The Primulas from Primula 9 sent their most impressive featured speakers, the double magenta Primulas to continue the study of humankind. Although the Double MPs, as they are called, wonder if perhaps we should be called humanunkind. All this being mean to others, shooting people, running over bicycles, hurting little kids. Primulas really do not understand earthlings much.

Framed by bright pink lotuses and a blue and gold border reminiscent of light glistening on water, this Vietwardian muse embodies the northern highlands of her homeland. She is dressed in a sheer black áo tứ thân with the neckline unfastened to reveal even more of her carmine-red áo yếm. Instead of a traditional sash, the waist of her tunic is taken in by rows of smocking worked in marigold-yellow thread. The bands of geometric embroidery in teal and carmine on her skirts and sleeves, paired with her scandalously closely-tailored trousers and silver crescent-shaped hoop earrings, echo the iconic styles of the Hmong. Her hair is wrapped in blue linen and coiled around the crown of her head. She holds a nón quai thao behind her head like a massive halo. The outside is painted teal, while the underside is gilded from edge to edge.

This is the final Vietwardian print design and the one that gave me the most trouble. I couldn’t figure out a good pose, and when I did, i couldn’t get the hands right. And then there was the hat and all those concentric-ish ellipses. And I made a silly mistake and realized much too late to fix it….you would’t even notice if I didn’t say anything. Too late now, and much too tired.

Bougainvillea glabra (lesser bougainvillea, paperflower)
Any paleobotanist will confirm that all parts of modern flowers evolved from leaves. The Bougainvillea (like the poinsettia) seems to have become stuck somewhere in this process. Its apparent petals are actually bracts, which are slightly modified leaves with the addition of bright colors.
The Bougainvillea's true flowers are tiny and inconspicuous. Considered a "perfect" flower in botanical terms, the flower contains both the male sexual structure (the stamen) and the female sexual structure (the pistil). Bougainvillea flowers are trumpet-shaped and less than 1 inch long. They typically develop in a triangularly arranged group of three flowers on a single short stem. Two of these three flowers usually open at the same time, with the third opening slightly later.
I found this lovely specimen growing in an unlikely place, in a small corner of an uptown concrete planter box. It was crammed in with five or six other types of flowering plants. Bougainvillea glabra is a climbing vine that typically grows ten feet tall and can reach thirty feet in ideal conditions. I fear that this baby plant won't be happy for long, growing in this little shoebox.

Amazing how vibrant nature can be and it's not even all the colours we can see.
Also adore the veins in this flower
