“we are so dead”, megumi thought to himself as he stared at the coffee that was spilled on the white dress shirt in front of him. ijichi had left gojo-sensei’s brand new and freshly dry cleaned button-up shirt with them for a moment and nobara just had to spill coffee all over it.

“you’ve done it now, kugisaki.” megumi chastised her.

“this is gojo-sensei’s, right?” nobara asked her two partners, “okay, who’s really at fault here? ijichi, who entrusted us children to keep a freshly dry cleaned shirt safe… or me, who spilled a little tinsy winsy bit of coffee?”

yuji and megumi shouted in unison, “you are at fault!”

the students started to panic while trying to dab at the stain with napkins. “you gotta dab it like this… this is how my grandpa taught me to treat stains.” yuji told megumi and nobara. his tongue was sticking out, eyes concentrated while dabbing at the shirt. megumi looked defeated. it was like he was working with tweedle dee and tweedle dum.

yuji picked up the shirt and laid it out on the table. the coffee stains almost looked like a design. maybe they would be able to get away with it. gojo-sensei wore some interesting things, he wouldn’t question it.

“it could pass for marimekko.” yuji said. nobara agreed while looking at the shirt, “if you look at it in this light and angle…”

“that’s so insulting to the fashion industry.” megumi stated. he was raised by the satoru gojo and (y/n) (l/n), so he was aware of the fashion trends due to both of his guardians having a shopping problem.

“why don’t we just get him a new shirt? i bet it’s replaceable!” nobara suggested to the two, “fushiguro, look up how much this shirt costs!”

megumi took out his phone and started googling. his eyes widened in shock, gulping as he realized it was a prada shirt, “uh, guys… this shirt is $1800…” he showed yuji and nobara his phone. they looked at the price with disgust and despair.

yuji, asking in fear, “is that before or after tax?”

“does it matter?! we don’t have that kind of money! we’re high schoolers!” megumi shouted at them. he could feel the anger boiling in him.

“well, i’ll put in $900 since i was the one that spilled the coffee and you guys put in $450 each, does that sound good?” nobara suggested as she did the math begrudgingly. she definitely did not want to spend her play money on replacing her rich sensei's shirt.

the kids heard the dining hall screen slide open, eyes full of terror. megumi shoved gojo-sensei’s shirt into his jujutsu high uniform as he greeted his students, “mornin’! ijichi should’ve left you guys with something for me… uh, megumi, you good?”

“oh yeah,” he said with a nervous chuckle, “ijichi said he was going to give it to (y/n) instead!”

the way megumi stuffed the shirt into his uniform made it look like he had boobs. nobara and yuji held in their laughs behind their hands, megumi’s lie was the nail in the coffin for them. he wanted to punch both of them in their faces, he was so annoyed. he stormed out of the room and retreated to a hidden faculty closet to make an emergency phone call.

“so, to what do i owe the pleasure of my adopted son calling me?” you teased megumi. he would've just gone to your office if today wasn't your day off.

“i need a favor…” he mumbled.

“what happened, kiddo? are you in trouble?” you asked him with all teasing aside, concern in your tone.

“not exactly. nobara spilled coffee on one of gojo-sensei’s expensive shirts. can you help me get it dry cleaned before he finds out?” he explained the story to you. mama-(y/n) instincts picked up right away.

“bring it home, i’ll take a look at it. satoru doesn’t come home until 6:30 today.”

you had a very soft spot for megumi and tsumiki. if they needed anything, you were there for them in a heartbeat. realistically, you knew that satoru wouldn’t be upset about his shirt since he could just buy a new one anyway, but it was cute to see megumi all worked up about it. you chuckled to yourself in the kitchen as megumi hung up the phone. he'd be home in a flash.

later that day: the gojo/(l/n) household

“(y/n)-sensei, i’m home!” megumi called out to you from the foyer as he took off his shoes and grabbed his slippers.

the familiar scent of the apartment he grew up in brought him back to his childhood, it was nostalgic for him. it was a mix of your nectarine and honey blossom perfume and gojo-sensei’s spicy and woodsy cologne.

he reminisced about when you and gojo-sensei first got this apartment. he would watch tv with tsumiki after school while you and gojo-sensei hung out in the kitchen making dinner. mainly gojo-sensei would watch and bother you, but to megumi's surprise, both of you were decent cooks at 18. he missed when you would read bedtime stories to him and tsumiki, he liked to think you were the reason why he loved reading so much.

he walked over to the wall next to the bathroom where gojo-sensei measured his and tsumiki’s height every month until he turned 12. a soft smile formed on his face when he thought about how his sensei would include his spikey dark blue hair into his height to make him feel better about not being 6'3" like him. oh what he would do to be 12 again...

after living in the dorms for a year now and only coming home on the weekends, he sure missed you and the blindfolded idiot. he would never admit it, but he actually liked living with you two. he was grateful to have guardians like you and satoru.

“welcome home, kiddo. we missed ya'. and what did i say about not calling me sensei? it makes me sound old.” you smiled and hugged him tightly.

he grumbled as you ruffled his hair, “ugh. you just saw me yesterday...” megumi shook his head and fixed a couple pieces of his hair that your slender fingers displaced. he hated when you and gojo-sensei would do that, but he always let it slide because well… it was you and gojo. and believe it or not, he had a soft spot deep down for you two.

“where’s the shirt?” you asked as megumi took out the soiled shirt from his backpack.

“yikes, not the prada shirt…” you tried to hold back a laugh.

“can it be saved?” he asked eagerly.

“i don’t know, megumi. you might have to do chores for a whole year to pay this one off.” you joked with him.

you sighed, there was definitely no fixing this. you retreated to your bedroom to find your purse, megumi curiously wondering what you were doing. you rummaged through your purse to find your wallet, taking out your black credit card and handing it to megumi. megumi eyes widened, he knew what the black cards meant, he grew up with you and gojo-sensei after all.

“take my card. go buy a new one exactly like this. he’ll never know.” you whispered to him.

“are you sure? this is expensive. nobara suggested we all pitch in to buy a new shir—”

you hit megumi upside the head with a spray of water from your cursed technique, “go now. the idiot comes home soon!” you grabbed his arm and dragged him from the kitchen table to the foyer.

he smiled at you and turned to open the door, but before he left, he stopped.

“(y/n)?” he said quietly.

“yes, megumi?” you watched him as he looked over at you.

his hand left the doorknob as he ran to hug you quickly, “you’re the best.”

his embrace surprised you. you wrapped your arms around your adopted teenaged son and laughed. everyone knew megumi loved you more than he loved satoru. there was only one person that he would call in case of emergency, and it was you.

I don't think anyone will be surprised when I say this, but there's a fundamental problem with western "adult" animation and that really sucks. To summarize the obvious: nearly every animated show not "made for kids" is limited to one very specific ~type~ of show (you know the one). And sure, some people like this style of show, but the potential left untapped is infuriating.

What I want from adult animation is shows like The Owl House, but taken further, without the limitations that networks put these shows through to make them "suitable for younger audiences". I don't even think they need to necessarily be completely inappropriate for younger viewers, they just need to prioritize their adult audience more and not get bogged down by "think of the children!!" rhetoric.

Animation targetted at older audiences doesn't all have to be like Family Guy. Even the more well-liked adult shows such as Harley Quinn don't stray nearly far enough off the established model to really meet the potential of the medium. Sometimes I want a sincere story without bathroom humour or gratuitous gore or hypersexualization. Sometimes I want to watch something that doesn't even really have "adult" content, but that's still designed for older audiences first and foremost, instead of held in a creative chokehold by brands like Disney to make sure it's colourful and light-hearted enough for little Timmy.

Maybe what I want would more accurately be called "Young Adult" or "Teen" animation, but I feel like those labels would undervalue these shows to the average viewer, similalry to how "YA" vs. "Adult" novels are treated. Just look at what Infinity Train was able to do when it was allowed to go places "kids'" shows usually aren't allowed to! Look at the beta concepts and imagine what The Owl House could have been if it wasn't on Disney Channel!

Of course, I love what we got with toh and how far they've taken this story, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. But there are admittedly a lot of weird moments and character/lore inconsistencies in the show, especially in season 1, where you can really feel Disney's enforced quota of "haha silly cartoon hijinks" messing with things. And I try to ignore them, but I often look at that one Bat Queen concept art and I get this sense of longing for a world where these shows can exist without having to toe the line of conforming to being "kids" shows.

Really my main point is that no one is hitting this specific niche like serialized non-"adult" cartoons are. But these types of shows have no stable space carved out for them in western media. The only place where they can even exist is on kids television networks, where their content is heavily policed and limited. And being trapped on these networks causes the general public to often lump them in with every other cartoon, dismissing them all as "for kids", no matter how different the story-telling style and intended audiences are. And if any of these networks one day decide that serialized cartoons no longer fit their brand, then we lose like half of the shows we have, out of an already measly selection.

Western animation has so much diverse potential, and yet all we get is the same genre of shows with that horribly bland and low-budget artstyle that makes everything just looks like Family Guy. Why does it have to be this way?

Doodle World Awesome Squad from my Mind Palace 👾👾

Design Explanation Paragraphing under the cut !!!! Where I really talk about the how and why of it all ^<^

So excited to post this !! I do hope ye all like it, I was super excited seeing people like/reblog my last post as I've felt a little awkward posting Doodle World art just due to not knowing anyone else who played the game eeeekk.. BUT these are my 'headcannons', I guess you could call them; for the main Doodle World group !!!

> Suzie : The shortest of the group at 5'2"!! Due to the body type used for her in-game, I have always pictured her as being on the bigger side!! Her hair is like a Jellyfish cut, if you guys are familiar with that. Or.. well that's how I interpret what is happening. And I think she looks totally cutieful <3 I draw her with blue eyes for reasons unknown to myself, I have just always given her blue. Her pants are worn/faded at the knees and slightly frayed at the end. Her footwear is closer to boots than runners!! She is in-game, shown to be closer with the player, and that stays to be true in my version of them also.. I think they would have matching friendship bracelets...

> Quincy : Second tallest at 5'7.5" [didn't originally care about the .5, until it was a way to one up the player]. Got rid of those awful glasses he wears... please take them off Quincy.. gave him regular white frames specs instead!! He is a little blind. Also grey-ish eyes?? Again no reasoning. Is on the slimmer side in my mind, not much muscle, because I believe he was a sheltered, rich kid who didn't have to do much- until this adventure, of course. His outfit also doesn't make much sense for travel because well.. I don't think he really expected all this running around we have been doing. His shoes are bright white, and his jeans look brand new. His shirt is pressed !!! ..He has grown on me a lot I can't lie, I never disliked him, though.

> TJ : Tallest of the group!! 6'0"!! He has always just felt tall to me.. maybe that is crazy. He has wider shoulders that sort of replicate his in-game model, as opposed to Quincy, I do believe TJ has worked out/exercised at times :P His outfit is more relaxed, I debated with sweatpants for a while, I do think baggy jeans suit but either or make sense to me. The knees of his jeans are slightly worn, his hoodie is definitely bigg and comfy, and his shoes are definitely made for maximum comfort and running around. Hair change going off model simply because I like this style a lot more, and I think it suits him really well, and then brown eyes !! He also has thicker eyebrows than Suzie and Quincy, no major reason I just think thick eyebrows rock !!!1

And finally, not really necessary;

The Player! Or in this case

> Jay : Standing at 5'7" to replicate myself, Jay is a mix of me and my roblox avatar in looks. She has broader shoulders, which are very much hidden under the baggy hoodie. She also has thicker eyebrows, matching TJ. His outfit is similar to Quincy's on the pure coincide of that is what my avatar was wearing when I first joined Doodle World and finding it funny, I've kept the matching rival outfits since. Despite the similarity to Quincy's clothes, Jay's are very much perfect for this adventure (the main reason being the jumper shirt combo is fake!! It is one item of clothing... he has been lying to you). The jeans are baggy, worn, faded, and fraying in places- but the extra pockets really do come in handy at times. Also a glasses wearer!! As I'm very much far from 20/20 vision.. and of course; train track braces !!! Let's goo !!!!

Well, that has been an absolute ramble session !! I hope that made sense if you did read all that. I mainly just wanted to explain how I see the characters and my reasonings, if any.. behind why. Especially if I want to post more artwork of them all :D!!!

Posters, drawings, lookalikes, and more!

This post goes all over the place but I promise it's interesting!!!!

SO: I've seen these go around: the moment that Mike finds El in a trailer, we get a voice-over from Mike saying "that's not Will." And then this idea of maybe Mike's arc paralleling these lines from Hopper: from what Hopper had heard, Will could've been El and vice versa, they looked alike, and maybe he was chasing the wrong kid, like Mike has been doing the past couple seasons romantically.

But I actually found an on-screen example of a lookalike being weirdly in the mix of a scene with a romantic pairing. Again, round of applause to the set design:

Nancy takes off her shirt in front of Steve, and she's standing right in front of a poster featuring a woman with a white bikini to match Nancy's white bra. She's blonde while Nancy is brunette but that doesn't even matter in this scenario and here's why:

Nancy makes it clear in s1 that Steve seems to sleep around a lot, he has a big poster of a woman in a bikini right over his bed, in s3 he flirts with every cute girl that comes into Sccops Ahoy, he starts liking Robin after Dustin suggests it in s3, and then he starts to like Nancy again after Dustin suggests it in s4. He's looking for a woman, any woman.

When Stevw is about to hook up with Nancy, he's free to check out this other woman right behind her. He says "damn" and she says "shut up" and then they go to bed. This isn't to say Steve wasn't into Nancy, but maybe suggesting that Nancy is in over her head with him, foreshadowing them not staying together, suggesting that he isn't good for her. Basically that something about this situation isn't right.

I made a joke when I first noticed this: who is he even saying "damn" to?? Nancy or the poster? And that's the whole point here. Steve says "damn" when Nancy takes off her shirt, while looking at Nancy but the poster was very clearly in his field of vision. That reminded me of a couple things that aren't brand new, but I wanted to connect here:

Mike looked at El in s1 and saw someone who looks pretty similar to Will. This visual similarity comes up twice, iirc, in s1. And then it happens again in s4. They gave El bangs so that she looks similar to Will, making the situation from s1 (IF they had the same hair, would they look similar? Well now they basically have the same hair when El's is up in a ponytail) a reality. They also dressed El in a plaid shirt in 4x04 so that she looked similar to Will (which was stated by the costume designer in that one video).

While Steve is looking for a girl, any girl, Mike had feelings for Will as a child, and latched onto a girl that looked similar to him, as that made the most sense to a repressed queer kid in the 80s. That's why it's important that Will and El look similar while Nancy and the poster woman don't look similar.

Bringing this back to posters behind a love interest: we get this from s3. Initially, we only see that Mike's hawk poster from his basement is in his field of vision and a butterfly is in El's field of vision. Mike is looking for masculinity and El is looking for something feminine, childish? But later in the episode, we see Will's drawing is right next to the poster. I'm not 100% sure if this is Will's D&D character (bc of the fire) or Mike's (bc of the sword), but either way, Will's drawing is there for Mike to look at while being with, kissing El, similar to the bikini poster.

Additionally from s4, we have this post by @willbyerssupremacist, with the picture below: Will's drawing again in Mike's field of vision behind El. And Mike looked up after reading El's "from, El" letter to look directly at Will's drawing, noted in this post by @chirpsythismorning.

Bringing this back to Steve saying "damn," it also made me think of Mike's speech to El in 4x09.

Mike hears Will call him the heart, he turns around, and says "I love you" to El.

I don't think we focus on this enough: Will didn't say "tell her you love her." He said "you're the heart," boiling down what he said in the van: "you guide us, inspire us, hold us together, and we'd fall apart without you." But Mike took that prompting from Will and told El he loves her. Partly because he knew that was what their last fight was about, but could it also be a case of feeling his feelings towards Will, looking at Will calling him the heart (the poster in this scenario) and then turning to El and spitting out his version of Steve saying "damn" to Nancy?

Looking at another example that I found of posters behind a love interest signaling something negative about the couple:

The introduction of Max to the party is very focused on Dustin, we don't get close ups on the other boys during this initial intro, and what does he see behind her? "Extra! Extra! First Woman." Dustin's first crush. But it's just the first, showing that there's going to be more, she's not it for him. Which reminds me of El saying that Mike is her first boyfriend, right?

And we have this imagery at the Snowball: Dustin just panning his vision to see what's next after Max isn't an option anymore: more women after the First Woman! Similar to how Steve and Mike could've just panned their vision over while looking at Nancy or El to see what else is there: hot girl in a bikini, a reminder of Will.

So basically, there's something here with Will's drawing being in Mike's field of vision when he's with El. It's a parallel to two other failed romantic matches. And I just think that poster behind Nancy is so interesting!!! I'll be posting more about some Nancy parallels soon. 🙂

OK it's been 2 seconds since the last one I'm still going, writing isn't working drawing is unreliable so here are my thoughts/headcanons/ideas about Generation Loss Episode 2!

PART TWO: AD BREAKS

So it's not a character I want to talk about but it's related to a character we all know and love: Squiggles. You know through the episodes where he just pops up and gives little comments about what's going on? I was watching Episode 2 yesterday, and one of Squiggle's little things made me go "oh this is certainly an Idea".

"If you're on mobile, buy a computer! Ha ha."

So I was thinking, what if some of the other comments led into little sponsored ad breaks, or TSE merch? For The World watching, I understand it's not us (because we live in a world where Ranboo is aLive and well *sobs*), but the world of Genloss, what if they got ads? They're all sitting down together watching TV with their dinners on their laps, and then Squiggles comes dancing across the screen just before the puzzle is completed (for context, this was when the audience was solving a puzzle to get GL!Niki and GL!Sneeg through the pipe maze). And everyone's enthralled, they're like oh wow they've almost made it, and Squiggles comes and goes "If you're on mobile, buy a computer! *brand name* laptops available now for 10% off if you call today, at 1800-RANBOO, I repeat, 1800-RANBOO! Now right back to Generation Loss, the Social Experiments!"

(I tried to get the 1800 number to be GENLOSS but it has too many letters)

If I could animate, and I really would like to learn just so I can do this, I would make Squiggles do his little thing, and advertise his products. Like when GL!Ranboo is cutting open GL!Slime, he goes "so that's why he's called Slimecicle!" And then, what if he launches into a toy ad targeted at kids for the Operation set of Slimecicle, as pictured in Generation Loss, for only $49.99! Like they have all these little ads, and they're so annoying for the viewer except all of them are so enthralling, so you have houses of Genloss merchandise and sponsored materials, little figurines of all the characters (Slimecicle's comes in an operating bed, and you can get the merry-go-round for an additional 20 bucks). And all of the boxes have Squiggles there in the corner, smiling and saying something either directly related to the product, or a very generic Showfall Media merch tagline.

It's sick and twisted, because you can buy all these things that are so messed up. I'm only thinking about Episode 2 right now, so I won't even go into Episode 3. But like, you can get Frank, and the figurine of Sneeg has a removable hat, and for the clothes room set you get all these customisable options with wigs and shoes and everything. You can get the revolving door that killed GL!Ethan, and it comes with fake blood! Slime kits that turn red if you download a certain mobile app, for an additional cost.

Once again, this post has evolved from "sponsorship and merch" to "fucked up action figures", but there .you go. I just really like the idea of having brightly coloured lumps of plastic designed for kids and megafans with too much money, but it's about the most fucked up things aspects of the show. But it's all haha funny and haha children, and it's a plague. It's everywhere. Target, Toyworld, supermarkets. Like Barbie or Hotwheels, it's one of the big brands. You can get Lego sets where you get two versions of Ranboo's mask. Screaming face Charlie, and happy normal "duude" Slimecicle. It's all plastic, it's all fake as fuck, but the kids love it, the adults love it, it's so marketable and they have Christmas editions, Halloween editions, and maybe ONE edition for some other holiday that doesn't have strictly Christian roots, for the media's sake. "Showfall Media Displays Diversity In Popular New Doll". Just so no one can say they're not inclusive.

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Review

Its time to talk about crossovers. It seems that everywhere you look these days, big media conglomerates have been rushing out crossovers left and right, hoping to make a quick buck off of the nostalgic masses. To them, its easy money: put two or more popular things together, and people will come with wallets in hand. It doesn't even have to make sense; Fortnite gets away with slapping whatever popular characters they want in the game, because they know kids all across the world will steal their mommies' credit cards to get them.

But why all the crossover hate? Some of the most exciting and beloved pieces of media in recent decades have been crossovers, in one way or another. Wreck-It Ralph (2012) had Zangief from Street Fighter, Pac-Man, Bowser, and Doctor Eggman, along with dozens of other video-game characters, and none of it felt forced or contrived. Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) was the first time Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse appeared in the same scene, and it too, doesn't feel forced. Super Smash Bros., a game series which, under any other circumstances, would be seen as pandering, is one of the highest selling Nintendo franchises of all times, and continues to be an important part of the fighting game community.

Perhaps, then, what makes a crossover film, show, or game, high quality is what it does with itself. Anyone can put a bunch of famous characters in a scene, but what comes next? You've got a bunch of household names in a room together, so what? Pulling off a successful crossover isn't easy, but one thing's for sure: you better sell it quick, and sell it well.

Netflix, for all its ups and downs, sure knows how to sell a crossover. Last year, they lovingly gave us Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, an animated series that features famous Ubisoft game characters in a dystopian cyberpunk future. Most people, like, me, got excited at hear the premise alone. A crossover with all our favorite game characters, helmed by showrunner behind Castlevania (2017) and the upcoming Devil May Cry series, seemed like a sure bet for some fast animation and punchy violence. Little did we know that behind the neon lights and blood splatters, was an important discussion about media's role in a oligarchic society.

CL:BDR follows Dolph Laserhawk, an ex-military cyborg who fights the governing technocracy with his boyfriend, Alex. Betrayed and left for dead, Laserhawk is enlisted in a covert team designed to take down the government through espionage. Along the way, Laserhawk grapples with his own conflicting feelings, as we learn more about how terrible life has become for everyone.

In the show, the United States has been taken over by a company called Eden, which rules through propaganda and heavy policing. Beneath the shiny veneer of peace and unity that peppy TV show hosts provide, lies a city where poverty is rampant, and anthropomorphic animals are treated as sub-human. Its a harsh reality, contrasted wonderfully by the cutesy, childish propaganda was seen on TVs throughout the show. We see a cute character sing about how we should thank all the 'hybrids' in our neighborhood for all the work they do, then smash-cut to a factory where those same 'hybrids' are forced to produce snake venom for hours without rest.

Eden is run through propaganda, which bleeds into every aspect of life for it's people. Buildings all across cities are branded with the company's name and logo, as blimps displaying the news hover above. Popular television star Rayman (from the self-titled games) gives both the nightly news, but runs the children's network too, ensuring that there's no escape from the government mouthpiece. In a world where major brands have begun to dominate the market more and more, its stuff like this that seems less fictional, and more like a warning.

In that regard, CL:BDR is an excellent piece of cyberpunk. After the Netflix anime, and recent game (of dubious quality), it feels as though most people see cyberpunk simply as another aesthetic. A flashy, edgy coat of paint to throw on when the sci-fi story need a little oomph. It saddens me to see that we're losing sight of the important of cyberpunk, but at least with this show, I can rest easy knowing they got the memo.

Still, for what its worth, the aesthetics are on point too. The show is full of lots of sharp, jagged lines, and angular shading, complimenting its fast action sequences and sometimes complex character designs. Night shots are dense, full of geometric buildings with lights littered like smaller suns, casting colored shadows. Its everything you'd expect out of an anime (or anime inspired) cyberpunk show.

What makes CL:BDR more than just a run-of-the-mill gritty animated series is how it leans into its video game-ness. Like Bocchi the Rock (2022), CL:BDR experiments with different animation styles, playing around with its visuals to achieve different effects. One episode has Laserhawk and his mysterious boss wandering through a virtual world, created by one of the last survivors of the wasteland beyond the city. Inside, both characters appear as their voice actors, pixelated like an old FMV game, yet the world around them is animated like normal. When under stress, the characters flip back and forth between pixilation and chunky polygons, as if going through the eras of gaming technology before our eyes.

Unlike early video game adaptations, CL:BDR is unafraid to be based on video games, celebrating past games instead of trying to 'class' them up for a wider audience. Nearly the entire main cast are taken from video games, and tweaked slightly to fit the story in ways that feel normal for them. Older gamers will get a kick out of seeing familiar faces, but for younger folks like me, the characters are written in a way that doesn't rely on viewers to have prior knowledge of them. You could watch this show without having played any Ubisoft games and still enjoy it.

If not for the game references, watch this show for the characters. Laserhawk himself is a deeply fascinating character, who struggles between his sense of justice, a drive for revenge, and feelings for someone he knows he can't trust. In any other show he'd be another gun-waving edgelord, but CL:BDR clearly cares about him, and works hard to get you to care about him too.

Bullfrog is another good character, who, if not for Laserhawk, I'd call my favorite. There's just something comedic about having a trained assassin from an ancient brotherhood be a chipper, cute anthropomorphic frog. In a show where everyone is gritty and serious, Bullfrog keeps scenes from getting too dark, drops a few jokes here and there, and is one of the nicest ones there.

Out of all the characters in this show, though, none are more surprising than Rayman. After years without a new game, and being ignored by Ubisoft in favor of the Rabbids, Rayman finally has his time to shine here, but in the most horrible, wonderful kind of way. Rayman's arc, going from corporate shill to full-blown terrorist, is given a surprising amount of time and focus, and by the end of the show, you really feel bad for him.

CL:BDR, at the end of the day, is a cyberpunk series for gamers, sci-fi fans, animation fans, or really any adults with access to it. Watching this show, I hadn't been this excited to see what comes next in a while, especially given Netflix's feast-or-famine adult animation library. I doubt it'll get a second season, but if it does, I'll be watching it the day it comes out, excited to see what this studio has cooking up next. If it has as much queer rep. as this show does, we're in for a treat.

this was produced and came out during the years she went public about losing her fucking mind, so like. everyone had to deal with it in the way they felt was appropriate. i'm not really out to judge the exact timbre of one's response so long as said response does not align with her bigotry, and i sympathize with the petty joy of belittling something owned by somone hateful, especially if that something once meant a lot to you...

i guess i'm just not super comfortable with it because a) you're still picking at a wound even if you end up making funny shapes out of the scabs, b) these hot takes are about general magic-school tropes but often are so specifically about her it feels like we're giving her credit for creating them, and c) owning her like this feels like an opiate when the real issue isn't that her fictional society is founded on 11 year olds taking one uquiz, or that the fake sport she made up is hideously unbalanced, it's that she's...the leader of hate group

(and what Lilith is good at is soothing the pain of others via self-harm! which i think is the point the Helen's-Type-Generator starts emitting confetti and oily black smoke)

is this the first instance of magic having a cost or rebound in this world? beyond "whew i did a lot of magic today, i'm tired?" hm

Going Forward

yes i liked it yes i know the second season is more heavily serialized yes i will watch that soon

this did make me think about how all seriality in TV these days seem to be about building up to one series-wide showdown as opposed to different seasons having their own mytharcs, but that has less to do with this show specific and more with the death of television as a medium and we ain't got time for that

given how much my exposure to this show beforehand was Lumity (to the point where i wasn't sure there were other characters besides Eda) i'm...kinda surprised at how sparse Amity's presence was in this season. i liked what we did see of her, but i went in expecting a lot more antagonism for a lot longer in that dynamic

but i guess that's tied in with this season not having much in the way of antagonism until the very end, and not-Hordak seems to be the only one actually invested in his whole world order. we don't have any sympathetic true believers, which I assumed would be Lilith and/or Amity? i guess neither Shadow Weaver nor Catra really gave a shit about the Horde's ideology either, but Shadow Weaver remained an unrepentant ball of spite until the end and it didn't really matter that Catra didn't give a shit about the Horde because the Horde was the only thing she knew. in contrast Amity and Lilith's ties to the existing system feel very shallow--in the latter case so much so it kind of boggles my willing suspension of disbelief?

i suppose the next season can change that, i know new characters get introduced so--

Let’s see Fizz handle Mammon’s BS. SPOILERS and long post warning

Well the video’s image already confirms Mammon is evil and seems to have an odd relationship with Fizz, but that was a given fact.

Let’s be honest, Mammon could have treated that Imp kid much worse so its nice to see him not.

I’d brag that I was right about Mammon exploiting Fizz, but that was obvious from the start.

You’d have to admire Mammon for being honest about his feelings.

The moon of the Greed ring is a giant coin, but it looks like a hologram of some kind to me.

So that’s why Fizz was cautious towards that fan on the “Ozzie’s” episode. I also feel like it’s a joke making fun of hardcore fans of a franchise, who think their ideas should become actual canon in said franchise.

Froggie? I get that’s its likely referencing how Fizz jumps around, but what’s wrong with Fizzy? Wait wasn’t Blitzo called that in “Western Energy”, and was insulted by it?

Obviously we all love seeing Ozzie care about Fizz’s happiness and wanting to protect him from his fans and Mammon, but I don’t fully believe Ozzie when he says he doesn’t want to build sex robots that look like him. Maybe he wants the robots for himself XD.

While Ozzie is talking to Blitzo, you can see one of his rooms having gear designs on the wallpaper. I know it’s been confirmed that he is a skilled inventor, but I like seeing that as it shows the writers are showing that he is more than just the embodiment of lust/Fizz’s boyfriend.

IDK about you but Ozzie’s new outfit makes him look like Valentino a bit. There has been a joke about how "Val is copying Ozzie" so maybe it’s a joke about that, just neither are copying each other and its just coincidence?

Just like Stolas can, Ozzie can become a pile/form of something, in this case fire. Could this be enough to confirm that he is part phoenix like I brought up before? I also feel like it’s a joke about the “flames of passion” saying.

Helsa von Eldritch!?!? Oh wait that's not her, just girls named Glitz and Glam. Apparently they are voiced by the VA who voiced Katie Killjoy in the pilot. I wonder if their audio will be used in future fan made Katie Killjoy funny vids?

What’s with the spider webs? Is Mammon supposed to be a spider demon? Could it be a refence to Angel Dust?

I’ve been waiting to talk about that scene of the girl getting her eyes burn ever since it appeared in the 2022 trailer. First off I can strangely see pics of her and that Imp she was on becoming a couple, if you ignore the sign she had. I could see a comic where he took her to a hospital which she finds sweet and then the rest is history. I can also see a comic where Lilith Morningstar forces Mammon to pay for her medical bills due to a combination of not liking Mammon and as revenge for his statement about women not being funny.

Mammon keeps claiming he never had a son, which I feel like is building up to the reveal of Wacky Wally being his son. Fingers crossed :3

Blitzo can still do the Spider-Man upside down hanging. That is going to make a lot of Blitzo X Stolas fans happy XD

The moment with the deaf child has to be the cutest moment in the season so far.

It’s that stalker guy from before, he surprisingly looks good after all that time.

MAMMON IS A SPIDER DEMON! Honestly I don’t really like that as we have enough animal demons as it is, so it would have been nice if he was similar to what Lucifer is, or a few of the fallen angels that still look like angels to some capacity.

Why hasn’t Fizz tried calling Ozzie for emotional support?

You can see a game called Fizzopoly in the background. Knowing the real life Monopoly brand, I can see that becoming a real toy one day, or at least a Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss themed one. Would you buy it if it was a real thing?

There’s Ozzie. Also “character too big to get through door” cliché, but at least he can teleport to solve that problem.

There first “I love you” moment!

I know it was just played for fun, but I wonder if Blitzo (at this moment in time) is a bit jealous of Ozzie being with Fizz. That or he is just that neutral about it but he expresses it in insults.

I’m just noticing the electricity Mammon gives off. With Ozzie having fire, I wonder if this means the other sins have master of a certain element or something similar, except Lucifer who has mastery of all. Leviathan would obviously be water, Bee I think would have air via flapping wings, and maybe Satan could be Earth though that’s where my theory breaks down as we have seen Imps use and control fire too.

I wonder if this episode is giving us a glimpse of what Angel Dust is going to go through with Valentino in Hazbin Hotel?

Wait is that Ozzie’s full demon form? It looks more like a power up. Hopefully that is the case and maybe one day we can see a proper full demon form.

Muppet Fizz meme parody. Still hoping for a Ozzie as Cookie Monster parody someday. Also one of the guys 3 phones has a text saying “expect fan art soon”, once again showing how self-aware the writers are about the fandom.

WAIT NO FIGHT!! DAMMIT!!

Mammon says Ozzie is going to regret revealing his feelings to everyone, but I don’t see how Ozzie is going to face consequences for his actions. The only thing I can think of is a scenario where the other sins make the two go through an investigation similar to that one episode of “Parks and Recreation” just to see if Ozzie did something big for Fizz via favoritism that could be unfair for other demons or worst case scenario, get Hell in trouble with Heaven. Is it possible that the Goetia community could use this somehow, like overthrow Ozzie, or something related to what’s going on with Blitzo and Stolas? Could this start some kind of war, like Mammon has lost some profits (like $100 worth) and just decides the best thing to do is kidnap Fizz and force him to work for him? Mammon is pretty dumb, so I could see him doing such a thing.

I hope we see the twins come back one day. I could definitely see them becoming rivals of Verosika Mayday.

Looks like Ozzie platonically likes Blitzo now, if him smiling about his sexual question is any indication. I wonder if this will result in Ozzie trying to help Blitzo and Stolas get together!

Another great episode. I really liked how I was another episode centered around a reoccurring character like Fizz with little to no Blitzo, which is good from time to time. I also think having the VA of Knifey being the VA for Mammon is a perfect fit.

I definitely love that I was pretty close to getting the plot of the episode right, while also improving on it such as having Fizz wanting to try and be the best for himself instead of being blinded by idolizing Mammon.

The biggest thing I disliked about the episode was that we didn’t get to see Ozzie and Mammon fight, I mean come on we were so close. Maybe if we had less songs we could have gotten it. I also didn't like Mammon and Ozzie's demon forms as they don't look that different compared to seeing Stolas go all demon. Hopefully that was some kind of mid transformation, as turning into their fun demon form could have destroyed the whole area alone.

According to the order of upcoming Helluva Boss episodes, looks like the next episode will be a Stolas episode, and with the name “The Full Moon” it sounds like we will learn a bit more about Stolas’ book and FINALLY learn why he needs it on such nights. It’s also likely going to have Stolas and Blitzo get on better terms and maybe start off as being friends this time before becoming a couple later in the season.

I think it would be fitting to have the episode come out on the day/night of an acutal Full Moon, like the creators of Helluva Boss use to do with the character instagram accounts.

Alright, people listen up. Fnaf is a janky lovable mess of a lore that needs fixing, I myself have not played a single game or read any of the books, but like all of you know it's potential is absolutely massive all it needs is more ironing out and fixing several inconsistencies so that's what I'm going to do how? Well, here's the thing about fnaf it's scared to move on from William, and it always tries to bring him back, and the story that was trying to be told ultimately got so lost via miss interpretation that I don't feel like anyone in reality knows what the lore is except for Scott himself and steel wool, so I'm going to rewrite it in a way that makes the lore in my opinion make more sense starting with the two main men themselves.

William and Henry, now I understand why people see these two as essential to fnaf because they are, they literally started everything...Buuuut there's a problem, William as far as we know is a legitimate killer who killed Henry's daughter (who as far as everyone's concerned is Charlotte/Charlie) for seemingly no reason then when he discovered began to experiment with life and honestly to me that doesn't seem good enough...So I'm gonna split Williams goal of immortality out of him and I'm going to give it...To a new character, now hold on I'm not going into crazy insane "Ocs everywhere!" Territory, I'm making one new character named Marcus a kind of third party to make William and Henry not a duo but a trio each with different ideologies, Henry is similar to cannon however that's not saying much because there's not a lot in cannon, what he is though is a man who feels like whatever his friends have done is his fault and that it's all up to him to fix it because it's his mess and no one else's. William is a man who's a legitimate psychopath, or at least BECOMES one after a certain event. Markus is a man who can't except that the past happens and aims to "fix all of it" by "undoing the tragedy." And in doing so has only created more tragedy.

Then we come to the children of William and Henry...Oh boy this is a doozy because, honestly, I'm not 100% sure this change is a good idea, but I'm going to make the crying child aka Evan (in this rewrite at least) be Markus's son because it gives Markus a reason for what he does even if it's not right.

Alright so the timeline goes as fallows

Henry Emily a very good at playing the system businessman, William Afton a man who's good at manipulating events to fit a narrative and a manipulater on a human level, and Marcus a bright man who's heavily into robotics meet in high-school and become friends, fast forward a few years later and William comes up with the concepts for two characters he dubs "Fredrick van Fazbear" a golden Grizzly bear with a voice like honey butter and a obsession with food and "Springsy" a golden magician rabbit who only wants to preform for kids, and from that idea Henry pulls some strings and Marcus starts to make the machines and by the end of the year their company Fazbear entertainment is opened with resounding success in their first ever location called fredbears, and everything goes well, they get money, and nothing seems to go wrong, then at some point Marcus and Henry started to take all of the credit, now while admittedly they were very important, Henry handled all of the Financials and expandansion of the fazbear brand, because of him they even got a TV show called freadbear and friends that was on it's third season, and Marcus did do most of the designing and the manufacturing of the animatronics, heck he even invented the revolutionary spring lock technology and managed to get a small deal with a friend to make a arcade cabinet for the fazbear brand, but William? Well, he was the guy who handled the front lines. If worker morale was down or if people were going through a tough time, he'd be there to make sure that they got home early and still got paid for full hours, he'd keep the workplace positive and was legitimately everyone's favorite boss man, hell even the customers liked him whenever they'd interact with him, and he made the ideas for the animatronics, the idea for this brand wouldn't have even existed without him! But somehow, he was still seen as the lesser of the three, and well, let me remind you, William IS a psychopath, he isn't going to just stand by...So he waited...And waited...And eventually he saw his opportunity when he found Henry's daughter, Charly locked outside of fredbears by some boys, he took his chance on oh pore little Charlotte had died...At least it seemed like she did...The puppet, a fourth member of the cast added when he was introduced in the fredbear and friends TV show first aired had been acting strangely and while William either didn't notice or care enough and Henry was drinking his sorrows away Marcus took note...Then a few days later Marcus's wife Barbra was hit by an oncoming car. And being devastated, he began to drink and lash out at his son Evan. The pore kid didn't deserve it, but he just did, then eventually he found out it was a purple car... Recently, William had mentioned his car broke down, so he was getting it replaced. He WAS purple, and he just so happened to show up only moments after Emily's estimated death time... By the puppet... then it all just kinda clicked, and he was furious. He was going to bring the wrath of God to William! But then stopped... The puppet, when William killed Charly the puppet wasn't right after, almost like it was...Charly. The thoughts of his dead wife circled in his mind... Then he came to an conclusion, he met with William, and they had a deal or sorts... One that William agreed to knowing that if Marcus went to the police that he'd be done for. And so began our little horror story...

"Project remnant."

And that's where I'm stopping here. Should I continue? Let me know because I do have ideas for this new lore that could be awesome to exploit mainly with Marcus and how this story will really end, which it will consider fnaf one through pizzaria sim to be part of one continuous story that ends at pizzeria simulator even if that doesn't mean the story itself won't continue it will it'll just be much more diffrent, that is all I have to say for now. Not exactly Halloween content but she’s a witch so it kinda counts?

Putting that aside I actually wanted to do something for my personal Skylanders anniversary, since it’s now been exactly 10 years since I got my very first Skylander - Hex. Thinking about that makes it almost impossible to believe because it still feels like I just got into this franchise recently, but time works in funny ways I guess. Last week however, it really did hit me what that truly means and I want to write a little more for the occasion.

Ten years ago (I don’t have an exact date I just remember October) a 10 year old me finally decided to buy my first Skylander after obsessing over it all summer. I haven’t fully realized it yet, but Hex has been my instant favorite the moment I saw her. A little strange for a 10 year old but also telling. And despite that being such a big moment in retrospect, looking back I don’t really remember that day all that well. I was excited obviously, but other than that it was a normal day with a relatively normal event - I bought a brand new toy. She’s then been sitting on my desk for two more months until I finally got the first game for christmas, and of course she was the very first Skylander I placed on the portal as well. That moment I remember. That was the moment where I truly believed magic was real. Seeing this figure of this character who I’ve grown so connected to appear on the screen in front of me and come to life. Today I even dug out my Wii and first portal to play the game again after five years, (in 2017 I last replayed SSA) and even now I can still feel a little spark of that magic whenever I put Hex on the portal.

Hex is not only my favorite Skylander, she quickly became my favorite fictional character in general. I think the fact that out of all these colorful and weird characters the one you immediately fall in love with is a dark gothic witch is proof that you really mean it and that you’re a certified weird kid. Not only visually did she speak to me, but also her powers and especially her story. A powerful sorceress sacrificing herself for the people of Skylands just to become a feared outcast in return. It’s one of the rare Skylander bios which tells us a lot about the Skylander as a character and explains exactly why they are the way they are. It’s always been fascinating to me that despite being treated like that for centuries, she still held her head up high and continued to do good. I can relate to her in more aspects than I’d like to admit. She’s an inspiration for me and a great source of motivation regarding any Skylanders related project. Heck, she’s the main reason I got and still am into this franchise in the first place. I love many of the characters, but none could ever come close to the adoration I have for her.

I know this all sounds overly sentimental and maybe even crazy considering that she is just one of many faces made for a game with the main purpose of pulling money out of your pockets. Not to say the Skylanders were made without any thoughts or passion put into them, quite the opposite, but when you look at each of them individually it’s often hard to see more than just their unique designs and punny catchphrases. Hex is one of the lucky ones with a more distinctive personality and story, but even then you might not consider her that special. For me, thinking about Hex was always about analyzing what we had and adding onto that. What were her former friends like? How did the battle with Malefor go? How exactly do people react to her and why? How are her relationships with the other Skylanders? How does she feel throughout all that? At this point I’d like to call her my OC with all the headcanons I piled onto her. Ultimately, she’s still the character everyone sees on the surface, a cold and mysterious witch possessing unfathomable undead powers. And on the very surface she’s just the token goth, which also counts for something.

I could go on and on about my feelings for Hex, but I’ll end it here. She means the absolute most to me and I couldn’t imagine my life without her, as ridiculous as it sounds. She has helped me through many different times in life, good and bad, and I will forever hold her dear in my heart for that.

Here Comes The Sun!

2022 is dead, thank God. After last year being the sort of year where the living envy the dead (my wedding was pretty much the one good part of the year), I thought our first review of the year should focus on someone bright and optimistic, so we start the year off on the right foot and hopefully go into a 2023 that’s at least a little better. So today, we’re looking at “Masters of the Universe Masterverse Sun-Man!” Is the Ruler of the Sun the hero you need?

We’ve talked about the Masterverse line before, but it’s been a while, so let’s do a refresher. Masterverse is the “He-Man” brand’s entry into the collector-aimed 6 inch figure line. It has a focus on detail and articulation, and also brings in iterations of the characters from the franchise’s vast history. Expect accessories, interchangeable parts, and a lot of potential for display. Also expect a bigger price.

Sun-Man himself is the prince of an alien world who calls upon the power of the sun to transform into a mighty hero with super strength, indestructible skin, and general sun powers. He’s compassionate and brave, and battles the evil Pig-Head to defend his world. The character was created in the 80′s to provide a role model to black kids, since pretty much every hero on the shelves was a white guy at the time, and has since been brought back as part of the Masters of the Universe toy lines thanks to a business deal between the original creators and Mattel. I first found out about Sun-Man when I saw his MOTU Origins figure at Walmart and absolutely loved his outfit and accessories, which led to me learning more about the character and really liking him. Sun-Man’s Masterverse figure looks absolutely beautiful. I mean, Good Lord. I love his design so much. Sun-Man’s design is a very modern update on the original look, with a lot of detailing and style. The original toy’s wings looked like a cape flying behind him. The Masterverse figure, however, gives Sun-Man a glorious pair of semi-translucent angel wings that are just stunning to look at in person. I absolutely love those wings so much. The rest of the figure is simply fantastic-looking as well, and I love the level of attention that went into this design, but those wings are what hooked me. Also, it’s very much worth noting that, like almost everyone else in “Masters of the Universe,” Sun-Man is jacked. I mean, this guy is all muscle. What you don’t realize until the toy’s in your hands, though, is that he looks like he has NEVER missed Leg Day. Dude’s thighs could crush stone.

Sun-Man always remembers the golden rule of the sun: “Sun’s Out, Guns Out.”

In terms of articulation, Sun-Man’s great, as you can expect from most 6-inch figures these days, He’s very posable, with joints all over his body, which means you can go nuts with putting him in dynamic poses. There’s only two real issues here: Sun-Man’s skirt armor actually does limit his leg poses a bit. You can still get some dynamic stances out of him, but the skirt does hinder what he’s capable of. The second issue is that, due to how the wings are designed, they can’t fold behind Sun-Man. That’s much more of a “me complaining because I would love that” than a real issue though. Side note: this figure is absolutely made for a flight stand to display him on. I mean, just look at him! You need this guy airborne!

“BIIIIIIIRRRRRRRDDDDDDD MAAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!”

Sun-Man comes with two extra hands that you can swap out pretty easily. So far, the hands fit pretty snugly in his wrists, which is what I want, so no complaints here.

Guess I got him ”red handed!” Huh? Get it? “Red Handed?” Because his gloves are...? I’ll show myself out.

 He also comes with his spear, which fits very well in his hands, and his shield, which fits very well on his arm via two straps. 

Evil beware, or Sun-Man’s going to jab you in the eye!

Be careful with the shield, though. It fits best with Sun-Man’s open hand, and if you’re not careful with it or use the wrong hands when putting it on, you risk damaging the soft plastic straps that hold it on.

Fun Fact: if a hero with a round shield throws their shield, Marvel’s lawyers WILL come after them.

“Masters of the Universe Masterverse Sun-Man” can be found at general retail for about $22, and he’s marketed for kids ages 6+. I found mine alone in the main toy aisle, but also found a bunch of Sun-Man figures hidden away in the clearance aisle, so depending on how lazy some clerk was feeling that day, you might have to hunt a little to find him, a task that is absolutely worth it. I feel like kids would absolutely love this figure, but just be careful. His extra hands are small and can be easily lost. I personally would save Masterverse figures for older kids, who know how to play with toys without breaking them, and would get younger kids the Origins figures. Overall, though, I would highly recommend this figure. He’s a fun toy with a lot to offer and a character I think kids would love today as much as they did in the 80’s. biggest goal in life for all of them

Just wanna start off with that the kids are fourteen. So some of their life goals are... well, just regular boring goals that kids usually have. So these might not be all that interesting. Also, this might be a long post, but I love writing about these kids so personally I don't mind.

But either way, here we go!

Misty

To start the group off, I'll go with the twins. Starting with who has become somewhat my favorite out of the group. The younger of the Fenton twins.

Misty's biggest goal in life is to become a famous musician. She loves music, and she has played both guitar and drums since a young age. Guitar because she saw it on TV and thought it looked cool, and drums because as a kid she had a pretty bad temper (still do, to be honest) and would often be the first one to throw a punch. Danny and Sam didn't want to put her into any kind of martial arts or physical activity because they worried that it would encourage her to keep using violence, so they put her into drum classes. Surprisingly, Misty fell in love with the instrument and has played it every since. She uses it to calm herself down when she's mad or upset.

And despite her dyslexia making it difficult for her to read the sheet music, she is at the current point in time attempting to teach herself piano. Simply because she's that in love with music. It's become her comfort zone.

Jax

Jax is...

You could easily call him lazy. Though it wouldn't exactly be the right word to use. Because it's not that he doesn't have the energy or finds it too much of a hassle, he's just generally unmotivated.

For pretty much anything.

He doesn't have a proper goal in life. Not even the kind of general "I want to become X when I get older" type. He's just not reaching for anything simply because he's always assumed that he'll be joining the Fenton Family business (basically ghost fighting and superhero work), just like Danny. Which means that he has no motivation to make a real effort into getting proper grades in school, doesn't have any motivation to put any effort into anything unless he feels a specific interest, or has any intention of reaching towards anything.

Which is, in itself pretty sad. Because, just like Jazz, Jax inherited that genious Fenton brain. But he is extremelly gifted with inventing and even the programming aspect of it. Just like his grandparents, and Sam's great grandfather (I think it was). He's the one that created Aeleigh's gauntlets based on the old Ghost Gauntlets design. Although, he's the one that managed to make them capable of shrinking down into Aeleigh's green shaded bracelets.

Aeleigh

And speaking of Aeleigh. She wants to be an artist.

Now, she hasn't really figured out what type of artist yet, though. If she wants to become an online creator and make a profit through commission work, or if she wants to try and pursue a professional career at a studio. Kind of like creating characters for shows or make designs for video games. Maybe illustrate books, for example. Or create her own comic. She doesn't really know yet.

But she wants to become an artist. And I'd say she's pretty good at it. She's the one that made the picture of the pale woman with hands covered in dripping gold that Misty has on her bedroom wall.

Lennie

Okay, so the thing about Lennie is that while she does have a goal, she doesn't really have a goal. Which needs some explaining.

Lennie is Paulina's daughter, and Paulina has managed to make it big as she grew up. Partly because she's from a rich family and thus has a safety network to fall back on. But also because she managed to snag a few modeling gigs which then lead to brand deals and then ended up with her creating her own make up brand. After breaking it off with Dash just a few months after having Lennie, Paulina met and later married a fashion designer that she met during one of her modeling jobs. Later having two sons with him. Creating the so called perfect family.

Basically, she still lives under that same type of "I'm perfect" attitude as she did in high school. And Lennie isn't just the elder sister, but she's also Paulina's only daughter. And her whole life Lennie has lived under that pressure of living up to her successful, beautiful and perfect mother.

Her goal in life, ever since she was young, has been to live up to those expectations. To be that perfect daughter. Basically to be just like her mother. Even when it comes to gymnastics, something she's practiced and even competed in since she was young, she puts pressure on herself to be at the very top because anything else wouldn't be perfect.

And it has to be perfect.

What color was the last nail varnish you wore? Can’t remember all that well as I rarely have my nails painted. It might have been purple, maybe? Purple with some glitters. I kind of remember getting that done a few months ago.

How about your laptop? And what brand is it? This laptop has been going strong since 2017, man. Six whole years and counting. I made the most use out of it throughout college and in my first working year, but given that I only ever use it for doing surveys these days it’s enjoying a much longer lifespan than I expected it to have.

I got some nice new mugs recently. What does your favorite mug look like? It’s this one from Starbucks:

Do you own any mugs with a picture of an animal on them? Yeah I availed a fanmade kit from a local shop in celebration of BTS’ anniversary two years ago, and a mug was part of the inclusions. It has a number of the band’s symbols as designs, like stars and a whale.

Do you own any items that have your initial on them? No I’m not a fan of personalizing my things.

Do you own any items that have a Disney character on them? As far as I know, no.

When was the last time you had a box of chocolates? What kind were they? My mom’s godmother recently visited the country after 25+ years and she got a box of chocolates for us. I haven’t gotten to checking it out much as I’m not a super big fan of chocolate haha but it’s essentially different variations – there’s chocolate with coffee filling, another with caramel, another with coconut, etc.

How long have you had the headphones/earbuds that you currently use? It’s been at least a couple of months.

The last time you checked the mail, was there anything for you? Nope.

Is there anyone you’ve had regular video calls with, during the pandemic? No, I hated video calls at the time. It’s only been recently when I started to be more comfortable with them.

Do you remember what you were doing at 8PM on Saturday? I was having dinner with my family.

Of all your relatives & close friends, whose birthday is closest to yours? Dev’s is just a day before mine.

Did you have a cake on your last birthday? What kind? Nope. I opted for ramen instead, haha.

What were some of your favorite foods/meals as a child? I couldn’t get enough of Pancit Canton as a kid that eventually my mom stopped getting it for a time because of how unhealthy it can be to be eaten regularly. 

What were some of your favorite drinks as a child? Eh, just water. I’m not so adventurous when it came to beverages.

Are there any foods/drinks that you loved as a child, but dislike now? For the most part it’s the opposite for me because I used to be a REALLY picky eater and now I’ve learned how to eat and love everything, hahaha. A favorite 180º change of mine would probably be curry; I used to dread it when I found out that’s what was for dinner, and now I could have it literally everyday.

Which of your physical features do you receive the most compliments on? My figure, hands, and eyelashes. What traits/qualities do you have, that you believe others appreciate? I’m good at reading people, so I go ahead of them in terms of things they might be needing help with but might be too shy to raise. It’s stuff like, “Do you need a ride home?” “Do you need me to pay for this first?” “Do you need me to go talk to her?” and the moment their eyes light up that make me think they do appreciate the initiative to an extent.

Do you have any friends that you communicate with every day, in some form? Angela is the person who best fits this. We do talk everyday these days.

When you woke up today, what kind of mood were you in? So groggy. I slept at around 3 AM, so when my mom woke me up to prepare for church I wasn’t exactly awake awake yet.

What was the last food or drink you had, that you hadn’t tried before? Wasabi powdered fries. Turned out really good and not spicy at all!

What was the last song you listened to, that you hadn’t heard before? Bittersweet by Seventeen’s Wonwoo and Mingyu, and LeeHi. Instant fan.

When do you next plan to eat something? Do you know what it will be? Probably in a couple of hours and most likely it’ll just be something light to pass the hunger.

So, to finish, what’s your favorite position to sleep in? On my side, clutching a pillow.
