It has been a while since I made any rant about MHA. So here I go:
1) The mutant plotline is dumb. Fantasy racism is something hard to master, most of the time the whole "the unicorns are being oppressed by the gnomes oh is just like what happened to a real life minority" can be hollow or offensive at worst.
Why I think this plotline doesn't work? Because it has no built up. I know some stans speak about "the racism" and we have seen glimpse here and there but it was nothing concrete and certainly not something to explore by the end of the manga and by characters we hardly known
Shoji and Spinner have little screen time and were put on the side in favour of...you guessed BK.
Look, we don't even know how quirkless are treated and the MC is quirkless but if Hori had show Izu anger and saying how he was abused....it would put BK in a bed light...we can't have that.
But also, even if someone says "actually, in the ova we see character X face discrimination" I want to say this: Hori is making the mutants destroy a hospital....they aren'y the good guys and Spinner is nothing more than a nomu now.
Spinner and his mutants are the bad guys.
Shoji is the good guy here and frankly ...he and Izu should have interacted more.
2) AFO is a joke. Believe in DFO as much you want but AFO is only such "scary" villain bc of his quirk. Redestro is a better villain but Hori ruined that.
3) Shig having his body taken by AFO is so stupid. I know it has foreshadow but just bc smth is foreshadow doesn't mean is good. We are just seeing Shig losing more and more of himself until he is nothing.
I had an idea that if MHA was written by a competent writer the whole concept of deku would be used on Shig. Izu would be the one free of the name, free of BK and his abuse...while Shig would be on AFO suffering...
Shig, in this version, would show humanity still, like he wouldn't be "destruction for all" and hey...having Izu and Shig interact as they realize they have smth in common.
And boom
Izu: do you need to help?
Shig: yes
3) LoV is not found family and Dabi gives 0 shits about them. I like that about Dabi. As someone who is tired of Tododrama...this aspect of him is interesting, Dabi is a villain. The same for each LoV member. They are all villains who participated gladly in a war and lilled thousands without remorse.
4) I hope BK stays dead.

Note
Talk about how BK stans are wierd about Izu. But lets talk how Izu's abuse was deliberate on Hori's part (again, this is not "random guy pressing many buttoms" he sit down and wrote this shit) and how people, mostly BK's stans ignore in favor of fanon bkdk
Izu's dad is mia (In Japan some families use actors to pretend to be the kid dad's. Like wow ) and we dont even know his job.
Inko is a beglectful mom, thanks to how Hori wrote her. (For those reading, neglectful doesnt need to always be "she ignored how her kid is starving" Inko never bother to know her own son or do anything)
Why Izu accepts he is useless? Not victim blaming here but....this is smth I don't get why Izu nods and accept he is useless. "A lesson in hopeless" which could explain but...that would have to apply to others students who were abused by BK. And they seem fine.
(Also the lil shit Izu saved from Bk and turns against Izu later...why? I get kids can be assholes! But while the lil shit doesnt need to be Izu's bff...why try to please BK?)
Hi @mikeellee 👋
Both Bakugou stans and Hori (to a lesser extent) are horrible when it comes to Izuku, they both seem to treat Izuku as the cheerleader / supporting act to Bakugou.
Bakugou's /BkDk stans (mostly) tend to write what they wish to see - an asshole with a heart of gold who redeems himself and proves himself worthy of being Izuku's partner. While seemingly unknowingly writing him as abusive - screaming at his partner, still calling him a "Shitty Deku" but fondly or doing worse like causing Izuku to try and kill himself or dumping Izuku via text while Izuku is in hospital...
All the while Hori neglects Izuku and his family sidelining him for the Todoroki's (no hate to the Todofam) but...
Where's Midoriya Hisashi? If he's AFO you would think Hori would build up to this moment / give Izu deja vu when he sees AFO - anything? Or is Hisashi a random asshole civilian who upped and left his family or tragically died?
Why does Midoriya Inko act so neglectful yet worried? How Hori writes Inko is pretty poor honestly. In canon, she's not an evil, mean mum nor is she supermum like I've seen the most common fandom perceptions be - She's just there. A true background character. She's just stood there not doing anything while her quirkless son gets violently beaten up for ten years and does nothing. (She had to have had some idea what was going on, no four year old could hide being exploded.) Yet U.A post Kamino she threatens to pull Izu out - now Izu has a quirk, why this change in attitude now Izu has a quirk? Hori never shows her actively doing things for Izuku like a mother should; she cries and worries but thats all she does - while Izuku comforts her! At least other shonen parents have the excuse of being dead so therefore being unable to protect their kids...
Izuku seemingly accepting himself as useless... It began with the acceptance of the hero name 'Deku' to me it felt like someone, who had been bullied for their disability, making their hero name "Spaz" just because a new friend at UA called them once that - 'but in a nice way.' So that "makes it ok now!" When really it doesn't - certainly not like how MHA showed, in real life moments like reclaiming the insult (especially with a history attached like Izuku's does) has to take a lot of work. It felt like whiplash to have Izuku suddenly "be ok with it." And honestly... I don't think he is truly, he still thinks of himself as useless and thats reinforced by 1) everyone around him calling him "Deku" still - including Bakugou. Izuku's internal monologue even supports that he still thinks of himself as useless which is just SAD at this point. 2) Izuku rarely (if ever) getting any rightful praise. 3) Izuku getting shared blame for shit that is Bakugou's fault alone. House arrest should have been just Bakugou's punishment and Izu should have kicked his ass to the moon.
And for your final point, that is true that kid is a little asshole and you would think that in a school where most people are aspiring to be heroes there would be some (other than Izu) trying to stand up for people being bullied against Bakugou...
But at the same time it's realistic for a class to be afraid of the violent loud mouth bully who is strong and unafraid to throw a punch. Imagine that but throwing explosions, burns and explosive punches - yikes.
Either way, Bakugou's popularity should have tanked with his 'garbage personality' when he got into U.A but Hori wants to wank him off.

The world decided I wasn’t good enough in the physical plane, so I went digital. That’s why I chose the name Binary. And you should be very,” He smirks at the underground hero on the screen, “Very afraid of the reach I have here. Aizawa Shouta.”

Himiko bounces on the balls of her feet, makeshift gym clothes shifting seamlessly on her body. She’s nervous. So nervous. But she can do this! Her brothers all think she’ll be a great hero and she wants to prove them right! She’s going to prove them right and the horrible people who she referred to as her ‘parents’ wrong! She can’t help the nerves though. She knows what to expect, Izuku walked her through it dozens if not hundreds of times. She basically had a walking cheat sheet for the practical exam and was handed an extra tool to complete it too. Yet old words from past school mates and her bio family keep swimming through her brain. Weirdo. Monster. Freak. Vampire. She can’t help but think that’s all she was supposed to be. That she wasn’t destined for greatness like Izuku, Hitoshi, and Dabi think she is. She’s just supposed to be the one obsessed with blood with a creepy personality. Cold ice crawls up her spine at the thoughts.
“No!” She mutters to herself, shaking her head, “Get out of my head, bad thoughts! Go away! I don’t want you here! My brothers say I’m great! I am great! I’m going to do great!”
“I think you’ll do great,” She startles at a voice next to her. She turns around quickly to find another female applicant standing next to her. She smiles at her gently, “I’m Kendo Itsuka! I saw you in the written exam. I think you’re pretty great already, standing up for the kid who was muttering. He really wasn’t bothering anyone and that other guy had no right to talk to him that way!”
Himiko blinks before smiling a bit, careful to keep her fangs out of sight just in case, “Yeah I thought so too. I’m pretty used to Izuku’s mumbling and I can say for certain that it’s not bothersome in any way! You can learn a lot of stuff if you listen to his rambling. I’m Toga Himiko.”
“You said you’re used to his mumbling?” Kendo’s head tilts in question, “Do you know him outside of here?”
“Yeah, he’s my adoptive brother. Hitoshi, the guy on Izuku’s other side who helped me defend him? He’s our adoptive brother too!”
“Ooooh! So you’re used to hearing it at home!” Kendo says as Himiko nods with a happy hum. She then starts telling the red headed girl all the gossip she’s heard her brother mumbling about. It’s one of her favorite things to listen to and hopes the other girl agrees. Based on her various gasps and giggles, she does. It makes Himiko grin happily, forgetting for a moment that she should probably be hiding her fangs. She notices Kendo’s eyes briefly glancing at them in shock before she simply shakes her head and returns to listening raptly with a small smile. “Another one like Izu and Toshi. A different breed of people compared to the ones I dealt with before,” Himiko thinks to herself.
Soon, the voice of the hero Present Mic interrupts her retelling of Izuku’s theory about the possible romantic chemistry budding between the one of the newer heroines in the scene, Mount Lady, and arbor hero, Kamui woods. She turns to the door and shakes out her hands to prepare herself. She reminds herself of Izuku’s first piece of advice when he had sat her down about the practical.
“I don’t think they do countdowns,” He had said, “I haven’t completely confirmed it based on what I’ve found but I’m pretty sure they don’t. I haven’t told Toshi yet but I just wanted to tell you now just in case. Be ready to run right away.”
Himiko wonders if he predicted they wouldn’t be in the same group. Knowing Izuku, he probably did. He should be considered a certified genius but Himiko knows if he tried to voice it he’d be shut down swiftly just for being quirkless. It still astounds her sometimes how badly society treats him. She shakes her head and pats her cheeks. “Head in the game, Himiko,” She tells herself firmly, “Get ready to run.”
She turns a quick smile to Kendo, “Good luck!”
“You too!” The red haired girl replies.
She smiles a bit wider at her before her face sets into a determined expression. The door starts to slowly open. Go time. She takes off before the door can even fully finish opening, sliding underneath it into the arena.
“What the-?!” Present Mic’s shout reverberates throughout the arena, “What is with the kids in these groups knowing there isn’t a countdown in this part of the exam!? Ugh! Ruining my whole vibe, yo! Whatever! Blah, blah, real life, no countdowns, get a move on! Go, go, go!”
Himiko smirks. Izuku was right after all. Plus, Present Mic’s frustration was kind of hilarious! She guesses this has already happened once today to the blonde hero with Izuku and Hitoshi’s group; Probably from just Izuku and Hitoshi. A robot crashed down next to her, reminding her of her goal. Right, focus. Exam. Gathering villain points by defeating the robots and rescue points for helping people. Get into UA’s hero course and make her family - her real family - proud. She’s got this.
She acrobats her way over the robot’s attacks before pulling her taser out and shocking it. It shuts down quickly at the electricity coursing through it. She smirks. She reiterates to herself that her little brother is a bonafide genius. She takes down two others (she doesn’t remember what points they were worth, to be honest) before realizing she’s not covering enough ground for her tastes. She pulls the vial of Hitoshi’s blood out of her pocket.
“Longer legs, here I come!” With that thought, she downs the blood. She feels transform sliding over her in a way that was only familiar to her. A quick glance to a window of one of the false buildings reveals the tired face of her purple brother. She grins at the reflection. This should do. The practical exam continues but for Himiko it’s all a blur of instinct and intuition. Fighting robots and helping people. It fills her with a strange sort of emotion; One full of fulfillment and adrenaline. She’s never felt like this before. It’s… exhilarating! In an odd sort of way. If this is what being a hero is like all the time, she really is aiming for the right schooling path. She’s glad she listened to Izuku now.
By the time she comes back to herself to at least process her surroundings, it comes with Present Mic’s announcement that the zero pointers have been released. She knows from her and Izuku’s countless conversations about the practical that it’s the best time to lay low and maybe get a few more rescue points if it’s safe enough before the end of the exam. She takes off into a nearby alleyway to get some ground away from the release points. She then leans against the wall and grabs the collar of the two shirts she was wearing thanks to her quirk. She fans herself with it a bit while panting. Ugh! She’s sweating so much! It’s so hot when she can’t lose her own clothes beforehand! She really needs to find a better way to not end up wearing two sets of clothes when she uses her quirk without the fear of having to strip down every time. Maybe Izuku would have some ideas? He probably already has it all thought up for her hero costume. She’ll ask him when they get home this evening.
When she catches her breath, she peeks around the corner of the alleyway to see Kendo fighting off one of the… two pointers? It looks like a two pointer from the back anyway. She seemed to be handling it well enough on her own so Himiko didn’t feel like she needed to step in to help or anything. Until she noticed the zero pointer behind Kendo. The other girl hadn’t noticed it but Himiko kept waiting to see if she would.
She didn’t.
Himiko’s eyes widened as it got right up to the other girl. Without thinking, she raced out and tackled Kendo out of the way into a different alleyway that was a bit too small for the robots to fit in. They rolled to a stop before Himiko helped Kendo up. “Be careful, Kendo-chan,” she told her, “I really don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Huh? Do… Do I know you?” Kendo asked her with wary eyes. Himiko’s confused until she realizes that she’s still using her quirk.
She squeaks and quickly drops it, the gray slime dropping off her body, “I’m sorry! I forgot I still looked like Toshi-nii…”
“Oh! Toga-chan! Is that your quirk?!” When Himiko confirms her question, she beams, “That’s amazing! Can you imagine how many covert missions you could complete with it?!”
“You might be shocked to hear that that’s exactly what Izuku said to me when we first met,” She replies shyly while rubbing the back of her neck.
They both look up curiously as Present Mic’s voice rings through the arena again, “That’s it, Listeners! Time is up! The test is over! Please exit the arena as soon as you're able! Recovery Girl is on sight for any who need medical attention!”
Both shrug to each other before moving to head out of the arena as requested. Himiko asks her how she thinks she did. “I dunno,” the red head replies with another shrug, “Okay I guess. I wasn’t really paying attention to how many points I got to be honest.”
“Yeah me neither,” she admits.
“Is there a certain class you’re hoping to get into? Either A or B?”
“Well my brothers are really hoping to get into A because of the teacher and I was thinking of following them to A but Izuku’s really hoping I get into B since the teacher is Vlad King. He thinks that he’ll be able to help me hone my skills better than the 1-A teacher, since I have a blood quirk like him.”
“Yeah that makes sense. I don’t really care what class I get into. I just want to get in and be a hero. Help some people. You know?” Himiko hums in agreement with her. She understands that too. They continue chatting as they exit the arena and get changed back into their regular clothes, luckily not needing to see Recovery Girl for any injuries to themselves. Then they head out into the hallway towards the entrance of the school.
“Himi-nee!”  Izuku’s voice calls. Himiko turns to smile at her two approaching brothers. Hitoshi rolls his neck around on his shoulders, telling her, “Good you’re done. Now we can go home, right? I want some coffee…”
“Yeah, yeah Toshi-nii! We can go home now! You’re so silly!” Himiko giggles, “Besides we have to tell Dabi-nii how we did!”
Kendo tells her a quick goodbye while Himiko turns to her to return the sentiment with a smile. After that, the two groups part ways. Once outside of the school, Izuku asks her, “Did you make a friend?”
“Yeah I think I did!” Himiko’s eyes are probably filled with stars as she smiles happily, “Her name is Kendo Itsuka! She’s super nice!”
“That’s great! I’m so happy for you, Himi-nee!” Izuku tells her happily. Himiko giggles and thanks him with her hands pressed happily to her cheeks.
“Huzzah the power of friendship and all that but onto the good stuff; How’d you do?” Hitoshi cuts to the chase and asks.
She shrugs to him, “I don’t know. I wasn’t keeping track to be honest.”
A rolling meow sounded from Izuku’s phone and he pulled it out swiftly. CATRA was waiting on the screen, feline mouth turned up in a sly grin, “Himiko-chan scored thirty-eight villain points. Again, rescue points are decided until later.”
Himiko blinks before cautiously asking, “So… does that mean…?”
“Yes. You passed!” The blonde girl gasps before shrieking with joy. She passed! She really passed! She jumps up and down slightly in her excitement. She then remembers to ask about the other’s scores.
“I got forty-one villain points,” Hitoshi tells her before turning an exasperated glare on their youngest brother, “But this one went all out and got the top score of seventy-nine.”
“What?! Seventy-nine?!” She shrieks in shock.
Izuku is smug in his response, “Yep!”
“He beat out Bakugou’s score by two points!” CATRA laughs.
Himiko and Hitoshi’s shoulders both rise up at that. “That… could be a problem,” Hitoshi says slowly. Himiko agrees with a nod. She’s only ‘met’ Bakugou once but she doesn’t think that he’ll be very pleased to know that his former bullying victim beat him for top school of the entrance exam. Izuku waves them off. “It’ll be fine,” he tells them, “I did it intentionally. I wanted him to know how it felt to have something he’s worked so hard for taken away from him simply because he. Wasn’t. Good. Enough.”
Himiko shudders a bit at the sound of his voice. She forgets sometimes that if Izuku wasn’t going for being a hero that he’d make a truly terrifying villain. She’s glad he’s going to be a hero and that she’s going to be a hero right next to him. Izuku’s voice returns to his normal calm and happy tenor while he smiles at them, “Anyway! Let’s get home to all tell Dabi-nii the good news about how proud we’ve made him!”
Himiko cheers again as she and Izuku take off in a jog towards home. Hitoshi trails behind them at a more leisurely pace, just happy to be heading home with them for the day.

Mineta of BNHA
You know, one of the things that bother me with the BNHA-fandom is how they treat Mineta.
Not in the sense of “sexual harassment is fine actually, stop being annoying” but more in the sense that they think that what Mineta does is (despite seemingly considered to be pretty normal behavior by canon) completely unforgivable.
This is a fourteen-year-old, raised in a culture of “sex sells”, and where “no” is assumed to mean “try harder next time”.
And this fourteen-year-old is supposed to just know how to behave around pretty girls?
Like, you shove a scantly-clad butt in his face and expect him not to touch it? Do you think his impulse-control is that well-developed? Or are you saying that you would also condemn a rather famous scene from Captain America, where an actress just couldn't help themselves and reached out to touch the muscles of a very attractive man? Is that not the same kind of sexual harassment?
“Oh, but he keeps talking about how sexy the girls are.”
So are you. You tell friends and classmates that you want the sexy lady to step on you. What makes you so inherently better than Mineta?
You're giving Bakugou a redemption-arc for being a bully, for suicide-baiting someone, for his rage-issues, for his arrogance, all because society “did him wrong” when it raised him up like an untouchable idol of “heroic-ness” simply because of his birth-right. But you can't step out of your comfort-zone for long enough to realize that Mineta is just as much a product of the society they live in?
By all means, call the guy out for making the girls feel uncomfortable, or for not putting his focus on “being a good hero”. But don't think for a moment that Mineta doesn't know that he isn't being heroic.
Mineta admires Izuku.
(Ignoring the jokes about his “canon sexuality”, or about how his intense focus on pretty girls could be seen as a blatant attempt to convince himself that he isn't in a closet, his admiration for Izuku is very real.)
Mineta looks at Izuku and thinks “this is the kind of hero I wish that I could become”.
Izuku, self-sacrificial and brave, clever and loyal, and always reliable. That is the kind of person that Mineta wishes that he could become.
So why hasn't he become that? Because he doesn't know where to start. Because there isn't a clearly-lit path pointing the way. All he has is the knowledge that “right now, he can't compare”. How hard is it to take that first step to try to “become better” without someone giving you a push?
Izuku needed one, with All-Might himself promising to guide him on his path, long before he ever tried to actually train for a path towards heroics.
(And no, scribbling in his hobby-notebooks isn't training, no matter what he wishfully might've named them. Otherwise, introverts thinking up “amazing conversations” in their heads would already classify as “having lots of friends”.)
So, starting Mineta on his path away from “comic relief / sexual harasser” isn't easy. He'd have to unlearn a lot of things he would've internalized. He'd have to have a clear support-structure showing him that this is a path towards a “self” that he could be proud of. And he'd have to do it all with the understanding that that is what matters in the end. That rather than his original childish goal of being “attractive to girls” he could be happy with just himself.
And, depending on how early you try to implement that “redemption-arc” he'd fight you the whole way there. Because he likes pretty girls, and he wouldn't want to give them up just to focus on himself. Society would've told him that that's a loss, a failure on his part, rather than a true path to a happier life.
So you'd need to beat it into his head that the society that told him these things is wrong, that denying himself the right to his own personal happiness, just because that's not something that he can brag about is messed up.
But the fandom took one look at Mineta, ugly, short, childish, perverted. And said that he doesn't deserve a chance to better himself.
And I feel like that's kind of shitty.

SCENARIO REQUEST: ❝ignorance.❞
Tumblr media
[ Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia ] [ Characters: Bakugou Katsuki ]
「Scenario where the reader is close to Bakugou, but someday she heard him speaking with his friends that she's annoying and stuff. Then from that day, she grew apart from him and she's extremely polite with him, Meanwhile she grows really close with Midoriya, then Bakugou realizes how stupid he was.」
BAKUGOU KATSUKI
Honestly, you don't really understand why Bakugou doesn't push you away when you're being clingy with him. You're not his girlfriend or anything but you'd like to say that you're actually close friends. Before moving into the dorms, you both lived in the same neighbourhood and would often go to and from school together. You've heard from Midoriya how Bakugou used to be in high school and honestly, it didn't bother you that much because he was striving to become a hero just like everyone else. Despite the way he treats everyone, he's a hard worker who aims to be number one. There were a lot of people who assumed that you're his girlfriend but with a glare from Bakugou, they instantly shut up.
Bakugou doesn't seem like the person to spill your secrets, you're always comfortable with telling him your personal problems. He never gives you any advice but having someone listen to your problems was enough for you. You'd like to think that Bakugou actually sees you as an equal but he never voices it out so you live in your own delusional state of mind, convinced that the ash blonde thought of you as a friend just like how you see him as your most trusted and closest friend. When you overheard Bakugou telling some of your classmates that you were annoying, you felt your heart drop. Though you shouldn't feel that way because you should expect him to think so.
"She's just annoying and clingy."
Even so, his words hurt more than you thought. Bakugou didn't seem to care if you had heard him or not because when you looked at him, his eyes were hard. There was clear irritation in them. You'd been living in your own delusional fantasies for several months and now here he was, being brutally honest with his feelings. It was clear that he never thought you were his friend. You were just an annoying girl who stuck to him like a glue as if you're his best buddy. The boys, which consisted of Kaminari, Sero and Kirishima, felt guilty for coaxing Bakugou's real feelings towards you.
"You didn't have to say it like that, man." Kirishima said with a frown, glancing between you and Bakugou.
"I-It's fine, Kirishima! He's just being honest." you smiled, despite yourself.
Things changed. Everyone noticed that you were distancing yourself from Bakugou, it was noticeable. So noticeable that a child could notice. You didn't want to give up on your friendship but then again, what are you giving up when it didn't even exist in the first place. In the beginning, you both still walked home together but you were keeping your distance, walking behind him. A small part, scratch that — a large part of you want him to at least acknowledge you as his friend. Then again, friendships don't always work out and friends don't always stay together. You thought about it a lot, fighting the burn in your eyes whenever you thought about Baukgou.
Late at night, you would wonder what you should've done back then. You convinced yourself that you will deal with this. give Bakugou the space he needed and talk about it. However, school and training took up most of your time. The two of you never interacted with one another again. Seeing that Bakugou was faring well without you made you feel like the idiot for clinging onto the past. It felt like some cruel joke to be honest. The two of you grew distant but no one seemed to make a comment about it. You started to get along with other people while avoiding Bakugou as much as you can. When you moved to the dorms, you were ecstatic to be living together with your friends.
Bakugou was a smart person. He knows the weight of his words and what kind of damage was done when he admitted that you were an annoying person. He kind of expected you to brush it off and approach him again like you normally do but apparently the damage he dealt was larger than he had expected. In the beginning, he didn't really miss your presence at all. But ever since then, you never talked to him like you always did. You used to be very lively, casual and cheerful. You were one of the very few people in his life that calls him by his first name. Bakugou felt like a stranger with how polite you were talking to him.
"You dropped your notebook, Bakugou." you handed the item that you had picked up from the ground. Bakugou didn't say anything and took it from your hands, looking at his notebook before back at you. With a small smile, you excused yourself with a curt bow before joining your friends.
You were both classmates and you were treating him like you were strangers. He was aware of how you both had drifted. There were times where you would join him when he was cooking but not anymore. You should know better than anyone how harsh he can be with his words but that wasn't an excuse to believe that you would brush off his words that easily. Bakugou didn't want to admit that he had done something wrong but seeing you acting like yourself around everyone else made him realize that he had been stupid.
"[First Name], do you need help with the groceries?"
"Thank you so much, Izuku. Just put them by the counter."
Bakugou was aware of how close you've grown with Midoriya. He wasn't that pissed but it make him think of when you were still by his side. You don't often call boys with their first names and now you're on first name basis with Midoriya. It irritated him and at the same time he couldn't help but remember the times you would call him by his first name. The more he observed you, the more wanted you to be by his side again. He felt stupid. He was not a smart person at all, he's just an asshole who acted like a know-it-all and hurt people's feelings, calling it as being honest.
His hands were in his pockets when he headed to the common area to grab a drink. He immediately took note of your presence in the kitchen along with the smell of chocolate You always used to greet him with a bright smile, calling him by his first name and get in his personal bubble. But not anymore, you stood there with a cup of hot chocolate in your hands. There was a small smile on your face but it wasn't the same like the ones you used to flash him. These were ones that you put on to give him a false sense of security, to make him think that you didn't have any hard feelings.
"Bakugou? What are you doing at 12 am?"
Why won't you call him with is first name anymore?
"Nothing, just couldn't sleep." he replied.
"They say that herbal tea is excellent for calming nerves before bedtime. Anyways, I got to go. Goodnight Bakugou."
It was midnight and Bakugou was never up until this late, it was way past his bed time. You were exhausted yourself but your stomach demanded something sweet and warm at this time of day which led you to making some hot chocolate. Being alone with Bakugou was uncomfortable, especially when you remember what he said to you. You had said all that in a haste, wanting to get way from the ash blonde as fast as possible. All you could do was pray that Bakugou would just let you go with your mug of hot chocolate and leave you alone. You didn't even want to think about what the guy might do.
"Since when did you decide to call me by my last time?" he caught your attention which caused you to stop walking. You shifted uncomfortably. Was he serious? He should know why you decide to call him by his last name.
"Don't you remember what you said to me last time?" you blinked at him.
"You called me annoying and clingy."
He knows what he said and he wants to apologize but it wasn't easy for Bakugou Katsuki to apologize.
"I was an asshole, okay? I shouldn't have called you annoying and clingy."
He hopes that saying this out loud will get you back.

My Thoughts On Chapter 257 and Why I Think The Bakudeku Dynamic Is Still Fundamentally Broken
[Spoilers and Bakugo-Bashing ahead. Long post. Avoid if you don't want to see.]
Look, I can kind of see why people enjoy the idea of Izuku and Katsuki making up and being friends again after all the crap Katsuki did. Honestly, if Horikoshi had set it up right, I might have been rooting for them, too. Of course, I don't root for it, because I don't see much improvement in the dynamic, especially on Katsuki's part.
Before I get started, remember: if you like the dynamic between Izuku and Bakugo, that's fine. This post probably isn't for you, and that's fine, too. I'm not writing this post to attack anyone personally, but if you feel offended, feel free to ignore this post and go about your day. I'd like it if we could be respectful of one another's opinions. Sound good? Good.
Now, let's begin...
So the big thing in this chapter (257 chapters, dear God...) is that we're finally learning a bit more about the OFA Holders. For starters, we now know the Black Whip user's name: Banjo Daigoro (heads up, the "Go (五)" in Daigoro means "Five," continuing the trend of OFA Holders having their wielder number in their names). We've also learned that Nana's Quirk was "Float" or "Levitation," which makes a lot of sense.
(I mean, Flight is one of the most iconic superpowers besides super strength, and since Nana is Izuku's metaphorical grandmother, it's incredible for her to be using such a by the book super power. Plus, it only compliments her friendship with Gran Torino, another hero with a flight Quirk.)
I'm rambling at this point. As intriguing as the Quirks of the previous holders is, my attention (as well as other readers' attention) was pulled towards Katsuki. Most say that the relationship between Katsuki and Izuku was adorable in this chapter. Others say Katsuki was a gremlin, but they still love him for it.
Well, pardon my pessimism, but if I'm using the phrase right, it looks like I'm gonna be playing devil's advocate.
[Keep in mind, the official translations haven't dropped yet, so this might screw up my analysis a bit.]
There's another meeting about OFA between Izuku, Toshinori, and of course Katsuki. Toshinori talks a bit about how he couldn't find everything for the previous holders, and what does Katsuki say?
If you don't know it then just leave it at that, I'm waisting my precious time on you guys.
There are a handful of other rude/passive-aggressive ways Katsuki could have phrased that. He could have made it sound like "That's nice and all, but could we skip to the important stuff?" But no, even though this information is crucial to Izuku, even though Katsuki has every right to just stay out of the room since the conversation won't benefit him, he says they're wasting his "precious time." Once again, Katsuki is being self-centered, but that isn't anything new.
A little later, Katsuki is taking a loom at the notebook, and he remarks that all the Quirks Izuku got must have been lame. Katsuki is immediately writing the Quirks off just because they aren't upfront with their badassery. Izuku appreciates all Quirks because he wasn't born with one, but Katsuki only appreciates strong Quirks because that's what society and his own self image have taught him up to this point.
Think of it this way: A man with diamonds can't understand why a man is happy with silver, but a man with nothing understands the value of both.
Katsuki's Quirk is admittedly versatile and efficient, and I can respect the work he put into it. However, immediately dissing less flashy Quirk's might be his downfall. Characters like Sir Nighteye don't have "powerful" Quirks, but are still capable adversaries thanks to how they use them in tandem with their other abilities. Foresight might not be a powerful Quirk in a fight, but Nighteye's own strategy, deceivingly ripped physique, and his high-density stamps help round him out as a capable opponent. We've seen Izuku utilize Black Whip in ways which can be definitely declared badass. Even Nana's Quirk can be used in incredible ways, especially considering Izuku's strategy and relentnesses.
Speaking of Nana's Quirk, here comes the part I hate the most...
Lots of readers talk about how Katsuki and Izuku's dynamic has grown a lot since their middle school days. That's not to say the statement isn't true, because there has been some growth, but I feel like most of it is exaggerated. Katsuki and Izuku haven't had an introspection (or at least a meaningful one) on themselves where they've come to grips with their faults and have vowed to change for the better. Izuku doesn't stop to think that maybe Katsuki shouldn't have treated him the way he did since they were kids, because Izuku's more concerned about heroism, mastering OFA, and (ugh) proving to Katsuki that he'll surpass him, being his image of victory. Katsuki hasn't really thought about his actions aside from that one time after the Provisional License Exams that ultimately amounted to nothing. It's been said time and time again by several in the fandom that Katsuki hasn't really changed, and for as much growth (or lack thereof) as he's had throughout the entire course of the series, the statement is not without merit. Case and point: the very first thing Katsuki spits out to Izuku when All Might reveals Nana's Quirk?
I WON!
He's more concerned about his own image and pride then about Izuku's progress. He's already got flight down, so instead of leaving it at that or (highly unlikely) offering to help Izuku figure out the whole flight thing, he decides it's a great thing that Izuku will waste his time learning something Katsuki already knows so Katsuki can make sure he can beat Izuku yet again. He's not adding anything to the conversation, and while Izuku isn't personally bothered, Katsuki's next words are not okay, even if they're relatively tame.
Before you tell me that Katsuki is just trying to encourage Izuku or something like that along those lines, let's take a look at their proceeding dialogue:
T-that's not true! I'll just master it and catch up to you!!
You're just going to panic again! Explode and go to Hell!
Buy I managed to get the gist of Blackwhip, so...
DIE!!
No hesitation...!
...Katsuki is not being encouraging in any way, shape, or form. He's being discouraging; in spite of Izuku's protest, Katsuki insists that Izuku is going to crash and burn once more. Never mind that Izuku isn't bothered by it, what Katsuki is saying is not okay. No one can be the best but him, so no one can improve... including Izuku. Forget about Izuku's previous feats, forget the fact that he learned to use the base Quirk without damaging himself AND a second Quirk in less than a year. As long as Katsuki can pull ahead, stupid Deku won't be able to catch up and he'll prove that he'll forever be the best.
...can you feel my frustration with this character?
And then there are the panels where Izuku looks like he reading the journal, and Katsuki is making a gremlin face while make the "kill" gesture across his neck, and All Might's looking at it like it's something precious. Other people called this scene adorable, but for me, it only proves that Katsuki hasn't changed and WHY he hasn't changed. He still treats Izuku as someone lesser instead of as an equal; he might not be Quirkless anymore, but for Katsuki, Izuku just another extra to surpass. And then Izuku tries to be civil with Katsuki, but... the boy really does not care about him. And then people like All Might don't know the full depth of their relationship and consider this a massive improvement, and see no reason to confront Katsuki or Izuku about their issues.
Seriously, the narrative is so contrived in Katsuki's favor, I'm losing hope that Horikoshi will ever try to fix it properly.
And before you give me Izuku's whole spiel about:
I never thought the day would come where I could speak so naturally with Kacchan.
NARRATORS! CAN! BE! BIASED!!!
Just because Izuku is the protagonist and overall honest does not mean his views/relationship with Katsuki are ultimately well. I'm not saying he's an unreliable narrator, since he hasn't really gone to Delusion City as he's told us the story, but it's very clear that he doesn't give Katsuki's actions too much thought. Him suddenly being able to talk casually with Katsuki is not a major feat: EVERYONE ELSE can casually talk to Katsuki just as well even if his personality is, quoting Denki, "flaming crap mixed with sewage." At this point, I'm just tuning out all the times the narrative tries to claim that Izuku is completely mentally sound, or that Katsuki has made significant progress.
You can keep shouting it from every roof top you want to, but unless you're showing CONSISTENCY, you're not showing substance.
So, TL;DR This chapter continues to push the Bakudeku rival dynamic while instead showing how Katsuki has ultimately barely changed and is continually enabled by other characters and the narrative to continue his behavior because virtually everyone around him has an abnormally high tolerance for his bulls***.
That's all I can write right now. Thank you for reading.

Ok, something I don't like about the bnha fandom, and it's something that I've seen done a lot, is how the majority of the fandom seems to believe that, the 3 main characters, are the only ones who've went through traumatic experiences, and their stans will keep whining about how their "babies" are traumatized, and that's why they behave a certain way. Like, I legit saw a person trying to justify Bakugo's anger saying, that it all stemmed from trauma, because he was attacked by the sludge villain, was kidnapped, and then blamed himself for All Might's retirement. Like, don't get me wrong, it's true that those aren't nice experiences, and I'm in no way trying to diminsh the psychological damage he suffered, but, being attacked by a villain? Ofc, it's not as if the other kids from class A haven't been attacked on countless occassions too. But somehow, being attacked only becomes traumatic when it happens to Bakugo. It's true that he was kidnapped, but Toko was also almost kidnapped too, but somehow that isn't traumatic. And while it's true that Bakugou was taken away, Shigaraki treated him gently. Yeah they tied him to a chair, but so did the heroes, when he won first place in the sports fest, and tied to the podium to accept the medal. They treated him really good, in the few minutes he spent there before the hero rescue team arrived, and he was saved by his friends. Again, he was later attacked by the LOV when he tried to escape, but that doesn't make him special, all the other kids were targeted and attacked too at the training camp, and in the USJ, and in the current war arc. So why is it only considered traumatic, specifically when it comes to Bakugo? And watching All Might lose his powers, again, must have been traumatic for the entire country, not just Bakugo. Because ofc, it's not as if we really had cut scenes of Tsuyu crying, and some of the other kid's terrified reactions during that fight/revelation of AM. Bakugo blaming himself was necessary to give him development, but that AFO/OFA fight, was traumatising for everyone. And anyways, there's other kids who've went through extremely terrifying and traumatic experiences, that are really overlooked: MANGA SPOILERS BELOW. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK:
* Asui almost being killed by Shigaraki at USJ.
*Iida almost being killed by Kurogiri
*Shouji literally having to tackle Kurogiri to the ground to save Iida, even with the knowledge that doing that could probably kill him. And in one of the novels it's stated poor kid has nightmares with this experience.
*All the kids who literally had to deal with it, and fight Kurogiri themselves, eventhough that was their first time ever, facing real villains. (Uraraka, Sero, Sato, Shouji, and I think Mina as well).
*Absolutely the entire class, after seeing Aizawa's face being smashed into the ground by a Nomu, until he almost died (especially Shouji who then, had to deal with it and carry said teacher on his back, even with the knowledge that he could die while he was carrying him).
*Iida who had to escape the USJ, and leave his friends behind to get help, probably was terrified the entire time that one of his classmates could be killed during his absence, and he would more than probably have blamed himself if that happened.
*Iida almost being killed by Stain. (Ik Deku and Shoto were there too, but it's Iida's suffering the one that's overlooked, that's why I'm bringing it up here).
*Iida seeing his brother on the verge of death is really traumatic too, if you asked me.
*Momo and the other kid from class B (Awase Yosetsu), were almost murdered by a fucking Nomu during training camp.
*Shouji literally losing one of his limbs to Moonfish, being chased down and almost murdered by berserk DS, having his chopped arm burnt by Dabi, and then having to stand between Deku and a serial killer (Toga), to protect the mc, knowing that that bitch was fully capable of murdering him, but he was more than willing to lay down his life for Deku, and the general confrontation his group had vs the villains.
*Tokoyami losin control of DS, after being attacked by Moonfish, seeing his friend lose an arm in front of him, and after that, being completely helpless, at Dark Shadow's mercy, seeing as his friends were almost murdered by him, and all he could do was just cross his fingers, and hope none of them died. Add to that the fact that he was almost kidnapped too, (which meant that Mr. Compress was sure Toko had great potential for villainy too, just for his destructive quirk, and that this guy was sure, Shigaraki would have liked Tokoyami. Or he wouldn't have bothered himself taking him).
*Uraraka's and Asui's battle against Toga, where they had to face a dangerous murderer on their own, fully aware that they could die, but they still fought her.
*Mina's encounter with Machia during her school years deserves a mention too (the reason I mention only Mina and not Kirishima, is because her traumatic experience is the one that's looked over, while Kiri's "sad backstory" isn't).
*The horribly traumatic experience Denki went through during the war arc, that he was on the front lines.
*Everything Tokoyami has went through during this war with Hawks, that manga readers should already know.
*The trauma the entirety of Momo's group had to suffer from the fact that they had to face Machia on their own, without any pros there to help them.
The reason I didn't mention Bakugo and Deku going vs Shigaraki, is because they really haven't been in much danger, despite going vs the current most powerful character in the manga, they haven't been hurt at all (not a single scratch, unlike the other students), and anyways, they still have Endeavour by their side to be sacrificed for them if necessary (unlike the other kids who were completely alone with no one there to save them).
*Shouji's probable entire backstory/childhood of bullying, that has been hinted on many occassions, and is more than probably, worse than Midoriya's.
As we can see, the mcs aren't the only traumatized characters, all the students are. That's honestly the reason I can't get attached to any of the main characters, not only because you'll see them being talked bout everywhere, because as expected, they're the most popular characters, but because some of their stans can be annoying with how much they favour them over the other characters. (And sorry not sorry, but in my humble opinion, there's absolutely nothing bout Izuku, Bakugo, or Shoto that interests me or catches my attention). Anyways, don't go around thinking the 3 mcs are the only ones who suffered, when it's clear some of their classmates have went through worse things, lol.

Something I see a lot in art and stuff is like. Pro Hero Izuku (sometimes even current Izuku) being Incredibly Big Buff And Masculine(TM) with usually an undercut or like, his curly hair is shorter in some way. And at first, I couldn’t really place what bugged me about it so much, necessarily, but now I have an answer.
The reason is because Izuku isn’t a hyper masculine person. That’s just not who he is, it never has been, and I don’t think it ever will be. And it bothers me that people feel the need to make him hyper masculine. Because of what? His power? All Might? An entire part of Izuku’s plot line is that he’s trying to become his own person and stop copying All Might. That was the point of the shoot style thing, and why he needs to “make One for All his own”. Besides, Nana had One for All, and she wasn’t built like an All Might style body builder. “But Mel!” you say, “Nana is still really muscular!” You’re right. I didn’t say she’s not. I said she’s not a body builder, and I’m pointing out that she has a smaller build, while still being incredibly strong and powerful. So, why does Izuku need to be hyper buff to hold One for All? The answer is, he doesn’t!
I’m hesitant to say this because people will get all annoyed and think I’m being over-dramatic, but truthfully? The answer is toxic masculinity and misogyny. Of course, Izuku in canon is a boy, but the way that the fandom treats him is still inherently misogynist. Throughout the series, Izuku displays plenty more feminine traits than he does masculine ones. He cries a lot, he’s compassionate, he’s excitable, and when it comes to physical appearance, he’s got a round face, he’s small, while his hair isn’t long long it’s not the kind of short you usually expect from most male characters, and it cannot be denied that many people would describe him as “cute” rather than handsome. To completely ignore these traits and to portray him as some kind of Masculine Beefcake Man is... like you haven’t been paying attention at all. What way would you describe it if not Toxic Masculinity?
Again, it’s not about his job being a pro hero either, because a widely popular headcanon that I see lots of and even enjoy is Todoroki having long hair and being gender nonconforming. Why is it that even though Izuku is the one to constantly show more feminine traits, Todoroki is the one who has the popular headcanon about being gender nonconforming? Why does it have to be that way? Perhaps it’s because even though canon Todoroki can be described as a “pretty boy” it’s undeniable that he is given more masculine traits, and so people are okay with making him gender nonconforming because even though they say he’s nonconforming, they still see him as more masculine. Maybe I’m completely wrong about that, but you can’t deny that it’s strange how Todoroki gets to have the popular gnc headcanon even though Izuku is right there, already being pretty gnc in canon.
Anyways, TL;DR: we need to start acknowledging and representing Izuku’s gender nonconformity, and we need to stop forcing a hyper masculine picture onto him. That’s all for now, good bye

I ship you with Jake, Zack, Tidus, Prompto, Sora, Peter and Izuku!
Jake:
Tumblr media
At first you didn’t quite get along, or not nearly as well as you do now. Before you liked him but communication was tough, a lot of things got lost in translation. Maybe because he kept talking in Die Hard references, but he once offered to watch it with you and after that day you’ve been inseparable.
Zack:
Tumblr media
At first he teased you a lot because you were so shy and wanted you to open up a little, which you did. In time, you started teasing him too, which made him laugh in amusement but he was really happy about it too. You just goof around a lot and it’s great.
Tidus:
Tumblr media
With you two it’s all fun and games, your relationship is super cute and cuddly and playful. You’re first and foremost best friends, always making each other laugh, having countless inside jokes and also being there for each other. Yet at the same time you’re very affectionate and such an adorable couple.
Prompto:
Tumblr media
You two would be so close! Both of you are kind of shy at first but so bubbly, cheerful, caring, friendly and adorable once you feel more comfortable! You’re always hanging out and chatting and fangirling together. You have so much in common, like the fact that your friends are a priority, how affectionate you are and your love for anime, videogames and music.
Sora:
Tumblr media
You get each other really well, sometimes to the point that you can have full conversations without even having to say a word, all with nods and glances and smiles. You and Sora get along extremely well, are super silly and playful and have so much fun together!
Peter:
Tumblr media
You two are just nerds together, in the best way possible. Not only do you understand each other and have so much trust and familiarity that you’re extremely comfortable around one another, but you also share many likes and often get excited about things together.
MY HERO ACADEMIA
Lover: Izuku. You two are so similar that you would immediately click together and get along. You’re both loving, sensitive, hardworking and you would excited about things together!
Best friend: Ochako. At first you didn’t like each other that much because of the circumstances in which you met. But after some time in which things settled, you discovered you’re pretty alike! And you’re great friends, not to mention that you’re always there for each oher.
Enemy: Bakugo. It was a cumulous of things. You didn’t get on the right foot and weren’t on the best of terms, and the fact that he’s always so angry and also bothering Izuku doesn’t help either. You just can’t help but to glare at each other every time you pass by.
Other characters: Iida is very fond and protective of you, he’s basically like an older brother to you. All-Might has heard about you from Izuku and he thinks you’re promising! He’s always kind to you when you encounter and very friendly and interested in your progress as a hero.
Drabbles
Izuku
You noticed someone staring at you, and when you turned around you saw a green-haired boy, gawking at you. His eyes were opened wide and nearly sparkled at the sight of you.
“Um... hi” You shyly smiled at him, causing him to gasp.
“Hi! Miri-san!” His hands moved to his mouth as he stared in awe. “I heard so much about you!”
You averted your gaze, suddenly embarrassed by this excited boy who seemed to be a fan. He seemed really nice.
“You have?” You bashfully replied, daring to lock eyes with him again. His glance was warm and welcoming.
“Yes! He offered a hand to you, which you took and softly shook. “M-My name is Midoriya Izuku, nice to meet you! I’m a big fan!”
You felt yourself blushing, not really used to all the compliments. Sure, you had used your power to save some people when you could, but you weren’t All-Might. You were genuinely surprised that he even heard about you.
“I’m excited to be in class with you!” Izuku said, seeing as you were silent.
“M-Me too!” You genuinely said, getting a liking to him already. “Maybe we can talk some time, exchange tactics!”
His entire face lit up in response, and he nodded vehemently.
Ochako
You wondered what was going on between them. Izuku and Ochako were friends, but it made you jealous to think that maybe they once wanted to be something more? Now that you were officially Izuku’s girlfriend, it was different.
You frowned as they smiled at each other, hating to feel the chemistry they shared. Ochako’s glance fell over you, and you were relived to see she remembered you were right there.
“M-Miri-kun!” Ochako went to your desk, taking advantage of the ruckus of the classroom during the break. “Is something wrong?”
You scowled a little. Objectively speaking, Ochako-kun was kind, hardworking and friendly. Yet you couldn’t help but to feel jealous of their relationship.
“No...” You replied, too shy to confess it to her. It wasn’t really her fault.
“Is it because of Midoriya-kun?” She asked worriedly.“W-We’re just friends, I promise!”
“Really close friends” You nodded, unable to contain your saddened expression. “Closer than him and me are right now”
Ochako blinked repeatedly, taken aback by your answer. Ever since you started dating, you and Izuku had been a bit distant and you couldn’t tell why.
“Because he likes you so much you make him nervous!” She laughed a little. “He told me, he’s a bit awkward, but I’m sure that will pass soon”
“Thanks, Ochako-kun” You chuckled as well, feeling a bit silly that you didn’t think of that yourself.
She grinned, and you knew that once you were past that, maybe you could be friends. Good friends.
Bakugo
You and Bakugo had never gotten along. You always kind of disliked each other, and it only worsened when you saw how he treated his ‘best friend’, who happened to be your boyfriend too. So when he bumped his shoulder into yours and kept on walking without even saying sorry, you got mad at him.
“Watch where you’re going!” You exclaimed, even if this was your first actual interaction with him.
Izuku, who was right beside you, shook your arm in apprehension. But you couldn’t help but to tell Bakugo off. The latter turned around slowly.
“Maybe you should watch where you’re going” His voice started at a normal volume, but began raising as he kept speaking. “Since you’re always listening to your stupid music and you occupy so much space, Miri!!”
You gasped, not paying attention to the music you were actually listening to at that very moment, sharing an earbud with Izuku. Bakugo just insulted you, twice!
“Take that back!” Izuku said, angrily, before you could even get over the shock to defend yourself. “Miri-kun’s music is not stupid and she doesn’t occupy too much space!!!”
You both stared at Izuku in astonishment, surprised that he was facing Bakugo.
“Yeah” You smirked, watching how it rendered him speechless. “Who’s stupid now, you jerk?”
He gawked at you as you passed him by, your heart warm that the first time Izuku stood up to him was to protect you.

I make this post in the hopes some people watch, read and stay mad. It's 2022 and if you still write any Izu shipping fic- regardless with who- where bk is important for Zuzu or the shipping.
You are shipping wrong! And I say this 100% right and certain of this.
Not saying WHO yoi should ship, but when you ship someone- any ship of any fandom- the general consensus is for 2 characters to be together and happy.
And I know some may say "I ship two villains. They do fucked up shit" ok. Then they are fucked up but in love.
And now you wonder "what's matter? If we ship character A abusing gaslight character B, its not as if we are condoning such acts"
TRUE! I can't stress this enough. Liking dark content is not a sin or illegal, but it's sus how the MHA fandom takes Izuku Midoriya and puts him in awful and abusive situations in the name of "love"
A certian server in the discord seems to make Izu the eternal victim, the one who needs to sacrifice everything to be with his lover...who wont sacrifice anything.
And think back how the number of abusive relationships show in the media are awful...See, any "romance" mainstreaming.
And I mention this bc...why is so hard to make healthy relationships?
I ship shigadeku...and the ship can be healthy even if Zuzu falls to the dark side.
You can ship Izuocha and not make Ochako laugh when BK mistreat Izu.
You can ship Izux anyone. And not make him "cant function without my love interest"
You can make healthy and interesting. Also, the whole myth "fucked up relationships are more interesting to read" is not true.
I wouldn't read any Joker X Harley comic...
But I would love to read a Poison Ivy x Harly comic.

Problematic Ships/Kinks in Fandom (and why you should stop bothering people about them).
I get that content can put bad things in a positive light on a widespread scale, but this is fanfiction. It's not public. It’s not widespread by any means. It's like having a rape kink directed at yourself--Rape is wrong. Theyalready know that. Guess what? The person who likes the idea of getting raped probably isn’t going to advocate for the rape of other people.
The same goes for problematic fandom kinks. Nobody gets shamed for having a rape kink on themselves or even writing about it in their personal time, but the moment I write about a sixteen year old Deku and his teacher, I'm apparently promoting underaged sex with a minor. I would never ever think about young people irl in such a context let alone write about it for the general public to read. This is anime and it's not for the public to read, it's for ME and people that want to read about that stuff without hurting anyone. It’s like watching a porn with a teacher student scene. It’s a medium to burn off the kink safely without hurting anyone since I can't even think about real young people like that at all.
People are getting mad at us for creating content like somehow one, badly written fanfic is going to make abuse okay or something. No. it's not. You want problematic? Take money-bloated SAO that normalizes the objectification of women with nearly every goddamn episode. it's so popular that young boys think it's okay to treat women like that. It's only problematic because it's so hyped and popular. If it were just a very small niche of people that liked it, it would be fine, but it's normalizing that kind of behavior because it has such a huge reach. it's directed at teenage boys shamelessly. It's even fine to have that kind of kink about objectifying women as long as you know it's not okay to do it in real life. (Also don’t expect people to like you once they know you have it). But it's being normalized so hard in that series that people (young nerds) are starting to think it's okay. That is what problematic means.
Nobody in my fandom, as far as I know, thinks abuse, rape, sex with a minor, or anything else like that is ACTUALLY okay.
My fanfic about sixteen year old deku getting plowed by a future version of bakugou? It will sizzle for a bit and then DIE because a few people will read it and it will never see the light of day again. The group it would reach is not big enough for it to influence anything. It’s not going on TV or anything. It’s not going to singlehandedly change public opinion on those issues. If I wrote something like that where it’s glorifying abuse of a minor, it will die off quicker than moms in anime, because not a lot of people like that kind of thing.
Also, personally, when I write stuff like that, I don't glorify anything. it's clear in my writing that this isn't allowed or even good. it's clear that this is a kink being indulged even though it's clearly wrong. Even if I didn’t do that, it would be fine as long as I wasn’t trying to spread it to people outside of the fandom or make it into an original story and publish it.
Fandom should be fun, indulgent, and stress-free--that's why we go there. If the stress of canon anime is too much or we would like to see it in a different light, or we suddenly had a strong fantasy about it, fandom is there to burn off that energy. I don't always want to have to have discourse about my favorite characters being problematic. I don't want to have to look at Endeavor/Hawks fics and acknowledge that hawks is way too young for him; that he was a child while Endeavor was a pro hero. I don't want to have to make Endeavor atone for abusing his children every fucking time I want to write a fanfic about him. I don't want to have to write a Bakugou redemption arc in every fucking bakudeku I write. I definitely don't want to have to address Izuku's anxiety and possible depression every time I write about him (depression and anxiety hits too close to home). These are my favorite characters and, while yes they're flawed and damaged, they're still my faves. I want to write and read good things about my faves.
I’m not influencing anyone into sharing problematic kinks with me. Most everybody who reads my things already does. I don’t have a target audience big enough to change morals or values. I’m an insignificant speck in the world of writing, and if I were to publish a novel about the abuse of a young boy in love with an adult and make it okay for them to be together, feel free to stone me and put me in jail, but I ain’t getting paid for anything and I’m not a good enough writer to make fanfiction more popular than original books. Nobody is getting hurt because of my writing. Nothing significant about societal norms is changing because of my writing. No matter what I write, pedophilia is wrong. Rape is wrong. Abuse is wrong.
We already know that. Kinks don’t give a fuck. We’re indulging in them safely and nobody is getting hurt. If you really want to stop giving a voice to these problematic kinks, stop engaging them. Let them burn and die in the fire where they ultimately will rather than constantly bringing them up.
Ship and let ship!

Bakugo Critical meta and musings under the cut.
Warnings: Mentions of bullying and suicide baiting.
So I was trying to unravel a frayed thread of a thought all of yesterday and @unsuccesscr GREATLY helped me come to the conclusion my mind was struggling to grasp at.
I’ve been rewatching the entire series to hear the English dubbing because it is a absolute treasure, while also jotting down notes from canon to help better flesh out my portrayal of Bakugo. The events leading up to the episode I last watched (”Bakugo’s Start Line”) kept... bothering me. Mainly, the sheer fact that Bakugo literally almost suffers a massive panic attack upon realizing:
a) He lost the exercise b) He was the reason why they lost the exercise and most importantly, c) that Izuku had predicted his movements so well and formulated a plan so aptly, he himself was beginning to question whether or not he could win in a head to head fight
Gonna dump part of HD and I’s discord conversation here:
Soda: but i almost feel like Izuku admitting there's such a VAST DIFFERENCE in power/skill between them and he's like "I STILL WANNA BEAT YOU THO" makes him freak out, in that episode???? HD: Yeah I think Bakugo thinks of Izuku as weak but he also sees how fast he’s progressing and is threatened by that. I think that fight’s the first time Bakugo thought holy shit this guy is going to beat me one day Soda: YEah, like... “he's got the DRIVE and maybe he can't take me on head to head NOW, but at this rate he'll just fucking eclipse me-- holy shit” it's AMAZING what willpower can do. OH maybe that's also what my mind was trying to unravel- Like, there's an aspect of like "he has the same ambition as ME but on a way HIGHER level because he's starting out from the bottom and he's trying to catch up" sorta deal? Cuz yeah Bakugo is smart and talented, but when you're on the top, it's SO easy to get complacent.
Now, a lot of people seem to dismiss this as “Bakugo has issues with losing”, but if Bakugo just ‘can’t take losing well’, he’d have a nasty attitude/would throw a temper tantrum for x period of time, right? The fact that he is HYPERVENTILATING AND VISIBLY HAVING AN ALMOST DISASSOCIATIVE MOMENT seems far more extreme than ‘having an issue with losing’, but I’ll get into that in a different examination of Bakugo and potential disorders I headcanon him as having.
This all lead to the next major thing that has been bothering me since the very beginning of the series: Bakugo claims he wants to be the ‘only person accepted to U.A. from Aldera’ and is very adamant about telling Midoriya to not even apply to U.A., but if Bakugo really considers Izuku to be so weak and beneath him, then would it honestly even matter if he applied at all? Since Midoriya would presumably not be accepted, in Bakugo’s mind.
Later on, when it is revealed that both he and Izuku have been accepted to U.A. by one of their middle school teachers, he immediately responds with violence, threats, and reiterates that he’d already warned Izuku not to apply, period. He is absolutely fucking livid about this, which strikes me as odd because later during the Quirk Assessment Test, we keep hearing Bakugo’s thoughts and how Izuku was “just a bug that I could crush anytime I wanted to”- It’s almost like he keeps repeating this line about Midoriya being “a little bug that I could just smash into the ground” to reassure himself. HD hit the nail right on the head with this reply, bolded for emphasis:
HD: Like Bakugo goes on about him being just a pebble on the side of the road but he has always treated Izuku like an obstacle rather than ignoring him Like you mentioned before he’s basically Obsessed He absolutely loses his shit over the idea of Izuku applying unlike the others in his class that actually have quirks And he’s also upset at not being placed in the same testing ground as Izuku and thus has no direct way to compete with him His attitude just doesn’t match up with his assertion that Izuku is nothing/not in his way at all
Mind you, he is like this before he even experiences a total loss to Izuku in the training exercise, thus has no point of reference to say that Midoriya even has the slightest chance of winning. He immediately and single-mindedly focuses on the fact that he needs to prove he is vastly superior- it’s almost like he needs an audience (the other applicants, the judges, the staff/teachers) to witness that he is leagues above Midoriya.
I’m just going to c/p HD’s assessment to some questions and theories I posed in our Discord conversation here, but it concisely illustrates what I’m trying to get at:
HD: So like first of all, I think you’re right that originally Bakugo really loved the attention and praise he got for his quirk and so he loved having Izuku around both because he praised him and because he was the Least Amazing (tm) which made Bakugo appear even better in comparison. And as he got older he kind of got sick of everyone kissing up to him. But the thing is that he doesn’t treat the others like he treats Izuku. He still hangs out with and seems to be friends with his lackeys from elementary school so what’s the difference? I think Izuku’s lack of quirk and then subsequent lack of complying to the norms set out for quirkless people are a factor- yes, but not the entire problem
Izuku is, in every way, except in terms of power, a natural born hero. Someone like Bakugo who also admired All Might and who is incredibly intelligent in his own right would likely recognize this. So I think his treatment in part is due to Bakugo feeling threatened. I think he is actively trying to crush Izuku so that Izuku is unable to surpass him. And I think this because of how upset he is at the idea of Izuku applying to UA and how ready to accept that Izuku got in even without a quirk.
Additionally he’s always insisting that Izuku is looking down on him but this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense? Like Izuku is very clear that he’s admiring Bakugo. So I think Bakugo may be projecting his fears that he may be surpassed by someone he views as inherently less than himself i.e. he’s insecure and taking that out on Izuku, as well as trying to make him give up by bullying him relentlessly
Case in point, Bakugo doesn’t just stop at laughing about Izuku’s dream to become a hero since he was little/the fact that he wants to try anyway- He has to point out “why would they accept you, when they could have ME”, not to mention he stoops to really severe demoralization tactics by saying Izuku’s only hope of making his dream come true is being reborn with a Quirk, so he might as well just kill himself if he’s that dedicated to his goal. This is not the behavior of someone who considers Izuku to be non-threatening, he’s consciously belittling him to wear him down and crush his hopes into dust- Look at how the ‘extras’ of his homeroom are treated: he doesn’t recall their names, let alone their quirks, but he also isn’t outright hostile towards them to the same level he is with Midoriya. Bakugo starts actively bullying Izuku once his own Quirk manifests, but continues to call him by a mean-spirited nickname that literally translates into “the one who can't achieve/do anything”. Sure, the kanji can be read that way so it might be partly coincidental, but the fact that he repeatedly focuses on Izuku’s apparent inability to accomplish anything just strengthens my belief that all of this is entirely too personal to be written off the way the Fandom has been doing since S1.

I was thinking about the whole theme of stories, see, sometimes a story encapsulated the theme perfectly.
● forgiviness
● revenge
● redemption
● power/ corruption
● salvation
And more. But surr sometimes a story can just be about "Bob and his quest" and we see thr MC facing obstacles to obtain what he/she wants.
Why I'm starting with this?
Tell me the theme of MHA.
You can't!
◇ Its about how heroes are violents - you can't say this and say "yes shiggy slay" bc the villians are ten times more violents and show no remorse.
◇ Everyone can be a hero- the first chapter kills that. You need to have a quirk to be a hero and be considered a person...and Hori allows his MC to have this view as well others characters like AM who arr blind to Izuku's obvious abuse at the hand of bk.
◇ its a story how Izuku becames the number 1- wrong, the story hardly let Izuku wins or learn. He never got recognition for his actions...we never found out why he wants to be a hero nor what a hero means for this society
◇ Its a story about Izu saving Shiggy- a lovely idea but the execution is to frown up. Izuku never had a solid interaction with Shigaraki - fun bc THEY HAVE PARALELS- nor Shigaraki ever show remorse or want to be saved...until AFO took over his body.
Overral, MHA is a bad written story that got popular.

Instead of talking how a certain character sucks, I want to talk about shonen, or more precisely, how some fans don't seem to grasp that the whole discourse "kids going to war in mha oh no!" Is not a clever or hot take.
Why?
Bc those kids aren't normal kids, they have powers. Ok, let me explain. When you read certains YA books or consume media like animes where "teens can shoot laser throught their hands" there a suspescion of desbelief here.
And in shonen, kids with magic powers often fight each other and go to some magic war. You see this in any anime.
(My issue with quirkless hero Izuku is...for to work, everyone needs to be quirkless too. But, in canon, Izuku would be faced against bjgger odds and would need a power)
Back to the fictional war, many people then see mha war arc and spread the "hot take" like "war is bad" or "child soldiers! Hori is make a comment here" or "look how traumatized the kids are"
Which....is a lukewarm reply. And how funny the only character to say this was Rock Lock, a black man.
The kids? They are fine.
"No, they arent! Look at this panel where they are sad 😡 the hero society is corrupt bla bla"
1) if we see them sad is bc the scene asks for, not bc we got the sense they are traumatized. No one is showing any signal of pstd.
2) we dont know class a1 to know how they would react.
3) literally, gave a bath to izu- a scene that angers me- and crack jokes.
Those kids fought a war and are fine. Hori is not saying anything here, if anything ...he is just using the aesthetic of war.
The only one who feels ĺike shit is Izuku, the mc and that may be entirely related to the war. My point is....
Shonen has "child soldier" as a fantasy trope. "Imagine you, little kid, can blast the big bad guy and save the world with your friends"
Yes, some do well. Some do poorly. But Hori here is not being deep.

So finally it arrives the time to make this post. SAKURA IS BETTER THAN BAKUGOU
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Like when we see Naruto in its first chapters Sakura is not very likeable. I can hear the anti sakura fans saying "ah but Sakura said mean things about orphans"
Which yes she said this. Yes that is uncalled for but the difference here is....how her words come from a place of ignorance than malice.
Please! Not excusing here. Just explaining.
Sakura had 12 years old and sees Naruto- who does everything to gain attention- free as a bird and think that is the good side of being an orphan.
Again. It was all from ignorance. But one thing the scene paints and no one talks about is how...Sakura doesnt know anything about Sasuke....who is also an orphan.
🤨 if you crush on someone ...and dont know thay said crush is orphan...what that tells you?
And I want to point out how she did changed after that. "Ah. But she still doesnt want to date naruto" " ah but she did all that for sasuke"
1) she is not obligated to date him.
2) Naruto did pass as Sasuke using a jutso and gain a kiss from Sakura....so that is ok?
3) Sakura does treat him better but she is not obligated to date him and he always asks her out even when she makes clear she likes sasuke.
4) she never again said or did anything like that.
You can say Sakura has flaws. You can say her love for Sasuke is not great but you can't say she is like Bakugou.
She is willingly to work with others. Doesnt care about winning or be the strongest. Has flaws, has strenghts and is a good character.
Now.....Bakugou.
It doesn't matter if you read a fic where Bakugou donate a liver for Izuku to live. In canon, Bakugou is a horrible character.
Remember when I mentioned how Sakura made that orphan comment? It wasnt nice but it was out of ignorance ....
Bakugou suicide bait Izuku with 100% malice and intention. And shows no remorse (unlike Sakura who did show remorse) and contonies to be awful to Izuku.
And he doesn't changes through those 300 chapters.
Bakugou has no remorse. Bakugou makes an half assed apology trying to save his face...he shows no remorse ...and has tried to kill Izuku 2 times (maybe 3 if we count those little scenes. I rememeber one where Baku throws a snowball at Izuku...with glue or smth...TOO HURT and its implied he would do again...AND IZUKU WAS BLEEDING)
And if any bk stan is seeing this and think sakura is worse bc "huh she beat naruto for being a perv"
It is comedy. One I dont like but here the think...Naruto on the next scene is 100% fine. Izuku is not.
So I can say Bakugou is much worse.

Look, if you don't have proof to support your point...then don't go being hostile of people don't immediatly think you are holding the true of such poorly written manga.
Izuku, in canon, has no real friends or relationships. Sure, class A1 is nice but being nice doesn't correlate to friendship.
It's quite sad if you compare to others shonens like Bleach. The friendships aren't anything new but you do believe when they say "we are friends"
MHA doesn't have that. Hori either doesn't care or forget.
