How do I refer to you? Actually, i don't get this question a lot, and I shouldn't, since this info is both in my pinned above and in my bio. But a lot of people still seem awful confused. I am male. FTM. I use He/Him pronouns and masculine terms with the exception of compliments like 'pretty' and all that. I am not nonbinary, and do not like to be referred to gender neutrally. What style are you wearing/where do you get your clothes? I started by wearing my personal version of the japanese fashion subculture Decora Kei. My decora became a bit messy and grungy, and while i do still identify as a decora boy and wear full coords from time to time, i consider myself now someone who enjoys colorful fashion and takes influence from 90s harajuku fashion, punk subcultures, drag and other campy fashion. I shop a variety of places, but a lot of my stuff is from Kei Collective or Candy Trap.

What is Twee/Do you Make Music? Twee is a music genre I developed a special interest in a few years back. It's a style of indie pop that originated after the UK rise of the famous c86 compilation tape in the late eighties, and was developed with a focus on low-fidelity, diy sound combined with upbeat, bubblegum-y pop sentiments and a naive, childlike outlook. It's both cute and somewhat rough around the edges. I do not make music, and don’t hold any musical skill. I’m just a major fan.

Do you take commissions? you may direct all art related questions to my art blog inbox, but for the time being, please just dm me for commission info. analysis of NRCs fashion as a fashion student (1)

hello!! if your new here m amari and im a big fashion enthusiast especially with historical garments, im working on my schools fashion show this year n ive been thinking of going into fashion and costuming after highschool. i sew alot becasue its just so fun so this is an analysis of the clothing in twst. any fashion or clothing terminology will be explained unless its something simple like a button hole or a hood or smth silly like that

*this mini series will only cover the main stories as of rn, this post will be broken up into multiple chunks for each respective dorm*

Ceremonial Robes-

so the ceremonial robes are all the same the only thing that changes between dorms is the color of the gem due to each dorm having their own color, other than that the ceremonial robes are all the same apart from malleus who has a cut out for his horns. (as seen below) although i have yet to see any official posts of what exactly is going on with these robes i have found some nice fan posts that i will be using and linking in this post because theres a lot going on in these designs.

the base outfit of the cerimonial robes is a longer button down robe with mandarin collar, a shorter over robe and black pants and heels. the longer robe has a gold embroidering as shown below. NRC is a prestigious school so it makes more scenes to have these robes be embroidered than have that gold detail be something printed on it adds to the fact that this is an elite school and this is a very important cerimony, alot of these kids are rich and talented mages and theirs a reputation to uphold.

the robe warn over the longer robes is lined with the same purple and gold key pattern fabric as the longer robes, the hoods have a gold embroidery on the top as well as a gold colored bias tape edge, the embroidery on the top of the hood is the same on the sleaves, malleus has a slightly edited hood embroidery due to his horns (better seen above) the bottom of the outer vest has more gold embroidery. the sleaves of the outer robe are whats giving me a headace as they look like angel sleeves but angel seams have a extra seam that the cerimonial robes dont have

angle sleeves vs the ceremonial robe sleeves (see the lack of a seam around where the elbow would be)

the long robe has long sleeves with a little bit that goes around the middle finger the long robe has a clearer view of the NRC key pattern thats seen on the hood aswell, i had a better picture but sadly lost it

the pants are just plain black pants that end a little bit above what i think would be the ankle (i never took an anatomy class cut me some slack) but what i find interesting is that most depictions show the ceremonial robes shoes as being some kind of heeled loafer i actually believe they are some sort of boot instead as we never see where the shoe ends and the socks stop with we normally see so i believe them so be some sort of boot that the pants cover, ruggie is often depicted in some heeled boot because if we take a good look at his shoes we see they are ill fitting and are probably a hand me down but seeing how standardized the ceremonial robes are it wouldnt make scene for him to have diffrent shoes so i suspect they all have boots

riddle also has the little loose bit but its more apparent in ruggies witch is why i believe the shoes are boots instead of the commonly depicted heels

I might be stating the obvious, but since the game themes are about desires, i think that the costumes, expecially in the phantom idols' case, are a manifestations of what they want instead of their rebelion. Okyann misses when she was a fashion icon, Rin misses her culture, Mont misses being an ice skater champion. The new girl (dont remember the name) wants to be a nurse, Reo wants to be an actor. Riddle probabily wants to be a detective when she grows up instead of a model, Puppet a marine biologist etc etc. But in some cases it can be a bit confusing. Im not sure what Seji or Seppia's costume could be. maybe Seiji its a butler because he wants to serve instead of being served? Seppia's homeless so maybe he wants to have a lavish life? Idk im just rambling rn

Honestly, I think it's really just a mix of both. Okyann might miss being a gyaru, but you could easily also tie it to her sense rebellion- besides herself mentioning in her Confidant that she tends to do things her own way, the gyaru subculture was born from a rebellion against "Japanese social and aesthetic standards" (quoted from Wikipedia). So there's an inherent aspect of rebellion to dressing like a gyaru. It might be that her strongest point of rebellion was just in the past, so her outfit reflects her gyaru days, as that's rebellion to her.

Similarly, with Rin- sure, she misses her culture I'm sure, but you could also consider it part of her rebellion against society that she's sticking to her overtly Chinese culture rather than, you know, moving to Japan for school and then conforming to Japanese society wholeheartedly. Holding onto that is her rebellion.

Leon and Marian (that's the nurse girl) both have something they're aspiring to be, despite other forces (Leon's parents, Marian's sense of responsibility to her family's store) pushing them to do something else. Probably Puppet, too, since she ran away from home, so I bet she wanted to be something (presumably related to the ocean) other than what her parents wanted her to be. Being these things in their Metaverse outfits is their rebellion.

I'll admit Riddle, Mont, Fleuret, and Sepia are a little trickier, but in large part because I have less to go on about them at the moment. Riddle's been set up by her video as kind of a smart kid for her age, and her outfit seems to be some kind of miner/inventor, so it might be her using her intelligence + curiosity to do things that adults think she can't? Mont's rebellion could be that she wants to keep skating despite the injury that stopped her, or, you're right, it could just be her desire to go back to when she could skate. Fleuret reminds me of a revolutionary, around the era of the Revolutionary War and the French Revolution, which has inherent ties to rebellion, but I don't know enough about him in the real world to speculate exactly what it means to him. Same with Sepia, except I'm not entirely sure what his outfit is to begin with, hah.

All that to say, I think there's just a strong correlation here between rebellion and desires, haha! To be clear, I don't think you're wrong, I think it's just typically a mix of both here.
