Shadow didn't know what to do.

Eclipse had been acting weird lately, ever since he had spent the entire day with Sonic and Tails. Now that Shadow was thinking about it, that was probably where it came from. Shadow just knew that Sonic had given the darkling some strange ideas.

First Eclipse had randomly said he loved him (Shadow had been so blindsided, he just stared at him awkwardly and then changed the subject after 20 seconds). And then when Shadow had gotten home today, Eclipse had jumped on him and hugged him.

For a moment, Shadow had thought it was a sneak attack. The poor kid had no idea how close he had been to getting sucker punched.

According to Rouge, it was because Eclipse 'wanted a better relationship'. But that just made Shadow all but short-circuit, because what did that even mean?!

It hadn't been like this with Maria. She had been warm and caring. Everything with her had been effortless. It hadn't been just easy but wonderful to bond with her. To soak up her love and affection like sunlight.

He still missed her a lot.

Eclipse would have adored her and she would have been loving and kind to him in return. Maybe she would have been able to get him to behave and stop screwing around all the time.

Watching from the kitchen as Eclipse talked to his wisps, Shadow wasn't sure what to do. He didn't know how to be someone older brother, he didn't even know how to make this situation less awkward.

It would have been nice, if things were better between them. If they didn't fight or argue all the time, if it didn't seem like they were walking on eggshells around each other. As weird as it seemed, whatever Sonic and Tails had going on was... something better then this.

Rouge said Eclipse wanted it to be better and he was clearly trying. Shadow realized he had to do something to help. But it was awkward and weird.

Rouge had said he needed to try in return. So that's what he was going to do. It would have been nice if he could just snapped his fingers and made it better. But life wasn't like that.

So Shadow let out a sigh, walked into the living room and sat down next to the darkling. Looked into the hope-filled eyes of his little brother and thought about what he should do next.

I love this so muchhhhhh THEY MAKE ME INSANE TOO

(Also I don't think I compliment your writing enough. ITS SO GOOD. The tiiiiny comparison of Eclipse and Maria was just so. How do I describe this with words. I can't. So I'll just say AS JKDB ASKJDAJVSJBK. Yeah that works. I think about the little sibling parallels more than I should.)
