[part 2 of Liu Jing, the loyal apprentice].
*cringe warning?
-
Sneak Peak(bits and pieces).
-
“Thank you..” said Jing, quite out of breath. “You are welcome,” smiled the man in front of her. He twirled a flute in his hand. Jing’s eyes widened at the sight of the man’s face. ‘WeiWuxian?!’
This is…Jing is in Mo Dao Zu Shi!
***
“Good morning, Master Wei.” Greeted Jing with a nod. Currently, she was stirring a pot; one that WeiWuxian didn’t know what was in it. “Eh-good morning..what are you doing?” He asked. Jing broke her gaze from the pot, her blue eyes now looking at him. “Making breakfast? ..Are you not hungry?” She asked politely. WeiWuxian’s eyes sparkled.
Tumblr media
“Ah! A meal? For me?” He asked; a smile on his lips. “For both of us,” Jing replied, going back to stirring the pot. “Oh-yes of course.”
***
“Master Wei!” Jing cried; her hand stretched out the try to grab onto his robes. She was held back by the Wen men. “Now, what to do with you?” Chuckled WenChao.
***
Jing hugged LanWanji/Zhan tighter, her tears spilling faster as the event played over in her mind. She had escaped and run of to the Cloud Recesses, but it had taken a long while and she was exhausted. “LiuJing? LanWanji/Zhan called. “What is wrong?” She sobbed harder, staining his robes with her tears. Jing breathed in and out, her mind going blank as exhaustion toke over her. She fell limp. “LiuJing!”
***
Jing cried in her sleep. “Master Wei..” she whispered as she shuffled around. LanWanji/Zhan stood near the window, his face ever so slightly hardened. “WeiYing..we’re are you?”

Hope you like it.

Ur the untamed character designs are making me go insane hsjsjsjsks they are incredible and fit the characters so well while emphazising the differences visually.
I would absolutely LOVE to see the girls genderbent in ur style like u did with the boyos????? Feel free to ignore of course 😁
Thanks for putting ur art Out there!!
Yanli would be very cute as a little no-fighter cook older brother, but there's already sparse selection of ladies and i was kinda sleeping on most of them :') madam Yu just makes such a good lady that genderbending her would just make for more dominant and taller jiang cheng lol they're too similiar. though i guess that'd depend on if im doing modern or canonical looks  okay but lady wenchao having this servant-made-important boytoy is a very fun idea. wen qing as a medic lad is also quite tempting OvO we'll see we'll see, i'm very busy now but i may do these eventually, i love re-designing characters so much

Chapter 52, silent reading. It's dark af crime descriptions below the cut. Incidentally when I first thought wow priest can really write horror. Well, it's interesting to note on the side, that SO much of Fei Du's behavior isn't his usual mode. It seems to be emulating Luo Wenzhou in his mind of the "condescending cop who thinks you're a weak pathetic child" and I'd bet as a teenager Fei Du had a similar conversation to this, but from the other end. He was the child like this girl was, insisting what he'd done and what his dad had done and how his dad said people were "sheep" and "victims deserved it" and they had to be predators, how Fei Du blamed himself (or at the least saw himself as like his father - horrifically for himself - rather than a victim). And Officer Luo had probably kept insisting he stop spouting violent bullshit, that it's revolting, that Fei Du just can't accept he's a victim - all the things Fei Du does to this girl now to egg her on to talk. This conversation feels Very revealing of Fei Dus past. I again wonder what will happen to the girl...
Quote (again it's dark so you may not wanna read):
Xu Wenchao has been arrested and brought to justice,” Fei Du said sternly. “Although there are still questions that haven’t been settled, we should soon be able to get it out of him.”
Su Luozhan laughed mysteriously.
“If you’re willing to identify him, then of course…” At this point, Fei Du deliberately paused, then shook his head and smiled. “Never mind, what would be the use of you identifying him?—Do you want to eat something else? I can send someone to buy it.”
Su Luozhan wasn’t interested in this. She followed up, “Why would it be no use for me to identify him?”
“Because you’re a child,” Fei Du said matter-of-factly. “Children can’t bear witness. This is a case of a very serious nature. They won’t take what you say as the truth, and if they did, they still couldn’t make you go to court.—But, little girl, there’s one point I have to talk to you about. However scared you are, hurting other children is still wrong. You were holding a knife back there. Do you know how dangerous that was? If you’d slipped up…”
Su Luozhan suddenly interrupted him: “If I’d slipped up, I wouldn’t have been able to kill her?”
Fei Du looked at her, seeming dazed.
Su Luozhan twirled the hair at her temple around her finger again and again, looking at him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. She was like a hunter who’d thrown out some bait and was waiting for the prey to take it.
Fei Du became “solemn,” putting down his phone and sitting up properly, looking at Su Luozhan. “I know that for some children who have been hurt, it can be hard to accept themselves as victims. You may mistakenly think that only the bad guys are strong, only the bad guys are capable, and victims are all weak and stupid and deserve what they get. You may even blindly emulate those people who do bad things, but…”
“Victims are weak and stupid and deserve what they get.” Su Luozhan pulled a face at him. “They’re like sheep. All they can do is bleat, slow and foolish. Easily tricked, scream at a touch, die just like that. They’re of no value alive.”
Fei Du furrowed his brow, staring at Su Luozhan in mixed shock and anger. “How could you think that!”
From the time he’d taken her for a stupid child and tried to “educate” her, there had been a vicious restlessness in Su Luozhan’s heart; she’d have loved nothing better than to rip open his gentle face. Seeing his expression change now, the restlessness was at last slightly alleviated, and she felt a bit of indescribable, unwarranted pleasure.
“Anyway, I won’t be sentenced to jail no matter what, right?” Su Luozhan looked at Fei Du complacently. “Those sheep really are very foolish. They believe anything you say. If you get near them once, the second time they’ll think you’re their friend and go with you anywhere you want… Haha, it’s so funny it kills me.”
“Su Luozhan.” Fei Du’s lips trembled faintly. “Don’t talk nonsense!”
Su Luozhan hadn’t had a chance to see Qu Tong’s parents’ expressions when they’d received the recording; it was all imagination. She’d felt an unbearable itch, and now grafted this young “policeman”’s pained and disturbed expression onto the vision. She was so excited her eyes glowed.
“I’m not talking nonsense.” She innocently and artlessly kicked the floor gently with the tip of her foot. “This is what my mom taught me. She said that when other animals encounter danger, they’ll either fight or flee. Only little sheep are different. They’ll only get scared out of their wits, stay where they are without moving a muscle. They’ll go with anyone who calls them. Though my mom was also a sheep, also very foolish. I read her diary in secret. She got scared out of her wits when she was the same age as me, and afterwards she never dared to leave her signature again.”
“…signature?” said Fei Du.
Su Luozhan very cleverly mimicked a telephone receiver with her hand and put it next to her ear. “The ‘knight’ protecting her died, so she didn’t dare anymore.”
“Knight?”
“Too sickening, right?” Su Luozhan laughed scornfully. “In fact he was just a ‘diner’ she was on good terms with, that’s all. My family lives by hunting. Aside from catching ‘little sheep,’ my mom couldn’t do anything. Then she got old and couldn’t even attend to business. She had to rely on me to support herself… Well, she finally died.”
“…that’s enough. Don’t say any more,” Fei Du said with difficulty. “How old are you?”
“I knew how to do it when I was seven.” Su Luozhan happily pursed her lips in a smile at him. “My mom used me to catch little sheep to entertain the clients. Sometimes she’d have me go ‘hunting’ with a client. When he’d finished his meal, he’d go back home, and she’d take care of the rest, no need for the client to worry about it. That’s the business she learned from her mother.”

DouKuaiB is red, 10 years of predicament
Tumblr media
Some time ago, on the 10th anniversary of Xiaohongshu, founder Mao Wenchao gave a 10th anniversary sharing speech. HE Tuber At the end of his speech, he mentioned that the significance of the existence of the Little Red Book is to use technology as the pen and humanistic spirit as the ink to outline the fireworks of the world, which most comforts the hearts of ordinary people.
Not to mention whether there is a linguistic problem in this sentence. Just a few days after he gave this speech, also in Shanghai, at the Kuaishou Creators Conference, Wang Jianwei, the head of Kuaishou’s commercialization, also mentioned that the most appropriate sentence to describe Kuaishou is “ The fireworks in the world are the most soothing to mortal hearts.” ”.
All I can say is that Chinese Internet users should read "Three Hundred Tang Poems" more often.
Behind the "mortal theory", we will find that the most mainstream platforms on the Chinese Internet today are becoming more consistent in their definitions.
It can be seen from the slogan that Kuaishou is "embracing every life" and Douyin is "recording a beautiful life". It seems like a slight crash, but you have to know that Kuaishou’s last slogan was called “Record life, record you.”
As for Xiaohongshu, after the end of the overseas shopping e-commerce era, Xiaohongshu changed three slogans, namely "Good life all over the world", "Mark my life" and "The life experience of 200 million people, all in "Little Red Book".
This is not over yet. Don’t forget that there is also a WeChat video account. The slogan is also very unique, called “Recording Real Life.”
Co-authoring makes life difficult, right?
Our Ah B is still the most simple: the videos you are interested in are all at Station B. In addition to the sentence structure being hit by Xiaohongshu, at least it's not "all the life you are interested in is at Station B", right?
In this issue, I will talk about the relationship between these Internet platforms and “mortals”.
01
A few years ago, I was chatting with several Internet friends in Beijing. At that time, Douyin and Kuaishou were competing for market share, and they were fighting fiercely. While chatting, a friend used 6 words to sum up the positioning of these two companies incisively: "Universe Bar" and "Human Hand".
The name "Universal Tiao" is often mentioned on the Internet. Byte's early core product Jinri Toutiao is the company's main office location near Wudaokou in the "Universe Center". Its temperament is as good as all the Internet giants at home and abroad. It looks like every factory is trying to grab business, and it’s developing very fast. It's called the Universe Factory, which makes sense.
The expression "human hands" is very original.
You will find that at the public relations and marketing level, Kuaishou, a company, always likes to emphasize that on its platform, you can see real life, the real world, and everyone’s sentient beings. I looked through the advertising case website and found that almost all of Kuaishou’s ads have very similar styles. I just picked a few to give you a feel.
"Your little life is a big event worth recording."
"Kuaishou's 500 Hometowns"
Of course, I’m not saying that Kuaishou is bragging, it’s just that Kuaishou’s public relations method is so unique and suitable for this company. Since debuting in 2015 with a piece called "The Cruel Story of the Bottom", Kuaishou's labels have always been "down-to-earth", "earthy", "sinking", "stewing yourself in an iron pot and blowing up your crotch with firecrackers", which sounds like Not so positive.
However, the same words can also be said in another way, "down-to-earth" is called "real", "sinking" is called "human world", and "earthy" is called "life". Doesn't it sound much better? Even a bit tall, suitable for CCTV?
Two years ago, Kuaishou also published a book called "Kuaishou Anthropology", which tells you that we have the most authentic and comprehensive human samples here.
This is a relatively powerful brand marketing technique.
This technique was later learned by Douyin, Xiaohongshu, and video accounts. Let me tell you that we have thousands of users here, and everyone is here to record real and beautiful life.
It stands to reason that these platforms have hundreds of millions of DAUs and produce millions of pieces of content every day. This is not a problem, but when viewed together, it is very strange.
Since you are all living in real life and experiencing all kinds of things in the world, why are there four? Isn’t one enough?
02
It should be mentioned that today's larger platforms, especially algorithm-driven video content platforms, are becoming more and more alike.
In my opinion, whether it's the slogan crashing or the public relations rhetoric becoming like a repeater, it's just a symptom. When all platforms are gradually becoming larger and more generalized, the result is that there is less and less differentiation between platforms.
Today, Kuaishou has nearly 400 million daily active users and more than 600 million monthly active users. What is this concept? There are less than 1.1 billion Internet users in China, about half of them use Kuaishou at least once a month, and more than a third of them use it every day. Douyin has more than 700 million monthly active users, Station B has more than 300 million users, and Xiaohongshu has just exceeded 300 million users.
This means that in absolute terms, no matter which platform it is, it is enough to call its users the basic base of Chinese netizens.
Since everyone has the same base, they will naturally look a bit alike.
Historically, "generalization" is the only way forward for the development of almost all platforms. Before being generalized, they are more commonly called “communities”.
What is a community? Sociologists have hundreds of different definitions, but most of them include a certain population, a certain region, a certain culture with certain characteristics, a certain type of organization, and a social life community composed of these elements.
The definition of community on the Internet is similar, except that the region becomes cyberspace, which may be a website, an app, or a chat group.
Generally speaking, Internet communities have three core elements: groups of people, common culture, and certain ways of interaction.
In the early PC Internet era, there were many communities, ranging from large and comprehensive forums to post bars focusing on a certain interest. There were even online communities based on locals in different cities.

Review: "The Soul"
Tumblr media
On Netflix I watched "The Soul" directed by Wei-Hao Cheng and starring Chang Chen, Janine Chun-Ning Chang, Anke Sun, and Christopher Ming-Shun Lee. Chang Chen was in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Red Cliff", "A Brighter Summer Day" and numerous other films. I enjoyed this film. It was definitely rather intricate with some unexpected twists and turns. However it is not for everyone. There are certainly some bloody scenes and it is not a happy film. Chang Chen plays Liang Wen-Chao, who is a detective working on a murder case. In the film he also is dying from cancer. For this film he lost 26 pounds and shaved his head. He was not a heavy set fellow to begin with.
From IMDb,
"Wang Shicong, chairman of the famous group, died tragically at home. The prosecutor Liang Wenchao (Zhang Zhen) and his wife, criminal police A Bao (Janine Chang), learned during the investigation: the deceased's son Wang Tianyou (Lin Huimin), the young newlywed wife Li Yan (Sun Anke), long-time partner Wan Yufan (Christopher Li), and even the dead ex-wife Tang Suzhen (Zhang Baijia), everyone has intricate connections between each other. A Bao discovered the appalling secret hidden behind the case... The film is adapted from Jiang Bo's novel. "
It is a compelling film and well-acted, in my opinion. The cinematography is very good. The story line was interesting to me. It is science fiction and even has elements of the occult but neither overwhelms the film.
I doubt that this film will become a classic or cult favorite but I liked it.

P.3:  A collection of one-shots right after Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's wedding in Qishan.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian (mod)
Comments:
"You might want to ask: How did the spoiled, arrogant, womanizer son of Wen Ruohan's ended up as a successful wedding planner?
HOW INDEED???
"Well, it started ten years ago when a certain Yunmeng fucker publicly proposed to a certain Gusu fucker, to quote our legendary wedding planner."
Wherein WWX's marriage proposal changes the future of the cultivation world for good including WR's decisions and WC's heart.
The words ‘Please forgive me for forcefully taking your chastity’ were still ringing in their ears.
"Now, now, no need to condemn the two young ones. They're both currently in the age when the blood runs too hot and influence their young minds. I mean, all of us here had passed the same stage, right? There's nothing wrong with giving in to the desires of your heart and body now and then." Jin Guangshan smiled, brightly. He got a look of contempt from the youngest Sect Leader.
'Slut,' Nie Mingjue thought, disgusted.
'Virgin,' Jin Guangshan thought, disparagingly.
In which there’s a forehead ribbon proposal, then a shotgun wedding organized by the wedding planner/Marriage Counselor!Wen Chao, who eventually gets kicked out of the Club of Unrepentant Villains for becoming a good person and becomes the God of Marriage and Childbirth instead. Also, Wen Zhuliu becomes a cook somehow,  LQR a Hot Daddy, and Wangxian get a sex-ed from Jin Guangshan (yes, you read that right).
Read for: A crazy wild ride with excellent humor, LQR getting his beard shaved off for the second time,  and seeing WRH become a writer of sappy romance novels inspired by Wangxian's young love!
