The arrivals area of the airport was practically bursting at the seams, everywhere you looked there were multiple bodies darting around the large room. Everyone was in their own world, hunting for their bags and family, ready to start the festivities that would follow over the next couple of days.
Reaching up you tugged the hood of your boyfriend's hoodie further over your cap before making sure your three year old’s hood was still covering her face, she was fast asleep in your arms, soft snores escaping her lips every so often, the flight completely wiped her out and honestly you were happy about that. For the past couple of days she had been a little terror, but in all fairness it was all due to excitement of getting to see her ‘Char Char’ again. Over the last couple of months fans had started to raise their suspicions about you and the monegasque driver. He had started soft launching you on his social media and you knew that one day the world would have to know you two were dating. But your main concern was your daughter, she was too young to understand what was going on, all she knew was the love she held for Mummy’s boyfriend.
Somehow you managed to spot Arthur amongst the crowd, you couldn’t help but roll your eyes at the youngest Leclerc, his disguise was shocking and he was lucky to now get trampled in the busy airport. Shaking the thoughts out of your mind you slowly pushed your way through the crowded room. Dropping your gaze you realized that Arthur had grabbed your suitcases meaning that your escape was going to be quick and hopefully uneventful.
“Comment s'est déroulé le vol ? How was the flight?” The youngest Lecerc beamed, reaching out to take Alice from you. The movement caused her to stir, pulling her tiny fists to her eyes, the moment she realized it was Arthur holding her it was like someone had flipped a switch and she was wide awake.
“Arta,” she giggled, placing her hand on his cheek. She had always struggled to pronounce his name but he really didn’t care.
“Hi, my sweet girl,” he hummed, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Let’s get the two of you back home, Maman is so excited to see you.”
The journey back to his car was relatively quick, he had managed to secure a really good parking space right near the main doors. The moment he opened the back door of the car my heart melted when I saw the brand new car seat secured onto the back seat of Pascales’ car. “Maman wanted her little bear to be safe, and she said she had a feeling you would be spending a lot more time in Monaco.” Arthur chuckled, looking over his shoulder flashing me a warm smile.
“Let’s not rush,” you hummed, slowly pushing the hood of Charles’ hoodie down before climbing into the front seat of the car, “We haven’t been together for a year yet.”
“Yet I have never seen my brother so happy,” he grinned, double checking the seatbelt was secured before he quickly made his way to the driver's seat. “God, he is gonna be so happy to see you.”
Nothing could wipe the smile off your face as Arthur backed out of the parking space, making his way towards the exit of the car park. “I’m honestly surprised how we have all managed to keep this a secret,” you hummed, resting your head against the window of the car. The sounds of giggles from the back seat filling the small space, “especially Alice, she's been so excited to see you all.”
The journey from the airport didn’t take long and the moment you stepped foot into the Leclerc household you were pounced on by Pascale. “Oh my dear, it is so good to see you,” she beamed, practically crushing your ribs with how tight she was hugging you. “Char will be home within the next ten minutes.”
Your heart started racing at the thought of him walking through the door with no knowledge you were here. You couldn’t wait to see him, this would be your first Christmas together and hopefully the first of many.
Charles abruptly came into your life one rainy day in the UK, to this day you still felt some embarrassment from the day you met. Alice was two and she decided it was a good idea to run away from you in a busy park. She went sprinting across the field, she had spotted Charles before you had, screaming his name before barging into him causing him to spill his iced coffee down himself. But instead of being angry he smiled softly at my daughter before chasing after her causing her giggles to echo around the park.
Pushing the memory to the back of your mind, you followed Pascale into the kitchen, taking a seat at the kitchen table whilst Arthur chased Alice around the house. You found myself fumbling with the sleeves of Charles’ hoodie. You had never done anything like this before so my hands were starting to get clammy, what if he didn’t want you here? What if you had made a mistake? Was it too soon to be spending Christmas with him and his family?
Because your mind was spinning you didn’t notice the man you were worrying about was currently standing in the doorway. Taking a deep breath you finally looked up when you heard someone cough from across the room. The corners of your lips tugged into a wide smile as you let your gaze scan over your man leaning against the door frame. His green eyes glistened with happiness as he saw you sitting at the kitchen table.
“Hi,” you breathed, slowly pushing yourself to your feet.
Charles couldn’t believe what he was seeing, he had no idea you were coming to Monaco but he was happy to see you standing in the kitchen of his childhood home.
“When did you get here?” he whispered, scared if he spoke too loudly then you would disappear and this was just a figment of his imagination.
“I actually only got here about fifteen minutes ago,” you giggled, closing the gap between the two of you. The moment you got within arms reach of him, he wasted no time in pulling you into his chest, squeezing you tight, never wanting to let you go.
“Êtes-vous ici pour Noël ? Are you here for Christmas?” he whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Thought we could start some new traditions, you, me and Alice,” you responded, looking up, resting your hand against his cheek. “Make some better Christmas memories for the two of us.”
Before Charles could respond we were attacked by the little terror that was my three year old daughter. “Char Char,” she screamed, trying to climb him like a tree.
He quickly pulled away from the hug to scoop her up in his arms, the moment she was high enough he pressed a small kiss to the end of her nose, causing her giggles to echo around the room. Nothing could wipe the smile off Charles’ face, he had both his girls with him on his favorite season of the year. The distance was starting to kill him, all he wanted was both of you by his side as he traveled the world, that was his Christmas wish this year.
“I missed you, Princess,” he whispered, brushing some of her loose curls away from her eyes.
“Missed you more, Char Char,” she whispered back, resting her small hand on his cheek. You felt tears threatening to spill over your lash line. Charles had completely changed your life for the better, he treated your daughter as if she was his own and there never went a day where he didn’t shower either of you in love. “Can we go and see Santa?” Alice asked, widening her eyes and fluttering her eyelashes at Charles.
“I can’t think of anything better, Princess,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head before placing her on the ground and watching her sprint towards the front door.
“You willing to stand in line for hours, waiting to see someone dressed as the big man?” you hummed in amusement, tucking your hands into the back pocket of our jeans. “You know there is a chance we will get spotted.”
The smirk on his face melted your heart and if it wasn’t for the fact you were leaning against the counter top, you swore your knees would have given out on you. “You and Alice are my entire world, babygirl and I don’t want to hide that away anymore.” he whispered, closing the gap between the two of you, planting his hands on your hips. “I want to start new traditions with you, Y/N. And if the first one is making sure that every year Alice gets to go see Santa, followed by a walk around a Christmas market with hot chocolate.”
“That sounds perfect, Mr Leclerc,” you giggled, brushing your noses against his.

daisies - f1 driver x engineer!fem char
warnings: none, angst, nothing f1 related explicitly mentioned but implied, driver can be whoever you want, enjoy! this is my first piece of writing so any feedback is greatly appreciated!!
It was always the flowers. Everything came back to the flowers. Every single moment shared was somehow linked to them.
One daisy.
He had showed up to her place, knocking on the door quietly, but with a sense of urgency that left her wondering who was at the door. It was the weekend, and she was traveling for her job, which she did constantly. Not that she was complaining though. She loved her job, the thrill of knowing she was a part of something so big was an adrenaline rush. It was amazing.
She was on the couch, looking over some data on her computer when four short knocks echoed through the hotel room. Furrowing her eyebrows, she stood up, dusting off some crumbs from the snack she had been indulging in. Opening the door, she was met with him. He was wearing a black hoodie with some grey sweats but the most striking thing in that moment was what was in his hand. A single daisy. His smile widened, the one that many were used to seeing, as he held out the flower to her.
“Hey,” he grinned as she took the flower, spinning it between her fingers to observe it. “Can I come in?”
“I thought I said no date?” she asked pointedly, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t date people I work with. Especially not…”
“Are you really working with me, per se?” he countered, a smug expression on his face. His dimples were visible as she enjoyed the sound of his accent. “C’mon, we just had a win today. Let’s just chill.”
She rolled her eyes, but a small smile formed on her face. Technically it was a podium, but whatever. “Fine,” she conceded. “But this is not a date.” She pointed a finger at him, but he merely pushed it away.
“Agree to disagree,” he shrugged, glancing at her computer. “Data from today?” She nodded, slightly embarrassed for no apparent reason.
“Yeah, just going over some things,” she responded quietly. “Anyways, I have some pasta cooking right now, does that work?”
“Perfect” he beamed. She went to the fridge, about to pull out a bottle of wine and two glasses before he stopped her. “I’ll pass on the wine today, already had enough champagne from the podium.”
“You’re just not going to let it go that you got a podium, are you?” she asked, an amused expression on her face as she went and got two cans of LaCroix. “Does this meet your high standards, podium boy?”
“I believe it does,” he smiled back, and this was a side to him, she realized, that she could get used to. “So, tell me a little bit about yourself.”
A handful of daisies.
On the marble counter was a white vase with some daisies as she walked by. By now, his apartment was a common sight, though she didn’t want to fully commit to living together just yet. She didn’t want to tie herself down, and she relished her independence. But at the same time, she loved spending time with him, her boyfriend. He had asked the question a few months back, during a dinner reminiscent of their first date together, and she had happily agreed.
Since then, it had been a whirlwind of the honeymoon phase. Travelling, dates, smiles, everything was perfect. Now, it was Monday and the two of them flopped onto the couch, jet lag kicking after coming back from a busy weekend.
He laid his head in her lap, her fingers threading through his brown curls. She smiled, humming absentmindedly as she read the book in her hands. “Whatcha reading?” he asked, eyes still closed.
“Just a cute little romance novel,” she responded, still reading. He paused for a moment, not saying anything, making her think he had fallen asleep.
“You know, if my life was a book, you’d be the best part,” he mumbled, sparkling grayish green eyes meeting hers. She felt her heart flutter as she closed her book.
“You stole that from that Daniel Caesar song,” she scoffed, a stupid grin on her face. “I still love you though.” She freezes, having not anticipated saying that. They hadn’t said yet, but she had thought it quite a few times. She studied his face, watching for his reaction.
“I love you too,” he smiled, pulling her down so that they were laying on the couch facing each other. Reaching over to pull her closer, she felt herself relax into his touch and grinned as he pecked a kiss to her cheek. At that moment, she knew he was going to be the one.
Ripped daisy petals.
She slammed her hand down on the counter, fed up. “I keep telling you, why are you so scared of us being public?” she snapped. Glaring at him, she dared for a rebuttal.
“I want to protect us, the media is brutal,” he retorted, stance mirroring her hostile one.
She gave him a pointed look. “That doesn’t mean you have to go out with models all the time!” she shouted, jabbing a finger towards him.
“It’s to keep up my appearance,” he protested. “So they don’t catch on.” She sighed in annoyance.
“Well what if I want them to catch on?” she practically screamed, eyes glaring daggers. “Do you know how hard it is to go on social media and see my boyfriend with a model who’s infinitely prettier than me?”
“This is best for us!” he yelled, frustration laced in his tone. “Don’t you see that?”
She snorted. “Best for who?” she questioned. “Because it seems awfully suspicious that you just so happen to hang out with a lot of models instead of me.”
He gave her an incredulous look. “You think I’m cheating?”
“I don’t know anymore,” she muttered, crossing her arms over her chest. “I just want us to be public but there seems to be something stopping you.”
“If you can’t trust me, I don’t know how this is going to work,” he said.
“Because it won’t,” she responded flatly. “All I’m asking is for one thing that means a lot to me. I can’t do this anymore. I can’t keep putting you first and I can’t even trust you, for God’s sake.” His jaw dropped open, eyes widening at her resolute tone.
“Wait, no,” he pleaded. “We can work this out, this sounds too much like a break up.”
“It is a break up.” With those five words, she watched as his face fell, tears welling up in her own eyes. Struggling to keep her voice even, she pointed at the door. “Just- get out of my apartment.” He hesitated, but after seeing her expression, headed to the door. Giving her a glance, he walked out, closing the door behind him.
Only now was when she allowed the tears to flow down her face, sobbing as she sank down against the kitchen counter. Nine months, all wasted. She thought he cared about her; apparently not. Next to her, she saw the shattered vase and daisies strewn on the ground. She had knocked off in her anger. Now, she reached for a flower, a piece of porcelain pricking her finger. She ignored the blood starting to bead up around her finger as she stared at the daisy, heart shattering at all the memories. Anger boiling up again, she grabbed a petal, ripping it off and throwing it to the ground. She kept going until she was surrounded by ripped petals, her heart broken like the vase and bleeding like her finger as tears streamed down her face.
A bouquet of daisies.
It was another weekend of traveling as she stepped out of the elevator. It had been a week or two after her break up, and thanks to her job, she still had to work in proximity with him. Every single time she saw him, all she felt was pain. She thought she was strong enough, but it hurt. Like hell. It was Saturday now, and she only had to go through tomorrow before she wouldn’t have to be around him all the time.
She opened up the door to her hotel room, not expecting the lights to be on as she closed the door behind her. The smell of pasta filled the air, but she was only focused on glaring at the person in front of her.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, voice cold as she scowled at the man in a suit in front of her. “Who let you in here? I’m going to go talk to-”
“Please, hear me out,” he pleaded. When she didn’t respond, he took it as a green light. “I messed up. I was so scared that once we went public, people would start talking and then you’d realize that I don’t deserve you. Or worse, people will come at you. I guess I just wanted to shelter our relationship without a lot of external forces. But I selfishly didn’t listen to you, and I went out with all these models to appease the public.”
She watched him, keeping a neutral face but not glowering at him anymore. “I just was so scared of our relationship changing for the worse with the media factor, and I was scared of losing you.” He chuckled bitterly. “But I still ended up losing you. I’m so sorry I hurt you, and I shouldn’t have put you in a position where you felt like you couldn’t trust me. I miss you so much that it hurts. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I can’t stand not being near you anymore. I’m sorry for acting like a selfish twat. I really hope you can forgive me, and that maybe we could restart.” He held out the bouquet of daisies he’d been fidgeting with, almost like a peace offering.
“We’re not restarting,” she scoffed as she snatched the flowers, making him flinch in shock. Her mouth then curled up into the mischievous smirk he had gotten so used to before settling into something more serious. “You did hurt me, a lot,” she started out. “But I know you had good intentions, and you’re apologizing now.” She stepped closer to him, gazing into his eyes.
“I missed you too,” she whispered before she pressed her lips to his for a kiss. Pulling apart, she watched the ways his eyes lit up as he held her face in his hands, pecking her forehead.
“I’m never letting you go again,” he murmured as she only smiled, burying her face in his neck, breathing in the familiar scent of his cologne mixed with the daisies.
“I don’t plan on leaving.”

Warning - Just fluff :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Alright, how does your month look for our holiday?”
“Looks, good. The awards season is done and I have a solid month open before my next project,”
“Perfect!  And….done, we’re officially going on holiday,”
Barry chuckled as you slammed the Laptop shut in relief, he reached over to lace your fingers together from across the tiny coffee table between the pair of you.  The rest of the shop was mostly deserted, except for a few patrons who were working on their own computers or reading. With the pattering of rain and the sun attempting to push through the storm clouds that were rolling by, you and Barry wanted to hide out in a coffee shop and have some one-on-one time together.  It was one of your favorite coffee shops, you found a spot tucked away from the windows and out of the public eye since Barry was not being recognized out and about.  He loved his stardom, he truly did, but he also loved having time away from set or paparazzi could be your boyfriend.
One of his favorite things to do with you was hold your hand.
Sure it seemed like it was such a simple thing to do, but he loved having your hand in his.  Anytime he could, he would hold your hand and keep it tucked tight.  Walking together shoulder to shoulder, watching a movie together cuddled on the couch, even falling asleep together when he would cuddle you close in his embrace.  Something about having your hand in his, it felt like Ana char for him with how fast things were moving in his life.
“Where are we goin’?” He asked you as you took a long sip from your latte.
“Not going to tell you,” You hummed as an answer, seeing him cock up an eyebrow at you, “As someone who has connections to travel agents, this holiday is going to be amazing for us.  Just be prepared to dress for warmth,”
“Ah, so I need my speedo?” He joked, and you giggled as he grinned from ear to ear.
“You would want to bring your speedo when we go under the sun,” You teased, “But you can’t get a sunburn or else your publicist will kill me,”
“Eh, she won’t do a thing to you,” Barry reassured you as he scooted over to be right next to you, wrapping a spare arm around your shoulders to tuck you in a bit closer next to him.  Your hands were still connected on top of the table, his thumb stroking your skin back and forth along our hand as he spoke again, “She’s a great publicist, but wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“I know, that’s why I like her: she's kind but she keeps you in check when you’re away,” You explained, Barry kissing the top of your head.
“You make it seem like I’m a bad boy,” he commented, though he saw you smile as he poked your side, “You think I am, don’t ya?”
“Never said that,” You replied with a laugh as he poked your side again. Barry loved this banter between the pair of you, ever since you met two years ago thanks to a mutual friend who introduced the pair of you at a wrap party from one of his independent films.  Barry instantly liked you, from how you laughed at one of the corny pickup lines another bloke tried on you, to how you were asking him plenty of questions about acting and what method he liked the best.  He could tell you genuinely liked him as a person, not as an actor or a movie star.  He asked you for your number, and you two have been a pair since then.
He was an actor who thrived and craved privacy, especially when it came to his personal life.  He wanted to have his relationship with you as private as possible, not wanting to have public dates or extravagant vacations.  In fact, he was the opposite, wanting to find little tucked-away restaurants to eat at or small getaways with no prying eyes.  He saw now that acting life can tear families and relationships apart, and the one main thing he never wished for was to have his life with you tainted and ruined.  But you never cared, not when you had your own life to deal with and your workload keeping you busy most days.
Still, little by little, you were known as his girlfriend.  Barry taking you to a couple of premiers, dropping your name at interviews and talk shows, even walking with you side by side with the paparazzi catching the image at the right moment.  He could see that you were no wallflower when it came to being in the spotlight from time to time.  Sometimes the gossip columns and tabloids did get to you once or twice, but you were they were lies and not even close to the truth.
Barry loved having your hand in his when times were tough or when he was too stressed, It brought him inner peace and tranquility.  If he could, he would hold your hand all the time and never let you go.  Sure it seemed possessive, but he didn’t care. Barry cared about you and how you moved him from the inside out.  Even seeing pictures of the two of you holding hands out in public, at a premiere or a party would always put butterflies in his stomach and make his heart swell.
He never felt like this with any other girlfriend, not for a long time.
“So, this warm holiday, am I going to be seeing you in a gorgeous swimsuit?” He asked you in a coy tone.
“Maybe, along with some of my favorite books to read and plenty of sunshine for the pair of us to share together,” You explained, “And it’s going to be at least 5 days too, so pack plenty of clothes…or not.”
“Hey!” He snorted, the pair of you laughing at the light antics between you two in your booth. He looked down at your joined hands, feeling the warmth of your palm against his own and your soft hands against his calloused fingers.  He knew he wanted to hold your hand forever and beyond that as well.
Inwardly, he was glad that you planned this holiday out for the pair of you to enjoy.  He had other plans that he was going to make with you, given the small ring box that he stored away in his dresser drawer back at his flat.  He dreamed of placing a tiny diamond on your finger, for some time actually.
But you planning the holiday made it just a pinch sweeter.
The End

singapore with mat barzal
"Oh my god, it smells amazing in here," your boyfriend Mat exclaimed when you entered the small restaurant.
"I know," you answered, your face lighting up at the familiar scent. "It's my favorite place ever."
The hostess, a close friend of your grandmother, light up when she saw you walk in. "(Y/n)! ia telah begitu lama. Tengok awak. Awak sangat cantik." (It's been so long. Look at you. You're so beautiful.)
You smiled, catching up with her quickly and finally introducing your boyfriend to her.
"Selamat berkenalan," (It’s nice to meet you.) he said, his pronunciation a lot better then when you practiced with him on the plane ride.
When you were finally seated, your favorite table of course, and immediately started looking through the menu. Almost two days ago you and Mat had made it to your home country, Singapore. After a year of dating, you were ready for him to meet your family back home and show him where you spend most of your childhood. Mat was very excited for you to show him everything and was a very good sport when eating all of the cultural foods he was not used to. He loved exploring and expanding his food palate.
"You've already had the chili crab, but this place does it better than anywhere else, so you can have that again if you want." You translated the menu for him, but he wanted something with rice or noodles. "Then I'd do the char kway teow. It's pretty traditional stir fry based dish. I think you'd like it."
"Ok, I might take that then." He looked around more, still deciding on what he's in the mood for.
A server, also someone you knew, then came over to take your orders. You gave her yours, then looked at Mat, unsure if he had made his final decision. "You ready?"
He nodded, then looked at the server. "Saya tolong minta char kway teow." (I will have the char kway teow, please.) Your mouth dropped in shock. How did he just say this sentence, pronouncing the words almost perfectly? The server nodded, then left towards the kitchen.
"What?" He grinned.
"How did you know how to say that?" You were still shocked, but a smile crept over your lips. You had taught him a few words here and there, but not how to say whole sentences.
"Oh, I didn't tell you?," he asked innocently. "I've been taking duolingo lessons since we've planned this trip." That was almost three months ago. Tears coated your eyes when you realized what that meant.
"Mat." He smiled, taking your hand in his.
"I just thought I could impress your family a bit. And you, by the looks of it." You broke out in a small, emotional laugh.
"I want to squeeze the crap out of you right now. And kiss." He laughed and kissed the palm of your hand.
"We can do that later. How about you let me have my last meal first?"

Jess x charlie proposal ^^
Charlie was getting restless. Jessica was late and it was driving her insane. Of course Charlie was used to her girlfriend being late, it was one of Jessica’s little quirks, but this was ridiculous.
Jessica should have arrived an hour ago yet she wasn’t here. Normally Charlie wouldn’t mind Jessica being late but she hadn’t seen Jessica in over a month as her girlfriend had been on a business trip. It didn’t help that Charlie had something that she wanted to ask Jessica.
As Charlie looked up at the living room clock she couldn’t help but pull out a ring that she had tucked into one of her jean pockets and looked at it. Recently her twin brother Sammy had gotten married to his long time boyfriend Carlton and it had got Charlie thinking about her relationship with Jessica.
The two had been dating a lot longer than Cartlon and Sammy yet those two had gotten married before them. It had really made Charlie realise something that she hadn’t thought about before.
She wanted to be with Jessica for the rest of her life.
After everything that she had been through Jessica was always there for her. With that in her mind Charlie knew that she had to fully cement her love for Jessica by proposing to her. Yet Jessica was taking her sweet time getting back home.
Thankfully for her sanity Charlie wouldn’t have to wait much longer as five minutes later she heard a ring at the doorbell. Charlie immediately jumped up from the sofa, quickly tucked the ring back into her pocket and sprinted towards the door. The moment she unlocked the door and opened it Charlie was immediately grabbed by the neck and pulled into a kiss.
Smiling Charlie melted into the kiss and kissed back her hands dropping down to the person’s waist. The two held their kiss for a few more seconds before Charlie pulled away to see Jessica after so long.
“Hey Sunshine.” Charlie gently said.
“Heya Charlie.” Jessica smiled back. “How are you doing?”
Charlie felt a slight blush begin to form on her face. “Better now that you’re here.”
“Ohhhh how cute.” Jessica replied with a teasing tone in her voice. “Now am I allowed to come inside my own home?”
“Of course you are me lady.”
Before Charlie could blink Jessica quickly grabbed her hand, slammed the door shut and sprinted towards the sofa. Jessica threw Charlie onto the sofa and immediately pounced on her girlfriend grabbing her checks pulling her into a passionate kiss.
Charlie kissed back but she was no match for Jessica’s sheer excitement to be back home so she let Jessica take control. Jessica knew this so she did everything she could to take advantage of her girlfriend’s submission. She kissed Charlie’s neck while her hands moved over to Charlie’s breasts and gave them a squeeze.
“Jess.” Charlie moaned. “Can we not do this right now?”
“What do you mean?” Jessica innocently asked. “I’m just showing off how much I’ve missed you.”
Charlie just scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Sure.”
“I’m being completely truthful here Char.” Jessica purred, running one of her fingers around Charlie’s chest. “I’m only showing off my love for you.”
“Alright I believe you.” Charlie replied. “But can we go for a walk before this escalates further?”
Jessica looked at Charlie confused at what she had said. “Um sure why not.”
“Great.” Charlie said beaming as her plan was finally going into motion.
After a relaxing drive towards the walk path the two parked the car and Charlie immediately went to hold Jessica’s hand with Jessica holding her’s back. Charlie smiled as the two walked in silence just enjoying each other’s company.
It felt right doing this before proposing. Going on long walks was something that the two used to do back when they were just simple roommates so it felt natural. There was some small talk here and there with Charlie mentioning how good Sammy and Carlton’s wedding was despite Jessica missing it while Jessica talked about her job.
Eventually the two walked up a hill that they have climbed up so many times before finally stopping at the top of it where a lonely tree stood. Charlie rested her head on Jessica’s left shoulder and the two watched over the distance in silence. As they did Charlie could recall the many times they walked up here before something big happened to them. It was their special spot.
“Hey Jess.” Charlie softly said. “Can I ask you something?”
“Funny you should say that but I’ve got a question as well.” Jessica replied.
Charlie looked up at Jessica. “Okay you go first.”
“Well with me being away for a month a lot of things have been on my mind.” Jessica said. “Mostly to do with us.”
“Right.”
“And…” Jessica paused. “I was going to do this back home but now that we are here I’ll do it.”
Charlie felt her heart rushing. Jessica wasn’t going to was to do it was she?
Pulling away Jessica went down onto her one knee and pulled out a small ring from her pocket. “Charlotte Emily, will you marry me?”
A moment of silence past as Charlie felt her eyes begin to tear up. At first Jessica got nervous and was about to apologise but Charlie quickly spoke up.
“You fucking dick.” Charlie bluntly said. “Of course you had to ask that question.” Noticing Jessica’s sudden look of shock and horror Charlie continued on with her slowly getting on one knee as well. “You just had to ask that question when I was about to do the same thing.”
Charlie finished by pulling out her own ring. The two looked at each other with tears begin to stream down their faces. They didn’t even move a muscle until Jessica grabbed Charlie’s face once again and pressed her lips against hers. Just like before Charlie melted as the two embraced each other. Not a word spoken until a few minutes went by before Charlie broke the silence up.
“I hope when you said that you were going to do this at home you didn’t mean after sex right?” Charlie asked.
“N-No of course.” Jessica spluttered clearly lying. “That would be-“
“That would be a you thing to do.” Charlie laughed.
“Charlie.” Jessica softly whispered.
“Yes sunshine.”
“I love you.”
“And I love you too.”
With that the two leaned in kissing each other ready for the next stage of their relationship.

Get To Know Me
Who dis? It's me! Been a hot minute, hasn't it? This year has been a pile of dung up until now, if I'm being completely honest, hence my absence from Tumblr and most social media. I had an accident in December and have been feeling like dirt ever since. But: I'm back now! Mostly thanks to my beloved @johaerys-writes and the amazing @mogwaei who tagged me for this game. Thanks to you two! ❤ It's been a please reading your posts.
And now: Let's dive in!
Share your wallpaper: I'm a very boring person who has her own artwork as a wallpaper on her phone (talking about this study I did last year). XD It reminds me that (every once in a while) I do create something that I actually enjoy without any self-doubt or regret, and I like that.
Last song you listened to: "Eyes Closed" by Ed Sheeran. I'm a very basic person, lol.
Currently reading: Let me check Goodreads real quick... Yeah, I'm reading far too many books at the same time again. So here's the top 3 of books I'm reading and enjoying the most atm:
The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
There's also a bunch of fanfic I need to catch up on but my mind has been all over the place.
Last move: "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves". My P&P podcast party had been invited to a preview 2 weeks ago and we had a fun time watching that movie.
Craving: Time off. I've been working non-stop for the past 8 months or so (with Christmas being the only exception) and I'm feeling super drained right now. Luckily, there are a few short trips coming up in April and July, so there is that!
What are you wearing right now: Basic black jeans and a white knitted sweater. It's spring but it's still flipping cold in my apartment. Ooph!
How tall are you: 168 cm or 5'5 feet (I guess?)
Piercings: Just the two for my earrings. As I said, I'm *very* basic. :')
Tattoos: Currently I got two but I plan on getting more later this year. Gotta save up some money first.
Glasses? Contacts? I got 3 different glasses (transparent, gold and brown frames) and contacts because I like to switch things up.
Last drink: I'm currently having some coffee with oat milk aka The breakfast of Champions. Or so I keep telling myself XD
Last thing you ate: Chicken wrap with lots of cheese. It was amazing.
Favorite color: My taste in color(s) shifts constantly but I'm currently obsessed with green in various tones. I keep getting back to like a warmer green because it makes me feel very cozy. But I also adore a good color combo of orange and violet/lilac or yellow and dark blue. It depends on my mood.
Current obsession: Truth be told, because of the current state of my mental health, I have a hard time being obsessed about anything. It's not like I can't enjoy things (I know that that feels like and I don't want to get back to *those days*) but there's not hyperfixation that lives rent-free in my head. And you know what? It feels terrible! I miss the feeling of being utterly obsessed about something. I crave that level of excitement, honestly!
Unrelated Obsession: Okay, I guess this means non-fandom obsessions. I do have one of those! A short while back, I read a book by the title "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" which was fascinating. I loved that it was not Euro-centric and instead focussed on the achievements of Genghis and his successors. I've been gobbling media with the same or similiar topics – including finally playing "Ghost of Tsushima" which send me reading up on the Mongol invasion of Japan. It's been an intriguing ride!
Any pets: I'm too allergic to have cats, dogs, and other animals and I hate it. I want a little doggo so badly... 💔
Do you have a crush on anyone: IRL? Not anymore. I used to have a crush for most of last year but since he started ghosting me a few months back, I decided to focus my attention elsewhere. I'm *done* with dating and have been for the past couple of years. As for fictional characters... I have to go with Solas, although (as I mentioned) my excitement has died down somewhat. I still love that boy to death but I'm not as obsessed as I used to be.
Favorite fictional character: How dare you make me chose one?! I have a trillion fave characters and they're all precious to me ;_; No, I will not pick one because I truly can't!
The last place you traveled: I went to Cologne, my hometown, three weeks ago, but I assume that doesn't count as traveling. I think my last real vacation was in 2019 when I travelled to the Leipzig Book Fair. Oh my... 😅 (And I was wondering why I felt so drained all the time, lol. Dang... what a reality check. This hurts!).
That's it! Hope you enjoyed the read :3
Time to forward some tags. As always, please feel free to join in or ignore the tag: @serial-chillr @faerieavalon @thebookworm0001 @ohmypawsandwhiskers @pikapeppa @oxygenforthewicked @fiadhaisteach @noire-pandora @ellie-effie. Sending all of you lots of love. I hope you're doing great!
Until next time, lovelies! <3

(Request) Secrets Must Be Kept
Request: - toppat henry and gov charles are dating and despite their jobs sneak around, itd be romantic!
Tw/Tags: Toppat Recruits, Secret Relationships, Complex Relationships, Enemy Lovers, Mild Angst, Romance, Mild Mature Content, & Ambiguous Morals
"Go away. Leave" Stuck in an unfavorable situation caused by the other Charles let's out a muffled hiss, arms crossed over his chest, "You shouldn't be here"
Awkwardly stiff in posture Charles didn't nudge a bit when uneasily watching the Toppat member circle around, observing him from head to toe.
"C'mon, Char Char. You ought to be nice to me here. After everything I've done for you. I thought a lil' visit would help after we've been separated for so long?"
"We can get caught, Henry. It wouldn't end well for either one of us and most certainly you" Charles spat out, strictly keeping it professional, the stern aloofness of any dull soldiers stayed with a vengeance that in Henry's opinion he never could begin to enjoy. "I told you I wanted this to end the last time we met up. You're testing your luck again"
In respect he kept up a near respectively practiced carefree attitude Henry strutted over to the standoffish military pilot, "And who's fault would that be, hm?"
"Yours"
Then he ran his cold flat hand on Charles' hip, sliding underneath the many layers of thick layers to feel the soft, warm skin. He could obviously see the scars alongside the colorful love bites he inflicted on the other still in his twisted pride brought him mild satisfaction. During their last meeting months prior he took the pilot by surprise,  greedily attacking the other's bare neck with hickeys that now already faded to near non-existence. Each time managing to draw crimson blood, often metallic in taste, long tongue greedily up lapping the dripping mess craves to experience it once more. What he'll do to taste the man again however before the recruit can satisfy his urges, his hand was harshly slapped away, his partner's large eyes glared directly into his unwavering soul, remaining unforgiving about the harsh action done.
"You do know we can't continue to do this?"
"Sweetheart… Baby, please relax. It's me, your Hen. My bosses won't know nor your general either. You'll feel much better if we get this started, I know it" He said simply, ignoring the stinging feeling in his hand.
"Oh really? You're so sure about that, Hen?"
Nodding silently Henry knew his ranking in the clan as the newest, most impressive recruit ever seen he would be trusted just enough to not be suspected in starting up a secret, forbidden relationship with the enemy. For Charles though it was different as he was the best pilot the military has to offer then there were people, the general, his friends wouldn't have been expected from him it hurt too much to do such a cruel betrayal.
"… Let's get this over with then…" Charles tiredly mutters, "... You want me, I can see that from a mile away…"
"Charles. At least be happy that I'm here. That we're together"
"I am. I'm happy to be here with you… I need you. I love you... I worry we will get caught one day. I can't stand the looming possibility that everything we worked so hard respectively might be yanked from under our feet. I don't want to be separated from you"
Bending down to be at Charles' eye level, Henry calmly reassured, holding the man's soft cheek in hand, "We won't. I make sure of it"
"Alright. That's good" Closing the gap, their lips locked in a passionate kiss. Henry decided to tangle his fingers in Charles' curly hair. Charles loosely wrapped his arms around the taller man's shoulders. Pulling apart, breathing heavy on both ends and flushed, the pilot's icy exterior decided to melt. Knowing full well they were treading on thin ice together he finally attempted to savor every single moment. It never felt enough for them so Charles took the initiative and clawed at the Toppats' fine, midnight suit wanting more to actually feel his comforting presence.
"You're amazing, Charles. I love you"
Then peppering kisses all over Henry's face, Charles genuinely grinned, "You too. I love you so much"

36 years, 6 months & 5 days ago it began. We entered Pearl Studios, a jingle studio on the east side of Milwaukee, 2 blocks from Shorewood.Thanx to Char Fiore who talked her soundman Todd Scott into having us record our album there for $20 an hour.We got there at 7 pm, set up, Todd set up the mikes & we proceeded to knock out 3 songs that night (What The Trouble Was, Funhouse & Therapist).Todd asked how many songs were going to be on the record & we said around 16, we thought we would be done with the record quickly, in no time. That was February 3, 1986. 2 years, 9 months & 18 days & 500 hours of studio recording & mixing time later October 21,1988,  the albums appeared at our doorstep 1010 of them.50 boxes were in our possession piled against our living room wall. We took them to Peaches record store to put on consignment. Dennis playing nice purposely didn't spell out "F**cked Over Jesus" on his song on the back of the album artwork, instead opting for "F'd Over Jesus" to make it more commercial. The Peaches sales team at the record store counter still needed to protect its public & placed the records in a safe spot in their display racks. We had made our debut album. We had our own album in our hands. It had taken a long time, but it was all worth the time, sweat & effort it took to pull it off. It put a smile on our faces, like we had really accomplished something after 8 & a half years being in a band together at that point. The endless takes & retakes. Listening, studying, honing.Between working day jobs, coming home recording, overdubbing, rehearsing, practicing & writing the melody lines, playing, strumming & drumming techniques, we would rent a reel to reel and cello on the weekends, record songs that were written during the time of the record, made up songs were recorded, shows were played & in the meantime Dennis was working on the artwork for The Frogs as well as Right & Natural as both records were only 5 months apart. Often we would leave Pearl Recording studio at 2 am & I would have to be to work at the hospital at 530 am. Blessingsz to Todd for all his hard work engineering the record, who would be doing sound at nights for shows as well as working during the day so he fit us into his schedule as best as he could. Upon meeting Kurt he told Dennis thanks for the album (Dennis had given him both "It's Only Right & Natural" & "The Frogs" LP's, & Dennis said you mean "It's Only Right & Natural" & he said  "The Frogs" I've been looking for that album forever, I love that album".
We had needed an identification number on the sleeve of the album so Dennis suggested 8-08-88We had hoped somehow we could have matched the release date August 8, 1988Today is a MondayDennis & I were both born on MondayToday is August 8, 2022 so I thought it a good day to release this friend & companion album

How does she compare to game!Yukari?
So this only goes for like the first stage play and game act 1 Yukari (pre-yakushima, basically up till Fuuka), because the first stage play covers about as much ground as the first movie (feels a lot faster tho, they cut a lot of stuff but it def is different and I like it considering how new it is). This is also Sakuya's side (I'm just beginning Kotone's side "Wait why'd you do the male first Silly??? You love the FeMC!" ..... reasons 030). Basically, if she changes in the later plays......well I'm unbeknownst to it atm.
Before we go into Yukari comparisons themselves, I want to say that the stage play changes SEES dynamic. They are friends. Not coworkers to friends, there is barely a coworker phase tbh. They came fast together, and decided "yeah we are friends" and.....yeah they have a funny dynamic (a lot of people feel different, but it's....nice in a way, it def addresses things I had issues with P3 so that's nice). Do I think Junpei/Sakuya are friends? Not really, or at the moment. Do I think they have the best chance of being portrayed as friends compared to the game/manga/movie? Yeah. But yeah that's very important in a big distinction between play and any other iteration (it'll play into the Mitsu/Fuuka portion at the VERY bottom).
So like I said (in my tags?) in the prev post, the only thing they get right about her char is 1) Her motivation: She joined SEES to learn about what happened to her dad, 2) Backstory: Her dad died and her mom dated around afterwards (which upset her, how it impacted her seems different tho).
G!Yukari (G=game, P=play) is....like a projector, she likes to project everything on everyone. MC? "We both have dead parents! Well I mean I have a dead dad, my mom's still alive-oh but she's a whore and we don't see each other, but that's totally the same right?" Mitsuru? "Oh yeah we both lost our dad I can relate! I mean you JUST lost him like what? About two weeks ago? And are still processing his death? While I've processed mine for the last 10 years AND I finally just got my closure and vindication? I mean I could use myself as a means to guide you, or I can just preach about whatever stage of grief your in and rush you through all the stages all while slapping you!" Aigis? "It's not that I can't move on from his death, it's that YOU (all) can't move on! Look I'm going forward! Hey who put this brick wall of jealousy in front of me? That's it I'm taking it out on you Aigis, I know I'm short sighted because of this and what I say should definitely do irreparable damage to my friendship with everyone but I don't care I'm a jerk!"
So yeah....she projects. Which would be a fine character flaw.....if she ever actually overcame it. :/
But back go G!Yukari vs P!Yukari. P!Yukari.... is a neurotic mess who is like a fumble away from a mental breakdown. I actually think P!Yukari is closer to a characterization of Maya or DramaCD/Game!Hamuko. A stepford smiler who is holding back a lot of pain. "Yukari has a lot of pain already!" No I mean, like Maya/Hamu, literal shaking, and thin smile holding back a mental break down as a flood gate of trauma is holding on my a crack. P!Yukari is NOT ok. And I kinda love it (I love break the cutie tropes).
Let's compare the "overshare my backstory scene".
Game!Yukari: *goes into speed detail on her past with her dead dad and whore of a mom* MC: Ma’am I literally just woke up and already forgot your name cause I've barely known you for like 3 days and I've been in a coma for like a week according to you oh my god.
Yeah yeah we know the hospital scene. But there's set up needed for the Play. In the play.....things happen at a BREAK neck pace. Sakuya summons Thanatos, wakes up the same night (no hospital), the next day Mitsuru is like "Let's go to Tartarus" then it transitions into the Priestess Full Moon ("Woah hold on Silly, you just yeeted us like a month ahead" yeah I know-things move fast gotta keep up!), anyway full moon event ends and.....Yukari still can't summon her Persona. "Wait what?" Yes, this whole time she still hasn't summoned her Persona. Junpei is salty about the whole event still (he was reckless, Sakuya saved the day, Junny is pissy, same shit different day yadda yadda), he runs off and Aki follows after him. Yukari is half crying because again she can't summon her Persona, Mitty sees and runs (because.....she doesn't feel like she should be the one to support her/help her/lecture her cause of the whole father thing-but that's later and besides the point) so we are left with Yukari and Sakuya.
So she cries out in frustration wondering what she's doing wrong. Sakuya is just standing there minding his own business still. And then she notices he's still there, and quickly tries to cover up her frustration and puts on a smiley face, and compliments Sakuya about how he, Mitty and Aki are great at summoning. She mentions how she's not really on the team to "fight". Sakuya is "ah that so" *turns away* and then she asks about his dead parents and if they died in the accident all those years ago too. He's like "ya" and she's smiling but....it's not really a happy smile. It's a desperate smile and she "happily" exclaims "me too!" and then he turns around slightly to look at her before turning back. She starts to happily talk about her dad and the Kirijou incident. Basically, similar to her words in the hospital in the game (and probs later dialogue from SL/Yakushima) ....but the delivery is different. She's bubbly, then when she thinks about how the explosion killed her dad, she gets....a distant look and breaks a little, before quickly recovering and laughing and then moving on to her mom. She's happily talking about "Oh I was raised by my mom after that. She went a liiiiiiiitle crazy haha. Went through a few guys *counts quickly on hands* hahahahah It' was hard to watch haha as....her daughter.... But most importantly *starts to crack again* it was hard when she talked badly about dad. Because I believe in him!" and then she sings "Brand New Days" ("But isn't that a FES song?" shhhhhhhhh choices were made apparently).
P!Yukari def feels like she's at the end of her rope when she gives her backstory rather than projecting. Like she's giving a hail Mary to Sakuya for help. And she's not really an ass about it tbh, not like her Yakushima event. She only gets angry at Sakuya when he's dismissive towards her (in her most vulnerable moment so far). Unlike G!Yukari during Yakushima where.....iirc you only have positive things to say to her and she gets angry regardless of "You just have all the answers don't you????!!!" (she apologizes but still). (that being said, dunno what happens in the later plays tho)
Like listen, P!Yukari is not really Yukari (aka G!Yukari). As much as I hate G!Yukari, those are key parts of her char, those are her key flaws (and wait....I remember reading that if a chars have flaws that means they're good right?! which means you need to except their flaws right?! Or are people just trying to make it so we can't criticize Yukari? 8U she's good that she has flaws but no you can't bring them up nor criticize them? *puh puh* -_- sorry side vent), and by removing those flaws....you remove key aspects of Yukari. Love her, hate her. That's her. You file those off....you're either left with a store brand Yukari (oh god is that worse? *looks at manga* it's bad but a different kind D:) or a completely new entity.
"Ok Silly she doesn't project or get angry for no reason, surely there's more to Yukari than that-" She's not pissy towards Mitsuru "Wait what?" Her being snide about Mitsuru is not really a part of this (like G!Yukari is NOT comfortable around Mitty AT ALL, even if she doesn't directly blame Mitsuru she at least doesn't trust her). She's all like "Senpai!! *distressed*"(cause she needs saving a lot), she even flat out states in the end of the first play that she doesn't blame Mitsuru for what the Kirijou's did with her dad (and Mitsuru mentions how she knew Yukari only joined to learn about her dad, and Mitty wanted to protect Yuka to atone for her family's sins and yeah it's a bit of a Shinji/Ken dynamic).
And you know how Yukari really only got involved in finding Fuuka in the game because of the stupid ghost story. ".....yeah?" Yeah no, P!Yukari instantly clocks Fuuka being bullied and instantly befriends her and pulls her into a friendship with her, Junny and Sakuya (Sakuya seems the most receptive towards Fuuka in this). (is it cause this SEES is written to be more like friends than coworkers? Maybe I dunno).
These are key things G!Yukari Does. Not. Do in the games. Tbh I'm starting to think P!Yukari is what people (who like her) think they see when they see G!Yukari. They have fundamentally different flaws. It's like two writers were given a character background and a current situation, and told to write flaws relating to that background and how that relates to the char's situation now and they came up with completely different characters. Which is fine by me, I'm ready to adopt P!Yukari into the game. Now we just gotta find a Junpei replacement, I'm thinking P!Junpei too, but we'll have to see.
"Wait if P!Yukari is so different.....does that mean the other chars are too?!" Hahahaha ha haaaaa *happy sighs* yeah a little. Mitty/Aki feel more like if certain parts of their personality are enhanced and some are dehanced (like I can def see the core of their char more in them). Junny is more or less the same, his dynamic is just different with Sakuya. And Fuuka sure is there. Jk. Half Jk. I love Fuuka. Words are said, that def feel like they came from the game. I'm not sure if it's the same characterization tho. Those dissertations are for another time tho (not 2am on a work night 8U)

hey Char!!!!
I was wondering if you would be okay with writing something angsty/hurt/comfort for Marcus M.? Marcus and reader have been seeing each other for some time but he doesn’t want anyone to know because he feels guilty, because of his late wife.
maybe one day she sees him on the street and goes to greet him but he walks in the opposite direction, not wanting to upset Missy ( who would be totally okay with him dating again ) and reader is just “oh… he doesn’t… oh…” you know?
I hope this inspires you, really. hope you’re having a great day!!!!! 💗😭
Oooh I love this idea anon 💕I had so much fun writing this, I hope you enjoy 😉
Mine, All Mine
Pairings: Marcus Moreno x f!reader
Warnings: Allusions to sex , angst, hidden relationship, fluff.
Comments and reblogs really appreciated 🥰
Tumblr media
They say time heals all wounds and for the most part that’s true, but sometimes, it just forms a scab that slowly bleeds if its hit too hard. Marcus had told you that he wanted this relationship, that enough time had passed from the death of his wife to not feel guilty. At first you believed him. Everything was new and sparkly, and he wanted too always be around you whenever he could. Now, if you don’t see him around headquarters then your lucky to see him at all. Those old doubts were starting to creep into your mind, that you weren’t good enough, pretty enough, skinny enough and you hated him for that.
Eight months has passed since the beginning of your relationship, and he hasn’t introduced you to his daughter Missy. You are both acquainted of course, you both see each other in work but that’s it. The rational part of your brain understood, she was his only child whose mother had passed away, he didn’t want her to feel like you were a replacement. The not so rational side, well it wanted to shout and scream at him that if he loved you like he said he did, he wouldn’t be hiding you. Taking your phone out of your bag you type out a message to him.
Hey baby, was hoping we could catch a movie tonight or just chill at mine with some take out? x
Staring at the screen you see the bubbles and waited anxiously for his reply.
Baby I can’t tonight we’re heading on a mission, won’t be back until Monday. Sorry love you x
Tears formed behind your eyes and your heart sunk into your stomach. Another mission? How many was this now? I just miss him so much.
“Hey gorgeous. Why the glum face?”
Looking up from your phone you see miracle guy standing at your desk staring down at you. Willing yourself not to cry you put on the best fake smile and look him dead in the eye, “Sorry just some idiot texting me, no Biggy. What can I do you for?”
“Well, I know it’s not your job, but I could do with your help. See I need to book tickets to that new water park for tomorrow and its all booked out, was hoping you would pull some strings for me?”
Eyeing him with a confused look on your face you type away on your laptop, “Not that I mind helping but aren’t you on a mission this weekend?”
Now he’s the one confused. “What mission? Isn’t none that I heard of.”
“Oh, I must be confusing myself never mind. What time tomorrow?”
“Whatever you can get me and if you want you could come along too.”
Blushing now you type up an email to the owner of the park and send it out, “That’s really nice of you Miracle but I’m actually busy this weekend, maybe next time?”
“Sure thing, well if you change your mind hit up my socials,” he says with a wink as he turns and leaves.
You didn’t have time to process that Miracle Guy just asked you out, too busy with the fact that Marcus has lied to you. Packing your stuff into your bag you make your way towards the elevator, needing to get home before you burst out crying.
***
Saturday morning the sun shone brightly, and you decided to just get out of the house, not to dwell on things, so putting on your favourite floral dress you make your way into the city. Walking down the street to your favourite coffee shop you spot him, wearing denim trousers and that leather jacket you love so much. The black glasses adorn his face, and you smile a little at the memory of you telling him there not that great of a disguise. He’s smiling down at Missy until his eyes land on you and he freezes. With a huge smile on your face, you continue to walk towards them when he suddenly pulls Missy across the street. He doesn’t even look back at you. Your frozen on the spot, hurt coursing through your veins.
Oh…he doesn’t…oh.
The tears are flowing down your face now and with your head facing the ground you walk as fast as your legs will carry you back to your car, failing to notice the brown eyes now filled with regret.
***
Marcus was in love with you. There wasn’t a doubt in his mind that he did and that scared him. More than fighting off villains or getting hurt. He realized he loved you one morning as you lay next to him in bed. Missy had been away on a school trip, and he wasted no time in coming to yours and spending the weekend with you. Nestled snugly into his side, your naked skin pressed against his, your messy hair covering your face a little, he can’t help the smile that spreads over his face. He wants this, everyday for the rest of his life but he shouldn’t. The memory of his wife creeps into his mind as he looks down at you sleeping soundly and all he feels is guilt. He shouldn’t be this happy without her. He shouldn’t be moving on; it isn’t fair to Missy.
Oh god Missy. What will she think? Will she think I’m replacing her mom and hate me?
He’s dragged out of his thoughts at the feeling of your fingers running along his chest and he looks down at you, your eyes shining brightly up at him and his heart swells. What is he going to do? He loves you so much, but he also loves Missy more than anything in this world and he can’t break her little heart.
“Hey where’d you go?”
“Hmm? Sorry just thinking, don’t mind me.” He leans down and kisses you on the lips. Its hot, its passionate but also slow and sensual, he’s savouring this moment, like he’s kissing you for the last time. It is the last time he thinks.
***
He hated lying to you. It killed him as he wrote out the text telling you he had a mission this weekend, but he had to do it. He needed you to hate him, because you deserved someone who was willing to love you no matter what, who wasn’t ashamed of moving on. Someone who showed you off to the world as theirs.
Missy had wanted to go into the city and check out a new clothes shop, so that’s where he fins himself. Walking along the street, bags in hand and a smile on his face at something Missy had said when he spots you. God you were beautiful. The sun shone behind you causing an ethereal glow and you were wearing that summer dress he loved so much…loved taking off you. Spotting him you smile brightly back at him, and he freezes. His mind working overtime on how he could avoid this. Pulling Missy by the arm he makes his way across the street, making some excuse about wanting to go to the bookstore. He doesn’t look back, doesn’t want to see the hurt on your face. It isn’t until he’s sure you’re not looking that he turns back and his heart shatters at the sight. He can see the tears running down your face as you rush off.
God what am I doing?
***
Sitting at home, glass of wine in hand you tell your sister everything as she sits across from you on the sofa. The room is quiet, a tension filling the air as you wait for her to speak.
“Do you love him?”
“What?”
“Do you love him? It’s a simple question.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well then, you have two options as far as I can see. One: say screw him and move on, or two: make the man realize what he’s about to lose.”
“How do I do that?”
“Simple. Make him jealous. Here give me your phone.” Handing her your phone you bite on your nails nervously as she types away.
“What are you doing?”
“Just thrust me ok. There,” she says handing back the phone. Looking down to see what she was doing; you notice Marcus’s name.
“You sent him a text!”
“I did. You need to know where you stand with him.”
Your eyes scan over the text.
Marcus what you did today really hurt, if you don’t want to be with me, then just tell me. My heart can’t take this hot and cold, either you want to be with me, or you don’t. which is it?
Anxiety reared its ugly head and your stomach felt sick as you waited for his reply.
Baby its…complicated. I just need a little time, please?
I’ve given you eight months Marcus so if you can’t answer me now then what’s the point.
Staring at your phone you see the little dots indicating he was replying but you didn’t want to hear anymore excuses so you turn your phone off. Looking towards your sister, a determined look on your face, “Ok so what’s the plan?”
“Miracle Guy.”
***
What’s the point?
It replays in his head like a broken record. What has he done? He has to fix this, he needs to.
***
Dressed in your tightest dress, you walk towards the heroic break room, a sway to your hips. The closer you get you can make out voices shouting. With a smile on your face, you open the door and all eyes land on you.
“Fuck me!”
“Ow!” You snort a laugh as Lava girl hits Shark boy on the chest, before turning back to you. “You do look hot though Y/N.”
“Thanks.”
Your eyes finally land on Marcus who is standing tall beside Miracle Guy, his eyes taking in your form, and he audibly gulps.
“God damn your gorgeous. Can’t believe you agreed to go on this date, I am one lucky guy.” Marcus is staring daggers at him now, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. He is fuming as Miracle Guy wraps his arm around your waist, making your way towards the door. A tingling sensation takes a hold of you, and you can feel yourself slowly slip from his arms, like an invisible force is pulling you away.
“Oh,” you gasp out as Marcus wraps his arms tight around you, a feral look in his eyes.
“Hey, Moreno she’s my date, what are…”
“She’s mine, all mine,” he says, his eyes locked on yours.
“Its about god damn time.”
Marcus’s head whips around to face him, confusion written all over his face. “What do you mean, about time?”
“You thought no one knew, idiot. Also, I may have been helping the future Mrs Moreno make you jealous. Anyway, I’m out, have fun you two.”
Marcus tuns back towards you and you have a huge smile on your face as he looks at you with so much love in his eyes. “Of course, you had to use my piercings against me.”
“Either that or I was going to kill him,” he says with a little laugh. “I think its time you and Missy met properly.”
***
Marcus was nervous. He was pacing the kitchen, biting on his nails when Missy walks in. “Hey dad.”
“Hey kiddo, do you mind sitting down?”
“Sure. Is everything ok?”
“Yeah, I just have something I need to tell you. Ok so first off I love you so much, you know that right?”
“Yeah…dad your kinda freaking me out.”
“You know I also love your mother very much. She was the love of my life and I thought I’d never move on; I didn’t want too. Not until Y/N.”
“Y/N from headquarters?”
“Yeah.”
“I like her, she’s really nice.”
“Good, I’m glad because well…we’ve been dating each other for almost a year now,” he says, a sheepish look on his face. “I’m so sorry I should have told you sooner, but I was afraid you would think I was replacing your mom…”
“Dad it’s ok. I am a little annoyed you waited this long to tell me, but I’m happy for you. Y/N is lovely and she’s really pretty, it’s about time you started dating again.”
“You’re ok with this?”
“Yep, 100%.”
“I love her. Very much. I think…I think I want to marry her…would you…be ok with that? If she said yes someday.”
“Dad if your happy, I’m happy. Besides mom wouldn’t want you to be alone.”
“Thanks kiddo, I love you.”
“Love you too. So, when do I get to meet her officially then?”
“Tomorrow night actually, I have a little something planned.”
***
Nerves flowed through you. The outfit you’re wearing you’ve changed at least ten times. Marcus had told you to dress casually, that he had a fun night planned. God, you hope Missy liked you. Arriving at the fair you meet them at the entrance and as soon as Missy spots you she runs over and gives you a massive hug.
“Nice to finally meet my dad’s girlfriend, officially.”
“Nice to meet you too, officially.”
Marcus slides up behind you and wraps his arm around your waist, “Hey baby, you look beautiful.”
“Not so bad yourself, Moreno.”
Walking hand in hand into the fair you all enjoy the rides and Marcus wins Missy a teddy bear, which she is adamant she is too old for, even if she holds onto it for dear life. The evening is getting late, and the sky is darkening as Marcus pulls you into him for a quick kiss.
“Got one more surprise for you two.” Making your way out of the fair, Marcus leads you both down the road a little and into a huge field where loads of cars have pulled into. A huge cinema screen sits at the end of the field. Spotting his truck, you all make your way towards it, seeing that he has turned his boot into a cosy little snug. Drinks and snacks all ready and waiting.
“This is so cool,” Missy says as she hops in and settles herself for the movie. Marcus gives you his hand and helps you in, hopping in behind you. He settles himself in the middle, between his two girls. As the movie starts and you both snuggle up beside him, he can’t help but smile, his heart fluttering in his chest. You lean over him, handing Missy the popcorn and she smiles over at you. This is what I want he thinks to himself. I want this, us, for the rest of my life. He’s not going to hide you away ever again, you’re his and he’s yours. He’s also going to have to go back and buy that ring he saw while out shopping with Missy. He will never forget Missy’s mom, but you were his future now.

Botanical Interest Masterlist I Main Masterlist
_____________
When Steve Rogers had asked you to be his girlfriend you knew there was a weight attached to it. A long talk over a stack of waffles and a couple of beers left Steve with a ‘yes’ and some ground rules.
After the incident in the alleyway you both agreed that he left his work at the door whenever you spent time together. Steve’s profession has made you uneasy since you met him and you two couldn’t avoid it forever.
A month later and you’ve managed to avoid conflict for the most part. Nothing as bold as that day in the alley, just small moments where he’d have to take a phone call, once when he had to cancel your plans for a ‘work incident’. But still he really was trying to keep his work and personal life separate and you appreciated it.
It had bothered you that he had to do those things but it’s not as though your work hadn’t impacted your time together either. Being a florist meant a lot of late nights when you worked events. Wedding season in full swing, every weekend was a busy one for you.
That’s why Monday’s have become almost sacred to you, your one day off a week. You and Steve always spent time together, sometimes you’d go out or stay home and just relax.
This Monday Steve had promised to come over and make you dinner. He’d only ever tried to cook for you once and it had ended with a lasagna burnt so badly you had to open every window in the apartment just to get the charred smell out. You couldn’t wait for him to redeem himself and take him to bed after you both came out of your food comas.
You were cleaning the kitchen when you heard your phone buzz. You had asked Steve if he wanted you to pick up any groceries since you had the day off. Expecting a list you were met with mild disappointment.
Running a little late, doll. 6:30 and not a minute later, I promise. Don’t worry about groceries. I'll get it all taken care of, just enjoy your day off.
You were kinda miffed but at least he gave you a heads up and he was going to get the groceries. You picked your sponge back up and scrubbed away at the counter.
________
Expecting to be let down, you were pleasantly surprised when 6:30 rolled around and your doorbell sounded. You buzzed him up and waited patiently for him at your door.
Steve appeared as he rounded the corner and he looked exhausted, irritated maybe. He carried a lot of tension in his shoulders and his suit jacket was long gone. His tie was undone and his sleeves were rolled up to where you could see well toned forearms. You bit your lip thinking of those arms holding you in place in bed.
Maybe we should just ditch the dinner and skip straight to dessert.
He approached you and you leaned up to give him a kiss.
“Hi, honey. How are you?” You greeted him as you shut the door behind you.
He set the groceries down onto the counter with some force and you winced. Okay so he did have a rough day. Do I ask him about it? I don’t wanna talk about his work but I don’t want him to feel like he can’t talk to me about his day.
He sighed and turned to face you, took his tie off completely and ran a hand through his hair.
“Don’t worry about it” he responded as he took a beer out of your fridge.
You were off-put by the abruptness of his answer. Maybe he was just short with you because he didn’t want to talk about work.
You stepped closer and tried to approach him again.
“I-“
“I said don’t worry about it.” Steve snapped, he pulled his phone out of his pocket and swiped the screen, visibly annoyed. “I gotta take this”. He slammed the door to your bathroom shut behind him and left you stunned in the middle of your kitchen.
What just happened? You had never seen him so upset aside from when you caught him mid-punch a month ago with Mr. Andersen.
Realistically you knew it wasn’t you he was mad at but you’d never done well with people when they were mad at you. You were engaged years ago to a man that was abusive towards you. Things had started off well like they always do but he became manipulative and he was quick to anger. You were constantly questioned and criticized. He kept you from seeing your friends, even some of your family. It took your friends coming through for you to get you out of the situation safely. Through lots of therapy and flinging yourself headfirst into your business you’ve come a long way but sometimes you had difficult moments.
It couldn’t be helped as your heart began to quicken and you felt heat come to your face from the embarrassment of being snapped at. Unsure what to do you poured yourself a glass of wine and sat down at your small dining table facing away from the bathroom.
You were trying to get yourself to not shut down in response to his change in mood but it was hard. He’s upset and clearly irritated with me already, he probably just wants to go home. Maybe you should just reschedule. Don’t cry, if you cry you’re gonna make it a whole Thing. Don’t cry. He’s not mad at you specifically and it’s not your fault.
In the torrent of your thoughts you didn’t hear the bathroom door open. Steve hadn’t spared you a glance or a word as he started unloading the groceries. Angrily placing a jar of pasta sauce onto your counter with a thud and muttering under his breath. You watched him timidly and took another sip of your wine.
He turned to you and took another swig of his beer.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that? What did I do?” He challenged.
Not wanting him to be upset with you, you devolved into old ways of over-explaining so you could justify your actions. Somewhere in the back of your mind, the rational part was telling you it’s not your fault he’s angry and you don’t owe an explanation but you were too far gone.
“I, I just, you didn’t do anything you just, um, you just looked upset. I don’t want to make it worse, I’m sorry. I was just looking at you, I didn’t mean to-”
You were cut off in the midst of your nervous rambling by the shrill ring of Steve’s phone. A frustrated growl escaped his mouth.
“I have to take this,” he muttered as he strode back to the bathroom. “I told you not to call me until you had it fixed” you heard him before the closing of the door muffled his anger.
He left you there to stew in your nervousness and self loathing. Five minutes had gone by and the rational part of your brain was slowly taking over. The rational part of your brain was angry. It’s okay for him to have a bad day and not want to talk about it but the way he’s spoken to you and responded to you isn’t warranted. You needed to confront him calmly and if he was still angry you needed to ask him to leave. You can talk to him another time but not while he’s angry. It won’t do anyone any good. Just like you’ve talked about in therapy.
You rehearsed the lines in your head and finished your glass. You heard the door open again and almost threw everything you had been going over in your head out the window. Just breathe. It’s fine, he calmed down so quickly after that time in the alley, he’ll understand.
_____
Steve was angry. With Clint for getting the dates of Pierce’s arrival wrong, with Sam for failing to get the recon they needed to get the drop on him. Even angrier with Bucky for taking all of this out on him when it wasn’t even his fault. But most of all he was angry with himself for letting his work get in the way of your time together. He promised you undivided attention and you deserved it.
He knew how important your day off was to you and after the day he’d been having he couldn’t wait to just come back to you. He just wanted to make some decent spaghetti and melt the worries of his day off with your embrace. He craved the physical comfort he got from you after a long day. The feeling of endlessly sinking into your arms while you held him in bed allowed him to be the vulnerable one for once. He never felt comfortable enough with any of the other women he’d dated to even entertain the idea of being the little spoon.
He always suspected that who he was at work was almost the only reason any of the other women had even gone out with him. Who he was at work was almost a front for the art-loving, touch-starved, hopeless-romantic that he was when he let himself relax. They’d all just wanted this big burly man who was always in charge, a walking wall of muscle and testosterone that they had seen and heard of him to be when he was on the job. But when he was on his own time he just wanted to feel comfort more than anything.
He just wanted to melt into you.
That’s why he was eager to get to you today but the constant calls were cutting him to his last nerve. Bucky was out with Natasha and her parents so he specifically asked not to be called. Being the boss, Bucky was not to be bothered. Being second in command, Steve was.
When he hung up with Clint he exited the bathroom and walked straight past you without a word, knowing you didn’t want to hear about work and talking about it would just make him angrier. He started unloading the grocery bag with maybe a bit more vigor than was necessary.
Remembering he had opened a beer that was probably warm by now he turned to you and grabbed it off the table you were sat at. At this moment he looked up and you had this look on your face he couldn’t quite place. He wanted to know what was up so he asked but you just ended up stammering out a response that didn’t make much sense.
He was trying to listen to you, he really was but he just couldn’t work around this building anger, couldn’t let it go. So of course his phone rings again. And of course he takes it. Excusing himself and locking the bathroom door behind him again he was already forming how to lay into his men on the other line without raising his voice and alarming you too much.
“I told you not to call me unless you had it fixed” he seethed into the receiver. Steve pounded his fist against the porcelain of your sink in aggravation. “I’m not fucking coming down there tonight. I shouldn’t have to be taking fucking phone calls to solve this kinda shit when I’m with my girl. Lose their tail, re-track them, and we’ll deal with the rest in the morning. Don’t call me again unless someone fucking gets shot”, Steve hung up abruptly and took a deep breath.
He wasn’t even sure what he was going to say to you so he just waited a minute to collect himself. He took another deep breath and readied himself to go back to you.
_________
You were sitting quietly at the table, silently digging your nails into your palm as you tensed your fist. Steve had exited the bathroom and taken a seat across from you. You decided to see if he’d speak first and waited.
A beat of silence and you sighed deeply, readying yourself to talk to him like you’d planned.
“Steve, I understand you’re having a bad day and it’s probably work related. That being said, just because you’re mad at someone else doesn’t mean you get to take it out on me” You blew out a shaky breath, wanting to finish before you lost your nerve and before he interjected. You didn’t dare make eye contact. Only stared at his hands on the table in front of you.
“If- if you’re mad don’t take it out on me, and if you feel like you can’t control that anger I don’t want you around me while you feel that way. If you want to talk through it or just work past it then I’m here. But if you’re going to snap at me again and just be mad then you need to leave. It’s not fair to me.”
I’m pretty sure Dr. Danforth would be fucking proud of me right now. Straight to the point but respectful, just like we talked about. And even if Steve’s mad, you’re in control. You’re doing great.
You braved a peek at his face at this point and he looked stunned himself. He’s probably never been spoken to like that in his life, being the second in command and all. You watched his brows bunch together in what you hoped was thought and not frustration for you and waited for him to speak.
________
Oh. Steve was a little struck by what you’d said. Have I been that bad? She’s shaking like a leaf, of course I must have been that bad. He’d had no idea that he even snapped at you, that’s how wrapped up in his own business and his head he was. He never meant to take it out on you, didn’t even realize he had. Sometimes it was like he was so deep into his work life he couldn’t take himself out of it. But he wanted to try, for you.
He remained silent while he pulled the chair across from you out and took a seat. He looked up to meet your gaze only to find you staring at your hands. You were digging your nails into your palms so he brought one large warm hand to cover yours and brought the other up to your face gently to get you to look at him. You flinched away from him and he felt another strike of surprise, but also maybe a hint of shame. Is she afraid of me? Normally Steve likes when people are afraid of him, makes his job easier, but he’d never want that from you.
“Sweetheart”, Steve’s voice was just above a whisper when you finally looked up at him.
“I’m… sorry, that’s really it I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take it out on you. I didn’t even realize I did.” He apologized.
____________
You could feel your tears subsiding and finally brought yourself to look at him. He looked just as exhausted before, just a little bit more sad. You imagined it was probably easy for him to get swept up in who he was at work so it must be hard to separate himself from it since it requires so much from him. You don’t want him to feel bad for being upset, you just want him to be more aware of himself and to not take things out on you.
“Steve, I know we said you wouldn’t talk about work when we’re together but I don’t want you to feel like you can’t talk to me if you have a bad day. Maybe you can keep it vague but I don’t want you to feel like you can’t say anything or be yourself, unless of course you don’t want to, I don’t want to force you to talk about anything either. When you snapped at me I just sorta shut down” You explained.
Steve seemed to be processing your words and forming a response when he took your hand in his to stop your nails from ripping into your palms like they often do. He nodded and took a breath.
“You have no idea how much it means to hear that from you, thank you. Just for the record, I never feel like I can’t be myself with you, it’s opposite, really. When I’m with you I get to drop all that bullshit at the door. Girls in the past have just wanted me because I was scary but seeing the way you flinched just now, I don’t ever want you to feel scared of me.” Steve confessed.
Maybe it’s time to tell him about the engagement, let him know where you’re coming from. You blew out a shaky breath and looked away from him again.
“I, um, I’m not scared of you. Years ago I was engaged to a man and things were really bad, he was really bad. I’m not ready to talk about all of it but that’s why I shut down on you when you snapped. I’ve been through a lot of therapy and I’m still working on it, but I’m not afraid of you. Sorry I didn’t tell you earlier, it’s… kind of a sore subject” you admitted.
Steve’s nostrils flared and his grip on your hand tightened a little but you could tell he was trying everything he could to school his features and reply to you.
“I… didn’t know that I’m sorry.” he said as he ran his thumb over your knuckles. “If you ever wanna talk about it more, I’m here. And if you don’t, I understand.”
You stood from your chair and came around behind him to throw your arms around his neck. You kissed his cheek and rested your head against his.
“Thank you for listening and apologizing. I forgive you. And if you wanna talk about your day then I’m here.” You assured him.
Steve turned his head to capture your lips in a soft kiss which you reciprocated. Steve stood to his full height without breaking the kiss and brought his hands up to frame your face. The warmth was comforting again to you. Your tongue slipped into his mouth and he elicited the softest of sighs before returning your passion.
He broke the kiss while his hands explored your curves. “I want to make it up to you, will you let me do that, sweetheart?” he asked.
You could only look up at him with eyes blown wide with lust and affection. You nodded and he kissed you swiftly before leading you to your bedroom. You were holding his hand when he let go and softly urged you backwards onto the bed. You obliged and soon he was on top of you laying feather-light kisses to the column of your neck.
Your hands mussed his hair and smoothed out the tension in his shoulders as you held onto him. He kissed his way lower and lifted up the hem of our shirt and kissed his way back up to your breasts. You sat up slightly and took off your top and unhooked your bra, letting it fall before throwing it to the side. Steve took turns taking your nipples between his teeth and teasing them, licking and kissing them. He knew it always made you squirm and would build the anticipation before you could even touch him.
“Steve, please.” You whined.
Wordlessly he kissed and bit his way lower and undid your shorts. You arched your back to help him remove them along with your panties. Steve wasted no time and administered the smallest of licks to your clit. You gasped slightly at the feeling when you felt two fingers prodding your entrance before going in. Your body was getting accustomed to the initial wave of pleasure brought on by Steve’s movement and slowly you ground your hips against his hand and cried out softly.
Normally Steve would never let that fly, he was always so controlling and dominant in bed but tonight was different. Tonight was soft and he was making it up to you, showing his love in a physical way. So he let you push him deeper and raise your hips just so to reach the perfect angle. You felt yourself tighten around him and this is the point he usually slows down just to drag things out but your loud cries only fueled him as he doubled his efforts. With a final cry you came around his fingers, white heat blinding your vision momentarily.
You caught your breath and looked down at Steve. His beard was absolutely drenched and he sucked his fingers clean. You could almost cum again just from the sight of it. He wiped his mouth on a tissue before returning to you to give you a kiss. You tasted yourself on him but you didn’t care, you just wanted his mouth on yours. You felt his erection pressing against your thighs and it had you squirming all over again. You reached to undo his belt when he stopped you.
“This night is supposed to be about you, doll. I’ll be fine” He protested.
You shook your head at him. “I want you, all of you. Please, Steve”, you begged.
He nodded and undid his belt. You helped undress and when he was finally naked you felt the rush of heat to your core all over again, an itch you couldn’t scratch. You laid back further on the bed and soon he was above you, face inches from yours and one arm at the side of your head.
His cock nudged against your core and entered slowly to stretch you out. You moaned deeply and when he was all the way in he kissed you passionately and began moving. It didn’t take much for him to pick up the pace as he started to fuck you. He swore under his breath at the feeling of you.
“You’re so, so, good sweetheart. So fuckin’ good.” He praised.
His words made you keen as you let the feeling of him making love to you take you over completely. His lips grazed yours in between grunts and he moved one hand to your clit while the other cradled the back of your head. You held onto his shoulders tightly and sobbed out pleas for him to keep going. His thrusts picked up speed and so did his hand. You were so close to the edge and you could feel he was too.
“I love you” he panted out before his hips lunged forward into you one last time before he came inside of you.
The shock of his confession and his work on your clit triggered your second orgasm. It was powerful and had you clawing his back and gasping in pleasure. He’d never said that before. Did he mean it? You looked to him for the answer but his lips caught yours as he gave a few last lazy thrusts. He finally collapsed to your side and was heaving to catch his breath.
You both laid there basking in the afterglow of the makeup sex for a few minutes. You turned on your side to look at him. He was so perfect like this, so at ease.
“Did you.. Mean it? What you said?” You questioned nervously. You really wanted him to mean it.
He turned slowly to look at you and he was blushing. “Yeah, I did. I know it’s kind of soon and you don’t have to say it back, but I couldn’t help it. I love you” he confided.
“I love you too, I’m not just saying it cause I feel like I have to, I love you Steve Rogers. All of you.” you assured him.
The softest of kisses was laid on your lips. This moment with him was perfect.
“I can’t believe you love me. I’m so sorry about earlier. I feel so comforted when I’m with you, the last thing I want is to lose you. I promise I will do everything I can to never be like your ex. Ever. If I’m being a dick I want you to tell me,” He apologized again.
You were about to respond when his stomach let out the loudest groan. You both laughed as you sat up.
“I did promise you dinner. Unburned this time!” Steve pledged as he helped you gather up your clothes.
“That’s a promise I’m going to hold you to, Rogers.”

you are my home
this started out as a little concept, and then i thought it might be fun to write a whole fic out of it!
(side note: I know we have no idea if sarah and mitch are having a boy or girl, so i just went with girl ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
warnings: angst, relationship struggles, arguments
word count: 11.5k (the longest thing i've ever written :) )
"Just an eighth of a cup?"
"That's what it says," Harry shrugged, looking at the recipe on his phone. "Look, one eighth cup of milk. Right here-" He tilted the screen toward you.
"I believe you, it's just weird, it doesn't seem like a lot," you mused, but followed his instructions anyways. You were making chicken parmesan, and the two of you had a rather long history of butchered recipes. It was usually because you were too wrapped up in each other to read the recipe properly. Or because Harry would start kissing you while the food was cooking, murmuring against your lips that "we have plenty of time". Unfortunately, he usually got carried away, leaving you with a flushed face and burnt food.
Not this time, though. You were determined to make this one right. You stirred the milk into the mixture, watching carefully and turning the heat down when it began to bubble.
"Now... we just have to wait while it simmers for a few minutes," you said, setting the spatula down in the spoon rest. "So far, so good."
"I can think of something for us to do for a few minutes," Harry grinned, wrapping his arms around your waist. He leaned down, beginning to kiss your neck, but you quickly squirmed away.
"Nope, not this time," you grabbed the spatula again, brandishing it like a weapon. "Stay back. We're not taking any chances with this one. I'm tired of throwing out charred food and ordering pizza."
"Pizza is good, though," he argued, stepping closer again as you moved farther away.
"Not as good as our homemade chicken parmesan will be if you can just be patient for three minutes."
"Three minutes?" He practically whined.
You rolled your eyes. "You will be fine for three minutes. Wait until the food is done."
He huffed, leaning back against the counter with his arms crossed. "Can't believe you're depriving me of your love like this."
"Yes, you're so terribly deprived," you said sarcastically. "it's not like I've been by your side constantly for the past 72 hours."
"Well, time flies when you're with the love of your life."
You smiled, stepping forward to give him a quick peck on the cheek. Just one. He grabbed at your forearms, trying to keep you close, but you jumped back.
"No," you said sternly. "The food is almost done and I'm not burning this one too."
"Fine," he groaned. "But speaking of 72 hours... I was wondering about something."
You hummed questioningly, stirring the sauce.
"I was just kind of thinking... I mean, we're together all the time. When we're in the States we're together at your place, and when we're in London we're together at mine. So do you think... maybe we should just... officially move in together?"
You froze, suddenly feeling your heart thudding. It's not like you hadn't thought about it before. You had; a lot, actually. Of course you wanted to live with him. You hated being apart from him, and you knew he felt the same about you.
But still, moving to a whole different continent is a pretty big step. You didn't know how that would work for your job, and you weren't exactly excited to be so far away from all your friends and family.
"You don't have to answer right now," He was quick to interject, seemingly noticing how worried you looked. "Not at all. I just... I think it would be nice to have you with me. I just hate all the back and forth, and I'd kind of like to have a place we can call home together."
A small smile spread over your face as you thought about how nice it really would be. You thought of waking up on a rainy morning, cuddled into his side as you listened to the raindrops patter on the window. You thought of baking cookies in the kitchen with him. Taking bubble baths together. Going on walks in the park every evening. All of that would be so much better if it didn't have an end date lurking around the corner. If you knew you wouldn't have to fly back home in a few days or weeks or months.
"It would be really nice," you agreed. "I just... what about my work and stuff?"
"We can figure that out," he said. "We can do it however you want. I'm sure they could set it up so you can work remotely, or you could get a different job in London, or... you don't actually have to work if you don't want to."
"What, just be your little housewife?" you teased, looking over your shoulder at him.
"No," he grinned. "Well, maybe-"
You turned and snapped a hand towel at him before he could finish that sentence. He jumped away, grinning boyishly and holding his hands up in surrender.
"That's not how I meant it, and you know it. But seriously, if you don't want to work you don't have to."
"I would like to be there with you, and know I don't have to leave anytime soon," you said thoughtfully.
"Like I said, you don't have to decide right now. Why don't you just think about it? As much as I want you to, it is a big decision and I don't want you to rush into anything you're not okay with."
Before you could speak again, the timer on your phone went off.
"That's the sauce," you said, turning around and turning the gas off. "See? It's not so hard to keep your hands off of me for long enough to cook a meal, is it?"
He scoffed. "Speak for yourself. I nearly died. Of lonliness."
-----
In the next few days, you thought about Harry's offer a lot. You couldn't deny that you really liked the idea. What could be better than living with the love of your life? Never having to leave to pick up more clothes, never forgetting something important at home, always being in the same country as him. There were just a few things you worried about. Your job, for one. Yes, Harry had offered for you to quit working, but you weren’t sure if that was the best idea. You liked your job, and being able to earn your own money.
Harry was probably right; it probably could be done remotely. But you would kind of miss seeing your coworkers, at least the few you had been close with.
Then there was the matter of your friends. You would really miss having girls' nights, and gossiping about their boyfriends, and getting mani-pedis every month. Sure, you knew you would be back to visit. But you also knew it would be different.
Then, the thing you were most worried about: your family. You had always been close with them, especially your mom. You went to see her and your dad every week, and you called them almost every day. You weren't sure how well you would cope with being so far away from them.
But at the same time, you were incredibly excited by the idea of moving to London. You had been there before, of course, but never for longer than a few weeks. You wanted to get the full experience. You wanted Harry to show you around, take you to his favorite places. You wanted to go to the town he grew up in, see the bakery he never shut up about. You wanted to be a part of his life, in every way.
So, a week after he first asked you, you made up your mind. You were laying on the couch with him, tracing over his tattoos with your fingers while some cooking show played. He was pretty involved, every so often groaning or shaking his head or tsking at the contestants' "complete lack of skills." You weren't paying any attention, though. You were trying to decide how to bring up the conversation from earlier.
Eventually, you decided to just go for it.
"Harry?" you asked, not looking up from your fingers on his arms.
"Hm?" He replied, peeling his eyes away from the screen to look at you.
"I was thinking... about what you said the other day."
"Yeah?" He sat up more, muting the TV. "What about it?"
"I just think- I mean, there's still some stuff to figure out, but I would really like to move into your place in London."
"Really?" His face lit up.
You nodded. "I'm a little worried about my work, and leaving my family and friends, but... I want to be with you. I hate when one of us has to leave. I just want to go to sleep next to you, and wake up next to you, and not have an end date hanging over my head every time we're together."
"I like the sound of that," he smiled, pressing a kiss to the back of your hand. "And like I said, we'll figure out your work. And we'll come back to visit whenever you want to. It's only like... a nine hour flight."
"Right, basically nothing," you laughed, leaning your head against his shoulder.
"Right," he smiled. "But really. Any time you need to see your people, we'll come see them."
"We?"
He nodded, seeming confused by your questioning tone.
"You wouldn't have to do that," you shook your head. "I don't want to make you-"
"I want to." He cut you off. "I'm not going to just let you fly for 18 hours all alone. Plus, I'd miss you too much while you were gone."
"That's sweet," you said, a light flush heating up your face. "Also, my family might be disappointed if I came back and you weren't with me. I think they like you more than me at this point."
"That was the plan all along," he grinned.
You hit his arm playfully, but didn't move your head. "So what would that look like?"
"Well, really we could do whatever you want to. We could just move all your stuff into my place, or if you wanted, we could maybe find somewhere new? Somewhere that's just ours."
"Harry, we are not buying a whole new house when you basically have a mansion. That would be stupid."
"I'm actually really glad you feel that way. That mansion was bloody expensive."
-----
"How much longer until your lease is up?" Harry's impatient voice came through the phone.
"One less day than when I told you yesterday," you rolled your eyes. He was worse than a kid waiting for Christmas. He asked nearly every day if he could just pay off the lease for you and have you move right then. Your answer was always no; you had decided to finish it out on your own. Kind of like closing one chapter of your life before you start another.
There were just two weeks left now, and the evidence was all around the place. You and Harry had started to box up your smaller items, and the space already felt much less like home. You had taken pictures off the walls; cleared trinkets off the bookshelves. In the next few days, you were going to go through your clothes and decide what would come with you and what would be donated.
Harry had been excited to help with the whole process, but he had to go back to London a week earlier than he planned. Of course, you weren't happy about this, but you kind of liked having some time alone to say goodbye to the place you had called home for the past five years.
So you did just that. You wandered around, smiling at the patched spot in the wall from when Harry had knocked over a lamp stumbling around in the dark. You ran your fingers over the slight scorch mark on the table from when you made dinner, but forgot to set down a potholder. Your toe scuffled over the nail polish stain on the rug, from when Harry had tried to paint your nails.
All these little things made your little apartment feel like your home. You would miss them, but you had realized something as you thought back to all the memories. Most of them had been with Harry. Yes, you were leaving some memories behind, but you weren't leaving HIM behind. You would make new memories together, wherever you lived. As long as it was together.
"It's just two weeks, baby, and then we'll be together."
"Two weeks is so long," he sighed.
"It'll go by fast," you promised. "It is for me. I'm keeping busy over here."
"Me too," he took on an offended tone. "Very busy. I'm doing lots of things."
"What have you been up to?" You asked, settling back onto the couch. It was weird to see how empty your space was, but it was nice to be able to put your feet on the coffee table without knocking over the various decorations that usually adorned it.
"Some work stuff, but mostly clearing out space for you. You have a lot of stuff."
"I do not," you scoffed. "I probably have less hair products than you do."
"Hey," he cried. "Rude. My hair is luxurious. It takes a lot of upkeep."
You smiled, shaking your head.
“I moved a lot of stuff into the guest closet, so you can have half of the one in our room."
"Really?" You asked, a little surprised. You knew how well organized he kept his closet, so it was a little shocking that he was willing to just move everything.
"Of course. You'll be living here too, you need someplace to keep your clothes."
"I don't think I'll be able to fill half of your closet, though," you laughed.
"Guess we'll have to go shopping, then!" He chirped.
"I guess," you agreed with a smile.
You heard muffled voices in the background before Harry spoke again.
"I'm sorry, love, but I have to go." he sounded frustrated. "I'll call you later, okay?"
"Okay. Love you!"
"Love you too."
-----
"Today's the day!" Harry practically yelled through the phone.
"I know!" You said, trying to match his enthusiasm. You were slightly less excited. After all, you still had a nine hour flight ahead of you. But you knew that by this time tomorrow, you would officially be living with Harry, and that made it worth it.
"Do you have everything packed?" He asked.
"Pretty much. I'm just throwing the last of my stuff into my bag."
"Did you make a shopping list for when you get here?"
"I was gonna do that on the plane. It'll be something for me to do," you said, turning on the speakerphone so you could move around more freely.
"Yeah, good plan," he agreed. "I've said this a few times already, but I'm so excited for you to be here with me."
"Have you? Have you really said it a few times? I wasn't aware," you laughed.
"Be nice to me, I'm just happy," he said, and you could practically hear the smile in his voice.
"I know, I'm sorry," you shook your head with a smile. "I'm excited too. But I have to go now, I have to finish packing."
"Ok," he replied sadly. "See you soon!"
-----
You spotted him right after you got off the plane. He was standing near the gate, searching the crowd expectantly. Once he locked eyes with you, his face lit up in a huge smile. He made his way through the crowd, meeting you with open arms. He acted like he hadn't seen you in weeks, even though it had only been four days.
He buried his face in your neck, holding you tightly against him.
"I missed you," he murmured.
"I missed you too," you breathed deeply, inhaling his familiar scent. "But I'm here now. And now we can go home."
"Yeah," he grinned. "Home."
-----
"Harry, the movers can carry some of it, that's their job," you reminded him as he grabbed one of the boxes.
"Yeah, but it'll go faster if I carry some stuff," he argued, motioning to the door with his head. "Open that for me?"
You did as he asked, shaking your head as he brought the box of books inside. He insisted on helping, even though he had hired a team of movers to do this for you.
"Where do you wanna put these?" He asked, looking around the living room. "They can go on the shelf in here, or the one in our room."
"I'm not sure, I think I want some in here and some in the room. Why don't we go through them later?"
"Sounds good," he nodded, setting the box down in front of the bookshelf. "Another box!"
You shook your head again, going into the kitchen as he went back outside. You started going through the cupboards, checking to make sure you didn’t have any duplicates on your shopping list. He already had quite a few of the items you needed, so you could remove several things.
Once the last few boxes had been brought in, and Harry had thanked the movers profusely, he collapsed on the couch.
"I told you you shouldn't have done so much, now you're all tired out," you joked, going to sit next to him.
He nodded. "You were right. I need a nap after all that." He got up, pushing you to lay down and then crawling on top of you. He laid his head on your stomach, sighing contentedly when you ran your fingers through his hair.
"Oh wait," he lifted his head, already sounding half asleep. "We didn't even get groceries yet. We have to-" He began to get up, but you stopped him with a gentle hand on his face.
You shook your head, running your thumb over his cheekbone lightly. "We can do that later, baby. Just go to sleep for a while."
"Yeah," he nodded slightly. "I'm just gonna go to sleep for a while."
"Okay," you smiled. "Sweet dreams."
-----
When Harry woke up, he was alone on the couch. He frowned at the lack of warmth, grabbing the blanket from the back of the couch and pulling it around himself. He wasn't sure how you had managed to get out from under him without waking him, but he wasn't happy about it.
He planned to go back to sleep, but sighed when his phone buzzed. He reached for it, but then paused for a minute. He decided whatever it was could wait. He retracted his arm, pulling the blanket tighter around himself and snuggling into the back of the couch.
Just as he was about to drift off, his phone began buzzing again. This time, it didn't stop. He groaned, but grabbed it this time. He squinted at the bright light, trying to make out who was trying so hard to contact him.
It was Jeff. There were two missed calls and a text. He swiped on the text, his frown deepening as he read the message.
Jeff: I'm sure you're going to see this soon enough, but the moving van was spotted outside your house. There's already a few articles out, and I'm sure there'll be more. Just wanted to let you know so you don't have to hear it from some trashy website, and maybe you should let Y/N know to stay away from socials for a while. Sorry about this.
Harry groaned, throwing his arm over his face. He had known this was likely to happen, but at the same time he had hoped it wouldn't. He was so happy right now, and he didn't need that to be tainted by rude articles and crazy fans and speculations about his relationships. He just wanted to sit back and relax with his love for a few days, but apparently that was too much for him to ask.
Normally, he wouldn't even look at the articles. He knew they would only be upsetting. This time, though, he felt like he should. He wasn't sure how you would react to this, and it might be easier if he knew what you would be seeing all over the internet for the next week.
So, he opened google and searched "harry styles". Instantly, his screen filled with pictures of the moving van outside his house. There were even a few pictures of him carrying boxes, and one of your back as you walked inside. He huffed angrily. This was supposed to be a happy day, and now he was in a bad mood. His privacy had been violated yet again, and it was hard for him to stay positive after that.
Then he began scrolling through the article titles. He rolled his eyes at the baited language that was clearly meant to create negative responses.
"HARRY STYLES seen MOVING BOXES? Is he going out... or is someone coming in?"
"Harry Styles spotted with NEWEST GIRLFRIEND"
"ANOTHER GIRL? HARRY SHARES HIS HOUSE... YET AGAIN!"
"Just a friend? Or Harry's latest lover?"
"Guess which FORMER ONE DIRECTION STAR is shacking up with his SECRET GIRLFRIEND!"
Against his better judgement, he clicked on one of the articles. His heart sunk further with every sentence he read.
"It's no secret that Harry Styles has been with a lot of women (read about each of his past relationships here). But is there someone new for the Watermelon Sugar singer?
A moving van was spotted outside of Harry's house today, and the star was seen moving boxes into his 8.7 million dollar mansion.
As if that’s not enough, there was a woman seen heading into the house with Harry. Could this mean a new romance for the Grammy winning artist? Well, don’t be too sure. There are many possible explanations for these new living arrangements. Maybe she’s a friend going through a hard time, or even just a family member who needs a couch to crash on.
Or maybe she’s Harry’s newest conquest. Yet another notch in the bed stand! Way to go, Styles!
However, we can’t help but notice: she doesn’t seem like Harry’s type. Come on girl, leggings and a hoodie? And that hair? Apparently, she’s not trying too hard to impress him.
We don’t know all the details yet, but stay tuned! We’ve reached out to Harry’s management for more information. Check back for more updates, and subscribe to our email list so you don’t miss anything!”
Harry clicked off his phone with a sigh. He stood up from the couch, keeping the blanket wrapped around him as he made his way into the kitchen.
No matter how upset he was, he was sure the sight in front of him would always bring a smile to his face. You were wearing one of his t-shirts, dancing slightly to your music as you stirred the pot in front of you. Harry leaned against the door frame, giving himself a few minutes to take this in. He couldn’t believe he would get to experience this every day from now on.
With a fond smile still on his face, he walked over to you. He wrapped his arms around your waist, adjusting the blanket so it draped over your shoulders as well.
“Hi,” you smiled, leaning back against him. “Did you have a good nap?”
“Would have been better if you didn’t get up,” he pouted, resting his chin on your shoulder to look into the pot.
“Oh please, you were totally dead to the world. I’ve been in here for half an hour now, and you only just woke up.”
“Still,” he said, turning his head to kiss your cheek. “What are you making?”
“Mac ‘n’ cheese,” you explained. “I wasn’t in the mood to do any real cooking.”
“Sounds delicious,” he smiled. “S’it almost done?”
“Should be like five more minutes,” you glanced over at the timer on your phone. “Want to get the plates?”
“No, just want to hold you,” he said, pressing his face further into your neck. “I’m not awake yet.”
“Fine,” you said, setting the spoon down. “Then you gotta walk with me, because I need to set the table.”
“I can do that,” he said, his voice muffled.
You smiled, moving around the room to get everything you needed while Harry clung to you like a koala. The smell of food seemed to perk him up, because within a few minutes he was lifting his head and leaning less of his weight on you.
“Smells really good, love,” he said, finally pulling himself away from you.
“I know, I’m an amazing chef,” you grinned, lifting the pot off the stove and bringing it to the table. This time, you remembered to set down a potholer. You didn’t really want to ruin this table that probably cost more than your entire apartment.
“You are,” he agreed, pulling out your chair before sitting down next to you. He scooted his chair closer, moving the blanket again so you were both under it.
His mood seemed to change suddenly as he was piling the food onto your plates.
“I have to tell you something,” he said, looking more upset than you had seen in a while.
“What?” You asked, turning slightly to face him.
“I don’t really… there’s no nice way to say it,” he said, avoiding your eyes. “Someone took pictures of the moving van and us bringing stuff in, and there’s some pretty nasty articles.”
“Oh,” you said quietly. You weren’t quite sure how to respond to that. It’s not like you didn’t expect this, but you had hoped to have a few peaceful days with Harry before being attacked by the media. “Is it- how bad is it?”
“It’s... not good,” he sighed. “I wouldn’t recommend looking at it. That stuff is terrible, always has been. They always seem to know exactly how to tear people down; make you feel bad about yourself. You might wanna stay off social media, just for a few days until some of the crazies calm down.”
You nodded. “I’m sorry.”
“What?” he looked up quickly. “Why are you sorry? I’m the one that should be sorry, they’re writing terrible stuff about you, and it’s my fault.”
“It’s not your fault,” you were quick to shut him down. “And I’m sure it bothers you too. I know you don’t like when they get personal information.”
“No, I really don’t,” he agreed. “But I wish they left you out of it.”
“Well, it doesn’t matter now,” you said, leaning your head on his arm. “Because now I’m here, and we’re together, and I don’t have to leave anytime soon.”
-----
After dinner, Harry decided you should get some more of your things put away. He brought your bag to the bathroom, dumping everything out onto the vanity.
“Why do you have so many bottles?” He asked, picking up the closest one.
“Because,” you said, grabbing it out of his hands. “They all do different things. This one is moisturizer, this one makes sure my skin doesn’t get too oily-”
“So why don’t you just not use either of them? Seems like they cancel each other out anyways.”
You shot him a glare. “That’s not how it works. Anyways, this one's for dark spots. These glass ones are mineral oils. This blue one is for wrinkles- you know, gotta get ahead of those- and this one is rose water. It doesn’t really do anything, it basically just smells good. Then that’s my hair stuff- and I was right by the way, you do have way more than I do. And this is a face mask, and that one close to the sink is a hair mask, and this little tub is an exfoliator, and this cloth is a makeup remover, but it’s better for the environment than individual wipes. And then my makeup is here- so liquid foundation, setting powder, blush, concealer, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, and the brushes. I actually don’t have that much stuff,” you shrugged, looking at the bottles splayed everywhere.
“Right… not that much stuff,” he said, his eyes wide. “It’s a good thing I asked Gemma how she organizes all her stuff, because she told me to get one of these things.” He opened the cupboard under the sink, pulling out a spinning makeup organizer. “Hopefully all of your million bottles fit on this.”
“You got this for me?” you asked, smiling. “That’s so nice of you.”
“Well, I don’t think your stuff would have fit in the drawers,” he said, running a hand through his hair.
“Oh, shush,” you rolled your eyes. “Help me get all this organized, will you?”
-----
The next week was pretty smooth, minus that little hiccup with the press. You did as Harry suggested, and stayed off Twitter and Instagram. You didn’t think it would be too bad, but you had gotten a few texts from concerned family and friends that made you wonder how bad it really was.
Either way, you didn’t really want to look. You and Harry were essentially honeymooning, and you weren’t about to let a few nasty articles ruin it.
“We haven’t gone for groceries yet,” Harry reminded you, coming up behind you as you did your morning skincare routine.
“Yeah, I kind of forgot about that,” you said, closing the bottle of moisturizer. “We can go whenever, just let me get dressed.”
He nodded. “What all do we need?”
“I don’t think there’s too much, but we need some fruit. Most of yours is bad at this point.”
“Yeah, that happens.” He laughed. “I usually buy a whole bunch and then end up having to leave, so then I come home to a fridge full of rotten fruit.”
“Lovely,” you joked. “I also need some chips, all your snacks are healthy.”
“I have no idea what chips are, but we can buy some crisps, if that’s what you meant,” he smiled at you in the mirror.
“Shut up,” you rolled your eyes, hitting his arm playfully. “I’m not going to call them crisps just because I live here now. I’m still American.”
“Fine, but when we have kids, they will not be using your American words. I’m not letting you corrupt my children like that.”
“You’re so annoying.”
“Well then, it’s too bad you moved in with me, isn’t it?”
-----
“Ooh, we need these!” Harry said, grabbing a bag of brownie bites.
“Why do we need those?”
“Because they’re delicious,” he said, looking at you like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“If you say so,” you shrugged, pushing the cart forward after he threw the bag in. “Where is the pasta?”
“Aisle 17,” he answered immediately.
“Is it really?” You asked, a little surprised he had the aisle numbers memorized.
“I have no idea,” he laughed. “It’s just the first number that popped into my head. I think it’s that way? Or maybe over here…” he trailed off, like he was trying to remember where to go. “I actually have no idea.”
“Wow, you're so helpful.”
“I know,” he grinned. “I don’t know, just start wandering around and we’ll find it eventually.”
“What a plan,” you shook your head, but followed him anyway. It’s not like you were in any rush, and you were both having a good time.
“Oh look!” You said, turning into an aisle. “I found the chips.”
“The what?” Harry called from the next row over. “I thought you said something, but I must have heard you wrong.”
“No, I just said I found the chips,” you repeated. “You know, little cooked potato slices?”
“I’m sorry love, I have no idea what you’re talking about,” He said, joining you in the aisle. “Oh, silly me. You meant crisps!”
“Nope,” you grabbed a bag of Doritos. “I meant exactly what I said.” You placed the bag in the cart, turning back to Harry. You leaned up on your tiptoes, moving closer to his face. “Chips,” you whispered, before pressing a quick kiss to his cheek and then turning around again.
“You can’t seduce me into calling them the wrong name,” he scoffed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you shrugged, pushing the cart away. “Did you find the pasta yet?”
“No, but I did find the ice cream,” he said, easily catching up to you with his long legs.
“Ooh, I think that’s where we need to go next.”
“I agree,” he grinned, steering the cart in the right direction. “I think we should probably just get all of them, ya know? That way we won’t miss out on anything good.”
“Harry, there’s like thirty different flavors here,” you laughed. “We are not getting that much ice cream, we don’t even have that much space in the freezer.”
“No, that’s just because I have a bunch of frozen food in there. It’s mostly vegetables. Not that important. I can just throw that all away,” he argued, already opening the freezer door to reach for some ice cream.
“We are not buying thirty cartons of ice cream,” you shook your head. “We can get, like, ten, at most. Even that-”
“You already said ten!” he said, pressing a finger against your lips. “You can’t go back on that now. So pick some flavors!”
-----
“Which one do we want to try first?” He asked, looking at the large selection you had bought.
“Um… I think the salted caramel core,” you decided, picking up the carton of ice cream.
“Oh! You know what we need with all of this?”
“Insulin?”
“No,” he rolled his eyes, grabbing one of the bags from earlier and pulling out the brownie bites. “I told you we needed these, they’ll go perfect with the ice cream.”
“Ooh,” you nodded. “That’s a good idea.”
“I know,” he said proudly. “I’m full of good ideas. Actually, I have another one. Let’s go watch The Office while we eat our delicious brownie bites.”
“Ok, but if you put on the UK version I might have to leave.”
“I would never,” he said in an offended tone. “I’m not a monster.”
-----
“I don’t want to go back to work,” he sighed. “I just wanna stay here with you.”
“I know,” you said, tracing patterns on his chest. “But I have to start working again too. I don’t think my boss is too happy about this whole arrangement, so I have to make everything twice as good so she’ll let me keep doing it this way.”
“Yeah,” he said, running his fingers through your hair. “I’m saying again, you could just quit.”
“I’m not quitting,” you shook your head. “I like my job. And I can do it all from the house, so it’s a really good deal.”
“I wish I could do that,” he sighed again.
“That wouldn’t work,” you smiled. “If we were both here all day, neither of us would get anything done.”
“You might be right,” he laughed. “You’re very distracting.”
“Oh, I’m distracting?”
“Very,” he grinned. You recognized the look in his eyes, and you knew if you didn’t get up soon you wouldn’t any time in the next hour
So before he could move too far and start kissing at your neck, you rolled off him.
“I have to get ready for work,” you said, getting out of bed.
“What do you mean get ready? You don’t have to go anywhere, we have all the time in the world,” he pouted, reaching out his arm for you.
“I don’t, but you do. Jeff has been texting you nonstop, and Sarah called the other day and told me she’s getting restless at home. So I’m taking the baby today, so all of you can get some work in.”
“You are? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because, if you knew we were having the baby here, you would come up with some excuse to stay here.”
“Maybe,” he smiled, still making no moves to get up. “She’s just so cute.”
“Well, sometime we can offer to babysit so Sarah and Mitch can go out for the evening or something. But you have to go in today, so you should probably get dressed.”
He groaned, flopping his head back into the pillows.
-----
“Harry! They’re here!” You called, opening the door and inviting Sarah and Mitch in. “Hi guys, Harry’s being a drama queen today so I’m not sure when he’ll be down.”
“When isn’t he?” Sarah smiled, stepping into the room with the baby in her arms. Mitch was carrying the diaper bag, which he set down on the bench next to the door.
Sarah handed the baby over to you as Harry came down the stairs.
“Aw, can I hold her?” He asked, not even greeting his friends.
“No,” all three of you said at once.
“Why?” He whined before smiling at the baby in your arms.
“Because you won’t be able to put her down,” you said, laughing when the other two nodded. “See, they know I’m right.”
“Fine,” he grumbled. “But Mitch, you’re taking Sarah out tomorrow night and we’re babysitting.”
“I’m alright with that,” Sarah smiled. “Y/N, you should have everything you need in the diaper bag. There’s enough formula for a few bottles, but she won’t need to eat for an hour or so. Other than that she’ll probably sleep most of the time, she’s a pretty quiet baby. She takes after her dad.”
You nodded, bouncing her lightly. Harry was already in her face, smiling and cooing and offering his finger for her to grab. She seemed to like the attention, and was smiling right back at him.
“Harry, we have to go,” Sarah said with one hand on the doorknob.
He huffed. “Just when I start to make a connection with the child, I’m ripped away.”
You rolled your eyes. “We’ll have her tomorrow night. You can connect with her then.”
“It won’t be the same,” he said. “You know- why don’t we just take her with us? She can just come with us-” he was already moving toward you again, but Mitch grabbed his shoulder.
“No, Harry, we actually have to get some stuff done today.”
“Fine,” he groaned. “But you better send me pictures if she does anything cute,” he pointed at you.
“Everything she does is cute,” Mitch argued.
“You’re really not helping,” Sarah said, hitting his arm. “I thought I had one child, but turns out I have three.”
-----
The next few days were not very productive for Harry. He was having a hard time getting back in the swing of things, and it felt like everything he did was bad. He couldn’t write or play anything he liked. He just felt stuck.
They went over some old stuff, just so he didn’t feel like they totally wasted their time. Still, he couldn’t help but feel incredibly frustrated. He didn’t usually have issues with writers’ block, and he expected to be even better now that you were with him all the time. He had always been more productive when he got to see you, so he thought living with you would give him an extra boost. Apparently not.
Then, to make everything worse, more pictures and articles came out. Pictures from the day you had gone grocery shopping had been captured by some fan, but for some reason hadn’t come out until today.
But they were suddenly everywhere. There were even more articles than before, and this time it was worse because there were full pictures of your face. Before, there had only been one blurry shot of your back, and that alone got enough criticism. Now it was like the floodgates had opened. Every aspect of your appearance was being ripped apart, along with Harry’s “decision making”.
He saw the first article when they were taking a break for lunch one day. They had ordered some pizzas, and everyone was spread out on the couches across the room.
Harry unlocked his phone, ready to call you and ask about your day, but was instead met with another text from Jeff. Like the one before, he had advised Harry to keep you off social media for the next few days and apologized that it got this out of hand.
Sighing, he decided to see what they were saying this time.
“Harry Styles goes on a shopping spree- But who’s that with him?”
“Harry’s “new girlfriend” shops with him?”
"DID SHE MOVE IN?”“
“MYSTERY GIRL and HARRY STYLES search for the necessities!”
He clicked on one of the articles.
“Harry Styles and his mystery lady were seen shopping last week. We can’t help but think things might be getting more serious!
The former One Direction star was spotted moving boxes into his house a few weeks ago. What we thought may have just been a favor for a friend might be something much more juicy!
Maybe she’s not just another notch in the bed stand- maybe this one will stick around!
But really, if she wants to stick around- maybe she should watch what she eats. The Sign of the Times singer was searching for healthy snacks, while his newest girlfriend filled the cart with ice cream and chips. Seems like a recipe for disaster between the two!
Again, she’s seen wearing a very simple outfit. And no (or at least, very little!) makeup. Come on girl, you couldn’t have at least used a little concealer for those eye bags?
It seems like she’s just not trying very hard! We have to wonder- how long can this last?”
“Fuck’s sake,” Harry groaned, grabbing the pillow next to him and chucking it across the room.
“Harry, what’s going on?” Sarah asked. Everyone had noticed how on edge he had been lately, but no one was quite sure how to address his moodiness.
“Another article just came out,” he sighed. “It’s worse than the last one. I’m so sick of this.”
“Does Y/N know?”
Harry shrugged. He didn’t feel like talking about it anymore, but he knew they wouldn’t just leave it without knowing if you were ok.
“You should probably call her, so she doesn’t hear it from someone else,” Sarah advised. “I would want to find out from someone I loved.”
“I can’t- I really don’t want to talk to her right now.”
“Did something happen with you two?” Mitch asked, confused. The two of you had been inseparable lately, so this was strange.
Harry shook his head.
“I just- can we just not talk about it?”
He could tell they didn’t want to drop it, but one of the assistants came in with the pizza, and Harry was clearly done talking.
His mood only got worse for the rest of the day. He still couldn’t make anything new, and he was even having trouble with things he already knew. He struggled to hit the higher notes, and his throat was getting sore from trying to force it. By the time people were starting to head home, he was ready to throw a lot more than a pillow.
Harry dropped his keys when he was trying to unlock the door, and then his coat fell off the hook when he tried to hang it up. By the time he got to the kitchen, his jaw was clenched and he was fuming.
“Hi,” you said tentatively, noticing how angry he looked.
“Hi,” he said shortly, opening the fridge. “Is there anything to eat?”
“I didn’t make anything,” you said, still typing on your computer.
“You didn’t-” He shut the fridge aggressively, the bottles and containers in the door clinking against each other. “You couldn’t make supper for one night?”
“Excuse me?” You looked up, crossing your arms defensively. “I’ve been working.”
“So have I!”
“And I don’t expect you to make supper after you’ve been working all day!”
“It’s different, you’re home all day!”
“That doesn’t mean I’m not busy, Harry. You know that.”
“Well what am I supposed to do?”
“I don’t know, you could stop yelling at me for starters! I didn’t do anything wrong and you're acting like you hate me.”
His face softened immediately, and he stepped forward. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I’m so sorry. I don’t hate you, I could never. I just-” He scrubbed his face with his hands. “I’m having a terrible time with work. I can’t do anything right, nothing is working, and all these articles-”
“The articles came out weeks ago, Harry. It’s not that big of a deal anymore.”
“No,” he shook his head. “There’s more. A lot more, and they’re worse than before.”
“Oh,” you said quietly. “I didn’t know that.”
“I know,” he replied. “I should have told you earlier, I just- I don’t know. I don’t want you to have to deal with this.”
“Well, keeping it a secret from me and then yelling at me isn’t going to help anything,” you said, arms still crossed. “I know you’ve been having a hard time lately, Sarah told me. You can talk to me, you know. You don’t have to just keep everything in.”
“I didn’t want to put this on you,” he admitted, looking down.
“I want to know,” you told him. “I want to know when things are upsetting you or you’re having a hard time at work. You can tell me those things.”
He nodded. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I shouldn't have raised my voice. Please forgive me?”
“Of course I forgive you,” you said, moving around the table and closer to him. He looked up, opening his arms and smiling as you stepped into them.
“It will get better soon,” he promised. “It won't be this hard for long."
-----
Despite his hopeful words, your situation didn’t get any easier. More articles came out, most of them attacking Harry for his past relationships and wondering how long this one would last. His writers’ block showed no signs of easing up, and he was getting more frustrated with every day that passed.
On top of all this, you had started missing deadlines for work. The difference in time zones made it more difficult than you had anticipated, and your boss was not happy. You’d already had to sit through three Zoom meetings this week, with her lecturing you on “the importance of timeliness and responsibility.”
You were not in the right state of mind to deal with Harry’s moodiness, and the atmosphere between you was painfully tense.
That is, until it all boiled over one day.
Harry came home angry, again. He slammed the door shut and basically stomped to the kitchen. Your day had already been stressful enough, and you weren’t about to let him take out his frustration on you.
“Don’t even start with me today, Harry,” you shook your head.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked, immediately getting defensive.
“I know you probably had a terrible day, but so did I. I’m sick of us fighting.”
“You think I want to fight? I’m so sorry for being stressed,” His voice was heavy with sarcasm.
“And I’m not? It’s not like you’re the only one in the world having a hard time, Harry!”
“What do you have to be stressed about? I’m the one who can’t get any work done, and I’m the one getting ripped apart by the media,” he huffed.
“Excuse me? Have you been on ANY social media lately? Are you the one getting called ugly for not wearing enough makeup? Or accused of being “Harry's newest slut”? Because that’s that they’re saying about me!”
“And how do you think that looks for my reputation?”
“Oh, so now it’s my fault that people are attacking you?”
“No,” he sighed, dropping his face into his hands. “I don’t want to fight about this. I’m just really stressed right now, and-”
“Again, Harry, so am I! I changed my entire world to come and be with you, and it’s like you don’t even care, or appreciate all the sacrifices I made!”
“What sacrifices? You don’t-”
“You did not just say that,” you breathed. “Are you kidding me? I gave up everything! I left all my family and friends. I can’t go out in public without people taking pictures of me, and posting them, and saying terrible things about me. I’m trying to figure out my new work situation, and my boss is pissed at me all the time. I’m probably going to get fired if I don’t figure something out. I-”
“You act like you’re the only one with work troubles!” he exclaimed. “My entire career is on the line if I don’t start writing again soon. And all this shit in the press- it’s not exactly motivating.”
“It’s affecting my job too. Do you think my company wants to be involved with all the drama about us? It doesn’t look good for them. All the more reason for them to fire me.”
“But it’s worse for me!” he raised his voice to match yours.
“Why is it worse for you, Harry?”
“Because-” He stopped himself, seemingly knowing he had gone too far.
“No, say it. Say why it matters more to you. Because everything about you is more important, isn’t it?”
“That’s not what I meant-”
“But it’s exactly what you meant! You care more about your career than you do about me.”
“That’s not true,” he said, an intense look in his eyes. “You know that’s not true.”
“Really? That’s not how you’ve been acting lately.”
“It’s not like that-'' he exhaled a frustrated sigh. “I’m just saying, all this bad press is really getting to me. I’m going to lose support, and it’s going to be hard for me to get it back.”
“Oh please, you’re Harry Styles,” you spat. “You’re the golden boy of the music industry. You’ll be fine. Other people, like me, are actually in trouble here. I’m actually at risk of losing something!”
“You can just find another job!” He threw his hands up. “I’m more in the public eye, it affects me more. That’s all there is to it.”
“I can’t believe you!” you were on the verge of tears now, simply from how frustrated and angry you were. “It affects you more? You’ve been dealing with this for years. How do you think it feels for me? I’m new to all of this, and you’re acting like I should know how to handle everything.”
“You knew it was going to be like this when you first started dating me!” he argued. “I told you, and you said you didn’t care.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t think it would be this miserable!” You said, the first tear rolling down your face.
“Well if you’re so miserable, maybe you shouldn’t have agreed to move in with me.”
This stopped you in your tracks. Everything the two of you had said so far was angry, and in the heat of the moment. But this felt different. It felt like he had crafted this sentence specifically to hurt you, not to voice his feelings about the situation.
“Fine,” you stood up, grabbing your laptop and charger. You walked right past him, out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
“Where are you going?” He called.
You didn’t answer. You went into your closet, pulling out the backpack you used to use for traveling back and forth between your house and Harry’s. You began shoving clothes into it, but made sure not to include any of his shirts or hoodies.
“What are you doing?” Harry came into the room, speaking quietly.
“Packing,” you said shortly.
“Don’t do that,” he frowned. “You can’t just leave.”
“Yes I can,” you shot back, still not looking up at him. You zipped up the bag, brushing past him as you went back downstairs.
“Where-” he followed you quickly. “Where are you going?”
At this point, you realized you didn’t have anywhere to go. You didn’t have any close friends; most of your friends were also Harry’s. And you needed to be with people who didn’t remind you of him right now.
“I’m going home,” you said, finally turning to look at him.
“What?” His face fell.
“I’m leaving. I’m going back home. I can’t be here right now.”
“No- you can’t leave!” he said, his face paling. “You can go stay with Sarah and Mitch, or with Jeff and Glenne- or I’ll get you a hotel room or something, but you can’t-”
“Yes I can, Harry,” you cut him off, repeating your sentence from earlier. “I need my family. I need to see my mom. I- I have to go.” You reached for the door handle, but he stopped you, placing his large hand against the door.
“You can call them,” he said, beginning to look desperate. “Or- or we can even fly them out here. But please don’t do this.”
“You’re the one who told me to leave if I was so miserable here,” you said, trying to stop your chin from wobbling. “So that’s exactly what I’m doing.”
“I didn’t mean that! I’m so sorry, I should have never said- I don’t want you to leave. That got way out of hand, I went too far, I’m so sorry.”
“It did. And I can’t be here right now. So let me-” you tried the door again, but he kept it firmly shut.
“Please don't do this,” he whispered. “Please just… stay here tonight. I’ll sleep in the guest room, I won’t bother you if that’s what you need. Or if you really can’t be here, go stay with-”
“No,” you said decisively. “I need to go home. You’re making me feel worse by forcing me to stay here, can’t you see that?”
He dropped his hand away from the door, pressing his lips together. He gave a short nod. “If you have to-” his voice broke, and he quickly cleared his throat before speaking again. “If you really have to leave, then I’ll drive you to the airport. It’s not safe to be out alone this late.”
You shook your head. “I can get a cab, I’m not going to make you-”
“Either I drive you, or you’re not going,” he said firmly. “I need you to be safe.”
You sighed, but nodded, knowing he wouldn’t give in. He was just as stubborn as you were.
-----
You were both silent for the entire drive. Harry didn’t even try to argue with you, which you were grateful for. He seemed to understand that this was what you needed, and he couldn't change your mind.
-----
“Please don’t do this,” he said one final time, watching you walk toward the gate. His heart broke a little more with each step you took.
Even though you wanted to, you didn’t look back. You knew that one look at his sad face would be enough to break you, and you couldn’t let that happen. You needed to go home. You needed your family.
Harry stood at the large window, watching with crossed arms as the plane took off. Once you were officially gone, the first tear slipped down his face.
He made his way out of the busy airport in a daze. He barely registered that he had made it back to his car until he was sitting in the driver’s seat. He reached for the keys, but his hands were shaking so much he couldn’t manage to start the vehicle. Instead, he dropped his head to rest against the steering wheel, and he cried. He couldn’t remember the last time he cried this hard. He felt like he couldn’t breathe; there was a huge weight on his chest.
Had he just lost the love of his life?
-----
He didn’t know how long he sat there, but eventually he realized he needed to get home. He needed to figure out what to do.
As soon as he pulled in the driveway, he pulled out his phone and called Mitch.
“Hello?” Came his friend’s tired voice. It was the middle of the night, after all.
“I need you to come over right now,” Harry rushed. “I fucked up, I fucked up so bad and I don’t know- what am i supposed to do? I can’t do this- I need her!”
“Wait, slow down,” Mitch instructed. “What happened?”
“I- just come over right now,” Harry said, hanging up the phone.
-----
When Mitch arrived, he immediately knew something was very wrong. He had never seen Harry look so torn up. His eyes were red, and he was pacing back and forth while running his hands through his hair.
“What happened?” He asked again. “Where’s Y/N?”
“She’s gone,” Harry said. “She fucking left. She went back home.”
“Is she ok? Did something happen with her family?”
“No, Mitch,” Harry said, scrubbing his hands over his face. “She left because of me. We had a fight- a really bad one. I said some really shitty things, and it got way out of hand, and now she’s gone. I don’t- what am I supposed to do?”
“What did you say? Was it about the articles that came out?”
“Somewhat,” Harry nodded. “She said it was starting to affect her job, and I said it was affecting mine too, and she said she was miserable, and I… told her if she was so miserable she shouldn’t have agreed to move in with me in the first place,” he looked down in shame. He felt terrible as soon as the words left his mouth the first time, but going over the fight with someone else felt ten times worse.
Mitch took a deep breath. “Yeah, that’s... pretty bad.”
“Yeah, no shit it’s pretty bad!” Harry snapped. “Sorry, I’m sorry,” he groaned, falling back on the couch. “I just- what do I do?” He leaned his elbows on his knees, cradling his head in his hands.
“I don’t know,” Mitch admitted. “Did she say when she’s coming back?”
“No,” Harry said miserably. “She just said she needed to go home. I tried to get her to stay, I really did. I said I could get her a hotel room, or ask if she could stay with Jeff or something, but she said she needed her family. The worst thing is… she said she needs to go home. I thought she saw this as her home now. I thought she wanted to be here. I thought she was happy here,” his voice broke, and he dropped his head again. “I don’t… I don't think she loves me anymore.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Mitch shook his head. “Of course she loves you. Do you know how many fights Sarah and I have had? You just have to give her time.”
“Yeah, but did Sarah ever leave the country after you fought?”
“...No,” Mitch sighed. “No, it never got that bad.”
“Exactly,” Harry said, another tear falling down his face.
“She will come back, Harry. She loves you way too much to stay away for good.”
“Not this time,” Harry shook his head. “I think it’s different this time. I honestly don’t know if she’s coming back. I don’t know how to fix this.”
“Well, you have to apologize,” Mitch said. “As soon as her plane lands, call her. Tell her what you told me. Tell her how sorry you are and that it got out of hand and you didn’t mean anything you said.” He paused before speaking again. “You didn’t mean it, did you?”
“Of course I didn’t,” Harry snapped again. “I was just… I’ve been in such a terrible mood, and I took it out on her.” He shook his head, whispering, “I’m so stupid.”
“I’m sure it will work out if you just-” Mitch was interrupted by his phone ringing. “Yeah, he’s alright,” he said into the phone. “I’ll explain when I get home." He paused before sighing. "Again? Ok, I’ll be there in a few,” he said before hanging up. “I’m really sorry, I have to go. The baby’s sick and apparently threw up all over her crib. I have to go help Sarah clean up. Just… tell Y/N the truth, okay? Make sure she knows how much you love her.”
Harry nodded, still looking awful as he raised his head. “Thank you.”
“Of course. Let me know if you need anything else, okay?”
-----
Harry started calling you as soon as Mitch left. He knew you were still on the plane, but he wanted you to hear his apologies as soon as you landed.
“Hi love… I’m so sorry. I don’t even know how to explain how terrible I feel. I didn’t mean anything I said. I was completely out of line, and I shouldn’t have let it go that far. I love you so much and I never wanted to hurt you. Please call me when you get this.”
Then he sent a quick text.
Harry: Let me know when you get to your parents’ house so I know you’re safe. Love you.
After that, he knew there wasn’t much else he could do. He wandered back up to his bedroom, looking at all the pictures the two of you had hung on the walls together. He thought back to the day you had moved in, and how happy you had both been. He remembered when he tried to put a nail in the wall, but swung the hammer at the wrong angle and put a hole in the wall instead. He remembered how shocked you had looked, covering your mouth for a second before you both burst out into laughter.
He remembered sitting on the living room floor and eating Chinese food while you played scrabble. Sure, you had ended up dropping lo mein all over the board, but it was worth it.
There were still traces of you all over the house. Your coffee cup still sat in the sink from this morning. Two of the cabinets were still open, because you always forgot to close them. There was a purple scrunchie on your bedside table, and a blue one on the bathroom vanity, and a white one hooked over one of the kitchen cabinet knobs, because “I never know when I’ll need to put my hair up!”
He couldn’t look anywhere in the house without thinking of you. He didn’t want to be in this big empty space all alone. The only way he could think of to make all the painful memories stop was to go to sleep. So, he did just that. He pulled your pillow against his chest, cuddling it like it was you in his arms. There was the faint smell of your conditioner stuck to the fabric, and he buried his face in it to just breathe you in.
The next two days were the worst Harry had ever been through. He didn’t know what to do with himself. You weren’t answering any of his calls, and your voicemail inbox was full. He kept texting, but you weren’t even reading any of them. He paced all day, trying to occupy himself. If he didn’t think of something to keep him busy, he would just keep texting, and he was sure you were pretty annoyed at this point.
But he couldn’t help himself, so he quickly unlocked his phone and started typing.
Harry: I’m so sorry, I can’t even put it into words. Please just let me know when you’re coming home?
He scrolled up through his previous messages, sighing when he realized how pathetic they sounded.
Harry: Please stop ignoring me, I need to talk to you.
Harry: I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I love you so much, please come home.
Harry: I sound like a broken record, I know, but I just need you to know I feel awful for everything I said.
Harry: I don’t even care how pathetic I sound with all of this, I can’t lose you.
He decided he couldn’t wait anymore. He didn’t even care if you weren’t ready to come back to London yet, but he needed to see you. He stood up from the couch and marched to the front door. He was going to get the next flight out to you.
He whipped the door open, ready to run to his car- and stopped abruptly in his tracks when he was met with your apprehensive face, one hand raised as if you were about to knock.
His eyes went wide, and he froze. He didn’t say anything, and you could hear him breathing heavily. His gaze flickered all around your face, almost as if he couldn’t believe you were really here in front of him.
“Hi,” you said hesitantly, lowering your hand. You opened your mouth to speak again, but he pulled you inside and against him before you could say anything. He held you tightly, arms wrapped against you as if you were going to disappear right before his eyes.
You reached up, putting your arms around his neck as he rocked you gently. His face was buried in your neck, and you could feel his chest shaking.
You just stood there with him, letting him hold you until you could feel his breathing evening out again. After what seemed like hours, he pulled away to look at you. He put his hands on the sides of your face, his eyes flicking between yours desperately as if he still didn’t believe this was real.
“Are you- are you home? Are you staying?” He whispered. His eyes were bloodshot and he looked like he hadn’t slept since you left. The sight was enough to make guilt stab through your chest.
“I’m staying,” you nodded. “I’m not going anywhere.”
He exhaled shakily, pulling you against his chest again. Your head was turned so you could hear his heartbeat, and it still seemed dangerously fast.
“I’m so sorry,” you murmured. “I should never have left.”
“It's ok,” he shook his head. “You’re here now.”
“It’s not ok,” you lifted your head to look at him. “I was angry. But I never should have let you think I was leaving you. That was unfair of me. I said awful things to you too, and I didn’t even say I love you before I left.” Your eyes were watering again, but you blinked back the tears.
“I didn’t… I didn't know if you were going to come back,” he admitted, voice thick with emotion. “I thought I lost you for good.”
You shook your head. “Of course not. I’m here, I promise, and I'm never going to do that again.”
“Good,” he laughed shakily, bringing up a hand to run through his hair. “I was terrified.”
“I know,” you said sadly. “And I feel like such an ass, coming back and just letting you welcome me with open arms. You should probably be really angry with me-”
“I’m not angry,” he quickly shut you down. “I was scared. I was so, so scared. I was about to get on a plane and fly out to you. And of course I’m welcoming you with open arms, I love you. You can always come back to me.”
You nodded, this time letting a tear slip down your face. “I love you too.”
He smiled, wiping the tear with his thumb. “What made you decide to come home?”
“I got there and I expected to feel better. I drove all around town, going past all the spots I used to love. It made me… nostalgic, I guess, but it didn’t comfort me like I expected it to. I went to my parent’s house, and they were great, but all I could think about was the times you’ve visited there with me. I went up to my room, and all I could think about was the time we stayed in there and my bed was way too small so I was basically sleeping on top of you. And how we couldn’t get to sleep because we kept laughing, because your hair was tickling me or I would hit you with my knee. Everything I did made me think of you. And I realized- that town isn’t my home, and neither is that house. This is my home. You are my home.”
His eyes were shining just like yours, and you both reached up to wipe the other’s tears away.
“You’re my home too. And if you want to move closer to your family, we can do that. I don’t care where we live. We can go anywhere in the world, as long as I’m with you.”

ATSUMU MIYA
♡ he’s never really been an overly religious guy
♡ yet everyday, he finds himself praying that you’ll come back
♡ and before now, he considered himself a rather patient person, but every second you were gone was filled with anguish
♡ mostly because he knew it was all his fault
♡ nobody blamed it on him though, which only made him feel more guilty
♡ it was late, so he decided to walk you home from his house. hardly with your safety in mind though, just because he wanted to spend more time with you
♡ that was his first mistake
♡ his second was getting so defensive over his volleyball team
♡ he was talking about their recent loss to karasuno high, and how they were all devastated since they had been training for ages
♡ yet instead of comforting him, you simply replied, “maybe you should do things besides volleyball, if you’re getting so worked up about it.”
♡ but all he heard was you being condescending (though that genuinely wasn’t your intention) and telling him to give up something he is passionate about because of one little defeat
♡ you tried to explain that you honestly meant no harm by your statement but atsumu argued that the damage had already been done, hence your apology meant nothing to him
♡ realising that atsumu was just being pissy and taking his frustration at the game out on you, you distanced yourself; walking a few paces in front of him and plugging in your earbuds to tune him out
♡ after marching behind you for a few more yards, atsumu eventually decided that he was finished
♡ in one swift motion, he turned on his heels and stomped back his house, leaving you to walk the rest of the distance yourself; that was his third mistake
♡ however, after walking for about half a mile, he got a newsfeed notification on his phone titled, ‘four people reported missing in hyōgo prefecture, in the last week.’
♡ it only took one headline for all atsumu’s previous emotions to be swept away and replaced with one that left him motionless; guilt
♡ he continued walking back to his home, reasoning that you clearing didn’t want him near you anyone could tell by the way you walked in front of him and ignored him— so he must’ve made the right choice to leave you, since it’s what you wanted, after all
♡ and it’s not like y’all broke up or anything, he still loves you and hopes you are safe and to prove that, he apologised and texted you first
♡ ‘hey, i’m so sorry i was i bit of a jerk earlier.’
♡ followed by ‘text me once you’re home.’
♡ no response, simply read at 21:45
♡ that was a week ago, yet he still wholehearted believed that you were going to come back
♡ though, deep down he knew he was just feeding himself the same line over and over again, just so that he wouldn’t feel guilty, and so that the sight of a volleyball stopped making him feel so sick and distressed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OSAMU MIYA
♡ he’s never felt such a sea of emotions at once before
♡ on one hand, he was just happy to see you alive and well; isn’t that all a lover should want?
♡ however, he didn’t have the honour of calling himself your lover anymore
♡ you didn’t remember anything from before the crash, which initially brought him a small tinge of relief, since you wouldn’t blame him for what happened
♡ however, you didn’t remember him at all
♡ so when he knelt by your bed and started apologising profusely, all you did which raise a brow and turn to the nurse, quietly — yet not discreetly — asking who the guy by your bed was
♡ he felt his hear tear apart at such a simple inquiry
♡ however, instead of explaining himself, he got up and left, “nobody.”
♡ wanting to get it all off of his chest, he told atsumu about what happened, as if he didn’t know that his brother had the biggest crush on you during your whole relationship with osamu
♡ and of course, upon hearing the news, atsumu ‘snuck out’ later to go visit you in hospital and presumably try to win your heart
♡ though, there was nothing ‘sneaky’ about the way he loudly fumbled around with the car keys, or the way he tended to slam the door behind him — atsumu knew exactly what his brother was trying to do and although it pained him to even think of losing you, he let his brother pursue you anyway
♡ he tried to protect you once and it resulted in you losing your memory, so god knows what would happen if he tried again
♡ plus, you were no longer his to protect, or at least that is what he tried to convince himself
♡ after months of daily visits from atsumu —and none from osamu — you were somewhat starting to gain your memory back
♡ atsumu just seemed so.. familiar, and that was the single best feeling when you are so isolated
♡ though, there was something off about him that you couldn’t exactly put your finger on, but he reassured you that it was because ‘seeing you hurt changed him as a man’ so of course he’s different from the way you ‘remember’ him
♡ years passed, and you continued dating atsumu in blissful ignorance of the events that happened before the accident
♡ you feel deeper in love with the atsumu you thought you knew and were forced away from osamu (who chose to remain single, he claimed it was to focus on his studies but he truly couldn’t find a second soulmate)
♡ it was only at your own wedding day were you finally able to see osamu once more, though you didn’t really interact with him much..
♡ until he objected during your vows, then, it was pretty hard to ignore him, especially since he appeared sober yet was claiming that you are his one true love, and he regrets ever leaving you
♡ needless to say, the rest of the wedding definitely did not go as planned
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KIYOOMI SAKUSA
♡ he loved you; and he wished he had showed it more, now that it’s too late
♡ “sakusa,” you cooed, resting your head on his shoulder and offering him a plate of apple slices you cut yourself, while browsing the shows on TV, “what shall we watch tonight?” you inquired, but mostly to yourself since dating sakusa nowadays was similar to dating a literal rock
♡ no response, as per usual
♡ well, on the bright-side, that just meant you’d get to watch whatever you wanted, unless sakusa spoke up, which he most likely would not
♡ scanning through all your options, you decided to select some teen romance, coming-of-age movie that you knew sakusa would most definitely not enjoy, hence forcing him to say thing
♡ however, instead of him reacting in accordance to your plan, he simply got up and left without another word
♡ something about the sight of him with his back turned to you, headed out of your house and back home with even a goodbye cleared your fogged mind and left one fact undoubtedly clear; you didn’t want to be with him anymore
♡ and although you didn’t want to make assumptions, you surmised that he felt the same way; it was almost a certainty considering how distant he acted
♡ so of course you cut it off that same night; yet when you proposed the idea of breaking up, sakusa became surprisingly defensive
♡ it was as if all of a sudden he realised how shitty he had been acting this whole time, and how his actions had effected you
♡ you both yelled over the phone for hours, though it was hardly an ‘argument’, more like sakusa apologising profusely and making — what you believed to be — false promises, while you explained that you had just had enough
♡ it ended with him almost screaming ‘i love you’, but you hung up on him too soon
♡ he would never admit it, but he cried himself to sleep that night
♡ there was a part of him saying that he was just being overdramatic and you were nothing more than another lover that will enter and exit his life with the wind, but four years later, he still found himself getting butterflies upon catching a glimpse of you in the stands at one of games
♡ despite the fact you were cheering for opposite team
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KEIJI AKAASHI
♡ you two were the perfect couple
♡ study dates, sliding notes to each other during class, midnight strolls, endless support, dancing in the rain; it was like you were both living in your very own slice-of-life romance movie
♡ however, as they say, all good things must come to an end
♡ but for akaashi, that ending came too quickly
♡ “you can do it, i know you can!” that must’ve been the tenth time you’ve said that today, it was like your own inspirational mantra, yet akaashi didn’t seem to be endeared by it
♡ “no, (y/n).” he repeated with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose as he began to guide you to the door, “it’s a silly dream. i probably shouldn’t have even mentioned it.”
♡ “it’s not silly!” you argued, throwing on your jacket as he made it increasingly clear that he didn’t want to continue this conversation, “it’s your dream! you can’t just keep complaining about school if you aren’t even going to try to pursue your passion.”
♡ akaashi silently shook his head, “go.” it was harsh, but he could only deal with speaking about his work life for so long
♡ “you go.” you snapped, though knowing it wasn’t exactly the comeback of the century, but it summarised your feelings well enough, “i’ve honestly had enough of you. i hope--”
♡ you cut yourself off at that; storming off before saying something you might regret
♡ though furious, you really didn’t want things to end with him, you just hoped that maybe one day you’ll be able to have a civil conversation with him about what he wants to do in life
♡ because he hides it well, but the more you got to know him, the more you noticed that he truly wasn’t happy in his studies, and you just wished he would do something about it or at the very least, let you help
♡ and he knew this too; he knew it all too well yet still couldn’t bring himself to better his life, even once you were gone
♡ you were critically injured after the accident, and during your time in the hospital, you let akaashi see you once
♡ one visit was his chance to redeem himself, to apologise and help you both align your futures together
♡ but all he could do was sit with you in radio silence
♡ thirty minutes passed and his mind was running on overdrive, yet he couldn’t think of anything to utter after ‘hello.’
♡ so he left
♡ no apology, no redemption, to attempt, nothing.
♡ all he could say was that he left with a heavy heart, a heart filled with hope that one day he could return to you despite all the wrong he has done; though that seemed more unrealistic than his dream of playing profession volleyball
♡ he had truly lost his soulmate

Day 67: Soulmate (Take 1)
Harry had really great plans for the day that Ginny Weasley turned 18.
He was in the kitchen at Grimmauld making breakfast when she came bounding in through the front door and down into the kitchen.
"Hap-" he started before she had jumped into his arms and kissed him.
With a happy sigh he wrapped one arm around her waist and the other through her long hair and kissed her back.
"Happy Birthday," he finished but she wasn't paying any attention. She had pulled back and was looking at her arms and hands.
"Where is it?" she muttered.
"Sorry?" Harry asked.
She tugged her shirt off over her head to look at her torso.
"Gin, maybe not in the kitchen," Harry started to say, "Ron and Hermione will be down for breakfast any-"
"Do you see it?" she asked quizzically, turning to show Harry her back.
"See what?" he asked.
She shook her head, "My soulmark."
"What?" Harry said, even as Hermione came into the kitchen.
"Hermione," Ginny called, "do you see my soulmark?"
Hermione came over and looked at her back and hummed, "No, sweetie."
"Are you sure?" Ginny whispered, still scouring her front. Ginny looked over at Harry, her eyes desperate, "Did one show up for you?"
(Read more below the cut)
"One what?" Harry asked. "Can someone tell me what is going on?"
"I was so sure," she whispered before she burst into tears.
"Ginny!" Harry said, feeling alarmed and completely lost, he pulled her into his arms and held her close, "Tell me what's wrong," he begged but Ginny didn't say anything at all.
He looked over her head at Hermione, silently entreating her to help him, but she just shook her head.
Finally Ginny seemed to compose herself. She took a few deep breaths and pulled back. "Right," she said, wiping her tears. "I'm going to go. It's probably best if we don't see each other for a while."
"What?" Harry asked, his head spinning, he was dreaming. He had to be.
She leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek, "I'll always love you, Harry," she whispered before turning and fleeing from the room.
Harry stood there, completely dumbfounded until the smoke alarm started going off and he looked over to see that the bacon he'd been working on before Ginny arrived was nothing but charred stubs.
He vanished the bacon and set the pan off of the burner before turning to look at Hermione who was watching him with pity in her eyes. "What the hell just happened?" he asked.
-------
So, soulmates were a thing. Apparently.
And Harry couldn't help but wonder why no one had ever told him that once you and your soul mate were both 18 a soul mark would appear on your skin after you kissed, signalling that you'd found the person you were supposed to spend forever with. What was even the point of Hogwarts if they didn't teach you about basic things like soulmates? And honestly, why hadn't Ron and Hermione said anything at the very least?
It took Ginny less than three months to figure out that Blaise Zabini was her soulmate. He tried not to resent her for it, he wanted her to be happy, of course he did, but Harry was still painfully single and had no real interest in trying to date. People never saw him as just Harry, dating would be a complete nightmare.
She'd asked him to be one of her groomsmen for her wedding about six months after they'd broken up and he'd said yes, what choice did he have?
It was a terrible decision, really, even if you were only considering the fact that they'd been dating mere months ago but there was also the unfortunate fact that Draco Malfoy was one of Blaise's groomsmen so he had to see him all of the time.
They didn't fight constantly, like Harry had suspected they might when he'd heard that Malfoy was going to be part of Blaise's party but there was always this weird sort of tension between them.
He couldn't seem to stop watching him, or thinking about him, and so he did the only thing that made sense to him. He decided to become his friend.
"Hey," he said, plopping down next to Malfoy at a planning brunch when the wedding was about six weeks out.
Malfoy looked around before looking back at Harry, "Are you talking to me?"
"Yeah," Harry said, popping a grape into his mouth.
His cheeks turned a delightful shade of pink before he said, "Ahm, hello, then."
"How are you?" Harry asked.
Malfoy looked at him, "I'm fine. Are you concussed?"
Harry laughed, he couldn't help it, "No."
"Under a spell of some sort? Potion, perhaps?"
"No," he said, "Don't be ridiculous."
"Of the two of us, I am not the one behaving abnormally."
He sighed, "Look, I just," he trailed off not sure where that sentence was going, "I want to get to know you. It's weird and whatever but I'm just really curious about you, all the time."
"Ah, sixth year all over again," Malfoy said, taking a drink of his mimosa.
"No, nothing like that. I don't think you're up to anything sinister," Harry defended. "I'm just curious." Then he raised an eyebrow, "Admit it, you're curious about me, too."
"I'm no such thing."
"Come on," he said, nudging the other man with his elbow. "I've caught you looking at me almost as many times as you've caught me looking at you."
Malfoy huffed but the corner of his mouth tipped up, "Alright, fine. I'm a little curious. But don't let it go to your head."
"I wouldn't dream of it."
---------
After two weeks of being friends with Draco Malfoy, Harry basically wanted to spend every waking moment with him. Draco was dramatic and snarky, he had sharp sense of humor that often left Harry in stitches.
"So I told him," Draco said, recounting a tale from going shopping for dress robes for the wedding, "that white was for the bride."
Harry giggled, sipping his pint, "And?"
"He told me that Ginerva informed him that she'd be wearing a green dress."
He nodded, "We picked it the other day."
"And when I asked him why, he said it was because she wasn't a virgin but he is."
"Wait, really?" Harry asked, brow furrowing.
"You didn't know that Ginerva wasn't a virgin?"
His skin heated, "Err," he said, rubbing the back of his neck, "not that. I knew that because that was..." he trailed off, clearing his throat, "My fault, actually."
Draco looked scandalized.
"Oh, don't give me that!" he said, shoving the other man's shoulder. "Everyone was a mess after the war. I was just surprised that Blaise isn't."
Draco flushed, "It's actually fairly common among pureblood circles to wait for marriage."
"Wait," Harry said, "Are you-" he started, then stopped himself, "Sorry, you don't have to answer that."
Draco straightened his shoulders, "So what if I am?" he asked defensively. "There's nothing wrong with that."
"No," Harry agreed hastily, "Nothing at all. Sorry. Just that infernal curiosity."
"Maybe it would have been different," Draco said softly, like a confession, "After the war. If there was someone that I'd been in love with, like you and Ginerva were."
He took another sip of his drink before replying, "Well, like I was, anyway."
"What do you mean?"
He shook his head, "Nothing, I'm happy for her. Just," he trailed off, "It's going to sound awful."
"It's just me," Draco said softly.
Harry gave him a little smile, "There's no 'just you' about you."
He huffed, clearly not taking it the way Harry had meant it.
"She just moved on really fast, you know?" He shook his head, "One minute I think we're happy and in love, the next she's telling me that I'm not her soulmate and breaking it off without even a conversation."
"What kind of conversation were you hoping to have?" Draco asked curiously.
"Like if this soulmate lark was really that big of a deal. I mean isn't it possible that I could have made her just as happy?" he asked.
"It's not just about being happy," he said.
He sighed, "Fine, but couldn't I have loved her just as well?"
"Maybe," Draco said, "but soulmates are more than that. They're the one perfect compliment for your soul. Soulmates match in every conceivable way; it's not that they'll never fight or that everything is perfect, it's like," he trailed off, like he was trying to put something difficult into words. "When you can see the water and the sky meeting, like when they blend together so that you can't quite tell which is which and that's okay because they're made of the same thing."
"Do you know who your soulmate is?" Harry asked.
Draco shook his head and took a sip of his drink, "I'm not sure people like me get to have one."
"People like you?" Harry asked.
He raised his left arm, "I already have a mark, maybe one is all I get."
"In that case," Harry said, tapping his scar, "Maybe one is all I get, too."
"It's not the same."
He shrugged a shoulder, "you didn't want yours anymore than I wanted mine." Draco was quiet for a minute so Harry bumped him with his shoulder, "If it does turn out to be the case, I'll grow old with you if you'll have me."
----------
In the last month leading up to the wedding, Harry and Draco were pretty much inseparable to the point where people started to ask if they were dating.
They weren't, of course, but it put the thought in Harry's head and he found that he couldn't stop thinking about it.
He watched Draco throughout the wedding, the way his eyes misted over as they were saying their vows, his huge genuine smile when they were officially wed, the wistfulness on his face when toasts were being made. Harry's heart felt like it was somersaulting in his chest.
After Blaise and Ginny had their first dance, people were invited to join them on the dance floor and Harry couldn't take his eyes off of the other man. "Draco?" he said and he genuinely couldn't remember ever being this nervous.
"Hmm?" the other man replied, watching with a little smile as Blaise spun Ginny.
"Will you dance with me?"
Draco's head whipped around to look at him so fast that Harry was worried about his neck. "What?"
He swallowed, "Would you dance with me?"
"Why would you ask me that?" Draco asked. "Are you making fun of me?"
"What? No!"
"Oh, look at pathetic Draco Malfoy, everyone!" he hissed. "No one will ever love him, but I'm Harry Potter and I take pity on all sorts of sad, pathetic creatures." Draco stood up and glared at Harry, "No, thanks. I'm not in need of rescuing today."
He stormed out and after a pause where Harry tried to figure out what had just happened, Harry chased after him.
Draco was making his way down the walkway, "Bloody stupid Manors with stupid anti-apparation wards."
"Draco!" Harry shouted.
"Stop!" Draco begged, turning to look at him. "Please. I know you're trying to be kind but it's tearing me to pieces."
Harry froze in place and held out his hands like he was trying to sooth a startled creature, "Listen to me. Please," he added. Draco didn't reply but he didn't move away either. "I'm not trying to be kind or take pity on you, or whatever," he said. "I genuinely wanted to dance with you."
"Pfft," Draco huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. "Why?"
"Because I like you," Harry confessed. "I thought that would have been obvious by now."
"You like me," Draco repeated incredulously like it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard.
"Why do you find that so hard to believe?"
There was a pause as he seemed to be gathering his thoughts before he exploded, "Because you are Harry Potter!"
"And?" Harry asked, then he took another step toward him, "Draco, it's just me," he whispered, echoing the sentiment that Draco had said the last time they had an emotional conversation.
"There's no 'just you' about you," he murmured, shaking his head as a tear slipped down his cheek.
Harry reached out and brushed the tear away, "I really like you," he whispered.
"What if you're not my soulmate?" Draco breathed. "What if I let you dance with me, I let you kiss me but you're not the one for me? How can I-"
"It doesn't matter," Harry said fiercely. "We can just be together. Surely everyone doesn't find their soulmate."
"But won't you always wonder?"
"Won't you always wonder about us if we don't at least try?" Harry returned.
Draco bit his lip but then nodded. "Kiss me."
"What?"
"Kiss me," he repeated. "I need to know. I can't possibly let myself get any more attached to you if I can't keep you."
Harry cupped his face with both hands and kissed him softly and the moment their lips touched, it felt like something was igniting deep in his soul, his body coming alive and humming at the touch.
Draco must have felt it too as his body surged against Harry's, his hands grasping Harry's waist and pulling him in tighter against his body.
When they broke off panting, Draco rested his forehead against Harry's, "Does kissing always feel like that?"
"No," Harry whispered, brushing his nose over Draco's.
Draco's thumb rubbed over Harry's hip, "I'm afraid to open my eyes," he confessed.
"It doesn't have to matter," Harry said.
"But it matters and we both know it."
Harry groaned and pulled back, "Okay. Where would it be?"
"Could be anywhere," Draco replied, looking at his hands and arms, "But it's most commonly on your hands or..." he trailed off as he pulled up his left sleeve, "arm," he whispered. "Harry."
Harry looked over at him and saw that flowers had bloomed across his forearm where his dark mark had been.
"Your scar," Draco gasped, trailing his fingers over Harry's forehead.
"What?" Harry asked.
A tear slid down Draco's cheek, "It's my constellation," he whispered.
Harry tugged him in close and pressed a kiss to his chin. "I guess you were right," he said.
"About what?"
"I guess we do only get one."

Day 66: Bond | Day 68: Rain
Okay, so I genuinely love the soulmates trope and it was super hard to write this as a ficlet! I needed more words! Anyway, this one might get fleshed out in the future (and I have a Soulmates chapter fic that's already halfway done). I don't feel like this is my best work but I hope you guys enjoy it anyway! xo
Related note: I wrote a second ficlet for this prompt. I imagine that the people who sent me the prompt were hoping for something along these lines, but here's what I might have written if this was a generated prompt. Day 67: Soulmate (Take 2)

Quarantine Lovers | Charlie Gillespie
Requested by anon: Can we have a Charlie x reader where she is his secret quarantine partner and the cast keeps guessing who it is until Maddie names a famous writer and gets it right? Thanks!
Pairing: Charlie Gillespie x Female!Reader
Warnings: fluff
A/N: I’m not sure if this is what you wanted but i kinda like it haha
Tumblr media
Charlie has always been secretive about his private life. It’s always been his one thing he promised himself. Work life and private life needs to be separate. Especially in the industry he’s in now. You and Charlie have been together for a couple of months now and nobody knows. It all started when he’d finished filming Julie and The Phantoms and came back to Dieppe from Vancouver. He went for a hike with one of his brothers when they found you sitting on a rock, clutching your ankle.
“Hey, are you okay?” his voice made you look up. You offered him a polite smile, trying not to show your pain or the fact you were thinking ‘Holy crap, attractive”. “Yeah, just threw my ankle a little bit on the rocks over there,” you pointed to a few feet behind the boys. “Was waiting for it to blow over and I could go on, but I’ve been sat here for…” you checked your watch, “About half an hour.” You chuckled at your own pathetic behavior. “I used to be really good at these hikes, you know?” Charlie then chuckled too, mostly at how endearing you were.
“Can you stand on it a little bit if we support you?” Patrick, Charlie’s brother, asked then.
“I’m not sure…” The two guys walked up to you, each taking a hand of yours to pull you up, and then wrapping one arm around your waist. You could go like that for about a kilometer until your foot began to throb again. “Can we take a break?” you squeak. Charlie and Patrick placed you onto a tree trunk very gingerly and took a seat next to you.
“Are you from around here?” Charlie then asked.
“Yeah, I live in Moncton with my best friend,” you replied with a smile, glad he’s distracting you from the pain in your ankle.
“No way! We live in Dieppe!” The excitement on his face was the most adorable thing you’d ever seen.  Your eyes and smile widen at this, not necessarily at the fact he lives kind of close, but at the excitement on his face.
“Cool! I have family in Dieppe, so I know my way around there,” you told them. Charlie and Patrick nodded their heads at this, not entirely sure what else to say to this stranger they just picked up from a rock in the middle of nowhere.
“So, what’s your name?” Charlie then asked upon reminding himself of this fact. “Y/N Y/L/N,” you replied.
“Charlie Gillespie, and this is my brother, Patrick,” he introduced himself and his brother, who gave you a little wave. The wind suddenly picked up, and you knew exactly what that meant.
“It’s going to rain soon. We better get going.” Charlie and Patrick nodded their heads agreeingly and helped you up from the trunk.
“Get on my back,” Charlie then suggested. “It’s going to go quicker than you hopping along with us.” You hesitated for a few seconds, but then decided you agreed with him. Patrick helped you jump on Charlie’s back, and the three of you continued your walk down the trail, chatting about your lives the whole way down.
You found out Charlie was an actor and had just finished filming about a month ago, and you told him you were a screenwriter. Your most recent work was on Outer Banks and Season two of Umbrella Academy. You talked about your hopes and dreams and agreed the industry you both were in was a tough one.
From that day on, the two of you have been pretty inseparable. You became really close friends and spent a lot of time together before he finally asked you out on a first date. Then came more and more dates, and then came March 2020. Quarantine. And since Charlie had been spending most of his nights at your place since your best friend was with their parents, you both decided to quarantine together.
No one knew about your relationship. Not even his friends from the cast of Julie and The Phantoms. Only his family knew, and that’s all that mattered right now. No one knew you two were spending lockdown together at your place, and you could keep it a secret for a very long time. Charlie liked it this way, though the cast had been texting and calling non-stop because they knew he wasn’t home in Dieppe.
When September 10th hit, and he could finally show you the work he’d done on Julie and The Phantoms.
“What do you think, Baby?” he asked every five minutes when you were cuddled up on the couch watching it together.
“Stop asking me that question, Char,” you giggled and pressed a kiss to his cheek. You were fine for most of the show, chuckling at the ghost jokes or pretty much anything Reggie did, bopping your head along to the catchy songs. And then Unsaid Emily hit. “Oh, no…” you whined as the music started to play and on-screen-Charlie started to sing the sad song. The Charlie next to you chuckled, endeared by your investment in the show, and wrapped his arms tighter around you whilst kissing your head multiple times. “HOW DARE THEY END THIS LIKE THAT?!” You screamed at the very end, making Charlie love you even more. Afterwards, he listened to all of your theories and your predictions for season 2.
Thus far, quarantine is going really well at the Y/L/N-Gillespie Quarantine Residence.
The couple of weeks after the release of Julie and The Phantoms, Charlie had to do a lot of zoom calls for interviews. Sometimes even multiple a day. You made sure you were never in sight during those interviews, sometimes even leaving the house for a walk, but today, you decided to stay home and work on a script for an episode of season 2 of
Outer Banks.
You were sat on the sofa with your laptop and all your notes while Charlie was doing his interview in the bedroom. You could hear him talk to his castmates and the interviewer, and you often had to pause your writing because you wanted to hear what he was talking about.
“Where have you been spending quarantine?” the interviewer asked. Most of them said home with their families, and even Charlie said ‘home’. This answer melted your heart just a tiny bit.
“That’s a lie, Charlie,” Madison said with a giggle. “Charlie has a secret quarantine partner and doesn’t want to say who!”
“I am spending time with family, exploring Dieppe. I don’t know where you get your information from, Mads.” Though Charlie was a good actor, he couldn’t hide the fact he was lying to his own friends. Even you could hear how flustered he was.
“OK, I wanted to start with a couple of the fans’ questions that they sent in,” the interviewer continued, either ignoring the banter and the big piece of gossip they could get out of this, or not having heard it. “Someone asked who you’d love to work with on a next season.”
“Actor wise, I want to do scenes with Cheyenne Jackson,” Madison replies, “I didn’t get to do any scenes with him this season, but he’s really talented and I’d love to work with him. And I also have a writer that would be really great to work with on our show and that’s Y/N Y/L/N. She worked on Outer Banks and Umbrella Academy, and I loved the episodes she wrote.” Charlie’s face at the mention of your name is priceless. His eyes widen first before his mouth curled up into a smile, though he tried to hide it from his castmates and the interviewer.
Madison and Owen glanced into the camera knowingly but decided not to say anything and continue with the interview. It’s when that interview was done, Madi, Owen and Jeremy called Charlie in a group FaceTime.
“It’s Y/N, isn’t it?!” You heard Madison scream from Charlie’s phone as he walked into the living room where you were working. He gave you a questioning look, as if asking for permission to tell them. You simply nodded encouragingly.
“Yes, okay, fine! You figured it out!” The three on the other side of the line cheered loudly, making you chuckle slightly. “You want to meet the cast, Babe?” he asked you whilst making his way over. You patted the spot next to you for him to sit down, and he obeyed, showing you the screen of his phone.
“Hey, guys!” you greeted with a wave. A chorus of ‘hi’ and ‘hey’ meets your ears. “How’d you figure it out?” You asked them, placing your laptop on the coffee table to get more comfortable. You tucked your feet underneath you, placing your elbow on the back of the couch and gliding your fingers into Charlie’s long, lockdown-hair.
“First of all, I follow you on Instagram, Y/N, and I saw the two of you tagged the same location on the same day once, and your last pictures kind of look similar. So, I had a bit of a hunch, but I wasn’t sure, and when I mentioned you in the interview, he got all flustery and happy and I just knew!” You gave the girl an impressed nod.
“We literally just hung up on the interviewer when Madi texted us ‘IT’S Y/N!!’ in all caps,” Jeremy added with a smile. Defeated, and a little embarrassed, Charlie groaned and hid his face in the crook of your neck, seeking comfort.
“We won’t tell anyone, Char. We’re just happy for you,” says Owen with a smile, “And us, because now Madi won’t be texting us non-stop with all her theories on who your quarantine partner is.” All of you chuckled a that, except for Madison, she glared at her blonde-haired friend through the screen.
“You all wanted to know!” she snarled.
All of you chatted for a couple hours until Charlie and you got hungry and decided to prepare dinner.
“It was nice to meet you, Y/N! Hopefully we’ll see each other soon IRL!” Madison said with the biggest smile on her face.
“It was nice to meet you too, guys! Ooh, by the way! I loved the show!” you complimented.
“Of course you did,” said Owen with a suggestive wiggle of his eyebrows.
“Bye guys!” you waved at them, completely ignoring Owen’s statement. Charlie hung up the phone and put his phone on the coffee table before turning to you. “Madison would be a good detective,” you pointed out with a grin. Charlie glared at you, which just made you giggle and kiss his lips. At least now you didn’t need to keep it a secret from his friends. Almost like a weight off your shoulders.
