Deep in my feels about Alive!Verse Orin and Audrey and their weird potential as exes who have to keep interacting with each other because I've decided Jason still exists in this AU, and Orin wants to be involved in his son's life, and Audrey is tentatively okay with this as long as Orin is kept on a short leash and is not allowed in her home. There's just so much meat there. Also the idea of Orin finally taking time to deal with his shit after almost dying and being dumped for the guy who only decided not to let him die at the last second. He's reading self help books and maybe going to a lil therapy and trying to figure out what kind of a dad he wants to be but also he's not the one who's "dad" to Jason most of the time and he feels more like an uncle to his own kid. And he's reconnecting with some old friends maybe since he knows he really can't rely on Audrey and her family for support since he knows he fucked up bad with her and just hopes to at least come to a truce at some point. And who knows? Maybe eventually he'll be allowed to go in the house but he's on thin ice and Audrey let's him know it which like, totally very fair. But it's a work in progress and they have so much history and a kid so they can never totally divorce themselves from each other even though they both understand they are never going to be a thing again. And Jason is just excited to have twice the amount of dads, one of which is very invested to making sure he sees him as fun and a positive presence.

HEIST HEIST HEIST
I saw this post today and got inspired, SO here is Descendants Could Have Been A Heist Movie, thebluestbluewords take :
(this is very much an outline and not a full fic yet, but I might yet write this someday)
Taking this whole heist movie idea very seriously, this would be (and might yet be if I have the time for it) a fic about how the first Descendants movie would have gone if it had been a heist movie, rather than a fairytale.
The main plot of the movie is no longer about learning to choose good and seeing that kids don’t have to follow in the footsteps of their parents- it’s now a high school political intrigue about stealing a wand.
(don’t worry about the larger themes there- the wand might be stolen for many self-serving reasons that go beyond 'doing what their parents say'. Maybe they’re stealing it to make a larger statement about opening the isle. Or about how treating villains as villains is wrong and they deserve trust because it makes things so much more fun for them in the long run)
(can you tell I haven’t decided on the overall tone of this AU yet lmao)
The story starts when the VKs are being told to get the wand, hand it over, it’ll be easy.
Sure, they say.
Sounds great, they say.
Give us your spellbook and magic mirror and whatever else you’ve got to give, and we absolutely won’t use them to betray you and open the isle on our own terms, they don’t say.
(this story ends before we get to that point, but the implication is there)
The kids arrive in Auradon, as in canon.
Unlike canon, they don’t immediately go for a break-and-enter approach to the museum, because if they’re going to heist this, they’re going to do it right. A good heist takes planning, and patience, and research.
What they do is wait until the weekend, and then inform the school admin that they want to get to know the culture of Auradon.
The museum seems like a great place to start, Evie says earnestly.
We didn’t have anything like it back on the Isle, adds Mal. It would be such a good learning opportunity for us.
And we could see the town. And the candy store. Say the boys.
The school admin caves, because it would be wrong to deny these kids a chance to get to know this history of goodness! They’re just teenagers, and they’ve been doing so well with their first week, and of course they can go into town, do they want a school car to drop them off?
They do not.
The museum is kind of a bust. They spend some time scoping out the security, but they’ve had a whole week to magically-google everything they can about this place, and it’s not much of a surprise that there’s a functionally unbreakable magical alarm system set up around all of the objects.
Time to reassess the plan.
(this is where the political intrigue comes in)
Ben is still a Fundamentally Decent (if slightly boring) guy in this.
Of course, he’s also the one on the line if this whole villainy exchange program goes wrong. It shouldn’t be a surprise that he would come to check up on his flagship students after they have a day out exploring the town.
Oho, Mal thinks. Here’s something they can work with.
Ben is sweet. He’s not terribly interesting, at least at first, but he seems like a guy who genuinely cares about the idea of bringing villain kids over, and can probably be manipulated to their purposes without too much effort.
So the VKs think over their potential plans to get the wand, and decide that yeah, if they can get an in with the future king of Auradon, that’s probably a pretty solid place to start.
Unfortunately, they decide to start this attempt by blatantly flirting.
Audrey is very much a political presence in this fic. She’s not evil by any means, but she is goal oriented and doesn’t necessarily love the idea of VKs coming in and altering her five year plan for herself and her boyfriend.
(I think Aurdey is an interesting character, and I wish she’d been given some better motivations in the first movie beyond ‘mean girl in a high school movie’. So in this fic, where they do still crown the incoming royalty at sixteen, they also believe in setting up children for advantageous marriages. Audrey and Ben have been pushed at each other since they were kids, and yeah, maybe there’s not a lot of actual love between them, but they’re friends and it’s way easier to just date each other and make their parents happy than refuse and risk losing the sway they get with their parents by being the good little obedient golden children who are happy to be put together if it’s what’s best for the future of the realm.)
The point of this is, the VKs send Mal in with her very best flirting, taught to her by Evie in a truly hopeless training montage, and it just-
Fails. Completely.
And now Audrey sort of hates them.
Great.
The other unfortunate piece of this heist is that the relationships between the co-conspirators, the core four, are….somewhat intense. Charged, if you will, with a certain kind of tension.
I’m not saying that Malvie hook up in their pink princess dorm room on the first night and then don’t talk about it for the rest of the story despite blatantly flirting with each other all the time, but yeah actually that might be what I’m saying.
This is the middle of the fic now, and there’s some kind of political drama that leads to the VKs finding out about the coronation.
Maybe it’s teammate bonding, because I think it’s tragically underutilized that Ben and Jay are canonically both sports bros and I want more of that sweet high school sports team drama content.
The point is, they find out about the coronation, and that the wand will be out and about during that day.
Oho, they say. An opportunity.
Building on the sports bros theme, Lonnie gets to be in this story! She’s a cool character and I have a couple of unfinished ideas for her kicking around my fic drive, so she’s going to be here too.
Lonnie finds the VKs in a somewhat compromising state of planning.
Uh, what the fuck is this, she says.
What do you THINK, says Mal, who is not known for keeping her mouth shut.
Looks like...some kind of statement that you’re going to make during the coronation, says Lonnie, who is a nice person and also didn’t hear/see all that much of the planning before she was noticed. (as I’m typing this up I am also remembering the School of Secrets shorts?? Lonnie is absolutely going in this fic as someone who spies on her new friends. It’s almost like canon. She’s the daughter of Mulan. She can sneak when she wants to)
Yes. Exactly. A peaceful political statement, says Evie, who is often a quicker thinker than the others. We are going to… sit at the front in protest. Of how we have been treated. As villains. We deserve the same respect as other students, regardless of who our parents are.
Lonnie is surprisingly on board with this, because honestly, based on some of her costume choices in d1, magical disney utopias seem to be overwhelmingly white for the most part and do not know how to support their international students very well.
(am I still mad about the awful dress she was wearing during the family day scene?? yes.)
So now they have Lonnie on board with their made-up protest plan, and they’ve got Ben and Jay being… actually bros, weirdly enough, and somehow there’s got to be high school political intrigue that I haven’t thought through yet (maybe a group who doesn’t approve of the villainy exchange program is trying to get Ben declared unfit?? Idk. Maybe it’s just different mini kingdoms angling for a good position, and it matters Very Deeply who sits where at the coronation and it’s a whole deal. That one probably works a bit better.) and it’s altogether getting Pretty Far Into Things.
Family day isn’t a big conflict in this AU, because the VKs don’t really care about the whole family gathering and party business without Mal being involved with Ben. They decide to have a chill time hanging out and plotting their heist instead. The wand is going to be taken out before the coronation, but rather than try and grab it in the middle of things, it’s got to be easier to grab it right before or after, while it’s in transport.
They have multiple people who can pick locks. People who can charm guards into letting their guard down for a bit. Ways of getting around even electronic lock systems, given some time.
They hang around the classroom a bit longer after their parent phone call, and get to talking with Fairy Godmother about how maybe, possibly, they could get a real place up at the front during the coronation. It’s a good distraction, and hearing more about the logistics of how things are going to go on the day itself is a perfect segue into asking more about the objects that are used during the coronation. It’s important to understand their new home! No other reason they’d want to know about the history and powers of her wand.
No other reason at all.
They learn that the wand is going into secure storage in Fairy Godmother’s office for the day before the ceremony. Of course, it’s going to be safe enough there. The magical wards at the museum are mostly there in case of emergency, and they’re really more about making sure none of the objects get damaged than they are about theft.
There are no more villains in Auradon, after all.
All things considered, it’s shockingly easy to break into Fairy Godmother’s office the night before the coronation. The wand is in a safe with some magic barriers around it, but Mal has her mother’s spellbook, and Evie has a magic mirror that can look up the answer to pretty much anything they ask, so it’s short work for a pair of magic users who have been practicing their spellwork since they day they left the isle to break the temporary barriers down.
There’s a regular human lock as well, and they give that one to Jay. He’s their lockpicking expert, after all.
And there it is.
Mal grabs the wand. There’s a surge of magical energy up through her hand, burning everywhere she’s touching the silvery metal, but in a way that feels like strength.
And all hell breaks loose.

Ok, so I remember Dragon coming up with a Chloe DP au, and for some reason that combined in my head with your post about Vlad and the rich kids and the S4 spoilers so... imagine Chloe at Vlad’s party during a ghost attack, feeling depressed and useless and generally just thinking about being replaced. somehow she ends up in Vlad’s lair, self reflecting in front of the portal when it gets hit by a power surge. Most of the class just sees her being carried out to the ambulance, but 2 know better
Me: “I need to work on all my other fics.”
Also me: “Time to work on several pages of Chloé half dying!!! And another bootleg version of one of Dragon’s AUs!”
Vlad and Danny are on kinda friendly terms in this mostly because I wanted to write them snarking at each other.
Chloé was glad to get out of Paris for a while. A decision her father had made after, well. Certain incidents. Making her feel unsafe in Paris. So she was sent away to a place without Hawkmoth or Akumas.
Smoothing out the skirt of her pale yellow, nearly white, dress, she contemplated the place she ended up.
She would have been prepared for New York. But of course Audrey said she was too "Unexceptional" yet. But as Audrey had to go on a business trip to meet other rich business people at some fancy party, Chloé's dad convinced her to take her to this place.
Not that business parties full of other rich people were something she really wanted to deal with. They were usually too condescending at best. A few of them could be creepy. Giving her looks that made her want to take a shower for a year.
It was almost enough to make her want to stay in Paris. But the one thing that made her decide it wouldn't be too bad was who was hosting the party.
Don't get her wrong. Vlad Masters definitely gave off some strange and downright intimidating vibes. But the few times Chloé had met him at events like this, he was one of the few adults who seemed to respect her, despite her age. And he only used his threatening vibes on any of the other men looking at her.
That said, Chloé wasn't expecting much conversation with Vlad. They didn't usually talk much anyway, just polite conversation common at these things. And as Audrey was currently attempting to engage with him, almost as if she were blocking Chloé from getting near, it was unlikely she would.
"If you're going to commit a murder could you wait another twenty minutes? I have a bet going."
Chloé jumped, realizing someone was speaking to her. When she found who, her initial instinct was to glare. Blue eyes and black hair making her think of someone else.
However, as she took in the rest of the context, she found someone new. And male. A boy about her age.
"Who are you?" Chloé asked.
"Head of security," the boy said.
It was obviously a joke, from his tone and lopsided grin. And Chloé almost laughed at the idea of a teenager being any kind of security.
But she noticed the way he stood, the way he analyzed her. It reminded her of Adrien, in a way. Seemingly all smiles and laid back, but far more capable than he looks.
There was something else about him too. It actually reminded her of Vlad. The general vibes he gave off. But Vlad felt more… firey. Heat under his skin, waiting for the temper to snap. This boy felt more cold. Not emotionally, but like a snowfall that could quickly engulf you in a blizzard.
"I think a name would be better," Chloé said.
"Call me Danny then," the boy said, offering a hand.
"Chloé Bourgeois," she replied, politely taking it. "So, judging by the fact that you didn't give me your last name, you don't want me guessing who you're connected to."
"You probably wouldn't know them," he said. "My family's known for their studies on the paranormal. They're scientists. And not really the kind for this kind of party."
"But you are?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Absolutely not," he said. "But hey. Vlad's trying to buy his way to an apology by giving me money if I hang out and make sure nothing spooks the guests. Other than him, of course. Might as well put it in my college fund. So, you actually planning a murder or not?"
That almost made her laugh. A small smile on her face, Chloé's gaze drifted across the room to her mother.
"No murder yet," Chloé said. "If I do kill someone, it'll be the local supervillain back in Paris."
"Heard something about that," Danny said. "My parents keep debating on checking it out. It's obviously paranormal and magical, but they specialize in Ghosts."
"Are they the Ghostbusters?" She did actually laugh at that one.
"Something like that," he chuckled.
All of a sudden, Danny stiffened up. It had to be a trick of the light, but she could've sworn a mist came out of his mouth. He frowned, looking around carefully.
"Sorry, I have to go," Danny said. "A disturbance in the garden. See you around."
"Yeah, see you," Chloé sighed.
As he ran off through the crowd, Chloé wondered how he knew about the "disturbance". Maybe he was actually part of the security team and had an earpiece in?
Brushing the thought off, Chloé grabbed a drink from a passing waiter. Then she headed the opposite direction.
She wanted some time alone. It had been nice, talking to Danny. But the party was still overwhelming. She might be out of Paris, which meant less stares and whispers. But still too much interaction for her liking lately.
Chloé headed out of the main ballroom. Few paid attention to her. Those that did were quickly dragged back to their conversations.
As she wandered the halls, Chloé wondered if she could get lost in here. If her mother would notice. Maybe she could just. Not go home and just secretly live in Vlad's mansion.
A tempting idea, if she could figure out how to do it. But for now, she settled for exploring.
There was a library. Very nice. Bookshelves along every wall, except for a spot for a fireplace. Comfortable chairs and a couch to read on.
She looked through the bookshelves. It seemed well stocked, despite the impossibility of ever reading them all. Most were nonfiction, texts on various subjects. A few seemed to be typical fiction, though Chloé didn't inspect those too close lest she judge Vlad's collection of trashy romance novels.
What intrigued her was one large shelf, right across from the fireplace. These books actually looked well-used. Texts on the paranormal. Hadn't Danny said something about that? Between this and the familiarity with Vlad, perhaps it was a family-friend situation.
Dragging a finger along the spines of the books, she picked one at random. Pure curiosity more than actual interest.
The book was soon dropped and forgotten when the shelf slid open to reveal a doorway.
Now that had her curious and interested.
A look over her shoulder at the door, and Chloé was in the new room. No, a new hall of stairs. Descending down stone steps.
She was suddenly worried she would find some sort of kinky dungeon type place. Perhaps she should quit while she was ahead.
It was the buzzing in her fingertips that made the decision for her. Something… familiar.
It wasn't like the buzzing she felt near an Akuma, or near someone using a Miraculous. No, this felt more like Vlad. Like Danny. Whatever she was feeling from them, there was more of it down here.
Eventually the stairway opened to a room. It looked like a laboratory of some kind. Weapons and tools of shiny metal and magenta accents lined the walls. There were a few that traded magenta for green, but not as if two people consistently shared a space. More like one occasionally left objects behind.
The one thing in the room that was overwhelmingly green and not magenta was against one wall.
It almost looked like a doorway of sorts. Or a Magic Portal, really. Swirls of green that she couldn't see into. And if she hadn't spent the last year and a half being attacked by Magical Supervillains and becoming a Hero herself, she would've assumed it was just a large tv screen embedded in the wall for aesthetics.
The reminder of her time as a Hero brought back some bitter memories.
She might not have been the best person, but she was a good Hero. Chloé would have gladly continued being Queen Bee, despite the risks, because she had felt like she finally found a purpose. But Ladybug told her no, she couldn't have the Miraculous anymore. For her safety of course.
What a joke. Not only had Chloé been in more danger without it, as there was no way she could defend herself against Hawkmoth. But the other Heroes were still active, even with their identities known.
With a sigh, Chloé attempted to distract herself. Walking around the room and investigating the weapons around the lab. They were strange. She wasn't a gun expert, but these didn't look normal. Not regular guns that shoot bullets.
Were they alien weaponry? That didn't seem right. Chloé wasn't an expert, having never met an alien(as far as she was aware). But the weapons seemed very based on Earth designs, their sizes intended for average Human use. Maybe weapons for Humans to use on nonhumam creatures.
Whatever it was, Chloé was now a bit curious. What did Vlad get up to when he wasn't hosting business parties like this? Did he perhaps moonlight as a superhero? With that Danny kid as the Robin to his Batman? Perhaps she should stay. Be the Jason Todd of the family. Though with less dying.
She almost laughed at the idea. But as a crack of thunder rang through the mansion, loud enough to be heard from this basement laboratory, she jumped, instinctively spinning around to look for an attack.
A second crack of thunder, and all the lights went dark.
Chloé was not afraid of the dark. She never had been, even as a child.
But she was afraid now. Because this wasn't a normal blackout. In a mansion like this, there would be emergency generators. They didn't kick in, which meant this was likely something else.
Amity Park was different from Paris. No Hawkmoth. No Akumas. But that didn't mean there was no danger.
And the thing Chloé had become afraid of, after so many Akuma attacks and even Hawkmoth himself coming to her home, her room, and confronting her. The thing she was afraid of was being unable to fight back.
Her breath began to quicken, the only noise she could hear in the dark room. Heart hammering in her chest, Chloé tried to calm herself down. This wasn't Paris. Whoever or whatever it was wasn't after her.
But what if it was? What if this person had decided she would make a good target? What if Hawkmoth had followed her, hoping to get revenge for failing him as Miracle Queen? What if it was someone else, furious about what she had involuntarily done, knowing that if something happened here, Ladybug's Miraculous Cure would be too late?
Hands trembling, Chloé remembered the weapons on the wall. It wasn't her Miraculous, but it was something. She refused to go down without a fight.
The only problem was that, in her panic, she had gotten turned around she couldn't remember which was she was facing.
Blindly choosing a direction, Chloé kept a hand out in front of her, slowly moving it back and forth hoping she'd hit a wall. Her ragged breathing and the click of her heels on the floor being the only sounds. A good sign, she hoped.
Her hand hit something. A wall, she thought. Somewhere to her left. Keeping her hand flat against it, she hoped to follow it until she found the weapon rack again.
She kept walking, barely noting how the sound of her footsteps changed from heels-on-tile to heels-on-metal. Had the floor been metal? She couldn't remember. The stairs up had been stone so obviously she was still in the lab.
The lights suddenly came back on, the blackout over. Yet Chloé wasn't nearly as blinded as she should have been by the sudden brightness. It was coming from behind her. Had she somehow found a different hallway out of the lab?
As she turned to head back to something familiar, a different brightness flickered on. But she was completely unaware, as all she could focus on was pain.
Burning, crackling under her skin. Through every inch of her. Worse than anything she had ever felt, as Civilian, Hero, or Akuma.
The pain began to subside. Not going away, but no longer the intense agony. Just an ache, but as if she had run a marathon around Paris without being transformed. Her throat still burned the worst though. Had she been screaming? She couldn't remember doing so, but it seemed likely given the pain.
Stumbling forward, she managed to find herself back in the lab. Yet her vision was blurry. So blurry, in fact, that when she looked down her white dress appeared black.
The pain and exhaustion was too much for her. Pitching forward, everything went dark again.
--------
The next thing Chloé knew, she was somewhere soft. Everything still hurt, which made her not want to move. But she could hear two male voices arguing.
"You should let me explain it to her."
"You will confuse and scare her with your morbid humor."
"And you'll just freak her out!"
"I have more experience in this."
"Not in explaining it!"
"I explained it to Danielle."
"And I explained it to everyone else because you had to be a fruitloop!"
"Are you still using that insult?"
"It still fits."
Registering that she should probably see what's goin on, Chloé went to get up.
Her right arm must've slipped off whatever she was laying on, as she almost immediately slammed back down. The feeling that had her jolting upright instead of trying again to be slow, was that it felt like something hit the inside of her arm?!
Inspecting the limb, she didn't find anything wrong with it. It was there. No burns or bruises. The worst thing was a chipped manicure.
As her gaze went further up her arm to her shoulder, she noticed something. A discoloration in her skin. It was hard to see, having to look nearly straight down and only being able to see what skin was showing. But there were thin lines across her shoulders and chest. She couldn't tell how far they went up her neck, or how much further they extended under her dress.
The lines looked almost like lightning. It was then that she remembered the lab. The pain. But she swallowed down her fear.
"Well say goodbye to swimsuit season," Chloé muttered, her voice still a little shaky and her throat still raw.
"Perhaps your humor will be helpful after all," one of the voices from earlier mused.
Chloé jumped, having completely forgot that there were people in the room. One was Vlad, the other was the "head of security" kid. Danny, wasn't it?
"What happened?" Chloé asked.
"You received quite a shock," Vlad replied.
"Oh, and my humor is too much for her," Danny glared.
"Kind of used to puns in horrifying situations," Chloé said. "One of my best friends loves making puns to deflect dealing with things."
And okay yes she also did that. But she was not going to tell them that. Even if the looks they gave each other probably meant they guessed as much.
"Where am I?" Chloé asked, looking around.
"One of the guest rooms," Vlad explained.
"Not a hospital?" She asked.
"A hospital isn't quite equipped to handle… this," he said.
"One of the guests was a doctor who did a general checkup," Danny said. "She was sure you probably just fainted from low blood sugar or something."
"And… and my mother?" Chloé asked.
"She is back at her hotel," Vlad said, visibly bristling. "I may not be father of the year, but her lack of concern is appalling."
The exasperated look Danny gave him said there was a long story there. Chloé wasn't sure she wanted to hear it right now.
"So why would a hospital be bad?" Chloé asked instead.
"That is quite a story," Vlad said. "Do you know what you were messing with in the laboratory?"
"I know it had weapons," she said. "Then the lights went out and I tried to find my way around."
"I think that makes her smarter than both of us," Danny said.
"I didn't enter an unstable device on a dare," Vlad glared. “I knew what I was doing.”
"You stuck your face right up to a prototype device not knowing if it was stable or not," he retorted. "You're lucky you only half died.".
Vlad glared at him again. Chloé could have sworn he man's eyes flashed red. It was more than just a trick of the light.
He said a hospital wasn't a good situation for her now. He implied that he'd had something similar happen to him. And those books on the paranormal, leading to a lab…
Vlad wasn't Human. At least not anymore. Danny wasn't either, most likely. And Chloé realized, with mounting horror, that she probably wasn't either.
Once more she focused on her hands. What… was she now? Chloé flipped through her knowledge of the paranormal. It couldn't be a Vampire or Werewolf. She didn't get bit or infected with anything. Most other creatures she could remember Humans becoming had very specific circumstances or longer processes.
Then, she recalled something Danny had said. His family deals with Ghosts.
As if to confirm her suspicions, her hands flickered out of existence. An involuntary whimper escaping her throat.
"I… I'm dead, aren't I?" Chloé asked.
"Only half way," Danny said.
"That is nowhere as reassuring as you think it is," Vlad said.
This time it was Danny's turn to glare. But his eyes flashed a green color instead of red.
Meanwhile, Chloé was having a crisis. She died. She fucking died. But she was still here.
She was vaguely aware of their voices. Both males had come closer, sitting beside her on the bed. She knew one, or maybe both of them, was telling her to breathe. To focus.
She tried to focus on how strange it was, sitting between them. One burning, one freezing. Was that related to… This?
It helped ground her. Remind her that she wasn't alone.
"That's right," Danny said. "You're not alone in this. Which is already better than what we got."
"You could have had a mentor," Vlad said.
"But you were still evil back then," he smirked.
Oh boy oh boy. This was going to get oh so complicated.

I Don’t Own an IPhone: Wanna Trade? 4
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Previous: “Lila must have been akumatized again,” Nino said getting up and dragging Jon out of the store.“Let’s fix this,” Adrien said to Alya and Chloe who rolled their eyes.“Don’t think we didn’t see the way you were staring Jon up and down, it wasn’t cute,” Alya said as Trixx came out of her jacket.“Seriously Adriekins, do you even know what you want?” Chloe asked putting her comb in her hair.“Women,” Adrien sighed. “Plagg claws out!”
AHHHHHHH this was supposed to come out yesterday but I forgot to que it!
Chapter 4: Turtles and Dinner Dates
Pollinator and Hoodwink glared at Chat as they jumped through the city chasing after the akumatized Lila.
Jon watched in bewilderment  as Nino’s hand tightened on his wrist dragging him through back alleyways in the opposite direction. “Nino, where are we going? Alya, Chloe, and Adrien are still back at the cafe,” Jon asked pulling back against Nino’s grip.
“It’s better to split up during attacks trust me,” Nino said trying to come up with an excuse praying that Jon didn’t see through it.
Alya looked at the earrings in her hands sighing, she would either have to put them in now or come back later and deal with the butterfly and akumatized object in order to use the lucky charm. She could always use a mirage.
“I am Myth Weaver and I make lies become reality! Adrien Agreste will love me,” Weaver said waving a wand in the air and Chat’s eyes widened before extending his staff out to her stopping the motion.
“Don’t let her cast any more spells,” Chat said and the girls rolled their eyes.
“Yeah, we’ll try,” Hoodwink said putting in the earrings not unifying yet but casting a perfectly planned mirage.
Marinette looked at Jon’s phone sighing as a text from Jason showed up.
From Jason Todd What hotel are you staying at? B wants to have you over for dinner He didn’t think that I could make friends How rude is that?
Marinette rolled her eyes before typing back.
To Jason Todd Who’s B? And I’m staying at Wayne Suites Hotel.
Marinette tucked the phone back into her purse before looking up to see Audrey walking toward her arms open before pulling her into a hug. “Marinette darling, let me show you the ropes of business ownership. I know that if there is one designer out there who can surpass Gabriel and his dreadful white collection it’s you. Don’t tell anyone but I’m getting a bit too old for the drama and I must go back and visit my daughter at some point. This is our Jersey studio make yourself at home,” Audrey said before running over to someone and yelling at them.
“I’ll do my best,” Marinette mumbled out before reaching for the phone in her purse.
From Jason Todd B is complicated but he’s Damian’s dad and Damian is Jon’s boyfriend, remember? One would think you’d want to meet the guy you texted right? Get to know him a bit
Marinette snorted, it was like Jason was trying to set them up or something, she exited the app before thinking. This was Jon’s boyfriend and Jon was nice, she wouldn’t want him to… no wait that wouldn’t be so bad. If Jon texted Adrien as her and she texted Damian as him then maybe they could fix any problems in their relationships, or at least her problems. She reopened the app typing aggressively.
To Jason Todd Be there at five.
From Jason Todd You’re not going to regret this
“Oh yes I am,” Marinette said to herself as Audrey came back and started guiding her through the building.
Jon’s eyes widened as a huge rock came flying at him. Sure Jon was used to danger, in fact he chased is for fun but he really wasn’t expecting an akuma on his first day in Paris. He actually wasn’t expecting any of this to be honest.
“No!” Nino yelled running back toward him. “Wayzz, shell on!” Nino called out being enveloped in green and taking a shell off his back before jumping in front of Jon blocking the rock which shattered to millions of pieces on impact. Nino breathed out a sigh of relief keeled over before turning back to Jon who’s eyes were bulging out of his face.
“Oh my Rao, what are you Sailor Moon or some shit?” Jon asked gesturing to Nino freaking out.
“You can’t tell anyone, promise me you won’t tell anyone,” Nino said grabbing Jon’s shoulders shaking him viciously.
“Yeah, as long as you answer a couple of questions for me,” Jon said and Nino nodded. “Who are you? When and where are you meeting Superman?” Jon asked and Nino looked confused.
“They call me Protector and we’re meeting Superman in a day at midnight on the Eiffel Tower. How did you know we were meeting with Superman?” Protector asked.
“I’m a reporter’s son and I lived in Metropolis, it’s how I was raised, to follow Superman wherever he goes and get every bit of information out of the situation. I just wanted to get some pictures for my parents,” Jon said waving Protector’s question off easily. Suddenly ladybugs were flying around everywhere and they fixed the rock.
“Ladybug fixed everything, we should go meet back up with the others,” Nino said back in his regular clothes. Something seemed off, the others were so sure that Nino could keep him safe, Adrien’s name in Marinette’s phone is chaton, there’s four friends who all look somewhat similar to the heroes. Jon smirked to himself, he found the heroes of Paris and now he would be able to see Paris’ situation from a whole new angle.
Marinette stood outside her hotel in a black dress with pink flowers crawling along the hem, hair pulled into a half ponytail, pink high heels, and a white purse with a trick pocket phone tucked in carefully along with the mouse miraculous. A fancy car pulled up in front of her and the window was lowered and Jason called out to her.
Marinette was terrified, she had figured out earlier that she would be dining with the batfamily from photos on Jon’s phone and Damian being Robin and Jon being Superboy. She also knew that she was in a car with a murderer but if anything bad happened she always had her training and Mullo up her sleeve, she would be able to shock him enough to get out of any bad situation. Jason did seem harmless enough though and she had read up on the news and it seemed that Red Hood had turned over a new leaf.
“We’re here,” Jason said rousing her from her thoughts as he opened his door walking around the car to open hers helping her out. She looked up and her eyes widened at the house, no manor, in front of her.
“You live here?” Marinette asked. The place was bigger than Gabriel’s.
“Yup, now come on we have dinner to get to,” Jason said smiling walking up the front steps and Marinette quickly followed.
Damian was not thrilled about the family dinner that was called this morning. Jason seemed insistent that the whole family meet his new friend. He just wanted the whole thing to be over so he could talk to Jon, hopefully his beloved would be up by then. He had to fight the Joker the previous night and couldn’t text him back but he didn’t want Jon to be worried or anything, he hoped the younger wasn’t mad at him.
Damian adjusted his shirt thinking, Jason had made a friend, a friend who he thought was worth the family dinner treatment. She couldn’t be his girlfriend, Jason never said he broke up with Roy so who was this girl? Damian shook his head before walking down the stairs and saw Jason and his friend, she was too good for Jason and Jason was in no way worth her time.
Marinette stared at the boy before her, this was Damian? She felt guilt crawl through her chest. He’s in a relationship, he’s in a relationship, he’s in a… holy shit he’s hotter in person. Marinette couldn’t help but admire him for a moment before remembering he was a hot asshole.
Coughing roused the three from their thoughts as Alfred stood in the doorway smiling. “Dinner is almost ready,” Alfred said and Jason nodded in the direction of the dining room letting Marinette go first. She walked into the room and eight pairs of eyes settled on her.
“Welcome to Wayne Manor,” Jason said and Marinette gulped grasping her purse, just one dinner.

Dating & Politics
Aurora, Phillip, & Audrey AU
Summary: Phillip isn’t pleased about news of Ben and Mal dating. He and Aurora discuss plans to make their voices heard in Auradon, and to make sure Audrey isn’t left alone to deal with a dicey political climate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’m going to kill him,”
Glancing up from her usual place at the table, Aurora felt the walls vibrate as the front door was thrown open. Phillip’s frustration and anger wafted from his being like a raging inferno. And though normally so docile and loving, it was in these moments Aurora knew full well it was indeed her husband who had lain waste to a dragon for her.
“Something wrong, my love?” She asked innocently, setting down the magazine she had been skimming simply to pass the time.
“You bet somethings wrong,” Phillip fumed, setting to work in the kitchen for tea, “I swear, tomorrow morning I’m marching straight into Auradon with hellfire at my heels,”
“Whatever for?” Aurora asked bewilderedly, “what’s happened?”
“Ben and...and that girl are now dating,”
‘That girl’ was referring to Mal, recently arrived daughter of Maleficent. Audrey told her all about it on the phone the day the Isle Kids had arrived, and Aurora wasn’t going to say she didn’t feel a bit uneasy at the daughter of her greatest enemy in such close proximity to any of them. But news of Mal and Ben becoming a couple in less then a month?
“Well, that’s a bit surprising,” Aurora admitted with furrowed brows, watching as Phillip flopped down into the seat across from her, still fuming at the news, “but what’s it to you, love, who Ben chooses as his girlfriend? Certainly you didn’t share the same feelings as mother...”
“What, about Ben and Little Dove being together? Hardly,” scoffing at the mere idea, Phillip shook his head, “those two are like oil and water, amore. It wouldn’t ever work. She’s a spitfire, and he’s a doormat. He’d try and fail to wrangle a girl like her,”
“No need to be so critical,” Aurora chided, though it fell to deaf ears. It wasn’t often Phillip felt the need to decompress in front of her, so she wasn’t about to dismiss his worries, whatever those worries happened to be, “so what is on your mind then, if it isn’t anything to do with Audrey?”
“I thought perhaps Ben had learned something in those ivory walls,” Phillip complained, “but he’s as arrogant and empty headed as his father,”
“Such treasonous words, my King,” Aurora teased, though she did agree somewhat. Belle had always been the brains of the relationship, even before Auradon became official. But she seemed to have taken a large step back from any political responsibility after Ben’s birth, instead focusing on being a doting mother. Now days, she was merely an accessory to a hotheaded King’s wardrobe, and it was — in her own opinion — a bit pathetic.
Of course, Aurora herself enjoyed playing doting mother to her baby girl. Audrey was the light of her life, and very much the apple of Phillip’s eye. But neither she nor her husband ever let that stop them from being fully involved in both Rosalia and Wesminshire’s overall political standing. They even brought Audrey into the fold whenever possible, giving her plenty of chances to make large decisions on her own with a bit of support from them, and her two smitten Grandfathers.
“What has Ben’s choice in relationship have to do with politics?” Aurora puzzled lightly, accepting the tea passed across the table in lieu of her now uninteresting reading material.
“Everything!” Phillip exclaimed, “it’s as though he’s trying to slight us. Inviting Maleficent’s daughter here despite our country’s alignments. Failing to consult not just Auroria, but Agrabah and Shimmervale as well? And now this? It’s a conspiracy, Rose! I trust that girl as far as Audrey could throw her,”
“So what do you suggest we do?” Aurora asked daintily, “I do see your point, my love. And I’m not saying I don’t agree; quite the contrary actually. But laying siege to the palace at Auradon over a teenagers choice in partner, however misguided, wouldn’t be a good look,”
“I want to have a chat with King Beast and his son,” Phillip grumbled, “face to face, eye to eye. I’m not going to sit here and let these...these misgivings go unanswered.” Phillip folded his arms tightly, crossing one leg over the other as he bounced a foot, “Ben can only hide behind his youthful ignorance for so long. And I refuse to let Audrey deal with this mess on her own,”
“Our girl seems to think the four new students are up to something,” Aurora admitted to Phillip lightly, drawing the flat of her finger around the rim of her cup, “she mentioned it on our call the day they arrived. Told me about how Mal had acted towards her upon first arriving,”
“Did she speak to young Aziz and Winter?” Phillip questioned, “how do they feel about the son and daughter of their enemies being in Auradon?”
“Prince Aziz gets along quite well with the son of Jafar, from what I’ve heard. Audrey told me the two are quite similar, they both love Tourney, but as you know boys aren’t always as intuitive as they should be,”
“And Winter?”
“Having similar feelings to Audrey, I think,” Aurora confirmed, “Princess Winter is very quiet you know, but she’s not as stupid as everyone else seems to make her out to be. The girls are uneasy,”
“Rightfully so,” Phillip nodded, “I trust Audrey’s intuition in this matter. But Ben needs to know his foolishness is not appreciated in the eyes of his allied Kingdoms,”
“I concur,” Aurora sighed, “perhaps I’ll join you? I wish to speak with Queen Belle about the upcoming Family Day, and our RSVP,”
“I assume we won’t be traveling to Arendelle as we first thought?” Phillip asked with a small smile.
“With things as they are, I think Audrey and Winter would appreciate the extra political support. No need for things to get dicey while she’s alone. Maybe a letter to Queen Snow White and Sultana Jasmine would be proper, as well?”
“Yes, I think so,” Phillip nodded, rising from his chair to fetch scrolls and feather quills. Aurora merely pulled out her phone, gently typing out a message to Audrey.
‘Cancelling plans for Arendelle. See you at Family Day <3’
A/N: This AU is really just Aurora and Phillip being competent rulers, as well as thoughtful parents who think about how Mal’s presence could possibly threaten their little girl. Also royal politics 🙏

Out of the Water - Chapter V
Synopsis: You were very proud to be a mermaid, thank you very much. You didn’t want to be where the people were. Actually, you’d rather avoid it. Defending the merfolk was the biggest goal in your life… well, it was until you meet a certain pirate… it seems that your family really had a thing for humans, after all. Not that you’d ever admit it…
Pairing: Harry x reader
Word count: 4514
Part 5 of ?
Warnings: none? Possibly grammar mistakes? Also, some cuss words
A/N: English isn’t my first language, so I’ll probably mess up some tenses, grammar and stuff. Go easy on me, please. Feedback is always appreciated.
The sun was fading away in the horizon and soon it would be dark and, as you walked, you wondered why everything in this damned kingdom had to be so far away? Didn't they have magic carpets or something like that? Besides, since it was getting darker by the second, the sense of urgency was growing too. You had the feeling that Audrey was just playing with you - she obviously knew where you were, so why she didn't make a move yet? It was like a cat and mouse game and you were the mice heading towards a trap. Also, Mal having the Amber did not put your mind at ease since you didn't have the advantage.
You were literally entering to the lion's lair willingly.
"What happened between you and Hook?" You raised an eyebrow and Evie, who had come to talk to you, explained. "We heard the screaming. I know he can be difficult to deal with, but soon we'll all be in Auradon together".
Evie was way too good for this world, wasn't she? You didn't have the heart to contradict her or tell the atrocity the pirate had done to you.
"I know, sweetie. Don't worry, I'll try to be civil, even if the person in question is an utterly jerk who deserves a punch".
She sighed, looking almost disappointed. Obviously, you didn't give the answer she was hoping for but honestly, what was she expecting from you? Moreover, your response was nice enough, considering Harry was annoying and a water thief.
"That's a beginning, I suppose. But I think we can work on the aggressive attitude, though" she said with a shrug.
Oh, maybe you should have skipped the punching part... If she thought that was violent, you hoped she never found out that you almost chopped Harry's finger off, then.
As the time passed you grew impatient, it was already night and no one was in a chatty mood anymore. As for you, you've never wished for a day to end so fast and, on top of that, something else was bothering you and it was not the perspective of facing Psycho Audrey. Maybe it was the fact that once everything was over, Mal would let the kids off the Isle (it was what she had promised, after all). However, as much as you want to believe her, you had your doubts. Either way, nothing would ever be the same.
Finally, you arrived at Fairy Cottage and crossed the garden very quietly, trying not to draw attention to yourselves. When you finally got at the building, Ben burst the door open.
Great way to go unnoticed.
However, in the end, it didn't matter because Audrey wasn't there and your little journey had been a waste of time, thereby she was still on the loose and you had no one idea where she could be or what she was planning to do (but whatever it was, it would be unpleasant). Suddenly, the sound of a bustling knock filled the air startling everybody.  Ben followed the source of the disturbence and discovered a very scared Chad locked in the pantry.
The poor thing looked completely distressed and hysterical and, soon after, he mumbled some nonsense and rushed off without a second thought.
"Well, at least he is pretty" you said out loud. How Cinderela could have had such a foolish son was beyond your comprehension, but his golden locks made up for the lack of discernment.
Harry laughed and the clumsy encounter with Chad lifted everyone's spirit and, when you left the Cottage, there weren't Mal's gang or Uma's crew anymore, just friends trying to save the world. Even if you were all doomed; at least you'd end up things in good terms.
Yeah, that's what you naively thought.
Evie told Ben about Mal's promise and apparently Mal had had other plans that she didn't bother sharing with anyone: she was going to close the barrier for good. No more in, no more out.
Nothing serious or extreme.
No reason to freak out...
Holly shit!
You felt like a fool!
Just to think that you gave your word to Harry and Gil that Ben wouldn't do that! You were so mad that you couldn't even talk and it never happened before! Also, you didn't have the heart to face Uma, not after you said to her things were changing for the better. You knew how Uma pretended to be tough, but right now her spirit had been shattered...
Harry confronted Ben about the lie and you thought he'd lose his shit and gut someone, but he just looked completely broken, like someone had taken away his will to fight. Even though Harry and Uma knew pain and betrayal, they didn't expect this. They trusted the people of Auradon were different and they were let down.
Things weren't suppose to go this way! You wanted to do something! Anything! But what?
It was then that Celia took the amber from Mal's hand and threw it into the water. Well, if you were screwed before, now you were hopeless. At least it was for a good cause, if people in Auradon thought their lives were worthier than the life of the inhabitants of the Isle, let them rot. You couldn't even be mad at Uma for leaving since that was what you wanted to do too, but you knew there was nothing you could do to help her in this moment. Actually, you knew Uma well enough to know that going after her would only bother her.
The words Harry said to you earlier about Auradon's privilege echoed in your mind and you couldn't stay put anymore.
"I know this is not my place to say something. I mean, most of the time I'm not even here, I'm not a VK and closing the barrier doesn't affect my life... but it does. It does because there are people there, good people destined to live a dreadful life just because they were born on that Isle! People in Auradon have been living their perfect little lives where everything is pretty and colorful while we claim to be the good guys, but what we have done to the villains and their kids is atrocious! There will always be good and evil, that's how life works and we can't run away from it. Deciding which path to follow is what defines someone's true self, but in order to make this decision we need to have a chance. Mal, you of all people should know that, you had a chance and now that your life is good you want to deny those children the same opportunity? From this day on, every time you play 'happily ever after' with your prince charming, know that you are doing it at the expense of a child on that Isle"
You wish you had heard Mal's reply, but as soon as you finished talking, the world froze.
                                                     _______
Legend says that you were indeed the hottest stone statue in Auradon, but it didn't soothe you a bit. To say you were pissed was not nearly enough to express what you were feeling right now. If Audrey weren't already dying, you would have gladly killed her yourself. The only reason why you were still in the awful human world was Uma... this, and also because becoming stone had consumed all your energies and right now you were way too busy drinking a huge bottle of salted water to not die of dehydration.
Your grandfather would have to choose another diplomat because you were never ever setting foot on land again.
Maybe, if you weren't so angry, you would have choked on your drink when Mal told Hades was her father.
It explained a lot about her, though.
So, Hades, Mal's father, was the only one who could save Audrey and they were going to fetch him on the Isle to help the dying girl. Oh! The double standard! When a kid from Auradon curses everybody is "a mistake", but if someone from the Isle does that is "they are too dangerous, let's lock them up forever". Is it fair? No. Does anyone care? Also no.
You thought it couldn't get any worse, but boy, you were wrong. Uma just said she was going back to the Isle, which was pretty understandable and expected, but you had one itty-bitty tiny hope that she would stay.
Oh, on top of that, everyone accepted Mal and Ben's selfish decision to close the barrier. You scoffed under your breath, salted water wasn't enough to deal with all this, you needed something stronger, like vodka. The good thing was, since everyone was leaving and your cousins were safe, you had no more business in the human world and you took your cue from the VKs to announce your own departure too.
You waited for the limo alongside Uma, Harry, Gil and Celia, the atmosphere was tense, and you had seen happier people at funerals.
"I thought you were going back to Atlantica" the teal haired girl said, breaking the overwhelming silence.
"I'll go with you... until we reach the barrier, at least" your voice was more hoarse than you expected it to.
"Yeah, don't want to risk getting trapped, right?" If this was supposed to be a mean comment, Harry had failed; he just sounded sad, like everyone else. The pirate wasn't expecting an answer but you gave him one, anyway.
"I wouldn't mind going to the Isle, but there is no magic there and no magic means no legs for me, so you would be stuck with a mermaid... unless you don't care to carry me around..." you half-joked.
The car finally arrived and you got into it. It was nice that Ben sent the limo to pick up the VKs, and the guard's vehicle was going ahead, probably to go find Hades. There was all sorts of food in the limo, but no one touched them because all of you were way too lost in your own minds to be hungry. As you were approaching the Isle the unsettling feeling in your stomach grew worst and there was definitely something wrong with your eyes. Just before the car crossed the barrier, you asked the driver to stop. For one second, it seemed he would argue against it, but you gave him a warning look, since you weren't in the mood for more useless fights.
"Uma, can we talk outside for one second, please?" you asked.
You two got out of the car and, as soon as Uma closed the door, you hugged her.
"I'm sorry, Uma. I'm so sorry" the only thing you could do was to repeat how sorry you were, but you knew your apologies didn't change anything.
"I know" she reassured you, looking in your eyes "It's not your fault, you shouldn't be apologizing".
"Someone has to" you said, your felt so tight in your chest that hurt. Then, Uma smiled and hold your hand.
"Thanks for everything you've done for me. I don't know how I would have gone through the past months without you"
"You'd have done just fine, you're a fighter" it was now or never, you lowered your voice so even if someone in the car was paying attention to the conversation, they wouldn't hear you "You can still change your mind, let's go back to Atlantica and, before you interrupt me, Harry and Gil can come too. I have no idea how this is going to work but we'll figure it out" you offered her - you had to try.
"You know I can't abandon the Isle, speacially now" her eyes were full of sorrow, she knew exactly what meant to go back "Maybe you can swim near the barrier so we can see each other from time to time".
You knew she would say that, but it didn't mean it hurt any less.
"Definitely!" you tried to sound cheerful, but the words that left your mouth were robotic and fake "We'll see each other again".
This was a lie, even if you saw each other it would never be the same. The realization hit you hard and that weird feeling that you had in the car, finally made sense when streams of salt water started falling from your eyes.
"I'm leaking!" you freaked out "What is that?! I'm leaking!"
"You're crying, you idiot" she laughed, her eyes watering too.
"Nonsense, mermaids don..." before you could complete the sentence, Uma hugged you again, which made you start crying even harder.
No, not crying, leaking.
"I promise, Uma. I'll not stop fighting for the Isle. I'll talk to Mal, Ben or whoever I must to! They will change their minds, even if, in order to do so, I have to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them".
You didn't know how long you two stayed crying in each others arms but a voice with a thick accent called both of you after a while.
"Are you ladies alright?" Harry asked. The pirate and Gil were standing there next to both of you. The dark haired boy had a hint of curiosity on his face but he knew better than to tease his captain.
You two pulled away from the hug, Uma looked slightly embarassed to get caught in such an emotional moment.
"I can't believe I'm leaking" you said while trying to wipe away the tears from your eyes; however, they insisted on falling down.
This was so awkward.
"You're not leaking, you're crying" Gil's brow furrowed "Don't you know what crying is?"
"Yes, I do... it's just I've never cried before..." you said between sobs.
"Wow, life in Auradon must be really perfect if people don't even cry here" for the firts time since you met him, he sounded sad. The boy was probably thinking about all the opportunities he would never have in Auradon because he was destined to live on the Isle forever.
They took away Gil's bright smile and you could not forgive that.
"It's not that... I live in the sea, tears don't fall when you are under water" you explained, finally calming down.
"Maybe the ocean is just a big pool of mermaid's tears." Gil said absently, eyeing the vast blue ocean in front of him and you couldn't help but hug the blonde boy too.
The Sea Bitch was such a softie.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Gil. I wish we had more time to know each other better, but I know for sure that you're loyal, brave and gentle. I hope you are very happy. You deserve it".
You broke apart short after and Gil seemed very touched by your words.
"Thanks... that was one of nicest things that someone ever said to me" he offered you a shy smile "I wish you the same".
You looked at Harry, who looked back right into your eyes. You stared at each other until you hold out your hand, which he accepted. It was weird, Harry Hook has gotten on your nerves since the very first moment you met. He was smug, annoying and a little crazy, but at the same time he was very funny and fearless, qualities that you admired. You wanted to say something, but before you could open your mouth he let go of your hand.
That was it, then.
You also said goodbye to Celia and wished her the best. Then, the VKs got into the car again and, since Harry was the last one standing outside, you took the chance to ask him a favor.
"Please, take care of Uma"
His face broke into small smile and he nodded slightly.
You watched with a shattered heart the limo cross the barrier, taking away your friends from you forever.
There was nothing else you could do, so you jumped into the ocean and disappeared between the waves.
Not an hour ago all you wanted was to be back home, but now everything seemed pointless. For the last months Uma lived in Atlantica and going back without her gave you a knot in the stomach, things wouldn't be the same anymore without your friend there. The two of you used to spend hours plotting ways to get everyone off the Isle, finding a hole in the barrier or just talking about the future... and now you had nothing but crushed hopes. Of course you wouldn't give up, but you felt like you had moved backwards 10 spaces in the game, you fought for the merfolk on the Isle for so long and when it finally seemed that everything was going to be fine, it was a lie.
You were so absorbed in your thoughts that you didn't pay attention to where you were heading, which caused you to bump into your mother and younger brother.
"Where have you been"? Attina asked, her voice was somewhere between angry and concerned, but it was impossible to miss the vein popping out on her forehead "I was worried sick about you!"
"Sorry mom, I was in Auradon" you told her, knowing very well that this answer would only upset her more because there was no way she hadn't hear about Audrey and her little mishap.
"Auradon?!" The look of horror on her face made clear that she knew about what happened and wasn't happy about it. If humans thought you were hardcore, it was because they never talked to your mother "Do you know what Sleeping Beauty's daughter did?"
If you knew? You lived and survived it.
"I heard even Uma was there! Your grandfather was almost sending guards to look for you and your cousins! What happened?"
"Did you finally meet Uma, then?" your brother, Nereus, joined the conversation. He didn't know anything about Uma or that you two were friends. Also, he had no idea that he had talked to her many times when she was under the charm spell.
Then, your mother called by your full name, which never meant something good.
"You weren't there in hopes to befriend Ursula's daughter and bring all the merfolk from the Isle to Atlatica, were you?" Your mother knew you so well... and she wasn't happy.
"Of course not, mom..." I'm already friends with Uma, you added mentally.
Before she started complaining, you explained everything that happened that day (ok, almost everything, you definitely skipped some parts). Her disapproval face grew to the point her vein was ready to explode, while your brother gasped and cheered at the most exciting parts, as you told the story. Under other circumstances you would have narrated the events in a dramatic and majestic way, not sparing any single detail; however, it was way too painful to remember that was your first and last adventure with Uma and her crew.
"Will they close the barrier forever for real?" Nereus asked and, when you nodded, he offered you a sympathetic smile. He knew how much you fought for the merpeople on the Isle.
Your mother, on the other hand, had other things bothering her.
"So, you tell me that they let a bunch of kids fight against a delusional girl who held one of the most dangerous tools of dark magic in the kingdom? Where were Fairy Godmother, the Blue Fairy, the 3 Good Fairies? You can't trust fairies, that's what I always say to your grandfather! Where were Belle and the Beast? Any adults?!" as she talked, her voice got more and more high-pitched, until she was practically shouting.
"They were probably under Audrey's spell" you enlightned her, even knowing that it would not ease her mind one bit.
"That's an absurd! How can we trust our kids to go to Auradon Prep if they can't keep the security system of a museum working properly?!"
You and your brother exchanged looks. Although your mother had a valid point, you didn't want to hear any of it, which was odd, because you never missed the opportunity to roast the human world.
Claiming to be tired, you excused yourself and swam to your room and, as soon as you got there, you glanced at the spot where Uma would used to stay, knowing that you'd probably never talk to her again. You felt like someone was crushing your heart and if you weren't under the sea, tears would be rolling down your face. You lay on the bed, trying to stop thinking about Uma, the Isle and everything. It was a good thing that you were exhausted, so you soon fell into a dreamless sleep.
You weren't sure how much time had passed, but, suddenly, you were woken by someone knocking on your door. You cursed under your breath, who, in the seven seas, was disturbing you right now? Not even bothering to look up, you invited whoever was at your door to come in, you heard them entering and closing the door and, after a moment, you felt the weight of someone sitting on your bed.
They coughed and you recognized the deep voice that belonged to none other than your grandfather, King Triton.
"Grandpa!" you sat up quickly and hugged him.
"Hello, my dear" everyone feared your grandfather for he had quite a dauntless reputation (even you had to admit that he was frightening sometimes), also, his temper was known in all Auradon. However, when he looked at you with those gentle eyes, you forgot he was the King of the ocean, in these moments he was just your grandfather and you fell protected and loved near him.
"Oh grandpa, it was dreadful and I'm misarable" you hugged him again, hiding your face on his neck.
"Your mother told me what happened and that King Ben wants to close the barrier" his voice was so calm that it was difficult to imagine that when he was angry he could create storms and tsunamis.
"That's horrible. I feel so powerless and guilty! I know most of people think everyone in the Isle is evil but that's not true! They are kind and loyal and they don't deserve to be doomed to perish in that place! You should have seem their faces when Mal told them the program had been shut down" your grandfather wasn't know for his love for villains, everytime someone brought Ursula up he got riled up and changed the subject quickly, but you needed to speak out.
"And who are 'they' that you're talking about?" he asked, stroking you hair softly to confort you.
"You know... Celia, Gil, Harry... and Uma" you were nervous to talk about Uma with him. Actually, despite him knowing that you were in charge for her "search party" you have never discussed that you wanted to bring her to Atlantica, even more that you had brought her to the palace clandestinely and that she lived under his roof for months.
"Uma?" his voice was stern when he said your friend's name.
"Grandpa" you straightned up and looked him in the eye "I know it must be hard for you because Ursula caused great pain to our family but Uma has nothing to do with it, she is brave, smart and care so much about other people. She had the chance to stay in Auradon but she came back to the Isle because she couldn't abandon them! She might has taken some questionable decisions, but who hasn't? She was fighting for what she believed was right! Isn't it what you taught me?"
King Triton furrowed his brows; the wrinkles in his forehead were visible which could only mean he was deliberating something.
"You do seem to know a lot about her" he said after a while, his voice and face were severe and you swallowed... this conversation was taking a dangerous path.
"Well... I..."
Before you could finish the sentence, your grandfather cut you off.
"I know what you did"
You froze, he couldn't possibly be talking about Uma living in Atlantica. There was no way he knew that, if he had had any suspicion of what you did, he would have been beyond furious, so you tried to play cool.
"What are you talking about, grandpa?"
He raised an eyebrow and sighed.
"I know you brought Uma to live here in Atlantica"
And then you died.
The end.
Oh wait.
You weren't dead... but you were sure your grandfather just told you that he knew about Uma... Something was terribly wrong. He probably noticed your bulging eyes and horrified expression because he elucidated soon after.
"I raised seven daughters, my darling. I don't need my trident to see through a charm spell and a lie" it was weird, his voice was strangely serene and he looked slightly amused.
"But... how... like... why... Aren't you angry?" there weren't enough words to describe your shock right now.
"I learned to trust the people I love a long time ago, even when we don't agree on the subject." his tone was solemn and wise and it made you feel so small and pathetic because you knew you had disappointed him.
"I'm sorry, grandpa.... I'm sorry that I lied to you and that I disappointed you, but I'm not sorry for what I did" you didn't have the courage to look him in the eyes, but he lifted up your face and smiled.
"You didn't disappoint me. I trusted you enough to let you do what you thought was right, that was what I taught you. And considering everything I saw in the last months, I believe Uma is a good girl and I'm glad you're friends"
You returned his smile, not in your wildest dreams you thought your grandfather would understand this and it made you so glad how supportive and understanding he was about everything.
"I'm sorry for lying to you! I won't do it again" you promised him.
"You're young, you will" he laughed it off "But trust me when I say that I'll be by your side no matter what"
Everything should be perfect; however, there were a bitter feeling in your mouth and a knot in the pit of your stomach that you couldn't get rid of. In the end, it didn't matter if your grandfather trusted Uma or not, because she would be trapped on the Isle forever.
"So… I think I need your help" you bit your lip, uncertain of how to say it "We can't let them close the barrier for good, but I don't know what to do!"
"Don't worry, I promised I'll talk to King Ben about this. They can't just close the barrier like this without measuring the consequences" he reassured you "Now, rest, my darling. You had a long day"
He got up and swan towards your door, but before leaving he turned his head and said.
"Otherwise, you have my permission to summon up the wrath of the ocean upon them" he winked at you and left.
"Wait" you whispered to yourself "How does he even know?"
And then it hit you.
"SEBASTIAN!"

"It's okay, everything will be fine." You have Geon in your arms who is screaming loudly. Jaehyun had Kiwoo with him and is measuring the boy's temperature. "Mummy, it's so loud." Miga looked at you and Sunoh moved away from the babies. They woke up because of the screaming of the twins because and it was only 3 am. "I know my sweetheart. We just measure the fever of the babies and then Mummy goes down with your brothers, okay?" You smile gently and your daughter nodded. Meanwhile, Jaehyun handed the thermometer. "And?" You ask worriedly. "Geon has 38.2°C." Jaehyun was as nervous as you were. Never before had any of your children had a fever in the first 3 months. You also measure Kiwoo's body temperature and the result was the same. "38.2°C. How can it be that both get sick at the same time and then have the same temperature?" You sigh and put Geon over one shoulder. "Should we call the emergency doctor?" Asked Jaehyun and you nod. "I read that we should contact a doctor when the babies have over 38°C." You became more and more nervous. Your sons screamed and screamed, their face was already red. Since a long time you weren't so afraid for your children than now. "Ok I'll call a doctor." Jaehyun put Kiwoo over your other shoulder and took his phone. "I'm going down with the babies. Please put Sunoh and Miga to sleep." You look at the two older children who looked tired at the twins. Jaehyun nodded and you go down with your crying boys and try to find a quiet place.
You sit on the couch in the living room, open your shirt and try to feed the two, but they didn't want to. They didn't eat, just screamed and had a fever. "Please, just drink a little ... just for Mummy...please..." You were desperate and you started crying as well. Your children were the most important to you and if they were sad, you were sad too. "Hey, are you okay?" You suddenly hear Audrey behind you, sitting down next to you with her pajamas. "The twins are sick." You sob and cradle the children in your arms. "Do you need anything? Should we call a doctor?" Audrey looks at you worriedly, but you shake your head. "Jaehyun called the emergency doctor because they have a high fever." The two kept screaming and you would love to take them their pain away. "Everything will be fine." Your sister tried to calm you down, but it was so much more. "I am a bad mother. The twins are sick, Sunoh has been excluded from kindergarten and Miga is crying secretly because she gets too little attention. Why did I imagine to have so many children if I couldn't deal with it all of myself? I can’t take care of them equal!" The tears flowed down your cheeks and you cling to your boys even tighter. "Y/N, you are not a bad mother. You are doing everything well. Four children are not easy to handle." Audrey looked at you and you just nod. "What if I go on a girls day with Miga and Mia? And Emilian and Xiaojun should take Sunoh and do something. You and Jaehyun could take care of the twins in peace. Is that okay?" Your sister smiled softly and at that moment you feel so much gratitude. "Thanks Audrey, that sounds perfect."
Tumblr media
Said and done. Audrey, Mia and Miga went on a beauty adventure and Emilian, Xiaojun and Sunoh went on a men's day. The doctor was already there. The twins may have catched a cold down during the flight. Everything was okay with them otherwise. The doctor had prescribed a suppository to lower the fever. When everyone was gone, you are lying on the mattresses and each of you has a baby in their hand. "I am so glad that is just a cold and nothing worse." You sigh and put the twins in their crib. After crying and screaming for a long time, the babies have finally fallen asleep. "Yes, I'm also glad. They will surely recover soon." And so it was for you too. You lay down next to them and look at the two boys. Jaehyun put his arm around you, hummed something and finally you two fall asleep.
You wake up because your breasts hurt incredibly. You hadn't fed a child in the past 12 hours and otherwise you had at least 1 child on your breast within three hours. You look at your babies, who were still sleeping soundly. You stroke them over their little heads, but nothing made them wake up. Your breasts tightened so much that you wanted to lift up and feed. But the doctor said that sleep was the most important thing for them now. You try to get out of the hug to pump yourself out in the bathroom, but Jaehyun didn't let you go. "Stay here," he murmured, pulling you closer to himself. "Jaehyun I have to ... my breasts hurt because they're so full." You sigh, but your husband didn't let you go. "Let me help you. Actually, the timing is ideal." He grinned and you look at him in surprise. It was still a strange thought for you, but on the other hand: why not? "Okay," you whisper and Jaehyun leaned over you. First he kissed you gently. On your lips. On your cheek. On your neck. Until he was on your chest. He pulled your shirt over your head and released you from your bra. "Your breasts are really hard." Jaehyun stroked your skin and then gently on your nipples, but it was no longer pleasant. "That's why they hurt so much." You look at him a little painfully. "Don't worry, I'll help you." He grinned dirty and continued kissing your breasts. He massaged your nipples a bit, but they immediately let milk drip. "Jaehyun .... please ..." You beg him and the moment he put his mouth on your nipples, as he had done so many times before, but you hadn't breastfed before. You were afraid that it felt strange, but it wasn't. It was like your foreplay was when Jaehyun had a very breast-obsessed phase. And somehow that turned you on too. Especially when the pressure got less, you could relax. When Jaehyun stimulated you, you start to moan softly. Somehow the situation was very intimate, you wouldn't do that with anyone else. But Jaehyun looked that he also like it and with his hand he slid down over your belly into your pants. He started massaging your clit as he turned to the other breast. Your body started to twitch and you bite your lip because everything was so intense. And it wasn't long before you had your climax.
"How was it for you?" Asked Jaehyun when you were lying and looking at each other. "Well, I thought it was going to be awkward, but it felt very intimate." You smile and look into your husband's brown eyes. "How was it for you?" You also ask. "Like a dessert. It was all very sweet." Jaehyun grinned and then pulled you to hug you. "I hope Geon and Kiwoo wake up soon. I think they are very weak." You turn to the babies with Jaehyun and worry. He hugged you tightly and kissed your temple. "They will be fine. They just need a little sleep." "Do you think we should have waited until Sunoh and Miga are older? I'm afraid we'll neglect them." You turn on your back and look at Jaehyun. He said nothing at first and brushed your hair aside. "No. Do you remember how unhappy you were that you didn't get pregnant? And when we wanted to give up, you were already pregnant. The twins really wanted to be with us. Sometimes I think that maybe you couldn’t get pregnant for so long because Geon and Kiwoo were meant for us and just needed time. " Jaehyun smiled softly and you calmed down. "They have become wonderful, haven't they?" You ask him with a smile. "Yes, they are perfect."
Tumblr media
After a super long sleep, the twins also woke up. Their fever was gone, they were hungry again and stopped crying. Kiwoo was the first one who woke up and was immediately hungry. Then it was Geon's turn and when you have him in your arms and Jaehyun put Kiwoo back in bed, the door opens carefully. You see a little girl with long dark hair and a big grin on her face. "MIGA! You're back here." You're happy to have your girl here again. Jaehyun also looked at his daughter and stretched out his arms. The girl immediately ran and snuggled up to her father. "Why do you smell of lilac?" He asked and Miga giggled. "We went to the hairdresser and they made my hair." Miga seems to have had a wonderful day. "Oh, I see. You have beautiful curls now." You reach through her hair with your free hand and see how beautiful she looked with it. "Look Mummy." She then showed her her nails, which were painted with glitter pink. "Wow, that looks great. Did you have a wonderful day with your aunts?" You then ask her and see how she hung on Jaehyun's shoulder. "Yesssss. We had soooo much fun." Miga giggled, but you could see her getting a little tired. "I'm happy my princess." Jaehyun kissed her and never wanted to let her go.

Episode 32: Sundown At Ashfield (Part 2)
He grabbed his backpack and placed his mask inside. He then pointed towards the cemetery front gate and we entered. We walk through rows of graves as we went deeper and deeper into the cemetery.
Tumblr media
Some graves were covered entirely by grass and weeds while others sat tall and crooked in the dirt. He pointed to a giant weeping willow tree and there a small tent sat under it. It looked like a campsite with a little campfire, a sitting area with logs, and various gear sitting around it.
"Welcome," he beamed. "This is my home away from home, so make yourself at home."
Tumblr media
"In a cemetery?"
"It's not that bad. It's pretty serene. Plus the dead stay dead here. No rising from the grave so far."
"Still doesn't make it any less creepy."
"Oh, don't be such a Debbie Downer. Sit down. Let's talk."
He sat down and I sat down across from him. I placed my bag beside me and watched him do the same. He lit a fire with a lighter creating a warm glow amongst the chilly gloom.
Tumblr media
"So what happened to the fancy stick?" I scoffed. "You actually managed to impress me out there.”
"Really? It’s just something I made using junk at the junkyard. A spear. It took me forever to make” he blushed as I rolled my eyes. “I fashioned it after my favorite video game-"
"Ugh, videogames. You sound like Audrey."
"Who?"
"Nevermind.”
“Well, I left it at the front gate if you want to look at it.”
“No. I don’t.”
“Ok. Ok. Well, I bet this will put a smile on your face." He smirked and reached for his backpack. He pulled out a packet of small spongy cakes. He held it up like a trophy, ripped it open, took out one, and bit into it. He then held the packet out to me. A mouth full of cake, he offered me the other. "Twinkie?"
Tumblr media
"No, thanks," I frowned. He seemed disappointed but continued eating. I studied his face now getting a good look. He looked to be banged up a bit. He even seemed to be sporting a shiner and bruises to go with it. Poor guy. My eyes then scan the place as he chomped down on the second cake. I felt unease. Not because of the creepy choice of setting, but for the living who might come by. "So you sure this place is secure?"
"Yep. Along as the gate is closed, they stay out. Maybe one or two might squeeze in -”
“No. I mean the living.”
“Oh. Well, not even my sister knows about this place. Also, most strangers stay clear of places like this, so we’re good."
"Are you sure? No one followed you?"
Tumblr media
"Follow me?! No way! They don't care about me or where I go. My sister does, but only when she remembers I'm related to her," he huffed. "Besides, they sent me out on a supply run. They've been sending me out for a lot of supply runs lately. To get me out the way I guess. They probably think I'll be gone for days since they sent me on some stupid hunt for watch batteries. Jokes on them, I found them already. Ha!"
"How about Jade though?"
"What about her?"
"Well, last I left you she was knocked out on the floor thanks to your genius thinking and you were going make up some bullshit story to save your ass. What happened with that?"
"Well, she woke up. That's for sure. She was a bit confused and dizzy at the time so she brought my story. Didn't make her any less angry though. She yelled a lot. Asked me a bunch of questions and yelled some more."
"Oh. So is that who gave you that shiner?"
"The black eye," he asked touching it hesitantly. He shook his head. "No. Ace did this but it's nothing. I've had worse."
"Worse?"
"Yeah. Let's just say I don't keep medical supplies around just for kind strangers like you," he chuckled. He then sighed. "He just gets really angry and frustrated with me is all. After Jade told him my story about getting jumped, he told me I should have done something. Said I was useless. Then he punishes me...with his fist."
I shook my head. "You should leave them."
"But my-"
"Your sister. Yeah, I know, but it's not fair to you. Does she even try to stop it? Does she do anything?"
"She tries to talk him down and she has kept him from killing me so far."
"That's fucked up."
"I'm fine. Really. Don't worry about me," he smirked. He fidgeted a bit and threw his twinkie wrapper to the side. He then grabbed another one. "You sure don't want one? Here take one."
He handed it to me, but I had no interest in cake or food at the moment. I placed it on top of my bag beside me. I looked up at him and his mouth was already full of cake. I groaned. "Enough with the twinkies!"
Tumblr media
"You don't like them?"
"They’re fine, but I didn't come here to stuff my face, kid. I came here-"
"For Gemma."
"Bingo. You know her?"
"Yeah. Redhead, right? Tall, pale, insane."
"Yeah. Exactly. Definitely nuts. She part of your crew, right?"
"Yeah. Unfortunately," he mumbled. He tensed up and look downward. "When you said Gemma, I thought the name sound familiar. I wasn't entirely sure. Then it came back to me. You're talking about Big Red."
"Who?"
"Big Red. Her codename is Red Devil, but everybody calls her Big Red. Have you come across her or something?"
"Have I come across her? She's in my house right now. Well, where me and my friends are staying at least. She just showed up one day-"
"Wait! You said she's at your house?" he gasped. "Oh, God. Are you serious?"
"Yeah. She's tied up in our kitchen now-"
"That doesn't matter. You're like in serious danger," he shrilled. He then began grumbling to himself. "They never tell me anything. Shit. Of all the things to not to tell me..."
"Hey! Hey!" I snarled. I snapped my fingers in his face. "Talk to me. What's up?"
He came back to attention. His eyes wide and the color draining from his face. "Has anyone died since she's been there?"
"Meh. No. Not really. We had an old lady named Grace die, but that was before she came and the corpses killed her."
"Well, you're lucky. That's a damn miracle. You see Red takes pleasure in killing. She kills people. She likes toying with them first and then she lets them turn. Sometimes she lets them turn and watches them devour loved ones. She thinks it's funny. She's a psychopath and Ace loves her for it. She’s like his little pet," he said. "He sends her in when he wants a bloodbath, so I don't get it. You should be dead by now."
"Well, we're not and she's tied up. Maybe we got the better of her."
"Of her. Ha! If she wants to kill you... if she wants to get free, she will. She knows how to manipulate people to get what she wants. Trust me. She won't stay tied up for long," he warned. "Hmm...the only reason you're still alive because Ace had to order her not to. That's the only thing that makes sense."
Tumblr media
"Why would Ace order her not to? Is that his usual thing?"
"No. Not at all. He takes pleasure in sick shit like Red, but he's a lot more tamer about it I guess. Still strange. At less...," he pondered. He then gasped. "At less, he needs you alive."
I scoffed. "For what?"
"I don't know. It's the only explanation I got though."
"You're hopeless. Do they really not tell you anything?" I sighed. "What about the Ace? What's his deal?"
"Ace aka Johnathan? He's just a power-hungry asshole who takes his jollies on preying on the weak and stealing from them. Who needs to find supplies or food when you can make someone else do it for you," he scowled. "But he didn't start off like that. He was a jerk but he was fairly normal when we met him. Part of me pities him."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Like you, he had a daughter, but he lost her doing this. It broke him. The way she died and everything. It truly broke him."
I started to ask how she died but part of me was afraid. People dying in this mess was enough to mess with your head, but losing a child...that was something else. I thought back to the zombified little girl and I got chills. I then thought of my daughter. Was Mya alive?
Both of us then froze as we heard something. It sounded like it was right behind me. The crinkling of paper? I quickly stood up and look back. A hand was reaching out from behind a gravestone and bushes. It had managed to pull my bag closer to them and its fingers felt around on top of my bag. It grabbed the Twinkies and I grabbed its wrist. It was no way it was a corpse. I pulled out my gun and pulled the intruder towards me. I gasped.
"Audrey?!"
Tumblr media
"What? You're weren't eating them and I got hungry," she whined. I let her go and she grab the spongy cakes. "You don't want it right?"
Part 1
Audrey gets those Twinkies in Part 3.
P.S. I wish someone would make a normal looking wooden spear and Twinkies is a nod to Zombieland. xD

Roguish Women Part 46
Summary: Kate is an American who fled to Paris to escape her past life. Now she's dancing and  playing the part of a courtesan at the Moulin Rouge. There she meets Tommy Shelby who thinks she can be useful in expanding his empire. But has he been blinded?
Part 46: Right before the storm, there’s a calm.
Tumblr media
“Easy…easy.” Tommy enveloped Kate into his arms. The second he had told her what happened, she had gone into a panic. “It’s going to be alright.”
Her knees buckled as she cried into his shoulder. “I told you! All that time ago, I told you! If John had just apologized. If you had made peace with the Changrettas none of this would’ve happened. I told you, Tommy, I told you.”
“What’s done is done.” He pulled up a chair for her in the kitchen and eased her into it. “But you can’t have a fit.”
Kate wiped her eyes on her sleeve and looked at him. She hiccuped as she studied his expression. “You’re lying to me about something.”
His brow creased slightly, an obvious tell that she was right. Maybe he had been hoping that the news would be so upsetting to her that she wouldn’t notice anything amiss.
“I don’t believe that anything could’ve happened. You had the entire place on lockdown, you were in on it with Alfie. You…” It dawned on her. “You knew they were going to come and kill him. You let them kill your own brother?” She shouted.
“No!” He grabbed her wrists before she could start getting some hits in. “No, he-” Tommy huffed. Leave it to his fiancée to unravel his plan in mere seconds. “He’s not dead.”
There was fire in Kate’s eyes. The second his grip loosened on her, she whacked him in the shoulder so hard he actually flinched. “So, you wanted everyone to mourn another one of your brothers?” She snapped. “You just love to toy with everyone’s emotions, don’t you, Thomas?”
            “If you’d let me explain…”
“Y’know what I did tonight? I murdered Mickey. You’re down one less Italian thanks to me. But you’re behind the scenes playing everyone like fucking puppets while everyone else does your fucking dirty work!” She continued to rant.
“Oi!” He yelled over her. “If you’d let me fucking explain.”
Kate was fuming but didn’t say another word, allowing him to continue.
“We needed Luca to think Arthur was dead. You know the rules of a vendetta.”
“There are no fucking rules. You think Luca’s going to suddenly go back to New York because he thinks he killed John and Arthur? Tommy, he wants your empire, and the only way he’s going to get that if we’re all dead.” Kate reminded him sternly. “He doesn’t respect some rule of getting even.”
“He doesn’t. But his mother does.”
 ~~~~~~~~~~
            “Shelby residence.”
            “You really answer the phone that way, huh? Far as I’m concerned you ain’t a Shelby yet, love.”
            Kate smiled when she heard Alfie’s voice on the other end of the line. The day had been a mess of emotions as they faked Arthur’s funeral and met with Audrey Changretta. The more time passed, the more anxious Kate became. The end was coming very quickly and she couldn’t predict how things were going to play out. “Did you arrive safely at Margate?” She asked.
            “Yeah, well wouldn’t be calling you, now would I?”
            She laughed softly. “I was just being polite.”
            “Should be asking if all of you got out safely.”
            “I assume you already know.”
            “Yeah, right, well I do pride myself in having eyes and ears all ‘round the country. It’s a nice thing to have. Keeps me well informed in matters even if they ain’t none of my business.”
            “And what have your ears been hearing?” She asked.
            “The rest of Changretta’s men, including the man himself, stormed me bakery today. M’sure they were intending to take it as their own. Had a feeling they would.” Alfie replied.
            “And?”
            “Well, unfortunately, your fiancée’s trick of hiding grenades didn’t work out this time.”
            Kate rolled her eyes. “Jesus, Alfie, you were willing to blow up that whole building out of spite?”
            “If I can’t have it, no one can.” He retorted almost like a child. “Not that they would’ve done business well there anyway.” He mumbled to himself.
            “Well, if they’re there, Alfie, then I’m guessing they took over the building whether you like it or not.”
            “Right, but how long could they have control over it, aye? Just until ‘ol blue eyes comes in to end them all?”
            A sly smile crossed Kate’s lips. “Alfie Solomons, is that faith in Tommy Shelby I hear?”
            “Now hang on. This phone call weren’t meant to sing praise. Just stating some facts. ‘Sides, if it were me in his shoes those bastards would’ve been dead weeks ago.” He asserted.
            “So, you were just calling to tell me about the bakery?”
            “Partly. Also, when you run those rats out of the country, I would ask you to extend the bakery to Alice Diamond.”
            Kate looked a little shocked. “Alice? I’m not sure I understand.”
            “Y’know they’ve had hands in Camden Town for years without me permission. But I turned a blind eye because I am a very forgiving man and frankly, I would go to great lengths to avoid a meeting with that woman. If she wants to try her hand at baking, under your guidance, I think it might make a good fit. I’d rather have people I know take it over than some American fucks, you excluded.”
            Kate smiled. “You’re being awfully generous for one day. Is there any other reason?”
            Alfie cleared his throat. “I perhaps have to thank you and one of Alice’s she-devils for my current situation. Lillian, to be specific.”
            “Oh…I see. You took my advice then.”
            He took a deep breath as if it pained him to admit she was right. “I extended an invitation to Mabel to come visit me in Margate.”
            “And she said yes, of course.”
            “If ya wanted to talk to yourself, I might as well not have called, smug girl.” He retorted. “Don’t need you finishing me sentences like a fucking parrot.”
            Kate stifled a giggle. “Well, I’m very happy for you. Truly, Alfie, I am.”
            “Right…” He didn’t seem to know how to respond.
            “And maybe one day soon I’ll come visit you and Mabel.”
            “She’s just visiting don’t get…” He groaned knowing he wasn’t going to win. “I suppose that’ll be alright. Although I’m not quite open to the idea of Tommy coming too. Lethe, right, it’s a very peaceful place and he’d just fuck that up, wouldn’t he?”
            “Lethe, am I supposed to know what that is?” She asked.
            “It’s what I’ve called the home I’ve bought. I’m not about to explain the intricate workings of Greek mythology to you.”
            “I see.” Kate turned when she heard the door open and Tommy came in. “Well, suppose we bring along the children, would that negate Tommy’s presence?”
            Her fiancée rolled his eyes knowing exactly who was on the other end of the line.
            “I’d consider it,” Alfie replied.
            “Glad to hear it. But I’ll have to go now, Alfie, it was nice talking to you and say hello to Mabel for me when she arrives.” The two friends exchanged goodbyes before Kate hung up the phone.
            “So now you and Alfie gossip over the phone?” Tommy asked, taking off his cap and coat.
            “Well, he called to tell me Luca and his men took over the bakery. At least for the time being.” She reported. “And also, that I was right.”
            “Yeah? Right about what?” The news about the bakery didn’t particularly bother him. Who cares if Luca had a warehouse full of rum? His days were numbered anyway.
            Kate followed him into the parlor. “Right about the fact that I could find someone for him. I did.”
            Tommy raised an eyebrow in surprise. “Then I’m glad I didn’t let you bet anything on it.” He sat down and patted his thigh.
            She smiled and eagerly curled up on his lap. “You still would get me something for being right.” She murmured and kissed down his jaw.
            “What do you want, then?”
            “Hm…” She thought to herself for a bit. “How about a nice wedding to the man I love?”
            Tommy chuckled. “You’re already getting that.” He reminded her. “Just have to be patient.
            “Then that’s all I want.” She rested her cheek on his shoulder.
            “Was worried you were going to ask for a summer home in Margate so you and Alfie could be neighbors and torment me.”
            She laughed softly. “I’m not that cruel.” With a heavy sigh, she returned to the real problem at hand. “Who were you going to the office to call?” She asked.
            Tommy was quiet for a moment. “I don’t think you’ll like the answer.” He admitted.
            Kate lifted her head to look at him. “Tom…who was it?”
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a long argument while Polly and Tommy were gathering paperwork. Tommy was ready to ship Kate out to Margate to be as far away from the action as possible. He was confident enough in the plan, but if there was even a slim chance of Kate getting hurt, he wasn’t going to risk it.
But she wasn’t having it. “So, I’m supposed to sit by the phone to wait and hear if he’s killed you or not?” Kate snapped.
It was an already tense enough scene organizing the papers for the company. Polly was there as a fly on the wall for most of it, silently signing papers and glancing back and forth between the two arguing.
“What choice do I have, aye?” Tommy, who was under a considerable amount of stress, was not about to lose this battle. “You’re the perfect target for him, Kate. I told you time and time again that I won’t have you dealing with any of this because you’re pregnant. Yet time and time again, you’ve stuck yourself in. This is the final stand and I won’t have you there. You aren’t changing my mind.”
“You’re not the one who decides where I go, Thomas.”
“Why do you feel the need to put yourself in unnecessary danger?” He asked exasperated that she was still pushing the matter.
“Because I’m a part of this family and I will stand with this family.” She crossed her arms over her chest.
“You’d be willing to put the lives of our children at risk because you want to prove some fucking point?” He demanded.
Kate’s resolve faltered. Her stomach was in knots, it had been for days. “Tom, if something happens to you and I’m not there…” Her voice trembled.
Polly finally had to step in. She touched Kate’s arm gently. “Darling, nothing is going to happen. We’ll be alright.”
“Then there’s no reason for me not to be there.” She asserted.
Tommy exhaled sharply and forcefully stubbed his cigarette into the ashtray mixed within the sea of paperwork on his desk. “What would I do, aye, if something happened to you? I’ve risked enough.”
“But if it’s just Luca against all of us then how could you think that anything could go wrong?”
“Because I’m not letting that chance happen. Now go home, I’m done fighting about this with you. The answer is no.” He spoke firmly, pointing to the door.
Kate’s jaw tightened but she decided to turn on her heel and storm out instead of arguing further.
When the office doors slammed shut, Polly looked up to her nephew. “She’s worried about you, that’s all.”
“She should be worried about being pregnant.” He grumbled.
“It will go as planned. And if it doesn’t, then who is Luca going to aim for first?” Polly reasoned with him.
Tommy sighed and rested his hands on his desk. “I can’t fucking believe you’re siding with her.”
“I’m not. I just know she’s going to show up there no matter what you say. So, you might as well put her into the plan or you’ll be caught off guard tomorrow.”
Tommy looked angry that she was right. He couldn’t physically drag Kate into a car and send her off to Alfie’s beach house. “For fuck’s sake.” He muttered.

The Substitute Ladybug: Chapter 8
After Lila takes things too far and Marinette ends up with a broken leg, Paris is going to have to deal with a different superhero arrangement for a bit. Having to share her superhero identity with her parents before Hawkmoth can be defeated isn’t something that Marinette had planned on doing, but- well, it might end up being a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Marinette had gotten as far as the gate in front of the Agreste mansion when she realized that, like her house, Adrien's place had stairs. Unlike the Dupain-Cheng household, the mansion didn't have any sort of lifts on the stairs, or an elevator like the school.
She hadn't remembered to consider that. Really, she should have, and then she should have talked to Adrien about it before school let out for the day to figure out what he wanted her to do.
Worrying her lip, Marinette step-hopped forward through the gates as they swung open. She could probably figure out the steps- she had been working on it during her physical therapy, it was just that normally she had people behind her to steady her- or just scoot herself up the stairs on her rear, but neither seemed like particularly good ideas. The first sounded dangerous, and the second-
Well, Mr. Agreste was all about appearances, and scooting up the stairs on her butt wasn't exactly a good appearance. And after it had taken so long for Adrien to get permission to have Marinette over in the first place, she didn't want to do anything that would get her immediately booted out.
With a deep breath, Marinette readied herself to go up the steps. She had only just gotten herself in position to start hopping her way up, though, when two large hands grabbed her shoulders and lifted. Before Marinette could figure out what was going on, she was being carried up the front steps and through the front door as it smoothly swung open. The carrier- it had to be the Gorilla, based both on the size of the hands and the height at which she was being unceremoniously carried- continued forward at an unchanging pace, all the way up the set of stairs in the entryway and right to the door of Adrien's room, where they came to an abrupt halt.
Marinette didn't doubt that if Adrien hadn't been standing in front of his door, cringing as he took in the sight of her getting hauled in by her shoulders, that the Gorilla would have continued straight into his room without missing a beat.
And then Marinette found herself scrambling to get her feet under herself as the Gorilla set her back down, just as abruptly as he had picked her up. He lingered long enough to make sure that she wouldn't fall over, then headed off without a word.
"I am so, so sorry," Adrien murmured as he opened the door to his room, standing back to give her plenty of room to get by. "I mentioned that you might have trouble getting up the stairs, so- well, I was trying to ask about if we have any elevators or ground-level entrances, honestly, but. Uh. He just decided to do that, apparently."
Marinette giggled, unable to help finding it funny now that she wasn't being taken off guard and manhandled up the stairs. "He decided to interpret that as him needing to be a human elevator, apparently. I would have preferred a heads-up, sure, but I know he was just trying to help."
"I think he forgot that even if I'm used to him picking me up and moving me around without warning, not everyone is," Adrien said with a sigh. He stepped around Marinette, pulling out a chair for her so that she could sit down. "Really, I'm sorry about that. We can find some other way for you to get back down the stairs later on."
"It's fine," Marinette insisted. She sat down, scooting up to Adrien's desk. "So, what are we doing first- photos or schoolwork?"
"We should probably at least get out our homework," Adrien admitted. "And get started on it. That way, if Nathalie sticks her head in, we can claim that we've been working on it the whole time. Or that we're just taking a quick break from studying."
Somehow, Marinette doubted that Nathalie would fall for that. Whether or not she would let it slide, though, was another matter. Sometimes it seemed like she was willing to help and cover for Adrien, while other times she ratted him out and interfered with Adrien's attempts to get together with his friends. Which way she went seemed to depend on the day.
How Adrien put up with that, Marinette just didn't know. Having to be around adults who blew hot or cold at random had to be super hard.
It didn't take long for them to set up their things, and sure enough, Marinette heard the quiet click of a door as they started work, giving away that someone- Nathalie, probably- had just poked her head in to make sure that they were actually working. Adrien glanced over at the door at the same time, and Marinette knew that he must have heard it as well.
And she had thought that her parents were nosy. At least they wouldn't care if they were actually doing homework or not.
"We should definitely try to study together more often," Adrien said appreciatively as they worked their way through their science and math homework. "It goes really fast with both of us. If I had to work through these problems on my own, I think it would probably take twice as long."
Marinette smiled and nodded. She had been about to say the same, honestly. When she and Adrien hit a snag with a concept that they weren't quite getting, they would either both toss ideas back and forth until they had figured out what they were messing up, or they would dive into their books and onto the computer to find something that explained the concept better if they really had no idea where to start. They hadn't really worked together that much before, so the ease with which they clicked and worked as a team was- well, a little surprising.
Surprising, but definitely not a bad thing. If they were really productive, then hopefully Nathalie would let them hang out together more often, without so much hassle.
"Okay, we have probably fifteen minutes before Nathalie checks in again," Adrien murmured seconds after they heard the third click of their study session. He paused, listening closely, then pushed his chair across the floor to grab a small photo album that had been tucked alongside his desk. "So my mom made this photo album. It's a secret from my father, technically. It's all of the photos that he hates, for whatever reason, but my mom thought were cute or funny."
Marinette's eyes got wide. That- that sounded like the kind of this that Mr. Agreste would probably destroy, if he found out that the album existed. "And it's not been- well, destroyed or anything?"
"No, I keep it hidden. And I have digital copies, in case anything ever happens to it. I don't think my dad would mess with it, though. My mom thought it was cute, and he-" Adrien paused, swallowing. "I don't want to think that he would destroy anything that she liked so much. But it's better safe than sorry with him, honestly." He took a moment, then scooted back to Marinette's side. "There's- uh, okay, there's a lot of baby photos in here, honestly. Just ignore that. But further along..." He flipped through the pages, and Marinette had to restrain herself from trying to catch a peek of what Baby Adrien (or Toddler Adrien) had looked like. If he wanted her to know, then he wouldn't be flipping through so fast. "Aha! Here's the toga."
Marinette took one look and had to clap a hand over her mouth to keep from bursting out with laughter. "Oh my god. That- how did you not trip over that?"
"Okay, the first iteration left something to be desired," Adrien admitted. "To be fair, I was nine, and I had no idea how togas were meant to work. And the sheets on my bed- well, I have a big bed. And I wasn't a particularly big nine-year-old."
"The first iteration?" Marinette asked, puzzled. She frowned. "I thought your father would have put a stop to it."
"He tried, but it wasn't like I was just dressing up for fun," Adrien told her. "My mom pointed out that I had a reason for it, and then she got me a smaller bedsheet and looked up how to tie a toga. And she had access to safety pins and everything, so..."
He turned the page, and- oh, that wasn't fair. How did Adrien look so good while wearing- well, just a bedsheet with a belt around it?
"If Father had taken any longer to make cast-friendly pants, my mom and I were planning on ordering some kilts in my size," Adrien told Marinette. "Not for wearing out, necessarily, but to bug Father a bit." He laughed. "I kind of regret that I didn't get to do that, actually. I would have loved trying on a kilt."
...well, now Marinette wanted to make him one. It would be an interesting experience, and maybe she would learn some skills that she hadn't really dealt with before. But that also ran a very real risk of ticking Gabriel Agreste off, and considering that she had already ticked Audrey Bourgeois off this year...
Maybe that was a project for another time. Or at the very least, a project that could not be shown off beyond the confines of her house.
"Maybe Father got mad, but when Mom was here and made sure that he wasn't taking it out on me, it was fun," Adrien told her. "He might huff and puff but there wouldn't be any consequences."
Unlike there would be now went unsaid. Marinette had to wince on his behalf, because that had to be an unpleasant change to get used to.
"Anyway, there were a couple days of togas, and then I had my new cast-friendly pants to wear," Adrien finished, flipping the page. It was another page of him posing in different togas, each made up slightly differently. There were different belts, then a couple brooches to hold the toga together, then a deep red one that was clearly not meant to be worn out, considering that the back dragged out like a royal cape. "But it was fun while it lasted, and it was probably- no, definitely- the best part of having a broken leg."
"There's not much good about being on crutches," Marinette agreed. "I mean, Lila's gone, so that's good. But if I could have just, like, sprained my ankle and gotten a few bruises instead but gotten the same results, that would have been so much better."
Adrien grinned, clearly about to respond, but a noise near the door had them scrambling to hide the photo album and turn back to their books before they could be caught. When they heard the telltale click a minute later, they exchanged conspiratorial glances. Adrien's was tinged with an impish smile, and Marinette was sure that she was no better.
Being around Adrien like this was fun. Marinette had gotten tastes of it before, of course- it was hardly as though she and Adrien never hung out together by themselves- but it had never quite been this side of him, impish and rule-bending and all poorly-concealed grins and twinkling eyes and muffled laughter.
And Marinette wanted to see it more. It was easy to be relaxed around Adrien when he was like this. They could joke around and just hang out and not be thinking too much.
Or maybe she was just more relaxed because she wasn't thinking about asking him out. That had been her mom's theory when they had been discussing Marinette's crush and how it was going a few evenings back, and Marinette had to admit that she made a good point.
(Also, her mom seemed to know a lot more about Marinette's attempts to ask Adrien out than Marinette remembered telling. She suspected that Tikki might be telling her a lot, which- well, normally Marinette would be mad about that, but honestly, Alya could have told them just as much.)
They had brought up another very good point when they said that it might not be the best idea to date while she was still fighting Hawkmoth and Mayura. Apparently her parents had heard quite a bit from Alya complaining about Marinette missing out ("forgetting") on things that they had planned, and translating that to a dating setting...
Well, it wouldn't be a good idea with anyone. And with Adrien, who was already regularly let down by his father promising to show up to things and then simply not bothering- well, it would be borderline cruel, even if she didn't mean to leave him on his own.
Focusing strictly on being friends for the time being would definitely be better, Marinette decided as she re-focused on her work. Next to her, Adrien was tapping a faint beat on his notebook with the end of his pencil as he focused on the next question. She didn't want to lose Adrien's friendship because of her duties as Ladybug pulling her away unexpectedly. Once Hawkmoth was defeated- well, then she would have the time to dedicate to a relationship.

Marinette glanced over at her phone as it let out the oh-so-familiar chirp signaling an akuma attack, then up at her teacher. Ms. Bustier didn't appear to have heard (though maybe she was just choosing to ignore it, considering how many students had that alert on all the time), so Marinette slipped her phone out of her purse and checked the update.
Oh. That- that looked like a difficult akuma. It was flitting back and forth quick as lightning, too fast to spot anything on it that might be the akumatized item.
It would be hard to fight that, even with Second Chance. She just couldn't give out instructions fast enough to keep ahead of the akuma. Marinette puzzled over that for a second, then quickly excused herself to the bathroom and made a break for it, hopping to a supply closet in the hallway instead. One transformation and a Portal later, and Marinette was back at her house.
"Are you getting more Miraculous?" Sass asked as Marinette hopped across her temporary room to the box where she had hidden the Miracle Box. Kaalki was perched on her shoulder, inhaling a quick snack to recharge, and didn't seem at all bothered. "Or are just fighting from here instead of the closet because it's nicer?"
"I want another Miraculous," Marinette told him, pulling the box out. "I thought that the Bee might be a good choice. And- well, I'm not sure if I should give it to Chat Noir or to my mom. In theory, we'll only need one Sting. And if I give it to Chat Noir and he misses, we have Second Chance. But if my mom gets it..." She frowned, pausing with her hand hovering over the Bee's comb. "Actually, Sass, would giving my mom a second Miraculous be a good idea? Master Fu didn't tell us about the fusions right away, so is it not a good idea to have newer Miraculous holders fuse like that?"
"Yeah, it's- well, sometimes it's fine, but new users do have a tendency to tire more easily with fusions," Sass told her. "They're not as acclimated to the magic, and for it to double and for the powers to be used multiple times..."
Marinette winced. "We'll have Chat Bee again, then. I don't want to risk my mom falling ill."
Sass smiled. "That's probably wise."
With that decided, Marinette scooped up the comb and called for Kaalki. With a flash, she transformed, immediately grabbing her horseshoe to find where her mom was. Coccinelle was on the move, which would make catching her next to impossible, but Chat Noir was paused in one place, clearly waiting for instructing while staying a safe distance back from the akuma.
Well. She would just go to him, then. It would be nice to see Chat Noir in person again, even if- well, even if it was only going to be for a few seconds while she handed over the Miraculous.
"And that's a nice flat rooftop, too," Tianma murmured to herself, narrowing her eyes at her map one more time to make sure that she went to the right spot. "Okay, portal!"
The portal shimmered into being in front of her, and Tianma hopped forward on her Miraculous-provided crutches, making sure to jump high enough to clear the (thankfully low) threshold of the portal. She had barely landed when suddenly, her feet were off the ground once more.
"Bugaboo!" Chat Noir exclaimed in her ear, clearly delighted, and Tianma breathed a sigh of relief. He had startled her, but to be fair, she had returned the favor with the sudden unannounced portal popping out of nowhere behind him. "What are you doing out? Is your mom not coming? How's your leg? I didn't expect to see you today! How are you doing?"
"Slow down, kitty," Tianma ordered with a giggle. "My mom is coming, I just had to deliver the Bee. This akuma is super fast, and I think the only way for us to take them down fast is if we immobilize it. And my mom was already headed out when I made that decision, so I came. And my leg is- well, it's healing. Still."
"I wish it would heal faster," Chat Noir told the top of her head. "I mean, the short fights are great and all, and your mom is super cool and helpful, but it's not the same."
"I can't wait to get out again, either," Tianma admitted. "Being stuck at home and not being able to do everything that I'm used to- it sucks. And I have another three weeks before the cast comes off! Initially I had been hoping to have a lot shorter recovery time than more people because Tikki had said that the Miraculous makes us heal faster, but the doctor doesn't know that, so of course he's not going to look at my leg early." She had made that particular realization only a couple days ago, and- well, she still wasn't over it.
Marinette knew that the doctor had said six weeks, but she had really been hoping that Tikki would be able to get her recovery time down to, say, four and a half. Or five. Anything but six.
"Well, it's still going to help you get back out faster," Chat Noir told her, and Tianma pulled back enough to be able to look up at him in confusion. He raised an eyebrow at her. "Bugaboo, you know that just because the cast comes off, that doesn't automatically mean that you're 100% again, right? There's supposed to be several weeks of recovery afterwards, and the bone is still healing. If you didn't have Tikki's healing, you probably wouldn't be cleared to go back to normal physical activity again right away." He shrugged. "Or at least that was what I had happen when I fractured my leg as a kid. It sucked, and it- well, it was just super hard to remember that I still had to be careful after the cast came off."
Tianma's shoulders slumped. She- well, she had been counting down the days to when the cast would come off and she could go out as Ladybug again, but clearly she was being a bit too optimistic. "Oh."
"But like I said, Tikki should help with that part," Chat Noir added. "Maybe she can tell you more later?"
Tianma nodded. She would be questioning her kwami later on for sure. She didn't want to go forward with unrealistic expectations, so- well, she might as well find out sooner rather than later. "Yeah." She let out a long sigh and then, with a start, realized that- well, she hadn't just come out to chat with Chat Noir. She thrust the Bee's box at him. "Oh! Here's the Miraculous. Sass said that it would be better for you to do the combo- I thought maybe my mom could do it, so she would have multiple power uses, but Sass said that she's not used to the magic enough to do combos."
"Right, okay- Pollen, Plagg, combine!" Chat Noir called, and Tianma flinched at the bright flash of the transformation. He grinned at her- and oh, the jagged yellow stripes across his normal outfit would never stop being strange. "I'll do my best."
Tianma nodded, hopping back towards the portal. "Stay safe! And just send the Bee back with my mom. I don't want to have to recharge Kaalki an extra time."
"Of course." Chat Bee paused, then reached out for her, a light hand resting on her shoulder. "Hey, do- do you think we can hang out sometime? Like, for an evening? Not romantically or anything," he added hastily. "But I miss seeing you. It's not the same to just be hearing you."
Tianma didn't even have to consider that before she was nodding, completely on board with the idea. She missed Chat Noir, too, and- well, he was one of her best friends. They didn't get to hang out outside of the suit. "Maybe over the weekend? Not Friday or Saturday, because I don't want to disrupt your patrols with Coccinelle, but Sunday?"
Chat Noir nodded furiously. "Yeah! I'll bring some food- actually, you know what, I'll figure out the details with your mom," he said hastily when a loud explosion went off in the distance. "We've got an akuma to deal with. Back through the portal you go!"
With that, Chat Noir lent her a hand- or, rather, a paw- back through the portal into her room. It closed up behind her, and she detransformed and called on Sass.
"All right, down to business," Vipera announced, settling herself at her desk and getting set up as quickly as possible. She had spent far more time than she had planned with Chat Noir, and now she really had to get going if she wanted to be prepared for the battle.
Still, she smiled. Sunday couldn't come soon enough.
Tumblr media
Ladybug (or, rather, Horsebug) Portaled to their secluded rooftop five minutes early, hauling a backpack stuffed with pastries that her parents had packed for her, plus an entire quiche that her mom had made specifically for them. Unsurprisingly, Chat Noir was already there, spreading out a large blanket and fussing with making sure that it was just so.
"I brought more food," Ladybug announced, stumbling a little as she hopped though the portal. Chat Noir was by her side in an instant, steadying her and making sure that none of her weight landed on her bad leg. "And my mom made quiche, she said it's one of your favorites-"
"Ooh, she's the best!"
"I'll not ask how she knows it's one of your favorites," Ladybug added with a sigh as Chat Noir helped her sit down on the ground- or, well, on a pillow on the ground. She released Kaalki and beamed at the kwami in thanks before turning her attention to her partner. "It seems like she knows quite a bit."
Chat Noir winced at that. "I- yeah. I know I've maybe said too much to her about secret identity stuff, but it's just really easy to talk to her, you know? It's kind of like having a mom again- sorry, sorry, pretend I didn't say that bit," Chat Noir added hastily. "But it's nice to have a parental figure that actually listens, so maybe I talk a little more than I should."
...Ladybug was really glad that Tikki had mentioned that she and Chat Noir might be able to reveal their secret identities at some point soonish. If she hadn't- well, Ladybug would probably be panicking about the additional accidental information.
"Honestly, part of it might also just be that- well, what are the chances that she would actually know me?" Chat Noir asked. "Civilian me, that is. She's an adult, she wouldn't run in, like, the same social circles anyway."
"Except my mom known pretty much everyone I do," Ladybug reminded him. "She knows my classmates, she still recognizes my former classmates, she knows my friends from out of class, she even knows a lot of kids . She's not one of those adults that don't pay any attention to kids."
Chat Noir considered that. "...oh."
"I've told her that she needs to be more careful with what information she mentions to me," Ladybug told him, already hating the way his ears were starting to droop. If having an adult who would listen to him made that much of a difference to her partner- well, that could potentially save him from akumatization, couldn't it? That was super-important. "Because she was assuming at first that you and I talked about the same stuff, so she would just refer to it like common knowledge. So she's not going to accidentally tell me anything now. And..." Ladybug worried her lip for a moment, then forged on. "And she- she already knows my identity. She knows that she has to be careful to not get akumatized. If she figures out yours, too, I suppose it wouldn't be the end of the world. It would just be like how Master Fu knew about both of us, right?"
Chat Noir's entire being brightened, and Ladybug knew that she had made the right call. "I- right! Right, yeah, that- that was not the way I thought this conversation was going to go."
Ladybug had to laugh at that. "Honestly, me neither, but I know how much it's helped to be able to talk to my parents about everything in my life. I have Tikki, sure, but it's different, somehow. Tikki sometimes doesn't understand stuff in my normal life very well. And I don't think it's fair of me to deny you that."
Chat Noir pulled her into a wordless hug. Ladybug hugged him back, resting her cheek against his shoulder. She couldn't help but smile, completely content where she was.
"If I ever need to have a replacement Chat Noir, your parents would definitely be my go-to first choice," Chat Noir told her. "I mean, of course I'd rather be out there myself, but if I sprained my ankle really badly, or- heaven forbid- broke something- except I would have to know who they are, wouldn't I? There goes that idea."
"We could make it work," Ladybug told him. "I don't know how, but we could." She didn't mention Tikki's comment, not quite yet. It didn't seem like the time to.
Maybe once she returned to superheroing full-time then she could bring it up. Now, it just seemed too early and like she might be getting her partner's hopes up too early.
It didn't take long for them to settle down and unpack the food they had brought, arranging it across the blanket so that they could see everything. There was a lot- there was no way that they would be able to finish it all- but that just meant that there were plenty of tasty-looking choices. Chat Noir handed Ladybug a plate, and they dug in.
It was maybe a little strange, since- well, she and Chat Noir didn't really do this, hanging out and eating dinner. Patrols- when they did them, when they had the time to spare- doubled as exercise and training. They sometimes came out for speeches or events or dedications, but that was rare and they didn't really chat during those. It wouldn't be smart, not with reporters lurking nearby and ready to pounce on anything personal the superheroes said. And during akuma attacks, obviously they weren't going to be sprawling out on a rooftop and mindlessly chatting.
It was nice, though. Maybe- if they had the time- they could do this more often after her leg was back to normal.
"How's the Snake treating you?" Chat Noir asked as they finished up their slices of quiche and turned their attention to the petits fours that her parents had packed. "I don't think we've asked in a while. We got a few fights in with the Second Chance reset, and- well, now it's normal. But I have to imagine that it's super-tough on you."
"It's gotten easier," Ladybug told him. "I've gotten better at it, rather. It seems like I don't have to reset as often, because I've gotten good at spotting openings and incoming attacks. I've gotten Sass to give me more screens, so that helps. I have more angles to work with and watch."
"You're a regular Mission Control," Chat Noir said admiringly. "I couldn't do it. It sounds super hard."
Ladybug could only shrug sheepishly. "I guess. But I've gotten used to it, and it's a bit of a mental challenge, too. And I like a challenge." And she really, really did. It was like playing the world's fastest-paced puzzle game crossed with a fighting game.
"But aren't all of the resets hard on you? Like, seeing things going wrong again and again?" Chat Noir hadn't touched his petits four, instead fiddling with the end of his tail. Ladybug frowned at the question, puzzled.
Nothing had really gone terribly wrong during the fights when she was the Snake. Most of the time, it was just things not going nearly as well as they could have. So she said as much.
Chat Noir seemed really relieved by that.
Their conversation wandered from there, touching on the different battles and what they had seen from their perspective of the fight, then talking about things going on in the city. At one point, their conversation drifted towards the non-Miraculous side of their life, but they quickly backed off and changed the subject before they could say anything too identifying.
Maybe Tikki had said that they were getting closer to a reveal, but there was no point in running the risk of an early reveal before they were ready just because they got carried away with talking and teasing each other.
"Ah, it's getting late," Chat Noir exclaimed after he went to check his baton for something and caught sight of the time. "We'd better pack up and go home. I'm glad you could come out."
Ladybug smiled, leaning forward as much as she could to help pack up the leftovers. Her parents had definitely over-packed, and Chat Noir had brought more than they could eat, too. "I'm glad, too. This was fun. And it was nice to get out in this suit, too." She plucked at the red supersuit, smiling at the familiar outfit. "I know I've been transforming with the other kwami, and of course it's not exactly the same as my normal transformation, what with the crutches and the cast, but..." She trailed off, not sure how to explain it. Fortunately, Chat Noir knew exactly what she was talking about.
"Yeah, transforming with different Miraculous... it just isn't the same. I can't put my finger on exactly why, because- well, it's a strength boost, and you can just feel the magic, but it's not quite the same magic. It's like..." Chat Noir floundered for a second, his brow creasing. "Like if you're eating something, and the cook forgot one of the spices, or added a new one. But not like a strong spice. Like a really subtle one, and you'd only pick it up if you had it a lot."
Ladybug giggled, reaching forward to poke Chat Noir's stomach. "Talking about food already? You just ate!"
"There's food in front of me, that's why I thought of it!" Chat Noir protested with a laugh, batting her hand away. "Not because I was hungry!"
Ladybug giggled again before sitting back, content to let Chat Noir deal with packing up the food that was out of her reach. "I suppose it's a decent enough analogy. It's something subtle in the magic, not something obvious like the suit itself."
"Speaking of which- your Horse outfit is adorable," Chat Noir told her, pausing in his packing to beam over at her. "That tunic top over leggings? Very fashionable yet also leaning towards comfortable-at-home chic."
Ladybug beamed. "Thanks! I wanted to try something different. My transformation as Vipera has the same silhouette, actually. It's really comfy. And, well, it's not like I'm running and flipping around or anything. I can have a little fun with the design."
"D'you think you'd incorporate any of that design into your Ladybug outfit once you come back?" Chat Noir asked, clearly curious. "I mean, I can't see that particular design getting in your way while fighting. And it's cute."
Ladybug muffled a giggle. He had already mentioned that, which... well, was a clear giveaway that he wanted to see that sort of outfit more. "Maybe? As long as the tunic would stay down. And I would keep the higher neckline that I have now, just for safety reasons." Which honestly might throw off the composition of the entire outfit, since right now, with both the Horse and the Snake, she had a wider square neckline. Getting rid of that would get rid of the loose look that the tunic had. And- "Oh, and the sleeves aren't great for fighting. They're too loose. So- well, I guess that version of the Ladybug suit will have to wait until Hawkmoth is gone."
"Ooh." Chat Noir considered that, then smiled over at her. "Another motivation to take Hawkmoth down as soon as possible!"
"Flirt," Ladybug muttered, her cheeks red. Chat Noir just grinned at her, passing over the Horse Miraculous before helping her- or rather, lifting her- to her feet. "Thanks."
"Only the best for my lady!" Chat Noir chirped cheerfully. He grinned over at her as she put the Horse Miraculous on, the second part of her transformation washing over her. "Sweet dreams, Ladybug."
Ladybug smiled as she called on Portal. "You too, Chat Noir."
With a careful hop, Ladybug left the rooftop behind and landed back in her family's kitchen, her Portal closing up behind her. The basket of leftovers got unpacked into the fridge- except for a couple things set aside for the kwamis- and then Marinette headed to bed, unable to keep from yawning widely.
"It looks like you've had a good time," Tikki commented as Marinette washed up for bed. "Was it nice to see Chat Noir in person again?"
"It was great," Marinette told her, unable to help smiling. "I forgot how fun it is to banter with him. It's not a dynamic that I really have with any of my other friends, and I missed it." She tugged out her pigtails and started combing her hair before pausing mid-stroke. "It seemed different from when I last saw Chat Noir, though. When I last properly saw Chat Noir, before my leg broke, that is. He wasn't really flirting as much- or no, that's not right," she corrected herself. "He wasn't flirting seriously, that's the difference. We always flirt and tease, that's just how we are, but he wasn't trying to confess or ask me out or anything."
A smile flashed across Tikki's face before she hastily hid it. "He's growing up, maybe."
Marinette hummed in response, starting up her combing again. "Maybe. Whatever it is- well, I liked it. I like spending time with him."
"Do you think you're going to do another dinner together before the cast comes off?" Tikki asked. Marinette thought about it, then shrugged.
"If we have the time, maybe. We'd have to end earlier, though- it's super late right now, and I have school tomorrow."
Tikki smiled at that. "So yes?"
"Yeah." Marinette finished combing her hair and started tying it back up for the night, a small smile on her face. "Yeah, I'd like that."
Tumblr media
The next morning, Marinette's phone started ringing before her alarm even went off. She groaned, swatting for it blearily, and it shut off. Moments later, it started up again, and this time Marinette sat up properly, picking up the phone and squinting at it to see who on earth was calling her at this time in the morning.
It was Alya. With a groan- she and Chat Noir really should have headed home sooner, she was exhausted- Marinette picked up. "Hello? What's-"
"Marinette! Marinette! Have you heard? Ladybug's been spotted! She's finally back!"

Blueberry Peach (Adrien AUGreste) Part 9: Emilie

--------
Even the appearance of his father on set couldn't dampen Adrien's spirits as he waited for Marinette to return. He knew she wasn't thrilled at the thought of modelling, but she was willing to do it and he loved her for it. Sometimes it was hard to model with people he didn't know; some of the models could get very grabby or touchy in ways he wasn't comfortable with. Knowing that for once he wouldn't have to worry about that was really nice. In fact, he was almost grateful to that other model for not bothering to show up!
Or, well, he would have been if it hadn't been for the building tension on set.
"How long do you think it'll be before they get into a fight?" Chloé said from right behind him, and Adrien jumped.
"Umm... I'm not taking a sucker's bet," he said, glancing over at Audrey and Gabriel. The two of them didn't get along very well, so a fight - or at least, some tense words - was probably inevitable. Neither one of them was used to dealing with people who didn't bow down to them. And in Gabriel's case, this was one of the rare times he actually bothered to show up somewhere in person since Émilie had passed. That in itself had probably put his father in a terrible mood.
Chloé smiled humorlessly. "You're going to have a rough time with making them both happy, and now you have to deal with Marinette's incompetence."
"Chloé," Adrien chided. "Marinette isn't incompetent. She'll be new at this, that's all. At least I know that the two of us work well together." He looked at Chloé meaningfully, confident that both their teamwork as Ladybug and Chat Noir and their bond were going to give him and Marinette an edge.
"Right," Chloé said doubtfully, but she didn't say anything else, so Adrien decided to take it as a win.
He stood up as Marinette appeared, looking composed but with her nerves high enough to make Adrien feel anxious too. Part of her hair had been pulled up into a ponytail, with the rest falling freely around her shoulders in loose curls. Like Adrien, she was wearing a lot more make-up than she usually did, as she would have looked pale and washed out under the harsh lighting otherwise. She was wearing a beautiful blue dress that perfectly matched her eyes; the dress had a modest neckline with an empire waist, fitting tightly beneath the bust before flowing out around Marinette's hips.
'You look amazing,' Adrien thought.
Marinette flushed with pleasure. 'Thanks. I can't believe how pretty this dress is,' she thought happily, lightly brushing her fingers over the dress. As she got closer, Adrien realized that the dress had two layers. The bottom layer was dark blue, and the top was a paler blue, almost white. The interplay of the two colors as she moved was very interesting.
"Alright! Let's have our models on set!" Vincent shouted. "Everyone else, out!"
Adrien extended his arm to his soulmate and escorted Marinette onto the set, pushing waves of calming comfort in her direction. He thought, 'It'll be okay, Mari. Really. All you have to do is focus on me.'
'Easier said than done,' Marinette thought, swallowing. Beneath the make-up, her face was pale. He could feel her fingers trembling a bit where her hand rested on his arm.
"Let's start with the meeting," Vincent said.
"The meeting?" Marinette whispered.
"Pretend like we don't know each other," Adrien whispered back. He hated to leave her side when she was so apprehensive, but it had to be done. He moved a few feet away and angled his body partially to the side, facing the camera.
"Adrien, lift your chin!" Vincent said. "You, girl -"
"Marinette," Adrien supplied.
"Marinette, I want grace. You are effortless. You have no cares in this world!"
'What does that even mean?! I have all the cares!' Marinette thought indignantly, and Adrien choked on a laugh.
'Just pretend that you're Ladybug,' he thought back. 'Pretend that you're - that you're out for a fun night with me, and all we have to worry about is running around the rooftops. We've just beaten an akuma, and everything is good for just a couple of minutes.' He tried to remember what that felt like and projected it across their bond as best he could.
Slowly but surely, Marinette's nerves eased, and her confidence began to grow. By the time the two of them were actually able to interact, Adrien was pleased to see that she was actually smiling and meant it.
“No! No, no, no!”
‘Shit,’ Marinette thought.
Audrey stalked out onto the set and pointed at them. “What is this?!”
Adrien and Marinette looked at each other blankly.
“Um, what?” Marinette said finally.
“The colors in this photoshoot are supposed to be blue and cream,” Audrey snapped. “What is that?!” She jabbed a finger at Marinette.
Specifically, at Marinette’s ears.
‘She means my earrings,’ Marinette thought, horrified.
Adrien opened his mouth and then closed it, speechless.
Finally, Marinette squeaked out, “Um – they’re, um, they’re family heirlooms?”
“Take them off!” Audrey commanded. “They’re ruining the shot!”
“They can’t be that bad,” Adrien said, turning to Vincent in hopes of support.
But Vincent was shaking his head. “The red stands out too much.” His expression was full of disapproval, and Adrien’s stomach twisted. He knew how hard it was when things had to be edited out afterwards. He was frankly shocked that the stylists had let Marinette out here with her earrings in the first place. Maybe they’d hoped no one would notice?
“And you!” Audrey said, turning next on Adrien. “I don’t remember there being a ring on your hand!”
Adrien tensed and looked at his hand. It was true that the silver of his ring stood out starkly against the soft cream of his jacket and pants, but –
“Pére, I always wear my ring,” he said, looking at his father.
Gabriel’s expression was like stone. “That’s not a Gabriel original. It should not be in the photoshoot.”
“Take them off,” Audrey ordered.
‘Adrien, we can’t,’ Marinette thought, panicking.
Adrien didn’t know what to do. He’d get in trouble if he refused – and if Marinette stepped down, the whole photoshoot would fall apart –
“I’ll keep them.”
They both turned, shocked, to find Chloé standing right behind them. Her hands were outstretched.
“It’s okay,” she said, meeting first Adrien’s eyes and then Marinette’s.
Adrien swallowed, his heart thumping. ‘Mari?’
‘I – I don’t know,’ Marinette thought.
‘It’s up to you,’ Adrien thought, but the only other alternative was Marinette deciding not to do it. Her outfit didn’t even have pockets, and neither did Adrien’s for that matter. Hiding their miraculous on them would ruin the fit of the clothes; Adrien knew from experience that even the slightest wrinkle would be cause for a temper tantrum. And it wasn’t like they could leave their miraculous in Marinette’s purse with no one to watch them.
Slowly, Marinette reached up and took off her earrings. She hesitated before putting them both in Chloé’s right hand. So Adrien slid his ring off his finger and put it in Chloé’s left hand; he couldn’t be sure, but he thought he felt the moment when Plagg disappeared as a result.
Chloé closed her hands over both miraculous, and then brought her hands to her chest. Cupping the miraculous protectively.
“What are we waiting for? We’re losing time!” Vincent boomed.
“We’re behind schedule! This is ridiculous!” Audrey said, storming off set. Chloé followed, her hands still pressed to her chest, but stopped a short distance away from everyone else and within easy eyesight of Adrien and Marinette. Close enough so that, if something went wrong, she would be able to get to them easily.
Marinette still watched her anxiously as she thought, ‘This is such a bad idea.’
‘It’ll go fast,’ Adrien thought, grabbing her hand and pulling her close as Vincent shouted directions. He tried to ignore the unnatural nakedness of his finger and focused on smiling lovingly at his partner.

Haven DVD Commentaries: 5.18 - Wild Card
Commentary with Brian Millikin and Nick Parker, co-writers for the episode
I love these guys, they have so much to say ...
BM: So this was a tricky one. When we wound up getting assigned it, we were like; Oh boy. There was so much exposition to get in. And this was always going to be a bit of a turning point in the season. We knew that 5.14 would set up the shroud, and 15 and 16 would be living in Haven with the shroud and seeing how tough life was. And then 17 was always going to be a stand-alone episode, it was shot by itself. Lucas Bryant directed it and it was great. And that was more about Audrey and Nathan - a bit of a pause to deal with them. But then we’ve got 18 and 19 that were shot together, and we knew that these would be the two episodes to really launch us into the Croatoan story for the rest of the season.
BM: And we knew that this would be the last epsiode for Charlotte. NP: And that’s something that was tough about this episode but also fun to tackle, because we knew she was going to die at the end of this episode, and when we were first conceiving the episode we did not know that we should be coming back for 19, so we had to have a lot of emotional moments. This scene right here showing that her and Dwight are back together. We had to have a lot of emotional moments for her character so that when she bites it at the end, it’s powerful. BM: Yeah we always knew that at the end of 18 Charlotte would be killed by Croatoan. And Charlotte and Dwight were on the rocks in between 5A and 5B, but we wanted to get them back together and see them happy together again, and this is the payoff. I mean it’s sad it’s the same episode she’s going to die - it’s a bit like a horror movie where the people who have sex are the ones who get killed. And we knew we were going to open with the two of them in bed having this tender moment, because we knew that we were going to end with her dead. Which was sad because we really liked Laura Mennell, everyone did, but it was always … NP: That was how many episodes we had her for. BM: Yeah it was just the ten episodes that we had, and that’s just the nature of actor deals but it happened like that because we knew we didn’t want the character around that much longer. It’s a little bit of the Obi-Wan syndrome, that you get your answers from these people who know a lot and then at a certain point you need to dispatch with them (kind of like Garland Wuornos in the first season) so that your other characters can step up. If she was around, then she takes a bit away from what Audrey and Nathan and Dwight are left to do. So from the day we created here in 5.08, we always knew that she was going to be dying. But she was a great addition to the show. But we also knew that we needed a Trouble in the episode. NP: That was another tough thing, that this had to be, in some ways, more of a traditional Trouble of the Week episode. BM: Yes, well the dictum that we had was to have a normal Trouble for the first half of the episode, but then to reveal that this Trouble had been instigated by Croatoan. Because at this point we’ve had to dispatch with the typical Trouble of the Week to an extent. The situations that we’re dealing with, they need to start coming from our bad guy so that he’s active in doing these things. Especially because he was going to kill Charlotte in this episode. So it was a bit of a tough one. I remember us all sitting down to decide which Trouble to include and the Tarot card Trouble was one that we had been talking about for years and years. And it wound up working really well in this episode. NP: Yeah it’s fun when we can go to the Trouble Bank and pull something out, that’s been an idea that’s been bouncing around for a while, and then put a particular spin on it. And we really, really dug in on the research for the Tarot, because it’s such an established … BM: Because you’re a humongous Tarot card nerd? NP: Fair enough. But also because it’s such an established mythology … BM: Sure NP: … and there’s so much text and information out there. We wanted it to be true to the Tarot, but also dramatically interesting for a television show. BM: It was a real tough push and pull. Because we knew what we needed the Tarot cards to do to our characters. Sometimes before we knew what Tarot card to be, so we had to retrofit it a little bit - and change it up somewhat. So it was a not-ideal situation and I know it was a real struggle for you, because you’re a purist. But most TV shows will just make up Tarot cards. Or they’ll say, for instance, that the death card means death when it doesn’t really. So we endevoured to not succumb to too much of that. I think we landed somewhere in the middle. NP: Somewhere in the middle. I mean we couldn’t do the traditional seven card cross reading, we couldn’t go into the full detail. BM: No, that would be a six hour episode. NP: So it’s a simplified version but we do end up being able to work in both the major and minor arcana. It was fun. BM: Yeah and I think something that attracted us to the concept was having different cards for different characters, and Croatoan being able to draw more cards for more characters, but also the idea of, what in the room we called Russian Roulette. That we would get to a place where the only way out was to keep going forward in the game, and to draw more cards and just hope for the best. That  was really appealing, particularly to Matt McGuinness, our show runner.
[As Dwight and Nathan find the second body] NP: Interesting fact here; that shoreline looks different from any other shoreline you’ve ever seen in Haven because this was no longer shot in Chester, Nova Scotia. This and episode 19 were our first episodes in our new home for season 5B; Halifax. BM: Yeah 17 was the last episode we shot before moving to Halifax. And also one of the most beautiful, so props to Lucas Bryant. But this I think was one of the first days shooting in Halifax and we really endeavoured to find locations (currently out of focus in the background!) that looked a lot like Chester. And it’s not impossible, but a little bit tough. It was a bit easier for these Duke scenes, because the Duke storyline, he’s not in Haven anyway. So that was a lot easier. NP: Ah Kris Lemche. He’s just funny. BM: Yes, Seth Byrne. Super happy that we brought him back again. He was terrific. We knew that 5B was going to be Duke off on his own for a lot of the time. And we had a lot of conversations about; Who is he going to be talking to? We wanted 15 and 16 for him to be out there on his own. And for 17, I think it was always going to be Kris Lemche. We flirted with someone else, whose name I’m probably not allowed to say right now. BM: No, I don’t think you can. But we had talked originally about having Kris Lemche come back to Haven, and so whenever he was leaving at the end of 508, it was very vague. BM: Very vague. He was like; I’m just going to , go … over there NP: I’m just going to step out of this scene, and you may or may not see me later at some indeterminate point in time. But then once we came up with the idea that the shroud doesnt only trap people in Haven, but affects the memories of people outside it, then that allowed us to have … and Kris already has that dry delivery and a good sense of humour, and he was able to handle that very well. So once we started writing those scenes it made perfect sense.
BM: So Duke’s story in this episode was always pretty straightforward. We had set up in 17 that Seth comes to him with his idea of hope, where he might be able to find a cure. And so this would be the episode where he goes to do it, and kind of believes there for a second, and then it turns out to be crap just like everything else. Another dead end. NP: Yeah we wanted to play around with the idea of the old Native healer kind of thing, turn that on it’s head a little bit and turn him into a con artist, basically. BM: Yeah and I don’t know if the con artist thing is that much of a surprise NP: No. BM: But given where it comes in the episode we had hoped that people would maybe think; Wow, I can’t believe that they’re going to actually do the faith healer thing. And then wonder; Well now what’s Duke going to do. And the idea is, that’s what Duke is wondering too.
[Nathan and Dwight and the bronco with its flat tyre] NP: What was fun about this scene was, basically getting them to talk about dating two women from another world. BM: Mother and daughter too. But yeah, for my money, I wish we’d had time to do more stuff like that. But we had so much to do in this episode. There is just a torrent of exposition coming up soon. Which our cast handled super-well. NP: Yeah it’s tough when you know that you’ve got a character who has to die at the end of the episode. And you also know that is your one character who has all the information that you need your other characters to have, it’s tought to get all of that out that quickly with it being, speechy BM: Yeah I mean there were versions of this early on where we didn’t even have a Trouble in this episode and Croatoan was the main threat - but it was too soon. So we needed everyone needed to be going through something here. But we really liked the idea of everyone being affected by the same Trouble in different ways. So it makes it pretty clear that something’s coming after them specifically. NP: And you’ll notice the tattoos on their wrists, we had long conversations about how are we going to know that everyone’s been affected by the same thing. BM: Yeah, how do they know that it’s all the same Trouble NP: And how to represent that. BM: And it was your idea I think - and luckily all of the major Tarot cards all have numbers on them. So everyone could have the same sort of Roman numeral that matches the one on the card. So it was like; That’s a great idea! But where do the numbers go? So then it was this whole debate about where the number should be. I said forehead, but that’s hours of makeup. NP: A little too much. But it was kind of funny with the major vs minor arcana. We needed Audrey to have a slightly different kind of expressed Trouble than the others, so she’s the one that’s affected by the minor arcana rather than the major BM: Well our way of thinking about it was that you have to figure that Croatoan has rigged it. He’s stacked the deck. So he would have known, because - spoiler alert - Croatoan is at the point kind of inside of Dave and possessing him from time to time, he knows everything that Dave knows. So he is aware of the aether they’ve found, and he is aware of what Charlotte and Audrey are trying to do down there. So he chose cards for Audrey and Charlotte that are preventing them from doing what they need to do. NP: Yeah and his goal is not to kill anyone, becuase that could be a simpler thing. BM: That’s true. And we knew from the get go that he wouldn’t want to kill Audrey. We knew about his relationship with Mara and what his ultimate plan is for Audrey, to kind of make lemonade out of the lemon that is Audrey and just have her be his new daughter. Which we liked because it kind of echoed what Charlotte has done; she has taken in Audrey as her daughter, and Croatoan is basically going to do the same thing. Except the problem is that Croatoan is a bad guy.
[As the guy is pretending to draw the demons out of Duke] NP: This is a cool place they ended up filming this. The production design, I appreciate it a lot. BM: Yeah this all worked really well. When we wrote it in that he would cut a vein and it would drip black goo out, I was like; Maybe they’re not going to want to do that. But everyone really responded to it. NP: It worked out. And you know it’s funny, because it feels like a bit of a different show. This feels like magic, whereas the Troubles are expressed ina  bit of a different way. And what I like is that we ended up separating that, and it’s like; this is not how the world works BM: Yeah, and the actor was great here. Good casting. NP: And Kris sells it too.
BM: Ah I forgot Vince and Dave were in this episode. It was important for us to have a little Vince and Dave story in here. For the most part - huge spoiler alert for many other episodes - because we knew that Croatoan had kind of hitched a ride in Dave, and was periodically taking over his body. And that’s why Dave has been losing time, the way everyone did back in the cave. And so we needed that to be in evidence in this episode, but not super obvious that it’s Dave. Because we are going to reveal in the next episode that it’s Dave, so we needed it to be not too obvious here, but obvious enough that it makes sense in the look back. So we knew that we needed just a little Vince and Dave story where they’re poking into what’s going on and finding that they’ve lost time within this episode. And we hoped that if it happens to Vince, Dave and Gloria, maybe it’ll seem like Croatoan just fired a warning shot across their bow. As opposed to what it actually is, which is that they all lost time because Croataon came out from inside Dave and went across town to kill Charlotte. But the it’s a situation that we imagined that Vince has been losing time over and over again, more than anybody. We had versions of that story line where we would discover at the end that Vince and Dave were super addled, their minds were like swiss cheese because they’d lost time every night since… well it’s been a couple weeks now since the season started.
[As Audrey and Charlotte are talking in the cave and Charlotte mentions her father] NP: I gotta say, we kind of gave the actors a tall order here. Because it’s all exposition, but they’re having to act this whole time as though Audrey is going blind, and Charlotte is super weak. And we spent a lot of the VFX budget on the aether swirling around them, so we couldn’t do any VFX with them themselves BM: But I think that moment of them connecting and her telling her about her father is just as effective as any VFX shot NP: Thanks to them. BM: Because as much as we had a Charlotte/Dwight story to tell, it’s also a big deal that Audrey’s about to lose charlotte. And so we wanted for them to have a bit of a story here too, and for this to kind of cap off their relationship that they really came together.
NP: Ah here is Miss Fortuna [the tarot card reader], which is just a tragic name to choose. Lainey Fortuna. But the actor did a great job. BM: Yeah this worked out really well. We knew that she was going to have a big role in the episode. She has to explain the tarot card stuff, so she has to be alive throughout. But because there’s so much Dwight and Charlotte stuff and Audrey and Charlotte stuff going on here, we knew that Nathan was going to wind up dealing with the tarot card of it all, and staying here with Lainey just by the nature of the story. And yeah, galloping hooves, some of this a bit of a literal interpretation of the cards, but it’s kind of accurate. NP: And we kind of wanted to do the more traditional or metaphysical interpretations of the cards for our main characters, and then the people are in evidence, the bodies, are pretty literal interpretations; struck by lightning. BM: My only regret about this really is that we really liked the idea of Nathan’s bad luck. And in some versions of the script we had a lot of comedy really, where he had become an unlucky clutz. NP: Yeah there was door knocker that fell off in his hand, he knocked over an entire table of candles. He was kind of the slapstick comic relief. Whereas Kris Lemche was doing the dry sarcastic stuff. BM: Yeah but we just didn’t have time for it, unfortunately. This episode like so many others, came in long. And it’s kind of brutal what you end up having to cut. Even in the scripts because you have timings and we don’t have time to shoot everything, let alone stuff that’s going to end up being on the cutting room floor anyway. It’s brutal.  And in this case it was almost the funniest parts of the episode that ended up getting cut. NP: Yeah probably. BM: But it happens. And this was a big deal here, what they’re about to realise. This was something we had been working towards for a season and a half, that whoever is causing people to lose time - the No Marks Killer they’re still calling him here - has now come for them.
NP: And another thing about this episode and trying to get everything done is that because this was the first episode up in Halifax, we did not have any of our standing sets. So none of this is happening in the police station or anything like that. That doesn’t happen until 19 when we see the dilapidated station. So this takes place almost entirely on location.
[When Dwight meets Charlotte and Audrey outside the cave] BM: And this was a big scene, with the Croatoan of it all. We had to make sure that Charlotte hadn’t heard that word used before in previous episodes,  because we knew that it would be this episode when we would learn this from her. And we didn’t want her to be alive for too long, frankly, to tell us everything we needed to know. But her idea was not too dissimilar from the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader distinction, that she doesn’t know that Croataon is her late husband. She thinks that Croatoan is the monster that killed her husband. And we needed for her in this episode to realise that they are actually one and the same; that her husband became Croataon. But she needed to realise that kind of without telling anyone until the very end. It was a bit of a tricky proposition, and she had a lot to explain. But Laura Mennell is as good with that stuff as the rest of our cast. NP: Yeah she sells it.
[As Duke is confronting the guy about faking the black blood] BM: This is funny, he is a lot bigger than Eric Balfour is. We always imagined that this would be a little guy, but he totally sells it with his performance. But if they got in a fight, I don’t know. NP: Yeah he’s like twice the size of Eric. But I like that they’re down in North Carolina which ties back to the classic lost colony business which is always fun.  And we had known that we wanted to send him back down there to help tie up some of the lose ends from episodes 5 and 6 when Vince and Dave went down there. That was when they first learnt that there might be some connection between the lost colony myth and what’s happening in Haven, and we knew what it was even back then, that the Big Bad was named Croatoan. But we needed to learn just a little bit more. Both here from Charlotte and also in the next episode with Duke and the mysterious stranger.
[As Charlotte and Audrey talk with Dwight again, outside the cave and he says he’ll stand watch outside] BM: So this is where the episode kind of turned. We had 20 minutes of a normal Haven episode to an extent, and this is where it starts to turn into the end game for the entire season. NP: Yeah and what’s interesting about this episode is that it’s not traditional in the sense that we get to the Troubled person at the end and have to figure out how to solve it - this is like, we found the Troulbed person pretty early on, and it’s about solving it before everyone dies rather than about finding out who it is. BM: Yeah, it’s funny Nathan telling Dwight here that he doesn’t know how to solve Lainey’s Trouble. There had been a scene before this where he was working with Lainey and trying Trouble-whisper her, but it wasn’t working. Her husband was gone, but she was like; totally fine with it. And in the end we just covered it in the conversation there and I think it works. So this had been something that we sold from the get go and the network and our bosses and everybody were all on board. The appeal of the Tarot card ultimately I think was  that we would get to this place where we have no choice but to flip new cards. NP: Yeah and what was the added bad stakes of that was Nathan has terrible bad luck right now.
[Nathan calling to Dwight after they’ve drawn a new card for him, silence for a scary-long time, and then Dwight’s ‘How’s it going?’] *both laugh* BM: I’m glad that worked as well as it did. He totally got it. We were not on set for these episodes. So the script goes up there, you deal with production a couple times, you talk to the director and have the table read, and then you kind of cross your fingers. But we’ve got a great team up there, and Lee Rose is a great director. But you sort of have to wait until you get the dailies a couple days later to see what worked. And most stuff does.
[Duke and Seth find the grave with the Guard symbol] BM: And the idea with this scene here was it was the end of Duke’s sort of wild goose chase, we kind of thought that he would just have to laugh about it. Walter Faraday there [the name on the grave] is a somewhat obscure Dark Tower reference. NP: Yeah it’s basically a mash up of two different characters; Walter and Faraday BM: But there is also a big Tarot card component to the first two Dark Tower books, which we both love, and so Tarot cards had always been on our to-do list for Haven. Not only that but there’s another Dark Tower reference coming towards the end of the episode. NP: And tarot felt very much in the Stephen King universe. So it was fun to finally do that episode that we had talked about doing for years. And production did a great job of making a beautiful set of Tarot cards. BM: Yeah, for legal clearance reasons you have to use your own cards. The art work and everything has to be your own. NP: Or wasn’t there something about the images on the cards are cleared, but the backs of the cards are not. So that was a whole thing. BM: And Lainey had a lot to do in explaining all these cards. But she did a great job. NP: And the Russian Roulette works well. BM: And here in the cave, with Laura Mennell and Emily Rose, we didn’t do them any favours either. We knew going into this that we had set up the idea of this cloud of aether swirling above them. And we’d known for a while that they were going to have to take all of this and turn it into the aether core... NP: They basically have to Use The Force BM: … as part one of building the new Barn. But no one ever talked about how they were actually going to do it. So we got to this point and everyone realised, what do you do? She can’t just click her fingers. So it really became similar to what we’ve seen William do in the past. But it’s a little bit tought. And we are watching this right now without the final VFX, so they are just staring up into space, so I can only hope that it looks good in the end. But I felt so sorry for them as actors because they have to just trust that it’s going to look OK. It’s not unique to our show but I feel sorry for the actors because they have to do some pretty silly stuff sometimes. But they’re selling it, they’re doing a great job. NP: And I think once they have that moment where they hold hands, that brings it all together and that earns it. BM: I’m generally like things to be as least saccarine as possible, but writing this scene I felt that was a moment where that was called for. And it ended up sticking from the first iteration of this story. And becuase we knew that she was going to die, we needed the two of them to accomplish this task together.  And that them reaching out to each other would be the last step in them doing that. And remember we went through so many different designs for what the aether core would look like? NP: Oh so many. BM: And right up to the last minute as well. But I think it ended up working really well.
[As Audrey tells Charlotte her new card was The Lovers] BM: Ah the Lovers bomb. This was one of my favourite things in the episode. Once we came up with the Tarot card idea and were working out what card would be pulled for Charlotte, then it was like; What if it was the Lovers? Because that can be what tells Charlotte the truth about who Croatoan might really be, that’s the moment she puts it all together. And it would land on her face but she wouldn’t say anything - love it. And this scene [as they try to free Dwight from the fence], one of my favourites too, I love that she winds up saying goodbye to Dwight and is going off on a mission. Here she lies to Audrey to get Audrey to get away. I just love it. And I think that all three of them were really good here, especially Adam and Laura. But just in general, maybe it’s me, I’m a sucker for goodbyes. Any time a character has to say goodbye and the other person *doesn’t know that*, I’m in. NP: And she sells it super well. And this is why the devil card was so important in this moment, because Dwight is completely bound, unable to move. Helpless really. BM: Yeah this was why we ended up choosing that card - solely for that moment.
[Audrey walking along with the aether core] NP: This is a bit of a reference to your all time favourite movie. BM: My number one - Back to the Future. I’m a sucker for Marty McFly and the guitar up on the stage. But this was also something that worked with the Tarot cards we had at our disposal. And was achievable for her to be out here by herself. As a scheduling issue, you know, we might have liked for there to be a rock slide, but we didn’t have time to film that
NP: I love Gloria calling Dave Bert and Ernie. BM: And I love the revelation that we get to, that they’ve all been losing time. It’s a big deal. And we’re still trying to keep it [Croatoan’s connection to Dave] a secret from the audience as much as we can. I don’t know if it worked, maybe people see right through it. But it seemed like we could, if the characters believed that they had incurred the wrath of Croatoan because they had got too close. NP: It worked enough to delay it for now, so. I think. I hope.
[As Audrey is disappearing] BM: This was a big moment for us, we had kind of written ourselves into a corner and had realised; Well what if we just have Nathan learn the rules of Tarot card readings and start a new reading entirely? And so many of the things that we end up doing (maybe it’s just you and me?) with Nathan come down to, in a weird way, Nathan’s super power is his faith, and his hope. And so, this is just kind of what he does. And he really saves the day. NP: We try to give Nathan as many of those ‘save the day’ moments as possible. BM: Absolutely. Love Nathan. NP: He’s great. BM: Huge Nathan fans. We ship Nathan here. NP: Or ship Lucas Bryant. I love that guy to death. BM: That’s true. It’s a Nathan-Lucas thing. But it’s true - it seem deceptively simple, but sometimes you just have to ask the right question. NP: And luckily we had Nathan in this scene, because he’s the only one who can really ask that question. BM: Yeah, I mean we’d had much more complicated, involved and strange ways out of this, but this was the simplest and I think wound up being the best version of it. [Lainey on screen: If you cause is just, you can overcome any obstacle] NP: And that’s good platforming for the rest of the season I think BM: We had danced around that a lot here. We needed that prediction to be true for the rest of the season. And there was a season coming up that got cut, we filmed it but cut it - it was a brief moment where we come back to Nathan and Lainey and see that there is another card out there. And they don’t know who it was played for. It was the, um … NP: The Hermit. Which is about going on a journey of discovery. BM: And the idea was that in the lookback it would be something that would help explain who Duke winds up talking to out there in the middle of nowhere, that Croatoan had played a card for himself so that he was able to send a emissary, or a spectre to talk to Duke. And it wound up being confusing, and not really necessary, so it got cut out. NP: And we were long anyway on this one
[As Charlotte is frantically packing some things in the final scene] BM: So this scene was such a challenge. We knew that Charlotte had to be confronted by Croatoan. We knew that she knew who he was at this point. And we knew that she was going to be killed. But we also knew that the audience couldn’t see that what’s really happening here is that there is a possessed Dave off screen. So we couldn’t see him. So she had to be talking to an unseen person and be killed by someone we couldn’t see. So it was tough. I felt terrible for her, but Lee Rose [director] and Laura really put it together, because she was just all by herself talking to … I think Joanne our script supervisor was shouting lines off camera. NP: But Lee shot this wonderfully. It’s nice and dark and moody. BM: Yeah we needed it to be scary, again it was a little bit like a horror movie here. And we needed them to refer a little bit to the history they have with each other, with just blatantly expo-dumping like crazy about what’s going on. And we knew that her last words would be sticking up for Audrey, and that that might be what would cause her to charge at Croatoan. NP: That voice was interesting, because it’s both Dave’s voice but also the voice of Croatoan from the void and it needs to be masked in order for the dramatic tension.
[Duke and the mysterious stranger] BM: This was another Dark Tower-ish sort of moment. We wished that we could have shot this at night time, and there was originally a camp fire, but it just wasn’t practical production-wise to do that. But there’s a bit of a man in black and gunslinger feel to this, at the end of the first Dark Tower book. But this is where Duke is going to get some of his answers. And I love this guy. NP: This guy does a great, great job.
[Audrey about to find Charlotte] BM: And then this here’s just a sad moment. The two of them were great, but it’s tough. NP: This scene ended up working really well. BM: It was a hard one to write, and it’s hard for them to act, but I think that they really nailed it. NP: With scenes like this, you can’t be precious or careful, you just have to write the hell out of them and just go for it. BM: Yeah, we just tried to go for some emotional reality. Like, what would you say to someone in this kind of moment? I just expected everyone to blow it up and for it to get re-conceived entirely. But Laura and Emily were totally on board and everyone else was too, and I think it’s just because, it’s just sad. NP: It feels honest BM: We actually cut the last 10 seconds or so, where originally Nathan and Dwight rush into the room and the last moment would be seeing Dwight’s face NP: I think we ended up cutting that because in 19 she comes back and he gets a goodbye then BM: He does, and it kind of detracted from what is a serious Audrey and Charlotte scene here. And the challenge is that it’s a touching moment, but Charlotte needs to reveal that Croataon is Mara’s father, and he’s coming for her. NP And especially after they spent the whole episode together. They bonded. BM: Yeah, but it’s just a gutting ending here and I hope that the audience was surprised. I hope that it really lands for people NP: So yeah, there it is; the death of Charlotte Cross. Thank you so much Laura Mennell

Killing Eve ― 3x02 (Review)
I’m finally back to discuss 3x02!! It’s kind of late, I know, but thankfully I haven’t read any other reviews, reactions or thoughts of the episode yet, so my opinion hasn’t been affected by anyone elses and the perspective is still pretty fresh, lol! So let’s get into it, shall we?
The Funeral
This is exactly the place that ended up bringing all, or most, of characters together. Literally. Carolyn is there, Eve is there, Konstantin as well, Kenny’s girlfriend Audrey including his employer and a colleague. Oh, let’s not forget Kenny’s sister - Geraldine! The only person who’s missing here is Villanelle.
I assume they haven’t seen each other for 6 months. And by “they” I mean Eve, Carolyn and Konstantin. Some thought that Konstantin being there was very random, but not exactly. Sure, he didn’t personally know Kenny, but he makes it look like he’s there to support Carolyn since they are “old friends”. Eve immediatelly picks up on that and calls him out. “Don’t pretend... for one second, that you ever think of anyone but yourself.” Eve hasn’t spent as much time around Konstantin as Villanelle has, and despite that fact she seems to know him really well. And in a way, by saying so Eve is reminding US of who exactly is Konstantin Vasiliev.
So. The Bathroom scene. Now that I’m thinking about it, there are 3 characters that perfectly express 3 different stages of grief. Carolyn seems to be almost unaffected by her son’s death, not saying much, not feeling much, perhaps? At least she doesn’t show it. She’s clearly in denial and that’s the first stage of grief. Then there’s Eve, who is so determined to get to the bottom of things and solve the case that got her dear friend killed. She’s obviously angry because she’s the only one who truly believes Kenny didn’t commit a suicide. That’s second stage of grief. And finally, there’s Audrey, who allows herself to be vulnerable and accepts the fact that Kenny’s gone. So pain and acceptance follows the previous two stages. It’s just so interesting as to why they would throw all 3 of them in a bathroom like that with three completely different reactions. So yeah, I do think they did th scene only to show us how those 3 are dealing with the loss.
Next, Geraldine comes into the picture. And she does that through Konstantin. Konstantin is minding his own business, getting his hands on the food and Geraldine comes to greet him, obviously happy to see him again. Based on their brief conversation during the scene shows that she had a way better relationship/bond with Konstantin than she did with her own mother. That says a lot. Also, we find out that Konstantin has been there for quite  A LONG time since she and Kenny were kids. It’s safe to say he and Carolyn did have an affair at some point and who knows... maybe he was way more involved in their lives than they’re letting us on. But yeah, I’ll touch upon Geraldine and Konstantin a bit later.
The fact that Carolyn was the only one who was wearing WHITE instead of black gives us a clear indication of the denial. Not only she did that, but.. “Couldn’t we be sad and listen to good music?” Carolyn Martens, everybody. She might just have the weirdest yet coolest one-liners in the show and I’m all about it.
Were any of you just as annoyed by Jamie, Kenny’s employer, as Eve was? I’m sure the conversation between him and Eve was intentional especially knowing that they will have to work together to crack the case of Kenny’s death, but damn! Still not sure what to think about him. Seems rather shady to me. Then again.. there are too many shady characters on this show we cannot trust, lol, so might as well add another one in the list!
Villanelle & Dasha
I honestly thought that the new place Villanelle moved in belonged to her wife. It only made sense. I mean.. where the hell is MARIA?! Don’t tell me we won’t see her again. What’s the point in having Villanelle marry someone and not share any scenes with that character again? We  better see her again and the fact that Villanelle is not even wearing her wedding ring is hilarious and shows exactly how FAKE their marriage really is.
Okay, back to Villanelle and Dasha. I don’t think her wanting to go back to Russia is the only, or main, reason why she had to bring Villanelle back into business. I hope we won’t have to wait until the finale to find out what Dasha did to Villanelle. It had to be something very extreme.. or not at all. Let’s not forget... Eve rejected to go with Villanelle and she shot her..almost killed her. So Villanelle saying she’ll kill Dasha.. you can never know, right?
Villanelle having to work WITH someone? Really? I think the show made it pretty clear in 1x04 how Villanelle can’t work in a group. It will not end up well and this time it was no different. I actually liked Felix a lot. He was such a baby, but he did fucked up after all and Villanelle told him straight away that she’ll kill him if he made her look “bad”. Good old foreshadowning on it’s finest.
Patience and responsibility is required to be a Keeper. Villanelle has neither of those two and she even admitted that herself. She knows it, we know it, and Dasha knows it. Instead, she tells her to “pretend” to be patient and responsible. Not only that, but handle Felix in a particulary way, by lying to him and giving false hope he “might” be good. Not a minute after, Dasha uses this manipulation technique on Villanelle to show how well it works. Thankfully she didn’t fell for it. But that makes me wonder... if Dasha has been acting like this ever since she found Villanelle again. She’s giving her false hopes of becoming a Keeper and being “good enough” to be one. She has no power to make Villanelle a Keeper, so... she’s manipulating her to do the dirty work and.. maybe deal with her after she did whatever she was needed to do. Which might lead to yet another betrayal... and this time she might not survive.
It has always been Konstantin’s job to remind Villanelle of Eve and tease her about her all the damn time, so when Dasha brought Eve up and Villanelle possibly STILL thinking about her, she got immediatelly defensive and kind of pissed off? I mean... it doesn’t get as obvious as this. We get it, sweetie. You’re still as much in love with her as you were 6 months ago.
Carolyn
There was a part of me that believed in a way that Carolyn might be involved in her own son’s death. Yes, that would be very fucked up to say the least, but... we don’t actually know her, do we? She could’ve done anything and everything and we wouldn’t know. And neither do other characters, as it seems. Even Konstantin, who has known her for YEARS is ordered to spy on her. Truth is... we don’t really know anything. But then.. there’s something else.
Then we get the scene in the car, which was very well needed. We needed to see a more vulnerable side of her, the emotional side of Carolyn to see that.. she might not have been involved in Kenny’s death. She has been acting that entire time, pretending he comitted suicide because she knew there will be people who would be spying on her. Hell, she probably knows Konstantin was there to do that, but decided not to mention anything.
One name. FIONA SHAW. The car scene was phenomenal. Carolyn doesn’t get many scenes like that where she gets show emotion and open up a bit more so I really appreciated the scene and again... her GOLDEN one-liners. “Why don’t you go and do that thing... where you close your eyes and breathe?” This line KILLED ME! It might just be the most iconic Carolyn line for me so far. Don’t try to change my mind lol!
So on top of everything that’s going on, and her trying to investigate Kenny’s death, wanting Eve’s help... she tries to talk about her family, especially her father but Eve’s not having any of it. So plan B is to bring up Villanelle, because ohh she knows...just how important Villanelle was AND still is to Eve and all she needs to do really is to binrg a photo of her most recent victim and tell Eve that she’s back. This can’t be about Villanelle anymore... I mean Kenny JUST died and this just has to be a way for Carolyn to get Eve back in the game. And it has worked.. even though Eve declined her offer. “I thought you’d want to know” Yes, Eve DOES know now. And she won’t let it go. The level of her “subtle” manipulation is just... soo efficient. What I don’t understand is why she keeps “firing” Eve and then coming back later and asking her to come back and chase Villanelle all over again. And when she does so... Carolyn doesn’t want Eve to be as invested in Villanelle anymore and that’s the same case with Villanelle and Konstantin and honestly... this topic deserves a separate discussion and I’ll touch upon it really soon because I’m VERY curious and even slightly frustrated about the whole thing.
Konstantin
This man might be just as shady as Carolyn is, this season. At least one thing we DO know. He has a mission and will play an important role. Last season all that he wanted was to get back to his family and hopefully quit working for the Twelve? Yeah, that didn’t work out. Like at all.
He’s not with his family, his wife has a boyfriend, his daughter is stuck with them and she hates it and Konstantin doesn’t really care that much. I mean, what could he do? Bring Irina with? She’d only end up dead so he can’t involve his family into this thing. And that leaves him alone in this... mess. I’m not even sure where his REAL loyalties lie anymore. I’d say his family but you can never know. He did say... he never stopped working for the Twelve. So that might just answered my previous question.
At the same time I feel he is STILL working with Carolyn to some extend. Carolyn went to tell Eve that Villanelle is back then Konstantin goes to find Villanelle to let her know that Eve is alive and well. Were Konstantin and Carolyn ordered to do that separately or it’s their own plan in getting Eve and Villanelle to chase one another once more? Shady stuff, indeed.
Just like Carolyn manipulates Eve, Konstantin’s like “Eve’s alive. But DON’T go to London”. LMAO, seriously Konstantin?! Of course she’s NOT going to London in the following episode to visit Eve. Don’t even worry about it. It’s very suspicious he only comes to visit Villanelle after half a year and exactly when Eve knows that she is back and everything else. He was ordered to stay in London for a while... so now he’ll bring Villanelle to London and shit will go down. Good job, dad!
Eve
So recently I had a very huge realization. The thing is... Eve has always been Villanelle’s shadow in a way, because most of us LOVE Villanelle to pieces and we often, if not all the time, forget about Eve being another LEAD of the show. I’m not gonna lie, I was like that for the past two seasons and I really underestimated her. But.. this season, these first two episodes proved me wrong and I’m still shocked as to how much Eve has changed since S2. I can’t really put my finger on it... but shes’s different. Shes completely different person now. She’s so much more grounded in so many ways, and yeah I know she’s a MESS right now but the character development so far... wow. Maybe she’s like that because Niko is not really in her life anymore and she doesn’t need to pretend about anything. She gets to express how she really feels and I’m all for it. I’ve been ASLEEP for too damn long... and I finally awoke.. and I fucking LOVE Eve Polastri. Please, do not underestimate her. She and Villanelle were always equal but now... now they truly are and I cannot wait for next episode to see how she’ll react to Villanelle and how different their interactions will be from now on. Since.. old Eve IS dead and this Eve gives zero shits about anything. All I can say... careful, Villanelle, you don’t want to mess with her.
Sandra Oh. That’s it. Her ability to just.. become this new version of Eve fascinates me so much. It almost seems like she doesn’t even need to try and I LOVE that. She’s bringing this wild, crazy side to Eve that we haven’t really seen before and her every scene deserves a fucking applause. Truly. So let’s appreciate Sandra for being sooo ridiculously amazing as Eve and serving us each episode with amazing content. I’m starting to see what Villanelle sees in Eve... and I’m a bit worried lol!
Alsooo I can’t be the only one who noticed the change in Eve’s choice for drinks. Throughout first two seasons she ALWAYS went for Gin and Tonic. Now, though? It’s only GIN. Yeah, this is a different Eve and shes going for real, clear drinks and that’s all we need to know.
Villanelle
I’ve covered most of the things previously in ‘Villanelle & Dasha’ part. I just want to quickly discuss Jodie Comer’s acting. Can we do that, please? Okay, so there were two scenes that stuck out for me. The one where she and Felix had THE conversation about being rejected by the loves of their lives AND obviously the ending scene with Konstantin. Jodie Marie Comer. There are NO limits for her acting... none at all and I still catch myself watching scenes like that with my jaw to the floor.
The scene with Felix is soooo important and you can’t tell me Villanelle is incapable of having feelings after watching it. She HAS feelings and she DOES feel them. More intensively than others too. And the way they used the Unloved “Cry” soundtrack in there... just glued me to the screen and I had to rewatch the scene several times. A truly highlight of the episode.
Now... the ending scene. That was something I didn’t think I’ll see in terms of.. how outstanding Jodie’s acting was. They also focused on HER only, blurrying Konstantin’s image out and pushing him into the background because that’s how Villanelle felt. She basically went through AT LEAST 4 emotions through the same scene and that’s all because she found out Eve is actually alive and... I’m still SHOOK.
Soundtracks
Just feeling like I need to mention how wonderful are the show’s soundtracks. Like the crew finds and picks mostly not very popular songs and they work so well and makes the show so unique. Most shows use already known songs and Killing Eve just... goes for something unpopular (yet), older foreign songs that fit so perfectly in the given location of the show and the songs usually, if not always, have a very deep meaning. They reflect and tell a story for us that the characters are not telling and that is suuch a brilliant way of using the soundtracks. The two that I REALLY loved this episode was USP by Liz Lawrence and Dart For My Sweetheart by Archie Bronson Outfit. If I’m correct both of the songs were playing during Kenny’s funeral, which is soo fucked up! But like.. thanks Carolyn, for requesting some good ass music!! I definitely recommend you guys to check those songs out and the rest of the soundtracks, as they carry such a strong Killing Eve vibe!
Overall Thoughts
Like I said about the premiere being and feeling different, this episode was somewhat similar to that meaning that the show is different now and we shouldn’t expect miracles of it because we will end up disappointed. So far, I’m loving it and I CANNOT wait for next episode... I know I will not surive and probably neither will you. They’re still taking their time into getting back to the “normal” pace of the show and current events but I have a very strong feeling next episode will NOT compare with the previous two and that’s when the story itself will pick up the pace and will actually GLUE us to the screens until the finale!
As always, feel free to let me know your throughts, reactions or even predictions for the next episode as we have basically 2 more days until 3x03 and we all will need help afterwards. So my inbox and askbox is always open for you guys! And MASSIVE THANK YOU to those who actually take their time to read my nonsense!

Sarah’s AHS Characters (+Alice and a Ship) as Songs I’m Vibing With
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Instead of a collection of songs from one artist these are songs I’m currently vibing with? Here’s the playlist if you wanna listen (warning it fluctuates a lot because it’s just songs a vibe with at the moment). I skipped the songs I used in artist posts.
Billie Dean Howard
“24 / 7/ 365″ by Surfaces
Met, this girl down by the vine Had long tan legs and big brown eyes Seemed the type I would wanna make mine
She said nine to five, I'm killing time But twenty-four-seven, three-six-five I have to be where I feel your sunshine
One to two-step, three-step, four She's everywhere out on the dance floor She's everything you could ever want and more
Picture it. Billie Dean is at some event. She spies a girl who’s mesmerizing, killing it on the dance floor. Realizing this girl is absolutely the person she wants to be with. The line “I have to be where I feel your sunshine”!! Big Billie Dean vibes right there. In the darkness that her job sometimes entails, she’s drawn to the light of her lover. A ray of sunshine if you will.
“Heaven Falls / Fall on Me” by Surfaces
Woke up early in the mornin' Just to feel the light of day Had to open up my window Get the shadows out my way Banana pancakes for my problems Find me jamming old Jack Johnson Swear I heard them angel calls Lay outside
As Heaven falls Heaven falls
If you can’t tell, Surfaces really makes me think of Billie Dean. This goes with my explanation for the other song. Billie’s job gets pretty dark and intense. Although she never completely gets a break from her job (because she can’t just turn off being a medium) she tries to use her time away from filming and darker locations to focus on the lighter aspects of life, savoring all around her and her lover. I have no idea if what I said makes sense though.
Lana Winters
“Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” by FINNEAS
Let's fall in love for the night And forget in the mornin' Play me a song that you like You can bet I'll know every line I'm the boy that your boy hoped that you would avoid Don't waste your eyes on jealous guys, fuck that noise I know better than to call you mine
This song gives me Lana vibes in the sense that she doesn’t really want to get too attached to people. This also makes me think of how Lana is the type of lover that someone’s conservative/strict family wouldn’t want them with (because of the gay). When you go this route, it’s hard for me not to picture teenage Lana when listening to this.
Fun fact: I have a vague idea for writing a Billie Dean Howard x Reader imagine over this song.
“me & ur ghost” by blackbear
I'm not alone It's just me and your ghost And this cripplin' depression I thought I learned my lesson But, I threw out my phone And I burned all your clothes And now I'm not alone It's just me and your ghost
Now hear me out. Post break up Lana dealing with all of her memories of her ex and then burning all of their shit because Lana is lowkey that bitch. It’s a bit of a stretch, but that’s just my humble opinion on the matter.
Cordelia Goode
“If We Were Vampires” by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
It's not the long, flowing dress that you're in Or the light coming off of your skin The fragile heart you protected for so long Or the mercy in your sense of right and wrong It's not your hands searching slow in the dark Or your nails leaving love's watermark It's not the way you talk me off the roof Your questions like directions to the truth
It's knowing that this can't go on forever Likely one of us will have to spend some days alone Maybe we'll get forty years together But one day I'll be gone Or one day you'll be gone
Cordelia knows that one day she will die. There will be another Supreme after her and she can’t live forever. This is her coming to terms with the fact that maybe it’s for the best that she won’t stay around forever. Not being immortal allows her to live in the moment and savor all the time she has.
“PlantedInMyMind.Memo” by Charlie Burg
Saying things I don't believe And your love casts it's shadow on the things I do And I can hear so clearly all the words I'd wish I'd said You're stuck in my head But I only think of you Will we be together soon? I'm thrown on the wayside You're planted in my mind But I don't wanna be ok without you
This makes me think of an angsty Cordelia relationship like post “In Another Lifetime”?!?! Cordelia being stuck on her lover from the past
Also makes me think of Cordelia x Misty after the events of season 3
Bette and Dot Tattler
“prom dress” by mxmtoon
I can't help the fact I like to be alone It might sound kinda sad, but that's just what I seem to know I tend to handle things usually by myself And I can't ever seem to try and ask for help
I'm sitting here, crying in my prom dress I'd be the prom queen if crying was a contest Makeup is running down, feelings are all around How did I get here? I need to know
I guess I maybe had a couple expectations Thought I'd get to them, but no I didn't
I’m not going to lie, this is a bit of a stretch.
I’m kind of getting Bette and Dot wishing they could be like everyone else. They just want that normal teen experience?
Sally McKenna
“Teeth” by 5 Seconds of Summer
Call me in the morning to apologize Every little lie gives me butterflies Something in the way you're looking through my eyes Don't know if I'm gonna make it out alive
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth Late night devil, put your hands on me And never, never, never ever let go
The angst! The tension! The passion! SPICY TIMES WITH SALLY
“fuck, i’m lonely” by Lauv, Anne-Marie
I call you one time, two time, three time I can't wait no more Your fingers through my hair, that's on my mind I know it's been a minute since you walked right through that door But I still think about you all the time
Sally just wants love. She’s sick of being lonely and wants to be with the person she loves. Being a ghost sucks and she wants out of that damn hotel.
Dealing with her ex that is still alive while she’s not.
Audrey Tindall
“Prom Queen” by Beach Bunny
Shut up, count your calories I never looked good in mom jeans Wish I, was like you, blue-eyed blondie, perfect body Maybe I should try harder You should lower your expectations I'm no quick-curl barbie I was never cut out for Prom Queen If I get more pretty, do you think he will like me?
Teen Audrey. I will stand by this.
Now I’m thinking about teen Audrey and my heart :(
Ally Mayfair Richards
“I Needed You” by blackbear
When I needed you the most, I needed you I fucking needed you the most, I needed you, the most Now I won't be there to give you what you need Now I won't be there, no
You know this was never really about us And everything was always 'bout you You never knew a thing about trust And I knew everything about you, what's happening Three whole years, they can go by In a blink of an eye, and you won't know it, but What a damn waste of time
You can’t sit there and tell me this doesn’t sound like Ally dealing with Ivy’s betrayal. No. There is no way this song doesn’t give off those vibes. Like sis was dealing with a ton of shit and where was her wife??? Off gallivanting and murdering with a cult because she voted for Jill Stein.
Wilhemina Venable
“Lovesong (The Way) [feat. Bluets]” by Charlie Burg
Now you're away with nothing to say My heart aches like never before Filled with desire, you've inspired me to write another verse
I think we're alone now You can tell me it was all just a game Yes, we're alone now But the feeling's slightly changed
But you take your time, my love Don't ever tell me that it just takes time to love As long as I'm writing this song about my love for you Is it too much to ask For a reply? Or a text? Or a way to tell you love me like before
I don’t knooowww. This just makes me think of Mina trying to deal with her feelings and possibly her significant other kind of giving up because they feel like Mina will never reciprocate their feelings. Mina does love them but it’s hard for her to express it.
“Someday” by Peach Tree Rascals
I hate the fact that you Run on mind, all damn day There she goes
Girl won't you wait for me
I settled down, I'm better now I never knew what this life was about Days got too plain, colors got dull All of the roses fell on to the floor I'll pick them up, wipe the dust Need a chance for your love For your love, for your love, ooooh I've been floating between oceans And the darkness in the sky I've been lonesome in this old shed And it's burnin through my mind
Similar to the song above, Mina hates the fact that she’s stuck on this person, but she eventually realizes that she needs this person in her life. This love really out here making her appreciate life and all the good things in it.
Basically Mina is turning into a softie.
Alice Macray
“Mariposa” by Peach Tree Rascals
I can't wait for you To come my way I've been far away But I'll keep runnin' Just to find a way to you til' then
I been running from it Tired of running from it Scared of feeling something now I'm stuck and tryna get up out of this hole
Surface level this song has some good vibes like our baby Alice. Over analyzing level is not as good vibes. This song is kind of like our baby Alice running from her feelings for someone because the thought of such strong feelings is scary for her.
Billie Dean Howard x Audrey Tindall
“Channel Orange in Your Living Room” by Charlie Burg
We met when I was drunk That party didn't actually suck You made fun of how slow I drank
But now I can't stop thinking about you Each moment passes and my thoughts return to you And the memory of us too As we listen to Channel Orange in your living room
Even when you're away That album makes me feel like you stayed To listen now would make me a fool again for you
Without a doubt, I always think of these two when I listen to the song and that’s one of the reasons why I love it so much. I’m just picturing the two of them meeting a party together and Billie taking Audrey back to her place. Then they end up thinking of each other long after the night is over.

Time for a story - The Promise
Tumblr media
Felicity was just putting the finishing touches to her make-up when Oliver stepped into the bathroom. He was already dressed and styled, looking like he could leave the house any second now. She eyed his reflection in the mirror, enjoying the sight. Oliver just looked incredibly good when he was wearing a tuxedo, especially when it was complemented by a bowtie and suspenders like today.
“Like what you see?”
Oliver flashed her a brief look in the mirror when he stepped behind her. Looking at his own reflection, he adjusted the position of the bowtie to make sure it was perfectly in place. Then he moved his fingers through his hair, making it look a little more undone and yet perfectly styled at the same time. Only Oliver could do that.
“Kind of,” Felicity replied, grabbing the mascara, “but don’t flatter yourself with it.”
“Oh, I am not supposed to flatter myself?”
“Exactly.”
“Because I usually flatter myself for being complimented half-heartedly like this.”
“Oh, I am sure you- No, no, no.”
As soon as Oliver wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pulling her against his chest, Felicity slapped his hands away. It took a moment before Oliver let go of her, but he did eventually. Quickly, Felicity stepped out of his reach and checked her make-up in the mirror.
“Lucky you,” Felicity said, shooting him an only half-angry gaze in the mirror, “the mascara didn’t end up all over my face. Otherwise, you could have gone to this fundraiser all on your own, and we both know how much you love to do that.”
Oliver scrunched up his nose at the prospect. He really didn’t like to go to any fancy gatherings on his own. He didn’t like to go to any social gathering on his own actually. He always said it was one of the perks of being married – he could drag her with him wherever he went.
Of course it was still no secret that Felicity could as well just say that she didn’t have time or simply didn’t want to go. Oliver would never hold it against her. They had both chosen time-consuming jobs that forced them to show their faces during quite some occasions in the city. They had each other’s full support, but they also had their limits.
Felicity put her earrings – her favorite arrowhead-formed earrings – in and turned around to Oliver. He was sitting on the edge of the bathtub now as he had watched her getting ready. Whenever he was ready before her which was basically every time they went out together, he liked to take his time and watch her getting ready.
Stepping between Oliver’s slightly spread legs, Felicity put her hands to his shoulders. Oliver angled his head back to look at her face immediately. His hands moved over the thin fabric of her red dress, traveling from the outside of her thighs to her hips and finally her waist. The warmth of his skin seeped through the fabric of her clothes and right into her skin it seemed. Sighing contently at the feeling, Felicity leaned even more against Oliver.
“You know, you might get a chance of helping me to take this off tonight.”
Oliver’s eyes sparkled at that and his eyebrows perked up. She had obviously caught his attention. Sex usually caught his attention.
“Sex tonight?” Oliver asked, his hands roaming a little lower on her body now, so his fingertips grazed against her butt. “That sounds promising.”
“And we actually have good chances at making it work,” Felicity said, squeezing his shoulders, “because Emmy is at that slumber party at Rosalie’s.”
“Tommy is spending the night at Hank’s place.”
“I just put Addie to bed.”
“William is spending the weekend in San Francisco.”
“And Millie is probably asleep by the time we come back too,” Felicity said with a smile and already leaned in for a kiss when she stopped and frowned, “apropos Millie, where is she?”
“Last time I checked she was getting everything ready downstairs. Hawk assisted her when she was preparing a bowl full of sweets.”
Felicity chuckled because she could imagine this easily. Millie had been hyped all day which had made her plan to put the toddler to bed before the fundraiser started impossible. Somehow, Millie must have overheard that Audrey had agreed to watch her and Addie tonight since Raisa had had to travel to her sick sister and nobody else had been available. Since she had found out, she had been talking about nothing else. Spending a night alone with William’s girlfriend seemed to have been quite high on her list of things she wanted to experience in her life.
“I allowed Millie to watch a movie or twice before she goes to bed,” Felicity said, “but I doubt that she will go to bed then, and we shouldn’t put Audrey through putting an unwilling toddler into bed.”
Oliver nodded his head in agreement. “It’s the first time she babysits, and it was wonderful that she offered to do this.”
“Yeah, I agree,” Felicity replied with a smile, “which is why we will tell her that Millie can just watch TV until we are home.”
“My plan is to leave as soon as we are sure that everyone important has seen us and the press has taken some photo anyway.”
“And after we have donated a six-digit sum of money for their cause.”
“Exactly.”
Since their plans for the evening were now synchronized, Oliver and Felicity strolled downstairs. They had just reached the foot of the steps when the doorbell rang. Felicity opened, while Oliver held Hawk back, who wanted to jump up at their guest in excitement.
“Hello, Audrey,” Felicity said and hugged her oldest son’s girlfriend briefly, “how are you doing?”
“I’m fine,” Audrey replied with a smile, “and grateful for the distraction I will have tonight.”
“I guess you are working on your college applications too?”
“Only the last ones, but yes.” Audrey sighed. “I’m just really relieved when everything is finally done and in the post.”
Felicity nodded her head. She understood what Audrey meant. She herself had been more than relieved when everything had finally been out of her hands. She had never really been good at accepting that things were out of her control, but by the time she had sent her applications away, she had known that she had done everything she could have done to make it work. Looking back, she guessed she would have felt differently if she hadn’t been accepted.
“If you need help or just someone to look over your essay or something, you can always come to me,” Felicity told her and squeezed her hand encouragingly, “I helped William with his applications too.”
“Thank you, Felicity.” Audrey smiled at her for a moment longer before she turned to Oliver. “Hello, Mr. Queen.”
“Oliver, please.”
Oliver shot a brief look at Felicity, and she pressed her lips together. Rolling them into her mouth, she bit back on her laughter. It had been a while since they had had this conversation the last time, but Felicity knew that Oliver just didn’t get why all of William’s friends were so quick to call Felicity by her first name if she suggested it, but always hesitate to do the same with him. Felicity guessed that, just like Hawk, Oliver sometimes forgot that his outer appearance could be quite frightening.
“Hi, Hawk,” Audrey said, greeting Hawk by petting his head, “are you going to keep us company tonight?”
“I am sure he won’t be leaving your side as long as there are sweets on the table.”
“Sweets,” Audrey said with a smile, “sound great. I gotta raise my blood sugar a little.”
“Unlike Millie,” Felicity replied quietly, “because it’s getting harder for her to sleep if she is all hyped up by sugar. Then again, she is completely hyped up anyway, so…”
Audrey smiled, shooting a look through the open door. Millie was still busy making sure that every pillow was perfectly in place and that she would have the best perspective on TV. Oliver had carried her bedding downstairs, so she would hopefully fall asleep sooner. She had spread the blanket and at least her favorite stuffed animals were already tugged beneath it warmly.
“When should I put her to bed?” Audrey asked. “Whenever William and I watched them, they were all in bed.”
“I know,” Felicity replied with a deep sigh, “Addie is in bed already, and she is fast asleep. She usually doesn’t wake up once she’s asleep. Otherwise, just let her watch TV with you, or call me if she cries. The fundraiser is not that important anyway.”
“Okay.”
“I told Millie that she can watch one or maybe two movies with you, but I doubt that she is going to fall asleep after that, so just watch movies together until I am back. Putting her to bed when she doesn’t want to is not that easy right now.”
Again, Audrey nodded. “Okay.”
“We won’t take long,” Oliver added, “I think we should be back by ten.”
“Take your time,” Audrey replied, “I am sure Millie and I will get along perfectly.”
Felicity smiled, knowing that Audrey was probably right. Millie was the easiest of the kids to deal with, always had been. They would certainly have a great time together. Besides, Millie and Audrey already knew each other quite well. There shouldn’t be any problems.
“Will you check on Addie once more?”
Oliver nodded. “Sure.”
While he went back upstairs to make sure their youngest was indeed sleeping as soundly as it looked, Felicity gestured for Audrey to come with her to the living room.
“Millie, you’ve got a guest,” Felicity said, “Audrey is here.”
Millie stopped rearranging the pillows for a hundredth time and leaned back against the edge of the couch. Smiling almost a little shyly, she waved her hand.
“Hi, Millie,” Audrey said, putting her purse aside and smiling at the toddler warmly, “I heard we are going to watch movies tonight. Do you already know what you want to watch?”
“I have a lot of movies.”
As if to prove that it was true, Millie opened the drawer of the TV board and revealed a part of their collection of children’s movies. While Felicity would have preferred to have them all just saved on their box, she had discovered a long time ago that Blu-rays just made the much better gifts for children. Hence, their collection was divided.
With an amused smile, Felicity watched Millie taking all the Blu-Rays out of the drawer and spreading them on the floor. She listed the titles like she could read them when she was actually just remembering them from the covers. Audrey tried to ask some questions, but she didn’t get in between. That was how hyped Millie was for this movie date with her.
“Addie’s fast asleep,” Oliver said as he stepped into the living room, “which means it’s time for my goodbye kiss now.”
Oliver went down onto his knees and spread his arms. Millie didn’t need to be asked twice. She dropped the Blu-Rays to the floor a little uncarefully and ran into her daddy’s arms. She peppered a few kisses all over his face like Oliver usually did for her. Then she put both of her tiny hands to his cheek and placed a firm kiss on his mouth.
“Thank you,” Oliver said, “that was a really good goodbye kiss.”
“Daddy, pinky swear.”
“Pinky swear?” Oliver asked, eying Millie’s pinky suspiciously. “What do you want a pinky swear for?”
“Not come back too soon.”
Oliver chuckled. “You are a little too young to wish for something like that, young lady. You are supposed to want us back home soon.”
“Not tonight.”
“Not tonight,” Oliver repeated with a sigh and linked his pinky with hers. “I promise that you can watch two full movies, okay?”
Millie nodded her head. “Okay.”
“Do you want to kick us out now?”
At that, Millie’s eyes widened and a huge grin spread on her face. She nodded her head quickly, excited about the idea to kick her parents out of the house, so she could finally start her movie night with Audrey.
“With run-up.”
“It’s the only way it’s fun,” Oliver agreed.
“Since mommy is wearing high shoes, mommy can’t join into this fun,” Felicity said, “but I would like a goodnight kiss like daddy too nonetheless.”
Felicity bent down in front of Millie, and the toddler played a gentle kiss on Felicity’s lips.
“Have I lipstick now too?”
Chuckling, Felicity brushed her thumb over Millie’s lips. There was indeed some red color from her lipstick there.
“A little, yes.”
“Cool.”
“Have fun tonight,” Felicity said and kissed Millie’s lips once more before she turned to Audrey, “the both of you.”
“Thank you, Felicity.” Audrey smiled. “You too.”
Felicity slipped into her jacket, grabbed her purse and already stepped outside. With a smile on her lips, she watched Oliver getting into position. He stood in the door, his back turned to the house and just waited. Meanwhile, Millie went as far back in the foyer as possible before she ran up to Oliver and shoved him from behind. What would have usually had no effect at all, caused Oliver to dramatically stumble a couple of steps forward now.
“Don’t be home early.”
“We won’t,” Oliver replied, “don’t worry.”
“Bye!”
Millie waved for a moment longer before she almost slammed the door shut. Chuckling, Oliver shook his head and reached his hand out for Felicity.
“I love this game of getting kicked out of the house by ours kids,” Oliver said, “and I hate it just as much.”
“I know.” Felicity smiled, squeezing his hand. “Let’s see the positive here though. Having our kids react this way is definitely easier than if they were crying. We would never be able to leave them.”
Oliver nodded his head in agreement. Still, a long sigh fell from his lips. It was never easy when kids broke loose of their parents, even if it was just for a couple of hours.
→ → → → →
It was almost midnight by the time that Oliver and Felicity came home from the fundraiser. Hand in hand, they tiptoed through the dark foyer of their house and right into the living room. Judging from the sounds of the TV and the happy laughter, Millie was still wide awake and having a really good time.
Smiling, Felicity and Oliver snuck into the living room.
“Hey, you two,” Felicity said, “you are still awake and- Millie, why are you crying?”
Millie was tugged beneath her blanket, holding Emmy’s pink giraffe clutched to her chest. The smile that had been on her lips seconds ago had suddenly faded. Her face was now screwed up in sadness. Big tears were running down her cheeks.
Audrey didn’t look less surprised than Felicity guessed she did. She looked back and forth between the toddle and her parents, unsure what to say.
“She just started,” Audrey explained quickly like she needed to defend herself against a coming reproach. “She was laughing half a minute ago.”
Felicity could already see the corners of Oliver’s lips twitching as he knew as well as she did what was going on here.
“Millie,” Felicity addressed her daughter with soft voice, “are you crying because mommy and daddy are home?”
Millie nodded her head. “I don’t want to go to bed.”
Felicity was unable to bite back a chuckle at that. It was far later than she would let Millie stay up usually, and it still wasn’t enough for the toddler. It was never enough when sweets, movies and a non-parental company were available.
Oliver let go of Felicity’s hand and crossed the distance towards Millie. He pulled her onto his lap, rocking her back and forth as he was trying to comfort her. He was whispering soft words into her ear, but it didn’t help to calm her down. Millie was way past her bedtime, and she wouldn’t be calmed easily now.
“Millie, do you want to say goodbye to Audrey?”
“No,” Millie cried, pressing herself closer to Oliver, “I don’t want to go to bed.”
Audrey smiled sympathetically in Millie’s direction while she was slipping into her shoes. Grabbing her purse, she got up.
“Goodnight, Millie.”
Millie just waved her hand halfheartedly, still crying at Oliver’s shoulder. The longer she cried, the better chances Felicity and Oliver had that Millie was just going to fall asleep in her daddy’s arms like that.
“I will walk you outside,” Felicity told Audrey.
“Goodnight, Mr. Qu- Oliver.”
“Goodnight, Audrey.” Oliver smiled at Audrey. “Thank you. Have a good ride home and text us when you have arrived.”
“I will.”
Felicity led Audrey to the door, trying to be quiet so they wouldn’t wake up Addie.
“Any problems while we were gone?”
Audrey shook her head. “Both girls were perfectly fine.”
“Until Oliver and I showed up.”
“Yeah.” Audrey chuckled. “Anyway, if you need someone to watch them again, I don’t mind. I really had a lot of fun today.”
“So, it did take your mind off college?”
“Definitely.”
“That’s good to hear.” Felicity smiled. “Thank you again, Audrey.”
“Absolutely nothing to thank me for. Goodnight, Felicity.”
“Goodnight.”
Felicity stayed in the door while Audrey was walking to her car. Although Starling had become a lot safer through the years, you could never be too careful. Only when the doors were shut behind her safely and she was turning on the engine, Felicity closed the door.
Stepping back into the living room, Felicity saw that Millie had calmed down a little. She had wiped her tears away and looked somewhat okay again. The tiredness was still sparkling through her eyes.
“Ready for bed?”
To Felicity’s surprise, Millie nodded her head firmly. She reached out her hands for Felicity, who took the little girl from Oliver and held her close to her chest.
“I sleep in your bed.”
“In our bed?” Felicity perked up an eyebrow. “Really? Because I-“
“Daddy said yes.”
Surprised, Felicity turned her head towards Oliver. He had his hands pushed into the pockets of his pants and his lips puckered. Obviously, he hadn’t forgotten that she had promised him a chance at taking off her dress. He hadn’t missed that he had given this chance away by inviting Millie into their bed either.
“I guess I will just undress myself then,” Felicity mumbled, “too bad.”
Oliver grumbled some words Felicity couldn’t understand. When she turned her head back over her shoulder to smile at him, he winked though. Maybe they weren’t going to have sex tonight, but they had one of their girls in bed to cuddle all night. That was just as good as sex, maybe even a little better.

Descendants Imagine
Imagine: Being Mal's long lost sister, but you've been living on Auradon the entire time.
Tumblr media
Of course nobody knew who your mother was, not even you.
If they did they would want your head on a wooden pike.
Unfortunately that means you also don't know your biological father
You were raised by Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip, alongside their daughter Audrey.
No one knows you were adopted, not even you and Audrey.
Tumblr media
You always knew how superficial and stuck-up she was (she was good at hiding it for the most part at school till the VK's showed up), but to you she was your sister, and family meant everything.
She's nicer to you, because you're her sister.
You do a lot of apologizing for that girl.
You tend to be the nicer one out of the two of you.
Which leads to you having real friends.
The times she is rude or mean to you, is normally when you're around your friends.
High-key it's because deep down she knows her friends are fake, or at the very least she doesn't see them as friends.
You're good friends with Ben.
For a while Audrey thought you were trying to steal him.
Tumblr media
But for the most part you don't hang around the royal children.
Like Mal, you can also turn into a dragon - but you don't know that.
Also like Mal, your eyes glow.
They glow a bright electric blue though.
She's more experienced and has been practicing, so while she can do it on command, you can only do it when experiencing intense emotions.
Your friends just think your eyes change color depending on your mood.
Tumblr media
Things get a little dicey when the VK's start attending school at Auradon High.
It's so easy to tell when Mal is using her fake nice-girl voice because you hear it from Audrey all the time.
They can tell your different from the rest of the students.
Mal gets an odd vibe from you, and the others just notice the fact that you aren't an asshole to them.
You also aren't stupid.
Jay made the mistake of trying to get information about Fairy godmothers wand from you.
You just gave him a look and were like, "Why? What are you going to do with it?"
From then on Mal forbid them from talking to you about anything remotely close to their plans
You're good friends with Carlos and Evie.
Jay's a bit on the fence, sometimes he seems like a friend sometimes he's distant (Thanks Mal).
Mal doesn't really talk to you.
Eventually it seems like the other kids start to accept the VK's
Then they open up a little more.
And once they open up a bit more, you become better friends with them, even Mal.
Of course then your and Audrey's grandmother had mess it all up.
Tumblr media
Audrey and Chad didn't help either.
You felt bad for Mal and the other VK's
They had actually been doing great, but people still shunned them.
Audrey, Chad, and your grandmother didn't let you follow after the VK's when they fled the tournament.
That was the first time the VK's saw your eyes glow.
You very overwhelmed with emotions: anger, frustration, sadness, and confusion.
You sat with them at lunch right after Audrey and Chad chased Doug away from them.
They started calling you over, and talking to you as if they had a say in your decisions. Then Audrey and Jane walked over to Mal and started trash talking like she wasn't there.
"Its just a bad girl phase."
"Yeah as if he would ever make a villan his queen."
"Buzz off!" You slammed your hands on the table and stood up from your seat.
Tumblr media
This would be the second time the VK's have seen your eyes change.
Twice in one day, and only in a matter of hours.
"What is wrong with you?"
Audrey looked at you like she was disgusted.
She'd never been on the receiving end of your "freaky" eyes.
That's when Mal took away Jane's new hair and turned it back to normal.
After that Audrey and her crew left.
You were about to sit back down when-
"It's fine, we don't need your pity."
Oof, back to square one with Mal.
You stood there for a moment, watching her like she would change her mind.
But she didn't, and with a sigh you simply shook your head and walked away.
Evie wanted to stop you.
"Didn't you see her eyes?"
Mal was confused for a moment.
Yes
Yes she had, both times, but it hadn't occurred to her how few people were able to do that till now.
And your parents are mortal - royal, but mortal. With the only magic in it being the fairies who raised your mother, but even then, they weren't related by blood.
You shouldn't be able to do that.
Tumblr media
The coronation is where you found out you could turn into a dragon.
When Maleficent appeared you were overcome with emotion.
Anger, she just didn't seem like she could change, she wanted to take everything from you and everyone you loved.
Fear, for you, your friends, your family.
Your heart raced and your pulse quickened.
You felt like you were going to black out
But then-

You froze with all the others, but the moment you turned into a dragon Maleficent instantly knew who you were.
"You! You insolent brat!"
Mal had never heard her mother sound so full of disdain.
Sure she got angry and disappointed with her regularly, but this was full of a toxic hate that she was sure had been previously reserved for only Sleeping Beauty's family.
Apparently she was wrong.
"Her?" Mal was confused, but she thought if she could distract her mom long enough she could grab the wand.
Maleficent growled and took a step towards your massive form.
"Who is 'her'?"
"Your meddling older sister!" Maleficent whipped around and growled at the daughter she raised.
She stumbled upon an old fortune teller after her fall. She was pregnant at the time with you, and she had high hopes that you would be able to aid her with her revenge when you got older, however, the strange man had assured her that it's best not to count your chickens before they hatch, for the future is never written in stone.
The message had been vague, but it was enough to make her paranoid that perhaps you would be her true downfall.
So she abandoned you.
She left you on the side of the road some time after you were born and left you at the mercy of the wild animals.
Luckily for you, Aurora and Philip had been heading back to their home, just days after their own daughter's birth; that's when they heard you and found you, before taking you in - of course Maleficent didn't know that part.
Mal blinked as her mother explained her animosity towards you, all while she slowly stalked towards you. She was on the verge of tears.
All this time she had a sister.
A sister whose not much older than she is.
An older sister who her mother threw away like trash all because of the ramblings of some senile old man.
Her eyes were glassy now, tears hanging on to the edge of them.
All this time she thought she had to deal with her mother alone.
Sure she and Evie were like sisters now, but she could have also had you - especially when she was younger.
"Perhaps I should have finished the job instead of leaving a loose end!" She raised the wand, ready to finish you in your vulnerable frozen state.
"No!"
Mal snatched the wand.
Your mother growled and tried to snag it back, but in their struggle Mal accidentally hit you with a blast from the wand.
And it freed you.
"YOU'LL REGRET THAT!"
You and Maleficent totally had a dragon fight.
But since you aren't that experienced in the form, you eventually get overpowered.
Cue Mal saving you by turning your mom into a lizard and freeing everyone.
You felt weak after turning back to normal and almost collapsed.

"I didn't know you could do that!"
"Neither did I."
Mal helped to keep you upright.
Needless to say, after the whole thing had been broadcast live on television, everyone knew you were Maleficents daughter.
The family that had raised you, no longer wanted anything to do with you.
As far as they were concerned you were just Maleficents spawn who had manahed to deceive then and infiltrate their family.
The VK's were your family now.
Mal started teaching you magic, and how to control your powers.
"Do you think I can turn into a dragon too?"
"I'm not sure?"
You struggled with magic, and honestly you begin to think that maybe Mal got all the magic, and you can just turn into a dragon?
Is that so bad though?
Two halves of a whole?
