Pride month, part 2! Now with the main couple from my worldbuilding project, Matakare and Masha, in their later years, happily growing old together.
Matakare is a scholar, anthropologist, and teacher who spent most of his adult life anywhere but his homeland to learn as much as he could. He also happens to be a pansexual trans man, who gave birth to his two daughters. Very kind, very curious, and a very loving husband and father.
Masha is Mata's friend turned lover turned husband over the course of said travels, initially tagging along to make sure Mata didn't get himself killed, but sticking around out of love and devotion for the whole journey. He commands a fleet of trading ships, although most of his sailing days are behind him to stick around home. He's bisexual, and pours every ounce of devotion he has into his family.
Also, if I have not made it obvious before, terfs can fuck right off. You're not welcome here. I will block if you start shit. For the rest of you, happy pride, and I'll be back with more characters next week!
--------------------------
Hey. Psssssst.
If you like these two, I opened an askblog for them recently. Check it out here and send an ask! Please! Okay, thank you.

transsexual is a good term, no matter who's using it for whatever reason. whether you are someone who is using it to refer to general trans experiences like it was originally used for, or using it to mean specifically that you want to or are changing your sex, that's great. it was the first word for the trans community alongside transvestite, and as time as progressed, it has changed in usage, but it has always meant a variety of experiences from the start. i think that's beautiful

I say this with the kindest way possible and no maliciousness but I do not feel affirmed in being counted under transmasc. There are so many posts I want to reblog or things I want be apart of but it’s under the transmasc umbrella. Which I’m under because I am transitioning. If I’m being called on I’d rather it be under trans man which is closest. Really I just identify with man. Which is why I’ll tag with man with trans experience. However, I’ve seen others comment about not fitting transmasc either because they aren’t masculine but are under the ftm or afab spectrum. Understandably the last two terms many people have their own differences on using which is one of the reasons transmasc became a bigger term.
I’ve seen posts before commenting on this topic or at least one post on the matter. Ultimately the way things are moving transmasc has already become the catch all term. Over time maybe I’ll grow use to it and I already like posts like it because it’s got everything but that one part I’m looking for. There are so many great posts out there that have common connections in transitioning as men, transmasc, or non binary but identity does matter. I’d rather at this point say all three but I understand the appeal of transmasc because it makes things easier to have a unifying term. Maybe there will be one that comes out or maybe it will be a term that’s already here but hasn’t been used in a while.
There’s also this other part of me that’s saying does this really matter when we have bigger fish to fry as a community? Our rights are under attack and the more visibility we face the more danger is coming. Which is actually a possibility this time for specifically trans men, mascs, and non binary individuals. We get swept under the rug and trans women, fems, and enbys have been taking the brunt of the public eye and heat for quite some time. At the same time so have the cruelties that we do face because we aren’t thought of as much, in particular POC. A good chunk of this is because we aren’t seen as a threat which has been discussed more than once. It gives me a less than human feeling though that I can’t discuss my feelings on this for fear of what will happen.I’m also afraid within the trans men, masc, and non binary communities as well to bring things up. Which is why trans men in particular leave our community is because they don’t feel welcome or feel more welcomed in cis communities after a certain point if they get to medically transition. I hope that it can change and we can find spaces that make people feel welcomed and safe so we can focus on the shit that’s going on.

1-2 years on T is just the beginning btw. Yes things change significantly during that time, you can and should be excited about it, and after a while being on T will be more about maintenance than new or continued visual changes. But at 1-2 years you still don’t really know what you’re gonna look and feel like long term, especially if you start young. You’re also gonna age, just like cis men do. Expecting your transition to be over the second you see any changes will leave you unprepared to live the rest of your life being perceived as a man, and it will also leave you susceptible to treating other transmascs poorly for having gone through changes you’re scared of experiencing yourself. Your experience is not only not universal, you haven’t even seen *your* entire experience yet
