"Joel?"
Ellie shifts slightly so she can look up at him, cheek squished against his biceps. The movie is long over, but the best part of the night is dozing off pressed against Joel while he reads or whittles away at something. Sometimes he even reads out-loud, voice rhythmic and soft, lulling her to sleep. He glances down at her and lowers his book, arm coming up to wrap around her.
"Yeah, baby?"
She chews on her lip, trying to find the words in her tired mind, and Joel's thumb gently rubbing her shoulder is the opposite of helpful, her eyelids fluttering shut.
"What's Tommy, like, to me? He's your brother but I don't. I don't know where I fit."
Joel stays silent for a litlte bit, seemingly properly thinking about her question, and she curls up tighter against his chest, pressing her face into his shirt somewhere below his neck. She's tired enough to fall asleep like this even with the lights on, and she chose this moment exactly because of that, knowing that the fatigue will prevent her from freaking out too much; so far, it's doing its job.
"Tommy is whatever you want him to be, babygirl, there's no pressure."
"I know", she sighs, answer kind in his typical Joel-fashion, but useless.
"I just don't know what to call him, to other people, I mean."
Explaining her relationship with Joel to the other children and teachers at school was already a task, and while the latter didn't question her answers, she's given up on trying to convince her classmates that Joel isn't her actual dad. The spark for this conversation had been an encounter with one of the newer arrivals, whom Tommy had introduced her to as 'my brother's kid', which, sure, probably the easiest way of putting it. But-
"Someone called him my uncle, and he didn't correct them. I don't know if-"
"If he's okay with everyone calling him that?"
Ellie nods, glad that he understands what she is getting at, and he holds her a little tighter as he pulls her further into his lap. Joel presses a kiss to her temple, her forehead, then her hair before settling with his chin resting on the top of her head, his hands rubbing soft circles into her back.
"You're my kid," he says plainly, "which makes you a part of his family, and since he's my brother, yeah, I guess uncle is accurate. I don't think he minds."
"You sure?"
The last thing she wants to do is upset either of them, and she and Tommy have actually been getting along quite well, bullying Joel and doing all the things he doesn't want either of them to do - in short, making him go grey twice as fast as before.
"Very sure."
(He doesn't want to tell her just yet that Tommy has been calling himself her uncle since day one, introducing Ellie as his niece in turn.)
"Alright."
Ellie wraps her arms around his waist when Joel lowers them onto the couch, safely trapped between him and the backrest, and she holds on tight even while she drifts off, sleep coming easily and gently, closing their eyes with a gentle touch. He will carry her to bed later, enjoying the opportunity to simply feel her breathing and alive against him for now.
"G'night, Joel." (Saying it doesn't sound right, but she doesn't have to, they can both sense it. Her friends calling him that no longer sounds quite as wrong.)
"Sleep tight, baby." (They all know, and Tommy is intentionally driving the point home, but he doesn't need to tell her; she knows. They both do.)
That's my niece, Ellie.
Oh, she's my brother's daughter.
Joel is her dad, idiot.
Must run in the Miller family.
Family, they all know, is way more than just shared DNA. It's the people you trust, who will keep you safe.
It's everyone you come home to at the end of a long, long day.

The Battle of the Multiverse Part 2
Tumblr media
Summary: The battle comes to an end.
A/N: I don't know if I've mentioned this before but each chapter is like a scene. Oh if only I could make movies. Anyway, I hope you all like this ending. There was a lot of last minute changes and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you are on your knees, exhausted and entirely at the Scarlet Witch's mercy, you aren't. Your body is. But you aren't. Mentally you are home, tending to your garden with your wife. She catches you gazing at her and scrunches her nose at you. It's a small action but one that makes you fall for her once again. The more mischievous side of you takes over and raises the garden hose and spray at her once. Her mouth drops in a humorous shock. You start laughing and she starts laughing. Then she is chasing you around the garden until the two of you trip. Wanda lands on top of you and the two of you spare no time before kissing each other even as the automatic sprinklers come on.
That’s where you want to be right now.
You find some comfort in knowing she is safe at home for the moment. However, that peace is stripped away from you the moment you open your eyes. Wanda is not home. She's here, floating behind the Scarlet Witch with sharp pieces of rubble beside her with glowing red eyes. She strikes the Scarlet Witch with them and because every battle and absorption of power weakened her the sharp pieces were able to pierce through her skin.
Unfortunately, she was still strong enough to reroute a few of those pieces straight through her variant's heart. There was no time for you to process. Your reflexes fail you and your wife. “No!” You scream out as you watch life leave Wanda's eyes for the second time. In your weak state, you crawl to her body in tears. “You were supposed to go home,” you whisper to her body.
“It wouldn't have mattered,” the Scarlet Witch pulls out a shard of glass from the front of her hip. “She would have died there anyway. You couldn't save her by sending her home. You were bound to lose to me.” She yanks out a sharp piece of wood from her thigh next.
“I could have won,” you say brokenly.
The Scarlet Witch shrugs as she twiddles with the bloody piece, “I’m not convinced that you wanted it enough. Maybe if she told you, then I could see you having a shot of walking out of here.”
You scoff, “What are you talking about?”
“Well, you see, I have more motivation to win because I actually got to meet my boys. I got to hold them and raise them alongside the most amazing person. You didn't even know she was pregnant. Not really smart on her part if you ask me,” before you can react to the shocking information the Scarlet Witch stabs you in the back with the wood she was playing with. “Might have given you the extra strength you needed. But it's far too late for that now.”
“No,” you grit through your teeth. You focus all of your energy to do the opposite of what you were made to do. Screaming at the top of your lungs, you turn the life saving energy into something so deadly she cannot combat against it. Once her form is reduced to an orb of energy you take that and instead of absorbing any of it, you return it all to the rightful homes. It's a strong spell that requires powers from all of the stones in your body and once every energy has disappeared from your hands you drop to your knees beside Wanda.
You lay your hand over her belly and with this final effort, you transfer all of your power to save her and the boys. It takes everything from you until there is nothing left but the ring you wore to signify your devotion to your wife lying on her chest.
Epilogue
Slowly rocking herself on the porch swing, Wanda gazes out into the backyard as her boys, Billy and Tommy, run around with their uncle Pietro. She smiles as she hears them giggle and squeal here and there. Something she almost missed out on and cherishes every second of. They love their visits with their uncle. He tries to come out here as often as he can to be with them. Has been doing this since the day they were born. Usually he has his daughter with him, who loves her cousins and enjoys spending time with them, but she had a very important sleepover to attend for her social standing. So, he came alone.
Pietro catches one of the boys and he uses magic to get away. Impressing the man. Triggering something in his mother. The boy is using your old sling ring. She hadn't known that they knew where it was, let alone know how to use it. That was something far too dangerous for them to have in their possession without the proper training. Wanda gets up to go take it from them but a hand on her shoulder stops her.
“It’s okay,” the voice soothes her, “I’ve got it.” You walk out into the garden with a stern look. “Billy, what did I say about playing with my things,” you admonish the little boy.
Wanda relaxes into her seat as she lets you handle the problem. It took her years to figure out how to bring you back. All she had left of you was your ring. Whereas when you brought her back to life, her entire body was in your arms. She thought it would be impossible until one day, it worked. You were returned to her. The boys were still young enough for you to return without having to explain too much to them. Though, the two of you agreed that one day you would.
Jean kept in touch with Wanda as the only two who survived the mission. That was, until Wanda revealed to Jean about getting you back. The woman put in a request to bring everyone else back but Wanda refused. She didn't want to risk the balance of life. Jean didn't understand how bringing back good people from the dead would negatively affect the multiverse. She didn't know what it took to bring someone back completely and the witch wasn't going to expose those details. She wasn't about to put a target on her back. Which ultimately put a strain on the relationship. Effectively ending the friendship between the two. Wanda was fine losing that friendship because she didn't need the Phoenix. She needed you. Her boys needed you.
It took you some time to adjust to life again. You still possess some powers but not like you did before. Wanda tried to transfer the powers back to you but you refused. Claimed she deserved them more. She was reluctant at first, but eventually accepted that you no longer wanted them.
“Looks like we're going to have to get better at hiding the dangerous things,” you say as you climb the steps and wave the sling ring at Wanda.
She smiles and takes the device from you when you join her side. “I think I might have a place for it,” she replies.
“Oh? Should I be concerned,” you say jokingly. It widens her smile as she denies it. You repeat her words and she confirms it again and again until you meet her lips with yours. “Alright boys!” You call out once you separate from her. All three males turn their heads towards the house. “Time for dinner, go clean up! Especially you, Pietro,” the man rolls his eyes at your comment but all three come running towards the house. You stand up but Wanda doesn't. “You coming?”
“In a minute,” she says, “I want to enjoy the sunset.”
“Okay,” you lean down and kiss her forehead. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” she shoos you inside the home and you laugh as you do as she says. Once you're out of sight, Wanda gets up. She walks across the yard to the shed she has banned everyone from. With a wave of her hand, she uncovers a door that reveals a long staircase once opened. Descending the stairs, she walks into her secret lair.
What you hadn't known when you released all of the energy from the orb was that the Scarlet Witch energy needed somewhere to go. It quickly found its home in Wanda’s body. Once she returned to this universe, the Darkhold called to her day and night until she was reunited with it. She fought so hard against it, knowing the destruction it is bound to cause. But it gave her you and she hopes that by having you and her boys she will avoid becoming as corrupted as her variant. She hopes.
But that is a problem for a later date. Wanda sets the sling ring on a shelf and ignores the floating Darkhold as she passes it on her way back.
Walking into her home she witnesses the sight of her happy family and she knows she made the right decisions that led to this. You wave her over and she quickly joins the table.
After dinner, Pietro leaves and the boys get tucked into bed by you and Wanda. They tell their parents that they love them before they leave, filling the couples hearts with gratitude. The two of you make your way to your bedroom and once you're settled into each other's arms you ask her if she believes there will be another Scarlet Witch threatening to take away everything they have again.
“No, I don't think we have to worry about that,” she assures you.
“How can you be certain?”
She gives you a look, “When are you ever going to accept that once I said 'I do' I instantly gained the ability to always be right?”  You chuckle and kiss her cheek as an apology. “Seriously though, you don't have to worry. No one will ever be corrupted by the Darkhold again.”
Or will she?
The End.
Eugene Skullovitch canon and non canon kids
-stares at his sheer List of close friendships, implied romances, romances, and everything in between- I think Skull vies with Tommy for sheer amounts. Tommy or Billy, but definitely up there. At the very least I can say this is because he’s a reoccurring character over several seasons and movies and not because they were trying to force a hetero romance so nobody noticed the actor was gay. Skull’s naturally flirtatious demeanor and huge presence in the show is certainly to blame for this. So. I’m more than likely missing some, but -shrugs- I am doing My Best lol.
Canon kids:
Unknown mother;
Spike Skullovitch. Like Minh the other parent isn’t known or needed, so Spike never got her named. It’s led to a lot of ideas of who the mom is, au’s where he’s a putty hybrid, and just a whole lot of fun. But let’s focus on canon. Spike is the teenaged son of a now very famous and very rich Eugene Skullovitch. He spent the summer with his “uncle” Bulk. He’s got a massive crush on Mia and he wants to be a samurai and he’s always eager to help the power rangers. And can I just say I love this guy? He’s a cinnamon role. He’s a sweetie. He’s a baby doll and must be protected at all costs. He’s the sweetest of the confirmed canon kids we know of so far (I AM looking at Coinless!Adam’s unnamed son, yes I am. Child I wish we’d seen you before you died. I’d love to know your name) unfortunately the descendants don’t seem to get a lot of personality as a general rule, and even Spike’s a little light on personality. He’s got enough to make him stand out from his dad. But, I can’t help but adore him lol. Sir who are you and who’s your mom? Second bit doesn’t matter but I’d love to know you better.
Non canon oc and alternate reality kids and grandkids:
for the sake of not wanting to sound repetitive, not every universe will have Spike, just ones that make sense/would be interesting for him.
Kimberly Hart;
Stormy Hart, aged seventeen. Her parents are separated. Despite the rocky start with Eugene being Kim’s rebound, they got together again after the Candace Incident. Kim progressed on Eugene’s terms, and they had a kiddo right as they were applying for colleges. It was a bit difficult and they made it work, but when Stormy was seven they finally had to separate, though they’re not on bad terms. Stormy is Spike’s half sister, and has her own band. Has anxiety and depression. Doesn’t spend time with brother or Bulk, at least as much as she should. Mostly for her appearance. Got extremely jealous of Spike over the power rangers thing though! She generally lives with her mom, not her dad, hence why she doesn’t spend time with Spike. She loves her goofy half brother but she’s at the age where her image is important to her. She doesn’t have any colors associated with her.
Katherine Hillard;
I thought his mild attempts at flirting were cute. They got together after Turbo’s movie. Kat realized she was never going to replace Kim for Tommy, and broke up with him. She got with Skull after a few months and some very creative ways to ask her out. They have two sons. The oldest is Squire Hillard. Aged 17. He’s average height and kind of a brilliant himbo. He lets his reputation cover him like a mask, but he’s pretty devious when he’s properly motivated. A little bit of a tail chaser. He keeps striking out, but that never stopped him. While he is a power ranger (pink), he’s having fun running a podcast questioning who the power rangers are. This cover is so good not even Kat’s figured out he’s pink turbo ranger. Looks like a surfer bro. Prefers it that way. Half brother of Spike Skullovitch. Has had to save his half brother three times so far. Barely gets along with his dad, county Sheriff Eugene Skullovitch, but they’re trying. He’s closer to Kat and like her is a professional diver. He wants to get into the Olympics. His general outfit could best be described as “someone from the peppermint forest in candyland decided to become a pirate”. He actually has a rap sheet. He’s got middle child syndrome and you can usually find him with his friends, the other Turbo rangers, or with Bulk, or egging grandmas house with Devon. He’s giving Eugene a bald spot is what he’s doing. Spike does his best, but they really don’t see eye to eye. Squire likes his big brother, there’s just a bit of frustration with him.
Devon Skullovitch, aged eleven. Unlike Squire he’s not blond and looks more like Eugene and Spike. Bulk calls him the baby buddy, and it annoys him so so much. Loves video games and fixing cars. Can eat his weight in lasagna. Not associated with any color. Knows his brother is up to something, unsure what. Often getting babysit by half brother. Is known to egg his grandmothers house. A lot. It’s a problem.
Billy Cranston;
After being best friends as kids, then not, then sort of friends, then maybe more...they have two kids. Charlie Cranston, aged twenty two, and Oscar "Skid" Cranston, aged twenty. Charlie and Oscar are both via a science experiment, where Billy combined his and Eugene's genetic codes in a randomizer, to see if anything would happen that was viable as a sperm and egg equivalent. Yes, he got permission for this from Eugene. He sold the patent, and lives happily with his and Eugene's kids. Charlie is a blue solar ranger. She has been since she was seventeen. Billy didn't know at first and when he found out....he grounded her for not telling him. Then came back thirty minutes later, apologized, ungrounded her, and told her to be careful. Eugene doesn't get it as much but he's trying, he really is. He worries more than Billy, though Billy does often find himself staring up at the stars on late nights with tea in his hand, knots in his stomach and hoping he sees his daughter for Christmas. It's different, somehow, when they're in space and not in town.
Oscar is friends with a Bulkmeier, of course. He's the family "problem child", in a general sense. The prankster, and he's super smart. He is mild enough nobody really thinks he's as smartass and clever as he is. His entire motivation is cause as much chaos as possible. He used to prank his sister once a month until she left, and he's the one who let slip she's a power ranger because she was thrown through a building in front of him. She didn't know he knew, and he's been apologizing since via no more pranks, and gifts. so many gifts. Her favorite foods, updates on her favorite bands, jewelry she'd like. He doesn't have to but he feels bad. This was the closest they ever got to the family splintering. Trini, Zack, and Jason do their best to help the three deal with Charlie in space. Oscar works as a janitor, isn't really interested in dealing with school or anything. He likes doing his hobbies while having a stable job.
variation; they get together when he helps Skull with his newborn son. Spike takes care of his little siblings, and helped Oscar get his nickname and his current job. Billy is eternally caring to his adopted kid, and does the best he can by Spike.
variation 2; Charlie becomes Charlie from A Team. This time, Billy DOES ground her. she never hears the end of it
Farkas Bulkmeier;
Absolutely nobody was surprised when they got together. Eugene became a teen dad and Bulk didn't even think twice. He could fit boyfriend in one arm and baby in the other and he often did in the early days when sleeping with the two. For comfort and sense of protection. Skull was his best friend, and everything he'd ever want in a partner. They didn't bother with a ceremonial wedding, it was just going to get the paperwork signed and then having a big party celebrating with their friends. They have Spike, of course, and adopted one more. Between Spike and Amy, they're good. Sharkie offered to be a surrogate, and Billy offered a way to mix their genetics, but after a long talk with each other and them, it was just Spike and Amy.
Amy and Spike are the same age, with a four month difference. Spike's more emotionally mature than his sister, but Amy's more cunning and less naive than Spike. Currently both eighteen. She's jaded in a lot of ways and makes sure her brother doesn't have to be. Spike has had to ask her not to threaten any partners he might get with, because he can handle himself. She's had to occassionaly ask this goes both ways. Amy is considering being a mechanic, or a roadie for Skull or Spike. She likes feeling useful, she likes puzzles and chess and general challenges. Cannot cook to save her life, but she's a whiz at baking. She's better at math than anyone else in her family. But english is the bane of her existence. Is not associated with a color.
Tommy Oliver;
Tommy invited Skull to a carnival. After first being asked if Skull was a rebound-with a fast follow up to make sure Tommy wasn't taking him to something run entirely by putties-and then asking if he was sure sure Goldar and Skorpina wouldn't be there-Tommy decided he was going to make this a date. and the best one of Skull's life. The effort to help this guy have a proper, healthy, fair love life, meant it more or less accidentally lead to falling in love and while not marriage, they do live together. They have Spike, an adopted daughter Eliza, and a son together named Hunter. Rita thought it'd "bury the hatchet" and had the forethought to let them know she'd decided her first act of being nice would be something that would benefit them. Has not in fact, buried any negative feelings but the effort did mean something. Tommy's straight up told all three of his kids they're not allowed to go to Briarwood. Just in case.
Eliza "Lizzie" Oliver is 21, and wants to be a reporter. Thinks Tommy's worries are a little extreme when they directly affect his kids' lives, but she humors him even as an adult, because she loves him and wants to see him happy. A little selfish, but very smart. Good at picking up on subtext and helps explain things that go over her brothers' heads when she's with them. Tommy's too because he might be smart, but the man is kinda dumb. Not very organized, but somehow always has what she needs in her giant purse. Very resourceful, knows how to pick locks, and is capable of two types of martial arts.
Hunter Oliver-Skullovitch is 16. He's just trying to get through highschool guys, please let him get through highschool. He's been kidnapped twice, and he really just wants to be left alone. More of a punk than Tommy gets, but Tommy and Skull are supportive of his tastes and choices in life. Unfortunately everybody wants a piece of this kid, and while he's not associated with any color (by sheer force of will), this is not from lack of attempts. Hunter's just very very good at making himself too much of a nuisance to be worth taking. Like his siblings he knows two types of martial arts, can pick locks, knows how to get into vents, knows four ways to get out of ropes and other bindings, and can say "help me I've been kidnapped" in twelve languages. as well as "fire!" and "that's not a human!". He loves monster movies, because the monsters actually seem to pose a challenge. He and Tommy do have an understanding, and Tommy and Skull are both happy to let Hunter have a choice in becoming a ranger. He won't get forced into it, if he does he will do this fully with his eyes open and knowing what he's getting into. He will become a black ranger, when he's around 20, and it will be his choice.
Jason Lee Scott;
They were paired up for a school assignment a little after Tommy was reformed and saved from Rita. It was annoying, especially with Skull being so cagey and Bulk straight up threatening him if he went to the Skullovitch residence or business. When Jason dared, he realized why. And had to get saved from Mrs Skullovitch flirting with him. Which earned Skull a lot of verbal abuse as he pulled Jason far away from the house.
While he found our later she was drunk and had mistaken him for someone older, it was still rather panic inducing. Also embarrassing for the Skullovitch brothers and Bulk. He had to stop Stan apologizing on behalf of her, and understood Bulk’s anger. Jason felt the need to make it up to Skull, and they went from antagonizing each other to friends to semi-secretly dating each other. Everyone knew except Skull’s family. Jason didn’t even know what made him angrier; the fact Skull felt he had to protect Jason, or the fact that he lived in Tommy’s house whenever Tommy’s parents didn’t live there, and Skull’s parents didn’t seem to notice. They have one adopted daughter. Skull’s a guidance counselor at their old high school, and Jason is a karate instructor. Rebecca Scott is actually Stan’s, but Stan died and his girlfriend died in a car crash caused by monster activity, and the newborn was the only survivor. Eugene would have adopted her with or without Jason there. Luckily Jason was there, and Jason fell in instalove with the baby. She was very small and he loved her.
Jason and Skull got married to make it easier for Jason to formally adopt Rebecca, in case something happened and because everyone felt distancing her and Skull from the Skullovitch legacy was the best idea, and this could be accomplished by taking Jason's last name. He was only too happy to do this. He was disinherited by his dad, but it doesn't matter. The guy lost out on getting to know a great kid. Rebecca’s blind from the car accident, and has a dog and a cane to help her around. She’s 15, and nothing stops her. She’s got a lot of caution, but very little outright fear. The power rangers will protect the civilians, and her skills and disability aids help keep her safe as well. She loves to read, and has read every braille book in the library twice. She’s aware her dads are power rangers, and most of her extended family. They’re not going to let anything happen to her. And she’s going to make sure nothing happens to them. Rebecca is opinionated with a very strong sense of right and wrong. She’s actually rather blunt, but tries to be nice about it. She knows her mind and she knows how to direct people, but she hates being in a confrontation. Not associated with a color, but it’d probably be red or bronze if she were.
Trini Kwan;
He kept asking her out until she agreed to go out with him. And actually had a nice time. So she humored him again, and again, it was nice. They weren't seeing seeing each other though, and both of them had their kids around the same time. Skull had Spike, and Trini had Minh, and they liked each other fine and loved each other's kids. They had one more, together. August Kwan. He's thirteen, and a complete introverted social butterfly. He loves showing off and gushing about his interests but he hates dealing with too many people for too long. He's really into piano, like Skull. A composer for video game music sounds like a really fun profession, so maybe when he's older he'll work towards that. But he's thirteen, he's got time. He has a stuffed animal he's been attached to since he was two, is half convinced stuffed animal is sentient, and carries it around in his hoodie or backpack. He's not ready to let it go, and Trini fully understands, supports, and gets this. When he's ready, Banjo the seal plushy, will be put beside her own childhood doll Ticklesneezer. Skull's following along with the gentle parenting; he's a bit out of his depth but he appreciates and loves that their kids are being actively supported. He's working on it, and so far the kids aren't traumatized, so something must be working.
Rito Revulto;
Eugene managed to get him and Bulk out of being turned into chimpanzees by a (justifiably) pissed off Rito by convincing him of a role reversal; Bulk and Skull be the maids, Rito and Goldar act as Bulk and Skull. But this means Goldar and Rito have to commit to the things Bulk and Skull were doing. In this case, junior officers. It is a very weird set up, but Rito likes a challenge, he and Goldar decide it's fair, and the power rangers, Vile, Zordon and Alpha and Rita and Zedd are completely confused, but Rito tends to commit to whatever he sets his mind to, and Goldar has a very specific moral code he lives by and this falls in line with it. Vile occasionally tries to cause the comedy duo to go back on their word so he can get his tool-I mean son-back, but the rangers do step in enough to help them. As does Stone, Ernie, and the others.
Eugene and Rito bond over highly shitty parents and realizing they're very similar. They're both people pleasers whose trauma responses is sarcastic quips and being class clown types. Rito turned Eugene's parents into a couple of dogs, and while he contemplated doing the same to Stan, he simply made sure Stan got a big break in the music scene. He couldn't convince Eugene to leave earth at first, until Eugene got left behind by Bulk. There was really nothing left for him on earth, so Eugene took him up on it. They're pirates, and have their own ship, and their son Elio is the apple of their eye. Elio is 26. He's cunning, fast talking, fast thinking, fast acting and has very little fear. He's as courageous as Skull and Rito try to pretend they are. He's bold, and wicked, but he's a man of his word. He has a devil's lock coloring in his hair. Stark black hair and stark white in streaks has gotten him an affectionate nickname of Skunk, but when he likes someone he asks they call him Elio. He listens to his parents and is completely loyal to them, but not out of fear. They're genuinely good at being leaders of their group, and sort of seen as the father figures of most of the crew. Elio follows his dads because he genuinely loves working for them. He did have a splash of rebelliousness in his teens though. He learned the violin, not the piano. When not pirating, they live on Mirinoi with Bulk. He's been to earth a few times, and loves fucking with JJ Oliver, it's hilarious. Not associated with a color, but he'd happily get to know a certain shade of Green.
Does Bulk especially like the lifestyle choice for his best buddy, best buddy's partner and best buddy's kid? no. Can he deny this is the happiest he's ever seen Skull? also no. He is literally living out a childhood fantasy, and thriving. Billy, however, is this close to losing it and throwing all three in a prison on Aquitar. Skull's not even sure if this is from jealousy or being a power ranger. Or the fact Elio's flirting with every ranger close to his age as a battle tactic. Some more seriously than the others.
a tangential au is where Vile kills his parents and forces Elio to work for him. He did offer him as a valid vessel to Specter, but it didn’t work. This version he does get with JJ, who went undercover on the ship to figure out what exactly happened. They manage to get Elio and the crew out of Vile's clutches safely. Elio goes from being like Rito to a lot more like comic!Skull. Divatox is partly responsible for what happens, having gotten tired of the competition.
Adam Park;
Eugene doesn't believe in himself, but Adam does, did, and always has. They started dating after Adam encouraged him to play the piano in the talent show. Adam loves his music, and they're both encouraging of each other. Aisha is a surrogate for their son, Lukas. Given how close she was to Adam, it was only natural in her mind to offer. She loves him, loves he's found happiness, and when they decided they wanted kids she wanted to help that happiness grow. Lukas Park's 17, plays piano, and volunteers at the animal shelter. Adam's a doctor and while Lukas respects and likes this, he'd rather be a veterinarian. Or, like Skull, a professional classical pianist. They support Lukas with whatever he wants to do or be, and he loves the fact he's not being pressured. Skull once sat him down with a list of every job he's ever done (the list was actually more like an entire manila folder bursting out the sides, it was frankly impressive), a ranking system and how much each profession made. Everything from a cop to a detective to an undercover agent for the government to a waiter at a bar to a judge at a pet show to rockstar to pianist-it was comprehensive and a little overwhelming, but at the end of each profession Skull said if it was what he wanted, he'd be proud. At the end it left Lukas fairly calm and certain no matter what choice he made, it'd be the right choice for him, and his dads would support him in this. not associated with a color
Aisha Campbell;
She asked him out and he thought it was a joke. It wasn't. They found they actually challenge each other in interesting ways. She also hates his mom and her parents love him, so that helped a lot. They've got a daughter, Kensie Campbell. Aged 15. Excitable by nature, is in the drama club. Has a near perfect memory, uses this for shenanigans, mostly when sassing her many many honorary aunts and uncles or annoying villains and monsters. Eugene is so, so proud. Aisha sometimes worries the know it all attitude is going to get her in trouble. However, nothing's happened-yet-and Kensie does seem to slowly be learning how to read the room. She plays piano to help her think. Her favorite is moonlight sonata. It partially annoys Skull, but his favorite composer is Bach, so it's more of a principle thing. Kensie is a soccer player, and has a very close best friend. Skull's getting the "what to in case you're kidnapped by a monster with your best friend" speech ready, just in case a group of crime fighting teenagers with attitude show up. not associated with a color
Zack Taylor;
Zack's always tried to give Bulk and Skull the benefit of the doubt and never felt any true antagonistic feelings to them. Annoyance sure, but he doesn't hate them. Eugene took a while to warm up to Zack though, because nice doesn't mean trustworthy, and the two eventually started dating when Eugene realized no, Zack really is just that sweet. They run an ice cream parlor together and have two adopted kids. Achibald "Archie" Taylor and Marigold "Mari" Taylor.
Archie was adopted in his teens, and while this means he doesn't get to have as much time growing up with Zack and Skull as his dads, he's got the rest of his life with them as his parents, and that's the best thing he's ever heard. He was adopted out of the foster care system at thirteen, and is nineteen. He loves botany and magic tricks. Being a stage magician or professional botanist would be really really cool. He doesn't play piano or dance but he loves watching Zack and loves listening to Eugene practice at night. Is unsure what he wants to do with his life, but inheriting the ice cream parlor would be nice, if the botany or the stage magician thing doesn't work out. is not associated with a color.
Mari was adopted last year. She's fourteen and getting used to living with her brother and her dads. They're kinda weird, but she likes them. It is weird going to a new school in a new town, with a new last name. She doesn't really know what she likes, she's still figuring it out, but she knows she likes it here and that's good enough. She does miss her old friends and home a little, but she is making new friends. Zack and Eugene give her space and understanding, and Archie's been great with advice and settling in. not associated with a color.
Sharkie;
They got together after Bulk left earth, but Sharkie did always prefer Bulk over Skull. They separated, but they're still friends. They have a son, Felix, aged 17, and he's seriously considering dropping out and going on a cross country road trip to find himself. He doesn't know what he wants or who he is. He's a lot like his parents, but he's not sure if that was just trying to make them happy or if he genuinely likes these things. They tried by him, he knows this. He's not even half bad. He just doesn't know if he's supposed to be having a midlife crisis at 17. Will be solar green ranger, and realize he enjoys country-rock (the kind of country rock that talks about murders, curses and being a gunslinger in a loveless land or people randomly turning into crows), has a knack for learning new languages, and likes ballet. He's been in ballet since he was four but so was Sharkie so the confirmation he likes it is nice. Also learns he likes playing piano, genuinely. Also nice. He comes home quite happy and a lot more settled into himself, and Skull and Sharkie are proud of him.
Tasha;
It was a complete accident, and they both feel really weird about it. But they kept the kid. Tuskin "Tusk" Skullovitch is lead singer in a punk band, and a bit of a bully at school. He's brilliant but finds it difficult to apply himself in anything he doesn't find an interest in. He loves puns, and loves confusing people. He likes studying rocks because rock music. It takes people a second. He's been smacked more than once over this, but doesn't mind. Bit clever, bit bored, bit of a troublemaker, bit of a pain in his parent's necks. Eugene does love his kid but wow, he's a little bit of a snot. Eugene's forced him into being a lifeguard over the summer to just-try and get this kid some sort of friendship with someone so he can have an attitude adjustment.
Marleau Eskin;
Surprisingly not the worst. He got her to be less of a bitch in an incident were they were taken together by a monster, and he actually lost his temper and snapped at her. When she tried to deflect by getting him to back down with a challenge (which to be fair normally worked), he raised an eyebrow, took a breath, and let loose. To say she had to do some soul searching after the extremely thorough roast would be putting it mildly. She stopped being as much of a mean girl, and he asked her out to prom. More as a dare, but she said yes. One thing led to another and while they don't talk anymore, they do have joint custody of their son Rusty Eskin. Marleau is the mayor of Angel Grove, Skull is a mechanic. It's kind of a whiplash every other month to go from mayor manor to an apartment over a carshop, but Rusty doesn't mind very much. Marleau's learned to be a lot nicer over the years, and she's a much milder version of herself to her son. Rusty on his part likes being at the carshop almost more than the manor, but it's less to do with Marleau and more to do with he hates the reputation he gets with "the mayor's son" and much prefers getting his hands dirty on a car with his dad. He likes problem solving, and fixing things. He likes shop class and he built his own motorcycle for one of the classes. He got his license and he's promised both parents he'll be careful. And he has been. He's also orange turbo ranger. This suits him more than fine.
Candice/Zelya;
Candice told him the truth about who she was, and to put it mildly, he was hurt. He had to put his foot down and tell her he needed to think about it. He really needed to think about what he was going to be doing, and what they were going to be. She waited, and he came back. And was accepting of it, mainly because she'd bit the bullet and been honest. However he had ground rules. She couldn't lie to him, if they had a kid (because things happen) the kid was going to be co-parented and if she wanted to raise future kids as an Eltaran fine but either they spent time on earth or Skull lived with them, or they did the best they could on earth. She was just grateful he was willing to try. Bulk eventually forgave her, when she went against her commander and stopped being the Bronze Guardian for the sake of her relationship with Skull. She fought in the Eltaran War against the Eltarans. While she was captured with the intent of re-educating, she was rescued by Jason and Billy.
They have a daughter, and Spike. Their daughter is Zephyr Skullovitch. she's sixteen, and she and Spike do get taught Eltaran tradition, as much as possible, on earth. Zephyr's got the Z name as she resembles Zelya more in a lot more ways. Spike's got more human dna here, but his sister's blue as a blueberry. Zephyr is best described as 'prickly' or 'grumpy' and the only person who gets her to smile is her brother. The pink ranger tries, but keeps striking out. Zelya wants to be an interdimensional diplomat, and travel universe to universe and see everything. She wants to see everything, know everything, experience everything. Intense, bull headed, one track minded, and has an almost destructive lack of self worth and imposter syndrome. almost. She might not believe in herself but her brother and her parents do. And the pink ranger chick. possibly. Zephyr is not associated with a color.
Matthew Cook;
Matt dives head first into the villain persona, and is happily doing so. He's thriving. Until he's forced into an ultimatum; save Bulk and Skull from certain death by the hands of Goldar, or vanquish the Solar Rangers. Against his better judgment, he saves Bulk and Skull. Skull, unfortunately for timing wise, had said he'd kiss whoever saved their lives minutes before Matt saved them. He's a man of his word, but he also punched him in the mouth immediately after. Matt's confused as hell. So instead of chasing after Kim, begins chasing after Skull because what was THAT. This leads to a very weird redemption arc because Matt has realized 2 things; he likes being kissed by Skull and he does not want Skull mad at him anymore. Cut to fifteen years later; they've got a kid of their own and no actual idea how they got there really. But, they're happy, don't hate each other's guts, their kid's thriving, it's all good. The entire empire of evil absolutely hates them though and Matt somehow managed to get himself on the shit list of Thor. As long as he doesn't go out while it's thunderstorming he should be fine.
Their son is ten, his name is Jude Cook. Jude is one of the weirdly luckiest kids alive. He's survived an insane amount of attempts on his life, falls, kidnappings, and things he should otherwise not survive. His parents have stopped asking how. Loki helped give them a son, which is partly why Thor's pissed, so they've at this point accepted demigod baby is just gonna do what a demigod baby do. It's probably for the best. Spike's his older brother, and is training with Loki to be some sort of spirit of shapeshifting mischief. They both love causing mild trouble. Like Skull, Jude's got a fear of flying which makes things a little interesting. Skull's got his sons and his partner on a very very strict promise; if the shenanigans could cause an enemy of something power, walk away. Walk far away. Neptune exists. We don't want to get on the bad side of Neptune.
in a tangential version, Billy coparents with the two, and studies demigod ten year old, and deals with the Norse gods being in his business. At the very least nobody's been sucked into Ares' prison jar, so that's good.
*Bonus Poly of Billy Cranston, Matt Cook, and Eugene Skullovitch has all above children mentioned. They live in a large house, Eugene's a famous rockstar and restaurant chain owner, and they actually use every room in said house. In this version they met via Matt asking the only person he knew with experience in bdsm for some help with his newly realized kinks; Skull's payment was pizza nights and then Billy got dragged in because he was certain Matt was abusing Skull, but realized it was fine, actually. And fun.
Au Grandchildren:
Prince Olympius;
Eugene and Bulk got dragged to hell, once, and found a little child demon who needed protection as much as they themselves did. The two survived long enough in the dimension with the kid to be rescued by Olympius and Spike. Olympius and Spike, though having known each other when they were younger, reconnected over this. Olympius named the kid Petrichor, and he was later given the nickname Pepper by the mystic red ranger Nick. Pepper is a fifteen year old power ranger, though he got his morpher when he was thirteen. His team is a team of nonhumans who all have unusual rare colors, with the exception of their sixth ranger, Deena, who is a human and a white ranger. Although Pepper is a demon that water can hurt, he is an aquaphile. He loves the ocean, he loves water planets, he loves the rain, and one day wants to study marine biology. Chipper, smart, but generally as easy going as Spike is. He is the crown prince, but knows he’s only in the position because he was adopted into it, and tries very hard to be a good prince. Be diplomatic, be strategic, have all the answers. One day he’s going to be depended on, and he needs to perfect it now. Olympius has cautioned him that even he hasn’t figured it all out, so Pepper’s going to be fine in that eventuality. Just so long as he tries, and he does. Pepper is the indigo ranger.
Mia Watanabe;
So that summer was…eventful. Skull got a grandson and a daughter in law in one fell swoop. He also moved to Panorama City because daughter in law was also a pink ranger and no, he’s not stupid. Rangers should stick to their cities with their teams. Plus Ji was making a stink and they found it easier to just smooth ruffled feathers than deal with him. Spike and Mia have one daughter. Ai Skullovitch lives with Skull while Mia and Spike are at school. She’s eight years old, and Skull loves her. Spike and Mia also dote on their daughter. The kid happens to be taste blind like Mia and feeding her and having her help in the kitchen’s always eventful. While Ji doesn’t spend much time with Ai he does give her presents and training. Neither Mia nor Spike want Ai to be a power ranger. At least. Not a Samurai Ranger, so things from Ji tend to get screened to make sure training and gifts are appropriate. Skull kinda likes being a grandpa.
Lauren Shiba;
Spike and Lauren literally had to go into hiding, and are currently holed up under assumed names with their kid. The little cabin property on the edge of a small tourist ski town in Idaho never came in so much handy for Skull. He was able to help them, and they and the four year old are riding this out up there till the drama dies down. Lauren and Spike got very good at training together, and got very close. However life got in the way for a while. Lauren had taken some time from everything to do some soul searching and finding herself, and Spike was doing a music tour. Mica is not an accident, but he's not approved of at all by Ji and the rest. Skull, however, loves him, and loves his son, and is trying to help them so the kid doesn't have to live his entire life in hiding. Mica's got brown hair, but otherwise looks a lot like Skull and Spike, which is a good thing. "Sam" and "Isabelle" are making the best of it, and are planning on homeschool if things don't change soon. Or chancing moving to Angel Grove. Skull just wants them to be happy and safe, and at least he's not alone in that.
wips:
golden afternoon: chapter 2
bear au: lumax interlude
uncle eddie
kas!chrissy
snippet (from golden afternoon):
Steve is a messy fighter.  When he was a teenager on the basketball team, he never really played dirty, is the thing. He would rough house with his friends here and there, rough house with Tommy when one or both of them were being a prick about something, but it was never with the intent to actually hurt.  They’d shoot baskets outside of practice and it wouldn’t be about winning, it would just be about one-upping; it would be about getting the upper hand but not about getting the other guy on the ground.  Steve isn’t a teenager anymore.  Steve isn’t some goofy jock with too much time on his hands and too much to prove anymore.  Steve is a soldier, no longer at war, but unable to shake the instinct in his bones that gets angry, that gets bold in the face of a perceived threat.  And it doesn’t matter, right? It doesn’t matter that this is just some guy throwing a slur at his best friend, that they could realistically get out of here and never see him again, that Robin can more than handle herself in this situation.  It doesn’t matter, not really, because Steve isn’t a teenager anymore, and he’s also not entirely good at impulse control anymore. Not when impulse kept him alive for so long. Not when impulse and striking first were the two things he relied on more than anything after Hopper died.  Steve is a messy fighter, so when he lunges and when he tackles, it’s without grace. It’s without purpose too, beyond the obvious, beyond the single second of a moment Steve is existing within.
tagging (with zero pressure but lots of love): @kkpwnall @hellsfireclub @fragilecapric0rnn @gothbat99 @capriciouslyterminal @thefreakandthehair @stevethehairington @stargyles @cheatghost @yournowheregirl @judasofsuburbia + anyone else who just wants to do this! I didn't need to be tagged and neither do you mwah!
I REQUEST HEADCANNONS FOR TINY WORKERS!!! please…
Also some drawing prompts for Tiny Workers if you don’t mind 👉👈
/nf
man i had like 3 hcs all written out and some drawing prompts too and my internet completely crashed. ripppp
i guess i'll start again :v
my all time favorite bits in tiny workers (that i can remember) are a. tommy being stuck in tipsy wil's pocket while he and schlatt walk around the park aimlessly, and b. the workers just launching water balloons at protestors 😭 SO either one of those, or or or equally as good: your favorite bit. because i am very curious what other people think of this au ,,,,
NOW headcannons
tiny workers headcannons ✨
on their uniforms, they have their name stitched into the bottom of the cloth, but they realized it doesn't really work all that well, so they upgraded to the typical worker nametag, which leads to all of the workers crossing out their name and adding something different, or like adding things. tommy's added "innit" to the bottom, q put "big" in front of his and crossed off "uackity" ykyk all the fun stuff
and on the topic of uniforms, they also have stitched other stuff into it. tommy's added like a l'manburg flag after the dnd era thingy, tubbo's added a bee and a nuke, just stuff that kinda both relates to their lore reenactment or just them as a person ,,,,
one time techno came over with wilbur and tech just steals tommy from will (which COULD strike up some tw!tnt content but that's a different story) and they make it their day's goal to just break every single rule. except no smoking (based off of a thing me and my uncle do ever fall)
i've been trying very hard to think of attractions because i realized how much i need to do for 20k acres 😭 anyway i went to a theme park the other day and got to have some inspo. SO have some. one, imagine like. mascots. definitely would make the park more kid-oriented AND imagine just different characters from size media. like arrietty or some guy from the honey i shunk series
another one from hershey: i saw a few people with giant ass reversable octopuses and saw some girl sitting inside of it using it as a chair and LIKE imagine that but as a hand. u can win a giant hand at some arcade game 👀👀
imagine like a rollercoaster or waterslide that had a 3d effect or just had screens on the side that projected like a human coming after you, or some kind of bug/animal/etc
i mentioned a lego thing at one point and i know a lot of lego stores have a build-your-own lego, and imagine wil making one just to resemble tommy claiming that the figurine'll replace the kid JVJSDV
imagine another dnd game (much shorter) with the (entire) scu 👀 this time with a few strangers. ORRRRR i could make grizzly & bizly canon. maybe both tiny workers.
charlie'll be introduced then probably. he'll be a stranger prior to the campaign and after that charlie becomes a tiny bit of a regular.
i think i'm also gonna make jaiden canon as a human worker
imagine a restaurant that's made to look like a human counter. like there's some kind of optical illusion on the floor that makes you look really high up 👏👏👏
i went to a planetarium yesterday and lemme tell u the g/t in me went BRRRR. it opened with like an eye over me looking around and at one point they made it look like you were getting closer to a telescope, which also looked like being trapped under a cup. SO imagine THAT in the park. just some kind of theater with a giant screen over you, maybe a first-person mini-movie about being a borrower ✨
I HOPE THESE SUFFICE FOR NOW !! i also have 2 art-ish things in the works hopefully soon. one of them is being a bitch cause there is so much for it sfjfsdd
Rock ‘N’ Roll News:
RUMORS KEEP ON SPREADING
Our Beer Desk reports that an ingenious series of ads promoting their longtime faves, the Replacements, recently appeared in what they call the “tip sheets” of this, the music industry. Seeing that the Mats are this month’s CREEM profile, and that the aforementioned ads bear a passing resemblance to that hallowed institution, Rock ’n’ Roll News is happy to reprint the tip sheet stuff for its sheer historicity, and other great reasons.
By J. Kordosh
Fresh from a trip over to England, where rock ‘n’ roll was invented, the Replacements are back in the U.S.A. Sadly, they didn’t dare too well in England - that’s where Simple Minds’ live album rightfully entered the charts at #1 - but maybe when they return they’ll be better and make lots of money. In the meantime, here’s some impressions from these inaugural (for ‘87) Stateside shows - the type of thing you can look forward to yourself:
The first night, their last encore is “Hello, Dolly.” Yes... that was Paul, Dolly.
The second night, a jet-lagged and tipsy Chris Mars struggles through the first song, then retires to the side of the stage. “Is there a drummer in the house?” asks Westerberg. Fortunately, there are many, and the show continues.
The third night, Westerberg’s amp goes out. While repairs are made, John, their roadie, plays “The Girl From Ipanema,” a standard crowd-pleaser.
Every night, the Replacements wear plaid. Lots of plaid. Reams of plaid. There’ll be hundreds of cold horses in Minnesota come the frost.
Back to the first night. Westerberg strikes up Them’s “Here Comes The Night.” His fellow Mats watch, fascinated. Westerberg tries it again, singing the first few lines. Everyone watches, fascinated. Onto the next song.
One of the concerts is a record company showcase of sorts, which means the dozens who toiled to shove Pleased To Meet Me into the Top 612 and had nothing better to do were out in force. Bassist Tommy Stinson, the devil in his eye, grabs the mike and yells, “There’s where all the people in the record company are!” He points them out to the undoubtedly appreciative audience as a smiling Paul shoves him from the mike.
Along with “Hello Dolly” - so amiable a number it’s incorporated into the set by the third night - the Mats cover some of the most popular tunes ever. In addition to “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” these include “Promised Land,” “Battleship Chains,” “Be My Lover,” “California Sun” and “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Bono Vox doesn’t appear on stage, unlike half the audience during the second show.
While the Mats swap instruments during the second show, new guitarist Slim Dunlap is left temporarily axeless and sits things out awhile. He returns to engage Westerberg in a scathing dual lead on “The Ledge,” a song the Replacements term their favorite in ads everywhere.
Seattle’s Young Fresh Fellows open for the Mats all three night, amazing the crowds with songs like “My Friend Ringo” and “Amy Grant,” or at least their titles.
The first night, a girl between the ages of 20 and 201/4 who’s probably never heard of the Replacements, never wants to hear of the Replacements again, and probably dearly wishes they’d been taken up on their name, watches as they take the stage. She remains seated the entire night, her mouth open. Someday, someone will move her.
During the three nights, the Mats manage to include a lot of their own songs, many among the most magnificent of the decade. The first night, Westerberg changes the lyrics of “Bastards Of Young” most adroitly; later on, he makes the line “definitely not L.A.” from “Left Of The Dial” sound like something less than a testimonial to a grand city.
There’s plenty more to look forward to at a Replacements’ show - one night, for example, Westerberg ended a string of boom-boom false starts with “waitress In The Sky” and “g’night.” Another found him dabbling with five seconds’ worth of Neil Young’s “Helpless,” and another had him turning in stellar acoustic versions of “Skyway” and “If Only You Were Lonely.”
Never dull and scarcely predictable, you could do a lot worse than seeing the Replacements. If nothing else, it’ll give you some great stories to tell at the next concert you go to.
CREEM’s Profiles: The Replacements
Home: Left Of The Dial. AGE: Bastards of Young. PROFESSION: World’s Greatest Rock 'N' Roll Band 1987. HOBBIES: Dealing with them “nightclub jitters”; “magic pants” & plaids; Alex Chilton; loving rock ’n’ roll; hating “rock ’n’ roll”; playing rock 'n' roll... LAST BOOK READ: Elvis: The Final Years by Jerry Hopkins. LAST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Making people laugh. QUOTE: “I don’t know.” PROFILE: These guys get a bad rap. One day they might be drunk; next day, not so drunk. One day, great onstage; next day, not so, with only moments of greatness. People say they’re “the bad boys of rock.” If they were boffing 12-year-old girls and doing tons of drugs and selling millions of records—instead of going back after a show to call their girlfriends, making about as much as they’d make in a factory but having fun, being mischievous but basically kind-hearted, and not selling many records but actually being as honest in their own way as John Lennon was in his—they’d be revered. Still, the music’s what will matter in the end. BEER: Boy Howdy!
The way Tommy tells Lizzie he doesn't want to guess after the whole May thing...what do you think about it.
the entire May drama, is well discussed and most of the general take makes sense about Lizzie's outburst, the snark taunts, and May's response...but how far do you think Tommy was aware of Lizzie and stuff
Polly seems to have the idea that she loves him and even Ada, but what about Tommy? He seems to be slightly aware of it all, and seems to use it also, but at the same time doesn't want to take her seriously not ignoringhis traumafrom Grace's death, but then says he's kissing her when she puts her doubts...was he leading her on for his own emotions? While he also explicitly makes effort to put a wall between them (sometimes protect her heart)
I wasn't sure but I think you're asking about the scene in season 4 when May Carleton visits the office and Lizzie reacts jealously? I watched the scene last night, because I couldn't remember it very well.
So the context of the scene is that Tommy had recently taken Lizzie to the spot on the canal where he used to meet Greta, Lizzie asks if it's Greta he's kissing or her, he says it's her, and then they have sex. It seems like the first time they've been intimate since season 3, so at least a year. Afterwards Lizzie comments that they're all losing their minds trapped in Small Heath because of the vendetta, which Tommy acknowledges.
I think this point may be important to the situation you're bringing up, so I'll just note that Uncle Charlie also comments that Tommy's "going mad cooped up here... like a wasp in a beer glass."
May Carleton shows up in person with some paperwork for Tommy to sign and immediately when she enters the office, Lizzie reacts jealously, calling her "Lady Carleton." It's interesting that Lizzie's reaction takes the form of highlighting their class difference, and this too is important. May says she's not a lady, Lizzie says "too right you aren't" which is more or less calling her a whore, I think? Like, Lizzie knows that May showing up is basically saying she's interested, but all the polite trappings of class make that plausibly deniable in ways that aren't available to Lizzie.
When Tommy puts the question to May, she more or less responds that she was curious to see what Tommy was like now that his wife and brother were dead, and that he hasn't changed at all. Tommy's immediate reaction is blank, but he goes on to invite her to taste the gin he's distilled "for the eradication of seemingly incurable sadness."
Whiiiich is a pretty passive aggressive way of telling her she's wrong that he hasn't changed in the face of so much grief. I could probably write a whole essay just on the interactions between these two in this episode but you asked about Lizzie. I wanted to bring this up because I think it illuminates some things about Tommy's role in all this.
Lizzie comes into the office with some excuse, and proceeds to act very obviously jealous. She makes a comment that Tommy "sees something glamorous and expensive and he just can't resist it. He's so weak." Which is obviously aimed at May. Again, Lizzie's jealously takes the form of a jab about the class difference between she and May.
What are we to make of this? First, Lizzie knows there's no reason for May to have shown up in person to get Tommy to sign paperwork. Just as in s2, May and Tommy dance around the propriety of her virtue, with May not acknowledging what she's there for outright and Tommy more or less giving her an excuse. In s2 it was that his car was out of oil, in s4 it's the fake strike. He always carefully gives her an out: he has booked a suite at the Midland, but it's clear he is waiting for her to acknowledge the subtext, waiting for consent. He acts a bit pissy about the whole thing unlike in s2, but that dance is still there.
I think the point I want to make is that this is part of Lizzie's jealousy: no one is ever worried about the propriety of fucking her. Not just because of the class difference, though that's part of it, but also because of her past. So she sees May show up for no good reason, which signals her interest in Tommy without saying a word. And she obviously knows May and Tommy had a relationship in the past.
And she does pick up on a pattern with Tommy and rich women -- this is also true of Grace, who he married. Tommy is careful with these women in a way that he isn't with her; he gives them a type of respect that he doesn't give her.
Now, Tommy's reaction is what you asked about. When he says he doesn't can't even guess about Lizzie's outbursts, what's going on there?
First, I think Tommy distracts himself with sex. I think that's what he was doing with the sex worker in the Midland in 4.01, with Lizzie in that scene by the canal, and with May here. He's also losing his mind trapped in Small Heath for a variety of reasons that could also be another essay. He's fucked up over John's death even if no one can tell. He's got the lives of his whole family on his head. None of this excuses how he treats Lizzie, but it is the context.
If you watch the canal scene, he's downright spacey as he talks about Greta, as if it's something he hadn't remembered at all until Jessie Eden gave him that photograph and confronted him with his pre-war self. He's really dissociated and out of it, then he says he wanted to bring Lizzie there (why?). So yeah, as I said in a previous post I do think he wasn't really kissing Lizzie there as much as he was in part using her to connect to this pre-war part of himself. I don't think that was conscious at all. After they fuck and are smoking and talking, he's visibly more connected and conscious, more 'in his body' so to speak. He starts talking about charity projects he wants Lizzie to run because he'd promised Greta he'd change the world. It's a pretty fucked up scene from Lizzie's perspective, absolutely. What is she supposed to think?
He seemed to want to have this romantic moment with her but was obviously remembering someone else while he did it. Then May shows up and most likely Lizzie already knows he's booked a suite at the Midland. She may have even been the one to book it for him.
But how aware is Tommy of the fact that Lizzie is in love with him? I think this is fairly up to interpretation, to be honest. I think you could interpret it as that he's aware and uses her. I don't personally think that's quite accurate.
In s2 at the race when he asks Lizzie to lead the field marshall on for him, Lizzie's very upset that he even asks, and starts to say something about how giving up sex work was easy because she was in love with him-- she doesn't quite say that last part, but the thing I think is important is that Tommy is genuinely not listening. And he's not listening because of the fact he's planning to kill a man and is stressed out about it. This doesn't excuse him for any of it, but it is a point where I think he absolutely wasn't aware that Lizzie was telling him she's upset because she loves him and he's asking her to do this thing.
By s3 he says that Lizzie is the only one who kept his heart from breaking, which is... well, it's got to involve more than just being the 1920s equivalent of friends with benefits, right?
But I do think in Tommy's mind, that's what he sees them as. And sure, I think there's a lot of reasons why that's pretty convenient for him. But I don't think Tommy consciously uses Lizzie in the way you're asking about, where he's manipulating her affections for him overtly and consciously leading her on. I *do* think he is careless of her and just doesn't consider how she feels at all, for the most part. He's too wrapped up in his own head for that.
I think he put a wall between them after s3 because she'd seen him vulnerable and he couldn't handle being vulnerable with anyone after the events of s3 and his family's arrest and rejection of him. It wasn't for Lizzie's sake, he wasn't protecting her feelings, but his own.
So when he needs her again in s4 when he's losing his mind from pressure, he just assumes she'll be there. And he doesn't see this as any kind of commitment, which is why he's angry and perplexed at her jealous behavior.
And yeah, this says a lot about him and his assumptions about her and still seeing her as available to him for his needs, versus the careful way he negotiates things with May. He was much more direct with May in some ways too -- in s2 he outright tells her he isn't in love with her, because he respects her feelings. He doesn't ever seem to see that as something he should do with Lizzie, and that's telling of how he thinks of her, or doesn't think of her.
It's not very flattering. So when I say that I don't think he intentionally leads her on or uses her affection for him, it's not saying he's a good guy here. Some of this is probably at least a little bit willfully ignoring things as well, because he doesn't want to deal with them.
It's complex, because he respects her enough to try to counter her own self-loathing talk about how nice girls aren't sex workers, and I think he's being genuine -- he considers her a nice girl, he respects her mind and her ambition, he trusts her with projects that are important to him, etc. But on some level he doesn't consider her as someone he needs to be careful with the way he was with Grace and May. And part of this is the class difference and Tommy's internalized class issues (upper class women need to be treated this way) and part of it is his unconscious assumptions about Lizzie because of their history of his having been her customer, I think.
The fact all this is most likely unconscious and unexamined for him doesn't make it right at all.
From Lizzie's perspective they had this moment at the canal and then May Carelton shows up and he's clearly interested in her. It'd be a slap in the face. But yeah, I don't think Tommy thinks about what Lizzie feels about him, so he's more or less annoyed and confused in the face of her jealousy.
"We should have been in bed 3 hours ago."
Since you didn't specify if this was a reader insert or anything, i made it about my oc, Eva.
This takes place around 1926-27 after season 4
Late Nights
With this sudden desire to dive into politics, they were swarmed with work.
Lizzie had left early before dinner. Tiago had come back from his overseas mission early and she was desperate to be with her husband and away from work.
This left Eva functioning as Tommy’s secretary and wondering if this will turn into another sleepless nights.
Their baby boy stirred inside her as Tommy kept typing away on his typewriter.
To be honest, it reminded Eva of her childhood. Seeing her parents, sometimes aunts and uncles and assorted employees trying to get everything done on the fancy dinner table that allegedly belonged to the Sun King.
Except this wasn’t about the company, no, this was working around the clock to get his nomination papers done by the deadline.
He was a smart man, very smart, so why the hell did he not tell her he needed this shit done sooner?
“We should have been in bed three hours ago.” Eva complained, rubbing her eyes as she yawned.
“Need this done by tomorrow, I want a head start when we get started on the canvassing and my campaign, love.” He says, drinking his third cup of coffee this night. “Go to sleep, it’s not healthy for the baby.”
“Baby refuses to sleep without feeling his father’s arm over him,” Eva stretched before getting back to work. Maybe once she gets this done, she’ll drag her husband to bed and sleep in till noon. “You’ll look like shit tomorrow when you go deliver these in person.”
“If it were up to you we’d be turning these in at the latest possible deadline, Evie.” He scoffed at her.
“No, we’d be working on a humane schedule where we’d get this shit done. Makes me want to go on strike again.” She jokes and tries her best to look sexy, but Eva knows she looks like death warmed over.
Makeup smudged and running, pretty blouse had coffee and strawberry stains, dark circles under her eyes that rivaled his, and her fucking husband still looks at her like she’s the greatest thing since Q-tips came on the market in 1923.
Eva never forgot that, the Q-tip company was his first impulse investment. They’d gotten a lifetime supply of those shits from a very grateful Leo Gerstenzang.
Makes her weepy, thinking about it.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked almost softly, distracted by Eva’s nostalgic tears.
“How lucky I am to have you.” She shrugs. They were better now, no cold indifference, no passionate bursts of anger, just them being content and still in love.
“Come here, love.” He said and they leaned across his desk for a kiss or two.
Eva’s the first to notice he’s accidentally knocked over his coffee mug.
“Puta madre.”
“Fucking hell.”
What started off as a normal day at the pub on Garrison Lane changed rather quickly by two in the afternoon. The textiles factory was on strike, and some of its workers thought that it'd be good to mosey on into the pub instead of supporting the cause that they walked out for. The group was drunk by noon, and drunken men always brought on drunken fights.
Luckily, (Y/N) had Harry there to break it up. All she had to do was serve the belligerent customers and hope that she'd be able to keep her outfit clean. That hope didn't last very long. She was making the rounds to clean up the floor when one of the men rocked to the side, tipping his pint along with it. It went down the front of (Y/N)'s outfit, but thankfully the majority of it got onto her apron.
"S...sorry, miss," the man hiccupped, not saying much more before he turned his attention back to his drinking buddies. (Y/N) just sighed and made an abrupt turn away from the tables. She didn't care if half of the floor wasn't cleaned, she needed to get the smell of beer off of her.
So she dropped her bucket by the bar and went to the lavatory, quickly discarding her apron and taking a wet towel to try and get the spots of stout out of the blouse she had on. Of course, that only served to make larger wet spots, and she was left with the only option of tucking her blouse further into her skirt. She hissed slightly at the feeling of the wetness against her stomach, but she knew she had to get used to it.
"(Y/N)! Bar's backing up!" Harry's voice came from outside the door, making her sigh once more.
"I'll be right out, Harry!" she called back to him, smoothing her hair down in the mirror before she took a deep breath and walked to the door.
Upon returning to the pub's main area, she saw several people waiting at her bar. So she immediately got to filling orders. Things were going smooth until she got to the last man who was perched up against the counter. Something about him made the breath get caught in her throat.
"What can I get you, sir?" she asked hoping her words came out confidently enough.
"Are you new here?" he asked her a question instead of giving his order, his blue eyes boring into hers in an intense gaze that she couldn't rip herself from regardless of how hard she tried.
"I am. Arthur hired me a week ago," (Y/N) answered the question despite her apprehensions. There was just something about this guy that made her feel the need to answer to him.
"Arthur..." the man scoffed, shaking his head slightly, "did he ask for any background history on you?"
(Y/N)'s eyebrows furrowed at his question. Why would he care what her boss did or did not do during the hiring process? "Not really, no. He asked about any prior experience I had, but that was about it," and yet here she was still answering his questions.
"You have any prior experience?" he didn't let up.
"Very little. My great uncle had a winery. I helped him around the place when I was an early teenager."
"And you're from where?"
This question came completely out of nowhere. (Y/N) was starting to get confused by this man's motive. "You need to know that why?" she finally asked him a question of her own, her eyebrows raised slightly.
"Are you going to answer my question?" he deflected her once again, his eyebrows raising also as he held his intense stare on her.
"Bordesley. I moved there three months ago," she answered what he'd previously asked.
"You move there three months ago and you decide to make the trek into Small Heath and find work at this pub...?" the way he phrased his statement made it sound like he was asking her a question; like she was now in the middle of an interrogation.
She was starting to lose her patience with this man. Trying to control herself and remain professional, she said her words through gritted teeth, "there was an advertisement in the paper and I inquired about it. My boss liked me, so he gave me the job."
The man had nothing ready to say in response to her statement. He clicked his tongue off of the roof of his mouth and nodded his head, as if he was saying 'ah' nonverbally.
"Now do you want something to drink or are you going to continue playing twenty questions with me?" (Y/N) raised her eyebrows as she spoke once more.
"Whisky. Irish," he told her his drink order and she went to grab it, pouring him a glass before she set it on the counter in front of him. "Thanks," he nodded his head, placing two coins on the counter before he took his glass and left the bar.
"You didn't ask him to pay, did you, (Y/N)?" Harry came to her side almost as soon as the man was out of sight.
"No," (Y/N) shook her head with pursed lips, "he put the coins on the counter before I could even tell him how much it was."
"Whatever he drinks is on the house," he informed her, looking slightly relieved at the fact that she hadn't asked for the man to pay, which confused her greatly.
"There a reason behind that?" she couldn't help but ask.
"His company owns this pub. He bought me out about a year ago...gave the bar to his brother to run," Harry explained, then grumbling something about how this brother was incompetent and had no idea what he was doing.
A lightbulb went off in (Y/N)'s mind as she put the pieces together, "Arthur's his brother?" she asked, wanting to confirm that her inference was correct.
"Yes," Harry nodded, "his name's Tommy Shelby, and if you happen to see him again, whatever he wants is on the house. No questions asked," he stressed to her then. (Y/N) nodded her head. "I mean it, (Y/N)," Harry added for extra measure.
"I know, Harry," she responded with a sigh.
"Ok, well I say this because it seemed that you were asking quite a few questions to him just moments ago," he brought up the conversation that she had with the man who was newly named as Tommy Shelby.
(Y/N) suppressed a laugh when she heard what he said. "More like I was being subject to an on the spot interview," she corrected him.
"There's a reason to that," was all Harry said in response before he got himself busy with orders that were coming in.
"Are you going to tell me what it is?" (Y/N) asked after the older man had been quiet for a few moments.
"It's not my place," Harry shook his head. (Y/N) sighed and decided to drop the conversation there so that she could pick up the bucket and resume the task she'd been working on prior to all of this happening.
Tumblr media
At the end of a long day like this one, all (Y/N) wanted to do was go home. Unfortunately, she was tasked with cleaning and closing up the bar since Harry had to be somewhere with his family that evening.
She was alternating between sweeping the floor and placing the chairs up on the tables when there was a sudden knocking at the door. The sound made her gasp and look up from the floor. She stood, staring at the door as the knocking continued. Whoever was on the other side wasn't going to let up. So after a few more stunned seconds, she slowly made her way over to unlock the double doors at the front of the pub.
Another gasp left her lips when she saw who was standing outside. She didn't even realize that she hadn't spoken and was instead just staring up at him until he started talking, "can I come in?" he asked, looking past her into the empty pub.
"We're closed," she told him, momentarily forgetting what Harry had said to her earlier. He just gave her a wide-eyed look as he stood there expectantly. He was, obviously, expecting her to change her answer. They stood there like that for a few moments before (Y/N) let out a sigh and opened the door wider for him to enter the pub. "Can I get you something to drink, Mr. Shelby?" she asked then, thinking that maybe she should go about his arrival as if the pub was open and he was a normal customer.
"You've learned my name," he commented as he moved behind the bar before she could think of doing so. She watched as he grabbed a bottle and two glasses before he came back around to where she was standing.
"Harry told me that your company bought the bar off of him," she informed him, watching him hesitantly as he set the glassware down at one of the tables and waved her over to it.
"Come. Sit," he vocally called her over after she didn't spring at his first offer. It was only after he spoke that she finally moved, taking cautious steps over to the table he was now sitting at. She wouldn't have been so hesitant to sit down with him if he hadn't jumped down her throat with so many questions earlier. He then offered her a glass of whisky and she accepted it, holding it in her hands. It was now something that she could fix her eyes onto instead of him.
"Why did you show up here?" she finally asked after they'd been sitting in silence for a few moments.
"I had a feeling you'd still be around," he answered as he fished a pack of cigarettes out of his coat pocket. He stuck one between his lips and then struck a match to light it.
(Y/N) looked up at him after he answered, a hint of a glare on her face, "you wanted to ask me more questions, didn't you?" she accused him, starting to feel annoyance bubble up in her stomach as she thought back to how out of line he was earlier.
Tommy sighed, a cloud of smoke leaving his lips as he exhaled, "no..." he trailed off, shaking his head before he cleared his throat, "I wanted to come apologize."
(Y/N) wasn't expecting this. He came on strong to her for no reason earlier and she thought that he'd continue with that brash path when he showed up out of nowhere. She didn't expect that his purpose of coming to the closed bar would be to issue an apology. "Apologize?" she voiced her shock and confusion.
"Yes," he sighed again. It seemed like this was a rather hard feat for him to accomplish; like it was something he rarely did. "I realized that I might have been a little overbearing earlier."
"A little?" (Y/N) squinted as she took in his choice of words, "a little overbearing would be not knowing when to stop talking. You basically jumped down my throat with questions that you had no place to ask."
Tommy looked away from her for a moment, biting his tongue in an attempt to stop himself from saying the first thing he thought of. She wasn't in the wrong here. She had a reason to feel this way; to respond to him like this. She didn't deserve for him to be rude to her...again. "You'll have to forgive me..." he finally spoke again, trailing off into yet another sigh.
"Forgive you? Please do tell me why I'm needed to do that," she asked him to continue, leaning forward to place her chin on her hand as she waited intently for what he had to say next. Whatever it was needed to be good for her not to really blow up on him. He was walking a fine line now.
"The last barmaid who worked here...she turned out to be a spy," he informed her, then squeezing his temples as he tried to stop the memories of her from appearing once more. It'd been five months since she revealed her true identity to him, yet the time they spent together still felt like it happened yesterday.
(Y/N)'s anger slightly disappeared at his statement, and it took her a minute to think of a new way to approach this conversation. "And now you think that every barmaid that works here after her will be one too?" she decided to ask for more clarification. She was still trying to make her earlier encounter with him make sense.
"No," he answered simply, shaking his head.
"Then why the interrogation session?" she furrowed her eyebrows.
"I..." he trailed off, shaking his head slightly to show that he didn't approve of what he was going to say, "I fell for her. She found her way in and played on that in order to get the information her superior needed. I guess I just wanted to make sure your story was straight."
"Oh," was all she said in response to his confession. She didn't know what more to say.
"I wanted to ask you if you'd be interested in coming to dinner with me tomorrow," Tommy asked after a few moments had passed. He stared at her intently as he waited for her response, flicking the ash off of his cigarette before he brought it back up to his lips. "As a way to say I'm sorry," he explained his proposal further before she could get a word out.
She tried to stop her lips from curving upwards at his words. She didn't expect for him to go from interrogating her this morning to asking her out before the day was done. But she was also learning that Tommy Shelby was someone you couldn't expect certain things or responses from. She had already figured out that he was different than most men in that regard. And she'd be lying if she said that it didn't intrigue her.
"So in asking me for dinner, you're gonna hope that I'm not a spy?" she couldn't help but call back to what he just disclosed to her moments ago, her eyebrow quirked upwards as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"I guess I'll have to take my chances," he answered, a smirk forming on his face. He liked that she didn't give her answer outright. That she wasn't just falling at his feet. He could tell that she wasn't going to be won over so easily, and he had to admit it already: he was going to like the chase.
"Did you know that you don't even know my name?" she still didn't answer his question, and sent him yet another of her own. It was like the tables had turned now.
"I don't think that that's important," Tommy shrugged his shoulders. But he spoke again before (Y/N) could scoff and give him an emotionally charged statement, "your name's (Y/N)," he stated firmly, sitting back in his seat and almost mirroring her appearance. (Y/N)'s mouth dropped open slightly as he answered her question with his own knowledge. Maybe the tables hadn't turned. "You forget that I own this pub. Your employment records are on file," he explained his reason behind having the knowledge before (Y/N) could say anything.
They sat in silence then. (Y/N) was still recovering from her latest shock that was induced by Tommy Shelby, and Tommy was waiting to hear how she'd respond to his dinner offer. He hoped that he managed to make a believable enough pitch for her to accept.
"Where would you be taking me for dinner if I were to agree to what you're proposing?" (Y/N) asked then, the raised eyebrow expression still on her face.
"I was thinking somewhere elegant," he responded, leaning forward to grab his glass of whisky, "but of course, if you're more interested in something else, I wouldn't be opposed," he finished his statement before drinking the remaining contents of his glass.
"I have work tomorrow evening. Harry needs me here till close again," she brought up the last remaining roadblock that she could think of. At this point, she was hoping that he'd find a way to smooth that out as well. She was actually interested in his offer.
"You forget that I own this pub," her hopes were answered in his repeated phrase.
"So tomorrow night?" she checked with him.
"Tomorrow night," he nodded, "give me a chance to make things between us right." (Y/N) didn't exactly know what he meant by that, but she sure as hell was excited to find out.
Tumblr media
People cheered and offered their greetings as Tommy Shelby walked into the Garrison. He walked his way through the pub, shaking the hands of random men and saying his greetings to those that he knew.
Then he saw her at the bar. She was smiling widely as she served customers. Then she turned slightly and her eyes caught his. Her smile only widened. She quickly waved him over before attending to another patron at the bar.
By the time she was finished, Tommy was standing directly across from her at the bar. "Amazing turn out tonight," she commented, glancing around at the packed establishment before her eyes fell back on the man in front of her.
"Everyone's happy that the Garrison's back," he responded as a grin formed on his face. "I think it's because they've got the best barmaid in Small Heath servin' 'em."
"Tommy..." (Y/N) trailed off as she looked away from him in hopes that he wouldn't see her blush.
He didn't miss it though, nothing got past him. "It's true, love," he told her before he leaned forward over the bar and kissed her on the lips. His actions caught (Y/N) by surprise but she didn't shy away from him, instead returning the kiss with as much effort he put into it.
"'M proud of you, Tommy," she whispered against his lips, feeling as they curved up into a smile before he leaned in and kissed her one more time.
It was safe to say that the dinner Tommy offered to her helped him make things right between the two of them. After it, she agreed to another dinner, and then after a few more outings with the blue-eyed gangster, she agreed to be his girlfriend. She knew about his reputation; about the things he did. They didn't make her want him any less. She never saw the ruthless side of Tommy Shelby. He was always chivalrous towards her. They'd been together now for a little over a year, and she wouldn't have things any other way.
"Tommy!" Arthur's loud voice cut through all of the conversations, making him finally turn his gaze away from the beautiful woman in front of him. He did so just in time for his older brother to clap him on the back. "I see you've already found (Y/N)," he commented, sending a smirk in the woman's direction.
"I have. Now what is it you want? You're cutting into my time with her," he blatantly responded, making Arthur's eyebrows shoot upwards as he nodded.
"It's good to hear that then, brother, because I was gonna ask for you to take over behind the bar. I have to go mingle with guests...bein' the pub owner 'n all, ya know," the older man told him the reason why he'd come over.
Now Tommy's eyebrows were raised, "pub owner," he chuckled to himself as he moved around the side of the bar to stand next to (Y/N). "You're lucky you're my brother!" he said to Arthur as he pointed in his direction. Arthur just waved him off with a smile.
"Am I finally going to get the opportunity to tell the great Tommy Shelby what to do?" (Y/N) questioned in mock surprise as a grin formed on her face.
"Don't you already tell me what to do every day?" he countered with a grin of his own. (Y/N) clicked her tongue out of surprise, her mouth dropping open as she smacked his shoulder.
"I do not!" she disputed, her hands going to her hips then. Tommy just chuckled at her and shook his head.
They fell into a rhythm of serving customers then all while making jokes and trying to mess up what the other was doing. The smile didn't leave either of their faces for the entirety of the night.
The last thing that Tommy Shelby was looking for when he entered the Garrison just over a year ago was the person he'd come to love and cherish. He never could have expected that person to be a barmaid. He was happy he met (Y/N), because now he had the love of his life by his side, and he had no intentions of letting her go any time soon.
Carlos Reyes and that line “Typical TK. The first time he wants to talk to me in months and it’s because he’s in the ICU.” - A meta
A few things we know about Carlos:
Acts of service are his particular love language. We see it with all the people that matter to him.
Michelle and Marjan he makes sure he’s the person that arrests them for their causes, tries to keep them safe, advises them to maybe consider not getting arrested but he never gets in their way, not really. He shows up and takes care of them.
With the rest of the 126, who he’s come to love, Carlos hosts the hang outs. First this is a service for TK but it’s clear this becomes something that matters to him. And it’s not just like he lets everybody hang out-he provides food, he makes sure everyone is doing well. He also shows up to be part of the clean up crew for the 126. The only other non-house members to show are Grace (and Judd and Grace are goals) and Izzy and Evie.
We watch Tommy have to go to work in the wake of her husband’s death and Carlos shows up on his day off to go babysit Izzy and Evie. It is going to be a long shift babysitting but he ends up becoming “Carlos!” Above Uncle Judd.
Lastly, with TK, Carlos will drop acts of service at TK’s feet. There’s the dinner that goes horribly awry, that Carlos cooked to be ready at midnight. There is picking up TK’s arrest papers and processing him, and taking the time to clean off his face and make sure he’s alright in the wake of that awful dinner. Carlos hosts the 126 in his house. He shows up every time TK is injured. He waits up for TK in the aftermath of the volcano and Tim’s death and holds TK. He works through TK going missing in what is already a terrible day for Carlos and FINDS him. He sits through an awkward intervention for Owen for Tk. He shows up to tell TK to his face about Gabriel arresting Owen, knowing TK is going to freak out and shoot the messenger (with reason), because Carlos can go tell TK and be there for him (hopefully). He makes dinner after their fight and takes care of TK in the aftermath and then their house burns to the ground.
Carlos Reyes is also very good at hiding/burying his emotions to function and to get his father’s approval. Carlos is a master of appearing calm and collected in the midst of what are horrifying feelings. Does this make him good at his job, sure. Is it healthy, not really.
He does it with Michelle and Marjan where he’s clearly worried and is sarcastic and quippy with Michelle but isn’t going to put his feelings on them.
He spends his time with TK focusing on TK’s emotions and less on his own(again not healthy). He’s having the worst day in Bad Call and he buries every last bit of it to find TK when he’s missing. He buries his feelings when he goes to tell TK about Owen’s arrest and his dad’s part in it. We watch him hold everything in when TK is hurt, aside from love.
The only big slips we get are him yelling at Gabriel after his dad basically says Carlos has shit instincts as a cop and breaking down into silent tears after his house burns down. Neither of these are large emotional moments or particularly demonstrative. Rafa plays Carlos as so tightly
And because of the interaction with Gabriel, we learn that Carlos’s dad has always seen him as too soft. That his own emotions are not valid or wanted if they’re not the right ones. And he also refuses to process them. It strikes me that Carlos wore his heart on his sleeve as a kid and his father was not a fan. He just wants his dad to be proud of him.
Finally, when frustrated, Carlos gets sarcastic and quippy. He does it with Michelle when she’s focused on Iris and he wants to have her be a better friend. He does it with TK in the precinct while processing him. He gets that edge in his voice when he’s trying to figure out where things stand between him and TK in the aftermath of the shooting. He does it again when he and TK argue over the run in with his parents at the farmers market. When Carlos knows he made the right call in Bad Call and Gabriel knifes him in the heart, he gets sarcastic with his father. He pulls it out with Marj in the car after he arrests her and tries to get her to back down.
Care and concern and frustration rise Carlos buries it under sarcasm. He takes that tender heart sleeve and puts a bulletproof sheen over it, so no ones can see it shattering.
So when Nancy calls him to come and see TK in the hospital, his words are covering that big wounded heart. But the actions, his act of service is to stop in the middle of a shift, in the middle of a natural disaster when things are spread incredibly thin, and go see TK. He ignores dispatch calls and heads in because TK asked for him. TK wanted and needed him and Carlos dropped everything because the act of showing up for TK was more important than acts of service for his community that’s in peril. And all of the feelings of care and concern and terror and heartbreak get hidden under a sarcastic joke, because he thinks TK asked for him now, after everything and he doesn’t need anything to see how affected he really is.
His eyes when he realized that TK didn’t ask for him because TK cannot ask for anyone, well, Rafa’s eye acting ability is a whole other meta.
Life’s A Dance
Part II: The Twins
Tumblr media
Wanda Maximoff x Natasha Romanoff
Natasha learns more about Wanda and her family.
Note: Part 2 is here! I hope y’all enjoy!
WandaNat Masterlist, Main Masterlist
It has been two weeks now since Natasha started working for Wanda. Or as Wanda, ever the leader she is, calls it working along side of her. Even just after one class Wanda knew that Nat was amazing at dance and at teaching it. Especially the children’s classes that she so wonderfully offered to help Wanda with.
And that’s where Natasha finds herself waiting for Wanda now. She hadn’t seen Wanda when she came into work today, but she assumed she would show up by her class time. As the clock strikes five till five, she realizes that Wanda must not be coming.
“Okay class, let’s get stretched out!” Natasha says and she leads the kids into the class. It goes well as always and the kids get out of class exhausted but excited for next week.
Natasha makes her way to the front to leave for the night when she catches sight of Wanda’s office light on. This piques her interest, and she walks to the office.
“Hey Wan- nope you’re not Wanda,” Nat says as she sees Pietro sitting in her chair.
“Nope,” Pietro says with a smirk, but there is a certain seriousness in his eyes.
“Is Wanda alright? I know I’ve only known you two like two weeks, but she doesn’t seem like the type to miss work,” Natasha says, her voice is laced with concern.
“Yeah, she’s okay. Just some personal stuff, but she’ll be back tomorrow. I hope,” Pietro says with a sigh. Natasha nods and offers him a goodnight before she leaves.
It ends up being three days before Natasha sees Wanda again. And that’s when Wanda enters the studio late in the afternoon and with two young boys trailing behind her. One of the boys runs to Pietro while the other stays close to Wanda.
“Hey Wanda,” Nat greets the clearly flustered woman.
“Oh hey, sorry I haven’t been here in a few days,” Wanda says as she rounds the desk to put her things down.
“Pietro and I have held the fort down. And who’s this?” Natasha says, looking at the young boy who clings to Wanda like a shadow.
“Oh, this is my son, Billy. And his twin over there with Pietro is Tommy. Can you say hi to Miss Natasha, baby?” Wanda places a comforting hand his shoulder.
“Hi Miss Natasha,” Billy says sweetly, but shyly. He looks and sounds so much like Wanda.
“Hey Billy. You can call me Nat,” Nat says and offers him a soft smile.
“Okay boys, can you guys go play in the studio? Uncle P and I have a meeting with some investors,” Wanda asks them.
“Okay Mom,” Tommy says as he walks to her to give her a hug. “Hi, I’m Tommy,” he says to Nat and she smiles.
“You’re out for the night, right Nat?” Wanda asks her.
“Actually, I- uh I could stay and help with the boys,” Nat offers, and she sees the hesitation in Wanda’s eyes. “I mean so you could have your focus on the meeting and not worry.”
“Are you sure? You’ve been here all day I’m sure you are ready to get home,” Wanda says.
“I’m definitely sure.”
“Okay, boys please be good for Nat and if you need anything just knock on the door. I will leave the meeting if I need to, okay?” Wanda kisses both of their heads and flashes Nat a grateful smile.
She heads off into her office and the boys run to the studio room as Natasha follows them. The boys just kind of run around for a while until Nat asks them if they might want to learn some dance moves. She turns on some music and they dance around for the entire hour that Wanda is in her meeting.
Once her meeting ends, Wanda stands at the studio door and watches the boys dance around with Natasha. It warms her heart to see her boys having so much fun and she feels a deep longing in her chest for Nat to be the one who always brings them that happiness.
“Alright boys, it’s time to go,” Wanda says as she enters the room.
“Noooo,” Tommy pouts.
“Can we stay and play with Miss Nat a little longer?” Bill asks, he looks up at Wanda with pleading eyes.
“Not tonight, baby. But tell her thank you for playing with you,” Wanda replies, her voice stern but still gentle.
Both boys mumble a thank you to Natasha and she smiles.
“I’m sure I’ll see you again soon and we can work on some new moves. Sound good?” Nat asks them and both boys jump in excitement.
“Alright sladkiye mal'chiki, Uncle P will take you home, but I’ll be there soon,” Wanda tells them, and they hug her before leaving with Pietro.
“Thank you for watching them, Natasha,” Wanda says as they walk back towards the front.
“It’s no problem. They were great,” Nat says, and Wanda gets a sudden look of sadness in her eyes. Nat has always been a perceptive person, so she catches the change. “Are you alright?” she asks her, placing a soft hand on her arm.
Wanda looks away from her and takes a deep breath. Her hand runs through her hair at her exasperation.
“It’s just- they’ve been through so much. Their father, my husband, he passed away just over a year ago,” Wanda begins.
“Oh Wanda, I’m so sorry.”
“Thank you. It’s been really hard on them. This week I wasn’t here a few days because Tommy was acting out at school and got suspended. I know he is just reacting to his circumstances. And Billy- he has just gotten where he won’t leave my side. But tonight, with you, they were just so carefree,” Wanda explains.
“That’s the power of dance,” Natasha replies. “And they are great kids, Wanda. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but just know that you are an amazing mother and an amazing woman.”
“Hmm, I think it may just be the power of you Natasha,” Wanda says genuinely, and Nat feels a blush creep up her neck. Wanda smiles at her and as the air thickens around them and she speaks again. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow,” Natasha confirms.
As Nat drives home that night, she thinks about how much fun it was to dance around with the boys earlier. It filled a void in her heart that she didn’t even know was there. She decides she has to find a way to always make those kids happy. And their mother too.
i have the sudden desire to write an ellie/tommy bonding fic like i dont have a spreadsheet full of stories to write/finish first rip
just. tommy man. emotionally open (at least compared to joel), similarly traumatized, and probably longing for the chance to be an uncle again. he watches joel and ellie for two hours together and then decides that yep, his brother adopted this kid, they're bonded like two feral cats, and he has to make sure they don't scratch anyone who comes to close to death.
once ellie trusts him it's pretty much over for joel, tommy tells her all the embarrassing stories joel would never share, they bully him endlessly every time they're in the same room, and ellie feels an even deeper sense of belonging than before.
i feel like tommy would also be her go-to for things she is scared to talk to joel about (because if tommy hates her or doesnt like her she can cope but joel? nope. better check tommy's reaction first) or just stuff she doesn't want him to know but needs help with.
also ellie is incredibly physically affectionate with the people she likes and the second tommy lets her invade his personal space she claims it as her own, not as fully as she does with joel, but well enough for maria to find her napping with tommy on the couch after he showed her a movie joel didnt want her to see (probably some horror/gore/slasher thriller bc she might have grown up in the apocalypse but hell movie ratings still mean something, right?)
just. let tommy be an uncle. i need more of him and ellie bonding thats it thats the whole post. i have a vision and i need to fulfill it.
Okay this is just a small thing that you don't have to do, just an idea but like. What do you think their reactions would be to wolf hybrid!Child reader going Rabid on a skeleton that tried to hurt their dad.
I hope you enjoy! ♥
In Game, Reader is 10
Pairings:  Platonic! Parental! Tommy, Wilbur, Philza, Technoblade, Eret, and Dream x F! Child! Wolf Hybrid! Reader
Warnings: Fighting of Mobs
        TommyInnit
        Hyped
        Tommy loved bringing (Y/N) everywhere he went, much to everyone’s dismay her whole life.
        Their dismay lessened once (Y/N) was able to actually learn how to fight. With her added perks of being part wolf and her father being a decent fighter, she wasn’t half bad for only being ten.
        Today, the pair were out trying to get (Y/N) her first disc. Sure, she had her father’s she shared with him but she wanted her own, which made Tommy so proud of her. Together they struck out into the world and went searching for a few ruined temples and such.
        “We only got a few diamonds so far.” (Y/N) huffed, her ears flat on top of her head after they searched their third temple.
        “None of that now!” Tommy tried to cheer her up. “It took me ages to find my first disc. We’ll find one for you. And having a few diamonds isn’t too bad either! We can use them to try and scam a few items from people.”
        (Y/N)’s tail wagged at her father’s words. “Yeah! We’ll find one! And if you’re going to do more scams with Uncle Tubbo can I join?”
        “Of course! That’s the spirit!” He ruffled her hair between her ears as they went to find a new place to loot.
        Night was slowly creeping up on them when they found a new abandoned building.
        “Alright, it’s dark inside and it’s late. So, get your shield and sword ready.” Tommy told her.
        She nodded, taking her shield off her back as Tommy went in first, shield up and sword at the ready. Following in after him with her shield, her ears twitched as she listened. Tommy walked forward when (Y/N) heard the pulling off a bow. Before she could warn him, Tommy yelped as an arrow snagged his bandana and tore it as it went by.
         He whipped around to defend himself when (Y/N) snarled, launching herself into the skeleton.
        The monster was barely able to hold itself together and got no chance to respond to the attack as the child used her sword to cut off its head. Tommy stood in surprise as (Y/N)’s ears twitched and her tail straight as she growled tearing the rest of the bones apart.
        “Holy shit!” He exclaimed finally, (Y/N) jumping as she looked at him. “That was fucking awesome!”
        She knelt on the ground for a moment with a bone in her hand, watching him before grinning and her tail wagged quickly.
        “Really?”
        “Of course! My training for you has really worked!” He grinned as helped her up. “Let’s go own more shit!”
        “Yeah!” She bounced putting the bone in her hand in her bag to gnaw on later.
        Tommy had her listen first this time and together they took out any other mobs.
        In the end, Tubbo screamed as Tommy slammed his door open with (Y/N) on his shoulders, practically howling while holding a disc in celebration. It was just an average adventure.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Wilbur
        Worried but proud
        Oh look, Wilbur has another animal child, who would be surprised?
        After the war, L’Manberg had become a mostly peaceful nation. (Y/N) didn’t need to learn how to fight like her brother so he let her instead enjoy her other passions.
        It very much pleased Wilbur though that his little girl always still wanted to spend time with him. One of those days, the pair had been outside the walls. Wilbur had brought his guitar, strumming as he sang, while (Y/N) ran around to get her extra energy. The father hadn’t expected the storm clouds to roll in so fast but they did.
        The rain started to pour, (Y/N) screaming as she clung onto Wilbur as thunder boomed.
        “It’s alright little star.” He assured her as he quickly got up, putting his guitar on his back. “Let’s get back home.”
        She clung to his hand as they sprinted for the path and went for L’Manberg. He had carelessly not brought a weapon as he hadn’t expected to be out when monsters could come out. So, when a skeleton was in the path, he halted to a stop, looking for a quick escape before it noticed them.
        “This way—” Wilbur tugged (Y/N)’s hand but his eyes went wide as the arrow flew past his head. “Shit!”
        Before he knew it, (Y/N) had let go of his hand. He was too busy looking for a weapon to defend himself and his child when he noticed (Y/N) attacking the skeleton.
        “(Y/N)!” He yelped in panic as he rushed forward.
        Even without any experience, just pure instinct to protect her pack, she managed to take apart the skeleton. Wilbur pulled her from it, her big eyes looking at him with a bone in her mouth. She sat there for a moment before her eyes went wide, the bone dropping.
        “I’m sorry daddy!”
        Wilbur didn’t know what to say for a moment, the thunderclap breaking him from his thoughts as (Y/N) screamed, clinging onto him again. He took a new approach and scooped her up before sprinting instead for the Embassy. Tommy wasn’t in, so they were able to slip in. The man sighed with relief to be out of the rain, putting (Y/N) down.
        She shook the water out of her hair as she swished her tail to do the same. Wilbur took off his guitar, jacket, and hat, laying the objects on a chest as he ruffled his hair.
        “Alright, let’s get your jacket off and find something to dry off with,” Wilbur said, going for the back room.
        “I’m really sorry daddy.” She spoke before he stepped through.
        He stopped, remembering what happened. He looked back at her, her ears pointed back as she stared down at the ground with her hands behind her back and her wet tail on the floor. Coming over, he knelt in front of her, taking her shoulders, having her look at.
        “There’s nothing to be sorry about,” Wilbur told her, making one of her ears twitch. “You did good. I was extremely worried, yes. I was scared you would get hurt and I don’t want you to rush into danger again without a proper weapon, but I’m not angry or disappointed with you.”
        “I really did good?” She asked, her tail coming off the floor.
        “Yes, you did.” He smiled. “I’m proud you were able to think on your feet little star and protect us both. But, as I said, we’re not going to do that again without a weapon right?”
        “Yes sir, Mr. President.” She gave a giggle with a salute.
        He laughed as he kissed her forehead and ruffled her hair. “Now let’s get you dry.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Philza
        Would have taught her more control, proud
        (Y/N) laughed as Phil held her securely to him as they soared through the sky from the village they had just traded at.
        “You having fun darling?” He smiled at her.
        “Yes!” She cheered, her ears twitching madly in the wind. “This so much more fun than walking!”
        He laughed himself as he nodded. “It is. Like I said though, I can’t do this long, we’ll probably have to walk the rest of the way home.”
        “Aw ok.” She frowned but instead smiled and decided to enjoy the moment.
        Phil had promised the young girl when she was old enough, he’d start taking her one trading expeditions after he trained her up a bit. He did tend to stay out for long periods of time after all and usually saw mobs. It had come to that time and Phil personally trained her. As Phil had taught all three of his sons, teaching his fourth child was no work and (Y/N) picked it up quickly. He also helped her work on her wolf instincts just as he had with Techno with his piglin ones.
        Of course, it was precautional training. He wasn’t going to let her fight mobs so easily. There was little to no chance she’d have to fight anything; Phil was a master at avoiding mobs and taking them out with ease as he only had one life left to his name and had to be extra careful.
        As night was starting to set in, Phil landed as his wings took as much as they could.
        “Alright, stay close to me darling.” He told her as he took off his shield and sword as a precaution.
        She nodded, her ears perked up and listening carefully to help her father as she had her own gear out. Together, they walked through the snow towards their home, Phil ahead of (Y/N) as she was close to his back. As they were close to the edge of their property, (Y/N)’s right ear twitched at the sound of a bowstring in the distance. Quickly, she turned and held up a shield in front of her father’s back, an arrow giving a loud THUNK as it hit the wood.
        Phil jumped at the noise, whipping around just as (Y/N) dashed forward and used her sword to strike the skeleton with ease. He rushed over as the skeleton tried to recollect itself and gave a final blow to it.
        “Come on,” Phil told her as her tail swished and she growled lightly. “We’re almost home.”
        She followed Phil again and from there they got home safely. He sighed in relief as he laid down his weapons, (Y/N) laying hers down beside him. Looking at his daughter, he patted her head between her ears smiling.
        “Good job kiddo. You really had my back.”
        Her tail wagged eagerly as she smiled. “I learned from the best.”
        He laughed as he nodded. “Guess you did. We got to work on you not rushing in head first though ok?”
        “Ok.” She nodded with determination.
        “That’s my little angel.”
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Technoblade
        Proud
        (Y/N) was the daughter of the Blood God!
        The second she could hold a sword on her own, she wanted to learn everything she could just to be like her father. Techno was glad to teach her as he wanted to make sure if his enemies ever found her, she could defend himself and he did tend to exploit her wolf abilities in some dangerous places, so not having to watch her constantly was good too.
        Today was any other day. A bit of training between the two, trading a bit with a village, minor terrorism in the Dream SMP land.
        “So, what did we learn today?” Techno asked as he led her across the bridge in the Nether to the home portal.
        “Grandpa doesn’t let us have fun?” She questioned as she looked at him.
        Techno threw back his head in laughter at that. Phil had convinced Techno not to do a few of his crimes, much to the pair’s disappointment.
        “I was looking for more we keep better track of our invisibility, but grandpa not letting us have fun is true too.” He grinned.
        (Y/N) wagged her tail as Techno went through the portal first, (Y/N) a few seconds behind. He frowned at the night sky, taking his axe off his belt as he saw a few scattered mobs in the snow.
        “Guess we were in the Nether too long,” Techno said. “Stay close to me. We’re going to make a run for the house.”
        “Ok.” She nodded as she took off her sword just as a precaution.
        “Three, two, one, go!” He told her before the two of them sprinted across the snow.
        They had piqued the interest of a few zombies but they were much too fast for them. As they got close to the house, an arrow snagged itself into Techno’s cape. He stopped and went to turn with a full axe swing but didn’t get the chance as a snarl filled the air. Looking, he saw (Y/N) slashing through the skeleton with ease then tore it apart with her own hands.
        He was impressed but there were mobs around. So, grabbing her by the arm, he dragged her away, forcing her to run with him again as she growled still at the now-dead skeleton.
        “Come on killer.” He told her with a proud smirk.
        “It tried to hurt you.” She huffed as they finally slowed down on the porch.
        “Yes, but what do we say?” He looked at her.
        “Technoblade never dies!” She threw up her arms with a grin and he smiled as well as he ruffled her hair as he opened the door.
        “That’s right. You did well out there, little goddess, we need to work on your form though and that was a bit overkill.”
        She pouted. “Ok.”
        He chuckled patting her head. “But I’m proud of you regardless.”
        That made her smile again as Techno took off his cape to fix it. As he did the voices were chanting.
        Blood Child! Blood Child! Blood Child!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Eret
        Worried
        (Y/N), as a wolf hybrid, had an excessive amount of energy that Eret was just not able to keep up with sometimes. So, he’d let her go off on her own with Tommy, the two usually able to work both of their excessive energy out without any possible danger as Eret made Tommy promise him.
        It had been one of those days and Eret was waiting by the castle gate, worry starting to seep into him as the sun was starting to set.
        “Damn it, Tommy.” He muttered under his breath before going back inside the castle for a moment.
        Coming back out and starting to walk down the path, now he had a sword strapped to his belt as he made his way to Tommy’s. As he got to the fenced area, he heard the sounds of (Y/N)’s laughter as Tommy was yelling out profanities. Going in and to the door, he knocked on Tommy’s door. Swinging it open, Tommy stood there with a scowl on his face.
        “You’re both late,” Eret told him.
        “Shit, is it really that late?” Tommy’s eyes went wide at the setting light. “I got to meet up with Wilbur!”
        He went back inside as (Y/N) came over, seeing her father, a guilty look on her face seeing the fading light.
        “Sorry, dad.”
        “It’s alright sweetie. Let’s get home before it gets too dark. Stay safe Tommy!” He called as (Y/N) came to Eret’s side.
        The two walked down the Prime Path as the sun set full set.
        “You’re not mad?” (Y/N) asked.
        “No princess, I understand you were having fun. I was just worried and I knew I had to come to get you. Tommy’s a good fighter but I don’t think he could protect two people.” Eret explained calmly to her.
        “Well, I’m sorry I worried you.”
        “It’s alright, let’s just get home safe.” He smiled at her.
        The castle was just in sight, making Eret feel relief that they’d get there without seeing a single mob, but he jinxed himself. As they stepped out of the gate from the Community House, an arrow flew by his arm. He jumped in surprise, pulling his sword as he went to grab (Y/N) to pull her behind him, but only grabbed air.
        Looking around in a panic, he saw his little girl tackling the skeleton on instinct and starting to pull it apart with her hands.
        “Princess.” He said quickly as he went over and pulled her off the mob as she growled. “It’s alright. Calm down.”
        “It tried to hurt you!”
        “I understand sweetie, but you should have let me handle it alright?”
        She huffed but nodded. “Alright.”
        He helped her up and smiled as he ruffled her hair. “Thank you for being my knight instead princess but I promise I got it.”
        “Ok, dad.” She agreed as they went home to the castle without any more problems. “…can you teach me how to fight though?”
        “If you want to princess. We’ll figure it out.”
        “Thank you, dad.” She smiled.
  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Dream
         Proud but Worried
        “Got you!” (Y/N) howled as she tackled George, who in turn screamed.
        Dream laughed as he came over to them putting his wooden sword on George’s chest. They were playing a game of Manhunt and Dream had (Y/N) on his team naturally. With that, she was able to use her wolf senses to win with ease. Dream actually had to do very little but defend her. Sure, he trained her but there was a large training curve between her and everyone else.
        “We win again.” Dream told him.
        “This is no fair,” George whined. “(Y/N) can hear everything.”
        “You guys practically stomp around the forest.” (Y/N) grinned as she jumped up, her tail wagging rapidly.
        “Now don’t be too mean to your uncle.” Dream laughed, ruffling her hair.
        “I’m going to guess George lost too.” Sapnap came over to the group.
        “Dad and I are the best team!” (Y/N) threw up her hands, making Dream grin as he moved his mask from his face.
        “What told you? The scream?” Dream teased George now.
        George grabbed Dream, trying to tackle him but Dream managed to swing it back and pin George to the ground. The goggled man huffed at his second defeat as (Y/N) cheered.
        “Alright, let’s get home you two idiots.” Dream chuckled as he helped George up.
        The sun was close to setting and they were in the forest. The two other men agreed with Dream and everyone started walking.
        “Can we play again tomorrow?” (Y/N) asked Dream with eagerness, her tail still wagging.
        He laughed, nodding. “Sure. But why don’t you try and find me tomorrow with your uncles?”
        “But I like your team.” She pouted.
        “I’m honored sweetheart, but we have to make your uncles think they’re good too.” He whispered but loud enough for the others to hear.
        “Alright! You listen here Dream!” Sapnap stopped to argue with his friend, making Dream laughed.
        (Y/N) was giggling as the three were playfully arguing with each other but she frowned as her ear twitched hearing a sound in the forest. It sounded like…bones?
        Then she heard the bowstring and her eyes went wide.
        “Look out!” She shouted, startling everyone, giving them enough time to move as the arrow just flew past Dream’s face.
        “Holy shit!” Dream exclaimed in surprise.
        Before anyone could react, there was a snarl and the three saw the little girl tearing the skeleton apart.
        “Yo! You show it (Y/N)!” Sapnap cheered.
        “Shut up. Alright, sweetheart.” Dream came over, pulling her off. “You got it.”
        She huffed at the pile of bones before looking at her dad. “Are you ok daddy?”
        He smiled lightly as he nodded, patting her head as he crouched in front of her. “I’m fine, you warned me just in time.”
        “Good.” She grinned, her tail wagging.
        “But I don’t want you to do something like that again ok?” He looked at her seriously. “You got it, but you went way over of what you needed to.”
        She frowned, confused. “What do you mean?”
        “It was dead, but you kept going. That’s serious stuff. Sapnap was wrong to encourage you. I’m proud you got it, but you need to keep your control, ok?”
        She nodded slowly. “Ok. I think I understand.”
        He smiled again, kissing the top of her head. “Good. Now let’s get home before anything else catches us.”
        With that, the four went home, pride definitely in his chest but he would make sure his daughter understood her anger.

Going off my last post, I really wish the DSMP fandom would look more into different kinds of relationships besides just plain old romance. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for pining and fluff, but god I want so much more. So here’s some dynamics that aren’t romantic but aren’t fully platonic either. Not even in the middle, just sort of. Label-less. Now I will clarify once again for those who lack common sense, this isn’t shipping in any way shape or form. Multiple CCs mentioned have said they’re uncomfortable with it, and that may translate to their characters, although I’m not quite sure. This is all characters, not creators. Shit’s wack, yo.
Phil and Techno
I said on my last post that I MUCH prefer their characters’ relationship to be looked at as queerplatonic. It makes so much sense to me.
Two demigods growing old together, not friends, not husbands. They are each other’s person, two halves of a whole.
Wilbur and Tommy never really knew what Techno was to them growing up. He wasn’t a brother figure, or a father, or an uncle or a friend. He was all and none at the same time. That’s the SBI dynamic I prefer.
It also ties back into the aroace headcanon I have for c!Techno.
Wilbur and Schlatt
It’s like enemies to lovers except enemies to enemies with platonic benefits.
It’s literally just No Children by The Mountain Goats that’s it that’s their whole relationship.
God, it’s rocky. It came from being forced to survive together, thinking they were the last ones left in the world when the skies rained floods and lava rose. They settled on working together, but fuck they hated each other.
Don’t picture c!Schlatt and c!Wilbur in their underwater house, with Schlatt finally breaking under the pressure, thinking that they’re gonna die miserable. Wilbur leans foward to put his hand on Schlatt’s shoulder, but Schlatt hugs him. It was the only time Wilbur saw Schlatt cry.
Years later, they parted ways. Schlatt shows up again, and they initially rekindle the subtle hatred. But then Schlatt takes everything Wilbur ever loved, ever fought for. And Wilbur realizes he feels betrayed, and he struggles so much with the fact that he may have cared for Schlatt more than he really knew.
Ranboo and Tubbo
God yes!!!! Canon queerplatonicism!!! Can you tell how much of a sucker I am for qp?
It makes me so happy to see it portrayed in such a positive light, too. Like they’re married but not romantically!! They just feel that strongly towards each other!! Marriage don’t gotta be romantic and they prove that!!
They have a son I’m crying.
Dream, George and Sapnap (also Karl and Quackity)
They’re homies but also a little bit in love! They act like friends but have the benefits of cuddles and kisses in a way that isn’t completely platonic nor romantic.
Quackity and Karl wholeheartedly support Sapnap’s homie kissing endeavours, even sometimes getting in on the cuddle puddle.
Fuck it, all five of them are more or less ambiguous towards each other. They’re best friends but also they all flirt but some of them are engaged to each other but they still all try to sleep in the same bed for some reason.
Dream big spoon for his boys 🥰.
That’s all for now but if I find more that strike my fancy, I will add on in the rbs!

You didn’t remember much when the two of you first arrived in Westview. But you were with Peter and he seemed to know where he was going so you felt fine about it. You were ecstatic when the two of you walked up to the door and Wanda answered it. You’ve always wanted to meet Peter’s sister and now that you were, you felt like you were in a dream. Actually the whole time you’ve been in Westview has felt like a dream.
“You alright baby?” Peter’s voice breaks you out of whatever trance you were in and you look at him.
“Yeah, I’m good just lost in thought I guess, sorry.”
“You’re fine dear.” Wanda speaks as Peter wraps an arm around your shoulders and Vision comes down with a blanket and some pillows. “I uh, hope the couch will be fine for the two of you. The spare room still isn’t ready; we weren’t exactly expecting company.”
“The couch will be just fine Wanda.”
“Yeah sis, just gives us an excuse to be pressed against each other all night.” Wanda scoffs at Peter before bidding the two of you a goodnight.
“She’s nice.” You tell Peter as the two of you settle down to sleep.
“Yeah. I’m glad the two of you get along.” He yawns and kisses the top of your head as he pulls you into his chest.
In the morning you wake up well before Peter like normal. Though it was more the afternoon than the morning, you may always wake up before your boyfriend but you did end up adopting his poor sleep schedule. You lay next to him relishing in his warmth for a while before getting up and making your way into the kitchen for some cereal. Tommy comes down first and heads to the kitchen before Billy comes down dressed in a costume.
“Halloween’s a magical holiday. All about family, friends, and the thrill of getting to be someone else for a day.” You think that he’s speaking to you at first but very quickly realize it’s like he’s talking to an imaginary audience. Your eyebrows scrunch together in confusion as you watch him from your spot on the couch at Peter's feet. You shake your head assuming it was just a kid thing and pick up your bowl to put it in the sink. “Where’s your costume Tommy?”
“This is my costume. I’m the cool twin.”
“Then what does that make me?”
“Hmm, a dorkasaurus rex.” You hold in the chuckle that wants to escape as the joke seems to fly over Billy’s head as he tells his twin that it's not a real dinosaur. You high five Tommy when Billy leaves the kitchen with a smile before he follows his brother. The two of them bicker about Billy being scared of Peter not realizing that they’ve woken him up.
“Blood is thicker than water! I show you!” You laugh as you watch Peter chase the kids around from the kitchen doorway. When Wanda comes down the stairs complaining about the noise you walk over to them and take your place next to Peter, who immediately wraps an arm around you bringing you closer to him.
“I’m a Sokovian fortune teller.”
“Wow. That is so…lame.” You elbow him in the ribs when his statement causes Tommy to change his own from rad to lame.
“I think you look great! If you didn’t have a husband I’d leave this doof and try getting with the better twin.” Wanda blushes slightly and laughs at your words.
While Peter and Wanda talk about old Halloween’s you follow the twins to the couch to play video games with them. When Billy starts to talk to the invisible audience once more you look at him confused again before looking to see if Tommy noticed it too but he’s either too focused on the game or doesn’t see anything weird about it. Peter makes his way over eventually chuckling at something that happened. You give him your spot on the floor and sit behind him on the couch.
“Hey babe you wanna go get 4 sodas from the fridge and we’ll teach these rugrats how to shotgun?” You just shrug and nod before getting up. “Get out of here, get out of here.” Peters trying to slap Tommy’s controller out of his hands to distract him as you juggle the four cans to the couch. You hand them out to the three boys before taking your spot again. Peter makes the holes in the bottom of their cans so they don’t hurt themselves trying and goes to do it for you just to find yours already done. “Alright when I give the signal you bring the hole to your mouth and open the can.” He makes sure they understand before exclaiming a ‘go’. Wanda and Vision soon start to fight and Billy once again speaks to the audience and Peter and you share a look after he scrunches his eyebrows up and looks to see if Tommy’s reacting.
You must have zoned out after that though because the next thing you know Peters scaring Wanda at the door and Visions gone. When did they talk about shaving cream in water balloons you find yourself wondering as you overhear the conversation. It must’ve just happened when you were in your head again.
“You don’t even have a costume.” Peter scoffs and then speeds off somewhere with Tommy to return in matching costumes that go with his power perfectly. “If I see any funny business, I am going to magic you into a pickled herring.”
“Y/n I got you a costume too!” Peter speeds in front of you and drops a bag in your lap.
“What is it?”
“Just go put it on.” He pulls you to your feet and starts to push you towards the stairs. You can’t help but laugh after you get into the bathroom and open the bag up to find a Poison Ivy costume. Once you finish putting it on you notice part of an ivy plant still in the bag with a note from Peter reading ‘To make it more realistic ;)-P’.
“Are you boys ready?” Wanda’s voice greets your ears as you make your way back downstairs.
“Yeah mom.” The twins speak at the same time and rush up to their mom who places her hands on their shoulders.
“Pietro, you better not be bringing any shaving cream filled water balloons!” You don’t dwell long on the fact that Wanda’s been calling him Pietro, he’s already told you that when he and his mom moved to the states she had him start going by Peter. And now only his family really calls him Pietro even though they’ve gotten into the habit of using Peter instead.
“I’m not! See empty handed.” The sound of your laughter as Peter appeared in front of the family holding his hands out as proof drew all of their attention to you. “You look great babe. I dig the crown thing you’ve got going on.” You had decided to grow the ivy around your head and then around the rest of your body randomly from there.
“Thanks.” You blush a bit at the attention as you join the four of them in front of the door.
“Woah aunt Y/n, who are you supposed to be?” Tommy asks as he takes in all the green.
“Have you guys really never seen a Batman show or read the comics? She’s Poison Ivy also known as Mother Nature, it fits Y/n a lot considering her power.”
“Her power?” Wanda asks as Billy asks you what it is.
“I can control plants.” You shrug it off because it’s not a big deal, there were plenty of cooler mutations than yours anyway (even if Peter would yell at you for thinking that).
“That’s so rad!” Peter high fives Tommy in agreement excited that his nephew likes it as much as he does.
“How did you get it?” Before you can tell Wanda that you were born with it, Peter gives her some bogus story that’s really similar to Poison Ivy's origin story. You’re confused because it doesn’t make sense for him to lie about it but you don’t have a chance to correct him before he’s taking your hand and pulling you out of the house to ‘get this party started’.
You watch smiling as Tommy and Billy race from house to house to see who can get the most candy and tune into what Wanda and Peter were talking about in time to hear him say she’s testing him. Why would she be testing him, for what?
“Hey, it’s cool. I know I look different.”
“Why do you...look different?” Look different? You turn to really study and look at Peter to try to see what she means. The only thing that’s different is that his hair is more blonde but that’s about it, it’s not some major change or anything. When the twins come back ready to keep moving down the street Peter brings you into a side hug and places a kiss on your temple before running with them to get more candy. Though you notice that Billy holds onto Tommy and Peter doesn’t even try to hold onto the backs of their necks. What happened to whiplash?
As everything starts to feel off to you and you try to figure things out your head starts to feel hazy and it’s like your body goes on autopilot as you strike up conversation with Wanda. It’s like an out of body experience as you basically just watch the conversation happen without knowing what’s being said. You feel so lost and empty right in this moment and it only fades a little when Wanda starts to talk to someone else. You don’t fully snap back into it until Peter laces his hand in yours again.
“Pete,” you say to him when Wanda and the kids walk ahead of you, “I feel strange.”
“What kind of strange?” He places a hand on your forehead to check if you’re warm. “You don’t have a fever. Are you queasy? Do you wanna go back to the house?”
“No, it’s not that I feel sick. I just, I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like a prisoner in my own body.”
“I think I know what you mean. It happens very suddenly right? And then something snaps you out of it and you feel better?”
“Yeah that’s it.”
“Uncle P are you coming?” Tommy’s voice pulls the two of your attention to them and Peter plasters a smile on his face.
“Sure am little dude, just had to tell your aunt how hot she looks again!” He pulls you behind him as he catches up with his family. The five of you make your way to the town square scare as it starts to become night.
“It’s so lame that you’re making them return the candy.” Peter says after a moment of silence passes from when Wanda scolded the twins for stealing it in the first place.
“I can’t believe what a bad influence you are?” You start to think about her words, you know it’s been a while since they’ve seen eachother but surely this is what Peter acted like growing up. It’s definitely how he’s acted the whole time you knew him.
“It’s what you wanted isn’t it?”
“What happened to your accent?”
“What happened to yours?” You watch as they seem to have a mini showdown challenging the other. “Details are fuzzy, man. I got shot like a chump on the street for no reason at all and next thing I know I hear you callin me. I knew you needed me.” His words don’t sit well with you, they don’t sound right but something in the back of your head makes you trust them.
“Uncle P, guess what?” The twins run up and semi break the tension in the air with their excitement.
“They’ve got full size candy bars a few blocks up. Can we go Mom?” Tommy then speeds away and comes back with some of the bars in his hand. You and Peter look at eachother shocked and you can see the excitement on his face that his nephew has the same power as him.
“Right on, little dude! Chip off the old Maximoff block. You got super speed!”
“I do?”
“Yeah!” The two of them high five with big excited smiles on their faces and you stand back with an adoring one. Peter may be a bad influence but he’s really just so good with kids. When Tommy starts to speed around whooping in joy you step closer to Peter and wrap your arms around his stomach smiling up at him.
“If you’re gonna break the sound barrier at least take your brother with you.”
“Really?”
“Yes really. And please just remember-”
“Don’t go past Ellis Avenue. We know mom.” After the twins run off and Wanda yells after them to be careful the three of you continue on your way to the town square where kids are running rampant and hay bales have been set up.
“This is so nice.” You say as you look around.
“Isn’t it?” Wanda responds and smiles over at you.
“Damn it, if Westview, New Jersey isn’t charming as hell.”
“I know that you guys must think that I’ve gone full soccer mom. But it really is nice right?” The three of you sit down on one of the hay bales in the center of town square. You smile and agree with her as Peter brings your legs over one of his and squeezes your thigh.
“I think mom and dad would’ve loved it.” You want to speak up and ask if Wanda knew about Erik but suddenly you couldn’t speak, it was like your lips were being forced closed. You started to feel that sense of being a prisoner again and as if he could sense your panic Peter squeezes your thigh again as he and Wanda talk about the kids in Westview. “I’m impressed seriously, it’s a big upgrade from giving people nightmares and shooting red wiggly woos out of your hand.” Leave it to Peter for being impressed when his family members do something people consider wrong. “I’m not some stranger, and I’m not your husband. You can talk to me, and Y/n too. She’s one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.”
“I don’t know how I did it. I only remember feeling completely alone. Empty. I just...endless nothingness.” She looks away and sniffles a bit before looking back over and gasping while covering her face.
“Are you okay?” You finally find your lips free in time to worry about Wanda and ask if she’s alright.
“I’m fine.”
“Uh huh.” Peter glances over at you as he hums not believing her.
“Mom!” The twins then rush over with Billy yelling for her over and over again.
“What is it Billy?”
“I hear dad in my head. He’s in trouble. I don’t understand. What’s happening to me?”
“I think Billy might have powers too.” You whisper to Peter as the two of you get up and walk over to the trio.
“Where is he? Where’s your dad?”
“Hey, don’t sweat it sis. It’s not like your dead husband can die twice.” Wanda’s quick to force him into the fake graveyard after he speaks.
“Oh my god!” You run over to Peter as Wanda’s attention goes back to her kids.
“God why did I say that?” Peter’s rubbing his head when you make it to him.
“Peter, Peter I think we should go.” You see Wanda getting ready to use her power again before looking back at Peter. “Now!” He grabs onto you and runs back to Wanda’s street. The hold that was in your mind is gone now and you can remember getting pulled into this city before not remembering anything. “Shit, Peter I don’t think we belong here.”
“I think you’re right baby. Let’s find a way out of here.”

Ranboo's POV
It was a normal day for Ranboo, he had done some mining earlier that day, but something still just felt… wrong. He couldn't put his finger on it. As he heads his way home he sees Tommy in the distance.
"Hey Tommy, what are you doing out in the cold!" I shout jogging at him. There is going to be a snowstorm later, I don't want Tommy to be caught in it, that would be very dangerous and I wouldn't be a good friend if I abandoned him.
Turning around I gasp, his lips are purple and his nose is almost black with frostbite, "S-sorry Ranb-boo I g-got an l-little lost-t." He stutters out.
"Oh my come in, you need to warm up," I say, picking Tommy up as he starts to go limp. I will have to talk to Tubbo about this later. Rushing towards the house, I quickly open the door and set Tommy on the couch next to the fireplace. Running around trying to find warm things and lighters. Finally finding a match, I light the fireplace. Running upstairs to get some blankets, I find them and scramble back downstairs. I make sure Tommy is comfortable, I feel bad. Everyone is living lavish lives and the youngest of us all is out here dying alone. Getting the blankets around Tommy and the fire roaring as hot as I could make it, I start to boil some water for hot chocolate when he wakes up. Hearing a clicking of paws behind me I look around.
"Papa, why are you running around?" I hear my son ask.
"Well a dear friend of mine is in trouble right now and I needed things to help him." I try to explain without my voice shaking too much.
"Where is dad?" Michael asks. Looking around I realize Tubbo should've been home by this point.
"I'm not sure, would you like to look for him?" I say, not thinking straight, rushing to make sure Tommy doesn't die.
"Ok bye bye Papa."
"Bye sweety," I say, grabbing some more blankets.

Michaels POV
Papa seemed busy, but he did say I could look for Dad. Looking through Papa and Dad's room I don't see anything. Oh, what is that? I grab it. It's pretty I will show Papa later. Grabbing my stuffed cow Uncle Tommy gave me I wandered around trying to find Dad. I make it to the basement. Papa and Dad always said not to go down here… but Dad also said I could find Papa. Climbing down the latter I make it to the basement. Looking around the rows of chests I see Papa, he is on the ground. Oh well, I'm tired, maybe he was just tired too. Snuggling up with Papa's arm over me I fall asleep.
-
3rd Person POV
When Tommy is in a stable condition Ranboo is looking around for Michael.
"Michael?" He says, looking around the house. He said he was going to find Tubbo where could he have gone, right as he thinks this he notices the open trapdoor to the basement. Furrowing his eyebrows he goes down the latter, "Michael?" He calls again. Peeking around the row of chests he sees Micheal with Tubbo on the ground. Panic strikes his heart when he sees that Tubbo is looking the same way Tommy was when Ranboo found him. Rushing to the pair he checks Tubbo's pulse. It is weak but there. Picking up both Tubbo and Michael, he scrambles up the ladder. Getting to Ranboo and Tubbo's room he sets Tubbo down gently, scooping Michael out of Tubbo's reach he thinks to himself, how did this even happen? It's not cold in the basement, how could Tubbo have almost died. And the same way Tommy almost did, seems too much of a coincidence. Getting the heating blanket out and resting it on Tubbo. He runs to set Michael in his room. Grabbing Tommy on the way back, he sets Tommy on the bed with Tubbo. Getting them as warm as possible, he pulls out his communicator. Dialing Techno and Phil.
"Hello," Techno says.
"Hey mate what's up." Phil chimes in
"Something is happening and I don't know what I need your help please as fast as you can!" I speak in a hushed rush, afraid to wake the boys.
"Woah slow down mate, what's happening?!" Phil says concerned for the monochromatic man.
"Please just hurry," Ranboo says, dropping the communicator to the floor, and rushing back to Tommy and Tubbo. Their condition is getting better… I think?
Over with Phil and Techno who are both equally confused and worried, already on their way over.
Making it to the young couple's house, they knock furiously on the door.
"Shhh, come in hurry," Ranboo says, opening the door.
The two look at each other briefly before walking in.
"This way," Ranboo says, motioning towards his shared bedroom. The others gasp at the sight. Both boys laid on the bed noses black at this point but slowly turning purple. A good sign?
"What happened," Phil says, concerned about the boys who were like his family.
"I found Tommy wandering outside, he didn't even have anything protecting him from the cold. And when I thought Tommy was stable I went to look for Michael who was looking for Tubbo when I wasn't watching. Tubbo was passed out on the ground in the basement." He explains, grabbing more logs for the fireplace.
"How did this even happen? They would've found help before it got too bad!" Phil says exasperated.
"Yes Tommy may be dumb but not stupid," Techno adds, equally confused. I taught him how to survive when he was younger he couldn't have forgotten.
"I'm not sure everything should've been fine. I'm not sure what's happened. I just need your help for now, until we can figure this out.
"Of course, I will call up Niki because she is better at taking care of people. Techno, you make sure they don't die. Ranboo, rest a little we don't want anything happening to you." Ranboo nodding his head goes to Michael's room to rest with his son, after being so stressed. Techno sets his cape on the ground, bringing a chair over at the end of the bed. Watching over them closely, every flinch of Tubbo's ram ears to the flick of Tommy's fluffy raccoon tail. Phil left for the porch, calls up Niki.
"Niki? Are you here?" Phil asks, his frozen breath escaping his mouth as he talks.
"Yes, is there something the matter Phil?" Niki replies, her voice hinted with worry.
"You know things about the creatures of the SMP… right?"
"Yes… do you need me to look at something?" She hesitantly asks.
"Something happened to Tommy and Tubbo. I think you should take a look. We are at Ranboo and Tubbo's house?"
Phil hears shuffling from the other line and hears. "On my way." Coming from Niki.

Y/n's POV
Floating overhead I see Dream make his way to the egg and Niki to the cabin.
"Good, When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth, and here I am. Soon I will make everything better."
