Today was a weird experience with the fact that I had an online class while being in the university campus thanks to previous classes. The discovery of today thanks to that is that online classes while on campus sucks because the internet is always dying. Conclusion: I didn’t understand half of the lecture and I need to do twice the work now at home to try understand it.

「  Day 4 of studyblr community challenge - How longe have you had a studyblr? 」 I'm not entirely sure. This is my second studyblr which was created because I was away from the other one for maybe a year and when I decided to return I didn't remember any of the login info. This one was created in september of 2017 according to the archive since the first post remotes to that, but I remember creating my first one in my first year of high school so maybe 2016?

Hello hello! Nice to meet you all! ♡ I’m Nísa. I’m twenty, and I’m from Northern Ireland. I’m rejoining the studyblr community after quite some time and I’m really very excited. Formerly, I was studyinorsk - I’m hoping a fresh start in line with my new treatment plans will help me stay motivated!!

I am a freelance illustrator, and a language student (though I have had to leave formal education due to my health). I’m determined to keep studying, though, and I went to summer school in Lyon last year to practice my French.

I currently struggle with CICI (chemotherapy induced cognitive impairment) which affects my concentration and memory, and I am physically disabled. However, this year I am starting physiotherapy and OT to try and help me overcome my fatigue and slowly get back on my feet! All this to say, please be patient with me as my health has to take priority, of course ♡

I’m so excited to meet more studyblr friends!! hi! i’m phoebe, and i’ll be starting year 12 this september. i’ve wanted to start a studyblr for a while, and i’m finally taking the plunge!

a little about me ―

i’m a queer cryptid and a minor disaster waiting to happen, so hopefully this blog will be a good way of keeping myself accountable and ensuring i actually study. knuckling down was something i struggled with during gcses, so making studying a habit is my goal for year 12. for a levels i’ll be studying english literature, rs (religious studies) and history.

when i’m not studying, i can be found crying over wilfred owen poems, writing, or schlepping through a muddy field with my dog.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Norwegian, English, learned German in school (have forgotten a fair bit since then but can still understand/read it), and I am currently trying to learn Dutch

FAVOURITE SEASON: that has to be spring! Love it when the snow melts, the temperature gets just right, everything blossoms and the sun stays up for longer  

FAVOURITE FLOWER: can’t choose between one - sunflowers, daisies or poppies 

FAVOURITE SCENT: maybe the smell of botanical gardens/greenhouses?

COFFEE, TEA OR HOT CHOCOLATE: hot chocolate 100%, unpopular opinion: have never liked tea or coffee  

AVERAGE SLEEP HOURS: I’d say probably 8 hours, 9-10 on the weekends

DOG OR CAT PERSON: cat person! I’ve had two cats in the past and really wished I had one to cuddle with right now

NUMBER OF BLANKETS YOU SLEEP WITH: one, or I’ll put on an extra blanket during the winter

DREAM TRIP: Canada and New Zealand are on the top of my travel bucket list, and I’d really like to go and see tulip fields in the Netherlands 

BLOG ESTABLISHED: August 2017 (woah that’s almost three years ago) although I have been quite inconsistent oops

RANDOM FACT: I was in Kiev Ukraine on a study trip when my government announced lockdown, so that was a bit of a mess but I managed to get home safely

1. How has your day been?

It's been okay, I'm relaxing today since it's Friday and i was feeling a bit low this last couple of days.

2. What was the last thing that made you smile?

The sun is shining! It's a really warm autumn day and I'm enjoying it!

3. What’s keeping you entertained these days?

Practicing piano, talking to friends. My mom and i got into composting, so there's that too, takes a bit of time.

4. If you are in some kind of quarantine/self-isolation: is there anything you’d like to achieve at this time?

Improving my French, learn Italian, read a chapter of a book in French a day, drop bad habits like being disorganised and fixing my sleep schedule.

College is something that we hear about during all of our lives. Being growing up while watching movies, being later in high school when teachers and ourselves start to talk more and more about, and especially when the time to make a decision came by.

The truth is that the process of entering college can be different from person to person and place to place, but the ways that we try to make our lives easier during those times can be applied to any college student. So I decided to share some advice that helped me, a student starting her senior year in college, survive till now.

Integration is key.

    Sometimes people start college with the mindset that they are there to have a degree and yes! that is true, but this experience is more than just studying. Even if you are shy try your best to socialize with other people, to meet people in your classes, your year and even older. I promise you that this experience, this stage of your life has a different value when you do it accompanied by people that you feel comfortable with.

    I know that with COVID-19 situation many people are still having all classes in an online format, but we still can socialize with people in that way. We both know that, so let’s try! Let’s make friends and conquer our degrees with good memories!

Stop cramming the night before.

    With time management we can put the “Let’s study everything in the last minute technique away”. Stop procrastinating and start using your time wisely. Because you can have a good note once in a test that you used this technique, but it was worth it? The sleepless night, the fatigue and the anxiety were worth it? I don’t think so!

     Let’s use this night just for a quick revision, but especially for rest.

Ask for help if you need.

  I know that something that everyone tells is that the teachers don’t care about us, but I am sure that if you have doubts they will help you. Your teacher, another one that is nicer and also teaches that class or some other student that had an excellent note is available to help you. Don’t be afraid to ask, someone will be there I promise you.

Learn how to manage your life the fastest you can.

   What I mean is: learn how you can manage your time and money wisely so that you don’t have bad surprises. Because every one of us, college students, had a bad experience with exams or spending because we didn’t manage your life correctly.

   Try to find ways to manage your time so you can study, relax and social with your friends, creating a study plan for example. Besides that, start tracking your expenses and do a budget so you can be less broke at the end of the month ;)

Your experience at your own pace.

   We are all different people with different needs so don’t feel pressure to start or finish your degree at the same pace at others. Sometimes, we need time to find yourselves, to rest because our bodies can’t take anymore and it is fine. Do it at your pace and for you, ALWAYS!

Student discounts are your best friend.

    Let’s just all of us be thankful that being a student sometimes has benefits. Use and abuse of student discounts for your friends’ gatherings and shopping time, it will help you save more money than you can imagine.

Don’t skip class.

    I don’t know about you, but paying for studying for me is probably the best motivation for going to every class. I hate spending money and something that I’m not enjoying, so if I have to pay I am definitely going to be in that class.
