I vented a bit about this on Bluesky, but the rampant use of AI covers, as well as the encouragement to use it in the forums, is my biggest hang up with ScribbleHub.

Generally speaking, if I see a book for sale with AI cover art, I don't read/buy it.

On ScribbleHub, so many books have AI covers, it's hard to put that into practice if I want to be a social and active reader (i.e. your own stories get more readers and comments if you yourself comment).

I guess I'm just conflicted bc I am reading things on ScribbleHub with GenAI covers and feel hypocritical. Xd

just thinking about taking the train home after a late-night mission with xavier.

you’re exhausted and snuggled into his chest, drifting in and out of sleep as the stations sweep past. a few stops from your apartment, you shift, blinking blearily up at xavier. you register your head on his warm chest and his arms cradling you against him.

“xav?” your voice is soft and slightly hoarse with sleep.

“hm?”

his hair falls in front of his eyes as they look towards you. you reach out to brush the pieces aside to see them more clearly — soft and bright, like the stars that are no doubt well and truly out.

“aren’t you tired too?” you murmur around a yawn.

xavier smiles and gives a small shake of his head. “i will never tire of protecting you.”

“xav…” you press your face against his chest, hiding the smile with a quiet faux groan. partly because it’s cheesy, but mostly because you know he means every syllable.

you don’t see, but he smiles at your response and brings a hand up to stroke your hair gently.

“go back to sleep, angel. i’ll wake you when we’re home.”

in truth, you are already halfway there, but his permission is the nudge you need to be lulled back into slumber.

you accept his offer and show your gratitude with a rub of your nose against his chest, and a small kiss to the clothed skin, before you find rest — as you always do — in xavier’s arms.

“sweet dreams, my star.”
