This came out of the blue, as I don't usually do the de-aging AU. Don't ask me about the physics of it - something, something Fischler is an idiot. It's mostly about the the emotional reactions and ramifications. So, in a flash of explosion Scott is three... again. The family navigate their feelings about it, dealing with a confused child. Virgil and John discuss the what-ifs and what-nots. Scotty gets better eventually, or maybe worse... From a certain point of view.
A bow to @janetm74 , whose takes on the trope are always fascinating.
WAY LEADS ON TO WAY
It took some coaxing and a promise of pie to pry the child away from Virgil. Blue eyes, too big for the small face, were full of fear and reoccurring tears. The tiny body was trembling and skinny arms clung to Virgil's flanel shirt ever since the device blew up. Virgil didn't mind one bit, but they needed to run scans and tests making sure the boy... Scott was okay. Or as okay as could be, considering he was now about 25 years younger than should be.
Everyone froze as the boy asked for "Momma and Virgie" the first time and burst into tears. It, surprisingly, took Virgil's voice to dissuade the meltdown, as he was gleefully identified as "Dada" and got a little limpet attached to his torso. The flash of pain in Dad's, actual Dad's, eyes was not lost on either Virgil or Grandma. Virgil hugged the child closer, suddenly self-conscious.
Brains was already deep in the schematics of the malfunctioned device, confiscated earlier that day from a disaster site that happened to be one of Fischler's labs. Kayo was looking stormy, plotting possible bodily harm, although, knowing Fischler, not even enhanced interrogation could  yield reliable information on what happened and how to reverse the effects asap.
John watched Virgil with a now three year old Scotty, his expression unreadable. Eos was already tasked with simulations for reverse engineering the device. It being a Fischler's concoction, they couldn't risk hurting Scott as they would try to get him "back". Alan was shocked and looked a lot younger himself. Grandma hugged him with a reassuring word.
Gordon's natural skill with small kids proved handy, as he was quick to whip out Alan’s old toys from Neptune knew where and produced a heap of his own plushies. The little boy was suitably distracted and involved into play, making vroom-vroom noises with a dinosaur on a Lego plane. The window of calm didn't last long, though, as now little Scotty, obviously tired and confused, became cranky again and cried for Momma and Virgie. Virgil looked up at Dad, at a loss. The child obviously didn't remember much beyond being  'cotty, "this many fingers" old, Mom, and having a baby brother. Jeff, watching the boy with anguished yearning so far, as he got scared and ran to Virgil the first time around, stepped up again. The gruff words got the child shy at first, but Dad was patient explaining to Scotty "Momma and Virgie" were away on a long walk, so Scotty was left in charge at home, like a big boy. There's was a fair measure of tears in the rough gravel that strained Jeff's voice. All colors of eyes around were bright with tears too.
But the trick worked and after a moment of the tiny face frowning and considering more crying, Jeff was declared "Gan'pa!". The boy climbed into his lap, where he was now asleep, wrapped in Alan’s favorite childhood blanket. The small face relaxed from the strain and tears dried out - Scotty looked so sweet and happy.
It was decided to settle the child in Dad's room for the night. The infirmary, barren and unfamiliar, could scare him. And it would be more comfortable for Jeff to watch over the boy - a duty he vehemently refused to yield to any of his sons, who all volunteered readily. Gordon whisked Alan away for some brotherly soothing, as the kid was visibly shaken in the face of loosing biggest brother to the child he once was.
John squinted, eyes darting between Dad, doting and cooing over the tiny bundle of blankets, space-worn features softened and instantly younger too, and Virgil, clearly hesitant to leave. In the end, Jeff softly shooed the elder sons away - even at three Scotty had been a light sleeper.
John was headed to Brains' lab to assist with rebuilding the hapless device. Virgil tagged along, but for the moment they found themselves lingering in the dim hallway, outside of Dad's rooms. The events of the day were A LOT to absorb and to even begin to process. John caught Virgil stealing a glance back at the room, where the child was sleeping peacefully, deep in thought. John braced himself, as he was fairly certain he knew what his brother was thinking. As much as he knew he could never agree.
Virgil looked back, sadness mixed with hope in brown eyes.
"John, don't you think we should..."
"No!"
John didn't expect himself to yell and started, having to gulp down the rest of the protest, lest the child woke up. But Virgil was looking up at him, gaze already frantic with a fast assembling plan.
"I could adopt him! Or Dad. There won't be a legal problem! He's happy, Johnny! We can make sure he never gets hurt! Can you imagine?!"
Hope shone brighter over doubt in brown eyes, but John shuddered and stepped away from Virgil's reach. Because he COULD imagine. That pathway of probabilities was the first one through his mind, as a little boy crawled out of the dust and debris where their biggest brother was standing seconds ago. John COULD imagine. A Scott who had never held them all after Mom's funeral, a Scott, who never rocked Allie to sleep, crying for Mommy, a Scott, who never packed their lunches or picked them up from after-school clubs, because Dad was unavailable, floating in a sea of grief and work. A Scott they never lost to the horror of That Place. A Scott that never came back as a broken shell. A Scott that didn't give up every shred of himself to uphold Dad's legacy and step into Dad's shoes for them all. A Scott that wasn't blaming himself even now that Dad was back. A Scott that wasn't in pain. A Scott they could all see grow up and live a happy life he deserved.
John could see it all too well. It broke his heart to see Dad grasp at the impossible second chance to do right by the eldest son. He saw the eager plea in Virgil's eyes. And John near hated himself as every part of his soul was screaming in protest. Every selfish, terrified little brother part that was in agony at the prospect of losing the very foundation rock of their world - Scott the biggest brother, who loved them, and saw them, and cheered for them, and accepted them all for who they were, and shielded them in a world otherwise cruel and unyielding, a Scott who made sense of everything they were doing, of everything Dad was doing, even when they all drowned in hurt, grief, and resentment. A Scott who could tell them they could do it and they would believe it.
Making sure Scott got a chance at happiness meant loosing him for good. John squeezed his eyes shut against hot angry tears.
Virgil was still looking up at him, hesitant to offer unwarranted touch, and deeply worried. John took in a long stabilizing breath.
"Do you think... Do you think he'd want to never know us all, growing up?"
Virgil's face fell and John felt another pang of remorse.
As if on cue to that thought, the door to Dad's room slid open and tiny feet padded along the hallway. Virgil made a step to intercept the little fugitive, and crouched in front of the child, not to scare.
"What is it Scotty? Do you want some water?"
The boy was obviously drowsy from sleep, small hands rubbing the eyes.
"Wan'Virgie! Didn't say nite-nite t'Virgie! Where'Virgie?"
Big blue eyes were brimming with tears again, confused and desperate. Virgil picked up the feather-light frame and stood up, cradling the boy close and bouncing softly, whispering soothing nonsense to calm the child back to sleep. Brown eyes met a loaded gaze of the turquoise ones. Virgil knew John had a point. But it hurt to consider either way.
John stepped up closer, ruffling the boy's hair. Thunderbird Five, the Voice That Answers, was speaking now, but it was a brother's kiss on the child's temple:
"We'll help you find Virgie, Scotty! I promise! We'll help you get home! We've got you!"
The adult brothers exchanged another Look as the sniffles subsided and Scotty was falling asleep again.
John's comm pinged with a message from Brains. He got something on the device functions. It was quickly decided John would head to the lab. Dad obviously succumbed to the ever lingering fatigue and the stress of the day, so a woken up Scotty could escape. Virgil would stay in the lounge with the boy, watching over for more signs of distress or to mitigate more runaway attempts. Come morning, Gordon and Alan were to take over the babysitting duty. The villa was hopelessly NOT child-proof since Allie was past ten and Scotty's propensity for creative and agile jailbreaks was a significant part of family lore. Even if Brains was close to a reverse effect, they still would need to run tests and simulations, before even considering risking a child.
***
The last thing Scott remembered was a bright flash as the device he brought back for Brains to inspect heated up in his hands, vibrated and exploded. Now he was sitting flat on the floor in the hangar, ears ringing. A blur of motion in his periferal vision materialized in two bodies tackling him further down in a hug. Oomph, make it three bodies. Four. Alright, okay, he LOVED THEM TOO, but he needed to breathe. His ribs creaked. There were more pats down his shoulders and back, a brandished med scanner - unsurprising.
A bit more surprising was another hug, as he finally made it up off the floor and untangled gently, if wobbly, from the pile of brothers - Dad gathered him close in a fierce motion and held tight with no obvious intention to let go. It felt nice, of course, safe. But also worrisome. So for a moment Scott struggled with the conflicting urges to melt into the hug and to FIX whatever got Dad so scared. Jeff just tightened the embrace in response and Scott gave in, relaxing into being held.
He'd have to get to the bottom of it, as more arms joined the hold around him again, especially as he clearly heard Dad whispering "I'm so sorry, Bluejay! I love you so much, son". But for now he was warm, and snug, and obviously so welcome. He was home. Nothing ever felt better.

Chapter 26
"One Last Day"
A "Bad Batch" fanfic!
Pairing: Hunter x fem OC, Echo (more best friend pairing)
A/N: Well, back again! Ending the new year on...well, not the happiest of notes, I'm sad to say 😅 But you all knew this was coming, as much as it pained me to write all this. Hang in there, lovelies! Love you all and a Happy New Year to each of you 💜
Also, this chapter/title of this chapter was inspired by the song "One Last Day" by Two Steps From Hell, which also is a great song embodying Jesse and Kimber's relationship, even more so at this point in time. Give it a listen 😊

Explanation: Rex and Kimber travel to the moon where Jesse is buried so Kimber can say her final goodbye.
Tumblr media
Kimber was a little surprised the next morning to find she was still alone in the Marauder. Though, there was a blanket on top of her, so someone definitely had come while she'd been asleep. She had a strong suspicion that it had been Hunter. He'd probably gotten concerned when she hadn't come back to the Aurora. She felt a bit guilty for having cried herself to sleep, but she also knew Hunter most likely understood, hence why he'd left her alone.
The holopad with Jesse's message laid still in her palm and she clutched it tightly. Her emotions were beginning to swell again, but she inhaled deep through her clenched teeth and then released her breath slowly. She had to stay calm. She had to talk to Rex and she didn't want to get overly emotional again.
She stowed the holopad safely away in one of her packs in the room and then made her way back to the Aurora. She found everyone lounging around in the main area of the ship except for Tech and Irys. Omega was sitting on the floor making silly faces and noises at Kori, who was lying on his back in front of her while giggling and kicking his feet. They all heard her walk in and all eyes were on her right away. Hunter said her name as he saw her and went over to her quickly.
Placing his hands gently on her biceps, he looked into her eyes and asked, “How are you feeling? Are you okay?”
Kimber nodded. “I'm all right,” she said, her voice still a bit hoarse from crying the night before.
Hunter searched her face for any signs of deception. He could still sense a hint of heartbreak from her, but it wasn't as strong as it had been before. She didn't seem to be lying to him, which was good, at least. She genuinely seemed to be okay for now.
He cupped the nape of her neck and guided her head forward, touching her forehead to his. “I really am sorry, sweetheart,” he whispered.
“I know,” she said back.
As Hunter stepped back, Kimber was suddenly engulfed in a big hug from Kida, who said in her ear, “Rex told us what happened. I'm so sorry, Kimber.”
She hugged her friend back and replied, “Thank you, Kida.”
Then Rina came up and said, her voice low, “I remembered Jesse from Jakku. He was one heck of a soldier and a good guy. I know he was your friend and meant a lot to you. I'm sorry he's gone, boss lady. You gonna be okay?”
“I think I will be,” Kimber said back.
It was then Tech and Irys came in from the direction of the cockpit, debating with each other once again.
“No, Irys, our ship's hyperdrive does not require upgrading,” said Tech.
“It's an out of date model and, after the last debacle you informed me of with retrieving the lizard, it'll come to a point where even Echo can't fix it anymore,” Irys replied.
With an adjustment of his goggles, he stated, “Despite that instance, it is still fully functional and therefore, I see no reason to--” He heard a light chuckle and spotted Kimber as well as everyone else watching him and Irys and he ceased his arguing. Clearing his throat, he then said, “Kimber, it's good to see you back and my sincerest apologies for your loss. Are you well?”
“As well as I can be, yes,” Kimber replied, mustering up a small, reassuring smile.
“Do you need anything?” then asked Echo, a look of sympathy on his face.
She shook her head. “Not right now, but thank you.”
“Well, we're all here for you if you do,” said Wrecker. However, a few seconds later, he started groaning in pain and clutching at his head.
Kimber noticed this and forgot about her own troubles for a moment. “Is your head bothering you again, Wrecker?” she inquired.
“Yeah,” he said through a groan.
Rina immediately grew concerned. Something didn't feel right. Normally, a headache was nothing to be concerned about, but her senses were telling her otherwise that something was wrong with Wrecker.
He turned to Tech and said, “Tech, I need one of those med patches.”
“You used the last one,” Tech pointed out.
Rex, too, immediately picked up on the fact that something was wrong. Something he was all too familiar with. “What's wrong?” he asked suspiciously.
“Nothing. It's just a headache,” Wrecker answered through another groan.
“Which are becoming more frequent,” Echo added.
“Is that so?” Rex questioned, his eyes narrowing.
Then Rina spoke up in a more serious tone than anyone had ever heard from her, “Guys, I don't think it's just a headache. I can sense something abnormal about all of this. Something is very wrong.”
As Kimber looked down at her worried friend, Tech stated, mainly to Rex, “If you're concerned about the so-called inhibitor chips, don't be. Our deviant nature appears to have impeded their functionality. Except in Crosshair.”
Kimber inhaled sharply, both at the mention of Crosshair and the inhibitor chips. After what she'd heard in Jesse's message, she had a greater hunch that they were real and there was more to them than they all realized.
Then Rex asked with an anticipatory tone, “You're telling me you haven't removed your chips?”
“No, not yet,” answered Tech.
To everyone's surprise, Rex moved himself in front of the two kids, pushed aside his poncho and held his hand defensively over his holstered blaster, protective determination in his eyes.
Hunter saw this and put himself in front of the rest of his squad. “Rex?” he asked, a hint of warning and confusion in his voice.
“Rex, what are you doing?” then inquired Lex.
“Those chips make you a threat to everyone around you. Even her,” Rex told them, gesturing to Omega behind him. “You're all ticking time bombs.”
“Take it easy, Captain,” Hunter said, holding up a hand in defense.
Sounding more serious, Rex informed them all, “What's in your head is more dangerous than you can imagine. I've seen what happens when the chip activates, and I don't want to bury any more of our brothers.” His gaze found Kimber as he said that, remembering Jesse. Then his expression turned sad. “Trust me. It is not something you can control. I couldn't. It's a risk you do not want to take.”
Hunter looked at Omega, who looked both concerned and afraid. If what Rex said was true and they were a danger to even Omega with their chips still in their heads, then that meant they'd be a danger to Kimber, too. And Rina and Lex; everyone they cared about. He hadn't given much thought to the chips before, but after hearing Rex, he had a strong feeling in his gut that he couldn't ignore. He couldn't put his squad or his friends at risk.
“How do you suggest we get them out?” he asked Rex.
Seeing the Sergeant was willing to cooperate, Rex moved his hand away from his blaster and replied, “Good question. I'll be in touch.” Then he looked at Kimber again. “For now, you and I have somewhere we need to be.”
“What do you mean?” she asked back.
“I'm taking you to the crash site. You deserve to say goodbye to Jesse,” he replied.
She gasped. How did he know that's what she wanted? “But Rex, we can't. We have the chips to worry about. We have to find a way to get them out of the boys’ heads.”
“I know and we will,” said Rex. “Lucky for us, the moon the cruiser crashed on is in a nearby system. We can spare a few hours to a day to go there and then I'll bring you back. After that, I'll figure out a way to deal with the chips.”
Kimber wanted to continue debating with him about going, now that the threat of the inhibitor chips was looming over them, but then she felt someone take her hand. She looked to see Omega holding her hand and smiling comfortingly up at her.
“Go with him, Kimber. You need to so you can be happy again,” she reassured her. “We'll watch Wrecker while you're gone and make sure nothing happens. Everything will be okay, I promise.”
“She's right, princess,” added Lex, who gave a flourish of her vibroblade. “If anything goes down, we'll take care of it.”
Rina saw that and shot back, “Come anywhere near the big guy with that knife and you'll find it in one of your kneecaps.”
“Relax, Rina. It's just a precaution. One I'm certain we won't need,” Lex told her, sheathing her blade.
There was a hand on Kimber's shoulder and she found Hunter's loving gaze upon her. “Go, my love. We'll be fine.”
Having reassurances from her friends made Kimber feel a bit better about going with Rex. While she still felt uneasy about leaving her boys right now, she now felt sure that if things were to happen while she was gone, they would still be okay.
“All right,” she accepted.
“Then we'll leave right away. I'll take you to my ship,” said Rex, already making his way to the Aurora's exit.
“Wait, Rex!” called Kida, running after him. When she caught up to him, she said quietly, “I…I don't know when I'll see you next, but…I'll be thinking of you while you're gone.”
He softly caressed her cheek and replied, “And I'll be thinking of you...like I always do. I'm sure I'll see you again soon.” Then he walked away.
Kimber faced Hunter and took his hands. “Promise me you'll all be safe,” she said.
“I promise,” he responded. “Wrecker will be fine and should anything go wrong, we'll handle it. Don't worry about us.” He kissed her brow and then said, “Let us know when you're coming back. I hope this brings you the peace you need.”
“Thank you again for your support,” she said gratefully. “I'll see you soon.” Then she gave him a kiss on the lips and afterwards, ran off to follow Rex.
Tumblr media
Both Kimber and Rex ejected out of hyperspace in Rex's stolen BTL-B Y-wing fighter-bomber that he'd used to escape the cruiser crash. He was flying the ship while Kimber was seated in the gunner's bubble turret, where she could admire the wonders of traveling at lightspeed through the clear dome that covered her. They entered the atmosphere of the moon the crash site was on. As they passed through the clouds, they beheld a barren, desolate landscape and up ahead, they could see the wreckage of a Venator cruiser.
“There it is. The Tribunal,” said Rex over the ship's comms as they spotted the wreckage.
Kimber could feel a pit forming in her stomach. She dreaded what they would see when they landed. That and she'd also had time to think and wonder as they'd flown to the planet and now, she had a question she needed to know the answer to.
“Jesse told me in his message that something happened to the Clones that made them lose control; that he felt his  body and mind were taken over by something he couldn't see,” she said. “He said he'd even turned his blasters on you and your Commander, labeling you both traitors. On top of that, I remember seeing the Imperial file with Tech on when this crash was reported…and it was around when Order 66 happened.” She took a deep breath and leaned a bit forward to get a better look at the back of Rex's head below her. “Rex…I need to know…was everything that happened here because of Order 66?”
She saw him lower his head and then heard him answer, “Yes.”
Even though it still hurt to hear the truth, she at least was glad to know the truth. “There was more to the story of this crash than just that Sith prisoner getting loose and destroying the hyperdrive. Please Rex…tell me what really happened,” she pleaded.
As they continued on towards the crash site, he explained to her, “What I did tell you was true…but yes, there was more to it. The order came through from the Emperor and I could suddenly feel my will slipping away from me. I managed to fight it for but a few seconds; enough time to warn my Commander, Ahsoka Tano, before my troops and I fired on her. She's a very skilled Jedi and was able to evade us. The next thing I knew, I was hunting her through the ship and I couldn't stop myself. I was conscious of everything I was doing and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I'm sure Jesse said about the same in his message, didn't he?”
“He did, yes,” she answered sadly.
“I thought as much,” he said back.
It was then Kimber realized that the ship was moving closer to the ground and that they had reached the crashed Venator cruiser. As it landed, the nervous feeling inside her grew even more. She wasn't sure if she had the strength to leave the Y-wing and face the reality of Jesse's death. At least, Rex was with her and would be there to help her through this.
The dome hatch opened above her and she climbed carefully out of the ship. As her feet met the ground and her eyes lifted to the sight before her, she felt her heart twist painfully and her balance faltered. Her legs buckled, but lucky for her, she was caught in Rex's arms.
“Whoa, easy there, soldier. I've got you,” he consoled her, holding her around the shoulders.
“Rex…I don't think I can do this,” she admitted anxiously.
“Hey, it's like what you told me with Kida: the longer you wait, the harder it'll be for you to face this,” he said. “Don't worry, I'll be with you as much as you need me.”
“Could you…could you at least walk over there with me?” she requested timidly.
Rex squeezed her shoulders comfortingly and said, “Let's go.”
A couple yards away, Kimber saw the burial site of the Clones: dozens of grave marker sticks spread across the ground in front of the demolished cruiser with helmets placed on top of them. Some of the helmets were white while others were painted orange with a white symbol she'd never seen before. The sight of all the Clone graves tore at her heart.
Solemnly, she said aloud as she scanned the line of grave markers, “The Clones didn’t die for the Republic…they died with it.”
Though, what broke her heart immediately was the blue Clone helmet with the Republic symbol drawn on that was front and center from the rest.
Jesse’s helmet.
With every step closer, she could feel her heart sinking lower and lower and the feeling in her body fading away to numbness. This couldn't be real, but she knew it was. She and Rex both stopped in front of Jesse's grave marker and finally, she couldn't hold herself up anymore. Rex carefully guided her down to the ground, keeping a strong hold on her arms, and knelt beside her. Tears sprang to her eyes and her quiet crying began.
“Do you want me to stay?” she heard Rex ask her in her sorrowful haze.
Her eyes closed and a few more tears fell down her cheeks. “No…I need to do this alone now,” she told him, a break in her voice. “Thank you for getting me this far, Rex.”
The Captain laid a hand on her shoulder and simply responded, “Take your time, however long you need. I'll wait for you at the Y-wing.” With that, he stood up and walked away, letting his hand linger on her shoulder until he could no longer reach.
There on the cold, dirt-covered ground with the wind gently caressing her face and hair, Kimber knelt in front of the grave of her dear friend, Lieutenant Jesse, her hands over her heart and her eyes gazing up at his helmet. She recalled the moment she met him at 79’s over a year ago.
His eyes found Kimber and they widened ever so slightly. “Well, I haven’t seen you around here before.”
Kimber realized when he turned his head to look at her that Jesse had the Republic symbol tattooed over most of his head, originating on the right side of his face…and her heart ached for a brief second as it reminded her of Hunter.
She introduced herself by name to him and he replied, “Oh, the Bad Batch girl!”
“Oh stars…!” Kimber groaned, through she still grinned. “Is that really what you guys know me as?”
“I mean, yeah, kinda,” he said with a shrug.
Then Kix told him, “Apparently, she’s here by herself and she’s looking for Rex.”
Removing his arm from Kix, Jesse then explained, “Oh, well we got back from a mission earlier today and so Rex is currently at a briefing, but he said he’ll meet up with us here later.” Then he flashed her a smile. “You’re welcome to stay with us until he gets here.”
Kimber smiled back a little shyly and simply said, “Sure, yeah.”
“Great! My name is Jesse, by the way, in case you missed Kix saying it,” he said.
She chuckled. “I didn’t, but it’s a pleasure to meet you all the same. I wouldn’t mind your guys’ company for a while.”
“Sounds good to me,” said Kix.
Jesse took the seat on her opposite side and declared gladly, “Well then, Kimber…how about we buy you a drink?”
It felt like so long ago now that she’d met him. That night, he’d told her “any friend of Rex’s is a friend of ours” and he further proved that by offering to train her for a few months because Rex couldn’t. At that time, she had no idea of the journey she was about to undertake. Not only just the intense training akin to ARC Trooper training, but the relationship and friendship she would build with Jesse over the three months she spent on Coruscant with him. Memories of their time together flashed across her mind.
Training in combat together.
Getting drinks at 79’s with him and Kix.
The nights they’d spend watching holoshows.
The one night he told her about Umbara and Fives.
The mission on Rhen Var when she, Rex and Kix rescued him after being injured…the same night he confessed his feelings and kissed her for the first time, but she had to reject him.
Their final mission on Zeffo when she returned to the Bad Batch and said goodbye to him…for what would be the very last time. She remembered their final words to each other:
Jesse then stepped back and pointed a finger at her, smirking as he then stated, “When this war is over, our holoshow nights need to be a thing again. You can bring the boys, it will be fun!”
She chuckled. “Oh, the thought of the Bad Batch having a holoshow night with a reg…,” she voiced aloud. “I think that would be marvelous. Though, you have to promise me that you’ll get out of this war alive first.”
“I will only if you do, too,” he countered. He extended a hand out for her to shake.
Kimber took Jesse’s hand and grasped it tightly, sealing their promise to one another that they would do everything they could to stay alive through to the end of the Clone Wars.
“I’m sure our paths will cross again someday, but until that time: take good care of yourself, Lieutenant Jesse,” she said with a grin.
Grinning at her in return, he replied, “Until we meet again, Kimber Sallaros. I’ve had many missions in my time…but training you has been the best one by far.”
Kimber finally broke out into sobs of heartbreaking pain, her hands coming up to her face. “Oh Jesse…why did it have to end like this?” she asked aloud. “We promised each other we would survive the war and we would see each other again. Why did it have to be like this?” After letting herself cry for a few more short moments, she calmed down just a little and then looked back up at his helmet through blurred, tear-filled vision. “I can’t fathom how terrified you must’ve been in your final moments on this cruiser…and yet you remained steadfast and brave so you could send a farewell message to me. You always were one of the bravest soldiers I’ve ever known. I wish I had your courage, especially now. Facing this…the cold reality of war and loss…is maybe the greatest challenge I’ve had to face so far in my new life. After my parents, I haven’t lost anyone else to death until you…and the pain I feel is so great, I don’t know how I’m able to bear it. I know you would tell me that I’m strong enough to handle anything, but I don’t feel strong.”
She was silent for a moment, trying to figure out what to say and how to say it. There was so much she wished she could say, but she would be there for eternity if she said it all. Would it even matter, though? Could Jesse even hear her, wherever he was? For now, she had to believe he could. It was the only way she would get through this.
Then she spoke, “You’re part of why I am who I am today, Jesse. I left my squad in an uncertain time so I could become better for them and you helped me achieve that. You shaped me into the better soldier I am now. You were a friend and confidant when I needed one. You truly were one of the greatest friends I have and ever will have. I just...can’t believe you’re really gone. We were both supposed to survive the war…but as Hunter told me, such promises like that never have any guarantees in times of war. I suppose we both should’ve known better.” Her eyes drifted down the ground in front of her; to the mound under which she knew Jesse’s body laid and she pressed her hand down on the earth, her tears sinking into it. “I can’t thank you enough for all you did for me. For your friendship and your love. I know I told you I loved you in a different way…but that was a lie. The truth is…I did love you, Jesse.” Her tears started falling faster as she wept once more. “I loved you…I loved you more than I ever should have. I still wanted to be with Hunter and yet, I fell in love with you anyway. I’m sorry…I’m sorry I lied, but I knew it wouldn’t have benefited either of us if I admitted the truth. I couldn’t give you false hope and I couldn’t betray Hunter like that. I know you hoped things between him and I would eventually work out and well…I’m pleased to say that they have. We’re back together and we hope to get married one day. I’m happy, just like you wanted me to be.” Then her eyes lifted back to his helmet and she reached up, softly laying her hand upon the cold, plastoid surface. “Even so, you will always hold a special place in my heart and in my memories for the rest of my life. In the months I spent with you, you and I lived in a world that was all our own. That’s something I’ll never forget. You gave it your all and in the end, it still cost you your life. I thought it was hard enough to let you go on Zeffo, thinking I’d still see you again one day. Now…I have to let you go for good. I won’t forget everything you taught me. I’ll keep you close in my heart…and you’ll never be far from me, just like you said.”
Kimber’s hand left his helmet and came to her chest just above her heart as she closed her eyes, pushing out a couple more stray tears. The wind seemingly died down in the moment and she focused on the silence, hoping to quell her sorrow enough to move on. However, there was something in the wind she could hear…it sounded almost like a voice.
A voice whispering…her name.
Her head shook, brushing that off as just her imagining things in her grief. The only other person on this moon was Rex and he was back at his Y-wing. They were alone. There was no one else on this moon alive.
Then she felt a warm sensation on her face…like a hand softly caressing her cheek. It was a touch she recognized.
She gasped and her eyes flew open.
There was no one in front of her, but the feeling was unmistakable. For but a second, she almost swore she could see his face as if through a veil, but when she blinked, there was nothing there. Yet the warmth she felt on her cheek remained.
“Jesse?” she whispered, reaching up to her cheek and lightly touching her skin.
She didn’t know how it was possible, but she was certain Jesse was there with her. She could feel his presence near her. More than that, she could feel his love, his sorrow and his comfort. There was no longer a voice in the wind, yet she knew in her mind and in her heart what he was wanting to convey to her.
He was at peace…and she would be all right.
Another tear fell from her eye, but this was time, it wasn’t a tear of grief. It was a tear of joy and gratitude.
“I’ll miss you so much,” she then said, “but at least now, I know you’re at peace. I can set you free now so I can strive to find my own peace, as well. I’ll continue to make you proud.”
Right then, she could feel a reassuring hand on her shoulder…but she knew immediately it wasn’t Rex’s. It felt similar to the hand she’d felt on her cheek yet it wasn’t from Jesse’s spirit. It was someone else’s; another familiar friendly presence she’d only encountered once before in a dream.
“Fives?”
Even though there was no audible reply, she could feel deep down that she had supposed right. Not only was Jesse there with her, but so was Fives. In her heart, she could feel the message that he also was trying to give her from the other side: that he would take care of Jesse for her and they both would continue to watch over her.
It didn’t make sense how she was experiencing any of this, but Kimber wasn’t going to push any of it aside. She could palpably feel the presence of two deceased Clones with her, even though she couldn’t see them. They were there to comfort her in her time of grief to let her know they were all right and she would be, too. Perhaps this was the work of the Force, she wondered, even though she didn’t believe much in the Force. It was the only possible explanation that she could think of.
Feeling the omnipresence of her Clone friends, Kimber inhaled deeply, letting their comfort and strength empower her. Everything was going to be okay. She was going to be okay. Their reassurance was enough to give her the bravery to move on; to face everything else that awaited her future with courage unparalleled.
With newfound conviction, she stated out loud, “I promise you, Jesse and Fives: I will finish what you both started. I will do whatever it takes to bring the Empire down so I can avenge both your deaths. I won’t let your sacrifices be in vain. The Empire will pay for what they’ve done to the Clones. I will continue fighting. For my squad, for Hunter, for all the Clones and for you two, even if I have to give my own life.” She looked up to the blue sky above her and a small smile curled up on her lips. “I won’t let you down. I’ll keep going and do whatever it takes. I swear it.”
Then she stood up and took one last look at Jesse’s helmet, placing both hands on either side of it as if she were cupping his face and lifting it from the wood it sat upon. She looked over the helmet carefully, taking in all the details she could before leaving it here forever, for she had a feeling she wouldn’t see it again. At least, not for a long time, if anything.
“Thank you, Jesse…for everything,” she said softly. “At least we got to share this one last day, my friend, even if I couldn’t see you.” She leaned down, placed a kiss upon the brow of the helmet and then brought it up to her forehead in reverence as she whispered, almost like a prayer, “I love you…and I’ll miss you. Goodbye, Jesse.”
Having felt as though she said all that needed to be said, Kimber returned Jesse’s helmet to its place and turned away. Even though her heart still felt heavy, it did feel as though a large part of her burden had been lifted. It was enough for her to feel as though she could take the next step forward in healing from this loss. It still would take time, but this was just the beginning.
As she took a step forward, her foot nudged something she hadn’t noticed before. When she looked down, she found there was a lightsaber on the ground. She thought it was curious for a second that there was a lightsaber there, but then she remembered Rex had said both he and his Jedi Commander, Ahsoka Tano, had buried all the Clones. Had she dropped it on accident…or had it been left here on purpose? After Order 66, the Jedi were all being hunted across the galaxy. Maybe she’d left it on this moon to keep herself safe. There were probably various reasons as to why it had been left that Kimber knew she’d most likely never learn the answer to. For a brief moment, she considered picking it up and taking it with her, but right away, she realized that would be a mistake. If anyone were to spot her with a lightsaber, she would automatically be labeled a Jedi and hunted down. As if being labeled a deserter to the Empire and already being hunted wasn’t bad enough. No, it was best to leave the Jedi relic there and she decided to meet back with Rex.
Rex saw her coming and climbed out of the cockpit to greet her. “You okay?” he asked her.
She nodded. “I am now,” she said. “I don’t know how, but somehow...I just know everything’s going to be all right. Thank you again for bringing me here.”
He bowed his head in respect.
It was then she noticed that there was a scar on his head that she somehow hadn’t noticed before. It was on his right side; the same side she recalled Wrecker saying would hurt when his headaches would hit.
“Rex…did you get your chip removed?” she inquired, pointing to the scar.
His hand came up to trace over the scar for a second and he answered, “I did.”
“How?” she asked.
He gestured to the wreckage behind her. “It was on that cruiser, not long before it was kicked out of hyperspace.”
“Tell me the rest of what happened before the ship crashed,” she said.
Then he explained, “Before I lost all control, I gave Commander Tano a message that I knew she’d understand. I told her to find Fives; to find the files on him and everything that had happened with him before he was killed.”
Hearing Fives being mentioned suddenly made his presence from earlier make sense. Then she remembered the vague things he had told her in her dream from a long time ago, how he’d warned her that something was coming that she’d need to be prepared for. Something he couldn’t stop.
Then it all pieced together in her mind. “Fives had discovered the existence of the chips, hadn’t he?”
Rex nodded. “He did. I didn’t believe him at the time, but I still made a report about it just in case. Turns out, I had been right to do so. As I felt my mind slipping away after Order 66 had been given, I knew immediately Fives had been right and knew I could count on Ahsoka to figure out what to do. She found my report and learned about the chips.”
He then went on to tell Kimber how Ahsoka had actually set their Sith prisoner free herself to distract the Clone soldiers hunting her while she subdued Rex and had taken him to the med bay on the cruiser, where she found the chip and surgically removed it. Shortly after that was when they tried to escape, and had been cornered in the hangar by Jesse and his troops before the hyperdrive got destroyed and the ship crashed.
“That’s the whole story,” he then said to finish it off.
“I see,” she said, taking it all in as she looked back at the destroyed Venator behind her.
“In order to remove your squad’s chips, we’d need some higher-grade medical equipment. Only bigger medical facilities would have those and most of those, I’m sure are under Imperial command now. And Kamino is definitely not an option either,” he told her.
Then she commented, “It’s too bad we can’t get onto just another Venator like this one. If you were able to get yours out on one, then I’m sure others would have the same medical equipment, too. Unfortunately for us, I’m sure all of the other Venators left are also under Imperial control.”
As she looked back, she saw his eyes gradually grow larger, like he’d just thought of something. “Maybe not all of them,” he said. Then he took her by the shoulders and declared, “Kimber, you’re a genius!”
“Uh…thank you?” she said, confused. “What are you thinking, Rex?”
As he got ready to climb back into the Y-wing fighter, he responded to her, “We can't use a Venator cruiser that's still in commission…but we can use a decommissioned one that isn't being used by the Empire. Call your boys. I know exactly where we need to go to get their chips removed.”

Hi May I Ask For A Part 2 Of That Scenario, But This Time The Hashiras Where They Ignore Their Father, How Would They Handle Seeing Their Father Crying And Getting Hurt With Them.
An: for some fathers I go with their occupation from other fics.
Mitsuri's ff is a Baker. Giyuu and Rengoku's is a retired hashira. Shinobu's is a doctor. Obanai, muichirou, sanemi and tengen are people from their past.
♛┈⛧┈┈•༶༶•┈┈⛧┈♛
Tumblr media
You promised yourself: on last mission with rengoku before you retire
And let me just say... It did not go as planned.
A village had been plaqued with a demon for over 2 years. Just walking around the place was depressing. Especially because it was your home village.
Everyone there was pale and extremely thin. They couldn't stand up for themselves even if they wanted to.
In the village there was an orphanage. 2 adults and 25 children, before the demon but now it's no adults and 7 children.
Most of the kids are under 5. It made you cry seeing your village in the state it was in.
You and kyojuro decided to stay in the orphanage to watch over the children
You couldn't sleep so you decided to walk a walk.
On your walk you couldn't stop the years from flowing. The village you grew up, that was once bursting with life and beauty, was now a land soiled with touch of a demon.
You cried walking past the houses of neighbors deep in thought when you were stuck with a needle in your neck.
Catching yourself as you turn around you quickly clutch your sword but you couldn't. You couldn't move. Why couldn't you move.
The needle. It was laced with poison.
"No need to worry, Y/n. I can take it from here!" Kyojuro's booming voice was heard out of your line of sight as you feel to the ground, passing out.
When you woke up you were laying in a hospital bed with kyojuro in the one next to you.
"Your both idiots."
Tumblr media
You and tengen are very competitive
You don't cry but you do get hurt.... Alot
You maybe his father figure but your not to far from his age
Today tengen bet that you couldnt half the training that he does daily
Breathing exercises
Lifting bolders
Sit ups, push ups
And lastly a jog
You lasted way longer that Uzui thought you were going to. You were on the jog as the sun was setting.
(For anyone who has ran a 10k aka 6 miles without stopping, jogging or running the while time. It's exhausting)
"C'mon you can do it. Your almost there." Tengen cheered you on next to you. You shot him a dirty look.
All day he was doing his usual routine without breaking a sweat and teasing you on how you looked so out of breath.
"What that look for I'm trying to help you, old man." You were so tired you codnt even respond. You didn't even feel yourself fall.
When you came to you were in your bed at tengens house with Hina, Makio, and Suma surrounding you.
"You almost made it otosan, unfortunately you collapsed after flipping tengen off." Hina explained helping you sit up.
"Where is tengen?" You asked looking around the room. Hina and Suma looked flushed at the question, Makio on the other hand was mad.
"He was laughing to much, since he thought it was so funny I put him to work.
Tumblr media
Sanemi was wreakless
This was common knowledge
Being his caretaker you put it in yourself to watch over him
He had just gotten back from a mission, when Gonna came to talk to him although he didn't have any injuries from the mission, he and genga got into a fight
Sanemi started the fight. You got punched in your face and stomach
You broke it up and sent genga home so you could talk to sanemi in private
"I don't want to see him die." Sanemi said quietly, butting back tears. He walked himself into a corner and sat there.
You clutched your stomach trying your best to walk over to him.
"I know sanemi but you don't have to be violent." You said patting him back.
You both sat there in silence for what felt like hours before he turned around to see you crying.
You were a stern man so seeing you cry was a shock. He hugged you.
You both cried in that corner until it was time to go to bed.
Tumblr media
Today started as a peaceful day
You woke obanai for breakfast which you both ate together
You fed Kaburamaru
You spent some time out in the garden with obanai
On days like this it was pure bliss
Obanai took his bandages off
You didn't even know you were crying
"What's wrong? Is it my face?" He asked
"No no it's not you, it's just.... You were so young.
Tumblr media
Being a doctor you had to make some pretty rough decisions.
A mother had come in ready for birth but the child was 2 months early, plus the mother had current health problems. Making this birth very painful for her and the child.
The mother begged you to save the child but the father wanted the mother to live.
This wasn't the first time you had dealt with this situation but it is the first time both the mother and the baby died.
The father didn't blame you. The father thanked you for trying your best before leaving.
Shinobu found you outside sitting on the wooden steps.
"Are you alright?" She asked, of course you weren't but asking out if courtesy couldn't hurt. You didn't reply and continued to stare into the distance.
"
Tumblr media
As always she didn't mean to hurt you
She came to you crying because she has as mission that's far away and she wouldn't see you for a while.
It was the first time she called you father
It was enough to make a grown man cry
"PAPA!" She cried, running into your kitchen.
"What wrong mitsuri are you hurt." You said while you grabbed her face checking her for cuts. She pulled out of your grasp.
"No I'm fine. I just have a mission way farther than usual. I won't be back for a few months." She hugged you.
"Oh mitsuri." You sang "it's be alright. I'll be right here when you come back. I'll even make your favorites to go with you." You patted her head as she giggled and nodded.
You pushed her out, telling her to come back when she is about to leave.
Standing alone you thought about the interaction.
"She called me papa."

You felt many emotions that were held in for the majority of your life surface and memories flood through you when you open your locker room door to see the man who had caused so much suffering and pain in your life. The rage came flooding over you after he walked in saying he was proud of you making a name for yourself which only added fuel to the burning fire as your fists clenched knowing if you were to use physical force you would likely be suspended or lose your job chugging water before staring at him as he locks eyes with you while Rey was in the ring with Edge and Randy Orton in a tag team match against Triple H, Bautista, and Christian not knowing the emotional, trauma filled, and wound opening confrontation taking place backstage between you and the man who left you and pretended you didn't exist until out of the blue he was here and pretended he gave a damn when he didn't care at all seeing through the act he was putting on stopping him as he said he wanted to be in your life "You had a chance to be years ago when I was younger and there was still time for me to not really realize how bad of a person you were and change to be in my life but you fucking threw that chance away like trash and you pretended i wasn't even fucking alive!" you hadn't realized that the match was done and that rey and the boys won walking backstage in disbelief by the big win but stop hearing yells from your locker room. "You saw me when I was twelve years old and lied about knowing me at all because you wanted to get drugs from your friends in the store fucking parking lot!" you follow him in the hall where the boys saw the two of you "You left a woman and two kids alone to fend for themselves and you didn't give a fuck whether we were safe, fed, taken care of, or even alive you only cared about your pills and drugs, you don't know me!" rey feels the emotions pour out of you and his heart breaks at the tears forming in your eyes knowing about all the pain this man had caused you for so long grabbing a seething edge when your father grabs your arm as you turned away but you respond quickly "I'm a top wrestler in the women's roster and the whole fucking universe of WWE history, I've helped people who have autism like me who didn't have the care and support I did growing up, I have friends who've filled my life with joy and they're family, I've met the most wonderful man in my life who has and would never hurt me in anyway especially how you've hurt me for the past 22 years! I'm 25 and I haven't seen you since I was three and all you did was tell mom how much of a burden we all were to you and I've blamed myself for all of it and suffered in pain because I was so afraid of being like you but I've learned that I can take what I have of you in me and make good from it which is what I've done and what I will do for the rest of my life and that includes you never coming back on my life, I've been fine without you I didn't need you then and I don't need you now". "The only change is that I know the truth which you can't change no matter how much you lie and that I actually get to say bye this time, this is who I am and you didn't have no part so goodbye, stranger" you walk away as the tears flowed looking to see the boys before edge and randy personally escort him out while you quietly cried in rey's arms "I'm proud of you I love you mi girasol" the two of you share an emotional tender kiss laying your head on his shoulder when edge and randy come back sharing two warm hugs with them before you and rey watch Eddie's match against Matt Hardy "I love you, thanks for loving me no matter what honey" he wraps his arms around you pulling you in his lap with your hands intertwined and head on his chest smiling when he'd press a kiss to your forehead.

Thorn Bush (Doctor Who Story)
Chapter 25: The Unquiet Dead
Masterlist
Jack appears in a flash and lets out a surprised cry as he lands on the floor. He quickly looks up to see where he is but realises he seems to be in a park and there doesn't seem to be anyone around. He lets out a huff and pulls himself onto his feet. He can't see Kathy anywhere, he thought she'd be here, that's what— no! Jack groans in annoyance when he realises his vortex manipulator has fizzled like Kathy had said it would.
"Hello." A voice quietly speaks behind him.
He spins around and smiles broadly when he sees two familiar brunettes. "Kathy! Ashildr!"
Kathy raises an eyebrow and shares a look with her companion, Ashildr. "Hello Jack."
"Oh brilliant!" Jack cries. The ex-time agent lunges forward and brings Kathy into a tight hug. He pulls back and sees Kathy staring at him wide eyed and surprised. His smile dims when he realises. "We haven't met, have we?"
"We've never met as far as I am aware, just seen you from a distance." Kathy replies.
"Where?"
"A bar."
"Ah, well, I do always like—" Jack begins to say with a grin.
"I think the both of us would prefer it if you don't finish that sentence." Ashildr interrupts.
Alright. Let's start again." Jack holds out his hand. "Hello, Captain Jack Harkness."
"He's doing that flirting thing you warned me about." Ashildr remarks.
Jack scoffs. "I'm only saying hello!"
Kathy laughs. "Katherine Davis at your service."
"So, where am I? Hope this is Cardiff, early 21st century."
"Well, right area, wrong year."
"I'm close though, right? Cause my manipulator has gone bust."
Kathy winces. "Jack... this isn't the early 21st century. You're in the 19th."
He looks her up and down, sees her clothing, and realises she's right. "Why didn't you send me to the right time?"
Kathy looks at him, surprised. "I sent you?"
"Yeah, you fixed my vortex manipulator temporarily."
"Oh, well, I probably did that cause you just told me I did and what's happening right now has already happened to me." Kathy points out.
Jack groans in annoyance. "Oh, well," he waves his hand around at her, "I must say, very nice. I like this outfit. Just as gorgeous as the last." He gives Kathy a sly wink which makes her blush brightly. Amelia had forgotten how... overwhelming Jack's teasing could be. It makes her feel uncomfortable.
"Y-you can tease later. Right now, we have other things that are a priority." She clears her throat in a clearly uncomfortable manner, glancing at her daughter-in-law for help but all she receives is an amused raised eyebrow.
Jack laughs loudly. "Aww, is someone shy? Normally you'd be flirting back."
"Well, I've only just met you."
"That does makes things awkward." He rubs the back of his head, feeling out of place with a Kathy that doesn't really know him. He is so used to older her who seemed to know him so well and how to flirt back with him. He knew neither of them meant anything by it. Only playing really. "Wait, you know my future, you know when I'm going to find the right Doctor that coincides with me right?"
Kathy shares a look with Ashildr and looks back at him. The emotions on her face seem almost identical to the ones that the older Kathy he'd just left wore. "Jack... you're going to have to wait 138 years till you find the right Doctor."
Jack reels at that. "Surely not? How am I meant to wait? I don't exactly have a life span like you two and Carlyle."
Kathy looks about then turns to Jack. "Let's get you back to ours. We'll talk then."
——
Jack is soon settled at the table in their front room with Kathy sitting opposite. Ashildr had left them to it.
"Well?" Jack prompts.
"When you were on Satellite Five?" At Jack's nod, Kathy continues, "Do you remember being shot by a Dalek?"
Jack frowns. Actually... "Yes. I was facing death by extermination. And then I came back to life. What happened?"
"Rose."
"I thought I thought the Doctor had sent her back home." Jack says.
Kathy shakes her head. "She came back. Opened the heart of the TARDIS and absorbed the time vortex itself."
The what— "What does that mean, exactly?"
"It's what the TARDIS runs on. It brings colossal power. No one's ever mean to have that power." Kathy explains. "If a Time Lord did that, they'd become a god. A vengeful god the Doctor says. But she was human. She brought you back to life but she couldn't control it. She brought you back forever."
"So, what are you saying? That I'm kind of immortal now? Like Ashildr?" Jack questions.
"She's a bit different, barring any accidents, the Mire chip in her will keep healing her, making her better. A functioning immortal." Kathy explains. "You, on the other hand, will be killed but then always brought back."
"But at least, for example, being blown to pieces will kill me, right?" Jack asks hopefully. He can't imagine living forever.
"No, you sort of... grow back together." Kathy grimaces as if recalling a specific memory. Great, apparently that actually happens.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Cause it was disturbing alright!"
"Do you think she could change me back?" Jack asks her hopefully. "You know, Rose, when I find them again?"
Jack's heart drops when Kathy shakes her head. "The Doctor took the power out of her caused them to regenerate. But Jack, when you find the Doctor, Rose has been lost."
"What happened?" Jack asks, fearful of what Kathy's response will be.
"There's a big battle between the Daleks and Cybermen called the Battle of Canary Wharf. To solve the problem, the Doctor sends both species to the space between the worlds and sealed up the walls." Kathy explains. "Rose ended up being on the other side, trapped in a parallel world with her mother, Mickey and a parallel version of her dad."
Jack sighs in relief, at least Rose is safe, but that leaves his situation. "That's just it then? I'm stuck like this forever? How could the Doctor leave me?"
"They can't help it cause it's not easy even just looking at you, Jack, because you're wrong." Kathy states bluntly with a slight wince.
"Thanks." Jack huffs, surprised Kathy would say that.
Kathy winces again and closes her eyes as she runs her forehead. "I'm sorry but it's awful."
Jack can see she doesn't mean anything bad by it and decides to tease her. "Bit prejudice."
Kathy huffs and gives a light shove. "Sorry, can't help it. Instinct. I blame the Time Lord. You're a fixed point in time and space. You're a fact. That's never meant to happen. Except it did, with you."
Jack wrinkles his nose. "Don't I feel special. What am I meant to now?"
Kathy sighs. "Do something with your time. Find a purpose because, I'm sorry Jack, but you're going to be around for a while."
——
Kathy is minding her own business as she walks through Cardiff, Wales on Christmas Eve. She had gone on a business trip but would be returning to Barry, Wales where she, Carlyle and Ashildr had set up the past year but now with the addition of Jack. They'd been helping him settle into the 19th century before letting him loose. Kathy had advised him to avoid Cardiff mostly due to the risks of interacting with the Doctor too early but stay in the local area.
Kathy pauses not too far from the theatre when she feels the familiar snap of the mental link she has with the Doctor. She picks up her skirt and immediately runs in the direction the mental link is directing her to. Kathy slows down when she sees the doors of the TARDIS open and Rose emerging in a late 19th century black and maroon dress with a cloak, not too dissimilar to Kathy's green dress, and stepping gingerly onto the fallen snow.
She slaps her forehead, drawing some looks from passers by. She feels so stupid. How could she forget that this is Nine and Rose's first adventure together in the past where they interact with the Gelth?
The companion is soon followed by the Doctor. Kathy swallows thickly and wrings her fingers together to gather her nerves as this is the first time she'll be meeting this incarnation and really doesn't want to mess this up.
As soon as he steps out of the door, Kathy snaps her fingers and the door swings shut. The Time Lord and the human spin around in surprise, staring at the door in shock. Kathy takes this opportunity to clear her throat to draw the duo's attention.
"Kathy..." the Doctor murmurs as he's seeing a ghost.
Though she finds that a bit odd, Kathy shakes it off and walks closer to them. "Ah, so you've met me then. I wasn't so sure when specifically you do, only that it was this face."
"Wha— how did you get out of—" The Doctor splutters before cutting himself off.
"Out of what?" Kathy asks but the Doctor doesn't answer so she turns to Rose with a smile. "Hi Rose."
The companion seems to be staring at her in a similar way to the Doctor but all wide eyed. "Uh, hi? Where's Carlyle?"
"With his wife—"
"How old are you?" The Doctor cuts through.
Kathy looks at him bewildered but answers anyway. "1,339 years."
"So, you haven't—"
"Ah! Spoilers!" Kathy quickly cuts off. "Surely, when you apparently meet me for this first time, I explain that I meet you out of sequence."
Rose shakes off her surprise. "Exactly, Doctor! Remember no spoilers." The way she says it is so purposeful as if she's making a point to not let the Doctor reveal something.
"Hints are fine. Hints are always good." Kathy reassures.
"Alright, what's the hint?" The Doctor asks somewhat reluctantly. It's strange being confronted with a Doctor that knows so little.
"It's Cardiff 1869 not Naples 1860."
Rose, who's been grinning looking around at the street they stand in, pauses and her smile drops. "Right." She glances at him accusingly. "Does this happen often?"
The Doctor scoffs. "No!"
Kathy snorts. "Don't you mean almost all the time? The TARDIS likes to not listen to you."
"How would you know?" The Doctor asks accusingly. Kathy raises an expectant eyebrow. "Right..."
"So, are you going to introduce Rose to history?" Kathy remarks. Rose grins excitedly.
"Right, yeah, let me just—" The Doctor reaches back to close the TARDIS door but Kathy interrupts him by snapping her fingers causing the door to swing shut. The Doctor blinks rapidly, turning his head back and forth between the TARDIS and Kathy, who currently holds an amused expression. Rose sniggers as she watches. He points at her and the ship, clearly struggling to get his mind wrapped around the fact that she had closed his ship with the simple gesture.
"H-how did you do that?" He asks in complete and utter bewilderment. "You can't just go around doing that!"
"Why?" Kathy asks with a falsely confused frown. "You do it."
The Doctor splutters. "B-but it's literally impossible!"
"Nothing is ever impossible, Doctor." Kathy remarks. She turns to Rose, offering her arm. "Would you like to accompany me through history?"
Rose laughs. "Of course." The companion links her arm with Kathy's and the two stride forward, leaving a dumbfounded Doctor in their wake.
He soon shakes it off and trails behind them as they giggle and chat with Kathy pointing out different aspects to Rose and explaining them as they go along. Children are running around cheerfully, carolling echoes and horse drawn carriages ride on by through the thin blanket of snow.
While Kathy and Rose are thoroughly enjoying themselves, Kathy can see that the Doctor is growing increasingly bored until they hear the screams coming from the Taliesin Lodge music hall.
"That's more like it!" The Doctor exclaims cheerfully. He runs around the two girls in excitement. Kathy rolls her eyes at him and pulls Rose along after him. People are running while screaming out of the music hall with police whistles sounding off in the distance.
——
The trio rush inside to see the blue gas entity that is the Gelth flying around the hall.
The Doctor grins brightly at the sight. "Fantastic." He doesn't even glance at the two women and instead jumps on the stage with Charles Dickens himself, the man who had been entertaining the hall's guests with his story A Christmas Carol.
Of course, once again, the Doctor is in one of his moods where he does not focus on anything or anyone else except for the ongoing adventure at hand. Completely forgetting about Kathy and Rose. Kathy turns to speak to the companion, to grumble about this but is startled when she realises Rose is no longer next to her. Kathy's eyes widen when she realises she had been so distracted watching the gas entity and the Doctor that she hadn't paid attention to the fact that this is the moment that Rose goes after Gabriel Sneed and Gwyneth as they take Mrs Peace's body. Oh, no.
"Doctor!" She shouts, gaining the Time Lord's attention. "They've taken Rose!" The Doctor's eyes widen when he realises she's right and the two of them run outside. Kathy knows they're probably already too late and the undertaker duo have already kidnapped Rose.
The Doctor and Kathy emerge onto the street to see the undertaker's carriage pulling away.
"Rose!" The Doctor yells in panic but the carriage carries on into the distance.
"You're not escaping me, sir." Dickens says as he comes up beside them. "What do you know about that hobgoblin, hmm? Projection on glass, I suppose. Who put you up to it?"
"Yeah, mate. Not now, thanks." The Doctor dismisses. He runs towards a nearby carriage. "Oi, you! Follow that hearse!" The Doctor gets into a nearby carriage with Kathy swiftly following.
"I can't do that, sir." The driver protests.
"Why not?"
"I'll tell you why not. I'll give you a very good reason why not. Because this is my coach." Dickens barks at the two of them.
"We're just borrowing it." Kathy says. "You can join us if you like."
An angry Charles Dickens gets pulled into the carriage and they're on their way after Sneed's hearse.
"Come on, you're losing them." The Doctor urges.
"Everything in order, Mister Dickens?" The driver calls to them.
"No! It is not!" Dickens yells angrily. Kathy tries not to laugh at the double take the Doctor does on the man that sits with them.
"What did he say?" The Doctor asks.
Kathy smiles brightly, indicating her hand as an introduction to Dickens. "Doctor, meet the Charles Dickens." She says happily.
The Doctor beams at the author. "Charles Dickens? You're brilliant, you are. Completely one hundred percent brilliant." He rambles excitedly. "I've read them all. Great Expectations, Oliver Twist and what's the other one, the one with the ghost?"
"The Signal Man." Kathy supplies.
"The Signal Man, that's it. Terrifying!" The Doctor grins away at Dickens. "The best short story ever written. You're a genius."
"And I just love A Christmas Carol." Kathy adds. "Always a good classic for this time of year. It's such a heart-warming story with the way you tell it. Masterpiece."
Dickens looks rather pleased upon hearing both of their praise and admiration of his works. A gratified smile falls upon his face.
"You want me to get rid of them, sir?" The driver asks.
"Er, no, I think they can stay." Dickens replies with a smile.
"Honestly, Charles. Can I call you Charles? I'm such a big fan." The Doctor speaks quickly.
"A what? A big what?" Dickens asks, looking greatly confused.
"He means a great follower of your work." Kathy tells the man, who makes a small noise of understanding while nodding.
The Doctor continues rambling on while the carriage rocks in pursuit of Rose. Throughout the journey, Kathy chuckles to herself, smiling at the Doctor's excitement as Dickens seems to become even more confused by the speedy words of the Time Lord. Honestly, nothing really changes over the next regenerations up to Thirteen except Twelve, he doesn't ramble as much.
——
They arrive at Sneed's house in no time. Kathy jumps out of the carriage immediately, wanting to get to her friend before anything bad happens. She knows that she hasn't really seen Rose that frequently so far but feels a certain level of attachment since she was the first ever companion Kathy went on an adventure with. Dickens and the Doctor follow suit, all hurriedly going to the door of the house. Gwyneth is the one to answer upon Dickens' knock.
The servant girl nods her head politely as she shifts nervously on the spot. "I'm sorry, sir. We're closed." She says to Dickens.
"Nonsense." Dickens refutes with a huff. "Since when did an Undertaker keep office hours? The dead don't die on schedule. I demand to see your master."
"He's not in, sir." Gwyneth replies, quickly, looking even more nervous by the second.
"You're a terrible liar." Kathy speaks up, gaining the girl's attention. "Please, just let us inside. You've taken our friend and we'd like her back."
Behind Gwyneth, they can see that one of the gas lamps on the wall flares up.
The Doctor raises a brow at the sight of it. "Having trouble with your gas?" He asks Gwyneth. The girl turns to the lamp, gazing at it with slight alarm, appearing more nervous by the moment.
"What the Shakespeare is going on?" Dickens murmurs.
The Doctor goes past Gwyneth to the flaring gas lamp with Kathy following.
"You're not allowed inside, sir, ma'am." Gwyneth tries to stop them.
The Doctor presses his ear to the wall, listening intently. "There's something inside the walls. The gas pipes... something's living inside the gas."
"We can figure that out later. Right now, we need to find Rose." Kathy argues.
Upon those words, they all hear Rose's scream, "Open the door!" Gwyneth closes her eyes, knowing they've been caught. "Please, please, let me out!"
They all hurriedly take off to the girl's cries of terror. Sneed tries to stop them, outraged that they dare come into his house but the Doctor and Kathy both take turns to roughly shove past him.
They reach the door and the Doctor doesn't waste any time kicking the door in. Kathy barges in to see Rose struggling in the grasp of the dead Mr Redpath and Mrs Peace. Running up to Redpath, who holds his hand over Rose's mouth, Kathy gives a punch straight into the dead man's face. He stumbles away, letting Rose go and Kathy takes her chance to pull the companion over to the group by the door.
The two possessed dead people simply stand there, unblinkingly with a blue glow around their eyes.
"Good Lord. Are all of you just violent hooligans?" Dickens murmurs before turning to the possessed dead bodies standing before them. "Dear God. It's a prank. It must be. We're under some mesmeric influence."
"No, we're not. The dead are walking." The Doctor replies before turning to Rose. "Hi."
"You alright?" Kathy asks though she knows really it's always good to check and be considerate.
"Hi. Yeah." Rose gasps. She glances at Dickens. "Who's your friend?"
"Charles Dickens."
"Okay."
The Doctor stares sternly at the corpses. "My name's the Doctor. Who are you, then? What do you want?"
Redpath replies with several voices, "Failing. Open the rift. We're dying. Trapped in this form. Cannot sustain. Help us." Then, together, he and Mrs Peace open their mouths, letting out a scream of agony. The gas leaves them and returns to the gas lamp. The corpses collapse to the floor with a loud thud.
The group remains silent as they all stare at the dead bodies with stunned expressions though Kathy after a brief moment recovers and purses her lips and rocks awkwardly at the silence.
"So... tea?" She remarks, drawing out her sentence. This breaks everyone out of their silent daze. Dickens and Sneed look at her aghast, Gwyneth stares at her with wide eyes, Rose slightly smiles while the Doctor shrugs.
"Might as well." The Time Lord remarks.
——
They move into the living room of the house where a nice cosy keeps them warm. Sneed sits on an armchair, looking very disgruntled by Rose's angry rant at him.
"First of all, you drug me, then you kidnap me, and don't think I didn't feel your hands having a quick wander, you dirty old man." Rose barks angrily at him.
Gwyneth glances at the raving companion every second or so as she prepares some tea for everyone. Dickens sits at the small dining table drinking his own cup of tea. The Doctor and Kathy stand by the fireplace, watching the scene of Rosé's scolding in amusement. Kathy sniggers to herself, feeling very proud of her friend, while the Doctor smiles amusedly.
"I won't be spoken to like this!" Sneed retorts crossly.
"Then you stuck me in a room full of zombies!" Rose continues on, glowering at the man. "And if that ain't enough, you swan off and leave me to die! So come on, talk!"
"It's not my fault. It's this house!" Sneed yells. Clearly a slip of the tongue as he appears to regret it, slightly wincing as he nervously glances round at everyone while they all stare back at him. "It always had a reputation. Haunted. But I never had much bother until a few months back, and then the stiffs," he receives a couple disapproving looks, "the er, dear departed... started getting restless."
"Tommyrot." Dickens scoffs, taking a sip of his tea. Kathy rolls her eyes at the man and almost laughs at seeing the Doctor do the exact same thing.
"You witnessed it!" Sneed argues. "Can't keep the beggars down, sir. They walk. And it's the strangest thing, but they hang on to scraps."
Gwyneth cones round, handing both the Doctor and Kathy their cups of tea. "Two sugars, sir, and just one for you, ma'am." She tells them politely. "Just how you like it." The Doctor gives the girl a confused and curious stare while Kathy smiles gratefully.
Sneed continues to explain, "One old fellow who used to be a sexton almost walked into his own memorial service. Just like the old lady going to your performance, sir, just as she planned."
"Morbid fancy." Dickens again dismisses.
"Oh, Charles, you were there." The Doctor bites out in an irritated tone.
"Literally right in your face." Kathy adds.
"I saw nothing but an illusion."
"If you're going to deny it, don't waste my time. Just shut up." The Doctor retorts. Dickens looks shocked at his words but the Doctor simply turns to Sneed. "What about the gas?"
"That's new, sir. Never seen anything like that." Sneed admits.
"Means it's getting stronger, the rift's getting wider and something's sneaking through." The Doctor states, speaking his thoughts out loud.
"Something not good," Kathy mumbles quietly, taking a sip of her tea. She had been going over the possibilities of what to do, to stop this but she realised there's no other way to stop the Gelth except with Gwyneth's sacrifice. They'd just keep trying and they're made of gas, which makes things difficult. Kathy wonders if she should tell the Doctor but this is an early one, are they close enough from his point of view to listen to her?
"What's the rift?" Rose asks.
"A weak point in time and space." The Doctor explains. "A connection between this place and another. That's the cause of ghost stories, most of the time."
"That's how I got the house so cheap. Stories going back generations." Sneed says. The door of the living room opens and closes, indicating that Dickens had left in a huff. "Echoes in the dark, strange songs in the air, and this feeling like a shadow passing over your soul. Mind you, truth be told, it's been good for business. Just what people expect from a gloomy old trade like mine."
Glancing at the Doctor, Kathy nods her head in the direction the author had gone. The Doctor seems confused and simply lifts an eyebrow.
Kathy huffs. "Go after him, idiot. He needs someone to talk to and you need to apologise."
The Doctor frowns and rolls his shoulder as if shaking off her presence in his mind, probably still not used to it after thinking he'd destroyed anyone that could. Nonetheless, he goes after Dickens. Kathy smiles, glad that, despite not being as familiar with her at this point in his timeline, at least he listens to her.
——
Spotting Rose leaving the room, Kathy decides to follow along. Kathy knows where she'll be and goes to the pantry and finds Rose and Gwyneth inside. The maid is busy working on cleaning up while Rose seems to be trying to help.
"Please, miss, you shouldn't be helping. It's not right." Gwyneth says, taking away the rags that Rose holds.
"Don't be daft. Sneed works you to death." Rose responds, taking the rag back.
"We'd love to help you." Kathy speaks up, walking over to begin washing the tea cups. But Gwyneth remains firm, taking the rags from both of them. She looks rather embarrassed for someone wanting to help her, most likely not used to it. Kathy smiles kindly at her, understanding the girl's timid behaviour.
"How much do you get paid?" Rose asks.
"Eight pound a year, miss." Gwyneth answers.
Rose stares at the girl in shock. "How much?"
"I know. I would've been happy with six." Gwyneth replies, turning to clean what's in the sink.
"I think you deserve a raise for everything Sneed's put you through." Kathy says.
"Oh, it's not all bad, ma'am." Gwyneth states, shifting around for some pantry supplies.
"So, did you go to school or what?" Rose asks.
"Of course I did." Gwyneth tells her, turning back to face them. "What do you think I am, an urchin? I went every Sunday, nice and proper."
Rose raises an eyebrow. "What, once a week?"
Gwyneth nods. "We did sums and everything. To be honest, I hated every second."
Rose laughs lightly. "Me too."
"Suppose it had its ups and downs but I did like history." Kathy remarks.
"Where you came from before?" Rose questions.
"Yes." Kathy replies, smiling softly as she thinks of her old life. So long ago now.
"Don't tell anyone, but one week, I didn't go and ran on the heath all on my own." Gwyneth says to them. Kathy can see she's excited to be sharing such a secret with them. They all start to laugh then.
"I did plenty of that." Rose remarks. "I used to go down the shops with my mate Shareen. We used to go and look at boys." She chuckles at that.
Gwyneth blushes at that and hurriedly turns away, back to the sink. "Well, I don't know much about that, miss."
"Come on, times haven't changed that much." Rose responds. "I bet you've done the same."
"I don't think so, miss." Gwyneth replies, looking nervous to discuss such subjects.
"There has to be some man in your life you've fancied." Kathy speaks up, giving the girl a small, sly smile. "Maybe a nice gentleman? One with nice smiles and polite words? Hmm?"
Gwyneth twists her apron in her hands, turning back to them and answers with a small smile. "I suppose. There is one lad. The butcher's boy. He comes by every Tuesday. Such a lovely smile on him." The girl grows a fond smile.
"Oh, I like a nice smile." Rose comments.
"Me too." Kathy agrees.
"Good smile, nice bum," Rose adds. Despite knowing she was going to say that, Kathy can't help but let out a big snort and falls into a fit of giggles to which Rose joins her.
"Well, I have never heard the like," Gwyneth states, shaking her head at them. She giggles along for a second, more at their words and behaviour. "I swear it is the strangest thing. You've got all the clothes and the breeding, but you two talk like some sort of wild things."
"Maybe we are." Kathy shrugs throwing a wink at Rose who giggles. "Maybe that's a good thing."
"You need a bit more in your life than Mister Sneed." Rose says to Gwyneth.
"Oh, now that's not fair." Gwyneth replies, she looks saddened at the thought. "He's not so bad, old Sneed. He was very kind to me to take me in because I lost my mum and dad to the flu when I was twelve."
Rose looks at the maid sympathetically. "Oh, I'm sorry."
Kathy nods, sending a sympathetic smile at the maid.
Gwyneth smiles at the two of them. "Thank you. But I'll be with them again, one day, sitting with them in paradise. I shall be so blessed. They're waiting for me." She smiles warmly at that before turning to Rose. "Maybe your dad's up there waiting for you too, miss." Then nods lightly to Kathy. "And your parents, siblings, daughter and grandchildren, as well."
Kathy stiffens. Does that mean her parents... She can't be sure really. Since she's been in this world for a thousand years, had it been the same in her home world or is she in the past parallel to it? Either way, her parents aren't alive and there's only one hope of seeing them again. And there's her poor little girl... "Maybe..." She murmurs quietly.
"Er, who told you he was dead?" Rose asks, staring at Gwyneth with some suspicion.
Gwyneth tenses, hurriedly turning again to do the washing up. "I don't know. Must have been the Doctor." She says, trying to dismiss her comment. Kathy watches as the girl is becoming more anxious.
"Your powers are getting stronger, aren't they, Gwyneth?" Kathy asks carefully.
"Just as your knowledge grows and fails you." Kathy stiffens at that, knowing Gwyneth has touched a nerve. The maid stares at Kathy with wide eyes, alarmed. "Sorry, sorry ma'am... I just think too much."
"What do you mean?" Kathy breathes, wanting to know but also fearful.
Gwyneth's eyes become glazed over as she stares at Kathy intently. "You think you know so much. But this world is so much more different than the one you watched on those boxes."
Rose glances between them, looking confused. "Gwyneth, what're you talking about?"
"And you've both come such a long way." Her eyes shift, more focused on Rose. "You're from London. I've seen London in drawings, but never like that. All those people rushing about half naked, for shame. And the noise, and the metal boxes racing past, and the birds in the sky, no, they're metal as well. Metal birds with people in them. People are flying." Gwyneth's lip begins to tremble. "And you, you've flown so far. Further than anyone. The things you've seen. The darkness, the big bad wolf."
Kathy reaches forward, to comfort Gwyneth as she can see she's shaking but the moment she touches Gwyneth's shoulder, the girl turns sharply to stare at her with wide eyes. "And you, there's no wolf but you are lost. You've travelled even further, a distance so great. Falling and falling as you lose and gain so much." Gwyneth snaps out of it, gasping. Staring at them in horror, bumping into the pantry shelves behind her as backs away. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
"Its- It's all right, Gwyneth." Kathy speaks quietly, feeling herself shaking as well.
"I can't help it. Ever since I was a little girl, my mam said I had the sight." Gwyneth explains shakily. "She told me to hide it."
"But it's getting stronger, more powerful, is that right?" Comes the voice of the Doctor. They all jump and turn sharply to find the Doctor at the doorway of the pantry, analysing the scene in front of him. Kathy feels annoyed with herself that she'd forgotten he appears like that, so wrapped up in what Gwyneth was saying.
The maid averts her eyes, looking nervous as she replies, "All the time, sir. Every night, voices in my head."
The Doctor nods understandingly. "You grew up on top of the rift. You're part of it. You're the key."
"I've tried to make sense of it, sir. Consulted with spiritualists, table rappers, all sorts." Gwyneth admits almost tearfully.
"Well, that should help. You can show us what to do." The Doctor says, drawing confused looks from the two girls next to Kathy.
"What to do where, sir?"
"We're going to have a séance."
——
Everyone gathers around a table in the living room, holding hands. Dickens keeps scoffing and huffing about the situation. Still in denial but eventually he joins hands with them and the Doctor promises the girl to call out.
"Speak to us. Are you there? Spirits, come. Speak to us that we may relieve your burden." Gwyneth pleads.
The whispering starts. Crying whispers echoing around the house, growing closer.
"Can you hear that?" Rose whispers to Kathy.
Kathy simply nods, anxiously staring at Gwyneth, knowing the girl's death is drawing nearer.
"I see them. I feel them." Gwyneth gasps as she looks up at the ceiling. Everyone else stares at the ceiling, watching the gas tendrils drift above their heads. The blue entities gather around them. The Gelth continue to whisper but it comes at gurgled and muffled, struggling to come through.
"What's it saying?" Rose asks.
"They can't get through the rift." The Doctor realises. "Gwyneth, it's not controlling you, you're controlling it. Now, look deep. Allow them through."
"I can't!"
"Yes, you can. Just believe it. I have faith in you, Gwyneth. Make the link." The Doctor encourages.
Gwyneth stops staring at the ceiling, lowers her head, closes her eyes and, with a deep breath, opens her eyes. "Yes."
Blue outlines of three people appear behind Gwyneth, materialising more as human figures and creating a bright blue glow. Kathy stares fearfully at the creatures while around her, they all stare in awe.
"Great God! Spirits from the other side." Sneed gasps.
"The other side of the universe." The Doctor corrects.
"Pity us." The large entity speaks, its words echoing around them as its child-like voice mixes with Gwyneth's. "Pity the Gelth. There is so little time. Help us."
"What do you want us to do?" The Doctor asks, gazing calmly at the creatures.
"The rift. Take the girl to the rift. Make the bridge." The Gelth instructs.
Kathy watches as the Doctor's eyes shift to that of suspicion. "What for?" He asks.
"We are so very few. The last of our kind. We face extinction." The Gelth explains sorrowfully. Kathy winces, knowing that's going to get the Doctor to pity them.
"Why, what happened?"
"Once we had a physical form like you, but then the war came."
"War? What war?" Dickens questions, looking completely dumbfounded by the whole thing.
"The Time War." The Doctor tenses upon those words then his features became empathetic. "The whole universe convulsed. The Time War raged. Invisible to smaller species but devastating to higher forms. Our bodies wasted away. We're trapped in this gaseous state."
"So that's why you need the corpses." The Doctor concludes.
"We want to stand tall, to feel the sunlight, to live again." The Gelth says. "We need a physical form, and your dead are abandoned. They're going to waste. Give them to us."
"But we can't." Rose tells them, looking horrified.
"Why not?" The Doctor counters, frowning.
"It's not... I mean, it's not..." Rose struggles to explain.
"Not decent? Not polite? It could save their lives." The Doctor retorts.
Rose shakes her head, giving him a hard stare. She turns to Kathy, squeezing her hand. "What about you? You can't agree to this either."
Kathy stares at the table, pondering deeply. Honestly, she is just as horrified by the idea as Rose is. But even if Kathy knows it doesn't end up happening anyway, she agrees with the Doctor on this. It's not polite or decent but it's giving another species a chance to survive.
"I agree with the Doctor." Kathy says aloud. Rose's shoulders slump in disappointment while the Doctor nods and seems happy to have Kathy on his side.
"Open the rift." The Gelth pleads. "Let the Gelth through. We're dying. Help us. Pity the Gelth." With that said, the Gelth goes back into the gas lamps and Gwyneth collapses across the table unconscious.
——
A little later, Gwyneth has been laid on the chaise lounge. Rose and the Doctor are arguing over the situation. Now the decision has been made to allow the Gelth through the rift and use the dead bodies for transportation until the Doctor can find new ones and a new home, which sparked the argument between the Time Lord and his human companion.
"Seriously though, you can't." Rose says angrily to the Doctor.
"Seriously though, I can." The Doctor retorts bitterly.
Kathy rolls her eyes at them as she gently wipes at Gwyneth's forehead with a cool wet rag. The girl is exhausted after opening the link for the Gelth.
"It's just... wrong." Rose says, looking disgusted with the Doctor and his plan. "Those bodies were living people. We should respect them even in death."
The Doctor has already explained what the Gelth are to Sneed and Dickens. Sneed had struggled with the concept but accepted they're some sort of foreigners. Dickens has finally come around but is still in a dumbfounded state. His bewilderment about the whole thing is not helped by his decision to keep gulping alcohol at hand.
"Do you carry a donor card?" The Doctor responds snidely.
Rose frowns, crossing her arms grumpily. "That's different. That's—"
"It is different, yeah. It's a different morality. Get used to it or go home. You heard what they said, time's short. I can't worry about a few corpses when the last of the Gelth could be dying." The Doctor rants, ending it softly, pleading with his companion.
"I don't care. They're not using her." Rose argues.
"Sorry Rose, but I think Gwyneth should have a say." Kathy says, drawing the duo's attention as she helps Gwyneth sit up. "Go head, Gwyneth."
The maid looks at them with steely determination. "The angels need me." She says firmly. "Doctor, what do I have to do?"
"You don't have to do anything." The Doctor says.
"They've been singing to me since I was a child, sent by my mam on a holy mission. So, tell me." Gwyneth demands.
The Doctor turns his attention from the girl to Kathy. She knows he can see how anxious she looks.
"Tell me, before I decide on anything, whether or not this is going to turn out well." The Doctor says through their mental connection.
"Just... do what you think is best." She replies.
The Doctor raises an eyebrow at this. "I need to know what's going to happen before I decide anything, so just tell me." The Doctor states sternly.
Kathy shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I can't. I have to let things go as they are or I'll make things worse."
The Doctor sends her a harsh and annoyed gaze. "So, in other words, spoilers." He turns back to the others. "We need to find the rift. This house is on a weak spot, so there must be a spot that's weaker than any other. Mister Sneed, what's the weakest part of this house? The place where most of the ghosts have been seen?"
"That would be the morgue." Sneed replies.
"No chance you were going to say gazebo, is there?" Rose remarks. Kathy's lips lift slightly at the girl's words.
——
Kathy follows behind the others as they all make their way down into the cold basement which functions as the morgue. It's dark and damp that holds the recently departed, lying under white sheets. Kathy shivers feeling unnerved and unsettled as the room gets colder around them.
A Gelth comes out of a gas lamp by the door and stands under a stone archway. "You've come to help." It speaks with joy, still sounding like a little girl. "Praise the Doctor. Praise him."
"Promise you won't hurt her." Rose demands.
"Hurry! Please," the Gelth says, ignoring Rose's words, "so little time. Pity the Gelth."
"I'll take you somewhere else after the transfer. Somewhere you can build proper bodies. This isn't a permanent solution, all right?" The Doctor tells them.
"My angels. I can help them live." Gwyneth murmurs. Kathy closes her eyes, fearful of tears falling because of the great sadness and guilt she feels.
"Okay, where's the weak point?" The Doctor asks.
The Gelth tells them that Gwyneth needs to stand under the archway, under where the Gelth is hovering. The maid establishes the bridge, linking the Gelth to this world. Gwyneth opens her mouth wide as it glows bright white and wisps of the blue gas fly out of her mouth. The entities are freed and they swirl around the air with glee. Kathy shivers as they sliver by, appearing more like snakes rather than ghosts or angels.
"She has given herself to the Gelth." The main Gelth attached to Gwyneth speaks firmly. More and more Gelth fly around the cold and dark room. "The bridge is open. We descend." The sweet blue apparition suddenly turns flame red with its face forming into a nasty and wicked grin with sharp teeth, lighting up the room with a chilling orange-red. Its voice deepens and hardens. "The Gelth will come through in force." It speaks in a monstrous voice that no longer sounds like an innocent child.
"You said that you were few in number." Dickens protests angrily.
"A few billion." The Gelth sneers. "And all of us in need of corpses." All around them, the dead are coming to life as the Gelth start to take over.
Sneed steps forward, begging Gwyneth to stop but Kathy cuts him off, dragging him back along with the Doctor and Rose before his neck can get snapped.
The Doctor shoots Kathy a harsh look of rage. "I told you to warn me about something like this!" He yells angrily.
"I'm sorry! I couldn't!" Kathy speaks loudly m over the many voices of the Gelth and the corpses.
In the corner of her eye, Kathy can see Dickens and Sneed run away from the basement. All the dead start to come towards the remaining group and backs them up against a metal gate. Kathy hurriedly drags both the Doctor and Rose behind the metal gate, where the corpses cannot reach them.
"Give yourself to glory." The Gelth speaks together. The corpses push against the metal gate, waving their pale, rotting arms through the bars to get to the trio. "Sacrifice your lives for the Gelth."
"I trusted you. I pitied you!" The Doctor shouts at them.
"We don't want your pity." All the dead cry as one as they shake the bars of the gate viciously. "We want this world and all its flesh."
"Not while I'm alive." The Doctor spits out.
"Then live no more." The Gelth counters as they shake the metal gate even more. The trio pushes themselves as far up against the wall of the small room as they can.
"But I can't die." Rose breathes out shakily. She glances between them. "Tell me I can't. I haven't even been born yet. It's impossible for me to die. Isn't it?"
"Time doesn't work like that. You can be born in a later century and die in another earlier one." Kathy explains. "It all depends on where you're at in time."
"And it's your fault!" The Doctor snaps at her. "If you warned us beforehand none of this would be happening right now. We wouldn't have to die!"
Kathy glares at him. "We're not going to die here, you idiot." She retorts. "Do you really think I'd let Rose or you die? Just like that? If you really believe that, then you're an idiot!"
"Well, then, what's your brilliant plan? You gonna fight them off? Punch them all? I thought you were so fantastic on platform one but now I realise, you're just useless." The Doctor barks.
"Just shut up and turn up the gas." Kathy retorts, struggling to hold back her tears at his harsh tone. She reaches around him, ripping a gas pipe from the wall next to him, causing the gas to hiss out immediately. The Gelth lets out a scream as they are sucked out of the bodies, making the corpses collapse to the ground uselessly. Rose and the Doctor stare at the sight in amazement and relief.
A coughing Dickens and Sneed are heard coming into the basement, turning down the flame of the lamps in the room. The trio quickly push their way out of the alcove.
"Gwyneth, send them back." The Doctor calls out to the girl who still stands under the arch. "They lied. They're not angels."
The girl sways on the spot, staring at them all in a daze. "Liars?" She questions softly.
"Look at me." The Doctor says firmly. "If your mother and father could look down and see this, they'd tell you the same. They'd give you the strength. Now send them back!"
Gwyneth continues to stare blankly at him. Her posture slumped as she limply stands there. Rose begins coughing as the gas filling the house fills her lungs. Dickens hurries her out of the room along with Sneed as Kathy and the Doctor stay behind with Gwyneth.
"They're too strong." Gwyneth murmurs.
"Remember that world you saw? Rose's world? All those people. None of it will exist unless you send them back through the rift." The Doctor pleads.
"I can't send them back." Gwyneth says. "But I can hold them. Hold them in this place, hold them here." She takes a box of matches from her apron pocket.
The Doctor shakes his head, holding out a hand for the matches. "Come on, leave give that to me." He insists.
Kathy grips her hands together tightly as they shake. Tears start to well up as the girl gazes back at them, unblinking and bleak of life. "Doctor... look at her," Kathy whispers.
The Doctor glances at Kathy then back to Gwyneth and reaches to feel for a pulse in her neck. Kathy knows he doesn't find one as his eyes grow sympathetic. "I'm sorry." He whispers sadly. He kisses her forehead. "Thank you." The Doctor runs out.
Kathy steps forward, tears leaking down her face as she stares at the lifeless girl. "Gwyneth, I'm so sorry." She breathes out shakily. "I wish- I wish..." She can't get the words out.
Gwyneth merely nods softly. "I know. It's all right' ma'am." She whispers.
Kathy gently gives Gwyneth her own kiss of gratitude on the forehead before running after the Doctor.
——
The moment Kathy sprints a short distance from the house, it explodes into a fiery flame. Destroying all the dead and the Gelth in one fatal swoop. Kathy continues to stare at the burning house for a moment, staring mournfully at the sight. Poor Gwyneth. Another life she's failed to save. Adding to the list of Sir Robert, Peter Street, Willa's granny and Fletcher.
Suddenly, she feels a tight angry hand on her shoulder. "You. You did this." He growls at her.
"I'm sorry." Kathy says quietly.
"You had the chance to warn us and you just sat there, doing nothing!" He shouts. "I bet you think you're so high and mighty, picking and choosing who to save. Trying to play the martyr—"
Kathy glares at him and, without realising what she's doing, slaps him in the face, stopping his rant. "You think I don't feel anything?! You think I don't feel the pain, torment and guilt for every life I fail to save no matter how many I do that would've died otherwise!"
"I—"
"Because that's what I feel every day!" Her whole body is shaking as she cries. "But there's nothing I can do. I have to carry on otherwise I'll fall apart. You know that feels, don't you?" The Doctor doesn't reply, only gapes at her in shock.
"I have all this knowledge, Doctor. I'm constantly worrying about how I'll make it worse if I try to change things, save people." Kathy murmurs softly. She sees Sneed, Dickens and Rose standing at the side, watching. "I do what I can."
"I'm sorry." The Doctor murmurs sombrely.
Kathy huffs a watery laugh. "Yeah, well," she sniffs, wiping away her tears, "it's not your fault, nor is it mine. It's the universe playing with us with all its cruelty and beauty."
"No, I- I'm the one that told Gwyneth to go under the arch." The Doctor awkwardly apologises. "I don't think I'd have listened to you anyway. I desperately wanted to save a species."
"You don't really know me yet." Kathy reassures him softly, still sniffling a little. "It's weird. I've gone from a you that knew me so well, even more than I know myself to a you that's so young and hardly knows me."
The Doctor scoffs. "I'm not that young." Kathy raises an eyebrow. He huffs a small laugh. "What'll happen now?"
Kathy shrugs. "Well, I was in the middle of running some errands. Need to get home."
Rose steps forward. "You can come with us. I'd like a girl onboard."
Kathy shakes her head. "I can't. I don't travel with you." Rose looks sad at that. "I'm sorry."
"Till the next time then, I'm assuming." The Doctor remarks awkwardly.
Kathy gives him a slight smile. "Till the next time, Doctor."

Forced To Believe Chapter 20- Total Divas Season 1 Episode 6
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: Melanie expresses concern over Jojo's choice of men and enjoys Vegas
Words: 1,000+
----
Eva Marie, Jojo and Melanie go to the gym. "We're gonna do some planks." Eva Marie said.
"Have fun, I'm going to the punching bag." Melanie walked away.
Eva and Jojo get started on their planks. "Okay, let's hold for ten seconds." Eva told her.
Eva Marie (So while Jojo and I were doing planks, we couldn't help but hear a lot of battle cries and grunting from Melanie and we saw her seriously kicking the punching bag's ass. I mean literally. Her face expression? She looked pissed.)
"Go Melanie go!" Jojo cheered.
"Is she mad about something?" Eva asked
"She's seriously not giving that punching bag any mercy."
Melanie gave the punching bag a big kick as she did a battle cry. The bag dropped and fell out of its holder as Jojo and Eva looked surprised.
Melanie's eyes widen as some workers and other superstars look at her.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry!" Melanie exclaimed as they laughed.
"It's fine." The worker chuckled and set it back up.
"Wow, Melanie." Eva chuckled.
"I said I was sorry. I had a moment." The Philly diva rubbed the back of her neck, with an embarrassed smile.
"Who were you thinking about while you were doing those hard shots?"
"I was working on my anger. I was thinking of Randy. Not in real life but in the storyline Creative wants me to be a little more aggressive soon since I'll be in a storyline with Randy again."
"Yikes, I totally don't want to get on your bad side." Jojo giggled
'Eva Marie and Jojo's apartment'
Melanie (Jojo and Eva are having a little get together since they got their new apartment. So happy for them. This is gonna be fun.)
"What's up, guys?" Melanie grinned as Jojo hugged her and shut the door.
"Where your Joker at?" Trinity grinned.
"Out of the States doing a wrestling show with Colby and Joe. He'll be going to Vegas though." Melanie explained as she sat on the couch with Nikki and Nattie. "You know what? Let's turn up!"
"Now you're talking!" Trinity put on some tunes and everyone started dancing and having fun. Later on, the girls sat down with Jojo to talk about Justin.
Melanie (Honestly, she just got out of a relationship and Justin is in his 30s. I just don't think it's going to work out. So, we are giving her a warning but we'll be there for her no matter what.)
"Hey, girl, I like me some older guys. Nothing wrong with that." Ariane said. "I had an ex boyfriend, I was 17 and he was 25. But when I turned 20, I dated a 41 year old."
"Yikes!" Melanie exclaimed as some divas gasped.
Melanie (She takes 'Age isn't nothing but a number' seriously.)
Jojo (It's true Justin is older than me but whatever happens, happens.)
Jojo and Justin go to another room while Melanie and Nikki sit on the couch.
"Aren't you gonna drink some wine?" Nikki asked.
"Nah. Not tonight." Melanie replied.
"Oh come on, let's all have a drink for a preview of Nattie's bachelorette party."
"I kind of stopped drinking,"
"Shut up!" Nikki exclaimed. "No, you did not."
"Sort of."
"When did this happen? When's the last time you were drunk or had a buzz?"
"Uh...a while. It's a bit of a long story..."
Melanie (Ah...for personal reasons...)
"Girl talk." Nikki motioned to the other girls.
"What's wrong?" Nattie asked.
"Melanie stopped drinking," Nikki replied.
"I didn't stop completely. I just try to limit it." Melanie replied.
"Really? You were always the party girl." Eva asked.
"Yes, girl. She always be booty popping." Ariane started shaking her ass as the girls laughed.
'Las Vegas, Nevada'
The divas and guys but Melanie arrive in a hotel room and get situated.
"Where did Melanie go?" Nattie asked.
"She went to meet up with Jon," Eva answered. "She said she'll meet up with us before it's time to go to your bachelorette party."
"Let's have a pool party. Can someone text Melanie to tell her what's up?" Brie asked.
"I will." Trinity said as she whipped out her phone.
'To Melanie'
Melanie (Jon is coming back from his international tour with Colby and Joe. So now I just gotta wait for him to get to the Palms hotel.)
Moments later she saw him arrive in jeans, a blue shirt and sunglasses as he carried his bags inside.
"Yay, you're here!" She ran to give him a big hug.
"What I miss?" Jon greeted her with a kiss.
"We're having a pool party and we gotta get in our rooms. I have the keys. Follow me." She replied
Later on, at poolside, Melanie and Jon walked over to the gang.
"Sorry, we're late. Had to find our hotel room." Melanie gave everyone an apologetic smile while Jon had an arm around her waist. Moments later, she went over to Nikki and Nattie. "Hey!"
"Wow, you look hot." Nikki grinned as she gave her a friendly hug. She checked out Melanie's dark blue two piece swimsuit.
"Haha, thanks."
"You look so good." Nattie smiled and hugged her.
The three girls sit down.
"So, what's going on?" Melanie asked.
"Jaret sent me another text." Nattie said as Nikki and Melanie glanced at each other. "It's harmless." She reassured.
"Nattie, it's not harmless," Nikki said.
"Agreed," Melanie replied.
Nikki (These texts from Jaret are so flirty)
Melanie (Someone's flirting up a storm. Nattie isn't seeing how he's really flirting with her.)
"That smiley face in that text means it's time to get it on." Nikki stated.
"Kind of agree. I mean, he said he'll be thinking about you in his dreams. That's uh...yeah..." Melanie shrugged.
"Please don't mention this to Brie or anyone else." Nattie said.
"I'll be back, I'm gonna pull a prank on Jon." Melanie grinned. She got up and walked up to him as he was talking to Justin, Jon Uso, and Trinity. "Hey guys."
"Hey, girl." Trinity grinned and hugged her.
"Hey, Jon you see that over there?" Melanie asked as Jon turned around. She quickly pushed him into the pool and everyone laughed. "Haha, couldn't resist."
"You are so dead." Jon grinned and got out of the pool to chase after her
"I didn't do anything!" Melanie yelled with laughter as she ran from him.
"Run!" Trinity shouted.
"He's so gonna catch her." Jon Uso chuckled.
Nikki (These two like to play around a lot. Wonder if they play around like that in bed.)
Melanie (If Jon ever sprints towards me, the only thing on my mind is...Flee! Get the hell out of there! But he always catches me so, I always get thrown in the pool with him.)
Jon easily caught her bridal style.
"No! Time out! Time out!" Melanie yelled but got thrown in the pool. She swam back up to the surface and pushed her hair back. "Not cool man! Not cool!"
Jon laughed. "Here I'll help you up." He had his hand out to help her out of the pool but she grabbed it and pulled him down to make him fall in.
"Oh!" The gang exclaimed.
Melanie grabbed Jon in a headlock. "Victory is mine!"
Jojo (They are just so funny together.)
After Melanie and Jon's little playful fight, TJ and Nattie get in the pool
"Let's play a game!" Melanie suggested
TJ and Nattie agreed to play chicken with Melanie and Jon as the girls got on the guys' shoulders.
Melanie (Not going down without a fight. It's on!)
"On your mark...get set...go!" Ariane announced as Melanie and Nattie tried to push each other off.
Melanie managed to push Nattie down after a while.
"Yes! Justice has been served!" Melanie cheered.
"Damn right!" Jon shouted as she got off his shoulders and kissed him.
Nattie (I have never seen Melanie smile this much. Ever since her relationship with Jon, she has just been glowing. I'm really happy for her.)
'Back To The Hotel Room'
"Us girls are gonna get ready for Nattie's bachelorette party and we can't be late. We love you guys but we gotta go." Nikki said.
"Eva, Jojo and I are gonna go out and look around while you girls do your thing. Have fun. Tell us all about it when you get back." Melanie waved.
I hope you guys are okay with just walking around." Jojo said as she walked around the hotel with them.
Jojo (I'm not 21 so I can't do anything. I can't gamble, I can't go out.)
Eva Marie (Jojo is so upset, she's nineteen, she can't even legally drink if she wanted to. I don't drink because of personal reasons and Melanie is trying to limit her drinking so we decided to walk with Jojo. And...guess who we see?)
The girls see Justin with another girl.
"He told me he was out and I'm like cool, whatever. Fuck you, that's all I care." Jojo retorted.
Melanie (I knew this was bound to happen. I knew it.)
"That's the thing, he's stupid right now and doesn't understand what's going on." Jojo went on as they walked outside.
Eva Marie (I see Justin go inside a cab with another chick.)
"Oh my God, he just bounced in the cab with another chick. That's it, dude, I'm done. I'm fucking done..." Jojo shook her head.
Melanie (I feel so sorry for her...)
Eva Marie (I feel bad for Jojo but we all warned her. Now hopefully she learned her lesson.)
"I really, really liked him. I really did." Jojo sadly said
Melanie nodded as Jojo vented to her and Eva on the bed in their hotel room.
"I still do." Jojo sighed as Eva Marie and Melanie glanced at each other
Melanie (It's going to be tough but I just hope she learns her lesson. She needs to get over that man for real. He's not worth it)
Eva Marie (What more do you need to understand that he's not serious with you?)
"Everything will be all right." Eva Marie tried to make her feel better and Jojo gave them both a hug.
'Next night'
Melanie and the gang have dinner to celebrate Nattie's upcoming wedding with TJ.
"Cheers to 13 years of a relationship, that finally the time has come to make it official even though I know in their hearts that it's already been official. So thank you for having us here for the special time and we look forward to being there on your special day, at your wedding." Brie smiled, making a toast.
Brie (I find Nattie and TJ's relationship beautiful.)
Melanie (They are such an awesome couple. I cannot wait for their wedding.)
"Toast to orgasms and boners!" Nikki toasted with everyone as everyone laughed.
"Happy bachelorette Nattie." Nikki grinned as a waiter brought in a cake of a man's chest and abs and his lower area.
"Oh...my...God." Nattie looked in surprise.
Nattie bit the lower area as everyone laughed and cheered. Later on, some people started to notice that Vincent and Ariane were starting to have some problems. He kept acting wild as Ariane tried to tell him to calm down and stop. Later on, the waiters bring out cotton candy.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Jojo said happily.
"Yes! Cotton candy! Childhood memories" Melanie cheered. She grabbed a handful and fed it to Jon as he did the same to her. "All right that's enough for you. This is mine now." She said while he laughed in response.
"Babe!" Ariane pushed the long piece of cotton candy from her face as Vincent started playing around with it. "No."
Ariane (Okay, you're making an ass out of yourself. What are you doing? I'ma need you to get it together.)
After dinner, everyone went to the Ghost Bar and started to party as Melanie danced with Trinity and Nikki.
"Go Trin!" Melanie grinned as she started going all out with her dance moves.
But then Vincent started drinking too many shots.
Ariane (Right now we're having a great time but Vinny might have had one, two, three too many shots. I just hope tonight, he doesn't get too crazy.)
As the night went on, Melanie and the rest of the girls started to notice Vincent and Ariane arguing.
Melanie (I'm not touching that with a 60 foot pole. I'm gonna mind my business.)
Trinity (Ariane and Vinny are just back and forth arguing. And he's crying, I mean you're supposed to be turnt up. Not turnt down.)

Part 1
Tumblr media
When Tom woke up on Saturday morning he was disappointed to realize that you were no longer there, for a moment he thought that maybe it had all been a dream or just his imagination playing with him, but something inside him knew that no, that the incident had really happened.
"Incident" was how Tom was referring to the whole of Friday night. It had been a bad idea, he knew, meeting you at that bar, inviting you to sit with him, kissing you, taking you to his apartment, and everything that happened after that. He knew it was wrong, but he couldn't help it.
MONDAY:
Tom was nervous. It was the first time he had seen her since Friday and he still didn't know how to handle it.
You walked into the auditorium that morning and it seemed that fate loved to play with you as the two of your gazes met almost instantly, he swallows dryly and you blush before quickly looking away and running to your seat at the back of the room.
"Good morning everyone" He says starting his class, everyone in the room answers him quickly.
"Good morning Mr. Holland" Cindy, one of your students, says cheerfully "Looks like you had a great weekend" she points to a small purple spot on your neck, all the students start laughing as soon as she notices it. You sink into your chair, wanting to hide, mortified with embarrassment, remembering very well that you made that mark on Tom who was blushing in front of everyone's eyes.
"Anyway" he huffs loudly taking the students' attention back to class "I've corrected your Brontë sisters' papers, I'm happy to say that we got very good grades, but only one got a top grade, I'll give it back to you Wednesday" he says before continuing his lesson.
•─────✧─────•─────✧─────•
The class passes slowly, like torture for both of them, they just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. They needed to talk about what they had done, but they were more than happy not to do that today.
"That's all for today, remember to turn in your next paper on Monday and get ready for the debate next month, see you all on Wednesday" he says to everyone as his class ends. Slowly the room starts to empty, but you can't get out as a hand grabs your wrist making you turn to see who it was.
"Y/N" Mike, the boy who had missed your date on Friday was standing there holding your hand "I just wanted to apologize again for not coming on Friday, I didn't mean to ruin your weekend kitten" he apologizes.
"It's okay, really, you didn't ruin my weekend" you answer politely.
"If you want" he says getting closer to you "We can reschedule, I promise I won't cancel this time" he gives you a conquering smile.
Tom settles back in his chair, moving his hands nervously across his lap. He didn't want to hear your conversation, but as soon as he heard no names being called he started to pay attention, he had no right to be jealous, you weren't his girl, but he hoped you wouldn't accept it, you deserved much better than that boy in front of you.
"Mike, I'm sorry, but I can't accept it" You say, trying to be polite and pulling away from him a little.
"Just a date kitten" Tom rolls his eyes from where he was sitting, did he not understand what no was?
"We better just be friends" you dismiss yourself before leaving the room.
"Girls" the idiot says before leaving the room.
TUESDAY:
Thomas only saw you once that day, talking to your friends in the hallways.
He felt your gaze on him, which made his heart beat faster, and when he returned your gaze you looked away, blushing at having been caught in the act.
As he lay in his bed that night, the memories came back, he was beginning to hate it. Avoidance and being avoided, the two of them should talk about what happened instead of pretending not to and acting like children.
WEDNESDAY:
You were pacing back and forth in the hallway, debating with yourself, trying to decide whether or not to go into that office.
This morning, as Tom walked around the room handing out corrected papers to his students, he left his paper on your desk whispering a congratulations before moving on to the next student. You saw the top grade written on the first page and a little yellow post-it note placed there saying "Meet me in my office at 18:00, please".
It was still 17:50, you could still get away from there and that conversation, but you didn't want to, as nervous as you were you knew what you needed to do. You knock on the door and open it just as you hear a "come in" coming from inside.
"You came" he says getting up from his chair and gives you a shy smile.
"You asked..."
"I didn't think you would actually come."
"I think we really should talk Mr. Holland" you says nervously looking down at her own feet so she doesn't have to face him.
"Mister Holland?" He asks "I thought i asked to call me Tom"
"I can't do that"
"I understand" His voice, there was something different in it, hurt perhaps.
A silence fills the room for a few minutes before he begins to speak.
"I'm sorry about Friday."
"Why are you apologizing?" You asks without understanding.
"I just...thought you..." He sighs walking over to stand in front of your desk, only a few steps away from you.
"I don't regret what we did" You speak as soon as you realize where your speech was going.
"No?" He finally looks directly at you.
"No, my God, I loved every part of that night" a small smile appears on his lips which fades soon after as you continue to speak "But that doesn't mean it wasn't wrong, we shouldn't have let it get to that point".
"I know it wasn't, I know...it was so wrong"
For some reason it was painful to be in that room without being able to touch him again.
"I really wish I wasn't your teacher" he walks towards you "To have met you at another time, maybe then I could have had you to myself, take you out without fear of anyone seeing us, hold your hand, kiss you" His hand caresses your face and you close your eyes leaning in to feel his touch more "I wanted so much Y/N, I wanted to make you my girl...I really like you"
"Thomas, I like you too..." You sigh, your heart aching with every word spoken "But sometimes liking isn't enough for two people to stay together."
"I know, and that's the part that hurts the most" He forehead rests against yours, both of you with your eyes closed, in-between sloshed breaths that were already mingling, Tom felt a tear run down his cheek, your mouths so close "Y/N..."
"Thomas..."
"Tom man, we are late, your brothers will kill us if we are late again" Someone says opening the door suddenly just as you and he are about to kiss. The two of you quickly walk away panting for breath trying to recover from the moment, Tom quickly wipes the tear from his face. A tall blond man that you had seen other times in the halls together with Tom looks at you not understanding anything.
"Am I interrupting something?" the blond man asks suspiciously.
"No" the two of you answer quickly.
"Harrison, this is my student, Y/N" Tom introduces the two of you, perhaps as a way to change the subject "Y/N, this is Harrison Osterfield, professor in the physics department and my best friend".
"It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Y/N" He extends his hand to greet her " I have heard Tom compliment you several times, always saying that you are the best student in your class".
"My pleasure Mr. Osterfield" you shake his hand "I think he is just exaggerating a lot, anyway, I better go, I don't want to get in the way anymore, bye" you take your things and leave the room leaving the two men alone there.
"Wait a moment" He say to Harrison before coming after you.
He holds your wrist and makes you look at him, honestly he almost didn't care anymore that the two of you were standing in the middle of the empty university hallway.
"Y/N please" he says.
"Please what?" you say hurt "Do you want me to stay here? To fight for a passion that is doomed to fail? Something that could end my life at this university or end your career?
"Don't talk like that, we can make it work" he says hurt.
"I wish I was brave enough to try, I swear I do" you let go of his hand "But I'm not, it was just one night stand sex and as much as I like you I know that the sooner we get over it and move on the better, for both of us" you turn and walk away, leaving Tom standing there alone in the hallway with his hurt.
THURSDAY:
Your heart was still hurting. Last night you collapsed on your knees as soon as you got to your dorm room and let the tears finally fall, you were lucky you didn't have a roommate so you could cry all day long without having to answer questions about why you were so bad. And you cried until your eyes hurt, screamed against your pillow until your throat burned, let the sadness leave your body until you finally gave in to tiredness and went to sleep.
Tom was no better off than you, he spent the whole dinner with your family quiet while everyone else at the table talked, he wished so much that he wasn't in love with you, he wished it really had only been one-night stands, maybe then he wouldn't feel like he could die at any moment if he didn't have you by his side.
In different places, but sharing the same pain.
FRIDAY:
Tom looked across the room at you, his eyes red and his expression sad, it looked like you had been crying all night, and you really had, he wanted to go over there and hug you and tell you that everything would be okay, but he couldn't.
If they had thought Monday's class had been torture, this was something worse. Tom gave his class trying to avoid looking in your direction, while you couldn't pay attention to anything that was being said, you just wanted to go back to your room and cry some more. It was the last class of the day so you ran to your room as soon as it was over.
•─────✧─────•─────✧─────•
Tom was tapping his pen frantically on his desk, he should have been correcting his students' work but his mind was elsewhere and his head hurt like it was going to explode at any moment.
"Okay, what the fuck is going on?" Harrison asks, he was with Tom in his office and was starting to get irritated with his best friend.
"What?" Tom asks waking up from his thoughts.
"Tom you've been acting weird all fucking week, you spent the entire Wednesday dinner quiet a thing you don't often do."
"I don't know what you are talking about" he pretends to be paying attention to the papers in front of him.
"Does it have anything to do with that girl who was here?" he asks curious, Tom doesn't answer which only confirms Harrison's thoughts "Oh my god, it has everything to do with her doesn't it?".
"I really don't want to talk about it"
"You like her, that's why you're all emotional, because you can't be with her" Harrison speaks and Tom wonders when did his best friend get so good at unraveling his feelings.
"I had sex with her on Friday" Tom admits at once, his friend had already figured out pretty much everything so there was no reason to keep secrets anymore.
"WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME THAT?" he practically shouts.
"Can you keep it down please, you're acting like a teenager, we passed that stage a long time ago and I don't want the whole campus to find out."
"I'm not the one acting like a teenager, you are, getting all angry and quiet over something that can easily be resolved" Harrison rolls his eyes as he states the obvious.
"She doesn't want me Harrison, she likes me, but she doesn't want me, she's scared and I can't judge her because I am too, this could destroy my teaching career and end her reputation here"
"Tom, isn't she one of the students graduating this year?" Harrison asked even though he already knew the answer.
"Yeah"
"Dude, she's graduating in less than 5 months and you're telling me that the two of you can't keep this relationship a secret for 5 months?"
"I..." Tom hadn't stopped to think about it.
"I'm sure you two can make it work."
"What if she's not willing to try?"
"You should at least try, Holland, go out there and fight for your girl" He encourages his friend.
"I think you are right, I will do it".
"Of course I'm right" He smiles smugly "Anyway, I don't want to have to put up with your sadness any longer" He says laughing.
•─────✧─────•─────✧─────•
It was almost midnight when you hear someone knocking on your dormitory door, you get out of bed and go to open the door.
"Thomas what are you doing here?" You ask as you see him standing outside, he walks into your dorm still without giving any explanation, you close the door and turn to see him "What kind of idiotic idea is this to come to my dorm, someone could see you here, how would we explain this?" You ask in an agitated manner.
Tom doesn't answer at first, he just looks at you, the baggy sweatshirt too big for your body, the hair tied back with a few strands falling in front of your face and the glasses on the end of your nose, and he can't resist. He walks toward you and kisses you, holding your face between his hands, his hands against your chest as you respond to his kiss, his heart beating hard in his chest and the sense of relief that he is kissing you again after what seems like the longest week of his life.
"I'm sorry" he says pulling away "I didn't come to do this, I just wanted to talk and..."
"It's okay" he fixes his glasses on his face.
"Y/N, I really like you, this is so stupid, I just... I want to try this, it's only five months until you graduate, we can make it...
"Tom" you try to interrupt him but he keeps talking non-stop.
"...to do this, I'm sure it wouldn't be easy at first and it's not the kind of relationship that's ideal or the relationship that someone like you deserves..."
"Tom" calls him again.
"But I'm willing to try, for you, for us, I want to try..." You kiss him again making him stop talking.
"I'm willing to try Tom" you say between kisses and he smiles "For us"
"I didn't think you would accept, I was already preparing myself for a no" you both laugh.
He sits down on your bed and pulls you to sit on his lap with each leg on one side of your body, he takes the glasses off your face and places them on your desk before kissing you.
"Damn, I missed that" he sighs between the kiss.
"It's literally only been a week" you say smiling.
"Really? It's felt like forever" he kisses you more intensely this time, his hands gripping your hips tightly making you move over his lap, the kisses slide down your face to your neck, you throw your head back.
"Tom" you say his name as a plea, his hands slide up your thigh squeezing you firmly.
"What do you want princess?" He asks with his head in the curve of your neck before leaving a small bite in that region.
"You, Thomas, I need you" you slowly roll over in his lap feeling his already hard length under you "please".
He smiles smugly at your response. Your sweatshirt is removed leaving you in just your panties and Tom lays you down on your bed placing his body on top of yours .
"This has been the most torturous week of my life" he removes the rest of his clothes and throws them on the floor "I couldn't get you out of my mind" he leaves a kiss on her neck exactly where he had "I thought about how I wanted to feel you again" the kisses descend to the top of her breasts and one of his hands grab her thigh wrapping her leg around his waist while the other goes down to her intimacy pulling her panties apart just enough for two fingers to touch them "That pussy is so wet, all this for me honey? "
"Yes, all for you Tom" he smiles at her answer before penetrating her with his fingers causing a quiet moan to come from her lips.
"Good girl."
"Your girl" you sigh ecstatic with pleasure.
"Fuck" Tom kisses you again, your words making him even harder than he already was "Say that again " he thrusts his fingers inside you reaching that wonderful spot inside you.
"I.Am.Your.Girl."
"My girl."
He had barely started and you were already so close, but he doesn't let you get there, teases you to the edge before stopping and doing it all over again.
"Please stop teasing me, I'm so close" you beg.
"No princess, I want you to cum around my dick" He says pulling his fingers out of you and removing your panties before turning you both over on the bed making you stand on top, he sits against the headboard as you rest your hands on his shoulders "now ride me like the good girl I know you are".
You sit on his member feeling him fill you completely, you both moan the moment you are finally together, standing still for a moment to get used to his size. Moving slowly until you finally get into a rhythm.
"So so good" he moans, his hand gripping her throat the way he remembered he had made her go crazy last time "So beautiful riding my dick" his other hand leaves a slap on her ass making her moan his name out loud as she throws her head, back rolling over in his lap .
"Tom I'm so close" you say as he gives you a push with his hips making his cock hit your G-spot, his hand making circular motions against your clit this time.
"Come to me then baby" he says and with a few more movements you are enjoying his wrist making you come next, your head falls on his shoulder and he spreads kisses down your neck as you recover from your recent orgasm.
•─────✧─────•─────✧─────•
You were wearing your shirt now, your head lying on his chest as he stroked your hair.
"You'll still be here when I wake up, right?
"Well this is my dorm so I can't leave" you say as a joke.
"I'm serious Y/N" he says laughing.
"Yeah, I'm not going anywhere" you smile fondly returning to lie on his chest closing your eyes almost falling asleep with his affection.
"Good, I don't want you to leave, I want you forever" he kisses the top of your head before falling asleep with you in his arms, no goodbyes this time.

Toph x Reader
Summary: You finally propose to Toph after trying and failing for a few months. You assist Aang with the Fire Lord and get injured, now it’s a rush against time to get you to Katara to be healed.
Warning: Light cursing?
(Everyone is aged up by 10 years and instead of the comet being at the end of summer, it was in 10 years. You are also an air bender, one managed to escape and married into a earth kingdom family undercover.)
Tumblr media
Where did everything go wrong? Toph thought as she help your now mostly limp body in her hands. She wish she could see you just once. Toph felt a semi cold hand touch her face causing her to smile. "Hey you just have to hold on for a few more minutes, okay? We are almost to Katara and Zuko, Katara can heal you." Toph pulled you into her more, not wanting to let you go anytime soon. Toph felt you grab her hand and kiss the ring on her finger. She has only wore it for a week so far and it was already her most prized possession.
*Flashback Start*
"Sokka I don't know if I can do this!" "Come on y/n, you've been in love with Toph since you were kids. Hell before you both even joined our group! If she doesn't say yes than the spirit world isn't real. And I know for a fact that it is... And it has no bathrooms!" You shake your head with a smile at Sokka trying to cheer you up. "But we're still in the middle of a war! One that is ending in a week, whether we win or not." "Well would you rather risk losing and not proposing or just pray we win and then get the chance to propose." You sigh, knowing Sokka was right. "Okay I got this. I am going to walk right up to her, get on one knee... do I need to get on one knee? It's not like she can see see me." "I would do it just in case so she doesn't beat you up." You nod at Sokka, "Okay, I am going to march back into the party, walk up to her, pull her away from the party, confess my love to her, propose, and have a fiancé!" Sokka cheers at your new fond confidence. You and Sokka do your secret handshake before walking back into the party. "I got this."
You didn't have it. You had managed to get Toph away from the party and were a stuttering mess. When you finally calmed down and were ready to speak, the party got busted and you all had to run. You tried for a whole month and every time you were about to propose, you got interrupted. It was finally your last chance before everyone got super focused and ready for the upcoming battle. You and Toph were in your tent on the bed next to each other. Yo sit up suddenly and pull Toph into a sitting position next to you. "What are you doing?" "Something I have been trying to do for the past month." You say as you reach over to grab the ring out of your bag. You grab it and face Toph again. "Okay, Toph I--" You get cut off by Aang bursting into the room with Katara right behind him. "Toph I need to---" "I'm sorry I tried to stop---" Both of them talking over each other added to your growing frustration from all your other failed attempts to propose and you finally broke. "That is it!" Katara and Aang looked at you shocked at your outburst. Sokka also came over to the tent to see what was going on.
"I have been trying for the past month to do this! And every single time I get interrupted! But not this time!" You say and grab both of Toph's hand and pull her to stand up. "Toph I love you and I have since we were kids. I had this whole big speech planned out but after getting interrupted at least 10 times trying to do this, I am going to keep it short and sweet. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know we're kind of young but you've been in my life for so long that I know we're ready for the next step. You are independent, brave, strong headed and the love of my life. Will you marry me?" Everyone was shook and Toph actually let a few tears slip. She punched you on the shoulder before pulling you into a hug, "Of course I'll marry you." You wore the biggest grin on your face for the rest of the day.
*Flashback End*
"I should have stayed with you. I should have helped you and Aang fight the fire lord." You shook your head slightly, making you dizzy. "No, your the only person in the world who can metal bend, Sokka and Suki needed your help taking out the balloons (Blimps? What are they called?)." You shivered a little and closed your eyes some. "Hey, no no no, you gotta keep your eyes open for me." "I'm just so tired..." Toph held you tighter and looked over to hang who was driving the bison. "Can Appa go any faster!?" She yelled over the wind. Aang turned around and noticed how pale you had got, he also noticed how your blood had started to drip on to the saddle. "Come on Appa, yip yip!" Aang said, forcing Appa to fly faster than ever before. Sokka, who was holding his broken arm, and Suki were sitting across from you and Toph, worry clear on their face. Suki moved over some and got your attention, "How about to help you stay awake, we talk about what you want in your wedding." Toph gave her a look of gratefulness before looking back down at you.
"Yeah no better time than the present." You smiled at the thought of marrying Toph. "We could have it under that tree you always like to go to." Toph said getting the conversation started. "But I am definitely not walking down the aisle though." You laughed. The conversation was good and light for a while but once you were almost there, everything got worse. "Yeah and then---" Toph's talking got cut off suddenly by you coughing. You turned your head to the side and coughed up blood. Toph also noticed that you had bled through the bandages wrapped around your wound. "Aang! Are we almost there!?" Toph was in complete panic now, you felt colder and you had started shaking. "We are here!" Aang jumped off of Appa and used his air bending to bring you over to Katara and Zuko. Katara saw Aang running up to them and smiled before seeing the fear on his face and your limp body floating in the air.
Katara shot up immediately and had Zuko direct Aang and Toph to a tub, while she had Suki help her get water to fill the tub. When Katara got to the bathroom, she had everyone except Toph clear out. Toph held your hand and "watched" as Katara started to heal her. After an hour so Toph was getting worried. "Is she better yet?" Katara lets out a sigh. "I've done what I can but..." "But what?" "I don't know if she'll be able to walk again." Toph squeezed your hand after hearing that.
*Time skip*
"Toph... Toph. Toph!" "Huh? What? I'm awake!" Toph practically jumped out of her seat at hearing you yell her name. You smiled at her reaction and grab her hand. "The water is cold and my fingers look like raisins and..." Toph got confused when you stopped talking. "Y/n?" "I... I... Can't..." Now Toph was worried, "You can't what?" "I can't feel my legs! Why can't I feel my legs!" You yelled, starting to freak out. Toph could feel your heart beat pick up and reached out for you to grab her other hand. 'Y/n stop! Take a deep breath. Okay? Everything will be okay, we'll work through this." You started calming down after hearing Toph's words. Everything would be alright... right?
*Time Skip*
"Ladies and Gentleman I present to you, Toph and Y/n Beifong!" All your friends cheered as you walked down the aisle holding Toph's hand. You were still paralyzed from the waist down, but Sokka had gotten together with Teo and made a contraption that allowed you to walk with little to no assistance and gave it to you as a early wedding gift. You and, shockingly, Toph both cried when they gave it to you a week before the wedding. Now you could actually stand when you and Toph did your first dance as a married couple. Toph rested her head your chest and giggled hearing your heart beat pick up. After dating for 10 years (y'all started dating at 15, got engaged at 22 and married at 25) she still managed to make you blush and act like a kid with a silly school crush. "I am so thankful that Sokka and Teo made these things for me." "I mean, I still would have married you either way." You nodded with a smile, "I know... We are probably the weirdest looking couple out here." Toph furrowed her eyebrows before "looking" up at you, "What do you mean?" "I mean a blind super powerful earth bender and a paralyzed and now bald air bender." Toph laughed at your words before rubbing the top of your head. "Yeah it's weird to feel your head now." "It's okay, I'm going to grow my hair back. I know how much you love it, especially when---" Toph punches you in the shoulder. "Really y/n? I thought I was the one in this relationship who made those types of remarks." You giggled before responding, "Well I can't just let you have all the fun now, can I?" Toph rolls her eyes and lays her head back on your chest. It's silent between you for a few beats before Toph speaks. "I can't wait to spend forever with you." You smile largely at her statement. "I can't wait to spend forever with you too."

Luke patterson x oc
Tumblr media
2020
Sabrina knew exactly where they'd be staying at so the next morning she visits the studio. She poofed in behind Alex drums expecting the boys sitting on the couch but it was empty, just a girl walked into it searching for some guys.
The girl sat down at the piano Sabrina loved to play. And the girl herself began to play some chords. Her voice was angelic.
An older man arrived at the front and looked to the garage, he had a smile on his face, looking relieved.
Sabrina studied her face, her movement and her emotions, somewhere she'd seen this face.
Suddenly the three faces she tried to avoid where behind the singing girl. They didn't seem to notice her again, thank god.
When she finished Alex was about to touch her shoulder to take her into an embrace but Luke stopped him.
The next moment the boys were right next to her. Luke's back was facing her and so did Reggie's. Alex eyes glued on her but he decides to ignore her.
"Oh, dude why'd you stopped me? Julie needs a hug,"
"Bro, a ghost hug isn't the feel-good moment that you think is. All right," he explains.
"Trust me. What Julie needs right now is just a bit of privacy" well Luke wasn't wrong nor right.
The fact that Luke didn't had a girlfriend himself as he was still alive is mostly due to his lack of understanding women or was it?
1993
"Why don't you just go over? They're staring at you since we arrived," Sabrina points over to the group of three girls which all began to wave as Luke's graze fell on them.
"Nah, all they do is to apply make up and tattle about other" he argues.
"You're an idiot" she laughs. At this sight in front of him, her, his mouth curved into a smile.
"You're just jealous," he joins her laughter.
"I'm jealous? Ab- about what? Girls looking at you? You're totally an idiot"
'of course I am'
Maybe it was because they always had a thing for each other or maybe they didn't found anyone that was as similar as the others. They had a connection no one understood. Alex himself tried to understand it, really he tried his best but somehow nobody else has what they had.
2020
"You know what? I think you poofed us out because you can't handle when people cry," Alex states.
"I should know. I cried in a room for 25 years, and I didn't get a single hug from either of you, just.." he ends before he could say more.
"All right, being it on" Reggie opened his arms to embrace Alex.
"Don't touch me," he threw his hand in the air to imply to him to stop right there.
"That is why no one hugs you," Reggie explains.
"Just what? What do you have to tell us Alex. You're poofing out and then you'd come back crying, obviously and don't tell us where you've been and.. and," Luke starts to stutter at the end.
"I promised. I can't tell you. She.." he stops, his eyes searching for his sister no where to found.
"She?" Reggie questions.
"As in Sa.. Sabrina?" His voice shaking.
The blonde girl hid behind a hedge not knowing if her 'powers' would just make her visible for them.
"N.. no, she wouldn't hide for you guys, I.. I mean you were her family," Alex insists.
"I avoid you." Goosebumps forming on Luke's body as her sweet voice reached his ears.
The girl stepped out from behind the spot.
The sunlight shone on her body and make her look like an angel, Luke thought.
"Brina," he exhales, his view starts to blurry.
"Just hear me out, please, Alex,' she didn't dared to look into his eyes nor his face.
"It wasn't easy for me to leave you all behind. And when I came back as you all played for the first time again. I.. I tried everything to let you know I'm with you. I was in the Orpheum when you had rehearsal, when you talked to the woman and... and when," she gulped tears were streaming down her face
"I just couldn't," Sabrina shook her head as she placed her hands in front of her face.
"You kissed my temple right?" She nodded.
"This whole time. Why didn't you say something, you could have found us. Did Alex, did he knew?" And again she just nodded.
"And you didn't told us Alex? Are you serious?!" Sabrina began to move towards Luke her hand reaching for his and he pulled away.
"Can we talk Luke? Alone?" She suggests.
"No" he coldly says. Sabrina needed to get out of there and poofed herself out. The group was quiet, frozen in tracks.
After collecting his thoughts, I..I think we should, when we have the Courage, ask Julie why she lied go us about the piano," he spoke.
"Yeah, maybe tell her how amazing she's."
"She's legit. I got ghost bumps," he shoved his sleeves up.
A sobbing girl walked past the group to the door of the studio.
" Oh my gosh, was she crying too?" Alex whispers towards his friends.
"Yes," Luke hisses while turning around.
"And the only thing scarier than one girl crying is two girl crying."
"He's right." Alex experienced quite a few times with Sabrina and her friends.
"Guys, we definitely can't go in there," Luke states.
"But we can listen," Reggie points out. And so the three teenager made their way over to the door and peeked through the windows. When Julie's graze rose up to the other girl the boys went down abruptly so they wouldn't be seen by her.
The teenage girls walked out of the garage and Julie greeted the boys which irritated her friend.
They moved past the group and to the stairs.
Reggie calls "don't worry! We weren't listening" in her direction and Luke kicked him.
In the next second the boys were in the garage.
"I wonder why Julie didn't tell us she could play the piano," Reggie began.
"And sing. That girl can sing," Luke added.
"I didn't heard a voice like thins since.." he stopped.
"You know," he shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah, you're right," Alex agrees.
"I think it probably has something to do with her mom. You know."
"Must've been hard," he went on and moves to the stairs .
"Anyway, I really feel for her," he says at he climbs up.
"Yeah, but," Luke took a seat at the piano.
"Now that she's got music back in her life, just like us."
“Yeah, I’m not sure you can call what we have a life,” Alex calls from the little loft in the garage.
“Oh hey, some of the clothes we left behind are still up here.” He threws the bag down.
“Sweet,” Luke tears his sweater and shirt off his body.
“Oh, same clothes since ’95, boys.”
Julie’s dad steps into the garage, walking through Reggie, “Oh, that was weird!”
“But somehow I can tell this man has a kind heart,” he describes.
Alex sat down, his legs hanging down, his arms resting on the railing. He watched his friends.
“so how have you been?” the older man began. Reggie concernd that the man was talking to him.
“Honestly, not that good. See we ate these hot dogs, and—”
“Julie sang for the first time this morning,” his feet
“Ah!”
“She hadn’t done that in almost a year. You would’ve loved it.
“Yeah, we saw cause we were.. Oh!” It hit Reggie like a rock. The man hold his camera up and the clicking of the shutter filled the room.
“Oh, I get it.” Reggie waved his hand in front of his face.
The raven haired boy turned to his friend, “He.. He’s not talking to us.”
“you are so lucky you can play bass.”
“Pretty sure he’s talking to Julie’s mom," Alex insists.
“She’s such an amazing young woman,” he reached the piano.
“Every day she reminds me more and more of you.
“Called it,” the blonde exclaims.
“Oh, I’m.. uh.. I’m taking for the real estate website. I don’t reall wanna move, but.. It’s the best for Julie,” the three ghost’s were now assembled around the piano.
Luke leans on the piano facing Julie’s dad, “Move?”
“There’s so many memories of Julie playing next to you, and.. Carlos trying to sing with his missing two front teeth,” he remembers chuckling. The shaggy jaired boy breathed shakily bringing his hand up his face to cover it.
Reggie turns to his friend, “Oh no, Luke, not you too.”
“He.. He’s talking about moving, but the poor guy, he doesn’t wanna move,” he explains like the other two haven’t widness it.
Their little scene was interrupt by the man again, “It’s like they grew up.. out here.”
“Oh man, now’s he’s got me too,” Reggie sobs, fanning himself.
“Okay, how am I the emotional one?” Alex argues.
“C-C-Can we go see my family and see how they’re doing?”
“Yeah listening to this feels wrong.”
“Hey, do you remember when the kids were at your sister’s, and we came out her eon our anniversary..”
“Yeah. No definitely wrong,” Luke poofed himself out of the picture. The other two mirrored his action.

i think i’m losing my mind
summary: reader finds out the truth about her ancestors...
pairing: obi wan kenobi x reader
word count: 1.6k+
warnings: none
author’s note: enjoy obi wan while you have him....
Tumblr media
ARRIVING BACK TO Obi Wan's planet, the droids greeted both Obi Wan and [Y/N]. Keeping distance as the relationship between the Jedi and a regular civilian was masked, for a Jedi was never allowed to love in such ways.
Once turning the corners, less and less people appeared. Obi Wan took one last look around, then quickly pulled [Y/N] inside his room.
Their heads were intensely close, they're eyes showing how captivated they were in each other. Slowly moving away, Obi Wan took of his cloak. [Y/N] sat on a comfortable chair next to the dresser.
"Will you teach me now?"
"What do you expect me to teach you in here?" He spoke as he frowned walking towards [Y/N].
"The ways of the force. What else did you have in mind?" [Y/N] questioned, tilting her head a little.
"Well-" he slightly raised his eyebrows and grabbed [Y/N]'s hand, "I thought that's why we came to my bedroom?"
"Obi Wan..." [Y/N] said sternly with a small smile. "Teach me."
He grabbed another chair and sat in front of her. As he guided her through words and different motions of her hands.
"You must focus on your feelings,” Obi Wan said softly and he was close to her ear.
She searched her feelings and felt various of different emotions. Although, these emotions weren't of [Y/N]’s. But, if they weren't [Y/N]’s then who's were they?
Obi Wan felt a struggle in the force as [Y/N] searched for answers. What was she looking for. What answers could [Y/N] want?
[Y/N] opened her eyes and she looked at Obi Wan who was fairly taken by the questions she was seeking answers for.
"Obi Wan," she frowned, “why didn't you tell me who my father was?" Obi Wan chose to stay quiet.
"I realize it now, it all makes sense"
"[Y/N] before you grow furious, I want you to know why the Jedi Council asked me to do this..." he tried walking towards her but she took a step back.
In a furious manner she continued to talk, “Did you even love me?" [Y/N] asked. Obi Wan quickly sensed the anger coming from her.
"Don't let your anger cloud your judgement."
You continued, “This was all a set up. Thanks to your teaching I now know my ancestry. Not only that, but I know the future I can bring upon the Jedi."
“[Y/N], think about it. The Jedi have allowed you here knowing your parentage they have allowed you to stay with me. We have cared for you. But now you want to turn because I didn't tell you who your father was?" Obi Wan was trying to reason with her, but she was already too mad.
"I also have a brother" she said turning around.
"[Y/N] please. Let me help you."
[Y/N] quickly turned around using the force to grab Obi Wan's lightsaber, "I will come back for you." She ran with the lightsaber to the Jedi Temple.
When she finally arrived, the near by Jedi senced something odd. Some even noticed the lightsaber she held.
[Y/N] ran to find the Jedi Council. Running through crowds angry. Had the Jedi told her before, maybe she wouldn't be so outraged.
Finally she reached the doors and pushed them open quickly with the force and the Jedi Council looked at her rudely for interrupting their meeting.
"That's Obi Wan's lightsaber. What have you done?" Anikan asked standing up.
Yoda sensed that she already knew the truth.
"I think I'm losing my mind." [Y/N] spoke.
"Have his lightsaber" she threw it on the floor harshly, "I'm going to coming back one day."
25 years later....
"The scavenger" [Y/N] said plainly as she walked into his white room.
"What do you want me to do with her?"
"Bring her to me, it's time I finally get to see what she's become."
Kylo Ren left the room and he was prepared.
[Y/N] stood in a huge empty room. Its interior was white and there crept a thick feeling of emotion.
The sliding doors opened and revealed Kylo and a girl who's clothes were tan.
"Who are you?" She looked at your back as you faced to other direction.
There was a pause. Evey second seemed like waiting for a death star to explode.
"Bring him, Ren" you demanded as he left the room.
You slowly turned around revealing yourself to Rey. She was shocked that you didn't seem very 'evil.'
"Did you ever wonder why your parents cared so little of you?" [Y/N] smiled slightly.
Rey grew angry. She never wanted to believe that she was sold for drinking money. Although, some days she believed it just a little.
"You know nothing of me,” Rey spoke aggressively.
"No?"
Kylo had come back only to see a very, very old man that he threw to the ground. [Y/N] walked to him and kneeled. She placed a hand on his head to heal him just enough to keep him alive and conscious. Then, [Y/N] whispered very closely to his ear.
"I told you...” she grabbed his arm harshly and squeezed it as he grunted in pain, "I'd come back for you."
"What do you want from me?" Rey suddenly spoke.
"Its very unfortunate that I was never able to meet you when you were born but here we are, now" [Y/N] said as she turned to Rey.
"Did you know my parents?" She frowned, she held angony in her tone.
"Child, I was the person who hired Ochi to kill your parents."
She yelled in anger. Rey ignited her lightsaber and ran towards [Y/N]. Rey was quickly stopped as she froze completely in front of [Y/N].
[Y/N] reached out to take her lightsaber and deactivated it.
"It was hard to kill the brother who left me. He left me because a man named Obi Wan showed him a force vision of this exact moment." The more [Y/N] spoke, the more things seemed shocking, but interesting.
[Y/N] turned to Obi Wan. "This would've never happened if you had only told me." Taking off her lightsaber from her hilt she ignited the red blade. It stood out so much from the white in the room. As she rose up the blade in front of the old man's body, Rey had suddenly broke free only to be shocked intensely by a man in a hood.
"Father," [Y/N] said almost happily.
Rey gained her vision and saw a old man in black robes and hood.
"Grandchild, why have you forsaken me?" He croaked.
"I never had anyone to leave," Rey stammered.
"Yes, after your parents were killed you were supposed to come to us, but you were no where to be found. Until now."
"Daughter, are you to kill this wit?" Palpatine pointed to Obi Wan.
"No. He must see what he caused," [Y/N] looked deadly at him.
"If you are my father's sister, how do you look so young?" Rey asked.
"I've used the force in my favor to heal myself and erase flaws of aging," you stated confidently.
"Are you going to kill me?" Rey asked.
Such a stupid thing to ask.
"Join us...” Palpatine offered.
"...or die." [Y/N] stated.
Annoyed from the angony of the answer, [Y/N] rolled her eyes and ignited her lightsaber. She pointed it directly at her face and Rey could feel the scorching heat on her face.
The sliding doors opened and there stood a man.
"Its stunning what influencers can make you do,” the man said softly.
"[Y/N] Abnus Palpatine"
[Y/N] dropped her saber as she turned slowly.
Brother?
"Impossible! You died!" She shouted almost, in fear.
"I survived, but my wife didn't...” he walked slowly towards [Y/N].
"If you kill him, you will be set free," he pointed to Palpatine.
"I am free!" [Y/N] quickly said back.
"No, don't you see? You suddenly grew hatred that you have never committed until the second you found out he was our father. When you searched for him in the force he found your soul and he put his power in you. You are only here to do his bidding." [Y/N]’s brother stated.
It was very intense, and hard to take in. She thought about everything he said, and it made sense. Her eyes slowly trailed down to Obi Wan who's eyes were full of tears and sadness. You could feel his heart and it nearly shattered [Y/N].
"Foolish child! You were going to be my greatest achievement!" Palpatine shouted.
[Y/N] frowned and tilted her head.
"If I was, then why is Rey here?" [Y/N] questioned.
The room feel dead silent. The truth was out.
Palpatine rose his hand but before he could send a sliver of lightning, [Y/N] used the force to grab her lightsaber and ignited it as it clashed with the lightning.
[Y/N] was full of anger. She had been manipulated from the very beginning. And no one had a single idea of it.
Using the force, she stuck out her left hand and choked him as she used the lightsaber to deflect the lightning back to him.
Everyone watched in astonishment. They have never seen such power before.
[Y/N] yelled in pain as she blew the last strike of voltage to him and he turned to ash.
She panted from the exhaustion. [Y/N] looked to Obi Wan and felt the light in her return. She ran to him and held in him his arms and cried uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry please! I'm sorry!" She cried as she put her hand on his head. [Y/N] leaned forward and kissed his forehead.
"I'm sorry,” she kept whispering. She closed her eyes as she focused.
Within seconds he returned to the form in which she last saw him in. Their age looked the same from many many years ago.
[Y/N] smiled widely and hugged Obi Wan tightly. He hugged her back and he whispered, "I will always love you." He could feel her smile against him.
Then, her arms around him loosened and Obi Wan was left with a body and the wish that he had never been healed.

STEVE ROGERS IMAGINE: ❤❤
You were Tony's sister. He was your elder brother, your bestfriend and your father figure. He surely was your elder brother but protected you. Parents passed away early. We did not blamed anyone but we loved everyone. He was upset but he overcame it. Today was Tony's Wedding with Pepper and you were currently dressing up. Tony has choosen Rhodey to be his best man. And the flower girl is obviously Lila, Clint's daughter. You had a crush on Steve since you guys met. He is A complete gentlemen. The respect trait of guys attracts you.
He made you fall in love with himself. So here you were dressing up for your brother's wedding.
Knock
"Yes?" You asked
"Its me? Your only brother and the handsome one" he said
"Get in Tony!" He came in and was ready. Next to him was Steve and Rhodey. Your heart fluttered when you saw Steve. The girls were getting ready in another room and you were just picking your stuff and heading to the room. They called you there.
"Tony, you look amazing! You look like dad" your voice cracked. You missed your father but Tony was there
Your eyes started to water.
"I'm sorry but you really look like Daddy from his wedding pictures" you said
"Aww plz don't cry" Tony hugged you.
"Excuse me! What was the thing you came here for? I have to get ready." I asked
Tony looked away
"What's wrong? TONY? RHODEY? STEVE ANYONE? " you asked
"He wants you to be there with him next to him." Steve said
"Aww Tony That's so sweet of you! I didn't know you were this soft even though I almost killed you when we used to tickle fight." You teased
"Look! Rhodes and Rogers I told you she has that teasing trait too that's not only me! " Tony said
"Tony your Dad was also the same! I've met him" Steve said.
"To be honest, You scared me Bro!" you breathed
"What did you think?" Steve asked and smilled
"He wants to break the wedding." You laughed
"I would never do that! I love her okay?" Tony said
"You never know the ex playboy would come back any moment" at this everyone laughed
"Okay, Steve wanted to ask something to you so we'll leave you here okay? "Tony winked at you he knows wth!
They clossed the door and Steve looked at me
"Yes?" You asked politely.
"Will you be my date for the wedding" his eyes were clossed. He was so nervous.
"I'd love too Steve" you said and kissed his cheek. Oh how cute he looks blushing.
"Thank you so much!" He said and hugged you
"Its my pleasure" you said
"Now if you excuse me i'll get dressed for the wedding. It will take me 30 mins" you said
"Sure! You'll look gorgeous anyway" he said which made you blush.
You grabbed your stuff and left for the other room where we all should be getting ready. Pepper sat there getting ready. They all looked at your smile and smirked. They all knew you loved Steve.
"So what happened?" Nat asked
"What do you think?" You asked them
"Steve?" She asked
"Yes! He asked me if i can be his date for the wedding." You said and screamed
They all started laughing at how excited you were
You started to get ready.
"You know we should probably record these moments. We can show these to your kids." I said
I took my phone and started recording
"Pepper how are you feeling?"
"Amazing! I get to marry the man of my dreams. My love. I just can't say a single without crying. He is so good. He takes care of me and I LOVE HIM ENDLESSLY. I am nervous tho." She said wiping her tears away.
"Aww!" We all said
"Hold on we are recording that side too. I've texted Pietro for it!" Wanda said.
After i got ready I came in the room and looked at everyone who looked at me like I am the person who is getting married.
"So how am I looking?" I asked
"Amazing. Fantastic. Breathetaking." Everyone said
You held the water and started drinking
"Steve's dying and taking you home tonight!" Nat said
You chocked on it
They all laughed at you. And you blushed endlessly.
You wore a blue dress which fit you perfectly. Your hair is always curly so you decided to straight them.
Your makeup fits you perfectly and everything was perfect.
You got a call from Tony
"Hey!" You said
"You are making your date wait! Come fast" he said
"Well okay! I am just coming" I said
I then went to see Steve standing in a dark blue suit which was basically matching with mine. You smilled at him and he does to
"Hey! You look breathtaking, Y/n" he said and you blushed
"You look handsome as always Steve" you said and he held your hand and you then went to see your brother with his team members. Bucky was there too.
"Hello everyone!" I greeted still holding steve's arm
"Hey y/n! You look amazing!" Pietro says and hugs you.
"Thank you! You look wonderful too"
"Well, Really Y/n look amazing today, right Steve?" Bucky asked
Steve was red, his eyes showed many emotions some probably showed jealously because Pietro and Bucky complimented you.
"Yea she does! She is amazing everyday" Steve said
"Aww Thank you! Now excuse me i'll just see my brother for a min" i said
"Sure love, comfort him he need you." Steve said amd kissed your cheek and you blushed and left and saw your brother
"Tony!" You said and he looked at you
"You look amazing y/n I wonder how Steve is handling himself" and winked
"Stop man!" You slapped his back playfully
"How you feeling?" You asked
"Nervous! What if she dosen't want to marry me?" He asked
"Then why would she say yes to your proposal bro?" You assured
"Yea but-"
"No buts- everything is fine! She is coming and you are getting married" you said and he smilled
"Y/n? You like Cap why would you not say him? He asked
"I don't know what if he dosen't feel the same?" You said
"Why'd he ask you to be his date? Why'd he blush when you compliment or talk to him? Why'd he kiss your cheek which made you blush?" He asked and you smilled
"Can he make the first move?" You said
"He will if you go to him now. Its time for the wedding!" He said
You walked to him and stood next to him holdong his arm
"So Rogers? Enjoying the wedding?" You asked
"Yea! The arrangements are amazing." He said
"That's all because of me." You said and he chuckled
"Well yes!" He said
Pepper came. The wedding started. I saw My brother cry with Happy Tears. I saw My Dad in him. My father, Howard looked similar to him. I wiped my tears since i can't stop crying.
"Hey you okay?" Steve asked
"I just felt I saw Dad there. Tony looks so similar to him i just can't" you said and hugged him while you cried slowly not wanting to ruin your face.
"Hey! Look at me. Your dad is always next to you. Your mom too. They are watching you everywhere you get it" he said
"Mm! Thank you !" You said and he hugged you
"We now present you Mr and Mrs Stark." Everyone cheered
"We call Y/n Stark for the speech" they called you
"Hey everyone! I am here to say something for my brother and my beautiful sister in law. I can't thank you enough how you made him right. He was always right but you know an off track. I know he is very weird but he is a very good man. He helped me in highschool when he came back from abroad agter studies. When people got to know I was Tony's sister I got attention which made me nervous. He taught me how to handle it. And being a person with anxiety is hard. He helped me cope with it Okay i am probably talking too much good things about him but he is still a weirdo. Pepper, I just love how you comforted him when he needed someone. I was the happiest when I got to know he was seeing you and I was already your no. 1 fan. I am sure Mom and Dad are watching and are proud of your choice. And Pep they love you really. I am 100% sure. But anyways congratulations you guys . Love you and will always do. Today I saw Daddy in you. I saw Howard Stark in you, Anthony Stark i am not kidding. These tears are saying everything about how happy I am. I am so proud of you. I am sorry if my crying makes this wedding bad for you but I never had a chance to say them that you guys protected me like Mummy and Daddy. I am a grown up of 25 but I get sensetive sometimes. Thank you both for helping me. I love you both so much and will always do." you finished and noticed that Tony was crying and Pepper was too and Steve smilling at you.
After a while we were at the after party. It was all dance and fun
A slow song started to play and Steve came
"Y/n will you dance with me?" He asked
"I would love to" you accepted his hand
You slowly danced you both looking onto eachothers eyes. Him holding your waist and you keeping your hand on his chest and one on his neck
You just wanted to kiss him. You were too busy to notice that everyone was starring at how amazing you both were. After the song ended everyone clapped and you blushed and burried your head in his chest and he chuckled.
Soom we were off the stage. Me and Steve just blushed seeing eachother
"Can we talk?" You both said together
"Well yes!" He said
You both looking eachother in the eyes
"Steve! I-" you tried
"Y/n i love you. I am sorry its not like but I love you. Its from the past 4 years. I just can't hold my feelings i am sorry but I love you" he said
"I love you too Steve. I always thought my feelings weren't mutual but yes I love you-" you were cut off by him kissing you.
Slow and sweet all with sparks just like how you imagined
You both looked at eachother and smilled and he said
"Will you be my girl?" He asked
"I will be your girl!" You said and kissed him
Silently everyone saw this and cheered and you both blushed
