This is the culmination of about 4 months of work on my largest diorama yet. It's set in a world of magic and danger, where human civilization has never been able to thrive. The constant threat of attack means that most of humanity lives a nomadic life, and these 5 are no exception. They're all outcasts for one reason or another, and they've all suffered loss. They stick together because it's the only way to survive.
I made this as an expression of my own emotions as I get nearer graduation and risk losing people I've come to care a lot about. The future is unknown, and the past can't drive it anymore. I just hope I can find moments of rest like these, even if there's something lurking at the top of the ridge.
Since poor Pip has been stuck in a potion portal for over a week, Nip and his friends Sip and Drip have decided to embark on a journey to find Myrtle Moss! (a remarkably powerful yet exquisitely clumsy witch doctor🤣)
Sip knew they had to find and scale the largest tree log in the forest to reach Myrtle. A small portal 🕳 at the top would take them to her magical forest! ✨
Nip bravely jumped down first and was immediately greeted by a mysterious pumpkin and lit candle. Sip and Drip joined him soon after, and they used the candlelight to guide them to Myrtle’s cottage.
Will she be clever enough to unlock the spell for them?!?

(Monster Hunter: World)
made by hand primarily from paper
(also floral wire, toothpicks, epoxy resin)
28” x 20” diameter
My largest miniature yet and certainly the most densely constructed. This piece took me 5 months, chipped through well over 1k blades, 4 pads of bristol paper, countless sheets of cardstock, 3 bottles of glue, 48 LEDs, and a liter of clear cast resin.

I kept a weekly journal documenting the process for free reads on my Patreon over here: https://www.patreon.com/collection/60826

Haven't actually made much progress on this since I last posted, however my wife @yaristari wanted to test her camera on this little guy. Here's some cool pics she got!
