The ceiling trim, the curtains, the way he arranged the toys, even the color of the woodstain on the rocking chair are all exactly like you wanted. He saw how many long hours you put into planning it out, and he's determined to execute it to the nines. It paid off, the nursery is both your favorite room in the whole house. Sometimes he walks around there while you're asleep, making sure it's as perfect as he left it last time (it always is). He looks through the toys, wondering how they'll change with age and love, looks through the books, figuring out what order to read them all to your baby. he grabs one or two to read now for practice, so he can get all the voices right by the time baby is here. you wake up from your nap to find him close by, reading Beatrix Potter stories softly to himself, to your baby. he keeps glancing up once in a while at your belly, hoping junior can hear him in there. once you're up he kisses you, then kisses your baby, just like he always does. Kit Walker is so excited to be a dad, so excited for you to be parents, and he wouldn't want to do it with anyone else.

eddie being the speaker for venom’s adoring rant he eventually goes on at the end of your date when you’re just slowly strolling through a park, taking the long way home just to draw the evening out (but also eddie filtering it because some of the points are VERY INAPPROPRIATE and so venom gets mad and eventually takes over even though you are in public)

"You're very pretty," Eddie narrates the voice in his head, but he shakes his head and tries again, "Pret-ty. He says- He says it weird, like prit-ty."

"Pretty," You try, voice low and gruff in a poor attempt to match Venom's, "Like that?"

"Spot on," Eddie laughs, and you let your chest shake with giggles as you roam down the sidewalk, "And he says your dress makes him think of blood, which," Eddie grimaces, "I'm sure, in his mind, is a compliment."

"Hm," You hum, glancing down at the red fabric you're draped in, "Yeah, I'll choose to take that kindly."

"And he wants to- woah," Eddie's eyes go wide and his hand tightens around your own momentarily, "Uh, hold your hand."

"What?"

"He wants to hold your hand!" Eddie insists, "And- Jesus, Venom! And tuck you into bed."

"I said fuck!" A voice roars from deep inside of Eddie's chest, and before you know it black ooze is emerging from your boyfriend's skin. You panic, yanking Eddie-turned-Venom into an alleyway between two apartment buildings and praying that no one is watching you.

"I said I wanted to fuck you into the bed," Venom clarifies, towering over you in the dark alley. If you didn't know him, in any other scenario, you'd be fainting from fear. But the hulking alien doesn't bother you now, and you put a hand over his mouth full of sharp teeth to try and get him to quiet down.

"Okay," You soothe, trying to acknowledge him so that he doesn't feel so misinterpreted, "Okay Venom. That's very- uh, nice. But you can't be out right now, you know that. Please just go back inside Eddie?"

"He is lying, I cannot trust him!" Venom huffs, voice not quieted at all, merely muffled by your hand, "I did not say I wanted to hold your hand. I said I wanted you to fuck my tongue!"

"Charming," You spit, face flushed with fire matching the heat in your belly, "Really, Venom, I- I'd like to, but- but we're out now, and I need you to quiet down and go back inside."

"Eddie does not deserve to take you on dates like this. He does not tell you how good you look."

"Yes he does!" You insist, still clamping your hand desperately over Venom's mouth. It does nothing, but you can't stand the thought of letting go.

"He uses words like gorgeous and beautiful. They are true," Venom promises, "But he never says sexy or delicious. Those are true, too, and you should hear them."

"Thank you, Venom," You croon, moving your hands to his cheeks to tug them closer to your face. He accepts a kiss to the teeth, seeing as he hasn't bothered to give himself lips in this form, and it's a rather odd sensation on your own. But it quiets him down, and he's calm under your touch.

"I'm happy you think those things," You grin, and you can't deny that you're flattered, "But if you want to say those things, we have to wait until we're home. I promise, as soon as the door shuts behind us you can join Eddie and I, okay? He'll say beautiful, you can say..." You fumble for a term, inches away from Venom's face, and he offers a helpful hint.

"Hot stuff!" He roars, definitely loud enough to be heard from the street.

"Okay! Okay, hot stuff," You nod, peering horrified at the mouth of the alleyway to make sure no one is coming to investigate, "That's very nice Venom, I'd love to hear that later."

"I will go back inside now," Venom tells you, and your heart rate spikes when you hear rushed footsteps coming your way, "But I will see you later."

"Later, later!" You promise, and the symbiote can't seem to melt into Eddie fast enough. As soon as the face in front of you is tan instead of goopy, you surge for it, locking lips with Eddie in a gesture you hope looks passionate and not rushed.

The man doesn't know what you're doing, but he doesn't care. He lets you slam him against the wall behind him with a soft groan, and you shut your eyes just as the footsteps thud beside you.

"Oh-" A resident of the nearby apartments scoffs, "Gross. Get a fucking room or something, you'll get an infection out here. Perverts!"

You flip the man off for good measure, and wait until he's a safe distance away to part from Eddie. He looks dazed from the kiss, but as soon as he comes to, he's got a message from Venom.

"He wants to know if he can bite that guy's head off," Eddie drawls, and you sigh, typical.

"No," You scoff, grabbing Eddie's hand and leading him back out of the alleyway, "But we should get home, he's got lots to say to me."

"And do to you," Eddie's face scrunches as he listens to Venom's rambling, shaking his head slightly at a suggestion you don't hear, "I- I don't think that's possible, buddy."

"What was it like?" You spoke hesitantly, choosing your words carefully as you break the comfortable silence where you and Bucky had been quietly looking at the antiques and knickknacks around the small store.

"What was what like?" Bucky looks down at you, eyebrow raised.

You nudge him with your shoulder.

"Hush, I was getting there," you laugh. "What was it like in the '40s?"

Bucky had told you plenty about his life both pre and post Winter Soldier; however, you still felt like asking again.

Bucky smiled softly, looking up and around the room. "It was hectic. We had just entered the war and everyone was panicking. I remember Ma and Becca were practically begging me not to enlist." He pauses, gathering his thoughts. His mother and sister were hard for him to talk about sometimes, so you grab his hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.

"It was funny, though. After enlisting, I felt like I was on top of the world. I was proud to join, y'know? Think Ma and Becca were proud of me, too. Just scared."

"Understandable," you agree. You bite your lip, thinking. "Did enlisting get you a girlfriend?"

Bucky blows out air in a stifled laugh. "No, but it didn't hurt my game," he teases.

You roll your eyes before settling on an old photograph in a catch-all sort of box labeled "Photographs: 25¢ each." The photo was lying neatly on top of the others, practically calling you toward it like a siren to a sailor. You begin moving towards it, letting Bucky's hand fall out of your grasp as you go to pick it up.

"Why do you ask?" Bucky questions, coming up to stand behind you at the photo box. He gently slides his arms around your body, hugging you from behind, gazing at the photograph over your shoulder.

You hum. "I don't know; I guess all this old stuff just got me thinking."

Bucky stays silent, letting you pull your thoughts together.

"You think this would've been us?" You ask.

The photo you were drawn to was of a '30s couple smiling and laughing on the porch of their first home. You didn't know who these people were, obviously, but you recognized them as you and Bucky. It was a strange feeling, and you hoped Bucky would understand it, too.

"Oh, for sure. I woulda been crazy about you back then," Bucky smiles, imagining you in his time. "You in victory rolls, the long skirts, out dancing? God, you know I would've been talking you up."

You giggle, feeling flustered. "I would've married you, bought you a house, given you kids, whatever you wanted," he continues. "I would've had the prettiest person in all of space and time sending me off to war."

You frown slightly. "You know, for people who fight bad guys and aliens on a regular basis, I really don't like the idea of sending you off to war. It's too dangerous. You might fall off a train, or something."

Bucky laughs, poking you in the side. "Come on, now."

"No, seriously. I hate it. I pray every night that you'll come back unscathed when you go on missions with Sam, and... I just can't imagine having to rely on letters or not being able to just go with you," you take a breath, grounding yourself. You realize you're working yourself up.

"I would have, though."

"Would've what?"

"Relied on the letters. I would've read them every night, and write you just as much. Telling you not to be stupid and not die. I would've sat by the mailbox everyday just to get your letters and know you're alright."

Bucky grins. "I would've come back. For you."

"If you could've just gone back, don't you think you would have?"

"Nah," Bucky dismisses the thought. "If I hadn't fallen off that train, I'd be ancient or dead right now and I wouldn't have gotten to love you."

You set the photo back down in the box before turning around in Bucky's arms. You slide your arms around his neck and he lets his fall to your waist.

"I'm serious," he says when the two of you make eye contact. "What we got, Doll? It's timeless. I was gonna end up in your arms one way or another."

You lean up and kiss him.

Ngl ,i love your work,but it rubs me wrong how Peter's discomfort w venom doing sexual things without Peter's consent or knowledge is treated as a joke,or just generally kind of dismissed. Also- I'm autistic and love love love autistic peter parker hc,but the fact he was called 'on the spectrum' soley because he got upset at venom for this and 'couldn't put himself in venoms shoes' also kind of felt really bad.

I'd also like to take this chance to say that the actions of one Wade W. Wilson do not reflect the thoughts of the ask-spiderpool moderator. The ask-spiderpool moderator does not condone his words or actions. He is a bad man. The words he's saying are bad.

Deadpool is definitely playing the role of a villain here, and he's kind of intentionally choosing his words with the intention of punishing Peter and invalidating him. He knows what he's doing. And Spider-man knows it too.

I know it's something a lot of people don't like to see from Wade – but it's a part of his character that I find interesting to explore and to see him eventually overcome. His ability to weaponise everything, and his instinct of self-sabotage. It becomes dangerous territory to write sometimes because people generally want to side with Deadpool and believe he'll do no wrong, but - I don't know, to strip him of all his ugliness would be untrue to him. Similarly with Peter – I guess I'm just really interested in parts of Wade and Peter that you don't really get to see explored in fanon very often.

It's kind of a problem though that yeah - when you write this sort of a thing there's the risk of people who don't look at it critically - so you get people idolising or siding with Deadpool when what he's doing is really bad actually. It's kind of a miracle, the sorts of things Wade gets away with, while Peter's attacked for it - and that's something I kind of like to examine, too.

I think I do have a responsibility to make this blog feel safe, but also challenging and interesting - and I think I'll be working hard to kind of find a balance between the two. I'm still trying to figure it out - to write what I find interesting, knowing my own intentions but knowing it probably will be misinterpreted – or writing something else that is easy and pleasing to everyone (not really my bag, and also near impossible!), or just not write at all (also impossible for me! Got a brain-itch to scratch...)

I really appreciate when people read my writing and see what I'm getting at – but it doesn't always happen, and it isn't really anyone's fault. I kind of like to offer explanations and further meta, and the fics, because I love to be understood - and the server where I love to have discussions with people about how they receive these posts. The reason I love running this blog is the discussions I have with people about it. The back-and-forth, and so I really do love people to look at Wade and Peter a little deeper.

I have a genuine interest in autistic Peter and it's something I want to explore further in a sincere light, this is kind of just the first tease of something I want to explore more later, if the asks permit. I think every Peter Parker is autistic-coded - I've written a little bit about it here! I'm no expert on diagnosis - but as fantastical as ask-spiderpool can get sometimes - I kind of always want what Wade and Peter are going through in their heads to feel real and tangible and understandable, and come from a place of sincerity.

The consent issue is a complicated one – (as is the way with applying real-world-logic to the realm of alien sex with what you thought was just a slick space-age onesie...) Peter's relationship with the symbiote occupies more of a realm of metaphor than anything - and I don't think there's any sort of 1-to-1 comparison to the real world. (Has your sex-toy ever gained sentience and passed judgement upon you? Peter Parker's worst nightmare!)

There is a running theme of Peter kind of having his boundaries crossed - and the symbiote is sort of tied to that theme. The symbiote was entirely responsive to Peter's thoughts and didn't do anything Peter didn't will it to do - the real issue is the mortifying ordeal of being perceived. And it's a running theme with Peter - he hides so much and very often his privacy is violated.

It's often played for laughs, because Deadpool doesn't always take Spider-man's boundaries seriously and likes to push him – but it's something that will come to a head, and Peter will be laying down the law very soon.

The sunniest flower for our sunniest Pedro Boy, Javi. Sunflowers often represent the sun and Javi just beams like it, doesn't he? Sunflowers also bring good fortune, and represent a long life and lasting happiness. It is often seen as a symbol of faith and devotion, radiating positivity and hope. In some Eastern religions, such as Buddhism, sunflowers are considered sacred and represent spiritual enlightenment. Or, divine inspiration, as Javi would say...

Sweet Peas represent goodbyes and yearning. In Victorian England, for example, sweet peas were often given as a sign of departure or goodbye to a loved one. Considering Joel has lost Sarah, I'd say a Sweet Pea would be a good representation of a flower for Joel. Sweet Peas also can mean blissful pleasure, friendship and gratitude. They come in all sorts of colours too, such as shades of white, pink, coral, red, violet and blue, and some combining two colours.

More subtle than the bold traditional red rose, pink roses typically symbolise admiration, happiness, and love. Pink roses also symbolise sweetness, femininity, appreciation, and admiration - all traits that this handsome agent showers in abundance towards his love interest. I think receiving a bunch of beautiful pink, velvety roses from Marcus Pike would totally sweep you off your feet and totally convince you to go to Washington DC with him.

Red poppies are worn as a symbol of support for the Armed Forces community, and to remember our fallen military personnel. The poppy is a common symbol that has been used to represent everything from peace to death, and even simply sleep. Seeing as Frankie worked in the forces, he would probably tuck a red poppy flower behind your ear then kiss you sweetly, as he walks hand-in-hand with you through the local Veteran Day Parade.

In the language of flowers, wild heliotrope symbolises devotion and an everlasting love, which when you think about Whiskey losing his sweetheart and baby boy, this flower couldn't be more perfect for him. It has a delicious scent and the flowers follow the sun as it tracks across a winters day, hence the name "Heliotrope" which is derived from the Greek Helios meaning sun and tropos meaning 'turn' or 'direction'. Everlasting love is a journey that you rarely falter from the path, so I imagine Whiskey would choose this flower to place on the grave of his sweetheart and baby boy.

Passion flowers, not only look a little alien in their bloom, they also have healing properties, which Ezra could do with in abundance, right? Roman Catholic priests of the late 1500's named it for the Passion (suffering and death) of Jesus Christ. And Kevva, has this prospector suffered... Passion Flower can incite love and passion and help you attract companionship. A perfect flower to represent my main man Ezra, I think...

Colourful, fun and a little kooky looking, gerbera daisies are just flowers that make me smile in abundance. And so does Dieter Bravo. Yellow gerbera daisies tend to symbolize cheerfulness and celebration. Orange gerberas convey that the person you present it to is the sunshine of your life. Red gerberas represent an unconscious love or to be fully immersed in love. White gerberas symbolise innocence and purity. Pink gerberas are a symbol of admiration, adoration, or high esteem for someone. I imagine Dieter would love these because he would be attracted to the variety of colours and they would make him smile, even when high...

Black dahlias aren't truly black, but rather a very deep shade of crimson that appear black. They symbolise betrayal and sadness, so shouldn't be gifted lightly. It also represents inner strength, likely due to the plant's ability to tolerate such harsh conditions. Although a stunning flower to behold, the symbolism doesn't come without it's notoriety; they're associated with the infamous murder of Elizabeth Short (The Black Dahlia Murder) in 1947 in Los Angeles. Black dahlias and Dave York? Nuff' said.

A flower with a bite, just like Max. A carnivorous plant, this flower eats insects. They have simple nodding flowers and leaves modified as hollow pitchers, which function to passively trap insects, luring them with nectar, then digesting them or drowning them with fluids, later to be absorbed by the plant. So, although it looks pretty and alluring on the outside, beware whats hidden underneath - just like our feisty vampire, Max. Nom.

Anemones are my most favourite flower. It was believed that the flower sprang from the blood of the slain Adonis, who was a lover of the goddess Aphrodite. As such, anemones are often seen as a symbol of love and passion. And there's no-one more passionate a lover than Javi P, right? Anemone flowers are available in many colors with each symbolizing a different meaning. White anemone flowers symbolize sincerity due to their delicate appearance. Red and pink anemone flowers symbolize death or forsaken love. Purple anemone flowers symbolize protection from evil. I think Javi would be a purple anemone, due to the job he has... he'd definitely protect you.

With their vibrant orange, yellow and red petals, naturally marigolds are symbols of positive emotions, like joy and excitement. Marigolds also represent energy, good luck, warmth, creativity, prosperity and passion. Oberyn exudes passion in abundance so this flower would be prefect for him. Their vibrant colors and strong fragrance make them an essential part of various traditions, festivals, and rituals worldwide, such as Día de Los Muertos. A perfect flower to represent Oberyn, in both life and death.

The Ghost Orchid earned its name due to its ghostly white petals and the illusion of floating in mid-air when attached to trees, with no visible roots or leaves. The Ghost Orchid is considered one of the most elusive orchids in existence. Its scarcity and remote habitat have contributed to its mythical status among plant enthusiasts. Due to its unique growth habits and specific environmental requirements, sightings of the Ghost Orchid in the wild are extremely rare. A little like our Mandalorian here in the sense you never see his face, he, like the flower, is elusive and a rare specimen indeed. And when you do get an eventual glimpse of it, it is absolutely breathtaking...

Holding on to their shape and color long after being cut, strawflowers are said to symbolize immortality and are commonly known as 'Everlasting' flowers. Their endurance and strength is notable and we can compare this to our resident hero of the Pedro Boys, Marcus Moreno. Everlasting flowers symbolize eternal love, hope, and remembrance. They are often used in wedding bouquets, funeral arrangements, and other special occasions to express enduring sentiments and commemorate cherished memories. Considering Marcus is also a widower, this flower is a great choice to represent him.

The bird of paradise flower symbolizes joyfulness, freedom, anticipation, and excitement. Furthermore, it represents faithfulness, love and thoughtfulness while being the official flower of the ninth wedding anniversary. As someone who is often bogged down in the the dark gloom of investigations, a colourful, peppy flower such as this would brighten Tim's mood instantly after coming home from a long day of work.

Tiger lilies represent courage, strength, and confidence. The main red tiger lily meaning is passion. White tiger lily meaning can be described as purity. Pero would be of the red variety, considering he wields such strength, courage and confidence on the battlefield. Tiger lilies also have healing properties and the lance leaf tiger lily is native to China. Apt considering Pero fights there...

Giving someone one of these small blossoms is a pledge that you will never forget them and that you will think of them often. For this reason, they're also considered a symbol of fidelity and faithfulness. Forget-me-nots represent true love and giving someone this flower means you truly love and respect this person. Similarly to making a wish, if Max gifts you with these flowers, he's not likely to forget you in a hurry.

The most classic of them all, a red rose is a perfect choice for a significant other. This stunning shade most popularly stands for passion and communicates love. It's the rose of romance and deep feelings, but can also relay desire, beauty, victory, harmony, joy, luck, pride and martyrdom. Which if you're familiar with Silva and his traits, this flower is the perfect choice for him.

A flower that is not very common, Petunias display feelings of deep resentment and anger. Despite their amazingly striking appearance, they take people by surprise because of their shocking underlying meanings. And if you know a thing or two about Veracruz, you know he's just like a Petunia - beautiful on the outside, but sinister and resentful on the inside...

Ivan, the Next CF Star

Just two months after his debut, Ivan was selected as an ambassador for the famous luxury brand Q. Ivan is the first non-native 'pet human' to become an ambassador for Q. "Ivan's stoic yet playful visuals are perfect for capturing the diverse appeal of Q," said Q's chief designer.

Ivan, who recently topped the Alien Stage live voting, is being touted as the next big CF star after Luca. He's been inundated with requests from designers all over the world who want to put ads on his outfits. He has already collaborated with nine brands, all of them big brands. The public's attention is focused on how his growing popularity will affect the Alien stage.

Since the third round aired, it’s become very popular. Are you feeling the buzz?

Alien Stage is growing in popularity every day. Did the crew recognise me during the CF shoot? It's funny because at the beginning of the show, there weren't many people in the world who recognized me, and now there are so many people that I can't get through the streets by myself. (Laughs)

You’re currently ranked #78, at this rate top 20 is possible, isn’t it?

Thank you for your kind words. I'd love to keep the momentum going and make it to the top 20, but I'll leave the choice up to the masses.

You have a lot of titles that describe you, right? Do you have a favourite?

My favorite is "Blocell's #1 Brand Reputation" from a recent article. It makes me feel like all those days of photo shoots and commercials weren't in vain.

What do you think makes you unique?

I can think of more bad things than good (laughs), but, um… I think the thing that fans talk about a lot is my partial fang. I think I have a normal face, but there are many people who remember me for my fang.

What’s your secret to getting the best shots?

The day before my schedule, I study the brand I'm going to shoot for so that I can clearly understand the directions on set. Knowing the brand in detail is fundamental as a model. I also think it's important to make it a habit to take care of my body.

What is your ideal girlfriend? Lots of girls around the world want to know!

I don’t have a specific dream girl, I’ve never really thought about it. If I were to choose one…. No, I don’t have one. (Laughs)

Are you close with Till?

What’s your definition of “close”? (Laughs)

We’re just okay. Mediocre at best.

So for general troll temperature headcanons, let me tell you, you'd better enjoy being cold/not be too bothered by it cause the higher on the spectrum, the colder the blood you're touching and cuddling. The warmest a troll will ever be is if they're a mutantblood, the closest thing to getting to normal human body temperatures and the ones with any real warmth to them. Rust bloods being the lowest on the hemospectrum that aren't mutants don't have as much warmth but still tend to run warmer than other blood types on the hemospectrum. Not exactly lukewarm, little bit warmer than that. When we hit the goldbloods, that's when it starts getting lukewarm temperatures. Smack dab in the middle of the spectrum, the Jades, aren't very warm or anything, but it's a few hairs away from being able to consider them cold feeling. Anything above the jades is when things start getting cold.

Teals you could say are cold, maybe not unpleasantly so, you could feel such a difference that you would no longer feel any real warmth. Cerulean is when the temperatures could be so stark as opposed to human warmth that coming into direct skin to skin contact with it could definitely shock your skin and make you flinch initially. Purples are. Man. Remember how I said you'd better like being cold? This is where the cold could be the brink of being unpleasant for some who can't handle it very well, it really starts setting in the longer you choose stay in physical contact with them. Violets, I'd argue, would be downright unpleasantly cold to the touch, like, you know how if you go outside in the snow and your body feels numb and face would be stinging? Like that.

With that general stuff of how perceive the coldness of some trolls established. Um. Mallek and Marvus :} I'm going to apologize in advance, Marvus is a character I've always been intimidated by in terms of writing. I feel like I just don't get him enough, and I'd hate to mischaracterize him :(( but I'll do my best!! (Putting a break here cause I type a lot)

Marvus and Mallek I feel like have a tendency to be mischievous little shits sometimes, once becoming aware and acquainted with the warmth Mspar emits and how cold they are in comparison they like to have fun with it. Mallek likes to do that thing some people do, ya know, where people take something fucking cold like a thing of ice cream or an ice cold drink and fucking PRESS it against your skin and it makes you scream? That. But no ice cream, it's his hand touching their bare skin (which still makes them shriek and jolt in surprise). They turn around and playfully smack him on the shoulder in retaliation.

Marvus likes doing the same thing but for him GOD FUCK the cold feels so much worse than Mallek. Bitch IS the ice being pressed against your skin. He doesn't even need to use his whole hand, he could press a finger to them and get a reaction. Punching doesn't do much to Mallek anyways, trolls and their thicker skins, but Marvus doesn't have a lot of squish to begin with. It's weird punching someone who feels so..solid? Not to say he's got absolutely no squish, but he has very little of it.

Cuddling... ahehhehehe cracks knuckles.

Since I'm already talking about Marvus lemme get to him already. Since he is a freezer, it'll take a bit to get fully comfortable laying against him. Warmth can overpower or balance out a trolls temperature, this is something that's very hard to do with bloods higher than indigo. Something like either them or Marvus wearing a good amount of clothing to separate makes it to where they don't feel immediately uncomfortable with the chill of his skin. Marvus I feel like is kinda finicky when it comes to touch or laying for long periods of time?? It's kinda funny, you could hug him, and he'd allow it for just a few seconds before he'd wiggle his way out of it, a playful look to his eyes. Or allowing you to rub his skin for a bit before pulling away. Only when he's tired or is ready to be settled in completely is when you can really, for real, cuddle him without him squirming out of it.

Now Mallek? Umpfh. Touch starved. Mspar too actually, I headcanon that they are a touched starved person themselves. So how about two touched starved people help another out..by cuddling. And everything else that involves touch under the moon really.

For him, he kinda loses it when he's in physical contact with them. It's the warmth! It really gets to him, and it makes his brain go nuts. He used to fight the overwhelming urge to wrap them up really tight in his arms cause ya know. Snake brain, cold, friend/flushcrush is warm, curl around the warmth. He didn't fight it anymore when they actively sought out physical touch from him themselves and was actively encouraging him and letting him know it was okay to search for it back.

It was through being around him that they discovered the most surprising thing they never thought of a troll doing. Purring.

They have never heard of a sound as soft as purring coming from a troll.

Trolls only purr in the presence of those they feel the utmost comfort with. To feel the safest with, to trust them the most, and to be at your most vulnerable with. It's super intimate stuff in troll culture. Hearing that anywhere out in public could make trolls snap their head in that direction and make them flush in the face. Get a room!!

I imagine it was one of those many days where they stayed over at his hive. They had just decided that they were done playing video games and it from leaning against each other in silence while the game systems powered off, then it transitioned into Mspar coaxing Mallek to lay on then while they had their back laid down on his lounge plank. His weight against them was comforting to them.

They were just nuzzling his shoulder and rubbing their hands all up and down his back and sides, all with no patterns to it. He had his face pressed against their chest, his arms pushed underneath them to wrap around them. They could feel his smile against their skin, and they were all smiles and happy, too. Then they, well, they felt it before they heard it.

It was something they didn't even notice at first, the rumbling, the small vibrations emitting from his throat and chest. When it was growing stronger and the purring became audible, they still didn't question it at first. They were just so comfortable, and the cuddling was just so nice, his purring could put them to sleep and...wait. Purring?

When the realization of Mallek purring hit them, they temporarily halted their hand movements. Mallek stayed put for a bit before his purring stuttered a little, and he cracked an eyelid open to gaze at them, wondering why they stopped. He finds them kind of staring at him, their hands still under his tank top just stopped on his back.

"you okay;"

This snaps them out of it and they and they lean in to kiss his forehead, Mallek snorts in response and immediately relaxes against them again.

They kindaaa wanted to point it out at in the moment but ultimately decided against it so that he didn't get embarrassed or shy and stops. They think it's SUPER fucking cute.

As for general differences between troll and human romance? Cracks fingers. Obviously it depends on what quadrant a troll is interested in having you in. I'll go with red romance for now unless someone later wants the other quads too lol.

I talked about purring before and purring is a BIG one. Purring is how trolls communicate that they feel absolutely safe and comfortable in their partners presence along with purring being a form to heal when their partner is hurt or isn't feeling well. It leaves them very open and vulnerable and so it feels very intimate for most trolls. A troll purring in the presence of human they're interested in a human may not pick up the significance of it so they just see it at its simplest until explained. Some trolls may feel a little hurt when their human partners don't pick up on their purring and they don't purr back in response, again, until explained that humans aren't capable of making sounds such as purring. Make no mistake though! Troll purring does not sound like how a cat's would. It's sounds like how you would imagine an insect purring would sound like.

Sleeping in the presence of a person you're interested in or around your partner is another big thing trolls do. Sleeping near other trolls is again, a vulnerability thing. To sleep near someone? To be so open and let your guard down like that? To trust someone that much? Wipes sweat from brow. Humans being able to do this with trolls they're even a little comfortable with is absolutely flabbergasting to most trolls.

Okay there's sleeping when someone is nearby...then there's sleeping WITH someone. No not like that ya nasties. Sleeping with someone, in their recuperacoon, it's a vulnerability thing again woo boy. It's the HIGHEST form of trust a troll could show their partner! The significance of this can really go over a human's head, they truly don't understand the gravity of trust at play here.

Here's something not sleep related. Scent marking. This one is more subtle than just. A partner wearing their sign or typing the way their typing quirk is. This one is when a troll leaves something, take a shirt or their socks or something, at their partners hive. It leaves a bit of them, their scent, there and it's meant for their partners + any other trolls that are over know. Humans tend to also seek their partner's scent/how they smell (think stealing your partners clothes), it's another thing that means more deeply than they originally think about.

It was an area where almost nothing used to happen, something that was calm and quiet. Y/N's routine in the shop was simple: watch, check and listen to a few cretins yell about how expensive repairs were business. Y/N didn't expect anything out of the ordinary as if anything different would stand out about the place...but it wasn't.

It was always the same old routine, until one night a few nights ago he was seeing something different. Y/N got out of his car to see what it was, it was a bright blue trail. Something in his instinct said that it was something of fuel, it wouldn't be the first time he found something like that, in his town. But Y/N out of curiosity decided to follow it, not without going with a wrench in hand just to make sure. The trail led deep into the forest, so he also decided to take a flashlight so that it would not take him by surprise.

It was night with a full moon at least it also helped to have some more illumination between the shadows that was difficult to see at least the trail shone brighter than it should. "Maybe it was a new lubricant?" thought Y/N as he stepped carefully as he was coming to a drop.

He was going carefully to see that the trail left larger patches all the way to a meadow cleared of trees. Something about you, said nothing was right something was going on. Until Y/N I saw a huge being leaning on a rock and seeing the whole trail was going towards him.

Y/N tried not to make noise but saw that the giant being was not moving. "Maybe it's asleep?

Before he gave Y/N time to react he saw that the giant being was starting to move again. Y/N tried to hide behind some nearby trees. Seeing now more clearly that the giant being was a robot. "Is it Japanese? Or from the army?" thought Y/N as I saw that the robot was complaining.

-Scrap planet! on Cybertron I'd find something to repair me with.... I look like a scavenger... - complained the robot.

Y/N felt he shouldn't be listening to this. "Cybetron? Is it an alien or something? Look I think this must be some kind of dream" thought Y/N as he pulled his cheeks.

She felt the pain clearly, it wasn't a dream. For safety, she decided to go carefully but stepped on a branch she shouldn't have causing that robot to alert and scream for a moment as it pointed to where Y/N was.

-Who's there?

"Shit! I have to get out of here" thought Y/N but it was too late to run away a giant servo with sharp digits had cornered him before he could react.

Starscream smiled a little - Humans always curious... It took you to be in my servos - said Starscream while he was going to touch him with one of his digits but Y/N attacked with his wrench making Starscream let go and fall to the ground in pain.

-Don't you dare to come closer or I will use the wrench again," said Y/N trying to get into a defensive position.

Starscream took the wrench away with his servo while he looked at him with an annoyed expression.

-Did you think something so small would affect me? You human fool, argh! -shouted Starscream as Y/N saw the blue energy trail flow further. Y/N tried to breathe calmly so that fear would not invade his mind. Starscream didn't pay attention to the human but he needed to stop his wound.

-Human, are you a mechanic? - asked Starscream

- Yes... - said Y/N keeping his nerves

- I'll tell you what, I'll repair the wound on my leg and I'll let you live. If you don't, well, I will try to make your death slow and painful - said Starscream while pointing his digit at him.

-How do I know you won't kill me after I 'repair' you? -said Y/N while he felt the digit on his neck.

- You don't have many options... Do it," said Starscream threateningly.

Y/N nodded as he led him to his car to get out his toolbox.

-I would need some metsl plate to be able to stop the leak - said Y/N.

Starscream removed a part of Y/N's car hood making him angry.

-Hey I'm still paying for it! - said Y/N as Starscream signaled him to start working.

Y/N had some difficulty in getting that part the way he wanted it, getting it the way he wanted it. Starscream kept watching to see that the human didn't make any sudden movements.

-Despite being so small, I admit your skills are to be admired, human.

-Y/N, is what I call myself....

Starscream remained silent while he watched you carefully seal the leak, I saw that he started to use the Blowtorch.

- This might hurt a little bit," said Y/N holding the blowtorch carefully.

- No funny moves - said Starscream to make sure there was no problem aiming his blaster.

Y/N was getting more and more nervous, he was cautious so the robot wouldn't go after him. Once the metal was welded he waited until it cooled down to see that the leak had stopped.

The giant robot smiled and sighed calmly.

- Thanks to Primus it has stopped. I'll spare your life for this - said Starscream while Y/N sighed but he was still not calm.

- Well I have fulfilled my part of the deal, now I can go back home. And I won't say anything about you - said Y/N.

Starscream began to hear a chuckle as the bot servo brought him back up. A wicked grin, he began to caress your head with his digit, making Y/N feel shivers.

- I told you I'd let you live, not that I was going to let you go so soon.

Y/N started to resist him but couldn't, when he heard some noises and started to transform into a jet.

- Be a good boy and settle in. I'm attracted to you... maybe I'll make you my pet.

Y/N tried to resist but saw that belts had been tied around him.

- You lied to me! - Y/N while but it was useless, Y/N had already fallen into Starscream's nets.

If the autobots had their human pets, why not him? Besides, it would be quite useful for him.

Y/N saw that he was flying away not knowing if he would ever be able to return home.

Now that routine and tranquility, he was going to miss it and obey his new master.

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 6. Machine

Day 6. Machine Crossover: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (and later series) "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We got some work to do now. Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We need some help from you now." I cannot wait for the scene when they take Sammy's mask off :3 I'd watch an episode like that. Btw. in case anyone is wondering, Shaggy checks whether bacon soups are 20 or 50 years after expired, because it depends on whether he decides to heat them before eating or not :D

Am I a fan of Scooby-Doo? Well... yes and no. As a little kid, I loved the show, I even had VHS tapes of the episodes... But then my lil brother got hooked on it and watched it so obsessively that I hated the whole show (especially since his favourite was that damn Scrapy-Doo, so he was tormenting me episodes with him, and Scooby-Doom, the other son of the b*ch, which I hate). However, I still enjoyed the full-length movies, and to this day I still enjoy watching some of them (for example: "Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" or "Scooby-Doo! in Where's My Mummy?..." by the way, the former was made in the year of my birth, so he's older than me, yay!) But then came the era of weird Scooby-Doo series that delighted me again and stole my heart, like "Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!", "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" or crazy one  "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!" (I love self-ironical, self-parodying shows). So... yeah, I guess I'm a Scooby Doo fan now. What's more, I will now say something that will probably make some people hate me: I like the "scandalous" show "Velma". Uuuu! Everyone will stop following me now, what a drama.

I have to admit that I had fun - although it was probably one of the most difficult Ink Demonths so far (counting the future ones I've already drawn). Scooby-Doo is damn hard to draw, because he has very caricatured features while having quite a dog's build, and when broken down into simple shapes, he's... just plain ugly to draw. Shaggy was a bit of a challenge, but it was a real pleasure to draw Velma. By the way, these two are my favourite characters - and I ship them in their youth (in their mature life, I prefer Shaggy with that cool alien from one of the movies). I used, of course, the background from BATIM - and choosing the right one and then framing it the best took me a lot of time and frustration too. I originally wanted a setting from the first chapter, but nothing looked right with the characters on it. I finally made it to the second chapter - and I think it turned out really nice. However, I am extremely proud of how cans turned out, the expiration date of which is checked by Shaggy.

If anyone doesn't understand why this entry is for "machine" theme, let me remind you that the Gang drove a cool, colourful van called... that's right! The Mystery Machine! If you didn't know that, you can't consider yourself a Scooby-Doo fan :D

“Your File” (Pt. 2)

More Elfy "photos"-- this time around, he's looking at memes and showing off his powers~

Lately I've been putting the final touches on DDT's script; filling in some of the more depressing parts that I'd skipped over before. And working on this has brought me to two realizations:

a) Leon is basically the deuteragonist in this story, especially near the end. ;) Stay tuned~

b) One thing I like most about working with characters around Elfilin's age here (those who still have parents, anyway) is that you realize that all the shallow stereotypes people place on younger characters have deeper reasons behind them that deserve to be explored more.

Like, I think of this version of him as a fairly pleasant kid. A little shy and introverted, but very loving and helpful and kind. Unfortunately, between the nightmares/psychosis and all the problems he has to deal with IRL...you almost never see those aspects of his personality in the actual story. ^^;; He's usually either nervous or annoyed, and a little touchy when he's particularly stressed.

On the outside it just looks like "typical teen behavior" (which is probably how his parents choose to rationalize it ^^; ) but from his perspective it's plain to see that he just feels isolated. He's dealing with a lot of issues that, as far as he knows, no one around him will fully understand. Or they might react in a way that he's not prepared for, or a way that he's afraid of.

And if you've ever had to live like that, even as an adult, you know it gets to you after a while. :T Having to constantly hide things and keep up appearances is stressful, and it doesn't leave you much space to just feel your own feelings. So naturally, your emotions get bottled up, your temper gets shorter, and you may start to feel resentful towards certain people or situations, even if they don't "deserve" it.

So, y'know, imagine dealing with that when you're just a kid; just starting to learn how to manage your emotions. Not only does it make the task itself 10x more difficult, there's the added risk that anyone you purposely or accidentally open up to will refuse to take you seriously, and/or feel obligated to punish you for whatever they think you've done wrong.

Conclusion: don't be too hard on "moody teenagers". Maybe they're not being psychically tormented by an alien invader, but whatever they're going through is probably just as tough. ^^;

"And I'm Y/n Colin..." she said, smiling slightly as she lowered her head and Ben looked at her, in which his look told her to say the other surname. "...Barnes. Y/n Colin Barnes" she says and points at the camera with her index finger.

"That's very good. I thought you wouldn't say our last name" Ben says as he adjusts himself in the chair.

"Nonsense" Y/n winks at the camera and smiles. "Well, today my amazing husband and I came here to answer some questions" Y/n slaps his hand on Ben's thigh and then adjusts himself in the chair too.

"Right. The producers are trying to create intrigue between us. They will give two options and we will have to choose just one" The actor says while explaining to the camera.

"Without much ado, send the first one" Y/n says while rubbing his hands on his pants in euphoria.

Ben looks at her and smiles.

"Okay, the options are for Y/n." The producer says, behind the camera.

"Just do a survey here" Y/n points to the camera. "The options here were some fans who chose, so in short. We're screwed" Y/n looks at the producer again.

"I don't think so, they love our relationship" Ben says and Y/n quickly turns her head to the side to see her husband. "They practically date our marriage," he shrugs.

Y/n laughs out loud.

"Really. They're always telling us to join in" Y/n laughs.

"Okay Y/n, the options are. Would you rather never eat your favorite food again or eat it forever?"

Y/n snorts and smiles.

"They're good" Y/n says to her husband and the producer laughs.

"I didn't like that laugh" Ben says ironically. He knew that much worse would come.

"As my favorite food is (your favorite food) and it has a lot of variety, I think it wouldn't be a problem to eat only it for the rest of my life" Y/n says and he nods.

"Ben. Would you rather never see your mother again or never be able to act again?"

Ben's eyes widen, but the answer is obvious.

"As obvious as this answer is, it hurt my heart." He holds his chest and pretends to be annoyed. "I'd rather never act again. I love my mother too much to do something crazy like that"

Y/n smiles looking at her husband.

"Mother-in-law, I love you" Y/n looks at the camera and sends a heart.

"Wow" Y/n sighs thinking about the answer. "I think a zombie apocalypse. My second degree is in The Walking Dead" she says and Ben laughs at the last sentence.

"Horrible" he exclaims, still laughing.

Y/n looks at him indignantly.

"Keep to yourself, darling" Y/n says the nickname in Portuguese while lightly patting his arm. Making him smile at the nickname.

"Ben. Would you rather get back with your ex or never kiss Y/n again?"

Y/n opens his mouth in the shape of an O and laughs, waiting for the answer. As Ben opened his eyes wider and wider.

"I said too soon that this was being calm" Y/n says patting his legs. "Say it my beloved Darkling" she says smiling and leaning towards Ben to listen carefully to the answer.

He sighs deeply and runs his hands through his hair.

"Never kiss Y/n again. I couldn't be with anyone else, she is the love of my life and always will be" he says romantically and Y/n melts. All her spirit of an attacked child leaves her body, she just wanted to cry with joy.

As much as Ben always told her that.

"There, you messed me up here" Y/n says, sliding down in the chair and Ben leans down to kiss the top of her head.

"7 years together and you never got used to it. Silly" he says to the camera and Y/n smiles, adjusting himself in the chair.

"But hey, you could get back together with your ex." Ben raises his eyebrows and frowns. "For those who don't know, Ben and I have already separated once. What was it?? A little before we had been dating for 3 years, right?" She turns to him and he sighs in relief.

"Ah yes. True" he agrees to the camera. "Terrible days when I was away from her"

Y/n rolls her eyes playfully and smiles.

"Let's go back, I'm getting old already" she comments and her husband laughs.

"Y/n. Having a job that allows you to have a great salary or a job that allows you to visit any country in the world?"

Y/n raises his shoulders and then lets go.

"Modesty aside. I have both" she says, but ends up laughing. "Just kidding guys. But the first option" she smiles.

"Ben, your last question."

“Amen” he sighs.

Y/n laughs.

"About your work. Would you rather be cast as Sirius Black in a possible Marauders series or play the character you always wanted?"

“I knew something like this would come,” he laughs.

"There always is" Y/n smiles amusedly, as she looks away from her lap to her husband's face.

"I really prefer the first option. Since he's a character I've always wanted to play, if Warber Bros. makes a Marauders series." He says a little shyly.

"Really?" Y/n smiles with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Yes" he nods happily, as he looks at his wife.

"Okay, I'll figure it out. Even if I organize this series alone" She smiles victoriously and leans back in the chair.

Y/n graduated in cinema, and has already participated in the direction of several series and films from major producers. Maybe this isn't so far off from the plans she just had in mind.

"Right. Y/n. Last options" the producer says. "Would you rather never see Ben again in your life or cheat on him for 2 million dollars with Johnny Depp?"

"How crazy is this??" Ben looks at the production and the rest laugh. "Fan or hater who asked this question?"

Y/n laughs in his chair.

"That's a hilarious question." She laughs more and quickly composes herself. "But seriously, this is complicated"

"Go talk!!" Ben says looking at her, with a crooked smile on his face and deep eyes into theirs.

"Oh, I'll talk" Y/n turns her body towards him. "But I'm going to give my explanation, don't interrupt" the woman explains with her hands and Ben smiles. He loved her Italian features.

"Okay" he says nodding and smiling.

They both knew that the answer that would come was nothing they could actually do. They both loved each other too much to do that, Y/n would rather die than betray him and vice versa.

"I would choose the second option..."

"Heavens Y/n" Ben says in an indignant tone, but holding back from laughing. "The guy is old enough to be your grandfather."

"BENJAMIN!!" She says loudly and lets out a laugh. "First I said don't interrupt me and second we have an age difference of 25 years, don't be silly. It could only be my father..." She stops and thinks a little and Ben laughs. "But that's not the case, because I would never cheat on you" Ben nods, his eyes still glued to his wife. "But look, we could make a plan. They would give me this option, we agreed off the record that I would "cheat" on you" she makes a sign with her hand that I would cheat "I would pretend to kiss him and we would come out rich with 1 million dollars. Amazing plan, don't you think??!!"

Ben laugh.

"Yes honey, amazing plan" he looks at her again. The passionate look never disappearing.

Y/nn approaches him and whispers close to his ear, his breath sending shivers through Ben's body.

"You know I would never cheat on you, right??" She places a kiss next to his ear and Ben smiles at the act.

"I know, honey" he whispers again and lets me quickly kiss the woman's cheek. "I love you" he says before leaning back in the chair and they both finish the video.

Author: I remember that when I posted this imagine for my Brazilian readers, I said that this idea came to me when I was taking a shower. This sounds crazy, I know!! But it was one of the imagines that I enjoyed writing the most.

I'm finally launching the new video project to wish Chris Colfer a 🎂Happy Birthday🎂 from all of us! The title will be "How you make a difference"

For those new to this, I've been organising videos for his birthday for TEN years now 😱 I try to get together as many people as possible, I choose a theme -something about Chris obviously, ask people to send a pic or video and then I edit everything together! What I love the most, and hopefully he likes too, is putting together messages from his fans from all countries and ages, all brought together by love and appreciation of him.

This year's theme will be "how you made a difference" + ..aliens 😜 to support his new book! Hope you'll participate!

could you talk a little bit about why the kids are so estranged from Caroline? I never quite got the full extent of their relationship. I get that she was absent and emotionally unavailable, but what makes her a worse option for the kids when compared to Logan of all people?

i do think the absence is a part of it. imo caroline wants her children to love her and choose her, but i don't think she knows what to do with them when faced with the reality of being their mother. you can see it in return; she wants them there, and then when she gets them, she leaves. and it's implied a few times that this is a pattern ("spotty mother", "the family way" etc.), so i imagine that after a while the shtick gets old. particularly when you compare it to how the kids see logan as more or less omniscient.

but really, i think the biggest part of it is the logan roy of it all. there's this harriet walter interview where she talks about people looking at caroline and seeing her as a perpetrator, rather than stopping to consider what it might've been like as a woman trying to hold her own in a marriage with logan. and i do think that's true. like, logan wields so much power within the family dynamic and after what seems to have been an incredibly messy divorce, the estrangement doesn't surprise me. i don't think it matters if caroline is better or worse than logan, because ultimately the kids don't get to choose. they're stuck in the middle of their parents' mind games. sarah says in a post s3 interview that shiv in the last two eps is coming to the realisation that logan got to keep them not because he loved them more, or because he was a better parent, but because he wanted the win. they didn't matter, but making sure caroline lost did, etc. and again, i think that's true. if logan wanted to let his children go, i'm sure caroline would have got them in a heartbeat. but he clearly likes them close, and more than that, i'd say that he actively fueled the rift between the kids and caroline to, like. prolong the win, i guess? i mean, i don't think caroline just gave up after logan got custody. there are several instances that hint to her trying to keep up a relationship ("i moved back to bloody new york so i could see you, and i never fucking saw you!", the christmas "that was several times" discussion in return, the morocco kidnapping bit from the scripts, etc.) and i can 100% see logan wielding his power over his kids to ensure that they choose him, over and over again, regardless of how awful he treats them.

i also think there are different things that affect each individual relationship. we joke a lot about how caroline doesn't care about ken, but with kendall, i think he's just always been logan's. he's the chosen one, claimed and tainted and alienated from birth. i don't think caroline ever even tried with him.

with roman, i actually don't think they're estranged. at the very least, it's not like it is with ken and shiv. i'd even say that in a lot of ways, roman is caroline's first "win" in her marriage. second born spare, free for her to claim and all that, you know? it's a moot point eventually because logan sinks his claws in the same way he does with all his children, but i dont think roman ever stops being mummy's little boy. he's so forgiving of his parents and so willing to accept the scraps of affection that shiv and ken decline, it's no wonder that they appear to have the most contact. i've said this before but where his siblings resent caroline for leaving, i imagine roman was just happy whenever she came back. she doesn't have to try too hard with him and it allows them a certain conviviality that doesn't exist elsewhere in the family dynamic.

with shiv and caroline... where do you even start lmao. i think caroline sees shiv as logan's similarly to how she sees kendall as logan's, but while it's pretty much whatever with ken, with shiv she considers it a betrayal (think of return's "a bit of solidarity. twenty years too late, but never mind."). the choice might've been taken from shiv as a child, but it's no wonder she prefers to be estranged as an adult. when it comes to caroline and her kids, she and shiv have the deepest and most complicated relationship; there's this unique hurt and unique understanding between them and it's why their relationship is also the most vicious, which is to say nothing on how logan's influence has seeped into the crevices of it. frankly i think shiv just doesn't want to have to deal with it.

okay let's talk about queerness in this book

did a thread on twitter in which I said "cishet" five hundred thousand times so will probably get banned lmao but anyway I wanted to share it here too

especially since it's late in Pride Month and I have yet to post anything anywhere about it BEING Pride Month and me being queer and my books being queer, bc I've been burnt out af. so what energy I've had has gone toward planning and writing

anyway

I say "queerness in" rather than "queer characters in" because I want to talk about queerness in the book more broadly, not least bc I'm a queer creator & this is a queer book, but I've had a lot of impostor syndrome about both those things.

I figured out I was queer later in life & am a woman-presenting person w/a male-presenting partner. I've questioned my gender & sexuality repeatedly & ID'd differently over time, which is why I like "queer." I don't have to re-explain myself a dozen times. I'm queer. that's that.

but having figured out my queerness later, and having a relationship that presents as cishet, it took a long time for me to overcome feelings of ~not being queer enough~ (and sometimes I still struggle with them).

similarly, my MC is an apparently* cishet woman, unlike the MCs of many books that appear on queer book lists at this time of year. just like I took a long time to start really engaging with my community bc I worried I wasn't ~queer enough,~ for a long time, I didn't call this a queer book bc I worried it wasn't ~queer enough~. if people asked if the book was queer, I'd reply with a laundry list of explicitly queer characters rather than saying yes

fuck that though lmao. this is a queer book. let me count the ways

1. found family

as found family is so important to many queer people - by connecting us to our community, by welcoming us when bio family casts us off - found family is central to REMARKABLE RETIREMENT. while there are queer romantic arcs, the found family is the most important relationship in the book.

2. queer labels

some characters get explicit labels. Benjamin is gay. Clem is ace. queer labels are important bc they give us the ability to describe our identities and experiences! however...

3. undefined queerness

while labels are important, queerness isn't about fitting into new boxes. it's about smashing the boxes apart.

even if characters don't have specific labels applied on-page, they're queer. they don't need to claim a specific label for that to be true.*

*caveat that some media avoids using labels to pander to queer audiences w/implied queerness without ~alienating~ cishets by stating "this character is Not Cishet"**

that's not what I mean

I mean e.g. in OFMD queerness is inherent even if WORDS like queer/ace/etc aren't used. OMitB is another example (specifically Mabel) and Good Omens is yet another.

**caveat to my caveat that some media is queer-coded & avoids queer labels rather than being explicitly queer because network execs or whoever won't allow explicit queerness.

this is not the fault of the creators. sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference.

but anyway.

in REMARKABLE RETIREMENT, several queer characters are queer without using specific labels.

in some cases this is bc it doesn't come up or isn't important to them to express in the moment. like Clem is bi, but she's not worried about being bi. she's worried about being ace, because she's still kind of questioning that about herself, and she's worried it might cause problems down the road if her crush is >:[ about her not wanting to have sex. so she uses the word "ace" to describe herself in this scene but not "bi," even though she's both.

in other cases it's bc they don't have the language. Kiernan's sense of attraction and desire is described in a way that seems graysexual or demisexual (or both), and Red's sense of desire is described in a way that seems ace-spec, but neither of them use those terms, because neither of them know those terms. despite the lack of terminology, many ace readers have identified multiple ace characters based on description or experience. the lack of a specific label doesn't make those characters less queer.

similarly, some characters have not yet had this realization about themselves. which leads us to...

4. questioning

okay, back to my first asterisk of the post.

Edna is by all appearances an old cishet woman.

for most of the story, that's how she seems. that's what SHE thinks, even. she's a cishet old grandma adopting every queer young person she can find.

BUT THEN

Clem explains aceness to her

and Edna has a brief crisis bc wait a minute this sounds like her??

ultimately, Edna has too much to worry about right now to spend time questioning whether, at the age of 83, she might be somewhere on the ace spectrum

so it doesn't come up again

but that moment of crisis is THERE, & that too is queer

5. queernormativity*

I write queernorm worlds, largely bc I viscerally hate coming out lmao

it doesn't mean everyone's a queer scholar

like Clem has to explain "ace" to Edna, bc Edna thinks blankly of a deck of cards & doesn't understand what that has to do with sex

but it DOES mean queer folks get to just be and do

*caveat that this is not remotely to imply that a story is less queer if its world ISN'T queernorm

it's just a way in which MY story is queer

6. all the queer characters

not gonna do a list (even though my original idea for Pride Month when I was young and optimistic and thought I'd have energy to do it way back when was a list of queer characters), but virtually every character in this book is queer in one way or another

on twitter this is where I ended because 6 seemed like a good number for Pride since June is the sixth month, but tumblr gets a bonus

Alright so it's no secret that I'm actually a fan of Misako and view her as a complex character that suffers from terrible writing and misogyny both in the fandom and in the team that works on NinjaGo. The love triangle between her, Wu, and Garmadon is a whole MESS -

That being said, I don't mind either Wusako or Garmasako as a ship. I think both have interesting aspects and can be done really well if they're handled correctly. The drama of being torn between two brothers, who are the physical embodiments of Creation and Destruction??? I'd pay to watch that spin off, not gonna lie.

On the one hand, you have Garmadon. Cursed since childhood to turn evil. Alienated by his father because of his curse, Garmadon makes an effort to overcome the evil in his veins whilst embracing the heritage of his element. He fights for NinjaGo's peace and safety, even if he knows that in due time, he may come to threaten it himself. All of this, and he falls for this beautiful, intelligent woman. Who chooses to keep him in her life regardless of his doomed fate. He loves her, and he would do anything for her.

Then there's Wu. The second son. Not the heir, but responsible for his downfall regardless. He's forced to watch as his beloved older brother gets shunned by their father for something he truly cannot help. Has to deal with favoritism, and how it affects the person he's closest to. He tries to branch out, to do good for his realm, to teach and take in those that need him. He brings up a son, a reckless little boy with power over the wind, and thinks he can give him a better future, only to ruin that too. Then his brother introduces him to a beautiful girl, whose intelligence rivals his own. She can outmatch his Spinjitzu, and she got a mind of her own.

Neither brother knows that they both admire her. She's torn between them both.

I think Misako's mindset is genuine in the sense that she loves and cares for both brothers. She's torn between two halves of the balance, loyal to the path of good, but drawn regardless to destruction and darkness. I think she chose Garmadon because he made the first move (not really, that was Wu but Garmadon stole his thunder), and it took the pressure off of her shoulders to choose for herself.

That being said - when Garmadon is banished, and she has to give up her son to keep her family safe from the prophecy of the Green Ninja, I think she loses hope. Not her feelings, but the hope that one day Garmadon will come home, and they can have their family again. That's why she starts to lean towards Wu when they're reunited. Old feelings rise up so fast, and she's helpless to her heart's desires.

Then Garmadon comes back, and she doesn't have to choose again. She can have her family, and that doesn't erase her torn feelings, but it settles them. For now.

Until she learns that the very reason she chose Garmadon, despite his evil and his inevitable fate, was a lie. That if Garmadon hadn't been who he was, she would have chosen his brother.

Misako realizes she has to make the choice for herself now. Because waiting for someone to step forward hurt her - hurt the elements she came to love - hurt her son. It tore her family apart, and drove a stake between the brothers. She never wanted them to fight over her, so she finally makes her choice - to refuse to choose.

TL;Dr: ... I feel a lot of things lol
