OFMD fandom, say it with me please:
Removing a body part from someone as ‘punishment’ is Not A Good Thing To Do. It is ableist to insist otherwise. Disability, and yes, a missing appendage is a disability, is not a punishment and it is not something people ‘deserve’ for ‘bad behavior’.
Forced autocannibalism is also Not A Good Thing To Do. Genuinely cannot believe this has to be said.
Someone you trust coming into your room while you sleep, cutting off one of your body parts, and forcing you to eat said body part is, in fact, a traumatic event. I promise you the narrative is not on your side if you think otherwise.

The Mirror Test
Continuing in our scientific endeavors of studying the behavior of Pokemon when exposed to the novelties of the human world, we consider the humble mirror. An object of vanity, a polished surface for us to examine ourselves, and sometimes a gate to the Distortion World, if you believe in such things. Plop your Pokemon in front of their own reflection and see how they react!
-----
Subject: Vivi the Sylveon
Result: Took an alert stance and glared at reflection, as if ready to fight. Attempted to touch feeler to reflection, hissed at polished steel surface, and ran off.
-----
Subject: Aka the Zoroark
Result: Checked teeth and combed through mane with claws. Minor grooming. Tested illusory disguises of other team members for accuracy and nodded at tester, satisfied.
-----
Subject: Kati the Gengar
Result: Grinned at reflection and dived into surface of mirror, presence and "image" of subject remained even though was no longer in front of mirror, tester deemed mirror "very haunted." Subject approved and waddled off edge of mirror, vanishing completely.
-----
Subject: Jeanne the Corviknight.
Result: Pecked at mirror curiously and with increasing force until tester deemed it necessary to remove subject from bathroom. Was cramped in there with her anyway.
-----
Subject: Strider the Dusk-Lycanroc
Result: Visible shock and curiosity at reflection. Sniffed mirror. Growled at it briefly. Recognized it was self and started panting and wagging tail before moving on.
He's such a good boy.
-----
Subject: Davy the Kirlia
Result: Subject already quite acquainted with the idea of his own reflection and simply looked at self briefly before adjusting hair, smiling at tester, and moving on.
-----
Subject: Ren the Human.
Result: Looking cool as always, fam. Made fingerguns at reflection and moved on.

Also just general FYI: I'm gonna keep reblogging bookclub posts but I probably won't really be interacting like I normally do--it's absolutely nothing against anyone participating, and I love how insightful and amazing everyone is. But the spoons are gone and the grief is overwhelming.

Me in the future: the winner of ESC 2023? That was Käärijä for Finland, wasn't it? Yeah his performance was so good, he deserved that win. I still listen to Cha Cha Cha, it's such a bop!!

I love how you write yuu, you make absolute menace to society
So I’m just going to start off with: I’m so so so soooooo sorry I’m just now answering this 7 months later. I kinda fell off the face of the earth there for a very hot minute, so I’m legitimately just now seeing this.
Secondly: Thank you!! I’m glad someone enjoys their characterization! I think there are two ways you can write a character that doesn’t flinch in crazy scenarios like twst. There’s the Main Character way, which tends to be “too oblivious/dense to truly be intimidated/scared/surprised” which leads to its own kind of comedy.(Which Twst does very well *cough cough Hornington cough cough*)
And then there’s the Gen Z way, full of apathy and sarcasm and telling the reaper “finally” when it eventually shows its face. I like this way. This way leads to lines like “I long ago accepted I was most likely going to die by doing something stupid, and therefore I am not afraid of death”. So I like to write Yuu with a dash of Gen Z apathy.
I might also probably most definitely write Yuu like how I wish I could interact with the world if social anxiety would let me have a say for once but I digress.
Thirdly: Sorry for hijacking this very brief and succinct note in my inbox and turning it into a character expose, Yuu suddenly took up living space in my head again and I’m in an introspective mood tonight.
