Prompt Me!

Okay. So I'm really enjoying my new drabble exercises. They just make my brain move a different way and I think that's helping me in a lot of different ways. I don't know if anyone is interested in seeing more of that from me, but if you are... I'm now taking prompts for drabbles!

Remember these are drabbles... So no super long prompts that I can't fulfill in less than three hundred words (a triple drabble), please! I may, at times, choose a prompt for my Wednesday post (which tends to be between 500 and 1k words), but that is NOT going to be the norm, so please don't aim for that.

I won't be trying to post every day, given the other writing I do, but the aim is a drabble 4 days a week (probably, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with my longer fill on Wednesday.

As for prompts, I'll take most prompts for IronStrange. However, I do not do smut, so alas, no smut prompts, please.

taking prompts for Writers' Month!

All right, lovely people. I'm planning to do Writers' Month again this year (31 prompts for the 31 days of August) and I'm looking for ideas again, so if anyone fancies prompting me, please feel free! No limit on numbers of prompts, there are 31 of the buggers so knock yourselves out!

I need a little bit of background to the prompts as I am particularly idea-free at the moment, so if you would be so kind as to give me at least character/s and/or pairing/s, perhaps a setting or one of my 'verses, that would be enormously helpful. I am not good at coming up with AUs, so if you fancy any of the AU prompts, please especially give me a bit of background to play with! I’m happy to expand on any of the ones I’ve written for previous events including Barduil Month…

I'm hoping to incorporate the prompts I was very kindly given for Tolkien Gen Week but didn't manage to write - I am utterly exhausted at the moment but I have the last week of July and the first week of August off work so I'm hoping to rest and recuperate enough to be able to participate in this because it's one of my favourite events.

It's me, hi, I'm the one who hasn't posted/written anything in over a year xD

I've been a little busy on a side project aka building a third human being from scratch (and pushing it out lolz), and also I think I had used up all of my words and needed new ones, so I went and read all the Bridgerton books (meh) and then every book written by Rick Riordan (heck yeah), in the span of six months 🤔 now I gats lots of new words AND a little baby, which is nice :D

My third little human has now been born for a little over a month, and sleep deprived as am I, I'm still starting to feel the lovely itch to write again ❤️ I have missed this a lot and am so excited to slowly start again. I hope I manage to finish some of my projects on my AO3 :D

Kinda want to slowly get back on the saddle, and what better way to do that than to write "drabbles" (quote unquote 'cause I'm not good at keeping things super short like drabbles are supposed to be) so how about you guys send me prompts from this lovely list, and I'll try to write a little something something in between feedings/cuddles with my baby daughter and all the other things a mum of three does 😍

It can be anything Arcane, Agents of SHIELD, or Spider-Man, just make sure to specify it in your ask!

Jotun Prince Loki claims Sif as a war prize, to give him pleasure and to bear his heirs.

Sif goes undercover as a (insert alien name here) sex slave in order to find a woman who mysteriously disappeared and is believed to have been taken by the slavers. To sell the deception, Loki poses as her owner, looking to pass her on to the right buyer. (This is the place to dress Sif in the slutty, revealing costume of your choice.)

Sif wakes up bound naked and on display for interested parties to fondle at a sex slave market. She doesn't know if it's better or worse that she can see Loki across the aisle from her. He does look good chained and collared.

Hello, darlings - it is I, the Niamh behind this messy blog that once had a theme and now just amuses me and hopefully others.

What do you need to know? Well, I write (in theory), I hate my job, and I am forever on the search for that one piece of media that will hold my attention long enough to write another epic long-fic like I've done in the past. Anon, not only am I gonna answer you with a victory ficlet once I’m no longer at work, I’m also gonna write 3 fic/ficlet ideas crowdsourced from tumblr because the final spread was 3% and I promised a fic per percentage point.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

Enough random notes that have a written story on them as environmental storytelling, explore the space, get crazier with it.

You move into a house and aw cute, it has the kids height on the walls but you notice there's a three foot difference in height between measurements, you check the date, they're a month apart. The final measurement is on the ceiling. It's dated two days ago.

You're part of a recovery team that have finally found a stranded ship, they were found too late and have all passed a long time ago. They all died of starvation. You enter their storeroom, it's filled with food. In the dining hall you find the tables laden with perfectly fine looking breads, cakes, cured meats, jams, candies. Your medic says all the people sitting at the table didn't eat a Thing.

You wake up in an apocalypse. You can't find anyone at all as you wander the streets but you do hear faint music playing from somewhere. You stumble into a supermarket, to see all the aisles still full, except for the shelf that was full of ear plugs, which look to be the only thing that was looted.

Like there's light, sound, props. Having a street where every house is decimated except for One. Landing on a planet known for having No Water and a plant is growing and you don't know where it could have possibly gotten moisture from but you can't find the citizens Anywhere.

I'm sorry, I'm just kinda over the "graffiti on the wall to show the bad guy is around". That's not environmental storytelling that's just normal story. Show me I'm in the villains territory by the rain suddenly cutting out above me as I'm driving, even though it's meant to be raining all night. I park the car and step out, and realise the constellations are Wrong, until I see they're Not constellations, they're the blinking lights of a massive ship-

I Will stop now because everytime I go to write a sentence it devolves into another prompt but I'm just saying we have a Lot of senses, engage them, show me the Environment in environmental storytelling.

It's LOTR20 week!

And as has been usual this year, I am entirely idea-free! But I really want to write a few somethings for this event, because the original release of the three LotR movies genuinely changed my life for the better, they were my proper induction into fandom, and I feel like that needs commemorating, especially now I'm back 'home' in the LotR fandom again. Most of the festive events I take part in aren't running this year, so if you would like to send me a prompt/some prompts(/many prompts!), I will make the resulting fics little seasonal gifts to you!

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.

That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.

That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.

That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.

That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.

That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.

That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.

None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.

I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.

If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.

Celebrate fan work!

To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.
