I'm still in my Primavera feelings era now and I'm literally crying because of the fact how hard Will tried to stay in his memory palace to be in his safe place (stream) with Abigail, but his brain kept returning to the reality where he was looking at Abigail's dead body and how she was put into a body bag.
After Hannibal told him to put his head back, close his eyes and wade into the quiet of the stream, the stream actually stopped being Will's safe place — after that scene we never see Will fishing in his mind again.
It is because in Primavera he felt as if he and Abigail were drowning in a stream of blood; he wasn't able to concentrate on staying in his mind safe, so there was no point in using stream ever again.

So Eva seems to have at least vague memories of everyone except Theron. Is Valkorion deliberately blocking those memories to keep her off balance and easier to manipulate?
EEeeeeee. I love this ask. It will be fully answered on Sunday with the finale of the fic, Letters from the Dead. But... I can give some information. I start hinting at it in today's chapter. (putting up the ''read more' for people who want to remain completely in the dark until then)
Eva has had direct memories of her crew, Darmas, her parents -- everyone who meant something to her before the freeze. I mentioned the use of the Memory Palace/Method of Ioci at the start of the fic. Basically, Eva's mind organizes things into parts of the ship; to view her mind is to see an alternative version of the Thief, one that is solely in her mind and stores her memories. For her, memories manifest as her dad's old skypirate books.
Valkorion attacks that the second he gets "onto the ship" when he dies at the Eternal Throne.
Eva's memories of certain people are so vivid because their story was "done" or at least established. Eva's parents are dead; that relationship can't be changed now. Eva's relationships with her crew, while not over and done, are firmly set; there were dynamics that everyone stuck to. In today's chapter, we have Eva's book collection in Virtue's Thief scattered all over the floor; that's how Heskal described her mind, because Valkorion had tried to tear her mind apart, including her memories. Part of the reason Eva sees them so clearly is that Valky is using them to torture her.
But he's not strong enough to destroy them or her true 'self' and sense thereof. HK-55's fate closes his book, and Eva can start to fix the mental library: by putting a book up on the shelves. And that starts to undo the disarray Valkorion has deliberately created.
Theron was the book Eva had been reading at the time -- not done, not established....and what do you do with a book you haven't finished reading when an unexpected guest shows up? You don't put it back on the case; you leave it on the table or put it somewhere where you can access it later. Eva has mentioned Theron throughout this fic, but he never gets as much elaboration as the others; you are right about that. In part, it's because Valkorion isn't using him to torture her. Why? He couldn't find him; he wasn't on the bookshelf.
But Theron's been here the whole time, and Eva has seen him; she just sort of hasn't had the time to really contemplate her romantic life while trying not to be dead, especially since... well... their last real conversation didn't go so hot. ...and maybe there is some part of her that kept him hidden away so he wouldn't be used against her. Maybe.
And that's all I can give you right now. The last two chapters shall reveal all on Sunday!

Minecraft Memorization Technique
The Method of Loci, also known as the Mind Palace Technique or the Roman Room System, is a technique for memorizing information by placing a mnemonic image for each item to be remembered at a point along an imaginary journey. In order to recall the information, one must remember the order and placement of the content they have paired with their location.
When I was in High School, I had to create a demonstration of how the Loci Method worked. I printed pictures of the words I was assigned and placed them around the room, I then had my classmates take a specific path around the room and had them try to memorize the words by remembering the location I had placed the printed images. It had worked out pretty well and I got a good grade on the assignment.
Years later I had made a routine of listening to scary story compilations while I played minecraft. I didn't realize I had used the Loci Method to remember the content of the stories until I was working on a super tall building. I would randomly remember what story I had listened to while I built specific areas. It wasn't until I started playing minecraft while binge watching tv series that I caught on to what I was doing. I believe this method can apply to other topics. If anyone wants to try it out and tell me if it works for anyone else, please feel free to share your experience :)

hi, im a teen doing igsce without any prep whatsover with 9 months left do u think that deduction wil help with my exams
Hello! and sorry for the late response, i'm glad you're interested in deduction, and while deduction is very much a skill that is useful in a plethora of situations and areas of life, when it comes to tests like igcse exams chances are it will only help you with logic based tasks and subjecs, so maybe only the more essay-like parts of the exams. And even in that case, deduction usually takes months to study to the point that you can actually use it for exams, so i wouldn't recommend relying on it at the moment. That being said tho, what i do think might help you is a Mind Palace, and i say this as someone that did a similar set of exams as the igcses, it's not particularly hard to learn and if you stick to it for a month or a few weeks you'll get the hang of it and it'll probably help you speed up your studies for your exams, if you need any information on how to make a mind palace feel free to shoot me another ask or a DM in my personal blog here! and if you wanna look up more information on your own start with looking up "the method of loci"
Best of luck with your exams!

Live in your head. Build up walls. Close up the doors and windows. Read books, swim in thoughts, and revel in imagination. There is a kingdom inside of you that's far better than the horrors of the outside world.

Remembering Where You Read It
New blog post: Remembering Where You Read It.
More than ten years ago, I read the Herman Melville novel Moby-Dick, which is a hefty 500 pages. At the time, I volunteered every week at a hospital radio station and I used the bus journey to tackle much of my reading. Over time, I began to associate the route with the narrative of the story, even though the two were very different. I recalled this recently as I read the Richard Osman novel The…
