As you stand from the table, your name draws your attention from your plate. Mr. Laufeyson mirrors you as he peers over at his mother. You notices how his fingers twiddle by his side.
“You’ll come get ready with us, dear,” Frigga says, “Trina is coming to do our hair an makeup. Be sure to grab your dress.”
“Oh, uh…” you look at Laufeyson and he shrugs with one shoulder. “Okay.”
“Don’t worry about my brother,” Hela snorts, “I’m certain he’ll be torturing himself over the proper shade of white; shall I go for the ivory or the pearl?”
“Quiet,” Laufeyson sneers under his breath before he turns to you, “go on then,” he looks at his watch, “we all have much to do.”
He strides past you and you watch after him. He’s still upset. It’s your fault. You’ve been errant in your duties. You will make it up to him. At Walpurgisnacht, you won’t dare leave his side.
“Come,” Frigga beckons to you, “Hel, you too.”
“Yes, mother,” she drones and rounds the table.
You follow them to the door, only noticing as you approach that Thor’s done the same. He keeps a step back as he waves within, “after you, lady.”
“Er, thanks,” you eke out and step in ahead of him.
He’s quick to tail you, his fingers sending a shiver through you as he touches the back of your arm, “happy birthday, little one. How old are you now?” He asks.
You wince and hug yourself, keeping your chin down as he matches your pace. Frigga reaches to flick a strand of Hela’s black hair as she gabs on about it. You chew your lip and crane to look over your shoulder. You don’t see Odin, he must’ve stuck behind to chat with the staff.
“Thirty-two,” you answer as you face straight.
“Mmm, not too old,” his hand brushes across your back, “you look much younger.”
“Thank you, uh,” you stutter as his touch ventures further, tickling the top of your ass. Your panic swells and you bat him away, “I… have to go.”
You don’t know how to make him stop, but you can control yourself. You rush ahead to catch up to Frigga. As you come up at her side, Thor’s low rocky chuckle rolls through the air. You don’t look back as your blood runs cold. You don’t know why he won’t leave you alone.
“Ah, dear, I think we could put some flowers in your hair,” Frigga remarks as she waves you ahead of her up the stairs, “to go with that pretty dress of yours.”
“Sure,” you agree.
“She’ll look like a bride,” Hela scoffs, “perhaps just some diamonds around her neck–”
“Pearls,” Frigga argues.
“Pearls? She’s not an old lady yet,”
“Eh? Pearls are nice,” Frigga counters.
“Perhaps for you,” Hela rebuffs, “babe,” Hela swoops around her mother and drapes her arm over your shoulders as you turn down the hall, “what do you prefer?”
You blink, finding it hard to breathe through the tension. You don’t dare pick a side.
“I like the dress on its own,” you say.
“Ah, yes, she’s right, it is so nice, it would be ruined with too much,” Frigga hums, “how about just the petals,” she reaches to touch your hair, “a small accent but not garish.”
“Mm, yes, like a little fairy,” Hela muses as she retracts her arm, “I’m afraid I’m going for more of a witchy vibe.”
“Oh dear,” Frigga mutters, “Hel.”
“A good witch, mother, never fear.”
You look in the mirror, swept away by your own reflection. The small white flowers in your hair are placed so delicately and just so, matching with those on the dress in their fluttery display. You skin seems to glow from the precise application of makeup, your lashes are long and curved but not too heavy. Your lips are painted a natural hue with a glossy finish and a touch of blush lends colour to your cheeks. It feels like a lot but looks like less.
The dress is just as wonderful as you remember. The outer layer decorated in carefully cut flowers over the simple dress of white beneath. The skirt flows to your lower calves, ending just above the straps of your heels, a bow on the back of each. You blink and tilt your head at your reflection, is it really you looking back?
“Absolutely gorgeous,” Hela growls as she steps up behind you, “uh, so darling.”
“You look amazing, dear,” Frigga calls over.
You turn to watch the older woman pin on large dangling earrings. She wears a white dress hemmed below her knees with large fanned bell sleeves. Her necklace is strung with pearls that get large towards the centre and her silver and gold hair is spun into loose waves pushed back behind an elaborate headband with golden points.
Hela is dressed much less elegantly. Her jumpsuit is taut to her figure, the neckline cute so deep you wonder how it stays up. She wears a sort of cowl, sparkling with diamond as it goes from chin to shoulders, a larger gem dangling down her cleavage.
“Well, I think we’re almost there,” Frigga announces breezily, “come, come.”
She ushers you and Hela from the room into the hall. The house is buzzing with activity. As you come downstairs, you’re lost amid the flurry. The kitchen is bustling with furor and workers flit around like bees in a hive. You stay close to the other women as they walk unfettered through the rush.
You come out to the veranda, clutching the sides of your skirt as you watch your feet, careful not to trip on your heels. In the sunlight, Frigga sighs, and calls to someone. You look up and follow her down the steps.
The lush green flat of the yard is entirely changed. A white floral arch, white cloth draping over the roofs of newly erected tents, tables in similarly silky ivory, petals scattered all around as stems are capped with full blooms atop posts, in plinthed vases, and around tables. A stage stands, blocking out much of the garden, a bar along an edge of the expanse with several workers behind it arranging glasses and bottles.
“Yvonne,” Frigga trills again, “come, come, we should like some photos.”
A woman in a white suit approaches with a large camera in hand. She is tall with full hips emphasized by the cut of her clothing. Her strawberry blond hair is twisted into a high bun with two pin straight pieces framing her face.
“Hello, Von,” Hela purrs at her familiarly. The women glance at each other and an eyebrow twitches. They know each other. Everyone does but you.
“This is our photographer,” Frigga introduces you to Yvonne, “she’ll be taking pictures so don’t mind if you see a flash or two through the night.” She turns back to the strawberry blonde, “hm, where are the men? They must be here…”
You fold your hands and sway back and forth. Surely you won’t be included. This is for the family. You’ll just stand to the side.
“Ah, Odin!” Frigga throws her hands up, greeting her husband as he approaches in a white pressed shirt beneath a matching stiff vest and white slacks. He wears a golden chain around his collar and cufflinks at his wrists. His shoes also bear golden buckles. “There you are. Where are your sons?”
“So quick to disown them,” Odin kids, “they were…” he looks back.
Thor clamours down from the veranda, combing out his long blond hair which he’s let loose from its usual bun. The waves fall to his shoulders, just along his open collar, unbuttoned to boast the thick muscles of his chest. He beams in white just like everyone else. A gold medallion hangs from his neck and his fingers are stacked with rings.
Loki follows last, shoulders high, hands staunchly tucked into his pockets. He looks at the sky as he appears in his simple attire. White shirt, white tie, white slacks cute perfectly to his sleek figure. White loafers with plain silver buckles. His black hair is swept back, the front pieces drawn back into a clip behind his head as the tails curl out behind his ears.
As he takes the same path as his father and brother, his eyes search and find you. His irises flicker and his brows arch. You avert your gaze and look at the grass, fidgeting as you wait awkwardly to the side. Frigga preens at each son and tells them how handsome they look.
“Alright, alright, we’ll get a few photos before the guests arrive,” she claps her hands.
There’s movement along the edge of your vision. You keep your head down as Frigga orders her family around. You flinch as she grabs your wrist suddenly and pulls your hands apart.
“Right here, dear,” she guides you next to Odin before she stands at his other side. “Okay, everyone, no scowling.”
You look up, wide eyed and the camera flashes. You bat your lashes and put on a smile as Odin bends his arm behind you, resting his hand on your lower back. The gesture calms you as the photographer counts down.
You stand frozen as the camera shutters, wondering why you’re there. What will they do with the photos when you are irrelevant? Finally, you’re allowed to disperse as Frigga struts over to Yvonne to have a look at the photos.
You turn nearly collide with Mr. Laufeyson before you can even think to look for him. You back up as he stares at you. He raises a hand as if to touch your arm then thinks better of it. He clear his throat and tugs on his skinny tie.
“That is a beautiful dress,” he remarks, “very on theme.”
“Thank you, Mr. Laufeyson,” you sniff and rub your palms together.
“Stay close,” he says tersely, clearing his throat, “or…” you hear his tone soften, “I might lose you in the flowers.”
His lips curve, just a little. Is he joking? You’re not sure.
“Come,” he jabs his fingers through the air, “let us get a drink before it is too busy.”
“Yes, Mr. Laufeyson.”
You walk beside him and he sighs. No, you’re not sure he was being funny. He’s still unhappy.
As you reach the bar, he greets the workers in white behind it. He orders whiskey on ice, then turns to you. For a moment, you’re taken back to the night you found him with the same drink… that was the first, maybe the only time, you saw him so human.
“What would you like?” He asks.
“Um, I don’t… know,” you murmur.
“Our cocktails,” a worker points to the standing list of drinks. You lean in and read each.
“Oh, uh, could I get the lavender lemonade, please?”
“Yes, miss,” the worker replies and sets to mixing the drink. Laufeyson takes his and holds it tight.
“Lokiiiii,” a familiar brogue rumbles through the air.
You turn to face Bragi as he approaches. A pocket watch swings from his vest, though he wears no shirt beneath it. You greet him with a tight-lipped smile.
“And his lady,” he smirks at you, “you haven’t seen Fossegrim, have you?”
“You brought that creature?”
“Ah, he tagged along. He chased off a chickadee and I’ve not seen him since. Never to worry,” he snaps his fingers, "I'm all set up.” He nods towards the stage, “and look at you too, pretty in white.” He looks at you pointedly, “I must say, you look like a goddess. I was also let in on a secret,” he declares, “it is your birthday. Happy birthday, did you have a favourite song? I might fit it into my set.”
“Um…” you think. “I don’t…” you look over as Mr. Laufeyson reaches back to take another glass from the bar and offers you the purple drink. You take it with a meek nod before facing Bragi again, “there was this song… from a movie… Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She sings it on the balcony but I can’t remember how it goes.”
“Oh, yes, I know the one. Beloved Hepburn, what a treat she was,” he purrs, “I think I can figure out the chords.”
“You don’t have to…” you shrug.
“I want to,” he insists, “oh and watch for dark shadows, Fossegrim will surely return once he smells food.”
“Sure,” you agree and squeeze the glass tight. Laufeyson just hums in his throat.
“Anyhow, I need water,” he sidles past you, “happy Walpurgisnacht!”
You return the sentiment before you step away. You peer around, uncertain what to do next. Your heels sink into the grass and you pull them out, teetering. Laufeyson glances over at you.
“Shall we sit?” He asks.
“Erm, okay.”
He waves you ahead of him and you weave over to one of the tables. You sit and put your glass down without tasting it. He sips his own as he lowers himself. He’s tense, setting it down with a heavy clunk.
You look around and see new faces arriving. It’s beginning. Your stomach churns as each guest appears. It really is a big deal.
“You are nervous,” Laufeyson intones, bringing you back to the table.
“A little.”
“Mm,” he pokes his tongue in his cheek, “well, then, even more reason to stay by my side. I’ve navigated these waters all my life, I can stave off the sharks.”
“Yes, Mr. Laufeyson.”
His lips slant and he spreads his hand over his chest before dragging it down, “and…” his throat bobs, “happy birthday, if I forgot to say.”
“Um, thank you,” you squeak, “it isn’t a very big deal.”
He inhales, “it isn’t? By your choice or… his?”
You shrug, “I never made it one. Really, just another year.”
“Certainly, time does keep on now matter what,” he mulls.
You’re quiet. You take the drink and look at it. It’s a lovely colour. You take a sip; it’s tangy but nice, a little kick under the citrus notes. Your cheeks pinch as you put it back down.
“Too strong?” he asks.
“No, it’s good,” you assure him, careful not to drip any on your dress.
He taps his fingers on the tabletop, “I must say, you do look rather… rather nice.”
“Oh, yes, um, Trina, your mother’s friend…” you utter, “she did it.”
You look at him, finding his eyes rapt upon you. His gaze almost takes your breath away. He reaches to touch your hand, leaning in just a little. His eyes flick past you suddenly and he stops, his hand lightly over your as he sits frozen.
You turn to peek over your shoulder. You hear Thor’s thundering voice as he greets someone. A perfect swoop of dark hair bounces before him and he embraces the tall, slender woman. You know, even without seeing her face, who it is. Sif.
You bring your other hand over Laufeyson’s and press it down firmly as you face him, “are you alright?”
His eyes skitter back to you and he slips his hand free. You deflate as he instead takes his glass and slurps with a scowl. Walpurgisnacht will not be a new beginning, only a reminder of old wounds.

A/N: Request from anon. Fluffy skinny dipping with Loki. Tell me something better than that, I’ll wait. Enjoy, everyone!
Words: 2568 Warnings: skinny dipping, implied smut, fluff
The air in Asgard smelled different. Fresher. Richer. You took a deep breath, inhaling not only oxygen but also that foreign Asgardian vibe. Summer felt a hundred times more intense around here. The heat was on the verge of unbearable, the glistening water right outside the palace inviting you for a swim to cool down. The whole planet felt like an Instagram filter—like someone had turned up the contrast, the saturation and the brightness all at the same time.
“How do you cope in this heat?” you complained, fanning air to your face with your right hand. You were sat in the lower parts of the palace with Thor’s friends Volstagg, Hogun and Fandral and of course, Lady Sif.
Odin had commanded you remained under supervision at all times. You didn’t quite understand what the fuss was about—it wasn’t like a mere Midgardian could wreak havoc among this realm but then again, he was probably just traumatised from the time Thor brought an Aether-infected Jane to Asgard a few years back.
But the company wasn’t so bad, especially upon learning new things about Asgardian culture. One person was missing though. You’d hardly seen Loki since your arrival even though it had been him to promise to keep you safe.
Boom—it had been like a heartbeat, like an explosion and just like that, you had fallen in love with the God of Mischief. It had started with a crush. A purely physical attraction that made you see beyond the things he had done on Earth all those years ago. Then you had gotten to know him and witnessed his wit and sarcasm day in and out. Soon, you began to see past the cheekiness and mischief until you had discovered a vulnerable god who would die for the ones he loved, an intelligent and kind man who might not have been a superhero and leaned toward a little selfishness every now and then but a good man nonetheless.
Loki had never been evil and you were now determined to convince everyone else of that mind-set as well. Especially now that you had been brought to Asgard for your own safety.
“It’s not so bad down here. I feel sorry for Idunn and her workers. The apple orchard is a sauna at this time of the day but the work won’t do itself.”
“First of all… you have saunas on Asgard? And second of all, if this is a realm of magic, why is there any labour at all?”
Volstagg’s cheeks reddened as he fought to explain it to you. “Well, let’s just say Idunn’s apples are special. They require skilled hands to handle them.”
“Right…” With a court nod, you emptied the rest of your drink and carefully put it back on the table—like hell you would smash it to the ground and scream “Another” like Thor and his friends did.
“Where’s Loki, actually?” you asked, attempting to sound non-chalant.
“Who knows? Causing some mischief somewhere probably. I for my part am glad I don’t have to see his face.”
“He’s been nothing but kind to me so far, Volstagg.”
“Hmm…” Hogun began, “He’s like a flesh-eating plant. He lures you in and then traps you in his claws. Be careful. We have known Loki for a lot longer than you.”
“Maybe you guys should stop giving him reasons to stab you in the back. Think about that.” Checkmate. That shut them up for a good minute.
You sighed. Well, in the end, you’d likely have a lot more work to do for them to accept the cheeky God of Mischief for who he was and why he behaved the way he did, it seemed.
“If you say so… I’m gonna go find him.”
“You can’t wander through the palace alone.”
You chuckled. “Watch me. I know where Loki’s chambers are. And I promise to scream if I’m getting murdered.”
“You shouldn’t joke about things like that,” Hogun insisted.
“I’m trapped on a different planet surrounded by gods. If I don’t joke about it, I’m gonna lose my mind.”
“I am still going to escort you.”
You rolled your eyes. Always obey Odin. “Fine.” Hogun wasn’t very talkative, at least.
Tumblr media
It was a lot cooler in the palace—but then again, sacrificing a wonderful day that you could spend swimming and tanning and exploring to hide within some palace walls wasn’t all that appealing.
“Loki? Are you there?” Hogun was waiting around the corner with his hands clasped behind his back when you knocked.
Silence. You cleared your throat. “Loki, your hearing is a thousand times better than mine, I know you can hear me.”
A pleasant shiver ran down your spine when you heard a dark chuckle behind the door. A sliver of magic tore through the heavy wood of his door and it swung open, revealing him sitting in the shade on his bed with a book on his lap.
You blinked. He was dressed so casually. Bare feet, a green and soft-looking shirt with sleeves ending right below his elbows and wide black trousers reminding you of a comfy pyjama. Summing up, he looked hot.
“What are you doing here?” He was practically purring when he spoke your name, pulling a pleasant shiver from you. Something told you that Loki knew you were absolutely infatuated with him and boy, was he having fun with it. You sighed, letting it go for now. It was too hot to complain.
“I want to go swimming.”
“You want to go swimming?” Loki frowned at his book as if you’d suggested going rollerblading on the Bifrost bridge. Although… that actually sounded like a fun idea as well.
“Yes, Loki. It’s summer, it’s hot and I am melting. You’re a Frost Giant, how on Earth do you cope?”
“By staying inside where it’s cool, reading and most importantly, keeping my mouth shut.”
You grunted, closing the door behind you. “I’m gonna pretend like I was unable to take the hint to leave you alone. What are you reading?”
This time, it was Loki who sighed.
“Why don’t you ask Thor and his foolish friends? Are they giving you trouble?” he asked instead of responding to your question.
“No. Just… Because I want to spend time with you. And because they’re boring, obeying every single word the oh-so-allmighty-Odin says.” You threw your hands to demonstrate how ridiculous you found the whole situation.
Finally, Loki looked up from his book, a sly smirk tugging at his lips. “What makes you think that I won’t?”
“Please. You are the God of Mischief. And rules are made to be broken, right? You remember that pretty lagoon west of the Bifrost Bridge that you told me about? The one with the cave? I want to go there. Please, Loki. Pack your book and let’s go. If I’m on a different planet, at least I want to explore it a little.”
Loki considered you for a moment, almost as if he was trying to figure out whether you were just mocking him. Then, finally, he shut his book and elegantly stood from the bed. “Very well. Let’s go.”
His smile was genuine—it had to be. His book vanished into thin air the very moment his door swung open again.
“Quick. Before Hogun realises we are not really headed to the kitchens for a cool drink.”
Loki escorted you through one of the servants’ exits to avoid the guards and more importantly, Thor and his friends. The earthy path was steep as you followed him down further and further away from the palace until you reached the shore and the ground to your feet turned into warm sand.
A small boat was swaying in the water, tied to a rock in the sand with a thick rope. Loki, however, did not make a move toward it. Instead, he offered you his hand. Intrigued, you took it. Next thing you know, he transformed into an eagle, his talons gripping your hand tightly.
You cheered when you took off and he flew across the water towards the lagoon, your naked toes grazing the cool ocean water in the process. The landing, a few minutes later, was smooth and then, just like that, Loki’s eagle aspect disappeared again.
“That was incredible! Can you turn me into an eagle as well?”
“Potentially. It takes years to master transfiguration like this. Your body would have to adjust to the new form and you would have to learn how to fly. If I transformed you now, you would quite possibly drown.”
“Right.” You turned around, taking in your new surroundings. The lagoon was stunning. It looked like the inside of a volcano, a hollowed-out rock with a pond with the clearest sea water you had ever seen in the middle. Vines, trees, and flowers all grew around it, spreading a lovely scent, and the small cave at the opposite end looked like the perfect spot for camping. The waterfall was by far the best part of it all though. It was gushing and loud, drowning out all noise from the outside and reverberating within the lagoon.
“This is beautiful. How come no one ever comes here?”
“Well… Asgardians are not too keen on swimming. Most of them never even learn it unless they’re training to fight battles. It is considered impure and in some cases, disrespectful to swim in open waters.”
Loki waved his hand, letting a dark green picnic blanket appear in the sand that mixed with green grass where you stood. Along with it, he conjured up a golden plate full of grapes, apple slices, strawberries and other fruit you didn’t recognise. He sat down on it with his book in hand.
It was then you realised you didn’t actually have any swimwear.
“What? Why is that?”
“Ah, well, you see, according to our lore, the giant Ymir was slain so the worlds could be built. His brains became the clouds, his bones became the mountains and his blood became the oceans.”
“Are you trying to tell me I’m about to swim in someone’s blood?”
Loki chuckled. “Something like that.”
You suppressed a grin. Should you? It was only the two of you here after all. And what sent a clearer signal for “I like you, I’m attracted to you and I want to have sex with you” than skinny dipping? You shrugged your shoulders. You were on a different planet. Things couldn’t exactly get any crazier from here.
You pulled off your shirt and then peeled yourself out of your shorts. Your bra came off first after that. With your back turned to Loki, you could still practically feel his blue eyes boring into you. By the time you stepped out of your knickers and revealed your arse to him, he sucked in air so loudly you could even hear it over the waterfall.
Unceremoniously and gathering all of your swimming training from your school days, you dived head-first into the clear water as gracefully as you could muster. The water was divine. It was cool and salty enough for you to float without too much effort and the little fish you saw swimming past you didn’t even seem to be scared of you. You’d have to ask Loki for some fish food for them.
“I could have conjured you some swimwear, you know.” His blue eyes were glued to you. You grinned, swimming in his direction. The clear water did very little to conceal you and it was even clearer that the God of Mischief was having a hard time not to look down.
“And where would have been the fun in that? What are you doing, come in! It’s lovely! I dare you,” you added. “Oh no, whatever will all those fancy royals at the palace say if they find out one of their princes is skinny dipping with a peasant?” Dramatically, you brought the back of your hand to your forehead and then disappeared underwater for a moment.
When you emerged, Loki was standing and taking off his clothes. Yes.
“Last time I caused an uproar, I was in the middle of a feeble attempt at taking over Midgard. They’ll be relieved to hear I have resorted to less scandalous activities.”
Seeing Loki shirtless was quite possibly the highlight of your entire day. But he didn’t give you much time to drool over his muscly pale chest and those strong arms. He wasn’t wearing any underwear. When those comfy trousers came off, he was naked and damn, was he glorious even in a flaccid state. You didn’t even bother pretending not to stare.
Loki smirked and then, much more gracefully than you, dived into the pond. He looked downright gorgeous with wet hair when he emerged only a few inches away from you, so much so that you almost forgot to keep yourself afloat.
“Cat got your tongue? You aren’t going to back out now, are you?”
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Loki.” For a split second, playing Marco Polo with him crossed your mind but now that you had him naked in the clear water, you could think of more… adult activities.
“Can I ask you something?” You just needed some confirmation first. He’d promised to keep you safe but did that mean he reciprocated your feelings? Not necessarily, right?
Loki raised his eyebrows at you—in a gentle, teasing manner this time.
“Why did you agree to come here with me? I mean… the others… they’d never let me be alone with you. If they knew, they’d drag me out by the hair. Or you, whoever they manage to grab first. I guess… after everything that happened between you and the entire planet Earth, I didn’t think you’d want anything to do with a human beyond a genuine promise to make up for the past.”
Loki’s face fell.
“What? Did I say something wrong?”
He shook his head. “You did not. Let’s just say I forgot for a moment that you are mortal.”
Oh. “Is that bad?”
“I will have outlived you in a matter of decades. So yes. That is bad, pet.” Pet. You sincerely hoped he wasn’t able to hear the moan that escaped your lips. “I am not a villain. And it took a lot of convincing to make me realise that. So why would I not? I have no reason to meet you with hostility if you don’t either.”
You smiled at him. “That’s what I told them today, you know? That you wouldn’t have betrayed them if they hadn’t given you a reason to do so. And… That just means we’ve gotta make use of the time that we have even more, no?”
With that, you took the leap. You leaned forward, clung to him like a monkey and wrapped your arms around his neck. Your naked skin against his felt heavenly, even more so underwater. You kissed him as if your life depended on it, teeth clashing, tongues battling… your entire being lost itself in Loki, how good he tasted and how skilled of a kisser he was.
When you broke apart, you were both out of breath and a little surprised by what had just happened. Your eyes fell on his swollen lips.
“Admit it,” you whispered.
“What?”
“Admit it. You like me.”
Loki chuckled. “I wouldn’t put up with you if I didn’t, pet.”

I feel like you've done this before but can we get lazy human reader who is insanely powerful.
Reader is known to be napping even in the oddest places once she was found napping on too of Cerberus stomach while the hell hound napped away as well. She has a habit of pulling people who have a bed like vine into a hug and not letting go for ages.
Though she volunteer to fight much to bruhilda worry She grumbles as she walks into the arena saying she would rather be sleeping. The god that mocks her for her attitude is quickly slammed into the wall shocking everyone even odin by readers strength Reader just turns back to human entrance and coolly says " you gods havent been worth the energy to wake up for in years what made you think I would be bright eyed for cowards like you.
Reader is later revealed to be once a warrior for zeus that was highly skilled and respected even by the prideful god but reader has gone through many recantations so he was unable to recognize her.
-You gait was a little wobbly as you walked into the arena, as you had just woken up from your nap, third of the day and it was only noon.
-Many were confused as you walked to the middle of the arena where your opponent was waiting for you, you didn’t look like a warrior, not in the slightest.
-You covered your mouth as you yawned deeply as Heimdall announced the start of the match, stretching your other arm up, “I’m sleepy~”
-Cue a collective, arena wide face palm as everyone yelled at you that you had just woken up from a nap. You looked confused as Heimdall scolded you, “You were found sleeping on top of Cerberus- again, not ten minutes ago! How can you still be sleepy?!”
-You just shrugged as your opponent’s eyelids were twitching, “You brat! This tournament is for the fate of you damned humans- show us some respect or else-”
-You easily charged and swung out with a roundhouse kick, sending him flying back and into the arena wall, creating a crater before he fell to his knees then to his face, unconscious.
-Jaws dropped all around before eyes went to you as you flicked your hair back over your shoulder, “Why would I be bright eyed for you gods? You all haven’t been worthy my energy for years!”
-Eyes went wide before Zeus shouted down, “Y/N- your name is Y/N right?” you nodded, twirling a piece of your hair around your finger, “That’s me~~” his eyes went wide, “Holy- I didn’t even realize it was you!!”
-Everyone was quickly yelling out in shock as you were revealed to be the reincarnation of one of Zeus’ most powerful warriors, also named Y/N, who died years ago and was reincarnated multiple times over.
-There was nothing left of that powerful aura of the long forgotten god, as you were now a human, but your strength was proof that it was indeed you.
-You wandered backstage, so you could take a victory nap before your mid-afternoon nap, finding a large couch, one you could spread out comfortably on.
-(Love) came to find you, wanting to ask you questions about your power, only to find you already fast asleep. He couldn’t help but chuckle, coming closer and Brunnhilde, who was passing, “You don’t want to get to close to her while she’s sleeping.” He turned, confused by her words, “What? Why?”
-Your arms shot up like striking snakes, wrapping around his neck and you instantly pulled him on top of you before flipping the both of you over, so you were laying on top of him, hugging him close, still fast asleep.
-Brunnhilde sighed softly, “I tried to warn you- good luck~” He panicked, whispering after her, “Wait! Don’t leave me here!” you sighed softly, snuggling down into him and he paused before he went limp and quiet, not willing to disturb you.
-You were very warm and soothing, despite just sleeping, you felt relaxing, so he let himself relax, dozing off as he was being held hostage in something he would later dub your ‘nap attack’.

Sudden Disappearance
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Kratos/Odin/Heimdall/Thor/Baldur x Female Reader (Romantic) (Separate)
SUMMARY: Their wife, (Y/N), is kidnapped. One day, she returns after victoriously defeating her captor.
Kratos goes into a panic when he can’t find you. He feels so many emotions all at once. He can’t focus on anything now that you’re missing.
A part of him wonders if you left him, but he tries not to focus on it; he knows you and doesn’t want to think negatively of you.
He’ll travel through every realm to find you, asking others of your whereabouts. Any leads towards a missing woman were all met with a dead end.
When you return Kratos embraces you tightly. After hearing about your experience he urges you to train more with him. Just in case this happens again, but your kidnapper happens to be stronger.
Tumblr media
At first Odin thinks you’re just out exploring for some days. Days turn into weeks and when he can’t see you from the eyes of his ravens he begins to panic.
If Baldur is still alive then he’ll send him out to find you. Otherwise Odin will look for you himself, which is fairly quick considering his powers. Heimdall would tell him to reconsider going for you himself, saying it could be a trap to lure him in.
Odin would refute that, saying “She’s my wife. If I don’t go to look for her myself then who will? Baldur’s dead and I need you here in Asgard! Thor is useless in situations like this!”
When you return Odin demands to know what happened to you, and places a punishment worse than death on the culprit. He later creates a raven similar to Huginn and Muninn specifically for keeping an eye on you.
Tumblr media
Heimdall knows you, and so once he suspects you’ve been abducted, he sticks to it. Never faltering to think that you left him. He is furious at the abductor and himself; he should have seen it coming, and yet he didn’t.
Will tell Odin of what has happened and that he wishes to look for you himself, however he is denied so as the Watchmen of the Aesir. Nobody likes him, and by being his wife, you, so he can’t convince anyone to look for you.
Heimdall will sneak out of Asgard and search for you against Odin’s command. He may love Asgard, but he loves you even more.
You’ll meet up halfway with Heimdall if he follows the right tracks to find you, which he likely will. If your captor isn’t already dead, then Heimdall will make sure he is.
Tumblr media
Thor becomes paranoid when you don’t come back by night. He can’t sleep, and his thoughts start to wander. He worries that he might’ve done something wrong, he thinks you left him. He may even relapse into drinking.
Thrúd will comfort and knock some sense into her father, which sets him on the path for finding you. He does still worry that you may be dead, or left him for someone better.
Thor knows he’s hasn’t always been the best husband to you. But, you’re his wife. You’ve been married to this man for years and he’s not about to give up on you over paranoia.
When you return to Asgard Thor will hug you so tight your back may crack. He’s incredibly proud of you for defending yourself, but he will definitely become more protective of you. You’ll probably also start training with Thrúd.
Tumblr media
Baldur is enraged by your kidnapping, but he’s confident that he will find you. Baldur also knows of your fighting capabilities, so he’s not too worried about your predicament.
He will find you. Just as you’re leaving from your kidnapper’s hideout Baldur lands before you with his dragon.
When both of you return home, Baldur makes it clear that nobody tries to harm his wife. He will personally antagonize anyone that even looks at you wrongly afterwards, secretly fearing the worst.

After you were thrown from Olympus and forbidden to even be near your love, it stormed for two weeks straight. With every day of the storm, more houses were destroyed, more people hurt, with no sign of an end. The people trekked to Poseidon’s temples every day with offerings, they prayed until their voices were hoarse, but the rain didn’t cease. The people believed he had given up on them, that they had done something to anger him. They didn’t know the utter heartbreak that coursed with the ichor in his veins. They didn’t know that this was the true despair of a god, that it could destroy them all.
You had been taken back to Asgard and cared for like you were newly-made, the Aesir tip-toeing around you and hoping not to set off any catastrophes. You had become numb since you had been brought home, moving around the halls of Valhalla like a lost spirit. Odin and Frigg tried so hard to bring you back, to do something that would return you to yourself, but it was all in vain. The only thing that you could possibly want was him.
Every day you walked the fjords, standing right on the edge of a cliff, the breeze pressing on your back, hoping to push you off. You had roamed every inch of the fjords, combed every cliffedge. You waited for Pegasus to find you, to whisk you away to your love, but the winged stallion never came. You hoped for a sign, any sign that both of you weren’t lost to each other, but nothing came.
And then, when you were beginning to lose all hope, you looked down over the edge of the cliff, straight down and into the swirling waters that frothed and smashed against the sharp rocks. There was no pegasus, but a huge clump of seaweed. You had never seen the seaweed come up near the fjords before in your whole existence, not this much anyway. It was always deep under the water, or only a few specks of it floated up and washed ashore. But there was so much of it floating near the edge that it created an island on the water.
Your heart stopped in your chest as you watched it float to the cliff wall and bump against it. Again and again it floated into the cliff, as if waiting for something before it would allow itself to disperse. You clenched your hands together, breath suddenly shallow, then took a run and jumped off the cliff.
The water was icy, and your skin began to tingle as the bubbles floated up around you and to the surface. You waited until they had all disappeared then allowed yourself to push to the surface as well, treading water and staring up at the sky for a moment. It had been so long since you had gone swimming, since you had enjoyed the sea as you once had, and it felt immeasurably good to be immersed in it once more. You smiled, wider and brighter than you had ever done since being back from Olympus. You allowed yourself to drop into the water again and again, ceasing the swirling of your arms and legs to just float in it. It felt like a hug from Poseidon. Then you swam over to the island of kelp and began sifting through it.
Carefully pulling each piece away and gathering it into your other hand. If it truly was a message from him you wouldn’t let any of it go to waste. It was slippery and a little slimy but you just held on tighter as you straightened out each piece and lay it in your other hand. Right in the centre of the bundle, you found five oyster shells. They were placed in a perfectly straight row in the perfect centre of the kelp and they were… perfect. You had never seen an oyster like that, perfectly black on the outside like a mussel but still rippled so you knew it was an oyster. You reached out and gently picked one up. Your hands shook and tears filled your eyes until the oyster became blurry. You wiped at them haphazardly, blinking until you could see again and the tears had mixed into the seawater.
The oyster was just barely open, a thin crack that you tried to peek through, but you couldn’t see anything inside. You dug your nails into the opening and used whatever godly strength you possess to pry it open just enough without breaking it fully. It was a rather delicate task and you had to stop a few times for fear of cracking the shell, but when you got it open you found a beautiful pearl sitting in the centre. It wasn’t perfectly round (as you found that natural pearls rarely were) and was actually rather flat with its edges poking out here and there so it looked like a splash of water in pearl form. You picked it out of the shell, the oyster within not giving any resistance, and you held it in your palm. It seemed smooth, and glinted different colours in the grey light. You flipped it over, and you found that there were little scratches on the pearl. They were much too small for you to decipher at first, but as you brought it closer to your eye and realised that it was writing, your heart began to thunder. ‘To have and to hold’ was all it said. You stared at it, heart in your throat, and gently placed it back in the oyster, shutting it and resting it on its bed. The next was the same, except this pearl was smoother around the edges, almost like a flat oval. ‘For better or worse’ it said in the same small writing. The one after it was almost perfectly round but also flat and thin like a drachma. ‘For richer or for poorer’. The next pearl was sharp, its edges jagged and spiking out. ‘Until death do us part’. You caressed it, allowing the sharpest edge to cut into your skin and the bead of blood to stain the pearl. You whispered each word aloud as you opened the pearls, hoping that since you were in the water that he could hear it, that he would know. The final pearl was a perfect sphere and as large as the first segment of your pinky finger. The writing was inscribed around it, and you spun it over and over, reading the words until they were screaming inside your head, until you couldn’t read them anymore because your eyes were streaming with tears and you were sobbing so heavily that water splashed up and into your mouth. ‘I love you’ it read, inscribed over and over around the pearl so that it looked like it was scratched all over.
You floated there for a moment, staring at the vows, at the pearls, then let yourself sink under the water, eyes closed. You screamed the words into the water, bubbles floating around your face, voice garbled, but you screamed until you had no air left and even your body began to tire. You wanted him to hear you, needed him to know. Then you surfaced, breathing heavily and feeling lighter than you had before coming to the cliffs. You looked at each pearl again, caressed them, then gently placed them back into their shells. You wrapped the shells up in the seaweed, creating a tight parcel and tying it up with the seaweed you had stripped away before. You stayed in the water a while longer, feeling the caress of it on your skin, pretending it was his arms wrapping around you, his fingers running up and down your arms. Then, when it became close to the time of the nightly feast and knowing the others would begin to worry if you did not show up, you grabbed the parcel and made your way back to your new home, a small house built at the bottom of the hills that led to the cliff edges.
It was more of a hut, built in the viking style and furnished sparsely. You had lost all your taste for glamour in the last weeks, lost the feeling of being a goddess, and had conjured this place, quiet and secluded and right by the cliffs you had once enjoyed. You left the pile of seaweed in the hall of the house by the entrance, thinking of ways to decorate your house with it. You placed the shells in order on a shelf just above your bed. You didn’t want the pearls themselves to be exposed, just in case someone came snooping. You looked at them longingly and kissed each shell before making the journey back to Valhalla. You had to find a way to send a message in return. You had to.
Tumblr media
Poseidon sat on the beach he had once brought you to. He stared out at the water’s edge, watching a happy couple walk along it, a woman in a beautiful dress kicking up splashes of water and the man staring down at her with such devotion in his eyes. He watched them press close to each other, walk further into the water, let it roll over them. He watched them kiss, felt it on his own lips, then a wave crashed over the shadows and they disappeared into seafoam and the sparkle of sunlight on the water.
Poseidon pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes, sighing heavily and shaking his head as he muttered angrily to himself. Though he had been forced to stop the storms lest he flood all of Greece, the one in his head never ceased. You were his every thought, consuming him from the inside. He had gone to the lake on Olympus everyday for the week he had been forced to stay there after your banishment. Zeus has wanted all the gods together to feast and be merry for the return of his bolt. Poseidon had not spoken a word the entire time, glaring at his brother with such fire that even Hephaestus could not conjure a flame with such heat. The rest of the time was either spent watching Hermes, trying to figure out if all of this was really his doing, or making the trek to the lake to sit on one of the boulders, feet dipped into the water, and reminiscing on the time he had with you.
Even since had returned to his domain, nothing felt right. The usually comforting embrace of the water now felt hollow. The feeling of the sand under his feet did not mean anything now that he couldn’t share it with you. He no longer felt like the god of the seas, just a god of… nothing. Everywhere he looked he saw something that reminded him of you. He could not escape your memory even if he were trying. Even now, sitting on the beach where you had first kissed, he could only hope you had received his pearls, his vows of marriage.
A butterfly, blue and shiny, fluttered into view. He watched it flap its wings and fly in little twirls, as if looking for something. Then it began to flutter closer, circling its way to him.  He watched the little creature with a sad smile, wishing you were here to see it. He knew you would love it. But the butterfly kept coming closer, flittering and fluttering until it sat itself on the tip of his nose. His eyes crossed as he tried to stare at it, eyebrows knitting in a frown, as the insect flapped its wings once, twice, then laid them out flat and stopped moving entirely. Without the strength of its little legs gripping to his nose, the butterfly fell away and into his lap, laying on his thigh as still and dead as he felt. His frown deepened, staring at the creature with its legs poking up into the air and wings perfectly flat.
The structure and pattern suggested it was a monarch butterfly, but they didn’t come in blue. It was old, at least for its species, around 6 weeks if he were to guess, right at the end of its life. With the gentlest movements, he dug his fingertips under the wings of the dead butterfly and lifted it closer to his eyes. He flipped it over and examined the backs of its wings, the beautiful blue that somehow shined even brighter now that it was dead. He stared at the black lines that swirled over the wings, creating little pockets of blue and edged with dots of white. It was in the black lines that he found writing, in the smallest letters possible. Where the lines swirled and made pockets, letters followed them. And there, on the wings of this butterfly that seemed to randomly appear on this beach and randomly choose to land on him, he found his wedding vows. Each one he had sent, returned in the beautiful writing of a goddess. And right at the bottom, in the biggest letters, ‘I love you’. He could almost hear your voice, a whisper in the wind, and he closed his eyes lest the tears fall.
Tumblr media
Years passed without a word from neither him nor you. You had settled into your life with the Aesir again, comforted by the pearls that sat above your bed. You opened the shells every night and gazed at them, whispering the words and hoping that somewhere in the sea he felt your love. He too returned to his palace underwater, the butterfly encased in clear ice to be frozen as long as he lived, a reminder that you had said yes, that you had married him. Both of you felt safer knowing he was yours and you were his. It was not a traditional wedding by any means, but it was yours, and you would cherish it until the end of your days.
After the first three decades of peace and no sign of anyone knowing that you had sent messages to each other, you sent one more, another butterfly with a simple reminder that you loved him. In return you received a conch shell, not too large but still a hefty weight in your palm. When you lifted it to your ear, in the whisper of the ocean you could hear his voice, telling you he loved you. Every night you put it to your ear and let it lull you to sleep.
So many years passed in this way, changes coming and going, empires rising and falling. Suddenly the modem age arrived, bringing its technology and skyscrapers and all of you gods into each other’s vicinity once more. Now the Greek gods were huddled in New York, living lavishly atop the Empire State building while the halls of the Aesir occupied Boston, hiding in plain sight. The battles continued, the monsters still roared, but things had become slow, the gods became lazy. While you kept your cabin in the fjords, your connection to Poseidon and your homeland, you were forced to spend much of your time in Boston to keep yourself alive, to keep your facade with the other gods.
The clashes between the worlds of the Greek and the Norse became more frequent, though all the gods kept their promise of staying away from each other. It was not until the battle of the Draugur that this promise was broken. That after millennia you were face to face with your love once more…
Tumblr media
A/N: I chose things from the sea as his messaging system because obvi he’s the god of the sea. But I chose butterflies for Y/n because I see her character in so many ways that I feel the butterfly embodies. I was thinking of the butterfly effect (a butterfly flaps its wings in one place and a storm starts in another) and that’s literally Y/n because she’s this small thing who’s seen as gentle and underestimated but she causes all these big things simply by existing. And then butterflies are seen as small and gentle and colourful but there’s literally a species of butterfly that drinks the tears of turtles and that felt so accurate to her character because she’s seen as small and pretty and colourful (and she is) but she can also be vicious and violent for survival. Anyway, thank you for coming to my ted talk.

You hum as you organize your desk, taking up papers in your hands and sliding them under the metal holder of your clipboard with a clack of material. The medical ward was slow today, and while that was a good thing, it left you with little to do besides paperwork and re-cleaning your space.
Glancing over your own handwriting as you carefully place the clipboard back down on your desk, you sigh and stretch your arms above your head. You listen to your bones crack before dropping them, eyes sliding around until they finally land on the picture, which sits on the tabletop like a silent reminder.
It’s been about five years since ODIN struck, since the world shifted and broke, but you still find it in yourself to look back on the past with fondness. The images of your troupe, all dressed up in flowy finery and posing in your pointe shoes, were a deep comfort to you.
Most of them were dead you knew, yet in that image, they still lived and breathed—had the sway of their feet and the grace of their arms to display to an awaiting crowd. Their smiles had never faded. As you stare at that picture, bodies trapped in time, you hear the stomp of booted feet coming in from your open door; ears perking and attention zapped away.
The soft smile on your lips disappears, a sheen of professionalism coming back like a curtain over a stage. You blink and latch onto the shadow of a man who limps slowly into the view of the opening. He’s about to pass by, a large grimace on his stubbled face, before you call to him.
“Sir?” Your feet take you out from the desk, quickly skirting around the chair before you’re about three feet from the tall individual. “Are you alright?”
The man is in his late twenties, burly and strong with wide shoulders and the tapered waist of an athletic build. He’s wearing recon gear atop a gray jacket, staps and guards interlocked like the fingers of lovers while he struggles to properly place his left foot on the floor.
Wisps of brown hair stick out from under a black beanie. It looks like he’d stopped at the armory first, coming here after dropping off his weapons.
The stranger’s green eyes blink at you, the tightness of hidden pain stuck in the lines near his pulled lips. His strong jaw works, pulling a nonchalant smile that looks more like a poorly done wince.
“Hey,” he clears his throat and has his hands clenched at his side. “Sorry about barging in, there any nurses available right now?”
“You’re looking at one,” you tilt your head to motion inside of your room, hand coming up to rest on the wooden frame of the door. “Do you need help walking?”
“Nah,” a wiry chuckle, gloved hand waving in dismissal. “I got here alright, I think a few more steps won't—”
His limp foot catches on his good one as he turns, and with a panicked widening of his gaze, the brunette stumbles as a sharp noise of alarm echoes. Your eyes widen. Before he can slam his face into the ground and create more problems, you dash forward and loop your arms around his waist, his gear digging into your scrubs. You grunt and take the full weight of him for a moment before the injured man snaps out a hand to the doorframe and quickly struggles back to his feet.
You stare and watch his cheeks go red, his eyes darting away with an embarrassed chuckle.
“Ah…sorry about that, Sweetheart.” You huff and cross your arms.
“Quite the show for ‘I think I’ll be just fine.’” A flash of a smirk goes across his square jaw.
“Well, maybe your beauty just made me lightheaded.” At your unimpressed stare, he shakes his head and questions, “That bad?”
“Very,” you joke, smiling and rolling your eyes. “C’mon, let’s get you looked at before you end up breaking your nose, Soldier.”
“Sounds like a plan, Ma’am.” You hook an arm around his waist and let him lean on you, his limb resting along the span of your shoulders and his injured leg weakly trying to help you along. Halfway to the examination table, he grunts out, “Name’s Hesh by the way—don’t think we’ve met before.”
You smile and say your name. “Transferred in from Dallas two weeks ago. Was told you needed more nurses here after a Federation attack near the Wall.”
“Then you were told correct, thanks for stepping up.” He’s set down with a huff and a grimace, his eyes swimming with annoyance at his leg. “Damn thing.”
You turn and wash your hands in the sink, slipping on sterile gloves as Hesh undoes his laces.
“Sorry for droppin’ in like this, I tried to play it off but I think it’s broken.” You look over your shoulder and tense—the pale skin of his ankle was a deep black and blue, and the foot was somewhat twisted to the side.
“Well, shit,” you curse and Hesh blinks up at you sheepishly, sending a stiff smile. “It’s good you came by when you did. What happened?”
The man’s hand goes to run over the back of his neck. He seems highly embarrassed about something.
“Ah, well,” he plays off a small twitch of his lips, “Riley, my K-9, he, uh…he managed to dart after a hostile before I could see him. Shoved me right to my ass and down a ravine in the process, actually.”
You have to put your wrist to your mouth to stifle a giggle, kneeling down to gently grab onto the affected limb.
Hesh takes in a tiny breath as you gently move the appendage, grumbling through a strained smile. “That funny, Doll?”
“Well,” you easily detail, “all I’ll say is that I’m sure it was something to see firsthand.”
“Tell that to Logan, my brother wouldn’t shut his mouth about it all while draggin’ me back. You try listenin’ to him while you’re half passed out—that was even worse than the pain.” You hum, chuckling.
This Hesh character was quite the casual talker, conversation with him came easily. You touch the skin of his ankle and quietly apologize when he hisses, noticing the swelling of flesh and sighing. Moving it from side to side and asking him if he’d broken his ankle before.
He answered in an affirmative—playing football in high school.
“Sorry to say this, but you’re right, Hesh, definitely broken. I don’t need to see an X-ray to know that.” He groans lowly. “Let’s get this all sorted and get you out of here, hm?”
There’s a long sigh.
“...Yes, Ma’am.”
Over the course of hours, you take various X-rays and scans, looking for the point of most contention and finding it in the form of a break in the lower tibia; it was clean, luckily for him. No bone shards or anything of that sort.
“I’m beggin’ to know if I need surgery, Sweetheart.” Green eyes lock with yours as you push him back into your office, the wheelchair squeaking under him. You smile gently at a few other nurses who pass—they nod back with a teasing smile at the man below you. “I’m on the edge of my seat, here.”
“I’m not the doctor, Hesh,” you chuckle, tilting your head. “I legally can’t tell you that.”
“Legally?” His brow raises. “C’mon, the world fell apart—there’s no Risk Management anymore.”
“Are you sure Riley didn’t intentionally push you over the edge of that ravine?” Your eyes narrow, a joke in your eye.
A slow smile grows on Hesh’s lips. “That hurt, Ma’am.”
You scoff and shake your head, wheeling him into the previous room and leaving him to go to the paperwork on your desk. Grabbing it, you open your top drawer and deposit it away for another time. Gliding up beside you, Hesh sighs and glances around as you tidy up.
His eyes find the framed picture on your desk.
“Whoa,” the brunette utters, locking onto your form in the middle of the group. You blink and look to the side, noticing his staring. Face going hot, you raise a brow in question. “That you?”
Hesh wheels slightly closer, leaning forward but respectfully not touching any of your things. You restrain a wide smile at his intrigue.
“Why else would I have a framed picture of ballerinas on my desk, Hesh? Of course, it’s me.” You pick up the frame and tilt it his way, resting your hip on the side of your desk as he takes it gently, delicate with your belongings. “Two years before ODIN—we were in Europe for a competition.”
“Shit,” he mutters, sliding you an awed glance. “You must be really good.”
“Was,” you laugh, shrugging. Hesh confusingly looks up while you explain the best you can. “It’s been so long, plus I gave it up when everything went down; went to get my qualifications to be a nurse and help out.” Hesh looks a bit sad at that, sneaking a glance back down at your bright smile in the picture.
“Looked like you loved it,” he commented, handing the frame back after a moment of thought. “I’m sorry.”
You’re slightly taken aback by the apology, oddly touched by his sudden seriousness about this. After a slow inhale, you hum. “It’s alright, Hesh. That’s just life—it’ll take us places even if we want to go or not. We just have to make the best of it.”
“You’re happy, though, Sweetheart,” he asks, eyes not faltering, “right?”
It’s not a feeling of uncertainty that makes you hesitate, it’s the way he asks you so genuinely; honest with his intentions. Rarely have you had people—soldier or civilian—come in here and speak to you like this. You stare with slightly-parted lips.
A bashful smile blooms on your lips.
“When I’m helping patients like you, Hesh, yes. Yes, I’m happy.” The man stares a moment longer before he clears his throat and glances down, contact broken; a crimson sheen infects his face.
“Good. That’s good.” Even if he’s not looking at you, a grin still twitches his lips; making your face go heated and warm with something else entirely. Hands stuttering over your frame, you put it down where it was and lick your lips, smiling at the tabletop.
When the doctor comes in, you let Hesh speak and pipe in with anything you needed to include, the air suddenly tinged with something between you and the soldier that you can’t put words to. It’s so potent even the doctor sends you a raised brow on the walk out. You avert your eyes and itch at your cheek.
“Least I’ll be able to get back out in the field quicker,” Hesh sighs, taking off his beanie for a moment before itching at the top of his head. “If I’d of had to go under, Logan would never let me hear the end of it.”
“You and your brother sound like you’re constantly nagging at each other,” you huff.
“Shit, what else are we good for?” The both of you share a laugh, eyes crinkling. There’s a moment of intimate silence before Hesh splays his hands and speaks.
“I’m gettin’ a splint, then?” You internally curse yourself as Hesh’s lids narrow on you, head tilting with a deep smirk. The trance is broken.
“Until the swelling goes down,” your head nods, fingers motioning to his ankle. “Then a cast for twelve to sixteen weeks.”
“Hm,” Hesh looks away and thins his lips, seriousness slipping back into his expression.
Staring, you ask carefully, concerned, “Hesh?”
“No,” he shakes his head, the smirk coming back as if it never left, “No, it’s just that’s a long time to not be able to take you out, is all.”
Your face blanks, heart all but stopping in your chest. The man watches you closely, slowly slipping his beanie back on his head with an innocent smile.
“Too forward?”
“N-no,” you stutter, face heating to an alarming degree. “No, I think that one was just right.”
Shaking your head quickly you brush down your top and listen to Hesh’s bright chuckles as you gather your bearings. It’s after you sigh and look back into those greens that you laugh and utter, “I think I’d be willing to wait.”
“Oh, yeah?” Your face can’t stop smiling at the teasing tilt to his words. “Now, I’d hate to make you sit around that long, Sweetheart.” “Hesh, I’m agreeing to go out on a date with you, take it or leave it,” you huff in exasperation, staring at him with a loose expression.
His eyes lighten, the stain of happiness leaking through.
“You proud of yourself?”
Hesh looks smug, but promptly states, “Didn’t think I’d get this far, if I’m bein’ honest.”
You press a hand to your mouth to stifle your loud laugh.
As promised, fifteen months later, there’s a knock on your office door—you stand and think nothing, opening the barrier only to find a large bouquet of flowers and the man holding them up to you.
Your face softens and Hesh returns a warm hum of greeting.
“Hope you’ll forgive me for bein’ late, Doll,” his eyes crinkle. “Was learnin’ how to dance. C’mon, I got some moves to show off—we’ll get you back in those pointe shoes in no time.”

Mischievous Matching
☆ Pairing: Loki x Mutant!Reader
☆ Synopsis: Loki is a trouble maker, always one to cause trouble, but he meets a mortal that is even worse than him and he finds himself absolutely powerless and victim of your stupid outdated pranks, but he finds himself to be putty in your hands.
☆ Word Count: 7,656 (good thing I didn't know what to do with this prompt, eh? This is just the second longest fic I've done.)
☆ Notes: My first request! Yay! 🥳Loki is a smitten little lee. I'm really bad at doing pranks so I did the worst and oldest pranks I remembered, because it's funny Loki not growing up on earth wouldn't know any of them. Also, it's not said outright, but in case of doubt the reader's mutation is super-elasticity because guess who started watching One Piece 👒🏴‍☠️.
☆ Warnings: Very bad and outdated pranks, other than that it's just pure fluff and flirting.
Tumblr media
Loki thought he was smug. He had always been the smart brother, growing up constantly tricking an entire realm of Gods and Goddesses, he was very little used to people being smarter than him. Of course, he knew a couple of them existed, his mother was one he could never lie to. Odin more often than others saw through his deception and caught him playing pranks on Thor. But when you grow up in a Realm that values more your physical strength and at most your ability to come with war strategies… You come to believe you’re bound to become complacent, and it becomes a matter until… well, what always happens.
Loki would’ve never expected his match would come from Earth. Quite frankly, he had expected humans would always stay the same, kind of like Asgardians did. But they didn’t. Humans (for the most part at least) didn’t have magic or supernatural skills, so they chose to be inventive, they created modern civilizations purely thanks to the fact that humans chose to play smarter.
He wouldn’t admit it, now that Asgard settled on Midgard, and he got to see what humans did with technology… it was sort of admirable how much they had made purely with ingenuity. Only a bit.
There was Stark, who had made a technological empire and entire armies just with just machines, humans like the sanctuary where Strange lived or the Maximoff girl that had learned magic despite their incompatibility with it, or the bug hero’s mentor that figured a way to alter the size of matter itself. Not to mention the Avengers had managed to take him down, a God his ancestors used to venerate without question.
Perhaps some humans were in fact, formidable.
Still Loki could get away with a ridiculous number of things simply because a lot of humans were just that gullible. His illusions had already started wreaking havoc in small towns where his illusions had turned into rumors of what he learned humans called UFOs… although, to be completely fair, he was, by definition, an alien.
But the true meaning of formidable he found in you.
He met you one night he was allowed to visit New York and he decided to mess with passerby Midgardians. He simply sat on a bench of the park casted the illusion of a Ratatoskr and let humans do their thing. Truth to be told, while the creature wasn’t necessarily scary, it was gonna be interesting when the young ones noticed a talking squirrel and he saw some children excitedly trying to catch it, which may or may not have been actually endearing. But the real fun came when the parents became hysterical. Chaos ensued and Loki couldn’t hide a smile.
“That’s yours, isn’t it?” a voice asked, and you sat beside him.
He looked at you perplexed.
“It’s just… it kinda sticks out that you seem even more amused than the actual children playing with that. It’s supposed to be Ratatoskr, right?”
He didn’t expect anyone to notice, he had sat at enough distance that he couldn’t be related to what was going on, and he had a book on his hands so no one would relate his amusement to what’s going on.
The illusion vanished as he lost focus, surprised that you noticed him. He couldn’t hold back a soft laugh through his breath when a woman in her middle age let out a screech threatening to call the cops on an invisible talking squirrel. And to his surprise you laughed too.
“Man, I enjoy seeing your everyday soccer mom lose her marbles at whatever, but actively seeking their wrath takes courage.” You laughed.
You stretched out your hand and introduced yourself with a firm handshake which Loki surprised himself returning and giving away his actual name.
“W-Wait… like the Loki, Thor’s little brother… The Asgardian that… you know… over a decade ago did… you know?” you asked perplexed, not daring to say the actual thing.
Loki tense up, not knowing how you’d act next. For all he knows maybe the police force would end up showing up after all.
“Damn, so what they say is true” you shrugged. “You are a softie now.”
“What they say?” Loki gasped out indignant.
“Yeah, it was over the news a bit after the second snap, Ironman and your brother gave a press conference to explain you were in peace with Earth and it was Thanos’ brainwash.” You explained as a cheeky grin formed on your face. “Ergo, you are a softie.”
Loki was speechless. You knew who he was, you knew what he had done to New York, and yet you were poking the bear with a stick without an ounce of fear in your expression.
“Listen well, mortal, I–” Loki huffed.
“Pfft! I didn’t know Gods blushed.” You laughed heartedly.
“Hang on just a minute!” Loki protested as he became aware of the heat on his cheeks “I am–”
“Surprisingly fun to be around.”
He opened his mouth and closed it again as he found himself with no witty retort for your teasing.
“Thank you, I suppose” was all he could say, with less spite than he usually had when he spoke with mortals.
“I was gonna go grab a bite, wanna join? It’s a bit boring eating alone” you offered.
His stomach growled and he took the offer, partly because he was very hungry and both you had caught his curiosity. You were an odd one, that was for sure.
“So…” you wondered. “Is it true you’re staying with the Avengers?”
“Why do you wanna know?” he asked back.
“Curiosity” you smiled.
A question like that could’ve easily triggered an alarm, but for some reason it didn’t. And you didn’t lie.
“Yes, my brother decided to join the quarters to live with his friends and he took me with him” Loki admitted.
“Took you with him? Like an updog?” you arched an eyebrow in a way that made him feel slightly sheepish.
“Excuse me? What’s that?”
“What’s what?”
“Updog.”
“What about it?”
“What is updog?”
“Not much, what’s up with you?” you wheezed before letting out a dorky laugh.
Despite the fact that the All-Speak did not allow him to understand a place’s lingo he understood he had fallen for a stupid Midgardian joke.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I had to try, oh… oh god, I hadn’t met a anyone who didn’t know that one yet, but I had to try. I like you already.”
Now he was convinced, you were definitely an odd one. Not only did you not fear him, but you were bold enough to pull practical jokes on him and teased him for falling for it. It got on his nerves.
But he couldn’t help but follow you around. You kept teasing him the entire trip to a sandwich shop.
“What do you want to eat?” you smiled.
Loki stared awkwardly at the menu, he recognized some of the ingredients, but he had never been to a place like this. And he wasn’t used enough to human food to make an informed choice.
So, you stepped up and asked him a couple of questions about the food he liked and made a choice for him.
“You can punch me in the arm if it’s not good” you winked at him.
Loki surprised himself smiling at you.
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
But it was really good. It wasn’t anywhere near as refined as what he was used to eat, but it was surprisingly good. And you even paid for his food, which spared him the uncomfortable conversation over why he had no money despite leaving in a millionaire’s house.
“Hey, I live a bit far away, do you mind accompanying me home?”
Loki wasn’t sure why he accepted, but he found himself following you around, risking getting lost in New York City since he didn’t really know the area that well just yet. But he got on the bus with you and followed you home.
Which to his surprise… was the compound he himself lived in.
“Wait… D-Did you…?”
Loki felt betrayed. Of course. He should have known Stark would send an agent to find him, no one really trusted him, and they had to assign him a nanny to make sure he–
“I’m glad I ran into you” You spoke, interrupting his train of thought. “I still feel anxious coming so far out of the city alone, sorry if I cut your trip short.”
That caught him off guard. Were you not follow him? He didn’t sense a lie, but perhaps he was still a bit distracted.
“You mean you found me by accident?” Loki asked.
“Yeah, I’m not used to the headquarters being a home, so I need to get out to stretch my legs every once in a while. Otherwise, I feel… I don’t know.”
“Imprisoned.” You finished, as Loki’s lips let out the exact same word in almost a perfect synchronization.
Again, no lie.
“Hah… yeah” you smiled. “Sorry, I probably sound like a brat, complaining about living in such a big place.”
“No, I understand perfectly.” Loki found himself say in soft tone.
Loki walked with you inside and accompanied to your room. The sight when you opened the door was rather dismal. Just a small bed, a desk. But the bed was interesting, or more like what was on top of it. A stuffed little bear with a green bow on its neck, and a travel bag. He assumed they did go with Director Fury’s intention of having the trainees educated like soldiers until they completed their training.
After that day he felt more interested on helping with the training of newer recruits, thing he crushingly refused to do before meeting you. But it was his excuse to see you more. And as he imagined, you were among the best recruits. You weren’t the strongest, nor the fastest, and definitely not the tallest given some mutants came to be even taller than him. But you were agile and flexible, and you worked harder than anyone else to make up for any shortcomings you could have.
And you were smart, the smartest in the group. Loki had seen Stark give tests to the recruits and your results always came among the best, and more often than not, you were on top of those results.
“You did it again” Loki would congratulate you.
“It’s just a number on a paper” you always replied back, “that doesn’t mean I am going to be good on the world out there.”
“And yet your leg is bouncing with excitement” Loki pointed out.
You laughed and placed a hand to your knee to make it stop.
“The ego boost is still appreciated” you replied, a bit sheepish.
You were his favorite of all the recruits. Not that it was a title most competed for, a lot just gave him wary looks when it was his turn to train recruits, after all who wanted to have the man who once terrorized Earth as the class teacher. But you always helped to control the group, willingly volunteering for sparring with him for demonstrations and even while everyone else got a partner you chose him, even when that meant it’d be ten times more difficult than picking another mutant.
But once again, that allowed him to get closer to you.
“I’m telling you, it’s magic!” you assured him pointing to the water bottle as you sat next to him.
“Sure, it is.”
He knew you had no magic. He had read your files –for purely professional reasons, like personalizing– and knew of your abilities. But he also had no clue how you had shoved a coin bigger than the bottles neck all the way to the bottom.
But he didn’t like that playful giggle of yours, it always meant trouble.
“Look inside if you don’t believe me.” You said placing your eye on the bottle orifice to get a better look at the coin.
He sighed and mimicked what you had done, pressing his eye to the bottle’s finish to get a better look and see if he could figure something to get it out.
“I don’t see–”
In a second you had squeezed the bottle and splash him in the face. Which was noticed by a few recruits that let out quiet laughs, unlike you who were giggling shamelessly at his expense.
“You! You... traitorous, cheeky, despicable, insolent–” Loki huffed as he latched onto your ribs and squeezed them repeatedly making you double over in laughter.
You batted his hand gently after about a minute as you regained his composure.
“Oh god, you’re my favorite thing ever, it’s been years since these pranks stooped working on everyone else” you laughed.
Loki huffed. “I wasn’t living here years ago.”
“Oh, I know that’s what makes it funnier” you laughed and patted his shoulder.
Other trainees were looking at him amused, but he noticed they seemed a lot less tense now. As if some of that fear they had was gone. It was… weirdly nice. So, he just sighed and rubbed his face with sleeve to dry himself off.
“You cannot expect me to go easy on you after your little stunt” he asked as he stood up.
“Mm, it’s already, I like rough treatment anyway” you winked at him.
That made some other people in the room as Loki’s cheeks heated up lightly. But he still smirked.
“We’ll see about that in a few minutes, won’t we?”
You were also what humans called, the class clown. And your favorite thing was to prank him. It was all harmless stuff, like when you started a game the entire class to start a game every time, he used Asgardian or just outdated expressions like “Norns” or “Heavens.” Or that time you taped giant googly eyes to your chest, so he had a hard time giving a lecture as he got the urge to laugh every time he glanced at you, and even had the audacity to tell him, “Hey, my eyes are up here!” as you bounced, making the googly eyes bounce all over the place. That time where you filled his locker with confetti and balloons.
It was embarrassing because despite he’s nature, he had no way to get back at you. His illusions didn’t faze you one bit, and the concept of pranks for a god weren’t particularly safe for humans, your style was weirdly benign, and he couldn’t match it. And everything he tried repeating from your pranks wasn’t really surprising.
He used to think nothing could ever bother you at all… Until he was wrong.
He found you one night by the roof, sitting with your legs hanging on the edge, but the little border made a secure railing that kept you safe. You had been gone for hours, even skipping training, and he saw a half empty bottle of Vodka behind you.
“What are you doing here?” he asked as he sat beside you.
“Wasting time, and Tony’s reserves” you joked bitterly. “Watching the forest.”
“It is a lovely night” Loki admitted. “But you were missed at today’s sparring. It is obvious I’m not nearly as tolerable without you around.”
“Just relax, they’ve already warmed up to you” you sighed. “No one likes a stiff teacher.”
It was true hay whenever you made him laugh everyone else seemed to ease up as well. He always attributed to your natural charm and that you relished embarrassing him. But… people were a lot less wary around him lately.
“What made you skip?” he asked.
“It’s the 13th anniversary since my mutation manifested” you sighed and you reached your arm into the sky, it stretched for a few meters before it regained its normal shape.
“I thought people here celebrated that” Loki inquired. “You act as if a partner abandoned you.”
“I don’t know, I think I miss being normal… well, more normal” you chuckled humorlessly. “Not feeling like an actual monster.”
Loki could relate to that, realizing that you are different means you will never wake up with the same concept of yourself, because as it turns out, you are a mistake, a cosmic improbability and turns out, you’ve never been like anyone else around you.
“You are not monster, you’re a–”
“Oh right, because mutant sounds so much nicer.”
“Does it upset you?” Loki asked. “Being the way you are?”
“Yes. No. A little? I don’t know, it’s like a dream living in the Avengers home.” You sighed. “But… don’t you ever get the feeling that rather than wanting to have you around they’re just don’t want you to go rogue? I mean, I get it, with all that’s happening with the Banshee black market…”
Loki couldn’t help but laugh at that. If anyone understood what you felt, that was him. You were a mutant, which granted was becoming much more transcendental these days. More with the mutation enhancing drugs circulating, SHIELD and other organizations were putting a lot of energy to make sure less mutants went on a rampage. But none of you actually had major lists of crimes on their backs, unlike Loki. If anyone was being monitored that was Loki.
Even if he was technically an official Avenger already, it always felt like it was all because of his connection with Thor and at most that he was already highly trained, better than most other Avengers.
“I assure you that they do not think that of you.” Loki spoke reassuringly. “The Incorporations of Mutants Program is simply to remove mutants from a dangerous environment.”
“Yeah, free of Banshee and even add some mutant soldiers to their ranks, it’s a win-win situation” you spoke bitterly.
A part of him felt weirdly nostalgic. His mind took him back to the treasure vault of Asgard, his words reverberating on the walls: «So I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up, here until you might have use of me?» And now, more than a decade later, he found himself defending his father. This was just the same, you weren’t necessarily wrong… but it only a piece of the picture, the hurtful bit of a picture.
“You’re right to feel that way.” Loki spoke reassuringly. “But know that these people care about you… even if their original intentions aren’t as selfless. Trust me, I would know.”
“That’s surprisingly mature for a prince that’s technically younger than me.”
He felt his cheeks warming up to your comment and scoffed out a laugh. Of course, even in a vulnerable moment you wouldn’t let the chance pass to tease him.
“What can I say? I am not just devilishly handsome, charming, and tremendously intelligent,” he smiled, “there’s gotta be some wisdom to balance it all out.”
That made you laugh in that way that made his heart flutter in his chest. And before he knew it, you had rested your head on his shoulder. He felt his cheeks heat up and a smile make its way to his face. Had it always been so difficult concealing his excitement?
“You forgot humble and down to earth” you chuckled and rolled your eyes.
“What can I say, darling?” he smiled, “I’m a perfect man, I am completely irresistible.”
“And you still can’t get a date” you smile nudging his side.
“Not my fault there” Loki chuckled, “I’m quite particular when choosing a lover.”
“Right, and you being insufferable has nothing to do with it” you smiled as you grabbed his side and gave him a few squeezes.
The feeling made him jolt and let out a strangled gasp. Of course, you little brat always took advantage of this silly weakness of him ever since you found out.
He remembered the day you found out, quite vividly.
It was a holiday, so most recruits were out for a couple of days with either family, friends, or a new fling. Even some of the Avengers with friends out of the compound left for a few days. So, it was the super soldiers, the Maximoff twins, Vision, Thor, Loki, and you.
Your family had left for a trip, so you had no reason to leave the compound. Loki was thrilled that he would have you practically to himself. He felt those butterflies deep within his chest every time he saw you alone in a room. Of course, he kept his cool as best he could, still being the same mischievous charmer he’s always been, despite feeling like a giddy kid at the sight of you.
Even the most ordinary of mornings were blissful with you around. Even things like breakfast you could always make a monotone activities fun. Like right now, making Thor and the Maximoff twins laugh and sing around with you while you were whipping pancake mix on a bowl. It was some sort of little dance party while you cooked.
Loki couldn’t help but stare and chuckle softly.
“Loki, good morning” you smiled as poured some mix on a frying pan. “Wanna join us for breakfast?”
“Is it required for me to squirm around like a possessed worm like you’re doing?” he joked.
“Yes, it is imperative that you do, otherwise the pancakes will come flat” you quipped back with a cheeky smile.
“Come on brother, I know Midgard dancing is very different from what we used to see at home,” Thor intervened, “But it is quite fun, give it a try!”
“That’s the attitude, Thor-nderstorm” you grinned as you continued to dance.
“In that case I think I’ll just do with some coffee” he cleared his throat as he spoke.
“Come on, brother” Thor insisted, shameless —or rather, clueless— as usual. “It’s fun!”
“Hey, no shame if he can’t do it” you said, “Not everyone can dance.”
Loki laughed.
“If you call that «dancing», I’ll let you know I am actually a great dancer” he stated, just so you knew.
“Loki, if someone has to inform me of their traits, I have learned not to believe that.” You challenged him.
He looked away, focusing on the black liquid dripping into the coffee pot, trying to think of anything else that wasn’t you. Just the coffee, dark, bitter, that he had to keep himself from drinking before bed or it’d deprive him of sleep... Just the way you…
“ACK—!” he was brought back by the squeeze on his sides that made him jump and hold back a yelp.
He was ready to yell at Thor, when he saw the outstretched arms and you looking at him from the other side of the kitchen, the hands returned to your hips. Everyone was looking at him.
“Oh, you’re back” you saw his rosy cheeks a bit confused. “Honey?”
“Excuse me?”
“What do you want your pancakes with? Honey?”
“Uh- I… I- no… Um, I didn’t— I…” he couldn’t even look at you.
But you gave him a reassuring smile.
“I recall you like them with honey” you smiled, “It’s Thor that likes them with maple syrup.”
“That’s correct” Thor beamed happily.
“Don’t finish it all you hoarder” Pietro quipped as he wrestled with the blond for the bottle of syrup.
He sighed quietly, thankful that they had moved onto the next subject. He served himself his cup of coffee and just when he was going to turn around, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and that gently traveled all the way down his side and caused him to shiver.
He looked at you with daggers in his eyes before checking on the rest that were focused on eating and didn’t notice anything, thankfully. You just look at him and chuckled, before handing him a plate with neatly piled up pancakes with honey and some a small mix of berries you knew he liked.
“I didn’t know all Gods were so ticklish, I thought it was a Thor thing” you whispered. “…Good to know.”
You might as well have buried him alive after that. But, to his surprise you didn’t tell anyone. No one brought it up, not even Thor, who was already painfully aware of how cripplingly sensitive Loki was. No, and the anticipation killed him for the next day or two.
You didn’t bring it up once until one night you had the entire compound to yourselves. The doctor Foster had invited Thor over to «watch movies», not that anyone bought that for a second, the Scarlet Witch had gone on a date with the Vision, Barnes and Rogers were out on a party thing and had taken the Maximoff brother with him to further introduce him as part of the team. So, it was you and Loki completely alone.
You were reading on the couch on the weirdest positions, with your head upside down and the book inelegantly hanging on the air as you red upside down with your back arched as it seemed you’d fall out of the couch any second.
He grinned. It was the perfect chance to get you back. He made sure to be very quiet as he approached you and moved very slowly so you wouldn’t notice him —human earbuds were a blessing for his mischief, but they were not infallible— and right when he was towering over you. He squeezed both your sides.
“AAAAAAHHH!” you screeched as you fell off the couch.
Loki looked over to where you were laying on the floor where you had a hand over your heart.
“Loki! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” You scolded him.
What? No blush, no squeaky voice, no stuttering, no nervous shifting or even a giggle? No nothing? Were you that good at playing dumb? No way.
“What was that for?”
“I am sorry, I simply can’t resist when someone is vulnerable like that” Loki shrugged it off and sat on the couch, hoping you wouldn’t ask him to elaborate. “What are you reading?”
You sat back up next to him and showed him the baby blue book with pink letters and a couple kissing on the cover. One of those romance novels you liked.
“Is that the one you told me about?” Loki asked.
“It’s the one” you grinned and noticed the book beside him. “What are you reading?”
“Just old Asgardian poetry” he said, showing you the book, despite knowing you don’t speak Asgardian. He noticed the look you gave him, with an arched eyebrow and a smug grin, “It’s old even for me. Just old love poems.”
Your eyes sparkled like absolute diamonds, and you scooted closer to him, your face just inches from his. “Can you read one to me?”
He felt his cheeks flush at your excitement, and the clumsiness. But he cleared his throat and opened it on the poem he was reading. But he decided to be smug and read it just like it showed, in old Norse.
“Oh, so funny.” You growled and jabbed his sides.
Loki nearly jumped out of his skin and barked out a laugh. A laugh that didn’t go unnoticed given you quickly followed that same movement that had made him squirm. He very did a very poor job at concealing his reaction.
His brain quickly felt fuzzy, he could feel his restrained laughter echoing in his chest, and even still a few snickers were slipping out. His arms felt like worms just clumsily trying to find your hands to push you away. His face was impossibly hot and surely a dark shade of red at this point. His mind was on its knees begging for him to succumb and allow his body to laugh. And that’s exactly what he did when your hands sneaked past his arms and gently wiggled against the skin on his armpits.
“Wahahait! Stohohohop that!” he laughed.
“So that’s what your laugh sounds like” you teased him. “Hm… it’s actually kinda cute.”
“Stohohop this or ehehehehelse!” he latched his hands to your forearms but found that he didn’t even have the strength in himself to push you away.
Maybe it was that subliminal fear that he knew how fragile humans were. Maybe he was just that stupidly ticklish. Or… maybe your fingers were warm, and soft… and you had never given him this much attention.
He had fallen back on the couch, and you sat on his waist, straddling him with your legs on each side, and your hands were now exploring every bit of his torso to see what got him to laugh the hardest, your eyes were looking for every reaction, and your words were dedicated solely to tease him. He truly had you all for himself right now.
And it was driving him crazy.
“Mohohohortal! Cease this ahahahahat once!” he cackled. “It’s ahahahahan ordeheher!”
“Oh?” you smiled in a made that made his insides tingle, “I don’t think you’re in any position to make that call~”
Your thumbs dug into his hipbones that made him arch his back as he let out a loud screech and followed by a stream of guffaws. You laughed along with him, and it almost made this torture worth it.
Worth it, not more bearable.
“Plehehehease, no more! I surrender!” he laughed as he clumsily slapped your forearm in what he had learned was a sign of giving up.
“Wait, seriously” you asked, a bit surprised that you had actually gotten to him.
“Yehehehes, please, I yieheheheld!”
And thank gods it worked. You immediately stopped tickling him and helped him sit back up.
“You okay there?” you smiled at him, and his only response was tackling you to try getting some well-deserve revenge.
Ever since that night you had tormented every once in a while, by tickling him silly whenever you felt like it. But somehow you always had the decency to make it behind closed doors, where no one could see him laughing like an idiot at the mercy of a mortal simply tickling him. And… laying on your bed at late hours was very much worth it, the books he brought to read for you could always wait.
Loki and you chatted for a few hours and soon you sober up enough which relaxed Loki enough, but he noticed your conversation turned more melancholic, contrasting with your grumpy drunk rant earlier. You talked about your family, old jobs, and a department you owned before moving in on the compound.
“Can I tell you something funny?” you smiled sadly, and he nodded. “I miss being ticklish.”
“Well darling, I think that’s been enough alcohol for you.” Loki said as he grabbed the bottle and made it vanish away from you.
“I mean it!” you laughed.
“You’re insane.”
“It’s… I used to laugh so easy… Now every poke, every squeeze, every jab…” you poked your side and your finger sunk in your skin. “It’s… I don’t know… absorbed? I don’t feel anything like I used to.”
He remembered, the time you tickled him silly, how he attempted to get revenge, and how poorly it ended for him.
He latched his hands to your sides and squeezed you thoroughly. He crawled his hands over your belly, he pinched your ribs, and skittering his fingers under your arms. He experimented on every inch of your body.
But at most you gave him a soft breathy laugh, more amused than ticklish induced.
“Sorry Loki, I’m not that ticklish” you smiled trying to be apologetic, but you seemed more amused.
Your armed stretched and wrapped in circles around his bicep to pin his arm upward and still stretched enough to reach and tickle under his arm.
Needless to say, this time he didn’t get a break so easily.
“I doubt there is any actual downside to being the way you are” Loki encouraged you, “I’d give anything to not be… you know…”
“Cripplingly ticklish?” you smiled and elbowed his side making his face flush.
Norns, where had the days gone when he used to be a charming silver-tongued flirt? He used to be swooning men, women, and mythical beings alike, but your silly teasing for some reason had him blushing like a young boy.
“I-It’s… not how I would have phrased that…”
“I would” you cut him off with a giggle and poked his ribs, making him jump and barely hold back a squeak. A squeak.
“Right… Nowhere near the point I was trying to make” he sighs.
“I know… I just miss that intimacy” you sighed.
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know, tickling was fun when I was little, it’s a nice way of being close to others” you sighed as you rested your head against his shoulder. “And I wish I could have that. Usually I get «no, it’s unfair since you’re not ticklish» and well… No more fun for me.”
Close to others.
He gulped at the warmth of your body as you leaned on him. His heart was racing, his hands were sweaty, his face was burning, he felt a knot in his throat and his breath was hitching.
“Tickle me then.”
“What did you say?!”
What did he say?!
Loki had been through the toughest training regimes growing up, he’d been deadly injured in battle countless time before he even turned 1000 years old, he’d withstand the most merciless tortures, and had been clinically dead more than once. But ever since he was little the one thing he couldn’t stand, was getting tickled. It was so bad to the point where the only people who could tickle him were his parents and Thor… who also had the advantage of being about three times stronger than Loki.
He remembered vividly the last time he was tickled past his limit he had lost control of his magic and unintentionally sent Thor to the healing room for two days (although he had been too proud to admit it had been an accident). The fact that you had left your last encounter tickling him unscathed was a miracle.
“Are you serious?” you asked him, looking at him suspiciously.
Truthfully, he didn’t know if he was. He was so convinced he hated being tickled, that he couldn’t understand why the idea actually felt… Exciting? Appealing? He tried convincing himself it was just the idea of having your hands on him.
“Yes, how bad can it really be?” Loki nearly wanted to die when he felt his voice crack in nervousness, and he had to clear his throat. “You’re just a human, after all.”
“Oh, is that so?” you chuckle. “Mm, I might take you on that offer then.”
You squeezed his side and his breath hitched.
“W-Wait, don’t!” he gasped and grabbed your hand.
“Oh, here better?” you grinned and used your other hand to squeeze above his knee, which made him jolt and grab your other hand by reflex.
“Gods, you do not make this easy” he chuckled softly.
“We don’t have to do this if you’re not comfortable” you smiled genuinely. “I still appreciate the intention.”
The disappointed look on your face was all the motivation he needed, he pulled you towards him and sat facing you, guiding your hands to his sides as he felt his face burning. How terminally insane had he gone?
“Do it before I change my mind” he said firmly.
“Pfft!” you giggled, “You’re crazy.”
“It would seem so” he smiled. “Let’s get this over with…”
You chuckled and you started skittering your fingernails along his sides. Loki’s jaw tensed immediately as he felt his lips started twitching upward.
“Aww… you’re so ticklish, Loki” you smiled as you kept tracing your fingers up and down his sides, from his hips to his upper ribs. “It’s so charming.”
He cursed his choice of wardrobe today, and Midgardian fashion in general, he could have used a good layer of his Asgardian leather armors. Now a cotton shirt and black jeans served him very little as your finger tormented his sides.
And he was starting to giggle already.
“Yohohohou’re such a pehehehehest!”
“C’mon… it is pretty cute how you laugh,” you smiled, “your voice is so deep but your giggles are so light.”
“I’m nohohohot cute! Hehehe- Hey! Dohohohn’t touch thehehehere!” he giggled when your hands wiggled towards the sides of his belly.
“Oh, your pwetty tummy is so ticklish, isn’t it?” you cooed doing bloody baby talk, “You so cute~”
“Stohohohohop!” he guffawed. “Do nohohot patronize mehehehe!”
He hated how well you had learned how sensitive his stomach was. You had tickled him about three times total prior to this peak of insanity, but the weak spot that was his entire abdomen didn’t go unnoticed from the first time.
“I’m sorry, it’s so hard not to tease you when you have such a cute way of laughing.”
“I’m nohohohohot! Stop sahahaying that!” he protested between laughs.
“You should see yourself” you smiled at him. “The way you scrunch up your nose and stick your tongue out ever so slightly is so endearing!”
“Shuhuhuhut up!” he laughed as he bent over to try protecting his belly from your fingers.
You were being so gentle to him, simply skittering your fingers over his shirt. Being anyone else, that might have just gotten a few giggles out, but he was so ridiculously ticklish, especially there. That this delicate taunt to the skin had him hysterical.
“No mohohohore!” he pleaded, “Not thehehehere!”
“Not where?” you asked innocently. “Here?”
And you poked gently over the patch of skin right below his navel.
“Cuhuhut it out! Gehehet away from my stomahahahach!” he cackled, “I’m behehegging you!”
For some reason you decided to listen and move from his gut, moving to poke and knead his ribs, even doing those unbearable ticklish pinches around him.
You had a hellish ability to have him in stitches.
It kept going for a while, you would explore a spot, have him giggling like a child and then move onto the next to start over, not giving him a chance to get used to any sensation or spot.
“Dahahahahahahahaharling, plehehease!” he laughed, “thahahat’s so bahahahad!”
Seemingly that phrased worked and it stopped you giving him the chance to catch his breath, he placed a hand over his chest, feeling it rise and fall as he tried refilling his lungs with air.
“You little imp!” Loki panted “I was being so nice to you!”
“So was I” you smiled, “I’ve tickled you before, you know how bad it can be.”
Surely you were right, but the way you said it, almost like a promise, made Loki’s cheeks flare up, not that it would’ve been noticeable given how his face was flushed from laughing.
“You’re a menace” he chuckled, as he ruffled your hair “How come I’ve grown so fond of a little nuisance like yourself?”
“What can I say? I’m irresistible like that” you laughed as you rested your head against his arm.
He chuckled as he felt a lingering warmth spreading from where you were resting against his arm to his chest.
“Maybe you are” he sighed with a smile. If only you knew.
“Loki… can I ask you something?” you looked up at him.
“What is it?”
“Are you happy… living here?” you asked. “Or… have you never thought of running away?”
His face darkened. It made sense, but the idea of you thinking of him as a potential traitor stung worse than every awful thing said to or by him in stupid fights with Thor or his parents when the arguments got heated.
“Why do you ask?”
“Well, you lived in a castle, with luxury, prestige, fame and power” you spoke, “isn’t this too little for you? Don’t you feel trapped?”
Now that reasoning he didn’t expect. He smiled at you fondly.
“You make me sound like a spoiled brat” he chuckled.
“Aren’t you?” you chuckled.
“Of course not, I am the epitome of humility” he claimed, making you laugh. “But… answering to your question… I used to feel trapped, every day I’d be plotting my escape, how to make my great escape.”
“And we won't hear a word they say…” you chuckled.
“What?” he smiled.
“Nothing, The Great Escape is a song, continue” you smiled.
“And trust me… at first… I tried, they didn’t take long to catch me analyzing their security systems and patrolling schedules in a chance to sneak out. I was given so many last warnings and caused Thor so much trouble. Until… eventually I realized… I had nowhere to run to” Loki spoke sadly, “And eventually I stopped trying, this was all I had, and I had to make the best of it. At least my brother was around…”
“Aw, so you do care about Thor” you smiled as you nudge his side.
“I did not say that, and you are not to tell him that” Loki spoke in a fake seriousness. “His ego is big enough as it is.”
“Oh, you’re criticizing him about his big ego.” You laughed, and Loki’s heart fluttered, “You should tell him, he would be very happy that his little brother loves him.”
“Perhaps I will one day” Loki smiled, resting his cheek on the top of your head. “Now, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted…”
“Diva” you muttered under your breath, making Loki chuckle.
“…Eventually I resigned to living here,” he continued. “And one day, the Incorporation of Mutant Program was introduced.”
“I’m still not over the fact that we were named the IMPs” you laughed, making Loki snicker.
“Are you kidding? That was the only thing I considered salvageable of you all at the time.” Loki joked, earning a poke on the ribs from you, “…Among the other Avengers I was requested to instruct the recruits. Which I refused to do.”
“And then you met me” you smiled.
“And then I met you.” Loki agreed. “Which made it all more bearable, you at least provided me with some challenge and entertainment.”
“That’s a really twisted way to say you like me” you chuckled.
If you only knew…
“Would you believe me if I said I did?”
“That’s fair.”
The triggered something in him, a moment of bravado that made him want to risk everything and tell you.
“Are you sure of that?” he asked, as he gently placed a finger under your chin, and pulled for you to look at him. “Even if I said you drive me completely crazy?”
Oh, the look of shock that adorned your now blushing features was delicious.
“Even if I said that I think about you on every waking moment, and that just for the sake of that smile of yours I’d withstand the most barbarous tortures… That for the longest time now you’ve had my heartstrings wrapped around your fingers, playing me like a puppet at your will just for the sake of you one day maybe looking at me the way I look at you.”
“What…? Wh— L-Loki… I— you—!” you stuttered.
Your face was red, but you didn’t seem repelled by his confession. Thank goodness. He thought maybe giving you some time to organize your words was the best thing he could do.
“Why me?” you finally asked.
“Why not?”
“I’m not particularly strong, powerful or attractive” you stated. “Even among just the other recruits.”
“I beg to differ, it takes a lot to render a god helpless like you did earlier.”
“Because you allowed me to” you retorted.
“Because I am crazy about you” Loki said gently.
“Why?”
“You’re stubborn, you get on my nerves all the time, you question and defy my authority every chance you have, and you have no fear of the consequences of crossing a god, especially one with my history.” Loki chuckled. “That takes a lot of courage.”
You smiled at him shyly, and oh gods, the amount of self-control it took not to tackled you and kiss the daylights out of you was ridiculous.
“You are funny, and witty, you have these innocent eyes that make me want to blindly believe you every time you pull one of your stupid pranks on me.”
“And you fall every time” you smiled as the pink shade returned to your cheeks.
“I fall every time” he whispered with a gentle nod. “I fall every time you smile, every time you laugh and every time you look at me as if I was someone interesting and worth getting to know better.”
“You are worth getting to know better… Hell, you’re worth risking a friendship for…”
“Risking a friendship— Mmph?!”
Before he could process what you had done he was already melting against your lips that were sweetly pressed against his.
He felt your fingers sneaking behind him, brushing gently against his neck, which made him laugh softly against the kiss before they continued their journey to his head, where they started playing with his hair in a way that caused him to swoon. In return he placed his hands on the small of your back, brushing his thumbs against you.
And you let out a giggle.
“What was that?” he asked amused.
“W-Wait, do it again!” You smiled brightly.
Loki smiled and brushed his fingers gently across your back and you let out a little giggle.
“It tickled!” You exclaimed.
“Oh did it…?” he smiled and experimented by gently scratching your sides and belly, just soft caresses with his blunt nails over your skin.
And you were giggling like a happy kid.
“Would you look at that…” Loki taunted you. “The little springy mortal is ticklish after all.”
You just rested against his chest as he tickled you, not protesting or squirming at all, just happy giggles. He supposed it made sense, pokes, squeezes, and jabs did nothing, but your skin was still sensitive enough to react to caresses, and it turned out it was all he needed. He took his sweet time exploring every little spot on your body that made you giggle.
Perhaps tickling was fun after all.

AU where Laufey gives birth to Loki very unexpectedly (he'd just manged to carry and birth one heir, and they both barely survived the process) and Loki's so small that he's struggling to live in Jotunheim's harsh climate. They keep him close to some old, rarely used furnaces/fireplaces to keep him warm, but he's still constantly shivering and crying and Laufey can't even hold him long enough to feed him.
So, just a few days after giving birth to Loki, Laufey shows up in Asgard alone and looking exhausted and rough, wanting to talk with Odin. Jotunheim and Asgard have been long time enemies, with war being a constant threat hanging over their collective heads, so Laufey showing up and basically begging Odin to take his baby and raise it is a bit of shock.
But maybe he's feeling a little soft because Frigga just gave birth to Thor (the same day Loki was born- what a coincidence!) and agrees to raise Loki to adulthood after quickly negotiating a very lopsided deal. (Because Odin's still gotta be a bit of jerk and take advantage of his enemy when he's desperate.) Laufey rushes back to Jotunheim and Odin informs Frigga she's gonna have an extra baby to take care of.
Needless to say, a lot of people - especially on Laufey's side- don't love this whole plan very much. They would very much rather have Loki just die on Jotunheim than have a prince raised in Asgard and let Odin get what he wants. Laufey knows this but just cannot give a single shit. He's lost so many babies and he cannot bear the thought of watching another one die right before his eyes. He's all on his own again when Odin + Frigga and a handful of some other Asgardians show up for the Loki hand off and get the deal started. Laufey is pretty fucking miserable about the whole situation but feels a little hope when he hands Loki to Frigga and she clearly falls in love with his tiny screaming infant right then and there. Still hurts when she has to instantly turn around and whisk him off to Asgard.
And Frigga was definitely pissed when Odin told her The Plan. She literally just gave birth, she's frazzled even with the help of like, 1000 maids and nurses. But Loki's so tiny and fragile and She Just Knows she has to keep this lil guy safe and loved. And after having him looked over and getting him warm and fed she plops him into the crib right next to Thor and Just Knows that these boys where meant to be together.
>>Fast forward>> and now The Time Has Come: Loki's almost an adult and he has to go back to Jotunheim.
Except there's one little tiny thing Odin's neglected to mention to anyone (not even Frigga) - once Loki goes to Jotunheim, he can't come back. No visits, no letters, no nothing. It was agreed that it would be essentially like the whole raising Loki on Asgard thing never happened at all. (Why? Because The Drama.)
Now Thor and Loki are incredibly close, they're brothers! They always assumed even after Loki had to go that they'd at least get to talk through letters and have the occasional visit. It would still suck, but they'd have something. So the news that their upcoming birthday would be the last day they'd share together. Ever. It's like a bomb being dropped on the dinner table.
(Frigga's not to pleased that Odin would have the Fucking Audacity to plop a baby in her lap to love and raise as her own then expect her to be fine when he ripped him out of her arms- like, yeah, she's had The Visions and knows her boys are gonna be together one way or another but it still doesn't make what Odin has done any better in her eyes. Especially having to console her shocked, heartbroken boys in the aftermath. Oh she is Pissed.)
(this is getting so long, damn!)
Loki had always felt very out of place in Asgard. People were generally polite and kind, but he never felt truly welcomed by anyone aside from Thor, Frigga, and the handful of the maids/guards/pages etc. that he was around the most. Odin certainly made him feel like a temporary intrusion upon his life. So he'd often dreamed about getting to go live on Jotunheim and be with his people- except when he gets there he feels just as out of place and maybe even a little more unwelcome then he had back on Asgard. A lot of Jotuns (especially the more powerful set) where still very unhappy with the deal Laufey made to save him and they would've really preferred that Loki had just died instead.
And the fact that he literally just doesn't fit in that well, size-wise. Despite having a wing of his own sized to fit him, everything else is huge, and despite being hearty enough to survive the climate now, it's still far too cold for him to really do much or anything. The only place he really has outside of the palace is a Little Asgard-esque town set up a bit away from the city, where Asgard set up one of their mining operations as part of Odin and Laufey's deal over Loki, and now where the more country/redneck-ish Asgardians and Jotuns come to live and work for weeks/months at a time. The people are vastly more friendly to him there, at least.
But, apart from that and Laufey desperately trying to catch up and get to know his long lost son, Loki spends most of his time being sad and alone in his bedroom, wishing he could see and talk to Thor again.
Meanwhile, Asgard has become one massive puddle.
The first week after Loki left Thor was just in shock. He kept walking to Loki's empty room and the library and all the little corners and quiet spots Loki used to hide out in. It didn't seem real that Loki was just gone, and that he was somehow supposed to just forget their entire childhood together. He couldn't fathom it.
And then, out of nowhere, The Anger comes. He creates a massive storm that he couldn't control even if he wanted to and it lasts for weeks. He barely sleeps or eats, never leaves his room. Odin manages to be smart enough for once to not bother him, but Frigga eventually risks venturing into his hurricane destroyed bedroom to prod him into committing a little treason for True Love and helpfully informs him about the bridge that they use to send the Asgardian miners to and from Jotunheim, and how crazy would it be if Thor dressed extra casual one day and happened to get a bit lost traversing the countryside and accidentally found his way on to that bridge and got sent over to Jotunheim? That would be so fucking weird, right???
(And what if Thor happened to get there right at the start of Jotunheim's summer when the sky becomes a big swirl of pink and purple and orange for that one month or so and it's conveniently the same time that Jotun's become fertile and they celebrate with a massive festival where they harvest one of their land's 2 or 3 flowers that they make into a tea and works as an aphrodisiac and that the Asgardians have figured out how to turn into a moonshine-esque liquor that is even more potent than the tea and Loki and Thor have no idea about any of this they just know that they've been apart for too long and that they need each other in every way imaginable and they need these clothes off RIGHT NOW.)

I saw in the Norse mythology Sif (Thor’s wife) had her hair cut off by Loki, and Thor made Loki give her a wig made with the most beautiful gold strands! Could you do a Thor x Sif reader? Like how you did Ares x Eos reader? Where Sif reader was crying because she thinks she’s ugly without hair? Please and thank you!

“Take your hood off.”
Thor had made it back from his days long journey and couldn’t wait to see his wife again. Upon his return, Thor noticed his wife wearing a hood. Usually, Thor wouldn’t mind his wife wearing such a thing but it had been days since he saw her and he couldn’t see her really with hood. (Name) was reluctant to do so and when she spoke her words caused Thor great concern as it was a signal she was upset.
Thor repeated himself, “Take off your hood.” When his beautiful wife did so the usual calm Thor was surprised to see his wife had lost all of her hair, her beautiful hair was shaved off with tears falling down obviously heartbroken. Thor asked what happened and from what his wife told him she had simply taken a nap waking up to find her hair had been shaved.
Thor’s anger was anything but quiet as thunder roared throughout the sky shaking up Valhalla.
“I’ll find out who did this.”
Before he did so, Thor kissed her forehead and told her that she still looked beautiful and that his feeling wouldn’t change for it was not her appearance that he loved but her a person. Thor even gently wiped her tears away, easing her sadness (Name) sniffled as she smiled at how gentle Thor could be when he wanted. So, the two left together to see Odin to find out as he was the all father and once the two arrived and told what happened Odin told them it was indeed Loki.
Finding out Thor made his known he would find Loki and slay him for his deed, but Odin convinced Thor that wasn’t necessary and that he would summon Loki and make things right. Once Odin called Loki forth the trickster did so and upon his arrival he could tell his “prank” didn’t go over so well as he looked at Thor who was seething with rage, then looking at Odin who and saw the sternness in his face and of course a saddened expression upon (Name)’s face.
Smiling, Loki knew he had to make amends now for the wrong he had done to (Name). Thor’s beloved wife and when Odin told Loki it was his mission to restore (Name)’s beautiful hair to her former glory. Smiling, Loki agreed to do so his quick mind already thinking how he could restore (Name)‘s hair back.
“I guess my little joke didn’t go over so well.”
Loki casually mentioned which only angered Thor as lightning struck near by making Loki wave his hands in surrender that he was going as he created a portal transporting himself to Svartheim. While he did so, Thor and (Name) spent time together in Asgard. Thor wanted (Name) to take her hood as he couldn’t see her face but he understood and didn’t fuss about it.
When they slept together Thor would rub the top of her head as to comfort her, Nordic beliefs was indeed the longer your was the more powerful one was. Thor kept his wife close and told her to sleep and that no one else would mess with her when she slept. Being a god of protection and her husband (Name) truly believed him and fell asleep quickly.
When Loki returned, the trickster god was still met with Odin’s sternness and Thor’s rage. Loki met each one with a humorous smile upon his face as he told everyone had fixed everything revealing a long locks of the finest gold and once Thor saw the bright smile upon his beloved’s wife face his rage turned to a calm happiness. The golden locks were long and beyond beautiful and shined brightly as bright as (Name)’s smile.
“Thor! Look! Isn’t it beautiful.”
“Yes, I’m impressed.”
Thor calmly spoke as he touched the golden silken locks impressed by the work, Hugninn and Muninn hide themselves in the golden locks giving compliments about how beautiful it was. Odin nodded his head that he believed Loki had righted his wrong, The bright smile had returned to (Name)’s face and Thor’s rage had subsided is what made Odin was all Odin needed to see.
Loki smiled as he glad everyone liked the gift and when (Name) gave him hug Loki knew Thor was going to let him get away. As the days passed, Everyone complimented (Name)’s hair from the valkyries to all the gods of Asgard.
Thor could be protective and he was protective of his beloved’s hair. Especially since people wanted to touch it as it was so beautiful, however Thor wouldn’t let them. Telling them “Hands to yourself.” And that matter was settled.
As the only person (Name) wanted to touch her hair was her beloved husband.
A smiling Loki did offer to give her a hair cut as her golden hair was touching the ground, but (Name) refused. Instead smiling in a prideful and teasing manner saying “Thor loves the long golden hair. Rather he likes to pull on it.”
“Barf!”
Loki exclaimed as he stuck out his tongue as he got what (Name) telling him as (Name) kept her smile, Loki didn’t ask again to cut her hair.

Asgard 2013
Warnings: Loki's dirty thoughts about  Astri, Loki talking about his life with Thanos.
For someone who had been locked up for weeks, Loki looked a little too desirable. His deep voice was soothing as he read the book he had chosen for tonight. Astri had long ago stopped focusing on the words and was admiring him through the yellow barrier that separated them. His hair was a bit curlier today than it had been yesterday, Astri wondered if he had done it like that on purpose. The green leather and golden armor he normally donned was gone and in its place was a softer more comfortable-looking outfit, perfect for the lounging that took up his days.
"You aren't listening," Loki said suddenly
   "Sure I am." She lied
"I chose a romance book because I thought you'd enjoy it." Loki sighed
"And why would I enjoy a romance book?" Astri asked
"I thought most females enjoyed romance books." He reasoned
"How stereotypical of you, Loki." Astri smiled
"Well if you don't want to read what do you want to do? Our options are limited given I'm stuck in here." He said, snapping the book shut
Astri thought about what they could do with Loki stuck in a cell. The idea of trying to push her way through the golden barrier crossed her mind, sure her magic might be strong enough but was Odin's rath worth it? Astri wasn't quite sure.
"How about we just sit and talk?" Astri suggested
She took Loki's silence as agreement and began the conversation.
"What do miss now that you're stuck here?"
   "Everything," Loki admitted
"If you had to pick one thing," Astri said
"I guess I'd choose...the stars. It was always peaceful looking out my balcony at night when the stars shone. I wish I could experience it again." He chose
"Interesting choice." Astri complimented, standing up
"Where are you going?" Loki asked
"To my chambers. I'll see you another time." She explained as she walked away
She could hear Loki scampering to find a reason for her to stay longer, even offering to never choose a romance book again for them to read together. Astri was glad that he had chosen something simple for her to bring to him, had he chosen something like conquering Midgard that would have made her idea much harder. Now, all she had to do was figure out how to get through that damn gold barrier.
Loki didn't see Astri for the rest of the week, the only signal that she wasn't angry with him was the romance book she had sent to him via a guard who had handed him a note to go with it.
Thor's lady, Jane, says men who read romance books are hopeless romantics themselves.
Was he a hopeless romantic? Surely not. They were just means of entertainment for him after all he had a higher purpose that he'd someday fulfill. Astri's analysis was wrong. Speaking of Astri, where the hell was she? She had said she'd see him again but didn't give a date or a time and it was driving him mad. The only other real interaction he'd had since she left earlier this week was with Frigga who projected herself to his cell. Sure, it felt like she was close to him but it hurt when he'd try to reach for her only for his hands to slip right through. Loki loved Frigga deeply but he yearned for Astri's sharp remarks and how she'd immediately call him on his lies.
He wondered what she'd be wearing the next time she entered the dungeons. Perhaps a lilac dress? She had been in a pale pink the last time they spoke. Of course, he'd love if she wore the blue one she had that had white lace embroidered on it, that one was his favorite. The way it accentuated what she thought was hidden so well under the fabric was perfectly sinful. Astri's figure had been on Loki's mind a lot recently. Initially, he thought it was because of being stuck here and the fact that she was going through his mind at night. But it had continued the entire week and he hadn't seen her at all. Sure, it could have been her going through his mind but that didn't explain why he thought of her even during the day. He'd spend time reading or drawing and find his mind wandering to her what her lips would taste like. He had smelled the stuff she put on them once, it smelled like fruits, would she taste like it too? Loki's mind spiraled more as he wondered what she'd look like if he slipped his hand up her skirt and into the apex between her thighs. He'd love to pin her down on the bed he was sitting on now and press his face between those same thighs until she screamed from overstimulation. He wondered about what she'd look like above him, gasping in pleasure as she took what had always been hers.  Loki wanted to be able to press a kiss to every inch of Astri's body and yet here he sat, imprisoned while she flitted about in the castle about him.
   "Good, you're still awake."
Astri. Finally, she showed. Loki's hands fumbled with the pillow beside him as he placed it quickly over his lap. It was so late what was she doing down here now?
"Well don't be shy, get up and greet me properly." She commanded
Loki eyed her arms which were overflowing with a bundled-up blanket and a big wicker basket. Ordinarily, he would've risen to greet her but his half-hard cock wasn't something she'd want greeting her so he stayed put.
"Fine, be rude." Astri huffed, pushing the blanket and basket through the small weakness in the yellow shield that was meant for delivering his meals. "You'll be thanking be after this."
Loki's eyes widened as Astri's closed. A soft blue hue covered her body as she took a step towards the shield.
"What are you doing? The guards will-" Loki stopped his words as Astri phased right through what was penning him in. "When did you learn to do that?"
"What do you think I've been spending my week doing?" She smiled crossing the cell to get to him
Loki wasn't expecting a warm hug but he welcomed it anyway.
"I can't believe you tried conquering Midgard," Astri said pulling away and giving him a hard shove
No sooner had he opened his mouth to explain his glorious purpose than Astri had slapped her hand over it, shutting him up entirely.
"You can talk about glorious purpose later. I have a surprise." She smiled, turning around and laying the blanket on the ground.
"What are you doing? You do realize this is a dungeon...how did you get past the guards?" He asked suddenly curious
"A cloaking spell." She smiled and began unpacking her basket which as it turned out was full of food.
"So you're here to have a midnight picnic with me?" Loki asked finally standing up
"No, silly. You said you missed the stars, so I brought them here." Astri smiled pulling him down on the blanket with her.
Loki decided to indulge her desires and got comfortable beside her. His hand reached for a grape as Astri snapped her fingers beside him. The area around them dimmed and the ceiling of the once bleak cell was transformed into a brilliant light show. The other cells disappeared as Astri's magic took over and seemingly wrapped them in their own little bubble. The stars twinkled and danced in front of Loki's eyes as he observed what she had done for him.
"Do you like it? I know it's not the stars from your balcony but it's the best I can do right now." She said
"I love it." He smiled, looking at her
"Good...I also brought some food." Astri awkwardly pointed out
"Yes, I see, thank you. " He said genuinely
They sat in awkward silence as Loki tried to think of something to say to the girl next to him. This was the first time they had been physically in front of each other in weeks. His hands itched to take hers in them, they looked impossibly small as she picked at the skin beside her nails.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Astri asked suddenly
"I bed your pardon?" Loki asked, confused.
"You knocked me out, destroyed Joutunheim, then let go and fell who knows where after Odin woke up and tried to help you and Thor." She explained
"Is that what they told you happened?" He laughed
"Yes. I want an explanation, now." She demanded, reaching to poke at his ribs, an oddly ticklish spot for him
"There was no point in staying behind. There still isn't anything for me here on Asgard, my rotting in this dungeon proves it. I have never and will never be essential to the house of Odin." He said
"Nothing here for him he says." Astri sighed "What about me? Or Frigga? During the year you were off gathering an army did you ever think about what we were feeling?"
Loki felt his anger boiling in his stomach. Did Astri think he was off galavanting across the galaxy, feasting war generals so he could use their troops to win Midgard?
"Do you honestly think I was living my best possible life after I left here? What do you think I was doing all that time?" He snarled, upset that Astri was only talking about her and his 'mother'.
"I've wondered every night what you were doing where you were but you never speak of it." Astri said
She had him there.
"Have you ever heard the name Thanos?" Loki asked, he felt his hands shaking. Why is he telling her this? Stop it. Send her away, yell at her to go back to her room, and push her away.
"I've heard it, in whispers from travelers and reports from across the galaxy, Odin has mentioned him." She said, Loki could feel her eyes on him, his gaze cast at his lap.
"After I let go I ended up in a place called the Sanctuary. I met Thanos there. He offered me control of Midgard in return for the Tesseract." He said shakily.
"What more? Months after you went missing, I kept trying to find you, and one night I did, or I think I did. You were suffering heat or something was being used." Astri said gently brushing her hand along his shoulder.
"He uh...He, Thanos used a tremendous amount of heat to buy my submission." Loki said, shutting his eyes. "Frost Giants can burn as it turns out."
Loki felt Astri's hand rubbing at his back and her chin resting on his shoulder.
"After I had submitted to his whims, he used the Mind Stone, one of the Infinity Stones to do his bidding. After that, he sent me to Midgard, Infinity stone in hand." He said, "It remains there, those Avengers have it."
Loki heard Astri let out a soft hum of confirmation next to him. Minutes passed and Loki dared open his eyes when he felt Astri shift beside him.
"I want you to know something, Loki." Astri said hooking a finger under his chin so he'd look at her "You are good. You always have been even if can't see it.
Their noses brushed as Loki's eyes fluttered shut again. He felt hot tears run down his face at Astri's words. Damn it why did he always cry when he wanted to express emotion?
"Thank you, Astri. I don't feel that way, though." Loki said his eyes opening to meet Astri's whose face was close to his.
"You will. One day." She reassured
Astri was indescribably warm as she pressed her forehead to his. Their breaths mingled as Loki took her hands in his.
"I missed you. There wasn't anyone to read with or joke with." She admitted
"You could have with Fandral." Loki smiled
"Oh please, Fandral reading?" Astri scoffed
"True, I think he'd rather chop off his right arm than pick up a book," Loki said, sitting up and pulling away from her slightly.
Astri's hands broke from his, and she grabbed at his shirt, pulling back towards her.
   "Wait." She murmured
   "What is it?" Loki asked
Astri's face grew redder the more Loki looked at her.
"Don't you have something to say? You told me to wait." He teased
   "I just..."
Come on, say what's going through that pretty head.
"I like it when you're close to me." She whispered as if it were a secret.
"I it like when you're close too," Loki admitted, reaching out and twirling a strand of  her hair around his finger
Astri let out an amused giggle and leaned closer.
"Guess I should stay nearby then."
Loki had no complaints about that statement and nodded in agreement. Astri's scent invaded his nose, it was exactly as he remembered. Fruity yet flowery at the same time, and yet it wasn't too overpowering. He watched as her tongue appeared, slightly wetting her lips, it was like she was trying to tempt him into touching her.
"What're you thinking about?" Astri asked
   "You," Loki said
Astri barely had enough time to crack a smile at his admission. Loki knew what was next, a smart comment about how she was always dancing around in his mind. So, he stopped it in what he thought was the cleverest way possible and brushed his lips on hers. They tasted of fruit just like he had imagined for so many years. Astri had let out a small squeak of surprise when Loki had leaned in but now, he felt her smiling into their kiss. Smaller arms wrapped around his shoulders as she let out a laugh, breaking away for air.
"What was that?" She breathlessly asked
"You said you liked it when I was close." He said a wide smile on his face.
Astri tossed her head back with a laugh and Loki felt his own laugh bubbling up through his stomach and out his mouth. He felt Astri's hands playing with the hairs at the nape of his neck, her nimble fingers pushed through his dark strands and a shudder ran down his spine. Their lips met again, this time with Astri initiating. Loki gently cupped her face as he felt her invade all of his senses, her presence was casting an unbreakable spell on him and he gladly welcomed it with open arms, after all, it was all he could ever dream of.
Hehe first kiss for Loki and Astri.

Golden Crush - Heimdall
i just have to write something since i saw that one beautiful pic of heimdall reading, i dont have the pic nor do i remember which lovely ppl posted that sorry
also merry christmas!!
also's also idk whats wrong with me having the urge to write every time when its super late and my eyes half closed fml
Pairing: Heimdall x reader
Word count: 1545
Warning: no proofread goodnight!
<Your POV>
He's the most beautiful god you've ever seen.
You're not sure how you started to feel this way, but it's too late now- not like you're looking to change your mind anyways.
You love staying away and stealing glances when he's around, knowing he's either feeling bored, or enjoying belittling someone, or trying to impress the All-father. You tell yourself this works out perfectly- having a crush on a god with a stick up his ass that absolutely no one likes- means you won't fall in love with him. You don't need to fall in love, there are things far more important like, life, and living one.
You were tasked to clean up Odin's hall that afternoon when everyone was out training. So you went, pushed open the heavy door with your back, with your arms full with a half-filled bucket, a rug and a broom, humming a tune you made up.
You froze when you saw him sitting by one of the tables, reading.
The golden sunlight poured in and he bathed in it. You watched his braids shimmering in the light with his slight movements, purple eyes focusing on the pages, slender fingers breaking a piece of cheese next to him and gently pushing it between his thin lips-
"Ahem."
You blinked.
Those eyes were looking right at you.
"These tables aren't going to clean themselves." he had a slight frown on his face.
" -! Yes, sorry." you quickly averted your gaze and rushed to the tables furthest away from him, flustered.
Did you stare for too long? How long? Did he get a read on you? Did he know?
Your mind was such a mess that you didn't even know if you were doing your job right. You tried to focus on what you were doing with your back turned towards him, but you couldn't help but feel the burn on your back.
You didn't know if you want to take as long as possible to clean this side of the table- risking him putting his attention on you and getting scolded again, or getting it done as soon as you can- and move on to the table he's sitting at and risk getting his attention again. But all cleaning has to come to an end.
You squeezed the cloth dry and took a deep breath, mentally preparing yourself to move on to the table he was at. You turned around- someone was standing right behind you.
Water in the bucket splashed out with your sudden stopping, drenching your shirt.
He of course was right out of the zone of dirty cloth water.
"Indolent and clumsy, tell me, who decided that it would be wise to let you clean for the All-father?" he took a disgusted glance at the dirty puddle at your feet.
"I, I'm sorry..." You panicked, quickly kneeled down to clean up the mess you made. He crouched down, watched for a second, then snatched your wrist. You weren't sure what was the purpose of that, did you do something wrong again?
Before you could form a reaction, he suddenly leaned in and pressed his lips upon yours.
Your eyes widen, frozen in place, staring back at those sparkly purple eyes.
<Heimdall's POV>
At first, it was simply curiosity.
He was passing through the training ground, and felt something different. He had to do another glance-around to figure out where it came from, then saw you quickly turned away.
He wasn't sure what it was. Usually people's intentions towards him were very clear, it's either fear, frustration, jealousy or any sort of hostility. This was something new.
He started doing his own little experiments. Taking paths he didn't normally take, engaging in activities he didn't have to take part in, putting himself in the center of the attention, or hiding away in the corner... Then he was finally confident to come to the conclusion that you only have that weird emotion when he's around, and you only react to him.
Of course he had read it before, sometimes from teenagers hiding away in the back side of the houses, sometimes in the hall between some einherjars... Never towards him. Which intrigued him even more.
He felt your presence immediately when you pushed your way into the hall. He felt you staring. And somehow it became very hard to suppress a smile. He couldn't pay attention to what he was reading anymore, instead he kept listening to what you were doing. He found himself getting impatient at how slow you were cleaning that one row of tables.
He didn't even fully comprehend what happened when he's been shoved and fell backward onto the ground. He heard you running away and the door of the hall closing behind you.
What went wrong? Did he read you wrong?- No, impossible, he is the God of Foresight, he'll never read anyone wrong. Confusion soon turned into anger. Did you just reject him? How dare you?
He wanted answers. But you were nowhere to be found. For days, he patrolled everywhere he had seen you, but he couldn't find you, not even sense you.
It was at a huge drinking party where he found you- in the corner, serving people.
A sense of success washed over him before he swiftly parted the crowd to stand before you- and the somewhat cheery feeling slid away when he saw your warm smile turned into an awkward grin.
What's the intention he's getting now?
He heard you mumble something before slipping away into the crowd, eyes never meeting his.
And what's this feeling in the pit of his stomach?
<Your POV>
You've been avoiding him since the day he kissed you.
You still weren't sure what happened, a part of you thought it was all just a dream. Perhaps you thought about him too often. It couldn't have been true, no, it would be more likely that you approached him and assaulted him... On second thought, it could be exactly that. You took advantage of the Asier god and twisted the memory in your head...
Most likely he already knew your feelings towards him. That's why. He's always been a jerk, he just wanna make fun of you. Or perhaps you did something and that's his way of punishing you?...
Either way, it's better that you keep your distance.
It took you a lot of effort to stay out of the way. You saw him showing up at all the places you had to be, and had to take a hard turn and duck out of his sight. But you couldn't run forever.
You found him outside, at the back of the drinking hall, drunk.
It got you worried because he was never drunk. But he was, here, slouching against the wall.
"...Heimdall?" you approached carefully.
"...Look who's here," he raised his empty mug, "Pour me another drink!"
"You're quite drunk." you tried to take his mug away. "Aren't you here to serve? Serve!" he raised his voice, swatting your hand away.
You stood there, staring at him.
"...What is that?..." he squinted his eyes, "Is that pity?... How dare you..." he tried to stand upright, but the moment he left the support of the wall he started leaning right. You quickly step forward, held onto his arm, and helped him lean back against the wall.
"...How dare you change your mind..." he mumbled. "I'm sorry?" you gently took the mug from his hand. "You!" he frowned, "Don't you like me?"
You nervously gripped the mug with both of your hands, "...So you do know..." eyes fixed on the rim of the empty mug, "...Did you, kiss me just to mock me?"
"..."
You waited, but there's no response. You raised your gaze and met those purple eyes.
"...Your eyes are beautiful." he said, almost in a whisper.
"...What?"
"...Don't change it." he took a step towards you, wobbly. "...Change what?" "What you feel, towards me." he leaned forward, putting his arms around you, "It's quite nice..." resting his head on your shoulder, "...And stop running..." his words ended up slurred. You froze, feeling his weight on you.
"...Heimdall?"
No response.
He already fell asleep, standing.
<Morning>
You woke up with a pleasant sigh, eyes closed, feeling the warmth of the sun caressing your face, hearing the chirp outside the window
And a low chuckle.
Your eyes shot open.
The Aesir god was laying next to you, one arm supporting his head. The morning sunlight gently fell upon him, on his golden braids, his perfect skin, leaving sparkles in his purple eyes.
"Mornin' sunshine."
...Is this a dream?
"Who knew y/n would seduce a drunken god-"
Your hands reacted faster than your thoughts, pressing firmly over his mouth, "Nothing happened! You fell asleep! I can't just leave you there!" you quickly explained.
"Tell yourself whatever you want." he gently pulled your hands down, "It's too late now."
"...What?" you couldn't take your eyes off of him, as he was bathing in the swirling golden particles.
"I will let the whole Asgard know, that y/n got me drunk to lay with me." "-! That's not true! I-" He smirked, gave you a soft kiss on your forehead.
He whispered against your skin, "Now you can never run away from me."

Hi! I hope your doing okay! Can I please request a Ubuyashiki Kagaya!Reader From demon slayer and how the gods and humans would react to such a kind and gentle person. I feel like them and Adam and Sasaki would get along very good. Please and thank you!
-With the rising threat of demons in Valhalla, the gods and humans of Ragnarok, after being returned to life thanks to a selfless wish, they needed expert help.
-The Demon Slayer Corps worked under the supervision of Hades, but the leader of the corps was actually a young adult, you.
-You were brought to Valhalla in your prime, right when your curse took your eyes, making it unable to see your partner or your children again, but every now and then, on sunny days, you could see small glimpses of things, like trees.
-The Hashira and Demon Slayer Corp members welcomed the gods and humans warmly to the massive home base of the Demon Slayers, to discuss what to do, now that Muzan was bringing his strongest back to life and releasing his demons on the citizens, gods and humans, of Valhalla.
-Between the hard work of the Corps and the warriors, several of Muzan’s strongest have been dealt with, leaving only the strongest few, including Muzan himself.
-Many were optimistic about handling him because they managed to do it once, they could to it again, and with history’s strongest warriors and gods besides them, everyone believed this threat could be handled.
-A gentle voice then spoke up, “Don’t not get overconfident, I have lost many to that.” Spooking everyone, the Hashira and anyone affiliated with the Demon Slayer Corps, minus Hades, all dropped down, kneeling.
-From the main house came a young adult, a dark scar covering the top part of your face and several other areas of your body, like your left hand. Your hands were being held by two of your daughters, leading out into the sunshine.
-Hades stunned everyone by bowing his head to you, greeting you and introducing you as the true leader of the Demon Slayer corps, while he just oversaw the operation.
-You turned your head in Hades’ direction, greeting him with a soft smile. You were so gentle, so soothing, totally unlike someone who was the supreme leader of the Demon Slayer Corps!
-You ignored the whispers from those who did not know you, hearing their questions and concerns over your curse.
-A bright, warm voice then called out, “Y/N~ it’s nice to meet you again!” your smile was so warm when you heard Kojiro, who approached and stunned all, except your children, by embracing you, giving you a firm hug, showing your close friendship with Kojiro.
-Thanks to the samurai, he was able to break the tension, and everyone relaxed, and you got to meet several other gods and strong warriors.
-A warm hand enveloped yours, shaking your hand and he introduced himself as Adam, you felt a serene sort of energy around him, one that made you feel safe as well.
-Adam was immediately drawn to you, sensing your pain, but seeing you being a doting father, treating your daughters gently, and seeing how gentle you were with the other warriors, especially your Hashira and warriors, he felt a sort of kinship with you.
-Zerofuku was a bright god, his energy radiating warmth to you, as he sat next to you, asking you all sorts of questions about the Demon Slayers, he was like a curious child, but you were so patient with him, treating him like he was one of your own.
-You heard your own children playing outside with Zerofuku a short while later, getting the children out while you spoke with Odin and Zeus, as well as Hades, Rengoku, Kojiro, Adam, and Gyomei, discussing the looming threat of Muzan and what could be done.
-While others in the meeting got more heated, to the point of yelling, you always remained calm and collected, and stunned everyone when you spoke, that you were able to calm all of them down so easily, which did help as it cleared their heads and made it easier to plan.
-Your offer of weakening Muzan by how you killed him back on earth, via suicide bomb, was quickly vetoed, and you were surprised by all those in the Demon Slayer Corps had been the ones to yell, along with your children.
-The gods and warriors watched as you hugged and doted on each of them, soothing them and apologizing for your words, as they were all upset, not wanting to lose you again, saying there were other ways!
-Kojiro smiled softly at you as Adam was stunned by your devotion to help your children, all of them, even if they were older than you and not related, just like him, they were all your children.
-You truly were an amazing person.

"made of gold"
- Heimdall short about braiding his hair, this idea has been in fandom for a quite time
Summary: gender neutral reader, reader is simping, Heimdall is chilling
Warnings: very short, bad English
Tumblr media
"It wasn't a request. I'm telling that you will do it", Heimdall said, not even looking at you.
He took a chair and moved it, sitting with his back to you. It doesn't seem like he would take a "no" as an answer.
You were standing right behind him, still in a little shock.
"Wha- But, you really want me to do this?", it sounded stupid, but you had to be sure.
"Don't make me repeat myself..." he spat, visibly irritated.
That felt weird. Really weird. You even suspected a some kind of trick, but no, you knew he was serious. Besides, if he was really planning something, he would done it openly. This guy would announce that you're going to die.
Yet you couldn't help, but just felt embarrassment coming from him. A cocky God like him asking you, someone far below for braiding his hair? But he just did and it got you surprisingly excited.
"Aren't you scared that I will.. Do something. My hands will be close to your eyes...", you chuckle, taking a step forward.
He tilted his head slightly back to look at you, messy strand of hair fell on his face, "Try your luck, sunshine, but I will feed to Gulltoppr".
So cold. You sighed deeply. He sure struggled at this moment. Always ready to insult you in the most savage, but fancy way thinking that he is so funny, yet couldn't take a little tease at this very moment. What a shame.
It got you even more excited. You giggle in mind. You find something cute in this situation. Maybe it was him trying to act so unphased or that from all people from Asgard he chose you.
Wait. Did you just thought he was cute? And you actually wanted to do him a favor? Damn. Even in moment of his weakness he's catching you off guard.
But let's be honest, his hair were always so perfect and well-groomed. Blond and shiny like gold. Always out of your reach. You were so curious about them. No wonder you felt like a child in candy store.
"Fine, I will do it", you tried to hide your enthusiasm. "You are in good hands".
"Be useful for once", he shut down your positivity.
Without reply you got right into your task. You touched his hair. So soft! And thick, and healthy, and woah! You were amazed. Those were really a God's hair. You could touch them all day!
You started to braid them and you lost yourself in thoughts. This morning you saw him without his usual hairstyle. Heimdall walked into your place with loose hair. He didn't tied them in a ponytail, he just let them fell on his face. He... Screw this, yes, this idiot looked quite handsome.
You realized that you didn't ask him why he came to you. This was his hairstyle for years, why he needs you to do it today? Did his usual person couldn't? You thought about Sif, but you wasn't sure if she'd really wanted to have something to do with this guy besides work for Odin.
You slap yourself in mind. Thinking too much in presence of Heimdall wasn't the best idea. But then it hits you. He hasn't said a word.
You focused so much that you didn't notice how quiet he was. No comment about your hand slipping a few times, nothing about you messed up two braids. Complete silence.
You looked at his shoulders. They seem'd to be pretty relaxed. Were he... sleeping?! You wanted to take a quick look at his face, bo you didn't dare. You enjoyed your peace. But he had to be asleep! You smirked. For some reason it felt good knowing that he is so relaxed and chill around you (at least for now).
Time flies and in a blink of an eye you had finished your work. You smiled, hot red on your face. You were proud of yourself beacuse it looked good. Fine piece of work.
"Aaaaand done!", you laugh, placing your both hands on your hips.
After a moment Heimdall get up, looking straight into your bright eyes. You knew he wanted to immediately read your mind, but you had nothing to hide besides the truth!
"Don't flatter yourself", he said as his face turned a little red. You knew he read it all. He carefuly touched his hair, checking up your work.
"I must say, you finally did something good, I'm happy for your progress", you could feel the irony in his voice, but you didn't care. You were still smiling, admiring your own work... or maybe him too. He looked as good as always.
"And don't count on any payment", you didn't at all. Hard to admit, but you did it with pleasure. And he knew that for sure, "Maybe I will treat you a fine drink tonight, but only if I will be in a good mood".
You shake your head. Your heart was beating faster than usual. What was happening to you? Stay calm, please.
He turned and started walking towards the door. You had to admit-- it was quite-
"-enjoyable", Heimdall thought, starting his daily patrol on the wall.

CANTO 6 PART 3 SPOILERS
Im beyond pissed, tumblr crashed in the middle of me doing this so this is going to be so much shorter than I want it to be. NON RYOSHU RELATED POST ABOUT THE HEATHCLIFF. DON'T TAKE WHAT I SAY AS FACT I AM NOT QUALIFIED FOR THIS. LOOK AT THE LINKS I CITE FOR MORE INFORMATION! You can click them when their mentioned. Im not citing in the proper format. This was done on 5 hours of sleep, two eggs, and a box of banana milk.
youtube
The Erlkonig or Erlking is this figure in German Mythology who kidnapps children. When he touches you, he kills you. This poem made by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe then adapted to this song is what you see. Erlkoning Heathcliff is trying to intice Heathcliff to die by telling him that it's his fault Cathy is dead. All identities refer to the sinner as "child" when you look into their uptie stories. Mili and the singer of the video here use the same technique of changing the tone and pitch of their voice to differntiate two characters.
The Wild Hunt is a part of Norse Mythology where Odin, mounted on his sixed legged horse Sleipnir, goes through the forest. According to norse-mythology.org, anyone who gets caught up in The Wild Hunt, spotted or seen, gets carried away. Your soul will get incorporated into The Wild Hunt. We all know Erlking Heathcliff did, the rising of the bodies. The Wild Hunt is also mostly describe as having hounds, and who was a hound? Hindleys.
From the same website, on the page of Sleipnir reads,
Tumblr media
Also, the horse that heath rides on has a weird liney pattern on it's 4 legs that kind of look like that runestone. There's more connection here, I just don't want to type it again.
How did Project Moon mix two diffrent mythological ideas together? (Its not just two, they mixed so many more.) Meet human mistranslation and the progression of oral tradition and story telling throught time. I don't kno where to start. There was mistranslation poem when, according to ancient-origins.net Johann Gottfried Herder wrote a seperate ballad from the one I linked at the start called Erlkönigs Tochter.
The Anglo-Saxons were early German settlers. This is where things get messy because I have several more potential leaders of the Wild Hunt but here are two, King Herla and Herne The Hunter.
Herne The Hunter: Popularized by Shakespeare potentially from a play called The Merry Wives of Windsor. This man called Jacobb Grimm said that Hene The Hunter was related to Odin. Herne the hunter is this ghost. ( https://mythopedia.com/topics/herne-the-hunter ) Im trying to say there are other media that connect the Erlking to the Wild Hunt but its on Wikipedia so it makes it seem fishy. Another Link Here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Herla: A british king who attended a dwarf wedding. When he left the wedding, the world had changed. Unbeknowst to him, 300 years had passed and he was claimed to be missing. When his men tried to get off their horses, they turned into dust so they were stuck like that. Read it here, its short. Someone better and more credible than me summed the story up better than I did, historian Chrissy Senecal. Read right here. An additional link to cross refrence if you'd like. King Herla and Odin got conflated together when really, their diffrent people
I found this other website article about Wild Hunts which kind of brings me to the next thing, the Harlequinn. They weild clubs, their devils, the image of them is popularly joyful? Maybe goofy and lighthearted? Perhaps associated with cards? Matt, or Heathcliff's portrayal of Matt. Now, I'm looking at Wikipedia and I see this section.
Tumblr media
What do we have here? A mention of the Erlkönig, Dante's Inferno, masked, club weilding giant. Heathcliff's not giant but hes pretty tall, at least by my standards but whatever, im very short. DANTE'S INFERNO, Canto 11 and 12. What the fuck Project Moon, are you playing 5d chess?
Back on topic, Hellequin is the fairy king, and this figure pops up in German, French, Italian, and English folklore. I can't do proper research when all my search results are mixed with random junk and I'm becoming nutty. You will not normally be able to access this article without paying but here's the link anyways. Journal Article from this book on a section about horned deities made in 1922 speaks of a group of ghost riding, who are also huntsman.
Tumblr media
And also another mention of Dante's Inferno. The name, Herne The Hunter is mentioned again.
All and all, The link between The Erlkonig and The Wild Hunt isn't as wild and unexplainable as I originally thought. It's just so cool to see all these concepts intersect. There still so much to touch upon like the headless horseman refrence and the Dullahans, RYOSHU COMPARING THE WILD HUNT TO THE PARADE OF 100 SPIRTS, something along that line, I forgot the name. I'm just not the right person to yell about this but I will anyways. The writers mixed so many symbols of death into one character. Such a wild and nutty Canto. Thank you so much Project Moon.
