a friend said they wanted me to do more puzzle recommendations.

i've been mainly looking at puzzle hunt stuff lately (still postsolving mitmh24......) and these are tough to recommend to people who don't solve hunts, so i'm lacking good recommendation material at the moment,

but i meant to mention 12 word searches at some point and never did, so i'll take the chance to recommend it now. it's brilliant and it's deeper than you think it is!

Commission | Atlas Games Cryptid Hunt Pt 8

At the beginning of last year I was contacted by a publishing company and contracted to make all the art for an upcoming puzzle book they were making. I spent 5 months working on this, and I have so many pieces it’ll be broken up into multiple parts! This was Batch D.

The piece de resistance, the big finish, the cover design!! I may be recovering from cryptid burnout after this, but I can't lie, I am in LOVE with how the cover turned out. The client wanted "mixed media" with dark and creepy vibes, and I think as a whole I have delivered on that~

I finally decided to read and try to solve Cain's Jawbone. I bought the Italian copy last year and was too intimidated to start, but than in the past few days it came up in several conversations and for some reason that motivated me enough to give it a try. I doubt I'll be able to solve it but it has potential to be a great past time, which is perfect at the moment since I am still on my months of rest and relaxation and I am still slightly sick.

I thought it might me interesting for me to write here my process of attempting to solve the book, but instead of doing entirely separated posts I will be adding a section to my daily entries. I will make sure to keep it separated from the main body of the post, that way people who want to avoid that will be able to easily (although I will try not to be too spoilery if I can).

i finally got around to buying the abdec puzzlebook by blaž urban gracar. it's nice! the mechanics are elegant and the difficulty is not too high until you reach the end when it quickly cranks all the way up (the extra extra secret stuff is still beyond me at the moment)

DOGGIE DADDY, with passion in the voice: I certainly have to concur with those who suggest that kids might actually be better enhanced with educational or learning-based toys and games, and my precious Augie would have to be no exception to that advice!

HUCKLEBERRY HOUND: After all, from contacts I've had, quite a few parents I've talked to admit that toys and games having a learning and comprehension component might actually be much better for them ... I was just thinking here, have you considered giving Augie some puzzle books, you know, crosswords, word search, sudoku, that sort of thing?

DOGGIE DADDY: Honestly, Huck, I have on a couple occasions when ever-devoted Augie was down with a virus ... at least such helped keep him amused, and the doc even acknowledged that some time with a puzzle book or two may have helped his recovery!

HUCKLEBERRY HOUND, blushing: I can't believe it, having some time with puzzle books while sick helping Augie recover all the sooner!

DOGGIE DADDY: As if ginger ale wasn't good enough as well....
