On 9th April 1747 Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, the leading Scottish Jacobite rebel was beheaded on Tower Green.
A longer post than normal from me as in my opinion Simon Fraser was one of the most interesting characters in Jacobite history. A man of contrary, he was known to be very kind to the lesser clansmen taking a paternal interest in their affairs. A quote regarding him says that….“Generally he had a bag of farthings for when he walked abroad the contents of which he distributed among any beggars whom he met. He would stop a man on the road; inquire how many children he had; offer him sound advice; and promise to redress his grievances if he had any”
In his own estimate, he took care his clansmen were ‘always well-clothed and well-armed, after the Highland fashion, and not to suffer them to wear low-country clothes’ Lovat was also a brute of a man forcing a young woman into marriage and raping her in an attempt to legitimise the union. Lovat has become more well know lately thanks to Outlander, where in their world he is grandfather to the main protagonist Jamie Fraser and played brilliantly by the fine Scottish actor Clive Russell. Back in the real world he has been in the news in the recent past, I shall cover that at the end of this post.
Born in 1667 into the ancient clan who fought with distinction in the Wars of Independence – Sir Simon Fraser was one of the co-victors of the Battle of Roslin and his sons were close friends of Robert the Bruce, Alexander marrying Bruce’s sister Mary – Simon was the second son of Thomas Fraser of Beaufort who was closely related to Lord Hugh Fraser of Lovat, chief of clan Fraser.
Simon became his father’s heir when his elder brother was killed fighting alongside Bonnie Dundee against the forces of King William III at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689. He was still nowhere near being clan chief, however, and took himself off to Aberdeen University from which he graduated in 1695. Lord Hugh Fraser, the 9th Lord Lovat, was a weak man who unexpectedly signed over the clan leadership to Simon’s father in 1696.
Lord John Murray, Earl of Tullibardine and the most powerful man in Scotland, disputed the succession and fell out spectacularly with Simon in Edinburgh. The young Fraser hothead duly went north to Castle Dounie to try and persuade Hugh’s widow Amelia to give him the hand of her daughter, also Amelia, in a dynastic marriage that would seal his succession. Tullibardine was having none of it and moved his niece to the Murray stronghold, Blair Castle, where he planned to marry her off to Alexander Fraser, heir to the Lordship of Saltoun.
Simon retaliated by kidnapping Alexander and frightening him away, and to make matters worse in October, 1697, he went back to Castle Dounie and forced the widow Amelia into a sham wedding, raping her to consummate the “marriage”.
Tullibardine ensured Simon and his father were declared outlaws and when old Thomas died in 1699, Simon was unable to legally claim his title as 11th Lord Lovat which later passed to one Alexander Mackenzie who had legally married the younger Amelia.
Simon Fraser somehow managed to persuade King William that he was no threat, despite having his own personal army, and he was pardoned in 1700, only to be declared an outlaw again the following year over the forced marriage and rape.
Simon went off to the court of the Stuarts in France where he devised the plans that were eventually used in the 1715 and 1745 uprisings. Long before the former, however, Simon was double dealing, giving Queen Anne information about the plans of James, the Old Pretender. He was found out and King Louis XIV clapped him in jail for three years.
Even after he was released he was prevented from travelling to Scotland and thus missed the Act of Union which he opposed.
Still desperate to get his Lovat title and the chieftainship of his clan back, Simon sided with the forces of the new King, George I, during the ’15, and was given back his title as a reward, with Alexander Mackenzie imprisoned for being a Jacobite. The two men would fight in the courts for the next 15 years as to who was entitled to the income of the estate. Simon eventually won and spent his time building up the Fraser estates and wealth, even taking command of one of the Independent Companies of Highland soldiers established by the Hanoverian regime – the Fraser Highlanders.
As I said early Fraser was a man of contrary and to me was very like “Bobbing John” The Earl of Mar another Jacobite who a tendency to shift back and forth from faction to faction, no sooner had Fraser built up this “Hanoverian” army that he started openly campaigning for the restoration of the Stuarts. The Government responded by cancelling his military role.
When Bonnie Prince Charles landed in Scotland he was still playing games.
He allowed his sons to fight for the Stuarts, but stayed at home himself “loudly lamenting the wilful disobedience of children,” as Sarah Fraser has put it. Lovat did meet Charles, however, and expressed his anger at the lack of “siller” which he knew would be necessary for a successful campaign. They met again after Culloden, at which Clan Fraser fought bravely and suffered many casualties, and Lovat advised the prince to get away and re-form his forces. Charles fled through the heather, as we know, and made it to France while anyone associated with the Bonnie Prince was hunted down. The Duke of Cumberland’s troops were not taking any more games from Fraser and burned Castle Dounie.
Lovat managed to make it to Loch Morar but was captured there while hiding in a hollow tree. Although approaching his 80th birthday, The Fox was taken south to London.
He pled not guilty but his trial was a formality and he must have know his fate would be the same as previous nobles, the Earls of Kilmarnock, Balmerino and Derwentwater who were executed for treason the previous year.
At his trial, ever the Fox he insisted strongly upon his affection for the reigning family. Such were the characteristics of Simon Fraser, but of course he was found guilty the sentence, hanging, drawing and quartering was commuted later to a mere beheading by the King.
In a way, Lovat had the last laugh. Newspapers and pamphlets of the time recorded that as he was led out to the scaffold on Thursday, April 9, 1947, a wooden stand that had been erected near the Tower to seat crowds eager to see the execution collapsed sending hundreds plunging down. At least nine people died and dozens were injured, which amused Lovat – the phrase ‘laughing your head off’ is said to date from that event.
According to a woodcut print made on that fateful day, Lovat “with some composure laid his head on the block which the executioner took off with a single blow.”
As I mentioned at the top Lovat has been in the news quite recently. Simon had requested burial at the family mausoleum at Wardlaw near Inverness and the government initially agreed but changed its mind thinking his body could become a rallying point for further trouble. He was therefore buried in the floor of the chapel within the Tower of London, St. Peter ad Vincula. The chapel was refurbished in the 19th century and the floor was relaid. One of the coffins uncovered during the works had the nameplate of ‘Lord Lovat’. The names of those found are now recorded on a plaque on the wall of the chapel.
Fraser folklore, and written in several books says that his body was spirited away from London, the stories even go so far as to name the boat ‘The Pledger’ that sailed north to The Beauly Firth, where he was taken to the family mausoleum, there is even a plaque in the crypt that reads “In this coffin are laid the remains of Simon Lord Fraser of Lovat who, after twenty years in His own Land and abroad with the greatest distinction and renown, at the risk of his own life, restored and preserved his race, clan and household from the tyranny of the Athol and the treacherous plotting of the Mackenzies of Tarbat. To preserve an ancient house is not the greatest credit. Nor is there any honour for the enemy who despoiled it. Although that enemy was strong in his plotting and unrelenting warfare, yet Simon who was also skillful and cunning defeated him in war.“
In 2018 the headless skeleton inside the coffin was exhumed to be examined by experts from the University of Dundee in January this year they announced that the bones in the coffin did not belong to Simon Fraser, but to a young woman. So it looks like his body did end up rotting in The Tower’s Chapel, although the Frasers will still tell you otherwise.
Scottish actor Clive Russell played The Old Fox in the television adaptation off Outlander.

welcoming myself to my lilith era
Y'know, I noticed that so much divine feminine and tales of women embracing the darkness are told frequently in old 'media'.
At the best of my knowledge, I can think of a few such as:
Lilith, Adam's first wife, who seeked equality, thus her banishment from Eden;
Eve, who was gifted free will, punished with painful childbirth;
Kore, a spring goddess who became the queen of the underworld, gained an alias: Persephone;
Medusa, a priestess (or as the closest I can compare her with other than a servant to Athena's temple), who was raped yet shunned for it by her own goddess;
Mary Magdalene, an accused promiscuous woman who was given a chance by Jesus, only to become his closest disciple;
I'm sure there are much more that I didn't include.
(Btw, this is not at all well researched and much more of an opinion and thought based entry blog.)
There is this apparent concept of being shunned for having traits that aren't "light".
What I mean by light would be purity, obedience, beauty, fertility, and such. Somehow, embracing the darker aspects of ourselves is considered a bad thing, enough to be humiliated.
Now, to the concept of transformation.
I noticed that not every woman who misbehaved had a bad tale. Aside from the iconic stories of dark feminine symbols like Lilith, Persephone, and Cleopatra, there is the interesting (and might I add undereated) story of Mary Magdalene, one of Jesus' closest disciples. Her origins began very much like Medusa's but backwards. She was accused of being promiscuous and was humiliated and 'stoned' (getting thrown with stones, yes, that's fucking brutal). Jesus was pretty much maybe one of the lesser people to really symphathize with her. Not only did he take her under his wing, she dedicated herself to his cause and became one of his disciples. Tea: she was so close to Jesus that the others were kinda jelly of her. I haven't rechecked that fact but it is there. Literally a conversation.
But anyway *ahem* in all illiterations of various stories, transformation is regarded as powerful. I yearn for that , so much.
A lot of us can relate to trying to change who we are because of how we fucking hate who we are. Thus, the self-loathing practices: negative self talk, self bullying, limiting beliefs, victimizing the self, people pleasing, exaggerating views on mistakes as monstrous acts, self destruction, etc.
In my opinion, that is one of the most common but not outright known forms of abuse. Negativity in the membrane bruv is fucking hard.
It's incredibly exhausting, and it feels impossible to even believe that you can change.
And that is what my lilith era is actually about.
It's not just the aestheticism of the beauty of darkness and mystique (of course that's part of it though, c'mon its fucking dope ugh, the dark cherry lips, the eyeliner and -oh my ghod the dresses woo!!! Sign me up!) , it's the wonderful acceptance of yourself , warts and all that begets the empowering transformation: self love.
Well, that's about all I can type before my phone overheats.
Here's a gif of a beloved icon:

in the most publicly familiar story of Lot, the men of sodom sought to rape the "male" angels (in appearance only, as angels do not have sexes. oh but let's not mention THAT or we might get too woke about gender,) who visited Lot and Abram, and somehow christians interpreted that as Gay Is Bad, and not Rape Is Bad. As a woman, this should trouble me--and it very much does.
because i guess never mind the fact that he offered them his virgin (many translations of the original word insinuate they were CHILD) daughters to rape instead, ~because the wickedness of that city had overtaken his mind~. Apparently that's acceptable sinfulness, being under the influence of a wicked city and all, bc he was not punished for that. despite the fact that his was not a gay offer, it was still the influence of sodom's very bad gayness tho. funnily, none of the other men of sodom, who may have been fine before they were also impacted by the wickedness and became (gay) rapists, did not get this opportunity for redemption.
later Lot fled the city and his wife got turned into salt for looking back instead of just fleeing as commanded. then later, wifeless, he himself raped his daughters--or, per the bible, they were like oh no theres no men to marry now :( we better fuck daddy so we can have babies and continue the family line :(( guess we better get him drunk and fuck him because it is way more important to us to bear offspring than it is the fact that having sex with ur own dad is bad and wrong and really gross. oh also we DEFINITELY came up with this idea ourselves and it wasnt just Lot's later victim-blaming excuse for how his daughters both got pregnant living with only him. Clearly they got him drunk on purpose and then seduced and forced themselves him, and he didnt just get really drunk and horny and the only vaginas around happened to had sprung from his late wife's womb so he said fuck it and jizzed in his own kids. because he was a holy man, he would NEVER!!
I doubt anyone ever heard the girls' side of the story. Or cared to, because pfft, they're just females.
so the man who offered his daughters for rape, and slept with them himself, creating incestuous children, was The Good Guy of the story and Gays Were The Villains. tho suppose it tracks, given the christian-catholic complex has made it clear they see no problem with sexually assaulting children. you only need to look at the numbers; it's sickening what these Holy People we're meant to trust are doing. but the fact they wanted to rape a MAN is the sin, guys, just remember. THATS the point of the story. god hates fags, he burned them for wanting to stick dicks in male assholes and not the rampant, violent rape apologist mindset. also fuck women who dont listen to commands amirite guys lululul
i'm just saying. if you are a christian woman. and you hear these stories. youre told Lot did these things to his daughters, that the wife was killed for something that wasnt even a sin or harmful in ANY way but only for "disobeying", then youre told Lot is the good and righteous person. how can you stomach that? how can you nod along and go like oh yes the fact that gays and women are the problems in these stories and not the reprehensible actions of the male protagonists makes total sense and i believe it entirely. yes, women are so bad and naughty and need their daddies and hubbies to keep them in line, and make sure they get married and have babies like good girls, i totally agree. kick my ass bc i disobeyed you, husband, the bible says its fine bc im lesser than you :) I'm fine with that :) i dont want rights, dont worry, hubby. YOU decide if i have babies, not me, tee hee. i better not voice any opinions because my girl brain is too stupid and prone to sin. i definitely shouldnt speak up in church against the extreme and obvious sexism, god forbid i be a FEMINIST, a word that has been purposefully misdefined and vilified by my church so i don't realize it isn't what I think it is. we suffer not for the sins of our fathers, but i'm still physically suffering for original sin for a week or so every month bc i'm a woman and we deserve it :) ah damn i was raped i guess im impure and unworthy of my husband now bc i didnt fight hard enough or scream loud enough to prevent it :) can't wait to go to heaven to serve my husband eternally while worshipping the lord for blessing me with the chance to be a lesser being on earth for X years
like fucking face it! christianity is nothing but a man's guide to bullshit to justify shitty behavior towards anyone besides another straight cis man. see, i can get away with this, my god says its righteous. but if you do it with your uterus and tits it's bad, so sit down. see, god killed a buncha gay rapists. thats what they get for being gay. i can go rape a woman tho, and hell, i can even say she used demonic seduction and forced me into it and she's the bad guy, too. and you gotta agree, bc im a christian so im a good person so im definitely not lying or anything.
anyways the point is if youre a christian woman, willingly, youre fucking blind. frankly, but in the most gentle and loving way possible, youre a fucking moron.
open your goddamned eyes and get the fuck out of there. why are you allowing people to justify hurting you?? these values didnt end in genesis. they are maintained today. christian men to this day blame the woman for coaxing them into extramarital affairs they willingly and hornily enter. christian men to this day believe women are lesser and should be subservient to them, the Given leader of the household by merit of wiener. christian men to this day blame women for their own rapes and hold them accountable for pregnancies they never wanted bc they're MEANT to be baby bakeries and refusing is against your Purpose. christian men to this day believe you're weaker, less skilled, less powerful, less capable, just Lesser, because of the body you were born in--one that does amazing things theirs could never do, like bring fucking LIFE INTO THE WORLD. christian men to this day justify breaking modern laws and moral codes because women nod along agreeing that this ancient book written in a long dead language based on word of mouth stories in places today considered third-world that nobody you know has ever been to, most or all of which happened before the advent of written language, and was all 100% written by men and only contains a number of female characters you can count on your fingers despite covering supposedly thousands of years of stories, is a valid reason for it all.
I'm begging you to open your eyes and see. I'm begging you to value and love yourself. even if you think none of these things have ever applied to you; because i bet they have and you're just too used to it to realize. It's not even progressive to appreciate your right to equality as a human being!! you dont need to change all your values! the things you really love about church--community, kindness, love, service, gratitude and celebration of the life you have been given--can all be maintained without religion. all you need to do is wake up and see that you're being systemically abused. if there is a God, which I welcome you to continue to believe, he wouldnt want this for you. If he loves his children, ALL his children equally, anyone who says man is superior is outright speaking against that very idea! In God's eyes, we are all the same, so why do men get to say "but we're a little more special"? If you need to shut your mouth and keep shit to yourself, that's not love and peace and harmony and salvation. That's being oppressed. Please. PLEASE wake up.
Sincerely,
A much happier now ex-Christian Woman, who never doubted her faith to be real for a moment until one day something spurred her to actually start REALLY looking at what she was raised to believe

Part 5: Stormbringer
Content warning: minor Stormbringer novel spoilers.
[List of all parts]
[Part 4]
As much as I wish to jump into this part already, I must preface it with a fairly long introduction, as there’s a lot I can say even before digging right into the actual details.
If I am to be honest, this book, its contents and the reaction it received is the main reason I’m writing this whole work. Before Stormbringer’s release, I barely heard much of this ship as I did mention earlier, but now, it’s as though a significant handful of people who have never even heard of Arthur, Paul or the pairing itself prior to this new addition of the BSD universe have immediately joined the Rimlaine community. It comes as no surprise that this caught my attention quite fast— at first, it worried me before having read the actual book itself, as one of my main fears while waiting for the novel’s release was the possibility of these two getting some form of “redemption arc”. Now, if it was done well and truly served its purpose, there would be nothing for me to speak about here at all and I would just have to start saying it’s merely a personal discomfort, if it would continue to be, despite having no real issues with it that felt more significant than my own distaste. Believe it or not, that would have actually been alright, but I didn’t think it would be easy to do. I was more afraid they’d try their hands at it, not do it well and leave a thousand problems behind with many people who’d still latch onto the story they received whilst condoning everything blindly because it was framed as a “better ending”, or so was one of the potential outcomes.
While it may sound like a strange or specific conclusion to jump to, there is a reason I stood by this the whole time before having the ability to actually read the story for myself. Please recall the events of Fifteen I described, more specifically the lesser known part regarding Paul Verlaine. We all had various opinions and interpretations about what could have possibly motivated his words and behavior, some people believed it was only a result of some tragic event or misunderstanding which could actually have been resolved later on, but I had a much different stance on it. Certainly, this was a theory with no factual backing, but I didn’t think any such thing could have truly caused him to speak the words he did, especially after reading Arthur’s side of the story. He still wholeheartedly cared about Paul, which wouldn’t disrupt this potential narrative, but he didn’t mention or hint at any such event happening in his recollection. You could argue his memory was weak, yet I believe he would have still said a word or two making the reader question his actions even further if that actually occurred. Either way, it seemed like a finished tale regardless of what truly happened, ending with Arthur’s death and Paul’s cold words about him.
Due to this, even despite the story’s vagueness, I thought it would be quite hard to find a way of brushing it all under the table or simply “coming back to a better time”, especially without potentially doing more harm than good that would probably only be noticeable to a handful of people and fully disregarded by the rest. Yes, I did acknowledge there could be ways to salvage it well, but I couldn’t ignore the possibility of it still turning out somehow wrong. That, combined with this particular fanbase which might not have been willing to point out any such things or even come up with them in the first place, knowing how some dealt with their claims about the IRL people, seemed like an equally plausible option. I worried this may have been the case here, hence why I started to feel quite uneasy upon the sudden spark of interest regarding these two characters.
Before I actually reveal what actually transpired and whether my worries became true or not, however, there is one more thing I should say. At the time of Fifteen, I could not have actually pointed towards anything explicitly being wrong with the two. As for shipping them post-canon, obviously, I was able to say “hey, Paul was happy about Arthur’s death, maybe we shouldn’t be putting this pair together”, but there were still hundreds of questions left unanswered for everyone, including myself. Paul’s words didn’t change the fact that the backstory could have truly been whatever and I had nothing to really say against pre-canon shipping in the purest meaning of the word, as odd as it felt to me, as opposed to mere storyline speculation, which I deemed acceptable. The headcanons and assumptions I used to have fit into the tale just as much as the ones others had, and it was simply a matter of reading the book and deciding for yourself if you still wish to view the two in some kind of reciprocated romantic light even after learning about both characters’ points of view and imagining what their time together could have been. Sure, I found a lot of it very strange, especially some people’s active desire to make something sweet out of the actual parts written, and I wished to distance myself from that part of the fandom, but that was it. I couldn’t say anything more, which I would have then backed up by facts and quotes instead of mere theorizing, and you may have noticed this in the part about Fifteen— I simply stated what I personally found off-putting, but I couldn’t have made any actual proclamations of what I genuinely thought were problems reflected upon in the book itself. However, if you didn’t pick up on any of it, that’s fine too. It will change in the following section, just as everything about this very ship changes with Stormbringer.

Lucifer & Lilith X a who is physical embodiment of Hell itself
Lucifer & Lilith with the physical embodiment of hell.
Tumblr media
Lucifer, in his arrogance believed he could rule heaven greater then God, and for his arrogance he was cast from heaven.
So, banished from the only home he knew, he went abou founding his own domain.
He wanted to build a place where all the sin and vice God had forbidden, could flourish.
Whether he wanted a place where souls could embrace there sin without judgment, or a place where those sins would consume there soul, even he's forgotten.
But he knew what hell was now. It was Hell.
It was a place of perpetual torment, where if you weren't being preyed apon by your own sins, it would be by another soul.
It was a hound eat hound world and he didn't much care to change it.
He had his beautiful wife, a daughter that, while he didn't agree with and believed to be an inevitable failure, he still loved deeply and only wished she could see her ideals simply wouldn't work.
He loved his wife, and she loved him. The two of them deeply committed to there Unholy union.
Despite being his domain, Hell was its very own entity, an ever changing place, erratic and unforgiving. It wasnt selfish creature, it was what it was.
Demons feared him, rightfully so, ad his followers worshipped him like divinity. Although he suspected many would worship any who sat in his throne.
It was during the annual purge, an event he only allowed because otherwise he wouldn't be able to get out of bed without walking through a waist high sea of sinners.
He was holding a ball for his most loyal and important followers, keeping them safe in his palace.
It was as he was speaking to one of his followers, the two of them talking over some petty nonsense when he saw you.
You were just standing there, calmly looking around you as though you weren't entirely sure I your surroundings were real.
Quickly excusing himself, he went over to speak to you.
Getting closer, your reaction didn't change, calmly looking around, like the king of hell wasn't standing besides you.
You had something of an odd back and forth, the king calmly asking you who and what you were doing here.
You calmly responded to each question.
Apparently you didn't really know who or what you were, you just kind of Appeared.
You supposed you were a demon, but... you just didn't know where you came from, but you found yourself attracted to this place, but you don't even know why. So you just stood there, searching for whatever it was you were looking for.
Lucifer was at a loss.
If what you were saying is true, you were an unknown factor.
And given the fact you were currently standing in his palace, perhaps the most secure building in hell, during the purge, without any form of identification and clearly not being one of his servants. He had no reason not to believe you.
He had you stay with him for now, wanting to keep you close so he could figure out exactly what you were.
And it didn't take long before he realised, you were No normal demon.
The king had asked you to stay within the manor, but somehow, kept managing to find your way outside.
He found you in the garden, slightly annoyed as he'd spent 30 minutes searching his palace before realising you weren't in there.
When he found you, he was Intranced.
He found you calmly inspecting a flower. And while you were inspecting the flower, your whole body seemed to change, your body morphing to match the very plants surrounding you.
It was like you weren't even aware of your changing form, as you innocently inspected the flower before you.
Getting closer, you seemed to notice without even looking.
Turning to him your body shifted back to normal, you just smiling at him like you didn't even notice your body had shifted.
He introduced you to Lilith.
Your meeting was pleasant. You bluntly telling her you though she was beautiful to look at.
But that was the beginning of an odd trend.
As it turned out, you had no filter.
Maybe it was because you were so new to Hell, or maybe you just didn't understand cultural norms, the very few hell actually had.
Or maybe you were just an ass.
As the couple got closer to you, they learned quiet a few things about you.
Like how, they mentioned before, you were very blunt. You were brutally honest as well, if you were asked a question, you'd tell them your honest opinion.
Something else about you they quickly learned was, you were without mercy, without sympathy. Something they both found rather appealing.
As the two spent more time with you, they found themselves comfortable around you and you around them.
You got along so well, they felt as though they'd known you for centuries. Your relationship was so natural, you just... worked well together.
Now, Lucifer loved his wife, and she loved him. The two loved each other deeply.
Both were more than mature enough to have a mature discussion about you, and the two quickly agreed they wished to to court you.
The two agreeing that there relationship was unbreakable, they were simply both attracted to you and wanted to be apart of there union.
You kinda just went along with it. You were already quiet content being with the pair, as you already just seemed naturally drawn to them.
A romantic relationship wouldn't be all that different then before. Of course, you'd act like a romantic couple, or rather a triad.
Youd sleep in bed with them, doing the usual sappy stuff. Kissing, holding each other close. More Kissing. All the good stuff.
It would also be something of a breath of fresh air for the two of them. As you weren't some lesser demon, drawn from the population that knew they were with the king and Queen of hell, if anything, there titles meant nothing to you. You treating them no different than any other demon.
At least until you entered the relationship, you tried to be a little more certious after that.
Your relationship would be more so an emotional one, not to say you didn't get physical, but much of your time was just spent together.
Lucifer was the more playful of the pair, always flirting or pulling little pranks, telling jokes, he especially loved giving you riddles. The fallen angel became giddy watching you put the pieces together.
He was also the more affectionate of the pair, often times giving you a little kiss, or wanting to hold your hand. Loves to hold you close, just enjoying your embrace.
Lilith was the more mature of the pair, not to say she didn't enjoy giving or receiving affection, she was just more refined about it.
The Queen much prefers having conversations with you, or doing something together. Teaching you chess became a major pass time for the two of you.
She'd often read to you, resting your head on her lap as she read you one of her favourite novels.
Your relationship was an odd one, being such a new being, you still had much to learn about your surroundings and now being with them added a whole new layer atop your already dizzying place in hell, including figuring out just what you were.
But Lucifer and Lilith were there for you, and made sure you didn't have to figure it out alone.
Hey Hey. I did my very best to match the request, but it was a fairly tricky concept to pull off.
I was originally gonna go with a badass, "I am Hell. I know no pity or mercy and take from all I come across." But I felt Hell, at least Vivziepops hell, was more straightforward. It wasn't some place of fire and brimstone. It was a void, a void where you were left with only your sin. And made a character to match it.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the story, feel free to check out my other works. Bye Bye.

On Lois Lane
Figured it well past time I got to the matriarch of the Superfamily, especially since I already wrote about the other major "LL" in Superman's life.
Tumblr media
Hardest part of writing about Lois is what more can be added that hasn't already been said? She's The Love Interest when it comes to female supporting characters, so iconic and successful that like Superman himself, she's inspired countless copycats: Iris West, Vicki Vale, the current video game version of MJ Watson, if your hero has a love interest who is a reporter, they're drawing on the archetype that Lois established. She was there from the very beginning, before there were Krypton, Smallville, the Kents, the Rogues, before Superman could even fly Lois was there.
And my God is she such a fantastic character in her own right.
Tumblr media
Whereas Clark himself is pretty damn different if you compare and contrast his Golden Age incarnation with his modern incarnation, Golden Age Lois is pretty recognizable as Lois Lane. Feisty, independent, scornful of danger and of cowardice (especially in a "peer" like Clark), a bit in awe of Superman while also eager to press him for information about himself, willing to throw herself into danger if she can get that exclusive scoop. Her personality in the early comics is much more like her modern incarnation than the lovestruck wanna-be housewife she became in the Silver Age. Lois is one of the few characters who basically came into comics perfect from Day 1.
I love the Rucka idea that she somehow has everyone's number and can call up anyone from the lowliest criminal to the highest politicians. I like when writers show that she herself is able to wear a variety of disguises, something I'm sure she and Clark can bond over once he reveals his identity to her. And I love that she is basically waging a one-woman war against corruption and evil in Metropolis long before Superman shows up, something the Superman & Lois show highlighted.
Tumblr media
It's easy to see why Clark would fall for her. Even putting aside that Lois is hot as hell, she's a great foil to him personality wise. They both are committed to rooting out social ills and taking the fight to crime and oppression wherever it rears it's head, from the Lexcorp boardroom, to the darkest underbelly of Metropolis. They both are kind and compassionate, but have explosive tempers if you piss them off. They both love to snark, although Lois has more bite whereas Clark is more deadpan.
The biggest contrast, and honestly the biggest turn on for Clark, is that Lois is free from doubt. Clark is constantly second-guessing himself, worrying about how others see him, worrying about whether he's making the right choices or if he's approaching his heroics/journalism the right way. Lois? Lois never second-guesses herself, never allows the doubts or opinions of others to affect her course in life. She knows her dad is disappointed and upset with her and she couldn't care less. She knows others think she's a bitch and that only amuses her. She's confident and self-reliant and those are attributes Clark wants desperately to posses himself. How could he not fall head over heels in love?
Why Lois would fall in love with Clark is a bit trickier. It's easy to see why she would love Superman, which is part of why Clark wants her to love the "whole" of him and not just the public persona. Superman is confident, Superman is powerful, Superman kicks ass, he's kind and intelligent, he's a huge celebrity, who wouldn't love him? Clark? Eh he's easy on the eyes but he doesn't really have much of a presence. That's how everyone else views Clark. Lois, I think, would start off viewing Clark as a dweeb who will be gone in a week, the big city too much for him. That he sticks around and toughs it out impresses her. That he manages to outscoop her multiple times infuriates and intrigues her. That he manages to live in Metropolis and see how rotten it can be beneath the shiny gilded exterior, yet doesn't lose his sense of optimism, his faith in other peoples inner goodness, his "naivety" so to speak? I think that's what would make her fall in love with him.
Tumblr media
Lois is at heart a "cynical idealist" in my estimation. The cynical side is she's someone who will always fight for the truth, for justice, but I don't think she believes that peoples inherent goodness will win out in the end most of the time. She's seen how selfish people can be, how uncaring, and I think before Clark shows up there's a part of her that thinks she's just bashing her head against a wall trying to change things. The idealist part of her is that she will continue to bash her head against that wall of public indifference anyway. Lois will always fight even if nobody else will fight alongside her, she'll keep writing articles and investigating long after a lesser woman would give up, because it's the principles that matter damnit, even if only to her. That Clark is someone who will join her in that fight while still believing that the rest of the public can be swayed to join them is what I see as the reason why she finally gives him a chance, that optimism remaining in Clark is refreshing and uplifting to her. That he's also hot and can trade banter with her doesn't hurt his chances any.
Tumblr media
Lois becoming a mom has been really interesting, even if I haven't always been wholly satisfied with how they've handled the relationship between her and Jon. I haven't seen enough of Lois traits in Jon to really buy him as her offspring, I hope that changes. While I'm not the biggest fan of Tom Taylor to put it mildly, I liked that he emphasized Lois' importance with regards to Jon becoming Superman in interview leading up to the first issue, and I hope we get lots of Lois/Jon interaction in Superman: Son of Kal-El that really flesh out their relationship. At the very least I want to see Jon get some of that Lois patented verbal bite to him.
One last thought with regards to Lois: how the hell was Tom King the first one to realize that Lois and Selina would immediately hit it off?
Tumblr media
They're both so similar when you think about it: Brunettes who are willful and independent, who flaunt the rules to get what they want, who outright laugh when their male significant others try to order them around, yeah I totally can see the two of them becoming friends. I really hope that gets continued under someone else, since I don't think anyone other than King has really played with it, but I love the idea of Lois having a "gal pal" that's also caught up in the insanity of life with a superhero.
If not Selina I'd like to see Lois being shown to have a friendship with her copycats such as Vicki or Iris or the rest. Definitely with Cat (even though Cat Grant can drive her up the wall sometimes). More girls' nights out/double dates for Lois, that's all I'm saying.

Uhm... Hey everyone lol. And welcome to my Danny Phantom & Flynn Fenton story.
I am alive, I’ve just been so busy with personal stuff and college. I mostly wanted to post this because I am an avid fan of Danny Phantom and I absolutely wanted to talk about the video Butch put out a few days ago with Danny having a “mysterious older brother.”
This has actually inspired me to write for the first time in a millennia and while I’m a bit late to the party and very nervous, I really wanted to make my own version of the story on top of expressing my opinions. So here we go!
--------------------
I don’t like Butch like most people in the Phandom but I just want to preface this by saying that I think that his idea for a mysterious older sibling for Danny isn't a bad one, but the execution of it was very poor. The issues I mostly have of it is that it messes up some consistencies with the show, it has plot holes and instead of making Jack and Maddie slightly incompetent with people's safety, it makes them out to be negligible criminals.
A Summary Of The Original Story:
The original story went that they had 3 kids, Flynn Fenton (who's age was not disclosed but he might have been about 10), Jazz Fenton who was 4 at the time and Danny who was 2. Jack and Maddie had created a uncompleted Ghost Portal that Flynn had turned on, wandered too close to when it somehow started working and was subsequently grabbed by a mysterious ghost from the other end. The portal suddenly stopped working afterwards. Jack and Maddie found out about this after reviewing security footage in the lab, which they coincidentally didn't have when Danny had turned into a ghost.
After the whole incident, they hid the fact that Jazz and Danny had an older brother for years and take their time getting the portal to work again so they could save their son. Years pass and Jazz suddenly has a dream about Flynn and eventually confronts their parents over what happened and they tell their kids everything.
As for Flynn, Butch goes off in a tangent about a ghost who was responsible for the uprising and rebellion against Pariah Dark. I forget her name, but it was edgy and she honestly looks like a cartoon concept design for Thor's sister in Ragnarok, but if she had a Spiderman appeal to her.
Anyway, once Pariah was sealed away in the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep, she wanted to rule the ghost zone fairly and with justice. Or something. However chaos ensued now that the ghosts were free to do as they please without Pariah's wrath hanging over their heads. Over time, trying to keep balance in the Ghost Zone took a toll on “Thor’s sister” and she one day stumbled across and open portal and saw Flynn on the other side. She essentially kidnapped him and raised him to be her soldier for justice. Like the Winter Soldier.
The logic for this was that humans have ghost powers in the Ghost Zone. I mean, yeah they can fly and phase through things, but it was never actually mentioned whether or not humans had super strength in it. But go off Butch. Then he goes on to explain that in some reference to the Ant Man movie, over time Flynn just sort of gained powers as he became "one with the Ghost Zone" and became a powerful protector called "Exodus." Then Fartman went on to mention it was a reference for a machine in the Halloween episode.
So yeah, eventually Danny finds him and they've kind of got that dynamic of "I think you're the bad guy in this situation" when they aren't and duke it out until Danny eventually convinces this dude they're related. Oh yeah and Flynn had no memories of his human life.
Gonna be honest, I might have misremembered a few things but it’s honestly close enough.
--------------------
The issues I have with this concept are as follows:
⦁ Jack and Maddie have essentially been the direct cause for 3 people being harmed (and sorta killed) in some way by their Ghost Portal experiments. This doesn't even border on negligible at this point. It basically is, especially considering they should have learned not to let Danny near their experiments after losing their first son.
⦁ They come off as criminals considering they hid all traces and knowledge of Flynn from Danny, Jazz and most likely all family members and didn't even report his disappearance. They even had cameras in their lab and that honestly puts across the idea that they disabled them in case one of their other kids gets hurt.
⦁ There's already a ghost who considers himself to be the law of the Ghost Zone and it would appear that Butch forgot he created Walker for that exact purpose.
⦁ The female character who was responsible for putting away Pariah Dark honestly isn't well fleshed out. She can imprison the most powerful ghost in existence but is essentially useless at stopping lesser ghosts from causing chaos? Even if she did have help, how exactly was she capable of such a feat to begin with?
⦁ This messes with the cannon a bit considering there are some plot holes that can't really mix well with the established story.
I saw some of these concerns were also mentioned by the Phandom. Giving Butch the benefit of the doubt here, I don't hate the concept but I think it needs to be worked on more. I've read about what some people's opinions were and at least the ones that gave real critiques had some good ideas. Like maybe making the sibling either Jack's or Maddie's and it would have helped with their obsession of ghosts.
I have my own plot hole filled ideas with how this could maybe be told better. I'm not a storywriter and this might come off a little edgy, but man I love coming up with ideas. So here's mine:
--------------------
My Story:
After the incident with Vlad, Maddie and Jack decide that their ghost hunting days are over and resolve to live a normal family life. They have their first son Flynn, who had solidified their decision to quit ghost hunting and settle. After a few years, Jazz and Danny were eventually born and it seemed they had the perfect life.
One day while vacationing in a wooded area (location can change), Flynn had wandered not too far from the camp. Then a flash of light suddenly burst in front of him and he could see a whole other world. Jack and Maddie were alerted to the sound and ran towards where it came from. They gasped at what they saw and knew exactly what Flynn was staring into; a ghost portal.
Before they could yell for him to stay away, a hand suddenly reached out and pulled Flynn in, the portal immediately closing as soon as he entered. Maddie and Jack were devastated. No one believed them when they explained what happened to their son, and this incident became the catalyst for them to start their ghost hunting careers again.
They worked tirelessly for years to get the portal to work again. Jazz had eventually chalked up their obsession to being a coping mechanism because they couldn't handle the guilt of losing Flynn and were in denial that he was gone. Danny was more of a social outcast than ever because people assumed his parents had something to do with Flynn's disappearance.
--------------------
Now with regards to why Flynn was pulled into the Ghost Zone, I would actually like to think Clockwork played a hand in it. I watched the Blood of Zeus recently and I kind of wanted to play around with an idea that inspired this next part.
--------------------
Clockwork knows that Dark Dan was never going to stay imprisoned forever. The fact that he still exists, even outside of time, was an omen he needed to heed. So maybe he meddled with a few future possibilities. Maybe he tried to get Maddie and Jack to realise Ghost Hunting was something they shouldn't mess with after hurting Vlad, which led to their decision to settle for a family. Maybe... He wanted Flynn to exist for a purpose.
He was the one who pulled Flynn into the Ghost Zone. Clockwork told Flynn that he would be the key to saving the future from Dark Dan, but withheld information on who he really was until he was old enough. He taught him everything he needed to know on how to defeat Dark Dan and trained him over the years in combat.
Going off the idea that Danny is kind of really average in comparison to the rest of his family, Flynn is a technological prodigy. He created weapons that Vlad could only dream of creating and can utilise technology that puts Tucker to shame. Once he was old enough, Clockwork finally revealed who Dark Dan was and how he came to be.
--------------------
As for the fighting portion of everything, I'm honestly not too sure how I could go about writing it. Obviously they team up to destroy Dan for good and Flynn gets reunited with everyone. He might actually prefer to stay in the Ghost Zone and be Clockwork's assistant. Idk.
This is as far as I can go with regards to the story and it was super fun to write. Hope you guys enjoyed reading it too!

Top 5 Dumbest Things in The Final Season
I’ve played TWDG a lot, and I can confidently say that The Final Season is my favorite installment, and I’d argue that it’s the best of the series in terms of visuals, controls, characters, and storyline... but that doesn’t mean it’s a perfect game by any means. In fact, there are a lot of issues and inconsistencies you could pick out within the story and the arcs of our characters.
But today I don’t wanna tackle the big problems. The issues on today’s list aren’t a big deal and won’t ruin the experience of the game-- they’re minor and just really, really dumb. They’re things that you probably wouldn’t even notice during your first or second playthrough of the game. Honestly, most of these probably could be easily explained with “shhhh, don’t think about it.”
But I’m thinkin’ about them because they’re dumb. So, here's my Top 5 dumbest things in TFS. Do note that these Top 5′s are all in good fun, and they’re my opinion. Obviously.
[also, most of the screenshots used here are from @pi-creates-- if you haven’t checked out Pi’s blog, I highly recommend you do! :D]
5. Doors make no sense.
Tumblr media
The doors in this game are dumb and make little sense. And you might be scoffing like, “Really? Doors?” and to that I say, “YES DOORS OKAY!”
If you’re like me, you like to look at everything in hopes of finding interesting details and maybe an easter egg. If you look at the all the doors after breaking out of the dorm in ep1, they all have different locks which... why?
Tumblr media
Wait, shouldn’t Clem be able to open this one...? The lock is right there on the outside.
Tumblr media
Why are they different? Also, why are the dorms lockable from the outside? Like, okay, I get it-- ya gotta lock up the troubled youth so that they don’t escape. Fine. Cool, I can accept that... except does this mean that someone had to go around and unlock all the dorms every morning before the apocalypse? What if you forgot a door and a handful got stuck in there for the day? What happens if you lock all these children in their rooms and a fire starts??
And don’t you look at me and try to be like “Pfft, there’s not gonna be a fire--” excuse me?? With Aasim hanging around, and Mitch for that matter, you’re gonna tell me that the odds of fire happening are 0%?
Well, y’know, fine. If there’s a fire, then the kids can just escape through the windows... oh wait--
Tumblr media
Weeeeeell fuck the troubled youth, I guess.
But the dorm doors aren’t even the dumbest doors here-- no, no. That would be the god damn basement door that apparently locks from both sides because game’s gotta game and I guess Marlon has the key?? This dumb door makes no sense.
Tumblr media
Again! I feel like this is a safety hazard?? Sure hope no one gets locked down there, otherwise, you’re fucked I guess?? because there’s no way to unlock or open it from the inside?? After Brody dies and Clem’s looking for a way out, you’d think that she should be able to just open the door at the top of the stairs now that she’s inside but nooooo-- game’s gotta game.
Ugh, dumb doors!
4. Abel’s magic shotgun
Tumblr media
Did you guys know that Abel actually has a special shotgun? A magical shotgun, if you will?
It’s true, he does. He uses a shotgun that, when he fires it, the buckshot curves around to hit the target when the plot demands it.
It’s true! And it’s dumb!
I know this, because if you yell for Violet to shoot Lilly in ep2, Abel will throw AJ to the grab, pull the shotgun out of nowhere, and fire at both her and Louis.... but somehow--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
--only Louis manages to get hit.
Soooo.... I guess the buckshot swerves around and above Violet to ONLY hit Louis? Like, I know she ducks a bit but I still feel like something should’ve nicked her as well?? At least?? Like, are lesbians immune to shotguns and that’s why nothing hit Violet?? Am I only learning this now??
Not only that, but it only got Louis in the arm?? H-how??
But that’s not all!
After Louis and Violet flee the scene, Clementine and AJ are on the run with Lilly and Abel shooting BEHIND them... sooo...
Tumblr media
If Abel was behind them.... how is it that AJ’s shot in the FRONT of his stomach??
Like, I guess Abel could’ve been at an angle when he shot but they only ever show him behind them soo?? Do I just not know how shotguns work? Do they curve to hit people in their front rather than shooting straight forward?? Because what??
On top of that, how is AJ not dead?? I know, I know, protagonist powers and whatnot but?? the boy took a shotgun to the belly?? other characters have survived lesser things??
But y’know, the dumbest part about this is the fact that I can’t take Abel’s magic shotgun for myself after the Ericson crew capture him. I could’ve just finished off every delta member if the shots curve and travel to hit their targets.
Or maybe Abel’s the only one who can harness its power.
Either way, Abel’s dumb shotgun is dumb.
3.You can’t hug Louis and Violet during their romance routes.
Tumblr media
Sigh.... Why?
Y’all know that I’m a clouis shipper, and now lemme tell you a fun story that isn’t actually that fun-- Do you remember when the trailer dropped for ep3? And we got some teaser screenshots, with one of them being a shot of Clementine and Louis hugging? Well, I was excited for a plethora of reasons, and that hug?
I could not wait for this hug.
Then I got through my first run of ep3 and... no hug? Wait, no hug? Why not? I thought--
Tumblr media
Oh. Oh, it turns out... it turns out you can only hug Louis if you don’t romance him.
Ummmm. Huh. Wha- why?? Do you know how dumb that is?? What dingus who worked on this episode forgot to implement the hug option for the romance route?? Rather, what dingus thought it was a good idea to only give the Louis romance two options outside of doing nothing-- Slap Louis, or kiss him?? Where’s my hug?? Why is Clementine not allowed to comfort her boyfriend with a hug when he’s clearly anxious about everything that’s about to go down?
Look, the smooch is great and all BUT it’s not what Louis needs in this moment, ya dingus.
I’m sure if I asked Kent for answers about this, he’d do one of two things-- go into a long winded essay about how the lack of hug and slapping him totally makes sense within the context of Louis’ character arc and route because of this and that and this subtle detail here... or he’d give a shrug and say “I dunno, reasons??”
Ugh, okay, well maybe they let you have the choice in Violet’s romance route--
Tumblr media
...Why??
Again, if I choose to romance Violet, why am I not allowed to comfort my girlfriend with a hug before we do this rescue mission?? Sure, I can reassure her that I’m not going anywhere, which is definitely a better option for a love interest than, oh I don’t know, slapping. But the HUG!
They could’ve implemented the hug option into the romance routes but they didn’t and that’s incredibly dumb.
2. Magic tree is magic.
Tumblr media
Know what I don’t like? The dream theory. Y’know, the theory that the overly happy ending we got at the end of TFS was all just a dream in AJ’s head to cope with the devastation of the real ending-- the one where Clementine died.
Now, I can already hear you scoffing at me once more like, “Dream theories are dumb, CJ.” and this time, I do agree with you.
However, there’s actually some compelling evidence that could subtly point at this theory, such as the backward graffiti in the dorms that was present in Clementine’s nightmare, or the fact that Clementine is, y’know, alive despite being seconds away from death in the barn...
Oh, and then there’s this fucking magic tree.
Oh, you know... the tree that magically grows in in ep4! The one with the tire swing!
Tumblr media
Episode 3 vs Episode 4
This tree is dumb and makes no sense. What, did they just... plant a tree there? Did they push the tree up that was on the ground and use some magical wood glue to fix it?? Clementine said that Willy helped her with the tire swing so like... is Willy some sort of tree whisperer??
Or is this just further evidence of the dream theory where AJ’s lamenting the fact that Clementine never got to push him on the tire swing back at the train station and now she never will because she’s fucking dead??
I don’t wanna think about it. In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s what the devs would tell me-- “Shhhh... don’t think about it.”
This tree is dumb!
1. What even is the greenhouse??
Tumblr media
So.... the green house. It’s dumb. And inconsistent, both in the story and actual location of it.
First of all, as you can see in the concept image above, it should be within the walls of Ericson, yeah? And if you’re like, “Well, it’s CONCEPT art so it might not be totally accurate CJ.” and I say, “Fair enough, let’s look that the actual in-game map the characters use then.”
Tumblr media
Look at that-- still within the walls of Ericson, though in a different location than the concept art. Make sense? Sooo....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where the hell is it?
Because it’s not within Ericson’s walls. No, no--
Tumblr media
It is WAAAAY the hell out here! You can see the bell tower in the distance so like... huh? Where are we?? This is a long as walk to the greenhouse!
Oh, and if the weird inconsistent locations weren’t dumb enough, there are different conflicting stories surrounding it, as well!
First, Marlon says that they had it functional with lots of vegetables, but then it became over grown so they don’t go out there anymore. Then, if you go fishing with Violet and Brody, Vi will tell you she worked in the greenhouse the day the twins were killed last year, which... doesn’t add up? Especially when we actually go there in ep2 and see that Ms. Martin died and became a walker inside, but she died a while ago??
Also, how did Ms. Martin get tied up like that? Did she get bit, barricade the doors-- wait, that doesn’t work because how did she barricade the science lab from the inside when there’s a shelf in front of the door?? In fact, shouldn’t the walkers that are inside be students that died??
“Sshhhh... don’t think about it.”
Ugh, nothing adds up about this greenhouse and that makes it the dumbest thing in TFS.
---
Honorable Mentions
AJ magically teleporting behind Marlon with the gun. Because plot.
The dumb padlock on the gate Louis/Violet/Tenn climb over in ep4 that they could’ve easily broken
Louis’ jacket that somehow holds Chairles
The padding on Violet’s boot that’s rendered useless because they put it on the leg she doesn’t use to kick walkers away
---
Those are my Top 5 dumbest things in TFS, do you agree or disagree? Do you have anything from this game that’s dumber than what I have listed? Let me know!

This is a very old meta I wrote in the s1/s2 hiatus, and in looking for something to post this week I happened across it. It was basically done so I decided to post it. Please keep the s1 context in mind, I did not update it based on season 2 but I still stand by everything in here.
There is something I see thrown around a lot when it comes to Max, and I want to add my two cents. I am not trying to tell people what to think on this subject, but I would like to try to explain my reasoning behind some of his motivations which manifest in...unfortunate ways. Max has almost every privilege known to an American and at times he is blinded by it. This makes him do and say things that are incredibly problematic.
He is not however, in my opinion, misogynistic.
*Please let it be known I am not condoning Max’s behavior. As much as I think his actions are extremely justifiable given context, they still come across at times as sexist and controlling. This is because Max is coming from a position of Male Privilege and his blinders cause him to fail to recognize the issue with his well-meaning intent. With that said, carrying on.*
A misogynist, in its literal definition, is someone (usually a man) who hates or is strongly biased against women. The word has developed to be associated with deep-seated sexism; not necessarily “hating” women but viewing them as somehow “lesser” than men. Max displays none of these characteristics.
He is perfectly happy to see Cam pull her own weight as his partner on duty, and he doesn’t seem to have any issue with answering to Sheriff Valenti as his superior.
On multiple occasions, he respects Liz’s autonomy as a person and yields to her authority where he has no experience (with science). She is an equal partner in their relationship, and he makes that clear.
Where I think he’s gotten a bad rap is his overprotective tendencies, specifically when it comes to Liz and Isobel. And yes, from an outside perspective there are certain lines/scenes that come across as sexist. However. I don’t believe this behavior comes from thinking Isobel and Liz can’t protect themselves. I think this comes from specific incidents with both women that leads to feelings of guilt (which manifests into a strong need to do better) on Max’s part.
With Isobel, Max is dismissive of her odd behavior and apparent blackouts as teenagers. Both he and Michael are also unconcerned with, if not outright annoyed at, her distress over the two of them leaving after graduation. (Typical teenage sibling behavior.) What happened to change that?
Well. For one thing, Isobel killed three people.
She didn’t really, of course, but Max doesn’t know that. Max outright says this about Isobel to Michael in the cave after failing to save Rosa. “We never should have left her alone. We-we should have protected her. So we protect her now.” Both Michael and Max blame themselves for the deaths of the three girls. Max is overprotective of Isobel because as far as he’s concerned, the last time he failed her she became a murderer. She doesn’t remember doing it either, which tells a clueless 17-year-old who reads a lot that this incident is connected to her mental state. Max thinks that if Isobel is pushed too far again, she will become homicidal.
Even after it is revealed that Isobel was not actually responsible for the murders, Max is overprotective of her because of who actually is. In 1x12 when Isobel resolves to talk to Noah privately, Max flat out tells her “No”. Noah violated Isobel right under Max’s nose in every sense of the word for over 10 years. Of course Max’s instinct is to not let Noah get anywhere near her ever again.
BUT it is important to note that when Isobel says “I wasn’t asking”, Max capitulates immediately. He respects Isobel’s decision to face her abuser alone and backs off to let her. He doesn’t even insist that he accompanies her. He comes with her only at her invitation and at no point tries to control the interaction.
With Liz, when they were in high school Max learns of her intentions to leave and not only does not try to dissuade her, he offers to change his plans for her. Then Rosa died, which he thinks was his fault, and she left before he could say goodbye. What happened to make him so protective of her?
She got shot and died in front of him.
The only reason Liz Ortecho survives the pilot is because she had the good fortune to die in front of the only undercover alien in Roswell who had the ability and the inclination to save her life. Max is not overprotective of Liz because he is under the paranoid and mistaken idea that she will break without him there to save her, he is overprotective of her because that’s almost exactly what actually went down. He knows that there are people in this town who bear Liz a very violent ill-will and they have already proven they will act on it. And the last time it happened he was literally the only person able to do something about it.
And when he finds out that Liz, completely unwillingly, is mentally connected to Noah, the man who used Isobel as a sock puppet for over 10 years? To know that Noah has now violated not one but two of the most important people in Max’s life, who he feels responsible for, who he views as under his protection? Yeah, he’s pissed.
And yes, his comment about Liz being “marked” by Noah comes off as very caveman territorial. But. Again, important to note. Max does not act on those feelings. He has every opportunity to literally kill Noah with his bare hands for what he did and he doesn’t do it. (Well. Not until later when it’s in self-defense.) He is ready to let the serum run its course, he doesn’t have to take matters into his own hands and prove how manly and protective he is.
What I’m trying to say is, Max does some things throughout season one that come across uncomfortably close to controlling or otherwise misogynistic behavior. I, personally, do not believe that his motivations come from a place of sexism, and I disagree with the standpoint that Max is a misogynist. He’s just trying to do his best for the people most important to him.

simply the best
@kimannhart asked for “either a winteriron or ironfalcon schitt’s creek au, more specifically the “simply the best” scenes please?”. this is in no way related to my stevetony schitt’s creek AU, and is just a gift for a friend. (jo, its been a while since ive seen this episode so ive taken liberties with it, i hope that’s okay)
//
Before Tony, before the Air Force, before ROTC, before he was anything bigger or taller or higher than his Ma’s knee, Sam Wilson was enrolled in church camp one summer. It was horrible and sticky and he was surrounded by a bunch of pre-teens who had an unhealthy obsession with a man who nobody even knew existed, but it’s still one of his fondest memories to date - because eight year old Sam Wilson walked out of that church camp with the knowledge that he could sing.
Like really sing. Like, vocals of an angel, must compulsorily join his church choir and became indentured entertainment everytime Mama Wilson had guests over type singing.
It’d been a while since he’d had an opportunity to sing, since he’d wanted to sing to someone, but he thinks about the stolen nights at NYU when him and Riley would get drunk and then sneak away to the local open mic in the back alleys of Brooklyn, which is why he turns to Tony and says, “I think we should have an open mic night.”
Tony stills from where he’s stacking shampoos, “You want to host an open mic night? Here?”
“Yeah,” Sam says, emboldened, “Look around Tony we have no customers. We haven’t had customers for over a week.” He holds up his hand before Tony can get a word in edgewise, “No, Pepper ‘sampling’ the goods doesn’t count.”
Tony shuts his mouth with a pout, and Sam manfully resists the urge to go over and kiss it, “I think we should have an open mic night. I’m a 50% partner in this business right? I think we should have an open mic night.”
He can tell that Tony wants to fight, but its a credit to his boyfriend (and his boyfriend’s therapist) that Tony simply swallows his reply and nods instead.
“If you think it’ll help the business,” he says gamely, and returns to stacking the shampoo with renewed vigour. Sam looks over at the empty space at the back of the shop, mentally cataloguing all the things they would need for an open mic night.
“Does Friday sound good?” he calls out to Tony distractedly, but only half hears his reply - more focused on trying to remember if he brought his guitar with him.
/
Sam waits until Tony is naked and pliant in his arms to bring up the open mic again.
“So I was thinking,” he says softly because Tony is lying on his chest, fingers rubbing absent circles on Sam’s pecs, “that I would sing something original.” Tony perks up slightly, but not enough that he completely moves off Sam.
“Hmm?” Tony motions for him to continue, and Sam elaborates, “For the open mic night this friday. I had a short-lived musical career in college, and I was thinking - no time like the present to bring it back right?”
Tony, bless his heart, tries his absolute best not to stiffen in Sam’s arms. It’s actually quite adorable how much his boyfriend is trying to be considerate of Sam’s feelings and keep his opinions to himself, and Sam feels the slightest bit bad about winding him up like this.
“Oh?” Tony says with false nonchalance, “an original song? That’s, interesting honey. Are you sure you want to risk it though is the thing. I mean we want to attract customers with this open mic night right, and maybe something familiar and recognisable would be the way to go.”
“You have a point,” Sam muses, “I should stick to something simple for the first one.”
“The first one?” Tony half sits up, to look Sam in the eyes. If Sam were a lesser man, he would start laughing at the fear in Tony’s eyes, “You mean you’re singing more than one song? Don’t you think we should give our guests a chance?”
“No silly,” Sam leans over and kisses Tony’s nose, “I mean the first open mic night. I can save the original songs for when this is more of a regular thing.”
He can see the gears turning in Tony’s head, as he realises exactly what he’s signed up for - so Sam pulls him down for a kiss so that he doesn’t get worked up.
And another, and another, and another. Just to be safe.
/
Despite Tony’s passive aggressive hints all week that the open mic isn’t necessary, come Friday evening - the shop is buzzing with people, including some that Sam didn’t even know lived in this town.
(To be quite honest, he’s still not sure that they do and is half convinced that they’ve come from Elmdale for the free booze, but hey more customers right?)
Tony’s leaning against the register, looking equally parts proud and vaguely nauseated at the thought of this many people in his store, which is why Sam decides to go over and talk to his boyfriend.
Or maybe just kiss him because he looks absolutely edible in that sweater, he hasn’t decided yet.
“Hi,” Tony says, when he gets close enough, and Sam can’t resist leaning over and pressing a kiss on his cheek.
“ You see? I told you this would work out. This is all it takes to get people to come out on a work night.”
“You were right, in fact - I think it’s worked out so well that I don’t even think we need the open mic night because everybody’s drinking and checking out the products and -”
Sam lifts a hand to muffle his boyfriend before he talks himself into a stupor, “No i think we need the open mic. Just trust me okay?”
Tony softens under him, and not for the first time - Sam thanks the stars that he somehow managed to convinced Tony Stark to give him a chance.
He taps the mic a couple times to make sure it’s working, and also because the champagne tray has gone around a bit now and everyone’s pleasantly buzzed, and its an effective way to get people’s attention.
“Hey, I think we’re gonna get things started here,” the crowd cheers softly, and if Sam closes his eyes he can almost pretend he’s back in Brooklyn, with Riley.
“How‘s everybody doing? I hope you’re all having a good night,” Sam reaches behind him for his guitar, swinging it over his shoulder and propping it up on his thigh, “Thank you so much for coming to what I hope will be the first of many open mic nights at Stark Apothecary.”
He looks at Tony pointedly, who is half listening to him and half leaning over to listen to whatever Maria is whispering to him.
“I thought I would kick things off with a classic, and this is dedicated to someone extremely important to me,” he strums the guitar gently, “My boyfriend Tony Stark. There he is, right there with his mother, you can’t miss him.”
He bites back a smile at the way Tony’s cheeks go pink, and then refocuses his attention on tuning the guitar, strumming it softly until it’s just right.
“I call you when I need you and my heart’s on fire. You come to me, wild and wired. You come to me, and give me everything I need - give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams.”
He sees the exact moment that Tony realises that he can sing, the way his lips softly separate into a silent ‘oh’ and Sam thinks that everything he’s ever gone through, everything he’s loved and lost - it was all worth it if it lead him here, singing in a store to Tony Stark.
‘Speak the language of love like you know what it means,” he croons into the mic, “And it can’t be wrong, take my heart and make it strong babe. ‘Cause you’re simply the best, better than all the rest.”
He thinks he sees Maria reach out to Howard, leaning against his chest,  but he doesn’t know, because he only has eyes for Tony; and the way he’s biting his lips - eyes swelling up with unshed tears.
“Better than anyone, anyone I’ve ever met. And I’m stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say. Tear us apart, baby I’d rather be dead.”

Gossip Girl Rewatch
I decided to rewatch GG for the first time in 8(?) years. I haven’t touched the show since it ended and it’s interesting the views that have and haven’t changed. For my own amusement, the big things I liked/hated I will discuss as well as any other significant changes.
Chuck and Blair
You know what, yeah they were toxic but honestly I still ship them as much as I did before. Not only that but from season 1 to 4 we saw how they could be good and right for each other but also how they could be so wrong and destructive. From the end of season 2 we knew clearly they loved each other in an all consuming way but they were both broken and Chuck so much more so (honestly talk about the worst family and childhood ever) that they didn’t know how to handle or put limits on that amount of love. By having both let go at the end of season 4 we had season 5 to see Chuck become a man worthy of love through his relationships to others (Monkey is cute as) and through therapy which I wish we had seen and heard more of - he never went to Blair with a hidden agenda to bring her into his orbit for romance, he only did that once when Dan set it up because it was clear that in that moment Blair’s happiness included Chuck and then the next episode to try and understand what had changed and then because her own mother asked him. During that season we even got the clear juxtaposition of his former self by having Bart there to see just how much better he was at handling emotions and life changes.
While Blair got to explore the other types of love to determine which she wanted for herself in season 5, as Blair said herself it was her season to “run away and try to kill” that intense love that had her losing her way. She had always had a fairytale in mind and she got it and it nearly destroyed her and everything that made Blair herself. She then got her simple love, that was easy and she was content but ultimately that wasn’t for Blair who has always been passionate about something. The difference was this time she wanted the passionate but knew who she was as a sole person, she finally saw herself and had validation from the one person more influential then Chuck - her mother. In season 6 I appreciated the second time around how they had this understanding and communication over them wanting to set up a future for themselves separate from their relationship before fully committing and building their lives together. This help Blair complete her powerful women arc and also helped end Chuck’s history of unhealthiness in dealing with business and Blair - he kept her separate until he needed to scheme and them scheming together, using powers for good was never framed as a bad thing but as part of there skill as a lower couple. I also loved how naturally they both could fit in and help the other achieve what they wanted in a true partnership, demonstrating the way they knew each other, could bring out the best in each other and work as a team. Funnily enough watching it again I have a new head canon of Chuck and Blair in the 5 year time jump and beyond with them actually having one of the most settled and “normal” relationships and lives because they got their not boring out during the show and the circumstances of their wedding - normal would probably be a relief lol.
Season 5
I didn’t actually watch a lot of season 5 when it aired because I couldn’t but I read reviews and such and I hated majority of what I read. But forcing myself to watch it I...still hated it. Louis stayed way to long and Blair was just a bad character. I appreciated her friendship with Dan, but the relationship just wasn’t one I could get onboard with; something always felt off. I also loved Chuck working on himself, his friendship with Dan, and Monkey was pointless but cute so I enjoyed that and Chuck just really given things and his happiness up for Blair’s until it became obvious that Blair’s happiness lead back to him. I liked seeing the darker side of Serena but wish she had joined forces with Nate and Chuck more. The 100th episode was not “a love letter” and I stick by that. I used to hate but now love that Bart came back and was everything Chuck had imagined him to be. The first half of season 5 tonally felt like a completely different show so even though I didn’t like the Dair relationship it was easier and more enjoyable to watch than Louis.
Dan and Blair
I used to hate everything about them together, but now I enjoy their friendship and wish they had kept that between them. I didn’t like how Blair went back to judging his status in season 6. That brings me to the one thing I really dislike and that is how they ended. It was obviously done to cause some drama in season 6 but I feel there could have been a great moment of conversation between the two where they talked out her choosing Chuck and they could have maintained a friendship. Romantically I didn’t buy it, to me I found it one sided or just off somehow but I understand why others could ship them but it’s not for me and I was happy for it to be a relationship that led them (more so Blair) to an understanding of what they want. For Blair it was that while she could have safe and easy love and be content she would rather the passionate love that could bring her to the happiest she has ever been. For Dan I would say he wanted that role of ultimate insider.
Dan and Serena
I always liked season one and to a lesser extent season 2 versions of them. But afterwards initially no, I hated that they ended the show together and thought both (Serena) could do better. However, rewatching knowing what I know now (Dan is GG) is slightly different. I still love season 1 and to a lesser extent season 2 them but I found myself actually rooting for season 6 them, I felt the shock again when it was revealed that Dan had set things up but I also understood him a lot more that the feelings were genuine. I also could see why Serena could be so forgiving especially after her GG stint in season 5. The one thing I still disagree with though is the line that Dan being GG was him writing a love letter to them all, just no girl. I will say though that may head canon for them is that in between that 5 year time jump their relationship was still a little back and forth and not as settled as Chuck and Blair which I use Lily’s line of “I never thought we would get here” as my proof.
Bart’s Return
Oh I did not like that when it aired. I found it so soapy but on rewatch yes it was soapy but I also loved to see not only that Bart was exactly as Chuck imagined (and that we had actually seen - remember he was the one who swayed Chuck as the end of season one) but we also saw how Chuck was different to him and how he had grown. Chuck was fairly open about his feelings to Bart, even initially instigating a hug until it was clear that Bart and his feelings equal weakness self was there. In season 6 I found the decision to take down Bart extreme and a soapy device but they had set Bart up as this ultimate powerful bad guy that would have destroyed everyone’s lives so the only way for it to end was by him dying again.
Vanessa
I hated her on the first watch but on the second one I didn’t but I also can almost pin point the second that they had no clue what to do with her. On rewatch I actually liked her character but also feel like she was treated badly by other characters and ultimately the writers. I wish we had gotten a small glimpse of what she was up to after the time jump (she was the only character we didn’t see then) but I will stick with my initial thought that her season 3 faux dreadlock look was not it.
Rufus and Lily
On initial viewing I was really disappointed that they didn’t end up together and that she ended up with William but on rewatch. I think it made an odd amount of sense. Lily and Rufus had a lot of love but ultimately were different in fundamental ways that just couldn’t transpire to long term happiness. William blackmailing his way into her life was (funny I laughed when Ivy was going off) not great but out of everything in Lily’s life that was the least of issues. I do still love the call back to the end of season 1 though by having Lisa Loeb end up with Rufus.
Blair and Serena
Not much changed with my opinions but I will say I could see the systematic way they slowly broke Blair and Serena’s bond in season 5. Every time they called each other their best friend it started to feel insincere to the point where Blair even dating Dan a guy Serena had been and was so clearly I n love with didn’t even feel like something she should consider as wrong because that was something a best friend did. I don’t know if I feel they built them up enough after the events of season 5 but I also believe they wanted there friendship instead of being “stuck with each other” as Blair so elegant put in the season 6 premiere.
I’m sure there are a lot of other thoughts I have forgotten and some I have communicated terribly but ultimately I was surprised to find myself actually enjoying the rewatch. Watching in binge form was definitely an appeal but it also gave me some understanding and enjoyment to storylines I had previously disliked.

I saw a Witcher/Hellsing crossover mentioned in the tag and I was just inundated with ideas for it, so I’ll ramble here instead of attaching a tl;dr to that post. I’m a huge fan of the Witcher, and yet somehow I’ve never actually considered a Witcher AU for Hellsing (and Andercard of course; it’s my modus operandi). This is based on the Witcher games, books, and a little bit of the The Witcher RPG since the Netflix show isn’t my thing.
First of all, for the unfamiliar:
Witcher = a person (usually as a child) that has been mutated and trained to be a monster hunter. They have greater endurance, enhanced healing, enhanced senses, are able to drink potions that would be deadly to the average person, and can perform a small degree of magic called ‘signs’. One can tell a person is a Witcher by their eyes, since they look like cats eyes. Sometimes Witcher’s have other indications, but the eyes are the most consistent feature.
To become a Witcher, a candidate must go through three trials. All of them are exceptionally difficult and painful. The first two trials, the Trials of Grasses and Dreams, basically break down the body through use of various potions and rebuild it, while the third is basically a test for those who survive the first two trials. Very few children put through the trails survive; sometimes there’s only one survivor among those brought in to undergo the trials, and those who die do so in complete agony. Understandably, many Witcher’s are bitter about this whole ordeal and resent being turned into what they are. Witcher’s are also regarded with suspicion and dislike and no better than the monsters they kill, which makes being a Witcher even more torrid.
Vampires = vampires in the Witcher aren’t like your traditional vampires. They’re a race rather than creatures born of humans and they reproduce as any other creature does. Lesser vampires are generally unintelligent, beastly, bat-like creatures, while Higher vampires are intelligent and near indistinguishable from a human. Higher vampires often live among the other races and can integrate well, though some choose to live only among their own, and a rare few even stay with Lesser vampires. While Higher vampires are very different from their Lesser counterparts, they can turn into giant bats or similar creatures.
Higher vampires also don’t need blood to subsist. They can eat whatever they like, but some vampires do drink blood because blood is addictive to them and offers an experience not unlike drinking alcohol. Blood also has rejuvenating and strengthening qualities to it. Lesser vampires do seem to drink blood as part of their diet.
Honestly, Witcher vampires require a lot of explanation, so here’s the wiki for them. They’re a really interesting take on vampires.
Conjunction of the Spheres = a point in history where different dimensions collided with the world of the Dwarves and Gnomes and various different races fell through rifts and got trapped there. At the time the books start, they’ve all been there for well over a millennia and have thoroughly integrated.
Anderson:
Since Nilfgaard is based on the Roman Empire and has a religion functionally similar to Catholicism, I think it’d be appropriate to place Anderson as being from there. He’d be proud of being Nilfgaardian and would introduce himself as a Witcher of Nilfgaard alongside mentioning his guild. But being a Nilfgaardian Witcher is kind of an oxymoron since the Witcher schools were around before Nilfgaard started spreading through the South, and Witcher’s aren’t actually wanted or really used there anymore... in fact, the school most strongly associated with Nilfgaard - the Viper school, which is where I’m placing Anderson - was straight up destroyed by Nilfgaard. An Emperor (Upsurpur of Fergus var Emreis, specially) tried to take over the School of the Viper, failed, and then the Nilfgaardian army destroyed their keep and banned the Viper Witcher’s from entering core Nilfgaardian cities. Nowadays, most Nilfgaardian’s barely know what Witcher’s even are. Viper Witcher’s are thoroughly displaced; unwanted and relatively unknown in the South, reviled in the North, and with no keep to take refuge in, but Anderson still considers himself Nilfgaardian and is loyal to the Empire and the Great Sun despite no longer being welcome in his home city. He’s also has loyalty to Emhyr because he always regarded Fergus’ son as the rightful Emperor during the Usurpers reign and he’s happy when Emhyr returns to take the throne.
Before all that happened, Anderson grew up in various orphanages in Nilfgaard, going first from a decent one in the City of Golden Towers, and then to an over-packed and impoverished one closer to the border. Support for the orphanage eventually fell through, and almost all the children ended up at the Viper school when a Viper Witcher saw an exciting opportunity to expand the guild and took all the boys. Anderson went on to become a Witcher, while all but one other orphan died during the trials.
The potions used on Anderson were experimental and had a lot of vampire components for regeneration purposes. Anderson has a chip on his shoulder about that and specialises in hunting vampires as both a consequence of his hatred, and because his enhancements make it easier for him than his fellow Witcher’s.
Continuing under the read more since this is getting long.
Since Anderson’s trials emphasised regeneration, he has very accelerated healing and benefits hugely from Witcher healing potions. To accommodate his frequent use of potions, Anderson has a very high tolerance, which has been strengthened by both himself and teachers in his youth by repeatedly testing his limits. In battle, he tends toward longer blades than his fellow Viper’s and keeps a multitude of them on hand. He’s particularly good at using them as projectiles. His signs are used on occasion, but not often; everything but his Yrden and Quen are relatively weak. Sometimes he uses potions to bump up his Igni.
He’s also just a well-read and educated as he is in manga/OVA. The School of the Viper highly valued knowledge, so all Witcher’s received a decent education. Anderson built on this by attending lectures at academy's during his journeying and has visited and appreciated Oxenfurt Academy a few times despite it being a Northern institution.
His visual mutations are fairly mild: bright green, slitted cat eyes and slightly pointed canines. He gets the same sort of toxicity appearance as Geralt in the games if he takes too many potions (reference). He can pretend to be human with some effort, but the eyes are hard to hide since the pupils are slitted and they have a degree of luminescence.
While the keep still stood, Anderson collected information on the Wild Hunt alongside his fellow Witcher’s. He also became a teacher of young Witcher’s, but many of them died during the conflict at the keep and more still when Viper’s had to remain on the path year round instead of wintering at their home. Eventually some of the remaining Viper’s did start wintering at other places/keeps despite their reclusive, secretive nature, but a lot of Viper’s simply remained on the path year round. Anderson is among those who rarely chooses to winter and will instead travel to a warmer climate to do work.
Many provinces in the south are... fairly safe and prosperous, so Anderson often travels around all the Continent to find work. He has some disdain for Northerners like he does Protestants in canon, especially since they treat him like a monster while most Nifgaardian’s don’t even know what he is. Basically, Melitele and the Eternal Fire are stupid, Elves are hot respectable beings, Northerners are barbarians, dwarves and gnomes who??, and god don’t even get him started on Skellige. Typical Nilfgaardian in his opinions.
Alucard:
Alucard is a little harder to figure out since I like to think of Alucard as one of the vampires that arrived during the Conjunction of the Spheres, and we don’t actually know all that much about the world vampires came from... the books have basically nothing. The games expand on vampire lore by giving us three tribes and links to Etruscan civilisation, but its still slim pickings. Since Alucard stayed in society and assimilated, I think it’s fair to say he was part of the Gharasham tribe.
I also think vampires were generally peaceful since if one kills a fellow vampire in the games, they’re rejected and pursued by vampire kind. That might not be the case in the world vampires came from... but since other vampires are the only ones who can kill a fellow higher vampire, they would have to be somewhat peaceful to accommodate their longevity and near inability to die. Alucard might have warred once or twice, but it isn’t until he encounters humans that he really starts going off the rails.
Over a thousand or so years, Alucard kills humans for fun and consumption and gets into human husbandry. When the Witcher’s start being made, numerous of them try to kill him over the years, and all of them fail... until a group surges in together and defeats him. He’s consequently stuck in a state of non-death for a century before a fellow vampire locates him and helps him reform. Luckily, Alucard doesn’t return to his awful ways, because a century of being isolated and stuck in a never-ending state of fear taught him a lesson in basic decency. He develops some respect for humans, and especially for Witcher’s.
His interest turns to observing humans and Witcher’s instead, and they’re a lot more complex and interesting than he gave them credit for. Especially a certain green-eyed Witcher who seems to particularity dislike vampires... he does, however, still indulge in blood on occasion, since he sees no issue with drinking of those who seek battle with him or do ill unto others. Maybe innocents get caught up in that sometimes, but he doesn’t deliberately go after them these days.
On top of being a higher vampire, Alucard would also be an Elder vampire since that seems to be the case for all vampires who came during the Conjunction of the Spheres. It fits the fact that the Elder vampires are incredibly, incredibly powerful beings. Staying true to canon, he’s perhaps the most powerful of Elder vampires, being among the first to arrive and active enough to keep him in peak form, while other Elder vampires are withered recluses.
Since he partakes in so much blood, it could qualify as a drinking problem... but he drinks so much of it that its gotten to the point that it rarely negatively impacts him.
Together:
Alucard finds himself fixated on a vampire hunter Witcher he hears about during his journeying. They clash a few times, and Alucard thoroughly impressed with Anderson’s abilities and it convinces him to tail Anderson through the North (and occasionally in the South). It takes decades for Anderson to warm up to Alucard, but Alucard’s thousands of years old; he can wait! And he does, doggedly pursuing Anderson until they develop an amicable rivalry.
This would probably take place after or before the events of the main books (not the short story ones). Otherwise, there’d be an awful lot going on around them.

> questions to ask at 4:02am meme 🌕🌃
thank you!
2: Do you mourn for a place or person you’ve never known?
yes 😩 I can’t even adequately describe what’s going on here, but there’s a lot of people and a lot of places that feel familiar even if I don’t know them, if that makes sense? and there’s also a lot of people I could have become, and a lot of places I could have been, and I do have moments where I kind of mourn them even though I have no proof that they would have even existed in that specific way. I do think this is normal to an extent, but also I do this a lot, lol.
on a slightly less philosophical level, I of course mourn my older brother, who’s quite literally a person I never got the chance to know.
8: Do you think you can put love into categories (family, platonic, romantic, etc.) or is it just one general sensation?
oh man definitely. the love you feel for your friends isn’t the same love you feel for your spouse or your parents, and so on and so forth. there’s lots of different kinds of love, and lots of different levels within those types, and you’re also more than capable of feeling several different types and levels towards the same person, in my opinion. I don’t know if I would try and categorise everything, because something like love doesn’t really suit being shoved into boxes, but there are different types of love and I find it’s constantly shifting and changing along with you and the object of your love, which is cool.
I should add that I don’t find any one type of love more or less important than the others. seriously, destroy the idea that romantic love is the One True Love, and all other forms are somehow lesser. that’s just garbage.
26: What’s the most life-changing choice you’ve made so far?
this is kind of embarrassing but the truth often is: almost eight years ago I decided to make a sideblog on here that has... something to do with writing, let’s say, and something to do with... a certain character... and anyway that decision led to me meeting a certain person and going from awkward messages on Tumblr to awkward messages on Skype, to eighteen hour conversations and constant texting, to living in a car together for three months on a roadtrip and then living in a car together for many more months while homeless (and a million other places in between), to moving in together and then holy shit we got married.
so I guess that one impulsive decision to make a shitpost sideblog at stupid o’clock in the morning when I was bored one summer has been the single most life-changing choice I’ve ever made.
37: Do opposites attract?
eh. I mean, yeah, sometimes? but similarities attract, too. I think for any kind of relationship to be successful you’ve kind of got to have an element of both, and I think that “opposites” usually refers to something very specific. for example, I don’t mind cleaning the bathroom and you hate it. that’s a useful kind of opposite, because it means a compromise neither of us feel cheated by. you’re unshakable when it comes to slogging through bureaucratic minutiae, and I’m a beast in high-stress quick-thinking scenarios. together we make a pretty unstoppable team, for being opposites in that regard. I think that’s kind of what’s meant by this saying, but unfortunately it seems to have been appropriated to mean “yes honey, I know you work 10 hour shifts and come home to find your partner hasn’t cleaned the house or done anything to help, but opposites attract!” or “my partner supports Trump and genuinely believes that vaccines and masks are a government conspiracy to control us all, and I am a normal human being, but opposites attract so I guess I’ll have to put up with it”. like no, kings and queens. that isn’t what it means. dump them.
38: Is your life what you expected it would be five years ago?
lmao no. not in the slightest. five years ago it would have been... just into 2016, and yeah, no. there is not a single thing about me right now that I would have predicted, aside from the general stuff that’s never changed about me. I had different ideas about what I would be doing for work, about what I’d be working towards; I had completely different levels of commitment and discipline to various tasks, and I certainly wasn’t planning an international move. I can at least say that I’m happier with my current plan than the one I used to have (it wasn’t a bad plan, it just no longer suits me) but there’s no way I would have expected this.
and of course, there’s the whole issue with the pandemic. five years ago I had no idea I would be living through a global natural disaster, and if you’d told me, I would have thought it would be something like a supervolcano eruption or a nuclear winter. like, I’m glad it’s not, but also “you have to stay in your house for over a year” still kind of sucks.
57: Do you thinks humans are obsessed with escapism (books, video games, movies, etc.)? Are you looking for an escape? Do you think that’s a bad thing?
I think we are sometimes, when things are tough and there’s a need to wish to escape (see how many books I read over quarantine in March, for example). most of the time, however, I think humans just like stories. I don’t think it’s any deeper than the fact that humans love stories, we’ve always loved stories, we’ve always loved telling and hearing stories, before we had books and archives we passed our stories down orally and we drew them on cave walls with our own fingers, and this love for the story has never changed or altered in the hundreds of thousands of years since. I think that’s the major driving force here.
right now I’m looking for an escape 24/7, because I’m sick to death of the real world. I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all. without books, without the fictional things I love, without reading and writing and music, I would have gone absolutely bonkers in 2020. being able to fall into a book or play around in the worlds I’ve created, both my own and things I’ve co-written with you, has literally saved my ass over the past eight months. escapism is never a bad thing. like anything, it only becomes troubling when it starts creating problems. but I do not think there’s any shame in occasionally saying “fuck it” and going to worry about someone else’s fictional problems for a while.
72: Should people be prosecuted for crimes that weren’t considered crimes at the time?
this is a tough one. on the one hand I want to say no, because it could easily be abused. some asshole could get into power and make something illegal, and then round up all the people who have committed that now-crime and lock them up, and oh, would you look at that! all the people who have committed the now-crime just so happen to be the dictator’s biggest critics and threats, how convenient.
at the same time, dictators are going to wipe out their enemies no matter how legal it is, and I also have to consider the fact that before WWII, for example, words like “genocide” and “crimes against humanity” didn’t exist. how could we decide that these things are crimes, but then not try those who literally gave cause for the crime to be acknowledged? we can hardly say “alright, genocide is now a crime against humanity, but because these guys did it before this was law they can’t be tried”. that’s just... not really a great precedent to set, you know?
so I suppose a tentative yes? I think it would probably depend entirely on the severity of the crime. for example, if they found out that... I don’t know, some normal everyday substance was something that people could suddenly get high off, and they declared it a drug, I don’t think everyone who’s ever sold it or used it should be rounded up and jailed. but like, if the act of cannibalism itself became a crime (and not just murder or desecration of a corpse, which is what “cannibalism” usually falls under in terms of legality) we should probably go round up all the people who are stealing human legs to eat, yanno?
91: Is hate as strong as love? Who do you hate?
sick totheark reference bro. anyway yeah, hate is as strong as love, though it appears and reacts in different ways. hate and love are two sides of the same coin, if you ask me. the deeper you love somebody, the harder you hate them if things go wrong. hate is betrayed love. something something, a tree’s branches cannot reach to heaven unless its roots reach to hell, and all that. something so powerful is going to leave a lot of damage if it goes wrong.
I hate a few people. I don’t want to go into detail as to their specific identities, because I’m sure that if you know me well, you’ll know who they are. both of them were people whom I loved very deeply, and who betrayed that love in ferociously cruel ways. both people taught me very difficult lessons about the nature of love, and how sometimes it really cannot conquer everything, but while this would be a nasty lesson to learn it’s compounded by the fact that I learned this not out of any kind of extraneous circumstance, but rather through their cruelty and their refusal to work with me, listen to me, or love me in the way I deserved to be loved. my hatred for these people will never go away, even though it certainly doesn’t dominate my life. it is there, though, and I can easily draw on it whenever I need it. should I get the opportunity, I have no doubt in my mind that I have the capacity to be very cruel to these people in my own right, and I won’t feel bad about it.
94: How would you describe yourself when you love? Do you love forcefully, unconditionally, gently, quietly, desperately?
oh damn. forcefully, conditionally, stubbornly, and probably slightly possessively.
I don’t show love in conventional means. I’m one of those stereotypes, I guess. I don’t like declarations of love, I don’t really go in for physical affection, and I’m not sappy at all. my love language is more subtle, but it’s there. I like to do things for people, I like to create things for/with people, I like to have adventures with people. that’s how I love, and I can be pretty forceful about it. I also want people to improve themselves as much as possible -- I think the greatest thing I can witness someone I love doing is becoming the best version of themselves, and I will support them 100% in this effort -- also very forcefully. I don’t think there are many people who could put up with that level of intensity for so long, if I’m honest. I demand a lot of the ones I love, but I also like to think I give a lot, too.
my love is never unconditional. while I believe unconditional love exists, I have never seen it. my love always comes with conditions -- conditions about how I expect to be treated, about ideology, about worldview. these are all huge deal breakers, of course -- my conditions aren’t vague, or petty, or small in any way. but there is nobody on earth, nor will there ever be, who I will not walk away from if I feel the relationship is harmful in any way. I might not stop loving them, but I sure as hell will not assume that my love for them will protect me from them.
at the same time I’m a very stubborn person when it comes to love. people will do things they think must break one of my conditions, but I’ll see something else in it and I’ll stick around even if we both think it’s useless. I’m never wrong, so I suppose I have that going for me. but I am very, very stubborn when it comes to love. I have a high level of endurance and I know how to nurture love; how to stop pessimism from setting in. I’m also slightly possessive, so I don’t let go of anything easily -- and this includes the people I love. I’ll never stifle a person, but I’ll definitely fight for them, and something something everything I’ve ever let go of has claw marks on it.
100: What belief do you have that isn’t logically grounded, but you still firmly believe in?
I suppose something like this could never be logically grounded because there’s no logical proof at all, and “I Just Know” is apparently not a scientific argument (it should be), but I know I’ve had past lives. I just do. I have no solid proof for this, only gut feelings and Just Knowing and weird memories and some crazy shit that I can’t explain -- like being able to find my way around a strange city because I remembered it from a past life, for example -- but I just know I’ve had many different lives before and I will have many more to come. this is just an unshakable belief and it always has been.

Prompt #13
A villain kidnaps the hero’s sidekick only to find out they have been badly mistreated; the villain decides to take them under their wing.
‘What an extraordinarily shitty end to a shitty day’ Shouto thought to himself as he sat, arms aching and wrists sore from the pressure of the cuffs.
‘It wasn’t really the cuffs though’, he mused, remembering the harsh ‘training’ he had undergone that morning. His nerves twinged at the reminder of the strain they had been under.
Another minute crept by and Shouto sighed again, shifting slightly to lean more comfortably against the wall, rough surface cutting into the barely healed bruises on his back. He winced slightly before leaning into the pain, relishing in the stimulation to his otherwise numb body.
Outside the door, he could make out muffled laughs and shouting, celebrations no doubt, after all, they had just ‘acquired’ a useful asset.
Shouto couldn’t help the snort, as if he could be anything more than a burden to these people, no matter how rough his treatment, he would not be betraying – The door slid open with quiet hiss and if it weren’t for the overwhelming silence that followed it, Shouto was sure he would have missed it.
Silhouetted in the light of the doorway was a ma – boy. His hair barely contained by the beanie stuffed on top, and short stature enhanced by the two taller figures flanking his sides, just outside the threshold. He stumbled as one of the figures shoved him in, teetering precariously on his toes before somehow regaining his balance and glaring at the blond assailant.
No words were exchanged, just a flash of too sharp teeth from the red head before the door slid shut again, leaving Shouto with a kid as his only company.
Seconds ticked by before the celebrations picked back up outside the door and Shouto allowed himself to breath again, drawing the attention of the boy unto himself. He couldn’t help the annoyance that growled beneath his skin at the recognition in the viridian eyes as they appraised him.
“Holy shit! You’re Shoto! You’re Endeavor’s sidekick, right? Oh my God that must – “
‘Here it comes,’ Shouto thought, preparing himself for the spout of hero worship he was about to hear.
“- suck balls dude he’s a dick, no offense”
Shouto couldn’t have stopped the shocked snort even if he had wanted to. He turned wide eyes onto the boy, noting the sympathy and disgust that danced across freckled cheeks, amusement hinted at in glowing eyes, clearly finding Shouto’s disbelief humorous.
“Wha-what? What did you say?”
The boy quickly brought his hands up as if to appease Shouto, waving them as he stammered out a response.
“Nothing bad on you, honest. It’s just, he’s not really a hero, is he? I mean, causing death and destruction in the name of justice seems more like a twisted version of his own morals, y’know? And not to mention the amount of damage he causes during his fights. I mean, I know that in this society, there is gonna be collateral damage, but honestly, who’s taxes does he think are paying to have them fixed? Also, I heard that he is real dicksnort when it comes to his kids, Kaacchan was telling me about how he basically uses them...” His rant quickly devolved into passionate mumbling as his distaste for the ‘hero’ made itself known.
A small thump from Shouto leaning his head back to take it all brought him back from wherever the boy’s mind had taken him.
“But that’s not to say anything bad about you Mr Shoto sir! I think you’re a real hero! I’ve seen you limiting how much damage he does using your ice! And the way you swoop in and help protect civilians that have the misfortune of being in the ‘splash zone’ is super cool!”
Shouto could not believe his ears. This boy, he got it. After years and years of waiting for someone to notice how unsuitable Endeavor was, it’s a boy trapped in the same predicament that he was, who finally saw the truth.
“Who are you?” he managed to mutter, throat aching, bringing his attention to the fact that it had been a few hours since he last drank anything, and due to the extremes in temperature he held, his body compensated it through a need for regular hydration, less he begin to suffer from heatstroke or hypothermia.
“My name is Izuku Midoriya. It’s nice to meet you Mr Shoto!” The boy grinned, his smile lighting up the room, and Shouto briefly wondered if it had anything to do with the boy’s quirk.
“Just Shouto, Midoriya, you don’t need to add Mister. You don’t look that much younger than me anyway”
“Oh! I’m not younger than you, we’re the same age. I know I don’t look it, I’m too short to be 18 huh?” Izuku responded, not looking offended in the slightest, as though it was a common occurrence for him to be mistaken for someone much younger. Shouto could see why.
The boy was short. Not ‘could be mistaken for a garden gnome’ short, but he clearly didn’t hold a candle to Shouto’s 6ft, even sat down, the height difference was obvious. He had fluffy hair that shone a deep green when the light from the overhead lamp caught it and his freckled cheeks only added to the young face.
Despite the small frame, Midoriya didn’t look frail or thin, he in fact looked quite built, muscled but not overly so, reminding Shouto of a swimmer or runner, his lithe body giving away the hidden strength under the somewhat too big black t-shirt that read ‘formal attire’ in big bold letters.
His eyes were glowing with intelligence beyond his appearance though and his smile seemed just a little too sharp to fit the childish look. ‘Not young then, he doesn’t look young, just…unburdened’
As though Izuku could hear his thoughts, his grin grew in size, almost blinding his cell mate.
“Would you like me to take your cuffs off Shouto?” he asked, fingers twitching in his lap, as though he couldn’t wait to reach up and fiddle with the metal strips. Shouto couldn’t help the lick of hope in his stomach despite knowing Midoriya would not be able to remove them, quirk suppressing cuffs were also invulnerable to quirks from the outside as well.
He nodded, even so, only just hiding the small smile that pleaded to be free when he saw excitement bubble in wide, green eyes. He prepared himself for the disappointment that would inevitably follow the realisation that Midoriya could no-
The cuffs loosened and fell to the ground with an audible clunk. Unprepared for the sudden release in pressure and the reappearance of his quirk flowing through his veins, Shouto slumped to the floor with an oomf.
He looked up at the boy who was now leaning over him, mischief present in his eyes, making him look remarkably like an imp. He smirked, and Shouto noticed a red hair grip slotted between his teeth before Midoriya slipped it back into the mess of his hair, burying under the beanie, that by some miracle, hadn’t slipped off.
“How?” Midoriya brought a long finger up to his nose, and still grinning, tapped it twice.
“So Shouto,” Midoriya grunted out as he made himself comfortable, sat crisscross from the Todoroki, “Why are you here?”
Shouto pulled himself up to lean against the wall again, rubbing his sore wrists, not noticing as Izuku’s eyes flickered down to them, noting the strain bruises littering the inside of his arm with a note of disapproval.
Shouto didn’t know how long he sat and talked with Izuku Midoriya, but it didn’t seem to matter. The boy was interested and knew how to carry on the conversation effortlessly, his charm and wit making it easy for Shouto to talk. He nodded where needed and inserted his input and opinions whenever Shouto said something that made him think.
Thinking back, Shouto tried to remember the last time he had talked for so long with someone, so easily. He came up blank.
By the end of his story, Midoriya’s less than sunny opinion on the flaming landfill had dropped dramatically and his eyes visibly darkened whenever he was brought up. Shouto again, dismissed it as part of the boy’s quirk, a point that had yet to come up in conversation, despite him adding his thoughts and advice on Shouto’s own.
“Midoriya – “
“Just Izuku, if you will Shouto,”
“Izuku, what is your quirk? I noticed that you haven’t mentioned it and it would be useful for me to know if we plan on getting out of here together,”
Shouto couldn’t understand the shocked look on the boy’s face, “Together?” he asked quietly, as though the notion of them both escaping hadn’t even crossed his mind.
“Of course, together”, Shouto frowned as the boy’s face split into another grin before he proudly proclaimed to the quiet room’ “I’m quirkless!”.
Shouto’s face fell as he realised what this meant. Izuku’s face immediately became more closed off as he noticed the change in expression, “Is that an issue?” he asked, voice cold.
The young Todoroki couldn’t help the shiver as he rushed to fix the misunderstanding, “Not at all Izuku! I was just disappointed in myself for not being able to protect you from this, as a hero it’s my job to help others and I feel that, as you have ended up here despite it being my job to protect you, that I have failed. I’m no better than my father.”
A small, gentle smile fixed itself onto the boy who now sat next to Shouto. “I think you’re a much better hero than your father Shouto Todoroki, but the question is, do you really want to be a hero?”
Shouto looked up at the boy, confusion swimming in mismatched eyes. Question, clear on his lips as Izuku’s smile widened into a grin.
“It is my opinion that modern day heroes are a sham, they are merely poor imitations of the comic book superheroes that children idolise in their youth. Too many focus on public opinion rather than public safety, so many rush to attend fan signings rather than help those that they pass on the street every day. Heroes are a publicity stunt that is slowly choking the younger generation of quirk users, those with ‘villainous quirks’ disowned and isolated while those with flashy, powerful quirks are encouraged to step on those ‘lesser’ than them to achieve their heroic status”
“But- “
“How do you think those people treat the quirkless Todoroki?”
Shouto flinched at the use of his last name, recalling all the times his father had cursed the quirkless, often referring to them as cannon fodder, liabilities and wastes of space.
“Exactly. I know what your father thinks of people like me, but I also know that you don’t follow his thought process Shouto. I know that you’re different and I want your help to show others that we are not useless and that we are not to be used as steppingstones. I want someone like you who knows first-hand that just because society deems you a hero, does not make you a good human being. So many people have forgotten that these things can be mutually exclusive.”
Shouto’s head was reeling with all this new information. Gone was the small boy that Shouto had spoken with before, here stood a confident young man, eyes aflame with conviction, and a knowing smile, as though he knew that Shouto would agree with him.
He couldn’t help the traitorous sliver of excitement at the thought of Endeavor finally being exposed as the fraud and monster that he truly was, and Shouto shakily nodded and took Midoriya’s extended hand, knowing full well he had just signed his soul over to the devil.
Well, it that devil was Izuku Midoriya, then Shouto didn’t think it would be so bad.
“Now, I think it’s about time we left this icky room Shoucchan”
Shouto blinked, surprised at the sudden appearance of the nickname. He could only watch with growing trepidation as Izuku walked over to the door and gave six sharp knocks to the thick metal. Immediately, all noise from the outside disappeared and Shouto took a step back when the door opened, revealing the same two figures who had thrown Izuku in, grinning at the boy, a certain foreign fondness in their eyes that try as he might, Shouto could not recognise.
They quickly parted to allow Izuku through and Shouto followed with his eyes as the boy stepped into the well-lit room outside, filled with other teens and young adults that all grinned at Izuku before turning to face Shouto who stood, uncertain, in the cell.
Izuku turned to face him, a happy smile splitting his face.
“Kaacchan, Eicchan, show Shoucchan out, we’ll be in contact soon, so keep and eye on your phone!”
He then disappeared into the sea of people that suddenly swamped him and Shouto could barely process what had happened before he found himself outside in a familiar alleyway.
Night had long since fallen but Shouto was unable to fall asleep, his brain trying desperately to make sense of what had happened that day. When he had arrived home, he had given his father some bullshit excuse about having to help out the police with a small case, unable to understand why he hadn’t told him what had really happened.
His phone buzzed on the bedside table and looking at the message, Shouto was reminded why. He lay back down onto the bed, smiling at the ceiling and drifted off, dreaming of the endeavor-less world that he was sure Izuku would usher in.
“Goodnight Shoucchan. I hope you sleep well. You’re first step towards a brighter future begins tomorrow – Izuku”
Signing his soul off to the devil indeed.
