CATS Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre - Hudson, FL (with Pics)

Thanks to Suncoast Broadway Dinner Theatre for renting our set and having us for the past two weeks in the Junkyard. It's always a delight working with Chaz, and we got to know an incredible cast and crew. I'm not sure how many hashtags I can use so I am going to include the cast list here for pics that arrive since all of you are so talented at Tumblr (the cast is so intrigued by Superfans, btw!)

We had many challenges with a dinner theatre because the stage is very small in order to accommodate tables. As well, actors serve patrons so I needed to design an outfit to protect the costumes and suspend disbelief. And from patron reactions, we've been told this is one of the best openings, if not the best opening, and the best show/costume the theatre has had to date and hoped we'd be back, which was very, very kind of them.

Mungojerrie/Macavity split track, played by Andre Spathelf-Sanders and yeah, this jerk who keeps showing up. I adore the whole cast to bits truly but we're planning on cosplaying Green Lantern together and he was the first to get my "Archer" references in the make up classes. If it's ever of interest, I'm happy to sometime talk about my make up classes and what to do when there are "mistakes" with what I call the Bob Ross Method.

Demeter by Iraya Catalina is making an argument that maybe all Demeters need to be Filipino because she slays!

Jennyanydots and her incredibly supportive husband. She was one of the most delightful people to work with, hilarious, fun, loving, amazing hugs, and just a joy. I've never had a Jenny almost refuse to take the Gumbie suit off (which is a huge compliment). What a joy.

David was the make up designer for all of the designs except Bombalurina's, and I taught about 5-hours of make up classes.

The magic of an incredible LED screen came into play as there were cool effects, such as a first person POV of a cat going to the junkyard (bringing YOU into the show) and the sky changing with the hours of the day, the moon, everything. The lighting designer Dalton Hamilton was wonderful and provided the following photographs. All costumes designed/created by David and myself (The Costume Asylum/Siegert Creative):

I am going to try to get some rehearsal pics and one of the funniest bloopers ever but I hope this is a nice start. Happy Sunday, I'm happy to be home, but I miss these kitties so much already!

Apologies if I missed tagging anyone, y'all know I'm really trying with Tumblr very hard. Oh! Rhagan Carter (Rumpleteazer) is the Dance Captain! Knew I forgot something.

Also... is there a way I can add text when I add a bunch of pics at once to name the actors? I cannot for the life of me figure out how. I keep clicking in between photos and hit return and nothing!

Each passing day, I become more and more of that "how do you do fellow young people" meme, I swear.

If there's anything specific you'd like to know, feel free to ask or comments in general. Not sure how long it'll take to get back because I got 2 hours of sleep last night, flew in, and today is a "fuck it, let's order dominos" day. ... but... ordering dominos... is hard. moving is hard. falling down the stairs... easier than anticipated. 0/10 do not recommend.

Percy Jackson Fandom... on TRIAL. PRESENT YOUR EVIDENCE! GO!

Okay, HEAR ME OUT, I enter a fandom before I watch/read the source material of said fandom to figure out if I want to do so. Sure there's often spoilers, but I don't mind spoilers so... PLEASE TELL GIVE YOUR HONEST PROS/CONS DEAR FANDOMS, anything to avoid? touchy topics? any... adaptations to keep at bay with a 6ft pole??

Sorry if my phrasing is weird but I NEED to know if anyone does this too. I am presently sticking my toes in the Percy Jackson Fandom and... man why does the sun and the star, the book that looks the COOLEST, come that late?! I didn't read this series in middle school like I'm pretty sure most people did, and I'm not positive if it'd be a little bit of 'below my reading level' sort of book, so any feedback from people who started reading later would be SUPER helpful.

I need your help, I need a guide for starting this series, and I have heard of solangelo (one glance into this fandom has already made me obsessed with the sunshine x darkness stuff goin on) so no need to educate me on that (give me your ship opinions pls, I love tea), but I'm still not sure whether to give in and read it. I really like audiobooks, so do you have any particular readings of this series to recommend?

TSATS SPOILERS

Okay, so I finished the book and I have a question: where tf is Apollo?????

I get that he couldn't go on a quest with them, he said so at the end of ToN but why doesn't he appear at camp at the end of the book? Or at least visit Will in a dream? Hades did that for Nico.

Also at the beginning it's said that Rachel spoke the same prophecy like 12 times. Apollo is literally the god of prophecies, why isn't he doing anything about it? (Unless Rachel first went to him and he told her to go with this to Nico and Will and asked her not to tell them that he sent her. Idk just an idea).

Personaly I don't have a problem with Will thinking that he might not see Apollo in years or even ever again, because well, it's not presented as fact, it's what Will thinks. And it fits with his fear of abandonment that we can see later in the book. If he has moments when he thinks that his boyfried could leave him behind in the Tartarus or the Underworld then I can easily belive that he thinks that his dad wouldn't bother with visits now when he's a god again.

But that's exacly why Apollo visiting at the end, to give Will comfort after a dengerous quest, would be perfect. It would prove that Will's assumptions were wrong. (I'm just gonna pretend that this is what happened the next day 🙃)

This book has a problem with mentioning important characters in general. Like where are Jerry, Gracie and Yan, you know, Will's new siblings? What was the point of introducing them if their existence is never acknowledged? Austin and Kayla are never mention during the quest itself, they just go home and Will and Nico never think or talk about them. And Hazel, the only alive sibling Nico has, is mationed like once I think???

So it's not that Apollo is the only victim of narration here, but he it the most noticible one because 1) he was a main character in the previous books. 2) he's name is constantly mantion in reference to Will: 'son of Apollo said this' 'son of Apollo did that' and so on. And maybe it's just me, but did anyone else noticed that Will is refered like this a bit too often? Like Nico is somtimes called "Son of Hades" by narration but not near as often as Will is called his father's son, especialy in the later in the story. Like at some point I had a feeling that the book was literally screaming at me "Hey remember Will's dad? This guy named Apollo? Yeah we know he's not in this book, but don't forget about him! He's still important we swear". Anyone else noticed this? Maybe I'm just being delusional but I swear they were doing this for a reason.

I don't know what are Rick's plan for the future, maybe there will be an explanation on why Apollo was so ignored by this book. Maybe he was super busy with something, or maybe he feard that if he intervenes he would bring Zeus' attention to Will and Nico and tbh we don't know how Zeus feels about quest to Tartarus, especialy if the said quest involves saving a titan (because let's be honest, Zeus probably dosen't like the idea of bringing a titan out of Tartarus).

Or maybe Apollo's planing a revolutuon to take his tyrannical father down, who knows.

Sorry if this is a bit messy, I normally don't write analasys/observations but I wanted to get this of my chest (also English is my 2nd language so sorry for all the mistakes)

The Hidden Oracle: Chapter 10

Her face was mature but stately, the way a benevolent queen should look. So definitely not Hera, then. Way to shoot off a stray at your stepmother, Lester. Good man.

“Easy.” Someone’s hand rested on my shoulder. “Don’t try to sit up.” Naturally I tried to sit up. "I am a god, you can't tell me what to- Oh gods, I feel nauseous..."

“Meg seems cool. She’s already poked Connor Stoll in the eyes and kicked Sherman Yang in the crotch.” “She did what?” I would have paid to see that, I promise you.

It warmed my heart that my children had the right priorities: their skills, their images, their views on YouTube. Say what you will about gods being absentee parents; our children inherit many of our finest personality traits. I'm not sure if you want your kids to inherit your egotism, Apollo.

I rarely visited Camp Half-Blood in winter. The last time had been three years ago, when a girl named Thalia Grace crash-landed my bus in the canoe lake. He's definitely still shaken up from that ride, isn't he? Probably hasn't let a mortal drive since.

I wasn’t sure Rachel would want to see me. She would expect explanations from her Main Man, and while I had invented mansplaining and was its foremost practitioner, I had no answers to give her. Apollo invented mansplaining?? So he's got the Beatles fans angry because he caused the Beatles to break up, then he's ticked off the feminists by revealing he invented mansplaining... what next, are you going to declare maple syrup unholy, and set the Canadians after you as well?

“I remember you,” I said. “Is it Nicholas, son of Hades?” Actually Lester, it's Nikolaj. (Don't let TSATS make you believe it's Niccolò, from what I hear, that book is very dubiously canon at best)
