Attempted some sketches of the 90's YJ crew in my own style! With our favorite Impulse and his two coincidentally blonde (well, most of the time for Cassie) and double "S" named BFF's, Cissie and Cassie! Lowkey love the 90's style on them. They look WAY cool haha. And you gotta adore solid rep for platonic friendships between guys and gals where they can be close physically but it doesn't necessarily have to be romantic🙏 (And, yes, I made the glasses reflective so I wouldn't have to draw his eyes because they are HARD, don't JUDGE me XD)

As much as I love 90’s YJ, I really don’t think we’re ever going to get what we had then again. For each specific character either. I just- I know I was excited for new YJ stuff at an earlier point in the year, but it faded. And honestly with the fading of that excitement, and finally seeing the previews for the new stuff, I just find myself with that realization. And I dunno. Maybe I should ignore my disappointment and get the thing anyway, so we can have more YJ stuff in the future, so that there’s a higher possibility that we’ll eventually get a writer who cares about all of the original YJ team - including Anita, Greta, and Slobo. Especially Anita honestly because she wanted to be a hero. It would make sense for her to be one again. For her to be a part of YJ again. - Like I said, I don't know. I just don’t think we’ll get anything worthwhile anytime soon. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong. I’d be happy to be proven wrong.

i think a big reason x-men tas was so good is like, they're all adults! jubilee is probs a teen but within a few episodes you just get all this angsty adult drama about logan running off bc unrequited jean feels or the lifelong tumultuous homoerotic relationship of xavier and magneto etc instead of having to pretend you care about a bunch of teenagers dealing with awkward first kiss bullshit

#xm tag #like even as a kid i just ALWAYS cared so much more abt the adult characters and yeah there's a lot wrong with me but #to get a kid-targeted cartoon that's actually focused on adults instead is SO nice #and like obvs yeah if ur looking at superhero cartoons - young justice and teen titans? chefs kiss #but x-men evo just didn't hit the same as tas did for me #i think as well - and i talk abt this a lot when it comes to 90's queer subtext - the restrictions of it #being a kid-targeted show almost makes things feel more natural #bc they cant just show the adults sucking and fucking after 2 minutes of forced tension #they Have to give us subtleties and it just appeals to me a lot more bc it all feels a lot more natural #anyway i will also acknowledge the execution of this show can be very awkward lmaooo but i think like #it's not that hard to get what i mean #i THInk my order of preference looking back for the ones i watched was tas > wolverine and the xmen > evo #and i watched a bunch of avengers cartoons as well with similar effect #OH AND ALSO villains tend to be adults even when the mains are kids which is... another fun thing to latch onto lol
