Protection Magic: Some Important Concepts
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------
Long post based on my experience and research. Meant to be informative. I don't claim to know the absolute truth.
---------------------------------------------------
Protection magic is any type of work meant to protect A from B, and there are many ways that this can be done: prayers, charms, talismans, tokens, casting circles, setting up wards, visualization. The list can go on and on because it can be done in many different ways and combining many different methods.
But methods are not the topic of this post today. No, today I would like to talk about some key concepts to keep in mind before getting started on making protections and keeping them effective.
The Importance of Cleansing
Tumblr media
Before doing any protection work I like to do a cleansing. Imagine you have an open water bottle, and because it was open, a lot of dirt has found its way into it over time. You decide to seal the bottle so no dirt comes in, but you don't pour out the old water, so you end up sealing it in. Yes, you'll keep more dirt from coming in, but the muck is still there.
It is easier to see this being applied to a physical location, but I personally also apply this to personal protective tokens. I feel they work better when you are taking care of your energies by doing regular cleanses and managing internal negativity.
Important Definitions
Protection ≠ Banishing ≠ Cleansing
I feel a lot of people are under the impression that these are all the same. I think they all work together towards a similar goal, but their jobs are different.
Protection: protecting something from something
Banishing: driving out entities
Cleansing: clearing out energy
You can do cleansing, banishing, and protection at the same time, but that doesn't mean they are the same. You can do a ritual including all of them, but you can also just do a cleansing or just do warding (which is a form of protection).
Note: cleansing is not restricted to “negative energy”. You can cleanse any kind of energy. Exemple: a friend of yours decides tarot is not for them and hands down their deck to you. If you wanna work with that deck it is highly advisable that you do a thorough cleansing of it and then infuse it/consecrate it with the energies you want. It's not that your friend has “bad” energy, it's just that you might not want to work with the same energies they have, or use a tool that has someone else's energy in it.
Tumblr media
Not Necessarily a Lazy Job
One important thing with protection magic is that no matter how strong or how successful are at doing it is that it is not failproof. I have yet to see protection work that lasts forever, and there may be a few reasons for it.
Negativity also comes from within
Imagine you have a fish inside an open fish tank. Just like the bottle example earlier, you decide to put a lid on so you prevent leaves from falling into the tank and polluting the water. However, there's a fish, a living being in there, and it produces waste. It is impossible for the fish to live without producing waste. If you don’t regularly clean the water, ammonia and fecal matter will build up.
In this analogy, you are the fish. I am the fish. Humans literally cannot live without ever having a negative thought or feeling, it is part of our existence and we have to live with it. No one lives in constant bliss.
That doesn't mean we have to live in the muck though. That's why cleansing yourself is important.
No one is immune to the environment
Here I have another analogy for you. Imagine you're facing a harsh winter, but you are safe in the security and warmth of your house. Your house is protected from the cold so you don't even mind it. However, you have to go outside. You dress up, go out and you feel very, very cold. You could perhaps wear something warmer, but it will never feel the same as home. Yet it is better than going outside naked, no?
Same thing for energies. You can have protection, but depending on how strong the energy in the environment is you are sure to feel it to at least some degree. However it's best to have some protection than no protection at all.
And there is a difference between Feeling an energy and dwelling in it vs Feeling an energy and not letting it latch onto you.
Energy can wear off, and new energy can build up
Energy is ever changing, ever moving. If you do a strong protection spell once, it can last for a long while, but if you forget about it it will likely lose a lot of its strength over time. Some of what you put out there might wear off and be substituted by something else. The energy can also grow stale, which means it becomes less effective.
But if you do a strong spell every month you will not only make your protections stronger, but also constantly renew the energies and not let them stagnate.
So keep doing cleanses and every now and then give a boost to your protections so they are refreshed and recharged.
Note on "Negative Energy"
One of the main reasons someone might choose to do a protection ritual and a cleansing is to ward off negative energy. But is that really needed? What is "negative energy"?
Negative energy might feel like a sense of heaviness, dread, pain, sadness, feeling ill, angry, sad or anxious. Emotions produce and attract what we can call "negative energy", the same way it can make us feel those things.
And while I personally think nobody wants to feel them, we must understand they are not always bad at their core.
Tumblr media
The uncomfortable feelings they can cause may also be a gateway for healing and transformation. Pain tells us there is something that needs to be worked on, that needs change.
If you are feeling negative, ask yourself why. Why does this bother me? What makes me feel this way? What can I learn from this pain?
If you happen to feel negative energy, it is good to cleanse and protect. But I advise you to always look for the source to see what can be done about it or what you can learn from it. Don't just try to use spellcasting to run away from your shit. Own your shit. Deal with it.
Otherwise, it will keep coming back no matter how much protection you have.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
It is impossible to always be free from “negative energy” all the time, no matter how strong your protections are. But protections can absorb some of the blows that you would otherwise take and ease the ones you were going to take no matter what.
Protection magic alone will not solve all your problems. It is a great tool to help you keep your center and remain grounded, but it is not usually something you do once and forget. It is a continuous, ever evolving work, meant to be used in conjunction with other types of spellwork.
And most importantly, it can give you some comfort through the many trials of life.
Thank you for reading, and good luck on your path! ♡

CRYSTAL READING: What would bring you good luck? 🌻🌟✨️
A little explanation of the method I used for reading
Lithomancy : I assigned a meaning for each stone (each stone represents a planet) and cast them on a circle divided into 12 parts, just like an astrology chart and do the reading
Pick a stone :
Tumblr media
Reading for each group below :
1. Trolleite group
Tumblr media
There is a contrast of two sides.
blue vs. red
personal vs collective
A hidden fire underneath a calm blue surface.
Wearing or using white and blue objects during travelling, especially long journey, dealing with a large crowd or going to public institutions, religious or spiritual places, the banks etc. would help you navigate the surrounding environment more smoothly.
It could be the colour of the clothes, vehicles, bottle, backpack etc.
Bringing a book and a notebook with you while travelling is also very beneficial.
Going near a large body of water, the ocean, the seashore, fish, and shells will help calm and ground you.
But for your private home, planting lots of flowers, paint the wall in warm pale tones of pink or pale orange, yellow will bring wamrth and vitality.
For harmonious communication, you could use a pink phone or a pink phone case, a pink notebook and pen, and pink accessories.
As I have said above about a hidden fire, intimate connections would stoke a creative fire within you, bring in more inspiration and life force to your projects.
Show a more vulnerable and soft side of yourself to the world and see how that would lead you on an unexpected, lucky journey.
2. Citrine group
Tumblr media
There is a sense of an overall blessing draping your life. It's soft and jubilant.
You should surround yourself with soft, pastel colours and oceanic motifs.
Having a kaleidoscope and occasionally looking through it can unwind some restrictive thought patterns.
Travelling will bring lots of luck and valuable lessons. Schools and learning are also very important steps.
The more you study broadly but also deeply, the more depth and value you will find in life and in yourself. There is a calling from the depth of the ocean. To go deep, your life is not meant to be spent in a light, breezy, superficial way.
Have an exercise routine, not necessarily something vigorous, but just move your body around, writing or practising something with your hands daily will also assist you in this journey.
A teacher with masculine energy would also help you transform your fundamental way of thinking, building a more solid and vibrant inner core.
I also see that keeping yourself warm and monitoring what you eat closely would bring positive changes to you.
Bright red, orange, soft purple and blue, black would be your lucky colours.
3. Garnet group
Tumblr media
Some period of wandering by yourself, away from familiar faces and environment, would do wonders to you. Especially when you feel quite lost, confused, or aimless.
Allow yourself to be guided by your intuition. When the urge strikes, just pack your things and go without too many thoughts and concerns.
It would be like a spiritual cleanse.
Things that relate to cleansing would also help you. Soap, salt, something smells of lavenders, lemon, rose, and water.
After some long walks or runs, taking a shower with soap or shampoo of these scent.
Take good care of your hair. Our hair is one of the most visible signs of life growing, of progression. I would usually imagine it as inverted roots of the tree that is our body.
A healthy root system would make a healthy tree.
I'm also see that some objects with cradle-like shapes are quite beneficial for your financial and physical growth. A bowl, a basket, a candy dish, something that can hold others.
The colours to bring you luck are jade green, sky blue, lilac, and dark red.
4. Rose quartz
Tumblr media
When I saw your spread, I immediately heard the sound of wind chimes. More specifically, a brass wind chimes, the one with no frills, just simple tubes of brass swaying gently in a place with lots of dark trees. The place feels simple, quiet, serious, and solitary.
Hanging some objects like wind chimes, dream catchers, or something light, delicate by the door or windows. Or wearing earrings with that kind of shape would bring good luck to you.
Even more so if it was made by your own hands. I even saw some kind of transparent panel make of glass or acrylic with painting on it, dangling in front of the window, sunlight striking through, making rainbow dance in the room.
Light and sound would affect your energy profoundly.
When things feel unstable, difficulties arise, you could go to places that are old, with lots of history, have big, strong, square structure, or anywhere that has 4 walls surrounding you to feel more grounded.
Number 2,3,4 would show signs of blessing.
Things or beings that come in pair, in groups of three or groups of four.
Consider using things with contrast, a combination of complementary colours ,
dark and rich colours combine with light, soft colours such as green and pink, light blue and brown black, lilac with dark red, orange with cold grey.
5. Carnelian group
Tumblr media
For this group, it's not really about something physical like a place, an object that could bring you good luck. It's more about words, thoughts, and emotions.
When dealing with others, sometimes not revealing yourself entirely would actually achieve more peace and honesty in that relationship.
You have an intense inner world, you see clearly the hurts, the vulnerability, and the darkness in yourself and others. Your words would have a heavy , serious trigger. It's not easy to always bring that heaviness out into the open because it would create misunderstanding and anger in others.
So, not showing yourself too much, wait and observe, until you and the other person reach a certain understanding of each other.
An outward elusiveness and detachment sometimes would help balance out the inward gravity.
Having a psyche like that would manifest as sensitivity in the physical body such as allergies, so avoid eating too much spicy and hot food or strenuous activities so as not to aggrevate the body further.
A healthy bridge between bodily nourishment and the psyche should be established. Observe how some food would affect you.
The biggest message is to take good care of your health. No amount of blessings is enough if you are not actually healthy to receive them.
For colours, dark earthy and creamy tones would make a nice comfory blanket for you.
❤️

[ID: A purplish-grey stew topped with olive oil and garnished with piles of pomegranate seeds. Plates of green peppers, bitter olives, olive oil, taboon bread, green onions, radishes, and za'tar surround the dish. The second image is a close-up of the same stew. End ID]
رمانية / Rummāniyya (Palestinian pomegranate stew)
Rummaniyya (رُمَّانِيَّة; also transliterated "rumaniyya," "rummaniya," and "rummaniyeh") is a Palestinian stew or dip made from lentils, eggplant, and pomegranate seeds, flavored with nutty red tahina and a zesty, spicy دُقَّة (dugga) of dill seeds, garlic, and peppers. A طشة (ṭsha), or tempering, of olive oil and onion or garlic is sometimes added.
"Rummaniyya," roughly "pomegranate-y," comes from رُمَّان‎ ("rummān") "pomegranate," plus the abstract noun suffix ـِيَّة ("iyya"); the dish is also known as حبّة رُمَّانَة ("ḥabbat rommāna"), or "pomegranate seeds." It is a seasonal dish that is made at the end of summer and the beginning of fall, when pomegranates are still green, unripe, and sour.
This stew is considered to be one of the most iconic, historic, and beloved of Palestinian dishes by people from Gaza, Yaffa, and Al-Ludd. Pomegranates—their seeds, their juice, and a thick syrup made from reducing the juice down—are integral to Palestinian cuisine and heritage, and images of them abound on ceramics and textiles. Pomegranates and their juice are sold from street carts and cafes in the West Bank and Gaza.
Today, tens of thousands of tons of pomegranates are grown and harvested by Israeli farmers on stolen Palestinian farmland; about half of the crop is exported, mainly to Europe. Meanwhile, Palestinians have a far easier time gaining permits to work on Israeli-owned farms than getting permission from the military to work land that is ostensibly theirs. These restrictions apply within several kilometers of Israel's claimed borders with Gaza and the West Bank, some of the most fertile land in the area; Palestinian farmers working in this zone risk being injured or killed by military fire.
Israel further restricts Palestinians' ability to work their farms and export crops by imposing tariffs, unexpectedly closing borders, shutting down and contaminating water supplies, spraying Palestinian crops with pesticides, bulldozing crops (including eggplant) when they are ready to be harvested, and bombing Palestinian farmland and generators. Though Palestinian goods have local markets, the sale of Palestinian crops to Israel was forbidden from 2007 to 2014 (when Israel accepted shipments of goods including tomato and eggplant).
Gazans have resisted these methods by disregarding orders to avoid the arable land near Israel's claimed borders, continuing to forage native plants, growing new spices and herbs for export, planting hydroponic rooftop gardens, crushing chalk and dried eggplants to produce calcium for plants, using fish excrement as fertilizer, creating water purification systems, and growing plants in saltwater. Resisting Israeli targeting of Palestinian food self-sufficiency has been necessary for practical and economic reasons, but also symbolizes the endurance of Palestinian culture, history, and identity.
Support Palestinian resistance by calling Elbit System's (Israel's primary weapons manufacturer) landlord; donating to Palestine Action's bail fund; and buying an e-Sim for distribution in Gaza.
Serves 6-8.
Ingredients:
For the stew:
1 medium eggplant (370g)
1 cup brown lentils (عدس اسود)
600g pomegranate seeds (to make 3 cups juice)
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1/4 cup red tahina
1/2 cup olive oil
Salt, to taste
Citric acid (ملح الليمون / حامِض ليمون) (optional)
Red tahina may be approximated with home cooking tools with the above-linked recipe; you may also toast white tahina in a skillet with a little olive oil, stirring often, until it becomes deeply golden brown.
For the دُقَّة (dugga / crushed condiment):
2 tsp cumin seeds, or ground cumin
1 1/2 Tbsp dill seeds ("locust eye" بذور الشبت / عين جرادة)
5 cloves garlic
1 green sweet pepper (فلفل بارد اخضر)
2 dried red chilis (فلفل شطة احمر)
People use red and green sweet and chili peppers in whatever combination they have on hand for this recipe; e.g. red and green chilis, just green chilis, just red chilis, or just green sweet peppers. Green sweet peppers and red chilis are the most common combination.
For the طشة (Tsha / tempering) (optional):
Olive oil
1 Tbsp minced garlic
Instructions:
1. Rinse and pick over lentils. In a large pot, simmer lentils, covered, in enough water to cover for about 8 minutes, or until half-tender.
2. Meanwhile, make the dugga by combining all ingredients in a mortar and pestle or food processor, and grinding until a coarse mixture forms.
Tumblr media
Dugga and components.
3. Cube eggplant. A medium-sized eggplant may be cut in half lengthwise (through the root), each half cut into thirds lengthwise, then cubed widthwise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cubed eggplant, red tahina, and pomegranate seeds.
4. Add eggplant to simmering water (there is no need to stir).
Tumblr media
5. While the eggplant cooks, blend pomegranate seeds in a blender very thoroughly. Strain to remove any gritty residue. Whisk flour into pomegranate juice.
Tumblr media
Pomegranate juice being strained.
6. Taste your pomegranate juice. If it is not sour, add a pinch of citric acid or a splash of lemon juice and stir.
7. Add dagga to the pot with the lentils and eggplant and stir. Continue to simmer until the eggplant is very tender and falling apart.
8. Add pomegranate juice, tahina, and olive oil to the pot, and simmer for another 5 minutes, or until stew is very thick and homogenous.
Tumblr media
Bright pink pomegranate juice in stockpot.
9. (Optional) In a small skillet, heat a little olive oil on medium. Fry minced garlic, stirring constantly, until golden brown. Add into the pot and stir.
10. (Optional) Mash the stew with the bowl of a ladle or a bean masher to produce a more homogenous texture.
Serve rummaniyya hot or cold in individual serving bowls. It may be served as an appetizer, or as a main dish alongside flatbread, olives, and fresh vegetables such as radishes, green peppers, green onions, carrots, and romaine lettuce. It may be eaten with a spoon, or by using كماج (kmāj), a flatbread with an internal pocket, to scoop up each bite.

[vibrating at a rate that shatters glass] is anyone going to talk about the new marionetta chapter.
EP 36 DISCUSSION AHEAD
OKAY WHAT IS THROWING ME FOR A LOOP ABOUT THIS is that everything we’ve seen up until now has made the idea that anthonn works for an existential spider creature SO believable. like it’s practically spelled out.
the spiritual thread is silk
the circus members are “tied” together, essentially bound to the same web, restricted movement
the giant bug reveal this chapter using said thread to pull finnegan back and (safe to assume) wrap & consume him
this playing into both the common myth of how spiders feed AND the reality of their behavior. the former being that they drain fluids straight out of the body, leaving a husk leftover vampire style (the bodies of the circus members being left behind & only their souls consumed), and the latter being an external method of digestion via liquifying the body while it’s wrapped in silk (the huge conglomerate of viscera that makes up the entity in the attic)
everything about this concept fits thematically with the circus & what we’ve seen so far. especially with the blatant view of the spider that we got this chapter right?
WELL.
there’s one problem with that.
Tumblr media
this isn’t a spider.
it’s convincing enough at first with its behavior. the framing alone makes you want to think it’s one (the way it hangs & appears to dangle above its prey)
but it’s got compound eyes. and only two of them. it only has six legs instead of the signature eight. it tries to look and behave like a spider, tries to convince us that it is one, but it’s just… not?
now I’m willing to suspend my disbelief if this is an art decision factoring in, as it opens up the potential for fascinating inspection on how this universe operates. because spiders famously have multiple sets of eyes, right? it’s one of their defining features! what kind of world could exist that would be able to impose such a harsh limit of eyes onto a spider of all creatures?
a world with the ah’kon would.
i find it interesting that—if this is an artistic decision, and this creature we see is in fact a spider—the deliberate choice to only allow it two eyes gives us a very fascinating look into how the spirit world operates. planting the idea that even native beings of that world do not possess the amount of eyes necessary to see into anything beyond it. because two eyes are limited. in humans, and in this creature.
the only people capable of seeing into both are the ah’kon, and the ah’kon possess more than two eyes. one of which, very pointedly, is incapable of blinking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the spirit world appears to be inhabited by bugs and fish. we get a glimpse of a fish at the start of chapter 3, and we get a hint of a centipede at the very start of this chapter’s sequence (as well as some other arthropod-looking creature that I’m unsure of)
well. one key feature of bugs and fish, is that their eyes are incapable of blinking. they have no eyelids! these spiritual creatures have the same characteristics in their eyes that the ah’kon do in their third one. human eyes—earthly eyes—on the other hand, can fully close. and the ah’kon have the ability to do that with their lower set.
however, while they do possess eyes from both worlds, each can still only see into their respective ones, never the other.
so it’s interesting that a spider-like creature would be very pointedly limited to only two, unblinking eyes. it drives home the point of just how separate these worlds are. however powerful this creature may be, it is still held back inside its plane of existence. it doesn’t have a place on earth.
well, then what does that mean for this?
Tumblr media
i honestly don’t know yet. it’s very clear that eyes are a running motif in this story; they have been since the very start. but this tidbit of information that we’ve received via the “spider” adds more to the puzzle & gives us a little more understanding into how all of the pieces could fit together in the future. :D

Shoscombe Old Place
The final Holmes story published by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1927, this forms part of Case-Book. Doyle would write a number of other works, including two Professor Challenger stories, before his death in July 1930.
This was originally trailed as "The Adventure of the Black Spaniel".
Newmarket Heath is the sight of Newmarket Racecourse, one of the most prominent horse racing venues in the UK. Therefore, this was a rather public horsewhipping. I am pretty sure that the Jockey Club, which regulated the sport until 2006, would have a thing or two to say about actual bodily harm.
The Grand National takes place at Aintree every year and is the most famous steeplechase race in Europe; even those don't normally bet will take part, either directly or via a sweepstake.
The race has become controversial due to many horses being fatally injured when falling, frequently at the steep drop of Becher's Brook, and then euthanised over the years; various changes have been made to try to make things safer. There have been five horse deaths since the 2012 changes from 595 runners; you are fully entitled to think five is five too many. 2023 saw Animal Rising protestors attempt to stop the race and cause a delay; Hill Sixteen ended up dying, with his trainer blaming the protestors for spooking the horses.
"The Derby" refers to the Epsom Derby, held every year on the first Saturday of June. It is the flat race with the highest prize in British horse racing, with a first prize of £885,781.84 in 2023, when Ryan Moore won it riding Auguste Rodin.
"The Jews" refers to moneylenders, the stereotypical profession that Jewish people practiced. Most Jews by 1902 did not of course.
"Halt-on-demand" stations are those where passengers have to request the train stops there either via informing the guard in advance if getting off, or by other methods if getting on, like holding your arm out for a bus, although electronic methods are in increasing use. Great Britain has around 135 of them.
Historically fishing was a major source of food for poorer rural families. From 1865, you needed a licence for salmon and trout fishing, although not for other fish. The rod licence's provisions were expanded over time to prevent overfishing and you now need a licence, as well as permission of the property owner, for most fishing in England and Wales. Not in most of Scotland and Northern Ireland though. There will also be restrictions on what you can keep (which has caused issues with foreign anglers who generally don't operate on the 'put it back' principle) and the whole angling business is now pretty heavily regulated. Fish without a licence and you can be on the hook for a fine of up to £2,500.
It is a legal requirement to register a death within five days in England and Wales. There is also a separate offence of preventing a lawful and decent burial, which has a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, but it is fairly rare for someone to be charged with it unless as part of a homicide case.

Note
So what kinds of food would Aang and other Air Nomads be able to eat during visits to the Water Tribes? Assuming that their brand of vegetarianism allows for animal products like milk and eggs, but no fish or animal fat or anything that would involve killing a living creature.
Naturally, some of these will be seasonal, but this really depends on if you want only pre-contact circumpolar ingredients and cooking methods
If you want some inspiration from purely traditional foods, and can imagine a way they'd collect unfertilized fish eggs:
Wild bird (ptarmigan, grouse, corromant, etc) eggs, raw or boiled. Chicken broth could be replaced with a tea of birch bark, fireweed leaves, or tundra tea leaves to make something similar to an egg drop soup.
Roots like those of masru/eskimo potato and wooly lousewort, raw, boiled, or roasted. Could be fried in theory, but as the only fats available would be attached to animal flesh, this would violate vegetarian dietary restrictions.
Fish roe (eggs) on their own or ground up and whipped into akutaq.
Greens like sourdock, mountain sorrel, and wild celery, dressed in unsweetened syrups of fireweed blossoms or berries instead of the traditional seal oil.
Berries such as wild cranberries (lowbush and highbush), blueberries, cloudberries, wild raspberries, and crowberries, fresh or as jam (unsweetend and probably unpleasantly messy with nothing to eat it on) or akutaq.
Fireweed shoots, roasted and could be served with unsweetened syrups like the aforementioned fresh greens.
Young puffball mushrooms, eaten but not very commonly from what I can tell
And, of course, what the entire fandom was expecting: seaweed. With the lack of any proper substitutes for sessame oil or garlic, however, i'm not sure you could get something resembling a Korean style seaweed soup.
Now, if you want to include things that would have to be imported and cooking utensils and methods that aren't traditional, then you'll see foods that look a little more familiar.
Traditional foods can be stirfried in woks and served over rice or used for noodle dishes.
Here's where things like hotpot and congee are possible.
Flour can be used for doughs and batters or combined with butter to make pastry for frying in plant based oil or baking in ovens to get things like frybreads, cakes, and pies.
Milk can be added to foraged eggs to make custards which can be flavored with local berries and eddible flowers.
Mushrooms and tea can be used to replace meat broths for hearty soups.
Vegetables like cabage and onions can be added, as can protiens like beans and tofu.
And seasonings like ginger, pepper, garlic. And other ways to alter the flavor like soy sauce and vinegar (which also allows pickling). Sugar means syrups, jams, and akutaq can be sweetened, and now that bread is an option, can be eaten in combination with more foods.
This also has me wondering if other aspects than food would be given special attention to align with Air Nomand customs. Would they light lamps with plant-based oils instead of animal fat? Would they be sure to have utensils carved of wood rather than antler, bone, or ivory? Would it be seen to that sleeping mats be made of woved grass and stuffed with mosses and lichens instead of the typical skins?
Anyway, if you want to browse through common tundra plants and like two fungi and Inupiaq uses for them, check out this site

da WHOLE HOG for bambi + whichever of your newer ocs pairs best with her ;]
Hell yeah, let's do it!!
I can already tell this'll be a long one so have a page break to save yourself some dash space
Tumblr media Tumblr media
^This is Bambi! ^This is Jak L!
✨- How did you come up with the OC’s name?
Bambi -> you actually gave Bambi her name if I remember right!! I think the logic was Wilton Rader (deer motif) + Walt (Disney) = Bambi
It was funny & fit so well that I didn't bother looking for any other names after that
Jak L. -> When I was making her originally all I knew was that I wanted a pitch black head & red eyes - the tall ears were a last minute addition that made her look like Anubis to me so....well, i just couldn't resist the pull of the pun
🌼 - How old are they? (Or approximate age range)
Bambi -> It kinds depends? I jump around her timeline a lot when i draw her so here's a good rule a thumb; if her hair is in pigtails, she's meant to be no older than 10, long ponytail caps at 16, and her shorter, shoulder length cut means she's 17-19
Jak L. -> Around 18 or 19 - a little older than Bambi to up her 'cool factor' in her eyes. They meet during Bambi's first attempt to go to (Human) school
🌺- Do they have any love interest(s)?
Bambi -> Crushing hard on Jak but trying to play it cool. She's the poster child for a rebellious teen and Bambi is mesmerized by her confidence and defiance
Jak L. -> Not too keen on relationships after getting cursed by her ex during a messy breakup (she doesn't like to talk about it) Bambi's adoration is not lost on her, but she worries the curse may intervene if she gets too close
🍕 - What is their favorite food?
Bambi -> She absolutely loooovees Lake Trout. There's an abundance of them near her childhood home, so her dads cooked it for dinner often. She used to get sick of it but on long trips it's nice to be reminded of home.
Jak L. -> It used to be a lemon butter chicken thighs, but Jak's curse won't let her eat 'anything that bleeds.' She's found Chicken of the Woods to be a decent replacement, but it's just not the same.
💼 - What do they do for a living?
Bambi -> Money isn't really used outside of Human settlements, but Bambi will run errands for her uncle Warren in exchange for magical items she can sell or use. Due to the nature of his work, the 'simple errands' have a habit of becoming day long quests instead.
Jak L. -> Works part time as a babysitter for human/monster couples. Part of this job includes helping deliver the child to the other parent's home, as neither is allowed to live in the other's community. The journey can be dangerous, but she knows the trail like the back of her hand - meaning her fare can cost as much as she likes.
🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?
Bambi -> Loves wrestling and will never say no if challenged. The scruffier the struggle the more fun she has ((she also enjoys a bit of whittling due to her dad's influence but will never admit that to him))
Jak L. -> Secretly enjoys climbing up trees to write poetry. She feels her poems are too soft and melancholic for the mysterious punk rebel persona she's trying to sculpt, so no one's ever read em :(
🎯 -What do they do best?
Bambi -> Despite wrestling being her favorite pastime, Bambi is best at parkour! The Jek taught her how to take advantage of her digitigrade legs to give her a better boost in agility
Jak L. -> Jak is convinced she's the best at everything she does, but her true passion lies in lyrical prose.
🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do?
Bambi -> Other than wrestling, Bambi loves to fish! She doesn't use a rod or bait, preferring to catch them with her own hands and teeth (not always a successful method, but it's endlessly fun for her)
She hates feeling caged in or restricted, something she and Wilton argue about often.
Jak L. -> Despite how she makes it seem, Jak loves teaching and watching over the children she's put in charge of. She likes giving them the time to explore, vent, and whatever else they want but rarely have the freedom to do.
She hates authority in all it's forms, holding a strong belief that anyone in a position of power will abuse it. It's just a matter of when.
❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?
Bambi -> She'd been around 12 years old, on a visit with Wilton into a human settlement so they could sell his carvings. She caught one of the older boys trying to set fire to their stand and tackled him. She walked away with a few scratches while he limped away with a broken nose. Her father was displeased sure, but that was nothing compared to the pride she felt at winning her first brawl.
Jak L. -> A month or two after meeting Bambi, she had introduced her to her uncle; a necromancer. Jak had always wanted to learn magic but had never found a teacher patient enough to show her. It took the whole day to master but the Lich Doctor taught her how to heal minor cuts and scrapes. It may have only been a simple spell but it meant the world to her.
✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?
Bambi -> Wilton had gotten sick and stayed worryingly ill for weeks; it didn't seem like he'd get any better. Bambi offered to get the Lich Doctor to help but he was adamantly against it, resulting in a nasty argument and Bambi leaving anyway. By the time she returned, her dad had already passed. Sure, her uncle assured her that he could reincarnate him, but it didn't change the fact that her last words to him had been "I hate you"
Jak L. -> Jak had hidden herself in her favorite tree, happily writing poems no one would ever see. Her ex didn't like the thought of her keeping secrets from them, leading to a shouting match and a frenzied fight over the pages. Once read, he misinterpreted her poems as an admission to cheating; burning her work and cursing her to never be loved again. She's been looking for a way to break it ever since.
🧊 - Is their current design the first one?
Bambi -> Not at all really. The only thing left over from her first design is her yellow flannel - it's her signature character color! she looks weird without it now!!
Jak L. -> Yeah, I made Jak in January so there hasn't been a lot of (if any) evolution in her design (yet)
🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?
Bambi -> Originally I wanted to make a non-canon fankid for Wilton & Walt / The Jek to explore what they'd be like as parents. I based her personality off a little girl I saw aggressively splashing in rain puddles and laughing evilly. the rest is history
Jak L. -> Design practice! She wasn't going to be an OC at first, just an exercise in character design but when I finished I liked the potential too much for her to just be a one off.
🌂 - What genre do they belong in?
Bambi -> YA fantasy but preferably one that has more fucked up freaky little creatures ((like the spiderwick chronicles))
Jak L. -> Whatever genre Rebel Without a Cause was ((add in a fantasy or horror element so she can keep her face))
💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?
Bambi -> Demigirl + Lesbian! ❤️🧡🤍🩷💜
Jak L. -> Transfemme + Bisexual! ❤️💜💙
🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have?
Bambi -> she tried really hard to get her dads to grow a new sibling but Wilton wouldn't have it (Bambi suspects Walt planted one anyway, but has no proof)
Jak L. -> She's unsure if she has any siblings. Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. Jak doesn't know and doesn't care to find out.
🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?
Bambi -> Loving but a bit strained. Her parents' over-protectiveness kept her from exploring anything beyond the river mill for years and their secrecy prevented her from learning anything about their pasts. She wishes they'd respect her autonomy and not keep so many secrets from her
Jak L. -> Cold and distant. All she knows about them is that they left her behind and disappeared. She doesn't know if they died, but she wouldn't be upset if they did. As far as she's concerned, her father is the sun and her mother the moon
🧠 - What do you like most about the OC?
Bambi -> all the potential pathways I could take her character! Her storyline isn't set in stone like some of my other OCs so I have a lot of fun putting her in Situations™
Jak L. -> her design for sure. She's incredibly fun to draw, especially her locs & baggy t-shirt
✏️ - How often do you draw/write about the OC?
Bambi -> Getting back in the habit of drawing her again now that I've gotten over my second-hand embarrassed ab sharing my stuff. I've definitely got more notes about her than I do drawings
Jak L. -> Only very recently started fleshing her out via notes/short stories. It's been fun getting to know what her personality is going to be like
💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?
Bambi -> I don't think I've ever thought ab killing Bambi off, not even in an angsty one-off. She's got too much of a story to tell to cut it short like that
Jak L. -> kinda? But not really dedicated to it just yet. She's too new for me to want to get rid of so quickly.
💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?
Bambi -> She'll claim she doesn't, but she's absolutely Claustrophobic
Jak L. -> Not exactly Pyrophobic since she can be around campfires or a fireplace well enough, but she will refuse to interact with it in any way that doesn't involve putting it out
🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?
Bambi -> The Big Secret her family has been hiding from her ((she hasn't really met Him yet))
Jak L. -> Jak sees every established institution as her arch nemesis
🎓 - How long have you had the OC?
Bambi -> oh man it's been a loongg while....I think since 2017 or 2018? That makes her about 7 or 8 years old....wow...
Jak L. -> Jak is about 4 months old ‼️
🍥 - What age were you when you created the OC?
Bambi -> I was probably 16 or 17 when I first sketched her up
Jak L. -> Can confidently confirm that I was 22 when Jak popped onto my canvas
Phew! You made it to the end! Thanks!

Among the og 5(Marinette, Adrien, Alya,Chloé and Nino)+ Felix, Kagami and Zoé,which Auspicious you think would fit they desires the best?
Well, as the Auspicious comes to those who need or want a change in their quality of life...
Marinette
Marinette would most likely draw in Crane. That's a desire she has that she struggles with most: the romance. With Crane, she'd get to establish a friendly connection that can give her a chance to bond with her crush and try and take things further. It would also open her eyes to other possibilities as she doesn't have to stick to that first love.
There is also possibility for Marinette to have Rooster, while she has a good reputation and strong sense of integrity, she also doesn't get recognized for all that she does (like putting her future career on the line so Adrien can go to school, letting him think his father made the scarf, ect.), and Orikko may feel she should, to embrace having self-pride.
Otherwise, Crane's probably the only one she'd really draw in.
Adrien
Adrien hands down would easily get Horse. Not only is he feeling isolated and stuck and desire freedom and mobility, but he feels disconnected from people and wants to make friends. That's the definition of everything Horse covers.
Adrien could also draw in Deer, Bear, and Crane.
Adrien, to my knowledge as I stopped watching around s3, actually doesn't have any drive or ambition for his life (outside romance). Nothing he thinks he wants to do for a career. It's also pretty clear that he doesn't quite have down who he is, given the split personalities he takes on as Adrien vs Chat. Deer would come in to help him figure out what he wants to do with his life, what does he enjoy; and to help him figure out who he is. He is the harmonious perfect son? Is he the goofy and eager hero? Or is he somewhere in between?
Bear would work off Adrien's desire to connect with his family, particularly with Gabriel, as Adrien canon wise seemed to have moved on from Emilie's passing (from what I've seen). Bear would also open his eyes to found family instead, if blood related family doesn't work out.
Crane would be drawn in with Adrien's strong desire for romantic love. It would help him have a chance to bond and connect with his crush and potentially move things forward. Crane though would also be willing to open his eyes to other possibilities as the first love isn't always the true love.
Alya
I think I would say Mantis for Alya. Crane may come to her because Alya likes to be a matchmaker, but that would only be because the kwami would be very bothered by Alya's methods.
While Alya has a good head on her shoulders, and can be observant and clever, she can be reckless and over eager, and it wouldn't hurt for her to learn to be wiser. To learn to open her eyes and broaden her perception.
Otherwise, of what I can remember of Alya, I don't really see anything else that would draw an Auspicious to her. She has good ties to family, she's well off, she has a good reputation, doesn't seem to have a lot of struggles with romance herself, she may be good creatively or maybe she needs a boost of creativity so maybe Spider?, uh, she's not restricted and doesn't struggle with making friends, she knows what she wants to do and who she is... yeah Mantis is the only one I could say for sure that she draws in as that's the only thing she really needs, to grow in wisdom.
Nino
I have no idea for Nino. There is just too little given on him as an individual character to know what he wants or desires or may even need. And from what I can see, there's nothing he's struggling with in life.
It may be that, for now, Nino just doesn't draw an Auspicious to him.
He could draw in Bear given his line in Bubbler, but that could also be him being a frustrated teen. They're bound to get annoyed with parents. That's not enough to draw the Bear in. I don't know what his family's financial situation is so I can't say for sure if he'd draw in Fish. He's second to Marinette in seen with the most friends, so he has a good reputation. He doesn't seem to be struggling in love, so no Crane. He's not struggling creatively, so no Spider. He's not restricted so no Horse. He knows what he wants to do and I don't really see a struggle so no Deer. And I don't really see anything to him that suggests he needs to grow in intellect or wisdom, so he doesn't really need Mantis.
Uh, yeah I don't think anything really clicks for Nino amongst the Auspicious. At least of what we have of him so far.
Chloe
Honestly, Chloe's not likely to really draw in any of the Auspicious either. The core concept of them is quality of life improvements, those who are truly in need of it. And being Auspicious, they don't like going to terrible people as the good they bring is more likely to be selfishly used and abused.
I will say there are possibilities for Chloe to draw in, but they truly wouldn't come to her if they had a choice.
Bear is kinda the most debatable on this list, the idea to connect with family doesn't hurt, and she clearly does want that (with her mother), but also her family is terrible.
Chloe has a terrible and infamous reputation. Rooster may be drawn in to fix that, and may teach Chloe some actual integrity and improve how she is as a person; but I could also see this Miraculous turning it's nose up and letting her deal with the fire she started around herself.
Spider is one of the more likely to come to Chloe, as Chloe does struggle with her creativity. But the big point against Spider is that Chloe doesn't want to be creative, she only does so to try and connect to her mother, not to be innovative. And that may not interest the Spider at all.
Mantis would only come because she's one of the dumbest people in Paris and it kinda hurts the kwami just to look at her. But, she's more likely to leave Chloe to face her own recklessness. Consequences will be the better teacher, especially as she knows chances are low that Chloe would listen to her.
Felix
Is tricky as it can depend on what sort of Felix you're doing.
PV Felix we have little info on, we know he's more of a loner, not afraid to be clear with his feelings and opinions, and is potentially an asshole, but that could also be because PV Marinette never left him alone despite the clear no. He could draw in Crane to help with his crush, but it would come down the reasons for his pursuit, like if he's cursed and that's why he's pursuing LB, then yeah Crane's not going to come to him. And the little we see of PV Felix, nothing really stands out to me.
I've seen some people do that he is lonely and socially awkward, so that's a point for Rooster.
Canon Felix... maybe be Bear, it could be interested to try and improve family relations, but it could also pick up that Felix is just not interested in connecting with the Agrestes and leave him be. Uh, Gabriel seems to have more wealth and power than Felix's mother and hold that over Felix's head, so he could be the first to actually draw in Fish to boost his family's wealth, but it would be more interested to go to those more in need.
For my take on Felix, I'd probably say Rooster, but it would come post him opening up to others and actually having some investment in making friends. Which is harder for him given he doesn't have a good reputation, and it's awkward as he wasn't interested in making friends before. So Rooster could help him smooth out his reputation and connect with others better.
Kagami
Would probably draw in Horse.
Given that she wants to make friends and wants more freedom and a chance to explore, Horse meets and qualifies, as it is about mobility, and making connections with others.
Zoe
I guess Rooster? Rooster can play into figuring herself out, establishing her reputation and who she is.
I don't know if there's enough given on Zoe for anything else.

[CN] MLQC Lucien's Through Thousands of Mirrors event translation (Day 5 - Monday)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Through Thousands of Mirrors Event | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 (You're here!) | Day 6 | Day 7 | HS/Uni SSR Story: Monochrome Scenery
Tumblr media
-
special thanks to ivi (@ivioivioivi on twitter) for helping me with that last part 🫶
-
[PREVIEW]
A perfect week starts with morning prepping.
Lucien opens the textbook and reads through all the content that will be covered today.
He closes the textbook, then mentally connects and integrates the knowledge.
Ok, it's time to go to class!
-
[NEUROSCIENCE]
Tumblr media
In Dr. Lawson's neuroscience class, there are occasional pop quizzes.
The first question can be answered with common sense, the second question is doable if you've reviewed the textbook, and the third question covers the material from the previous class, so it's quite easy.
The final question: "Discuss in 20 words the correlation between the prefrontal cortex, human behavior, and choice patterns in stressful environments."
Uh?
Tumblr media
"P.S. Just kidding. Draw a cat in the upper left corner of your answer sheet for bonus points."
.......
Tumblr media
"P.P.S. It would be even better if it's a tabby cat. An extra point for those who draw a tabby cat."
.....Okay.
-
[COGNITIVE SCIENCE]
Tumblr media
Lucien looks at the cognitive science lesson plan and has a sudden inspiration.
It would be interesting to research a method that makes the brain receive or process information in a fixed manner.
He thinks Dr. Lawson would refuse the project proposal due to ethical concerns.
And if BS were to propose this direction, his research freedom would be restricted.
You can't have your cake and eat it too*.
[T/N: "鱼和熊掌不可兼得" (yú hé xióng zhǎng bù kě jiān dé) (lit translated to: You can't have both fish and bear's paw) is a Chinese idioms that means you can't have both at the same time. It's similar to the English saying, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."]
-
[BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE]
When you have many classmates aspiring to become physicians around you, there is always a loving and friendly atmosphere in the biomedical classroom.
But when your classmates start discussing how to prevent hair loss, this atmosphere dissipates.
Lucien touches his own hair, there shouldn't be a problem.
-
[FREE TIME]
Besides observing the passing students, Lucien also enjoys observing the small animals on campus.
Chickadees, crows, squirrels...
Um?
Lucien looks at his empty hands and understands why the squirrels on campus are particularly big and strong.
-
[LAB]
Lucien really likes his "workstation" in the laboratory.
The desk isn't large, but it's by the window, providing him with an environment where he won't be easily disturbed, and it just a bit sunny in the afternoon.
It's quite suitable for keeping some plants.
-
[LAB]
Tumblr media
The beauty of science lies in its rigor, in the certainty reached through numerous hypotheses and repeated proofs.
And perhaps it also lies in the uncertainty of all possibilities during the process and the journey of venturing into the vast unknown.
-
[LAB]
Tumblr media
Dr. Lawson treats people cordially and enjoys having open discussions with all kind of questions with students.
When facing Colt's statement that seems to come out of nowhere, "Capable people can be arrogant," Dr. Lawson also shares his own opinion.
"I think that arrogance should be directly proportional to one's achievements."
Lucien nods and says, “I also think we should always examine ourselves.”
Dr. Lawson raises his head with little cunning smile : “No, what I mean is for you to get a bit more achievements.”
Tumblr media
Lucien was choked.

Idea I had for a Minecraft mod from around 2021-2022. I was smart enough to bother writing this one down, so I'll just copy from what I wrote (with minor tweaks here and there):
A survival-oriented mod that re-works some mob behaviour to make them more interesting, varied and unique without going too overboard or derailing from their original purpose and impact towards the player.
General changes (changes that affect more than one mob)
Mobs that burn in the sun will prioritize putting themselves out before anything else. Even ignoring the player if they're attacking them.
If there's no nearby method to put themselves out they'll helplessly run around until they die.
If the mob has armor that protects them from the sun they'll still seek cover but only if they have no other priority.
Fish that spawn in schools will flee when a player comes near.
Patrols increase in difficulty the higher level your 'Bad Omen' status effect is.
If the player lacks Bad Omen patrols will completely ignore the player unless they get too close.
While under the status effect patrols will specifically hunt after the player.
The Bad Omen status effect can no longer be removed by drinking milk. Instead it goes away in 10 minutes while nearby a new block: The 'Hopeful Banner'.
A Hopeful Banner is obtained from a level 5 patrol (It replaces the normal pillager banner when you have Bad Omen at level 5).
THUNDERSTORM ADDITIONS Thunderstorm lightning will now give unique effects to more mobs.
Drowneds get an enchanted trident.
Illagers become witches.
Husks and Strays revert to Zombies and Skeletons respectively.
Phantoms instantly die and always drop a phantom membrane.
Zombies become Giants.
Zombie Villagers get cured.
Slimes have their size increase by 2, no matter what it was before (meaning it can go above the natural limit).
Ravagers become Hoglins.
Skeletons gain a skeleton horse.
Horses either become a skeleton horse or a zombie horse.
Silverfish become Endermite.
Ocelots become cats.
Donkeys become Mules.
Mules either become Donkeys or Horses.
Squids become Glow Squids.
Sheep become Goats.
Snow Golems become Iron Golems.
Spiders become spider jockeys, with the skeleton having armour similar to a skeleton horse trap.
Cave spiders become normal spiders.
Most effects that transforms the mob into another mob also work the opposite way.
Passive/Neutral mob changes
Horse
Horses are now neutral mobs capable of defending themselves and running away from attacks.
Tamed horses are still able to sometimes kick the player if hurt by them, but will never run away.
Ocelot
Ocelots are now neutral mobs and will attack the player in retaliation.
Ocelots can become pets and will behave identically to cats (but don't change their appereance to one).
Ocelots can hunt rabbits.
Ocelots now have a predator (wolves) and will run away from them.
Squid
Squid's ink now give a second of blindness.
Villager
Villagers will employ better techniques to avoid zombies (like forcing their way past them if they're cornered) and will look after Iron Golems to huddle around if chased by one.
The same techniques applies to players and any mob that attacks them.
Iron Golem
Every naturally generated village is now guaranteed to have at least one Iron Golem.
Iron Golems' patrol behaviour during night is now restricted to areas with Villagers instead of the entire village. This also means Golems may remain stationary outside the entrance of buildings (effectively looking like a bouncer).
Iron Golem's can now hear when a Villager is hurt and will search for them appropriately.
Polar Bear
Polar Bears without cubs will sometimes spawn as hostile and attack players on sight.
Polar Bears now drop leather and meat alongside their normal drops.
Wolf
Wolves will defend their pups like Polar Bears.
Wolves now hunt cats, ocelots and goats.
Hostile mob changes
Magma Cubes
Slimes will become magma cubes if submerged in lava. Similar to how zombies become drowneds.
Magma cubes have a chance to ignite the player when successfully attacking them.
Phantom
Phantoms only spawn once per night.
Phantoms can spawn even if the player does not have clear access to the sky. In which case they'll hover around the player and wait for them to have sky access.
Phantoms don't contribute to being unable to sleep in bed because of hostile mobs being nearby.
Cave Spider
Cave Spider's venom now applies additively. Meaning getting hit by a Cave Spider while poisoned will increase the poison level.
However, getting hit by a Cave Spider now only adds a bit of time to the poison instead of resetting the time. Specifically 3 seconds on normal and 6 on hard (they don't apply poison on easy).
This also means the first hit gives you that amount of time of poison instead of the regular length.
The amount of time is maxed at the original time that the poison had. So the max is 7 seconds on normal and 15 seconds on hard.
Cave Spiders can now spawn deep underground outside of mineshafts, but only very rarely.
Enderman
Endermen's attack length is increased to now make it harder to cheese them but still possible to safely hit them with normal weapons.
In the overworld Endermen will now call upon other nearby Endermen when provoked. Making them also chase after you.
Creeper
Charged Creepers now have electric buzzes and sounds to their hisses to easily differentiate them from regular creepers and make them more noticeable.
Creepers will instantly explode if set on fire. But the explosion is weaker.
Silverfish
Silverfish can now spawn deep underground outside of mountain biomes, but much less frequently than in mountains.
Vindicator
20% of Pillagers in patrols are replaced by Vindicators.
Witch
Witches' drops are entirely changed. Now consisting of every type of potion they can use, bottles and mushrooms
Witches' health has been reduced
Witches now have a 1-2 second delay whenever they show a potion before they use it.
To compensate for this Witches now attack faster, matching their attack rate from before.
Witches now use a wider selection of potions and take advantage of them (for example they can now drink invisibility potions and will scuddle around while invisible).
Witches are fearful of villages and will avoid following you into one. They also avoid villagers, who play a frustrated sound if they see one.
Zombie
Zombies that aren't in armour will sometimes plunge towards players if close enough.
Whenever a zombie spawns reinforcements (an obtuse vanilla mechanic that only exists on hard) a noticeable sound is played.
Zombies can now spawn with axes, and attack slower with both swords and axes.
Zombies with swords will use sweep attacks.
Zombies with axes break down doors and shields like Vindicators and can do so even on medium difficulty.
Baby Zombies now have less health and damage than regular zombies.
However, Baby Zombies now ignore shields and will try to confuse the player by constantly circling them while attacking.
Giant
Giants now exist outside of commands. Spawned when a zombie is struck by lightning.
They move very slowly and are unable to use armor or hold anything.
They attack either through the force created whenever they walk or with their hands if the player is high up enough.
Their 'stomp' attack has large knockback and a near constant attack rate but low damage. It serves mainly to annoy the player and encourage them to swap to attacking from a distance.
Their normal attack with their hands flings the player up, similarly to the ender dragon, and deals very high damage.
They have insanely high health
When killed they drop 50-100 experience and a ton of rotten flesh.
Husk
Husks received the same changes that Zombies did to their behaviour.
Husks now apply "drought" instead of hunger. "Drought" has the same effect as mining fatigue and hunger but can only be removed by eating something or by drinking milk.
Removing "drought" with food also makes you immune to it for a minute.
Wither Skeleton
Wither Skeleton's wither is now applied additively, identical to how it worked with Cave Spiders.
However, the time added every hit is 5 seconds and the maximum is 10 seconds. No matter the difficulty.
Skeleton
Skeletons will now flee from targets if they get too close.
Skeletons will also lower their weapon while fleeing.
This change is carried over to Strays.

The Bhopal Tragedy
On the night of December 2nd, 1984, a Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India, began leaking 27 tonnes of the deadly gas methyl isocyanate. None of the six safety systems designed to contain such a leak were operational, allowing the gas to spread throughout the city of Bhopal. Half a million people were exposed to the gas and 25,000 have died to date as a result of their exposure. More than 120,000 people still suffer from ailments caused by the accident and the subsequent pollution at the plant site. These ailments include blindness, extreme difficulty in breathing and gynaecological disorders. In the Immediate aftermath, the health care system immediately became overloaded. In the severely affected areas, nearly 70% were under-qualified doctors. Medical staff were unprepared for the thousands of casualties. Doctors and hospitals were not aware of proper treatment methods for MIC gas inhalation. There were mass funerals and cremations. Within a few days, trees in the vicinity became barren, and bloated animal carcasses had to be disposed of. 170,000 people were treated at hospitals and temporary dispensaries, and 2,000 buffalo, goats, and other animals were collected and buried. Supplies, including food, became scarce owing to suppliers' safety fears. Fishing was prohibited, causing further supply shortages. Formal statements after a few weeks were issued that air, water, vegetation, and foodstuffs were safe, but people were warned not to consume fish. The number of children exposed to the gases was at least 200,000. Within weeks, the State Government established a number of hospitals, clinics, and mobile units in the gas-affected area to treat the victims.  A cohort of 80,021 exposed people was registered, along with a control group, a cohort of 15,931 people from areas not exposed to MIC. Nearly every year since 1986, they have answered the same questionnaire. It shows excess mortality and morbidity in the exposed group. Bias and confounding factors cannot be excluded from the study. Because of migration and other factors, 75% of the cohort is lost, as the ones who move out are not followed. A number of clinical studies are performed. The quality varies, but the different reports support each other. Studied and reported long-term health effects are: Eyes: Chronic conjunctivitis, scars on cornea, corneal opacities, early cataracts Respiratory tracts: Obstructive and/or restrictive disease, pulmonary fibrosis, aggravation of tuberculosis and chronic bronchitis Neurological system: Impairment of memory, finer motor skills, numbness, etc. Psychological problems: Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Children's health: Peri- and neonatal death rates increased. Failure to grow, intellectual impairment, etc. Missing or insufficient fields for research are female reproduction, chromosomal aberrations, cancer, immune deficiency, neurological sequelae, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and children born after the disaster. Late cases that might never be highlighted are respiratory insufficiency, cardiac insufficiency (cor pulmonale), cancer and tuberculosis. Bhopal now has high rates of birth defects and records a miscarriage rate 7x higher than the national average. The site has never been properly cleaned up and it continues to poison the residents of Bhopal.

World building Wednesday: How to combat the wasteland, the Evelow and Recom methods.
So we know the story of my oc-verse, the world inhabited by all is mostly wasteland filled with harsh weather, deadly plants, and large monsters. There are pockets of civilizations in between, but the ones most adept to survival are either the small communities who travel a lot (and are a bit roughened up to their environment) or the larger cities with technology or engineering that can protect themselves. While Evelow is the main one featured in my story, I also wanted to talk about Recom and how they deal with it.
(hope y'all get used to this picture, I tend to share it a lot, especially in my worldbuilding segments.)
Tumblr media
Evelow genetically modifies their plants and animals. They have many that aren’t natural. Those include plants with bioluminescence or animals engineered for shows. Natural life can be found though, though it's heavily protected, such as in parks, sanctuaries, or the large farmland found on the left side of the city.
Any species small enough to make its way to Evelow are typically non threatening enough, but if unfamiliar species are detected, they're encouraged to be reported to the authorities. ~for research purposes of course !~
Recom has no plants or animals, (or rarely do, I.e. pets or farming); it's a very industrial city, much smaller than Evelow but big enough to have the resources to restrict natural access. Even people going in and out need clearance, but that's only for inland.
Most of their economy is based on fishing and shipping, so it's a very seaport town. People going in and out via ships aren't required to be cleared since they're usually only in Recom for a few days. But you'll be damned to see fresh plants or a wild animal roaming around here.

Tsuchil Types!
Tumblr media
Coralus: Coralus Tsuchil are a tropical species, best suited for warmer, shallower waters. They are identified by their pair of semi-translucent fins on their tails, as well as a third fin in the center that varies in length between individuals. They are known for being one of the most aggressive and territorial tribes, fighting anyone and anything that they deem is a threat to them. Their best method of defense is in their aggressive manner and possessing sharp claws and teeth for biting and slashing at attackers. (Sonic is turned into a Coralus)
Tumblr media
Nightlight: Nightlight Tsuchil are a deeper water tribe that inhabits deep trenches and sea-caves. They are identified by their large, crescent-shaped flukes and bio-luminescent markings, which give them their name and vary between individuals. They use these flashing markings to communicate emotion and intention over long distances in the darkness of their homes, and while not particularly aggressive towards intruders, they wouldn’t be considered friendly either. Their tribe has recently had good seasons of food and thus there has been a boom of pups being born, which leaves them pushing on the territories of the Coraluses to the south. They are also most capable of emitting sonic vocalizations to hunt, and are able to communicate with other “Non-handed” sea creatures. (Shadow is turned into a Nightlight)

Paddletail: Paddletail Tsuchil are an adaptable tribe of tsuchil, their territories branching out from the tropical waters around the equator to the cooler waters of the north and south oceans. They are known by their large, whale-like flukes, and for being exceptional healers, maintaining relatively good relations between the other tribes by providing their medicinal studies and elixirs as trade. Many Paddletail are a part of a group called The Separate, whose job is to act as healers for other tribes, but are restricted from engaging in those tribe’s culture and are sworn to a vow of chastity.

Estuary: The Estuary Tribe is unique from the others, in that the majority of them do not resemble hedgehogs at all. It is said that while the other tribes were made up by hedgehog ancestors, the Estuaries were made up of... everyone else. This being said, the Estuaries do not have designated territories, instead migrating about the seas in groups of their own, but rarely going far out to see. Their name comes from the fact that they typically take spouses from the land, like an Estuary is a place where fresh and saltwater meet. Such unions between land and sea rarely stay together, and most Estuary mothers make up colonies where all of them care for each others’ pups, while the males are relatively solitary in the oceans. They, like the Nightlights, have sonic vocalizations, but use it more for communication than for hunting.

Northern Speckled: Northern Speckled Tsuchil thrive in the cold oceans around the north pole, their territory covering most of those oceans. They are known for being scholars and teachers, the Northern Collective being the largest collection of Tsuchil literature and history stored in the oceans. They are one of the most friendly tribes, allowing just about anyone into their territory as long as they’re not there to cause trouble. They make their homes in sea caves and ice tunnels all throughout the area, and struggle to survive long out of their icy domain. They can be differentiated from Southern Speckled Tsuchil by their spots being lighter than the rest of their coat, while the Southern Speckleds’ spots are darker. They are occasionally mistaken for seals whenever they surface along the ice, though they are in close trading with the seals of the area.

Southern Speckled: Southern Speckled Tsuchil have their territory covering the region of the South Pole, and much like their northern cousins, are pretty friendly towards visitors. Differentiated by their darker spots, the Southern Speckled are expert hunters of fish and also carvers. The jewelry and adornments made by their hands are exquisite, but it is a bit of a mystery where they get their stone from, seeing as most of the south pole is sealed in thick walls of ice. It is also common for them to speak in riddles, which can make trading with them a little difficult if you are not familiar with it.

The Best Diet for Weight Loss: What You Need to Know
Tumblr media
When it comes to weight loss, finding the right diet can be overwhelming amidst the plethora of options available. Here's a breakdown of some popular diets and their effectiveness:
1. Low-Carb Diet:
Focuses on reducing carbohydrate intake, leading to a decrease in insulin levels and an increase in fat burning.
Examples include Atkins, Keto, and Paleo diets.
Can result in rapid weight loss, especially during the initial stages.
However, long-term sustainability may be challenging for some individuals.
2. Mediterranean Diet:
Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats like olive oil and nuts.
Includes moderate consumption of fish, poultry, and dairy, with limited red meat.
Rich in antioxidants and heart-healthy nutrients, promoting overall well-being.
Known for its sustainability and long-term health benefits.
3. Intermittent Fasting:
Involves cycling between periods of eating and fasting.
Common methods include the 16/8 method, where you fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8-hour window.
May lead to improved metabolic health, reduced inflammation, and weight loss.
Requires careful planning to ensure adequate nutrient intake during eating periods.
4. Plant-Based Diet:
Centers around whole, minimally processed plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains.
Naturally low in calories and high in fiber, promoting satiety and weight loss.
Linked to lower risks of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.
Offers environmental sustainability benefits as well.
5. Flexible Dieting (IIFYM):
Focuses on tracking macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fat) to meet specific dietary goals.
Allows for a more flexible approach to eating, incorporating a wide variety of foods.
Emphasizes overall calorie intake rather than specific food restrictions.
Can be tailored to individual preferences and lifestyle.
In conclusion, the best diet for weight loss varies depending on personal preferences, health goals, and lifestyle factors. It's essential to choose a sustainable approach that aligns with your needs and preferences while focusing on overall health and well-being.

What is the most influential/popular form of art in wamashi society as of now? Are they in art movement in particular by the times of cosmos and current?
Oh y'all are making me WORLDBUILD today huh.
Hm... so I can't give one total overarching answer to that because Albea is very, very big and has a lot of cultures and of course wamashi aren't going to have the exact same eras we do. However, I can list off equivalents that best describe the era each province is in - though of course its all blended together and not restricted to each province. So enough rambling.
We're gonna start with Isalka to the north. feel like they're very big fans of metalworking in their current era. Carefully molding scraps of metal into shape, whether in a forge or in their backyards, blacksmithing or welding. This is majorly in part because Isalka is the biggest exporter of metals and has So Much Of It. Isalka has a very Art Noveau-esque style - pragmatic and clean and ornamental.
On the COMPLETE OPPOSITE side of the spectrum, I feel liiiike in the Southern province of Asaiva especially there's a culture resembling Arte Povera - making art using "poor" materials such as rocks and rope and cloth, etc etc. And then mix that with a bit of surrealism.
However, this isn't because the South is poor (honestly it's the opposite) - these are simply very common materials for them, as Asaiva has a very fishing-and-seafaring culture. Ropes and rocks to tie oneself to land, cloth like from sails to guide yourself on the waters - it's a sort of reverence for the ocean and the deity inhabiting it.
Now Myretei to the east... Romanticism, but with gears and clocks. Down to earth but very methodical and mechanic, with art such as "paintings" made of metal scraps that routinely move in a set pattern. Basically a looping animation but powered by mechanisms instead of being drawn. Super SUPER steampunk.
Akaiyel... Akaiyel is a fun one, because the western province is a cultural mixing pot. Why wouldn't it be, it's the transport capital! Expressionism, futurism, pop art... and mix those in with all the other listed cultures. The rule there is "literally whatever you want".
And finally, Ryzatyl... the central province in the middle of all this. Moreso travelled through than travelled to, due to its ungodly temperatures and how there's literally parts of it that get too hot to live in comfortably for people, and the art that develops there can't really be put under one label - the art of survival, proudly displaying their love for a home others see as dangerous and wild in a way that almost seems violently alive, paints placed onto canvas with claws and tails instead of brushes. They'll even use bones or furs from livestock or hunted animals to emphasize this. If I had to name it... ars vivendi, or "the art of living" would be a fitting term. (Apologies if that's incorrect Latin - I am merely armed with google translate).
And that's all! Sorry Anon, you were probably expecting something short and sweet but the reality is wamashi are incredibly varied in their cultures and summarizing their culture to a simple point is a feat I have yet to achieve.
