okay so someone sent me an ask about my headcanons for maverick and i had some technical difficulties. but here they are anyway!

again, these are random and some will be icemav related

first and foremost, maverick has been bi since before tg 86, i like to think that’s what goose meant by the “carnal knowledge, of a lady this time” comment

mav’s favorite color is blue, but only the shade of blue that’s on ice’s helmet

loves animals, more of a dog person. but will adopt as many strays and rescues (dogs and cats) as he can because they all deserve a loving home

likes to draw, is really good at it. has a sketchbook from when he was in top gun, full of drawings of jets and probably ice. ice finds the sketches years later and teases him (again, lovingly)

is a drama queen when he’s sick. when he has a cold or even his allergies act up, he makes it everyone’s problem. he also does it so that ice takes care of him

if he’s hurt from something happening while flying, he brushes it off like it’s no big deal. flying can’t take him out but a cold can

refuses to ask for help with simple things. i love the headcanon that he has to climb on the counter to get to something on the top shelf of a kitchen cabinet. ice always catches him and just sighs

needs to drink coffee in the morning immediately after he wakes up. he will probably consume at least 3 cups within the first hour of waking up

he loves to build things. anything. he’s a master at building legos and model planes. it’s what keeps him occupied in his retirement

can cook very simple things, like spaghetti, tacos, etc. he cooks on the nights that ice doesn’t feel like it

loves to use nicknames for absolutely everyone. it’s a bit of a weird thing for everyone to get used to, but it’s how mav shows his affection. he also loves to give hugs (i feel like that one’s obvious but still)

Dancing Rasta: 'Dad'cing Rasta indeed. Has to keep reminding mom Coach to take the kids team out for ice cream after they win a match. Someone needs to get this guy a 'Licensed to Grill' apron.

El Matador: Every cartoon has that same obnoxious, narcissistic, drama queen stereotype that never fails to get on my nerves. But not this one. This particular obnoxious, narcissistic, drama queen? This one is special.

Twisting Tiger: Chaotic middle child vibes. The writers missed a big opportunity to make him the SS resident troll.

Cool Joe: I'd make a joke about Cool Joe being "That Guy" who listens to Disney music while at work, but I'm pretty sure he actually has a workout track of Disney songs he brings to practice.

Big Bo: I saw this guy and immediately thought, "Oh wow, he must give AMAZING hugs"

Blok: Man of few words with amazing dance moves. Seriously, shame on the rest of the Strikas for hating on his music taste.

Klaus: Let's face it, we've all been Klaus at some point in our lives

How Nightheart defies orders, puts himself in danger, freaks his family out, and then he treats their concern and exasperation like hatred

AND THEN HE LEAVES

And goes to ShadowClan and thinks all his problems will be fixed

Forces himself into Sunbeam's life, in the MIDDLE OF A WAVE OF POLITICAL TENSION...

Sunbeam, petty queen, who can never say no ever, letting situations spiral out of control constantly to disastrous effects: "ummm"

Berryheart: "What is this?"

Nightheart: "HER BOYFRIEND!"

Berryheart: "What... that's-"

Sunbeam (SUDDENLY SEEING A WAY TO SPITE HER MOTHER): "MY BOYFRIEND."

But then this EXPLODING because he's looking for something to fix him, and she can't. No one can. HE'S THE PROBLEM

But that doesn't mean he deserves the TREATMENT that Berryheart gives him

And it all ends up coming to a head, with Tawnypelt sick of him, Dovewing laying it out that he's a tar pit, and Berryheart moving on him...

LIKE... He's REALLY GOOD as a kid who needs to learn to confront himself. He's fun as someone who makes things worse and has the absolute worst timing ever. The DRAMA... it drives me.

Isn't that what WC really is, at its best? A cat soap opera toeing the edge of being a political drama? You HAVE to have your messy, unpredictable little brats. That's the BEST

Dovewing revoking his privileges. Most damning thing in the entire universe is when she just gets up and walks away from you.

And yet, he's in active danger, since Antfur is going to be dying in ASC instead of TBC, as a result of Berryheart's violent group.

Berryheart, in general. I've got ideas, man. I love the evil educator idea, I hope that Fringewhisker stays in ShadowClan so I can go with that idea of Heartstar spitefully making her the next educator.

Berryheart's got Don't Hug Me I'm Scared vibes, lmao. "Now let's all agree to never be creative again!"

And on that note... she survived the Kin, that day, because her executioner intentionally let her go. Looked over their shoulder, saw Berryheart swimming away, and said nothing.

The idea that Berry tells a story for sympathy about escaping, and uses it to justify her xenophobia, when it was a Kin cat who SAVED her life but she leaves that detail out... effervescent.

And that's not even getting into anything I could do with StarClan, with the last arc in BB ending in the end of Skystar, a shattered purgatory, and the quiet revelation that Ashfur had accomplices.

It's gonna be fun!

MOCHI: he looks super serious, but it's because he's worried. is really careful and soft with you when you're sick, and is really really caring. just ask him whatever you need and he'll get that. tea? warm blanket? his hugs? absolutely

KOKO: you need a pack of tissues? here, have 10 of the best quality he could find. you want some tea of a flavor you don't have at home? he'll get it. when you're sick, he'll get you everything without you even asking

KAKUCHO: he's the best. the softest, the one who takes care of you so well. brings you lots of blankets and pillows, makes you your favorite tea and snacks and you two just watch something quietly on TV, while cuddling (he gives you head kisses in the process)

"Y/N has a bad sunburn." Tatum said. Billy glared at you, "I have an umbrella in my locker.". You nodded, "They'll work I guess.". Billy went towards his locker, Tatum rolled her eyes.

"He is such a drama queen.".

You offered to work behind the counter at work. You started to stay in the dark and shadows more. You didn't go near the big store windows until the sun went down. Randy figured it was the sunburn and ignored it. He restocked the shelves while you rang up customers. Randy checked on you when the video store started closing.

"Hey, are you okay?"

You weakly looked at him, "Just.. hungry.".

"I have a granola bar if you want it."

"No, it's fine. I'll eat after work.". You smiled weakly at Randy. Randy leaned close to you, "Have you been sleeping?".

"As best as I can." You whispered. Randy nodded, "Well, go head home I'll lock up.". You nodded, "Thanks, Randy." You went to grab your book bag from the back. You punched your time card out and headed towards the front.

"Bye." Randy smiled. You smiled back, "Bye Randy.".

Randy watched you leave from the window. He sighed turning off the lights and locking the doors. Once he got home he flopped in bed staring at the phone. He waited for a call, for a sign to call. He read a comic book and watched part of a movie to pass time. He huffed out of annoyance and dialed your number waiting.

"Hello?" You picked up sounding more energetic.

"Hey, did you eat?"

"Yeah, thanks for checking in.."

"No problem."

"Did you need anything?" You asked softly. Randy sighed, "I.. just wanted to hear your voice.". Your laughed passed through the phone, "Well here it is! But Thank you for the necklace again. No one's ever really given me a gift in a while..".

"You're welcome. You deserve it.". Randy relaxed in his bed holding the phone close to his ear.

"Randy, shouldn't you be asleep?"

Randy grunted, "Yeah I'm trying."

"I can stay on the line if you want."

"I'd love to but my mom would kill me." Randy chuckled softly. You smiled, "Didn't think about that, Sorry.".

"I'd love to though. But Goodnight, Y/N."

"Goodnight, Randy."

You hung up the phone putting it back on the receiver. You walked to your room to change into comfortable clothes. The phone rang throughout the house. You sighed walking to get the phone.

"Hello?" You asked leaning on one hip.

"Hi" an anonymous voice echoed through the other side. You looked at the number not seeing one, "Whose this?".

"I dont know, Whose this?" The voice chuckled. You huffed, "Well you got the wrong number, Sorry." You hung up. You sighed about to walk away from the phone again. It rang once more, you picked up, "Hello?".

"Hey again." The voice said.

"Why'd you call back?"

"You seemed, Lonely."

You looked around your surroundings, you carefully checked around the corner in the kitchen. You took a deep breath walking through the halls towards another house phone.

"Why'd you go silent?" The voice cooed.

"Nothing on my mind. Listen it's been great meeting you but I need to go."

"But we're having fun, Y/N..". You gripped the phone, "Listen Douchebag, you're making a huge mistake. I'd leave before you get hurt.".

"Oh really? Like how those people went missing when you moved in?! Now back away from that other phone or your dad will get it!"

"I have nothing to do with that." You said sternly slowly backing away from the phone. A knock on the door made you jump, you looked out the window to see your dad. You sighed, opening the door, the phone line hung up.

"Everything alright?" Your dad asked as he walked in.

"Yeah, just a guy called about the missing people...".

You went to school the next day, looking for Randy. He was leaving his history class as you found him.

"Randy!" You ran up to him, "Someone weird called me last night...". Randy looked down at you, "It's probably a prank call.".

"Yeah, but they knew I was alone and knew my name..". You whispered. Randy looked at you, "That is a bit weird..". You sighed, "I don't know, just freaked me out.". Randy kissed your cheek, "It's alright. It was maybe some jerks.". You nodded walking towards the fountain with Randy. You placed a hat on and tried to shade yourself from the sun.

"How's your sunburn?" Randy asked, sitting in his usual spot. You sat beside him, "A bit better.". Sidney and Tatum walked over, Sidney looked more anxious than usual.

"Did you guys receive a weird.. call last night?" Sidney asked while checking her surroundings. You looked at Randy then at her, "I did..". Sidney sat beside you, "What'd he say?..".

"He accused me of cashing the people to go missing. He knew I was alone."

She bit her lip, "Sidney it's not that big of a deal." Tatum added in.

"Yeah, Randy said it could've been a prank." You said trying to help. Sidney sighed, "It just seems odd.".

"It's some douche trying to scare you two." Tatum said. You shook your head, "He knew I was alone. He knew who I was. Doesn't make sense.".

"Maybe it the sunburn getting in your head." Tatum said. Randy leaned over to look at her, "Sun burns don't work like that.". Tatum rolled her eyes, "Listen it's gonna be okay. Stu lives like 5 minutes away from you.". You blinked, "I don't know how that's helpful.". Randy held in a laugh, "It's helpful cause Randy here can't protect a girl!" Tatum spat. Randy gave her a look, "How is this my fault?!".

"I don't know, you're the horror film geek."

You leaned towards Tatum slightly., "I'll be fine. Randy's right it was just some prank.". Tatum sighed, "If you say so.". Stu sat between you and Tatum and wrapped his arms around your shoulders.

"What's up, Dudettes!!" He smiled. You took his arm off your shoulder, "Nothing much... 'Dude'." Tatum answered. You leaned closer to Randy due to Stu getting close to you. Randy gently put his hand on your back.

"Listen I'm thinking of a party at my house next Friday. You in?". Stu asked looked at you.

"Whose all gonna be there?" You asked softly.

"Don't chicken out on me!" Stu laughed, he smiled getting close to you, "Beside Randy boy is gonna be there and you know what that means.". Stu put his finger into a circle shaped form of his other hands jokingly. Tatum hit Stus shoulder, "Come on, Man! Stop it!" Randy complained.

"I'm just trying to help these two virgins out!" Stu joked, motioning to the two of you.

"I'm not a virgin."

Everyone turned towards you, "No way!" Stu yelled. Tatum tilted her head at you, "Was it someone in Alaska or.." she mouthed Randy's name.

"It was some old fling, it's over." You said. You cleared your throat from the awkwardness. Stu blinked at you, "I mean you are hot so-".

"Stu!" Tatum yelled.

"What?! It was a compliment!" He whined. You looked over at Randy, he awkwardly sat there.

"You made it weird!" Tatum complained. You gently put your hand on Randy's knee and gave him a smile.

You were busy restocking one side of the store while Randy did the other. You two would make eye contact every now and then and smile.

"Do you have the Exorcist?" Billy asked. You looked at him, "I'm not sure, I can check in the system to see if it's here or checked out.". You said walking to the counter. He followed closely, you got to the counter typing in the password on the computer. Billy watched you closely, "So are you and Meeks dating?". You glanced over at him, "Uh, not really-".

"So you don't like him?"

"I didn't say that-"

"So you like him?-"

"Listen do you want the exorcist or not?" You fussed. Billy smirked, "Sorry just curious..".

"I like him. But I just met him." You started walking to the horror movie aisle as Billy followed.

"he seems like a nice guy. But I don't wanna-"

"Get hurt?" He interrupted.

"hurt him." You said handing him the Exorcist.

"And why would you hurt him?" Billy Whispered. You shook your head, "I don't need to justify anything to you. Now do you need anything else?".

"Got Psycho?" He asked. You grabbed it off the shelf handing it to him.

"That all?" You asked, he nodded walking towards the counter. You rang up his rentals watching him leave. Randy walked up to you standing beside you.

"What'd he do this time?"

"Nothing really. I just.. get a weird feeling from him." You whispered. Randy looked down at you, "Yeah I think we all do.". You put your elbow on the counter leaning onto it. Randy mocked your position, he looked at you.

"I was wondering.."

"About?" You asked looking over at him.

"If you wanted to come over to my place tonight. To watch a movie."

"Sure!" You smiled at him, he smiled back.

"we can watch the fog." He offered. You shrugged, "I'm thinking something more old school.".

"Like?"

"Night of the living dead. It's a classic. Or The Blob" You smiled. Randy nodded, "Good thing I already own those two at home then.". You shook your head, "Randy. Do you know where someone could buy a voice changer box?".

"No.." he said checking the returned cassettes. You sighed, "The guy that called me, it just.. didn't sit right. What if he's stalking me? You heard Sidney she got a call too!".

"I know but it could be just a prank. We can wait and see if he calls again." Randy said. You pulled yourself up to sit on the front desk.

"Still doesn't make sense. This town is so goddamn weird.". You mumbled. Randy nodded and put his arms on either side of you leaning towards you.

"I think everyone in this town is weird." He smiled. You leaned towards him, "That makes you weird.".

"I guess so." He said with a grin. You both locked eyes, his face went pink and he backed away. You grabbed his arm pulling him into a kiss.

"Was that okay?" You asked. He nodded, "Yeah. It was." He smiled.

* Holy shit, Seigi, you have got it so bad for Richard. I’m begging you, please do some self-analysis!

* Noooo not the pomegranate tree that represents Seigi and Richard’s relationshippp. 😫😫😫

* I feel like Richard’s last advice to Seigi was actually for himself.

* Seigi refusing to drink tea with Saul from the cups he and Richard would use. 😢 The pining is so strong.

* HE SAID IT. 👁️

* “Just because I spend every waking moment thinking about him, just because my heart skips a beat every time I lay eyes on his face, just because I’m having dreams about him kissing me every night, it doesn’t mean I’m in love with him” (21). JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.

* “‘Now, tell me, what happens to a young man flying on the wings of romantic dreams when he slams into the cold hard wall of reality? His delicate shell smashes into a million little pieces, scattering his contents every which way, just like an egg thrown against concrete!’” (22). I think Saul is talking about both Seigi and Richard here.

* “Was I being an emotional two-timing bastard without even realizing it?” (33). Lol kinda.

* Tanimoto is actually really emotionally intelligent. I adore this scene between her and Seigi. Seigi really just needed to talk through his feelings, huh?

* So Seigi can admit to Saul that he loves Richard, but can’t admit to himself that it’s in a romantic way. I agree that the lines between friendship and romance can get blurry—I’ve experienced it myself—but everything Seigi is saying about his feelings since Richard left him are so romance coded. Like, clearly Tsujimura wants us to think Seigi is in love with him.

* Please please can Seigi call Richard an idiot to his face? I need to see his expression.

“The Secret of Alexandrite”

* I don’t trust anyone who uses the word “brouhaha” unironically… Or who talks and talks and talks without letting the other person say more than a single sentence. Or calls England the land of Harry Potter. 🤮

* Richard’s father is an entomologist. 🙂 Let’s go bugs! 🙂

* I’m pretty surprised that Seigi explains his Richard kissing dream so plainly to Jeffrey.

* “Was even death not enough to quell the fury of the xenophobic seventh Earl of Claremont?” (103). Oh Seigi, my sweet naïve child. Nobody is as xenophobic as the British aristocracy. “‘It’s an iron-clad wall of bigotry’” (106). HA.

* “It didn’t seem to have occurred to him that the four years Richard had spent ‘running away’ was really just ‘moving’ and ‘having a career’” (115). Idk why I find this so funny. It’s not even sarcastic—it’s just facts.

* Frankly, fuck you, Jeffrey. It’s been a while since I watched the anime, but I remember Jeffrey being a lot more goofy and sympathetic than this. Either they toned him down for the show or I had severe fandom brain. (Okay, I forgot he was just trying to protect Henry, but he’s still an ass!)

* “He was looking at me with an expression of pure joy. It was the same look you’d give a beloved pet when you’re thinking, ‘Man, what a stupid little guy you are’” (130). Lol I have made this face many times at my dog. Love her so much!

“Follow the Lapis Lazuli”

* Richard leaving secret notes and showing up at the museum in drag is so iconic. What a drama queen.

* Me whenever Richard calls Seigi “my knight in shining armor”: 😳😳😳

* Nurse!Richard unlocked

* Richard hugging Seigi and squeezing him till it hurts 🥲

* “Richard enunciated the two-word idiom with the precision of a vocabulary exercise. I don’t think I’d ever heard someone say ‘Eat shit,’ with such clear and perfect intonation. He put his whole body into that one” (161). Richard, I love you so much for this. The way this paragraph was translated too, is just so hilarious.

* Wow, I’m getting really emotional about Richard taking care of Seigi like this. Please can somebody do this for me?

* Richard’s violent responses to boys confessing their romantic attraction to him is interesting. Although Richard never directly says that he’s bi, he doesn’t shut down the idea that he could be attracted to a man. But I feel like that conclusion has come after a lot of struggle with internalized homophobia. The British aristocracy is not known for being accepting of queerness, and since we know what a racist shit bag Richard’s great-grandfather was, I doubt his family had a history of accepting other forms of difference. Richard says he’s struggled with the boundaries of friendship. Maybe because he did feel romantic attraction to those friends. But he ended up lashing out once the other boy would acknowledge the romantic nature of his actions, because he couldn’t accept that he was also attracted to these boys. That would be wrong. I think it’s only once he distanced himself from his family that Richard was able to analyze his feelings with a more open minded perspective.

“The Gospel of White Sapphire”

* Even though I know Seigi has a plan, it’s still very unsettling to see him going along with Jeffrey so convincingly. And poor Richard is so confused and betrayed. 😞

* Instead of Seigi’s whole life flashing before his eyes as he prepares to destroy the diamond, it’s just the moments he felt closest to Richard. 🥲

* Okay Seigi wtf? After all this time and everything he’s done for you? Why can you not see that Richard cares about you very much? How the fuck could you possibly think that he could just move on after you got thrown in prison for saving him from the stupid will? Freaking delusional! And giving him the pudding recipe?! I need to shake this man like a rag doll.

* Richard. You cannot say things like “When you threw that stone, it rekindled my love for you,” and then be like “haha just kidding.” No.

* “When Richard finished, he gently raised his right hand and placed it on my cheek. The same hand he so carefully handled gemstones with. It was soft, and cold, and tender” (227). I got fucking chills!

* Pages 224-229. 🥹🥹🥹 Tsujimura’s writing is so beautiful here. They crafted this intimate moment so well.

* This situation where Richard and Seigi both did incomprehensible things in order to protect the other is giving me serious Good Omens vibes. At least Richard and Seigi are a hell of a lot better at communicating than Aziraphale and Crowley!

* Seigi making Richard pudding to cheer him up right after the conversation in which Richard told him not to over exert himself trying to be useful and make others happy. But Seigi himself said that when Richard is happy, Seigi is happy. So I guess there truly aren’t anything lengths Seigi wouldn’t go to to ensure Richard’s happiness. I mean, he was prepared to take on £300 million in debt and go to prison if it meant Richard could be happy with someone else. So…

* It’s good to know that Seigi doesn’t call his mom “Hiromi” because of some falling out they had. They don’t seem particularly close now, but at least they’re on good terms.

* “We talked about the things that scared us—for me, it was my family members’ tears, and for Richard, it was the mirror” (253). Heart crushed at my feet omg Richard 😢

* They literally exchanged rings and are being so sweet I’m dhdjdjdk

* “I shut my mouth and straightened up, and Richard touched my cheek with his hand. At least, I think it was his hand. It was probably his hand. His blond hair tickled my ear and then pulled away again” (262). HAHAHAHHAAAAAA

* For real though, Seigi works so well as an unreliable narrator because he’s not purposedfully misleading the reader. He genuinely is so self-deluded about his relationship with Richard.

* “Honestly, I was pretty sure that what touched my cheek earlier wasn’t his hand. But I decided to pretend that it was. I didn’t think my heart could take the alternative” (263). OH GOD.

* Richard saying “Oh, you sweet summer child,” to Seigi is too good. I’ve said that about Seigi my head so many times.

* After Richard teases Seigi that he and Tanimoto might become a couple if Seigi introduced them: “Richard cocked his head to the side. His seductive gaze was dripping with allure. I never knew he was such a ladykiller” (268). SEIGI. Just who is Richard staring at with that seductive gaze? Certainly not any ladies! 🙄

* Seigi’s subconscious truly knows more than he does. Every time he says something that expresses his true feelings about Richard, or acknowledges Richard’s feelings for him, he suddenly starts thinking about Tanimoto. Hmmm interesting. Seigi knows that he and Richard love each other, but his brain can’t put a label on what kind of love that is. It’s much easier to think about Tanimoto, who Seigi does understand his feelings for.

* God, that chapter was an absolute whirlwind. I can’t believe almost all of that happened in a single day. What a ride!

“The Bicolor Tourmaline Tease”

* First of all, this title is incredible

* Wow, Tsujimura didn’t keep us waiting at all for Richard’s return lol

* This whole volume I thought the stone on the cover was supposed to represent Jeffrey’s color-shifting alexandrite lapel pin, but apparently it’s this metaphor-rich tourmaline!

* Seigi is not into this roleplay lol

* Seigi dishes out compliments and sentimental shit to Richard all the time but he absolutely cannot take them in return. 😂

* This is really too much Richard, omg

* “‘While I can’t understand it myself, you seem to enjoy lavishing me with praise. Consequently, I do not mind you doing so. In much the same way, I would like to indulge in the sweets I love to the greatest extent my health might permit, I implore you to praise me unabashedly to your heart’s content. But in return, I eagerly await the day that praising you will bring me such joy, Seigi’” (288). I’m going fucking feral over this.

* “‘Now, what we’re you talking about, Richard? You had the audacity to call me, the man to whom you owe your life, to Japan, asking me to step in to take care of the Ginza shop ‘indefinitely,’ and what’s the first thing you do when you come back? Flirt with the part-timer?’” (291). GSJDKDK SAUL I LOVE YOU

* DID SAUL AND SEIGI PLAN THIS?? WTF

* I can’t tell if that story took years off my life due to stress, or extended my life due to sheer joy. That was pure chaos and I loved every second of it.

“Overcast Iolite”

* A nice quiet story in which Richard tries to encourage Seigi in his own way. And of course, an interesting history lesson.

“Moonstone’s Affection”

* It makes me very happy that Seigi and Richard have dinner together on Saturdays now.

* NOT “THE MOON IS BEAUTIFUL, ISN’T IT?” 👀👀👀 And Richard brought up Natsume Souseki so he knows.

* Oh god, Richard said it too. Honey…

* WAIT SEIGI KNOWS WHAT IT MEANS

* I don’t think I can handle this new era of Seigi complimenting Richard so freely.

I’m laid up with horrible cramps today so just a little blurb/ daydream about Eddie looking after his girlfriend in the same situation 🥰

“Y/N, I’m heading off now, do you need anything?” I heard my mom yell from the bottom of the stairs.

“No thanks, I’m good,” I called back, my voice hoarse in my throat.

“Ok, see you tonight,” she yelled again before I heard the front door slam shut behind her and her car start up. I lay there for a few seconds, just listening to the engine tick over. There was a loud squeak coming from the engine that mom had nagged me about a million times, but turning the music up louder so I couldn’t hear it was easier than constantly nagging my boyfriend, who’d promised to look at it.

Eventually I heard my mom pull off the driveway, and the squeak faded to silence as she made her way down the block. The clock read 8am, I should have been starting class now. Instead, I snuggled down into my pillow, pulling the covers tight around me, a hot water bottle pressed to my stomach as I closed my eyes, hoping that sleep would at least let me ignore the pain for a few hours.

I woke with a start as my bedroom window flew open, a string of curses falling from my boyfriend’s mouth as he fell head first onto my carpet.

“Jesus Christ, Eddie! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!” He jumped up from the ground, pushing his long curls back from his face.

“Sorry sweetheart,” he smiled. “I was worried, you weren’t at school so I thought I should check on you.” As I glanced at the clock, Eddie made his way to my side, sitting gently on the edge of my bed. “You ok?” He asked softly, placing his warm hand against my cheek.

“I’m fine, it’s just cramps,” I smiled tiredly. “Eds, you should still be in class.”

“You think I’m gonna sit through O’Donnell’s class when my queen is sick? What do you take me for, Y/N?” He ranted dramatically, clutching his hand to his chest in mock offense, causing me to giggle softly.

“Ok, there’s no need to be such a drama queen,” I laughed.

Suddenly a sharp pain ripped through my stomach, like a thousand tiny snakes coiling around my insides. I pulled my knees to my chest, rolling my face in to my soft pillow as a groan rumbled in my throat.

“Oh love,” Eddie soothed, rubbing my thigh softly until the pain subsided and my body relaxed. “What can I do to help?”

“Not a lot,” I shrugged. “One of those famous Munson hugs would be really nice though,” I whispered, smiling as his face lit up.

“That I can do, my love,” he grinned as he shrugged off his denim vest and leather jacket. “Scoot over.” I shuffled backwards, giving him room to climb under the covers with me, and as soon as he was tucked up beside me, I snuggled into his warm chest, the sound of his heart beating and the smell of his apple shampoo filling my senses. The feeling of his strong hands pulling me in tight against him, rubbing my back, was heavenly.

“How was Hellfire last night?” I asked him, drawing a loud laugh from him.

“The Dungeon Master went undefeated as I’d expected,” he told me smugly.

“You know, you really should ease up on them, let them have half a chance for once.”

“Huh,” he scoffed. “Absolutely not. I’m doing those little sheep a favour sweetheart, building their resilience.” I giggled, shaking my head. Only Eddie could enjoy the win so much while pretending it was for someone else’s benefit. “You doing ok my love? Comfortable?” He asked softly, his hands running lazily against my lower back. I hummed contentedly.

“Always better when you’re here Eds,” I said, moving my head to look up at him. He smiled back down at me, his deep brown eyes twinkling in the late morning sun shining in through my window. “Thank you for coming to check on me. You don’t have to stay here all day though, I doubt I’m much company.”

“Hey,” he said, one hand moving to place a gentle finger against my lips. “There is literally nowhere else I’d rather be. Wanna take care of my girl,” he grinned, lowering his face to mine, the tip of his nose brushing softly against mine before he kissed me, his lips soft, warm against mine, the heady combination of cigarettes and minty gum so Eddie, so comforting. “I love you baby,” he whispered as he snuggled his head back into my pillow.

“I love you too,” I smiled as I closed my eyes, burying my face back in his chest, the sound of his steady heartbeat slowly lulling me into a gentle sleep.
