I was driving across town yesterday came out of a construction zone and saw something weird on the side of the road ahead of me. About 3 homeless guys were standing over something that was sticking out in the road. As I drove passed I realized it was legs or a guy laying on his back. Then I saw another man walking toward them on the phone. I literally said to my bf, "What the fuck did we just see?"

When I looked back in my rearview mirror I saw an suv pulled to the side of the road, windshield smashed, and realized the guy had been hit by a car. We had been having a good time (shopping for a vanity) and singing along to the music, but now we were both just silent and tight-lipped. I white knuckled it to our next stop and then once I was parked and turned off the car, I had a panic attack, and then walked through Home Depot, crying. I lost a student in a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident a few years ago, and apparently, not over it.

Anyway, on the news last night they said the guy had died. He was drunk and wandered into oncoming traffic on a very busy, 4 lane, road with a speed limit of 50 mph. He never stood a chance.

Anyway, please be careful! There's nowhere you need to be that is so important that driving recklessly is needed (the driver was not being reckless in this case, nor with the accident my student was in, but it's a good reminder). Also pedestrian rules are there because the car will always win. Cross in the crosswalks, cross with the light, double and triple check before you cross. Even if the pedestrian does have the right of way (which is not the case here) fat load of good that does you when you're dead.

Also, if you must drink, please do it somewhere that's safe. This man, who by all accounts was having a hard time (apparently he was the cousin of someone I went to school with and am in contact with on facebook, even though I don't really remember her). He made some bad choices yesterday. And because of that, he lost his life, shattered his family, drastically affected the life of the driver, who was just going about their business on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Maybe this poor man's legacy can be to remind all of us to be aware of ourselves in space and how our choices affect so many others that we don't even know exist.

going insane thinking about the harrow and palamedes friendship. harrow, who has never met another necromancer her age forming a bizarro 3D chess rivalry while pal worries about her safety at every possible turn. harrow, who is up to her eyebrows in paranoia and secrecy, trusting the sixth house with gideon unconscious and hurt, letting them into the ninth house quarters unsupervised. if “i cannot conceive of a universe without you in it” is goth for i love you, “death first to vultures and scavengers” has got to be goth for i love you (platonic). pal’s first reaction when harrow comes into his bubble in the river is to scoop her up in a hug, and at this point she doesn’t remember anything about him because cutting out all her memories of gideon is impossible without cutting out memories of the sixth, but she still makes him a skelehand to inhabit anyway. when harrow’s memories are finally whole, she tells dulcinea she couldn’t face pal knowing that his pen pal girlfriend died on her account, but the next time she “faces” him, palamades’s soul is in someone else’s body and harrow’s body is full of nona’s soul. he spends six months protecting and caring for harrow’s body (and nona obv), believing in the possibility of bringing her back to it the same way cam believed in him. “god, do you know i miss harrow terribly.” and by the time harrow comes back to her body at the very end of ntn, pal is gone forever, fully pauled. the last time harrow and palamades see each other as their complete selves is in canaan house, alive and unlyctored. two of the smartest and loneliest people in the solar system meet each other in the worst of circumstances and spend the rest of the story dancing around each other as fragments of themselves, trying to care about each other in the interim but never fully meeting like they did the first time. a friendship made almost entirely of missing the other person. “do you know i miss harrow terribly.” god. i need to lie down

Thinking about how Diavolo’s feelings transcend time and how in the Nightbringer UR+ card Demon Lord’s Castle Tour this conversation happens.

When asked, “Do you wish to see your father?”

Diavolo responds:

“I suppose I do . . .” isn’t the typical reaction to how a child would feel about wanting to see their parent. Especially when said parent has essentially been in a coma for a year.

Along with how Diavolo describe his father.

It makes more sense why when you learn in Lesson 56 how Diavolo was treated by him growing up.

Diavolo can tell when others are lying but is unable to understand his father’s intentions.

Diavolo mentions that he lived a very sheltered life growing up. That from a young age his father never allowed him a chance to talk to anyone outside the castle.

His childhood friend was Mephistopheles. A demon literally RAISED to be his friend. Putting a barrier between the two because Mephistopheles would put Diavolo on a pedestal.

The isolating childhood he experienced riddled with his strict father constantly scolding him.

Despite everything MC is so important to him he wants to see his father again so we can meet.

I think Vulcans should nuzzle their faces together when they like each other but it's like, not something you do in front of other people. That's something to do in private or if you're a little kid. Babies don't really know how to do this properly and are prone to just headbutting their parents/siblings instinctually. They want to 'get closer' to what they feel telepathically emanating from the people around them. This nuzzling is a form of telepathic communication but it's very unskilled (a baby can and will do it) and you only get broad feelings/thoughts from it. But that's alright bc typically the only feeling/thought you're hoping to get from or communicate with such an action is 'I like you'.

The "Sansa reminds Sandor of his sister" motive that some people try to hitch to his character really just flies in the face of his actual attachments to her, doesn't it? Sansa reminds Sandor of himself. He sees the little boy who used to love knights in this girl who's been swept up by the same romanticism. He sees his abuser in her abusers, the much larger knight(s) beating on the helpless child. He sees how she is betrayed by every level of authority that should have saved her and remembers his father's neglect and Tywin and Robert's apathy for Gregor's crimes. He's protective of Sansa because he was Sansa.

And GRRM's design, that one of the strongest warriors in the series, a fearsome and cynical 6'8" guy who's "muscled like a bull" and has the face of death itself, sees himself in this soft and effeminate teen girl, and empathizes with her because he was an abuse victim too, is INFINITELY more compelling than "Oh yeah I bet she just reminds him of his sister," who he's never mentioned and who we know literally nothing about. Way to unnecessarily water down a character, you couldn't have ignored the black and white text more efficiently if you tried.

I would like to say I don’t understand why this shit keeps happening, but I actually do understand it way too well. It just makes me so sad and angry. Especially on a site where people find and make their communities.

So much of this is about ego, and the people with power wielding that power to protect themselves and failing to protect others with it. A mere hint of negative sentiment towards them is harassment that is dealt with immediately and harshly, but a dozen complaints about discrimination or threats or bullying take ages to process and frequently come to unsatisfactory moderation decisions.

Whatever the sentiments of the people running this hellsite, you are always welcome in my corner of the internet, wherever you find it. You are all wonderful, and we all deserve to feel that part of this space belongs to us and those to whom we can connect.

Transphobia has no place on tumblr, period. Or anywhere else in society for that matter. It is that which should be being rooted out.
