I wanna know where to ignore all details and where to go ham you feel me?#i used to dream about developing a style like for MtG where it looked like a masterful oil painting that oozes realism and details #and i've realised the last two years or so that I would actually hate that for me. I know I wouldn't enjoy doing it. For myself.#it's that pipeline from wanting to be the perfect realistic wotc artist to accepting that I will never be that #instead i wanna learn how to stylise better and get a good brush economy going yknow. hi! i love your brisbane meshi au and saw you mention that you headcanon senshi as japanese-iranian. genuinely curious, is there a reason why?

a lot of the reasons i read him as japanese are most likely little bits of cultural influence from miss ryoko herself but i still think its fun to tack them onto his characterisation (like the type of food he makes and his quiet, self-sufficient style of masculinity)

the iranian part mainly comes from how hes drawn in modern au sketches/with his helmet off hehee i was reading the ddh volumes in between chapters and it rly struck me how much he looks like a very beautiful middle-eastern man LOL

#like i know him. i seen this guy in the city #ask #im sure theres characterisation to be gleaned from this beyond the surface level stuff but im not the white boy to do it #i just think hes neat #iranian was a dart thrown eyes closed btw theres no particular reason for that country. i could see him as turkish or some other variety of #mediterranean/mid eastern #the face of a man who dips a bread in an olive oil

The cost of sophistication is being a little more "delicate" than one would care to acknowledge. Gold has all sorts of malfunctions and hiccups every now and then. at least one every 3 or 4 months. Usually minor tics that, at worst, he would need to hit his chest like a staticky box tv to get it up and working again. But there are other more... Violent outbursts that require a more involved hand... Either way, they can all be summed up as; unfun.

I think a lot about Gortash tentatively showing The Dark Urge his designs for the Steel Watchers. Showing off what works and being slightly embarrassed about what doesn’t. And then they point it out. There’s too much mass and not enough strength here. Or there’s not enough flexibility at this point. And when he asks them how they reached that conclusion they tell him about the intricacies of the forms of men and beasts, of ligaments and muscle, of nerve endings twitching. That there is mechanism in flesh, and that the mind and body may be cleaved from each other but are always calling to each other until the very last throes of death.

And he thinks of their bodies calling to each other.

He thinks of nerves and minds connecting.

He thinks of how utterly brilliant they are.
