Haikyuu fic Masterlist

I’ve been reading Haikyuu fanfics for YEARS, and I think it’s finally time to share my ultimate wisdom. This post is still super ongoing because I’m not nearly done reading fanfics, but this is what I have to recommend so far :) part two is here

I’ll include the summary, rating, word count, and my own comments on the fic (as well as the pairing)! Obviously there are going to be “cult-classics” on here because even though I’ve been in the fandom for a long time, I recognize that there are always going to be new fans (as long as there is at least one more season left lol) and they deserve the “generically” good ones! I’ll label the ones I love the most with <3

I was planning on doing the whole master list all in one but then I considered how long I’ve been reading/bookmarking fanfics for and realized that if I put all of it in one this would take me about 6 weeks to fully complete. Summary: The journey of friendship and love over the years wherein Tooru rejects Hajime 5 times followed by the 1 time he doesn't.

This one’s short and sweet and I think it captures Iwa and Oikawa’s relationship quite well. It starts when they’re just little babies and tracks their development from childhood friends to lovers.

The Secret Omega

Summary: Now, staring down at the cheery label which promises no regrets, Iwaizumi ironically but sincerely regrets every decision which lead him here. In particular, his annoying as fuck best friend. Who absolutely, definitely, no matter what, cannot find out that Iwaizumi is an omega.

Yet another A/B/O fic (prepare yourself). God this one is good. Love alpha Oikawa and omega iwa dynamics, and I think this fic captures it perfectly. I’m always in it for angst and this one features a lot of inner turmoil from Iwa’s perspective.

I’m also a sucker for HP AUs (though there won’t be as many as I’d like in here). Again, this captures Iwa and Oiks in all their glory but with a Harry Potter twist. Please read it, you’ll regret nothing (little to no angst btw, other than the general “they’re getting to know each other and Iwa hates Oikawa at first” stuff).

Thirty Years and Change (The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad)

Summary: It’s July 10th, 2024, and Oikawa Tooru is an Olympian. His smiling face airs on an NHK promo every 45 seconds. He’s captain of the national men’s volleyball team, reigning star of the professional leagues, and he hasn't spoken to Iwaizumi Hajime in two years. He has, however, sent Iwaizumi tickets for the 2024 Los Angeles Summer Games.

This is set in the future (but pls keep in mind this was written WAY before the recent reveal of what the characters end up doing career-wise) where Oikawa is a world rebound Olympian. Iwa and Oikawa are N/C at the beginning of this so please also keep in mind that this one will be an angsty slow burn, but with a happy ending.

Cop Iwaizumi and bad guy mafia boss Oikawa. Honestly guys, almost anything ever written by Deathbelle is a cult classic in the Haikyuu fandom. At least to me, anyway. This one is angsty and smutty and well written and overall just incredible. I URGE you to read this one. Saw you at the Fish Market

This one I will admit to only have read once, but it was really cute and really funny with some reallllly light angst sprinkled in there. I honestly read this back in 2020 so my memory’s a bit fuzzy on it but I think it still deserves recognition!

Part 1 of a really great series. This one is a bit longer but it’s really cute and I love it. Long distance Iwa and Oikawa make for slight angst and heavy mutual pining.

This one is the reverse of What you Came for with cop Oikawa and yakuza Iwaizumi. It’s in the POV of all the characters in the fic and is definitely interesting to read. This one IS a popular one so chances are you will like it!

And Suddenly, We Were Strangers

This on is really sad and kind of heartbreaking. Amnesia AU where Oikawa doesn’t remember Iwaizumi. Another rather popular fic in the community, it has angst on angst on angst but with a happy ending. Pretty much a hurt/comfort fic.

Iwaizumi is a hundred-percent sure if he tried wearing that outfit, Hanamaki and Matsukawa would laugh him out of Tokyo. On REIGN, though, it just — it works.

Remember when I said that there were going to be cult classics in here? Yeah. This is one of them. So incredibly written but tbh the ending made me so MAD. Not because of sad stuff or anything actually bad happening, I just don’t like how a lot of authors always make Iwa out to be the bad guy when Oikawa is the one fucking up or being over dramatic. Other Than that though, go read this fic if you haven’t already. Right now. Do it.

I read this for the first time in the eight grade. Another childhood friends to lovers progression fic but this time make it royal. So so so so so good. Hands down one of my fav IwaOi fics of all time!

Their works are so good I literally will suck their penis as repayment. You will almost never find better iwaoi fics than from this person. I wish they were still as active in the fandom as they used to be but honestly, they could never write a fic again and I’d still be satisfied lmao

High Rise

Sooooo freaking cute. Cannot say that enough. This fic deserves way more recognition than I feel like it gets. Please love it as much as I do.

I’m being 100% honest here when I say that you don’t need a summary to know that you HAVE to read this fic. Remember when I said that the last fic has so many more bookmarks than the average fic? Yeah. Compare that to this one and it blows it WAY out of the water. Seriously. Just do yourself a favour and read it.

So so so good. This one is a bit of a classic to us og Haikyuu fans. I don’t see this one get mentioned very often but it needs to be read more for sure.

This is it guys. The last of my IwaOi centric fic recs. A Place to Call Home is probably my favourite fic for this pairing. The angst is good, the characters and development are amazingly written. There’s some BokuAka on the side for good measure. And yes, it is A/B/O in a sense that is hard to ignore but if you’re going to read anything on this list it has to be this one. It is genuinely amazing. Oikawa is a single parent in this and Iwa is some random alpha dude that wants to be a part of their lives. Seriously just so fucking good I cannot stress that enough. Plus, as a bonus, the author wrote Oikawa’s son aged up with his own love interest in a fic as part of the series. Something to Call our Own is such a good companion piece and I just love it so much. It’s 11/11 chapters of pure tooth rotting fluff. I have never seen this fic recommended before but it seriously needs the recognition. Please please please read this!

an introductory rec list (that no one asked for) to some of my favorite ships: drarry [4/10]

First fic I read for the pairing: Obsession by yesbocchan [2k,T] Harry thinks Malfoy is up to something evil. Until he finds out maybe he's not the only one with an obsession. [just a cute little eighth year fic i saw on tumblr back when i was first getting into fandom stuff (and back into harry potter in general) when i was near the end of high school. it’s cute, it’s sweet, and i was curious about drarry as a concept so]

Fic that really sold me on the pairing: Stealing Sweaters by DorthyAnn [12k,T] It's their eighth and final year and over the course of several months, Harry and Draco have managed to become close friends. Their friends are entirely certain that they ought to be much, much more. So they just decide to... help things along. [listen, everything that DorthyAnn writes is phenomenal, so how could i not fall in love with this ship after this?]

Absolute favorite fic(s) for the pairing: Animus Nexus by MystyVander [96k,T] It's Eighth Year at Hogwarts and it seems Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy hate each other more than ever before. Everybody is sick of it. Somebody was tired of the two enough to curse them, binding them together. What at first appears to be a death sentence to both Harry and Draco turns out to be the thing the both of them needed the most. [it’s enemies to friends to lovers coupled with accidental bonding coupled with discussions of magical theory coupled with wizarding traditions with a few misunderstandings and some angst all set in eighth year and that’s basically the perfect combination for me.] Twist of Fate by Oakstone730 [302k,T] Draco asks Harry to help him beat the Imperius curse during 4th year. The lessons turn into more than either expected. A story of redemption and forgiveness. Pairings: HP/DM (Slash) Timeframe: 1994-2002 Goblet to 4 yrs post-DH EWE Rating T for language, high angst, content. [this fic has lived rent-free in my head for three years and it fucking slaps. there’s angst and fluff and so many bittersweet moments and it’s both canon compliant and completely canon divergent and i am obsessed with it. 40000/10]

Most recent fic I’ve read for the pairing: love me now (touch me now) by swisstae [3k,G] Harry's never had a bath. Draco plans on changing that. OR in which Harry gets his hair washed and Loves It (and Draco. He loves Draco too.) [this fic is adorable and sweet and i enjoyed it immensely.]

Favorite AU(s) I’ve read for the pairing: Alternate Sorting AU (Slytherin!Harry): Malfoy Flavor by Vorabiza [199k,E] Harry’s ready to banish the Golden Boy image and take charge of his life. Unfortunately for him, or fortunately, there are surprises in store for him. [Slytherin!Harry but it’s not an entire canon rewrite like most of the alternate sorting fics i love so much, so that’s fun. also severitus and just the right amount of soul crushingly painful angst. oh and it has a delightfully fluffy little sequel. ] Alternate Sorting AU 2: Electric Boogaloo (Ravenclaw!Draco): Chaos Theory by Tessa Crowley [102k,E] Chaos: when the present determines the future, but the approximate present does not approximately determine the future. One gene varies, one neuron fires, one butterfly flaps its wings, and Draco Malfoy's life is completely different. Draco has always found a certain comfort in chaos. Perhaps he shouldn't. (warnings for: major character death, graphic depictions of violence, psychological torture, implied/referenced non-con) [as my notes on my bookmark said: GOD DAMNNNNN. I LOVE THIS FIC. I CRIED SO MUCH AND ALSO THERE WAS LAUGHTER AND JUST GOD DAMN. ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITES. so that about sums it up.] Time Travel AU: Annus Mirabilis by Ren [39k,E] Harry and Malfoy are trapped at Hogwarts around the time the school was founded. Stuck with a different way of doing magic, with no chocolate, and with each other, they have to find a way to work together if they want a chance to go home. [i almost never fuck with time travel aus but… this one slaps. also? hogwarts founders era?? hell yeah. also also? their relationship progresses in a way that feels so natural and the tension is so palpable and the writing is excellent.]

Favorite Series for the pairing: Leo Inter Serpentes by Aeternum [746k,E,6 Works] Just one conversation between two eleven year old boys goes slightly differently, and the world changes. Just how much will be different with Harry being sorted into Slytherin, and how much will stay the same? [Slytherin!Harry? Harry, Draco, Hermione friendship? Severitus? All in a complete series re-write that’s currently six completed works deep? What more could you possibly need?]

Longest fic I’ve read for the pairing: I Do What I Want by XxTheDarkLordxX [509k,E] They say you shouldn't touch what isn't yours... Too bad no one told Harry that. A simple mistake that Harry made in his first year at Hogwarts is coming back to bite him in the arse. The war is over but the threat to his life is just beginning. This story begins with a simple apology that changes Harry’s life. It starts a domino effect that leads to unbelievable connections, undying love, unique past lives, unknown villains and an unstoppable family. Follow Harry and his friends on an epic adventure filled with twists, bumps, comfort, enemies, a new life and a lot of love. (warnings for: major character death, some character bashing) [the first (or first few? i forget) chapters are written in first person but they’re an internal monologue and the rest of the fic is not in first person, just so you know. Also, the concept slaps and the fic is cute and i love to see it (and i’ve read it thrice).]

Fic(s) with some of my favorite tropes: Matchmaking: Ron Weasley: Accidental Matchmaker by Phoenix_Waves [2k,T] "There's not a sexual tension out there that the man can't accidentally detect!" George beamed. "And then ask the stupid arse question that's going to light the spark and fan the flames." Lee added matter-of-factly. A fluffy Christmas one shot featuring our favorite older Gryffindors. [god this is excellent: the obliviousness, the mutual pining, the matchmaking, having the older gryffindor kids around and having a good holiday time- it’s all excellent.] Soulmates: Kiss Me Not by DorthyAnn [21k,T] Sometimes a witch or wizard's magical signature is so completely incompatible with another that they repel one another like magnets. On the other hand, if two magical signatures mesh well together, well there are no stronger relationships in all the world. In a sample of a thousand people, the average witch or wizard will be slightly repelled by four or five people and strongly repelled by only one, at the most. The opposite is true for attraction. But Harry Potter can't kiss anyone at all. [this is actually such a fascinating take on the classic soulmates trope. there’s no predestined person for everyone and there’s no magical guarantee of anything, just magic being a little difficult and i adore that. also the writing style is excellent and the characterizations are spot on.] Accidental Bonding + Bed Sharing: Let's Take A Chance On Happiness by endless_grey [21k,E] Harry works with Luna at her magical antique shop, and everything is going pretty well until a mysterious ring makes an appearance. Cue curse-breaker Draco Malfoy and an accidental bond, and suddenly Harry is magically married to his former nemesis. They need to break the bond before Hermione's fundraiser, but Harry doesn't remember "fall in love with the git" being part of the plan. [i discovered this fic while looking for something else, but it’s so good. i love their dynamic and it’s shift as the story progresses and i love both of their friendships with luna just as much. it’s funny and a little angsty and well written and has two of my favorite tropes in it. what more can i say?]

1. Found family

Welp. Why am I surprised?

In addition to a ton of platonic relationships, there's also a bang-on hilarity in each one of these groups.

Six of Crows (the progression in Kaz and Wylan's dynamic??? Nina and Inej being besties??? Jesper and Inej having a running joke of scheming face lol??? Matthias forgoing his prejudices to team up with Jesper and Kuwei???)

The Hargreeves siblings??? (We're not gonna talk about what's going on between Luther and Allison 💀 but the rest of them 🥺🥺🥺)

2. Ballroom dance scenes

Oh, to be twirling across the dancefloor in the arms of your partner (bonus points if it's your enemy💖) and you can't decide if your heightened breathing is due to the music's tempo or the 🌟tension🌟

Whyyyyyyy did we have to stop balls!?!?!? Whyyyyyyyy???? Are you telling me that we lost the opportunity to wear our most artful dresses and have a night of elegant dancing and food and it was replaced by nightclubs??? T_T

3. The sunshine character actually has problems.

Love, love, love it when the sunshine, always joking, always kind character opens up about their own issues and insecurities yet they don't stop being kind and don't lose their heart just because the world is going to hell

Prime examples: Ron Weasley (au contraire, HP fandom, this guy has one of the best characterizations in the books and y'all just sleep on him because you want your special ones so much), Leo Valdez (my boy repaired a whole dragon alone, dealt with losing his mom, was homeless and yet keeps the atmosphere light and happy and makes hilarious jokes T_T), Inej Ghafa (horribly traumatized, has done things to survive in a brutal world, deserves the world, and yet is so, so, so fiercely kind and compassionate and always there for her friends💖)

4. When the tough, scary one is soft for kids or animals

Nothing is more wholesome than watching a stone-cold badass softening towards a kid or adopting a baby animal or just showing love for their family (Five Hargreeves 🥺). Shows that they still have a bit of their heart unguarded wnd hopeful.

5. Wholesome friendships that just stay friendships + siblings being siblings.

My ace ass hates love triangles with a fiery passion and it's really tiring to see every friendship being shipped left and right or being pushed into love triangle *side-eyes CC*

Lucie Herondale and Cordelia Carstairs are my favorite parabatai duo and I need more content of their friendship and antics pleaseee. I need more of them being a chaotic duo.

Alastair and Cordelia are my favorite brother sister duo, just with the way they address each other and how Cordelia thought about killing him during the demon attacks in ChoG.

Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood. The guy sailed across the Bermuda Triangle to rescue his best friend.

Also the potential we lost with Hermione and Ginny because R*wling couldn't write more than one PoV -_-

But on a happy note, Ron and Harry are my favorite and I love these dorks so much. They really become brothers by the end *gross sobbing*

Aru and her Pandava sisters and the two braincells they share🤦‍♀️😂

Once more, the Hargreeves family going from strangers to dumbass chaotic family in TUA s2😂🤦‍♀️

6. Enemies-to-lovers

Bonus points if they're also academic rivals. Why is this trope not used more? We could explore some great themes on the shit education system.

No one? Fine I'll write a fic myself.

Also, enemies to lovers =/= abusive relationships. Keep that trash away from me where the love interests are manipulative, abusive towards their love interests and then later fall in love with them. My favorite progression goes like this:

Ugh pretentious ass, look at them==>ugh why are we working together?==>why do we work so well as a team!?==>goddammit why are they so nice!?==>I guess we're friends now==>what is this tension!?!==>*notices something pretty about them* uh oh. 😳😳😳

Prime examples: Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Kallias and Alessandra from The Shadows Between Us. Jude and Cardan from TFOTA (I know they're toxic. Would not stan that relationship irl but I loved their development in the trilogy)

7. When the best friends go to an event as each other's date and are mutually pining over each other but are oblivious dumbasses.🤦‍♀️

Bonus points if other people mistake them for a couple and they can't even get out a proper explanation ;)

*whispers* Harry and Ron should've asked each other to the Yule Ball

8. More thoughtfully-written boys in YA

Please move on beyond the bad boy and broody, immortal, muscular warrior trope. Give representation to my PoC, neurodivergent, trans and fat boys. Give boys dark features (I promise they are as entrancing as blue eyes or blonde hair). Make them emotional, make them something other than stoic, make them like teenagers (and not adults playing teens). They deserve the world and well-written role models as much as girls do.

Prime example: Ron Weasley, Jesper, Wylan, Enrique and Hypnos from TGW, and Julian Blackthorn.

I could write essays for Ron but all I'll say is that r*wling did a good job by giving the role of emotional support (that's usually considered a feminine job) to a boy and made him funny and kind-hearted🥺

As for Julian, like I said before ruthless characters being soft for their family make me go T_T

9. Showing feminism with an equal society (as Tricia Levenseller does it), wholesome f/f and m/f friendships, normalizing the presence of LGBTQ people, without trashing men or femininity.

If you have to deliberately create a highly patriarchal society to show off your progressive views and badass female MC, then you're doing feminism wrong :)

5. Paint Me Up (You’re my favorite color) [HP; Sirry, the coke zero of sugar daddy aus]

It’s rare that I venture away from Tomarrymort, and I’ll probably never write or read Sirry again unless it’s a friend’s fic/prompt (I’m too in love with their canon relationship to engage with the ship on my own!!), but I’m still really happy with this fic!

Harry deserves to be a little bit mean sometimes tbh, and I love writing him that way.

4. A peculiar way of fitting together [HP; shenanigans ft. diadem!Tom]

This one is on the list because I love how I wrote the ensemble characters. Yeah, it’s technically hinting at Tomarry, but what I love most in this fic is everything about Harry’s interactions with the rest of Gryffindor house. I really need to write more ensemble fics tbh. They’re so fun, but it’s easy to forget all of these other characters I have access to when I’m writing a shipping fic.

3. Beat Your Fantasy [HP; Harrymort, fake dating]

I’m gonna be honest and say that I hate the fandom perception of Harry as an oblivious/useless idiot. It makes my blood boil just to read it most of the time, and it’s one of the main reasons I’ll back out of fics. Because he’s so smart!! He’s just also really dumb 😩And tbh Voldemort is right there in that idiot sandwich with him. So I hope you can understand the dilemma I faced when writing this fic kajsdfjl. Idiots-to-lovers is just too good to resist.

Anyway it was super fun to write and it still makes me smile, so I hope everyone who read it enjoyed it as well!

2. The Good Horcrux [HP; dark Harrymort]

When I first started posting fic for this ship, I was determined to stay firmly rooted in the realm of fluff, without even a hint of anything dark or upsetting. But there was always a part of me that wanted to write something like this fic. Oddly enough, I’ve seen two very different interpretations of the ending. Some people found it hopeful. At least one person read the end as Harry killing himself. Personally, I wrote it intending a hopeful ending, but I understand why someone wouldn’t read it that way.

1. sharing is caring [HP; Tomarry]

This one came to me in a dream. I mean. Not really, but it felt like it wrote itself once I started with how quickly it was finished. It was the first fic since my Star Wars AU to come so quickly and so easily to me. Also I still love their dynamic here. It’s pretty much everything I like about Tomarry distilled into a short, simple fic.

I love writing for this ship so much, and all of you lovely people in the fandom make it even better! So thank you, and I hope you enjoyed my fics this year. I’ll be posting more soon!!

Gossip Witch AU (HP AU) Characters: Tara Lee (OC), Mark Word count: 1,2k Genre: fluff, a lot of fluff

“Once upon a time Mark enjoyed silence.”

Once upon a time there weren’t many things Mark enjoyed as much as lying down beneath the leafy London plane in the backyard of Fawley Manor —that, Tara recounted, had been there since her great grandfather’s days— to hungrily devour the classics. From Shakespeare to Tolkien, and —occasionally— some of his brother’s comic book recommendations, Mark would spend way too many hours reading piles and piles of books that he would later swap with Tara in a carefully planned dynamic that they had established on Tara’s fourth birthday.

Oftentimes, as part of their childhood exploits, Tara and Mark would also sneak into her family’s immense library to pick one or two books children of their age were not supposed to read. The silence —or lack thereof— was usually an indication of how safe it was to walk into the manor and not get caught by Mr. and Mrs. Fawley —Tara’s very strict and purist grandparents.

During the summer of 2014 Mark also enjoyed the silence that came along with an empty house. Free from his brother’s questionable music choices and the piano notes floating from inside his mother’s music room, —where she would spend hours training a long list of now successful and accomplished musicians; himself included—, Mark and Tara shared their first kisses. At age 13, they were nothing but sweet explorations that left their hearts racing and cheeks tainted pink with shyness and embarrassment.

Half his lifetime ago, Mark really enjoyed silence. But long past were those days.

It’s probably one of those things people outgrow with time.

Or probably Mark has just grown accustomed to the chaos, racket, and turmoil that comes with touring and spending most of his time with another 8 men. It’s probably Doyoung and Taeyong playing cat and mouse during their scheduled morning fights, or maybe Donghyuck’s unmistakable voice calling after Taeil as he chases him around the dorm. Perhaps it is Johnny’s hearty laughter or the pretentious music playing from Jaehyun’s room loudly. Or simply the crowds of fans chanting his name.

Maybe the moments of pleasant quietness are just too scarce to be enjoyed.

Nowadays Mark associates every silent moment with disapproval and uncertainty; trouble and awkwardness.

Mark still recalls with bitterness the silence he encountered on his first public appearance after his relationship reveal. He also thinks of the uncomfortable lack of conversation accompanying arguments he was not even a part of, and of course the one time Tara chose silence over three words that would’ve saved them the unnecessary pain of a breakup. It also comes to mind the silence before Taeyong breaks unwanted news to the group.

Maybe that’s why he’s so wary of it.

Yet It is amid silence that he lets out an exasperated sigh, closing the book he’s been attempting to read with a loud snap.

Unlike his childhood days, there aren’t many books he’s eager to peruse or enough time for Mark to even take pleasure on the activity. Especially not during those rare free days when he can spend time with his girlfriend —fiancée, he doesn’t seem to get used to this new word yet.

But judging by the way Tara stares at her computer while mouthing some words silently, she doesn’t seem worried about spending time with him at all.

Mark has been sighing and making all sorts of noises for what seems to be hours to him, but trying to get Tara’s attention is nearly impossible when she’s this engrossed in her own world —or literary universe, better said—. Mark tries clearing his throat loudly next.

And there’s still no response.

“T” Mark whines as he throws the book mindlessly on the empty spot beside him. Tara doesn’t even blink “Tara!” he slightly raises his voice hoping he’ll finally get a reaction from his girlfriend. Any sign that she is not purposely ignoring him would suffice, even a simple look.

Yet, Tara only groans and without letting her eyes deviate from the screen of the computer, she mutters a curt “What?” that almost feels like a slap across the face.

Though Mark is usually a humble man, he hates to admit —even if it is to himself—, that he’s not used to or enjoys being ignored so blatantly. He could blame fame, but honestly, he’s always been a people’s favorite and as pretentious as it sounds, Mark simply doesn’t walk into a room without getting a fair share of attention.

“You’re ignoring me,!” he complains with a pout that Tara can’t see because she has not moved an inch.

“I am not” she replies simply, her voice barely audible.

“You are” Mark insists, the pout growing more pronounced.

“I am not”

“Tara, please you haven’t talked to me since I got here, is this some sort of punishment because I didn’t tell you I was coming? I just wanted to surprise you” Mark says, his voice so impatient it gives away how frustrated he feels. “Or is this because of that stupid Gossip Witch Spotted? I swear to God I just ran into Mindy casually, I was with Doyoung, they cropped the picture. Please, T, you have to believe-“ Mark adds in such a pleading, hopeless tone that Tara finally snaps out of the self absorption and slowly turns her chair to face her fiancé.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about, but now you’ve got my attention,” she says with a raised brow and it is evident she is struggling to keep a straight face.

“It was nothing, Doyoung and I went to get coffee, we were paying at the cashier when Mindy walked in. She said hello, I said hello and that was it, no conversation, nothing, just two people bumping into each other randomly” Mark states seriously. “T, we’re engaged, we’re getting married and I would never-“

“I know you would never” Tara interrupts, a shadow of a smile making its way onto her lips. It is the classic Tara smile: warm, knowing, and just a touch mischievous, teasing almost. “I wasn’t ignoring you” she says turning serious and pointing at the screen of her computer “I just finished the last chapter of my book” Tara explains beaming. Mark lets out a long, relieved exhale and allows his eyes to rest on Tara’s face. “I wanted to proofread before sending it to my editor, but you know, I guess as excited as I am, that can wait. I barely slept last night, so I could use some cuddles, some food and maybe my super needy and cute boy- fiancé…“Tara corrects herself “wants to update me about the latest blasts on Gossip Witch” Tara adds the last part smirking. “I didn’t know you were a fan. Oh, no, wait, you’re becoming one of those narcissistic celebrities that search their names on Google and have the notifs on for news about them, now that’s-“

Mark doesn’t let Tara continue because he skillfully picks her up, spinning her around before laying her on the velvet sofa where he was sitting just seconds ago and starts tickling her sides. Tara laughs and screams for him to stop, trying to defend herself with her knees, but Mark continues because there’s nothing he loves as much as to hear Tara laugh genuinely, freely, with nothing holding her back.

It’s the kind of thing he will never outgrow and one of the many reasons silence is not enjoyable anymore.

god quality wise, i think either carry on fic or my witch fic are my best. carry on fic bc it’s the most recent, so ofc it’s gonna be the best bc writing gets better AS you write, so new stuff is always gonna be better than old stuff. i love my witch fic, i got some really nice comments on it and i think it’s one of my best, but also my fake dating fic has a special place in my heart, it’s rlly the only one that i reread

61 (if you filter out podfic and filk it’s only 17 that’s wild)

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

102,700

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

It looks like over 40 but this is highly inflated due to podficcing collabs where my name is on things I didn’t actually do.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

A Wedding of Errors - Teen Wolf Allison/Lydia Wedding Planner AU. First thing I finished that was a longer length (it’s just under 20k) and still probably the most romance of everything.

Not a Rebound - Supergirl Winn/James smut. First E fic I wrote I think. I just thought it was a great ship that needed more written about them. (and mechad brooks is very hot and i wanted to write about his abs)

No Time Like the Present - Young Justice Bart/Jaime. Bart gets traumatized by Blue Beetle Jaime but it’s okay because Jaime is great. I guess you could call it hurt/comfort? but that’s not what I tagged it with.

Handle With Care - HP Remus/Sirius hurt/comfort. I think this was my first podtogether! I just recorded it, all the love goes to the author!

Uninvited - Elementary gen fic. Co-wrote with a British author but I wrote Sherlock and she wrote Joan lol. Also two podficcers! Has ONE less kudos than handle with care.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Garder le Silence - I don’t love the name but I couldn’t think of anything better at the time. HP gen fic of a PotterWatch broadcast. It announces the death of several people killed by death eaters and then everyone just sits there like oh shit...

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I don’t know how to quantify the MOST HAPPY but maybe I Love You Too . It’s Teen Wolf, Jackson Character Study. It’s just several scenes of him telling people he loves them and ends with him and his adopted daughter.

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

No I usually prefer an AU to a crossover.

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I didn’t for the longest time and now I still mostly don’t, but I wrote 2 fics of Winn Schott Jr getting dommed and I’m working on another. Smut isn’t usually what I think of as a fic prompt but he’s just so fuckable 😔

9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Sometimes I do but mostly don’t. It just doesn’t occur to me unless it’s a particularly long comment. From my formative fandom experience, people’s comment threads were usually for conversations so I only think about replying when I have more to add on.

10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not that I remember but someone did comment on one of my Winn smut fics with “I shouldn’t like this but I do” which feels like a back handed compliment? but i still appreciate it lol

Not that I’m aware of but I haven’t checked

Yeah! A Wedding of Errors is available in Russian :)

Probably the fic based on the fake book series I got obsessed with for a hot sec.

I have great grammar and sentence structure. I think the things I write are very readable in that they flow together.

What are character voices?? What are transitions? How do you visual description?

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t even know how to ask where the restroom is in other languages unfortunately. I like reading it in fic where it makes sense but I don’t think I would be comfortable doing it unless there was a really good reason and I had a beta who knew that language well.

Hey Arnold when I was like 10 and it was terrible, like even at the time I knew it wasn’t good

I’ve always tried muses that I think I can play. I don’t think there’s ever been one I’ve really wanted to play before. If I feel like I can give the muse justice then I’ll usually try at least once or twice and if it goes well then I’ll continue, if not then I scrap them.

♣️: Is there an RP partner(s) that you credit for becoming a better writer?

I give every one of my rp partners credit! From when I first started to now! Everyone I have had a positive experience (or not so) and it’s helped me grow as a writer. I might look at how someone writes a dialogue and go “hmm I like that” and I may sample it or tweak it to make it work with me and end up loving it. I couldn’t give just one partner all the credit when every one has had a positive impact on me!

Ha! I have too many to count with my ocs! But to name a few: (these are also ships from a different rp site as well)

Jatp: CeCe/Reggie (but I do like CeCe/Luke as well), Brynn/Luke, of course Julie/Luke

Marvel: Dillon/Steve, Dillon/Bucky, Dillon/Peter (in an aged down verse)

Descendants: Fae/Carlos, Mayebelle/Gil, Lillie/Jay, Melody/Jay

Those are just a few that I’ve had interaction with and have always loved when I had them.

♦️: What’s an AU that you’ve always wanted?

There’s not really one that I’ve always wanted. I like certain AU (or verses? Those get so mixed up for me) but I do like AUs.

🌙: Do you like writing angst? Why or why not?

Have you met my characters? Most, if not all, go through some type of angst in their lives. I put them through hell and idk why. I don’t know how to explain why I like writing it. I guess cause I like the fluff that happens after or something but my muses go through angst at least one part of their lives. Now whether that’s current or past, or if they’ve grown from it or not, that’s the question that I keep growing.

🙂: What’s a character that you desperately want your muse to play with? Why?

I’m a big shipper sometimes with certain ocs, so if I ship a certain oc with a certain character then I usually desperately want that character. I’ve gotten better at this and try to focus on familial threads of friend threads and such. There’s no certain character. It’s a menagerie.

📞: Other than RPing, what’s a hobby of yours?

Art. When I get the urge to paint, then I love to paint. I love creating different things. So for example; for Christmas I decided to make my coworkers and a few others blankets as presents instead of buying something. And then I’m also trying to paint a few canvases to add JatP lyrics to them.

I am also a movie enthusiast (I guess you can call me that) for certain fandoms so I’ll rewatch movies or shows a lot to pinpoint different details I didn’t catch or like to decipher certain aspects of the movies with friends (I got my best friend and her boyfriend to watch JatP and the entire time we deciphered the costuming, and different aspects)

💞: Has something ever happened to you to hate a ship? Why?

Anything that is taken so far out of context is when I hate ships, or something that doesn’t make sense. I think this is more a fandom thing for me than it is rp wise.

So like Destiel, Dean/Castiel from Supernatural. I’ll admit that is an interesting dynamic. It’s not one I can get behind but I understand and I like reading fanfiction and rps something. But the fans who take Destiel too far and force the actors to like it and such, is why I don’t really like Destiel.

Wincest: Don’t get me started on Wincest!! Just no! Now I have watched fan made videos that I liked the storyline but I just....no....

Another one I can’t stand it Drarry, Draco/Harry from HP. Again; I completely understand the story and what’s behind it but that’s been another that has been pressed and pushed too much.

Now Juke....okay Juke.... I love Juke! Julie and like are such a cute couple and I love their dynamic! But these “fans” who try to force Madison and Charlie to date because they want Juke to be real. Like just stop!

🙃: Who has been your favorite muse to play so far? Why?

Any of my character that are more of the goodie two shows I usually love to play.

But I love playing Dillon, Melody, and all of my characters that are built with a little spice. I can relate to them more because I am quiet but I’m sarcastic.

But I love all my characters fully! And love playing them! I wouldn’t have them if I didn’t!

Story you were nervous to post: i was pretty nervous about my first ever smut fic, and she said use your hands in my spare time, just because i’d never written smut before and i wasn’t sure if people were gonna enjoy it, and also about my first two fics into other fandoms ( of coffee. of leather. of kisses. for skam italia and the lonliest lord in westeros for GoT) just because i’d never gone outside the 100 before.

How do you choose your titles: Mostly song lyrics, i actually hate choosing a title. lately i’ve been trying to find other sources but im not having much luck.

Do you outline: it depends there are some fics that i think of an outline and ill write it down so i can refer back when i get around to writing it (if i get around to it), and then there are some that just pour of out me like word vomit in which i absolutely do not outline.

Complete number of stories: 67.... which is BONKERS.

In progress: I had a ton of WIP that got lost with my old computer when my dog spilled an entire glass of water on it. I have an unfinished becho soulmate fic, a becho mythology AU thats brewing, and i’ve compiled some prompts while going through our Chopped tropes to get them ready for Chopped: Choose Your Own Adventure, none of which have really hit the mark yet but are absolutel gonna be picked at in the future for fun.

Do you accept prompts: i tried it for a while but its not for me, if im not inspired 100%, then the fic will never come.

Upcoming Story you are most excited about: some chopped stuff is gonna start brewing on Feb 1, and im gonna pick around with this mythology fic and see where it goes. Also kind of planning to start a James x Lily (HP) fic where they have daemons. i had started writing it on my old computer but i hadn’t gotten very far, and i have the daemons i’ve chosen saved somewhere else... we shall see.

Linds wrote a little cute thing, and i have to second. i cant believe that i can write weird little stories about characters i love, and get so many people reading and interacting with me about my writing. i love creative writing, but in middle school some unkind comments from a teacher pushed me away from it. Fic writing has been a true gift, its given me a place to really enjoy writing just for me, and has helped boost my confidence in my writing in so many ways. It’s also given me a chance to build a little bubble of my own in this fandom, with @thelittlefanpire, through Chopped, which has built a lovely community of writers that I adore. I appreciate each and every person who ever reads my fics, and I love you all.

Vivy’s Harry Potter Fic Recs

I’ve had a load of people ask me for my favourite tomarry fics, so I thought I’d compile a fic rec! This will probably be updated as I think of things. However, I have a lot of favourite fics which aren’t Tomarry, so I thought I’d add a few other pairings as well. I think I’ll put up a few recs of other fandoms as well when I get ‘round to it, like Hannibal or the Hobbit (I have weird reading habits okay?) It’ll help me find them too xD.

Tom Riddle or Voldemort/Harry Potter

Consuming Shadows by Child_OTKW (WIP)

On the night of the attack, Lily managed to escape with her infant son, but at the cost of her husband’s life. Distraught and distrusting of her friends, she fled to France with Harry, to raise him away from the corruption in Britain and the rising influence of the Dark Lord. She trains him to the best of her abilities, shaping him into a dangerous, intelligent and powerful wizard.

But when Britain re-establishes the Triwizard Tournament, and Harry is forced to return to his once-home, he finds himself questioning whether he really wants to kill the Dark Lord. Voldemort finds an unexpected challenge in the child, and as his intrigue and amusement grows, so too does the desire to possess the spark in those defiant green eyes.

I feel this is genuinely one of the best Tomarry fanfics maybe ever written, and I’m sure you’ve probably read it since it’s so popular - but I thought I’d recommend it anyway! It’s not finished, but there’s enough of it to really sink your teeth into and action is properly going down right now. Harry is such an interesting character and his cat and mouse dynamic with Voldemort is so entertaining. I anxiously wait for every update!

Set the Sails (and don’t look back) by Terrific Lunacy (Complete)

1724. All Harry wanted to do was to cross the Atlantic and start his apprenticeship under one of the most renowned physicians. Tom Riddle is convinced everything floating in the seven seas belongs to him. That includes ship-wrecked, green-eyed youths. Especially if they tell him to fuck off.

This is a fic that’s really stuck with me. It’s complete (a miracle in the tomarry fandom) and there’s a fun back-and-forth between Voldemort and Harry. Our goodhearted Harry is a doctor! And for some reason, I’ve been really into Pirate AUs recently.

A Thousand Paths Among The Stars by haplesshippo (Complete)

Harry Potter, newly appointed Captain of the Marauder and son of the famous Captain James Potter, was falling apart at the seams. His crew didn’t respect him, he was lost in the empty expanse of space, nightmares plagued his sleep, and his Commander deserved the Captain position more than he did. Good thing multiple attempts on his life and a vicious warlord after his head was all it took to turn it all around.

Alternatively, that space fic in which Harry Potter almost dies too many times, Tom Riddle slowly becomes the most smitten fool on the ship, and the rest of the crew are all just a bunch of assholes with popcorn watching the show. And exploding ships, don't forget the exploding ships.

Another pirate AU, kind of! But this one is in space! And it’s actually more of a Star Trek AU. Okay, it’s not really a pirate AU but I wanted to keep the theme going. This is such a freaking good fic- the relationship between Tom and Harry is very unusual (not as combative as the last two fics) and there are some nice twists, as well as combination of HP lore and what I assume is Star Trek (I’ve never seen it okay). And the extended cast is excellent. I fully recommend!

The Dragon's Mate by Strange_Soulmates (Complete fics but WIP series)

Harry Potter has recently escaped from his dragon-guarded tower. So has his fellow prisoner - the dragon who was enchanted to guard him. Harry's friend is missing, however, and so he sets off to assure himself of his well-being before he finds the person responsible for imprisoning them both. Accompanied by a stranger with a familiar name, Harry finds himself with more questions than answers as he slowly learns about the customs of dragons and the history of the dragon he befriended, the fearsome Voldemort.

I really love pretty much all of Strange_Soulmates’ fics, but this is definitely my favourite (and maybe the only complete one? Don’t quote me on that.) The characters are so well done, and although I love the first fic a little more than the second, they are both excellent reads! Dragons and wizards? Yes, please!

Everything's Fine in the Beast Division by Merrinpippy (Complete)

Harry's lifelong ambition is to become an auror, but as his knowledge of Dangerous Beasts is somewhat lacking, Newt Scamander agrees to take him on as an apprentice. Contrary to the Weasley twins' predictions that Harry would die of boredom, Harry finds his time at the Ministry very interesting, and befriending the very attractive Tom Riddle doesn't hurt at all- in fact, quite the opposite.

This is such a fantastic fanfiction, and a crossover with Fantastic Beasts (a franchise I can’t stand but that’s a conversation for another time). It manages to be fluffy without going OOC which is difficult for tomarry fics, and the supporting cast are adorable!

To Be Set Free by Merrinpippy

Harry Potter, raised and abused by the Dursleys ever since his parents died, lives in the cupboard under the stairs. He has no friends or family who love him and his life is dull until one day a letter arrives arrives for him, written in green ink, that promises freedom. Sounds familiar, right?

King Thomas Riddle's illness combined with his political paranoia pushes him to arrange three royal balls, after which his son, Prince Tom Riddle, must choose a guest to marry, thereby securing the kingdom's future and solidifying their strength in the eyes of their allies/enemies. Tom is convinced that he will be able to defy his father and choose no-one, or at least he is until at the first ball he meets an attractive stranger with dark hair and glasses who won't tell anyone his name...

This is also excellent, and I love a good Fairytale AU. Merrinpippy has some really good stuff. I love all of it!

As Clichéd as Clichés Go by thecrimsonmonarch (One-shot)

Harry Potter wasn't known for his social skills, mainly because they were practically non-existent.

This is a bit random but very fun. Harry is a fucking dork. That’s all there is to say. A thoroughly amusing Lawyer AU.

Lily and the Art of Being Sisyphus by The Carnivorous Muffin (WIP)

As the unwitting personification of Death, reality exists to Lily through the veil of a backstage curtain, a transient stage show performed by actors who take their roles only too seriously. But as the Girl-Who-Lived, Lily's role to play is the most important of all, and come hell or high water play it she will, regardless of how awful Wizard Lenin seems to think she is at her job.

This is a still-uploading fanfic and one of my faves. It’s not for everyone- it’s a fem!Harry and she’s so different that she’s really an OC to be honest, and the story is slightly complicated. This is certainly not a fic to go for if you want IC characters. But I really love the writing and the ideas and it’s basically a new, fascinating universe. And even if they’re not IC, I love the characters all dearly. The Carnivorous Muffin is certainly an extremely talented writer- all of her stuff is excellent.

Little Bits by lordmarvoloriddle

Inspired by Cinderella. Only there's no prince and surely no one is singing about their feelings and Harry's life could be a lot worse than having three step-brothers and a father who didn't liked him. He's going to be proven right.

This is such a bloody creepy fic and so so good. The ending is a complete twist and you should definitely read it!

Drarry

Draw a Line from Your Heart to Mine by CreateImagineWrite (Complete)

Being Harry Potter's best friend isn't always fame and beating off raving fans. It's also the anxiety of hearing your best mate's been cursed by another Dark Lord, or love potioned by some crazy woman. Or having his boyfriend you knew nothing about turn up on the Burrow's doorstep.

This is a bit of a random inclusion, but I was just reading this and it is SO GOOD. Perhaps a bit cliched in places, but Ron Weasley’s inner monologue makes up for it.

Turn by Saras_Girl

One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.

This is an also an excellent fic that I read bloody ages ago and has apparently stuck with me. There’s this whole Harry going into an alternate dimension where he’s married to Draco Malfoy plot, but the really beautiful thing is Harry exploring his dissatisfaction with his life- through carpentry! I know it sounds like a crack fic, but it’s not- it’s a gorgeously written fic.

Away Childish Things by lettered

Harry gets de-aged. Malfoy has to help him.

This does the ‘Harry was abused’ revelation so well and really interestingly explores both Harry and Draco’s childhood. The overarching plot is also excellently done, which can’t always be said for character-focused fics!

Jily

#Jily by Chie (Chierafied) (One-shot)

Twitter seemed awash with the hashtag Jily. Lily blinked at in confusion, until she realised it was one of those silly couple monikers people had bestowed on her and Potter. …Though there was a small dissenting crowd following a tweet from Potter’s bandmate Sirius Black: Jily? Hah! More like LAMES.

This is such a fucking cute one-shot. I love social media AUs (if you find any, send them my way), so I loved this!

The Rise and Fall of the Extraordinary Jilysanschilly: Including Excerpts of their Best Collected Works by elanev91 (One-shot)

James Potter and Lily Evans are both wildly successful YouTubers and Sirius cannot believe that people ship them enough to write erotic fanfiction about them.

You might be picking up on my love of modern Jily AUs. This is so cute, Sirius is weirdly IC as he gets caught up in a smut addiction and James and Lily don’t hate each other from the beginning so that’s fun. A very sweet YouTuber AU.

Hit the Like Button by elixirsoflife (One-shot)

YouTube star James Potter is living it up at uni: filming videos, getting drunk and professing his love for aspiring singer Lily Evans to anyone who'll listen.

It’s another modern AU, but this time, Lily is a famous singer! This was fucking adorable, enough said.

The White Album by cgner (Complete)

James poses as an advice charm in Lily's diary. He's really got to start thinking through his shenanigans.

This is the strangest mix of angst and fluff that I’ve ever read, but it really, really works. It’s also kind of a crossover, as it’s written by the co-author of:

Haggis from Algernon by Rude Gus (Complete)

The fic about nothing.

Everything written by both Rude Gus and cgner is brilliant (not a surprise as they’re almost the same person), but Haggis really is a classic. And check out their Bachelor AU fic! It’s surprisingly brilliant.

Gen and Misc

Kid by Anonymous (Completed)

A Potion's "accident" turns Harry into an eight year old. Draco Malfoy begins planning his kidnapping/conversion to the Dark Side. But Harry's a passive-aggressive, revenge-obsessed little bastard. Maybe Draco will wait on that whole Dark Lord thing…

Such a cute fic! A really nice character study of Draco and cute kid Harry is always a bonus. I’m not usually a Draco Malfoy fan, but this is a great fic.

Harveste by kyaru-chan (Complete fics but WIP series - probs abandoned)

He's done it. He's just five years old, but he's finally done it. The Dursleys are gone. And now he's with a new family who seems just as twisted as he is. How strange.

This is a really weird fic series. It’s actually an Addams family AU? Harry kills the Dursleys and gets adopted by the Addams family, and then there’s a separate fic for each HP book up to Half-Blood Prince, where I think they stopped. It definitely still worth a read though. Harry is certainly not IC but it’s a fascinating combination of the two universes with all the quirky Addams family humour. It’s certainly a bit of a crack fic to read when you’re down.

Sarcasm and Slytherin by sunmoonandstars (Complete stories but WIP series)

After ten years of misery with the Dursleys, Harry Potter learns that he has magic. Except, in this story, it's not a surprise-the only surprise is that there are others like him. Including his twin brother, Julian Potter, the savior of the Wizarding world.

This isn't the Harry you think you know.

This is WBWL kind of story (although we don’t know if Harry actually is the BWL yet. Harry is a really interesting character and his relationship with his family- especially Jules - is very well developed and nuanced. Harry’s friendships and the authors interpretation of Slytherin house is also a new twist on old tropes- it feels very fresh! I’m eagerly waiting for updates!

So there it is. Just some of my HP faves. I’m considering doing one for Hannibal, Yuri on Ice, The Hobbit, Labyrinth (my tastes are so weird) etc, so let me know if you’re interested!

2. Favorite Genre Of Fic?

Hurt/comfort, all the way. Basically, everything that @pepperish's Meet Me In The Afterglow represents. I love seeing those two love each other at their most broken and help each other heal.

(shit, i just realized you didn't say 2 but whoomp there it is + you and Jess loving each other's fics as much as i love them is my dream.)

7. One-shots Or Longfic?

Both! But longfic only if it's completed except in rare cases, as my heart can't take knowing that I have to wait or risk that fic never being updated. I've been in the Jily fandom, TLAT gave me trust issues.

And one-shots as a writer. I don't trust myself to stay interested in one idea long enough to complete a longfic. I love writing one-shots packed with emotion and action.

12. What Turns You Away The Most From A Fic?

In addition to premises that I don't feel I'll enjoy reading and fics that haven't been updated in 5 years, I haven't been able to read fics or lit that has a lot of scenery descriptions (like, 500 words of static descriptions). I love me some dynamics!

16. How Do You Feel About Character Death in Fic?

I wanna say I hate it but if it's done well and I want the writer to straight up rip my heart out of my chest, then bring 👏 it 👏 the 👏 fuck 👏 on!

Like, if you did that, I'd know you did it with a purpose. I'd trust you with that.

As a writer, I would not dare.

21. How And When Did You Get Introduced To Smut Fic? Any Horror Stories?

When I was still in the HP fandom! Like, early teens? It was still called lemon back then, and I read a fic about Harry and Ginny getting it on. It was the hottest thing I'd read up to the point. In retrospect, it was hella vanilla. And no horror stories!

26. Any Kinks That You Don’t Want To Try In Real Life (But Are Still Hot In A Fanfic)?

Choking, for starters. I know I wrote a fic about it the other day, but I'm just not into it personally. And daddy kink. So piping hot in fic but in RL? Nah.

33. Least Favorite Au Tropes?

Hmm... I can read anything. However, I don't really like writing canon aus (says she, having finished a 10k grounder au).

44. How Fluffy Is Too Fluffy?

Fanfic trope meme

Apologies to those of you who see this for a third time, as I’ve crossposted it to both LJ and Pillowfort. Feel free to comment over on there (or my other posts) if you like. And of course, feel free to grab this one and do it yourself, if you like.

Grabbed this meme from a couple of people on LJ. It's... well, apparently about fanfic tropes. Some of them more terrifying than others.

I have written:

-Hurt/comfort (Yeah, baby! Most of my fic is this.)

-Body swapping (Sort of? Souls slipping into each other's bodies for a bit? Jaffar feeling what Yassamin feels? Sex swap, I've definitely done.)

-Soulmate identifying marks (tattoo, red thread of fate, etc) (I have! The Throne of Solomon. And maybe The Past Forgotten counts, in its way. I may have written more, but I forget.)

-Snowed-in cabin/isolated together for extended period of time (The Jaffar/Pwinzezz Cavefic!)

-Found families (I guess the Samarkand gang counts for poor old Fadl? Even if Jaffar *is* his brother, so technically it is his family. But he does have his religious congregation and Zainab, and is... well, he always does seem to be seeking something, so he's the kind of guy to go for this trope.)

-Fairy tale/mythology AU (And not just when I am writing in *actual* fairytale/mythology fandoms. Which I am doing most of the time, what with Thief of Bagdad being a 1001 Nights fanfic anyway. So I'm writing fanfic about a fanfic of some age-old RPF (fantasy AU!) about historical figures from the late 700s/early 800s...)

-Enemies to friends to lovers (Yes, please! Aplenty. I'm surprised that enemyslash/FoeYay/Hero(ine)/Villain(ess), whatever you want to call it, isn't mentioned on this list.)

-Characters swap roles AU (Uh... I've written sexual switching in some isolated chapters? Like when Laura briefly doms Torsten in The Fall of Angels, to help him get over some traumas?)

-Friends to lovers (With RPS, Veidtbone in particular, and Theta/Koschei. This also seems to happen whenever I write femslash.)

-Magical connection (telepathy, etc) (Doctor/Master basically ruined me for all my other ships what with their telepathic ability. So that now, it feels less interesting for me to write love/sex that *doesn't* have telepathy.)

-Fake dating/fake marriage accidentally turns into feelings (see next trope)

-Royals/political marriage turns into feelings (These last two are pretty much the same thing in ToB, as I've had Yassamin marry Jaffar a couple of times--like The Past Forgotten and The King's White Falcon, but without him laying a hand on her for up to a year, until she finally grows a brain and realises how loveworthy he is after all.)

-Seemingly unrequited pining (Emphasis on the "seemingly." Jaffar's unrequited pining is painful enough in the movie, so there's no point in making him suffer any more.)

-Accidentally fell in love with the mission target (Well, *kind of,* what with Torsten. Lars-Erik was definitely his mission target in the original film, and at the start of Because The World Belongs to the Devil, he made no bones about having wanted to kill Laura Erika [the teenage girl version of Lars-Erik in this AU, to those of you just joining in] when she was born.)

-They break up (but then they get back together) (With Jaffar/Fadl. Fadl's stormed off in a huff at least twice in the past. And Doctor/Master is always the same old on-off car crash, isn't it? Although this is not a favourite trope of mine, as the setup would usually necessitate them being an existing couple in the first place, and I tend to not write canon or "plausibly lovers" ships because they're already happily together. What do Two and Jamie, Holmes and Watson etc. need me for? They're already as good as married. Let them have their happiness.)

-Supernatural creature/human romance (Sort of. I've written Time Lords/humans, humans/djinn at least. And surely wizards count as supernatural romance, anyway?)

-Reincarnation/'25 Lives' AU (What's with the 25 lives? Is this some big fandom thing again? One of the darkest, most fucked-up fics I ever wrote was the Master killing the Doctor during sex and fucking him as he regenerated around him. As you do. And there's reincarnation in one of my Jaffar/Pwinzezz fics, but I won't spoil it for the new readers by telling you which one it is.)

-Selfcest (possibly due to time travel) (I am scratching my head trying to remember when I wrote this and in which fandom, but I have the distinct feeling I've written it. I've certainly whacked off to that World Of Simm!Masters clusterfuck what with the pink dress so many times I... I think I broke two clit buzzers during that time. I've certainly drawn it. And drawn some Connies on Connies. And then there's, of course, Sarosh the Sexbot who's a clone of Jaffar, looks-wise, but he is very distinctly just a robot, not a living character as such--not the sort with which you could have a real, interpersonal dynamic. My problem with selfcest, in general, is that I like having that character dynamic--and that requires the characters to be different from one another. If it's two characters that are too similar--if they fulfill a similar role in the canons--it's hard to create a dynamic between them and to make it interesting.)

-Polyamory (Swinging away ALL the bloody time with the Roses!Jaffar and Yassamin, and Torsten/Laura. Sometimes I miss the monogamous 'verses.)

-Amnesia (I've got a post-movie "Jaffar comes back from the dead" WIP I'll probs never finish, because it doesn't seem to get off the ground. If I wrote this trope, I would have the characters gradually regain memory, though; complete mind-wipes are horrid. I did have Handy lose the majority of his cognitive/motor/Timey skills in No More and that was the main reason I had to... well, I'm not going to spoil it if someone hasn't read it yet, but it wasn't the cheeriest of fics. The Past Forgotten *sort of* has this, but I don't want to spoil as to how that happens.)

-Daemons (Why the archaic spelling? I have written djinn, so I almost put this in the 'have written' section. I can't remember if I actually *have* written real demons, because I might have. Surely, Torsten counts...)

-'Everyone is evil'/mirrorverse AU (Well, mostly, if I want to explore "evil" characters, I write about those types of characters in the first place, without having to turn anyone evil. Devilry is the 'verse for that. Hell, usually it's the other way around; I try to look for the human elements of the baddies, or at least explore their logic--what makes them tick, what makes them the way they are. So, IDK, I could've also put this in the "unlikely to ever write" section.)

-And they were roommates! (This would be terrible and also hilarious, whatever characters ended up becoming my victims. Even if I'm more interested in those hurt/comfort plots, overall. And I have always found it *impossible* to live under the same roof with other people because I need peace and quiet and solitude too much. So this is almost a bit too much like the sorts of negative RL experiences I don't really want to get more of in fic. But I *could* write it as a comedy for cheap lols, especially if the stress were resolved by hot bonking, ASAP.)

-'They all work in an office' AU (Otherwise, I would've put this in the "just no" category, but... the Barmakids were civil servants. So I *could* write Jaffar and Fadl drowning in paperwork--"WHY DID WE EVER introduce paper into THIS EMPIRE?!?" and cursing their fates and Jaffar restraining Fadl from braining Harun al-Rashid with a paperweight. Same with Lina doing Zainab's books and trying to hold back The Fist of Death when Fadl carelessly drops a piece of his lunch over her perfectly calligraphied accounting.)

-'Falling for a coworker/teammate is a bad idea' except this is fiction so it works out (Maybe. Just maybe. But it'd also be in a medieval ToB context.)

I will probably never write:

-'Groundhog Day'/karmic time loop (I just never got the appeal of this. Sounds like the sort of thing experimental writers would like? The sorts who really like filling in bingo cards and challenge lists?)

-Vampires/werewolves AU (I'm not that big on either. Super-unpopular opinion coming up: I prefer sex to the sublimation of it that vampires are often all about; bloodsucking in lieu of sex, and/or being seen as way better than sex just always feel to me like a cheap cop-out from writers who are disappointed in sex, or afraid of it. I've never grokked it any more than that stupid, stupid "chocolate is better than sex" quip from women who don't know what masturbation is--yes, it fucking well is sex, TYVM! I much prefer to make partnered sex better than it is IRL by adding supernatural stuff like telepathy to *that*. Immortality alone is interesting to explore, as are Gothic themes, but all the usual themes that vampires *specifically* usually represent just... either hold little interest for me, or then, I can explore them in other ways.)

-'Pride and Prejudice' AU (I don't hate Jane Austen, but it's not my fandom. That kind of society stuff and being witty over teacups in bonnets has never really been my thing--if anything, I usually have my characters exist in their own bubble, isolated from society and its restrictive mores and social stresses.)

-Coffee house AU/food service AU (AUGH! Please, no coffeeshop AUs for me; the world is full of them already. Maybe I could write it as some terrible, short parody? Or doodle it? But no more than that.)

-Hogwarts AU (Haven't read HP. Young Adult isn't really my genre. I know, I know; I've just lost all my WLW cred.)

-High school/university AU (I've done Time Lord Academy-era stuff with Doctor/Master, but I expect this means a sort of American high school/university AU with jocks and cheerleaders and shit. Hell, no. Again, the exact sort of horrid society stuff I would rather have my characters escape from.)

-Adopting/raising a baby (Erm, not unless you count Jaffar/Yassamin adopting a cheetah? They do have kids in some 'verses but there's none of that everyday baby stuff that this question/trope probably implies. I'm squicked by babies, sorry.)

-Unusually specific occupation AU, like, the Author clearly has the same job (It worries me that this is, by virtue of its inclusion here, apparently seen as normal and acceptable..? When it's crap fanfic, inserting yourself into something that should be about the *established* characters instead. Jesus, I don't want to go in expecting a fanfic, and then find out it’s your diary instead! Unless you're Anaïs Nin. And even if you really *do* want to write about yourself, then just... write original fic? An autobiography? A blog? Write an OC that has your job. Don't do this false advertising where you insist it's fanfic when it's not. That's a dick move towards your readers.)

-Loyalty kink (see next trope)

-Alpha/beta/omega (Too creepy. I can write about piss, shit, incest, necrophilia and cannibalism, but not these last two. Any more than I can glorify the Nazis I've written about; I either take the piss out of them, as with Strasser, or just step outside of their politics and bring them into the land of happy sexings like with von Kolb, with the aim of dragging him out of that madness and leaving it behind.)

-Hot single parent(s) (Please. Rundvik: "You love children." Torsten: "I loooooathe themm.")

-Unrequited pining (Too much of an emotional squick. Has to be requited. I write fanfic to fix things, to avenge wrongs, to set things right. I don't write them to make the characters more miserable than they already are. Unless it's for temporary, character-development purposes, that is.)
