip the game my brother and boyfriend are playing against each other.” She said sarcastically. “I’ll see you later babe.” She said as she made her way out of the hotel.
Y/N hopped into her car and made the quick drive back to Trevor and Jamie’s. It was still only 10 in the morning, so she figured neither of the boys were up yet. When she unlocked the door, she was surprised to see Jamie already awake on the couch.
“Hey Jame.” Y/N called out and she slipped off her shoes.
“Good morning.” He called back, turning to look at the girl. “You’re back early. Expected you to be gone longer.” She shrugged, not really having a response.
“Nah, I just wanted to get ready at my own place and not in a tiny hotel-” she stopped her words and she realized her slip up. The boys thought she was staying the night at a friends house. Jamie raised an eyebrow as he got up to interrogate the girl.
“What were you doing at a hotel miss?” Jamie asked with his hands in his hips. Y/N squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to think of a response.
“Jamie, if I tell you this, you have to promise on your life you won’t tell Trevor.” Jamie nodded, suddenly very curious. Y/N took a deep breath before she started.
“I’m dating Sidney Crosby.” She said at once. Jamie looked at her for a minute before bursting out laughing. He laughed for minutes before eventually wiping his eyes from laughing so hard.
“Gosh, Y/N/N, you really got me. Okay now what’s the real reason?” Y/N looked at him with a deadpan expression. She pulled out her phone and opened her camera, showing Jamie endless photos of the couple. His eyes widened as he realized his best friend’s sister wasn’t joking.
“Y/N you’re fucking joking.” She shook her head.
“Nope.”
“I-I can’t comprehend this. How long?” Jamie exclaimed, almost a little too loud.
“Keep your voice down!” She hushed. “It’s been like 6 months.” Jamie really couldn’t comprehend what she was saying now.
“Y/N, that’s insane. How did this happen?” She went into detail about how she met Sid one night at a bar after a game, and it blossomed from there. Then she explained the reasons behind keeping it a secret, which Jamie understood, but he couldn’t understand why she’d keep it from Trevor.
“It’s hard having a brother in the league. And then you take into account what people might say if you start dating someone in the league. And I don’t want Trevor to think the same. Sid wants to tell him, but I’m just not ready.” Jamie nodded along to the words Y/N was saying. He pulled the girl into a hug as her emotions started to get the best of her.
“I think you’re making the right decision from keeping it from the media, but I think Trevor deserves to know.” Y/N sighed knowing Jamie was right.
“He does. And I’ll tell him. But maybe after the game so he doesn’t try anything.” Jamie agreed, knowing she had a point. As the pair shared a moment they heard Trevor’s door open and they scrambled apart.
“Morning.” Trevor mumbled as he rubbed his eyes. They both replied with a good morning before making their way to their respective rooms.
———
Hours later Y/N and Jamie were walking into the stadium for the game. Jamie was feeling a lot better with his shoulder, so he was going to join Y/N in the stands tonight.
She wore her Zegras jersey, but had a Crosby jersey shirt underneath, secretly supporting both of her boys. They made their way to their seats on the glass next to the Ducks bench. Y/N was nervous not only for the guys to play against each other, but she feared Trevor may be able to see something between her and Sid.
Jamie put his hand on her thigh as the puck dropped, sensing her nerves. She gave him a small smile, thankful for the gesture, as the game was underway.
The game was relatively chill for the most part. Trevor and Sidney seems to be sharing the ice civilly, and Y/N finally got her nerves out. It wasn’t until the after the first intermission she noticed a slight chirp from Sidney to Trevor. It seemed like nothing, so Y/N shook it off.
Then, all of a sudden, the demeanor changed. After the whistle Trevor took a shot, which Sidney didn’t like. He came up from behind Trevor and bumped into his shoulder hard enough to knock him to his knees.
It seemed to be over until Trevor came up behind Sidney and crossed checked him, laying him out. This caused Penguins players to swarm around Trevor and soon enough there was a 5 on 5 fight on the ice. And just as you thought things were settling down, Trevor and Sidney came face to face with each other again and dropped their gloves.
Y/N grabbed Jamie’s hand as she hid her face into his shirt. She hasn’t realized she was crying until she felt Jamie rub his hand down her back to soothe her.
“God, what happened Jame? Why are they doing that?” She looked back up to see the men finally pulled apart and yelling at each other. The chirps could barely be heard, but from where she was sitting, Y/N heard one perfectly from one of Sidney’s teammates.
“First Y/N is Sid’s bitch and now you!” Y/N froze and her eyes widened. She couldn’t believe someone would say that about a woman, let alone the girlfriend of a friend and teammate. Trevor looked like he was fuming as he tried to go after the player.
Sidney at this point was halfway down the tunnel when he heard her name. He raced back to see what was going on.
“Keep my fucking sister’s name out of your mouth!” Trevor screamed back as he was held back by refs. Y/N was more than anything pissed off as she left Jamie in his seat and stormed to the locker room.
She first went to see Trevor who was sitting all along by his locker.
“Trevor.” She called out. He looked up and saw his sister was upset. He got up and pulled her into a hug as she began to cry some more. Trevor just stood there with her and tried to get her comfortable enough to speak.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you.” Y/N sniffled. “I was afraid of how you’d react, but Sidney really wanted to. I was afraid of how you’d look at me and we never keep secrets like this and-”
“Hey, hey.” Trevor interrupted. “Y/N, I’m not even close to being mad. I would never look at you any different because of the person you’re dating. While it’s shocking, if he’s who you love he’s who you love. I can’t stop that.” Y/N nodded, happy her brother was okay with her relationship.
“I love you Trevor. And thanks for hitting that guy that called me a bitch.” She joked and pulled Trevor in for another hug. He rolled his eyes.
“He better watch his back. That’s never okay to say.” Y/N smiled at the fact her brother would always have her back. They stayed and talked a little longer before the period was ending and guys were starting to come into the locker room. When they started to enter, Y/N noticed Jamie, who made a bee line for her.
“You need to go see Sidney in the trainer’s office. He’s destroying shit in the locker room and they have him in there alone.” Y/N sighed but nodded as she made her way to where Sidney would be. She was afraid of what she’d walk into, and it definitely wasn’t what she’d expected. Sidney had never been this mad.
There were things thrown everywhere, from water bottles to chairs that were overturned. Sid had his back to Y/N so he hadn’t noticed her presence until she spoke.
“Sid?” Y/N called out. He whipped his head around and faced the girl in the doorway. Sidney was breathing heavily and had nothing but the bottom half of his uniform on. The features on his face softened as he saw Y/N standing there with a concerned look on her face.
As mad as Y/N wanted to be, she couldn’t help but want to help Sidney as she saw his cut lip and bruised cheek. But she stayed strong as she began to speak.
“What the fuck was that, Sidney?” She spit out. Sidney rolled his eyes as he got closer to the girl.
“What the fuck was what, Y/N? Your brother? He’s a punk!”
“I don’t care what you think he’s still my brother Sid!”
“Oh so now you don’t care what I think?” Sidney scoffed as he was face to face with Y/N now.
“You know what I mean! Stop twisting my words! Go be mad at someone else! Maybe like the guy who called me your bitch?” Y/N’s words stopped Sidney as he finally took a breath from the yelling. Y/N’s features softened as the couple just stood there staring at each other.
“I’ve never, ever said that about you Y/N. I don’t know why he would say that.”
“No, Sid.” Y/N shook her head. “I don’t think you would ever. I know you would never. It was just a chirp.”
“It was more than that.” He explained. “It went too far. It was unfair to you.”
“And you, Sid. A teammate disrespected you.” Sidney nodded but stayed silent. They both knew the situation went way too far.
“Can I hug you?” Sidney asked in a soft voice. Y/N smiled and nodded her head as Sidney engulfed her in a tight hug. His body was sweaty, but Y/N didn’t care in the moment.
“I love you Sid. No matter what.” He smiled and pulled Y/N up to his mouth for a kiss.
“I love you more, Y/N. I think I should go find Trevor and apologize to him.” Y/N nodded as Sidney made his way to the opposing locker room. She followed a few minutes later, just in time to see Sidney and Trevor laughing together. She smiled to herself as she saw the men.
As she made her way closer to them, Trevor saw Y/N and waved at her. She waved back and threw him a smile before he headed back on the ice. Sidney walked back towards Y/N and grabbed her hand.
“Ready to go?” He asked. Y/N nodded. As they walked away from the Ducks locker room they heard footsteps running from behind them, and all of a sudden a voice was yelling.
“Crosby! Take her back to your hotel and you’ll be sorry!” They turned to see Trevor with a playful glare before Y/N and Sidney broke out laughing.
“What’s a dork that boy is.” Y/N joked. Sidney have her a side look.
“Like he isn’t your twin.” He responded. Y/N rolled her eyes.
“I’m nothing like him.” She said, noticing Sidney Stayed quiet. “Right Sid?” Again, no response.
“Sidney Crosby are you telling me Trevor and I are alike?”
“Personality wise, oh yeah.” He said with a laugh.
“It’s not funny.” She joked. “I’m not going back to your hotel.” She threatened. Sidney knew she was bluffing, but just because, he grabbed her hand and dipped her, giving her a passionate kiss.
“How about now?” Sidney asked with a smirked. Y/N glared at him.
“Let’s go.”

Part 2
Tumblr media
It's been too long since you've seen Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw and the thought of his reaction terrified you. Not knowing how he would feel about you returning to Fightertown. Once you got the letter asking you to return you knew without a doubt Bradley would be there. The two of you didn't end things well the last time you saw each other.
Telling him how you felt and his response was not at all what you thought. He suddenly became angry and upset with you. Slamming the door on the way out as you fell on the couch crying your eyes out. Everyone was worried about you after that, but nobody dared to bring his name up to you.
You've known Bradley since you guys were children. After all you were the daughter of Tom Kazansky aka 'Iceman'. Taking after him and becoming top of your class in Top Gun. Earning the call sign of 'Frostbite'. Also, becoming the only female pilot to have three confirmed air to air strike kills. Your father was a legend amongst pilots and you were becoming one now too.
After you and Bradley graduated it seemed like you two became a lot closer. Everyone could see it except for the two of you, until one day Bradley got upset you went on a date with some other guy. Seeing that side of him had you wanting him closer, and into your arms.
It confused you beyond all doubt since you two were just friends, but then it made you realize your true feelings for him. That's when you decided to confess how you felt about him, after a bottle of wine of course.
Now here you were sitting at the bar of the Hard Deck constantly looking back to seeing when he would come in. Sipping on your beer as you nervously looked around at all different kinds of colors laughing and playing pool or shooting darts.
Wondering if these were the pilots you would be training for this mission. Turning down their offer of leading this mission ever since the accident, and settling for being an instructor instead. Your father was not happy about your choice but understood why you did it. Not wanting to lead another mission where someone else dies.
"You okay hon?" Pennys sweet voice asked when she noticed you staring off into space.
"Oh yeah I'm just thinking." Snapping out of it to look at her. "Obviously too hard huh?"
"He's going to be glad to see you." She knew exactly what and who you were thinking about.
"Yeah right he'll walk through that door and see me and walk right out." Groaning at the image and feeling yourself become saddened at the thought.
"No he won't I bet you he'll see you and have that big smile on his face and give you a big Rooster hug." She smiled at you with reassurance making your lips quirk up. "He cares about you."
"Not enough to reach out to me." Shaking your head as you finished the rest of your drink.
"You could have done the same for him." Raising her eyebrows at you with that look of 'it works both ways'. "You two just need to talk."
Not saying anything you just looked at her watching as she went to go help other patrons. Trying to repeat her words in your head that he missed you just as much as you missed him. Although it would be hard for him to forget you confessing your feelings to him. You just don't let something like that be forgotten.
In the deep part of your mind you couldn't help but think he still was upset and would want nothing to do with you. Then the two of you would have to work on this mission ignoring each other, and acting like enemies.
"Y/N?" Instantly recognizing that voice making you turn around and break from your thoughts.
"Uncle Maverick." Exclaiming as you hopped off the stool to give him a hug. "It's so good to see you."
You've known Pete Mitchell ever since you were little, and he was also your Godfather. He was like family to you and whenever you couldn't go to your father you would go to him. He was proud of you when you graduated from Top Gun, reminded him of being with your father.
Of course you knew of the feud between him and Bradley, but you didn't actually know what it was about. All you know is Maverick did something so badly that he wanted nothing to do with him. Then one day Bradley called you screaming if you knew something about his papers being pulled which of course you didn't, but he didn't believe you and continued to yell at you.
It seems like Bradley will have not only one person he can't stand here.
"It's good to see you too." Pulling back so he could sit next to you waving at Penny a blush on her cheek. "How are you?"
"I'm good I'm good." Nodding your head as you looked at your hands on the bar top. It was a lie. "How about you?"
"Well I can't complain." He gave you a nudge making you playfully roll your eyes with a smile. "I'm assuming you got a letter as well."
"Yeah I did and I was asked to be the lead in it." Once he heard that his eyes went wide a huge smile on his face like a proud father.
"Well shit congratulations I'm happy of you." Clapping a hand on your back your face remained stoic.
"I turned it down." Stating to him before he could get anything else out. "I told them I wouldn't lead this mission."
"Why would you do that?" He asked too quickly and saw the look on your face before nodding. "I get it."
Only a few people knew about the accident including Pete, since your father didn't want it to be a public thing which you were kind of thankful for. Seeing as it traumatized you, and never wanting to ever relive that moment again. Not that you were trying to sweep it under the rug you just didn't want someone reminding you of that day.
All of a sudden you heard a bell ringing and both you and Maverick looked up in confusion. Penny standing there with a huge grin on her face as everyone whooped and hollered in joy. She pointed to a sign that said 'disrespect a woman or a pilot or place your phone on the bar top and you pay for a round'.
Looking down you saw Pete's phone on the bar top making your bend your head back in laughter. He just chuckled with a shake of his head as Penny was then bombarded with men and women at the bar.
"Way to go Uncle Mav." Patting him on the back as you continued to laugh. "I'll have another one Penny."
Handing you a bottle you saw a blonde haired man with thick arms in a khaki uniform that you very much recognized walk you up to the bar. His eyes looking at Pete and then shifted over to you a small smirk on his face.
"Four beers Penny please." Looking over to Pete briefly before grabbing his drinks handing them over.
"There ya go." Giving her wonderful smile the mans gaze still lingering on you.
"Thanks hon." He then looked back to Pete. "Thanks for the drinks pops." Giving a wink before he turned around walking back to the other pilots.
"I'll be right back." Hopping off the stool as you headed to the restroom glancing over at the blonde man to see his eyes on you.
The other three guys he was with all looked over to what he was looking at. You hated when people stared at you like that even if they didn't know who you were. Just wanting to keep your last name from being revealed to anybody for as long as possible.
Looking away you went into the bathroom stepping in front of the mirror placing your hands on either side of the sink. Staring at yourself asking yourself if you could really do this.
Could you handle the pressure of this mission? Could you handle being around someone that you love who doesn't feel the same? Starting to doubt yourself even more now, but reminding yourself of Penny's words.
Splashing cold water on your neck you gathered yourself quickly before heading out the door. Glancing around you noticed that name blonde haired man now standing in front of you. His eyes glanced you up and down taking in your torn jeans and white tank top.
"Hi there darlin." He said twirling a toothpick between his white teeth. "What's your name?"
Ah he clearly didn't recognize you and had no idea who you are then. Maybe you could have some fun with this.
"My names Y/N." His hand lifted up to grab yours in a shake you didn't bother to give him your last name since it would give away too much.
"The names Jake Seresin." Stating with such pride it almost made you roll your eyes. "Call sign Hangman."
"Hangman?" Repeating with a confused look on your face but he just smiled.
"You ever meet a pilot in person?" Shaking your head playing the stupid girl he probably thought you were.
"Well todays your lucky day sweetheart." He stepped closer to you this time. "I happen to be the best pilot there is."
This guy needed an ego check or something surprised his head hasn't exploded yet from thinking too highly of himself. Never the less you decided to go along with whatever game he was playing.
"Is that so?" Asking him crossing your arms over your chest his eyes glancing down briefly before smiling at you.
"Come join me and my fellow pilots." Placing his hand on your back leading you over to a group of khaki uniformed pilots playing pool.
"Guys this here is Y/N." He introduced you making everyone's eyes gaze over to you.
"Hi." Squeaking out like you were some shy little girl feeling utterly stupid.
"This is Coyote, Payback, Fanboy, Phoenix and Bob." Pointing to everyone each of them giving you a wave or smile.
These were probably all the pilots that you were going to help train on this mission. It absolutely terrified you how many lives you were potentially holding in your hands. A part of you feeling bad for not voicing who you actually were, but you didn't want the looks and questions who knew they would ask.
"Still bothering innocent women I see?" The girl Phoenix spoke up making everyone laugh.
"Couldn't help myself Phoenix." Pulling you closer to him making you a little bit uncomfortable. "She's a beautiful woman."
"Which doesn't make sense as to how you got her?" Fanboy joined in everyone nodding their heads in agreement.
"Yeah she doesn't know who you really are." Phoenix responded as she looked at you.
"Judging by the call sign I think I know everything I need to." Your voice ringing out making the others look at you with wide grins and laughter.
"Ouch darlin you hurt me." Placing a hand over his heart acting fake wounded.
"Besides I only go for real talented pilots." Your words had everyone's mouth wide open hollering.
Typically you were as tough as nails and always spoke your mind. In order to keep up this charade of being a normal person you kept your real personality down a few notches. Just wait until the next morning when they would see you, and you just couldn't wait for their reactions.
"I like her." Phoenix said and everyone nodded in agreement making you smile.
"Are you a pilot or?" Coyote asked once everyone quieted down.
Before you could respond your gaze wondered over to the front door watching as a couple people walked in. The person in front who you immediately recognized as Bradley. Wearing an old Hawaiian shirt with a white tank and faded blue jeans. A pair of aviators shielding you from his eyes.
He was a lot bigger the last time you saw him, and certainly looked better looking than the last time. Feeling yourself starting to drool as you looked him feeling like a creep for just staring at him. Thankfully he didn't even see you otherwise you would have been incredible embarrassed.
Something that was definitely different about him was the mustache he was rockin. He definitely didn't have that the last time you saw him, and you gotta admit he looked really good wearing it. He looked just like his dad which made you smile at the thought.
The butterflies in your stomach had you feel lightheaded and flustered. Your full attention was on him watching as he greeted a couple people before his gaze turned over to your group. Feeling your nerves get the better of you you tried shielding yourself from his view.
Not wanting to be seen as you saw him walking towards your group. He still hadn't seen you yet which you were thankful for. Maybe you could sneak away without being seen, and you could avoid the awkward conversation.
Shielding your face by Jake's side when he was literally just a few feet from you talking to the other pilots. Hearing his voice had your heart fluttering and you wanted nothing more than to say something and run into his arms.
"Bradshaw." Hangman greeted with a smirk making Bradley look over in your direction. "As I live in breathe."
"Hangman." He responded back with slight tone animosity making it known the two didn't exactly like each other. "You look... good."
"Oh I'm good I'm very good." His cocky tone was really starting to get to you feeling an arm wrap around your waist.
Quickly glancing your eyes over without moving your head watching him as he leaned against a pole placing his hands in front of him.
"Thought they wanted the best of the best." Bradley shot back at him making you smile into Jake's arm.
The pair just stared at each other like there was a silent war going on between them. The group looked between the two waiting for someone to speak first. Things were becoming too much for you and you just wanted to get out of there. Until you felt someone staring at you.
"Whose your victim tonight?" His words had your stomach drop feeling dread take over your body.
"This gorgeous girl is Y/N." Holding you to his side like you were some sort of prize. "She's never met a pilot in real life."
Keeping your face hidden hoping he wouldn't recognize you or act like he didn't know who you were. Glancing over you made immediate eye contact with him and you watched his lip twitch instantly recognizing you. His eyes looking to Hangman's arm around your waist making his hand ball into a fist.
You were still just as beautiful since he saw you last. Beating himself up for how he left things with you, and not telling you how he felt. Once he was told his papers were pulled he accused you of knowing and not saying anything to stop it to which he felt betrayed.
"Really?" He asked not taking his eyes off you his jaw clenching for multiple reasons.
"Figured if she were to meet a pilot it should be the best there is." He said cockily making your roll your eyes this time.
"But you aren't the best pilot." Bradley responded back making you and others chuckle. "She is."
Your eyes went wide not knowing who he was talking about maybe hoping he was talking about the other woman Phoenix instead. That wasn't the case though when you were completely unaware that he was pointing to you. Slowly moving your head to look at him his eyes solely on you.
He had this look on his face that would couldn't make out. Until you saw that look in his eye that told you he was about to blow your cover. Please Bradley don't you mouthed to him, and he just smirked.
"Yeah right and I'm Superman." Hangman joked not noticing how you were now frozen in place.
"God your such an idiot Hangman." At first you didn't know who he was talking to. "You clearly don't know who this is do you?"
Feeling everyone look over at you as you continued to stare at him shaking your head at him begging him not to tell. Judging by the look on his face you knew what he was about to do to you.
Your breathing was becoming very heavy and shallow. The air in your lungs was becoming restricted and you could feel your palms sweating waiting for him to spill the beans. The glancing from you to Bradley waiting in anticipation.
"What are you talking about?" Phoenix spoke up as Jake continued to stare at him a confused look on his face.
"Who is she?" Someone else said but you didn't know who.
"Your little date over there is a pilot herself." Jake snapped his head down to look at you an angry look on your face.
"Her names Y/N Kazansky daughter of Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky." Soon as they heard your last name some of them gasped or their eyes went wide in shock. "Call sign 'Frostbite."
"Holy shit." Hearing someone say as you now felt all eyes on you, but your focus was on the man with the mustache glaring at him feeling like steam was coming off your body.
"You two know each other then?" Bob asked really speaking for the first time that night.
"Unfortunately." His words had you wincing and your heart slowly breaking at how horribly he was treating you.
Once Bradley saw your reaction he felt bad but he couldn't take them back. A part of him wanted to walk up to you and hold you and tell you he was sorry he knew it wouldn't fix everything. Even though the group was going to find out eventually you wanted it to be on your terms, and not through Bradley who did it out of spite and possibly hatred.
Before anyone else could say anything you tore yourself away from the group, and practically zoomed out of there. Feeling a tear running down your cheek Penny watching with concern making Maverick turn around to look as well.
One things for sure that you know now. Bradley Bradshaw hates you.

“Come in. Sit. Sit. Sit” Hoshi insists, gesturing toward the couch he’s had Woozi trapped on for the past five minutes. Grabbing your beer from the coffee table, you flop down on the couch beside Woozi, throwing your legs across his lap. “What’s his deal?” you tilt your head to whisper into your boyfriend’s ear. Woozi wraps an arm around you, bringing you into one of his infamously cozy hugs. “It’s the street racing thing again. Something about a headless houseman.” “Horseman!” Hoshi corrects, pacing the floor in front of you.
This is as excited as you’ve ever seen him and, as amusing as it is, he’ll set fire to your carpet if he keeps pacing like this. “Alright, alright. Take a breath and tell us about this Headless Hou..." "Horse, baby” Woozi whispers, resting his head on your shoulder. “Horseman.” Hoshi stops in his tracks, waiting for one of you to poke fun at him. When neither of you does, he sits down on the edge of the coffee table, leaning in a bit like an older brother about to torture his siblings with a scary story.
“Okay, so, she’s…” “She?” Woozi interrupts, “I thought it was a man.” “Yes, she!” Hoshi continues, “She was the best street racer in the underground. They called her the Headless Horseman because she always wore a helmet to hide her identity. No one and I mean no one has ever been able to figure out who she is.” For a fleeting moment, the playful expression on your face turns to one of panic. It’s a blink and you miss it kind of panic. The guys blinked. They missed it. But your sweaty palms and racing heart didn’t.
“So...what? You plan on solving the mystery?” The question comes out sharper than you intended. “You’ve always been good at things like that” you add, attempting to soften the impact. “Oh,” he smiles, surprised but flattered, “Thank you but no. I’ve tried though. She was my favorite for a long time. Still is. I’ve never seen anyone drive like that before. It got to the point where most guys hated racing her because she was unbeatable.”
“What happened?” Woozi asks, more invested in the tale than he anticipated.
“Hmm?”
“You keep saying ‘was’ like something happened.”
Hoshi’s eyes widen, “Yeah, well, uh, she disappeared.”
“Disappeared like died?”
“Disappeared like into thin air. Some people thought she died. Others thought she just quit but there’s been talk...” “Of?” you ask, fiddling with the rose quartz ring dangling from the silver chain around your neck. It was a gift from Woozi for your birthday that you never take off for anything. You reach for it whenever you need comfort and it's never failed you even once. “A comeback at tonight's race. That something happened to bring her back and now the Headless Horseman will ride again.”
The way that he tells it, this really is starting to feel like a horror story. Especially for you. The only one here with something to hide. “I was thinking of going to check the race out and I thought...” “No” you and Woozi groan in unison. “No?” “No” Woozi repeats, “I’m not going with you to an illegal street race to chase an urban legend. What if it gets raided? My baby’s too pretty for jail.” You can’t help but blush, kissing him on the cheek, “No, you’re too pretty for jail.” Woozi starts to blush too and the overload of cuteness makes Hoshi want to vomit.
“You guys never wanna do anything fun” he pouts, “It’s one race.” Getting up from the couch, you stretch your limbs, letting out a yawn. “The threat of jail time aside, I’m exhausted so I’m heading to bed. Why don’t you boys go find something safe to do?” You glance back and forth between the two of them, making it clear that your question had, in fact, been an order. “Yes, ma’am” Hoshi mumbles, forcing a smile when you pinch his cheeks.
You lean in to give Woozi a goodnight kiss and his arms are around you again, nearly dragging you back down onto the couch. He’d come crawl into bed with you if he could but he’d feel bad leaving his best friend hanging and you’d never ask him to do that. “Goodnight, my love” you sing, skipping off to the bedroom. “Goodnight!” Woozi shouts down the hall, his eyes lingering where you once were. Hoshi takes your spot on the couch, batting his eyelashes at Woozi, “Goodnight, my love.”
Tumblr media
A part of you, every part of you if you're being honest with yourself, feels bad for keeping this from your boyfriend. He’s your best friend. Your partner in crime. You share everything. Everything but this. There was once a time when racing was the only way that you could feel alive. When you weren’t behind the wheel, burning down the winding roads the local cops were too corrupt to monitor, life felt empty. If the only thrill you could get had to come from risking your life you were willing to do it but falling for Woozi changed all of that.
With him, you felt genuine love for the first time. He made colors brighter, melodies sweeter, and food more flavorful. You finally had something that made you love your life without putting it on the line so you quit and never looked back. At least not until an old friend came asking you for a favor. Keeping your identity a secret was no small feat. Your success relied heavily upon the few women you'd grown close to on the scene.
One in particular, a fellow racer, was as sweet as could be but had a gambling streak that got her into trouble more often than not. Her most recent run-in was with a new racer. One just as good as you were. Some might say better. She put her car up against his and lost it. A man with an ego impossible to satisfy, he would’ve happily raced her again just to see her suffer. There was no way she’d beat him though, she knew that, but you could. You could’ve turned her down. Maybe you should’ve but it's too late for second thoughts now.
Your opponent’s heavily modified muscle car screeches to a halt beside yours at the starting line. He winks at you, blowing a kiss, “I’ve heard a lot about you sweet thing. You’ve got quite the reputation. Too bad I’m gonna have to ruin it.” The roar of the crowd, hundreds of people gathered around for the return of a legend, drowns out whatever he says next. “Hey!” your friend shouts, tapping the hood of your car. When you turn to her she jiggles your seatbelt, and checks that your helmet’s secure, “Kick his ass.”
The flag girl dips between the cars, taking her position just beyond the starting line. You grasp the ring around your neck for good luck before taking one last look at the smug face of your opponent. Kick his ass? Not a problem.
Tumblr media
Pushing his way to the back of the crowd, Woozi holds his phone to his head and listens as it rings once, twice, three times. Hoshi sneaks up on him, snatching the phone away. “What are you doing?” Hoshi asks, ending the call and holding the phone up out of Woozi’s reach. He’s tempted to try to grab it but, with this height difference, it’d be a waste of energy. “I told her we were going to Mingyu’s place. I have to let her know there was a change of plans.” “Oh my god, you’re so whipped.” “At least I’m not single” Woozi snaps, “Now give me my phone!”
The tearing of rubber against pavement sends clouds of smoke into the night sky, drawing the immediate attention of everyone around them. “Look, she won’t care that you came with me. She’s not like that but she’ll kill you if you wake her up. So just relax and have fun” Hoshi begs, “I’ll tell her it was all my fault. I promise.” As much as Woozi hates to admit it, Hoshi’s made several valid points, the most important of all that you’d rip his head off if he woke you up. “Fine. Whatever.”
“Yes!” Hoshi yells, dragging him back to the front of the crowd just in time to see the cars disappear down the road. At first, Woozi struggles to get comfortable. Hanging out at the edge of an abandoned highway after midnight wasn’t on his 2023 bucket list for fun things to do. As time goes on though, he finds himself having fun, knocking back drinks, and meeting some of Hoshi’s other friends. The adrenaline that pumps through the drivers during lap after lap bleeds into the audience, into him, and he understands now why Hoshi gets so pumped to come to these things.
As the end of the final lap approaches one car closes in on the other. It’s so close, we’re talking splitting hairs close, and then it’s not at all. The Headless Horseman picks up an unreal amount of speed, flying past the other car and ripping through the finish line. A celebration erupts amongst the masses who bet in favor of the Horseman while the few who didn’t prepare for financial ruin. It doesn’t matter to you either way. You’re so high off the thrill of being behind the wheel again that everything around you exists only as a blur of color.
As you make your way out of the car, smiling faces come to congratulate you. Shaking your hand. Hugging you. Patting you on the back. You rush them along, desperate to find yourself an isolated corner where you can get this helmet off before you suffocate. “Horseman!” Hoshi cheers, cutting in front of you before you have time to escape. It can’t be. You must be hallucinating. It really is too hot under this helmet. “So nice to meet you. You were amazing! This is my friend---” he rambles, pulling Woozi over by the collar, “It’s his first time.”
In the old days, the mafia used to put cement blocks on dead bodies before they threw them in the ocean to make sure they didn’t resurface before they became fish food. The sight of your boyfriend standing in front of you makes you want to run but the invisible cement bricks hardened around your ankles won’t let you. You’re fish food. “Hi” Woozi waves, his cheeks rosy from one too many drinks, “You did really well out there.” “I, uh, thanks,” you say in a high-pitched voice, attempting to conceal your own.
Like magic, the weight lifts from your ankles and you start to make a run for it only you aren’t moving. Something else is holding you back, a hand around your wrist. Woozi’s hand.  “Where’d you get that?” he asks, eyeing the ring dangling from your neck. You pull away again. It’s no use. He won’t let up. Hoshi takes a closer look at you, the gears turning until it clicks, “No way. I can't believe it. This is just like in those spy movies. Are you a spy? Wait, don't tell me! No, tell me!”
Ignoring his best friend's enthusiasm, Woozi digs his phone out of Hoshi’s pocket and dials your number. There’s nothing you can do besides stand by as the ringtone you personalized for him sounds in your jacket pocket. The tightness in your chest is unbearable. This is how you die. You pop your helmet off, tossing it to the ground. Woozi pours his drink out beside it, his brain too scrambled to add another sip of vodka into the mix, “I’m too drunk for this.”
Tumblr media
Waking up the next morning you find the bed empty and your house quiet enough to hear a pin drop. You’d come home separately last night. You in your car and Woozi in Hoshi’s. Actually, when you stop to think about it, you aren’t sure Woozi came home at all. From the looks of things, he hasn’t. His keys aren’t on the nightstand and his shoes aren’t by the front door. The usual scent of him cooking Saturday morning breakfast doesn’t fill the apartment and…
“Aah!” you scream, tripping and falling onto something soft. Well, someone. The body of your severely hungover boyfriend is stretched out on the kitchen floor, keys in hand and shoes still on his feet. Carefully rolling off of him, you make no attempt at getting up from the floor. You just lay there, staring at the ceiling, feeling as vulnerable as you ever have. “Where am I?” he mumbles, wiping the drool from his cheek. He lifts his head up, squinting to look around the kitchen before lying back down.
“You okay? You need anything?” you ask, knowing how tough hangovers are on him. “From you or the Horseman?” “Really? Is that how we’re handling this?” “Last I checked I wasn’t the one living a double life.” You can’t even argue with him. He’s right. If you found out he’d hidden something from you, no matter how small, you’d be irritated too. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Sitting up, you bury your face in your hands, letting a symphony of frustration spill out. “It’s a part of me I wanted to bury. I only dug it up to help a friend” you admit, “I was afraid if you knew it might change how you see me.”
Woozi sits up, releasing a few pained groans of his own, “Change how I see you? Nothing could ever change how I see you. I need you to trust me enough to believe that.” “I do. I just…I get in my own head sometimes and I don’t know. I’m so sorry.” Woozi kisses you, the lingering sweetness of some late-night snack he must’ve eaten coating your lips. “It’s okay. Apology accepted…under one condition.” You perk up, prepared to do whatever it takes to make things right, “Whatever you want. Just say the word.”
Leaning back against the refrigerator, he makes space for you to sit between his legs, “Tell me everything from the start.” “Everything?” you ask, sliding over to him, “Well, it all started when…” You lay your head on his chest, gearing up to spill every detail of your origin story, only to be met with the sound of light snoring. You contemplate waking him up but decide he’s in need of some rest and, with Hoshi no doubt on his way to make you tell this same story all over again, you let yourself drift off with him, figuring you do too if you plan to survive that.

Epic: The Musical and Linked Universe
So I’m sure someone else noticed this already but Epic: The Musical gives off Linked Universe vibes. So I’m honor of the Circe Saga releasing next week, I thought I’d put in my 2 cents about what songs I associate with each Link (+some non-canon LU Links). There’s a bit of another LU-Links-reunite AU building up in my head but there’s no real direction yet so have this brain vomit instead:
- The Horse and The Infant - Warriors. So this goes into my headcanon that Warriors is the hero of 10,000 years ago. No I have no foundation for that theory. It just IS. Anyways he’s fighting the Yiga with an army of Gerudo and Hylians. He has to kill the Yiga leader’s son, who’s the new incarnation of Ganondorf. The kid is an infant. I don’t think I need to explain more but yeah.
- Just A Man - Hyrule. This song is the ultimate Hyrule song for me. It explains his character in my Relinked AU too. It’s just… it’s Hyrule’s song. As for the story based off of Epic: The Musical itself, I think he’s running from some sort of war in his Hyrule (either a civil war or a war with Calatia). The details aren’t that clear yet, other than he kills someone and feels bad about it.
- Full Speed Ahead - Wind. Need I say more?
- Warrior of the Mind - our first non-canon Link: First! I Imagine First and Hylia kicking ass together during this song
- Polyphemus - Okay, we’re getting into true AU territory with this one, but this is Twilight’s song. He’s trying to piece together the Mirror of Twilight again and accidentally angers a Hinox or other large monster. With him is Dusk, Rusl (or maybe Colin), and Dusk is stabbed at the end. That’s all I’ve got for this one.
- Survive - Time. And this one has a Story. Ganondorf attacks Time’s castle town with an army of Gerudo and monsters. Time and the Sages fight him off but at the last second he breaks free and slaughters everyone, including Time. However, just as the song ends (the point where Polyphemus falls asleep), Zelda rewinds time and sacrifices herself to seal Ganondorf into the Mirror of Twilight. This is the moment the Downfall Timeline is created too.
- Remember Me - Our second non-canon Link, Shadow! He, Four, Dot, and others are fighting this monster. The Four Sword shatters, Shadow takes charge but in the end wants to do the noble thing. Oh and he gives his name as “Link” and not Shadow (or Shade, as Four’s beginning to call him in my headcanon)
- My Goodbye - Legend and Fable have a falling out. Legend’s sick of feeling used because he’s the hero, so he decides he’s had enough.
- Storm - Our third non-canon Link, Age! Basically a Tears of the Kingdom scenario except Age and his Zelda (Fauna) never went down below the castle. He never loses his arm and Fauna never goes to the past, but they have to evacuate Hyrule to the sky with the help of the Light Dragon who clears the way.
- Luck Runs Out - Sky and Groose. Idk what went down in Sky’s Hyrule but they’re having a disagreement about how Sky’s handling it.
- Keep Your Friends Close - Our last non-canon Link, Spirit! This one also has some story behind it to make the song fit. Idk why, but he and his Zelda (Phantom) have gone to speak to their Wind God, Zephos (the same from Wind Waker) who gives them a challenge. They fail and Spirit gets separated from the group. I imagine it might have something to do with Ganondorf who’s still stuck under the receding Great Sea.
- Ruthlessness - This absolute bop goes to Four. It’s also a follow-up to Remember Me, so that means the monster Shadow refused to kill is Special. Related in some way to Fierce Deity special. So the story here is after the encounter with the monster, Four, Shadow, and others (I’m debating giving Vaati a redemption arc?) decide to try to get help from the god Fierce Deity. Except Deity is pissed because he thinks Four is a weakling when it was actually Shadow who took the blame for what happened to the monster. Fierce slaughters all of Four and Shadow’s men, Four seals himself into the Four Sword to distract/hurt Fierce, and Shadow escapes but feels really guilty.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll add the Circe Saga when it comes out.

The Angel of Hell's Kitchen
Tumblr media
Summary: The office assistant for Nelson, Murdock & Page worries when her secret passion is discovered by her coworkers, but the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen shows her how much she’s loved for who she is.
Pairing: Matt Murdock X Reader, Franklin ‘Foggy’ Nelson X Marci Stahl
Word Count: 3.7k
Warnings/Disclaimers: None
A/N: I’m excited to share this one-shot with you because it’s my first time writing for Matt Murdock! Thank you so much for reading, I hope you all enjoy!
The Angel of Hell’s Kitchen (Fanfiction Masterlist)
“Past due…past due…ah, a first notice!” Foggy glanced up from the stack of letters in his hands and grinned. “It’s always nice to have some variety, isn’t it?”
“Things’ll start looking up for us soon, Foggy,” (Y/N) promised, her happy mood unaffected by her friend and employer’s typical over-worrying; as the one and only office assistant of Nelson, Murdock & Page, she was allowed to indulge in her personal love of organizing and that morning, she was hard at work manually in-putting their next three weeks of appointments, consultations and court dates into their online calendar. “‘Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin-’”
“‘And I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.’” (Y/N) looked up in surprise as Matt finished quoting the Bible verse, his brows rising in surprise over the rims of his red-tinted glasses. “Matthew 6:28. I never knew you were Catholic, Miss (Y/L/N).”
She chuckled. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, Counselor Murdock, but I’m just a simple theatre nerd. It’s a verse used in the play Lilies of the Field, based off that 1960’s film starring Sidney Poitier. I played one of the nuns back when I was a sophomore in college; the habit was pretty uncomfortable to wear and my German accent was atrocious, but it was still a fun experience.”
“A fellow thespian!” Foggy exclaimed and Matt grinned widely. “I’m a theatre camp alumnus myself, and my performance in Pirates of Penzance is the stuff of legend. But this stays between us, okay? I don’t need it getting around Hell’s Kitchen that Counselor Nelson’s a reformed song and dance man.”
“Well, your secret’s safe with us, Jazz Hands.” Matt removed his fingers from his refreshable braille display and did a decent impression of the dance move, making (Y/N) burst into giggles and his own smirk to widen at the sound. “Is performing onstage something you only did in college?”
“Yeah, I mostly did it during school but I still dabble in it from time to time; a lot of people I went to college with are up-and-coming directors and when they stage productions for potential investors or theatre owners, they give me a call to see if I’ll do them a favor and perform. They get a reliable cast member that knows how to follow stage directions, and I occasionally get to do something that I really enjoy.”
The lawyer shrugged a shoulder. “Sounds like a win-win to me.” It didn’t escape her notice that Matt’s attention was entirely focused on her while she talked and judging by the look on his face, he was truly interested in what she had to say; her face warmed and for a brief moment, she thought that he caught her involuntary reaction before inwardly rolling her eyes at her paranoia. “Have you performed in any shows recently?”
(Y/N) nodded and across the long wooden table, Foggy helpfully called out, “She just nodded, buddy.”
“O-Oh, my God, Matt, I’m so sorry, I just-” She stopped herself when she spotted Matt’s amused grin. “You really get a kick out of people making complete asses of themselves around you, don’t you, Counselor Murdock?”
“I think I’ll plead the fifth on that one, Miss (Y/L/N).” They both chuckled and (Y/N)’s heartbeat quickened when he reached over to rest his hand on hers. “Seriously, though, no harm done.”
Smiling to herself, she twisted her hand around to give his a gentle squeeze, distracted for a moment by his handsome features before recalling what they’d been discussing. “I’m, um, I’m actually in rehearsals for a show right now. One of my old classmates is staging a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at an old theatre on West 42nd, set to her own original songs inspired by 90’s Punk-Pop; it’s a pretty different take on the classic play, that’s for sure, but it’s been a really fun time so far.”
“I’m glad that you’ve been enjoying yourself.” Matt withdrew his hand from hers to gesture in Foggy’s vague direction. “You’ll have to tell us when it opens so we can come and support you and your friend.”
(Y/N)’s heart dropped in her chest. “Oh, it’s not really that big of a deal-”
“Of course it is! Our wickedly-talented office assistant is starring in a production that might end up on Broadway someday,” Foggy insisted with a grin. “If we see it now, we’ll actually be able to afford the tickets without selling off a kidney first!”
“As usual, Foggy makes an excellent point.” A smiling Matt chimed in. “Personally, I look forward to hearing you sing; you have such a pleasant speaking voice, so I’m sure that you’re a naturally-gifted singer as well.”
Despite her discomfort, (Y/N) felt herself flush at the lawyer’s sweet compliment but she was careful not to let him distract her. “Really, guys, it’s nothing serious; it’s only three performances, the theatre’s got a bad draft and there may or may not be rats living in the walls. Besides, I’m the one who’s in charge of your calendar and the three of you are practically booked up to your eyeballs next month.” She abruptly stood and crossed the room to grab her coat and scarf, a forced smile on her face as she quickly donned the garments. “I’ve gotta go mail some letters and pick up the Bulletin, so I'll see you guys later!”
She hurried out of the back room of Nelson’s Meats before either of them could reply and didn’t release the breath she’d purposefully been holding until she made it outside the shop. It wasn’t that she didn’t want her friends and colleagues to know about her passion for theatre, but she preferred to avoid their inevitable disinterest and the unavoidable heartbreak she’d suffer as a result. Not that I’m not already used to this particular brand of heartbreak, she thought with a small sniffle, blinking away the prickle of tears in her eyes before starting down the bustling sidewalk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door closed behind (Y/N) and across the table, Matt heard Foggy sigh and toss the mail he’d been sorting through onto the tabletop. “She was lying just now, wasn’t she?”
Matt bit his lip and nodded. “Yeah, she was. She didn’t look embarrassed, did she?”
“No, no, but she almost looked panicked at the thought of us going to see her perform.” The chair legs slid across the wood floor as Foggy stood up and began to pace beside the table. “And towards the end there, right when she was putting on her coat and scarf, it looked like she was about to-”
“Cry,” Matt finished for his best friend, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. “Yeah, I heard her sniffle and smelled the tears right when she stepped outside the shop.”
“Show-off. It’s like she wants us to see her perform but at the same time, she doesn’t. Weird, huh?”
While they both pondered the strange behavior of their friend and office assistant, Matt couldn’t help but think back to her enchanting laughter and the way her heartbeat elevated when he rested his hand on hers; her skin was soft beneath his fingertips and for one blissful moment, he could imagine moving his hand to cup her cheek and leaning forward to capture her lips in a slow and passionate kiss. His crush on their firm’s sweet office assistant had only grown in the six months she’d been with them, but he held himself back from fully indulging in them out of fear of overstepping his boundaries; he was technically one of her bosses and after the near-disastrous relationship breakdown between him and Karen, he was more than a little wary of entering into yet another office romance. But thanks to his heightened senses, he was starting to suspect that she had some feelings of her own that she was doing her best to bury for the sake of their workplace environment.
Matt had slipped his earbud back in and resumed going over court documents on his braille display when their law firm’s third partner walked into the backroom of Nelson’s Meats, balancing a to-go beverage tray in one hand and a stack of manila envelopes in the crook of her arm. “I motion that Foggy handles the drink orders from here on out.”
Matt chuckled. “I second the motion.”
“Hey, we all voted on a rotational schedule fair and square,” Foggy defended as he stood and took the drinks from Karen’s hands. “It’s not my fault that drink orders coincided with your case researching, Miss Page.”
“And yet, it somehow still feels like it is, Counselor Nelson.” Karen set her armful of full envelopes onto one of the empty chairs and practically collapsed onto another, sighing in relief when she slipped off her high-heels and took a long drink of her coffee. “Did either of you boys happen to upset (Y/N) today? I bumped into her on the way here and she looked a little bummed out, but I couldn’t figure out why.”
“We noticed that, too. One minute we were talking and having a good time, and the next she was practically sprinting to get out of here. She was telling us about the show she was set to star in for an old friend, but she started to panic when we mentioned coming to see her perform,” Matt explained, pausing his text-to-speech software and angling his head to the side as an idea came to mind. “Karen, could you do me a favor? Can you do a little digging and find out which theatre on West 42nd is putting on a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream next month?”
“There’s no need; I already know which theatre you’re talking about. It’s Pearl Theatre, 555 West 42nd Street, and the show’s scheduled to run from April 8th to the 11th.” Foggy whistled low and Matt’s brow shot up in surprise. “There’s a flyer posted at the coffee shop, and I always take a look at the bulletin while I wait for our order.”
Matt could sense Foggy holding in his laughter as he replied, “See, isn’t it a good thing you’re the one who goes and gets the coffee the most?” Ignoring the middle finger that their partner threw up at him, Foggy stretched his arm out and nudged Matt’s hand with the edge of one of his case files. “I can tell that something’s going on inside that ridiculously good-looking head of yours, so spill.”
“Well, I was thinking it’s about time that Nelson, Murdock & Page take their first corporate outing in honor of their hard-working office assistant,” He replied with a growing smile. “Who’s in?”
He could hear Karen tap her coffee against his in a subtle toast before taking a sip. “Why the hell not? I’ll work on getting us tickets when they go on sale.”
“I’ll get Marci to help me pick out a nice congratulatory bottle of wine-”
“And I’ll be in charge of getting her a bouquet of flowers.” Matt leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. “And remember, not a word of this to (Y/N), okay?” His business partners assured him that they’d keep quiet and as the three of them began planning their surprise, he hoped that his suspicions about the root of their lovely office assistant’s conflicted feelings would be forgotten the moment she spotted them in the audience.
“Curtains up in five, people!”
“Thank you, five!”
The green room bustled with anxious energy as performers frantically finished getting ready and nervous techies checked that each person’s mic was properly secured. (Y/N) watched the chaos unfolding from her stool in the corner, sipping her lemon and honey tea and smiling to herself as she was reminded of her first few years of performing; she’d always been an anxious mess on an opening night but now that she was older, she was able to do a much better job of hiding it beneath a façade of confidence.
“Like chickens with their heads cut off, huh?”
(Y/N) chuckled as Marcus, the man acting opposite of her Titania as the Fairy King Oberyn, leaned a shoulder on the wall next to her. “I heard that some of their acting professors are in the audience and they can be quite the ball-busters when it comes to adapting Shakespeare.”
“Poor kids. Must be why I just caught one Googling a Wiccan good-luck spell in the bathroom, but I didn’t have the heart to tell him that it was a Power of Three spell from Charmed.” After another reminder of the impending start of the show, Marcus took a moment to adjust his suspender while she tossed out her to-go cup and slipped her high heels on. “I’m surprised you’re not as jittery as the rest of our cast tonight, seeing as your friends are in the audience.”
Her head instantly shot up and her eyes widened in shock. “What?”
“Yeah, there’s four of ‘em; two men and two women, and one of the men is blind. They were the first ones seated when the house opened, and one of the women’s been describing the stage and sets to the blind guy. The front-of-house manager heard ‘em mention your name while she helped seat them.”
Marcus was soon called away for a last-minute mic-pack battery check and (Y/N) was left speechless by his surprising news; how the hell did they even find out about all this, she asked herself with a mixture of awe and wariness, a little unsure of how to handle the unexpected turn of events. A spur-of-the-moment decision led her to climbing the steep staircase up to the theatre’s proscenium lighting crawlspace, and she peered through the wire-covered opening at the audience down below. Sure enough, Matt, Karen, Foggy and his fiancée Marci were seated in the center row; the happy couple were excitedly perusing the show’s program together while Karen talked to Matt, and (Y/N)’s heart thudded in her chest when she spotted the beautiful bouquet of wildflowers resting on his lap. As she watched, Matt angled his head upwards and his lips curved into a smile, the action nearly making her wonder if he somehow knew that she was there, but she quickly brushed the impossible thought away.
Although a part of (Y/N) still couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing, tears began to prickle in her eyes. She couldn’t remember the last time anyone had come to see her perform or shown any interest whatsoever in her passion for theatre and as she carefully made her way back down the steep staircase, she vowed that she’d give her friends and her secret crush the performance of a lifetime.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Okay, ‘kay, one last toast before we head home so I can hurl all this up before passing out!” The group winced and groaned in disgust at Foggy’s bluntness but raised their bottles and glasses as he addressed (Y/N). “Thanks to you, I was able to witness the epically-unholy union of Shakespeare and 90’s Punk-Pop, and now my life is complete.” Marci loudly cleared her throat and they all snickered as Foggy quickly corrected himself for his amused fiancée’s sake. “Almost, it’s almost complete. Anyways, you were fantastic and while I don’t always understand theatre in my older age, I sure as hell respect the people who do. To (Y/N), our amazing office assistant and an even cooler thespian!”
“To (Y/N)!” They loudly tapped and clinked their drinks against one another before downing the last of their alcohol. After the show, they’d all gone to meet (Y/N) at the stage door and after gifting her a bouquet of flowers and a nice bottle of wine, they invited her to join them at Josie’s for a nightcap; one drink turned into many, many more, with their group even clearing out the celebratory bottle of wine, and they’d only decided to call it a night when (Y/N) reminded them that she had another night’s performance and a Sunday matinee to rest up for.
Matt could sense the blood rushing to (Y/N)’s cheeks and grinned when she ducked her head in embarrassment. “All I can say is thank you. I’ve never had…well, I’m not used to performing for friends, so I really can’t thank you guys enough for finding a way to be there tonight.” Matt detected the slight catch in her voice before the others applauded her, and a part of him knew that there was something more significant behind it than gratitude, but he decided that he’d wait until they were alone to ask her about it.
When their drinks were finally gone and even Josie’s patience with them was starting to wear thin, they all stumbled out of the bar and headed home; Karen decided to share a cab with Foggy and Marci while Matt offered to walk (Y/N) home. He opted to hold the hand she generously offered him instead of unfolding his white cane, smiling to himself as they swung their joined hands back and forth while they slowly walked down the deserted sidewalks and desperately trying to hide the smitten blush that threatened to appear on his inebriated face.
“While you were in the bathroom, Karen mentioned that you were the one in charge of getting the flowers.”
“Yep,” Matt replied, popping the ‘p’ at the end of the word and chuckling at her giggle. “Picked ‘em out all by myself; the florist tried talking me into buying roses, but these ones smelled much nicer to me.”
(Y/N) brought the bouquet up to her nose and inhaled their scent. “You made a good call, Counselor Murdock. I’ve always preferred the scent of flowers over the look of ‘em, and I’ve always thought that roses are far too cliché.”
“Well, I’m glad that you approve of my decision, Miss (Y/L/N).” He could sense the blood rushing to her face and hear the stutter of her heartbeat, and it took every ounce of his self-control not to stop walking and lean in for a kiss. “Do you mind if I ask you a question?”
“You just did, but I suppose I’ll be okay with another one.”
Shaking his head at her silly answer, Matt bumped his shoulder against hers and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “Why were you so dead-set against us seeing you perform? You’re an amazing actor and an even better singer, so I don’t really get why you wouldn’t want any of us coming to see you do something you so obviously love.”
“Oh. Well, um…” (Y/N) swallowed thickly while Matt patiently waited for her to answer. “I’ve performed almost all my life, and certainly for as long as I can remember. But the older I got, the less my friends and family seemed interested in supporting my hobby; coming to see me perform was more of a chore to them than an honor. The first time I got to play a lead in high school, I saw my dad asleep in his seat and my friends texting in the back of the auditorium. My junior year boyfriend missed my first Shakespearian monologue because he snuck out to go watch our school’s basketball game. Everyone I invited to my last high school musical made excuses for why they couldn’t come to any of the performances, and I missed our entire cast party because I was crying my eyes out in a Denny’s bathroom. Performing all throughout college was the highlight of my life, but I didn’t have anyone to share it with because by that point, I knew that asking anyone to come would only lead to unnecessary heartache. So when I saw you guys sitting smack-dab in the middle of the audience, I-I just…I couldn’t believe that you not only remembered a conversation from over a month ago, but you all took time out of your busy schedules just to come tonight.” Her hand tightened around his and her voice waivered as she added, “No one’s ever been that considerate to me.”
Matt’s heart nearly shattered at the hurt he could detect in her words and without a second thought, he stopped walking and let go of her hand to gently cradle her face between his own. “(Y/N), you deserve to have people around you who care about your interests. They’re a reflection of who you are, after all. All those people – your friends, your family, even that asshole boyfriend – they should be kicking themselves in the asses right now; they let an angel slip right through their fingers because they were too self-absorbed to appreciate her the way she deserved to be appreciated.”
“Do you…? You really mean that, don’t you?”
With a small smile, Matt reached down for her free hand and held it flat against his chest, directly over his heart. “I’m a good Catholic boy, remember? When we call people angels, we tend to mean it.” She exhaled a quiet laugh, and his thumb caressed the warm apple of her cheek as he sensed she had something she wanted to say. “What is it, angel?”
(Y/N)’s heart hammered away in her chest at his use of the pet name and after a long pause, she softly asked, “Do good Catholic boys generally give angels a celebratory kiss at the end of one of the happiest nights of their life?”
Matt nervously wet his lips in anticipation. “Only when angels ask them nicely.”
“Please, Matt…will you kiss me?”
He slowly leaned in – taking a moment to appreciate the sound of her quickening heartbeat, the feel of her warmth beneath his palm and the floral scent that engulfed his senses – and with gentle restraint, he finally brushed his lips against hers in the sweetest of kisses. It started out soft and undemanding, with the both of them attempting to respect the other’s boundaries, but it quickly devolved into a heated embrace when (Y/N)’s fingers curled around his tie and tugged him closer. He let out a deep groan at the sensation and she smiled against his lips as he wrapped an arm around her waist to hold her against him.
While the Devil and the Angel of Hell’s Kitchen kissed on a deserted sidewalk in the middle of the city they both cherished, a familiar Shakespearian line would come to mind…
“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, and therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind…”

Pairing: Steve Harrington x FemReader!PlusSize

Summary: Beth Walker was used to living in the shadows. She had only one friend and anyone else who paid her mind usually bullied her for her size. So she learned to keep her mouth shut, her head down, and her heart closed because she had to accept the fact that she would be nothing more than the fat girl to people. That is until Robin decides Beth needs more in life and that might just include a boy who she never would’ve thought could see her for who she truly was.

Steve Harrington didn’t attend parties since high school. After losing King Steve status and Nancy stomping on his heart at Tina’s Halloween Bash he saw no reason to go. That didn’t mean he wasn’t still invited. Kids still in high school remembered the legend of Steve Harrington and that never stopped them from trying to get him to attend one of their parties. He saw no point now that he spent time with the kids and wasn’t in high school, but now a high school party would be the perfect place to prove to those douche bags that Beth Walker was a cool chick.
So after finding a perfect outfit to wear, digging up his old cologne, fixing his hair to perfection, and finally getting it across to Dustin that he couldn't go, he realized he was actually a little nervous. The same way he was nervous before any dates he went on. He tried to remind himself this wasn't a date, this was for Robin, but his heart didn't listen, it still thumped rapidly against his chest, and his palms continued to sweat. Realizing he didn't have any flowers or any clue what to say he felt like a cheap date, unworthy of Beth who clearly deserved so much.
"Dustin I need your help" he finally uttered, the panic starting to set in.
"I only help people that bring me to parties with them" Dustin shot back, clearly having the response locked and loaded since he wanted to go.
"You're not coming to the party" Steve reiterated as he rolled his eyes and Dustin crossed his arms.
"Why? Because it’s a date?" he accused and Steve groaned, his head falling back on the couch.
"It's not a date" Steve bargained and Dustin set down his walkie that he was messing with after a new battery change.
"Okay, then I can come" he said and Steve shot him a glare.
"You're not coming Dustin" he told him, a sharp edge to his voice.
"Why not?!" the boy whined, annoyed that his best friend wasn't going to take him to the first party he had gone to since they had become friends.
"Because you're a kid!" Steve countered and Dustin rolled his eyes so hard Steve was sure they'd get stuck.
"I’m in highschool" he told Steve as if to remind him that being in High School now somehow made him grown.
"Yeah for like two seconds, talk to me in a year" Steve said and Dustin finally had no argument because he was right, the year had just barely started, only a month into his freshman year.
"Fine but when the guys ask why I didn’t go with I'm saying it’s because your taking Beth on a date" Dustin told him, having already bragged to Mike, Lucas, and Will over the phone about how he would be the first to go to a highschool party. He was wrong.
"It’s not a date Dustin" Steve urged and Dustin shook his head.
"Why not? You're always asking girls on dates and Beth is like Phoebe Cates" Dustin told him and Steve furrowed his eyebrows.
"You said that about Suzie too" Steve said and Dustin shrugged.
"Yeah, that proves my point" and for the first time Steve realized that for Dustin a girl wasn't amounted by just her looks, Beth was just as attractive as Phoebe Cates to him because her personality was beautiful. He didn't notice anything else because as long as she was a good person she was beautiful.
“What do I even talk to her about?” Steve finally voiced his worries, the advice he was looking for before Dustin dug into him about not going to the party.
“Anything Steve, everything. She’s super smart and likes movies. I don’t think you have anything to worry about” Dustin told him, a little shocked Steve was looking for advice about a girl when it was normally the other way around.
“Just because I work at Family Video doesn’t mean I watch movies” Steve sighed, a hand tugging on his hair that he had perfected for tonight.
“You’ll figure it out, you’re King Steve. At least you’re actually dating a girl worth dating this time” Steve chuckled and stood to leave, it nearing the time to pick her up.
“It’s not a date” he told Dustin one last time before leaving, the nerves still prickling through his skin but he quickly reminded himself he was going on a date with a girl better then the rest of them. He wanted to make sure she knew that.
As for Beth she was absolutely, positively, freaking out from the moment she woke up. She wished she could curl up in a hole and die. If there was a way to make the entire day pass without her having any knowledge of it she would, because how in the hell did Beth, big Beth, land a date with Steve the hair Harrington. Actually it wasn’t a date at all, yet it still felt exactly like one. So since she couldn’t magically make the day pass she called Robin the minute she woke up, clearly waking the girl herself.
“I am freaking out Robin, this is all your fault. I can’t decide if I’m going to cry, throw up, or pass out. I am not pretty enough to spend time with him alone. I don’t even know how to do make up, what about my hair, what the hell do I even wear Robin?”
“Give me an hour”
And without another word Robin hung up the phone and forged a new plan to help her dear friend because she so clearly deserved the entire world. At first her plan was to just help her friends self image but Steve was her friend too. He had been heart broken, afraid to love, and struggling to find the right girl. If this whole arrangement could work in both her friends favors she’d be happier then can be, and prove to them she’s a genius after all. So that’s how a knock sounded at Beth’s door and she rushed to open it revealing her friend and Nancy Wheeler.
“Don’t be mad, I brought back up” Robin explained and Beth gaped like a fish because Nancy Wheeler was Steves infamous ex. The image of a perfect female teenager. Hell Beth had wished she was her since middle school. Nancy was so beautiful, perfectly skinny, and girly. Beth would’ve sold her soul if it guaranteed she could be her. Now here she was standing on her front porch to help her get ready for a night out with her ex boyfriend. She gaped for only a moment before recovering and stepping aside to let them into the home.
The girls all climbed the stairs to Beth’s room, getting right to work. Beth sat at her vanity, anxiously bouncing her leg as Nancy rifled through her closet, Robin unbothered as she thumbed through a magazine on Beth’s bed. Beth hoped Nancy wasn’t silently judging her for the abundance of T-shirts and jeans. They were the clothes that made her feel the most comfortable. Before Beth could let the panic set in even further Robins stomach grumbled loudly.
“Sorry Beth, I didn’t eat anything yet today. Can I raid your kitchen?” Robin asked sheepishly and Beth smiled, heart warming over the fact she didn’t stop to eat in her journey of helping her.
“Yes Rob, help yourself” and she scurried off, happy as a clam to go and find some food. Once Nancy settled on an outfit she turned to Beth with a soft smile.
“I figure we could start with your hair” she spoke carefully and Beth nodded, turning in her seat the face the mirror.
“I hope this isn’t weird for you” Beth quietly spoke after a moment, unsure she had ever been alone with the girl before.
“It’s not, when Robin came to me and explained the situation I was happy to help” Nancy said, her hands meticulously getting to work on Beth’s hair.
“Why is that?” Beth found herself asking, curious as to what situation she was referring to.
“Barb was my best friend. I never saw us as any different but she did. All the time I had to remind her how beautiful and special she was. Even though I always tried my best I still feel like she passed away not knowing how amazing she was. I may not know you very much Beth but you’re beautiful, you deserve to know that” tears burned at the back of Beth’s eyes as Nancy had told her this. Even though Nancy was perfect and popular it was nice to know kindness wasn’t lost upon her.
“I’m sorry you lost Barb, me and Robin might not be as close as you two were but I wouldn’t be able to spend another day without her” Nancy pressed her lips together in a tight smile that Beth watched through the mirror. A comfortable silence fell over both of them for the first time she had been here.
“Do you know that it’s Steve?” Beth suddenly felt a need to confess, unsure if Robin left out that minor detail.
“Yeah, that’s another reason I agreed” this time Beth drew her eyebrows together in confusion.
“It’s not a date, he never said the words date” Beth quickly added and Nancy chuckled.
“Even if it is a date it’s fine Beth. Me and Steve, we’re okay. Just friends, it doesn’t bother me one bit” Nancy informed her, trying to ease the girls nerves.
“Do you mind if I ask what happened?” Beth voiced curiously, wanting some insight to the Harrington boy she was about to end up alone with.
“When me and Steve started dating was around the time Will and Barb went missing. Me and Johnathon bonded over us both losing people. I think subconsciously I stayed with Steve thinking he was who I was supposed to be with while ignoring feelings I had for Johnathon” Beth was confused for a moment, never knowing she had a relationship with Johnathon at all before Steve.
“You and Steve were together for a year though” Beth spoke, wondering how it could go on that long.
“Yeah, I hid from my feelings for a long time. Steve is an amazing guy, like the kindest person on earth. I just couldn’t deny any longer that I didn’t feel for him the way I should have. I broke his heart but he deserves to be happy, so I’m more than content to help a pretty girl doll up for a date with him” Beth blushed at the notion that this was a date. Until she hears Steve say the word it wasn’t that.
“I didn’t know you and Robin were close?” Beth told her and Nancy chuckled.
“We’re not but her and Steve are friends and a friend of Steve’s is a friend of mine. After all he takes care of my little brother and his friends despite everything that happened between us” Beth finally connected the dots that the kids were apart of the same group, clustered in with Nancy.
“Steve is a really good guy now huh?” Beth fiddled with her hands, avoiding eye contact through the mirror so Nancy wouldn’t see her fear. Wouldn’t see that she had a secret history with the boy that she wasn’t sure she was ready to forgive him for.
“He is, much different than the guy he was when we started dating. He matured a lot and got over all that popularity shit. He also stopped hanging out with Tommy and Carol which is a good thing” Beth laughed at this, finally looking up to meet Nancy’s eyes.
“You two having fun yet?” Robin asked as she clambered back into the room with a bag of chips. For the first time Beth smiled and nodded at Robin who went right back to her bed.
After that it was smooth sailing, hair and makeup done to perfection. Nancy had done a good job of picking a nice outfit but still allowing Beth to feel comfortable. She wore a nicer pair of her jeans, tighter than she liked but still cute nonetheless. Nancy also gave her a floral blouse, low cut and fit tightly to her chest but loose around the stomach for comfort. Beth blushed when Nancy made a comment about accentuating what she was blessed with, meaning her bigger chest.
Steve showed up at 7 o’clock on the dot, shaking out his nervous hands and approaching the front door that he didn’t even have a chance to knock on before Robin was swinging it open with a mischievous smirk. “You clean up nice Harrington, is this what it’s like being on the receiving end of an infamous Steve date?”
“It’s not a date” Steve quietly seethed and Robin very visibly rolled her eyes.
“When you see her Harrington I think you’re going to stop saying that” at that comment his heart doubled in speed, realizing now he was very unprepared for a night out with a beautiful girl.
“Beth hurry up! Dingus is here” Steve instantly glared at the girl as she shut the door behind him. He didn’t have a chance to scold his friend when he spotted Beth coming down the stairs, dressed like a beautiful girl who normally went out on Saturday nights. His jaw fell, opening his mouth to say something, and closing it as soon as he realized he didn’t have any of the right words to say.
“You look amazing Beth, wow” Steve finally snapped out of it, unsure he had ever seen the girl wear makeup before. Not that she ever needed it. At his words confidence rushed through her blood and she smiled lightly.
“Thanks, I’ve never been to a party before” Beth admitted and Robin grinned behind her hand, knowing her plan was working.
“We don’t have to stay long, if you don’t feel comfortable” Steve informed her and she nodded softly, grabbing her small purse, one Nancy had let her borrow.
“Thank you, but there’s a first time for everything” Beth told him, gesturing her hand to the door. Steve opened it for her quickly, them both saying goodbye to Robin as they disappeared into the night. Robin rushing back upstairs to Nancy where they planned to wait for Beth, and get all the juicy details of the night.
As Beth got into the front seat of the BMW she realized she was now riding passenger in Steve’s car when not so long ago she was confused as to why Robin was always riding around with him. Then she worried about fitting into the seatbelt before forcing herself to push the thought away, she shouldn’t be focusing on her weight. She should be focusing on the cute guy beside her that she was about to give a chance to redeem himself.
Approaching the party after some comfortable conversation she felt her heart finally begin to pound. A party, full of assholes from her school. It was possible Steve wasn’t a big enough shield from facing their torture outside of school hours. Yet as he opened the car door for her and kept a hand on the small of her back she felt herself comforted a little. Yet she didn’t like how he was touching her back, probably feeling the fat roll there, something she hated. Steve made no notice of it as they pushed through the door.
“Harrington!” was yelled almost instantly, boys from the basketball team rushing over to greet Steve. Once they approached and realized Beth was with him they faltered slightly.
“You finally made it man” Jason Carver was the first to pipe up, pulling Steve into a bro hug.
“Yeah, figured I could make an appearance” Steve said, arm wrapping around Beth’s shoulders.
“This is Beth” he introduced her quickly and a boy towards the back of the crowd whispered Bertha and her ears burned red as they all began to chuckle. “We’re gonna grab a drink”
Then Steve was pulling her away, guilt already burning in his stomach. He led beth to the kitchen, grabbing two beers just to turn and see her already pouring herself a drink of some sort of liquor. “Sorry I don’t do beer”
Then she was dumping the liquid quickly down her throat and Steve watched wide eyed, his eyes traveling down as he watch her throat lift in a swallow, and his eyes continued to fall to her cleavage that he had already spent most of the night trying to look away from. A lot of things surprised Steve when Beth walked down those stairs but the thing that surprised him most was his instant attraction to her. Not that he didnt think she was pretty, he really did, he just never allowed himself to look at another type of girl. He realized now, feeling like a teenage boy all over again stealing glances at her, that he was truly attracted to Beth and he would not mind if she let him kiss her by the end of the night.
"We can leave if you want?” he finally spoke, his eyes holding all the sincerity in the world as she poured herself another drink to sip slower on this time.
"No, you brought me here to have fun so let's have fun" Beth held her ground, yes the comments hurt but Steve was doing a good job of making her comfortable, and she was going to allow them to have a good night together.
"Okay, let’s do it" and that’s exactly what they did. Beth ignored all the stares and whispers as her and Steve continued to have drinks, called next game in pong, and danced in the living room allowing themselves to be normal even if it was for just one night. Beth was shocked to find herself actually having a good time. laughing at Steve's jokes and admiring him in the dim lighting of the home. Steve Harrington was just so pretty and as more drinks flowed into Beth's system she was finding that harder to ignore.
"I'm gonna grab us another drink" Steve yelled over the music and Beth nodded as he moved away from her and she continued to watch classmates of hers do keg stands and laughing each time someone got dropped.
"How much did you pay him?" Beth's eyes widened as Colin Matterson appeared beside her, an evil look in his eyes, and liqour heavy on his breath.
"Not that it's any of your business but nothing, he invited me" Beth grumbled, anger prickling at her skin. Colin was the worst of them all, the meanest to her, and she never knew what it was she did to him to deserve such hatred towards her.
"Yeah right, you couldn't even get a horse to go on a date with you much less the King of Hawkins" Beth's ears burned as she felt anger begin to shake her sturdy structure she had been holdong all night. She realized she had never stood this close to Colin, him towering over her, and the venom dripping from his tongue was alerting her fight or flight.
"You're such an asshole Colin, what did I ever do to you?" Beth’s face was red with anger and embarassment. She was fighting the tears that were bound to come when she reached her pillow tonight.
"I don't need a reason to be an asshole Beth, fat girls like you don't belong in places like this with guys like him" for the first time in Beth's life she was prepared to fight back, hit Colin with all the strength she could muster as she had imagined doing it hundreds of times before. Then before she could a hand was turning him around and a fist flung into his face so hard he toppled to the ground.
"You don't ever talk to girls like that, especially my girl" Steve said, breaths puffing from his chest heavily. Beth felt her heart flip as he referred to her as his girl, towering over the boy he was glad didn’t fight back because it wasn't often he won.
"What the fuck Steve?" Colin asked, looking up from the ground as he held his eye that was sure to be black by tomorrow.
"You know what, I would’ve thought your mother taught you the cororect way to speak to women but apparently not. If I even hear of you looking in Beth's direction you better watch out, learn some manners" then Steve was stepping over top of him and locking his fingers with Beth’s. "Let’s get out of here baby"
Then Steve was tugging Beth out of the party, faces watching with shocked looks as Steve very clearly knocked Colin Matterson on his ass for the big girl who was super shy and invisible until now. Steve walked her the whole way out to the car in the empty street, standing next to his BMW, only illuminated by the street lamp above them. Beth had kept a tough face on the entire night and she had planned to keep it, but before she moved to get into the car Steve's hands were holding each side of her face and making her look at him.
"Are you okay?" he asked and suddenly the dam broke, the clear concern and care in his eyes enough to push her over the edge. Without hesitation Steve wrapped her in a hug, comforting her as best he could as she cried into his chest, never even predicting she'd be holding on to Steve Harrington with dear life in the middle of the street as she cried. Steve held her for as long as she needed, until her tears started to slow and her breaths became more even.
"This is extremely embarassing. I'm sorry" Beth said as she pulled away, wiping her cheeks and nose as quickly as she could. She had probably ruined Nancy's makeup job but it was too late now.
"It's emmebrassing for him, fuck that dude B. You deserve better" the nickname tumbled from his lips so quickly he nearly missed it, but suddenly a smile broke across her face, and he gave a confused look.
"You called me B" she grinned at him and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Sorry, if you don't like it I can stop" but Beth was shaking her head and taking a step closer to him.
"I've never had a nickname that wasn’t mean before, I love it" she told him and he smiled pulling her back into a hug that she didn't expect.
"Let's hang out again, just not at a party. If I see Colin ever again I'll knock his teeth out" Beth laughed lightly against his chest and the feeling sent butterflies to Steve's stomach that he hadn't expected.
"I know our night is kinda ruined but do you want to go somewhere else for a bit?" Steve asked and Beth nodded without really even thinking about it, she had been enjoying Steve more than she had expected. Steve smiled and opened the door to his car and helping her inside before driving off, not really sure where to go just knowing he wanted to spend more time with her. Even if he didn't prove to assholes like Colin Matterson that Beth was great girl he was going to prove to her that she was worth all the love he could give, whether it was as a friend or more, he hadn't quite decided yet.

Rewatching the Legend of ShenLi (与凤行, Yu Feng Xing native title) cuz I can't get over it. (Spoilers below for episode 24)
Xingzhi really went through all 5 stages of grief starting from General Shangbei's report of Shenli's death. Starting from denial to anger to grief (but also, what did our General SB do to you, man, don't shoot the messenger 😭).
Then he went flitting off to the sea like wifey, I'm coming~~~
*superman fly scene*
Then he tried calling out for her like ShenLi, I'm here now, stop hiding, not funny anymore~
*can't hear shit over the waves*
FUCK YOU, I CAN'T HEAR SHIT
*stops the entire fucking sea*
GIB ME BACK MY WIFEY
The first time I watched this episode, I thought he kinda overreacted. Okay, really overreacted.
But during the rewatch, I realized it was compensation for the times he held himself back before, with ShenLi and it included all the regrets he had for the times he didn't go "all in" with his affections for her.
This was the moment we watch him go from hero (who cares for ALL living beings) to villain (fuck everyone else, I only want *her* to be alive and well and happy, preferably with me and our 50 million children).
This was Xingzhi's villain moment, the turning point. So yeah, tiny bit of a delayed reaction 😅
It's a very interesting scene and what differentiates Yu Feng Xing from other xianxias that I've watched.
Every other xianxia has never had the villain moment. The ancient god (usually, the god of war) never gives up the world for the love interest. It usually ends in self-sacrifice to save the world, knowing the love interest will suffer.
Xingzhi, knowing the world will suffer, does not give a flying fuck.
Even Furong (the previously selfish and spoiled grandson of the Heavenly Emperor) reminds him of the East Sea's suffering but XingZhi doesn't care.
Xingzhi really said, I thought the world meant something to me but she was MY world.
There's a lot of grief when he also understands he has his limitations when faced with the vastness of the world and he can't find her.
From Furong's perspective, this matures him as well. He witnesses what love is like for Xingzhi and that, while he admires ShenLi and has a crush on her (in the drama not the novel), it doesn't amount to anything near what Xingzhi feels for her. It makes sense then, that afterwards, he becomes one of their strongest shippers LOL
Furong like I AM GOING TO PROTECC THIS SHIP pffffft (+1 for Youlan lol)
Anyway. Reasons why I can't let go of this drama, like Xingzhi with ShenLi 😭😭😭
Dunno who all is gonna read this but I needed to verbal vomit my thoughts on this beautiful drama. I will remember it for a long time, like KinnPorsche.

R becoming very overwhelmed when they find out their family is secretly a long line of vampire/supernatural hunters around the same time they start openly dating Hope
Hope Mikaelson x GN!reader
Tumblr media
Growing up your parents always told you to stay away from the kids who went to Salvatore prep, you had no idea why but you listened to them up until when you met Hope.
You had bumped into each other at the coffee shop in town and instantly fell for her but as soon as you found out she was a Salvatore student you thought it was better to keep it quiet until things got more serious.
After a few months together you thought it was time to finally tell your parents about your relationship and invited her over to your house for dinner.
Your parents were fully ready to spend the dinner telling embarrassing stories of your childhood as parents do but they recognized Hope the moment she stepped into your home.
Hope had a weird feeling that she had somehow met your parents before but brushed it off as she had just seen them around town.
Dinner was quiet, oddly quiet.
"Dinner is really good mom," you say, trying to break the silence.
"Yeah Mrs. Y/L/N, everything is great," Hope smiles.
"Thank you Hope," your mom nods.
"So Hope, do you go to Mystic Falls high?" Your dad asks, already knowing the answer but not wanting it to be too obvious.
"No, I actually go to Salvatore prep," Hope replies.
"What is it like there?" He questions.
"It's very… eccentric," she chuckles, "a lot of interesting people."
"Do your parents live in the area?" Your mom adds.
"Actually my parents died when I was a kid," Hope responds.
"Sorry to hear that," your mom says with faux sympathy.
Dinner continues on with the awkward small talk and you are so grateful when Hope says that's it late and she should be getting back to school.
You walk Hope to her car and kiss her goodbye, returning inside to your parents who are washing dishes in the kitchen.
"So what did you think of Hope?" You ask them nervously.
"How could you date someone from that school… and Hope Mikaelson of all people," your mom says, putting down the dish she was washing.
"What do you guys have against Salvatore Prep? And do you know Hope or something?" You ask confused.
Your parents look at each other and without needing to say a word nod in agreement.
"Y/N, it's time you know the truth about our family," your father states.
They sit you down in the living room, serious looks on their faces.
"Okay you’re really starting to worry me," you say, no possible idea what they could want to tell you.
"This town has a lot of secrets and Salvatore prep is the home to a lot of them," your mom states.
"What are you talking about?"
"We weren't going to bring you into this until you were 18 but Y/N…Monsters are real, all the stories and legends you heard as a kid it's all real," your dad tells you, "those kids aren't like you, every single of them is supernatural and a lot of them have hurt people."
"Very funny," you laugh.
"This isn't a joke honey, the last few decades Mystic Falls has been a hot spot for supernatural creatures thanks to the Salvatore Brothers and the Mikaelson family," your mom explains, "that's why we moved here when you were five."
"So you're trying to tell me that Hope is what? A vampire? A werewolf" You say in disbelief.
"She's both actually as well as a witch, she's called a tribred and probably the most dangerous of them all."
"And how exactly would you guys even know about any of this?" You question, "and if you do know about this why would you move us here in the first place?"
"Because our family has been hunting monsters for centuries and protecting the innocent from them," your father explains, "when we heard about the Salvatore school opening up for kids like them we came here to keep Mystic Falls safe."
"This is insane, Hope isn't a monster," you say getting up from the couch, "she would never hurt anyone."
"Y/N wait," your father attempts but your mother puts her hand on his arm.
"Let them go, it's a lot to take in, they just need some time," she tells him.
You don't talk to Hope for days, too busy pulling all nighters researching the supernatural world and trying to figure out how true what your parents told you really was.
Eventually Hope gets concerned at the radio silence and goes to Mystic Falls high looking for you.
"Y/N hey," she says approaching you at your car after school.
"Hope what are you doing here?" You say nervously.
"I haven't heard from you since I went to your house for dinner? Did I do something wrong?" She asks, "did your parents not like me?"
"I'm sorry I can't talk right now," you say attempting to get in your car.
"Whatever's going on you can tell me," Hope says, stepping closer to you and going to touch your arm but you pull away.
You look around, making sure no one was close enough to hear you, "... are you a tribred?"
"How do you know what that is?" She says in shock.
"You are, aren't you, god my parents were telling the truth."
"Your parents? How do your parents know about me?"
"Because apparently their fucking monster hunters and expect me to be one too," you say through gritted teeth.
Hope is trying to process this news but now there's way too many other students around.
"Can we please go somewhere and talk," she asks and you agree.
You drive in silence to a secluded spot outside the woods, normally when you and Hope came here to be alone it was for a very different reason.
Hope tells you everything, the story of her parents, how all her friends that you had met weren't totally human and even about the few encounters she had over the years with hunters that you both assume were actually your parents.
"So you're telling me there's a magical pit in Georgia that is a portal to a hell dimension that's basically a jail cell to an evil golem named Malivore that wants to murder you so he can take over the world," you say trying to wrap your mind around it all.
"To sum it up, yes," she nods.
"What the actual fuck," you shout slamming your hands on the steering wheel.
"I'm so sorry, I never should have started seeing you, the last thing I wanted is you to be involved in this," Hope apologizes.
"Hope this isn't your fault, I would have gotten involved eventually. My parents said they weren't planning on telling me until I turned 18 it's just all so overwhelming," you sigh, "I dont believe that you and your friends are bad people and I really don't want to hunt anyone, especially not you I fucking love you."
"You love me?" She says low and you realize what you just said.
"Yeah… I do."
"I love you too," she smiles.
You lean in to kiss her and she puts her hand on your cheek, gently rubbing her thumb across your skin.
"What are we going to do?" You ask, your hand on her waist pulling her as close as you could over the center console.
"I don't know but we have each other and that's all that matters."

Tirelessly Hopeful
Laughter flooded the room, the warm air soothing over tender skin. Warrior watched the group, noticing many things yet not saying anything at all. Time watching over the little ones. Twilight laughing as he slung a little kid ‘round and ‘round. Legend hiding away in a corner, sipping a drink and observing the people. Hyrule stood in between Legend and Wild, munching on something Wild had passed over. Wild themself was talking with Hyrule and Legend, hiding away from the larger amounts of people. Wind was holding a councilwoman’s baby, laughing and tickling the baby gently. Four was talking with one of the dukes, questioning the duke, and at one point laughing. It’s good for us, it’s good for them. They need a break. Where’d Sky go? Warrior moved over lightly, peering to get a better look around the room. It took him moving around so much, plus many people interrupting the motions, easily an hour to find the hero.
What’s he doing all alone? He went and stood beside Sky, resting his forearms on the balcony railing. The night sky was beautiful tonight. A full, well-rounded moon accompanied the stars. “Hey,” Warrior said, nudging Sky’s arm gently. “Hey.” He said back, letting himself lean onto the other elf a bit, head resting. He’s shaking some. Panic attack? Maybe too many people? “You okay?” Warrior asked head tilted back as he enjoyed a light breeze. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Hmm, he’s shaking too much to be fine. We just visited Skyloft. Didn’t Hyrule mention something about asthma? Or was it Four? He hums softly, draping an arm around Sky’s shoulders and holding him gently. Thinking over what could help proved to be difficult, but with the others' help, he’s sure he can find something.
“Don’t have women throwing themselves at you?” Sky teases lightly, but his words come out strained. Airy almost. Warrior frowns, rich blue eyes observing the shorter. Something is not right. Better get Twilight, he may be of more help than I. “As of tonight, no. Most women here are married, though tomorrow’s ball contains women who are not married. Let's go over to Twilight.” Warrior spoke, grabbing Sky’s wrist gently and pulling him along with him. Sky let him, shoulder hitching every now and then. Warrior knew for sure that if it was life-threatening and Twilight could pick up on it then he would let them know. Weaving through the crowd turned out to be even more difficult than he had thought, as he gritted his teeth. Too many people wanted to say hello or to discuss something with him. He tried to be as fast and as nice as possible, but the longer he took, the paler the Skyloftian got.
By the time they had made it to Twilight, Sky looked ready to faint. Fortunately, all it took was arriving within the hero's view, and he was over to them in seconds. “Sky? What’s wrong?” Twilight spoke, his accent soft and gentle, his eyes roving the shorters form. “Nothing’s wrong, just…….” Watching him trail off, Warrior let himself worry heavily. Sky looked tired, severely tired. He was wrong to bring him to the ball, he was wrong to bring any of them. “Just tired.” Sky finished, his eyes showing a fatigue none of them knew. Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? I could go get him some water and maybe some food. Twilight could take him to a secluded area.
Letting the other heroes know where he was going, he set off. Gathering some food was not a problem but getting several cups of water turned out to be a problem. There wasn’t water, but there was fruit juice. Take it as it is. It’s better than getting him an alcoholic beverage, anyway. His feet guided him easily and he settled down beside the two. Sky took the drink with a thankful look, his body hunched. Twilight sat behind him, holding Sky’s back to his chest as he held the other upright. It wasn’t long after eating and drinking that the hero fell asleep. Warrior couldn’t blame him. “Do ya think he’ll feel be’er la’er?” Twilight asked softly, dark blueish-greyish eyes concerned. “I don’t know. Hopefully, some sleep will help, but truthfully? Chronic fatigue cannot be cured. We can only do what we can. And hope he’ll feel better.” Warrior’s words came out softly, his breath leaving his chest gently. Neither moved too much. Twilight combed his fingers through Sky’s hair gently, soothing him in the process. It was many hours before they bothered moving. Twilight had picked Sky up with the utmost care, cradling him gently. Taking him to his room was a short walk, as they had moved as far as they could until Sky had motioned to stop. Laying him on the bed, Twilight grabs the covers and puts it over him gently. Soft snores can be heard from the young male.
Warrior grabbed a book and some drinks, heading back to the room Sky was staying in. It had turned out that, with all those restless nights, with all the times they spent holding each other, they had got attached. Most of them slept in pairs or sets of three, unable to sleep otherwise. Twilight, Sky, Wild, and Four had been sleeping in one room. Time and Wind slept in another. Warrior, Hyrule, and Legend slept in a room together. That night, however, Twilight had carried as many mattresses as he could, and they made one big bed from them. Hyrule and Wild had gathered as many blankets as possible, while Wind and Legend had gotten as many pillows as possible. Warrior and Four went and got drinks, snacks, and some gealing potions, a rag enchanted to stay warm, and a rag enchanted to stay cool.
Gathering together, they set everything up. Moving Sky around was both an issue and easy. An issue because they didn’t want to wake him, and easy because he slept through it all. After Twilight, Warrior, and Time had laid down the mattresses, Wind and Hyrule got to work with the blankets. Wild tackled the pillows, laying them down in the order he wanted. By the time they were done, it was late. But it was worth it when Sky woke up to see everyone gathered with him. The way his eyes lit up, and the way he hugged them all. This. Warrior thought, This is what I live to see every day. My family, us. We’re just…… family.

Greetings. I got Funnybunny and Buttonblossom. So this is a direct sequel to my last story. If you know anything about shipping, you can probably see the direction these tidbits are taking. But hopefully it’s a welcome direction! Anyway, enjoy, it was a while in the works I know… sorry!
Friends Who Kiss: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Doll
Pomni never thought she’d get stir-crazy in her bedroom. Her one safe haven in this rainbow-colored madness was starting to bore her. She supposed it was inevitable, people tended to get bored of doing nothing, even if doing nothing was what they wanted with all their heart. Jax, Kinger and Zooble got carted off to enjoy their “reward” of a day at the amusement park after that day’s adventure, so she couldn’t go talk to her boyf-
Her friend that she kissed. So, instead of letting time slow to a crawl as she laid in bed, probably getting her depressed in the process, she decided to get up and go for a walk.
The circus grounds were pretty, but in the same way that N64 or PS1 games were pretty. Vibrant, phony green grass, hills that were smooth enough up close but jagged and blurred at a distance, a lake of royal blue water that flickered on the surface if you stood too far away. It at least felt real enough, the sunlight was warm and she could hear birds… although she didn’t see any birds. Probably just a looping .wav file.
Sun: HIYA POMNI!
Pomni: GH- Oh. Uh. Hey… *waves awkwardly at the Sun*
Sun: Don’t look at me too long! I cause irreparable solar retinopathy!
Pomni: …Uh huh. I don’t want to talk to you anymore.
Sun: Okaaay~!
Pomni went down to the Digital Lake. Caine had dunked her in the water on her first day here, and her sensory overload from that experience basically blocked out what the water felt like. She sat at the edge of the deep blue simulated water, listening to the sound (or was it sound file?) of the waves lapping against the shore. Pomni stopped to remove her shoes, found that she couldn’t, and simply waded into the water. The water felt… nice. Cool, a little too chilly to jump right into. She would have cringed at the thought of her socks getting wet, but she couldn’t tell if the yellow things on the ankles of her shoes were socks or not. So whatever.
She thought about going out into the water. Her outfit was anything but swimwear, but it didn’t stop her from sleeping in it, so what did she care if it got wet? This world was like a cartoon, she’d probably dry off in like five seconds… still, it would have been nicer to go swimming with a friend. She sat on the beach.
Pomni: Hm… I wonder if he likes swimming?
Pomni heard footfalls behind her and flicked her head around. Ragatha was making her way towards the beach, but she paused mid-step upon seeing Pomni turn to look at her.
Ragatha: Sorry, can I join you? Or did you want to be alone?
Pomni: Uh… n-no, I don’t mind. I- just… I’ve never seen this part of the circus up close.
Ragatha smiled and moved to sit down beside Pomni, smoothing out her dress as she sat cross-legged on the sand beside her.
Ragatha: It’s kinda peaceful when things aren’t insane, right? I like coming down here too. It’s like a safe area in a video game… Did you ever play Legend of Zelda?
Pomni: Uh… I might’ve. It’s hard to remember a lot about the outside.
Ragatha: Yeah. Some things I forget, but there are some memories I can’t even if I tried. I remember when I was a little girl and I saw Ocarina of Time for the first time… it was like magic. The lake here reminds me of Lake Hylia.
Pomni: Uh huh… I don’t think I ever properly thanked you for saving me from that snake.
Ragatha: Oh, Pomni, I was just looking out for you! No worries!
Pomni: N-No. I abandoned you when you needed help on my first day here. I can’t believe I was so selfish…
Ragatha: Pomni. It was your first day. I know you were desperate and scared, because all of us were on our first days. I forgive you. *smiles warmly*
Pomni: …..Okay. *her cheeks redden* I uh… had another question. And it’s a little more, uh… personal?
Ragatha: Alright?
Pomni: …Do you… Do you like girls?
Ragatha: …Romantically?
Pomni: Uh… yes?
Ragatha: Honestly? I’m not sure. It’s been forever since I’ve thought about stuff like that. Why, do you?
Pomni: *blushes again* I like… both. Men and women.
Ragatha: I’m glad you have so many options! Well I guess… had so many options. Again though, why? *gives a curious smile*
Pomni: Uh nothing… I mean, no reason. Just curiosity I guess.
Ragatha: Can I ask you a personal question?
Pomni: *gulp* Sure?
Ragatha: What’s going on with you and Jax?
Pomni: What? Nothing! Uh… n-nothing? Nothing.
Ragatha: *Ragatha rests her chin on her closed fist, smiling* Jax never apologized for anything before you came along. I won’t tell anybody if you guys are fooling around, I promise.
Pomni: We’re not in a relationship or anything…
Ragatha: So a situationship?
Pomni: No-? What- What is that?
Ragatha: I dunno. I heard Zooble say it once and I thought it sounded neat. Plus it seems like the only thing Jax would get into…
Pomni: Well we’re not…
Ragatha: Alright. …So, maybe sometime, you want to go to the amusement park together?
Pomni: WHAT-
Ragatha giggled with a hand over her mouth, then gently shushed Pomni.
Ragatha: Hey, hey, no need to shout! Just a question.
Pomni: Wh-Wh- uh… why…?
Ragatha: Because you’re my friend and I like you?
Pomni: I mean… I-You… I-We-The…
Ragatha: Heyyy, easy, New Stuff. You need to breathe with me again?
Pomni: N-No-I just… I really wasn’t expecting that… I mean… *sighs* Yeah, I’d like to, but Jax would ge-
Pomni gasped sharply and clapped her hands over her mouth. Ragatha raised her eyebrows a bit before her usual pleasant smile turned into a smirk.
Ragatha: I thought sooo.~ You really shouldn’t lie, Pomni. I know you’re shy about things like that, but I mean it when I say I’ll keep your secrets. We have to trust each other.
Pomni: WE’RE- IT’S- NO, You-You-You- got it all wrong! We’re not in a relationship, honest! We’re just friends that kiss sometimes..? *she palms herself in the face for admitting too much yet again*
Ragatha: Ooo la la! You guys have kissed, huh?
Pomni: S#!%!
Ragatha: It’s ok-ay Pomni, I promise I won’t tell. I’m happy for you, really.
Pomni: Y-You’re… happy?
Ragatha: Yeah! I’m always worried when someone new shows up. What if they… you know, abstract? Especially if I really like them. But you’ve got a reason to keep on going now, you know? And oh my god, it must be amazing for Jax. I know he’s unhappy like the rest of us, it’s why he pulls all those… “jokes.” At least I imagine that’s why he does. Having a little joy in his life must be so rejuvenating. It’s hard to come by these days… Joy. You know?
Pomni: …You promise you won’t tell anyone..?
Ragatha: Needle in my eye. *she taps her button and smiles*
Pomni: Okay. …Well. Thanks. Uh, wait… were you serious about the whole going to the amusement park thing?
Ragatha: If you want to, sure! I’ve been on all the rides like a dozen times.
Pomni: Wait, as… friends? Right?
Ragatha: As friends. I wouldn’t want to get in the way of what you and Jax have.
Pomni: We’re just friends! That kiss!
Ragatha: Right, well, I don’t want to get in the way of your “friends-that-kiss-ship.” But I hope you’ll be my friend. That doesn’t kiss.
Pomni: It’s not like I would mind kissing you, but-
Ragatha: What?
The silence that followed dropped like a lead weight. Pomni felt her core freeze solid from adrenaline. She got to her feet robotically and turned back to the tent.
Pomni: Gottagosorry.
Pomni dashed across the field to the tent and ducked into the tent, panting with her hands on her knees.
Pomni: “I wouldn’t mind kissing you-“ UGH I’m such a dum@$$! Stupid, stupid, stupid! *she thumps her fist on her forehead*
The jester sat down on one of the many oversized cubes scattered around the tent and groaned. What was she thinking? Why couldn’t she just be attracted to one person?! It wasn’t that hard! Anyone that showed her a little bit of kindness earned her affection now? Well… no. Jax had been nothing but a troll to her, and she still ended up finding him attractive… Despite his irritating tendencies, the rabbit was one of her only sources of real joy in this place, she couldn’t mess things up with him… That was selfish. Jax’s feelings mattered just as much as hers. It would be beyond selfish to leave him because someone else caught her eye. Selfish and dangerous. What if he was heartbroken, and that heartbreak led to hopelessness, and the hopelessness inevitably led to…
Pomni: F#$%... F#$%!
Pomni covered her mouth with both hands and screamed as loud as she could. She had no fingernails to bite or loose hairs to pick out, so she had to relieve her anxiety somehow. She panted, covered up and screamed again. It wasn’t enough, not even close, but it was something. Like scratching a bug bite, it felt good in the moment but it would only itch again. She knew there was only one real way to cool down the white hot ball of anxiety in her belly, and it was going to suck. She wanted to projectile vomit.
The only real thing to do was rehearse. She got up and began to pace around the tent. Pacing helped her think. Helped with a lot of things, really… It didn’t cure anxiety but it helped temper it somewhat. What was she going to say..?
—-----
Jax, Zooble and Kinger arrived back at the tent around the late afternoon.
Jax: Well that was a waste of time.
Zooble: No s#!%. I think I rode the ferris wheel seven times in a row. ‘Least that way I won’t be nauseous for dinner.
Jax: Time flies when you’re having fun. *gives a huge, fake smile before immediately scowling again*
Zooble: Ugh. Whatever.
Kinger: Hey! W-Who’s that?!
Kinger pointed into the tent. Pomni was in the main room, pacing in a tight square.
Zooble: Oh for… That’s Pomni, Kinger. Are you gonna forget every time she leaves your line of sight like a toddler? Seriously-
Kinger: She’s coming right for us!
Zooble: What?
Pomni was indeed making a mad dash for them. Kinger braced for impact and Zooble took a few steps backwards before Pomni collided with Jax, throwing her arms around him in a hug.
Jax: OOF! Hey what-?!
Pomni only squeezed him tighter, burying her face in his overalls. Jax felt his cheeks warm up despite himself.
Zooble: …Ew.
Jax: Uh… *in a nervous, sing-song whisper* What are you doiiing~...?
Pomni didn’t reply with words, instead grabbing Jax by the wrist and tugging him off to their bedrooms. Zooble and Kinger watched the two of them leave, then swapped confused looks.
Zooble: That was… interesting.
Kinger: Something is amiss. No one has ever hugged Jax before.
Zooble: I’m amazed you remember that and not who Pomni is…
—---
Pomni dragged Jax into her room before slamming the door shut hard enough to rattle a few smaller toys scattered about.
Jax: …Oh, hi Pomni. Yeah, I’m really tired and hungry, thank you for asking. Why, that’s right, I do have a few questions-
Pomni: I can’t calm down. I need to get this all out. Listen for a second…
Jax: …Okay.
Pomni: I don’t want to lose you. I know you said we’re just friends that kiss but you’re really f@#$ing important to me. So just know that you didn’t do anything wrong. But- I have a crush on Ragatha. We didn’t do anything together, but I can’t stop thinking about her and I don’t know why! You-You-You make me really happy and you make me feel like I can survive here and that hasn’t changed but I just feel the… the same thing when I look at her the same way I do when I look at you, and… and… I just feel horrible! I don’t want to replace you because you… you… I… Without you I would have gone crazy by now, and you’re an insufferable clod but you’re so charming and funny and-and-and handsome even if you’re just a cartoon like me, and… oh God I wish I knew how to stop what I’m feeling but I can’t, and I felt like exploding all afternoon because I thought of you hearing all this and then abstracting, and it would have been my fault because I just couldn’t keep my stupid hormones in check and then I wouldn’t have you anymore and I would basically be a murderer and I’d cry myself to sleep every night and-and it… and… and-and-and-and…
Pomni stammered for a while longer before panting heavily, staring down at the floor. She couldn’t bring herself to look at Jax.
Pomni: I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I-I-I-I… I’m sorry…
Jax: …You think I’m handsome, huh?
Pomni: WRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! *claps her hands to the sides of her head and falls to her knees*
Jax: Jeez, okay! Not the answer you were looking for, got it! Just trying to lighten the mood..!
Pomni: And I so appreciate it! I mean that! But I feel like the world’s gonna end right now! And I’d appreciate a real reaction pleeeease! *yanks on the bells of her coxcomb hat*
Jax: If this is about yesterday, I told you I forgive you. I thought you were cheating, but you weren’t.
Pomni: B-But isn’t this cheating? Liking someone else?
Jax: No? I told you, you can be “friends that kiss” with Ragatha too, if you tell me first. If that’s what you want, go ahead and go. Honestly, I’m not surprised. You said she was pretty.
Pomni: She is pretty.
Jax: If you like kissing Raggedy Ann. *short chuckle* Look, Pompom. We’re already in technohell. Whatever keeps you from abstracting is okay with me. As long as I get my time with you.
Pomni: Don’t call me Pompom. But… of course… I’m not replacing you. I just… I like Ragatha too.
Jax: Gay.
Pomni: Shut up. I… I guess I was worried you’d be really upset.
Jax: Nah. I think you were more upset than me, honestly. I get it, it’s kinda weird to just have a bunch of people you kiss. But honestly? Who cares? …I gotta wonder though, what made you want to ask? Was it the snake?
Pomni: Sort of the snake. But… she asked me to go to the amusement park with her today.
Jax: And you said you would? Spoilers, it sucks.
Pomni: *small laugh* It’s not like we have other options.
Jax: There’s the lake.
Pomni: …I think I want to take you to the lake.
Jax: You- Oh. ….Eheh. *he blushes* Yeah. I think that’d be fun.
Pomni: Fun? In this place? That’ll be the day!
The two of them laughed together, before Pomni gave him a hug. He hugged her back.
Pomni: …We’re just going to the amusement park. It’s not like we’re going to make out or anything yet.
Jax: Pompom. I’m not jealous.
Pomni: I know, but you said this was your first relationship, and… and I didn’t want to ruin it. And I don’t want you to abstract…
Jax: I’m not gonna. I’ve got you.
Pomni: Yeah. You do have me… until this whole place comes crashing down. I lov-
Jax’s ears shot up, and Pomni froze, looking up at him with wide, roulette eyes.
Jax: …Yeah. Same. *he winks* But we both know that already, so don’t say it, okay?
Pomni: Okay… do… you want to stay here tonight?
Jax: I’d really like that, yeah.
The two “friends that kissed” hugged each other for a long while longer, until Jax broke the silence.
Jax: Uh… why are your shoes so wet..?

Feeling - from School of the Legends Year One
“I wonder what’s at the top,” Beau mused. “Leaves,” said Jack. “And maybe birds,” Jill pointed out. “If it’s tall enough, clouds.” “Do you want to climb it to see?” Beau asked, eyes shining. “No, thank you,” said Jack, taking three steps backward. “Given my track record, I’m going to only be okay at climbing, and just one slip could cause me to die, so no, thanks.” He turned around and went back inside, passing his dad without a word. Once inside, Jack retrieved his backpack and went to his room, closing the door behind him. Jack dug through his pack, pulling out all of the results for all of his classes, frowning at the C’s and D’s marked all over them. It didn’t bother him. It didn’t. But for some reason, there was a sour taste in his mouth, and he had the sudden urge to crumple the papers or tear them apart. His fingers clenched the papers, causing them to bend and crinkle under his grip. He sighed, loosening his hold and resting his head against his hand. “I did my best,” he murmured to himself. “And that’s all they should be asking of me.” He lifted his head, not feeling much better. He set the papers on his desk--he’d show his dad later--and then sat on the floor against it. Outside his room, he faintly heard the door open and a chatter indicating conversation. There was a knock at his door--his dad letting Jack know that he was about to make dinner, and a request for Jack to come out and spend time with his cousin. “Alright,” was Jack’s reply, but he stayed on the floor for a few more moments before getting up to join everyone else.
Grip - from The Secret Portal Part Two (Jedi POV)
Eomma put her hand on my leg suddenly. He knows. I felt a second presence attempt to push against Eomma’s block in my mind. Eomma strengthened her barrier, but that made the man push harder. I groaned, pressing my hand to my temple. At the noise, Xiang, whose family was still on, looked up. “You alright, Jedi?” they asked. “Yeah,” I said. “Headache, that’s it.” Xiang nodded and returned to their tablet. I felt the tiniest pinprick pop a hole in Eomma’s barrier. She sealed it immediately, but I then heard the man’s voice: I know what you are. My hands tightened into fists. Eomma’s grip on me tightened as she attempted to ward the man off. Now that he got the information, he was trying to get a hold on me, just like those other Inutilia kids. I felt trapped in the middle of a battle between the two telepaths. Every so often, Xiang would look up from their tablet and ask if I was certain I felt alright. I found it harder and harder to answer them. I just hoped they wouldn’t used their powers. I glanced up at Eomma, who was beginning to sweat. She groaned as she put her hand to her temple. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, took a deep breath, and when she opened her eyes again, they were glowing purple. Fighting against this man was beginning to wear her out. Eomma, I managed to signal. Please, you’re going to hurt yourself. Eomma shook her head, not being able to take her mind off of the protection on mine. I didn’t want to know what would happen if a telepath’s mind stretched too far. During the hours I’d spent reading all day, there were horror stories of telepaths literally ripping their minds apart. I shivered at the thought. I gasped. Eomma, we need to tire him out. We need to push him to his limits. Eomma nodded to indicate she got the message. I felt the shield around my mind tighten. Eomma reached out and grabbed my hand. I squeezed as tight as I could. Xiang, I could tell, noticed Eomma’s eyes, even when she tried to hide it. I felt my stomach sink as they looked down, as if contemplating something. They looked at their parents, both of whom were preoccupied in either sleeping or reading, took a deep breath, and closed their eyes. I felt a third presence, briefly, as it seemed Xiang sweeped our minds just long enough to figure out the gist of what was happening. Xiang opened their eyes, glowing purple, and I felt Eomma’s barrier strengthen by a small amount.
Mess - from The Secret Portal Part Two (Rose POV)
We all stepped into the hallway, looking around. It seemed Kelsey’s explosion had affected the whole building—not just the room we’d been in. “What could possibly do this?” Noelle asked. “Kelsey,” I stated bluntly. “She didn’t know what she was doing!” Maddie shot at me. “I didn’t say she did,” I said, shrugging. Maddie was being a child. I understood. Robbie made it way too ominous what was gonna happen to Kelsey. Like, he was probably trying to protect Maddie, but make it sound like there’s some hope, dude. “Then what are you saying?” Maddie got closer to me, glaring up at me. “That she did it!” “It wasn't her! She wasn't thinking!” Maddie let out a short scream of frustration. “Maddie, you need to calm down,” I said, shocked at her outburst. She wasn't like this earlier. Earlier she was the one being blunt. “You need to calm up!” I raised an eyebrow. “That didn’t make sense, but you get my point!” “Not really.” Maddie’s eyes were blazing, almost to the point where I swore they were glowing amber with rage. “Remember what I said earlier? You underreact to everything!” “This again?” I scoffed. “Fine. You wanna know why we’re in this mess? Why your precious Kelsey did this? Because you overreacted!” “I was right!” Maddie screamed as she shoved me against the wall, seemingly taller and stronger than I’d thought. “Besides, you’re the one who found the Gateway.” “We have no idea where Lexi and Ash are!” “Why do you care?” Maddie snarled, her teeth bared, almost sharp. “You only care about yourself!” That last word came out as a growl. Her eyes I now realized were glowing amber. Her teeth were growing into sharp fangs, and I flinched as the wire connected her braces snapped. Orange and white fur sprouted in patches along her body. She shoved me to the ground. I did something I hadn’t done in years: let my fear show. For it wasn't an eleven-year-old girl that now stood above me, but a great Siberian tiger.
Brush - from The Secret Portal Part One (Maddie POV)
“Wait,” Rose said, putting her hand up again. “Do you hear that?” Everyone fell silent. Everything else was silent. No wind rustled the grass, no trees swayed. No birds chirped. Nothing. Noelle sighed, “I don’t he—” “Shh,” Rose hushed. She slowly moved forward, then sat on the ground on her heels. “Guys, come here.” I looked at Kelsey, who shrugged, and we cautiously walked to Rose, Noelle and Gwen right behind us. As we came closer, I could see a rock about two feet in diameter. Metal by the look of it. Only, it didn’t seem rusted at all, which was strange, unless it didn’t rain in this field. “Great,” Noelle said. “A rock. Discovery of the century.” She cupped her hands to her mouth. “Ladies and nonexistent gentlemen! Rose Hernandez found a rock!” “Don’t you hear it?” Rose asked. I wondered if Noelle’s tone bothered her. “Hear what?” Gwen whispered. She dropped her drumstick and quickly picked it up. “A humming.” We were silent again. “What humming?” Noelle asked. Rose looked up. “You honestly can’t hear that?” “No,” I said. Kelsey shook her head. Rose sighed and stood up, neglecting to brush the grass of her pants. “Well, wherever Lexi and Ash are, I think it has something to do with that rock.” “The rock?” Noelle said, not buying it. Rose slid her hands into the pockets of her jeans. “I mean, yeah. It’s buzzing, like the wall.” “I don’t hear any buzzing,” Noelle muttered. “Me neither,” I agreed. “I… don’t either,” said Kelsey. “Sorry, Rose.” Gwen cringed, now tapping the drumstick on her palm. Rose ignored us. “The wall ended up being a portal or something that led here. What if this is the same thing?” Gwen’s eyebrows shot up. Her drumstick stilled. “A portal? Rose, I’m sorry, what are you talking about?”
It's called The Secret Portal, Gwen, of course it is!!!
