Entirely inconsequential and very likely improbable undertale theory time!

Chara, given the Narrator!Chara theory is true, was the one to run away during the Undyne fight.

Evidence:

In a neutral run, Sans' Judgment Speech includes the following line of dialog ...

... even if you never run away from a single fight during random encounters.

The only character you HAVE to flee from is Undyne in order to get her to Hotland. It's also one of the few fights where Sans is physically present to witness (with the others being Gryftrot and Shyren, both of which can be ended through sparing). With no other examples, this has to be the running away Sans is referring to.

But, why in the world would Frisk be smiling?

This is the most dangerous, difficult battle Frisk has been in so far. It's the only boss fight, to that point anyway, where the attacker has genuine desire to see you dead. On top of that, Undyne comments on your actions throughout the battle - your sparing, your pleas, your determination. There's no way that she WOULDN'T comment on a smile unless she somehow missed it (say, you had your back to her).

On top of this, Frisk has never been described smiling except in reference to Chara during the genocide route, where both Monster Kid and Flowey comment on their "sick" and "creepy" expression, repeatedly telling you that the situation isn't funny- implying the iconic smile.

It's also been suggested that Chara tends towards smiling in stressful situations, so perhaps they realized that sticking around was bad news and tried getting Frisk to bolt by opening the FLEE option.

But getting past speculation, here's the slight bit of evidence I took and ran with:

The narration only speaks in the first person when Chara is the subject, sometimes in white text.

The ESCAPE dialog, though typically basic, will occasionally read:

...entirely in the first person.

This is also the only time the RED soul does anything interesting, unlike the others, who each have special properties in battle. (BLUE has gravity, GREEN heals and keeps you in a closed space, YELLOW shoots, PURPLE traps, ORANGE punches and moves, CYAN is still until its safe to move). It's possible that DETERMINATION, or RED, has the ability to use MERCY in battle or, at the very least, FLEE, given that the soul changes to have legs.

With all this put together, there's at least some chance that Chara stepped in during the Undyne fight to allow the option to flee. Perhaps the soul resists Undynes' magic in some way? After all, she has no reason at all to turn Frisks soul from Green to Red, especially after the first time they escape. Maybe it's just too difficult to keep a constant hold on them, so she relents for brief periods until she can gather her strength again? This would explain her frustration with Frisk running away, but her apparent inability to do anything about that as the fight progresses. It would also explain why Sans mentions Frisk smiling when fleeing her.

While this is mostly just a fun idea that adds to Frisk and Chara's dynamic and makes a funny scene, it could have further implications. For example, it might imply that Frisk's choices are given to them by Chara. This might explain the repaired MERCY button during Asgore's fight. It would also suggest that Chara is constantly supplying Frisk with helpful information on the underground and the monsters, including peaceful pathways to resolve conflict (because honestly, most people encountering a weird alien creature trying to steal you soul would not immediately think that Flirting with or being cleaned by them would lead to success).

What do you think? I personally highly doubt this was intentional and was just a throw-away line for dramatics on Sans' part, but I also like to think that the dialog and set designs are very literal and reflect a wider world/ story. Please let me know your interpretation!

Fool in the Moon binding

All right, time for a successful binding post, how about that? This was for @arahir's amazing work, Fool in the Moon. As you can probably tell by the rest of my feed right now I'm a little obsessed with Trigun at the moment (it's okay, it's normal, I feel normal things about all of these people, I'm not obsessing and listening to the soundtrack 24 hours a day, I haven't watched the whole thing twice in two weeks, all of my targeted ads on my computer aren't about plants right now, I'm fine) and suffice to say this story was just an emotional gut punch. It's so good, you guys. Go read it.

Anyway. The binding.

This was my first time using holofoil vinyl, and it turned out AMAZING. Look how pretty it is. And the color change in the light is just crazy.

Here's the back. Sorry I don't know how to make a gif, or I would totally show you guys how it shimmers and ripples. At certain angles it's green, blue, purple, orange, sometimes you can get it to be all of those at once, it's a really neat effect.

Also, I love the effect it gives when you open the book up (hard to do once it's bound with the textblock, but doable. This picture was taken before I cased in).

You have to squint your eyes a little but it's supposed to be reminiscent of Vash's sunglasses, and the way (spoilers? maybe?) his face looks when the plant lines come out. I think it's just the super neatest thing.

I just made them with the draw tool in Libreoffice, I wanted it to reflect the lines of the endpapers and maybe (?) look like dunes. Either way I think it turned out really great. I kind of maybe wish that I could have incorporated some of Wolfwood's imagery into this, but the design pretty much made itself and I'm super happy with it. Plus at the end of the day everything is about Vash, isn't it? He's Vash the Stampede! (I'm not crying YOU'RE crying!)

Anyway, I figured out the reason my previous book was so crooked was because my guillotine is messed up. It can't cut straight (which is...kind of the point) but it does okay on smaller works like this. So this one cased in very nicely. I used the 5 mm gutters again, and duo bookcloth (magpie I want to say?). The cricut vinyl came in a sample pack and unfortunately didn't come with a name (the sample pack was called Berry something), but it's very similar to Siser's Rainbow Pearl HTV, which is what I used for my copy. Once again the siser was a pain to use, with little bits flying off everywhere and wanting to wrinkle underneath the iron. I don't know why I keep buying that brand. But it worked in the end, and the effect of the holofoil is so cool I'll probably use it again. Endpapers are from Mulberry paper, I love those guys so much.

My last "X eyes" theory, the big one.

I have made many theories (probably definitely too many) as to who/what this guy is and I suspect (know) it's getting annoying so I am just going to put every theory right here, including a couple new ones!

The format for each theory goes as such:

Theory 1: This is CYN/The AS

Simple, it's CYN, the one that far too many people are saying is true. To clarify, this theory says it's JUST CYN, not the true form of the AS or anything like that, just good ol' mansion CYN.

It kinda looks like her.

CYN isn't in the poster

This character is being hidden and HEAVILY foreshadowed, we've already seen CYN

The hair is too small

CYN has never made those eyes

The drawings mostly come from Nori, whom had some form of precognition or just saw CYN's plan, which implies that this has not happened yet

Theory 2: This is an eldritch character.

This is probably my second least favorite one but it does have far more evidence supporting it.

V is "killed", which would supposedly give us Eldritch V

Hasn't happened yet

We don't know what all Eldritch characters look like, they might not all be jawless-holo-spooky-snake-crabs.

V isn't in the poster

Sentinels are (allegedly) designed to fight and kill DD's, which would include the eldritch form

Uzi says that if Alice killed V that she would get quote "a freaky worm", which implies that they ARE all jawless-holo-spooky-snake-crabs

Theory 3: It's a new form of CYN/The AS

The second most likely one... with about two real problems.

Theory 4: It's possessed Uzi

The most likely one, probably the correct one. I don't actually mind this one, this one feels like the realistic pick. I found a lot more evidence against this than I thought I would but it wouldn't bother me if this was the correct one.

Hair is an almost exact match (see here)

Uzi is being possessed as we speak

Hasn't happened yet

CYN didn't get the X eyes when possessed, why would Uzi?

That's not what her hair normally looks like

She's already in the poster

The repeated use of the X eyes would suggest that they are a constant, Uzi (very briefly) flickered them once

Uzi's hair is A: longer and B: purple

The teeth

Theory 5: It's something completely new

My personal favorite one, mainly because I'm a simp for the SD-S theory.

Hasn't happened yet AND would explain why the picture on the left exists, that drone may have seen this character personally in cabin fever labs, thus explaining why a "normal" drone could draw it

Would provide more lore on Nori

The hair being similar to Uzi's could just be Nori's design/Nori made the hair for this character

Would kinda explain the 6-7 month wait

Could be a "experiment gone horribly wrong" type character, explaining the eyes

Could explain why and how the sentinels exist

Foreshadowing would HIT

I'm honestly just coping for the fact that it's probably CYN

The exact same problem as theory 3

Conclusion

Most if not all of the evidence points to this at least being something we haven't seen yet. While most of the evidence could also just be ignored, the two theories that answer the most questions and have the most/best evidence are probably theories 4 and 5.

In conclusion: this is ether someone new or at least a new form of somebody, heavy foreshadowing to me means that this thing is going to have some sort of importance to the story that isn't just "yellow Uzi".

At the absolute BARE MINIMUM, this thing is going to have a unique personality or, well, perhaps a lack of one.

Only included DR, SDR2, NDRV3 - we'd be here forever if it was the entire franchise. Also only accounting for their ingame default outfits

The placements on each tier is deliberate, the closer the character is to the top of that tier, the higher they are. I judge them by: >Prominence of the Talent, its practicality >Relevance to the character's identity/personality >Colour and aesthetics :]

[S-TIERS]

Like Gundham for example is an S-Tier design as it ticks all above boxes whilst still in a school uniform. The Four Dark Devas are important to the design, they go with him everywhere and the 5 of them are a UNIT which shows his strong connection with animals. I love the bandages and the eye-scar as it has a double meaning that indicates yes he works with animals (they can be rowdy), but as a character Gundham builds onto this detail using these scars to create this dark angsty facade. Aesthetic-wise by his hair he has a unique character silhouette, and I like how his purple is made the focal point by the blacks and whites of his uniform... both reinforcing the villain-facade and highlighting the importance of the Four Dark Devas.

Similar reasonings for the other Top 2 of Souda and Miu this time toppled with the strong yellows and pinks in their design. It's eye-catching and easily conveys what their talent is. (I really wish they kept Miu's promo-art backpack into her regular sprites, imagine her emoting with 4 arms isn't that awesome >:] )

Honorable mention to Impostor (Twogami) as well. While the regular Togami design is... mid. I really appreciate how contrasting Impostor's colours and accessories are down to the necktie and poses! Like yes they are impersonating Togami, but their values and personality as a person are not the same. The deception of Togami's dark clothing vs honest white suit of the Impostor's. Impostor fucking CLEARS regular togami any day on all accounts I will die on that hill.

[GOOD CHARACTER DESIGN]

A lot of the talent indications on this tier are more subtle in compare to S-tier but they get the job done and they do it in a pleasing way (I like the colour palettes on Chiaki, Mikan and Ibuki for example). Like I loveeee Sonia's uniform especially for it's simplicity. And yet the design still alludes to the Princess talent by elegance in the bow, the brooch, her crowned braid and how the shape of her skirt resembles that of a puffy princess gown. I also think the reds in the design like Snow White are a cute touch!

To me, Sonia should be the standard in what a Danganronpa design SHOULD be in accordance to detail.

[BAD CHARACTER DESIGN]

[ie the Green and Blue tiers] Reasoning why I put them here mainly because of wasted potential, either too basic (in a sense it doesn't tell much about that character) or not practical in any way for their talent... I HATE Ryoma's stripe leggings ik he went to prison but the execution of the concept looks awful.

And I hate Akane's and Sakura's outfits particularly cuz you KNOW why they made those skirts so short and I hate that. We could have gotten awesome gymnast of martial artist outfits but no......

I added Kiibo in that bottom tier because structurally even as a robot he is a visual nightmare if you're an artist trying to draw him. Especially when most of his suit is different shades of black and complicated chest cavity. And I despise the way that it looks like these robo-plates are attached on top of what looks like fabric long sleeves and pants as if the designer was too scared to fully commit to him being a robot. He is NOT 3D-optimised and he is NOT animator-friendly I'd throw up if I ever had to deal with him.

Random Dump 5 ft. Wips

explanations for the drawings under the cut cause i feel like it (very long under there yer warned)

lotta these are from my old tablet

1st- The song "Sleep" by MCR, with Celeste. From an older version of the "Of Heaven and Mortal" story, where Polaris leaves on purpose and Celeste's pissed about it. Bonus points that Celeste is a dream god!

2nd- Designing every single warrior cat (tm). May get back to this may not. I used a base, to which i have no idea who made it or where i got it from, since its from my old tablet (which is like 7? 8? years old at this point)

3rd- Cold Island Theme from My Singing Monsters, ft. Celeste (the constellation), Strawberry (pink dragon bleeding), and Quetz (wind god, at the bottom protecting strawberry). Later in the "Of Heaven and Mortal"/"Of All and None" storyline, where Celeste drives Strawberry insane. ;)

4th- Random concept doodle, from "Of Sea and Gale", supposed to be a close friend of Samuel's when he lived in the Wind Kingdoms royal palace. The friend had a masssssive crush, as ya do, but nothing comes of it

5th- "Animal" by *repeat repeat. Tord (red cat) manipulating Tom (grey/brown cat) into killing Edd (green outlines...). Forget what the motive was but Tord is de-clawed, and hey, cool poses. And gayness. Always a win.

6th- Another random doodle, made when i was watching demon slayer (specifically the Mount Natagumo Arc). Extravagant for no reason. Just the way i like it.

7th- "Love, Love, Love" by Of Monsters and Men. Ft Marquis (white one) and Holly (purple one). Among us ocs turned furry! Who'da thought. Marquis wants to show Holly all the love in the world but she isn't ready. (Their refs are in this post, if any of you remember)

8th- Was supposed to be a companion peice to Mushroom. "Chicken", as i delightfully call him, was gonna be a sort of opposite/complementary cat to Mushroom, a right-hand man of sorts. Why Chicken? Cause mushrooms taste like chicken. Anyway,

9th- "Grapes" by James Marriott. Tom was supposed to be in this peice, saying the line "I fell for someone new, but she's just another girl that looks like you!", buuuut i could never get how he looks right. So now its just Tord who looks like a spider just jumped out at him.

10th- This meme. But with TomTord. And Jon. Because i cannot help myself. Not Jons final design for the AU, but hey, good first attempt :). Tord and Jon are friends in the AU!

11th- SNOWTUFT!! HIM!! DA BOY!! I just wanted to draw him, honest. Ig some design notes/headcannons, his claws aren't naturally long- he just underuses em, so they're overgrown. He cant really see out of the scarred eye and ear, an perfers to keep his eye closed. Very expressive lil man. Yowls for attention

Yo Y'all, I made another cult of the Lamb oc.

Alright, the reason why there are three is because I am not proud of the colouring, the official one is the first one with the red and royal gold on the horn and patterns. While the second with colour purple and blue are their version in Anchor deep. (got this idea from @roseofdarkness0 thank you you genius)

His name is Eyesore. He got his name from his tribe, it were an insult due to ever since since young, one of the bishop just said 'what an eyesore at him.' Ever since then the giant serpent tribe see this as a blessing of the god who bestow the name upon others. Eyesore is not happy with his name much.

His backstory is tragic and the reason on why he is a proud dissenters. Due to his instinct that told him all the red flags one day, he went out to hunt to calm down his nerves. But when he return back to his tribe, he soon found out that all of his friends and family, everybody in the giant serpent tribe are all killed and sacrificed in the name of the bishops. He learn it when he witness the evil cultist killed his father after successfully fooled his father to trick the tribe into their traps and get killed. Now that the cultist think the giant serpent went extinct, they had no idea Eyesore is the last survivor. So caught up in his rage and desire for revenge in blood, he vow to kill all bishops in his claws.

He make a good progress on killing many evil cultist in his own, just for him to slowly learn that the lamb with the red crown is the one who did the most progress on killing the bishops then himself. He thought nothing until he slowly learn that the lamb is going to be the new god. Strike up the fear and rage once again, he know that soon with this new god, the cycle of capturing innocents and sacrifice under their name might once again be revoke. To his surprised when he were met face by face by the lamb, they offer him to join their cult. Of course he refuse and nearly destroy the lamb but then fall back later since the lamb manage to revive themself again.

anyways, here are some doodle that if Eyesore is in the lamb cult, this would be them everyday. Just Eyesore attempt to kill the poor bishops who lost their godhood and power and taking this as an advantage.

ps : sorry for my bad grammar. I am not a good writer and this is the idea for now, his story and background isn't fully developed yet and I might added more in the future. But I still love his design jknkgjgnkjg

What about Fresh Sans?? lmao

Fresh gets a smooch-ability rating of 4. There's a fair amount of risks involved because he's so unpredictable, but if you want a more in depth explanation on the rating itself, you can find it below the cut

1) How dangerous is Fresh's mouth? His teeth aren't sharp or jagged at all by any means and they're flat, so one would assume his mouth is safe. Parasite aside, I'm giving his mouth itself a 2 for safety. I will talk about the parasite too, but it'll be in another section

2) Would Fresh bite? If he felt like being a heathen, then yes, I'm convinced he would. It completely depends on the circumstances and if he wants to get a reaction out of you. Is he aggressive? Well, we've seen how he interacts with others in Underverse. While it seems playful and lighthearted, everything he does happens for a reason. He's got ulterior motives and things you don't know about going through his head, and if he thought he needed to be aggressive for whatever reason, he's more than willing and capable of doing so. All things considered, he gets no points for this

3) Are there any health hazards to the smoocher? If you remember the fact that he's a weird little parasite that hijacks people's bodies, then yes, that in and of itself poses a threat to the smoochers wellbeing. Due to how having your mouth too close to his for too long could lead to your body being hijacked and him being an untrustworthy little turd, he gets 0 points for this one

4) Does he have a sympathetic backstory? From what I understand, he's literally just this weird parasite who popped into existence at one point, and decided to make it everyone else's problem. So no, his backstory isn't very sympathetic. He doesn't even have the capacity to feel guilt or sadness over what he does to people; he can only mimic those feelings based on what he's seen and read, which makes his entire story even less sympathetic. I love him, but I'm forced to give 0 points again

5) Does he deserve a smooch? Body hijacking, blatant lying, occasional manipulation and tampering with other people's things, then harassing others for the lolz already make him undeserving (to me), but the cherry on top is his gremlin behavior. While it's funny to watch it happen to other people, you probably wouldn't enjoy it very much if it happened to you, repeatedly, without rhyme or reason, and at random times without warning. 0 points, once again

6) Is Fresh cute or cool? His colorful outfits are pretty eye bleeding and his particular dialect and way of speaking is obnoxious at best, and completely incomprehensible and infuriating at worst. He's not necessarily a cutesy character, and his design gives me a headache to look at with all the clashing colors and neons, but I do love it, oddly enough. I have no idea why, either. His design is a very distinct one and its entirely unique to him, and he's very entertaining and spontaneous. While I wouldn't wanna deal with him myself, I do enjoy reading things or looking at art or other media that he's in. So for this, I'll give 2 coolness points

Fresh's smooch-ability rating is 4. If it's your first time meeting him, you'll be getting a smooch either way. If you've already met him, then a smooch would either make him mentally blue screen for a moment, before he cracks some kind of weird joke about it or not-so-subtley tells you not to do it again. If it goes horribly wrong at any point, you could be really badly hurt or lose your body to a purple starfish looking parasite. That risk doesn't really seem worth it to me, but hey, it's on you if you wanna take the gamble and plant a smooch on him

can you talk about why you disliked undertale yellow? never played it or watched a playthrough but i’m very curious!

PREFACING THIS WITH A DISCLAIMER i know it is a passion project and it makes me Feel Bad that my feelings on it r this negative. i do not mean to discredit the years of work anybody put into it and i am So Happy that the general consensus is that people really liked it! i'm glad the team's work paid off. i am also going to be SUPER opinionated. undertale is my biggest interest of all time it has been my special interest for going on Nine Years . i am Wired to have very strong feelings on it . please do NOT take my opinion as a message to Not enjoy it if you do! play it and form an opinion on ur own time

also SPOILERS for the game!

that being said

i will first state the things i Enjoyed

music was phenomenal! it was very fun and atmospheric

artwork was very good! it makes me a little sad that the canon characters we see didn't really get the tlc/polish that all of the original content did, but that's ok!

i like how smarmy flowey was in the no mercy run. it was a little ooc at times but i had a blast (which will sadly become a negative) partly bc of his attitude

i love mo as a character. im going to rescue him from this game i just know it

ok. things that frustrate me from least to most (i will try to keep this brief bc i WILL go on a tangent if left unrestrained)

i wish the main cast had more variety in monster types. body shape, proportions, colors, etc! with how wide the array of the cast is in ut, it's just a little sad that the main cast here all roughly have the same build, height, and aren't really "monstery". lots of the non-main characters (i am including the feisty five in here) have more diverse and visually interesting designs to me and i wish there was just a bit more variety

add-on to the previous point: something abt the fact that dalv just kind of looks like a human Guy who is Purple with Horns makes me irrationally irritated. they could have put a little more of a bat motif in there or Something because the first time i saw him i genuinely didn't think he was supposed to be a monster

some of the fights are NONSENSE BULLSHIT HARD for no reason. some of these have been fixed since release but there were multiple segments that weren't even like. main story character fights that made me want to rip my hair out. additionally the shops are FEW and FAR between. it was a STRUGGLE to get enough healing items 90% of the time and i had to ration them out constantly

i know most were patched out and this is kind of a nitpick but the complete ABUNDANCE of grammatical and spelling errors on release took me out of the flow of things SO much. places that desperately needed a comma that had none, words completely misspelled (outside of punchlines for jokes), things like that. it wouldn't have been such a problem but it happened SO much and really got into the way of making sure dialogue progressed as normal. speaking of

i'm so sorry. half of the dialogue and jokes make me want to shriek and scream in agony. maybe it's just not my cup of tea and nobody is forcing you to have completely toby-fox-accurate jokes in your game but the majority of the jokes made in the pacifist/neutral runs fall completely flat for me. the general dialogue is very fanfic-esque to me in a way ? i do Not know how to describe it. it's not Good. along w that i'm sorry but in my opinion the way they wrote asgore in there is COMPLETELY out of character. i'm going to be so so honest mr king "fuzzy pushover" fluffybuns isn't going to go GET OUT OF MY SIGHT AND NEVER RETURN!!!!! the man got beat up by a child and took her in to train her. like yeah his garden is sentimental or whatever but like. he is such a Nice Guy. he would Not do that

the timeline does not make Any sense. if frisk is the first human to fall in YEARS to the point where everyone is losing hope of ever getting another soul for the barrier and most monsters don't recognize you as a human and let you interact w them freely why in the Fuck are undyne and alphys just like. alive and kicking here. why is alphys doing amalgamate shit already. what is going ON

and finally. the part that makes me the Most Irritated

i cannot fucking stand the story. I AM SORRY

i physically cannot expound on this as much as i want to bc the post is long enough as it is and i'll go on forever but generally speaking

i Do Not Like ceroba. i didn't really feel any connection or anything to any of the other characters in General but her entire deal and everything that surrounds it just makes me So Mad. like ok. i tried to get past the "oh my husband is a super important scientist (but not the royal scientist because that's alphys teehee but still REALLY important) and he's also secretly a boss monster (even though the only boss monsters we see are the Actual Fucking King and Queen of monsters and are the same monster subtype)" shit but like. THEN it's like. oh he's actually making a super secret magic serum that uses essence from a boss monster soul and a human soul (where did he get that. he made this after he was fired from his job. where did he get a human soul from) to give EVERY monster the power of a boss monster so that when we EVENTUALLY get enough souls to get to the surface (could literally be hundreds of years from now) we'll be strong enough to beat the humans (that's why asgore is collecting the souls in the first place. to shatter the barrier and become a god strong enough to beat the humans. that's the Point)

but WUH OH!!!! the serum is actually KILLING him!!!! and he never told his wife! so he leaves a series of tapes behind to tell her abt it after he dies and IN THESE TAPES he's like listen. here's this awesome potion im making. you need a BOSS MONSTER SOUL and a HUMAN SOUL to make it work. our daughter IS a boss monster. BUT. do NOT FUCKING use it on her. ok. DON'T. do that. ok love you (dies) AND FUCKING. her like 6 year old daughter walks in and speaks in a perfect eloquent sentence and says some shit like "we have to carry on daddy's legacy :(" and asks to be injected w the shit that we saw kill her dad SECONDS PRIOR and ceroba is virtually IMMEDIATELY like well ok if the kindergartner says it's fine. AND OF COURSE HER DAUGHTER IMMEDIATELY FALLS DOWN????

and when i tell u the like. WHOLE second half of the game is dedicated to this bullshit nonsense. ceroba has this whole thing where she's trying to kill you because you're pure of heart or whatever and it'll work for the serum or something and after a LONG ASS (stupid incredibly hard for no reason considering SHE IS NOT a boss monster) battle w her she's like ok i'm not gonna do that anymore i give up kill me etc. and in pacifist you're like nah i won't kill u i forgive you Hooray!

and so. right. youve been fighting the ENTIRE TIME. to find the missing kids. to get home. to leave the underground after figuring out what happened. there are only FIVE human souls at this point. having one more will NOT break the barrier. you've been fighting to LIVE this Entire Time. the story must end in clover's death SOMEHOW but literally the driving force here has been survival

clover is literally like ummmm ok well im gonna give up my soul right here right now to add it to the pile. *dies on rooftop ALONE* . the shriek i screamed when this happened was. Astronomical. like. oh yeah everybody let the 9 year old give their life for a civilization that has been trying to kill them this Entire Time. never mind the fact it makes all of the fighting and striving and grueling we did Worthless because clover decides to sacrifice themselves completely out of the player's control. this wouldn't make me AS mad if we had like. a choice like the forgive him/do not asriel thing where we could face asgore and be forced to lose OR sacrifice ourselves but even then it's just. SO silly to me.

i think i get the like. doomed parents sad child dreemurr parallels they were TRYING to go for but it is all so clunky and wonky and. just DOES not work narratively if you think about ANY aspect of it for too long

all of these factors combined made the game a complete and total Slog to get through . it is Not just me i streamed it to a few friends the whole time and the opinion was the Same

HOWEVER.

the no mercy run, completely against what it is MADE to do, was fucking awesome

the passive aggressive comments from flowey the entire time were hilarious. the power trip i got chasing axis was splendid. i didn't have to sit through pages of dialogue that made my eye twitch. i just got to Kill People.

i do Not like the fact that they seemed to think no mercy = Hard Bosses which. isn't really true for undertale ? out of the normal bosses only two are ramped up in difficulty and it thematically makes sense Why. in uty martlet gets multiple fights (including a Bullshit Insane Hard Final Fight), ceroba gets a Bullshit Insane Hard fight w a new mechanic that is introduced out of Nowhere and took me like 6 times to notice that it was even Implemented, and axis gets a tough fight. which is Fine but i do not think it really understood the message of like. the no mercy run is not supposed to be Fun. you are eviscerating this world and everything it has to offer. you're literally Killing the game. it's a tricky thing to balance but all in all No part of it made me feel bad. this could be due to me Already not really caring abt any of the characters but. sigh

also martlet gets really strong at the end bc she injects herself w dt but like. why does she know about that. she does guard stuff Near the Lab but why does she Know about the experiments. the whole point is that nobody Else Knows. where did she get that from. what the fuck

anyway. says that i won't go on for too long. proceeds to go on for too long like some kind of Liar

Uh. Funny wording from you Michael about "Replacing body parts" and seems a bit germophobic in the way he talks about Mike's injury.

Sure that has no significance at all.

Mike doesn't seem all that concerned saying the disturbing line given all we know about him "It's not my first bad injury"

Also Michael buddy, personal space.

Oh.

So that's what his hair looks like when it's brushed. X'D

Why does he have two toothbrushes in his bathroom?

Clearly two distinct individuals live here...whoever uses the bubble gum one is implied to be more childish.

Yes. You can gather all that from the background detail of toothpaste. That's the whole reason it's there. :)

Anyway about what Mike actually SAYS:

He finds Michael overbearing. Oof.

He CONFORMS his hair is dyed, it needs to be cut and considers dying his eyebrows.

In the ream of symbolism: Mike dying his hair implies he's covering something up.

In the realm of just normal shit: He doesn't like his natural hair color for whatever reason.

His choice of grey specifically could be dug into: as it's symbolism is mostly uniformity, blandness, and gloom.

But mainly I chose his hair color to be grey because you don't see a lot of young characters with grey hair. You see white haired characters (Ethan Winters in this series being an example of a white haired character) but not grey.

Mike embraces a hair color that makes him look older.

Also note: Mike doesn't brush his hair normally. It's a mess. Mike doesn't like his current haircut either.

Changing your hair is usually a sign of control, so the fact Mike seems to dislike so much about his hair is a sign he doesn't have much control in his life.

We don't get to hear what Cody/Fredbear says about the matter, but whatever it is this person's "That's awful" leads us to think something BAD is happening....

Anyways:

Mike's outfit:

He's wearing a pale cyan Freddy jacket. The fact he owns Freddy's merch is very amusing. He clearly has a history with the place so him owning merch makes sense.

Funny enough despite Bonnie being Mike's favorite animatronic, twice now Mike is being associated with Freddy. It's the animatronic Cody picked to turn him into, and now he's wearing a Freddy jacket.

Those who know the game over sequence for FNAF 1 would know: Mike Schmidt is stuffed inside of a Freddy Fazbear suit. So these COULD just be cheeky nods to that. ;)

Why DOES Mike own Freddy merch despite Bonnie being his favorite?

He's mostly going just for Bonnie which is funny. He's also curious if "Evidence" is around.

He's very excitable and wearing a cute purple turtle neck.

This house's inside coloring is based on the FNAF 4 minigame house. Because I make the rules lmao.

Mike wears cute pink heart socks and I just like that he's cute like that.

There are STAINS on the floor, specifically blood stains. They've "Always been there" according to Michael. Suspicious.

These stains origins are shown off in the SL comic but I won't spoil who they are from for people who are reading this first.

Mike is very offput by this.

They head to Michael's room.

Michael's room is based on the room we play in FNAF 4. Because I find that interesting.

This isn't mentioned here or anywhere really but shit you can infere if you read FNAF 4 and SL comics: Michael owns Cody's stuffed animals now, but Josh's old room is Michael's current room.

So Michael got a lot of things from his dead siblings it seems.

His "Friends" are creepy as sin.

Michael's expecting questions cause of what Bonnie said.

Michael asks Mike about his own father, which prompts Mike to be uncomfortable to say the least.

He hasn't spoken to his father in a long time.

Michael's brain seems to break from this idea and he comes off as super rude but he's just shocked.

Haha. Mrs. Afton is an interesting subject.

Again where she is is addressed in the Sister Location and FNAF 4 comic but for now, it's left to what Micheal says.

He doesn't remember her at all or a LOT of things. Because our boy had a terrible accident and he took awhile to recover from it and he has memory issues from before he got into said accident.

Mr. Afton's parting wasn't nice to say the least considering William is "Mad at her" and he refuses to talk about her.

Mike monologues to himself, coming to the realization Mrs. Afton might be dead.

And Michael's accident might have been from Freddy's.

Would make sense.

And we get a fun Alice in Wonderland reference with the Spring Bonnie animatronic.

It's design was inspired by the "Into the pit" Fazbear's fright books.

Hah. Micheal might not be as innocent as he lets on, note how he is now cuddling a Golden Freddy plushie.

And he resigns to his life is better without his mother and Mike is better off without his father.

Despite being a grown up, Michael's view on the world and his situation seem rather, childish. Which would make sense considering he lost a lot of his memories. It also makes his living situation, living with his father still make more sense. William is very protective over Michael.

Mike's reluctant to join the Freddy's family.

Buddy you dunno how deep in you're gonna get at some point lmfao.

Michael also did an oopsie slip up there if you notice:

"Let's forget about our crap parents"

...Michael.

Parents there is plural.

As in. He thinks William is crap too despite what he just said lmfao.

You might be starting to realize: Michael is masking a whole lot.

What he says/does does not reflect the real Michael Afton. He only seems to let his façade drop and talk honestly around Ennard and Bonnie so far. He's still pretending in front of Mike keeping a cheerful attitude.

And they have a totally relevant talk about ice cream.

If you know FNAF lore you know why "ice cream" is a disturbing topic but again this is smth for Sister Location.

Michael "Can't taste a difference" between frozen and fresh pizza.

Absolutely no symbolism in that line at all.

You can really take this however you want but small lines like this are kinda "Oh I get it" lines later. XD

Michael can't tell when he's being "Deceived", Michael will go with a widely accepted "Crappy" version of something because he just can't tell the difference.

A wider concept of disceptation/imitations being overlooked.

Or you can take William's preference as the odd one here.

William prefers something that in truth has no significant or quantifiable difference.

He enjoys the heir of something "better" when in truth there is no real difference and Michael appreciates things just because they're there.

Or it's just a comment about how Michael literally cannot taste things...

Michael stop flirting.

Also FNAF fans yes the allusions to another character is strong with Michael and that is 100% intentional. If you get it you get it.

He pretends. He knows how to make ice cream. He puts on an air of wanting to help fsr is very comforting when he talks hiding his true nature.

Again Sister Location.

This is another clip studio one I know for sure cause of the asset text bubbles I used for awhile.

Anyways:

Mike and Michael are watching TV.

Sister Location Michael Afton go brrrr wonder if they're watching immortal and restless X'D-

Ironic how Michael is cuddling the plush of an animatronic his brother got his head crushed by/is trapped inside. This is the second time he's doing it but he actually switched plushies as the one he was hugging earlier was a bit more scuffed looking. This one is obviously meant to be Fredbear from the purple hat while the one he was hugging earlier had a black hat and a contorted face.

Mike is obviously hugging a Bonnie plush. it's coloration is off from the Bonnie plushies we've seen earlier so we can think this thing is either a prototype or perhaps another location's Bonnie.

Either way: Despite Michael being childish he's willing to share his plushies with Mike and let Mike hold his Bonnie plush. He wasn't lying when he said he'd try to make Mike feel welcomed.

Jeremy refuses to come to the house because William's off putting. Jeremy's a rather skittish person so that makes sense. Though again we get another instance to Michael and Jeremy Fitzgerald being pretty good friends.

And speak of the devil and he shall appear! :D It's Willy Billy Afton.

William drives Michael mad.

What do you mean by "Those friends" William.

"That was one time"

and "Jeremy is from work too"

The implication is Jeremy and Michael had relations and William saw it lmfao because I find that hilarious.

So smth to note here:

The characters Fritz Smith and Sammy Emily are names used for one character inter-changeably.

This AU swapped his name around and this page refers to him as "Fritz" but past a certain point it's almost exclusively Sammy.

Anyways:

What THINGS did Sammy/Fritz tell William exactly?

Michael seems annoyed by William's presence even calling William a "Creepy old man" and to "Leave Mike alone"

William acts over dramatic about this.

Michael continues to be a menace to his aged father.

And William asks a question that confuses the crap out of Michael.

Mike's mom is nuts too, supposedly.

Mike's gonna stay the night though.

So, they're playing games together.

And Michael is "Not good at games".

Makes sense why Bonnie's the one who does the claw machine not him hah.

We know Mike likes to play video games...so it can be inferred his annoyance here is because he's actually good at them. X'D

Evidently: Michael is not a fan of "The other owner's son"

Conforming there's another owner outside of William.

Presumably Henry.

We hit 180 so gotta pick this up again.

My first post on this. I had it written for a little over 3 weeks. I hope u Enjoy it.

background:

I am the illegitimate child of the Goetia family , after I were born my mother fled the Pride ring to the Greed ring. Fast forward, I was 20 years old and got a job opportunity with the 3 V's as one of Velvette's models to start out with. My mother doesn't want me to go mostly for safety (and the fact that your father hasn't sent his spell book yet). But I had to take this opportunity, if I didn't I don't know when this will come back. Not only that, I would get to work with Vox. One of the 3 V's in the tower, I heard that he was a very serious person when it comes to business. But he is also very sweet to the people he wants. He got Velvette to look at me for her modeling gigs. But regardless I took this position and started to pack my bags, I didn't want to stay in hiding just because of what my parents did. A few days after, I went to the train station to get a one way ticket to the pride ring.

Story:

I got off the train with a sense of relief but also a sense of fear. A fear that you picked to wrong choice, that I should have stayed in Greed. But I cant look back, right now this is for me. I took a deep breath and past through the gates of the Pride ring. I got scanned in and made my way to the load off for my luggage. my phone starts ringing and its mom, she just want to make sure that I made it safely.

After I grabbed my things, I went off to my assigned apartment that Velvette got me. Its pretty close to the V's so I don't need to make a massive commute. after I got settled in, I heard a knock on the door. Its Velvette.

" Hey Y/N! Look I know you just got here but you neeeed to come with me. I have a show to get done and one of my models got torn to pieces; And my replacement just went MIA!"

" Oh ummm ok......I just need to..."

"Not now Y/N! Get your feathered ass in here now!"

I didn't want to disappoint her, let alone piss her off. So I scrambled to find my sweater and ran out of the apartment. Thank christ on a stick that I made it cuz everything is chaos.

" Damn this is a hot mess.."

People are throwing clothes on racks and tables, Models are getting into the dresses for the show, and people are arriving. it was a mess. but along the mess you spot a familiar looking person in the crowd.

"Is that Vox?"

Velvette responded, " Yeah, That flat faced prince comes to my shows sometimes. But he only does just to bitch about his time being wasted. He is a tool."

" There has to be a reason as to why he is here."

V: " I dont know, but there is a show thats needs to happen. So hurry up!!"

I got to my station put on the first dress that is due to go out. Even though I am the 4th person out, I still felt nervous. I have never modeled before. ( i should have said that before i got here, but thems the brakes). But most of the nerves isn't just from not modeling before, it also cuz of Vox. I've heard that he is one of the most curt but charming out of all the Vs.

Then lights dimmed and the music started playing, models started coming out one by one with V's designs. Even though V claimed that he didnt want to be here, he is paying attention. Almost as if he is looking for someone. Before I could process, I had to walk.

I walked out in a solid red dress with a sweetheart neck line, with black mesh cut outs on the sides. Its cute but not something I normally wear. I took a glimpse of the sides as I was walking down, camera flashes with whispers of complements.

"She is really pretty...maybe i could sign her on."

" If that dress was on anyone else, it would not sell"

" I cant take pictures with all these flashes :| "

The my eye came across the flat prince's face and ........he froze. His eyes followed me as if he never seen a woman before. I got to the end, turned around and went back stage.

V: " That was pretty good. since this is your first show I'm not gonna let you do multiple rows until your 3rd show. Got that?"

I shook my head yes and got ready to head upstairs to meet the rest of the Vs.

2 1/2 hours later;

I went upstairs with Velvette with a few dresses in my hand. Neither of us said anything throughout the elevator ride, it was more like a comfortable silence. We got up to the penthouse of the tower were Val and Vox were waiting.

Val; " AH yes. you must be Y/N? Correct?"

"Yes hello. Its an honor to be in your presence."

Val; " I like her....she knows her place here...."

'Nah I just don't want a moth man to be mad and blowing smoke up my ass...'

" Hello, Its and hon...."

"You dont have to say that to me. Just call me Vox."

" oh ok."

" I saw you in the show earlier today. You did pretty well. And you were very pretty."

" Thank you..."

There was a moment of silence for a little bit. Every time I try looking at Vox, he would quickly look away. Almost as if he was avoiding something.

"All right, you go back downstairs and pick up the rest of the makeup. I'll get Moth boi and Flat prince to get some more show times."

I shook my head and did as I was told. I cleaned up the aftereffects of the show and put up the designs that were not used. It took a while, but it was finally done. I went back upstairs to see if Velvette had anything else but I bummed into Vox instead.

" Oh hi, I didn't mean to stop you like this."

" No no it's my fault I was paying attention. I am assuming you are looking for Velvette."

" Yes. I dont know if she had anything else...."

" Well she is busy rn so I'll take you to complete a few projects."

I got a little excited, ME?! with Vox?!?! How? And am I technically Velvette's model?! Who cares! I am with this charming man for a few hours.....THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!!!!!

" This is my office, I want you to file these patents for me. Once that's done i'll be at my desk to give you anything else."

" oh ok..."

" great my idea of fun does not have filing cabinets in it...." *

Disappointed, I got to work with these stupid patents. After a while, it became more peaceful and I got into a nice flow. Fast forward 4 hours, I was almost done I just needed the last 2 packets. I went over to Voxs' desk to see him face down moaning to himself. with no time to think, i turned him over to see if he is ok.......He was fine he was just slightly drunk.

"for a grown man he sure is a lightweight..." *

" Sir are you ok? how long have you been at your desk like this?"

" Hi...I thought you weeerreeee gone for tthee......*hiccup*...day"

" No I still have about 2 more to do"

" You can doo..that laterrr....for now...i want to cuddle....."

Did he just say cuddle?!

" Im ok with that, as long as you are not putting people and yourself in danger."

"ok"

He smiled at me, like the genuine smile you give when you haven't seen someone in a long time. I took his hand and pulled him to the couch, as we sat down he topled over into my lap. A little superised, i just stroked his back. This last for a little bit until he sat and asked me something....

" Can I kiss you? I have been waiting to ask that since you got here."

I blushed, Even though he was drunk he still was nice to me. I love what he does and how he conducts himself too. But the biggest deal for me was that I felt safe. I don't feel creeped out like with Val, nor feel stressed out like with Velvette. I was chaotic, hot, and nervous.

" yes you can"

Vox reached out his hand to stroke my face, he leaned in and kissed me. He moved his hand from my cheek to the back of my head. I leaned into the kiss a little bit more, putting my hands on his chest. He breathed heavily in my ear as we leaned in closer. I pushed his boetie off of his neck along with his white shirt.

" I don't think the couch is the best place for this.."

Vox took my hand and lead me to his bed across the way. He sat me down and kissed my neck all over. I let out a small moan as he continued. He wrapped his arms around me holding me, as if he doesn't want to let go. I slowly went to take of his suit jacket, exposing his back and shoulders.

" Please contiue.....I haven't felt this way in a long time.."

My heart skipped a beat...my hands were getting a little shaky as I started to hold his face....

" Can I take off your belt?"

Vox face went all different shades of red. He shook his head yes, so I did as he wanted. At this point, his length was bursting it wanted to leave its domestic prison. I leaned a little more into him, at this point I was on top of him. Heart pounding, mind racing, breath getting more frantic. He then started to un-do the blouse I had, exposing the brown lace bra underneath. He looked up at me, and kissed me as has took of the shirt letting it fall to the floor.

" Do you want to go all the way?"

" Yes, with you, Yes"

After I gave him the ok, he rolled on top of me. taking my shirt with it. I don't know how but he did, He then slowly when down and kissed my inner thighs. I was shaking with anticapation, I want him to stick his touge inside me....to taste me. He put his hand over my lower belly and slighty pressing me down. He made his way inside, I let out a small moan as he ate, I could feel him painting my insides. he then moved to the top humming as he went. I tighen my legs around his head but he kept going, Vox hummed faster. Making sure he pumped he with his fingers. Twist and turns, I could feel myself about the come....

" PlEaSe!"

" What do you say? be a good girl..."

" Please, I want you inside me...."

Without another word, he slid his length out of its prison and put it inside me. The pain went as quickly as it came. He continued to pump himself into me. I was gripping the couch begging him to go faster. His pacing became less steading and more like his breathing, erratic.

"Fuuck.."

"I cant keep this uup...ffor too long.."

I could feel him throbbing inside, I could feel that he was close. But I wanted him to keep going. I felt my walls gripping him even harder and i know he could feel it too.

Then his pace picked up even harder and faster. In the middle of it all he ripped off my bra to get a better look at me. When it was off, he look down on me. Admiring his baby girl, he gave a small smile while saying..

"I love you....I love you so much please come with me"

" I love you too, i would love too"

He quickly bend down to held me, I wrapped my arms and legs around him. As he wrapped his arms around me, we both let out a soft moan into each other. I slowly released and sprawled out on the bed. He pulled out and fell beside me, we were still riding the high that we had for each other. I turned to look at him with a gentle smile..

" Can we do this again? I really enjoyed doing this with you.....with no Val."

Vox chuckled, " He wont now...He has his own stuff to worry about. And yes we can do this as long as we like.."

Just came fresh off of reading the new Squatizi light novel (which I LOVED) and decided to ruminate on why I loved one and hated the other so much.

I want to preface that if anyone is nasty in replies or tags about my views and opinions of PHF, I'll block you, I don't have time to fight over a non canon Fugo centric light novel. And I think it's valid to compare the 2 stories because they're both based around part 5 and in light novel format that supposedly expands upon the part. If you find my thoughts valid and insightful, cool, if you don't, move along, you're not going to convince me to change my mind sadly.

Also this isn't going to have too bad of spoilers. I'm kinda more vague when it comes to talking about the Squatizi story.

Purple Haze Feedback:

I respect that people needed more Fugo content and it was a genuinely good premise. An aftermath story of Fugo returning to Passione under Giorno and Mista? Yeah I would have loved a story about that. But if you need to warp characters' personalities and throw in a bunch of forgettable stands and their users to do it... I honestly can't bother to care.

If it was much shorter then I could tolerate it, but it wasn't, so here I am. I'll be going point by point with PHF just to organize my thoughts better for such a chaotic story.

1. It warped the pre-established characters.

Mista I think was done the most dirty with that opening scene, but to insinuate that Abbacchio and Fugo killed kids behind Bruno's back felt like absolute whiplash. Also Abbacchio is bisexual obviously, he would have slept with men too, not just women lol.

I don't like that they made Trish become a pop star. Maybe she would have been better as a model, but regardless, not so soon after part 5 when she needed her time to be normal and heal, or at least be under Giorno and Mista's protection.

The whole "Fugio" moment also felt off-putting to me and is part of the reason I don't like the ship. Look, it was absolutely no rain scene or "The only time I feel at ease", let's not try to compare it.

Fugo was okay, but he was just boring and I feel that's not good... you know, considering he's the protagonist of this story. He got better near the end, sure, but by the time I got to the end I was so tired and done with the story. A better writer would have done him and the story more justice.

2. Uninteresting supporting cast and villains

Cannolo was a fine addition, but I never understood what his stand actually did, same with all of the villains' stands. I think that's just poor writing if people walk away not understanding what just happened. I had to reread scenes and I still didn't get most of what happened. Voodoo Child was a cool stand, reminded me a bit of Moody Blues, but I didn't like Sheila as a character. And I'm sorry, who let's a 14 girl in a skimpy ass outfit be the Don of Mafia's bodyguard? Sheila's whole design was so hyper-sexualized and gave me the ick, especially if she was allegedly supposed to be indigenous coded. I've only seen speculation though so I won't go into it further.

Volpe and Manic Depression are the only villain names I remember. I couldn't even tell you the names and stands of the others or what Manic Depression even did as a stand. None of them felt like an actual threat.

3. Felt like a poorly written fanfic

The random mention of Tonio from DIU as Volpe's brother was also a whiplash "where the fuck did that come from" moment, because it was so unnecessary and felt like a cheap tie in for something that was formally published in a book. It really helped give it an average fanfic feel (and I write cheesy, overly dramatic fanfiction!). I think that was also when I was nearing my breaking point.

I once had someone try to mansplain to me that PHF was a "more realistic look of the mafia"... it is not, I promise you that lol. Mafia had rules about women and children and all other kinds of shit that Passione definitely does not abide by. Real life Mafia has so much more to it. This is camp fictional media, no one should ever take it so seriously.

In short, I just think PHF had a lot of wasted potential and would have done better with an altered story. I just can't convince myself to blindly love it, no matter how much I tried to like it.

Testimone di Gangster

I read it last night so it's still so fresh in my mind, but this is how you expand upon a story in my humble opinion. This is also probably going to be shorter just because it was a shorter and more focused story with less characters. I also don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it yet since it just came out in English.

First off, I think it was a such great idea to take two characters we knew so little about and expand upon them in a way that felt so much more natural. There's less room for warping characters when they didn't have such distinct personalities to begin with and also helps build the world up.

There was no overly complicated plot about drugs and stands and it gave more insight on how the crime world works in Jojo's version of Italy. It even had nods to other real life gangs and how Passione fit into this world with them. It even gave nods to the Cosa Nostra and a real life prosecutor (Falco) who dealt with a lot of gang business in Italy and I think that's just so cool. I love shit like that so much, I adore me some good worldbuilding in general that we didn't necessarily need, but it's just cool to see.

I'll admit, the story was bit hard to follow in the first chapter, but once I picked up that it was from Squalo's perspective, it was such an easy and fun read that didn't make me question what was going on every two paragraphs.

It really showed us how Tiziano is clever and calculating and can be such a useful stand user and teammate. It solidified why he and Squalo are partners (and most definitely in more than just crime for sure now ahaha). I also just love the idea of him being an attorney, especially with Talking Head as a stand, it was a fantastic concept.

The entire time I was just so entertained and caught up in the story, it was so much more engaging than I thought it was going to be. I was genuinely invested in the trial and how Tiziano was going to win the case for Passione. I'm almost sad that this story was so much shorter and would have loved more in between moments with Squalo and Tiziano, but maybe it was for the best not to drag things out.

The ending was a great nod back to their involvement in part 5 and this was in general a great insight into who they were before joining Diavolo's special guard. Plus it makes so much more sense and is amusing to know that he had a lawyer (Tiziano) apart of his elite team.

Now look, I don't think I necessarily have a bias because I do like Fugo just as much as I like Squalo and Tiziano. I also normally don't care for light novels when comes to anime/manga so I don't think it could be that either.

Maybe it was simply the Fugo/Fugio lovers had over-hyped and demanded that everyone read PHF that it just soured the novel before I even read it? I couldn't say for sure. All I know is I went into PHF was no expectations and was so dissatisfied where as I went into Testimone di Gangster with some expectations and was thoroughly entertained.

This is by no means a dig at Fugio shippers, like I said, PHF's ending and the hype around it made me personally more uncomfortable with the ship than I already was before reading it. Simple as that.

If I were to recommend additional Jojo content, especially for the part 5 lovers, Testimone di Gangster is the one I would urge people to read if they have an hour or two to spare. It's a short and sweet look at some great side characters and has more of part 5 spirit without getting caught up in a bunch of bland ocs.

at THIS point in time in the story, I'm not too sure, as every character sort of feels like they're just at a standstill right now.

I guess in terms of favorites atm, Minthe is up there. She's just got so much more depth than all the other characters, even if that depth comes at the cost of her being pushed by the narrative as the hot mess. At least her being an abusive POS is being recognized though, y'know? I'm always down for problematic characters if the narrative actually does something with them. I'm just really hoping her recent arc isn't the end of her involvement in the story, I wanna see an actual resolution to her character arc 😭

I also really like Hermes and Poseidon, just because they're such bros. Poseidon is great at playing mediator between Zeus and Hades' drama and Hermes is such a wholesome bean. I'd love to see them utilized more beyond being just comic relief sidekicks.

But honestly, now that I think about it... my favorite has to be Hephaestus. Not because he's more compelling or entertaining than Minthe or Poseidon or Hermes, he just gives me such soft & stoic older brother energy and I'm kind of a whore for that FDAJKLFDASJKL I wanna just hang out with him, y'know? ♥

In terms of least favorite, I know it's such an easy answer, but Hades and Persephone, not even because of all the problematic stuff! (altho that def doesn't help LOL) Their worst crime is literally just being boring-

S1 Hades and Persephone were great because we got to see them each on their own and sidestepping around their attraction to one another, S2 onwards though has really been watering them down to being just "playing house" romance fluff and it's a real shame. Their story basically ended before it even began so now everything since S3 started just feels so dragged out and pointless. We've gotten too much external conflict "keeping them apart" and not enough internal conflict in their actual differences. Like, where's the bickering? The disagreements? I know those things shouldn't be normalized as being part of a "healthy relationship" but this is a romance story dammit! There's a reason drama and romance stories are full of toxic people and blatant misunderstandings, because it's entertaining! There's nothing relatable or interesting about a couple who's completely functional with zero work required and does the same cute shit every day. Give us the spice! Give us the character development!

(I'm also REALLY starting to hate Daphne, she's toxic af with how she treats Thanatos and their relationship feels like a copy of H x P but reversed... but that's another topic that I'm gonna get into in a future essay post!)

ETA: I'm re-reading your question and realizing I may have misunderstood, I know the writing is a part of character design as well but were you wondering more about my favorite art design? :0 So if that was the case, my least favorite is probably the nymphs, there's literally so much uncovered territory and so many of them are Persephone clones. Literally the only way to tell their 'origin' apart is color and sometimes elements like water hair but again, it's rarely utilized (the most we see of it is with Minthe's body turning to mud when she's angry). It just feels so boring and lazy, give us leaf hair or tree bark skin, something to indicate that they're not just spray-painted people with cosplay elf ears!

Hebe also falls under this category for me, she's pretty much an exact copy of Hera and that's pretty depressing to see. Why don't we ever seem to get any interesting color mixing between the Gods and their children? Even Hades dream kids were all blue, why not purple? Why are both Artemis and Apollo purple, why not any hints of gold in there?

As for my favorite, Amphitrite! (when she's actually drawn properly!) She's got such a unique design, she actually LOOKS LIKE A WATER NYMPH, and she absolutely radiates queen energy. S1 Hades was also pretty great. And ofc again Hephaestus because ✨swoon✨

So, I love your art and the After One outfits are all very cool but I am curious about one thing.

Blake & Weiss's color schemes being dominated by black & white respectively showed that their abusers still had strong influence on them.

This is also why Weiss has red inalid to her jacket and Blake purple climbing up her legs, to show defiant colors more tied to their own legacies or color schemes.

Which is also why their color schemes have evolved the most out of the cast as they escaped their abusers and their influence and grew beyond the damage done to them.

With that in mind, does Blake & Weiss having black and white dominating their color schemes suggested they have not yet escaped their abusers influence as much or is it more down to personal taste/aesthetics?

Hi, feeling glad to receive the asking.

About the color of Weiss and Blake. The white and black is their main symbolic color. I feel it still is even in the canon story now. This two color give them contrast and conflicting for their characters background story. They resolved the issue between them in the canon now, and it becomes very important and special part in their personal life so I always feel white and black are their absolute symbolic color.

I keep this thinking in AO first outfit designs, but it still can have changed sometimes, just likes their Vacuo version outfit.

I feel blue and purple are their secondary color. Because in some theories, white and black isn't the color. Whole white and black not necessarily good-looking at sometime.

The choice of outfits color is more rely on my personal aesthetics. They also don't escape their abusers influences at that time in this story, but this isn't the main reason.

"Waiter, my spaghetti is cold!" Game Design breakdown and BTS!

Hello, dear reader! Welcome to the nonsensical ramblings of an excited vn dev.

Here, I'll be pretending to know what I'm talking about; trying to break down the design process of my vn game, and how I went about creating my O2A2 Jam assets.

1) Starting a game is tough :

While the thought of creating a game excited me, the thought of writing, programming or creating multiple expressions for a sprite sounded tedious.

Getting over the dread of starting was possibly the most challenging thing I had to overcome, but once O2A2 popped up I thought, "Ten days and less than a thousand words? That sounds simple enough."

So I sat down and, without much thought, started doodling different waiters. Why were they waiters? No specific reason, really. O2A2 being a short jam meant I didn't have to stress about the story too much- I was aiming to have fun while experimenting, which the jam encouraged.

While doodling, a quote surfaced: "He isn't picking up the phone. Even worse, your pasta is cold! Unacceptable!". It sounded fun, even though I wasn't sure what to do with it.

But the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to form a concept surrounding this quote, and to bring it to life.

2) The chicken or the egg? :

So- which came first, the genre or the background?

Typically, picking out a genre makes it easier to decide on your game assets and story, but I had a revelation midway that changed everything.

The quote I had gave me rom-com vibes, so I was thinking about ways to achieve that. Would the MC initiate the talk? Would the love interest be cocky? Would it just end up with the MC accidentally choking on a ring that was hidden in the spaghetti by the love interest because both parties have difficulty in expressing their feelings outright?

Worried about the time limit (for absolutely no reason, I still had 9 days left) I decided on the rom-com genre for the time being.

Set on a theme for my background, I pulled up some references I took IRL and got to forming the diner one chair at a time. After I was satisfied with the model, I started editing it and drew in small details that gave the background 'life', such as a board and some blinds (as seen in the in-game menu illustration- consistency is key!).

Then I was messing around with the hues when...

oh...

I really liked the purple-hued night edit.

It didn't really 'give' rom-com, but it looked really cool when compared to the morning edit. It just felt right, so I had finally decided on the genre based on the background: this game was going to take a romance/drama/mystery-ish path.

3) Just who, exactly, is Sean? :

Good question, me-that's-pretending-to-be-the-reader-that-asks-a-specific-question.

Even after having a doodle I wanted to base Sean off of, I had no idea what his personality was like; as in, who he really was. Creating a character that people could connect to or have the faintest interest in made me pause for a moment and ponder.

What makes a mysterious-and-lovable character? How mysterious is too mysterious to the point the player has difficulty in connecting with the character / it acts as an annoyance? How do I naturally reveal certain aspects without overwhelming the player or seeming too on-the-nose? What should I prioritise in mentioning within the 1000-word limit?

Honestly, planning this beforehand would have been the smart thing to do, and would have saved me a lot of time. But when throwing questions around wasn't getting me anywhere, I decided to finally sit down and just write the damn script.

I kept writing, hoping to reach somewhere, while trying not to overwhelm the player with too much info and stay under the 1000 word limit. When I got to something that resembled an ending I could work with (Ending A in-game), I looked through the script and realised, oh!

"So that's Sean."

It's like he blossomed out of the dialogue and flicked my forehead for forgetting to outline the story, in order to understand the characters and their motivations, like the dumb-ass I sometimes am.

We live and learn, folks.

So here's the gist of it: After figuring out he was the right-hand-man of Oscar (the supposed antagonist that relied on Sean to get people to talk through intimidation / usually front-and-centre of their operations / mostly 'on the field' .etc) his design came more naturally. Finally having a script also helped in figuring out his expressions / reactions, so that worked out as well.

It was also fun playing around with shapes in his character design. While squares can be found in his form such as his physique and apron (typically represents someone strong, reliable) he also had triangles sprinkled in his hair (typically represents something sharp, someone 'menacing' and unpredictable). The rules, of course, are general and can be bent; and the shapes can be mixed to convey different things, but that's a ramble for another time.
