Anywaaay, back to the prompt: kisses, soft kisses, languid kisses, goodmorning kisses, goodnight kisses, good race kisses, bad race kisses AND intimacy. I don't mean smut I mean, just existing in each other presence and be content and glowing. If the prompt is s*it i do understand that please ignore the ask 🙈 Byeeeeee 💛
about local girl, because you asked 😌
thingy under the cut because it got a bit long, I hope I included everything!!! I had so much fun writing about those too 🤗🤗
mi alma: my soul
mi amor: my love
mi corazón: my heart
mi luz: my light
“Good morning, mi alma”
Waking up next to his boyfriend was the highlight of his day. Just watching the specks of dust dancing in the sunlight, slowly sitting on Lando’s eyelashes as he murmured in his sleep.
“G’morning, Carlos” A huge yawn muffled his words, but the huge smile adorning his face could never be hidden.
Carlos moved one hand to brush the other man’s hair from his face, and placed a kiss on his lips. “Come on, sleepyhead, we’re gonna be late”
“Cuddle with me first?”
Well, he couldn’t say no to those pouting lips or puppy eyes. He opened his arms and shifted, placing Lando’s head on his chest.
“You know I can’t say no to you mi luz.”
~~
“Carlos Carlos Carlos Carlos! Baby! Congratulations!” He was practically beaming while waiting for his boyfriend to step out of the Ferrari garage. “You’re starting the race in front of me tomorrow, honey!”
Carlos could barely brace himself, before Lando came sprinting towards him and jumped in his arms.
“I know, mi amor, you did amazingly today!” He wrapped his arms tighter around him. “I’m so proud of my little koala bear!”
Every other word he had to stop, when Lando was peppering his face with kisses. He put him down on his feet again, before wrapping his arms lazily around his waist and bringing their faces closer. When he kissed him, he could feel time slowing down, like the universe was allowing them to have a moment of peace before they had to return to their hectic lives.
~~
“Good night, mi corazón. I love you.”
“I love you too, baby. I can’t wait to race with you tomorrow, I’ve missed those days.”
“Me too, bae, me too.”
He placed one last kiss on Lando’s cheek before turning the lamp off and going to sleep. He really loved those small moments with him.
~~
“I can’t believe I fucked it up so majorly! The pace was there, you saw it! I could have easily been in the top 10, if I had been more careful at the start. Ugh!”
“I know it’s frustrating mi amor, but you will have your chance again, trust me. You are an amazing driver. You’re my baby future world champion is what you are.”
“I know… You’re right, it’s just… It had so much potential, you know? The pace was there.”
He sat on the bed sulking for a few moments before turning to his boyfriend. “Cuddle time, Carlos, my love?”
“Always, mi alma”
He sat down on the bed with him and ruffled his hair. He placed a soft kiss on the top of his head and turned to envelop the other man in his arms. He really had everything he wanted in the world.

Why is Shadow's character so badly handled in canon modern sonic?
... is what I would say if I didn't overthink his character. Shadow the Hedgehog is oftentimes seen as a controversial character and oftentimes his lack of a defined and concrete representation leaves different canons and ideologies of Shadow the hedgehog through fanon and canon media alike.
Now, did I gather a thesis and do I have an idea of what I am saying? No. Am I an experienced fan of the Sonic the hedgehog fandom of long-term? Also no. But I like to analyze things and look over them and even research them once I get invested. My special interests conclude of majorly taking part of video games for years now.
My past experience with Sonic the hedgehog in prior years is seeing the franchise and characters from an outsiders point of view. Not fully knowing the lore or significance of characters, having the fans ideas and content being my only sources.
And honestly, the fandom is a mess. As are many fandoms. But I'd say the Sonic fanbase is a bit special. In the early years where Shadow The Hedgehog was introduced, he was shown as a character with an appeal to early teens and Angst lovers at young ages and so the fanbase took his character for what was at face value. Dark colors? Emo. Dark. Full of hatred and lack of empathy. Hates sonic. And so on forth.
And this wasn't a joke, as far as I can see, people genuinely received his character like this. Few pointed out that in reality he was more in a grey morality scale. And then, people wanted to see more of him. He died in Sonic adventure 2 as a hero, completing his story arc.
Sega was observing the fanbase. Sega was seeing how people interpreted fans by popularity. I believe they took the fan iteration of Shadow and when they went forward in making Shadow the Hedgehog, they saw the darker and more selfish exaggerated traits in the fanon interpretation of Shadow, so they adapted it. Which of course, led to a very. Very badly written choice story.
Now, Shadow the hedgehog had POTENTIAL
a game bringing back a fan favorite? Amazing. Plot twist even. But erasing all the development and hitting the audience with the SAME idea of a flawed memory? It leads to a sour taste in your mouth of plotholes leaking everywhere.
I'll make a post later focusing more on the game Shadow The hedgehog once I force myself to look more into it to give a better in depth explanation. But for now, I will just take what I know. DO NOT. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. THIS IS MY OPINION. IF IT WERE NOT CLEAR.
Sega since then after the horrible characterization of Shadow in his own game, doomed the character of Shadow in pursuit. People realized once their fanon idea became canon, it just wasn't fun anymore. It was obvious and the matured audience who grew into the original canon Shadow were given a sore reminder of what everyone thought Shadow was. Future writers of newer games would look to Shadow the Hedgehog in order to write future sonic games including Shadow.
As fans continued being unsatisfied and complaining about his character and being split between Shadow's character in Shadow the Hedgehog versus the Sonic adventure 2 game was a prominent division including other ideas of how Shadow should be, and in all of this, Shadow soon became less and less prominent as a main.
And then. The Sega mandates.
In all truthfulness, I will continue this section in a separate post where I look more into them, but to brief it shortly, as far as I am aware, they put a certain set of guidelines to limit characters and how future writers set the characters as.
In this, they further push into the cold and distant Shadow we know today. Alongside with the aggression.
So. All this said, is his character in capability to revert to a medium? Unfortunately, fans of the original shadow will not be getting any of his older character back as far as I can see, but... there is a way to mix some of it in, meanwhile still maintaining within what sega wants Shadow to be.
Shadow has been presented to keep a calm with him in the second adventure game. Which is a trait that is seemingly erased. Shadow should have his calm attitude again. But show to be very dangerous when provoked. His overdisplayed aggression contradicts his cool demeanor he was presented with. Yes, he can be angry. But there is a difference between struggling with displaying emotions and outwardly reacting impulsively.
Speaking of impulsiveness, Shadow isn't one to be known to be impulsive. He worked with Eggman, found out about Rouge being a spy, and even planned to doublecross them all just to keep a promise he didn't understand.
Remember, Shadow was doing this with little understanding of earth. His only knowledge of earth was G.U.N, who murdered Maria, and Eggman, who was selfish and blew up the moon. Needless to say, his actions were not motivated for geniune evil, but confusion and loyalty.
Another aspect, loyalty. Shadow was endlessly loyal and loved Maria, being as siblings and no doubt regarding to her as a sister. His only family.
Yes, he can be selfish, but he is his only family left. He had yet to learn about other friendships and he had seemingly swore not to get attached to others.
If not outwardly, but implied.
Shadow does have friends, but perhaps he denies them as his fears of losing them are what he sees as a personal weakness.
Modern Shadow could have a sadness with him, not an anger. But a listlessness. A troubled mixture of emotions suppressed and swirling inside. His bursts of anger could be moments where there is a peak inside the fact he still hasn't gotten over Maria.
She was such a strong role in his backstory that an erasure of that could be considered capital sin.
His selfishness could be only a light affect of him being told his entire life he was The ultimate lifeform. But for what purpose?
He could see it as a formality, and in so he follows by acting the role he is given. His ego complex being more by habit and not being self-centered. As he has shown many times to care about others subtly (or not so subtly).
Again, I want to point out progression in the sense of a reversion to be able to justify his out of place behavior, and slowly connect it back. And Merge it.
Modern Shadow is confused. And no one has talked to him as if yet to help him. And he is stuck. If he gets a game or role now, he is most likely going to be the standard angry Shadow with no further explanation.
But in the other hand, if he were just to come back to normal, there is no smooth line between with no satisfaction.
What I like about frontiers are the subtle references stitching games together. Establishing a concrete lore long time needed.
Im going to conclude this rant soon, by lastly going over Shadow and sonic's rivalry briefly, as I will make a post about that as well.
In my next post I will actually go over Sonic's character himself, and how I believe it contributes to how others around him are portrayed and shown as.
In short, I might add more when given the chance to, but thank you for reading this little drabble. And please do reblog with your ideas and comments.

MY THOUGHTS ON TOTAL DRAMA 2023!
Hey everyone! Hope you campers are doing well today because I have a review just for you!
Total Drama is a franchise I didn't get to watch live on television. Mainly because I didn't get to see it growing up. However, that all changed when I reached high school and got majorly hooked. I liked the campers, the challenges, the wacky hijinks, the romance drama, and everything that makes the show unique. My favorite season is ROTI for a long time (Please don't hate. World Tour is a close third to the Ridonculous Race for me). All the characters, even the terrible ones, have all made quite the impression on me. For years, I've waited for new content to be uploaded, watching the stupid Dramarama, was there when Reunion shut down, and enjoy the pseudo series of Disventure Camp.
Now a new season has come out and let me be positive in saying that this was one of the best seasons in a long time.
New Chris voice? Doesn't bother me since I kinda liked the new voice direction.
All new cast instead of the old one? Thank goodness! The old cast is great, but new people are fun too! Stop whining for the old and embrace the new for a change.
Multicultural and LGBTQ rep? Sign me up! I loved Nichelle, Priya, Millie, Damien, and Bowie so much! Was surprised at the pairing of Bowie and Raj, too. Love them boys so much!
Challenges that felt different, but still stuck with the formula? Heck yeah! I loved the selfie one, the hunger one was funny, and the catapult one was so cool!
Were there negatives? Emma and Chase brought the season down sometimes. I liked Emma, but not enough to call her my favorite. She just needs to break up with that egotistical slimeball called Chase! Scary Girl being eliminated early hurt me too. She was funny. Damien got robbed, but he did that to himself.
My favorite characters made this season great for me!
Priya is my baby! She's funny, determined, and a hard worker. An athletic nerd girl to her core who trained to be on this show. I don't get the Priya hate, she's amazing! Sure she carried Millie, but that's what a girl in her shoes would do to a best friend. I liked their dynamic a lot.
Millie surprised me with how much I started to like her. She started off as a closet nerd that had a pension for being judgemental and mended her ways. Making friends with Priya was the best thing that ever happened to her. I bet she would get more love if they made her a villian.
Bowie....need I say more? He's the moment, the true villian in my opinion, and he slayed! His relationship with Raj was sweet, his friendship with Emma was funny, and his rivalry with Julia was top notch! This boy should come back for another season and kill it again!
Scary Girl aka Lauren was a fun character. A sweet little psycho who was Gothic and funny. I lived her wild card mindset of just being kooky and nutty while displaying certain strengths.
Damien was a cool nerd. Like he was chill and scared, but also knew his science. He came on the show expecting the million to be given to him. He's like if you mixed DJ with Cameron and added a dash of awesome. He wanted to get off so bad that he wasted his time. Bummer...
I feel bad for Nichelle though. Girlboss turned Girlfail real fast. I thought she was going to be the cool girl a la Heather and become the major villian. However, I just wanted to hug her instead. Hope she gets another season too.
Raj and Wayne are package deal and the bestest of bros. Wayne cracked me up when he noticed Raj was gay. He was literally the fan base when we all heard. Raj was a sweetie too. His crush on Bowie was the right amount of meet cute, awkward glances, and then Bowie became his hero. Boy loves his man more than hockey itself. How darling!
The other characters were okay in my opinion. Some were decent like MK and Zee. Chase can go die in a ditch with his car's breaks cut. Ripper was annoying. Julia was like a better version of crazy Courtney with Heather skills. Axel was fine too.
Chris and Chef's dynamic was much better than previously bad ones and Chef made me chuckle a few times. He's such an overprotective dad figure to the campers when he wants to.
Overall, I loved how the new season gave us a new perspective. Thirteen episodes are just okay to me, but I hope for more next time. Give this season a chance and maybe two watches before you come down on the hammer. It has gen z kids as the protagonists now, they are going to be different from the old cast. They were early z's, these campers are late z's. Do not be so hard on them.

May!!! How are you? There’s so much I wanna tell you about today :)
Since I think I forgot to tell you earlier this week,,, your biker!Paz is literally making me yearn so much 🥺 I love all your works but damn this one is just so lovely with all the cuteness and yearning. I can’t stop thinking about biker!Paz. Also, i read your new story „Here Comes the Bride“ the other day and I can’t wait to see where you take it from here. It definitely seems like it’s gonna be great to read☺️
And lastly, on a more personal note: I managed to get VIP tickets for Dan Howell‘s Tour in London. Idk if you’ve ever seen his content but he’s a YouTuber that I’ve watched since I was 13 years old. He was a major comfort during my teens and majorly influential when it came to me starting to dive into English content and learning to speak the language fluently, so I’m super hyped that I can finally see one of his tours live. I’ve also been wanting to go to London for years (the trip was supposed to happen as a graduation present but then Covid fucked it all up 🙃) so this is even better ☺️☺️
HELLOOO ✨♥️ I am good, how are you?
First of all, thank you so much for your kind words! Biker!Paz is for some reason harder to get into again than the other stories for me so it’s always nice to hear that someone is enjoying it 🥰 As for Here Comes The Bride, I’m so excited people are liking it because it’s so much fun to write! It’s a fun little project that I can just write down and it doesn’t feel like a lot of the prep work that might be needed for other series has to go into this one!
And of course I know Dan Howell! I never really got into his content but I had a friend in school who was a huge Dan and Phil fan, so I was always kind of aware of them and what they were doing. This sounds like an amazing thing to do and I hope the show will be great! And a whole London trip to go with that, how awesome is that????

The Positive Side of Spy Phone App
Ever since the spy apps have been introduced, they have been a controversial topic of discussion for various reasons, from safety concerns to privacy point of view there has been a lot of chatter around these spyware but how there is a positive side to those  apps is often overlooked. Yes, these apps also have a positive side and can be used other than just being a source of spying on others.
Before we dive into the positive side of these mobile spy apps, it is important to understand what they are and how they work. It software installed on the device which you want to monitor. You can use these apps to spy on your child’s online activities, employees’ productivity during the office hours, and in some cases, the legal authorities also use them to catch the culprits.
What Main Advantages of Spy Apps
It is their ability to create a safe and secure environment for people in the online world. There are many threats involved when we go online such as cyberbullying, online predators, different types of scams and frauds. Using spy apps can provide the individuals and businesses the peace of mind they deserve. By spying on your child, you can keep a close eye on what type of content they are exposed to. Likewise, with the businesses, by keeping a track of your employees, you can be sure that they are using their working hours wisely. These apps can also be of great help in emergency situations.
Talking about the apps from employers’ point of view, the rise of work from home and company-owned devices, it is important that employers monitor their employees and their activities during the working hours. The mobile spy apps can help you in preventing the breaching of data and ensuring that employees are using the devices only for work-related tasks.
For legal authorities also, these spyware tools have proven to be effective as there are many features offered by these apps that can help the officials to catch the culprits. With the hidden call recorder, they can listen to the phone conversations and simultaneously with the in-built live-location tracker, they can detect the current location of the suspect.
Another benefit of spyware is for personal use and safety. In case you are away from your family then you can install the application on your phone and give its access to your family member so that they can monitor you and be sure that you are safe. Another way you can benefit from spy apps is that in case you lose your phone or in a worst case scenario, if your phone gets stolen then with the location tracking enabled on your phone, you can find it. This way, you will not lose your important data stored on your phone and also you won’t need to invest in a new phone.
Which Spy App to Choose for Android Phone ?
While there are many apps available on the internet today, there are majorly two categories; free and paid. The free apps are less secure and offer less features while the paid spy apps are more secure and offer more features. We personally recommend using apps so that you can spy on your target completely. The paid apps offer multiple features that help you monitor everything they do on their android devices.
If you are looking for a reliable and trustworthy paid spy app then ONEMONITAR is surely here to end your search. The spying tool offers more than 60 amazing features that are compatible with all android devices and work efficiently. These features include hidden call recorder, WhatsApp spy, other social media monitoring tools like Instagram spy, Snapchat spy, etc., live-location tracking, and ambient sound recorder.
Another factor to choose this app is because it is designed and developed in India and has its own secure server where the users’ data is stored and the confidentiality and security of the data is ensured by the spyware as there is no third party involved to avoid any breach of privacy. Additionally, the experts at ONEMONITAR also cannot access your control panel as the spy phone app very-well understands that the data fetched from the target device can contain sensitive information, keeping this in mind, the ONEMONITAR team does not have access to this information to maintain the confidentiality of your private data.
Conclusion
Our concluding thoughts are that while there has been a negative buzz around the spy apps, they also have a positive side that should not be overlooked. If used wisely, these spyware tools can enhance safety and security of your loved ones and also build trust in relationships with also a pinch of open communication with your loved ones to work towards betterment of the relationship. Also, not to forget the positive impact it has on businesses by accurately tracking the activities of the employees to maintain productivity during the office hours.  https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/positive-side-spy-phone-app-spy-app-reviews-67jxc/

Despite the cryptocurrency market majorly waiting for a red September, its results positively surprised most crypto traders, as both Bitcoin (BTC) and the Total Crypto Market Cap (CRYPTOCAP: TOTAL) closed the past month with shy gains. These results contributed to some projects accumulating even higher gains in a larger timeframe, with three cryptocurrencies from the top 100 by market capitalization more than doubling up in price year-to-date (YTD): Maker Protocol (MKR): +185% YTD, after accruing for 25% gains in September; Bitcoin Cash (BCH): +143% YTD, after surging by 13% last month; Solana (SOL): +104% YTD, but only gaining a shy 3% in September. Interestingly, all three top performers had lost more than 10% of each of their values in August. Additionally, MKR was the most steady performer since the beginning of 2023, with its best month making for 50% gains, and its worst two months for 15% losses. On the other hand, BCH had a meaningful 122% increase in price in June only, while SOL registered an amazing 140% in the first month of the year, according to data retrieved by Finbold from Coin Metrics on October 3. Top 100 Crypto Asset Returns by Month, 2023. Source: Coin Metrics MKR price analysis Notably, MKR is still showing a steady performance even on a fairly negative day for the crypto market. Trading at $1,463 at the time of publication, with 1.4% losses in the last 24 hours, while Bitcoin is losing more than 3.5% from yesterday’s price. MKR 1-day price chart. Source: Finbold BCH price analysis Meanwhile, BCH is plummeting by 7.8% intraday, trading at $235 by press time. This represents a strong hit for Bitcoin Cash investors who were betting in a continuation uptrend after surpassing Litecoin’s (LTC) in market capitalization — a position that has already been reverted with this current retrace. BCH 1-day price chart. Source: Finbold SOL price analysis The highly scalable layer-1 blockchain is also the less volatile digital asset today among the three best performers in 2023.  SOL 1-day price chart. _____________________________________________________________________
Sarah ran her soft fingertips over his metallic arm, simply contemplating all the majestical things he could do with it in the bedroom. Blushing at her own thoughts she quickly shook it off and pulled away. “Are you ready to help?”
It was the largest gathering that the small town in New Orleans had ever seen! Sam had invited his distant cousins from most of the neighboring cities. The Wilson family cook out was a popular event and was even crowned the most famous tourist spot of the summer! Only contested by the Louisiana folks during the majorly eventful Bayou festival in mid May.
The small dock erupted in cheers and laughter as Hey Ya! by OutKast blasted loudly, consuming the crowd and forcing everyone to the center of the dock.
“What you young-ins know about this jam!” Sam slid from the back of the boat, four cases of Corona beers in both hands,  with a contented grin plastered onto his face. Aj and Cass not too far behind.
“Where’s your mother anyway? Y’all been stuck with me all day.” Sam arched a confused brow at the two boys who shrugged their tiny shoulders in unison. “Last - I saw her with Uncle Bucky, packing the food.” Aj said before grabbing his brother’s hand and leading him to the center of the dance circle.
“Uncle Bucky?” Both of Sam’s brows shot up his forehead. “When did he get here?” He whispered to himself, when he placed the cases by the cooler on the table - and began his quest for his sister and his best friend.
———————————————————————-
“This is my famous king crab Bucky.” Sarah shot a pearly white smile as she lathered the crab in spicy garlic butter sauce. She then gently stacked them onto one another in an oversized foil plate.
It was the time of the year where all of the eligible bachelorettes would slither their way to the dock in search of their “future husbands.” Sarah had already taken her loses and retired from the game - ever since the death of her husband. However, today seemed special, it was the first time in years that her stomach knotted in curls from butterflies so much so, that she thought she’d puke. Her youth sprung about anytime Bucky was around, similarly to a school girl with her very first crush. He just brought out the best in her, so she decided why not look the part.
Sam had mentioned to her that her skin glistened whenever she wore the color yellow. Despite how out of character it was for him to be so blunt about literally - anything, Sarah decided to take his advice and throw on her favorite off shoulder cut, form fitting sun dress. Her long senegalese twists were tied into a high bun and wrapped in a yellow ribbon that flowed behind her in pure elegance.
Turning the corner of her bedroom - on her way to the kitchen, she was greeted by a well dressed Bucky in a tight blue knit sweater that hugged his body in all the right places! And dark black jeans that displayed his full basketball trunk. He stood over a boiling pot of king crabs on the stove. Clearing her throat quite loudly, she caught his attention almost immediately. As he turned to face her his eyes widened in astonishment, almost as if he had sinfully taken a peak at the worlds most beautiful piece of treasure.
“Wow,” was all Bucky could muster when gravity became the main puppeteer, forcefully drawing them towards one another. He smiled sheepishly and continued “you look lovely Sarah.” Returning his grin she replied “and you don’t look so bad yourself, Uncle Bucky.”
Pulling him into a tight embrace Bucky’s chin rested in the corner of Sarah’s neck. He took in the scent of her sweet Vanilla Bean cologne. If he could have his way, he would have swallowed her whole that very instant. He wished for nothing more than to have her succumbed to his own desires, clawing his name on his back as she screams in pure ecstasy. Bucky swayed rhythmically with her movements, it took all of his energy not to instinctively plant a soft kiss between her neck and trail.
Sarah ran her soft fingertips over his metallic arm, simply contemplating all the majestical things he could do with it in the bedroom. Blushing at her own thoughts she quickly shook it off and pulled away. “Are you ready to help?”

“When I’m done with this batch, can you wrap it in aluminum foil and carry it to the front table for our guests?” Sarah faced the stove top, her back turned to a confused Bucky, who watched her work in utter amazement.
Bucky was familiar with crab as a cuisine, and had tasted a fair share of it during his time in Wakanda. However, he had never seen it prepared before him.
“So does it like ... cry or anything when you place it in the boiling water ... alive?” He asked innocently, when Sarah sighed in disbelief and sat the lathering brush onto the table. Her heart fluttered at his innocence, but her mind pondered in continuous confusion. She wondered just how much Bucky had missed out on in the last 70 years or just seemingly had minimal to no experience on. Turning to face him a smile crept its way up her plump lips as she answered nonchalantly “I don’t have an answer for you Bucky.”
His blue eyes glistened in curiosity as they scanned over Sarah’s features, she was unlike any woman that he had ever seen. From her bright dark brown eyes to the cute little indentation by her nose, Bucky found himself lost in their tight gaze. Until he eventually landed on Sarah’s plush pink lips. Sarah noticed Bucky’s observance and smiled shyly. Her cheeks flushed when she subconsciously ran her tongue over her lips. Of course she wanted to grapple Bucky right then and there, she had wanted to do so since she first laid eyes on the man. But one of her biggest fears was getting involved with a hero. She already had her plate full with Sam, was she really ready to add another burden to the list?
————————————————————————
“There you guys are!” Sam grinned and pulled Sarah into a tight embrace “I was beginning to worry.”
“Aw Sam, you missed me, how sweet.” Bucky winked as Sam glared his way. Placing the trays of king crabs with roasted corn and potatoes, buttermilk biscuits and cajun shrimp onto the table, Sarah called for the event goers to each grab a plate and head for the grub.
Sam handed both Bucky and Sarah a pair of gloves before taking a seat at the edge of the table. He pinched Aj and Cass’s noses when they playfully snatched his plate from before him. “Y’all better stop playing before I tell your mama to send you to bed early.” He smiled when they took a seat next to him.
He watched bewildered by his sisters boldness when she took a seat by Bucky. Running her finger tips over his armored arm, he noticed that she began to play her fingers through her twists. Her grin from ear to ear as she engaged in conversation with Bucky, the same thing she used to do when she had a crush on a boy in high school.
“So where’s the crab opener?” Bucky asked, facing Sam who’s face scrunched in utter disgust. Sarah bursted into a fit of laughter when Aj and Cass joined as well.
“We don’t use that utensil around these parts, buddy.” Bucky’s brow arched in confusion when Sam picked up a crab leg and ripped it in half with one tug. “You see here?” He placed the piece into his mouth and used his teeth to crack the shell methodically, in an instant the entire meat was stripped from the leg. “Now that’s how you eat a crab leg! Let me see you do it.”
All eyes were now glued onto Bucky as he studied the crab leg. His blue eyes narrowed when he used his metal arm to pick up the leg and snapped it in half effortlessly. Sarah’s eyes widened as she watched Bucky smile contently to himself. He placed the crab to his lips, intricately running his tongue over every square inch of it. He shot Sarah a mischievous smirk, before pulling it out with a loud plop! “Tasty.”
Sarah flushed immediately, inching her way out of her seat. While Sam glared intently, picking up a piece of shrimp and sulking in his defeat.

Secret Love Part 7 || Cale Makar
Tumblr media
Requested: [ ] yes [x] no
Authors Note: Sweet man got an apple yesterday and I’m hoping he hits the scoresheet again today. Also I am still DEAD from the photos the avs dropped on us the other day and they are majorly feeding some thoughts... Hopefully, I redeem myself from the cliffhanger with this part. I managed to finish part 8 last night so I plan on starting on part 9 as soon as I actually get some of the things on my to do list done with school starting again this week. (Updates may get slower so just forewarning you about that.) But uh...enjoy and let me know what you think.
Warnings: smut, cursing.
Word Count: 3,566
~~~~~
You hadn’t even made it two steps before Cale’s hand caught your wrist, gently pulling you back to him. For a moment his expression seemed panicked, but then it softened considerably, a smile breaking onto his face as flickers of awe appeared in his eyes. You watched as he opened his mouth to speak twice, quickly shutting it each time before he finally hummed in content.
“Is it my baby?” He questioned. “The one you imagine sleeping in there? Are they my kids running around the basement, skating in the backyard?” Though you hesitated, unsure of what answer he wanted to hear, your face must have given you away because Cale’s smile grew, his cheeks flushing.  “You bought this house because you can see our life together here? You couldn’t wait to show me, could you? Hoping that I’d love it as much as you do?” Ducking his head, Cale pressed his lips to yours, easing them together gently.
“You’re incredible.” He spoke, his breath fanning against your lips. “Would you relax?” He requested. “I’m not going anywhere.” His voice was so self-assured that you couldn’t help but take comfort in it. Kissing you again, Cale moved you over to your living room couch where he sat, pulling you halfway onto his lap.
 “Should we talk about this?” He suggested. “We didn’t want to define this before but I think maybe we should now.” He continued. You’d failed to define things on purpose, not wanting to pressure Cale into anything considering the toxic relationship he’d gotten out of just before your feelings had been revealed. But it had been a few months and if Cale was ready for that step then you needed to hear him out.
“What do you want?” You whispered, rubbing over your arm as a chill coursed through your body.
“I want you.” Cale declared. “I want to get to know who you are as more than just my friend. I want to continue to explore this chemistry we have.” Gently his fingers brushed over your thigh, making you shiver for another reason entirely. “I care about you Y/N...and I think I could feel even stronger if given the chance.”
“So...this is…?” You prompted not wanting to assume anything. Shaking his head, Cale smiled before inching his fingers higher on your thigh.
“Us dating, an exclusive and serious relationship, you being my girlfriend...take your pick.” Cale grinned.
“All of the above.” You breathed, almost amazed at how relaxed and sure he seemed about this. It shouldn’t have surprised you but for some reason it did.
“I like the sound of that.” Cale mused. “But uh...can we keep this between us just for a little while. You know mom will go crazy and…”
“You want to be sure there’s something for her to go crazy over.” You finished.
“That wasn’t what I was going to say,” Cale said, shaking his head. “That’s already true and I don’t see it changing.” Your heart jumped at his words because indirectly he was saying that this was something he was in for the long haul. Again, you probably could have gathered that from his awed reaction to the two of you having kids together someday, but for some reason, this phrasing was what really hit you hard. “I was going to say that I just want to enjoy this just the two of us for a while before I get looks every time I tell her I’m coming over here.”
So he wanted to be selfish for a little while, you were totally okay with that. To be honest, you weren’t really looking forward to sharing this with the world just yet either. Still, you had to tease him just a little.
“You just want the thrill of sneaking around like we’re teenagers again…” You razzed him. Though his cheeks flushed, he didn’t deny it, just shrugging his shoulders in response.
“Problem?” He asked, his fingers settling at the base of your skull to pull you closer.
“Nope.” You admitted, closing the distance between the two of you to kiss him again. The feeling of his mouth on yours was becoming addictive, but you didn’t want it any other way.
By the time you finally pulled away to breathe, you felt calm. Now that the air was clear it seemed like some of the urgency that had lingered in you since his arrival disappeared. It wasn’t that you didn’t still feel needy for his touch, because you did, rather, now you felt secure in the fact that he was yours and so just being held by him was enough.
“So uh your dad set my tv up for me. I don’t have internet yet but we could watch a movie or tv show on DVD if you want?” You whispered. When Cale nodded, you shifted to let him off the couch before pointing at the box you were certain contained all of your movies. You couldn’t help but admire Cale from behind as he dug through the box, finally making a selection. As you turned the tv on, you watched him pop it in the DVD player before turning to return to you. Suddenly he changed direction, moving over to his bags, and you perched yourself up on the couch, curious as to what had caused the path change. His hand was behind his back when he appeared in front of you again and he wore a sheepish smile.
“I uh...I brought you something…I forgot about it until just now.” He explained, moving his hand to pass you the object. It was a photo frame and when you turned it over you gasped. Inside was a picture of the two of you from the night at the bar with the Avs. Cale was talking to someone, eyes bright and that lazy drunk grin on his face. You, on the other hand, were just resting against his shoulder like there was no place you’d rather be than tucked into his side. It was a cute picture and you immediately moved to place it on the fireplace mantle. “Lauren sent it to me and I thought it might make you smile.” Cale murmured.
“It’s perfect.” You assured him, slipping your arms around his waist as you leaned in for a soft kiss. “Now what movie did you pick?” You inquired, the two of you settling back down to cuddle on the couch. A glance at the screen revealed the title screen for The Princess Bride and you giggled totally satisfied with his choice.
Cuddling on the couch with your head on Cale’s chest was your new favorite way to spend an evening. You quoted parts of the movie to each other, Cale making you giggle each time. At one point he murmured against your head and when you couldn’t make out the words you pulled back just enough to look at him.
“What was that?” You inquired. Cale looked at you like he didn’t expect to be caught and he shook his head as if to say it was nothing. For a moment you were prepared to let it go, but after how much Cale had prodded you to be open with him all evening, you felt you deserved the same. “Talk to me, Cale.” You nudged gently. His cheeks started turning pink again and you brushed your thumb over one of them, trying to reassure him.
“I said I hope our kids get your giggle.” He eventually caved and admitted.
“Oh.” You breathed, that not being what you expected at all. Cale opened his mouth again and you shook your head. “You don’t have to explain yourself Cale, you’re allowed to think those things. But if you want to talk about it, I’m all ears. I mean...I know you’re probably not ready to be seriously thinking about having kids and that’s okay, I’m not going to rush you, I know we’re at different stages…” Not realizing you’d started to ramble, you were shocked to be cut off by Cale’s mouth against yours.
After kissing you, Cale leaned back against the couch and his eyes focused on the movie once more. You figured he wanted to drop the subject, so you complied, laying your head back down against him.
“I’ve uh...I’ve had a lot of time to process what happened with Sara…” Cale eventually whispered. “And god I was terrified when she told me she was pregnant. But I don’t think that fear was at the thought of having a baby...it was the fear of having a baby with her.” You didn’t know what to do with that statement and you hoped Cale had more that he wanted to say. “Like I suspected she was cheating. I knew our relationship wasn’t good anymore. Having a baby in that situation would have just been a mess…”
Cale paused to laugh at the scene on the screen in front of you but after a moment you felt him press a kiss to the top of your head. “But uh...I don’t think I’d be so scared if the situation was right…” That seemed to be all that Cale had to say and you nodded against him, his words lingering in your head. You had no idea what he meant by the ‘situation being right’ but it certainly felt like he was implying that he was open to kids with you at some point in the semi-distant future.
Deciding that worrying about kids right now was just an exercise in insanity, you shifted your focus back to the movie and the man whose body you were snuggled into. This was new and good and you were going to enjoy it. You had Cale for the summer and you planned to make the most of that time with him. There were so many things left to discover about each other and so many experiences to share. It had been a long time since you were in a relationship and though this wasn’t anything like your previous relationships, you were going to take your time getting to know Cale in all of these new ways.
When the credits finally started rolling across the screen you glanced up again to find Cale’s eyes on you. You weren’t sure how long he’d been staring, but you poked his side as a contented smile settled onto your face.
“What are you thinking?” You teased, your eyebrows raised.
“That you’re beautiful.” He said softly. “And that I can’t wait to spend the summer with you.” His thumb brushed against your cheek as he brushed a stray strand of hair from your face. “But also that I just want to take you to bed.” He finished, desire flickering in his eyes.
“Lead the way.” You murmured, turning the tv off as Cale stood up.
When the two of you reached the bedroom, Cale sat on the edge of the bed pulling you between his muscular thighs. With his hands on your hips, you watched as he pressed his head into your stomach for a minute before pulling back.
“Can we take our time tonight?” He requested, his touch featherlight as his thumbs grazed your sides.
“Of course, handsome.” You agreed, your fingers shifting to tangle in his hair. He didn’t react right away but after a moment his fingers slipped under your tank, slowly inching the fabric up your body. His mouth followed his hands, pressing kisses to your stomach, your ribs, and up along your sternum. Your breath hitched as first your tank and then your bra hit the floor for the second time today.
“God I can’t get over how perfect you are.” Cale praised, a soft but wicked gleam present as he gazed at you. “And don’t tell me you’re not because you are.” Taking compliments had always been something you struggled with and Cale clearly knew it. The words of denial on your lips were quickly forgotten, however, when Cale lifted you, gently laying you back against the mattress.
The way he was exploring your body was reverent and as much as you needed more, you were basking under his attention. There wasn’t a divet or curve Cale left unexplored. He hadn’t even touched you anywhere good yet but already you were aching for him. When his mouth latched onto one of your breasts, his teeth lightly scraping against your nipple, you were certain he could make you cum doing only that. Your body arched into him, your hands scraping against his lower back under his shirt until he pulled back to shed the offending fabric from his torso.
“Look at you.” He mumbled, pressing himself against you, his lips seeking out yours again. “So beautiful. All mine.”
“Yessss…” The whine left your throat as you attempted to thread your fingers under the waistband of his shorts.
“Uh uh.” He immediately chastised, his hand quickly grasping both of yours, pinning them to the bed above your head. “Not yet.” He warned, his voice and the small act of domination making you shiver beneath him. His fingers showed off his dexterity as he undid the button on your shorts. “Keep them there.” He warned again, letting go of your wrists for just a moment while he worked your shorts and panties off of your body. Too absorbed in what he was going to do next, you left your hands where he’d placed them. As he hovered over you once more, his knee parting your thighs, you felt his mouth nip along your neck before he kissed you again.
“Good girl.” He praised, “Guess I should reward you for being so good for me.” He mused, mischief crossing his expression before settling in his eyes. You felt his hand slip down your side before grazing along your thigh. Finally, his thumb bumped against your clit and you couldn’t help but moan when your skin sparked under his touch. “You’re so wet…” Cale breathed, his voice softening.
“Cale…” You whimpered, your hips attempting to arch into his hand as much as you could while being held in place by his solid body. Leveraging you back down with his body, Cale slipped first one thick finger and then a second into your core. “Oh fuck.” You cursed as Cale curled his fingers just right, making your entire body hot. He continued to spread you apart, his actions slow and deliberate as the knot in your stomach started to tighten.
If he was this good with his fingers and that good with his dick, you could only imagine what having his mouth on you would feel like when you finally reached that point. “Holy shit Cale right…” A choked gasp interrupted your sentence as Cale’s fingers scissored inside of you. As he curled them against your inner walls again, you felt your body snap and you cried out as your orgasm crashed over you. As your body finally drifted back down to reality you realized Cale was sitting back on his knees, licking his fingers clean of your juices.
“You taste sweet.” Cale declared and for a moment all you could do was laugh. Cale eyed you, probably thinking you were crazy as you sat up to kiss him. Everything about this was surreal and in a way overwhelming. “Y/N?” Cale inquired, his forehead resting against yours.
“I’m good.” You assured him, your hands settling at his hips. “You just keep surprising me that’s all.”
“Mmm...is that right?” Cale breathed, his fingers trailing down your back.
“It is.” You grinned. “Believe it or not, I tried not to think about your sex life so all of this is new to me.” With his attention focused on your words, you were able to slide your fingers under the waistband of his shorts, your hands sliding down to cup the globes of his ass. “You’ve got a bit of a kinky side under the boy next door exterior.” You teased.
“You aren’t as innocent as you appear either,” Cale smirked, his hips rolling back into your hands.
“I never claimed to be.” You chirped, pushing at his shorts and boxer briefs wanting him free from the rest of his clothes. “Now are you going to fuck me?” You inquired, your neediness slipping back into your tone.
“Nope.” Cale’s response threw you, especially when he helped you slide his clothing off before leaning over to where he’d stashed the box of condoms earlier. “Lay back sunshine. Let me take care of you.” He guided you to lay back against the pillows, settling his body over you. As he rolled the condom into place, Cale lifted your leg to drape over his hip and then gently and slowly pressed into you. It had only been a few hours since he’d last been inside you, but you’d missed the feeling of fullness that settled in your bones when you were connected like this.
With arms pressed to either side of your head to hold him above you, Cale rolled his hips, creating just the slightest bit of friction. It was slow and felt beyond intimate and suddenly you understood everything. Cale wasn’t going to fuck you because this was so much more than that. This was the two of you connecting in the most intimate way; it was more than physical, it was emotional.
Lifting your other leg to wrap around his waist, you tilted your head to kiss along his jaw. The new position allowed him to roll his hips deeper inside of you and you melded your mouth to his, pouring everything you felt for him into it.
You weren’t sure how long the two of you had been like this, time seemed to be an illusion as your bodies worked slowly in tandem to bring each other pleasure. You could feel your orgasm slowly build, so steadily that you were certain you’d know when your orgasm was about to crest. Then Cale slid a hand under your back forcing your hips to arch and suddenly you were screaming his name as heat and pleasure and relief and love hit you one after the other in waves. Cale followed you into your orgasm, his moans serving as the greatest sound you’d ever heard.
Kissing his shoulder, you waited for him to come down from his orgasm, your legs still wrapped firmly around his hips. He moved to pull out but you shook your head.
“Just wait a minute please.” You requested. Cale complied, his nose brushing against your jaw as he buried his face into your neck. As much as you never wanted him to part from you, you knew he needed to and so after a moment you gingerly let your legs drop back to the mattress, whining at the feeling of your aching muscles. Your legs weren’t the only thing that ached as Cale pulled out of you, but somehow as he moved to dispose of the condom, you were able to move to use the bathroom, peeing and cleaning yourself up.
Moving back into your room you decided that you were too tired to search for clean clothes and you certainly weren’t going to sleep in your dirty ones. So you slipped into bed as you were, yawning softly. You wondered what was taking Cale so long but you heard water running so you figured he was washing his hands and cleaning up himself. Instead, he returned with a bottle of water and a bottle of pills. Shaking a set of pills from the latter, he offered them and the water out to you.
“So you’re not as sore in the morning.” He murmured. Grateful, you took them downing half of what was in the bottle as well because you definitely had not had enough to drink today. “Go ahead and finish it, I can refill it from the tap.” He insisted. Whispering your thanks you finished it off before laying back down. After refilling the bottle from the bathroom tap, Cale set it beside the bed and then crawled in beside you, his arms behind his head as if inviting you to snuggle against him.
Taking the invitation, you snuggled close, your head resting on his shoulder. As soon as you were settled, he dropped his arms draping one around you.
“I’m glad you flew in early.” You breathed. This was your first night in your new home and spending it with Cale just felt right. Like it was just the first of many in the years to come. “Today’s been...amazing.”
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.” Cale replied, his lips pressing against your forehead. It was easy to start falling asleep, but you hummed in acknowledgement when Cale spoke your name. “We need to get you a bigger bed.” He mumbled. “Doubles are not made for 6 feet tall guys.” Giggling into his shoulder you smiled contentedly. “We’ll move this bed to the guest room and I’ll buy you a bigger bed. You can call it your housewarming present.” He insisted. That wasn’t a battle you were going to fight with him, you’d do pretty much anything to make sure that he was comfortable here, so you kissed his shoulder.
“Alright Cale...now go to sleep.” You teased. Less than one day in, you already knew this was going to be the greatest summer ever.
Tangled Roots (Neville Longbottom x Reader)
THIS STORY IS A COLLAB WITH THE EVER WONDERFUL @fromashescomephoenixes !! GO CHECK HER OUT !!
Summary: Professor Sprout is renowned for the scarcity of apprentices she accepts each year. In a surprising turn of events, the ever shy Neville Longbottom proves just why he’s in the house of red, and it certainly isn’t for his bravery.
“Y/n! Can you stay behind for a moment dear.” Professor Sprout called out to me as she dismissed the class, and I nodded eagerly. Rumour had it that Sprout was giving out two herbology apprenticeships. The past three years she hadn’t given any out, since she was extremely particular about who she mentored. I walked over shyly to the desk, and she smiled.
“Y/n, I was wondering what you were interested in doing after you left hogwarts?” All the fifth years had heard this too many times already, and I shrugged hopelessly.
“I have no idea, Professor.” I replied honestly. She nodded slowly.
“What subjects are you taking next year?” She asked.
“Advanced potions, herbology, divination, transfiguration and standard potions. The herbology will help majorly with my potions classes. Snape’s made it clear he only accepted the best, and I somehow got in.” I chatted excitedly. Snape could be an incredible teacher when he wanted to be, despite how much of a cow he was.
“Have you considered taking an apprenticeship with anyone?” Oh, Godric, this was it. She was about to ask me.
“I’m hoping to be offered one, which is why I’m only taking five classes. It gives me flexibility.” I shivered in anticipation.
“I would like to offer you a herbology apprenticeship. You’ll be working alongside another student, and I’ll be your mentors. This is an incredible opportunity, and one that you shouldn’t take lightly. I don’t expect an answer now-“ For the first time in five years, I cut her off.
“I would be honoured, Professor! Honestly, it sounds fantastic!” She smiled at me.
“The apprenticeship will begin tonight. I know you’re only halfway through your fifth year, but I believe I have two of the best herbology students Hogwarts has ever seen, and I intend on taking advantage of that. The course will be incredibly dense, and incredibly hands on, but the payoff is worth it. As you said, this is a huge advantage in potions, and in the herbology class. If you’re still interested, come to this greenhouse at half past seven tonight.” I nodded, and before I could say another word she ushered me out the door.
As I walked to potions, I pondered about who the other student would be. Would we be mentored at the same time? In my Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff herbology class, no one seemed exactly thrilled to be there. That meant it was a Gryffindor or Slytherin. Slim pickings, but I had a few friends in there.
I slipped into the potions classroom undetected, and stealthily pulled out some parchment and a quill. I sat beside Harry, and he smiled at me. Snape continued his lecture, and I began writing down notes.
“Why’re you late?” Harry asked, and I grinned.
“Sprout offered me an apprenticeship!” I whispered excitedly. Snape paused, and so did we. When he continued, Harry spoke.
“That’s amazing! Neville’s doing the other one.” Neville. That’s who the hidden herbology genius was.
“Longbottom?” Harry nodded. I didn’t know how I felt about Neville, but I suppose it didn’t matter. I caught his eye at the end of potions, and he flushed red. This was going to be interesting.
I finished dinner early and made my way to the greenhouses. I knocked hesitantly, but I needn’t worry.
“Come in!” Professor Sprout called eagerly, and I walked in, shutting the door tightly behind me. Neville was already there, and I smiled at him. He looked away, and I shrugged.
“Welcome, Y/n. Today your classes both worked on the beautiful fanged geranium. As you both know, this is a garden plant, and is incredibly senile when taken care of. It’s fangs have many uses and properties, making them excellently versatile in potioneering. Y/n, make sure you write that down. I imagine you’ll be covering this in advanced, though Neville you needn’t worry. These shouldn’t appear on your exam, however if they do then you’ll have much more preparation than the others.” I scribbled across my parchment quickly, eager to take in as much as I could. Sprout continued, and before I knew it she was ushering us out of the classroom.
“We will be meeting each night at half past seven. If you are unable to make it on a particular day, let me know the day prior.” Sprout shut the door.
“That was incredible!” I breathed as Neville and I stood outside the door. Neville nodded with a content sigh.
“The best! Can you believe we have another two and a half years of that?” We started walking, though our towers were on opposite sides of the castle. I cast a tempus as we walked, to see that it was half eleven.
“Rowena!” I exclaimed, and Neville increased his pace.
“Don’t worry, Neville. I’m a prefect. I’ll walk you back in case we run into anyone.” He slowed down enough for me to catch up.
“Isn’t the boy supposed to escort the girl?” He murmured.
“Wha-Oh!” I felt red creeping up my neck, and I involuntarily shivered. We walked in silence, my mind playing on what he had said. Neville Longbottom! I must have shared two words with him prior to this.
“I’m afraid I don’t know the way from here. You’ll have to guide me.” I broke the silence, and Neville took the lead. For some strange reason, I was committing the way to Gryffindor tower to memory.
“Our portrait’s a fat lady who thinks she can sing. Impossible to miss her.” Sure enough, I could hear a voice cracking in an attempt to reach a high note. I laughed.
“Is it always hear her before you see her?” Neville laughed as well.
“S’ppose so.” The warbling voice got louder and louder as we went up a staircase, and I finally met her.
“Oh! Hello, you two lovebirds. Is that Neville? Gosh, you’re dating a pretty little thing, aren’t ya?” She laughed and stared at us expectantly.
“No! We aren’t dating.” Neville shook his head, and she giggled. “Horntail.” His voice dropped, but I still heard it. The portrait swung open, and Neville looked back at me.
“Goodnight. Thanks for walking me back.” I smiled at him.
“No worries. See you tomorrow.”
“The new seating plan is as follows.” Flitwick stood in the middle of the room, with his students standing in front of him.
“Granger, Boot, Longbottom, L/n, Potter, Goldstein..” His voice continued, but I didn’t need to listen. I high-fived Harry, and I smiled tentatively at Neville. He gave me a small smile back, and I figured it was due to his shy nature.
“Neville, did you finish Sprout’s assignment?” I had finished it, albeit with difficulty. He nodded.
“Yeah, it was tricky but Hermione helped me a bit.” Hermione overheard and smiled at us. I nodded in return. It was a wonder how Hermione didn’t snag one of the apprenticeships, considering she was the smartest witch in Hogwarts at the moment.
“I struggled with it, like, majorly. This is her first chance to assess us and I had no clue what I was doing. I think I might quit the apprenticeship.” It was a horrible thought, but it was the truth. Maybe I wasn’t cut out for a herbology apprenticeship.
“No way! Sprout offered it to you over Hermione, even! She thinks you can do it, so you have to at least try. I had no clue where to start, but by the end I was really happy with it.” Neville stared at me with his doe eyes and I felt something inside me change. I found myself slowly smiling.
“I guess. I’ll give it another week, I suppose.” Neville smiled back and the charms class went on.
All throughout the day I thought about my first herbology assignment. I knew it wasn’t to standard. I had no clue where to start, and it had been messy and rushed. At the end of advanced potions, I caught Hermione.
“Hey! Hermione! Neville said you helped him with the herbology thing, any chance I can get some wisdom?” I asked hopefully. She frowned.
“I’m sorry, Y/n. I have a class now, and I tutor on Tuesday nights. Is it due tonight?” I nodded, knowing I was fucked.
“Why don’t you ask Neville? I’m sure he’d be happy to help. Bye!” I watched her retreating figure before she was lost in the crowd. There was a reason I hadn’t asked Neville for help, but I couldn’t figure out what it was.
“Hey, Y/n!” Harry nudged my shoulder, and I fell into step beside him.
“Hey, Harry. Are you doing any apprenticeships this year?” Harry looked at me for a long time before he spoke.
“Kinda. It’s sort of a secret.” I squeezed his hand briefly before letting go.
“That’s cool! Are you struggling as much as I am? I’ve failed the first assignment already, and Hermione can’t even help me!” Harry laughed, at least someone thought my life was funny.
“Yeah, I definitely am. Snape’s my mentor. He’s a right cow, I want to shove my head through the desk every time he speaks.” We both laughed, and it was nice to have a friend.
“I’m going to the library. Care to join me?” I couldn’t do my herbology first, since at least I had done some of it. The rest of my subjects, annoyingly, gave me enough homework for a week due in a day.
“Sure! Only if I can copy your notes for both potions and transfiguration.” I shook his outstretched hand.
“Deal.” As we turned a corner, Malfoy and his goons approached us.
“L/n and Potter. What a pretty pair.” Harry tensed beside me.
“Wow, thanks! I’ve always thought you and Harry were the prettier pair, honestly.” Parkinson caught my eye, and for some reason she smiled.
“Wh-What?” Harry and Malfoy both stuttered out a response. I grabbed Harry’s hand and pushed past them before laughing.
“When’s dinner again?” I asked. Harry shook his head.
“Okay. One, you’ve been at this castle for five years and your dumbass can’t remember what time dinner is. Two, what the fuck was that?” We entered the library, and Pince glanced over at us before returning to her book.
“It shut him up, didn’t it?” I whispered, sliding my stuff onto a table. Harry sat next to me.
“At my expense!” Harry argued.
“And his. He didn’t even notice it was about you. Here’s my standard and advanced potions notes from today. Standard is the procedure for brewing the fake amortentia, and I can’t even remember what advanced was. Something about the forest?” Okay, maybe I should have paid more attention in advanced. In my defence, Harry paid even less attention. Harry’s face was still red, and I wondered why he was so fixated on a comment.
“You’re lucky you’re funny or I wouldn’t grace you with my presence.” Harry huffed as he pulled out his parchment and quills, and I handed him my notes. I then pulled out my herbology textbook and notes from the previous lesson. There was a lot.
“Blimey! Who would have thought herbology was so annoying?” Harry exclaimed as he stared at my desk, and I shrugged.
“It’s different when you like the subject, ya know?” We gradually shifted to working in silence, and the only sound was the occasional page turn and the rough scratch of quill on fresh parchment. I didn’t know how long had passed, but I did know I had finished the work for all my other subjects. Herbology had to be done eventually.
“Tempus.” I murmured, and I had exactly an hour before meeting with Sprout.
“Fuck.” I said, and Harry nodded.
“Mood.” He said as I opened up the textbook and flicked through the index, but nothing was catching my eye. A light tap on my shoulder made me turn around, and I smiled when I saw Neville.
“Hermione mentioned you might need my help with the first assignment? I’ve got a copy of mine here, and we can write a rough draft of yours. A self-inking quill can do the rest, right?” I stared in shock. Never  before had I heard Neville speak so many words at once, let alone to me.
“Um-yeah. Sure. Thanks for the help. Did you want to grab a seat from that table?” I gestured to a nearby empty table, and Neville headed over there. Harry was gesturing wildly when I turned back around.
“You like Neville.” He accused me, and I shook my head.
“I barely know the bloke Harry.” I defended, but I began to wonder. I could very easily see myself falling in love with a guy like Neville, who loved herbology and all magical creatures, who smiled like he was the luckiest guy on the planet, and who loved his friends with everything he had. I didn’t quite know what my feelings were, and now they were an even bigger mess than I had initially thought.
“I started mine with an introduction on who initially discovered the fanged geranium, a muggle-born wizard Charles Heritier. He isn’t in any of our herbology textbooks, so I had to use a book on the success of wizards amongst muggles. He has like, half a page, but it was enough. Here.” Neville arrived and pushed a book towards me, and I picked it up, flicking through the pages.
“Thanks. Charles Heritier, that sounds strangely familiar.” I said, and I began jotting down the beginning of my essay.
“Probably because Charles also discovered geraniums. He must’ve had a thing for them, right?” I quietly laughed at the unexpected joke, and quickly wrapped up my introduction.
“You did the first body on Tilden Toots I’m guessing. She went on to discover how vast the use for fanged geraniums was, and revolutionised the use of the plant in potions.” I didn’t wait for Neville’s response as I kept writing.
“You barely need help at all.” He accused me, and I laughed again.
“You’re kidding, right? The intro is the hardest part, it sets the scene for the whole essay.”
We continued working on the essay, and at some point our arms had begun touching, our heads had drawn closer and our smiles wider. When we had finished the essay, I looked at the time.
“Oh, Rowena! We have got to hurry, Nev!” I began packing up my belongings when I realised a certain bespectacled Gryffindor had disappeared.
“Where did Harry go?” I asked, and Neville shrugged, as clueless as I was.
“No time to find out! Sprout is going to have our heads!” We flew out of the secluded corner of the library that Pince never seemed to check and into the corridor. I was already panting.
“Godric, am I unfit.” I sighed and Neville was struggling beside me.
“Maybe we shouldn’t have left it to the last minute.” He said between jagged breaths, and if I had had the energy to reply, I would have agreed. We arrived at the greenhouse a minute late, and Sprout had her hands on her hips.
“Honestly, you two. It’s scarcely been a week and you’re already late. Hurry along now, we’re beginning preparations for our case study on Lykos roots. Yes, Mr Longbottom, you heard me correctly. I received permission from Professor Snape and Headmaster Dumbledore, not to worry.” She bustled around, and Neville followed as I dumped my bag on my desk.
“Today’s lesson will solely be focussed on studying the types of potions that Lykos roots play roles in. Arguably the most important of these being the Wolfsbane potion. Can either of you tell me every ingredient in a Wolfsbane potion? And how each ingredient reacts?”
-
“Hey.” I sat down with a huff and Harry nodded, mouth full of food.
“Hmph.” He chewed quickly. “Hey. You look right tired. You sure you’re sleeping okay?” Harry said, and I piled some fruit onto my plate.
“Yes, dad. I’m sleeping okay. This apprenticeship is just super intense.” Harry snickered.
“The apprenticeship, or your relationship with a certain Longbottom.” He said, and I death-glared him.
“For the last time, there is nothing going on between Neville and I.” I huffed again and chewed the handful of blueberries on my plate.
“Really? Then why did he ask if we were dating? Why did he ask if he could use the map?” Harry smirked and I rolled my eyes.
“You’re annoying. Remind me never to sit next to you again, will you?” Harry only laughed, and things were looking okay.
“I’m going to the library. You coming?” I said, and Harry shook his head quickly.
“After being forced to watch you and Neville flirt for almost an hour? I’d sooner watch Ron and Hermione.” We laughed as I stood up, my eyes going to the very pair. As usual, Ron was as red as a tomato. Surprisingly, Hermione was also blushing, making me wonder if they had heard him. My favourite spell revealed it was 6, and the library was open until 9 tonight.
I headed up, and before long found myself struggling to continue reading. Herbology of the 19th century sure could be a mood killer. Little was written about the Lykos root, and it seemed that this had been a complete waste of time. Well, I wouldn’t exactly call my nap a waste of time.
“Y/n,” I felt a gentle tug near my elbow. No one's hands were quite as soft as my favourite Gryffindor’s, and I sighed.
“Y/n it’s time for our apprenticeship again,” My head felt impossibly heavy to lift up, but another tug of my elbow forced me to open my eyes.
“Godric it feels like midnight,” I yawned. Neville simply nodded while stacking my books into a pile. “Really! I can get those,” I felt my face flushing as I reached for my books, but he gently swatted my hand away.
“It’s no trouble Y/n,” he smiled softly, and when our eyes met I knew I was in for it.
-
Another day, another lesson. Last night Sprout had promised that we would truly begin our notes for the Lykos roots in preparation of what was to come. Whatever it was, we were completely in the dark about it, Sprout was keeping it a secret.
“As you both have learned this past week the Lykos Root, which is an essential ingredient in Wolfsbane potion, will be maturing on the next full moon.” Professor Sprout lectured. I nod, hoping I look interested. “The full moon happens to be tomorrow, and I have an incredibly special opportunity for you both,” Neville, who is three steps ahead of me tonight, has a glowing look in his eyes. “Tomorrow night you will both camp out here and harvest the root. I recommend lots of blankets and hot chocolate,” Suddenly all of this registers, and it’s all I can do not to groan at another night of little sleep.
As we exited the green house Neville brushed my elbow. Strangely, I felt warm for a moment while he began talking to me.
“I can take care of the preparations for tomorrow,” he paused trying to gauge my reaction. “I’ve seen how hard you’ve been working. You know I’m taking less classes,”
As much as I want to jig and shout that of course he can do everything to get ready, I remember my manners.
“What if I take care of the snacks? I may or may not know exactly where the kitchens are,” I throw in a wink as a strange burst of energy powers me to the door of my common room. Being friends with Harry really does have its perks. Neville nods and waves goodnight, realising it’s rather late. For a moment I think he might want to say something else, but he simply turns on his heel.
-
That night I walked down to the greenhouse at twilight. The gentle rising rays of the moon kissed my face, and I felt something other than excitement rise in my stomach at the thought of harvesting these roots, an experience derived to many.
I could hear the echo of heavy footsteps, and when I turned around I saw Neville pop around a corner. He nearly stumbles on stray stones a couple times, but manages to stay upright.
“Hey,” I said quietly as he came closer.
“Hullo,” Neville grinned, and for a moment I found myself admiring his smile before I snapped out of it. He’s just Neville! I reprimand myself before tugging out the thermos I brought.
“I’ve got plenty of hot chocolate!” I said, blushing for an unknown reason.
“Ah, good,” he nodded. “I already set up the blankets and everything,” We enjoyed idle talk about his discoveries with the mimbulus mimbletonia until we reached the greenhouse.
There right next to the lykos root is a large pile of fluffy blankets and pillows of varying house colours. Candles were flying above the space similar to how they did in the great hall. This must have taken poor Neville ages.
“Wow,” I breathed as I pictured how well I could sleep here.
“Is it alright Y/n? I know it’s not as comfy as an actual bed, but it should be okay,” He hesitated, a blush gracing his cheeks. “I just set up one giant pile of blankets, but I can make a seperate one if you prefer. I’m sorry I know it’s awful!” He continued to ramble and blush until I cut him off.
“Neville!” He paused. “It looks lovely,” I found a warm blush on my cheeks as well.
“I’m glad you like it,” he whispered. We sat down on the cozy cushions and began to plan how best to handle the harvesting. Lykos root can only be harvested between midnight and 1 A.M during the full moon. However, there are a couple issues.
According to our research, the root is manageable until it is in direct moonlight, yet as soon as it is touched by a speck of moonlight, it begins to wriggle and attack. Once harvested, it must mature in the moonlight for two hours.
Unfortunately, there are tons of these plants, so it seems like we’ll have to work separately. Neville looked slightly disappointed once we decided this, and suggested that we do the first few together. I only nodded in response, my head still spinning from the effort Neville had put into our bedding situation.
Yet it is still about three hours before we can do anything with the plant. And we’ve already prepared the baskets that will hold the root with a magic barrier. I felt the warm air of the greenhouse inviting me to rest, and though I tried, I couldn’t hold back a yawn.
“You can rest if you want to y/n,” Neville said. Although it’s a tempting offer, my stubbornness wins out. That, and the strangely enticing thought of getting to spend more time with Neville.
“No, it’s alright. Let’s just talk or something so I can stay awake,” I said, and Neville seemed as happy as I was about my plan.
“Why do you love herbology so much?” Neville asked after a considerable silence. Naturally, I was dying to ask him the same question. Not many people were as dedicated to herbology as we were. Most kids squirm away from the dirt, flobberworms, and deadly plants.
“My grandma had the most beautiful garden,” I shared. There’s something about Neville that feels trustworthy. So even though I never usually share much about my family at all, I continue. “When my dad left, I ended spending a lot of time with her. And whenever,” I paused, feeling a little emotional, even though I’m not a crier. “Whenever I felt sad the garden was always there, reminding me that magic and love is real.” I sighed slightly. The love that my grandma put into that garden was the kind of love I longed to have from someone...
“That’s how I feel sometimes,” Neville responded looking a little teary. “I know my parents love me, but it’s- well it’s hard,” I could only nod. I’ve never been good at emotional discussions. I guess that’s a fault I have as a Ravenclaw, I approach everything analytically.
And so we continue to talk while we wait. Some of it about herbology, some about friends, some about our favourite colours. Neville is so easy to talk to. We have the longest conversation that I’ve probably had in a long time.
Luckily, the previous tempus charm I set alerts us that it’s time to begin the harvest. For the full hour we are both rushing around the greenhouse, careful not to step on each other’s toes. It’s a whirlwind of activity but somehow we harvest all of the roots.
Finally we’re able to lie down to sleep. Our different towers both look so far from here we agree to simply sleep in the blankets Neville brought down. We settle into our separate makeshift beds. Although it is so cramped, they are very nearly just one large bed. Letting a peaceful sleep wash over me, I slowly drift off.
-
The dawn sun filtered softly through the greenhouse windows. I didn’t want to open my eyes, and I didn’t know how long I was laying there, basking in the soft sunlight only provided by a sunrise. As I slowly became more aware of my surroundings, I remembered where I was, and the steady rise and fall of the chest below me. My eyes shoot open and I realise somehow Neville and I ended up a tangled mess of limbs throughout the night. I stood up as quickly as I could without waking him, and I slowly stretched. I didn’t want Neville waking up and getting the wrong idea.
Or would it be the right idea? Honestly it’s just too early for these kinds of thoughts. I folded up the Ravenclaw blankets I was meant to sleep in, and began to write a note for Neville. While I’m thinking of what to write, Neville’s sleepy voice calls out, and Godric did it make my heart race.
“Y/n, is it morning already?” He props his head up. The sun makes the pool of honey in his eyes glow brighter. A warm blush was already creeping up my neck so I turned away.
“Yeah Nev, it is. I’m just heading down to breakfast now.” I turned on my heel and made my way out, but before I could reach the door Neville interrupted me.
“Oh great! I’ll come too!” I smiled, although I’m not sure why! I certainly don’t have a crush on Neville Longbottom.
We rushed to the Great Hall, hungry from all of the work we did last night. I turned to sit at the Ravenclaw table, because right now I simply can’t face Harry.
“Morning Luna,” I smile slightly before grabbing a fresh croissant.
“You look chipper this morning,” Luna smiles. “I heard you had to study with Neville?” I nodded as my mouth was full of buttery croissant. “So when is your first date?” I nearly choked, so Luna patted my back firmly.
“Oh, er,” I stumbled. I shouldn’t be this nervous! But I don’t want to make Neville think I’ve been spreading rumours.
“Oh it’s just a crush!” Luna giggled. Looking at her I realise.. I don’t want to object. She tends to be right about these things, and I find that she is right again. Blushing even harder now, I mumbled about all of the homework I have. She only giggled again before taking a bite of her toast.
-
“Don’t look at me like that.” I sighed as I slid into my charms seat. Harry only raised his eyebrows higher, and I absentmindedly noticed Neville hadn’t arrived yet.
“He said you fell asleep under the stars. Do you realise how romantic and utterly adorable that is?” Harry continued to stare at me incredulously, and I pulled out my parchment paper.
“We fell asleep in a greenhouse because we were too tired to walk back to our towers. You’re starting to sound a little too much like our favourite reporter.” Harry wrinkled his nose at the mention of Skeeter, and I smiled as Neville sat down on the other side of me.
“Hey Y/n! You’ll never believe what just happened.” He exclaimed happily, and I didn’t miss the way Harry stared at me.
“What happened, Nev? Don’t tell me the Lykos root’s weren’t harvestable? I did not lose a good night’s sleep for nothing!” I sighed at the thought of having to harvest the roots for another night, but he shook his head.
“I saw Sprout at breakfast and she said that she had never seen Lykos roots harvested so well! She said she told Snape and that he’s going to be using all the plants from our greenhouse moving forward! Sprout said that there was a real possibility of us opening up an ingredient shop that specialises in plants!” He declared, and I stared, open mouthed. Snape, of all the professors, approved of our ingredients? I ignored Harry’s eye roll and I cheered.
“This is awesome, Nev!” I high-fived him, and he grinned back.
“Have you considered doing advanced potions? That would really help if you were planning on becoming a supplier.” I asked, and he shook his head.
“If anyone but Snape were the teacher, I definitely would.” He said, and I got a strange flashback to third year. More specifically, to Neville’s boggart.
“I totally get it! You never know, maybe we’ll get a new teacher next year. It’ll be okay.” I faced the front as Flitwick began his lesson, and I felt Neville’s arm brush mine. I smiled softly, and nudged it back. Maybe it would be okay.
I stood at the exit of our shop, our very own creation, and slowly flipped the open sign to closed.
“Can you believe we did it?” Neville’s arms were wrapped around my waist, and he leaned his head on my shoulder. We watched in comfortable silence as the witches and wizards gradually apparated out of Diagon Alley for the day. When the last witch vanished, I turned to face him.
“If I’m honest? Absolutely not.” I laughed into the chaste kiss that he gave me, and we wandered further into our shop, our little dream.
“Do you want to do the cash float?” He asked, and I wrinkled my nose.
“My dear, sweet Nev. You know that I’d rather work at Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes for a month than do the cash float. I’ll take inventory stock.” He kissed me again, and I smiled.
Never would I have thought I would be so happy with life as this. Never would I have thought I would be so loved.
Never would I have thought that a perfect night would be a supper with Neville, followed by cuddles on our worn maroon couch.
Never would I have thought that Neville Longbottom was my soulmate. I wouldn’t live a life with anyone but him.
Tumblr media
“Another cup of coffee? I see you've found a whole new appreciation for the beverage, love. Is this the third one today? That's more times than we've talked to each other today.”
You would be lying majorly if you said that you didn't smile the second you heard the soft accented voice, more than you had smiled in the past eight hours. A smile that was only accompanied by a weight lifting off your shoulders. It seemed like whenever you looked at the man your day got ten times better and it definitely had nothing to do with your feelings for him. Not at all... or maybe a little bit. On the other hand your costar and great friend was probably one of the kindest and most considerate people you'd met, so it would be impossible for such a sweet person as Tom to not brighten your day just by giving you a smile.
However, these days had been a lot more than just hard on you, that really even Tom's bright smile and comforting gaze couldn't do enough to make it better. And even more, to give you the sleep you so desperately needed but couldn't find.
“Why, yes. I have never appreciated it as much as now. It seems almost like I've just fallen in love.” you closed your eyes for a small peaceful seconds when he kissed your temple, finding such comfort and relaxation that it surprised you very much pleasantly.
“Ah so you've replaced me? Oh the pain!” he placed a hand over his chest a little bit too dramatically that you couldn't help but chuckle. It came out a little more nervous than you'd like mostly because of how his words made your heart skip a beat or two. Despite your worn-out body and tired, sleep-deprived brain, the effect this man could have on you was unparalleled.
“So it seems. Unfortunately you've been dethroned. The first place in my heart belongs to coffee now.” you raised your cup, smiling before you took a large sip and folding the papers with script for the scene you were supposed to be filming in three hours, you placed them neatly away. It wasn't as if you had been able to read past the same first sentence anyway.
Still with a smile on your lips, much softer, you said “Careful though, if Mark or Scarlett hear us right now there will be nosaving this, I'm telling you.”
“Odin help us.” his eyes widened and he looked around frantically “I sure hope they're not anywhere near. There would be no hearing the end of it. For all I know, they will bring it up on some interview. They even have gotten matching T-shirts which I hope I don't see, either. Something about shipping us and-” but his words came to a halt when he noticed the frown that had set upon your own face. It was so subtle – or maybe present 24/7 the past couple days to the point people and stopped ignoring it or maybe, you believed, they didn't get to notice it in the first place. Being an actress and spending so much time filming not one but two of the biggest and most demanding movies in the past ten years in the MCU meant that not many had the chance to notice let alone consider the reasons why you were so exhausted these days. Not many... but certainly one.
“Feeling tired again, darling?” he asked softly, voice even more soothing and calm than before, as he pressed his palm to your cheek.
“Wha- Uh.” you shook your head, trying to give him a reassuring smile “No. I only zoned out for a second, sorry. I'm fine, I'm really fine. See, I've got my two loves right here with me. What else can a girl need?”
“While I am flattered or maybe a lot more than that, I'd much rather ignore my skipping heartbeat for the moment and... hear you say the truth this time.” you almost couldn't comprehend what he was asking from you because his own words managed to make your heart skip beats and you blessed this man for making you feel more alive than you had in the past three days “You look terrible, darling. Don't get me wrong, you're always ravishing but- Have you been getting any sleep lately? I feel scared sometimes that you're going to pass out a-and at first I thought you were only stressed – which got me just as worried – but then you stopped being as focused, you're constantly silent a-nd look like you might pass out any given moment. You look... exhausted. And it just... breaks my heart to see you like this.”
“You're far too good for me, you know that?” you looked at him through your lashes, biting your lower lip but he only shook his head.
He sighed softly “I'd rather say it's the other way round. But we're not talking about that, are we?”
“No, I think we're rather talking about how jealous you are of this coffee replacing you in my heart.” you said with a smile that felt too light and not just as tired as every other one these days.
“And as I previously said, I'm terribly hurt and I will definitely fight to gain my place back on the first spot by all means necessary.But you still are avoiding the topic, dear.” his smile fluttered a bit “So I am only going to ask you. Is everything alright? Are you alright? Is something troubling you o-or is there a problem you'd... like to talk about? You know I'm always here for you and if I could help in any way, I'd very much love to. I- I know it's possibly not my place to ask because I'm really no more than a colleague-”
“Tom” you couldn't help the gasp that left your lips, your eyes all-but-widening “Do you really believe that?”
It seemed like he did have his doubts, yes, and seeing you feel so shocked over his words managed to earn a smile from him as he nodded his head and corrected “I apologize. No. I do think after two years we're more than just that. And even if I don't really know my place-” he let out a small shaky breath “I still do want to know what's troubling you so much and if, in any way, I can help.”
“It's not anything too bad, Tom. Really, not something you should worry yourself with. I-” you scoffed a small laugh “I doubted anyone would notice to be honest. Nobody else had so far.”
“Well, I sure hope I'm not somebody else, for one. And for another-” he slowly took the cup of coffee from your hand “I do really care. Care for you. And care to know. That's why I pay attention.”
It wasn't as if you really had much strength in you to fight, given how tired you were all the time, but when it came to Tom things got even harder. One look at those blue eyes and you found that every part of your will slipped away. You secretly thought he knew it and used it to his advantage every time he could.
“It's not someth-” you shook your head, stopping yourself “I really shouldn't bother you with this. It's not that important. There's nothing to-”
“It is to me if it concerns you. And there clearly is something. Love-” he took your hand in yours, locking fingers with yours and brining it to his lips to kiss the back of it “Tell me.”
“You know-” you felt your throat close, tears welling up in your eyes from all the stress that had piled up the past couple days “You're making it really hard for me to say no to you lately. And that's not good. Not good at all.”
“Well, although I'm not really a fan of it, I think it best sums up things: Eye for an eye hm?”
Biting your lip, you looked down at your hands before letting a small sigh of defeat “I'm only incredibly nervous about my upcoming scenes. There. I said it. And it sounds as stupid out loud as it did in my head.”
“Oh darling.” you took notice of the smile forming on his lips, sympathetic and certainly very relieved but at the same time caring as always. You, however, couldn't stand to think that he'd laugh at you so you tore your eyes away from him and biting your lip you finally managed to mumble a soft sentence.
“Don't laugh at me. What with my character having a bigger part in the story and what with Kevin saying he wants me to lead the new phase- which, I never even asked for by the way, it's not really easy on my sanity and therefore sleep a-and now it's been- Gosh, I've lost count of the nights I haven't slept and it's all piling up because I- I can't sleep at night but I also have to stay awake at ay because of filming and therefore drink so much coffee that it's not healthy but I know I have to in order to-”
“Whow whow. No. No, no no. (Y/n)-” before you could even comprehend it, you felt a pair of hands cup your face only to force you to look into Tom's impossibly blue eyes “Love, I would never laugh for something like this. Especially something like this. It's just that- You never cease to amaze me, dear. Gosh, you are truly incredible, do you know that?”
“Tom... it's not nice to make fun of your friends, you know.” you mumbled, even more weakly than before as your eyes casted down for a few seconds.
“I'm not! I could never be, dear, you know me. It's just that-” he shook his head softly, letting only a moment of silence pass – a moment that really peaked your interest if you were entirely honest – before you felt a pair of lips press on your forehead and you couldn't fight the small sigh of content that escaped your own lips “You are so wonderful. The love you have for what you do, the passion and energy you put into it that, while I don't approve of you exhausting yourself, is something so beautiful to watch because in the end you create real art with your very own being. All of the acting, every scene, is also a part of you that you are about to give to the world and it amazes me.”
“Alright-” you were biting your lip to keep yourself from smiling like an idiot but you were failing miserably both at that and at not blushing bright red at his words “That sounds a lot better than what I said.”
Your words earned a soft chuckle from him but they didn't manage to wipe out all of his worry. Taking a better look at him you noticed his eyebrows had pulled into a frown once more, although less obvious this time. “It's not really any better, though. You're going to fall down if you keep going like this.”
“I'm doing well so far, aren't I? There's no need to make such an issue out of this, Tommy.” despite how touching it was to see him care so deeply for you, you didn't want to burden him with your problems so instead you tried to put on a small smile and make it as believable as possible before adding “But if you want to make this fun, we can bet on how long it will take me to fall down. I'm sure I could last-”
“I'm not going to make fun of it because it is not something to be taken lightly. Not to me. As a matter of fact, I-” you would have gotten completely distracted – especially in your light-headed sleep-deprived state – by the way his fingers slipped so casually and easily between yours and lingered, just a few long seconds that had your heart leaping to your throat, but you were more than alert when you felt your cup of coffee slip from your grasp as he took it away. Your eyes widened and a small gasp left your lips at the same time. He completed with “Am gonna do much more.” but you didn't have a mind for that.
“No, Tom!” you reached for it but he he held the cup further away from you “Tommy, please.”
“Starting with this. You don't need any more coffee than you've already had. It's bad for your health, especially if we consider the fact that you haven't eaten more than half a sandwich all day. And yes, I've noticed. As I told you, I pay attention to the things that matter to me.” you would have melted at the caring tone in his voice and probably just kissed the living heaven out of him right then and there but he was still mercilessly holding your coffee away from you and it didn't make things easy for you.
“Tommy, give me my coffee back. Please, I need it!” you pleaded with him, trying to give him the most adorable puppy eyes you could master “I won't be able to go for the rest of the day without it.”
“I'm pretty sure that everyone would say that you will in fact make it if you don't have this coffee. And to make sure of it-” before you even had the chance to protest you watched the man drop the cup into the closest bin, earning a squeak of surprise barely even a yelp before you watched him turn back to you with a satisfied smile “There. No more coffee for today.”
“But Tom, I-” you let a small whine “I'm gonna fall down without that. I need the caffeine to keep me awake!”
“Oh no, the exact opposite. The caffeine is what's going to make you fall down. You're not looking out for your health and diet and with the lack of sleep I don't even want to think of what could come.” this time he used a more stern voice that made you look down like a kid being scolded “And I'm going to do anything I can to make sure that it doesn't. Starting now. You have some time before your next scene, am I right?” he asked and you gave him a hesitant nod “Good, then we're going to make most of it. Come here.”
“Wha-” you didn't really try hard to protest against him taking hold of your hand, but still frowned when he led you towards one of the small armchairs that was part of the set that you were going to have a scene in next. However, a gasp escaped your lips when he sat down and, still holding your hand, he dragged you with him and before you could understand it you were falling on his lap.
“Tom!” you squeaked out, eyes all wide and you prayed that at least your face wasn't bright red despite how hot it felt “What are you-”
“I said I'm looking out for you. At least more than I usually am. I've taken it upon myself to make you feel better, get over your problems and have a good night's sleep again. And we're getting started right now. Don't think this will be the end of it because I'm very stubborn as you may know, so be prepared for more time with yours truly. Like, a lot more. In and out of set. You won't get rid of me easily.” you couldn't say that sounded like the best thing in the world out loud, not when you were holding your own breath.
“While I'm not protesting to that... What does that have to do with, well, this?”
“Simple.” he smiled, wrapping his arms around your middle, letting you lean on his side “You have time, just about right enough for a quick nap and more often than not, having another source of heat like another body of someone you're comfortable with, helps a lot. So that's what you're going to do until it's time for filming. Or at least try to. Even if you get thirty minutes, it's worth it.”
“I don't doubt your magic, but Tommy, seriously? Anybody could walk in! How are you going to explain this to them? It's not really the most professional thing to-”
“Alright let me stop you right there because you're rambling without a single breath and that's not a way to relax. Deep breath first. Deep breath, (Y/n).” he gave you a stern look and you did as told, despite the small roll of your eyes “Good. And if anyone has any questions I'll be the one to answer, not you. Not that anybody will hold it against you, you know everyone loves you. Unless you have a problem them thinking something else of this perhaps...?” he raised a small eyebrow but you shook your head.
“No, no of course not Tommy... Unless it's Mark or Scarlett that runs into us we're safe.”
“Then let's hope they don't. I value your sleep more than anything else though, so I don't know if I'm going to engage in any conversations though. Much less try to avoid what they'll have coming.”
“Sleep, yeah.” you scoffed with a fond smile, resting your head on his shoulder “As if that's even a possibility, Tommy. We both know it, you're wasting your time here.”
“No I'm not. Even if you don't get to sleep we both know it's worth the effort and far from a waste of time to be with you. And stop calling me Tommy, it's distracting the way you say it and I don't plan on sidetracking. You are going to besleeping here, no matter what.” he kissed the top of your head and this time you let your smile show.
“While I don't mean to doubt you, and you're exceptional soft and comfy, it's nearly impossible for me to relax.” you whispered although you had slowly but surely started losing track of yours words. His thumb had started rubbing soothing circles on your back, making your heart rate slow down to such a degree that you couldn't believe how calm you were already feeling. It seemed that with the combination of his soothing voice, soft cologne and warm body you really had no way of escaping it.
“Dare you say I'm not qualified enough for cuddles?”
“Oh no, by all means.” you giggled and it took a couple seconds for your brain to register how sleepy that giggle was and that you had et a pause way longer than expected to follow, as if zoning out or as if – surprisingly so – fading in and out of sleep “You're the perfect pillow. Soon... they'll be looking around for you because... because I'll steal you away for... personal use. You'll... be my extra pillow... from now on. If... I ever manage... to fall asleep... again.”
You hadn't realized it that each pause lasted longer and that your eyes lingered closed even more with each blink. Your breathing was slowly becoming more even too.
“Then I'll gladly be your pillow... for the rest of your life.” he only whispered as he kissed the top of your head, no other thought in his head but how much he loved you.
One day he'd get to tell you too.
You groaned as you flailed your hand around, trying to silence your annoying ass alarm clock. It was 4:30 in the morning, and to say you weren’t a morning person was an understatement.
You didn’t understand why you had to get up so early in the morning when the shop didn’t open until seven, but that was Chuck for you, always trying to ruin your peace. You didn’t mind your boss; when he stayed out of the way, that is.
You quickly got dressed, fed and watered you cat, giving him some belly rubs, before heading out the door. You didn’t live that far away from the shop, only a five minute drive, but you decided to walk there pretty much every morning. It was good exercise.
You jiggled the key in the lock before swinging the doors open. The smell of old books comforted you. It was always one of your favorite things. If you could bottle the smell and make a candle, then your life would be complete.
You began to set up for the day, grinding coffee beans, getting the display case ready, wiping down counters, the works. You knew the store didn’t get it’s rush hour until at least nine o’clock, so you had plenty of time to yourself. You connected your phone to the speakers in the store and began to play some of your favorite songs.
If you were being honest, you loved having the place to yourself. While you loved social interactions and talking to people, there was something about the tranquil environment of a coffee shop that just made you feel content.
You knew it was going to be busier than usual, since it was a Monday and everyone needed their morning coffee before going to work. Once you were finished setting up, you got out your backpack and began working on your homework. You were currently attending the University of Kansas, trying to get your Masters degree in chemistry.
You would have gone to a more prestigious if you could have afforded it. But UK was the best you were going to get. Plus, it wasn’t all that bad, as you had made some new friends there. Your best friend, Jo Harvelle, you had know since you were ten years old. She worked along side you in the coffee shop, and she should have been here ten minutes ago.
“Jesus Jo.” You muttered under your breath, looking at your phone. “Why is she always so damn late.” You went ahead and clocked in for her, because if Chuck saw that she was half an hour late, he was going to fire her. Again.
“I’m here! I’m here!” She exclaimed, rushing through the doors. “Sorry I’m late. I overslept.”
“Yeah, yeah. Just put on your apron and get to work. These coffee’s aren’t going to make themselves."
Jo gave you a mock salute and got to work. Like you thought, the line was pretty long. You and Jo rushed to get out orders and clean up as you went. Around 12, it finally died down.
"Thank god it won't be that busy tomorrow. Tuesday's one of our slower days." Jo huffed as she leaned against the counter.
"Okay, you never told me. . . Why in the hell were you so late today?!" You cuffed Jo, who glared at you.
"Well, if you must know, Y/n, I was having a sleepover." She winked.
"With who this time?" You rolled your eyes.
"I don't actually remember." She admitted. "But he was hot." You snorted at her comment. Since there was hardly anyone there, you decided to sit down on one of the plush arm chairs and start your homework. You had midterms in two weeks, and you were stressing majorly.
"Jeez, Y/n. You're no fun." Jo complained.
"I'll be more fun once midterms are over. Until then, you get Grumpy Y/n." You flipped to the next page of your textbook.
A bell sounded through the store, signaling that someone had just entered. "Oh my god." Jo whispered.
"What?" You asked, furrowing your eyebrows.
"That's the hot guy I slept with last night. And I kinda just left without telling him this morning." You felt your jaw drop.
“You’re kidding!” You hissed. “Jo, you told him where you work?”
“No!” She defended herself. “No, I didn’t. Look, he’s nice and all, but I really don’t wanna talk to him. I kinda just wanted last night to be a one time thing and never see him again.”
“Fine. Go into the back and start cleaning up while I take his order.” Jo threw you a grateful look as she quickly fled into the kitchen.
You stood up and made your way over to the counter, and boy, was Jo right. The man was very handsome. The first thing you noticed was his emerald green eyes. It was one of his most beautiful features. Although he was gorgeous all around.
“Hi! Welcome to Chuck’s, what can I get for you today?” You gave him a friendly smile.
“Uh, just a large Americano, please.”
You narrowed your eyes at him slightly. “Let me guess, you’re used to crappy diner coffee, right?”
The man chuckled, scratching the side of his face. “Yeah. How’d you guess?”
“You seemed kind of hesitant in ordering, plus, Americano’s are disgusting.” You scrunched up your nose.
“Alright, what do you suggest then?”
“Hmm. . .” You looked the man up and down, trying to see what type of coffee would best suit him. “An Irish coffee. You seem like the type to drink whiskey, am I right?”
“Yeah.” He seemed skeptical.
“Alright. One large Irish coffee, coming right up. What’s the name for that?”
“Dean.” You nodded as you wrote down his name on the cup. As you were brewing the coffee, you heard a loud crash coming from the kitchen. You quickly set aside what you were doing and ran to the back.
“Jo?” You called. Your best friend looked at you sheepishly as there were scattered cups on the floor. “Jesus Christ woman, you almost gave me a heart attack.”
“Is everything okay back here?” Dean asked, rushing into see the two women. “I heard a crash and wanted to make sure everything was okay.”  His eyes widened in surprised as he looked at Jo. “Jo, hey.” He cleared his throat awkwardly.
“Oh, hey, uh-” Jo stumbled.
“Dean.” You whispered.
“Dean. Right, I knew that.”
“No, you didn’t.” Jo glared at you as she hit the back of your head.
“I’m just gonna go and wait for my coffee.” As soon as he was out of ear shot, you bursted out laughing.
“Oh shut up!”
You continued laughing as you went back to the counter. “I’m sorry for laughing.” You apologized in between breaths. “It’s just. . . Jo’s my best friend and she always looks for a chance to embarrass me, so whenever I get the chance to embarrass her, I take it.”
Dean cracked a smile. “Yeah, I’m like that with my brother.”
“I have a brother too.” You said, continuing to brew Dean’s coffee. “He’s five years older than me. Treats me like I’m a child.”
“It’s an older brother thing.” He grinned, leaning on the counter. “I act like I know more than him just because I’m older. It’s a complex.”
“Alright, here’s your Irish coffee.” You smiled, handing him the drink.
He took a small sip of the coffee, fully prepared to be hit with bitterness. He was pleasantly surprised to find that he liked the taste. It wasn’t too bitter or sweet, and the Irish Whiskey was a great bonus. “Wow, this is great.”
“Thanks, I’ve been trying out some new blends. I hope to convince my boss to add some new stuff to the board. But he’s a pain in my ass.” Dean chuckled.
“Well, I’ll definitely be back. This is much better than that crappy diner coffee.” Once Dean was gone, you called out to Jo, telling her that it was safe to come out.
“Well, that was awkward.” As Jo went to hit you again, you grabbed her wrist. “I love you, but I swear, the next time you hit me, I’ll hit you back.” Jo held her hands up in surrender, knowing full well that you would keep your promise.
Around three o’clock, you clocked out, finally going home for the day. You were exhausted and just wanted to get home to your cat, Storm. The days were getting shorter and the nights were getting cooler. It was becoming fall, the leaves were changing to a beautiful orange-red color, and every store you went inside smelled like pine cones.
You unlocked the door to your apartment, setting down your keys and bag on the small table by the door. You clicked your tongue, calling out to your cat. He came instantly, wrapping his body around your ankle. “Hey, Storm. Did you have a good day?” Storm purred loudly as he continued to weave back and forth in between your legs.
You refilled Storms food bowl before going to sit down on the couch. You will still crunching for midterms, and it was awful, to say the least. You were hardly retaining anything that you were reading. Nothing seemed to be sticking.
You sighed as you threw your textbook aside. Instead of studying like you should have been, you decided to call your friend, Jack. You, Jack and Jo had been friends since you were kids, all going to the same elementary school. Granted, your parents had forced you to spend time together, but you grew to be close friends.
“Hey, Y/n!” Jack’s face popped up on the screen. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you too.” You smiled. “I feel like we haven’t talked in ages. Ever since you decided to go to college in North Carolina. Duke sucks, by the way.”
Jack laughed, his honey blond hair falling in his eyes. “Duke does not suck, I’ll have you know. It’s one of the most prestigious schools in the south.”
“Oh yeah, because the south is soooo great.” You teased.
“It is great, Y/n. Once you get past the bipolar weather, it’s nice. The food and drinks are amazing too.”
“Well, you better be getting your ass over here for Christmas. I haven’t seen you in months. Jo and I miss you a lot.”
“Speaking of Jo, how’s she doing? Does she still arrive ‘fashionably late’ to everything?”
“Duh.” You snorted. “Have you met Joanna Beth Harvelle?”
“Sadly.” He muttered.
“Don’t act like you don’t love her. She may be an annoying bitch, but she’s our annoying bitch.” You both laughed, genuine smiles on your faces. It had been so long since you actually smiled. For months now, it felt like you had been drowning in the ocean, trying to break the surface, but never quite reaching it. You could hear other people around you talking, laughing, out living your life while you just stayed stuck.
You had so desperately wanted your senior year of college to be normal, to return to normal, at least. You wanted to enjoy everything that the last year of college had to offer. You wanted to get wasted at parties, hook up with hot guys, or girls, you didn’t really care. You just wanted to be happy, but things were so much more complicated than that.
“Okay, I really hate to leave so soon, but I have a date tonight.” Jack seemed proud of himself. He was awkward when it came to the female species, aside from you and Jo, he never really talked to other girls. He could never seem to say the right things to them, and it always turned out weird.
You pouted, sticking out your lip. “Aww, okay. Well, as soon as it’s over, call me. I want to know how it went.”
“Will do. Bye, Y/n. Love you.”
“Love you too.” And just like that, you were left alone with your thoughts again.
